We stand for the flag!!! (Unlabelled loutermilch)
Funny story is that our loutermilch was unlabeled by some time until he decided to label himself (very vaguely bc he's not strong about his labels) as bihet so we literally stand for unlabelled loutermilch
- apple vinaigrette/fritters
OH!
actually, I meant Alistair is the unlabeled one in my post! ^^;
but heck- I guess they can both be unlabeled!
I just meant that loutermilch is "canon gay" because:
a quite popular headcanon for outlast 2, is that Blake is a closeted homosexual? and people like to use demon loutermilch's comments as proof- (you know, those remarks about him being "confused" and the literal stab where he called him a "diseased c*cksucker")
which?? yes, I can get where they're coming from?? but I think using loutermilch's comments is a bit of a stretch?
I mean yeah, to en extend, the demon loutermilch is a physical representation of Blake's guilt and inner struggle, which could mean that those comments are just himself talking-
however- I think projecting these comments onto Blake ONLY is just thinking it through halfway!
I mean, look- loutermilch was making "you're confused" remarks, not only during the over-the-top school dreams, but also during the realistic encounter! (the one that seems like it's literally just a straight forward memory) which means those aren't just Blake's inner guilt speaking, those are actual comments loutermilch made towards kid Blake!
and heck, call me crazy- but I think loutermilch is projecting a little-
let's take this line:
"- where you can think about the taste of her kiss as you felt her neck break you diseased c*cksucker!"
excuse me sir, but Blake was NOWHERE near enough to hear Jessica's neck do anything! during the scene where blake "witnessed jess' death" he didn't actually witness jack sh*t! but you know who was close enough? loutermilch himself! and even if he means the point where her already dead body was being hung and her neck broke (even more) THEN- well, loutermilch is the only one strong enough to lift her, so he would be the only one capable of hearing the neck mangle!)
and the "taste of her kiss" thing? yeah- is it really that much of a stretch to assume that the line that begins with projection also ends with projection?
that's honestly what most, if not all, of loutermilch's insults and jabs towards blake amount to! projection!
Blake may be a closeted homosexual, but so is Loutermilch! and the only reason why nobody entertains that possibility, is because nobody wants to think about this character further than his actions! (which is just?? ASDFGHJKL-)
tl;dr : loutermilch is a closeted homosexual, most likely raised with discriminatory believes and is projecting his own hatred over those feelings onto a literal child who he's also framing for a murder he himself committed- SOMEBODY GIVE THIS MAN A THERAPIST

I found something interesting the other day while I was playing (interesting to me, at least). I always thought you had to run around this section (The School Roof) with your camera/microphone out. However, after you get pulled in, you can idle for about 3:20 (I used the stop watch on my phone to get a rough estimate) and the game will automatically trigger this sequence.

kinda hard to read so here yg:
“what if loutermilch was a genuine demon the entire time and only jessica and blake knew which would mean blake wasn’t hallucinating him as a demon”

Well, I hope Outlast 2 DLC comes out quick.
It was rumoured it will be called Outlast: Excommunication. That sounds like a nifty title. Though it’s just a rumour.
There are also some other things that bug me that I may address in my own fanfiction but would be good to bring to DLC. If DLC of Outlast follows 2 characters it would make more sense. Firstly, it can follow Lynn Langermann. We know Blake’s thoughts and feelings about Jessica. We don’t know Lynn’s ones. When Blake mentions Jessica Lynn gives a pretty ‘cryptic’ and ‘casual’ sort of smile and says “I haven’t thought about her in ages.” I actually doubt this statement. Seeing Blake says that Lynn treated Jessica as a little sister it would be possible Lynn knows things that Blake doesn’t know about.
I have a feeling that Lynn also knew that Jessica was being abused by Loutermilch or that suspected it. Jessica may have told her and not to tell anyone. Does he feel guilty when Jessica dies? Yes. Perhaps, she too like Blake, is ashamed. In fact, she may even know Blake knows a bit and they both have been keeping this secret which, ultimately, brings a strain in their marriage and they don’t get sexually intimate for a long time. Both making up excuses not to engage in that way. This would mean Lynn may also encounter Loutermilch demon in a different way or who knows she may even encounter Jessica demon. Jessica as a girl tries to help her but a part of her, or the part that Lynn is afraid of what Jessica thinks of her and even the slightly flirty relationship with Blake may make a Jessica demon. This would bring out the psychological aspects of Outlast 2 but bring that side of the story out.
The other character they can follow is Jenny Roland. Jenny Roland appears in Outlast and she can have a role in The Towers. The Towers may be Zeichner facility. Her part of the story may actually encounter the the 3 Lucid Dreamers that were mentioned in Outlast:Whistleblower. This would be good because we can then see what and who are Lucid Dreamers. This also allow the Walrider to come back. However, this Walrider may be different than the one we met in Outlast. Knoth seems to talk to a Walrider like entity. I nicknamed this entity “Engorged Walrider” or “The Engorged.” It would be interesting to meet this creature head on as Zeichner Facility grows critical mass and we see the ending of Outlast 2 in a different way. It would be cool if we come across Blake holding nothing and Jenny going, “You don’t have baby, just come with me.” and the game ends.
I hope Outlast 3 is also in the works. And, this time, I hope it doesn’t take them so long to make Outlast 3. There was a 2 year gap to Outlast and Outlast:Whistleblower to bring Outlast 2. I don’t want a 2 year gap this time. I hope they get out Outlast 3 by 2019. Just wanna play the games and this Murkoff or Walrider chronicles. Then after finishing off with Murkoff, as a friend stated, they can make a new Outlast with new characters and situations.

i have a vehement hatred towards mumbles, the lu-lucious sin dream demon that chases Blake, not because its a disgusting nasty and often killed me during my play of Outlast.
I hate this asshole for his representation as a contorted, mangled, nightmare of the person responsible  for Jessica’s death. But it doesn’t stop there; that Father Loutermilch is a terrible guy - did terrible things to a child, then framed that child as a suicide; a massive sin to the church and its teachings. Literally, Loutermilch made Jessica out to be the villain. And no one questioned it - they accepted it at face value, “Oh, the Jessica girl? A suicide. That makes sense.”
And that one chase kills me - the one where you start with Jessica’s body, finding her on the stairs, and mumbles up above being the creepy fuck.  Because Blake runs - he has to run.  Not because he knows mumbles is deadly and will insta kill him, but on account how when Blake first encountered that nightmare in real life - way a long time prior - when he was a mere boy. He discovered his best-friend dead, at the hands of someone he trusted, a disciple of the church.
And maybe, I think, maybe at the time when Blake was a child there in that moment, he sensed Loutermilch would kill him too.  And Loutermilch may have been tempted to do so, since he was caught red handed, and Blake was old enough to understand, and be a credible witness.  Blake heard the screams, came to the source, and saw that Loutermilch did this crime; murdered his friend in cold blood. Blake had no choice.  He ran. Or he would be killed too.
But two dead children would be highly suspicious, and foul play would be suspect; an investigation might reveal more than the murders. Blake running and hiding gave Loutermilch time to chill out, think about what he would do - formulate the plan. Loutermilch ‘fixed’ the misunderstanding, between he and Blake; coaxed the scared child out of hiding, maybe even reestablishing some trust between them.  Loutermilch manipulated little Blake into believing, betraying his friend a second time, that Jessica did some sinful suicide on account of bad relations with her dad.
Loutermilch made Blake believe he was the villain here, that Blake had something to do with Jessica’s suicide - that Blake would be seen as an accomplice or some other implication that was scary to a confused, traumatized child.  And Loutermilch felt no remorse for his twisted actions.  But Blake did.
But we’re not done here. Loutermilch didn’t leave the church after Jessica’s death. Nope.  Still a free man, doing what he loved doing - his job, I mean. But he and Blake still had interactions; probably Blake was distanced and wanted nothing to do with Loutermilch.  Sometimes, Blake did hear Loutermilch pray, or imagined he heard Loutermilch pray to god regarding Jessica’s death. Loutermilch saw Jessica’s death as a worthy sacrifice, and thanked god for taking her.  But Loutermilch was also interested in ensuring Blake would never say a thing, and kept track of little Blake on the side. He simply had to be around, and Blake would stay silent - but the guilt and nightmares still haunted Blake.
Blake runs from the Loutermilch demon, because he is still that scared child, running from the monster that killed his friend.

Note
There are lots of implications that Blake is bisexual/gay and has suppressed homosexual urges. Such as the usage of ‘cocksucker’ in the weird demon dream world being used again him as well as the Father going from telling him he’s ‘not evil he’s just confused’ (gay urges?) to then calling him a ‘pervert’. Then him and Lynn having a difficult sex life (tho obviously he loves Lynn). Lots of phallic imagery. I personally h/c Blake as a suppressed bisexual with heavy homosexual leanings.
Valid as hell, tbh.
I would want to see Blake trapped in Silent Hill, even though the Catholic School flashbacks are sort of “his” Silent Hill. I want to see monsters based on his inner-demons (Loutermilch not withstanding.)

i feel like the issue of trager being a rapist— considering that we wouldnt even know that without reading the comic, and most casual players haven't— IS somewhat unnecessary information. at least in the sense that most people can accurately interpret his character without it. the comics didn't even begin until 3 years after the game was released, so obviously it wasn't strictly necessary, because if it were, outlast as a standalone game would be incomplete. it adds a layer of depth to his character, sure, but its a thin layer. anyone can gather that he's a monster just from playing the game, we don't really need the addition of rape to cement that for us. its trager.
and comparing it to the element of abuse in outlast 2 is just unfair imo. for starters because it's a really important aspect of the game, at least if you're talking about accurately interpreting characters. remember that the jessica we meet isn't "real," in the sense that when we see her, we aren't travelling back in time and experiencing it first-hand. the jessica we see is blake's subconcious interpretation of her— she's a memory, and memories are always distorted in a way relevant to the person who experienced them. anything we learn from those dreams tells us not just about jess's trauma, but about blake's.
id also like to point out that "religious trauma" isnt the main purpose of showing jess's story. i feel like those words are so overused and misunderstood. blake is already lapsed when we meet him; his struggle throughout the game is not with religion itself. the weight of his trauma is not strictly about god, it is mostly very intimate, and that's a major point of contrast in the main story. temple gate is not ashamed of their vulgarity— to suffer is to perform, and punishment is a spectacle, almost a fetish to them. its a huge difference from blake's upbringing, where guilt and shame precede the injustices, the punishments, and are suffered in silence.
anyway, the point is that illustrating religious trauma is not the goal with blake or jess. her implied abuse, or rather, blake's repressed knowledge of it, is not just an insignificant addition for shock factor— its a major part of the story. everything you learn through blake's eyes changes how you can interpret it, how you can interpret blake. i mean, jessica's father is implied to be a difficult guy, but we could argue that there's no implication of physical abuse– until you see the cigarette burns on jess's body and clothes. a small, unnecessary detail, maybe, but it makes a difference, because every detail about her that you learn is something that matters to blake, something he saw, knew, buried, and then remembered again. its a window into his own psychological deterioration, his guilt eating him from within— it comes from inside him, not just the town and its crosses.
the implication of CSA is equally important to this entire theme of guilt and repression— personally i dont really see anything making sense otherwise, which is why im glad its at least implied and not explicit. (which is why i dont see how that of all things could be considered unnecesary— the heretics' entire existence has less of an explanatory contribution to the story than it. i like them, but they exist as a shallow additional conflict, a convenient tyer of loose ends + filler of time.) implications leave you room to ask and answer your own questions. i.e., why else would fr. loutermilch's demonic form be a naked, multi-armed monster who kills you by pinning you to the floor and sticking its tongue down your throat? it is molestation personified. even still, why is it so explicit now, and why is it directing this at blake?
you can interpret it in different ways— maybe his guilt over knowing & hiding what really happened to jess has been mutating in his subconcious for some time now, drawing from imagery he has seen as an adult. or maybe it implies that blake was abused, too, in order to keep him quiet. i mean there's even what can be seen as a subtle strain on blake and lynn's relationship, and trauma of that nature can absolutely affect a person's navigation of intimacy well into adulthood.
personal violation is a major theme in outlast 2, thats been said by the producers themselves. taking away your physical integrity, forcing discomfort on you. it is excessive in the way that the previous game was, sure, gore wise. but story wise?? to dismiss such a serious amount of information on a protagonist? before murkoff??? i mean, we know next to nothing about miles's life before. same with trager— he's entertaining as hell, but still just a two dimensional villain. but this gives us so much about blake. everyone is so hungry for information on everybody else, everyone tossing around awful interpretations of the most hollow characters when blake is right there!!!! and i know, the topic can be uncomfortable and triggering, but considering how non-explicitly it is expressed (at least irt jess), its much harder to just. dismiss its relevance than if we were debating the point of seeing the pilot tied to a pole with his whole dick and balls out. sorry wow that was a lot of words
I don’t condone certain aspects of the Outlast lore (namely the jessica thing i think it could have been done better and CSA didn’t rlly have to be a part of it to show religious trauma but i get it when you look at the big picture of Outlast and Outlast 2, it just could have been infinitely less graphic and still held the same weight) but literally it’s going too far saying shit like FOR EXAMPLE “making Richard Trager a rapist was unnecessary” Id argue it’s one of the only characters that like actually makes sense from a lore perspective and if you rlly get the character you’d understand why it makes sense. Idk how to say this without sounding like it’s a feature i enjoy about the character, I obviously don’t but like i cannot stand seeing my favorite characters misinterpreted and along with Eddie, Trager is one of the most misinterpreted characters in Outlast. He literally has 0 reedemable qualities, he’s an outright rich prick who never had to face any consequences his entire life, he’s been privileged since the day he was born, and anyone who tries to act like he has a good bone in his body is so wrong. I hate to say it (no i don’t lol) but he’s just plain evil and i love him for it. He’s not real, his actions have never hurt a real person please keep that in mind. The main story wouldn’t have happened the way it did if he never did what he did, they’d have to come up with a whole other backstory for him AND a reason women were removed. It’s a horror game with dark, explicit subjects due to the fact that they’re exploring such a unique subject, with characters who are mentally ill, affected by the engine, both or just plain terrible people and it obviously would have things that may trigger or make people uncomfortable, and that has to be up to you to decide to not think about it or indulge into content that might do those things. Do not bring cancel culture into fucking Outlast, do not try to babyproof it. Go watch other forms of media with lighter subjects and characters instead of acting like it’s the developers fault for creating characters and plotlines with the whole point to scare people, shock them, make them uncomfortable, etc or remaking the characters into something they’re not bc it doesn’t fit your idea of them. Rant over if I see one more person misinterpret Richard Trager i will start taking peoples eyes. (also more rants abt Rick’s character coming be prepped)

We’re apart of a fandom that includes rapists, murderers, blasphemers, people who abuse and assault the mentally impaired, the exploitation of criminally insane or mentally ill, physically disfigured etc.
Our villains are rapists and murderers and cannibals and are just flat out cruel.
To choose a character who takes no part in any of that would leave you with just the protagonists. To choose to RP with characters who would just murder someone leaves you with RPing with the Twins, Chris Walker, Marta and maybe a select others.
Eddie mutilates and rapes people.
Papa Knoth torments, rapes and kills the offspring
Jeremy Blaire was not above potentially raping and hurting Waylon’s wife.
The world is full of shit horrible people. These games are filled with shit horrible people. And yes, Loutermilch is exactly that. He’s a monster. He’s a devil and a demon and a horrible, disgusting human being I don’t deny that.
The difference is we got to see Knoth’s horrible actions. We got to see Jeremy’s horrible actions. We got to see Eddie’s horrible actions and read it. First hand. Boom, right in front of us.
We didn’t get to see anything of Loutermilch except a fuzzy fever dream brought back as a twisted memory prompted by the morphogenic engine of something Blake witnessed as a little boy. Loutermilch could be the demon he was shown as in game, or he could be the more innocent of the antagonists listed.
In this game, Blake is a very unreliable narrator.
I suppose my answer as to why I chose Loutermilch is that we know nothing about him. There are thousands of possibilities as to what the truth is behind Father Loutermilch. And to be honest, there are much worse characters in this game that I could have chosen to play.
If they had shown Eddie sawing people up and fucking his seed into them to make a family, I’m sure there’d be more people against him.
Same with Knoth.
