viktor has always been the type to stay kept to himself. he doesn’t bother anyone or talk to many people besides jayce and you. rotting away in his lab at almost every opportunity presented.

..almost. he’s got a small hobby he tends to every so often, he doesn’t like to talk about it much since it’s a way for him to “de stress”. you’ve noticed lately he carries a what looks like a sketchbook that’s filled to the pages ends with things he’s been doing. pictures, and stickers and pen scribbled all inside, what else could he be doing? scrapbooking you thought!

one lazy morning though, around the crack of dawn basically, viktor was caught up in that book. going through page after page, admiring his past works. they all look similar. about the same..person?

you watch him carefully from a distance, in the hallway where his lab leads. what is so important about that book? why can’t jayce know about it? why can’t i know about it? are you hiding something crazy from me? do you feel like id judge you? all of these things race through your mind, though you reassure yourself with the fact it could just be something personal and you must respect that.

what are you so infatuated with. finally it’s about time you try and mention it, to test the waters if you will.

⌗˳⳿⤏ “viktor?” your mouth spits out, a bit of a distance between you two.

he’s caught just a bit off guard by your voice, he then relaxes just enough to give you a proper response.

“yes?” his body then turns to you, his chair fitting his body perfectly as he comfortably leans his arm on the armrest.

“i just wanted to check on you since you’ve been here for..a little while again” you take a pause before glancing at his prized possession before back at his face.

“i’ve been caught up with studies and working, im sorry i didn’t warn you beforehand. but you should be here too you know.”

“i’ve noticed you’re a fan of journalism too hm? a little expected though” you say as you step a little closer to him.

“…it’s been something i do on the side, i didn’t think you knew about journaling. you do most of that with jayce and his phone with a drink in your hand”

you freeze at his slick ass comment. as much as you wanna flick him in the forehead for it, you can’t, cause he’s right. you and jayce have been drinking quite a lot lately instead of focusing on the projects in which viktor has done most of your work.

“if i had the right to beat your ass i would’ve.” you reply while folding your arms. you take another glance at viktor’s book and there’s a familiar face in there. it looks hand drawn, a little accurate to..

“if you don’t mind, i’ve got work to finish, some that you should be helping with but there’s no point now..come back later. and bring my “partner”, i’ve got a lot of work for him.” his tall lanky figure rises from the chair as he grabs his cane, walking to the doorway and taking you with him.

“maybe one night i could show you what ive been doing..i think you’d enjoy the cage.”

the backend of the new art blog runs on tegalog instead of wordpress. i chose tegalog out of many, many many years of trial running blogging/static site generator software simply because it captures the absolute best features of tumblr & dreamwidth that i was looking for.

other advantages of tegalog are: no sneaky AI-opt-ins, no forced updates, less vulnerable code, visually customizable, braindead UI for me to post art, easy import/export, and built for *art dumps* specifically versus generic ""content"" text posts that treat art as a second class citizen ui-wise.

i also changed hosts from bluehost to [redacted host] for a 20x reduction in cost, small business support, and a clear dedication to free expression in the arts. it's a host i'm infinitesimally less likely to get kicked/dropped from should art harassers dogpile me for happily drawing kinks like incest & noncon. private message me or head on over to dreamwidth if you need the new host name.

so im pretty sure hes the baby that is seen when stan is being kicked out so i feel like he's like,, in his forties

stan lets slip the name "ford" and shermie recognizes it so they eventually reunite with him and stan and ford bully the fuck out of him. they mess with him at every opportunity when he visits they'll switch clothes and pretend to be each other, they'll wear the same clothes and weave a whole plot about ford accidentally cloning himself, do that creepy twin thing where they talk at the same time (get stuck doing that for a while leading ford to spin a theory on twin telepathy later)

ford is really protective of shermie while stan will just,, punch him if he feels like it or some shit (older sibling/younger sibling instincts)

shermie would feel really out of place i think seeing how close everyone else is, like mabel will just hop into ford's lap to show him something new she added to her scrapbook and i dont think shermie is used to seeing things like that?? maybe?? because of the people who raised him (i doubt filbrick showed much physical affection, maybe caryn did) and it'd just be like,, kind of weird for him in a way. especially if stan and ford show affection to each other like he'll see stan messing with ford's hair and them snuggling and genuinely have to bring it up later because "are you two.......?" and they cackle at him and then start gagging at the thought

dipper and mabel definitely know him better than stan and ford do, he's probably watched them over breaks like stan at least a couple of times, and while mabel tries to do her classic "SHOVE THEM INTO A ROOM AND LOCK THE DOOR THEY'RE BROTHERS THEY LOVE EACH OTHER" maneuver, dipper gives stan and ford info like "im pretty sure he likes those dumb western shows you should talk about those" to keep mostly ford from dying from anxiety during an awkward silence or something

This would be a lot but is it possible we could do both the eras tour and do you want to tell a story?

First of all, I’m cracking up at the fact that people are using the silly names I came up for the different genres of zine, thank you. To people who are confused, anon is referring to this poll. To answer your question: I was actually just thinking about this! My plan is basically, given that currently the overwhelming majority of people want to do eras tour, that’s probably going to be the winning one, but, if too many people apply (and I’m still figuring out exactly what counts as too many, but the general idea is : more than the number of smp/worlds that Joel has done to art/write about, but that also depends on who wants to do what and a million other things and honestly it might come down to just looking at a number and then evaluating how much anxiety I feel about modding that many people) then rather than telling people no, we can have people who maybe are less interested in doing a piece based on canon work together to make a story! I’ve been doing some brainstorming on how things can work and how to make this zine the best possible experience for as many people as possible, so here is a vague plan for how things will work:

This next part is extremely important zine info!! Please read it!! I’m looking at you, person about to scroll past!! Read!!

-once we know how many people are going to be participating and who those people will be, we’ll try to get everyone together on a discord server so that I can contact everyone with ease. If you don’t have discord and can’t get it for whatever reason, we’ll do our best to allow you to still participate, but you may have less of a say on what sort of piece you’ll be doing. -From there, hopefully with the help of other mods, I’ll send out like a million bajillion polls (important note: I don’t know how discord works. Everything will be chaotic) to figure out what everyone wants to do, how much structure they want for their pieces, if they want to do something more collaborative or individual, etc, etc.

-Then, me and the other mods will get together and try to figure out a game plan for how everything is going to work. This zine is likely going to be very different from other zines people may have done in the past, because I’m hoping that we go in less with a specific vision of what the end product is going to look like and then assign everyone part of it to make, but rather we go in with just the plan of “let’s create something fun and interesting about this shared interest of ours” and the end result will be a chaotic but passionately made scrapbook of art and writing dedicated to this weird little guy on the internet who makes us laugh and smile and inspires us to create. I’m being very vague, so here’s an example of how I’m kinda envisioning the process to work:

okay, we have X amount of people, and Y amount of them want to do a Joel eras tour zine. A bunch of people want to do a piece for this one thing, and none of them said they were against working with others and many said they were for it, so we’ll offer them the option of doing a scarland-artbook style collaboration on this one thing. The remaining eras people mostly said that they weren’t really interested in collabing with anyone, and we’re not seeing any major conflicts on who wants to do what, so they should be set. Z amount of the people remaining want to work on a story together, and many of them expressed that they had an idea for what to write/draw, so we’ll work with them to figure out the general plot, and make sure that it still stays connected to Joel. There are a few people who don’t really know what they want to work on, or would like to know the options before making a decision, so we’ll work with them to find something their interested in contributing to.

Then we’ll have a mod to monitor each group to help them stay on track within the scope of the zine, and it is my hope that things should be very collaborative for those who are interested in that and open to that, and that its an enjoyable experience and an opportunity to meet other people interested in the same thing.

this doesn’t mean that 100% we’ll be able to do both, but (and this is a little bit personal bias cause I’m definitely most interested in do you want to tell a story) if enough people there are interested in that, then we’ll do our best to make it happen!

Gift Giving- An Aro Alix Kubdel Ficlet

Second Pride Month ficlet. This one taking pace in what is very clearly an early divergence AU so, the specific time doesn't matter much. 😁 This one was longer than the 750 limit, but I didn't want to shave any off so, oh well, 978 words it is.

“Should I get her chocolate? Chicks dig chocolate, right?”

“Alix, you’re a ‘chick’ too, you know.”

“Ehn, still up in the air.”

Marinette leaned around the display to peer at her friend. Alix was setting down a small gold-wrapped and expensive looking box. Caught, she snatched her hand back quickly, sticking her chin out and tilting her head up at the same time.

“What?” She challenged.

Marinette blinked, “What what? You literally pulled me here after school.” She rubbed one wrist as she looked around the gift shop and mumbled, “How do you do that on wheels.”

Alix shuffled over to some cards. “You were just going to go moon over some new pictures of Adrien anyway.” 

Marinette adjusted her backpack, which completely coincidentally happened to contain the latest issue of La Verve Paris and a 10 page spread on Adrien. The scrapbooking tools already laid out on her desk at home could be for anything.

“Why me though?” She deflected.

Alix was frowning at a card she’d picked up. She opened it, made a face, and put it back down again. Her hand moved back to it, but became a fist. She let out a frustrated growl.

“Because you and Alya are like, best friends. You’ll know what she would like.”

Marinette beamed at the thought of being helpful. “Okay, you got it! So what’s the occasion?”

Alix shuffled to a shelf with some figurines on it and poked one despondently. “Three month anniversary.”

“So cool! The three month anniversary is very important. You have to-” Marinette’s brain caught up with her mouth, “Wait, whaaat?”

She grabbed Alix by the shoulders, looking her in the eyes, “Anniversary? Dating? You and Alya? How do I not know about this?”

Alix squirmed free, “I don’t know. It’s not like… a thing.”

Marinette took a deep breath, calming herself. She was fine, it wasn’t a thing, no big deal…

“When did you start dating?” She yelped.

Alix shrugged, siddling to another shelf. “Iunno. It just kinda happened. She’s cool, right?”

Marinette followed, “Cool, right, very cool. You know that, I know that, but…” she pleaded with her eyes for more.

Alix sighed and gestured vaguely. “Well, she was always running off after Ladybug -Did you know she can do some wicked Parkour?- and getting herself in trouble. I just… followed her a couple times, my wheels made it easy. I pulled her fat out of the fire, but she would keep at it. She always wanted those pictures, and the latest scoop. Nothing slowed her down. Eventually I had her give me the camera. Wheels, right? I can get in and get out. She’d want info though after an akuma so she’d spend all night grilling me. Her mom makes awesome food by the way. Since we already hung out a lot, and she’s a hottie, when she asked I said yeah.”

Alix shrugged again.

“It’s no big deal.”

It was a lot to take in, but it made Marinette smile, “That sounds so cute! A match made in danger!”

Alix grimaced.

Marinette scooted back in, taking a porcelain elephant out of Alix’s hands and swapping it with a half kilo bag of fine ground coffee and a mug that read, ‘I’ll sleep when I’m published.’ The mug had a stuffed bear stitched to look like it was sleeping tucked inside.

Alix examined the offerings, “This is good for an anniversary?”

Marinette nodded, “You see the bear is a classic and coffee she likes but it also says ‘I want to stay awake and spend more time with you’ and-”

“Ouch!” Alix had looked at the price tags while Marinette rambled.

Marinette wilted a little, “Too much? I can pick out something cheaper…”

Alix glared at the numbers a moment longer as if she might intimidate them into vanishing. “It doesn’t matter, I can kiss new bearings for my skates goodbye for a while, no matter what.”

Her expression shifted from anger to resignation, and even timid.

She asked, “She’ll like them though?”

Marinette nodded, but also tried gently to take the mug from Alix. “You know, Alya’s not like that. If it’s a problem right now, I’m sure you don’t need to get her anything.”

Alix pulled it back quickly, snapping, “Yes I do. You don’t understand.”

Marinette held up her hands, “Seriously, Alya won’t think you love her less, if that’s what you’re worried about.”

“Ugh!” Alix threw down the gifts.

Marinette saved the mug by a quick dive. She blinked at Alix’s back as the other girl stalked away. In five steps though she’d turned around and trudged back. She crouched and helped Marinette up.

“Sorry,” She grated, brushing Marinette off. “You don’t get it though.”

Marinette held onto the gifts, “Tell me?”

Alix pulled her cap off and ran a hand through her hair. She gave the bag in Marinette’s hand a desultory swat with her hat. “I hate this stuff. Well, not hate, I just think it’s lame. it’s all schmoopsy junk to me. Alya likes it though, and she deserves it. It’s just not easy for me. Some people know when you are just supposed to. I don’t, but I can remember dates and times. One month, three months, six months, birthdays, holidays, you get the idea.”

Alix replaced her cap and took the gifts.

“That way, she gets what she deserves, even if I don’t understand it.”

Marinette thought about that long enough for Alix to start shuffling her feet awkwardly. Finally Marinette plucked the coffee from Alix’s hands and replaced it with a card. “Write what you just told me, in here. This’ll cost you half as much and she’ll like it ten times more.”

Alix fumbled the card uneasily, opening it to the blank interior. Her features set slowly and she glanced hopefully up at Marinette, “You really think so?”

Am I (40M) The Asshole For Ruining My Friends’ (29F and 79M’s) Careers to Protect My Girlfriend (68F)?

So for the past 2 years, me and my friends, who I shall call C (79M) and M (29F) have been working together. Awhile back, I managed to get yet another score in my incredible, notorious solo career that’s been kicking for many a fabulous decade (I’m choosing to stay vague and anonymous as I’m sure you would recognize me and my talent were I to go into any further detail,) as a project in the field had had its head fired and I was offered to take it over. However, an incident came up just as the project was about to kick off, and due to the nature of me and my friends’ jobs, we started up a new project figuring out the cause of the incident.

One of the people I met for this project, who I shall call L (68F,) I have recently started a lovely relationship with. At the tail end of our first date about a week ago, I had found something disconcerting, to say the least, on one of her shelves. It was a scrapbook tying L to the incident. The scrapbook was filled with photos of the person at the center of the incident, and I fear she has been tailing him for years. I also fear from that, as well as a statement she made earlier that night, that she may have been the cause of the incident.

Yesterday, C, M, and I were exploring the site of the incident for clues. While exploring, I met someone who had been secretly living at the place. Specifically, that someone, who I’ll call J (82M,) was the previous head of the project I was working on, who I’ve known for decades he’s lovely, who got fired. I talked to him about my issues, and two things happened. 1. He informed me that L had previously… shown violent inclinations, especially in regards to the target of the incident.

2. he told me to decide what’s important to me. So I did.

The nature of the incident was of enough severity that L could be imprisoned, or even worse, were her potential involvement to become apparent. So, I went down to the location of a major clue towards the cause of the incident and, being a young man in the prime of my life, destroyed it. C and M walked in on me and were horrified, pissed, to be more accurate. I told them to back off, that the incident had already been dealt with (another group who deal with this sort of thing had found the supposed cause, although honestly they were awful at it, and the past two projects my friends and I have surpassed them in) and I told them to just let me finish my other, show stopping project (I didn’t mention that the clues led to L for obvious reasons). M especially was pissed, and all in all I think the entire group has shattered into a million miserable pieces.

So, AITA?

I have so many thoughts on him it's insane 😭

With og Juanín, basic things about him are that he values his friends (to the point of enabling the worst of them) and is willing to endure the worst things for them. He is very responsible but also a doormat. He is a very hard worker and, overall, a mistreated character. He feels like quite the opposite of Tulio. While Juanín has a humble demeanor, Tulio has an outwardly proud demeanor. Tulio is at the forefront of fame while Juanín helps him from the sidelines. Juanín is passive while Tulio is abrasive. Their parallels have always interested me. That's why with the switch au, it started with the idea "what if Juanín took Tulio's spot".

Juanín is now more "fake-nice." He will be nice to someone he can't stand if it'll help the show. Although this has limits, as he hates feeling taken advantage of. He'll shittalk people he doesn't like behind their back. Him and Amapola will shittalk others together. They are best friends even if they are dysfunctional and enable each other and get sick of each other from time to time. While Juanín isn't as overworked as his og self, he has to fix Tulio' messes often. Even on live television. As mentioned before, Tulio is in Juanín's place. He does everything, but isn't the best with his work. This annoys Juanín often, but despite this, Tulio is his right-hand man. He entrusts Tulio with a lot even though he shouldn't. He will admit Tulio is an idiot, but I imagine just like the og Juanín he has a distorted positive view of Tulio. Except ofc not as bad as og Juanín's 💀That still doesn't stop him from getting sick of Tulio, or insulting him. Tulio thinks this makes him more important and feeds his ego. He likes bossing people around. He does get tired from all the work though. He is a suck up to Juanín, even if he also gets annoyed with him. He is jealous of Juanín's fame and wishes he could be the news host. (His inexperience and anxiety would hold him back, though) Juanín knows of the jealousy but won't give Tulio his place. He thinks he's worked too hard for it, unlike Tulio. He's satisfied that he's finally recognized by people for his work. That he's appreciated and can do what he wants. He thinks he's doing the best he can in life. Even if he is missing Juan Carlos, his childhood friend. They drifted apart after Juanín started to become famous. They had many disagreements during that time. Bodoque used to work with Juanín and Tulio during the earlier days of the show but eventually left because of that. Juanín and Tulio tried to remedy things, but Bodoque had gotten tired of the work environment. He knew it was making him worse mentally and feeding his addictions. Juanín feels bad for this but feels resentment towards JC because he thinks he abandoned him. Juan Carlos used to be the estrella periodista, but after leaving, he was replaced by Amapola. Juanín will occasionally hear from Amapola how Bodoque is doing. I think he grew closer friends to Amapola after this.

Juanín secretly still likes scrapbooking :] He is creatively talented and has fun creating. He likes looking his best. He does his own makeup (even if his hair covers most of his face) and chooses his outfits. He likes hanging out with Amapola too. Also he has autism/ocd because I get to project on him.

Random fun fact, "birdhouse in your soul" and "kiss me, son of god" by tmbg remind me of him. Also "big shot" and "everybody loves you now" and "my life" by Billy Joel. And to a lesser extent "I love you for psychological reasons" by tmbg.

Aa I'm not sure what else to type but I think about him a lot tysm for asking about him 😭🙏 hopefully this is good information

The scrapbook went mostly abandoned for the next few years as Morgan didn’t have it, nor did she want it and she didn’t document anything Marigold did.

But after she was brought into Maya’s care, she started updates again from 6-11 when she was transferred over to Godot

He missed a lot but seeing it makes him at least get to somewhat appreciate it

Godot would be very somber while looking through the scrapbook. He's happy to see snapshots of his child growing up, but it's also depressing because he wasn't there to experience any of it. Plus, once again, he's seeing only shadows of Mia. It haunts him even years later because he expects to wake up next to Mia...only he doesn't.

Then he looks over at Marigold and remarks that she's grown up so much. In many ways, she's like her mother. Of course, it goes without saying that Godot and Marigold continue the scrapbook together. There's pictures of Marigold in her fancy dress when she turns 15, pictures of her dancing with her father, and then a picture of her passed out in her bed after a night full of dancing haha. And sometimes she helps Godot in his cafe, so there's a few pictures of her in an apron learning how to brew the perfect cup of coffee.

I figured that they would keep this scrapbook up until Marigold turned 18 where they have a few final pictures of her dressed in her best and ready to take on the world. There might be a few things after that, such as vacations and important events, but it mainly focuses on the first 18 years of her life (minus the 3-6 age gap). When she becomes an adult, she takes care of the scrapbook mainly by herself.

Going back to her childhood, Mia might have also saved a lock of Marigold's hair when she got her first haircut, and she put this lock of hair in a plastic baggie and stapled it to the scrapbook page next to a picture of Marigold in her new haircut. And if Marigold made art in daycare, Mia would also put the drawing in the scrapbook. Marigold drew a crude drawing of herself holding hands with Mama Mia and Uncle Nick and labels them as such. Years later when Godot sees all this, it irks him a little bit because it reminds him that Mr. Trite took his place as Marigold's father figure for a time.

And maybe when Marigold grows up and gets better at drawing, she'll go back and draw herself with her mother Mia, father Godot, Uncle Nick, and Auntie Maya around her with the words "Thank you" written in larger letters above them.

All About Tarot Journaling

I’m so excited to be here today to share with you a little about tarot journaling. Tarot is a huge part of my personal practice – it’s what got me interested in witchcraft in the first place, and I regularly use the cards to connect with my higher self as well as for my spellwork.

One of the most important aspects of being a tarot reader is having a tarot journal, so kick back and let me tell you what tarot journaling is all about!

“What is a tarot journal, and why do I need one?”

A tarot journal can be many things, but the basic purpose is to have a place to record your readings. This is super important because it allows you to revisit your readings to see how right (or wrong!) you were, and if there are any other elements of the reading you didn’t notice at the time.

I usually record my readings in this way: date, question I asked (if any), cards drawn, the traditional meaning, and then a paragraph where I muse on the card and include my own personal interpretations of the card. I think it helps to add the traditional meaning for comparison’s sake, but you can add any info you think would be useful!

My Tarot Journaling Journey

I thought I’d share a little about the journals I’ve had to maybe help you decide what you want yours to look like! My first tarot journal was just a Moleskine notebook. I was just starting out as a tarot reader, so I began the book by writing out the meanings of every single card in the first few pages. Then I wrote down a few basic spreads, and then I started recording my readings. I kept it in my purse and took it with me everywhere, so it made sense to have the meanings and spreads all in one place.

This format worked at first, but soon I wanted to write down more spreads and notes from books I was reading about tarot at the time and it soon became a big mess! I hadn’t left space at the beginning for any kind of table of contents, so my readings were jumbled in with spreads and notes and other things all at the same time. Eventually it was so disorganized, I had to move on to another format.

My second, and current, tarot journal is binder-style so I can move pages around and have as many sections as I want! I have a section for card meanings, which I’ve expanded to include my own personal associations for each card. I then have a section for my own readings, a section for client readings, a section for spreads, and a section for any miscellaneous notes I might want to make.

I still have the first journal and now use that as a sort of on-the-go resource. I use it more to consult the spreads and meanings if needed than to record my actual readings

Ideas for Your Tarot Journal

If you want to start a tarot journal but aren’t sure where to start, here are some things to think about!

First of all, figure out what kind of book you want to have it in. Something small enough to take with you everywhere, or something big so you have a lot of space to write? A bound book or a binder or a scrapbook?

Once you have that, here are some ways to fill it up!

Write down the meanings of each card. Include all of your own personal associations.

Make a collage for each card.

Keep a collection of spreads you make and ones you find.

Record all of your readings.

Write creatively about each tarot card. This could be a poem or a few paragraphs, maybe about the card as a person, maybe about what the card evokes in you.

Draw your own version of each card.

Make a list of the cards that you relate to most. Add the date, so you can come back later and see if it still holds true.

Jot down notes about readings you do for others, so if they ask you for a follow-up reading down the line, you’ll remember what you talked about previously.

Take notes on books you read about tarot.

Have a “tips” section with tips for remembering the card meanings or making readings easier.

Tarot journaling is a really fulfilling, enriching part of the tarot reader’s journey. Your journal can become a powerful and helpful tool to guide you when you need it most. But most importantly, it should be something you like to work in. Don’t feel pressured to make it big and fancy or to write a whole novel about each reading. Do whatever works best for you!

I enjoy having my blog and my page, personally. But I have been here for 10+ years. Honestly, I’ve never had trouble with people being mean to me or running into “problematic people.” Honestly, any time there’s a confrontation, I’m usually the one being the asshole/ unnecessarily aggressive.

Honestly, especially if you intend to lurk/not post original content often, Tumblr is pretty chill. For me at least. I got, like, exactly one piece of legitimate anon-hate thrown at me exactly one time. I’ve talked with people on Tumblr who have the exact opposite political opinions to me and not had explosive dragging drama fights about it.

Granted. Most of the stuff I do on Tumblr is gush about Legend of Zelda, DotNW, a few other fandoms, and then repost a bajillion memes. But I’m pretty openly political with what I reblog, and fairly opinionated. Though most of my opinions are about a game that most of the USA fandom HATED. So my bubble here is pretty niche. But, like. Most of the people in my immediate circle are excellent people and all the people in their circles have so far been delightful. I can honestly only think about exactly one time that someone random searched up a post of mine to get irrationally angry at. And yes I drafted several pages of clap back and then just... the fire of anger fizzled and I never posted it because their irrational hatred just wasn’t worth my time.

I can’t promise you a drama-free experience on here. But I’ve got this blog and a side blog where I mostly talk about my writing or my experiences with video games. And neither of my blogs are lightning rods for anyone’s ire. Hell, when I started this blog, my about section on my page was basically giving people ammo to harass me with. Unless your blog becomes massively popular, I think you’re going to be fine. And if assholes do come knocking for whatever reason? We have the handy little block feature.

That said, you don’t really have to provide any IRL info when you make a blog here. My real name isn’t associated with either of my accounts. You could theoretically just whip up an account with the handle “ThatOneAnnonDude” or something generic, set up your blog title to be “I’m just here to talk games and read memes, and I’m all out of memes.” and just... post absolutely nothing or absolutely anything. And I think you’d generally be okay. I dunno if I’m just lucky, but my experience with Drama™ on Tumblr has mostly been as a spectator. At arm’s length. More like looking over to the mountains on the horizon with binoculars and seeing some smoke rising and thinking to myself “Glad that’s not me, wow.” and continuing with my day.

Personally, I like being able to curate my blog. Gather up a bunch of things that I like and categorize them with tags so I have my own little scrapbook of goodies I can look at (I literally have a tag that’s just “#for the sad times” so if I feel sad I can just pull up that tag on my blog and find all sorts of cute puppy and kitten videos or recipes, or nature photos, or whatever I saw that made me smile once so that I can feel better again. It’s nice.) It’s nifty to be able to tag a bunch of things so that if I want art inspo or a nice reference photo or a knitting project I want to emulate, or whatever, I can just search it up on my own blog and find a bunch of stuff I liked before. It’s nice to be able to search through my Richter tag and see pictures of him that other people drew or re-read some of my own opinions (all the while nodding along like “Yas, I agree so much!” while fully knowing that’s my own damn post. XD) It’s fun to follow a bunch of cool people and get introduced to stuff through osmosis. (I have, like, one person I followed on here for their exquisite taste in ramen art and I am learning so much about the “The Last of Us” HBO show. I have another friend who I followed for DotNW stuff and it turns out they’re just mostly into birds, and it turns out I enjoy learning about birds.)

Honestly it does suck that Tumblr is removing a feature that makes it easier to communicate with me. But Tumblr has been an enjoyable experience to me. I’m just a young whippersnapper practicing for the granny years, sitting on my metaphorical porch with a glass of metaphorical wine, sipping and scrolling through memes, knitting a hat for one of my buds, deciding on a new recipe to make for dinner, listening to goth icons talk about Tumblr culture or a politics video or a Archie Sonic Comics deep dive, procrastinating on my novel. I’m just vibing. I’m having a good time. And occasionally new people with DotNW icons will start following me like I’m a mother duck and I’m like “yes, good, even if we ship different ships, you have impeccable tastes. Welcome to the DotNW table, here are 900 memes, the rare fanfic, and occasionally some opinions. Also here are a billion other memes about irrelevant things, enjoy your stay.”

I’m like an old man at the swap meet. I’m sitting here with a table full of bootleg Yugioh cards (memes), Random DVDs (gifsets of things I like), old classic literature (the really good memes that get passed around a lot) and Slim Jims (opinions, curated art, and idea prompts about specific characters and games.)

It’s fine if you’re shy or prefer not to have a Tumblr for any other reason and I understand if we might have to communicate only through submissions from now on. But honestly, Tumblr is a pretty chill place to be as long as you don’t go picking fights on purpose and block anyone that makes you even remotely unhappy. It takes a little getting used to, since Tumblr as a site has its own sort of culture. But hey! Tumblr also has resident meme historians.

If you want to give Tumblr a try, I think it’s worth a shot. My only gripe is that I get major FOMO, so I compulsively scroll Tumblr every day and then overwhelm myself by drafting an infinite number of posts that look neat but I want to read and tag properly before posting and WHOOPS now I have 300,000 drafts to comb through instead of just deleting them all because “what if there was something good in there that I’ll miss?”

But if you have even an ounce of self control and don’t have to compulsively read or reblog everything, then congrats! Tumblr’s probably worth a shot.

It’s also worth noting that I’m a massive mother hen, so I will keep you nice and cozy and tucked under my wing and if anyone gives you a bad time I will peck the shit out of them for you.
