Today is World Autism Day so here is (from the perspective of someone who is indeed autistic) Things NHL Players Do/Have Done that are so ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) Coded:

(this is not me claiming any of these people are autistic this is purely for jokes)

- Dawson Mercer’s parents once returned to their home after being out and he had straight up built a shed in the yard just for fun (okay special interest in building)

- Nate Bastian (apparently) doesn’t understand anything they write on the whiteboards on the bench unless they strictly use like X’s and O’s to represent players💀

- Any of them with their silly superstitions (McDavids socks, Crosbys jock, etc etc)

- A video i saw of Sam Montembeault holding his puppy up to his face and having a whole conversation with it. (he was switching between french and english because he didn’t know which language she preferred 😭)

- The Minnesota Wild broadcasters (lovingly) joked that they love(d) interviewing Connor Dewar because he talked so damn fast that they had time for way more questions than usual

- The players with lego obsessions (Sharangovich, Duhaime, etc)

- The players with Game of Thrones obsessions (Dewar, Lauko)

- Goalies that play the piano (Cooley (AHL), Woll, probably more)

- I heard a rumor that a lot of the goalies (including Luukkonen, Wolf, Blackwood) are the opposite of Connor Ingram (who has like really bad OCD) and crave touch all the time 😭

- Nate Bastians ability to make friends and talk to people everywhere he goes (he was an extra in the movie Goon: The Last of the Enforcers as a teenager, interviewed people at the VMA’s once, and yaps his way through life)

- the entire concept of the goalie love, goalie hugs, and goalie protection that proves they’re all a bit special

- Matthew Tkachuk ferally tearing (maybe eating) the collars off his t-shirts

- any of them (mostly tkachuk) that eats the shit out of their mouth guard

where do i start? sam would one, love love love your personality! your optimism, free spirited, and silly personality is what drew him to you in the first place. it was like a breath of fresh air after stewing in dean's pessimism and the dread that hung over the two of them while hunting/ being hunters for so long. he admires the fact that you love to learn new languages and even would try to learn the one you're currently learning atm. this totally didn't happened but before the two of you started to date and found out that you loved to pick up new languages, sam tried learning one of the languages you already knew to try and impress/surprise you with. the fact that you can dance and draw makes sam fall for you even more, loving the fact that you have such a creative spirit and it shows in the doodles you give him as you absentmindedly draw on napkins from a dinner or even have the opportunities to draw on his hand or arm. it also shows with how graceful and agile you are as you hunt.

sam would be so intrigued that you're picking up witchcraft! though he would be hesitant at first but eventually open up to the fact that you are. he would listen intently to your ramblings about what you had learned as you researched about the craft. sam would smile at your fascination with the moon and how much you love fall, being to see your face brighten when you see the leaves change and seeing you bundled up in your favorite brown jacket (that looks eerily similar to one in his closet) as you guys walk together hand in hand down the bustling streets of whatever town you guys are staying in for the time being.

jo would adore your silly and goofy nature! at first she'd thought that your attitude didn't match hunters at all but as you rolled through the roadhouse every so often, she found it refreshing. it was better than the gruff and brash personalities that floated in and out of the bar that she was used to and found that when you come in, a smile stretched on her face as you greeted her eagerly. from then the two of you attached to one another like glue. she can always tell when you’re at the roadhouse because of the brown jacket you always wear when your favorite season rolls around. jo loves when you get slightly tipsy enough to where you start to dance with her in the empty bar after closing to the old jukebox in the corner or when you accidentally slip into one of the languages you’re learning or fluent in. the two of you as best friends would probs make the world collapse if you spent everyday together.

⟡ (fre)nemy: dean winchester

okay i don't think you'd have any enemies in spn, but you and dean would def have a frenemy/bickering relationship with one another. at first, dean would find your optimism a little grating and just confusing because why would someone so optimistic be a hunter? he likes to pretend he's a serious hunter but we all know deep down he is a silly goofy guy and seeing that reflected in your personality makes him envious that he doesn't express it is often as he wants to. so in turn he either shuns you or makes some off-handed remarks about it. but in turn you would dish it right back at him, throwing him off but then you guys would devolve into a little bickering battle, only ending when sam has to interject like a referee and almost separate you guys (sam sends you guys to opposite sides of the motel to cool down). but after a bad hunt, you sit with dean in silence and things shifted between of you. the bickering wasn't out of malice but dean has to keep up appearances and can't show that he tolerates you (even though by the time the bickering is over, there's a small smile on his face). he'll never admit this out loud but he finds it cool that you know a lot of languages and that you are creative spirit (you gave him sketch of the impala and he still has it to this day even though he said he was going to throw it out).

oof ermm that is a tough question mari 😭😭. but for one FUCK OCTAVIAN im glad that little rat bastard died in blood of olympus LMAO (octavian got what he deserved) but other than him i don't really hate any characters in the pjo universe, but i mean i could also say the godly parents bc that's a given. but sally jackson is our queen! 🙌

when it comes to ships, most of them i like but there is one where it doesn't make sense in my mind lol which is leo and calypso? its not that i don't think leo could bag calypso, he literally did lol, but like we've seen leo's perspective in the books and mans would not benefit from a relationship. another than that i like any of the other ships that are canon or fanon. i'm not a huge shipper myself but i obvs love percabeth, solangelo, frazel, and jason x brick LOL.

Milestone

I recently hit 200,000 words over on AO3. I know some of you monsters manage this in one fic (!!!), but for me, averaging 300-1,000 words a pop, it's a surprise. And a delight, because I'm happy with all 200K of those words, one way or another. I do this for fun, and I've had plenty of it.

First date with Sam! We could be at some burger joint in town or a coffee shop and he’s so nervous a̶n̶d̶ ̶s̶w̶e̶a̶t̶y̶ and

Alright, I'm already almost two hours past my usual bedtime (nobody do the math, I go to bed at the same time as your grandparents and babies), BUT I would not sleep well without answering this lovely ask by this lovely person! <3 So unfortunately it's gonna be a quick one, but here's my vision:

CWs: nothing really, just first date jitters. 460 words

You look at Sam over the rim of your malt as he fidgets, scratches at his nose, seemingly not finding a comfortable position. He already almost spilled his Coke all over, only catching it at the last minute with his well honed hunter skills, which you complimented him on, making him fidget even more.

It's your first date. And Sam Winchester is terrified.

Oh yeah. The guy who hunts demons, kills vampires and, uhm, oh right, can sometimes move stuff with his brain. Yeah, that guy. You've seen Sam do things that would a navy seal look like a chump. But now he's here, the task of drinking pop and eating a burger staring him down - and he's behaving like a complete doofus.

"So, so, then how many kids does your sister have now?" he asks, managing to not bite his own tongue while he asks, which he has already done. You look at him, chin resting on your fist. You're positively swooning at the guy. But he acts like he's taking his SATs and driving test at the same time.

He has no idea how bad you already want him. Maybe telling him would release him from his suffering. But it's just so adorable.

Just in that moment, a drop of sweat runs down his temple. An actual drop of sweat. He wipes at it, not subtle about at all.

"Three," you answer to his previous question. "But the truth is, I don't really want to talk about my sister, Sam." He raises his eyebrows, nods.

"Sure," he says, "what, uhm, what do you want to talk about?" You lower your chin, look to the side, like you're trying to make sure no one's listening. Then back at Sam. You extend your index finger, motion for him to come closer.

It's hard not to squeal when he actually does. He leans over the table, beautiful face attentive and you bring yours closer too, as if you're about to whisper something to him.

But that's not what you do. Instead you lean further in, then press your lips against his, quickly, before pulling back. When you do, you need to suck in your cheeks to contain your laughter.

Sam looks like someone slapped him. You could almost be offended, but then his expression changes, one corner of his mouth going up, and then the other. A breathtaking lopsided grin greets you.

"Anyway," you say, your fingers going to your straw, swirling your drink. You lick your lip, just a touch of salt from Sam's skin on there, while Sam leans back, seeming a little calmer.

"Yeah, anyway," he says, and then you're both just sitting there, grinning like fools, while you take another sip from your drink, the flavors mixing in your mouth.

Hi. I recently finished watching Coffee Prince based on a few recs posts that you had put out and MY GOD I'm so glad I decided to give it a try. (This was the first Kdrama where I got past 2 eps) I loved this sooo sooo much.

Do you have any recs for media (queer or otherwise) with similar strong characters as Eun-Chan? Even otherwise, thanks for your great rec posts!

Another Coffee Prince convert! Thank you for telling me, anon, it gives me so much joy every time someone gets to experience it for the first time. And I am not surprised Go Eun Chan captured your heart, everyone who meets her feels the same.

Since I don't know exactly what about Eun Chan captivated you, I am not entirely sure what kind of characters you are looking for. Is it her generosity of spirit? Is it that endearing mix of bravery and naïveté? Is it the way she keeps going through confusion and uncertainty? Is it that she is just so lacking in artifice and unapologetically herself? Or maybe it's her gender questioning journey that spoke to you.

Given that I am not precisely sure, I am just going to give you a mix of great dramas of various genres with strong characters that give me some aspect of that Eun Chan swag--feel free to come back and ask for more recs if you have something else in mind! In alpha order:

Be Melodramatic (Viki)

Shan found another excuse to rec Be Melodramatic? Must be a day ending in y. But seriously this drama is full of fantastic characters and there's a strong thread here about being yourself unapologetically and finding the people who love you for that.

Great Men Academy (grey)

Another character experiencing gender, but this time via a magical-unicorn-induced body transformation (don't ask I could not possibly explain it). This story is all about Love figuring herself out and the bisexual king who loves her in any body.

Healer (Viki)

Chae Yeong Shin is Park Min Young's best character ever and it's not close. She has a lot of Eun Chan's relentless spirit and optimism in the face of life's nonsense, and she's a spunky one. Healer is also just a great action romance with a lot of fun hijinks and a very swoony male lead, if you're into that kind of thing.

Joshi-teki Seikatsu (Life As A Girl) (grey)

Miki is an all-time great character. A trans woman rebooting her life away from home, she is more assured about who she is but has a lot of Eun Chan's core generosity and bravery. I love her so much.

Kieta Hatsukoi (Viki)

Chaotic confusion with a heart of gold, thy name is Aoki.

Koisenu Futari (grey)

Sakuko, my beloved. This show is about two people on the aroace spectrum connecting and finding companionship and family in each other, and it's so beautiful.

Light on Me (Viki)

Woo Tae Kyung is definitely sitting at the "unapologetically themselves" table with Eun Chan. And he has a love triangle, too!

My Lovely Sam Soon (Viki)

If you're up for an even older kdrama, I love this one to pieces. Kim Sam Soon has a lot in common with Go Eun Chan, in that she doesn't perform femininity the way people expect and she is trying to find her place in the world, all while crushing on a guy who feels very out of her league. This is a journey for both lead characters, and I was so moved by where they ended up that I burst into tears at the end.

She Loves to Cook and She Loves to Eat (Furritsubs)

My girls!!! I love every character in this show. I don't think it's possible to watch this drama and not find someone to connect with; it's all about exploring the many different ways to be a woman and finding the people who will love and respect you for who you are. And it's very queer while doing it!

Twenty-five Twenty-one (Netflix)

Na Hee Do is a legend, and not just because of the fencing. This show is her coming of age story and you will love her.

Weightlifting Fair Kim Bok Joo (Viki)

Kim Bok Joo, another heroine wrestling with her femininity as she navigates coming of age and changing relationships. She's fantastic.

kripke era just makes me insane. season 1 is sam's conflict between his fate and his family (azazel vs dean). season 2 is dean's conflict between his fate and his family (duty vs sam). season 3 is about sam trying to fix dean's big, fucked-up mistake (selling his soul to revive sam). season 4 is about dean trying to fix sam's big, fucked-up mistake (drinking demon blood to [try to] revive dean). seasons 3 and 4 also prove that when they lose their family, they will inevitably drive themselves straight down the path of their destinies (dean becomes the righteous man and breaks the first seal; sam drinks demon blood to become powerful enough to kill lilith and break the final seal). and season 5 is their mutual confrontation of fate and family.

every single time, the main conflict creates a dichotomy where their fates, the paths they're meant to walk down, are diametrically opposed to their family, their brother. and every time the brother is threatened, they have no choice but to succumb to their fates—family is the only thing preventing them from destiny's warpath. they choose each other and that alone is the only thing that can save them. fate and family can't coexist because they were always meant to be enemies on opposite sides of the battlefield. it's a regular old romeo and juliet sort of tale, when you think about it, and it's only through the power of their love that they can oppose the lives carefully laid out for them—deny thy father and refuse thy name. it's a timeless tragedy. it's a toxic romance. god, what a show.

So, you always screeched about being right, well you were proven wrong today. Shippers have finally the proof of SC kissing at the Paramore part of the Taylor Swift concert. Right there in public. Like a couple.

First of all, I don't screech, I growl, like the lioness that I am. I'm a Leo, after all. 🦁 Secondly, um, you mean, this? 👇 😂🙄

Those are screencaps from a video of the Outlander cast at the Taylor Swift concert last week in Edinburgh at Murrayfield. Apparently, the few remaining Extreme Shippers, who are holding on to their barnacle-ridden, long-sunken SamCait ship, have been given a life boat and think the ship is sailing again due to this. First, let me get this out of the way. HAHAHAHAHA 🤣😂. OMG, desperation, thy name is SamCait shippers. Sadly, there is a fairly new account on Tumblr that is led by an OG shipper returned from the bottom of the ocean to galvanize new shippers into thinking Sam and Cait are actually a secret couple. Try to keep up with the times, people, that's SO ten years ago. And, the Taylor Swift concert video is now being used as "proof" that Sam and Cait decided to finally "out" their "secret love" very publicly at a Taylor Swift concert of all places. Again, HAHAHAHAHA 🤣😂. Lord. You can't make this shit up.

Um, this looks like a cheek kiss to me, or even Cait leaning in close to Sam to tell him something, since the concert is obviously very loud.

Regardless, Cait was also kissing Sophie Skelton and John Hunter Bell. Is she in a secret relationship with them as well?

Here's the actual video. 👇 Of the Outlander cast, Sam is the tallest male there, Cait is the tallest female there. It's obvious they would stand behind everyone for most of the concert so that their costars could SEE. If not, they would have been blocking them. Duh.

Sam and Cait have known each other for 10 years. They are good friends and costars. They have a bond via their shared experiences on Outlander. In addition, they've fake f*cked onscreen for 10 years, they are a wee familiar with each other. And as I've said MANY times before, most actors are not like you and me. They are a different breed, they are touch-feely, and flirty. That's just the way it is in showbiz. That DOES NOT mean they are a couple in real life. Why must I have to keep explaining the OBVIOUS over and over again?

When I watch the video, ALL I SEE, is two friends and costars having fun together. But because Extreme Shippers have been waiting for Sam and Cait to "finally reveal their relationship," like it's the Second Coming of Christ or some shit, THIS video will now be used as "proof" that Sam and Cait "came out as a couple at the Taylor Swift concert."
