The Clash of Worlds chap. 2

Change

Summary: The gang goes to a cabin in order to hide from Olivia and wait for Peter and Logan to arrive. However, Olivia still finds them as well as Laura and they finally come to an understanding to work together to get the hat back.

"How long do we have to hide out here?" Ethan asked, driving to the cabin Olivia had managed to get at the last minute, which was on the outskirts of Whitechapel. Alyssa looked up from Sarah's phone, still unable to find her own no matter how hard they'd tried. She was still in contact with Peter, who was trying to get a last-minute flight to Whitechapel before he decided to fly there himself, since he was able to.

"Until Peter or Logan gets here." Lyss said, looking over at Benny who was fast asleep against the window. It was late, so she wasn't shocked that he kept passing out.

"But how long will that be?"

"I don't know, E." Lyss sighed heavily and shook her head. "Peter's flying, and Logan said he was taking his motorcycle, so chances are Peter will get here first. And I've already told them both where we'll be."

"What about Laura?" he asked, earning a hum from Sarah.

"When I called, I got no answer," she admitted. "Either she ignored it or it's not her number anymore." Ethan sighed and rubbed his face as the vampire looked at her friend worriedly. "I can drive if you want?" she offered, putting a hand on his arm as he shook his head.

"It's only fifteen minutes away... I can make it." he assured her. Alyssa looked back at the phone and nervously played with the labret, taking the bar between her teeth and tugging at it as she waited for a response from Peter. He was a surprisingly nice person, much nicer than Olivia, and it baffled her how anyone could like her... though she figured the same could be said for her and her own bad attitude.

>P: Are you sure Olivia hasn't followed you?

>A: nope she def lost us if she woke up already

>P: Just keep your distance. She's dangerous, but she's not evil. I'll talk some sense into her for you guys.

>A: thx peter. she totally has sum problems

Lyss looked up as they came to a stop and saw the cabin directly in front of them. She looked over at Benny and shook him gently on the shoulder as he woke up and looked around groggily, yawning and stretching before he unbuckled and got out of the car. Lyss got out and handed Sarah her phone back, earning a quiet "thank you" from her as Lyss approached the cabin and found the key hidden for them.

"Should we go check on Erica and Rory?" Ethan asked nervously, walking over to Alyssa as she unlocked the door.

"Olivia shouldn't go after them. She doesn't know we're connected to them unless they tell her," she assured him while he gave her a worried look. "Point taken..." she muttered, realizing that they both had big mouths for different reasons. "Look, chances are she won't mess with them. She has no reason to."

"And we haven't even told them where we are." Sarah added while Ethan sighed and went inside with the group.

"That's what I'm worried about." he admitted, looking around carefully as Alyssa put the key down and walked over to the couch, sitting down and sighing.

"You guys can figure out the rooms... I'll stay up and keep watch," she said as Sarah grabbed Ethan's hand and encouraged him to relax a bit, both of them heading for one of the rooms before Lyss sat up. "No funny business!"

"Alyssa!" Sarah cried in embarrassment and disgust as she and Benny both laughed. The couple disappeared into the room and Alyssa relaxed on the couch, sighing heavily as Benny sat next to her, leaning his head back and yawning.

"Go get some sleep." Lyss encouraged, nudging him lightly with her foot as he looked over at her sleepily before he lay on top of her, earning a laugh from her. She happily wrapped her arms around him as he rested his head in the crook of her neck and began to fall asleep again, holding onto her as she lightly rubbed his back and stared up at the ceiling. She slowly began to close her eyes as she began to fall asleep herself, much to her own dismay as she wanted to be awake in case either Olivia found them or Peter arrived.

However, when she began to open her eyes again, she found herself on a cliff somewhere high up in the mountains. The whole world around her felt different, and the air was much cleaner as she breathed it in and looked around. She pushed herself up to her knees, blinking a little in the bright sunlight, raising a hand to shield the one eye that was visible without her fringe covering it, and finally noticed a man nearby.

She stared at him in confusion before it gave way to shock when she realized who it was. Everyone knew of him and his story, or at least what had been told. Arthur Morgan, the notorious bank robber and outlaw who was once a member of the powerful Van der Linde gang. He died around the time that things started to change in America's history, and the school Alyssa used to attend in New York told the abbreviated stories of Arthur Morgan and his crimes...

But the man in front of her didn't look dangerous, not in the least. He looked sad, and even his aura was filled with sadness. There was not an ounce of evil left in him, and Alyssa had learned in her own personal research, after realizing that the history lessons she had learned were mostly bullshit, that he had sought redemption in his last days after being diagnosed with tuberculosis... and now that she thought about it, she realized that there were stories of a woman who went by the title of "Badger" running with him...

"Arthur...?" Alyssa said quietly, lowering her hand as the man finally turned his head to look at her.

Alyssa gasped as she woke up, looking around confusedly and breathing quickly as she came to. She blinked a few times before rubbing her face and looking down to see Benny still fast asleep on top of her. She heard another knock on the door and Lyss gave Benny a light tap on the shoulder, waking him up and getting him off of her as she approached the door quickly and quietly. Peering through the peephole, she saw a man with brown floppy hair and a stubble standing on the other side of the door. She unlocked the door and opened it, peeking out as Peter looked at her.

"Alyssa?" he asked and she nodded, opening the door all the way and letting him in. "Have you seen Olivia?" he asked and Lyss shook her head.

"Not yet...have you?"

"Unfortunately, no," he admitted with a sigh, shaking his head. "I tried to find her where you said she was last, but she must have woken up and left." he looked down at the teenager as she played nervously with the labret again.

Three hours earlier...

Olivia gasped as she woke up, coughing up some extra blood as she looked around. She slowly pushed herself to her feet and groaned in irritation, shaking her head and standing fully up. She put a hand to her stomach and found that the bullet wound had completely healed on its own, as expected. She looked around and sniffed the air, trying to catch any scents, but found absolutely nothing. Growling, she started walking in the direction Ethan and Sarah had come from just before she was shot.

Upon arriving at the house, Olivia caught a scent and continued to sniff the air. She looked around carefully and sniffed more before she caught Alyssa's scent and bared her teeth. She began to follow it as best she could, noticing that the scent died out completely at the driveway.

"Where did you go..." Liv growled, looking around more before she looked inside the house to find the door locked. She looked around before noticing that one of the windows was open, so she climbed up the tree and jumped to the window, holding on to the sill as she pushed the window open and climbed inside. Sniffing around, she caught Alyssa's scent all over the room and went over to the computer to see that it was off. She looked around more before noticing a piece of paper on the desk, picking it up to see numbers on it. Her eyes widened as she quickly recognized each number and her stomach sank as she realized that they weren't just Peter's, but most likely Logan and Laura's as well. She put the paper down and swore to herself, looking around for any possible sign of where they'd gone before she caught Peter's scent, causing her to panic and hide.

She slipped into the closet and hid as Peter also climbed in through the window and searched for her, using her own abilities against her as he had managed to learn how to use her tracking skills after she had explained them to him not too long ago. She watched him through a crack in the door as he looked around for her, unable to pinpoint her location with all the different scents in the room, growing confused as he came to the conclusion that she must have already disappeared, leaving the same way he'd come as Olivia slowly slid out of the closet and walked to the window, watching him leave.

She jumped out of the window and began to follow him carefully from a distance, using him to find Alyssa. Chances were he knew exactly where she was, and Olivia intended to use him to get to her. So she followed him for nearly three hours, out of the suburbs and into the more rural area, into another wooded area, and to the cabin hidden on the outskirts of town.

Liv watched as Peter was greeted at the cabin by Alyssa, her lip twitching in anger as she felt a twinge of jealousy spark in her. Alyssa was young and very pretty, why shouldn't Peter think the same? Sure, Olivia didn't look nearly as old as she was, but it was obvious that she looked at least middle-aged. As her mind raced with things that didn't really matter and made her anger towards Alyssa even stronger, she didn't even notice the scantily clad goth approaching her in silence.

"Your boy toy found a new mate?" Laura teased as Olivia jumped in surprise and looked at her younger sister with irritation as the woman smiled a little and scoffed. "You're losing your touch, sis."

"Fuck you." Liv snarled, looking back at the cabin. "That 'mate' stole Arthur's hat."

"A hat?" Laura repeated with a sneer, shaking her head and rolling her eyes. "You're really going to kill a stupid teenager over a hat?"

"I know you barely remember Arthur, but that hat means a lot to me, Laure." Liv complained, looking at her younger sister with distress as she sighed.

"Well, one of those idiots called me and almost blew my damn cover. So there better be a good reason why I'm out here." she shook her head and crossed her arms.

"They took my hat and they won't give it back, Laura. I need it back."

"Then let's get it back so you can get back to New York and I can get back to my mission."

"To what? Destroying Hydra?" Liv snapped as Laura slapped her arm.

"Fuck you." Laura snapped, glaring at her before both women started for the cabin. Olivia was about to kick the door open when Alyssa swung it open and pointed her gun directly at the older mutant, surprising her as she stared down at the teen.

"Stay back." Lyss warned, leaving the cabin with Peter close behind as Olivia and Laura both retreated as Liv pulled Laura behind her, more concerned for her because she didn't have adamantium covering her entire skeleton so she was in danger of being seriously wounded.

"Just give me the hat."

"They don't have it, Olivia." Peter said as he made Alyssa lower her gun and approached Olivia. He placed his hands on her arms as she stared at the man, watching him as he gently rubbed her arms. "Why don't we just go home?"

"Not without Arthur's hat!" Liv snapped, pulling away from him and releasing her claws, lunging at Alyssa as she teleported out of the way, watching as she slammed into the door, groaning in pain.

"Don't you think I would have given it back to you if I had it?" Alyssa complained, looking at Laura as the woman shrugged. "You must be Laura."

"Yep." The woman gave her a half-hearted smile before patting Peter's arm. "Well, you seem to got this. Good luck, pretty boy." she said as he gave her an annoyed look as she started to leave before a loud roar caught their attention. Alyssa stood up straight as her eyebrows furrowed and she felt a demon approaching quickly, muttering something about being angry. Her gun dematerialized from her hand and was replaced by her sword as she took off running towards the demon, watching it quickly run towards them as Peter protected both Laura and Olivia from the impending doom if Alyssa didn't deal with it.

Lyss leapt into the air and brought her sword down on the demon, slicing cleanly through it as it snarled and grabbed her, trying to throw her, but she transformed into her devil form in one big blast, decimating its hand before she shot the demon several times and watched as it burst into a bright light and crumbled into ashes. She returned to her human form and landed on the ground as the ashes fell around her and the trio stared at the teenager in shock, quickly realizing that she was indeed Dante's daughter. She turned to them and shot a glare at all three of them as Laura laughed.

"That was awesome," she said as Peter and Olivia both looked at her. "Did you see that?!"

"Yeah. It was terrifying." Peter said bluntly as he finally lowered his arms as Liv walked past him and approached Alyssa who was watching her closely.

"Do you have any idea where the hat is?" she asked and Alyssa rolled her eyes.

"I'd tell you if I knew." Lyss admitted before taking a moment to think before looking at her. "But I might know someone who does." she said, motioning for her and the others to follow. They did so, entering the cabin to find the lounge empty since Benny had long since retired to the room he and Alyssa were supposed to share.

"Is this where you live?" Laura asked, looking around with a judgmental look as Liv slapped her arm and gave her an annoyed look.

"No. I was hiding from your psycho sister." Lyss muttered as she turned to face the trio. The comment earned her a death glare from the woman in front of her, while Lyss just ignored it. "Look, we can do this the hard way or the easy way," she said, crossing her arms. "We can either look for the hat by hand, or we can ask the person attached to the hat where it is."

"What?" Liv asked annoyed, narrowing her eyes.

"The hat is bound to Arthur. If I can contact him, I can see if he knows where it is. Then you can leave and stop trying to kill me." Alyssa explained, lowering her arms as the group looked at each other before looking back at her.

"Are you sure this will even work?" Peter asked cautiously, looking concerned for the teenager as Liv looked over at him for a moment before pursing her lips and crossing her arms, stepping away.

"I almost made contact with him earlier... I think," she admitted, giving him a reassuring smile. "I just... need to sleep, I guess? I mean, that's how I connect with supernatural beings. I can't do it awake." she explained as Laura tilted her head.

"Sounds like a hassle."

"It is." Lyss sighed before shaking her head and walking over to the couch to lie down. "Maybe if I get some sleep I can connect with him again," she closed her eyes and tried to sleep, grimacing a little when she felt eyes on her, opening her eyes to look at the trio with a grimace. "I can't sleep with you staring at me..." she muttered as they all looked away and found something else to do. Peter grabbed a nearby chair and brought it over to the couch to make sure he could be close while Alyssa closed her eyes and tried to fall back asleep.

Olivia watched Peter with a worried expression as Laura approached her older sister and placed a hand on her arm. Liv looked at the slightly shorter woman as she patted her arm reassuringly.

"He doesn't have feelings for her. It's okay." Laura reassured her quietly as Liv grimaced and shook her head. "You know how Peter is... he cares about everyone else before himself."

"Alyssa is young and beautiful..." Liv muttered while Laura rolled her eyes.

"And what does that make you? An ugly old hag?" she scoffed playfully, shaking her head. "Have you looked in a mirror lately, Olive? You're beautiful too."

"Not like her."

"Yeah, because Pete's going for a teenage emo who's fifteen years younger than him and not even out of high school?" the goth asked sarcastically, keeping her voice low so the others wouldn't hear her. "I swear... you'd think someone your age would have outgrown that bullshit by now."

"Not everyone is as confident as you." Liv muttered, giving the younger mutant an annoyed look. "You can walk around in those revealing outfits and be confident...but I'm just..." she trailed off as Laura raised an eyebrow.

"Stuck in the past?" she finished as Olivia looked away.

Alyssa finally managed to fall asleep again and when she opened her eyes, she was back where she was before. She looked around frantically when she couldn't find Arthur where he was before. She scrambled to her feet and looked around, finding Arthur seemingly looking for her before he whipped around to face her, staring down at the teenager as she stared up at him for a long moment.

"Who are you?" he asked cautiously as she held her hands up, hoping to show him that she wasn't a threat.

"I'm Alyssa Redgrave," she said as he visibly relaxed a bit when she lowered her hands. "I was wondering if you know where your hat is?"

"I gave it to Marston," he said with a furrowed brow. "Did he lose it?"

"No. He gave it to Olivia," she assured him as he sighed in relief. "But someone stole it and she's looking for it."

"What?" he snapped, looking around irritably. "Do you know who?"

"No. That's why I'm here," she said as she approached him. "Arthur, I need you to focus. Do you have any idea where it is?" she asked and he sighed, closing his eyes and trying to concentrate. His eyebrows furrowed as he opened his eyes again and looked at the teenager in front of him.

"New York... I don't know where, though," he said as Alyssa sighed and rubbed her face. "I can help you. If Olivia's in danger, she needs me."

"Olivia's fine, Arthur." Lyss assured him, placing her hands on his chest to keep him from moving. "Besides, I'm afraid you're stuck here." she said as his eyebrows furrowed. "You're dead." she explained as he stared at her in confusion before he finally remembered what had happened. He blinked a few times and looked around in confusion before looking back at her.

"I died here..." he murmured, staring at her. "What are you?"

"A Nephilim." Alyssa said softly. "I exist somehow between the two realms."

"Micah killed me," he muttered, his eyebrows furrowing as Lyss put her hands on his shoulders, trying to help him stay grounded. "That damn rat killed me, and Olivia watched me die!"

"Micah is dead, Arthur." Alyssa assured him, holding his shoulders as he looked at her. "It's been... 115 years." she said as he looked at her and huffed.

"That explains your clothes." he muttered as she scowled and released his arms.

"Hurtful." she muttered before shaking her head. "You're trapped here, but I can help you get to where you need to be." she assured him as he scoffed and shook his head.

"Sendin' me to hell after all this time would be pointless." he muttered, but Alyssa shook her head.

"You weren't a perfect or completely good person, Arthur. But you weren't evil either," she assured him, giving him a small smile as he stared at her. "I promise you, you'll see everyone you love." she placed a hand on his arm as he took a deep breath and looked out at the sunrise once more, realizing that it had never really changed. It had been the same all along, and he had never even noticed.

"Everyone?" he asked as Alyssa nodded.

"Everyone." she promised, smiling as he placed a hand on her arm and gave her a small nod.

"All I ever cared about... was loyalty. All I ever knew... all I ever believed in. Olivia and John were the only ones who..." he trailed off, lowering his head with a faint sigh. "Tell Olivia... that I miss her and I'm sorry." he said softly before Alyssa woke with a jolt and gasped, startling Peter as he put a hand on her shoulder to ground her as she looked up at him. She gave him a nod to assure him that she was okay as Olivia quickly hurried over to the couch and leaned over the back of it as she looked at Alyssa with some concern.

"The hat is still in New York." Lyss explained, rubbing her face as she straightened. "Arthur wasn't able to pinpoint where it was because he's been disoriented for over a century." she explained as she looked at Olivia. "He wanted me to tell you that he misses you." she said as the woman stared at her for a long moment before scoffing and shaking her head.

"I don't appreciate being lied to." she growled and walked towards the door as Lyss pursed her lips and watched her. Peter sighed and stood up, patting Alyssa's arm gently.

"I'll talk to her." he assured her, walking out of the cabin after Olivia as Sarah left her and Ethan's room, pausing when she saw an unfamiliar woman by the couch. Laura turned to her and offered a small wave as Sarah awkwardly waved back, looking at Alyssa in confusion.

"Sarah, this is Laura. Laura, this is Sarah." she introduced as Laura approached Sarah and offered a gloved hand. Sarah shook her hand and looked at her outfit.

"I love your outfit." she commented as Laura laughed and smiled.

"Thank you. I love your hair." she complimented as Sarah smiled and fixed her hair.

"Thanks." Alyssa stood up and rubbed her face, looking at Sarah as the vampire looked at her with concern. "What's wrong?"

"We may have to go to New York." Lyss admitted as Sarah frowned.

"Arthur's hat is still in New York." Laura whispered and Sarah nodded slightly.

"Oh... well, if it means Olivia won't kill you." she said while Laura nodded in agreement and crossed her arms. "Didn't you say Sam and Dean were in New York for a hunt?" she added as Lyss looked at her before her eyes widened and she stood up, reaching for Sarah.

"Can I borrow your phone again?" she asked and the vampire quickly pulled her phone out of her pocket and handed it to Alyssa. "Maybe Sam has an idea where it is." she muttered, dialing his number and holding the device to her ear as Laura and Sarah both came closer to hear the call as Alyssa scowled and tried to push both women away.

"Sarah?" Sam asked confused as she had never actually called him before even though they had each other's numbers.

"No, Alyssa." Lyss corrected. "I lost my phone like an idiot, so I'm using Sarah's right now."

"Oh alright, what do you need?" he asked, the concern in his voice clear as she rarely called him when she needed something.

"This mutant Olivia Howlett is trying to kill me because she thought I stole a hat, but I never took it, and when I connected with the spirit that is connected to the hat, he said it was in New York," she rambled, pushing Laura's face away when his face got too close to hear the phone call. "Have you guys seen a... cowboy hat?" she asked before Laura grabbed Alyssa's wrist and made her turn the phone towards her, causing Lyss to grunt in irritation and struggle to get the phone back.

"The hat is an old leather cowboy hat with a notch in the front, an old patched bullet hole and a tattered rope tied around it." Laura explained, finally releasing Alyssa's wrist as the teen growled at her and pressed the phone to her ear again.

"Cowboy hat with a tattered rope?" Sam repeated as Alyssa sighed and nodded.

"That's what Olivia's little sister Laura says." she muttered, shaking her head before they heard screaming outside the cabin. The three women quickly turned to the front door in confusion as Lyss sighed. "I gotta go...let us know if you find anything." she said, hanging up before getting an answer and handing the phone back to Sarah as the women walked together to the door. Alyssa opened the door to see a large man arguing with Olivia while Peter desperately tried to defuse the situation, telling both of them to just calm down.

"Dad!" Laura exclaimed, pushing past Alyssa and Sarah and running to Logan, jumping into his arms as his anger quickly melted away and he returned the hug. Alyssa relaxed when she realized it was Logan and stepped out of the cabin while Sarah remained inside, still wary of the mutant in front of her.

"Logan, this is Alyssa." Peter said as the man looked at Alyssa, glancing at the teen before scoffing.

"You look like Dante." he commented as Lyss nodded slightly.

"Yeah, I get that a lot." she admitted before folding her hands behind her back. "So you're Wolverine? You're a lot bigger than in the comics."

"I know." he grunted, looking at the girls as they both nodded in agreement. "Those assholes saw how small my daughters were and decided to make me small too."

"That's an asshole thing to do." Liv muttered. "And I'm sorry I had to drag you all the way out here."

"Don't be. I didn't realize Olivia had gone off the rails again," he assured her before glaring at the woman as her claws released and she bared her teeth. "Don't fucking start with me. You tried to kill a damn teenager, Olivia! What the hell has gotten into you?!"

"You don't even remember Arthur, you asshole!" Liv shouted in return as Laura stepped back and stood next to Alyssa, crossing her arms as she looked at Peter for him to do something. The brunette sighed heavily and walked around the two mutants, standing with the girls instead as they watched.

"What the hell does that have to do with anything?"

"Everything!" Liv yelled, stamping her foot in anger.

"Arthur was worried about you!" Alyssa exclaimed as Olivia glared at her. "H-he said that all he ever believed in was loyalty, and that you and John - whoever that is - were the only ones who remained loyal," she explained as Olivia's face immediately softened as her anger quickly melted and gave way to sorrow once again. "I forgot to tell you... but he wanted me to tell you that he was sorry. He didn't say what for, but... but I have a feeling you know."

"He's sorry because he thought he let me down." Olivia said softly as tears formed in her eyes, staring at Alyssa as if no one else was there. As if she was the last connection she had to her Arthur. "As he was dying in my arms... he kept apologizing. He apologized for not protecting me better, but he did more for me than he could ever imagine... and I stayed by his side because he was all I had," she lowered her head as Alyssa's face contorted with sympathy, approaching Olivia cautiously as her claws retracted. "I couldn't leave him when he died. I wanted him to know that someone still loved him in his last moments..." Olivia finally began to cry as Alyssa reached her, placing her hands on the older woman's arms before pulling her close for a hug.

Olivia returned the hug as she cried into Alyssa's shoulder, finally releasing a century of heartache as Alyssa rubbed her back reassuringly. She sighed softly as everyone watched the two of them embrace, finally relaxing as they realized that maybe Olivia wouldn't continue her self-destructive crusade. Once she had calmed down a bit, Alyssa pulled away and put her hands on Olivia's shoulders.

"I want to help you," she said softly as Liv nodded slowly. "Let us help you. All of us." she added as the mutant looked at all the faces around her, her heart tightening as she realized she still had people around her who cared about her. Her golden hazel eyes landed on Alyssa's ice blue ones as Lyss gave her a reassuring smile. "And how about this; if we go back to New York with you and we don't find Arthur's hat, I'll let you kill me. No fighting." she offered, making the mutant laugh.

"Deal."

Bc it's almost that time of year, how do you think everyone at Blackwell celebrates Halloween? I know like realistically it'd be divided between vortex club party and horror movie night at the dorms between the cast, but I also love the idea of at least some of them going out trick or treating or just giving out candy to kids. My headcanons are:

The Vortex club throws a huge exclusive party every year. Of course.

Max likes to watch horror movies in her dorm, and then go online and read an in-depth analysis about how the movie was filmed.

The Blackwell kids that don't attend the Vortex Club party usually group up to do something else. The jocks go to a haunted to prove how tough they are....which ends with Zachery dead sprinting out the attraction while carrying Logan over his shoulder.

Alyssa and Stella decide to read a few classic horror novels and then go over their notes together on Halloween eve.

Dana goes to every single Halloween party that is thrown in her vicinity. She is SO good at apple bobbing by now.

Taylor makes sure to catch the "Halloween Baking Championship" every year. It's one of her guilty pleasure shows.

Kate goes to the local trunk or treat and helps hand out candy to kids. She gives out the good giant candy bars too.

Evan goes around photographing anything Halloween related. He could put a whole album of just "Houses that were decorated for Halloween in an aesthetically pleasing way."
