New Sam take just dropped: watching your Mom burn to death at 4 doesn’t count as real trauma

*record scratch* freeze frame. Reality Check. "You're the one who came and got me at school. You're the one who dragged me back into this." let's re-evaluate that statement, Sam, because that is not, in fact, what happened.

The context in which Sam makes this statement is that he's arguing Dean used to care about the revenge quest and killing the demon because Dean is the one that came and got Sam and thus "dragged him back" into the quest to kill the demon. But, that is not why Dean went to get Sam at school, it was to find John, who was missing and possibly dead. Dean didn't even Know about the demon at this point (they don't find out that "the thing that killed mom" is a demon til 1x11) or that John was closing in on it. Dean goes to Stanford to ask Sam to help him look for John, that's it. Then, at the end of 1x01 Dean brings Sam back to school in time for his interview as promised, and drives away. He only turns around when, in the deleted scene, he notices his watch has stopped, cluing him in that something is wrong. And he gets there in time to save Sam from the burning building.

Sam then makes the choice to leave with Dean because now that he's lost someone, he is personally invested in finding John because John knows more about the thing that killed Mary (and now Jess) than anyone, and Sam is the one who is now consumed by the need for revenge and the first step in getting that revenge is finding John, something he had no vested interest in doing before, but is now heavily invested in, even more than Dean is, as we see throughout the first half of s1 where Sam is often the one calling around looking for John and is more interested in searching for John than taking on random cases.

Anyways, it's just so interesting to track this revisionism of events and how both Sam and Dean come to accept this as the truth when it's literally not what we saw happen throughout the season. And we see Dean start to absorb this belief after Meg plants the seed in their heads in 1x16, trying to drive a wedge between them, by falsely saying Dean "drags Sam around like luggage" when literally the whole reason Sam and Meg meet is because Sam wanted to part ways in 1x11 and Dean let him go. Sam then comes back and decides to stay all on his own, even after Dean offers to drop Sam off somewhere.

Dean expresses in 1x16, that yes, he wants Sam around, he wants his family together again, but at the end of that very episode Dean is also the one who says they need to split up from John, even though it's the last thing he wants. Dean consistently is willing to let people go, even if it's not what he personally wants. And especially Sam. Over and over throughout the season he expressed how he wants Sam to have a normal life, is willing to let Sam go, or stay in some random town and drop the search for John. So even IF Dean did secretly want Sam to stick around when he went to get Sam at Stanford, he never expected it. Never enforced it.

That Sam comes to think Dean "dragged him back" into hunting is a purely revisionism and a bit of projection, I think, because Sam might not want to face the truth of the matter which is that he consistently chose to stick with hunting, and actually enjoys it more than he'd like to admit. And, as both he and John express, this quest to kill Yellow Eyes becomes "their" obsession. Not Dean's. Dean is the one who says he'd rather they never find the demon if it means losing his family. Dean is the one that says getting revenge isn't worth dying for. And then, Sam takes this to heart, when at the end of 1x22 he refuses to kill John Possessed by Azazel at Dean's pleading, AND when he tells John that killing this demon does not come "before everything" while eyeing Dean bleeding out in the backseat.

Dean was never the one invested in revenge. He did not come get Sam from Stanford to aid in the family revenge quest, he came for help in finding their missing father, something Dean cared abt simply because that's family, and Dean cares deeply, despite everything John put them through. Dean is the one that cares, the heart of the narrative, etc etc. He comes to Sam because he is alone in the world, because their only other blood relative is missing, because it's a very human thing, to reach out, to want family around. And still, he was always going to let Sam go after the 1x01. He didn't like it. It's not what Dean wanted. But he was going to let him go back to his life. Sam chose to follow Dean and continue searching for John.

Episode 12

“Call it again,” Scott orders his friends as he jumps up from the floor. The boy somehow managed to lose his phone within the last twenty four hours from when they were together. He’s checked under his bed about a thousand times, making Stiles and Fallon roll their eyes. If he didn’t find it the first time, he’s not gonna find it now. They tried to help him look for the first hour and a half, but eventually gave up.

Fallon presses the call button on her phone, a loud ringing echoing throughout the room. Unfortunately, that’s the only sound reverberating in the small space. Scott’s ringtone is not heard by any of them. There wasn’t even the loud vibrating noise it usually makes.

Fallon readjusts the white turtleneck she’s wearing, the fabric feeling slightly suffocating. The brunette is going to be stuck wearing this style of shirt for a while. At least until Derek’s handprint fades from her neck. He left bruises scattered across it, which would definitely raise a few eyebrows if anyone she loves saw it. She really didn’t want to answer any questions, or to see the pity in Scott and Stiles’ eyes when she told them. Fallon herself didn’t even want to talk about it. Reliving it just makes her want to punch Derek more. The fact he didn’t even try to apologize also infuriates her to no end.

“It’s not here, Scotty,” Fallon sighs, her voice sounding almost tight. Like Derek managed to dent her vocal chords or something.

“You know, so what, you lost your phone,” Stiles tries to say positively. “Why don’t you just get a new one?”

“I can’t afford a new one,” Scott groans frustratedly, still fervently searching his bedroom. “And I can’t do this alone. We have to find Derek.” He glances at Fallon with a hopeful look, “Have you been able to get ahold of him?” He asks, walking closer to the two.

Fallon shrugs, “I texted him.”

“That’s it?” Stiles scoffs. “You texted him? Seriously?” He narrows his eyes at her. “I thought you would’ve been over the moon that you were given the job of reaching out to him. And all you do is text him?”

“Yes, Stiles,” Fallon responds, annoyed. “All I did was text him. He’s probably not gonna answer me anyway. You’d have better luck getting Peter to call him if you want a response.” She looks back at Scott, “Plus, didn’t you say he walked into gunfire?” Scott nods. “Probably not in the position to be answering text messages then,” she says.

Scott shakes his head, “Argent's plan was to use him to get to the Alpha. They wouldn’t risk killing him.”

“All right, so then, just let them do what they're planning, you know? They use Derek to find Peter, problem solved.” Stiles says with a nonchalant shrug.

“Not if Peter’s going after Allison to find Derek!” Scott exclaims frustratedly. “I can’t protect her on my own which means we either find Derek first–” he stops, stammering as he tries not to picture what will happen if they don’t find Derek. “Just-just help me!” He shouts, going through the minimal miscellaneous items he has on his dresser. He tosses a toy basketball backwards, knocking Fallon in the head.

She glares at him, fighting the urge to chuck the ball back at his head. “You know, you probably lost it when you two were fighting,” Fallon brings up passive aggressively. Most of it towards Derek. “Remember? When he was trying to kill you for trying to save Jackson from also being killed by him. Anyone else noticing his pattern of violent behavior? Or just me?”

“Since when do you say anything negative about Derek?” Stiles furrows his eyebrows.

Scott groans loudly, “He wasn’t actually going to kill anyone,” he defends. “And I’m not letting him die.”

Fallon believes that Derek is still buried in his mind, just under the control of Peter. She knows even despite his cold hard exterior, he wouldn’t actually let Peter hurt someone innocent if he could help it. She doesn’t necessarily want him to die either, but maybe a couple hours of torture would serve him right after crawling through her window just to assault her.

Stiles huffs exasperatedly, “Could you at least think about letting him die?” He requests with a pout. “For me?”

Fallon tosses the basketball up in the air and sighs, “No, Stiles… Unfortunately that isn’t considered ‘morally correct.’ We have to save him.”

“This whole hot and cold thing towards him is making me very confused,” Stiles tells her.

Scott continues to rummage through his things as his other two friends just sit in their own separate chairs, arms crossed. Scott wants to save Derek, Stiles doesn’t, and Fallon is somewhere in the morally gray area. Normally, she would side with Scott, but today apparently isn’t the day.

Suddenly Scott’s head cocks to the side, his face visibly falling. Stiles and Fallon notice this, figuring he must be hearing something from outside. “What’s wrong?” Fallon asks him tentatively.

“My mom just got home from work,” he tells them dejectedly.

“Is she okay?” Stiles asks worriedly, sitting up straighter. Scott shakes his head. “What’s she doing?”

The werewolf slowly moves away from his desk, looking down at the ground sadly. “Crying,” he mumbles.

There’s a moment of silence shared between the three of them. None of them like to hear when Melissa is upset. Fallon stands up, walking over to put her hand on Scott’s back. “It’s not your fault, Scott,” she whispers.

The boy moves away from her touch as he goes to sit down on his bed. His frantic mood from mere seconds ago has completely vanished. Stiles sighs, trying to find the right words to comfort his friend. “Scott, you can’t protect everyone.”

Scott barely looks up at the two of them, “I have to.” He insists.

Fallon walks into the school after her free period. She’s been spending most of her day with Allison, still paranoid about Derek’s warning/threat. She has lacrosse practice this afternoon with the boys and then afterwards she’s going shopping with Lydia and Allison. In her hand are two Starbucks cups, one of them containing Allison’s favorite beverage. She grunts when her phone buzzes and she pulls out the device.

It’s a message from Stiles, You’re gonna be in seventh period right?

Yeah. What’s up? She replies, setting the drinks down in her locker as sixth period hasn’t ended just yet.

I may or may not have forgotten to do the homework…

Fallon can’t help but smile even though she rolls her eyes. Gimme a sec. I’ll send them to you.

I literally love you more than life itself. Stiles texts overdramatically. Btw have you managed to get a hold of Derek? Scott’s asking.

I haven’t talked to Derek at all, no. Do you want me to try calling him again? She asks, hoping he tells her not to worry about it.

If you could, yeah.

She bites the inside of her cheek. Of course he wants her to. She fights off the urge to rip out her eyes and reluctantly plugs in Derek’s phone number. It rings as expected and goes directly to voicemail. Sometimes she thinks the number he gave her is fake. She’s skeptical that he even has a phone in the first place. His voicemail is also not set up, so after the female automated voice is done telling her to leave a message, she does just that.

“Hey, Derek. It’s me. Again. I know you’ve probably got your whole ‘brooding lone wolf’ thing going on right now, but maybe you could break that habit and actually pick up your phone for once. Just a thought.” She comments sarcastically, grabbing the homework for her next class that she can send to Stiles.

“Anyway, Scott, Stiles, and I have been trying to reach you because, surprise, Peter is getting even more psychotic than usual. Scott’s worried Peter’s going to come after Allison to find you, and, you know, we’re all kind of invested in keeping people alive. So, if you could let us know you’re not dead in a ditch somewhere, that’d be great.”

There’s a pause, and Fallon sighs, frustration creeping into her tone.

“Also, in case you forgot after your whole threat debacle thing the other night, Peter wants me to get close to the Argents. So, yeah, I’m working on that. I’m trying to cozy up to the family of hunters that, oh right, could kill us all at any moment. Just thought you should know since you’re the one who got me into this mess in the first place.”

Her voice softens a bit, though the passive-aggression remains. “Look, Derek… I get it. You’ve got your reasons for working with Peter. And I’m not thrilled about it, as you can probably tell. But… if you’re in over your head or if something’s wrong, you can’t just shut us out. I’m still trying to figure out why I even care, but—" Another pause. “Just… be careful, okay? Wherever you are. Call me back, please. I—”

She cuts herself off, frustrated with herself for caring so much. “Just… let me know you’re alive.”

The voicemail ends with a soft click.

She closes her eyes, sucking in a deep breath as she tries to shake off the emotions swirling inside of her. She readjusts her purple turtleneck, the bruises still pretty prominent. She doesn’t know how she’s going to hide them at lacrosse practice.

That’s when the bell finally rings and the brunette grabs the notebook she needs and her two coffees before bed-lining it towards Allison’s locker. By the time she gets there, Allison is just putting in her combination. Fallon smoothly slides up next to her, leaning on the locker door next to Allison’s holding up the drinks with a wide smile.

“I come bearing gifts.”

Allison turns to look at her and her eyes light up at the sight of caffeine. “You got me a coffee?” She asks brightly, not expecting the touching gesture.

“Of course I did,” Fallon grins, handing her the cup with her designated drink. “You’re my best girl friend. And I figured you could use a little bit of pick me up before dress shopping later with Lydia,” she giggles. “I don’t know how she does it, but she can genuinely walk through Macy’s for a solid six hours without breaking a sweat.”

Allison gratefully takes the drink, using her free arm to pull Fallon in for a hug. “You’re the best, seriously. You have no idea how much I appreciate this.” She takes a sip of her coffee, “I’ve been having a hard time sleeping, so…”

Fallon furrows her eyebrows, a concerned look taking over her face. “How come?”

Her lips form in a tight line but she just shakes her head. “Just a lot going on. I’m fine though, really.” She nods, but Fallon doesn’t believe a word that just came out of her mouth.

Fallon wants to push for more information, but doesn’t want to come across as overbearing. She feels a couple of eyes on her and briefly glances down the hallway. She sees Scott and Stiles peeking their heads around the corner, checking to make sure that Fallon is still glued to Allison’s side. Her two best friends think that she’s staying with Allison so Peter doesn’t try to take her, but she has her own reasons as well. She hasn’t told them about Derek or Peter’s threat, but she’s been trying to protect Allison while simultaneously getting dirt on her family.

Fallon sips her own latte before looking up at Allison, “So, are you going to the formal?” She asks curiously.

“I want to,” She admits. “Jackson asked me to go as friends the other day, but we haven’t really finished talking about it. And I know Lydia wants to go with some jock, but I don’t really wanna be a third wheel.”

“I wouldn’t either,” Fallon agrees. “I definitely don’t blame you.”

“Has anyone asked you?” Allison glances at her, turning from her locker for a moment.

Fallon nods slowly while rubbing the back of her neck, “Yeah, actually… Scott did.” Allison’s eyes shoot as wide as saucers which makes Fallon break out into a fit of laughter. She wanted to keep the charade up for a couple seconds longer, but her face was too priceless to hold back from. “I’m kidding. But someone did ask me. He’s actually the guy I sit next to in my creative writing class,” she admits shyly.

Allison shoots her a hopeful smile, “Be my date instead?” She asks with her gorgeous doe eyes.

Fallon huffs, feeling torn between saying yes to her gorgeous friend or to the cute guy in her writing class. She hasn’t gone out on a date pretty much ever. So the appeal of going with the guy who asked her is very strong. But she could never leave Allison hanging.

“Of course I’ll be your date,” Fallon grins. “Now we just gotta match our dress colors later today and it’ll be perfect.”

“Yes!” Allison claps. “Okay, this is going to be so much fun.”

Fallon’s eyes travel down the hallway once more, falling on her spastic best friend. “I know you said Lydia already decided to go with one of the guys on the lacrosse team, but… do you think we could convince her to ditch him for Stiles?” She asks with a small smirk. She watches as Scott leans over to whisper what Fallon had just done and Stiles begins to rapidly shake his head.

“Oh my gosh, wait, that would be perfect,” Allison smiles. “He would treat her so much better than the loser that asked her.” Allison goes to shut her locker so they can walk to their final class together, but Jackson sliding up to the empty space where her locker door was prevents them from going anywhere.

His eyes are wild and a bead of sweat drips down his forehead. He looks terrified and once Fallon sees Scott snickering from afar, she knows it was his doing. “Hey,” he greets anxiously. “What time should I pick you up for the dance tomorrow?”

Allison tilts her head curiously, but nonetheless smiles, “Are you okay?”

Jackson nods, despite his body trembling where he stands. He readjusts his backpack strap, feeling the need to fidget. “Yeah, I-I'm great! I'm just excited to go to the formal. With you. As friends. Just friends. Just-just friends.”

Allison nods in agreement which forces Jackson to walk away, mumbling something under his breath as he goes. She should’ve figured this would’ve been something Scott would do. He’s not allowed to be there, so the next best option of protection would be Jackson.

“Well, that solves the whole date debacle,” Fallon loops her arm through Allison’s.

“I’ll tell him no if you still want to go together,” Allison says seriously. “You come first.”

Fallon waves her off, “No, don’t worry about me. I want you to have fun, and if you want to go with Jackson, you should.”

“Then you should at least say yes to the guy in your class,” Allison persists. “That way you, me, and Lydia can all have dates.”

“You know what?” Fallon smiles giddily. “I think I will. I have his number so I could call him.”

“Do it!” Allison encourages with a nod. “Class can wait. This takes priority,” she bumps her side playfully.

“Okay, okay, I’m doing it.”

Stiles stands at the Macy’s perfume counter which is near all the dress racks, smelling each and every bottle on display. Fallon watches with an amused look, shaking her head as he sneezes because of one of the particularly strong scents. He insisted on smelling the cheap, off-brand section before moving over to the more expensive ones. She told him not to even bother with the cheap stuff as Lydia would never wear it, but he was very persistent.

Fallon grabs Stiles wrist as he goes to spray one of the bottles in the air to smell it. She hands him one of the small papers designated for said purpose and he makes an ‘o’ shape with his mouth. He nods, spraying the bottle before sniffing it and cringing. He hacks loudly, “Okay, absolutely not. I’d kill you and then myself if you ever wore something like that.” He shakes his head. “I promise I’ll find you the perfect perfume for tomorrow,” he swears. “And for Lydia.” He picks up a strawberry shaped bottle. “Do you think she’ll like this one? It matches her hair.”

“Sti, I already told you,” Fallon giggles. “She’s not gonna like these ones. The better smelling ones are on the other side.”

“Okay, but I’m still not done with these,” he points to the wide array of colored bottles. “If you want me to get done quicker, maybe you should help a friend out and start sniffing for me,” he instructs, pointing to the other side.

Fallon huffs but doesn’t bother hiding the smile on her face as she goes to smell the more expensive perfumes. The girl bops her head along to the pop music playing throughout the retail store. She moves down the line of bottles, taking note of the ones she knows Lydia would like. Her and Allison have yet to get there. Fallon and Stiles wanted to get there a little bit early so she could help him pick out a suit and he could help her a bit with the dresses. She didn’t want to be completely clueless when Lydia and Allison got here. Unfortunately, Stiles was practically useless as every dress he pulled out for her was far too short and risqué for a school dance. He practically begged her to put on a green dress that barely went over her thighs and was completely backless.

Finally after what felt like forever, she found a small purple glass bottle. She sprayed a small bit of it and immediately fell in love with the scent. It smells like something a royal would wear. Lydia would love it. She holds it up, “What about this one?” She suggests. Stiles leans forward and smells it. He immediately nods his head in approval, sending her a thumbs up.

Right at that moment, the ladies of the hour come up the escalator. Fallon smiles as she runs over to Lydia and Allison, pulling them both on for a hug. Lydia looks slightly less thrilled than Allison, no doubt because the latter just revealed she would have to go to the dance with Stiles. She might be disappointed now, but Fallon knows Lydia will have the best time with him. Stiles is a great guy.

Soon enough, Lydia drags Stiles off towards the dress racks, immediately using him as her own personal hanger as she selects multitudes of different dresses. Fallon and Allison go off with each other, giggling as they jokingly hold up the most posh looking dresses to their bodies.

Lydia definitely has the most dresses chosen out of the three of them. Fallon has two draped over her arm and even then she’s not completely sold on either of them. She had some ideas of what she wanted, but so far she’s just grabbing what she thinks looks good. Her eyes are drawn to a light pink floor length gown, sparkles embroidered all around it with a slit on the side. She grabs it off the rack, a content feeling filling her chest. This is definitely the one.

She turns on her heel to show it to Allison, but the girl isn’t there. She must’ve gone off to find her own dress. Fallon moves through the racks and different people, trying to find her friend. She keeps her eye out for a head of luscious brown hair, but ends up being met with the icy blue stare of the exact person she didn’t want to see. Peter.

And he’s talking to Allison.

Fury and fear burns in Fallon’s gut as she marches over to where they’re standing. Allison is standing in front of a mirror, holding a dress in her hand as Peter’s predatory gaze beats down on her. When she stops, she pretty much puts herself in between Allison and the Alpha. A fake smile is plastered across her lips as she looks at her friend, “Everything okay here?”

Allison nods, nervously tucking a lock of hair behind her ear. “Um, yeah. He was just helping me out finding colors that match my skin tone.”

“Yeah, I’m sure he was,” Fallon says rather aggressively, her eyes never leaving Peter’s.

The man simply smirks, sensing her uneasiness. But it does please him to see Fallon taking his threat seriously. “This is nice. Shopping for dresses with friends is always a good time. Let me guess, high school dance?” He quirks a brow, trying to act as if he’s some normal person making conversation.

“Formal,” Allison answers, still trying to be kind despite being uncomfortable.

Fallon grabs Allison’s hand, turning more defensive as Peter doesn’t seem to be grasping the hint. She’s here to protect Allison for Scott. That’s her priority right now. Peter can clearly see her trying to grow closer to the family, so he needs to take his leave. “Listen, I think we can handle this from here. I’m sure you have better things to do than question two teenage girls about dresses.”

Before he can retaliate with a response, a female voice echoes over the intercom, stopping the song that was playing throughout the store. “Attention shoppers... To the owner of a blue Mazda, license plate–”

Allison tenses as she looks at Fallon, “Did she just say a blue Mazda?”

Fallon ignores the announcement completely, keeping her eyes on Peter the entire time. He seems to revel in the attention, only smirking whenever he decides to meet her fiery gaze. She feels like a double agent. Fighting against Peter while also helping him get to the Argents. But as of right now, her only concern is making sure he doesn’t touch a hair on Allison’s head.

“–5768. Your car is being towed.”

“That’s my car!” Allison realizes before taking off towards the escalator to try and save her vehicle.

That leaves Fallon alone with Peter. Every part of her body is screaming at her to turn the other way, to simply walk in the other direction, or call out for Stiles. Just so that she’s not alone with him, but something about his eyes holds her in place and keeps her mouth shut. A fake smile etches its way onto his lips. He reaches forward, lightly caressing the dress on her arm. “While I do believe this will look absolutely exemplary on you… don’t you think there are more pressing matters to attend to than dress shopping?” He enunciates the last two words, running his slimy hand over the glittery fabric.

“You told me to get close to the Argents,” Fallon replies through her own tense smile as she pretends to be having a conversation with someone she likes to avoid suspicious looks from other customers. “That's what I’m doing.”

“Oh, no. No, no, no,” Peter chuckles. “You were already close with Allison long before this. As far as I can tell, this is just two friends spending time together,” his fake smile drops. “I want you to get close to all of them. Specifically her psychotic aunt.”

Fallon feels her breath catch, her heart pounding against her ribs. “Kate?” She echoes in almost disbelief. “How the hell do you expect me to do that? She’s not exactly approachable. I’ve been to Allison’s house a thousand times and I’ve had maybe one conversation with the woman.”

“Then make yourself useful and figure it out,” Peter responds coldly, closing the distance between them in one swift movement. “Find a way. Get into her good graces. Charm her, manipulate her, I don’t care. Just do it.”

Fallon swallows hard, her fingers gripping the fabric of the dress tighter as she feels the familiar chill of fear creeping up her spine. She’s trapped. She’s known for a while now that Peter has a plan for her, but this new directive feels more dangerous, more impossible.

“And if I don’t?” she whispers, her voice barely audible.

Peter’s sinister grin returns, his expression hardening as he steps even closer, his presence suffocating. He reaches out, yanking her closer to him so he can whisper . The threat is clear in his touch.

“Then I’ll have no choice but to take matters into my own hands,” he murmurs, his voice low and menacing. His eyes flicker to the quickening pulse on her wrist, his fingers tracing lightly along her skin. “You wouldn’t want me to bite you, Fallon. Not unless you’re prepared for what comes after.”

Her breath hitches, fear pooling in her chest as his words sink in. She knows he isn’t bluffing. Fallon has seen what Peter is capable of—felt his power firsthand. The idea of being bitten, of becoming one of them, terrifies her more than she can admit.

“I-I’m trying,” she stammers, barely able to maintain eye contact. “I just—Kate’s different. I don’t know how to get close to her.”

Peter’s voice is soft, but the danger laced within it is obvious. “Then you’d better discover how. Quickly.”

Fallon’s mind races, panic blooming in her chest as she searches for anything to say, any excuse that might buy her time. But the cold reality is settling in: she’s running out of options, and Peter knows it.

“You don’t have long,” he continues, his fingers sliding up from her wrist to rest on her shoulder, deceptively gentle. “Kate knows more than she lets on. If you can’t get information from her, I will—and I won’t be so polite about it.”

The threat hangs heavy in the air between them, and Fallon feels like she’s suffocating under the weight of it. “I don’t think I need to remind you what happens to those who fail me,” he says, his tone giving anyone who could be listening a fake sense of security. “You have until the dance to get me what I need, or consider that your last night as a human.”

The gravity of his words hits her like a punch to the gut, and Fallon feels a wave of cold fear wash over her. She can’t bring herself to say anything, her throat tight with the realization of just how deeply she’s caught in this web.

“I’ll… I’ll figure it out,” she whispers, her voice shaky, barely more than a breath. She hates the way it sounds—so small, so scared—but there’s nothing else she can do.

Peter gives her one last satisfied smirk before turning toward the door. “Good girl,” he says over his shoulder, the words dripping with condescension. “I knew you’d see things my way.”

And with that, he’s gone, leaving Fallon standing frozen in place, her pulse still racing, fear and dread twisting in her stomach.

“Oh, and tell Scott while I am impressed with his ingenuity… he can’t be everywhere all the time.” He starts to walk out towards the escalators, “It’s either you or Allison, and considering Scott’s track record when it comes to saving you or her. I’d be a little worried.”

Fallon exhales shakily as she steps out of her vehicle and walks up to the Lahey residence. Issac originally was supposed to pick her up from her house for the dance, but his father forbade him from using the car under the impression that Issac was lying about having a date. Luckily, Michael was more than understanding and allowed Fallon to use his car for the night since he didn’t have to work. She would’ve taken her bike but figured it wouldn’t be best in such a long dress.

She knocks on the front door and is met with a muffled string of profanities before the door swings open. She immediately gets a whiff of the whiskey on the breath of who she assumes is Mr. Lahey. The man’s eyes widen when he sees Fallon standing in the doorway.

Peter was right, the dress looks absolutely exemplary on her. The pink shine compliments her perfectly, the light dusting of eye shadow matching the color of the dress. Her heels are only about an inch off the ground and completely white with no stains. She forwent putting on lipstick and stuck with a light layer of chapstick to give her lips a glossy shine. Her hair is left down and curled, small braids wrapping around the crown of her head to make her appear more elegant.

“Dad–” She hears Issac’s frustrated voice as he clambers towards the door. “I said I got it.”

“Yeah, well I got it too,” Mr. Lahey fires back with an unnecessary amount of aggression. His eyes fall back on the brunette at the door, an unsettling smile on his face. “I’m surprised you’re real. You sure he’s not making you go against your will? Or maybe he paid you for your services? Even then I don’t think he’d actually have the guts to pay for an escort.”

His laugh is almost like nails on a chalkboard. Issac’s face flushes red from embarrassment and anger. Fallon feels herself growing more irritated by this man’s behavior. That's his son, and not to mention, they just met and he basically already accused her of being paid to spend time with Issac.

“Thankfully I’m not an escort then,” She replies stiffly. “Your son was sweet enough to even ask me. He doesn’t need to pay me for my services. It’s a pleasure being able to call him my date.” Her tone is definitive and strong, leaving the man unable to argue with her or try to insult Issac.

���I don’t believe you,” Mr. Lahey says flatly, leaning against the doorframe. “Isaac never mentioned anything about a date, and he sure as hell didn’t ask me for permission to go.”

“Well, maybe that’s because he knows how you’d react,” Fallon snaps before she can stop herself. Her voice is sharp, frustration bubbling over. “He deserves to go out and have fun, just like everyone else. You don’t get to control him forever.”

Mr. Lahey’s eyes flash with anger, and he steps closer to her, his posture menacing. “Watch your mouth, girl. You don’t know anything about how I raise my son.”

“I know enough,” Fallon mutters under her breath, her hands clenching into fists at her sides.

Just then, the door opens a little wider, and Isaac tries to wriggle his way out of the house. He looks between his father and Fallon, clearly uncomfortable.

“Dad, let me go,” Isaac says, his voice quiet but firm. “I told you last week, I’m going to the dance.”

Mr. Lahey scoffs, turning to Isaac. “You’re not going anywhere,” he says, his voice dripping with disdain. “You think I’m going to let you leave with some… girl you probably had to beg to go with you?”

Isaac flinches at his father’s words, but Fallon steps forward, her protective instinct kicking in. “He didn’t have to beg me,” Fallon says sharply, glaring at Mr. Lahey. “And he’s going to the dance with me. Whether you approve of it or not.”

Mr. Lahey sneers, his eyes flicking between Isaac and Fallon. “You think you can just come into my house and tell me what my son is doing?” he growls, his voice low and dangerous.

Fallon doesn’t back down, her eyes locked on his. “No, but I do think Isaac deserves better than this,” she says, her voice steady. “And you know it. So I’m not telling you what your son is doing, I’m giving him the option because it’s his choice, not yours.”

Isaac’s dad takes a step toward her, but Isaac moves quickly, stepping in between them. “Dad, stop,” Isaac says, his voice shaking slightly. “I’m going with Fallon, and that’s it.”

There’s a tense silence, and for a moment, Fallon wonders if Mr. Lahey is going to lash out. But instead, he just sneers again, backing away slightly.

“Fine,” he spits. “Go ahead. But don’t come crying to me when you screw it up like everything else.”

Isaac winces, but he doesn’t respond. He just nods to Fallon, signaling that they should leave.

Fallon glares at Mr. Lahey one last time before turning on her heel and walking toward the car, Isaac following close behind. Once they’re outside, Fallon lets out a shaky breath, her heart still pounding in her chest.

“I’m sorry about that,” Isaac says quietly, his eyes downcast as they reach the car. “He’s not always like that… but when he gets mad…”

Fallon glances at him, her anger softening into something more protective. “You don’t have to apologize for him,” she says gently, opening the car door for him. “You didn’t do anything wrong.”

Isaac hesitates for a moment, then nods, giving her a small, grateful smile. He gets into the car, and Fallon follows, sliding into the driver’s seat.

As they drive away from the house, Fallon can’t shake the feeling of anger still bubbling inside her. She glances over at Isaac, who’s staring out the window, lost in thought.

“Hey,” she says softly, catching his attention. “You don’t deserve any of that. You know that, right?”

Isaac looks at her, surprised, but then he nods slowly. “Yeah,” he murmurs. “I guess I do.”

Fallon smiles, reaching over to squeeze his hand gently. “Good,” she says, her voice firm. “Because tonight, we’re going to have fun. No more thinking about him.”

Isaac manages a small smile, nodding again. “Fun sounds good,” he says, his voice lighter than before.

As they drive off toward the winter formal, Fallon glances back at Isaac’s house one last time, her jaw set. She knows this won’t be the last time they have to deal with his dad. But tonight, she’s going to make sure Isaac gets the chance to forget about all of that, even if it’s just for a few hours.

When they arrive at the school, Fallon ends up parking next to Stiles and Lydia who seem to have just arrived as well. She doesn’t even have the chance to open her door before Issac is rounding the car to do it for her. She smiles as he sticks out his hand for her to take. She jumps down, smoothing over her dress before leaning up to kiss his cheek.

“Thank you,” she smiles.

“Oh my gosh, Fallon!” Allison runs up to her. “That dress looks amazing on you,” she gushes while Jackson follows begrudgingly.

“Well, you look absolutely stunning,” Fallon compliments back. “Jackson’s lucky he got to take you,” she tries to lighten the expression on Jackson’s face, but he seems too busy brooding on his own. She clears her throat, pulling Issac forward, “And this is Issac, my date. He was sweet enough to take pity on me and ask so I didn’t have to go alone.” She jokes, nudging his side with her hip.

Issac fights off his own blush, rubbing the back of his neck, “I didn’t take pity,” he clarifies. “I actually wanted to ask you like a month ago but it took me a while to actually get myself to do it…” he admits.

Allison smiles at their cuteness, “That’s really sweet.”

Fallon leans into his side slightly, “Yeah, he is.” She loops her arm through his as Allison and Jackson start to head towards the gym. They follow after them, stopping to talk to Lydia and Stiles while Jackson rudely brushes past them.

“Jackson… you look handsome,” Lydia compliments politely.

The blonde smirks, barely even addressing his ex-girlfriend. “Obviously,” he says smugly. “It’s Hugo Boss.” He wraps his arm around Allison before reluctantly escorting her into the school.

Lydia bites the inside of her cheek, looking up at the sky, “I don't care. I don't want compliments. I will not fall prey to society's desire to turn girls into emotional, insecure neurotics who pull up their dresses at the first flattering remark…”

Stiles’ eyes soften as he looks at the short strawberry blonde next to him. “Well, I think you look beautiful,” he tells her genuinely.

Lydia looks up at him, a faint smile covering her cherry red lips. It’s almost like she’s never gotten a compliment that meant so much. “Really?” She asks gently. Stiles simply sticks his arm out for her to take, and she does. She loops hers through his before the two of them start strutting towards the school.

Fallon grins as she watches her friend get a date with his dream girl. Her own arm is still laced with Issac’s. The curly haired boy gets a small surge of confidence, lacing their fingers together which catches her attention. “Y’know you look beautiful too, right?” He tells her, a bit nervous. “I know I haven’t said it until now, but you do look stunning.”

His compliment goes straight to her cheeks. She can’t fight off the small giggle that leaves her lips. “You look pretty handsome yourself,” she says smoothly, messing with his jacket.

“You ready to head in there?” He asks, gesturing over to the blasting music and bright, colorful lights. Shouts of joy are heard from the gym, their fellow peers already starting to enjoy the night's festivities.

“I am if you are,” she replies.

Issac pulls her closer to him before the duo heads into the school. Their eyes widen as they take in the area that once was their high school gym. Whoever is on the dance committee really outdid themselves. The decorations look amazing. While the strobe lights are a bit much, it does add a bit more of a party feel.

Although she has a great date and plans on having a good night, there's still a bit of fear lingering in the back of her mind. She hasn’t even had a chance to talk to Kate. After dress shopping, Fallon spent the night over at Allison’s house in hopes of getting some information from her aunt, but the woman never came home. Peter told her she had until tonight to deliver results, and she has nothing.

“You want some punch?” Issac asks her, his voice raised so she can hear him over the thumping music.

Fallon nods her head, “We should probably get some before Jackson and the rest of the lacrosse guys spike it,” she says, making Issac laugh.

The two head over to the refreshments table, Issac politely grabbing two cups while Fallon gets a plate, filling it with snacks for them to share. Stiles waves the duo over to his and Lydia’s table, causing Fallon to playfully roll her eyes at his inability to talk to women without her present. She places a cookie in Issac’s mouth as they travel over to the table. Fallon takes the seat closest to Lydia, Issac pulling it out of her before taking the chair next to Fallon.

Issac and Fallon have their own hushed conversation as Stiles stares longingly at the dance floor. He wants more than anything to dance with Lydia. Just a chance to get her attention off of Jackson and onto him. Issac tosses a grape into the air, Fallon catching it with her mouth. The two of them cheer obnoxiously making Stiles’ frown more prominent. He doesn’t understand how the two of them can make sitting at a table so entertaining.

He’s slightly jealous by how easy Fallon makes things look. Issac has never been the type of guy to be outgoing or bold, but sitting here with Fallon, no one would be able to tell. Hell, most people forget that the curly haired blonde is even on the lacrosse team. He doesn’t go to parties or school events, yet with her he looks like one of the most popular guys in school. It irritates Stiles to no end that Fallon can do that for Issac but he himself can’t even ask Lydia to dance with him.

Stiles bites his tongue, his leg bouncing up and down. “Screw it,” he mumbles. He turns his head to Lydia, sticking his hand out towards her. “You wanna dance?”

Lydia twirls her hair around her finger, sending him an uninterested smile. “Pass,” she turns him down snidely.

Stiles clenches his jaw, rolling his head back and forth. He stands up from his chair, leaning onto the table to show that he means business. Fallon watches with an amused grin, not used to seeing Stiles take charge. “You know what? Let me try that again-- Lydia, get off your cute little ass and dance with me now.”

Lydia smacks her lips together, pretending like she’s thinking about it. “Interesting tactic,” she hums. “I’m gonna stick with no.”

“Lydia, get up, okay?!” Stiles demands exasperatedly. “You're gonna dance with me. I don't care that you made out with my best friend for some weird power thing. I don't–” Fallon shakes her head, silently saying that is not the route to go to convince her to dance. He sighs, knowing she’s right so he switches gears.

“Lydia, I've had a crush on you since the third grade... And I know that somewhere inside that cold, lifeless exterior, there's an actual human soul. And I'm also pretty sure that I'm the only one who knows how smart you really are. Uh-huh. And that once you're done pretending to be a nit-wit, you'll eventually go off and write some insane mathematical theorem that wins you the Nobel Prize.”

Lydia looks down, a small blush appearing on her cheeks. No one has ever paid that much attention to her before. Or taken the time to notice who she really is. “A Fields Metal,” she corrects him quietly.

Stiles shakes his head, “… What?” He asks, confused.

She stands up, dusting off the imaginary dust on her dress. She takes a step towards him, “Nobel doesn’t have a prize for mathematics. The Fields Medal is the one I’ll be winning,” she states matter-of-factly before pulling Stiles out onto the dance floor. He sticks his hand in the air, quietly celebrating his win.

Fallon chuckles, popping a piece of fruit in her mouth. She watches the teens around her dance to the upbeat music until Issac suddenly stands from his seat. He looks down at her causing her heartbeat to quicken. He offers his hand out to her, “I don’t exactly have a big speech like that to make you swoon or anything… but uh– would you maybe wanna dance with me?”

Fallon places her hand in his with a small smack, pulling herself out of the chair. “I thought you’d never ask.”

The beat of the song is infectious, the kind that makes it impossible to stand still, and Fallon wastes no time throwing herself into the music. She starts moving to the rhythm, her energy vibrant and carefree.

Isaac, on the other hand, is a little more reserved. He sways awkwardly, trying to keep up with the fast tempo but clearly not as confident. Fallon grins at him, shaking her head in mock exasperation.

“Seriously, Isaac? You can’t just stand there like a statue. Have some fun!” she calls over the music.

Isaac chuckles nervously, running a hand through his hair. “I don’t really know how to... I mean...”

Fallon isn’t having it. She grabs both of his hands this time, spinning him around before letting go. Isaac stumbles slightly but starts laughing, the awkwardness slowly melting away. Fallon’s infectious energy draws him in, and soon enough, he’s attempting to dance with her.

“There you go!” Fallon shouts, grinning wide as Isaac loosens up.

Isaac shakes his head, laughing. “You’re relentless, you know that?”

“You’ll thank me later,” Fallon retorts, spinning in place and throwing her hands up to the beat. “Now just follow my lead!”

Isaac does his best, moving a little more freely now, though his dancing is still a bit hesitant. Fallon doesn’t mind—she’s just happy he’s finally getting into it. They start to dance together, not caring if they look ridiculous, laughing as they mimic the other students’ more over-the-top moves.

At one point, Fallon twirls around and nearly bumps into Isaac. He catches her by the wrist, pulling her back into the rhythm of the dance. Their eyes meet, and for a second, Fallon can see the genuine smile on Isaac’s face—something that makes her heart swell a little.

“You’re not so bad at this,” Fallon says teasingly, swaying to the fast beat, her hair bouncing along with the music.

Isaac grins, his confidence slowly building. “You’re just saying that because you’re stuck with me for the rest of the night.”

Fallon rolls her eyes and spins around again, this time pulling Isaac with her. “I picked you, Lahey. Get used to it!”

They continue to dance, their movements syncing up as they get more comfortable. Fallon’s laughter fills the air, and Isaac’s initial awkwardness is completely gone, replaced by a kind of carefree fun that Fallon rarely sees in him.

At one point, Isaac takes a bold step and spins Fallon around, catching her slightly off guard. She stumbles for a second but quickly recovers, bursting out laughing. “Whoa! Look at you, showing off!”

Isaac shrugs, smirking. “Guess I’m a fast learner.”

“Oh, you think you’re hot stuff now?” Fallon teases, stepping closer to him and raising an eyebrow.

Isaac chuckles, his eyes gleaming with newfound confidence. “Maybe a little.”

They continue dancing, the fast song driving their energy higher and higher. Fallon can’t help but feel completely alive in this moment, surrounded by flashing lights, laughter, and the thumping beat of the music. And Isaac—he’s right there with her, laughing, moving, and just... being himself.

As the song reaches its climax, Fallon grabs Isaac’s hand and raises it in the air, twirling underneath it one last time. She lands back in front of him, slightly breathless but grinning ear to ear. Isaac is laughing, too, his eyes bright with excitement.

“Okay, okay,” Isaac says, holding up his hands in mock surrender. “I admit it, this was a good idea.”

Fallon flashes him a playful grin, stepping closer and playfully shoving him on the shoulder. “Told you. Now you just need to loosen up more often.”

Isaac shakes his head, still smiling. “I’ll work on it.”

Fallon smirks, giving him a playful wink. “Good. Because I’m not letting you sit out on any more fast songs tonight.”

Isaac groans, but there’s no hiding the smile on his face. “Deal.”

A few more songs pass, the two of them enjoying the dance floor a little too much. It gets to the point where other couples start surrounding them, cheering on their eccentric behavior. It makes Fallon smile to see Issac not care what everyone else thinks. In class he’s usually pretty shy, doesn’t say much unless he’s asked to. That’s why she was so surprised when he asked her to the dance. But, of course, she could never say no. She’d be crazy if she did. It's just nice seeing him let loose like this, despite his father, his social anxiety, all of it. He’s a really sweet guy and deserves to have a good night.

“McCall!” Coach Finstock’s voice reverberates around the gym causing most heads to turn to him. Fallon internally facepalms. She hoped Scott would at least be able to last an hour without being seen, but that was clearly an unreasonable expectation. “I see you!”

Fallon leans into Issac’s chest, hiding her laughter as Coach shoves through some students to get to Scott. He looks tucked. Scott darts through the auditorium with wide eyes, trying to find a way to escape being kicked out. “Come here, buddy! Come here!”

“McCall! It's a small gym, buddy!” The raven haired man points aggressively at Scott who is still evading his wrath. “I'm gonna find you! I gotcha, McCall! Come here, come here! Get outta my way!” he shoves two dancing students to the side. “McCall!”

Fallon’s jaw drops when she watches Scott frantically run up to Danny. He gesticulates wildly before pulling the goalie up from his chair and wrapping his arms around his neck. He forces Danny to sway back and forth making Fallon cover her mouth with her hand. Issac simply watches with amused eyes while everyone else looks at the scene unfolding with concern.

“McCall! You're not supposed to–” Coach pauses when he realizes who Scott is dancing with. “What the hell are you do– What the hell are you doing?” He asks, flabbergasted.

Scott bats his eyelashes with an innocent smile, “Yes, Coach?”

Coach feels the eyes of every person in the gym on him. He suddenly realizes what this situation could be interpreted as and immediately tries to correct it. “Okay, ho-ho-ho, ha-ha. Hold on, you– I was just saying he's not supposed to– I mean, I wasn't saying that he shouldn't-- You guys don't think– You don't– I-I was–” He throws his hands up, giving up on trying to explain himself. “Just dance, everybody! Just dance! Dance! It's a party!”

Fallon shakes her head as Coach disappears into the crowd, not missing a chance to yell something at Greenberg. Scott lets go of Danny, letting the poor boy return to his own date. Scott walks right over to Allison who greets him with a bright smile and the two begin to dance to the slow song that comes on.

She sighs, taking a step closer to Issac so she can wrap her arms around his neck. He eases his hands onto her waist, the two of them lazily swaying back and forth to the song. She grins up at him, “Thanks for taking me tonight. I’m having a lot of fun.”

“Thanks for saying yes,” he counters. “I probably wouldn’t have come if you didn’t.” He twirls her underneath his arm and pulls her back into him.

Fallon leans her head onto his chest, “Well, I would’ve ended up being a fifth wheel, so I really appreciate you saving my ass from that.” She giggles softly.

“Think of it as payment for you saving me from my dad,” Issac replies gently. “The least I could do after what you did for me back there.”

“Y’know… if you ever need another place to stay, just to get away from your dad for a bit, you could always come to my place,” she suggests kindly. “My dad and I have a spare bedroom, and I know he’d be okay with it if he knew you needed it. He lets Stiles and Scott sleep there all the time.”

He sucks in a deep breath, “No, it’s okay,” he says unsurely. “I couldn’t ask you to do that.”

“You’re not asking,” Fallon counters. “I’m offering. I’d feel much better if I knew you were in a safe environment at least some of the time.”

Issac sees nothing but genuineness in her eyes. He knows his father would never allow him, but maybe that’s the point. This could be his potential escape. “Okay…” he mumbles with a nod. “If I need it, I’ll call you.”

Fallon can take that, “Okay,” she agrees.

Another slow song comes on, allowing her and Issac to simply dance in silence. He rests his chin on her head as she keeps her head on his chest. She closes her eyes, relaxing into his warmth. It’s nice having a normal night. Being here almost makes her forget about Peter's threat.

She opens her eyes momentarily and immediately frowns. She watches as Lydia walks away from Stiles, leaving her buzz cut best friend with a dejected expression. The strawberry blonde walks out of the gym, making Fallon tilt her head out of curiosity.

“Hey… do you mind if we go check on Stiles?” She asks Issac kindly. “Lydia just walked away from him and he looks pretty beat up about it.”

“Yeah,” Issac nods. “Let’s go.” He takes her hand in his before walking over to the table where Stiles just sat down at. Issac sits down next to Fallon while she sits next to Stiles.

“What just happened?” Fallon asks curiously. “You guys seemed all up close and cozy up there. Where’d she go?”

“Went to look for Jackson,” he grumbles irritatedly, slumping down in his chair. “I should’ve expected she would.”

Fallon’s mouth is agape, “And you just let her go? By herself?” She flicks his forehead. “You could’ve gone with her, stupid.”

“And witness her try to win him back?” Stiles scoffs sarcastically. “I’ll pass.”

“Okay, but what if she can’t find him?” Fallon brings up. “It’s probably not a good idea to let her wander around the school at night by herself. Doesn’t exactly go great for us when we do that,” she mutters the last part.

“She doesn’t want me to go after her,” Stiles says, his confidence shot. “She’ll just call me annoying and tell me to go away.”

Sympathy fills Fallon’s veins. Lydia is literally the love of his life and she can tell how upset he is by her leaving. He doesn’t blame her though. Lydia loves Jackson. She can’t turn that off just because she’s having a nice time with Stiles.

Fallon sighs, “You’re not annoying, Sti,” she squeezes his knee reassuringly. “You have no idea how much tonight probably meant for her.” She smiles at him, standing up from her chair. “I’m gonna go see if I can find her, okay?” She glances up at Isaac, a teasing grin on her face. “If you wanna finish the song out boys, I’d love to get a photo of you dancing with each other.” She pats Stiles’ shoulder. “Issac’s a really good dancer by the way. I think you’d like it.” She shouts to them before walking out of the gym.

The brunette girl takes a step out into the quiet hallway and feels instantly refreshed. She didn’t realize how sweaty and suffocating it was in the gym until now. She brushes a strand of hair behind her ear, looking around the hallway and peeking into unlocked classrooms. They have teachers patrolling the halls so they wouldn’t have been able to go upstairs.

She keeps an eye out for either Jackson or Lydia, in hopes if she finds one, she’ll find the other. She huffs, crossing her arms over her chest as she takes a step outside. She left her jacket in the car, feeling the slight urge to go and grab it, but she doesn’t. She keeps her head on a swivel, “Lydia?” She calls out.

The night air is crisp, the stars shining brightly overhead. It’s eerily quiet as she walks around the outside of the campus. She would’ve assumed there would be more teens fraternizing in their cars, but it doesn’t look like there’s anyone. It’s completely deserted. The moon illuminates her body, her white shoes shining under the glow. Even her dress sparkles underneath the natural lighting. She normally would stop and admire the environment around her, but her mind is too preoccupied with being worried about Lydia.

She rounds the corner of the building and over to the lacrosse field. That’s when she finally hears Lydia’s confused voice. “Jackson?” She yells out into the darkness. “Jackson?!”

“Lydia!” Fallon calls out to the girl, taking off her heels before beginning her trek into the field. She didn’t want to ruin a perfectly good pair of shoes on the freshly watered grass.

Lydia stops, tilting her head as Fallon grows closer. Once she reaches her side in the center of the field she furrows her eyebrows, “What are you doing here?” Lydia asks.

“Stiles told me you came out here alone to look for Jackson,” Fallon explains. “I just wanted to make sure you were okay.”

Suddenly the lights to the field turn on one by one. The girls freeze, panic striking them from the top of their heads to the soles of their feet. Lydia grips Fallon’s hand tightly, the brunette not protesting the contact. Something doesn’t feel right. Her heart thumps against her ribcage, neither of them being able to see past the blinding lights.

“Jackson? Is that you?” Lydia says, walking them slightly closer. That’s when Fallon sees it. Someone’s walking towards them from the woods behind the field. She can’t quite make out who it is, but something inside of her is saying that it’s not Jackson.

“Lyds,” Fallon tugs her arm, trying to move further away. “I think we should head back…”

“Jackson!” She tries again. “Is that you?” She narrows her eyes, her voice fading as the person grows closer.

Fallon’s breath catches in her throat as she gets a small glimpse of who is barrelling towards them, “Peter,” she whimpers.

“FALLON! LYDIA! RUN!” Stiles’ voice carries over the empty field, the boy shouting at the top of his lungs as he runs as fast as he can towards the two. He has to save them.

By the time they turn back around, Peter is too close to escape from. Fallon screams in horror as he attacks Lydia, rendering her unconscious. She tries to run, but her world fades into black as a sudden pain surges through her side. Her eyes slide shut, eyelashes fluttering as her body collides with the floor. Blood leaks from her side, Peter kneeling menacingly above both her and Lydia’s bodies.

Stiles falls to his knees, body trembling as he sees the torn up state the two most important women in his life are in. “Don't kill them…” he pleads, completely terrified. “Please…”

Blood drips down from the corner of Peter’s mouth. He looks up with a fake kindness, “ Of course not,” he says as if he isn’t slowly letting them bleed out beneath him. “Just tell me how to find Derek.” He states.

“W-what?” Stiles stutters, not understanding how he would know that.

“Well, since Fallon here failed at getting close to the Argents, I don’t have a connection to help me find my nephew,” Peter pouts. “So Stiles…. Tell me how to find Derek Hale.”

Stiles scoffs, his eyes flashing down to Fallon who seems to be bleeding a lot more profusely than Lydia. “I don’t know that,” he says fearfully. “How would I know that?”

“Because you're the clever one, aren't you?” Peter asks rhetorically, setting his hand dangerously close to Fallon’s bite mark. “And because deception has a particularly acrid scent, Stiles.” He leans forward making Stiles shake even more, “Tell me the truth…” he glances down, “or I will rip them apart.”

Tears start to well up being Stiles’ eyes. He can’t watch them die. He can’t sit here and watch his best friend die. “Look-look, I don't know, okay? I sw-swear to God, I have no idea

“TELL ME!” Peter growls loudly, his voice deepening a few octaves, making the ground shake beneath them.

Stiles winces, wracking his brain for information quickly, “Okay, okay, okay, look... I-I think he knew–” His voice cracks as he tries to calm his breathing.

“Knew what?” Peter questions impatiently.

”Derek,” Stiles elaborates as best as he can. “I think he... I think he knew he was gonna be caught.”

“By the Argents?” Peter clarifies, his claws still tracing the gaping wound in Fallon’s skin.

“Yeah…” He nods with begging eyes, silently praying that he leaves the girls alone.

Peter continues fishing, needing more information. He can tell Stiles is holding something back. “And?” He gestures for the boy to continue.

“When they were shot, he and Scott-- I think he took Scott's phone,” Stiles finds the courage to make eye contact.

The older man creases his eyebrows, “Why?”

“They all have GPS now. So, if he still has it, and if it's still on... you can find him.”

Unexpected Visitor

The heaviness of her head was the first thing [Y/N] felt the moment she gained consciousness. Her eyelids fluttered a few times before her eyes fully opened only to close them back the next moment as she found the bright light of the room rather uncomfortable. She slowly opened her eyes again and blinked a few times, adjusting to the light in the room and scanning her surrounding.

Soon, she realized that she was in a hospital room and it didn't take long before she noticed her left leg in a cast. All the memories from the previous night at Mona's birthday party flooded her mind, causing tears to pool in her eyes.

She couldn't believe that A had actually tried to kill her and she was, of course, utterly relieved that the faceless monster hadn't succeeded in their task.

She pressed her head against the pillow and closed her eyes, causing the tears to run down her cheeks.

"[Y/N/N]?" a voice called along with the sound of a door opening.

[Y/N] turned her head in the direction of the familiar voice and through her blurred vision, she recognized the form of her older brother, Sid. She blinked a few times to clear her eyes while her brother was already wiping the tears away from her cheeks before cupping them in his hands.

"You're okay, buddy, you're okay," Sid told her gently. The way he comforted her reminded her of the way he would do so whenever she injured herself when she was younger. His presence alone gave her strength and made her forget the fear that came along with the memory of the accident.

She sniffled before smiling at her brother, "Can you help me sit up, please?"

"Of course, hold on," he replied as he slid his hands underneath her back and gently lifted her into a seating position. Then, while holding her with one of his arm around her shoulders, he arranged the pillows behind her back so that she could sit comfortably. "This okay?"

"Yes, thank you," she sighed and Sid sat next to her, taking her hands in his. "Are Mom and Dad here too?"

"They're actually on their way here as we speak," he answered. "I sent them home last night because I figured they could use some rest."

"You should've gone home too," [Y/N] spoke, scanning the tired features of her brother's face. "Did you get any sleep last night?"

"Sleep was the last thing on any of our minds, buddy," Sid shook his head, closing his eyes for a brief moment. Thinking back to the previous night, where he had almost lost his baby sister, only brought him complete distress. "Though I sent Mom and Dad home to get some rest, they didn't. All they did was call and text me, asking if you had woken up or not. Besides, there was no way I was leaving you along here while the monster who did this to you is still out there."

"I'm so sorry for worrying all of you," [Y/N] whispered, tears gathering in her eyes again.

"It's not your fault, kiddo," her brother's reply was instant. "But, what happened last night, [y/n/n]? The police told us that it was a hit and run."

"I think that's what happened," [Y/N] answered slowly. Her brother knew her so well and it was very difficult for her to tell him only half of the truth while looking into his eyes. "Hanna and Mona had a small misunderstanding, I guess. Then, Mona disinvited Hanna from her birthday party and well, Hanna snuck in. Aria, Emily, Spencer and I went to meet her in the parking lot. I was crossing the parking lot first to catch up to Hanna when the car came out of nowhere."

"I swear when they catch that monster, I'm going to do everything I can to make sure they stay locked up for a very long time," Sid muttered, anger lacing his tone.

"Sid?" [Y/N] called and his eyes instantly softened, looking at her. "I'm okay. I mean, the broken leg sucks but I'm going to be alright."

Her brother smiled at her lovingly at her attempt to comfort him and pulled her into his arms, hugging her close. [Y/N] wrapped her arms around him, feeling safe and protected after the nightmare she just survived.

They were interrupted when there was a knock on the door. The sibling pair pulled away from each other and turned towards the doorway. The door was slowly pushed open and their parents entered the room, making [Y/N] smile instantly. Her parents visibly breathed out in relief at the sight of her before returning her smile.

It wasn’t long before they reached her and gathered in her in their warm embrace. Her brother, meanwhile, stepped back to let the parents have a moment with his little sister.

"You're okay," her mother, Leslie, whispered, cupping [Y/N]'s cheeks in her hands, her teary eyes scanning over her daughter.

"I’m okay," [Y/N] nodded, her own tears slipping out of her eyes. Her attention turned to her dad, James, when he caressed her hair, his worried gaze set on the wound on her forehead.

"When they find the lowlife who did this to you, I'm gonna kill them," he said quietly.

"Sid said he's gonna make sure they stay locked up for a long time," [Y/N] said with a chuckle, hoping to lessen her parents' worry over her.

"I guess that's an option too," James replied with a shrug, causing [Y/N] to laugh.

Seeing her smile was more than enough for her family and they took her in their loving embrace again, thanking the stars that, despite her injuries, she was alright.

...

It was a little later in the morning and Leslie kept her company. Her dad was out in the hallway on a call while her brother had gone home to freshen up.

Even before the knock came, [Y/N] and her mom both heard familiar voices and the sound of rushed footsteps.

"I wonder who that could be," Leslie said with a teasing smile before moving to open the door. "Hi, girls."

"Hi, Mrs. [y/l/n]," [Y/N] heard her friends greet before she saw them.

"Is [y/n/n] awake? Can we see her?" Hanna asked.

"She is and of course," Leslie replied, opening the door further for her daughter's friends.

[Y/N] smiled when she saw Hanna first and the latter didn't waste a second before moving towards the bed to hug her injured friend carefully.

"You scared me, [y/n/n]," Hanna whispered with a relieved sigh, leaning her head against [Y/N]'s.

"I'm alright, Hanna banana," she replied, rubbing Hanna's back to comfort her.

"I'll give you girls some time," Leslie said, moving to exit the room. "Call me if you need anything, okay? I'll be right out here."

"Of course," Spencer replied. "Thank you, Mrs. [y/l/n]."

Leslie smiled at them before stepping out of the room and closing the door. Over Hanna's shoulder, [Y/N] passed a smile to her other friends, who returned the gesture and waited patiently. They knew that [Y/N] and Hanna were the closest. The two were friends even before they met Alison and their bond only grew stronger after Ali's disappearance while the rest of them drifted apart.

[Y/N] frowned when she heard Hanna sniffle and pulled back from the hug. Hanna wiped away her tears before looking at [Y/N]. 

"Han," the injured girl whispered, taking in the blonde's red-rimmed eyes.

"I'm sorry. It's just that you really scared me," replied Hanna.

"No, don't apologize," [Y/N] said back, shaking her head. "I'll be okay, trust me."

Hanna nodded with a small smile and moved aside to let the other girls hug [Y/N]. Once Aria, Emily, and Spencer finished checking up on [Y/N], Hanna was quick to resume her seat next to her best friend.

"Does it hurt?" Emily asked, sitting at the foot of the bed near [Y/N]'s injured leg.

"Yeah, kind of," [Y/N] shrugged and smiled a little as if accepting that the road to recovery was going to be quite long. "So, who is it? Who's A?"

[Y/N] looked at her friends expectantly and frowned when the three girls looked at Hanna in turn.

"Uh, we didn't talk about it last night," Hanna said when [Y/N] looked at her. "I mean, I know who A is but we couldn't focus on it last night without you."

"You guys didn't have to," [Y/N] said softly, feeling touched by her friends' consideration.

"We're in this together, remember?" Aria asked from where she was sitting on [Y/N]'s unoccupied side of the bed.

"Thanks guys," [Y/N] said, squeezing Aria's hand in hers while her other hand was held by Hanna.

"Noel Kahn is A," Hanna blurted, unable to keep it to herself anymore, and her friends gaped at her.

"What?" Emily questioned just as [Y/N] asked, "Are you sure?"

"Yeah," Hanna nodded in confirmation. "I saw him in the woods and he left an A message."

"You actually saw him leave a message?" Spencer repeated, her posture still laced with shock at the revelation.

"He wrote something on the back of a car window," Hanna spoke slowly, a little hesitant this time.

"Do you know what he wrote?" Emily asked.

Hanna remained silent. [Y/N] didn't know if Emily or Spencer noticed it, but she definitely saw Hanna glance at Aria once before looking away.

"I see you," Aria spoke, gaining her friends' attention from Hanna. Her gaze was on the floor as she fiddled with her fingers nervously and the rest of the girls understood that was the message written on the car.

[Y/N] looked at Hanna first and the latter gave an uncomfortable smile. Hanna didn't want to be the one to reveal the second secret she had discovered last night -- it was totally up to Aria as it involved her. [Y/N], then, looked at Spencer and Emily, who looked as equally confused as her.

"How do you know?" Spencer was the first to question Aria.

"I was in the car," Aria replied quietly.

"Whose car was it?" Emily asked next and Aria sucked in a deep breath.

"Ezra Fitz," the petite girl's answer left her friends baffled except for Hanna.

"Wait, Mr. Fitz?" Spencer asked, her voice a little louder in shock. The judgement in her voice was extremely obvious as well. "Our English teacher?"

Aria gave a short nod and the other three girls looked at Hanna, who nodded in confirmation.

"Aria, you and Mr. Fitz?" [Y/N] asked gently, though she was still in disbelief at the idea that one of her best friends was in a relationship with their English teacher.

Aria simply nodded again in response.

"The call you got at the party?" Emily said, her eyes lighting up at the memory from Mona's birthday party. "That was him, wasn't it?"

"Yeah," Aria said with a heavy sigh and finally looked up at her friends. "Guys, I couldn't tell anyone. I promised Ezra."

"Ezra?" Spencer scoffed. "Wait, this is something that's been going on? You and a teacher?"

"I didn't just get into his car last night, Spence," Aria answered, offended. "Who do you think I am?"

"How long have you been seeing him?" Emily asked, sounding calmer and less judgmental compared to Spencer.

"Since before school started," Aria said.

"Since Labor Day?" [Y/N] asked. "That's when you got back from Iceland, right?"

"Yep," Aria confirmed.

"So, you didn't have a boyfriend in Iceland, then?" Hanna asked, her brows furrowed in confusion.

"I- I did," Aria answered, "But, it's not like that."

"And, why did you get into his car last night?" Spencer questioned Aria and the latter looked uncomfortable with all of the questions being thrown at her.

"Spence, look," [Y/N] interrupted with a sigh, rubbing her forehead. Along with her leg, her head was starting to hurt as well with the tension in the room. "Aria's relationship with Mr. Fitz is the least of our concerns right now. We just found out who A is. What are we gonna do?"

"Okay," Spencer breathed out, nodding, and turned to Hanna. "Han, what exactly did you see again?"

"Well, I saw Aria go into the parked car," Hanna said, her gaze falling on [Y/N]'s injured leg subconsciously. "Then, I saw someone in a black hoodie write something on the back of the car window. When the person turned around, it was Noel."

"So, was he the one who ran me over?" [Y/N] asked. "I couldn't really see the driver."

The girls looked at each other, wondering the same.

"I'm not sure," Hanna answered first.

"It was too dark to see the driver," Emily added.

“Guys, it couldn’t have been Noel,” Aria said suddenly. 

“Why do you sound so sure about it?” Spencer asked. 

“Because, I saw him too. Well, I didn’t see him write on the back of Ezra’s car,” Aria replied. “But, after [y/n/n] was taken to the hospital, I saw him with the rest of the crowd. I don’t think he could’ve hit her, park the car, and then come back to the site of the accident all within a short amount of time.”

“So, are there two A’s?” [Y/N] asked nervously. “Like, one is Noel who wrote the message on Mr. Fitz’s car and the other that drove me over?” 

“I do not like the sound of that,” Hanna said, leaning her head on [Y/N]’s shoulder. 

“None of us do, Han,” Spencer sighed. 

…

Later that afternoon, [Y/N] was re-reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for the nth time when there was a knock on the door of her hospital room.

"Come in," she called and marked the page she was on with her bookmark, leaving the book in her lap for the time being.

Her eyes watched in curiosity as the door slowly opened and she was taken aback when Jason slowly entered the room. He smiled at her and she noticed that he had a small lavender-colored gift bag in his hand.

"Jason?" she asked with a stunned smile.

"Hello, [Y/N]," he greeted, his smile faltering once he took in her bruised form.

"Hi! Come on in," she said and he moved further into the room, moving his eyes away from her leg that rested in a cast.

"Hey," he said in a whisper, standing next to the bed. "How- how are you?"

"I'm doing okay," she answered and he nodded. However, she could see the concern in his green eyes as they scanned over the bandage on her forehead, faint scratches on her arm, and on her injured leg again.

"My god, [Y/N], are you sure you're okay?" he asked, meeting her eyes again.

"I mean, it's not rainbows and unicorns at the moment," she chuckled. "But, I'll be alright."

He breathed out a laugh, shaking his head.

"What is it?" she asked curiously.

"Your positivity," he replied, smiling at her in rather awe. "It's amazing, really. I remember Ali used to go on and on about how you were the most positive out of the powerpuff girls."

"Ali called us powerpuff girls?" [Y/N] asked teasingly.

"Okay, that was me," he said sheepishly. "Sorry."

"Don't be, it's funny," she said, still chuckling before looking down at her lap for a moment. Noticing the book there, she moved it to the table beside her and faced Jason again. "Would you like to have a seat? There's the chair."

"Oh, sure," he replied before picking up the chair that was at the foot of the bed and moving it closer to her. "I met your parents and brother outside, by the way. They seemed busy on the phone."

"Don't remind me," [Y/N] shook her head tiredly. "Somehow the accident ended up on the news and everyone we know have been calling continuously. Mom, Dad, and Sid were ignoring them, but I asked them to answer the calls and just get it over with, you know?

"Besides, every time they look at me, they get this sad look in their eyes and I feel bad that I gave them this scare."

"Hey, no, it's not your fault that you got hurt," he said gently.

"I just wish I moved out of the car's way when I saw it come at me," [Y/N] said in a small voice. "Instead, I froze on the spot; it was like my brain stopped functioning."

"Do you think that it was an accident?" he asked.

"What?" [Y/N] asked, her heartbeat rising at his intent gaze on her. "I think so. I- I don't see why anyone would want to hit me on purpose."

"I have a feeling that something's going on," he spoke, continuing to look at her. "First, Ali went missing and they found her body literally after a year. Then, we did a memorial for her only for someone to destroy it so- so brutally. Then, when I saw you at the school the other day during the storm, you seemed pretty terrified after getting a text and literally flew out of the room. Now, someone ran you over with their car, [Y/N]. All of these can't be a coincidence, can they?"

"I- I don't know what to tell you, Jason," she replied with a soft sigh. She truly didn't and this topic made her feel uneasy. She had a feeling A was behind all of these incidents, but she couldn't tell Jason about them. She couldn't possibly put Jason in A's radar.

"[Y/N], please," he pleaded in a low voice. "Is there something going on? Is someone bothering you and your friends? Was someone trying to hurt Ali?"

"I really don't know," she answered helplessly and he let out a defeated sigh, dropping his gaze from hers. "If something was going on, especially if it was related to Ali, I would let you know. I promise."

He looked at her again in silence as if analyzing whether she was telling the truth or not. [Y/N] wasn't sure what he saw, but eventually, he looked convinced by her words.

"Thank you. Oh, and here," he said, handing her the small gift bag he had brought. "This is for you. It's a little get well soon present."

"Thank you," she replied, keeping the bag in her lap. "You know, you didn't have to."

"I wanted to," he shrugged, smiling.

"Well, thanks again," she replied, feeling her heart warm at his sweet gesture. She looked at the bag, but she couldn't see the contents in it due to the tissue papers he had placed in it. "What's in here?"

"Go ahead and look," he chuckled, causing her to grin sheepishly. However, she did as he said and moved the tissue papers to the side of the bag and gasped, her eyes widening.

"Oh my goodness!" she exclaimed in a whisper, taking the small otter plush toy out of the bag. She held it in both of her hands, gazing at it with heart eyes.

"Jason," she called, turning to him, and he was already looking at her with an affectionate smile. He found her reaction to the simple gift so cute and pure. "This is adorable! Thank you so much! How'd you know I like otters?"

"Guess," he said with a teasing glint in his eyes.

"Ali?" she asked and he confirmed with a nod. She was almost in disbelief at that idea that Ali had talked about them so much.

"You girls are all that she talked about most of the time," he shared with a sad but fond smile on his lips and she returned it.

"Thank you again," she said softly while hugging the otter close to her heart. "I love this little guy so much already."

"You're very welcome," he couldn't help but laugh at her words. The way she found happiness in the smallest of things made him adore her further. He didn't think the gift was a big deal. However, seeing the way she was holding the plush toy as if it was a prized possession warmed his heart and he was glad that at times he had paid attention to Ali's tales about her friends.

"So, I should get going now," he said in a low voice, regretting the words that left his lips.

"Oh, okay," she replied in an equally low voice that made him wonder if she was going to miss him as much as he would miss her the moment they would be away from each other. "Are you going to stick around here for a while?"

Was that hope he heard in her voice?

He shook away his mind voice and looked at her with guilt.

"I'm actually leaving town," he said, making her heart drop.

"Oh," a barely audible whisper was all she could manager. She cleared her throat before speaking again. "When do you leave?"

"Later today," he answered. "I'll be back, though. Soon, hopefully. Sorry, I don't mean to drop all this on you."

"No, don't be," she shook her head, a small smile stretching her lips in order to reassure him. "Are you driving?"

"Yes," he nodded.

"Drive safe, okay?" she said.

"Of course," he smiled at her. "And, you take care of yourself, alright?"

"I will," she nodded.

"And, please let me know if…" he trailed off and she understood perfectly.

"I will, Jason," there was something in her voice that made him trust her words and he nodded at her gratefully.

With one last smile, he got up and moved the chair he was sitting on to its previous position by the foot of the bed. He once again moved closer to [Y/N] to say his goodbyes. For now.

"I guess this is goodbye," he said.

"I believe in see you laters," she chuckled, making him do the same. "Thank you for visiting me and for the gifts. I appreciate it."

"Anytime, [Y/N]," he replied before his gaze dropped from her for few moments before returning back to hers. "Is it okay if I give you a hug?"

"Yes," she whispered after a few moments, subconsciously opening her arms for him. Jason leaned down and he was as gentle as possible as he held her in his arms. One of his hands cradled the back of her head against his shoulder and the other wrapped around her shoulders. [Y/N] slowly brought her arms around him and rested them on his shoulder blades.

Jason was the first to pull back from the hug, not wanting to overstep any boundaries. [Y/N] moved her hands back in her lap and smiled up at him as he looked at her.

"I'm so glad you're okay," he told her quietly, his hand holding the side of her head for a few more seconds before he stepped back, creating a little distance between them. "Please stay safe."

"I will," she replied in an equally quiet voice. "You too."

He nodded at her and slowly walked backwards before stopping at the door.

"See you later, [Y/N]," he said with a smile, which she returned instantly.

"See you later, Jason," she said and watched as he stepped out of the room, closing the door behind him.

[Y/N] let out a small sigh and looked down at the otter plush, smiling fondly at it. Her heart felt a little heavy at the thought that Jason would be miles away from Rosewood, from her, soon. At the same time, his word of coming back soon made her feel relieved.

Kenny Smith: Oh my god! It’s- (turns) it’s- it’s- Oh, me. Thank you. (gestures to audience member) So, sweet. Really.

(to audience) Okay, you guys. You know the drill. We got the man. I need all of you- I swear, he could just start a cult right now, because (audience laughs) he could just make all of you do horrible, horrible things. (audience laughs) It’s okay.

You know the drill ladies. You got people behind you. They need to be able to see. Take your picture, move along. Let’s create a system. You guys are already pros at this (audience giggles) and we love you for it.

Are you ready, ladies? (audience screams and claps.) I can’t hear you. (audience screams harder and claps)

(shakes head) He (?serves us?). (holds up clip board and leans over) Stop it. (audience laughs) What the hell am I thinking?!

Audience member: We love you Kenny!

Smith: He stars as Sam Winchester! (audience screams and claps) He’s Supernatural! And he really is a hellva nice guy. (audience laughs) ..Please give it up.. for none other, Jared Padalecki, the man! (audience screams, claps, and cheers)

One of the double doors opens and Jared walks into the convention ballroom, clapping and waving to the crowd. Jared walks on stage and is greeted with Smith kneeling to him with the mic held out towards him. Jared awkwardly kneels to accept the mic. Then they both stand straight up.

Jared: (off mic) I’ve never been- (on mic) I’ve never been knighted before like that. (Smith throws his hands up)

Smith: (to audience) (off mic) It’s what I do. (turns and leaves the stage)

Jared: (waves to the audience) Hi, guys. (audience screams and claps) (smiles and sits down) Thanks for coming out. Sorry.. that things got crazy. But, thanks for waking up early.

Um, (points out into the crowd) you’re having a latte. (looks to the other side) And you’re having a, uh.. (wiggles head) triple, quadruple.. expresso. (audience chuckles) (nods) That’d be a lot of expresso, huh. (audience chuckles)

Jared: Reno! (nods) Nice. (gestures to AM) (Audience member: Florida!) It’s such a shorter trip to Vegas. I would’ve- I would’ve been like, (mimics weighing on his hands) “Jared. Vegas. Jared-” (waves and then mimics leaving) “I’m going to Vegas, you know.” (audience laughs and no’s)

Jared: Yeah. (nods) Yeah. That’s true. Um, you always walk away poor and fatter. (Audience member: Yeah!) (audience giggles) At least, I do, so. It kind of sucks for me.

But, Yeah. (nods) Apparently, she had a great time.

Jared: We should try and get everybody together and do one of those Matrix style things where you just flip through the pages. (gets up) I’ll move really slowly. Everybody take a lot of pictures.

Jared slowly shifts his weight onto one leg and raises the other up, balancing with one arm out. The audience laughs and cheers. Jared tries to rotate his body but starts losing his balance. He stands straight up. The audience claps.

Jared: (crosses legs) That’s interesting. Um, Jensen has a lot more time to plan. (audience giggles) (smacks lips) He’s a sneaky ole bugger. (audience laughs) But, um, uh, let’s think. I’ve done.. I’ve done my fair share of things to him.

Uhh, I-I tell the, uh, wardrobe lady sometimes to sew up  (laughs) the underside of his pants. (audience laughs) And so, (stands up and mimics Jensen) he’s putting his pants on going, (mimics struggling to put his leg through the pants leg) “Why can’t I?” And so, I hear back later- I- Usually because our trailers are always next to each other. I hear, “Jared!” (audience laughs) “Dammit!” And so.. you know, I know I got him.

But, I usually use the help of people. But, I learned early on, also, that, um.. as the only two actors.. on.. the, uh, set normally, unless we have, obviously, one of our reoccurring guest stars or one of our, um, (throws up a hand) temporary guest stars, that we need to team up a lot more than we need to.. work against each other.

With people like Kim Manners, who have been around fer.. a few more years in the business than we have, um, we’re more on the same team now than, um.. against each other. So now, we’re working to plan.. stuff against Kim Manners, specifically. (audience laughs) So.

(points in the crowd) I-I saw a hand in the back earlier… (shakes his head and points again) I’ll go with you.

Fan: (off mic) Me?

Jared: That’s right. (fan laughs)

Fan: (off mic) Okay. Hi. (Jared: [off mic] Hi.) Um, I don’t really have a question, just have something I want to tell you.

Jared: (off mic) Alright. (fan giggles) (on mic) Easier for me. (laughs) (audience laughs)

Fan: (off mic)Yeah. (laughs) Um, I wanted to thank you very much for playing Sam because Sam’s helped me through a lot of issues in my life. (Jared nods) I lost my husband six years ago and Sam.. eh-With his loss with death has really helped me and my life. (audience aw’s)

And (huffs a laugh) on top of that w-with Supernatural, I have met some really incredible people online. (Jared: [off mic] [nods] Right.) And we have a little group called the “Supernatural Geek Team.” (laughs) (audience giggles. Jared smiles) And there’s four members here today. (Jared: [off mic] Nice.) The fifth one is not here.

The fan makes their way across their row and down the aisle, up to the stage holding two t-shirts, a red one and a blue one.

Jared: And thank you so much for your.. very kind words also. I mean, we always say this, but we mean it when we say it, (stands up) like y’all really are the reason for the show and.. you know there’s a lot of work out there. (steps down from the stage to meet the fan) And.. that’s why we’re excited to be doing this.

Jared says thank you off mic and gives the fan a hug. The audience aw’s, claps, and cheers. The have an exchange off mic where Jared nods a lot.

Fan: (off mic) (?This red one’s for Jensen. You get the blue one?). (giggles)

Jared: (off mic) Alright. (turns and looks at the blue shirt) I hope I get to be sergeant also. (audience laughs) (nods) Okay, good. (steps back up on stage and then turns back to the fan) As long as it wasn’t gonna- it’ll just- eh-eh- I hope- What’s- I’m sorry?

Fan: (off mic) It’s (?)

Jared: Oh, right on! Cool. (sits back down)

Fan: (off mic) (?)

While Jared is about to sit back down the fan turns and show him what’s on the back the shirt.

Jared: (laughs) Nice. Sammy’s girl. (sits down and nods) (audience screams) That’s right. (audience cheers and claps) Thank you. (nods) That’s right. Sammy’s girl. Pay attention. (audience laughs)

Smith: (off stage) Jared, we have a microphone now.

Jared: Oh, we do have a microphone.

Smith: People- People raise their hands and we’ll send a microphone out to you.

Jared: Right on. (Smith: (?)) (to Smith)..I wanted to be the one with the mic. ‘Cause then I can just start talking into it and everybody kind of just has to listen. (Smith: (?Maybe?).) (audience giggles) Now I have to share the stage. (scrunches his face) (audience chuckles)

Audience member: Over there.

Fan: Hi, Jared. I had no idea. It’s very nice to meet you.

Jared: (sits up) (falsetto) “Hi, Rachel.” (audience laughs)

Fan: Um.. So, in the last three seasons you guys killed a lot of nasties and you’ve used a lot of different methods. Of all the different weapons and techniques you’ve used- you- your characters have (Jared nods) used to kill a bad thing, or not kill them, just get rid of them, what’s your favorite to work with.. of all the weapons?

Jared: That I’ve ever worked with? Or to keep working with?

Fan: Either. Both! Let’s do both.

Jared: You know what? I love the sawed-off shotgun. (audience cheers) (nods) Yeah.

Fan: (chuckles) Better than the regular shotgun?

Jared: Yeah, (nods) you got to go- Yes, sawed-off is better than regular. But, (slaps knee) I was talking at breakfast, I had a great breakfast morning, and I was talking about- (throws up hand) Well, we were talking about the episode with Gordon where I did the barbed wire thing. (audience yeah’s and claps) Yeah.

And though I was so- it was one of those hard things, because.. I love Sterling. He’s an awesome guy. He’s really talented. He’s really fun to be around. Um, and so I was like, “I don’t want him to die.” (audience laughs) But, I was like, “But, I get to kill him really cool, so.” (smiles) (audience laughs) “That’s alright.” And I started (mimics holding a razor wire) to get the little thing. And I’m like, “Okay, what do I do now?” You know?

Um, but that was kind of the most exciting. Also, because it’s sort of where we saw Sam, um, (nods) get to be badass- bad butt. (stares wide eyed around at the audience) (audience laughs) (snorts)

Audience member: You can say badass.

Jared: (shrugs with his hand) Okay. Okay. Well, I said it. But there’s a-

Fan: Are you kidding? I screamed my voice last night. Yesterday I was, like, rejecting my whole life.

Jared: (laughs) Okay, good.

Fan: (laughs) So, um.. This isn’t my question. (Jared nods) This is my best friend’s question. (Jared: [off mic] Okay.)

If you could have one day- live one day without any consequences, what would you do? (audience oo’s)

Jared: What I’d do?

Fan: You can’t kill anyone.. because she says she’d be creeped out.

Jared: (shakes his head) I wouldn’t kill anyone in here. (Fan and audience laughs) (smiles)

Fan: But.. yeah, other than that, what would you do?

Jared: Uh… without, uh, any consequences… (shakes head) Like, you’re not gonna die if you..

Fan: (off mic) Start electrocuting yourself? No. (laughs)

Jared: I think, I’d- Well, first off, I think my first reaction is I’d eat a lot. (audience laughs) Man, (shakes head) I’d find the best buffet or something. Especially, because I guess you’re not paying for it? (audience laughs) ‘Cause that’s no consequences, so. (audience laughs)

..I’m kind of getting interested in this day now. (smug look) (audience laughs) I’m gonna be in the airplane going home, going, (tilts head, looking up) “What else could I do?” (audience laughs) I’d probably have a lot of food. I’d probably have a lot of steak or something. (audience woo) (smiles)

(points into the crowd) I see a li- a sweetie in the back, putting her hand on the stage. Could you yell up to me, because I don’t know where the microphone went?

Audience member: It’s here!

Audience member: Behind the pretty redhead. (audience member laughs. Jared makes a scrunched face)

Audience member: With the girl standing.

Fan: Um… Um, what was the hardest “Supernatural” episode that you ever did?

Jared: The hardest? That’s a great question. Um, for me the hardest “Supernatural” episode I ever did was actually the last one we shot before the strike, which aired, um, before.. “Jus In Bello.” But we actually shot “Mystery Spot,” at the very end.

And it was where Dean dies a lot. (audience chuckles and agreement) And that was really hard for me, because, um, it-it was- I mean, it was very fun episode to shoot, uhm, (rotating motion gestured towards his mouth) with the talking over each other and everything like that.

But, to have to keep on.. getting in the mindset of somebody who’s watching your brother and best friend die- Because if you don’t find the truth.. in the character and you don’t find the truth in the moment, then there’s no use in you really acting it. You’re just being lazy.

And Kim and I worked it out, because we were like, “Should he be angry? He’s gone through so much that.. It’s all there, the anger and the sad, but he’s just pushed it down so much that he’s just on a mission, you know?

Fan: So, when you went on set, somebody would go, “Okay, Dean, you have to stand there.” Did you, like, go over or when you heard, “Dean” did you turn?

At first- Now everybody calls us Jared and Jensen, but at first (swipes hand) no one knew anybody? And so, it was Sam and Dean. It was, uhm, you know, “Sam’s over there. Dean’s over there.” (wiggles) And so I just start walking. And there I’d see Jensen like, “What are you doing?” (audience laughs) I’m like, “What are you doing?” (audience laughs) (points and leans back) Like, “Oh yeah. My favorite episode I’ve filmed.. would be, uhm… (inhale) That’s a very good question. I’ve never really thought about that. I’ve thought about sort of stuff I’m either proud of or sad with.

But you know what? I- I always go back to the episode “Skin” where Sam and Dean fought. And it was a lot of fun. It was sort of.. the first time in the shooting of “Supernatural” that.. we.. did something so drastically different.

I mean, it was the seventh episode of the series so, um.. So, we were sort of doing the same thing. Huntin’- Hunting a monster and killing it, and then going home. Hunting a monster, killing it, going home. It was like, “You’re gonna fight your brother.” It was like, “Ooo.” I kind of like the, uh- I like the idea of it.

And, um.. I didn’t like that he won, (audience laughs) but I like that he then killed him.. after he won. Which, was kind of bizarre. But, it was a lot of fun to shoot (nods) that sequence.

They just.. are fighting the demon version of the other.

Fan: Hi. Um, when Supernatural’s over, what are you going to miss the most about.. playing Sam Winchester or.. the entire experience? Because I know you’ve said (Jared nods) that everybody is really close-knit. And everybody has said that.. (Jared nods) yesterday. So, you know, what is- what are you gonna miss the most?

Jared: Um.. I know from sort of.. I guess (squints and shrugs) from kind of experience, like I sort of dealt with this during the strike. ‘Cause, you know, we didn’t know if it was over or not. So, I sort of started missing things about the show, ‘cause we didn’t know if we were coming back.

And I missed the comradery. I missed the comradery that.. this show.. breeds. (gestures around) Like, even between.. us sitting here today. Um.. from the producers and the writers and the people who are making the show, to everybody who works in the cast and crew, to everybody who keeps this show going, there’s such a family aspect to it.

And I’ve worked on some great sh- Like, “Gilmore Girls”? I had a great time. I got along with everybody. I made buddies. I just ran into Milo a week ago, and it was like old times. But, um- But.. this (taps his knee) has been such a family. Like, (gestures to the crowd) I’ve seen so many faces. And got so much support that I feel like from the support of the fans of this show alone I could (flings hand up) go for the rest of my career and not.. get anymore support and be fine, ‘cause I know that people (nods) have been so supportive.

So, I’d have to say.. the.. just general comradery and brotherhood and family that “Supernatural” has built. (shrugs and nods)

Um, Sandy and I were at a museum over the.. holidays? And people were sitting down sketching sculptures. Um.. there was a line. I can’t remember exactly what the line is. It’s “Sam Winchester wears make up. Sam Winchester cries.. (turns his head and says quietly off mic) his way through sex.” Um. (laughs) (audience laughs) (squints and looks around) Eh- “And every morning when he-“

..Okay, it was something like.. the- the line where I say- (gestures) Or we say, “And every morning when he wakes up he- (waves hand up) Okay enough!” He would.. do it too early. He’d say, “Every morning when he wake up- wakes up- (waves hand up) Okay! Enough!” And I’d be like, “You’re supposed to say he!” (audience laughs)

And then so- and then.. I wouldn’t say “he,” because I figured (gestures) he wasn’t gonna say it. (gestures) And then he’d say it. (audience laughs) And I was like, (throws hand out) “Well, what are we doing?!” (audience giggles) You know?

But, he’d- he’d like skip a line. But, we had done it, um- We ride together to work, um, every day. We get picked up and go to work. And so, we have about thirty to forty-five minutes in the beginning of the day to go through our lines and think of ideas and to (back and forth gesture) run through cool moments or what we’re gonna do.

So, we knew that day was going to be big. Because they wanted it to be.. (snaps fingers on a beat) you know, very crisp. And so, we just read the- I had him read it a bunch of times, because the idea is that Sam is mimicking.. Dean. And so, I wanted to know.. what he- how he would say it as Dean.

So, I just had him read it.. again, again, again, again. And I started.. kind of doing it silently as he was doing it. And I was like, (shrugs) “Alright, let’s try it.” And so we gave it a shot. But also right before that scene, uh, we sat in his trailer.. and just were going (rhythmic hand chop gesture) “Dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah.”

And then we sort of put our heads down and went straight to set.  And we’re like, (swipes hand and gets up) “Don’t talk to us.” (hand chop gesture) We’re like going, “We’re in the zone.” (audience laughs) And so, um- And then we got to set and he ruined it all anyways. (audience laughs) (sits back down)

But, uh, yeah. (nods) That was a lot of fun. That was- When I read that I was like, “That’s gonna be really fun to shoot.” And the only hard- The hardest part was not laughing, because everybody else was laughing. (audience giggles) And so- And it was sort of-

(sits up and holds up a finger) You know what, I also remember- This is weird. Uhm.. (laughs) eh- but as you’re doing it, you’re so surprised and happy that it worked.. that you sort of forget that you have another line coming. (audience laughs) So, (wiggles head) you’re going, 

“Uh, you don’t know everything.” “Yes, I do.” “Really?” “Yeah.” “..Sam Winchester wears make up.”

And then you’re like, (excited face) “We did it.” (audience laughs) And then you’re like, (rushes) “Oh yeah, Sam Winchester cries his way through sex.” (audience laughs) (blinks and jerks) “We did it again!” (audience laughs)

And so, you keep on getting excited that you’re doing it that you sort of think about how (pumps eyebrows) cool it was that (proud wiggle) you just talked at the same time. You’re like, “Yeah. We kick ass.” Kick butt. (grimaces) (audience laughs)

But, um, we ended up getting it on (laughs) camera. (flings hand up) So, I guess it worked. (laughs) Thanks.

Fan: Hi. (Jared: Hey.) My name’s Kevin from the UK. (Jared: Nice.) Uh, we’re way, way behind in the, uh, airings. I think we had the Christmas episode about two or three weeks ago.

Jared: Okay.

Fan: That was quite lighthearted in terms of, well, the mutilations and evil Santas. But, (audience and Jared chuckles) lately there’s quite a dark undertone. Do you enjoy doin’ the light hearted stuff more, like when you had the luck char- when you had the unlucky charm where you lost your shoe down the drain? (audience chuckles) That sort of stuff. (Jared: [off mic] Yeah.) Do you enjoy that mainly? Is that break up the whole dark tone of the whole series a little bit?

Jared: You know what? I enjoy it. I’ve never- And I’m (shakes head and hand swipes) totally not fishing here. (hand swipes) I’ve never thought I was funny. I’ve never been like, (mimics confidence) “Yeah.. I can.. get up there and act funny,” you know? I’ve always really liked drama. Um.. and so, it’s been a fun opportunity- That’s why they don’t give me a lot of funny stuff. They’re like, “He’s not funny. (laughs) Don’t give him funny stuff.”

But, anyways, I also- Sam’s such a serious character or has been and it’s such a dark show that it’s hard to really work in comedy, uh, seamlessly. Uh, and we’ve had a few funny episodes. Like we had, uh, one, uh, (points) that- that is a funny one where.. the bad, uh, rabbits foot, and, you know, the “Hell Hounds” episode and the “Tall Tales” episode.

But, um, I have a lot of fun doing it. And I think it’s pleasant to break up the, uh.. to break up the dark. (shrugs) I mean, someone.. someone famous.. said, um, “If you make ‘em laugh, then you can make ‘em cry.” You know? And it’s just the idea that you need the yin and the yang. It can’t just be, you know, “Here we are.. only gonna be dark and scared. And I’m going to be only scared for an hour.”

Like, I think, the writers want to laugh and be scared and cry. The audience wants tah laugh and be scared and, (shrugs) you know, scream and throw things at the- (shakes head) you know. (audience chuckles) So, you-you want to have everything. And I think… I think adding humor actually helps.. accentuate the dark side of the show. (shrugs and nods)

Jared: Yes. Um, a lot of times.. when I’m really heavy in the show, um, it’s hard to be scared because you remember shooting and everything and you’re like, (waves hand and rolls eyes) “Oh yeah, here comes the scare.” But.. the- the one I can remember most recently that really scared me was, uh, “The Kid’s Are Alright” with the little (gestures to mouth) suckling kids. (audience giggles) Um, and the whole reflection thing.

That always scares me, (shakes and swipes hand) where the camera’s coming around (mimics camera pan) and you’re like, “There’s gonna be somebody behind him,” (audience giggles) you know? And you’re just going, “Ew, I can’t wait.” But then it breaks back and then they’re (gestures) behind them on the other side. And you’re like, (scrunches up body) “I wasn’t ready for that! (thumbs behind) I wanted him to be over there with the camera.” (audience giggles)

But, that really scared me. And their faces and.. yeah. When you see them through the mirror and the glass, that was kind of.. spooky. So, yeah, they do scare me.

Most of the times.. w-when I watch the show I’m like... being self-critical or like, “Oh, I wish I would have done that. I wish I would’ve done this.” But that show was really, uh, like De- a Dean episode, you know what I mean? It was all about his backstory with the kid. I think I had two days off. Um, which is (shrugs) ..(shakes head) you know, more than I’ve ever had. (audience chuckles) So, uh- so, I got to watch the show as an audience member. And I remember It scared me.

He was (swipes hand) a lot of fun to shoot with. He was a cool guy and he did a great job. And.. (piling up gesture) added a.. whole new adult element and aspect to the show.

Um.. I always like the reoccurring.. (squints eyes) demons.. for some reason, because I feel like.. you know, usually if you’re writing demons that have to be killed off. But even from (counts on fingers) the demon that was Nicki Aycox in season one (audience claps and woo’s) (nods and gestures to the audience) that ended up becoming Sam. And season two for a little bit. (nods)

Yeah, because I think it started to give us an insight into what it is we’re going against. You know, we know ghosts are bad and wendigos are bad. And bugs are bad. (audience laughs) And so, you know- you know, kill those things.

But, um- But it’s really interesting trying to figure out- ‘cause I still like to watch it as an audience member whenever I can and trying to figure out what the writers are thinking. Like, I’m in the same boat as y’all guys. I’m going, “What are the writers doing? What are trying tah.. hint at in this episode that we’re going to see in three episodes and go ‘Ew, yeah. remember when this happened, blah, blah, blah?’?”

So, I like the reoccurring demons. (nods) ..And I guess (gestures to audience) Ruby’s been a really cool character because she’s- she’s revealed so much about.. Sam. And we’re going, “Wait a second, here’s this demon saying.. that, uh, that Sam was supposed to be the leader and, like, she’s trying tah get him to turn into.. (wobbles head) a demonoid?” (chuckles) (audience chuckles) Demoniod? Mandroid. Um, (audience laughs) (points into crowd) (a section cheers) (nods and laughs) Yes.

Um, so, I-I like the reoccurring demons. I think they tell us a lot about the show. (nods)

Jared: (exhales) …Wow that’s a great, um, great, great, great question. I think.. mmost recently, um.. the classic film that I- I sort of watched, partially because I hadn’t seen it in a while and partially because.. I was working with him, was “Lawrence of Arabia” with Peter O’Toole.

And that- I watched it and it’s.. (shakes head) I mean, it’s a- a meal of a movie. It’s three- It’s two discs and three something hours, or four hours. And it’s never (hand swipe) boring and it’s (hand swipe) never slow. And I think his character.. L. Lawrence, you know, and- is- is.. so powerful and such a leader.

And it’s (sits up) exactly how Peter O’Toole is, by the way. He just walks in. He doesn’t.. (hand swipes) disrespect anybody, but he commands respect just the way he holds himself. And I think that’d be a lot of fun to shoot.

Jared: Probably the smart in past tense.

Fan: And what is the hardest to, um, tap into because it’s so unlike you?

Jared: (off mic) (nods) Okay, um.. (on mic) the easiest is theee… Huh. (audience chuckles) (pumps eyebrows) That’s a great question.

I think the easiest is probably (squints) he’s analytical mind? Uhm, like I’m definitely a… I don’t want to say I’m a thinker, because that makes me sound like, “I’m intelligent.” (audience chuckles) But, I mean, I- I like to think things out. (weighing gesture) I like to try and see it from different aspects and it was easy for me to, uhm- to, uhh.. (gestures) kind of get into that aspect of Sam’s character.

You know, seeing it from this angle instead of that angle. Instead of just the first angle, trying to play.. devil’s advocate. Like, I’ll find myself arguing with Sandy sometimes and saying something that (squints and shrugs) I don’t even think is true, (shrugs) but I’m just saying it to see where it goes, you know? (audience giggles)

And so, I think Sam has a little bit of that. Sam’s like, (holds hand out) “Wait, Dean. Like, what about this?” You know? “What if the demon’s good?” Even if Sam thinks the demon is bad, or knows that the demon is bad, he’s saying let’s think it out first.

And the hardest part.. has been, um… The hardest part has beenn.. his willingness to.. sacrifice himself.. (audience chuckles) for, uh- for, uh, tah hunt ghosts. I mean, it’s-it’s hard tah.. It’s hard to tap into that in reality, you know? It’s hard to go like, “Oh yeah, that’s kind of how- like, how I like tah, you know, chase spirits.” (audience laughs) “Um, I’ll just tap into that part.”

So, anything to do with the supernatural has been very.. It’s-It was tough at first to find the reality, because you’re going, (sits up with chest puffed up) “Watch out for the wendigo,” you know? And you want to say it like, (imposing hero pose) “Dun-dah-duun.” But, um, (audience laughs) you have to remember that it’s real and that you’re very scared, but you know what it is. And so his knowledge of ghosts sometimes.

There’s a- there’s a scene that we just shot.. and I’m saying- and the girls saying, you know, “It said ‘Come to me.’” And I’m going, “What words.. did he use?” And she says, “Come to me like a million times.” And then it hits Sam like, “Oh it’s this.” And I’m like, (shrugs and Texas draw) “I don’t know what it is.”

But Sam knows his dad’s journal back and forth about all these demons. So, that’s been the toughest part. (smiles)

Where is it now? I see so.. many hands.

Jared: There are many causes that are close to my heart. I- I’m obviously- I-I’ve been very upfront about how I feel about rescuing dogs and.. just animal shelters in general. (audience claps and cheers) Yeah. (pats leg)

Sandy, I know is a fan of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. (gestures) And that’s also another.. (flips hand up) (audience woos and claps) very worthy cause. Um, but, at least for me, I’ve always had a special soft spot for- for animals. (nods) (audience claps) (claps)

Jared nods.) and most of all of Wincest? (audience disapproval intensifies. Jared closes his eyes, smiles, and nods.) Because, Jared, Jensen has said a few things. We wanna know your opinion.

Jared: I’m obviously a little.. spooked by Wincest. Because I’m like, “Is that.. (scrunched face) Jensen!? Ahh!” (audience laughs) Um. (laughs)

But the fan-fiction and the RPG’s I think is- is sort of an aspect of what I was talking about earlier about how everybody’s.. (gestures) taking a part in, um- in “Supernatural.” And they’re not just (shakes head) watching it to, you know- I don’t see anybody writing.. episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy,” you know? Like, “And then the doctor will say this and use a scalpel.” But they become really passionate.. about the show.

And then I think, um- I think especially for the fans of “Supernatural” it’s great. It’s a great.. (expanding gesture) learning tool and (expanding gesture) exploring tool to explore this world. (shrugs and nods) So, I’m supportive. (nods and smiles) (audience claps and cheers) (pats mic)

But, (nods) yeah, yeah. I’d have to agree with you on that.

Fan: What’s your favorite and what would you like to do? (?Star?) in a new one?

Jared: I’d say- I’ve- I’d totally say “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly,” (fan giggle) um, is my favorite, (holds up hand) not to just steal from you. But, that’s where originally got me, um, into Westerns. That’s my father’s.. second favorite movie. His favorite is “Ben-Hur.” (shrugs) (audience laughs and a woo) And his second favorite is “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly,” so he would watch it regularly.

And I’d- I’d sit down- At first when I was a kid I was like, (scrunched face) “I need more explosions,” you know? Like, “What’s with all this sand and stuff?” But, now as I’ve grown older and thought, “It’d be cool to be tough.” I’d definitely go with “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly”.

Fan: I think that they’re- really they’re awesome when you do ‘em. I mean, (Jared: Thank you.)  you do really good with your facial expressions.

Jared: Yeah. (shakes head) No, I never- I’ve never known. That’s- that’s the God’s honest truth. I-I- When I was working with, um- It’s such a name drop, but when I was working with Peter O’Toole, who’s obviously an amazing, amazing actor, arguably the greatest of all time, he was saying he’s never, ever, ever, ever in his life done a line to a mirror. He’s saying never.

And I.. thought it and I was like, “Let’s see, eight Oscar nominations and he doesn’t care what he looks like.” He says, uh, “It should just come out through you and you shouldn’t.. be worried about what you look like doing it, because it’ll come across.” So, I just sort of try and- I read things like that. Like, I read things Daniel Day-Lewis writes and, you know, Johnny Depp writes or actors, eh- “Inside the Actors Studio” and I try and.. be like them. (smug face) So, I can say I’m like them. Fan: Um, in “Bad Day at Black Rock” what was harder, all the falling down or being set on fire? (audience laughs)

Jared: (to audience) We had breakfast together. She waited all this time to ask so she.. (yanks himself to adjusts his posture) embarrass me in front of y’all guys.

Um.. (nods) the set on fire is always.. (squints) odd when they tell you. When they tell you, “You’re gonna do a funt scene-“ a-a funt scene? “A stunt scene.” (scrunches face) Funt? What’s a funt? (audience laughs) Uh, when they tell you you’re gonna do a stunt scene, like, a falling stunt scene, you’re like, “Okay. You know, I’ll put knee pads on.. make sure I don’t.. bust my kneecap open or my elbow or something.”

But, then when they tell you, “Oh yeah, next episode we’re gonna set you on fire.” You’re like, (leans forward laughing and hand swipes) “So, what’s going on next episode?” “We’re going to set you on fire.” (hand swipes) “Hah-hah-hah-hah.” (audience laughs)

So, uhm, that was definitely (laughs) kind of weird. So, I’d say being set on fire was probably the most uncomfortable thing (hand wave) I had to do for the show period. (shrugs) Because it’s.. fire. (audience laughs) (flips up hand and shrugs) Very simple, it’s not like, (flatten gesture) “Let’s keep it contained. It’s fire.” (flips up hand) It’s like putting a bear on set and going, (holds up hand) “Let’s hope he’s okay.” (audience laughs)

And plus! (gestures to audience) I mean, I have bad experience with fire. I wasn’t there on set, but during “House of Wax,” um, an errant fire burnt the stage down. So, you can’t control fire. (hands out gesture) And if you can then, (beckon gesture) we need it on set. (audience laughs) Um, so, (nods) I-I’d say that.

Jared: Is she taking care of him?

Fan: She’s taking beautiful care of him. (Jared: [shakes his head] Alright.) They’re gonna get- They’re gonna work on the engine. It’s like, the carburetor is, like, missing parts. They drove it 23,000 miles (Jared: [round nod] Oh yeah.) on only like five gallons.. a gas mile. (audience chuckles)

Fan: But, it’s still staying in the “Supernatural” family and she’s sharing with us. She’s written a whole online account on LiveJournal. So, I just wanted you to know that John’s truck (Jared: Excellent.) is still in the family.

Fan: And, he’s cared for and he’s loved. And he’s still around.

Jared: In the.. episode “Hollywood Babylon” where we visit the, uh, Warner Brother Studio to go visit the “Gilmore Girls” set, which is funny because we shot it in Vancouver, um, not where they shot “Gilmore Girls.” But it was totally o-our writers decision, um, (nods) to put in “Gilmore Girls” and have me go, “Uhhhhh.” (hand swipe) and, you know, take off.

Which is a fun little, (tossing gesture) you know, for people who don’t know “Gilmore Girls” or do know “Gilmore Girls.” Um, I find myself trying to lower now ‘cause.. (audience laughs) I’m trying to be really cool. (audience chuckles)

Guys, PLEASEEEE stop saying that Kara would choose Lena over the world. I get how it could be romantic, but she just wouldn’t. I don’t think that makes her love her any less, and I don’t think it makes her any less of a person. It’s just who she is. She’s a hero at heart, and no matter what, she’d choose to save the world. They tell us this many times [“we don’t choose. We fight.” (Strange Visitor from Another Planet 1x11) “but me, I couldn’t have lived with myself if I hadn’t. I will always make the decision I made.” (Girl of Steel 3x1) “Kara would always choose saving others, that’s just who she is.” Alex in Lost Souls 6x4). Kara will keep fighting for both lives until she can’t, and then she’ll make the choice of the world. It doesn’t make her any less in love with Lena, it makes her a character who makes hard decisions. We saw it happen exactly with Mon el. A Kara who would choose Lena over the world isn’t Kara.

If the spnepisodebracket craze has shown us anything, it's that the supernatural fanbase is extremely divided, with the lowly sam stan seemingly at the bottom of the pile. sam is always last in polls, so this is a bracket for the 10% or so who always votes for him. because yeah, there's 327 episodes of Supernatural, but how many are popular because of a dean or destiel moment? how many good episodes are drowned out because they focus on sam?

i've chosen, with some crowdsourced peer review (special thanks to @spneveryseason, @suncaptor, and @ambersock!) 125 episodes that are Sam Relevant. Some are extremely sam-centric, some just have a shot where sam looks like he's being crucified that gives me brain worms -- i tried to be generous about it to keep a relatively even seasons distribution! matchups will be random and polls will last 24 hours each. in the tradition of @spnepisodebracket (who this is obviously inspired by and would not be possible without!) i'll try to rb a gifset for every episode in the poll!

Skewed Priorities

Every time I think the Teen Wolf fandom has run out of ways to surprise me, I get bushwhacked by a take so egregiously WTF that it makes me resolve never to doubt anyone's claims of racism or misogyny in media, no matter how outlandish they sound.

QUOTE: "I think people get hung up on the first season and how Scott seemed a little more interested in Allison then the dangers that Stiles or Derek might have been in"

This person isn't a Scott hater. They're not a BNF or the Asshole Anon. As far as I can tell, they like Scott! They like the show!

It's mystifying.

Scott doesn't ignore Stiles ever. He has scenes with Stiles every single episode. Scott ditched a study date with Allison because an angry Stiles demands that he do something! The only time that Stiles is in physical danger and Scott's not present protecting him is in Wolf's Bane (1x09) when Stiles deliberately kept information from Scott in order to keep Scott away and when Peter kidnaps Stiles from the Winter Formal in Formality (1x11). Scott never discovers that Peter has kidnapped Stiles or bitten Lydia until after the end of the season because he's too busy trying to find Derek.

As for Allison, she is stalked by and Scott is threatened with her death by Peter (and Derek) not less than eight times in the first season: Wolf Moon (1x01), Second Chance at First Line (1x02), Night School (1x07), Co-Captain (1x10), three separate times in Formality (1x11), and Code Breaker (1x12). The first four were before she knew werewolves existed! Doesn't she deserve a little protection, too?

As for Derek, I cannot stand it when the fandom does this bit when they say "Derek is a poor woobie baby and why doesn't Scott see that and follow him around and take care of him! For Hale's sakes, his sister just got killed! His family's dead! He's a wreck. Scott should show him some compassion!" and then turn around and say in the very next breath "as a Hale and a born werewolf, Scott should listen to every single word that comes out of Derek's mouth, never question him, and do whatever he asks, because he's simply better."

I know where part of this comes from: The Tell (1x05).

Scott: What? Stiles: Finally! Have you been getting any of my texts? Scott: Yeah, like all 9 million of them. Stiles: Do you have any idea what's going on? Lydia is totally M.I.A., Jackson looks like he's got a time bomb inserted into his face, another random guy's dead, and you have to do something about it. Scott: Like what? Stiles: Something. Scott: Okay, I'll deal with it later.

Of course, the fandom takes Scott saying "I'll deal with this later" as him refusing to listen to Stiles! But here's the thing -- Stiles doesn't know what to do, either! The show wanted to indicate that Scott and Stiles were out of their depth, with too much they didn't know. But fandom doesn't care, because a character of color didn't snap to attention when a white male character demanded something of him. They took it as saying that Scott wasn't doing what he was supposed to do and spending too much time with Allison, because how dare he go after something he wants when the Smartest White Boy in the World and Lost Werewolf Prince aren't being his focus?

Stiles never NEVER got angry with Scott for being with Allison. He got angry with Scott because his father got hurt (and it wasn't fair to Scott). Derek got angry about Allison, but who the hell was he to determine anything about Scott's life? It's 2024, and the idea that Scott should have been Derek's and Stiles's personal manservant is alive and well.

what are your thoughts on samruby?

thank you for sending this! and OH BOY i wrote a lot. i'm so sorry. i'm putting it under a cut for everyone's sanity.

see, the thing about samruby to me is the religiosity of it all. it's about a victim unknowingly initiated into a cult. it's about a holy lamb being raised for slaughter.

firstly i can't discuss it without spilling my guts over ruby as a character!! i saw a meta the other day (and i wish i'd reblogged it bc i can't find it again) calling ruby the most devout character in supernatural. and they're right! she is! her arc is about devotion and keeping faith. she's a direct narrative foil to cas, who falls down the path of doubt and experiences a crisis of faith. For ruby, her god is lucifer, and she'll accept all persecution and undergo every trial she has to in order to fulfil her mission as his servant. and she does! she succeeds up to her death! (whereas cas fails, and lives)

she doesn't see grooming and manipulating sam as an act of corruption. it's about purification. (and we all know how sam feels about purity, aha) for ruby, the demon blood drinking is a matter of cleansing sam of human imperfection, for the purposes of presenting lucifer his ideal vessel. because the thing about sam is that he's a liminal figure. he's as human as he is monstrous - and from a demonic perspective, wouldn't his humanness be considered the infection?

the way ruby preys on sam also has a definite maternal tilt to it. from as early as s3 (like the way she says 'that's my boy!' to him in 3x04? like dean does in 1x11?). she calls him 'sammy' in a way that mirrors dean, but also evokes maternal warmth. just as dean in season 1 functions as a protector and guide for sam when he brings him back into the hunting fold, ruby does so for sam in dean's absence. sam's grief and vulnerability presents her an opportunity to take on the role of carer and mentor. she'll teach him how to use his powers! she'll guide him in what he needs to do, while he's so lost in his own suffering. sure she provides warmth and affection - but more importantly, she directs sam towards a mission, a cause for good.

she's an incredible character to pair off with sam, a character full of hope and belief that his faith might amount to something (i'm thinking of the start of s11 here - sam desperate to believe his prayers are being answered by god. only to discover it was lucifer all along) he wants to be like joan of arc - he wants the voice of heaven commanding and guiding him along a path of heroism. it's his hope and faith that make him vulnerable.

ruby takes on sam like she's a cult recruiter preying on a victim! like if you go through the stages of cult indoctrination: deception (check! she tricks him into breaking the final seal by killing lilith!), isolation (check! sam having to keep his activities w ruby a secret, driving a wedge between him and dean, eventuating in their separation), induced dependency (check! a blood addiction!). by the end of it, he's left abandoned by his loved ones, alone and entirely reliant on her and the purpose she's given him.

but luckily - sam is a character who hates being controlled above all else, so he does not have his Midsommar (2019) May Queen moment. even when he does let lucifer in, he does so as a sleeper agent. he holds onto his independent spirit to the end :")

tldr; ruby loves sam as a devotee loves their holy mission. sam begrudgingly accepts ruby, not as the divine guidance he wants, but the only one that'll speak to him.
