WHAT’S YOUR OTP FOR YOUR MUSE? Don’t really have one in terms of Skyrim NPCs! I guess I did consider Teldryn after I first created her, but the fit wasn’t quite right.

WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO RP WHEN IT COMES TO SHIPPING? Honestly? Anything. Angst, fluff, smut, unhealthy dynamics, comfort, hateships; whatever! My faves are ships that promote character development (especially when it’s mutual).

HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE? As long as all characters are 21+, age gaps don’t matter to me at all.

ARE YOU SELECTIVE WHEN SHIPPING? I am, but only when it comes to the actual writing (I don’t ship based on faceclaims or lack thereof, and I don’t care whether a character is an OC or canon), and the quality of the character: I like complex, characters that have been fleshed-out with a strong presence, balanced strengths and flaws, and an established, consistent personality that I can bounce Ariveth off.

HOW FAR DO STEAMY MOMENTS HAVE TO GO BEFORE THEY’RE CONSIDERED NSFW? I think clothes-off is the cut-off, or intimate touching that becomes graphic in description. Depends on the thread!

WHO ARE OTHER MUSES YOU SHIP YOUR MUSE WITH? Basically all the characters she’s currently romantically involved with lol. There are also a few characters I can see future potential with too, for sure.

DOES ONE HAVE TO ASK TO SHIP WITH YOU? Not really, unless you want to plot a pre-existing thing! Chemistry is key, and that requires in-character interaction. If an interaction naturally ends up flirty/romantic in nature, I will almost certainly be keen to ship without having to be asked (though I do like talking about ships anyway, and about the characters, where we want them to go, how we want them to develop etc. tl;dr I’m a talker dkdflks).

HOW OFTEN DO YOU LIKE TO SHIP? Anytime, since I love shipping in all forms: flirtationships, flings, ex-lovers, star-crossed lovers; everything. And luckily, Ariveth’s character lends itself well to all of that. I’m just a lot slower to ship serious, longterm stuff because I like to get into a thread or two to test the dynamic first.

ARE YOU MULTISHIP? Sort of! I plan to have a single ship for Ariveth’s canon storyline, but I’ll consider multishipping in AUs.

FINALLY, HOW DOES ONE SHIP WITH YOU? Ask me for a pre-established non-serious romantic connection, or just interact and lets see if it happens! Ariveth’s flirty nature makes it very easy to ship with her. 

As for endgame ships (and specifically Ari’s ‘canon’ ship): that’s something I’ll only consider doing after extensive writing. If our characters have already established chemistry and a romantic dynamic in more than one thread, and I feel like the other muse would be a good match for Ariveth, I will mention the possibility to you. This isn’t something I care to rush however, given the slight exclusivity it entails, and I want to make sure there's compatibility plus a healthy relationship/mutual investment with the other mun. I wanna be clear: I do not expect more time/effort be devoted to our ship than others at all (in fact I’d encourage equal investment among all your ships) but I’m very wary of committing Ariveth to a character whose mun neglects the ship or gets bored/goes through ships quickly. I prefer to have minimal yet quality ships. I hope you can see it from my perspective and understand my trepidation. I really want to be sure. If you ARE interested in this, interaction is the only route toward it; I will not pre-plot without proper development.

okay back to the prison au the angelgat "not being able to fully invest in a relationship bc of lack of privacy" tension slowburn is good but alternatively actially. the "johnny has a longer sentence and so seeks out a relationship not knowing how deep itll get" tension. the angst. the intent to just have an in-prison thing with this guy thats getting out soon, so it doesnt matter, its a means to an end and fills the void . until ur sentence is reduced. until u find out ur getting out around the same time as the guy uve been not-so-platonically fucking. there are strings attached now. u like him and he likes u and uve been vulnerable and real with him, still thinking he would leave and forget about you eventually. but now ur out together and he wants something real and u have a longterm girlfriend that u love and ur city is in shambles bc u werent there to protect it from gang violence and all ur old friends are dead. ✨What's a fic you've posted you wish you could breathe life into again and have people talking about it? (or simply a fic you wish got more credit)

so, as per usual, i'm not a concise person so i'll give two varieties of answers for this between my finished fics and my to-be-completed ones (bc i will finish all my fics one day---they're incomplete not abandoned)

so finished fics:

so my contenders are between both of these because they were really specific ideas that either i had (in the case of the lawschool fic) or that were sent to me (the f4 fic) and i had a lot of fun writing it. the general speed of the actual writing was very very fast because i was so invested and i knew what i would write too.

of course, my popular fics like the famous aus in vincenzo fandom and the countless f4 fics were very very fun too, but they get their due credit. i think these are some of my (if i can say this even) more "underrated" fics so to speak. people do like them and all, but i think i like it much more than people do, if that makes sense.

i want to have the same energy as a writer bc i find myself lacking it that i had when i was writing this approximately a year before, and the same strength of my brainrot ideas that motivate me to write.

for my unfinished fics:

so the fiery priest fic was the product of a fever dream at night that i spent furiously writing down in a notebook as soon as i woke up, and i think it's one of my best works personally. if you've watched the show, i highly encourage you to read this fic of mine. i think it deals with the emotional genres of second chance romance, enemies to lovers, angst that i think are my strengths. so yes, if the fandom were more popular, i think (hope) it'd get the due credit it deserves.

the vincenzo fic is really a labour of love (as are all my fics, but this one a bit more so). i love intolerable cruelty the movie, and i think men who think of themselves as tough pining for the strong as needles unbreakable woman is beautiful trope and i believed it'd translate well to the show. i just enjoyed writing it so much, and i'm so cognizant of all my unfinished fics that i know exactly what i need to finish, my ideas that i had because my entire ao3 page is a labour of love for me in between a hectic college and work live juggling school and 5 jobs and extracurriculars. so, yeah, i hope my vincenzo mutuals show this fic the love i have for it.

🌈is there a fic that you worked *really fucking hard on* that no one would ever know? maybe a scene/theme you struggled with?

i think the easy answer to this one is:

so, this ended my two-ish month hiatus and i've not published anything since though i've written a lot of fanfic and other creative works as well. long story short, this was a very difficult and heartfelt piece for me that was less a fanfic and more a personal, third-person essay towards my mental state at the time after a very painful breakup with my longterm partner and then a subsequent short-lived fling/situationship that went from 5 to 90 in very little time and also ended badly. i've since been just healing from that sort of, and this particular piece was the rawest i'd felt right after both instances and i was very emotionally spent and used and unstable.

the better, proper answer(s) as a writer would be:

so, the nevertheless fic, as a character study was honestly an ugly exploration into myself because i relate to bitna as a person painfully so. i've been her (pretty recently too) and while our situations are/were different, i think the emotional resonance within us is strong and so while it started off as something fun, it became a challenging exploration of the self disguised as a character study. (i realize this is a similar answer to the previous fic but idc)

for the lawschool fic, i love hanahaki and i love angst. like i'll read and angst and i'll cry and i'll enjoy that sweet sweet pain and emotional catharsis and there's an alternate ending version to this in my drafts somewhere that made me ugly-cry claire danes circa romeo and juliet style and i think grief and unrequited love is so deeply personal to me as a theme i fucking love it.

Oooo! The relative swaps weren't meant to be canon to the au since I was struggling with just three of them swapped, but all these thoughts are very fun.

Princess Zola of Skifander... I definitely like the idea of her showing up in Europa to kill her twin to assert dominance, only to get extremely lost. Her restraining herself a little and thus meeting Bang much earlier works for me!

Zola, watching Bang torture someone: Hm. Would.

I can't see her giving up on Skifander but at the same time, her hooking up with Bang and helping her reclaim her kingdom and show her subjects how unlucky they were to rebel against Bang's mom sounds like domestic bliss for them.

And then of course Zola discovers that she actually gets along with Agatha pretty well. The universe is cruel and unfair and conspiring to stop her from killing her twin. (It works out somehow.)

I can't really think of any other Bang substitutes for Agatha... Vole does have the benefit of being only 150 and born after the whole Storm King dealio. Maybe he can pretend to be some other construct, but then he has to get way sneakier.

I like the idea of Tarvek Heterodyne being a bit more paranoid than canon Agatha is about who might kill him, but of course they still have dramatic Sparky chemistry. And being able to bench press clanks is not exactly a con.

Gil keeping his playboy reputation in this au is so funny to me. He cannot escape it. At least this time it's partially planned. Good luck with the sabotage, Gil.

Zeetha Mondarev. Born to stomp her enemies to death with her hooves, forced to learn to be a ninja. They should probably move her to another group for personality clash, but she's already trained... Maybe being scolded all the time about not being sneaky starts wearing on her.

Gil's forced vacation... I imagine Zeetha dyes her hair so that people don't see the neon red and start connecting identities. Maybe she could be green again? Or pink. Why not pink.

Gil trusting his gut about Agatha being a secret Wulfenbach is funny to me. If it works it works!

I forgot to ponder the age five breakthrough... if Agatha is still the one who does then Klaus is forced to expose her true ancestry before she and Gil become friends. I can't see Gil faking getting caught in order to return to his awful home (might as well try the fake info option and see if his dad falls for it or assumes he's an idiot), but if he does it's very self-sacrificial. Also, it seems like he'd be friends with Violetta too in this au. There's a secret Heterodyne Girl he could totally marry for political reasons... if either was interested.

I turned out to be really invested in Sparkless Heterodyne Violetta Holzfaller. I think Barry would chance breaking into Castle Wulfenbach to save Violetta from Klaus, but if he doesn't dare to investigate Mechanicsburg himself then he might just think she's dead. Violetta and Tarvek feuding over one of their adoptive parents killing the others' adoptive parents would be fun. I wonder if Klaus would do his improvements on Violetta or not... could go either way.

If Violetta is around I can't see Klaus letting Vole anywhere near her, and thus Agatha... so that would work for them only really meeting in Paris.

Zoing going into hiding in Mechanicsburg's sewers sounds interesting. I'd say "I hope his cuteness can help him" but I think Gil might make him more offensively dangerous in this au. He is a lot more threatened after all.

The more things change, the more Tarvek is shoved into dresses. Heheheh. I don't think he'd want to live under a fake identity longterm rather than just become Heterodyne though.

Violetta "trained all her life" Holzfaller vs Tarvek "built a death ray" Clay. Who will prevail?! I hope it's cooler heads, it'd be a shame for them to continue the Saturnus tradition of killing your relatives. I wonder what the Jagers would do if there was a legitimate succession crisis like this... Violetta is the oldest so she would be the natural succcessor, but being Sparky is so important to keeping that town full of minions happy. The Castle is probably willing to settle for any actual Heterodyne after 19 years, but I have no idea what it'd do in a sustained fight. It'd probably find that distressing.

Roleswap: Boy Genius AU

The past generation is all the same, and so is the present generation except for Agatha, Gil, and Tarvek. And Moloch, who is now a woman.

What I’ve decided on about the au is:

The Heterodyne son genes were too strong and the Holy Child was born male. Almost all male Sparks the appropriate age mysteriously disappear while the Geisters are looking for the Holy Child, but Anevka is still the one put in the Summoning Engine because, well, Aaronev had no illusions that either of his kids is the Holy Child and was just rolling the dice to get Lucrezia back. Also, I can’t decide what Gil Sturmvoraus is up to, so is he even at Sturmhalten?

Tarvek Clay lives in Beetleburg with his loving family and a job as Beetle’s assistant. People understand why he’s there less because ornamental male assistants aren’t as popular, but it doesn’t become a big problem.

I think OG Tarvek’s legacy obsession is fun, so here he’s half-convinced that his Uncle Barry really is Barry Heterodyne. He lives with the logical and emotional sides of his brain at war and constructs elaborate fantasies about what his parents are up to. I imagine him less laser-focused on making something Sparky than Agatha was… maybe his experiments exploding is a little more private?

Agatha is the Baron’s Beautiful Daughter and can bench press a car, because Klaus did the same improvements to her as he did to Gil. Not sure if she is as explicitly into the heroing hobby as Gil is in Paris, but she probably runs into a lot of trouble she can’t resist solving. Is she still a heartthrob to the ladies of Paris? Flip a coin. Does she have as much of a foot-in-mouth syndrome as Gil? I say no, since Gil’s seems to be his brain working at half power around a girl he likes and Agatha mostly powers through her own “hot boy” moments.

Agatha’s role is easy to leave static at the start of the story and Gil and Agatha are very similar people to me, but… I just have no idea who Gilgamesh Sturmvoraus would be as a person. Nature vs nurture debates whip at me relentlessly, not just because of his new family but because I don’t have a solid idea of how much of his upbringing makes up his canon self.

My only two really solid ideas for him are 1) Klaus decides that Agatha-Gil friendship could be romantic and is partially motivated to separate them by not wanting to be in-laws with the Sturmvorauses. This changes nothing but it’s funny. 2) Agatha goes “why is the only guy I click with fucking Sturmvoraus” and this is part of her designated Wulfenbach “alone forever” angst. Or maybe she does try dating… if that even goes well.

For other things… How much does Gil care about his family? Does he think becoming Storm King is a good idea? Does he manage to save Anevka? I think the bio equivalent to Anevka is probably cloning her… but again, does he even care if Aaronev is stable? Is running away an option? Is whistleblowing, once he discovers the Summoning Engine? Does he try to play incompetent like canon Tarvek or just go with being as powerful and scary as he can manage being? Does he have any self-made friends? Is he obsessed with the Muses? What’d he do with the Violetta situation? Does he like Zulenna? Does he obsess over Agatha's secrets or try to move on? Are he and Zola friends? Did Bang kidnap him with associated sexual harassment vibes? Are either Agatha or Gil library nerds?

He still dislikes Martellus, so there’s that. I like to think Agatha and Zola become friends… Truly the biggest twist of the au.

Back to the other two… Agatha gets called on having Heterodyne style possessiveness in canon, but here she’s not a Heterodyne. And does she hate Gil as long as/the same way that Gilvek hate each other? And if Tarvek’s morals are wibblier than Agatha’s, him having The Voice could be worse. Also, it’s unlikely Dr. R would grope him, but I’m sure he can get pissed off in some other way. I'm swapping Moloch because even if Tarvek is scantily clad, the Spark mix-up relies on gender assumptions.

Also, Gil is exposed to too many giant spiders for his liking. Maybe he'll get less scared of them. Or not.

new mob au obi-wan is the mob boss and anakin is actually just like. a normal civilian this time. no thoughts of murder, no bloody past, no bloodlust. just some dude, but he ends up seeing something he shouldn't and then taking out one of obi-wan's men when they go to make sure he stays quiet and obi-wan...likes that a bit too much

so instead of killing anakin, he threatens him into working for him occasionally.....after all, he has a wife and kids so he's pretty easy to threaten into compliance, either by threatening the kids directly or threatening to use his influence to charge anakin with the murder of his man

fast forward a bit and there's nothing obi-wan starts to like more than seeing the mayor's husband standing in his office with red hands giving him a report on what his wife and the police are gonna try to do next to clean up crime and corruption in the city.

and then eventually there's a shift down the line where anakin starts to think obi-wan is doing more for this city than anyone else and he's really actually helping people, giving them food and shelter and controlling the violence.......so anakin becomes a turncoat voluntarily, spying on his wife and her political friends and going to obi-wan to tell him things like what the police commissioner talks about after four glasses of win

and then the threats become rewards when they fall into bed together and there was no way obi-wan saw all this coming but he's always known skywalker would be a wise investment

starker fic recs 2022

there are so many different flavours of starker!! like WILDLY diverging ones, probably more so than any other ship i’ve read. it’s so fun and versatile. 

but before I go into those different brands, here’s an intro to my favourite authors! i’ve read every starker fic they’ve written and would trust them with my life. 

“author has already arranged a ride to church trust me” anon (aka RTC anon) One of the most well-known authors in the starker fandom. Words cannot explain how obsessed I am with this person. Gorgeous, cinematic prose, original & captivating plot, steaming UST, rich characterisation with the delicacy it takes to handle this kind of ship—they truly have it all. They got me into this ship and are the sole reason I spent forty hours a week for like three weeks straight just reading starker. 

is this thing (an)on  All-round great writing but what particularly stands out is the dialogue, which is so in character I can hear their banter with perfect clarity. Their fics have the range! Plotty ones, smutty ones, twisty little sad ones—all of them worth a read. 

chelicerata  A late discovery for me because they’re not as well-known as the other two but I am literally so glad I found them by Advanced Fic Finding Methods because boy what a gem! I loved all of their fics but my particular favourites will be listed below.

BRAND 1: starting off with the healthy relationship ones (well as healthy as you can get) (mandatorily starring a guilty, self-loathing-to-various-degrees tony, and a cast that fully acknowledges that the age difference is problematic):

Stipulations by RTC anon (70k). Peter Parker’s longterm dream recently went from ‘get into MIT’ to ‘afford going to MIT’. As the time approaches, it’s dawning on him that he won’t be able to pay his tuition and afford the move to Cambridge all at once: he’s out of money, his secrets are beginning to pile up, and desperation has started creeping in... And then one night, he saves Tony Stark’s life. AU - Peter is still Spiderman, but they have a different first meeting. This was the first starker fic I completed and it got me fully invested in the ship, coming from a background of never being a particular fan of age difference. It has me seeing in shrimp colours. Bonus: very well executed alternating POV. Also Tony compulsively buying Peter things. Oh to be filthy rich <3 in reality I’d put him in the guillotine but in fiction it’s nice to live vicariously through them :) There is plot but it’s definitely secondary to the relationship.

Revelations by RTC anon (127k) This fic is a thesis for why starker works. An AU where they get the Gauntlet off of Thanos that first time, on Titan. Peter joins the Avengers and reveals his identity to the public. As usual, villains start springing up, and plot ensues.

Expense by RTC anon (47k, WIP) Peter blinks for several silent, panting seconds, then finally closes his mouth. He seems upset. “You don’t want to have sex with me?” “I don’t pay for sex. And no offense, but you’re like twelve.” “I’m eighteen.” “Whatever.” Tony didn’t actually forget his age, but that’s how this arrangement will work best. sex worker peter parker AU (he’s still spiderman). unstoppable force (tony wants to give peter no strings attached money) vs immovable object (peter can’t accept the money without working for it) vs almost-immovable object (tony refuses to fuck peter). 7/8 completed, tony is still holding up but we are seeing cracks, folks. (i.e. no sex has been occurred yet.) recently updated with ch7 which i havent actually caught up on yet. something about this work just makes me fully insane i cant explain it. the reversal of sex worker dynamics just meshes so perfectly with starker?? peter gets to fuck tony and tony gets to give him money. it’s glorious.

Practical Results by is this thing (an)on (81k) (note: peter is 17) fuck-or-die with a fun twist - they’ve been dumped on sakaar, and the grandmaster has switched the entertainment from fighting to porn. make sure you read the epilogue as well!

Archetype (14k) and then the follow-up WIP Set Theory (108k) by is this thing (an)on Don’t read the description for Set Theory before reading Archetype! They’re both so good. Set Theory in particular had me frothing. I’m so glad I decided to read it even after going like “what the fuck” at the description. 11/10 would give my first born child to anon

Classical Mechanics by is this thing (an)on (44k, WIP) G rated fic but *tiktok sound voice* add a little bit of spice Canon compliant mostly I think. Peter’s in his first year of college and Tony keeps signing up to lecture the courses he’s taking. Hello did someone say professor/student starker?? Such a yummy dynamic especially when layered onto their existing dynamic! Overall light-hearted and fun, has alternating POV, and they go to space! The banter is next level. I’ve reread several times while following along with the update and it’s as fresh as ever.

when the sun came up (you were looking at me) by charonsdescent (93k) All the guilt-laden want of regular starker, with even more guilt from pepper’s death and morgan slathered on top. delicious. a sweet, comforting read. 

the friendly neighbourhood by postelectric (23k) This writing is not only excellent but it has flair. So fun to read.

Baby Put on Heart-Shaped Sunglasses by toucanpie (17k) light-hearted and funny while still hitting all the right notes for me to classify it under this brand of starker as described at the start of the section. 

Better Than by unsettled (41k) The healthiest version of starker I’ve ever read where Peter isn’t aged up from the beginning. Peter and Tony through the years, from Tony’s POV. All-round great Tony meta delivered via his rambling, anxious thoughts. *slaps his back* this boy can fit so much trauma inside him. Knowing and being known, underlined three times. 

here is my hand, my heart by belatrix (16k) You have good prose, then you have literary-fiction-level prose. So gorgeous. Tony’s guilt and self-loathing is, as we say in these areas, dialed up to 11 :) Very soft. Basically, I am insane, thanks. 

if you’d grant my love a pardon by belatrix (3k) *yodelling, from the rooftops* THE PROSEEE. Overall insanely good, clenching around my heart, want to eat it whole et cetera et cetera. Soft, bittersweet, Tony unable to commit to the relationship because he knows how wrong it is, but at the same time unable to keep away. I’m sorry. 

as if even now by Anonymous (collection: “anon’s starker fics”) (31k + 2k epilogue fic) Yeah I’m a dumbass that didn’t bookmark or comment on it at the time of reading so my memory of it is a bit hazy, but the important things are: prose with a flair, funny parts, great rambly Tony dialogue. It’s very good. 

BRAND 2: Darker fics! Ah coming from the person who once swore they would never read underage fic... how the turn tables.. Basically, Peter is very young, and Tony is more than a little fucked up. Not sympathetic for Tony. 

The Scenic Route by lovetincture (3k) This fic was something else. The writing is phenomenal. Looping its fingers through your intestines kind of phenomenal. Post Homecoming, Peter is 15, and Tony is sharply aware that he is doing something terrible. This was my intro to the darker brand of starker and I’ve half memorised it at this point it’s so damn good.

Age of Consent by pallidiflora. (5k) Thematically similar to The Scenic Route, equally as good writing. Also I’m obsessed with the description like: While waiting for Peter's seventeenth birthday, Tony Stark obeys the letter of the law, if not the spirit. ugh. chills!

RSVP series by lovetincture (in total 5k, comprised of 3 ficlets) this one is a doozy. they get together when pete is 16. divorce after fifteen years. the bitterness and the thinly veneered wrongness of it all. tipping into regret? not in so many words, but god.

BRAND 3: established relationship! 

take me out (and take me home) by chelicerata (3k) Yes, I cried. Soft established relationship just takes me out. 

Archimedes and Stoplights by heartbreaknow (1k) More softness! Cue me yelling THEM and punching a pillow. The first time Tony stops in the middle of sex to write down a potential breakthrough he’s just had on a tricky lab problem, he and Peter have been together for about six months.

Oh, I've seen that around and heard about it (I know it was implied in one of your FrUK/EngPort fics). I'm kind of entertaining the idea, because I know jack shit about Portugal or Iberian history in General (not that much better with Spain) and it'd be interesting. Also, it'd piss Antonio off and I love messing with him. Can't wait already to make him all pouty and mimimimi about that one time in LFLS where Arthur and Lovino work together briefly to get rid of Harry & Michele, who've been nothing but a giant pain in the arse for the past two years. (I tend to not read Fanfic or not read Fanfic out of my comfort zone if I do, so my way to explore these ships is mostly to do it myself... But if I will make me some Portuguese, I WILL use your fanfics and the one of your friends as inspiration for him, I know that much FOR SURE).

Tbh, I'm not surprised that you're kinda alone as a Ferdibert in the Edelgard-critical corner. My observation is that you have it easiest if you ship Ferdibert and like CF or are at least pretty okay with it. Most Edelgard-criticals I know loathe CF. But the ship can canonically only happen there so that's a problem. Non-CF Ferdibert exists, but it's like maybe, 2% of the Ferdibert fanwork out there? It's an interesting AU, I enjoy it myself, but you run out of reading material quickly. (1/2)

And for a lot of shippers out there, a steady flow of content is what keeps them invested longterm. So non-CF Ferdiberts who are Edelgard-critical usually don't stick around due to the dissonance of it all. And them leaving quickly prevents them from banding together and creating a subfandom of their own. Honestly, a good chunk of the non-CF Ferdibert content is made by Ferdibert shippers who LIKE CF and Edelgard specifically because Edelgard-critical non-CF Ferdiberts rarely stay long. (2/2)

Addendum to my comment about why few Edelgard-criticals like Ferdibert: Plus, as you saw, a lot think that his best character development is outside of CF and that CF and Ferdibert ruins Ferdinand's character. Hence they support non-CF Ferdinand and either ship him with no one or characters with whom he can be together outside of CF within the game proper. It's just that none of these ships can compete with Ferdibert in terms of size. (1/2)

Addendum part 2: Plus, while Edelgard-critical meta people usually praise Ferdinand's development in SS, his other home route, it doesn't really translate to a lot of Ferdinand-centric SS fic (or a lot of SS-fic period). The vast majority of fandom doesn't care about SS or if they do, they still like one of the other three routes more and invest their energy there. So SS!Ferdinand is a hit with critics, you could say, but not so much fic writers or fanartists. (2/2)

You bring up some Edelstans being mad about the existence of Ferdiberts who dislike or don't care about Edelgard. The positive side of that is that I've only seen it a handful of times in fandom and it never gets any reaction from Ferdibert fans. They're too busy in their Ferdibert bubble to care about Edelstans who want more reverence for Edelgard from them, even though said whining Edelstans pretty much never create or consume Ferdibert content themselves.

To add to what the anon said about Edelbert fandom and how it sees the ship: in my experience their fans also love that they have a long history together, the master/servant aspect and the whole trope of repressed feelings for years. A lot of Edelbert fans think that Edelbert have had mutual, repressed feelings for each other years but never acted on them due to the class difference (that is, until they do). So pretty classic master/servant romance stuff.

Part 1: In my experience, the majority of Hubert ship fic out there (I've read a lost of it, trust me) goes for platonic Edelbert devotion. Ships where Hubert is in love with Edelgard prior to getting with his fic love interest is very rare. I can kind of see why people regard ignoring Hubert--->Edelgard as entirely canon compliant due to the fact that so many A-supports are romantic or strongly implied to be romantic but can all happen at the same time, unlike old FE games.

Part 2: If you go for "perfect" canon compliance in a 3H, you'd have to portray many 3H character as in love with multiple people. Which is a mess few writers want to deal with, so they pick one love interest and adapt the outcomes of other A-supports to a completely platonic resolution.

DimiClaude stayed so popular because Claude's other m/m option with a personality is weird-looking (Lorenz), so Claurenz has low mass appeal compared to DimiClaude. And Claude also has no other appealing m/m options unless you go into crack territory. Claude is shipped more with e.g. Felix than, Balthus, Ignatz etc. Plus, DimiClaude is attractive, extremely popular dude x attractive, extremely popular dude, of course it's big. And they even have interactions, just not a support chain.

i do have love for my older pre-100 fics, because i know quite a lot of people liked them, and they were really wonderful to write at the time, but sometimes i wish i had a better vision beforehand? 

obviously you do not need a longterm vision to write, but as a person who gets deeply annoyed with clutter, nearly 100 1k fics with ships i’m not as invested in anymore sort of wears at me, versus the sort of newer stuff i want to do, which is more thought out AUs and oneshots that are higher in quality. i guess?

So does your Isolation AU end with all the metas depowered/supplanted in general by badass normals? NGL, a fully professional force with standardized equipment (possibly supplied by Wayne Enterprises) strikes me as a lot safer than these amateurs with unpredictable powers. And I think Superman, at least, would welcome the chance to retire.

So in the Isolation AU the JLA, while a respected organization on the outside, is actually kind of a disorganized mess. There’s really no one who wants/can corral the large range of powers/personalities in the League so no one does. It’s more a loose club than an official organization. They get together for press meetups, they have the Watchtower as a home base of sorts but there’s no official meetings to discuss longterm goals, not a lot of pre-planning for missions, and, if there’s big trouble they kind of send out a call and hope someone shows up. 

Certain people, J’onn maybe Diana if she’s up for it, tries to organize and keep in contact but everyone’s always running to and fro, always putting their other responsibilities above what they consider a voluntary club meeting. 

In my Isolation AU fic (thats mostly planned I just. can’t. get. my. brain. working) it becomes a major issue when the world is threatened and suddenly the League is scrambling because their plans are flimsy and everyone’s doing their own thing. It’s only when the Bats come in as a tight, organized unit, following a set of preplanned rules and working coherently with one another that the JLA sees what they could be if they actually invested time and effort into the Justice League. Its one of the major turning points for the Leaguers on having humans involved as the Bats are kicking ass and taking names while they’re tripping over their shoelaces.

Also just the mental image of Bats kind of pursing their lips and awkwardly shuffling their feet at how disorganized and uninvolved the so called professionals are. Its like if a high school debate team went to the UN and people there are playing ping pong and not doing anything relevant

i think to spice it up a lil bit, this mob obi-wan isn't nearly as deranged as obi-wan in pbatmb; at least, he could be and has his moments--especially where anakin is concerned, but he does care a bit more about the city and its people than mobi-wan in pbatmb does. he just cares with intensive violence as befitting a mob fic

but oh!!! rex & anakin! i think it's a great idea to have them be friends before, because youre right i do think it'd be interesting if anakin had a past working with obi-wan's mob when he was a kid and then met rex that way

but instead of them just staying friends, i think in this au it would make more sense for someone---cliegg?---to find anakin and adopt him/take him in after his mom died, and he gets kind of forced on the law-abiding path by cliegg and his new brother owen who is a very overbearing but also protective of him

and so he doesn't keep in contact with any of his old friends, maybe cliegg even moves cities to try and keep anakin in line for the sake of his future

but then they meet when anakin's grown up and back in the city, on the arm of his wife the mayor. i think it'd be interesting if palpatine was the police commissioner that padme and the city council trusted and respected and anakin trusted and respected too. and he's overjoyed when he runs into rex who is now a cop because look at them!! they both made it out of the mob life without losing themselves!!!

only to find out that's not really true when it's rex who brains him and brings him in to meet obi-wan after he kills (in self defense) idk tup or someone

I’m looking to find new longterm rp partners who have similar, compatible interests and styles who’s down to collaborate on various stories over time. Instead of bonding over a particular idea or fandom, I’m looking for someone who shares similar core interests. 

  The most important thing to me is the investment in building characters who aren’t just shallow tropes, but instead feel like whole people, whose actions and behaviors make sense within the context of their personality, history, and motivations. 

  The setting, genre, content, tropes, et cetera all come second—and with those I’m super flexible! High fantasy, western gothic, magical realism, nuclear post-apocalyptic, dystopian cyberpunk, futuristic space opera—you name it, I’ve probably written it, and even if I haven’t, I’m always ready for a new challenge. I can get passionate about pretty much anything, because for me it’s all about the characters, and the rest is just a fun-filled sandbox to play around in.

  One more quick rule:  the median age of my characters is late twenties,  early thirties. Explicit smut is optional  ( but welcome ),  but mature themes are bound be included  and / or mentioned. For this, and many other reasons,  I only write with people who are 21 and older.
