here is your reminder that all trauma is valid.
trauma is to do with how our brains process (or don't process) memories and experiences and that if something is traumatic for you then that is trauma.
it doesn't matter if you or someone else thinks it should be significant or not or if someone else went through the same thing and wasn't impacted by it. what matters is if it's significant to you and how it impacted you.
a huge part of recovering from trauma is allowing yourself to accept that you had it in the first place.
#I've been seeing a trauma informed therapist and its very enlightening#i spent so long denying that i had any form of trauma despite having all the symptoms because I've never experienced anything *that bad*#but it doesn't have to be one thing even. it can be a lot of little things that build up.#it doesn't matter if someone else went through the same thing and wasn't impacted by it. you where.#adhd#trauma#recovery#love letters to you

Reuniting with a distorted past.
Extra:(New personality tested gone wrong)
wanted to play with rin living in the aftermath aus aswell and had these drawings laying around to share so yay
Panel 1: Was buried alive.
Comic 1: Who are you supposed to be?
new friends
Comic 2: Misguided protection.
obito still sensing the warning signs of rin losing her temper. anyways they proceeded to be dragged into the ocean by rin like some sea monster
Comic 3: Finding out (Now what will you do?)
obito is harshly brought back from his delusions because now its not just kushina but rin too who he needs to ripped out the tail beast from
#naruto#naruto fanart#kakashi hatake#rin nohara#obito uchiha#naruto sukea#fanart#art#my art#sketch#drawing#digital art#hope i can add something new and if not may i shall add fuel to the fire for rin!! :)#So Rin loses ALL of her memories forever (kinda)#the only thing that remains for sure is the feeling of missing something that she'll never reach it again#she's alone and is left to roam directionless until she meets an elderly civilian that is also alone#she stays with her for a year+ but she passes away. But Rin with her new identity decides to walk forward (with love comes pain#but to love at all was the greatest thing to her.) She cherishes her new memories and won't let it stop her from moving on#inbetween this time frame she meets isobu in her mind after he gains enough form within her (who is also without memories)#Now WAY LATER she meets Sukea who looks like he's about to panic and she tries to help (which uh doesnt work too well)#but then Sukea joins her on her travels (sending minato an letter through his summons of rin being alive and forgetting the mission)#they both wander around (he doesnt know how to bring up their past) but then obito appears (always at the wrong times)#At first glance he's pissed but then realizes that this isnt fake AND its both the worse thing yet best thing to ever happen#Now Rin thinks she made two new friends who give her feelings of warmth but they both also reminded her of something old she thinks#PS Minato and Kushina are freaking out back in the village but can't do anything about it (Obito hasn't acted on his plans yet so yes)

fabian seacaster who with his fine hands for calligraphy gets into tattooing later in life.
it starts with stick and pokes, trying his hand at it after his experience with his horrific neck tattoo, wary of machines but comfortable under his own steady hands. small, dotted art of waves, of ships and eddies start to appear on his upper thighs, his ankles, fading as he gets a grasp on depth and technique slowly but surely.
and he dances, beautiful art created in the shapes he forms and that’s what he’s known for, but his friends are littered with small tattoos as he began practicing on other people. a growing garden forming around gorgug’s singular rose, bits and pieces of his sketchbook that fig requested as she filled out her sleeve, calligraphy filling in the spaces left between riz’s myriad of tattoos, nearly all of the bad kids have something of fabian’s on them.
he takes a season off, a slip on stage making him need to take a rest as his ankle heals, and apprentices at a shop in leviathan near the gold gardens, wanting to learn, to be closer to fig, to try something totally his own for once, not his fathers or mothers or inherently tied to his culture, just his. just fabian’s.
he learns propper technique, unlearning some of his quirks he had picked up in being self taught, and learning how to use them for his advantage where he can. he learns the difference between tiefling and devil skin and why they have to use different sized needles for each, learns that swelling and irritation looks different on different skin tones and what inks will react well with certain magic users and which won’t. he learns to trust in the process and to bask in the look people get when they watch him create.
just. fabian as a tattoo artist
#sometimes an idea comes to you and it’s fully formed and you just gotta put it out there#this is also just a love letter to tattooing low key#d20#fhjy#dimension 20#fantasy high#fabian seacaster#fantasy high hc’s

I love that Elizabeth and Darcy are so ready to effectively tell each other they're full of shit. This happens a bunch of times, but I was re-reading their conversation at the Netherfield Ball and they're both kind of refreshingly Done.
[Darcy:] “Do you talk by rule, then, while you are dancing?” [Elizabeth:] “Sometimes. One must speak a little, you know. It would look odd to be entirely silent for half an hour together; and yet, for the advantage of some, conversation ought to be so arranged as that they may have the trouble of saying as little as possible.” [Darcy:] “Are you consulting your own feelings in the present case, or do you imagine that you are gratifying mine?” “Both,” replied Elizabeth archly; “for I have always seen a great similarity in the turn of our minds. We are each of an unsocial, taciturn disposition, unwilling to speak, unless we expect to say something that will amaze the whole room, and be handed down to posterity with all the éclat of a proverb.” “This is no very striking resemblance of your own character, I am sure,” said he.
It's also pretty funny, because I suspect Darcy is thinking of this sort of thing in a later conversation at Rosings:
“You mean to frighten me, Mr Darcy, by coming in all this state to hear me. But I will not be alarmed, though your sister does play so well. There is a stubbornness about me that never can bear to be frightened at the will of others. My courage always rises with every attempt to intimidate me.” “I shall not say that you are mistaken,” he replied, “because you could not really believe me to entertain any design of alarming you; and I have had the pleasure of your acquaintance long enough to know, that you find great enjoyment in occasionally professing opinions which, in fact, are not your own.”
#i love elizabeth cloaking what is obviously a specific personal insult in ostensible solidarity that is in fact the opposite of solidarity#but also that darcy completely sees through it and just says so (then and implicitly later on)#and later in the netherfield ball conversation#darcy actively warns her that she shouldn't form her opinion on him bc at the moment it won't reflect well on either of them#which he is completely correct about—yet he doesn't connect this w/ his assumptions about her encouraging him at all#then or later!#also i appreciate that no matter how many times they challenge each other through social mechanisms#it just never breaks through their mutual arrogance lmao#but it builds until they reach the point where they just drop the bullshit altogether and say exactly what they think and believe#and doing /that/ with each other is what catapults the other one onto their respective character arcs#(w/ the hunsford scene and darcy's letter)#anghraine babbles#long post#austen blogging#fitzwilliam darcy#elizabeth bennet#otp of otps#pride and prejudice#jane austen

one of my favorite kinds of doodle: take the letters that spell out the name of a thing and use them to create the shape of that thing!!! (if you can't read any of these, they will be written out below <3)
going top down, left to right:
bone; butterfly; bee; joy; moth
kitty cat; snail; love; spongebob squarepants
eye; puppy dog; candy; wally darling; dolphin
hand; the element of kindness; lollypop; pencil
#dandy's doodles#word art#<- is that what it's called?#spongebob squarepants#fluttershy#wally darling#kin#not heavily tagging those guys cuz it seems unnecessary#anyway. i started doing this after being inspired by an artist friend at school#who would do this with the word fish and draw it everywhere (including the school desks!)#the first design i made was the bone one. and now i just love to doodle like this#it's such a fun exercise of creativity - in both drawing and writing letters#which letters will go where in the shape? how much can i distort this letter and still have it recognizable?#the shape and the letters then go hand in hand to form meaning#even if a letter is a bit squashed and misshapen you can still read it based on the word the shape represents#like yeah the b in bone looks really weird but you can tell it's a b because it's a bone#and the same goes for the d in hand#i think the hardest to read is moth. it was so hard to squish the letters in there#i'd recommend trying this out!!#a nice and challenging exercise is using a more complicated shape with a longer phrase#that's what i did with fluttershy and that turned out really cool!!! well i think so anyway :]

One of my most deeply-held beliefs on culture is that somewhere out there there is a 27yo with a crinkled non-binary flag in the corner of their room, more mugs and dirty plates in their sink than bricks in the tower of Babel, less than 70 of god's own dollars in their bank account to finish the month and five dying plants on the windowsill, crusty stuff in the corner of their eyes, who has crafted a world of aching beauty Tolkien and Homer could only ever dream of, a vision that honours all that is noble and raw in the heart of Man, a vindication of existence and a balm to suffering, all for the benefit of a half-dozen harem pants wearers on a server named "Bingus' Grotto"
#To be clear this a love letter to my DM the elusive and recluse ''N''#who from the remote Galapagos Islands has been for the past three years guiding us in an adventure that mixes#the paintings of david caspar friedrich; the writings of jacques abeille; the visions of darwin; the zany adventures of oda#the rhythm and language of Juan José Saer; characters worthy of Dumas and Sfar; dialogue like Chandler...#and a million other influences converging on what I must admit#is the purest form of love I have experienced from someone who is neither a lover nor family#love you ''N''

Hi! I am an ardent fan of your writing, and I hope to be as sorted and planned as you some day in my own writing journey.
My question is: you have a keen eye when it comes to planning character personality, dynamics, and such. I've also been wading through your ask replies, and your insights into how you write people and how you make them play off of each other is so wonderful to read. If it's not too personal a q, how did you learn how to write like this? Did you go to school for writing, does it come from years of observing people, do you have reading list recs for "how to write real people and real interactions"?
Thanks! This is a really flattering question. I'll try to answer it honestly, because I wish someone had been brutally honest about this with me when I was a young writer.
I didn't go to school for writing. I started doing it when I was about nine years old. It sucked very badly. I kept writing throughout high school, and it still mostly sucked, but some of it was occasionally interesting. ("Interesting" here does not mean "good," by the way.) I took a break in college, and then came back. I've been writing ever since. Sometimes, I feel good about it. A lot of the time, I don't!
I hate giving this advice, because I remember how it feels to get it, and it's the most uninspiring, boring-ass, dog shit advice you can get, but it's also the only advice that is 100% unequivocally true: you have to write, and specifically, you have to write things that suck.
I do not mean that you should make things that suck on purpose. I mean that you have to sit down and try your absolute hardest to make something good. You have to put in the hours, the elbow grease, the blood, sweat, and tears, and then you have to read it over and accept that it just totally sucks. There is no way around this, and you should be wary of people who tell you there is. There is no trick, no rule, no book you can buy or article you can read, that will make your writing not suck. The best someone else can do is tell you what good writing looks like, and chances are, you knew that anyway — after all, you love to read. You wouldn't be trying to do this if you didn't. And anyone who says they can teach you to write so good it doesn't suck at first is either lying to you, or they have forgotten how they learned to write in the first place.
So the trick is to sit there in the miserable doldrums of Suck, write a ton, and learn to like it. Because this is the phase of your path as an artist when you find what it is you love about writing, and it cannot be the chance to make "good writing." This will be the thing that bears you through and compels you to keep going when your writing is shit, i.e., the very thing that makes you a writer in the first place. So find that, and you've got a good start.
Some people know this, but assume that perseverance as a writer is about trying to get to the point where you don't suck anymore. This is not true, and it is an actively dangerous lie to tell young writers. You are not aiming to feel like your writing doesn't suck. You are aiming to write. You are aiming to have written. Everything else is dust and rust. And of course, you'll find things you like about your pieces, you'll find things you're proud of, you'll learn to love the things you've made. But that little itch of self-criticism, in the back of your brain — the one that cringes when you read a clunky line, or thinks of a better character beat right after it's far too late to change — that's never going away. That's the Writer part of you. Read Kafka, read Dickens, read Tolstoy, you will find diary entries where they lament how absolutely fucking atrocious their writing was, and how angry they are that they can't do better. A good writer hates their sentences because they can always imagine better ones. And the ability to imagine a better sentence is what's going to make you pick up the pen again tomorrow. And the day after that. And the day after that.
Which is what I mean, and probably what all those other annoying, preachy advice-givers mean, when we say: a good writer is just someone who writes every day. It's that easy, and that hard.
#by the way a lot of this draws on ideas inspired by 'letters to a young poet' by rainer maria rilke if you're interested#that's a formative text for me as an artist#it won't teach you how to write but it will teach you how to think perhaps#and once you know how to think. well. life is just pretty good#and i can't say the writing gets easier but when life is pretty good i find myself enjoying it a lot more#this word vomit was prompted by the question 'how do you write real people and real interactions'#because that's like — i'm not trying to be pedantic but—#that's kind of just 'how do you write literature'?#because that's all literature is. what are human beings? how do you write a person? how do they interact with each other?#like shoutout to the void if you know for sure how to write real interactions then please for the love of god tell the rest of us#because i think most of all authors in history have just been giving it our best stab#'this is how the world looks for me. is it how the world looks for you?'#so my advice on that score is: try to see how the world looks for you#and then try to share it with me#don't worry about whether it looks the same for me. it won't
