You just woke up, got up, "luffy, wake up," you said, shrugged, luffy shoulder. As he got up, you changed his clothes.

As you and luffy went to makino restaurant, "Good morning, (Y/N)!" Said makino. "Hey, makino, how have you been?"

You put luffy on the table with color and piece of paper and brought him cookies.

"Oh! Shanks brought you some gift, but you may not like it, " she said as she put her hands back on her head.

"Let me guess, is it a teddy with big roses flower and has beer that said 'be my lover'?" You question. She nodded her head, and you signed.

"Does this man never quit loving me? He doesn't know I'm allergic to flowers!" You said as you cleaned up the dishes.

"Well, you didn't tell him that you were allergic to flowers," makino said, smiling. "(Y/N)! I'm finished my cookie. Can I have the treasures tab!" Luffy yelled.

"I handled this (Y/N), you have a rough day," said makino, as she put her hands on your shoulder. You signed, working on the dishes.

As you cleaned, you heard a voice screaming your name. "Oh! Darling!!!" It was shanks, "do you really think call her name like that?" Luffy question to Luffy.

"Of course, because your mother is beautiful," said Shanks, "WHAT!?" Luffy yelled. "No, I'm not your darling thing," you said.

"Why not?" Shanks winded

"Cause you just a pervert," said luffy

Shanks looks at luffy with a shocked face. After the bar. You take luffy back to your place, you say goodbye to makino.

I saw somebody shipping Dadan and Whitebeard (I think they called it Dadshipping but I Cannot find the post rn forgive me) and like obviously it's a crackship but I am. Compelled listen hear me out

The real lynchpin in all of it is Ace, and Dadan and Whitebeard's wildly different experiences with/approaches to parenthood.

Whitebeard obviously intended to build a family for himself right from the start, he was willing to adopt the kids who needed him and thus he did exactly that. He has found purpose and joy in fatherhood.

Dadan very much did not intend to become a mother, least of all to fucking Gold Roger's son. She struggled to take care of Ace in the beginning, and by the time she might have started to hit her stride Ace had closed off, and neither of them were able to connect with the other in any real way until the fire. But Dadan loves the shit out of Ace and his brothers.

I think there's a lot of really interesting avenues to explore there regarding Dadan's experience in raising Ace, particularly through the lens of the trauma of motherhood, and I think Whitebeard could be a really big influence in the two of them finally working through the lingering issues they have and admitting that they do see each other as mother and son. I also think that Whitebeard would respect a woman who ran into a fire and swung an axe at a pirate to protect her boys, even though Dadan is very not cut out for the kind of battles the Whitebeards regularly get into. That's fine. Dadan doesn't want to be that kind of crazy fighter, and she doesn't pretend to be.

I can picture Dadan resolutely refusing to admit she finds Whitebeard funny and charming and Whitebeard absolutely taking it as a challenge. He makes a joke and she cracks a tiny little "Pfft--" and he fucking WHIPS his head around to stare at her but she's white-knuckling her own knees to keep her poker face in place she absolutely will not give him the satisfaction of seeing her laugh.

Also I think it would be hilarious if Shanks is dating Makino and Whitebeard is dating Dadan and Shanks is leaving Dawn while Whitebeard is arriving and they look at each other like that scene from The Umbrella Academy.

Also also all the Whitebeard Pirates react to Whitebeard putting the moves on Dadan like hey good for you pops you still got it but Ace sees this happen and scREECHES

I already have a HELLA fixation on the paranormal, and so when I can apply it self indulgently to OTHER fixations, I Am Thriving.

Truly this is my magnus opus.

On that note however, I'm gonna drop some Lore Ideas.

I've said before that Buggy's already aware that Roger is still hanging around. He's not there 24/7, but he does hang out pretty often. Ghosts are Drawn to the things they left Unfinished in this aspect, either by choice or necessity - they hang around on this plane instead of crossing over. Roger made his choices and hated it. He chose the lesser evil, in his mind, because NONE of the options were good.

Then, on that scaffold, about to die, he feels and sees his oldest kids and is frankly more than a little livid.

For one, they're unaccompanied. This is an execution, Loguetown is crawling with Marines - high ranking ones at that - and here stand two barely-teens.

Speaking of them, though, the second thing is how his boys' energies and haki feel. Now Roger has been in a cell for a hot minute - not horribly long, and it's been two agonizing years since he saw his boys, but he knows damn well one should not feel like a ship splintering against the waves while the other has the same warning flags as a landmine in some underbrush. It could be stress, and Roger hates himself for knowing he is a primary contributor to a situation which makes his kids hurt, but there's more to it.

Especially given lucky number three - they're thin. Like. Painfully thin. Buggy had always been rather scrawny, and Shanks had only just begun filling out before Roger disbanded the crew. Right now, his boys looked partially starved, and he was almost certain that if he could get to them, he'd be able to close his fingers around their wrists or ankles with far too much overlap.

Where the fuck was his crew and why the fuck were his sons alone???

The stage was set, though, and he had his role to play. So he just winds his haki tighter, presses as much love-care-guiot-pride-love-love-love into his energy as he can before wrapping it around his kids as subtly as he can.

Then he's spoken, there's cheering, there's movement and pain and-

Nothing.

Roger comes to a few months later.

It takes time to collect himself and his pieces enough to be aware.

Step one - find his kids!!

Shanks and Buggy are not little twin-flame-beacons - Roger assumes they must be back with the crew. He'll have words for them later. For now, Rouge should be due any day! Off to her he goes~

And to carnage he arrives.

It's all he can do to help cause a ruckus where he can when prying eyes get so close to his wife. She is pushing hard with her Haki and he's raging and crying and grieving all at once. Every day that the crusade continues is the day he hopes Garp arrives, that he does something, that he can do anything, that he won't lose her.

He stays longer than expected. A year and a half, and Baterilla is a ghost town. Rouge is barely alive, but their child's energy is bright and bold and u apologetic. Some nights, while she sleeps, he lays his head against her tummy and whispers to Ace or Anne about the world - about the good things, because those are the things the baby should know, those are the things this baby deserves.

Ace is born just as Garp arrives. Rouge dies and Roger grieves.

She comes back far quicker than he did and proceeds to smack him with her shoe, curse him up one side and down another, then wrap him into her arms and cry.

They follow Garp, follow Ace, and they watch over their baby. Dadan is not one who they would choose as a foster mother at a glance, but they warm up to get quickly. Rouge spends her time with Roger watching over their baby boy before she shoos her husband off to check on their other kids. She's never had the chance to meet her stepsons but she loves them all the same.

It takes him longer than expected to find them.

For one, they separated - and how in all the Seas did that happen- and for another, they're making crews. Mostly. Shanks has a crew budding, and Buggy now has a new look in his eyes and a fixation on wearing gloves, but whatever.

So he just. Bounces between the three, occasionally hunting down former crew members to make his displeasure Very Clear.

Only Buggy has ever seen him.

Sometimes Shanks will respond, will seem to Feel something off, but Buggy has always been the one to see the things nobody else could.

So Roger pokes at his littlest apprentice as much as he feasibly can.

It's only by pure happenstance that his kid grows up - and puts on weight, Roger and Rouge both are so proud - and manages to bag a goth Real Housewife Of The Grandline Drama Addict who accidentally-on-purpose adopted a girl with a penchant for divination and spirit boards.

Buggy isn't in the habit of mentioning the things all around people after the first few times landed with broken bones and bogo free trauma.

Now that Roger has ATTENTION however, and a way of talking to more people, AND a chance to gush about his kids to a listening party, well-

He is thriving. Rouge is giggling at him. Buggy is trying desperately to ignore his dead dad and equally dead step mother debating which embarrassing story to tell Pero-chan next.

He's just hoping and praying that they don't tell her about the Secret Spy Incident. He's not sure his blood pressure could take it.

Little sunshine au

How it starts

It’s a bit of a rant so it’s a lot.

Okay I’ll start with Makino

She knows about ace and Sabo. Garp would often stop by for food and alcohol before heading up the mountain to visit Ace. When ace was just about to turn 6 he asked for he help in finding a present for him. Makino inquired a bit more and learned that Garp left a child with mountain bandits. Worried about the boy she decided to tag along to help bring the supplies.

Ace of course was wary of the unfamiliar woman yelling at her to go away but Makino was patient ( lord knows she is if she raised luffy in the original canon) and a few more visits she managed to gain the boys trust.

After that Makino frequently visits , Dadan is more than happy with it as it brings food and booze but the brat seems to like her too. She also meets Sabo , Ace had forgotten something and managed to fallow ace to where they met up.

Eventually they start coming to the party bar , Makino had told them that if they want food they were more than welcome at her bar. They even bring her fresh meat already skinned and cut as thanks and sometimes some money and jewelry they stole. She can’t stop them from going to grey terminal but she can give them a place to come when they’re hurt or hungry.

Of course this also how the old marine finds out about Sabo earlier and claims the blond as his grandson on the spot.Something Sabo is both terrified ( because of what ace has told him)and happy ( because someone actually wants him)with.

It doesn’t take long after that to start referring to the boys as brothers / they do decide to make it official with sake later but that’s with Luffy/they live, play , train and steal together . Though they call each other friends they definitely feel it’s more than that.

Any way fast forward—

So when Ace and Sabo are ten , Garp calls asking for him to meet him at makino’s bar in few days. Dadan is with them because garp never calls ahead when visits nor does he ask them to meet anywhere outside the moutain.( she’s not the best foster mother in the world but she knows somethings up).

While waiting the boys are nervous, did someone find out about ace? Or was it Sabo’s father? They don’t know because Garp isn’t answering when they call, so they can only wait and grow more nervous.

So everyone is surprised when Garp arrives with an infant. Who introduced as his biological grandson luffy, Ace and Sabo’s new little brother.

Makino instantly takes the baby, no offense to Dadan ( the two women have become good friends over the years) but bandits aren’t ment for raising children. Dandan immediately refused to take the kid after Garp said he was his grandson, she’s already dealt with enough sleepless nights and dirty diapers so no thank you!

Ace notices the way Makino looks at the baby , love and care , thinking that the person who was kind to him won’t care about him anymore storms off. To many emotions to deal with so he needs so punch / kill something.

Sabo fallowing after him- mainly to make sure Ace doesn’t do anything extra stupid when he’s pissed but he’s also torn about the baby. When his brother / yes I know he’s adopted in canon but this isn’t canon it’s an au so he’s biological brother/ sterry was born everyone focused more on him especially when Sabo started going against being a noble. Back then it was fine since if his parents were more focused on Sterry he was able to get away . But know with people he actually cares about it’s different.

Makino wants to go after them but dadan tells her to let them go , but she does go to check on them.

( it’s while they’re gone that Garp asks Makino to stay and explains a bit more about Luffys mother)

The next few days / weeks the boys avoids Makino and the baby. Even when the woman makes the trip up the mountain , bringing luffy with her, they storms off. This of course upsets Makino and dadan has had enough of the boys making the young women upset.

It’s probably the few times( if not the first time) Dadan actually gets serious with Ace even going as far as to ground both boys Sabo tries to argue but the woman isn’t having it. Makino has enough to handle with luffy , she doesn’t need to deal with the two brats throwing a tantrum. So in a rare display of parental authority she tells them to go foosha apologize and that they’re not allowed to hunt go off to the woods , or grey terminal for 2 weeks. And does she get a rowdy angry strong brats to listen ? Easy she says she’ll Garp as a threat- ace knows she’s not bluffing last time she did that he was 7 causing all kinds of trouble until the Marine put him through training hell. The man takes any excuse to put them through marine training—. The other bandits keep a close eye on them so they can’t sneak off either.

So with guilty conscience they decided to head to foosha village for the majority of their punishment.

Makino is happy to see them, even if they only came because they were grounded.( she’s proud of Dadan , who called to inform her she might be seeing the brats in a day or two).

They apologize, sabo having the idea to bring flowers they picked along then way, ( this is also before ace starts learning manners so his his apology isn’t exactly proper but Makino understands him enough to know he’s genuinely sorry). She accepts the apology and makes them breakfast.

However before she can start someone comes in saying there’s a situation at the dock’s about her usual supply delivery.

Makino expected this , Garp had arranged something for her as compensation for taking luffy, so she would get better supplies, however that meant some one new would be there and the people on the docks were wary of new comers. If she didn’t sort it out soon a fight was going to start.

However she can’t leave luffy alone , she just put him down in the basket on the bar( the baby hated being alone and cried when ever she tried to leave him in another room.)

The only other people in the bar were ace and Sabo.

Noticing her dilemma Sabo offers that they can watch luffy for her. Ace is obviously not okay with that asking why he would offer that, Sabo says that they use it to help apologize.

Ace gets that but they don’t know anything about caring for a baby.

Sabo responds that he read a few books on taking care of babies, and rereading them after luffy arrived out of curiosity. So he can watch luffy even if ace is useless. Which ace takes offense to and the boys start arguing

While they’re arguing Makino thinks it over . She knows leaving two ten year olds in charge of an infant wasn’t the most responsible but she didn’t have much other options. She’s already had several complaints about Luffys crying( she felt awful knowing he was in distress) and she can’t bring him to the docks ; that would risk someone outside the village finding out about his heritage. The boy would try to get in the water — he’d given her a few heart attacks when he did it the first few times; the situation could get out of hand and she didn’t want him getting hurt.( or anyone else in his mother’s protective wrath)

So She accepts the offer She explains that it shouldn’t be long , 30 minutes at most.

All they have to do is watch him , she just changed his diaper and if he wakes up and starts to cry she’s has a bottle prepped and instructions in the kitchen if he’s hungry.

So she leaves leaving them and luffy,

For several minutes it’s quite , and the boys think it’ll be fine and that Makino was worried for nothing.

But them luffy wakes up a few minutes later and starts crying they start panicking. Ace covering his ears yelling at Sabo to do something, the blonde tries to rock the baby back to sleep but that does work. Then he remembers the bottle and the instructions Makino left. So he tells ace to watch him while he makes a bottle or two , leaving ace to watch him.

Ace is of course not happy about being left with the crying baby but Sabo is already gone so he’s stuck babysitting.

Eventually he can’t take the noise anymore so Ace goes over to the basket and glares at the baby telling it to shut up. The baby stops for a moment opening his eyes to look at the new person talking to him.

Ace is surprised by how bright and warm the infants eyes are. Looking at him He fully expects the baby to start crying again.( after all he’s monster)

But instead the baby smiling, a bright and happy one ,giggling. The boys laughter is a wonderous warm sound that makes ace heart swell.

Ace is taken aback by that. Why was the baby so happy to see him? He’d never seen anyone, other than Sabo, to genuinely happy to see him . (Even Makino was kind but she was a bit hesitant to approach him when Ace yelled at her go away; he’s glad she didn’t).

He realized he never actually got a good look at the baby before. He looked so small and fragile , vulnerable. Ace could easily crush him, he’d crushed many animals and adults. Yet the baby , luffy , wasn’t afraid of him. Instead he was eagerly reaching for him.

Ace reached out his hand to touch him , tiny soft hands wrapping around his finger in surprisingly strong grip.

Sabo came rushing back with the bottle surprised to see his best friend staring at the baby with fascination. ( a warm look he’d never thought he’d see on his friends face)

He doesn’t even pull away when luffy starts putting his finger in his mouth. Though he takes that as sighn that he’s definitely hungry.

Seeing Ace’s new interest in the baby Sabo tells ace to pick him up so he can feed him. Ace panics because he doesn’t know how to and why does he have to?

He likes you so you get to feed him!

Knowing he can’t win an argument with Sabo he carfully picks luffy up , realizing that he’s even smaller and breakable in his hands.

Sabo instructs ace on how to hold and feed luffy - the blonde while ace is internally nervous because while his strength allows him to securely hold luffy he could also easily crush him. Sabo actually finds it a little funny watching ace , who brave and confident, panic internally as he holds the baby like it’s a bomb.

But seeing luffy comfortable in his arms Ace relaxes and takes the bottle from Sabo.

Luffy ends up going through 3 bottles ( the note said more than one : Luffys still a D and a Monkey ) before he’s full.

Once he’s done with the bottle he starts whining. Ace panics thinking he did something wrong, Sabo takes him from ace , after taking his cravat off and using it as a rag putting it over his shoulder- mimicking what he’s seen Makino and nanny’s do after a feeding a baby, pats him on the back . The baby burps , surprisingly load and earns a chuckle from boys , Sabo moves to hand him back over to ace.

Except the baby doesn’t want to leave the blonde hold gripping tightly to his shirt. Readjusting to get a better hold on the baby , luffy pats Sabo’s face with tiny hands giggling. Just like with Ace ; Sabo is surprised by how bright luffy is , all from being in Sabo’s arms.

I guess he likes you too. Ace teased,

By the time Makino gets back the boys are completely smitten by the baby. They don’t even leave at night because luffy started to cry when they started to head back.

They spend the next few day’s learning how to take care of luffy , diapers duty is not fun but they still do it, they don’t even go back to the moutain for a few days.

However they’ve noticed something odd , Makino takes luffy out before bedtime and comes back with a sound alseep luffy and her skirt wet. She tells them that walking on the beach helps put the baby to sleep.

Still something is right about that explaination so the boys fallow her one evening.

Makino goes to a more isolated part of the shore, far away from any villagers. She takes her shoes off and walks into the water until it’s at her calves.

To their shock she puts luffy , the vunrable tiny infant, in waves.

They rush over yelling , but it’s to late a wave had pulled luffy under.

Some how Makino is able to calm them down and points just a bit farther in.

Luffy is fine, floating safely , giggling as the waves gently rock him back and forth.

When they ask, Makino tells them Luffys mother would never hurt him.

Before they can ask what she’s talking about A wave of water comes over , unnatural I’m its movements , holding luffy out to Makino son’s asleep and yet completely dry. Makino takes him the water retreating back, but not before gently caressing boys check. The young women doesn’t give the boys any room to ask anything else’s before ushering them back to the bar, it’s already late and it’s bed time.

Once they’re back and luffy is tucked in for the night she answers what she can of they’re questions.

She explains to them that Luffys mother is ocean, that’s why she brings him here so she can rock luffy to sleep. She also explains how it could be dangerous if anyone found about it.

The boys promise to keep it a secret. After all luffy was they’re little brother after all.

Your first semester was going well with all projects done and midterms completed you were all set for your Winter Break. 

When You asked him what his plans were for the Holidays Sanji had tensed up. 

“Probably hang out in my apartment,” he told you.

“What?” you asked incredulously, “You're not going to go home?” 

“I really don’t have anywhere to go.” That absolutely broke your heart. You two had only been dating for less than a month but he had confided to you that he wasn't close to his family. But you didn't think that meant not going home for the holidays. No matter how much you and your family fought you were always welcome (and expected) to go home. 

You rubbed his arm, “I know we just started seeing each other but what do you think about coming home with me?” when you notice him tense, you immediately try to back track. “No pressure or anything I just I hate to see you all alone on a holiday and-” 

Pulling you close he shut you up with a kiss. 

A week later and you buy two bus tickets to your home town.You were excited, but at the same time worried about scaring off someone you really cared about.

 “Sorry I couldn’t get us plane tickets” you told him as you both found your tiny seats and hunkered down for an eight hour journey. 

You grew up poor, and had never felt shame about it before, but while being at your new school you had other students who came from very wealthy families all over the world. Early on in the semester you had gone on a date with this one guy from your Economics class. The whole dinner he kept going on and on about how important his dad was and how he had donated a lot of money to the school. And that the “Morgan Library” was named after his father. It was all very annoying. 

You had a very different upbringing. You came from a family that was rich in love rather than material wealth. 

It seemed as though Sanji didn’t mind though. In fact he pulled out a bento box with a smile and handed it to you, “I made this for you to snack on.” 

You smiled at his genuine excitement. You began telling him all about your quirky little family. How you had adoptive brothers, two older and one younger one. That your Foster mother worked a lot growing up the four of you were left to your own devices. And for all the faults that your childhood had, it never stunted the love you had for your found family. 

After a grueling trip you finally made it to your hometown and got a cab to your home. Looking out the window, scenery began to look familiar. Finally you pulled up to an old looking home. It wasn't much but in the back you could see the remnants of the old forts you and your brothers built years ago. As much as she claimed she was only watching you all for the government check, Dadan didn't have the heart to tear any of them down. That sentimental old hag…

Once you got out of the car Sanji insisted on helping you with your bags. You smiled at him while he looked cautiously nervous. You hoped all this wasn't too much for him.

A loud engine interrupted your thoughts. You watched a shirtless man with an orange hat riding his motorcycle into the gravel driveway.

“Hey! Y/N !” 

You smiled and waved at your big brother. 

 Ace's smile was infectious. Grinning, you put down your duffel bag and ran into his arms.

 “It’s good to see ya” He said as he swung you around.  “We’ve all missed ya.”

When he put you down he noticed Sanji holding your things.

“Ace this is Sanji, Sanji this is my brother.” 

Ace’s smile never wavered as he held out his hand. “Good to meet you.”

Sanji shook your brother's hand while you picked up your duffel again  “C’mon.” you said to them, “let's get inside before this dummy catches a cold.”

“I keep telling you I run hot!”

When you enter you hear voices that you haven't heard in months.

“Luffy, just wait a few more months. Then by all means you can live out your Jack Kerouac Fantasy.”

“Why can't I just go now?”

“Because I’ll kill you” you interject making the youngest boy spin around.

“Y/N!!!” He ran to your arms. “Whose the guy?” 

“This guy is Sanji.” You tell him,“Be polite.” 

“Sabo.” Your older brother extended his hand out.  “And this cry baby, is Luffy”

Everyone chuckled as Luffy began to defend himself

“Soo… Y/N,” Luffy proceeded , “Whatcha gonna make us to eat i'm starving”

“Can you make some of those rolls?” Ace continued, “you know the buttery ones?”

“OOO and the turkey! When can you start on that?” Luffy added.

“Umm..”

“Thanks, Y/N you're the best!” Sabo pats you on the back before moving back to the TV room with the other boys.

“Typical” you mummer before moving to the cupboard to get pots and pans out. You were about to start cooking when Sanji took everything out of your hands. “What are you doing?”

Sanji only smiled, “Why don't you sit, have some wine.” He set the cooking equipment onto the old stove burners, “I got this.” 

And he really did.  He made dinner for you and your brothers. They all began to eat like animals who were starving once their food was plated and served. Sanji excused himself from the table and exited through the door that led to the backyard porch. It was there you found him smoking a cigarette 

“Thank You.” you said gratefully. 

“You're welcome.” He said before taking another puff.

“I love you.” You say which causes him to have a coughing fit. 

“I’m sorry if it's too early for you to hear,” you say quickly, as he catches his breath. “ but it needed to be said. He continued to stare at you.

You felt your stomach flip, “I understand if you-”

That was when he kissed you.  “I love you too.”

One Piece Chapter 1089 - Initial Thoughts

We've had awesome side quests and painstaking breaks, but now we return to Egghead for the Egghead Island Arc. Though at this rate we may just need to rename this the 'Incidents Arc' considering it's one incident after the other.

Sentomaru is rounding up Mark IIIs against the remaining CP forces in the main island, while most of the navy are outside with Kizaru and Jay Garcia Saturn. All goods? Let's gooooooo!

Oda, sir, we need to talk about your breaks, we just came back from 5 weeks of breaks spread between 2 chapters and now another break? Thought the eye surgery was supposed to alleviate this

It was a really good chapter still, but it's more one that makes me concerned for the rest of the world; we've got two gaping holes in the ocean that have fucked up the natural world, islands have sank, earthquakes and tsunamis are happening all across the world. I wonder if Aqua Laguna was caused by the hole that made Enies Lobby if this is what happened to it. I think what makes me most sad about it is that it cannot be undone, at least not in a way that won't further fuck something else up, the only caveat is that the quakes probably will affect the Red Line's structural integrity.

This does still feel like the calm before the storm, but it also seems that the game of Among Us has resolved off-screen, so I hope next chapter(s) we track back to that first before continuing with this Siege on Egghead. An important note is that Kizaru's been listening in on the conversation, so he has more context to go by.

Also, forgot to mention on posting, this is the first time the Straw Hats have interaction with the Gorosei, they know their voices now, they know their intentions, that's a big deal.

But yeah, another break kinda sucks given that we just came back from one, plus it means more waiting -_- the only plus side is that this final saga will last longer - though who really believed Oda when he said 5 years back in like 2021-22?

1090 is next though, and Oda likes round numbers so expectations are high.

This time I'm going to do several together, since I don't see anyone who isn't a fighter with a full team of six, so for characters that appear less and don't actively fight I'll put them together in one post.

Dadan

The adoptive mother of ASL brothers, I love her very much.

Zoroark

I have chosen this pokemon because it is a dark type, which is usually related to darker themes, and bandits are not supposed to be good (although they are).

Then there are the pokedex entries, where it indicates that it has always protected its pack by tricking its enemies and within the pack they are all very united, plus anyone who has seen the Zoroark movie knows well how protective this pokemon is with its children.

Leavanny

I have chosen this pokemon because of its pokedex entries, where it says: "If it encounters a young Pokemon, it secretes sticky threads from its mouth with which it knits a piece of clothing." So it naturally takes care of others. Dadan doesn't want to admit it, but she is the same.

Phantump

Yes, I have given him the spirit of a child who has possessed a stump, you can kill me, I deserve it.

Also in it's pokedex it indicates that ot only lives in forests rarely frequented by people and where Dadan lives there is no one miles around. I don't give it evolution because it requires trade and the objects necessary for it that in this universe only the WG has.

Outlook *I have tried look for a gif, I have find none.

(I swear to God Sabo is 1. Adopted. 2. Not Outlook's child or 3. A MIRACLE, because he does NOT look like his parents.)

It was difficult for me to think of a single Pokémon that would want to be with this human being (and with his adopted son) but then I thought that as a noble he could use Pokeballs, so he could have some. Then I had to think which pokemon this man would want to have and here we are:

This pokemon is described as elegant and that is why many people love it. I don't see Outlook wanting it for any other reason.

Bombirdier

This pokemon is just a raised middle finger from me, because he's a horrible parent and the concept of this pokemon comes from what storks do with their eggs or babies sometimes.

I continue to suffer, although at least a little more is known about this. Just a little.

Persian de Alola

Two reasons, it is an obvious gift from his adoptive father and it is described as vain, haughty and cruel. That's it.

Polteageist (Antique form)

This pokemon gives me that air of nobility or that elite detail due to the fact that it is a porcelain teapot that only someone wealthy would have in the past.

The specific form would be because only 7% of these exist in the wild, so it is more precious.

Furfrou

It is based on a dog that is usually in beauty contests and maintaining its hair has to be very difficult, especially doing all the cuts and dyes. In fact, poodles were only of high birth in the Middle Ages.

I HAVE DADANBEARD PROPOGANDA

The real lynchpin in all of it is Ace, and Dadan and Whitebeard's wildly different experiences with/approaches to parenthood.

Whitebeard obviously intended to build a family for himself right from the start, he was willing to adopt the kids who needed him and thus he did exactly that. He has found purpose and joy in fatherhood.

in contrast, Dadan very much did not intend to become a mother, least of all to fucking Gold Roger's son. She struggled to take care of Ace in the beginning, and by the time she might have started to hit her stride Ace had closed off, and neither of them were able to connect with the other in any real way until the fire. But Dadan loves the shit out of Ace and his brothers.

I think there's a lot of really interesting avenues to explore there regarding Dadan's experience in raising Ace, particularly through the lens of the trauma of motherhood, and I think Whitebeard could be a really big influence in the two of them finally working through the lingering issues they have and admitting that they do see each other as mother and son. I also think that Whitebeard would respect a woman who ran into a fire and swung an axe at a pirate to protect her boys, even though Dadan is very not cut out for the kind of battles the Whitebeards regularly get into. That's fine. Dadan doesn't want to be that kind of crazy fighter, and she doesn't pretend to be.

I can picture Dadan resolutely refusing to admit she finds Whitebeard funny and charming and Whitebeard absolutely taking it as a challenge. He makes a joke and she cracks a tiny little "Pfft--" and he fucking WHIPS his head around to stare at her but she's white-knuckling her own knees to keep her poker face in place she absolutely will not give him the satisfaction of seeing her laugh. Whitebeard could encourage Dadan to bond with her son and support her strength and tenacity and give her an outlet to occasionally explore and find joy in her feminity and I think he would just be a wonderful partner for her genuinely. It's a little harder to see the inverse only because Whitebeard leads such a fulfilled life by his own standards that it's hard to imagine he feels his lack of romantic partner is an issue really but I guess therein is where the beauty stems from, because he isn't looking for a mother for his children or even really a life partner, Dadan wouldn't want to fulfil those roles and he wouldn't want her to, instead his attraction to Dadan would be built off the simple selfishness of enjoying her company and thinking she's pretty and wanting to spend more time with her, purely for the sake of it. I think it would be a very cozy kind of love for Whitebeard, which is something he doesn't get as the father, the leader, the rock people lean on. With Dadan he gets to be just Edward Newgate.

Also all the Whitebeard Pirates react to Whitebeard putting the moves on Dadan like hey good for you pops you still got it but Ace sees this happen and scREECHES

Some additional head-canons:

Even though they have an apartment they live and pay rent in, none of them are ever home, much. Luffy’s sleeping over his friends’ houses after hanging out with them, Ace is pretending he’s homeless, and Sabo sleeps at the hospital most of the time. sometimes two of them will be home at the same time, but its almost never all at once on any given day.

Even though they are never home, one day of the week is sacred. The day that no matter what they come home and spend the day together. Thursday. Laundry day

Luffy odd odd jobs done in the past include: possum wrangling, “get my friend out of that tree please, he’s drunk and i don’t want to call the cops”, PC setup (he didnt know anything about it, but somehow he got it all right. Somehow.), performing at a party, assisting in a lab, impromptu chore-boy, and many more.

Nami takes care of Luffy’s Odd job finances and makes sure he gets paid the proper amount. He lets her take a cut, and even though she does indeed want that money, she unfortunately knows Luffy needs that money more than she, so she doesn’t take it. The amount of self restraint she exhibits astounds even she. She is truly a saint (according to her).

The only laws that Luffy knows are 1) his friend (self proclaimed) Law and 2) the Miranda rights, as he heard them while Sabo was getting arrested that one time.

Luffy thought the Law lecture he went to was supposed to be talking about his friend (self proclaimed) Law. He wanted to support his buddy (self proclaimed), not learn about federal law!

No one has kept track of how many times Sabo has went to jail. whenever he’s asked, he changes the number every time.

Sabo had the absolute worst time getting that big ol’ tattoo across his arm. He cried a couple times through it, although he would never admit it. It was an investment that he was willing to make, however, and he thinks it turned out sick as hell. So does everyone else. Because the tattoo is sick as hell.

Ace watch shenanigans:

“hey ace, what time is it” “One sec,” he checks his watch “uhhhh 10 at night” (Its clearly the middle of the day) “Thanks, man”

Dadan calls to check in on them every Thursday night. She pretends she doesn't care about them, but the reality is not looking good for her.

Sabo has been a childhood friend to Luffy and Ace and has slept over the house they lived in with Dadan many times, but he didnt actually come to officially live with them until he was finally kicked out of his parent’s house when he was 16. Dadan has always been more of a mother to him than his biological one ever was and he treasures her even though he says he doesn’t. Actions often speak louder than words, as the two are literal besties despite both verbally expressing their disdain for the other more than praise. Sabo is clearly her favorite of the three brothers and she's the most lenient with him (which is something they all exploit).

Luffy and Ace come to live with Dadan in the au the same way they live there in canon, their fathers are not present in their lives and Garp dropped them both off at her doorstep and expected to take them in.

The Straw Hats' Tragic Backstories

Ranked from what i personally consider to be less tragic to most tragic. With pictures!

I accounted not only how scaring their backstories are but also how long they suffered for, balancing the bad and the good times. Be ready

N°9 (Less Tragic): Usopp

Less Tragic is still Tragic. He lost his mom, never knew his father and never felt he fitted in at his hometown where he gain the reputation of problem child. That said, he still had a pretty 'normal' childhood and was a happy and emotionally stable kid, somehow.

N°8: Zoro

Now with Zoro there's the issue there's a lot we (or at least I) dont know. The times he spend at the dojo gave him somewhat of a home but before that he appeared to be a homless orphan maybe? Also then there is Kuina's death which defined so much about him through pain. Beyond that, he grew up in a safe space with people that cared about him.

N°7: Luffy

He never had a parental figure to look up to and he was raised in a way by many people. He's sense of familly lied with Sabo and Ace bc nobody else stayed around long enough (except for Dadan). Similar to Zoro, the 'death' of Sabo defined a lot about him through pain. He ranks above Zoro because he lived to survive and his and his brothers lives were often put in mortal danger.

N°6: Brook

The fact that he had a whole happy life didnt allowed me to rank him very high but at the same time, wandering arround for decades alone, traped in the darknes, souraded only by the dead bodies of his nakama. I couldn't put him last either. Not to mention the lost of his body.

N°5: Franky

Now it's getting real. Franky did have a happy childhood with his found family doing what he loved that is building ships. But, the boats he created were used against him to bring down and arrest his father figure/mentor. In desperation he traid to fight a train to stop it and lost his body in the process. He never saw Tom again.

N°4: Sanji

There are two sides to this. One, so far all we (or at leats I) know of Sanji is from when he was already an apprentice at a kitchen, what's the story before that? Idk but i bet is not happy. Then ofc is the issue that he almost starved to death at the ripe age of 8 and had to carry on with the guilt of costing this pirate-chef his leg and career, who eventually became his mentor/father figure. No wonder he is so closed off emotionally. Thanksfully, after that he seemed to have gronw up without other insidents and he loved it in the Baratie

N°3: Chopper

Rejected by everyone since he was born and it only got worse after the ate the devil fruit. He was attacked by his own and also by humans. The only one that showed him love and kindness was Hiluluk, his father figure/mentor, who he ended up killing while trying to find a medicing to save him. All things considered he had some happy times in the middle.

N°2: Nami

She was a happy kid until Arlong came along, murdered her mom infront of her eyes and took her away. Not only she was forced to work and live with Arlong, but she also had the lives of everyone on her village on her shoulders, and she made it so at the age of 8! She lived the next decade terrorized by Arlong, alone, thinking everyone hated her and carrying that weight on her own. Her final snap when she stabs herself on her tattoo cannot be more heartbraking

N°1 (Most Tragic): Robin

There's just, so much to unpack. She lived alone, her mother left her and her adoptive family rejected her. The only solance she found was studying but then the Marine came along. They killed everyone she loved in front of her eyes, they burned her entire island and made her the sole survivor. After that they persecuted her all her life, she was betrayed and sell out more times than she can count probably. She was forced to live in the run, never trusting anyone and never belonging anywhere, which was all she ever wanted.

The Voyage So Far: Enies Lobby

this is still one of my very favorite nami panels. i think she’s really great through all of water 7 and enies lobby in general, actually, even though she isn’t really one of the characters in focus for a lot of it- like zoro and sanji, she stays pretty steadfast and very badass even though everything that happens, and never gives up on robin for a moment despite being one of the ‘weaker’ members of the crew. and it’s always fun to see her playing with lightning.

one of my favorite jokes from the first half or so of enies lobby is the strawhats both being completely unsurprised that luffy charges in ahead of them as soon as they arrive AND being able to find him immediately by following the explosions. they know him so well. 

luffy’s never been scared of dying, going all the way back to when he told coby he was fine with dying for his dream back in chapter two or three. that conversation is what his exchange with blueno here reminds me of- blueno asks him how long he intends to keep fighting, and luffy says until he dies, like there’s nothing to it.

it’s always been a trait of his to face death unflinching with a grin, so long as it’s for the sake of something he cares about, be it his crew or his brother or his dream, and i just really like that about him.  

i’ll go into it in the dressrosa post too, but i think it’s really impressive just how long oda held off on giving luffy any sort of significant power-up. he gets his first big power boost in the whole series here, forty volumes in. i’ve always liked that oda is very conservative with power boosts like this, because it both keeps the series’ powerscaling in check and makes the times it does happen much weightier. this is a monumental moment, and it feels like it.

also, i love the way gear two is drawn pre-timeskip, especially with the steam. it looks very cool and atmospheric.

i really like how united the strawhat crew feels throughout enies lobby, after all the internal turmoil and discord of water seven. even though the matter of usopp leaving the crew is still unresolved, they’ll all together once more, on the same page, and fully united in the goal of saving robin, whatever consequences it might bring. 

the tree of knowledge has such a cool design- it looks massive, and even more than that, it looks old. you look at that tree and you know its been there for easily thousands of years. its seen entire eras of history, and it would be priceless even without the countless books stored inside it.

and then it burns.

i’m so endlessly sad about the tragedy that is robin’s relationship with her mother. they never even got to see each other until their world was ending, and even then only for a couple minutes.

olvia is a very interesting character, because she’s someone who chose her dream over the people she loved. that’s not an inherently good or bad choice, but it is a choice she made, and it’s what led to the ending she and robin had to have. i’ve wondered a lot what might have happened if she chose the other way, if she never left or if she came back sooner or if she chose to flee the buster call with robin, and how different (and almost certainly better) robin’s life would have been if she had.

in a way, olvia reminds me a lot of kouzuki toki. they both die in order to fling a light of knowledge and hope into the future, and they both send their children away and choose to stay behind to choke on ash for the sake of a better tomorrow. 

i didn’t really notice until putting these panels together, but a lot of things burn in enies lobby. ohara burns, and the pluton plans and the world government flag, and enies lobby itself, and at the end, the going merry burns, too. if you extend it back to water seven, there’s the galley-la headquarters, too. in an arc that deals so much with the preservation and destruction of history and knowledge, it’s a fitting motif. 

the world government flag burning is still to this day one of the most striking panels out of a series full of them, in my opinion. in one act, the strawhats proclaim their absolute defiance against the world government, and their willingness to make enemies of the greatest power in the world for the sake of their friend.

it’s also another one of those moments that’s interesting to think about in the context of luffy’s past. it was a ship flying that same flag that shot sabo down, and while luffy wasn’t there to see it, i don’t think he’s oblivious to that fact, especially given how he says just before this he understands robin’s enemies perfectly.

dadan told him and ace that there was nothing they could do against the whole world, and luffy went and did it anyways.

sometimes i just think about how scary it must have been for robin, someone who’s been weighed down by the shackles of her past with no escape in sight for so very long, to open herself up and let herself hope, for life and freedom and a dream that’s always been out of reach. 

franky has a lot of really great moments between this arc and water seven- his conversation with usopp as usopp is working on merry and his talk with robin on the sea train are two others. it’s almost impressive how quickly he becomes an immensely likable character once we start getting to know him, given how he’s first introduced as an absolute piece of shit.

his burning of the pluton plans is a favorite of mine, and i think it might be because, like so many people before and after him, he’s choosing here to stake all his hopes on the strawhats, on luffy’s ability to pull off the impossible and on robin’s goodness. when robin’s only ever been chased and hated and called a demon by the world, franky chooses to trust her and luffy with the legacy his dad died for, and neither of them let him down.

monster point looks SO FUCKING TERRIFYING in enies lobby, and i LOVE it. look at that. franky is seven and half feet tall, and in front of monster point he’s tiny. monster point is huge, and dead-eyed, and a force of absolute destruction. i do kind of wish we got to see chopper go completely feral like this more often. he deserves to be terrifying!

i love how much FAITH all the rest of the strawhats continue to have in usopp throughout enies lobby. he left the crew and they really would have a right to be angry at him if they chose to, but it doesn’t even seem to cross any of their minds. they’re just happy he’s okay, and they include him again without missing a beat, because he’s still their friend and they know down to their bones they can trust him, even after everything. 

i’ve always really loved zoro and kaku’s little moment of post-battle banter here- zoro relays paulie’s message about cp9 being fired, kaku says he’s out of a job, zoro tells him to try the zoo, and kaku cracks up.

it feels very real to me for whatever reason, and i think part of it ties back into how well one piece handles morality with its characters- zoro and kaku are genuinely pretty similar people who get along decently, it just happens that they wound up on opposite sides. there are series where you’d never see moments like this due to the lines between good and bad being so firmly drawn, and i love how one piece blurs those lines so much they may as well not exist a lot of the time.

this is the other sequence, along with luffy climbing the drum rockies barehanded, that always makes me physically cringe to look at. it looks so painful. robin is so nearly powerless here, but not quite- she can still buy time for her crew to catch up, even if it’s only seconds, even if she risks shattering her teeth or even her jaw in the process. she’s spent so long giving up and has only just started daring to hope- she’s not about to go gentle.

there aren’t many panels that give me catharsis like this one. there really aren’t.

oda’s villains are usually complicated and awful and often a little admirable, if only for how clever or how terrifyingly powerful they are, but every now and then he comes up with someone who’s just pathetic and cowardly and pointlessly cruel. spandam is like this, obviously, and so is orochi, and the celestial dragons, and i’d argue flampe from whole cake island as well. and there’s nothing like seeing characters like them- weak, cruel people so assured in their own power and rightness- get obliterated.

one of the things i really like about enies lobby is that nobody really gets sidelined- everybody gets multiple chances to shine. luffy, usopp, and obviously robin are the most in focus, obviously, but zoro, sanji, nami, chopper, and even franky all get a bunch of individual awesome moments. oda’s ability to handle his cast satisfyingly is consistently really impressive (if sometimes strained in huge ensemble arcs like dressrosa or wano) and it really shows here, i think.

i just really love the entire climax of enies lobby. much like the arc as a whole, it just feels triumphant, even though the situation is extremely dire. luffy unlocking gear three, robin’s cuffs getting unlocked, usopp shooting spandam and the marines all the way from the tower of justice- it’s all just good, a long chain of much-needed victories and catharses, and it feels very good to read.

i’ll always be impressed by just how much characterization oda manages to give merry, a boat. she’s only really a character in water seven and the end of enies lobby, only about two chapters of which she actually speaks in. and yet i don’t think you’d find a single one piece fan who disagrees that merry’s death is easily one of the most heartwrenching in the entire series.

i love the reactions of the strawhats to robin’s thanks. they’ve just gone through hell to save her, most of them are beat to shit and they all risked their lives, and yet they all just smile, or brush it off, because to them there’s nothing else they could have done. it’s all worth it, so long as they got her back, so long as she’s safe and happy.

merry’s funeral just hits me in the chest every single time i read it. it’s tragic, of course, but there’s also something almost lovely about it, something peaceful about her getting to go out on her own terms, carrying her crew to safety one last time, defying every rule of the universe to do it. just like a strawhat pirate.

oda’s ability to communicate emotion through expressions really comes through here, too. merry has the only lines in this scene, fitting for her death in the limelight, but the shots of every other crewmate’s face let us know at a glance just what they’re all feeling and just how strongly they’re feeling it.

you know, i’d forgotten we only learn the name of the new world after enies lobby. we only get proper exposition about the revolutionary army and the yonkou here, too, despite them being set up since loguetown and jaya (or alabasta, or even chapter one if you count from shanks’s introduction) respectively. oda’s ability to parse out exposition and explanation so we always have just the right amount of information is really impressive- we always have more questions, but we also always have the feeling that those questions have answers, and that sooner or later they’ll be revealed.

points at shanks. i just think he’s neat.

it’s my opinion that one of the great joys of one piece is seeing luffy and the crew rise up in the world, and seeing them gain more and more notoriety. i love nothing they do ever happens in a vacuum- everything has impacts, and there are always outside eyes watching, and often those impacts are things that they never could have predicted.

ace and blackbeard is still, i think, definitely one of the coolest looking fights in the whole series. it’s not all that often we get to see two people with extremely flashy and showy abilities go all-out against each other, and the resulting fireworks are still really something to behold, despite how badly it all ends.

omg i am absolutely in love with shanks, can i ask for a scenario/headcanon (whichever is more comfortable for you), shanks x caring mother figure luffy? she's always worried that bb boy is talking to pirates and when luffy eats gomu gomu no mi the woman is literally terrified because her son can drown now and the shanks calms her down? sorry if this is too much and detailed, feel free to ignore!!

Aw! This is so cute, and I promise I’ve had way more detail than this before. Lots of detail is good, it helps me create something I know you’ll enjoy. This did kind of turn into something a little more elaborate though

- Dear ol’ Dad was pretty irate when his good for nothing criminal of a son came knocking one night; And even more so when he saw a pregnant woman clutching Dragons hand

-Dragon then had the gal to ask Garp to watch over this random woman and his unborn child. Dragon practically begged Garp to find somewhere safe to hide them from the military. Feeling just guilty the old man agreed. Garp could think of no better place than with an old friend; Dadan.

- Luffy was born in Foosha Village and raised with Dadan’s group of ruffians. His poor mother didn’t really trust anyone but them with her son, so when Luffy started exploring on his own (Name) had heart palpitations.

-Then Luffy came running home one day chattering about a group of pirates and stating that he’d one day be a pirate

-(Name) didn’t want to stifle her son but pirates are a really dangerous crowd and pirates means that the military is following close behind.

-She did meet the pirates in question soon after and they were a bit rowdy but kind men. And their captain was quite the looker as well.

-Then Luffy nearly stabbed his own eye out, (Name) and Shanks were both in hysterics, cause holy fuck this kid is reckless.

-Hey (Name), it’s alright. See Luffy is getting patched up by our doctors as we speak okay?

-How can this be okay? My boy has lost his eye!

-(Name), it’s gonna be alright. It was even that close to his eye. Besides he’s a tough kid.

-After that (Name) bans Luffy from seeing the pirates, but that doesn’t reall happen obviously. (Name) is ticked at first but then again what can be worse than stabbing yourself in the eye right?

-She was being too hopeful. Because one day Shanks escorts the kid home with a guilty look on his face.

-Upon further inspection her son was made of rubber.

-You and Luffy are going to be the death of me! I can’t believe I’m still letting him run around with you miscreants. 

-Don’t worry (Name). It’ll be just fine, I mean, Luffy’s got a flock of hard asses looking after him. So nothing bad could ever actually happen to him.

-(Name) of course doesn’t believe a word of it and wants to kick him out but some how Shanks ends up eating dinner with her family and staying for drinks

-Maybe he’s not so bad after all. She’d just have to wait and see.

Accidentally Calling Motherly Friend “Mom” HCs - (Luffy, Law, Kid)

Luffy

Dadan and Makino were perhaps the closest people that Luffy could consider as mother figures, but now he's very close friends with one woman who's motherly inside and out. He sees the way she treats her grandchildren, and he feels as though she treats him in a very similar way.

On top of that, Luffy's crew is always teasing him about how his friend is almost like his mom, the way she frets over him and constantly feeds him along with her grandchildren and the way she hugs and comforts him as if he was actually her son.

With all of his crew's teasing and his friend's motherly personality, it's no wonder that one day Luffy slips up and calls her "mom." He doesn't even realize he's said it until Usopp or Nami points it out to him.

Now, Luffy rarely, if ever, gets embarrassed, so to see his cheeks begin to grow a rosy tint before he pulls his straw hat down to hide his face is truly a strange sight to witness.

Things are a little awkward afterwards with Luffy staying relatively quiet, only speaking when spoken to but with a mopey tone in his voice. He wants to run back to the Thousand Sunny, but he reckons Zoro or Franky will stop him, maybe even Robin, too.

Luffy eventually finds a chance to leave when his friend's grandkids ask him to go outside to play, to which he happily accepts and flees the scene. How could he say something so weird?

Once the children are done playing, they go inside to wash up and grab some snacks while Luffy chooses to stay outside. He's so caught up in his thoughts that he hardly hears his friend walking up to him until she takes a seat next to him and puts a hand on his shoulder, startling him quite a bit.

She laughs and asks him why he's outside by himself, and when he tells her its about the embarrassing mishap, she laughs and brings him into a tight hug. Seeing her lighthearted reaction, he'll laugh, too, saying that he doesn't even know why he called her "mom" in the first place since he's never called anyone that before.

As she reassures him that she doesn't mind being called "mom," Luffy's wearing a huge grin on his face and joking about how he's finally found himself a mom.

It's not obvious since Luffy is almost always grinning and laughing, but after this encounter, he's just gleaming with joy. Blood-related or not, anyone who treats him like family would get nothing but the best from him.

Law

From time to time, Law will mourn the loss of his family even after all the years that have passed, especially when it's their birthdays or the anniversary of their death. The death of his family weighs heavily in the back of his mind, but he never once thought he'd become so close to another motherly figure.

Law was surprised at all of the advantages of having a motherly friend to dote on him. He likes to think that he's got his life figured out and that he's capable of handling himself, but he learns so much from this friend that he'll often call her up in search of advice.

His crew absolutely adores his friend and her grandchildren, so they've all pretty much integrated themselves into her family. They even go so far as to call her "mom," too. Unfortunately, the crew's habit of calling her "mom" must've grown on Law subconsciously.

Out of the blue during one of their visits to the small island, Law mistakenly call his friend "Mom" and doesn't even pick up on it. The room suddenly grows quiet as his friend and his crew stare at him in bewilderment.

He's confused at first, and when they reveal to him his slip-up, he looks on with astonishment at his embarrassing mistake. Just what was he thinking!?

His face goes red, of course, because his crew is laughing and teasing him about joining them as his friend's "adopted children." And all he can really do is slump back in his seat and pull his hat down over his face.

Luckily, he's not the center of attention for long since the conversation quickly changes to a new subject, but he replays the memory in his head over and over again, wanting to throw himself into the ocean. With everyone else preoccupied, he makes a quick escape to the other room where he grovels at his mistake.

When his motherly friend enters the room to check on him, he apologizes for making things awkward. He's more than surprised at her lighthearted response saying that she doesn't mind being called "Mom."

It's comforting to hear her say that, and her kindness and acceptance is something he cherishes. He sees his own mom in his friend, and it's almost as if he's been reunited with his deceased mother, just through a whole different person.

Despite the horrible first experience of calling his friend "Mom," Law feels relieved at having someone he can consider family, almost like he's filled a hole in his heart that he never knew he had. And with his friend's fondness toward the nickname, Law decides he'll call her "Mom" but only when the two are alone.

Kid

Kid has never really prioritized making friends or building strong relationships with his family, but he does make one exception for a very special lady.

Sure, she tends to scold him for his reckless behavior and his unprecedented cruelty which gets on his nerves, but he can never bring himself to dislike her in any way. He's much too attached, and the pros of having her as a friend far outweigh the cons.

Her constant encouragement and support of his dreams are more than welcoming to Kid. And for that reason, he's sworn to protect her island and her family, often mentioning that she's the only person to ever get this kind of treatment from him and that she should feel lucky.

One day during a particular visit, Kid is spending his time catching up with his motherly friend, while Killer and a few others are playing with the grandchildren in the same room. Meanwhile, the kids keep calling for their mom to watch them do somersaults despite their mother being in the middle of a story.

She apologizes to Kid for the disruption and turns her attention to her grandchildren for a moment, praising them for their impressive skills before returning to Kid to continue her story.

As Kid was waiting for the mother to finish, he noticed a new picture frame hanging on the wall. Curious, he decides to ask her about it. And in the midst of the children chanting for their mom and Kid preparing to ask his question, he accidentally says, "Hey, Ma, what's-?" He barely manages to catch himself, and it's absolute torture for him.

His face is nearly as red as his hair, and he doesn't even know how to react. He can hear muffled chuckles from his crewmates with Killer trying to shush them. When that fails Killer shoos the children and small group of pirates outside, leaving Kid to pout alone with his friend.

Kid tries to tell her it was an accident and that she ought to forget about it if she knows what's good for her. They're nothing but empty threats, and his friend knows that. So instead, she gives his arm a comforting squeeze and tells him that she doesn't mind if he refers to her as "Ma" since she finds it fitting.

He tries to argue with her, but she uses her motherly skills to quiet his fussing and convinces him to calm down. He's still embarrassed, of course, yet he's now able to calmly ask her to never bring it up again since his crew is likely to poke fun at him later. And she agrees, much to his relief.

It's comforting to know that such a close friend is willing to consider herself family to him. In fact, he's delighted to hear her say that, but Kid feels that it's better if they remain friends. After all, it'd be hard on his friend and her grandchildren if someone they considered family never returned from the seas again. But hey, he now knows someone he can call "Ma."

When Brooke awakens his Devil Fruit

Brooke never really thought he could awaken his devil fruit. It’s not like he can turn everything around him to string like Doflamingo. But along his journey and when Luffy becomes King of the Pirates, what he discovers is his awakening allows him to call back the souls of the dead. And he takes full advantage of this.

Brooke specifically waits for the right time to use it for his crew

Luffy:

He waits for Luffy, Sabo, and Garp to be back at their hole town with Makino, Dadan and the other Mountain bandits to have them speak to Ace one last time and tell him he was able to achieve his dream of becoming King of the Pirates. Ace tells Garp that he loves him and that he is sorry for all the pain he has caused him. He is overjoyed to see Sabo alive and thanks him for looking out for Luffy when he couldn’t and Sabo thanks him for the same. Dadan and Makino are overjoyed seeing those three reunited again. Maybe call White beards Soul and Gold Rogers for Ace as well. Roger meeting Luffy and being proud to have someone like Luffy be the next king of the pirates. Luffy made sure to have Shanks and Rayleigh there too so theycan see his old Captain. Roger tells Shanks that he did a job and gave his hat to a worthy man. Rayleigh gets to see his bestfriend one more time and Roger thanks him for helping train Luffy. Roger thanks Garp for taking care of Ace for him and Garp just punches him because he is about to cry (Maybe have Kobe there as a Bonus because Luffy values his friendship and wants to introduce him to his brothers)

Zoro:

They travel to Zoro’s hike town with his sensei and call back Kuina’s soul so he can tell her he achieved his dream and became the worlds greatest swordsman. He tells her that he made sure to take extra care of her sword and that he never forgot their promise to each other and trained hard every day. He even pokes fun at her talking about how Tashigi looks and acts just like her and how she has been chasing him all over the world so it was like Kuina was also chasing after him, trying to achieve her dream which made Zoro train even harder.

Nami:

They return to Cocoyasi Village to meet up with Nojiko and Genzo and call back Bellmere soo they can talk to her again and Nami tells her she achieved her dream of drawing a map of the entire world. She tells her mom about all her travels and how she found a family that can always make her smile. She even shows her the Tangerine trees in the Sunny saying she grows them exactly the same way to make sure her nakama get to have a taste of Bellmere’s tangerines.

Usopp:

They call Usopp’s mom’s soul at his home town so he can tell her he became a brave warrior of the see like his father. He tells her all the adventures he has been on. He starts off by saying “Hi mom. You came back to us” like he used to say about his father. His Dad standing beside him saying that Usopp keep his promise and became a brave pirate, even more great than himself. He introduces his mom and dad to Kaya. His mom absolutely loves her and is happy he found someone. They bond when his mom tells Kaya that it will be hard to love Usopp since he is a pirate and neve home and Kaya responds saying she knows it may be hard, but if Usopp is free, and happy that is all she could ask for. Besides, that the kind of man she fell in love with in the first place.

Sanji:

They meet up with Zeff at the Baratie and call back Sanji’s mom’s soul to tell her that he became and amazing chef and found the all blue. Sanji’s mom thanks Zeff for looking after her son and for teaching him how to be a great chef. Everyone at the Baratie wonder how someone as annoying and argumentative as Sanji could ever come from such a sweet woman. Then Sanji kicks them and they all laugh. (Luffy asked Nami to contact Reiju and tell them to come because he knew she would want to see her kids again and they would love it so Sanji is with his siblings, Judge, and Zeph. Sanji wasn’t happy about it but he realized they were her family too and he couldn’t just keep them from speaking to their mom one more time. Even if most of them are jerks) Sanji shows his mom his cooking by cooking a special meal for her. A variation of the first meal he ever made for her. She says it’s the most wonderful food she has ever tasted and can tell that she actually meant it (i know I know. How can she eat if she’s a soul? Just go with it) Reiju tells her mom she loves her and how sorry she is for not taking better care of Sanji. Her mom tells her what a wonderful job she did and that she loves her. The other brothers finally show emotion that they never knew they could. Seeing their mom again after she died woke something up in them and they apologize for being dicks their entire life and that they love her. She responds by saying that they are her sons and she loves them no matter what. She tells her children what fine and strong people they became. Judge even apologizes to her for everything he’s done (What Sanji did during the Whole Cake Arc really made them reevaluate their life)

Chopper:

They return to The Sakura Kingdome to see Doctor Kureha and Dalton, where they call back Dr. Hiriluk’s should back to tell him that his son went out to see and became an doctor and travelled the seas as a pirate just like Hiriluk wanted. They also recreate his powder again and show him the cherry blossoms one last time before his soul returns to beyond the grave. Chopper even teacher Hiriluk the new things he learned while at sea and all the different diseases and things he has cured. Hiriluk is happy his son went out to sea and thankful when Chopper tells him what Luffy did for him and his flag even before he really knew chopper.

Robin:

Even though they cannot return to Robin’s home, they sail the Sunny to where the island used to be located and call back Robin’s mom and the others archaeologists so Robin can see her mother again and tell them about the lost history. She tells her mom about the Poneglyphs and the other ancient cities she found like Skypiea. As a bonus Brooke also calls back Jaguar D. Saul and Robin tells him that she found her nakama who will protect and cherish her and will never leave her. Saul thanks the Strawhats and after hearing what they did for her at Enies Lobby, he knew she found an amazing crew. He even laughed and smiles at the story saying that Robin has joined one crazy crew. Saul took one last long look at the people who would challenge the world if it meant protecting Robin and knew that she would never be lonely and sad again. Her mother gave her a hug and said she’s happy that she survived the buster call and how proud she is for becoming an archaeologist and finding out the lost history.

Franky:

They return to Water 7 and meet with Granny Kokoro and call back Tom’s soul. Cranky gets to tell him that he created a ship that sailed across the entire world just like he did and is now the shipwright to the new King of the Pirates. Iceberg tells him that he is working on or completed making Water 7 float. Tom is proud of the man iceberg became, and how successful and beloved he is as the mayor of Water 7. Tom takes a look at the Sunny and says it’s even greater than anything he could have built including the Oro Jackson, Roger’s ship. He admires the work and detail Frank put into the ship and could tell that the crew loved their ship very much. Tom meets Nico Robin and apologizing for doubting her and believing she would use her knowledge for evil. Robin smiles and says it’s ok and they talk all night. Tom meets the Franky Family, the people willing to storm Enies Lobby to save Franky. He thanks them and The Strawhats for saving his son hd apologizes to Franky and Iceberg for even putting them through that by passing down the Pluton blueprints. They laugh it off and Franky says he is actually thankful to have had them because without it, he would have never joined the Strawhats and build the ship of his dream.

Jinbe:

They return to Fishman island where they reunite with Shirahoshi, and her family. With Jinbe, the recall Fisher Tiger and Queen Otohime’s soul. They get to tell the two that the relationship between fishmen and humans have gotten better. Jinbe can tell Fisher Tiger all he had accomplished including jointing the Strawhats. Shirahoshi and her family can tell Otohime that they returned to they participate in discussions with the world government and other countries and have a good relationship with humans. Shirahoshi tells her mom about how Luffy taught her to be brave. They both leave knowing their species is in good hands and thank the Strawhats for being the gateway to the fishmen co-existing with humans

Brooke:

When they return and see Laboon again, Brooke calls back the spirits of his old crew so they can all keep their promis to Laboon. They play their music for Laboon again so he can hear the real thing instead of the recording (don’t ask me how they can play jules if if their dead just go along with it. It’s sweeter that way). Brooke can introduce his old crew to his new one, telling his old captain not to worry because even with them gone, he has found a new place he can call home.

Vivi: (and the rest of the crew)

If Vivi’s father dies (because it seems like that may happen) They return to Alabasta and Vivi and Karoo get to see the King Nefertari again and maybe her mom too considering I don’t actually know what happened to her. Vivi is happy to meet to new crew members and love how none of them have changed personality wise. Robin apologizes nonstop and Vivi forgives her in a second. She says that anyone Luffy likes is a good person so Robin doesn’t need to apologize anymore. She even thanks her for not telling Crocodile where Pluton is and for all the times she has saved Luffy. While there at Alabasta, he aslo calls back the spirit of the Going Merry. The very same Klabautermann that saved them time after time. They thought about doing this at Usopp’s village but he said that Vivi was once a part of their crew too and deserves the chance to see the Merry again. The spirit of the merry is happy they found a new ship to call home and is thankful to Franky building the ship. It even says that it knew of the ship because part of her spirit is still with them, on the mini merry and thanks Franky for building it out of her wood. This causes every to cry saying how happy they are that the Merry is still with them (yes even Zoro. He tried to not cry but couldn’t help it. He turned around thinking Sanji would make fun of him But Sanji knew that he could never make fun of him for this). Usopp and Luffy immediately says that the mini merry cannot be in the docking stations anymkre and bring her onto the deck. No one disagrees or argues with them.

Law:

As a thanks to Trafalgar Law for all his help and everything they’ve been through, they call back Corazone’s soul and he tells him that he loves him and is greatful for everything he did for him. He introduces him to the Heart pirates, named in honor of Corazone and shows him that he made the right decision in saving his life. Law also insisted that Sengoku be there because he loved Corazone like a son. Sengoku at this point is retired and he’s never admit this, but he is happy that Law and Luffy met because it gave him another moment with the man he viewed as a son. (Sengoku also couldn’t help but notice how much alike Luffy and Garp are. Especially when Garp was Luffy’s age and laughs knowing how much trouble Luffy will give the Navy considering the amount of trouble Garp gave the Navy and he worked for them)

Rebecca:

They return to Dressrosa and let Rebecca,Kyros, Viola and the other see Scarlett again where she sees that her daughter grew up to be an amazing woman and that Kyros has protected ever since.

Momonosuke:

They Return to Wano and Momonosuke, Hiyori, kin and the other Samurai can see Oden again and his wife. Momonosuke can tell his father that he is following in his footsteps in order to become a great Shogun to make sure Wano prospers. Hiyori tells her father that she gave his sword, Enma, to Zoro. She thought he’d be mad so she tried to explain to him that he saved her life, Saved Wano, and is a worthy swordsman but Oden stops her midway saying that he doesn’t care about the sword. He’s just happy his family is safe and that if she gave his sword away, he knows that it would have been for a good cause and to someone worthy. The other Samurai get to tell Oden that they avenged him and saved his country like they promised. They even bring back Yasui so his daughter can see him again. Momonosuke also introduce his father to O-Tama and his father likes her and thinks she’s a good math for his son. Momonosuke blushes but Luffy, Kin, Nami, Robin, Sanji, Zoro and honestly everyone agrees and already consider them as a couple. Brooke even brings back Ryuma so they can clear Zoro’s name of stealing Shisui. Zoro spars with Ryuma and Oden. Their fight changes the geography of Wano a bit.

Carrot:

They go to Zou and call back Pedro’s soul so Carrot and everyone can see him. Carrot thanks him and shows him how strong she became. Luffy thanks him for sacrificing himself for him and Pedro is happy knowing the Dawn of the New World that he believed was coming has finally arrived. He never regretted his sacrifice for a second.

I’m assuming there is a 24 hour limit to each soul called back or something like it. But if not consider that after they each have their own individual heartfelt moment with their loved ones that they lost, the Strawhats bring EVERYONE, and yes I mean everyone that was mentioned, to Laugh Tale for a huge party. All the souls of the departed that where mentioned meet each other and celebrate the Luffy becoming King of the Pirates. Roger, Rayleigh and Whitebeard get to see Oden again. Nami ends up punching Gold Roger for doing something stupid on a reflex thinking it was Luffy. It actually really hurts Roger and as Nami apologizes, Bellmere looks proudly at her. Luffy laughs and Nami beats him up twice as hard. Roger, Whitebeard, Shanks, Oden and Fisher Tiger are now scared of her. They know Luffy has the best Navigator in the world, but are wondering if it’s worth it with him much she has punched Luffy in the short time they’ve know her. All while Brooke and the Rumbar Pirates play Bink’s Sake the entire time.
