I made lobster tails for Valentine’s Day🦞. Do you like them? They were OK, but I don’t think I’ll do it again🙄. In any case, I hope you had a great day💝! Recently, a few friends who are blogging on Instagram🤳 have asked me questions about visibility🕵️‍♀️. Independent blogs benefit from a niche📥 & IG can work similarly. Sometimes we love a subject & want to only share that topic🤗. Like, if I see @musicol.mandalas, I know I’ll see mandalas💮. Or if it’s @straycat1957, I expect to see a fantastic variety of tarot cards🎴. If we show too much variety 👨‍👩‍👧 🥘 ✈️, it’s hard for IG to understand who would enjoy our posts, and our content isn’t offered to as many of our friends as we’d wish 🚫. A visual niche helps, but sometimes it’s a head-scratcher🤔. I recently posted a photo of my classic 1976 BMW 2002🚘 . I share it infrequently. It had more traction than any of my posts since last fall🚘 & even landed on the explore page🧭. But WHY? The evidence points to a few things. FOR GOOD TRACTION, POST: 🔝 a good photo of a subject that has a large, devoted audience 🔝 a caption that introduces the image, & 🔝 popular hashtags that are regularly searched I was surprised😲. I included a screenshot of the data in the carousel above📊. The photo was taken last minute as I left a car audio shop in Ballard. I wasn’t even planning to post it🤷‍♀️. Although IG’s algorithm predicts what we want to see🔮, & hides other content, lately, I’m seeing long-time friends who vanished from my feed 🥰. It’s great to see them again! The days of seeing all our friends in chronological order are gone forever, but maybe IG realized we want to see anything our friends post👫. Or could it be the algorithm is getting a bit more human🤖? Indulge in a quick and flavorful Instant Pot lobster tails recipe from Katie's Cucina. The pressure cooking method ensures tender and juicy lobster tails infused with garlic, butter, and aromatic seasonings.
Ingredients: 4 lobster tails, thawed if frozen. 1 cup chicken broth. 1/2 cup white wine. 4 cloves garlic, minced. 2 tablespoons butter. 1 teaspoon paprika. 1 teaspoon dried parsley. Salt and pepper to taste. Lemon wedges for serving.
Instructions: Cut through the top shell of each lobster tail with kitchen shears, stopping at the tail's base. Pull the lobster meat out of the shell while being careful not to break it. Leave the meat attached at the base. Add the chicken broth, white wine, minced garlic, and butter to the trivet in the Instant Pot. Sprinkle paprika, dried parsley, salt, and pepper on each lobster tail before cooking them. Lay the lobster tails that have been seasoned out on the trivet in the Instant Pot. On the Instant Pot, close the lid and press "Manual." Set the timer for 4 minutes and cook. After the food is done cooking, quickly let the pressure out and carefully open the lid. Move the lobster tails to a serving platter using tongs. The lobster tails should be served with lemon wedges and the Instant Pot cooking liquid should be piped over them.
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 4 minutes

It used to be a joyous affair to visit Cordelia's Secret Cottage, but today all that joy had been sucked out.
Everything looked gray, not just the sky or the moistened rose bushes from the storm rains that had finally ceased.

Cam found himself busying himself before the guests arrived. Adjusting a picture frame here, fluffing a pillow there, adding punch to the bowl so no one would be parched. Anything to keep himself from being reminded of the reason he was there.

The reason that was staring him in the face everywhere he went in the cottage.
His parents.
Both gone.
And what kind of service was he supposed to put on for them—him? If only he didn't have to. But he had to do this for his dad, so he could say goodbye properly this time.

It didn't take long for their guests to gather on the back patio of the house.
The number of their friends and loved ones that were able to make it last minute took Cam aback. So many of them didn't even know Henry well, so the fact that they came, he knew it was for his sake.

He turned to his father's portrait and then took a deep breath.
"Well, dad," He said under his breath, "let's do this one las time, huh?"
With that he turned toward all of his friends and cleared his throat.

A hush traveled across the crowd as everyone brought their attention to Cam.
"I want to thank all of you for joining us today. I know it's probably not what you expected to be doing the day after Harvestfest. And my family certainly didn't expect to lose my dad the day of either."

"But afterwards we have punch and lobstertails, so that makes it worth it, right?" Cam attempted a halfhearted joke that landed very lukewarm. "Sorry." He excused himself. "It's just that Dad never wanted a funeral. He always said when he it was his time to go, he'd embrace it."

"In his mind, when it was his time, he'd be going home like nature intended. So that's why rather than a funeral, he wanted a homegoing ceremony to celebrate his life and the man he was and will continue to be in our minds, hearts, and memories."

"For those of you who didn't know my father well, he had such a grand spirit. When he entered a room, you'd always know it because he'd always be the loudest voice, with the most enthusiasm, the most confidence. He was a very proud man, stubborn too, but he had a genuine heart."

"So genuine that even through everything he did wrong, everything he never quite got right, I loved him. I looked up to him. I wanted to be the kind of man that had his level of pride and confidence and unwavering love for the people in his life."

Cam took a moment as everything inside him fought his desire to break down.
Dre, Cordie, and Millie looked on at him as they felt the intense pain he was holding back and it made it difficult for them all to be just as strong.

"Sorry," Cam excused himself realizing he let his emotion get the best of him. "In celebration of my father, Henry Radcliffe Fletcher, and his life, we ask you take a moment today to smile a little wider, hug your loved ones a little tighter, and dance like there's no tomorrow."

"If not for yourself, me, or my family. Do it for Dad. Because that's exactly how he lived, and he'd wish that kind of life for all of you too. Thank you." Cam nodded his head as their friends and loved ones settled into a moment of silence in memory of Henry Fletcher.

I’m watching the Instigators. One of the places central to the movie is Bova’s in the North End. In one of the scenes in the movie, one of the “bad guys” is going on the lam after a robbery went all wrong. He owns Bova’s. While he is getting ready to bail he is stuffing Lobstertails into a container.
For those of you not familiar with Bova’s, a Lobstertail is not seafood, it is a pastry. Also known as Sfogliatelle. And it is fucking wonderful. Like layers of flaky pastry wrapped around itself in the shape of a horn (lobstertail) and filled with sweet pastry cream. And, btw, Bova’s makes one the best Sfogliatelle in the world.
I left Boston many, many years ago. I don’t miss it very often. I don’t get nostalgic about it. Except for the food. God, I miss the food. I can remember sitting on a door stoop across the street from Bova’s, at 1 in the morning, usually a little drunk, and eating a Lobstertail like it was yesterday.
