Let's talk about after-school chapter 28!

I had assumed this interaction was what made Teru, our king of pettiness, go "You know what? I think I won't exorcise your evil spirit problem. Perish."

But?? Akane already had stiff shoulders at the start of their talk?? And Akane waited until it was near the end of their student council time to brag about his 'date' with Aoi.

Meaning Teru just let Akane carry the embodiment of stress and hatred on his back during their entire student council time??

I can't fathom why? This was not an 'I trust Akane to handle it' case, not when Teru was the one who enchanted his glasses so he know better than anyone how vulnerable to supernatural Akane becomes with it, and telling myself Teru needed to wait for the supernatural to feed on Akane to grow when this guy is a pro exorcist also feels like an excuse.

Maybeeee Teru was morbidly curious as to how Akane would fight the feeling?

Speculations on the insane decision to let Akane be haunted aside, their conversation is a trainwreck, shout out to how Teru instinct upon hearing Akane got a date is that his buddy is hallucinating.

I get his skepticism tho, pre-severance Akane you are... A lot.

Teru knowing Akane well enough to translate his stammers of a pathetic creature into "Why are you here?" is beautiful, bro is better at his side gig (pester akane) than his main job (be an exorcist) today.

Aoi's "I know a liar when I see one. let's indulge him anyways" she truly is a kind soul.

Speaking of said liar, I love that Teru doesn't have a basket or shopping cart.

Fascinated by the way Teru blushes. He seems to be more hung up on being called 'bad' than anything, but he definitively liked being reprimanded, he is still blushing when he walks instead of displaying the dejection of the convenience store.

He doesn't even give up on his quest to make her buy veggies.

Teru, you're doing horrible sweety, keep pestering her and you two will be inseparable in no time <3

Love how Akane snapped out of the curse's first attempt to make him spiral by refusing to be on the same level as Hanako.

He is so arrogant "What am i a loser? A pathetic toilet loser? Nah nah, I am better than that." like damn, okay bro.

I can't believe he pushed back against a curse by the sheer power of self-confidence and determination though, he is built differently. 90% of the characters in this manga cannot relate.

Love how Teru probably didn't suggest a single flower for Aoi to buy, trying to test if he could sneak even one vegetable into her basket, so his closeness to Aoi just made Akane's petunia suggestion look that much more thoughtful in comparison (she does look very happy to be given an actual flower).

Rest in peace Teru you suck at sabotaging.

(Or he would suck if that was the goal! He stuck around for this entire hangout despite how rare his free time is. He got his ice cream, he even walked Aoi home, he just want to hang out. Same vibe as when he went "Oh aoi come with me to the festival, Akane will be there")

I find Teru's zoned-out face so cute.

There is no speech bubble to Terukane's first panel here, but i am 95% sure Teru was the one who asked to be notified about Aoi's gardening progress considering the '...' contrasting Akane's enthusiasm. Love that for him, yes talk to Aoi, get close to this closed off girl.

I am still not over Teru just letting him carry this curse.

But now I really doubt he did it specifically to torture Akane, cause Teru likes helping Akane as much as he enjoys annoying him.

I wonder if he is proud of Akane for not acting on any of the negative feelings he was being fed, cause Teru looks genuinely happy here! It's a far cry from his usual 'bullying you relax me' or 'i am petty' kind of smiles.

...I may be biased but I am throwing my "Teru didn't exorcise the monster for this long to have an excuse to be hanging out with the Aois while tecnically doing his job." idea here. We do get a heavy confirmation he could have done something before and wanted to third wheel after all.

1 — “have you spoken to the cincinnati bengals and what would it mean to reunite with joe burrow there?” — “i have talked to the bengals. i don’t know how many times i’ve talked to them though. but, me and joe, you know, i wouldn’t mind going back with joe. if we go back together we’re trying to do nothing but get back our chemistry and have some more fun.”

A portrait from the days of bliss

There is a portrait of Feanáro with his three sons, painted very shortly after the Silmarils had been finished. Maedhros was an adult already, Maglor was what in human terms would be a teenager, and Celegorm was a toddler. (Nerdanel and Finwë were away, visiting friends for a couple weeks)

There is, of course, the version of it that up to this day hangs in Tirion, after being taken from the abandoned Formenos. The official, well-composed, well-behaved painting.

But there's also another version. For, you see, it was in fasion in those days, to paint portraits that looked spontanous, as if somehow capturing a moment, intimate and unplanned. They often were composed of many moments, many expressions of personality that occured during the painting.

In the painting, as it was planned by Feanor, he is in the back, towering over his sons (Maedhros isn't much taller than his father, but isn't much shorter either, so a step was used to achieve the composition. The room is dark, but obove the prince there is a window, letting in the bright radiance of Laurelin, so that Feanor is in parts bright like a flame, and in parts covered in deep shadows. This is true for both paintings.

But in the unknown portrait his face is angry, captured mid-sentence as he was probably berating his sons.

Only Maedhros is well-behaved, standing calm in the front-center with his left hand at Maglor's arm (assuredly? threateningly?). The truesilver circlet bearing the gem (all three have such circlets) sits properly on his head, and his hair is well-braided, tied high with a crimson ribbon (who made it?), braids falling like lava a cascade from the top of his hair. The only spontaneity here is his right hand raised to fix the hair, the ribbon caught by a gust of wind, raised up, twirling at his wrist, messy and breaking the composition, the other end of it falling on his forehead, dying the light of the Silmaril red.

Maglor is standing there turned half to the side, rolling his eyes and clearly unhappy to be in the portrait. His hair is a wavy mess, half-braided, falling onto the circlet so that the light piercing through is dark, almost greenish even though his hair is dark brown.

Little Tyelco has a bird in his hand (how did he get a songbird into the portrait without his father noticing is not known), had the circlet in his other hand and very clearly tried to eath both, but at the moment captured by the painter the bird has just pecked him, the circlet is falling down (with droplets of saliva sparkling in the air) and Tyelco has the peculiar expression of a child that is just about to cry.

The other portrait shows them all standing proud and smiling and, to be honest, this is what they did for most of the time (first tyelco got pecked, some time after Maglor got visibly bored, and their father started berating him for complaining)

There is a portrait of Feanáro with his three sons, painted very shortly after the Silmarils had been completed, by a painter who had, to be honest, more foresight than manners. But not many have ever seen it.

I feel like Ser Criston would be very offended to know how highly Senya thinks of Rhaenyra and Ser Harwin and he’ll resort to outlandish plots to become the favorite haha

oh senya loves ser harwin! she loves her sister so much! senys spends so much time away from her brothers and with jace (because jace makes her feel warm and safe! just like her sister <3) that she is always around ser harwin.

he's always carrying her and calling her "little princess" fondly and it makes her giggle, she proudly proclaims to anyone who listens that ser harwin is her favorite knight! and ser criston takes that personally.

of course, senya loves ser criston too, alicent is extremely attached to senya so it's only natural that she sees ser criston often but she doesn't like the look he gives her eldest sister so she's less close to him than ser harwin.

criston takes it so personally that he waits until senya is there and watching and then he eggs harwin into beating him up just to prove to senya that ser harwin is nothing more than a brute.

it has the opposite effect, senya is much more concerned about ser harwin, she's never seen him so angry before! she cowers behind her mother and whispers "is ser harwin alright? he's so upset! he's never upset!"

alicent is so angry that they're upsetting her precious child. rhaenyra has a maid bright senya to her to say goodbye before harwin leaves.

"you're leaving...?" senya looks up at him with teary eyes, clutching a bundle of flowers in her hands. "I... I'll miss you too much! my favorite knight can't leave!" she insists, small hands clutching at his clothes.

"goodbyes aren't forever, little princess. I'll return and i will send letters, won't that be fun?" he asks, trying to cheer her up.

"yes, won't it be fun, sweet sister?" rhaenyra, presses her hand on senya's shoulder softly as she sniffles and buries her face in ser harwin's clothes.

"I... i was going to save these flowers for jace! but you can have them! so you can remember me!" senya insists, happy that ser harwin takes the flowers.

she's said to see him go and she lets rhaenyra hug her softly as she affectionately leans into her sister.

rumors later said that ser harwin died clutching onto a bundle of flowers. hearing that, senya wept in her mother's embrace.

I find it so fucking funny how they managed to make Naga a better mother than Sothis. Hell, a bunch of people were convinced that Naga was an evil abusive parent. And Sothis just comes in and takes that title.

TBF it's hard to best Sothis at the "worst parent" title, even if, as some people pointed out, we're stuck with gremlin!Sothis and not "complete!Sothis" who would supposedly give more fucks about her kids than the gremlin...

And yet, gremlin!Sothis is the one the Fodlan devs included in their games, hell, Heroes can come up with young!gotoh, kid!azura and Nils' lizard form, and yet, they can't bend the canon to give Sothis an alt where she'd give a fuck about her living children!

Sure, there's the duo alt that was released this year, but it's a far cry from what Naga expresses for Tiki in this current banner, that is purely speculation because, hell, in their base games, Naga is already dead and Tiki doesn't specifically mention how she and her mom used to be close (at least, afair?).

-> FEH can cook an AU where young!Naga and bby!Tiki hang out together, hell where Duma'n'Naga participate in Dragon!Ween with Naga, but even the FEH devs can't cook an alt or an AU where Sothis gives actual fucks about her children !

Special mention to Fallen!Billy's video, where they tried to cook some "Sothis is pissed because her children were massacred" that is, as far as we know, not the canon reason why she was pissed in Nopes, but bar that? Nothing.

-> The devs choose to write Sothis as a mom who dgaf about her kids - or gives minimal fucks in the duo unit - in FEH aka a game where characters reunite with their loved ones and spend time together when they couldn't in their respective canon universes.

Sure, Naga caring about Tiki in this situation is not canon because it's FEH and this banner is pure "AU" verse, so in a way, you could make a point that this may be a retcon, but painting Naga as the most abusive or toxic parent when Sothis exists is something lol

I haven't drawn much out yet, but I do see him being not exactly perfect with this (he does tumble along, says some insensitive stuff, really doesn't get Sanji for the longest time because they communicate badly) but! When shit hits the fan he is there! And of all the strawhats I think he'd be the most quiet/calm/stalwart support there is. (And Zoro is definitely pro choice, I do see him as someone for whom it's as simple as 'he doesn't want this so it's not gonna happen'.) With alllllll the other things they argue about, this should be a huge fight. But it doesn't happen - not here, and not about that.

More rambling about Wild Kratts Game Lore bc I can

On today's episode of "shit about the flash games that I am probably the only person alive to care to notice," let's look at a certain pattern in the tutorials that, whilst it may seem minor, may actually reflect something about the overall website (and if you have no clue what the f*ck I'm talking about, feel free to stay, it's so much funnier that way)

Ok so let's look at the first wave of flash games made by Chocolate Liberation Font (the dev-team behind them). In the tutorials of these games, (i.e. Cheetah Racer, Ride on Remora, Caracal Leap, Draco Glide, Kickboxing Kangaroo, ect), one of the Kratt Brothers would introduce the animal and objective before activating their Creature Powers. When they do so, we see a close-up of their shirt (oddly enough without the suit or gloves??), and we see the buttons on the Creature Power Suit with the Creature Disc insignia in the same color as the suit itself.

You get the picture.

Now let's move on to the games that were added to the website in 2012 by Pixelpusher; Flower Flier, (R.I.P.) Croc Hatch, Frogfish Feast, Aardvark Town, and Web-tastic!; The Wild Kratts Creature Math Suite that collectively made up a quintilogy game, Creature Roundup. These games features new animals and new Creature Powers, 3/5 of which were featured in Season 2 of Wild Kratts which had recently premiered on PBS Kids at the time. Like before, the Kratt Brothers introduce the creature, the objective and Activate Creature Powers. However, here is one difference;

When the screen zooms in on the Creature Power Suit post-activation, we can see the physical Creature Power Disc itself over where the PowerSuit button/creature insignia would be. Regardless of the disc's color, it would show up. As shown below in Exhibit B.

Quite the difference eh?

But wait, it gets even more fun.

In 2013, two games, Dolphin Dive, and Slither Run, also done by Pixelpusher, are released. They're not affiliated with the Math Suite, but are in the same league as them. In the tutorials where the brothers activate their Creature Power Suits, you realize that, just like in the games developed by Chocolate Liberation Font, the close-ups of the buttons don't have any overlays of the disc (using Slither Run here because Dolphin Dive wasn't a good enough example)

Put a pin in this, because this becomes relevant later.

Let's redirect ourselves to the habitats. You probably remember exploring the habitats, finding and learning about different animals, unlocking photos, and adventuring with the Creature Powers earned from the games. The site was updated to include some new habitats and Creature Powers, but let's exactly look into the details of that, shall we?

Here are the available Creature Powers to use in the habitats to unlock the photos for your adventure journal in the character creator page, Your Room. Rattlesnake Power, Draco Lizard Power, Cheetah Power, Kangaroo Power, Caracal Power, Squirrel Power, Firefly Power, Dolphin Power, and Remora Power.

Now, you may notice that the Creature Power Suits from the Math Suites (Hummingbird Power, Crocodile Power, Frogfish Power, Aardvark Power, and Spider Power) are missing here. In fact, they're not in any way able to use in the habitats. They (along with Dolphin Power and Rattlesnake Power) are also absent amonst the assortment of Creature Powers to use in the supergame, Habitat Rescue Game.

This is where I pull stuff out of my ass cause I'm fcking crazy everything comes together.

Notice how the only Creature Powers that aren't available to use in the habitats are Creature Powers that the brothers use in the games where the physical discs are displayed on the buttons. The only ones available to play are ones where the button is visible when the brothers activate that particular Creature Power.

Conversely, none of the Creature Power Suits from games developed by Chocolate Liberation Font have PowerSuit photos that the user can take with a camera once they complete Level 5. Only the games added by Pixelpusher (this includes the Math Suite, Dolphin Dive, and Slither Run) are, and 5/7 of those games are where the physical disc is placed over the button. Slither Run and Dolphin Dive are anomalies from this pattern, but the majority rules (especially since they were added in post after the Math Suite).

But wait. It gets even deeper.

You know how I said in the assortment of games where the physical discs are present in the tutorials, Dolphin Dive, and Slither Run are anomalies in terms of games that had unlockable photos in levels? You know what pattern they aren't anomalies of?

Yeah, the Habitat Rescue Game at the beginning of this post wasn't just bc the game is fucking peak (based on a show that's fucking peak). None of the 7 Creature Powers from Pixelpusher's update to the website appear in the supergame Habitat Rescue. Not a single. One. And none of the Creature Powers available in Habitat Rescue are from games where you can unlock a photo in the site from directly finishing Level 5.

In case this has been way too complex, let me break it down *Activates Lawe's Parotia Power*

Creature Power Discs earned from games where the physical disc is not shown on the Power Suits after the activation in the tutorial are available in Your Room and the habitats.

Creature Power Discs earned from games in which the physical disc is visible over the Power Suit button in the tutorials are available in Your Room, but NOT in the habitats or Habitat Rescue Game.

Creature Power Discs earned from games in which you must complete Level 5 to earn the PowerSuit Photo and Badge, regardless if they physically appear on the Creature Power Suit in the tutorial, do not appear in the supergame.

None of the games that show the physical button of the suit have collectible photos from directly playing Level 5, BUT all of them that do are available to access in Your Room, the habitats, and Habitat Rescue Game.

CONCLUSION: Whilst there are many anomalies and errors in the structures or patterns of the original flash version of the online Wild Kratts website (I'm sure many of you noticed the duplicate Martins in the Aardvark Town tutorial Jesus Christ), some of these inconsistencies have consistencies in their inconsistencies, even if it wasn't the developers' intention. With this, you could logistify several appearances or absences of certain Power Discs in certain games or pages. And to those of you, who like me, grew up with the flash games and were confused as to why you couldn't access all 14 Creature Powers in the habitats or in Habitat Rescue, hopefully this observation could provide good enough answers and closer after a decade.
