Song Review: Molina, Talbot, Lofgren & Young (Billy Talbot) - “Rain”

After 50 years of playing with Neil Young, Crazy Horse bassist Billy Talbot probably can’t help but sound like the barn’s head honcho.

Talbot’s “Rain” is one of his three tracks on All Roads Lead Home, the forthcoming album credited to Molina, Talbot, Lofgren & Young that finds each Crazy Horse musician offering solo cuts. Musically, it’s a mix of Young’s folksy and mellow-rock sides; the words simplistic like Young’s 21st-century work.

The bassist’s voice is creaky and hoarse. But his track echoes his boss as he sings:

The rain keeps pouring down/rain on my head/rain with a deafening sound/I don’t know what it means/maybe it’s my dream

One of three Talbot offerings, “Rain” follows Nils Lofgren’s “You Will Never Know” ahead of All Roads Lead Home’s March 31 arrival.

The thing that really grinds my gears about people saying "every Gaza fundraiser is a scam [: Only donate to REAL organization " is how much the insist that you "just LOOK AT THEM-" while they clearly aren't actually looking at the campaigns themselves to double check You can tell by how confidently they'll write:

"No struggling family in Gaza is creating a Tumblr account just to message random people for money-?"

MOST OF THE CAMPAIGNS ARE RUN BY LOVED ONES OF THE PEOPLE IN GAZA, LIVING OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY TRYING TO RAISE ENOUGH MONEY TO GET THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILY WHO ARE STILL STUCK IN GAZA TO SAFETY AND FOOD AND HEALTHCARE BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!

No duh they aren't run literally by the families in the middle of evacuating like it's just a twitter update!! You can check this. It will say under their GoFundMe campaign vvvvv

Wifi and power is fickle it's hard to eliminate completely try as any oppressive government might.

I understand being overwhelmed by people talking to you like they're on TikTok, filling up your inboxes from blogs that haven't been around that long, speaking obviously translated English about how they and they're family are literally dying right now so won't you "please donate!? :emoji: :emoji:". That's all more than a little bit nerve-wracking. I never, NEVER said there could not be scammers in all this.

However, that's also where you ought to put your damn money where your mouth is and CLICK ON THE CAMPAIGN LINK!!! For the love of god just-

Do the work. Click on link -> Look for any "so and so is organizing this campaign on behalf of-" messages+ "Donations Protected" badge+ "this is a campaign for my 'x' in Gaza" disc+ UPDATES which are always helpful.

Copypaste, reverse-image and google names to see what comes up if you're really skeptical.

This part is sad: a lot of non-artist layman are told that AI is a good alternative when they can't hire an artist to help promote their campaign. It's not and obviously makes it look MUCH MORE fake to the rest of us, but that's the problem - basic people who don't know social media/don't know English well and are tacking some free course recommending it will follow the rules given to them with no direction thinking it will help them get their attention. Basically, what I'm saying is: even legit people are convinced to use AI.

As someone who just got TikTok (I don't like it) I can confirm 100% that people who basically live on that app talk that way on all their social media. It genuinely explains so much and why even legitimate accounts 'talk' like that.

Keep in mind, a spammer, a scammer and a scam-bot are NOT all the same thing. Like I just mentioned with the AI folks, layman self-promoters are told by ''credible'' sites what to do to get attention and what they're told to do is FLOOD INBOXES not unlike scammers and bots. And that's terrible.

Check on the tumblr post linking to the campaign for some particular names; 90-Ghost, el-shab-hussein and fairuzfan are the usual suspects but they aren't the only ones. These people know what they're doing and they're good at vetting.

Speaking as a person who's had to self fund with a GoFundMe to help out while my SSI was cut it's greatly disturbing to hear someone presume instant malice from a person asking for help. It's equivalent to looking at a homeless person and going "they're JUST going to abuse the money and use it on drugs", even w said person is doing nothing more than holding up a sign saying "god bless" and wearing old clothes.

And, while we're here would you wonderkids at the back mind sharing your own lists of "real organizations" to give money to INSTEAD with the rest of us? Please. You know, the ones that are "legit" by your standards? In just a quick google I found Red Crescent Society, BuildPalestine, arab.org, healpalestine, there's this thing called the UNRWA commitee here in the states.

I didn't do all of this to 'shame' any one or any of you. What I'm sick of is the sheer ignorance and then absolutism in that ignorance. I am DONE hearing "all gofundme's are scams". Even outside of the context of Palestine, it's offensive to me.

All of this is actually really easy to check up on.

If it really matters to you and you genuinely -rightfully- don't want people being scammed in the name of Palestine, Sudan or Ukraine, it's not that hard once you make the time of day for it and use the tools we still have at our disposal to do your fact checking.

Posting something a bit outside of my usual content, but I'm in need of some help. About two months ago, we had to take our dog, Oreo, to the vet due to her having pretty severe heartworm problems. We have managed to afford most of her treatment and medications, but her last appointment is coming up on May 9th.

In addition to that, my dearest cat, Cana, had to be rushed to the ER late last night with pretty severe dehydration and weight loss due to not really eating despite an appetite stimulant and support. We were informed this evening that she has pretty late stage kidney disease and her kidneys have lost a lot of function. She's my baby, I've had her since I was 16 and I'm almost 26. The vet says that with the right support and depending on how much she wants to fight or how long we can medically support her before she starts suffering, she has anywhere from a couple more months to a couple more years. I'm not ready to let her go, and she's clearly not ready to give up, according to the vet. So please, donate if you can, or reblog this post so that more people can see it.

Do Sandy and Kana exist in this universe? If so, were their basis changed so as to keep faithful to the series' British roots? (for example, Sandy being changed from a Motorcar/Rail Speeder into a BR Class 15)

Hi, Sandy and Kana do exist in my au. Sandy is a fairmont mt14 rail speeder/inspection trolley built by the current CME at Crovan’s Gate Dr. Ruth Bell who has also built Philip and Cleo, thus becoming siblings like and best friends. She is currently owned by the works though Sandy loften shunt at the big stations but usually is seen doing track repairs and maintenance on all of the others as well alongside the works gang/crew with her ability to switch her tools.

Sandy also acts as Ruth’s main personal inspection trolley since Cleo isn’t that use to the busy railway life. Also fun fact, both Sandy and Cleo can switch their gauges from miniature-narrow-standard (though this might change for Cleo) sandy especially to help out with maintenance on all the railways (except the cfr though knowing how much spunk and a bit of a daredevil Sandy is, that’s probably for the best.)

Kana on the other hand, works on the Peel Godred Branchline alongside her twin Akira, Riff and Jiff (who’s names are changed) Stafford and a bunch of ocs having been introduced during my take of the International Railway Show Competition in the 90s-early 2000s. Kana and Akira are high speed electric engines (they are either Class 951 Shinkansen built in the 1970s or my take of the BR Class 93 (InterCity 250) billy by Hitachi Rail (so they’re a A-train). that works on the Peel Godred Branch Line extension from Peel Godred to Barrow-In-Furness. They’re both very good friends with the CFR engines.

Once Ruth attempted to make them and some of the other electric engines independent from electricity albeit via power charging stations hence to why Kana tries to go about the island more while the other were content being in one place, mainly to the earl’s estate railway despite her battery draining quicker though they have charging stations in the museums since she’s rechargeable like Stafford as Ruth helped install it at Crovan’s Gate Works, there’s also charging stations at both Ulfstead, Vicarstown and of course Peel Godred itself.

I believe that I am so deeply unlovable, that my very core and my very being is so wrong, that I deserved and continue to deserve every terrible thing that has been bestowed upon me. I'm sure some of this is due to some genetic bullshit and my chronic existentialism, but if we're being brutally honest, you played a huge part in perpetuating that.

Why?

loften wonder what I could have done to you, to our family, to cause you to abuse me like you did. But part of me knows that I am once again blaming myself for a terrible thing that honestly had nothing to do with me.

After all, what could an infant, a toddler, or a child, honestly do to their father to deserve all this punishment? Punishment that continues to torture me long after you killed yourself.

Song Review: Molina, Talbot, Lofgren & Young (Nils Lofgren) - “You Will Never Know”

A Nils Lofgren solo piece titled “You Will Never Know” announces a various-artists LP credited to Molina, Talbot, Lofgren & Young that is not a Crazy Horse album.

It’s not even a band album; more like three EPs and a single.

“Three dear, old friends and bandmates for over 50 years … kept writing and recording songs in their homes during the ongoing pandemic and are proud to share this collection of their music,” per a statement accompanying the lead track from All Roads Lead Home.

“You Will Never Know” is a ballad heavy on Lofgren’s slide guitar and piano that finds the narrator gently telling his lover’s ex to piss off.

You will never know/how quick she forgot you/you will never know/how well she does without you, Lofgren sings on the chorus.

Out March 31, All Roads Lead Home finds each Crazy Horse member offering three cuts while Neil Young tosses in a live, solo version of “Song of the Seasons,” which originally appeared on 2021’s Barn.

Ralph Molina and Billy Talbot are Crazy Horse’s rhythm section.
