why does loki heimdall beef look like its because of thor and thor is completely oblivious

fhefhreu yeah i think on thor's part it's like a mix of obliviousness and just tuning it out because loki's been hitting the roof ever since they've been introduced to other kids as small children. it must be like white noise to him at this point; it's just one of loki's little quirks (thor pointing to loki who's foaming at the mouth: "he don't bite 🥰" sif: "yes he do!!!!!") but i do think he's MAJORLY oblivious when it comes to loki-heimdall beef, both in terms of degree and reasoning behind it.

don't get me wrong, i do think thor's AWARE there's BEEF but i don't think it's ever crossed his mind that it's personal. for loki and heimdall to not be the biggest fans of each other seems kind of natural to him - opposites in the asgardian ecosystem and all that; loki's a trickster and heimdall's an incredibly good-looking surveillance system. and tbf i think that's how it actually begun. my own personal headcanon is that one of loki's pranks ran away with him (the way they OFTEN DO) and it ended up with a servant taking the fall for it, heimdall was compelled to speak up as he did not want to see the man flogged, kill bill sirens blared inside loki's head and IT'S BEEN DOWNHILL ever since.

it was thor who made it PERSONAL, bet it was something he thought was entirely innocent like defending heimdall to loki or odin a bit TOO ARDENTLY ("how can you say that??? heimdall would NEVER betray the crown! I'd vouch for him with MY LIFE!") or god forbid, letting it slip he found heimdall very handsome (thor thought he managed to come across as casual, he super duper didn't) which led to loki doing a double take so hard he needed an exorcism after. loki internally: ohohoho you think i won't kill all 3 of us? BIG MISTAKE.

Okay but like. What if Thor had died? Not by fratricide, what if he'd just died? Because there's no other siblings (officially...) and even if there was if Odin wants to skip an heir he'd have to think up a reason or admit to literally centuries of lying to everyone, and it's not impossible that both Odin and Thor could die at the same time so like... they actually could have had a Frost Giant sitting on the throne of Asgard. And there doesn't seem to have been any plan to avoid that so...
