I feel like I'm in a different world from other artists and can't connect because so much of what I see is professional artists in the sense that it is their Job and there's their portfolio and shop link and commission prices and patreon and buy their art so they can pay rent and eat this month and on here if you don't reblog then you're killing them and if you only like the post you might as well just give them a big middle finger and on other places it's retweet repost for visibility or else you're condemning them to death (no engagement) and there's so much trend chasing and algorithm posting and here's their name (real) and face (conventionally attractive) alongside their art (product) and here are dozens of carefully edited videos of their process and behind the scenes and a link to their paypal (legal name) (business name) and reassuring posts about Make the art you want and be proud and don't let anyone tell you you can't do x technique (which actually seems quite antithetical to the rest of the stuff they do) and idk??

I'm so very far removed from all of that. And as someone who mainly lurks online but has a very extensive art project and yeah is an artist because of that, it's weirdly alienating that most of what I see labeled as being an artist is tailored to a highly commercialized and specific kind of personality and lifestyle. Doesn't usually bother me, but sometimes it kinda sucks when all of those super relatable artist posts and memes go around and I just absolutely do not relate at all.

Not me losing my mind over how good “The Hands of the Emperor” is.

I subjected my eyes to a 1,000 page ebook and finished in 4 days. Every minute of free time for the last two weeks has gone into reading more in the series. I never write down quotes but I have more than 50 from this book. I cried (good tears) on multiple occasions. I WILL be making art at some point (a promise and a threat). If you like stories about kind people working to change the world for good while trying to reconcile their own place in it, do yourself a favor and read it.

Yuichi turns to look at Leonardo and, seeing him holding the yard sale sign he was going to laminate and put up a little later, raises a brow. 

“Yes. Who else would it have been?” 

Leonardo stares at him for a second. 

“...what does this sign say?” 

Now frowning in concern, Yuichi puts down a box full of old vinyl records he was bringing outside and goes to the slider. 

“Leo… are you okay? It says “yard sale”. Have you had enough water today? Do you need to lie down?” 

The corner of Leonardo’s mouth twitches. And then he laughs. 

Yuichi doesn’t understand. 

“Leo—” 

“Yard sale!” Leonardo wheezes, tipping his head back and covering his eyes with his palm. “No, it says–” he giggles some more before leaning towards Yuichi and bringing the sign right up to his eye level, “–it says yale sale.” 

Yuichi stares at the turtle. Then at the sign. Then slowly at the turtle again. 

He flushes so hard that the tip of his nose turns bright red. 

The sign is promptly snatched from the now bent-over-in-laughter turtle, crumpled into a tight little ball and thrown in the trash. It won’t help anymore, of course – Yuichi knows that Leonardo will undoubtedly bully him for this, probably forever – but it makes him feel a little better. 

He smacks his husband upside the head as he goes to leave the room to get a marker and another piece of paper, smugly grinning at the indignant yelp. 

It’s okay. He’ll get it right this time.

I got a real treat for you guys today, they are a one of kind thing in my hatchery, Lore Hatchlings. To be specific opt-in lore kids.

My friend @spontaneite-fr started breeding for Malign Fortune years ago and I took over the last end sprint, bred them both and gened them. Still took me over half a year. Since the project seems a little bit cursed, Spont ran with that idea and created lore about an cursed gold hoard and the two Imperials that are part of it, so amazing even I wanna have a lore hatchling of them down the road.

First try, and also first egg. Citrouille the now 10 year old tundra is once more mother to every modern breed onsite - no scrolls used to influence the odds!

Cici is also the best most lovinest mom around, and one hell of a witch. She loves her children dearly and teaches each of them both how to cook and how to do a bit of non-breath based magic before they leave. They have to be ready to fend for themselves!

All but Paella, the sweet lil goldfish cracker of a Fathom, are only 10g.

All will be exalted upon reaching adulthood as my lair is nearly full.

Warning: Major spoiler for Dragon Age Veilguard below regarding Varric and Solas.

Please bear in mind I've not gotten to the end of fail guard yet but I've been spoiled in this aspect. (Yeah that's what I'm calling this action game in a preschooler-level RPG guise as I'm holding my nose in order to play it.) I know Varric is dead-killed by Solas. But I don't understand why I've yet to see any commentary at all over how an Inquisitor, Lavellan especially, forgives Solas for killing a mutual friend?

Because I can't see my Lavellan forgiving him so easily. Sure he is trying to restore the world to what it was before knowing full well demons will kill some people. I can understand that and he doesn't have blood on his hands directly. He did take measures to minimize casualties etc. But apparently killing a mutual friend with one's own hand is a step too far.

What? Does Solas say something akin to, "Oppsie I didn't mean to kill him I swear! I was aiming for his shoulder and the fate of the world and all." How do we move past this finely polished coprolite? It just makes Varric's whole story arc and life seem cheapened. Where is the memorial?

Most of all I hate how it's only Rook who didn't know he was dead. Sorry, I can't suspend my disbelief that far although I could certainly swallow the idea better if Solas misled the two companions who were there also. Certainly one of them shed some blood too, right?

Real life transparency shit time. Tattooing has been rough lately. Between the ongoing economic crisis that makes it difficult for people to even have their basic needs met let alone get tattooed (we're apparently seeing a 10% increase in grocery costs... conveniently right as minimum wage was about to go up by 30 cents 😒) and the oversaturation of the tattooing market itself (so many scratchers who "taught themselves" how to tattoo because they heard it was "good money" are now ironically making it not good money by oversaturating the market, good for them /s) I'm struggling to see how I can make a consistent living again without having to go back into retail. Maybe that's way too big of an ask at this point but if I'm barely making a living now with my tattooing as it is then going into retail just means I'll be working more for less pay.

SO all that said, I'm totally gonna combat this problem by offering another luxury service that isn't a need at all LMAO I have a Toyhou.se page now! (thanks to an IRL artist pal who's currently in their famous era and is amazing at helping the rest of us get our shit together lol)

I'll be offering adoptables as well as possibly tattoo flash (meaning flash designs you can buy and take to an artist who's willing to do them) for people to purchase and use to their heart's delight <3 Note that I'll still be enforcing a soft rule of the "no LO stuff" over this page because I don't want to be profiting directly of Rekindled or LO's assets, however I'll still be offering character design sets with loads of colorful Rekindled-like designs, so you might just find something you like that scratches that itch! Tempted to have a proper look at dragon age lore or at least like the plots of the games so I can appreciate my mutuals fics & art & metas but also I think whatever mess in my head I think of dragon age rn is funnier. Also I hear that way lies madness.
