This guy is becoming such a cool dog
He turns 11 months on the 20th!
He does everything with complete enthusiasm, his tail never stops wagging no matter what (during tracking you can hear it smacking back and forth across my boots hahahhaah)
A big crocodile mouth and a strong grip, but really really enjoys playing with the helper. Extreme food drive, prey drive, always down for ANY activity as long as he is having fun.. which he always is.
I’ve been told by my club that he is the happiest dog they’ve ever met

The free entertainment I get living beside a field is watching the people approach the field with their leashed dog dragging them, ignoring cues, completely not paying attention, going to take their dogs off leash and being suddenly confused when the dog takes off and they’re left chasing it around
Like wtf did you think was going to happen?

#did i take 7 dogs and a 5yr old human to the beach by myself?#yes#did i let them all off leash?#also yes#did anything bad happen?#NO BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL SO GOOD AND HAVE GREAT RECALLS except for boof#who has a terrible recall#but is TOO OLD AND SENILE TO RUN AWAY ANYWAY#very proud of my hoard of critters and kid#an off leash rottie came launching over to us growling and barking#i thought he was gonna eat the 5yr old#i almost had to send miller in to bat for us#or else it would have been an 8 dog pile up#but when he got closer all 7 of my dogs turned and looked at him#postures stiffening and some of them growling softly#and the big idiot realised how BAD of an idea that was#and turn tailed it#not because his owners were calling him#because he had no recall at all#but because he was intimidated once he realised they weren't going to scatter#BUT they all stayed in sit stays beside me where i asked them to#which was very very impressive#and im very grateful for their training#trickle included#who has caught on so quickly#henry#moby#trickle#budgie#dogs

Photos I took of my pets as a child in the 90s
#it’s so hard to look at these photos#I’m hoping maybe putting them here will help me face the pain and trauma associated with them#I think it’s especially painful because they were all such sweethearts#actual angels who were so gentle and patient with baby me#if i could go back in time and save all of them I fucking would 😭#max the malamute 🖤#best boy in the world he was such a good dog#my cousins family gave me him as a puppy#the torties were named Romeo and Juliet (even tho they were both boys 🤣)#(yeah boy torties are from the same litter! idk what happened! 🤣)#Garfield was the orange cat (and mama to the torties)#best girl in the world so sweet. she was almost completely deaf and blind#German shepherd was buddy#sweet playful boy 🖤#I didn’t get to know him very well because he (all my pets did) lived with my dad and at that point I stopped going to his house a lot#bear was the rottie#sweet boy he died really tragically my dad loved animals but was fucking stupid sometimes#and the black puppy… also died really tragically. never even lived long enough to get a name.#some of these might be pushing into 00-4 maybe#the ones of buddy are probably from then because I’m pretty sure we got him while I was in middle school#I drafted this post a few months ago and honestly doing this + writing about them really did help me process my feelings towards them#so now I’m ready to share :)#I just love the idea of seeing the world through a child’s eyes#this is what little me thought was important! lol

#ive lost like all fear of dogs at this point. i realized that earlier today when a massive rottie started a fight with my boy#and my first instinct on seeing flying teeth was to sprint towards them and shove my body in between#its very possible it was also just all self preservation leaving my body because i am absolutely going to protect my pup#i would probably fight a bear for him there is no question that i would forcibly shove another dog off with my forearm#but fuck. despite the fact that i /know/ better sometimes i have a real real bad fatigue week and i use dog parks. i have like.#a selective list of ones that i will go to categorized by 'least likely to become a boxing ring'. tons of space. multiple separate areas.#i go only at off times when its not busy! i watch dog body language and keep an eye on him at all times.#ill rotate areas if i spot a potential problem. i have him under verbal control and wouldnt even be there if i didnt. but! like!#despite all that. just fucking anyone can go there. 'oh your dogs a puppy thats why my dog attacked him!' idgaf.#speaking as someone who has raised a reactive dog. if your dog is reactive why in the absolute hell would you take them to a dog park.#why!!! lif your dog is consistently fighting other dogs why would you do that! it does not matter if he 'only attacks dogs that arent fixed'#he is still obviously not having a good fucking time and is not going to enjoy this environment holy shit#just. gggHHGGH. i avoid off leash parks as much as i can already but. fuck. idek the point of this im just.#still a bit riled over having to physically throw myself in the middle of a dog fight while the other owner did absolutely nothing.#like just hovered! while his dog was pinning mine and teeth flying attacking and was actively fighting me trying to keep him off#when i can afford it im gonna find some sort of dog group walk/hike thing instead i do not want to socialize my boy like this#i am tired and very very upset because my boy looked so scared and i swear to god if you arent grabbing your dog i will fight it myself#fuck dude. fuck dog parks and fuck me for knowing better and still using em anyways.
