Craig Harrington at MMFA:
The economic policy provisions outlined by Project 2025 — the extreme right-wing agenda for the next Republican administration — are overwhelmingly catered toward benefiting wealthier Americans and corporate interests at the expense of average workers and taxpayers. Project 2025 prioritizes redoubling Republican efforts to expand “trickle-down” tax cuts for the wealthy and deregulation across the economy. The authors of the effort’s policy book, Mandate for Leadership: A Conservative Promise, recommend putting key government agencies responsible for oversight of large sectors of the economy under direct right-wing political control and empowering those agencies to prioritize right-wing agendas in dealing with everything from consumer protections to organized labor activity. [...]
Project 2025 would chill labor unions' abilities to engage in political activity. Project 2025 suggests that the National Labor Relations Board change its enforcement priorities regarding what it describes as unions using “members' resources on left-wing culture-war issues.” The authors encourage allowing employees to accuse union leadership of violating their “duty of fair representation” by having “political conflicts of interest” if the union engages in political activity that the employee disagrees with. [Project 2025, Mandate for Leadership, 2023; National Labor Relations Board, accessed 7/8/24]
Project 2025 would make it easier for employers to classify workers as “independent contractors.” The authors recommended reinstating policies governing the classification of independent contractors that the NLRB implemented during the Trump administration. Those Trump-era NLRB regulations were amended in 2023, expanding workplace and labor organizing protections to previously exempt American workers. [Project 2025, Mandate for Leadership, 2023; The National Law Review, 6/19/23; National Labor Relations Board, 6/13/23]
Project 2025 would reduce base overtime pay for workers. The authors recommend changing overtime protections to remove nonwage compensatory and other workplace benefits from calculations of their “regular” pay rate, which forms the basis for overtime formulations. If that change is enacted, every worker currently given overtime protections could be subject to a slight reduction in the value of their overtime pay, which the authors claim will encourage employers to provide nonwage benefits but would effectively just amount to a pay cut. The authors also propose other changes to the way overtime is calculated and enforced, which could result in reduced compensation for workers. Overtime protections have long been a focus of right-wing media campaigns to reduce protections afforded to American workers. [Project 2025, Mandate for Leadership, 2023, Media Matters, 7/9/24]
Project 2025 proposes capping and phasing out visa programs for migrant workers. Project 2025’s authors propose capping and eventually eliminating the H-2A and H-2B temporary work visa programs, which are available for seasonal agricultural and nonagricultural workers, respectively. Even the Project 2025 authors admit that these proposals could threaten many businesses that rely on migrant workers and could result in higher prices for consumers. [Project 2025, Mandate for Leadership, 2023]
Project 2025 recommends institutionalizing the “Judeo-Christian tradition” of the Sabbath. Under the guise of creating a “communal day of rest,” Project 2025 includes a policy proposal amending the Fair Labor Standards Act to require paying workers who currently receive overtime protections “time and a half for hours worked on the Sabbath,” which it said “would default to Sunday.” Ostensibly a policy that increases wages, the proposal is specifically meant to disincentivize employers from providing services on Sundays as an explicitly religious overture. [Project 2025, Mandate for Leadership, 2023]
[...]
International Trade
Project 2025 contains a lengthy debate between diametrically opposed perspectives on international trade and commerce.Over the course of 31 pages, disgraced former Trump adviser and current federal inmate Peter Navarro outlines various proposals to fundamentally transform American international commercial and domestic industrial policy in opposition to China, primarily by using tariffs. He dedicates well over a dozen pages to obsessing over America’s trade deficit with China, even though Trump’s trade war with China was a failure and as he focused on China, the overall U.S. trade deficit exploded. Much of the rest of Navarro’s section is economic saber-rattling against “Communist China’s economic aggression and quest for world domination.”In response, Kent Lassman of the conservative Competitive Enterprise Institute promotes a return to free trade orthodoxy that was previously pursued by the Republican Party but has fallen out of favor during the Trump era.
The Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025 agenda would be a boon for the wealthy and a disaster for the working class folk.

the waistcoat I mentioned in my last sewing projects post! since this has a lot more moving parts and involved some more complex work than the shirts, this was something of a practice exercise, so I did it with a kinda cheap print from a quilting fabrics store. since I had a lot of fun with this I plan to make more in blue and red/gold fabrics that I have, which will hopefully, unlike the print, not leave little white marks everywhere a needle pokes through.
big note for next time is to try and pay more attention to the pocket welts (the little strips that cover the opening), since the pattern doesn't quite match up on either of them & the attachment is a bit shoddy.
...but a very exciting note for next time, or the time after, whenever I use the red/gold fabric, is that I will be using these:
Tumblr media
these brass buttons were dated to the late 1830s by the antiques store I bought them at (a cursory Google suggests that button enthusiasts concur.) there are seven in total, which is a couple more than I need for the front closure, so I might see about making that one double-breasted and keep the seventh around for a spare or memento or what have you. hang it off my watch chain maybe.
also, it's a bit too dark to get a good image of it right now, but soon I'll have a picture to share of my "new" sewing machine! I mostly plan to use it for seams and other concealable structural elements--hand finishing is too much fun & provides too neat of a finish for me to give it up.

To everyone who has family supporting trump and his ideals I'm so sorry.
It's horrible to fight the internal battle of love for your family and how horrified you are they supported this..
My mother believed Trump would help her lower her taxes and house payment. When we can see the tariffs Trump plans on imposing, will raise inflation. We had 2% inflation before the election, and the market was adjusting. My mom bought during the absolute height of the housing crisis, and prices have only come down. While she may technically save on taxes it's miniscule, and the higher priced items from the tariffs will offset that.
My mother didn't believe project 2025 was real, thought student loans were all forgiven, didn't realize Trump would attack public land, and had no clue about the tariffs. She has no idea or thoughts on the Israel vs. Palestine war. She didn't read.. she just listened to Fox News.
My grandmother thinks the Palestinian people should all die. She believes the world would be better if they didn't exist. That their women and children are worthless bomb fodder. Yet she's very concerned about abortion...
I'm fucking disgusted it took so much restraint not to bitch slap her right then and there.
I wish I was not an American. I wish I could afford to leave. I'm so scared and I'm so horrified.

Please read, don't scroll pass this. (II)
One the previous post I talked about the KOSA Bill and the TikTok Ban Bill as you can see above, but now for this post I'm going to talk about something of even greater importance. Project 2025.
Project 2025 is a plan from Republicans / Conservatives to seize total control of America from the inside out while destroying democracy in the process, ultimately turning America into a Christian nationalist militarized state. One of the main ways they plan on making this a reality is through Trump getting a second term as president.
If this comes to pass, this will ruin and even end the lives of many, and to make it worse, the changes caused by Project 2025 will still be in effect even long after Trump's second term ends.
We cannot let Trump when this election, and as much as I hate this, Biden is really our only choice since voting on a 3rd party will most likely won't work. I know Biden has a lot of problems, but we don't have a choice.
Here is some more links with some additional info (including the actual Project 2025 website), please look more into this and spread this around (even if you're not in America)

For t/f: I assume you’re a huge advocate for physical books over ebooks??
False!
~
Ebooks are hugely accessible, and as someone with massive RSI issues in my wrists (partly from writing), holding heavy books and the repetition of turning pages can be literally agonising, and can even lead to me needing surgery one day for tendon release.
I do love physical books, and I have a large collection that I'm very proud of, and weed on a yearly basis. But I absolutely am not an advocate for them over ebooks, let alone a huge one. Ebooks have been such a game-changer for anyone with accessibility issues.
Readers no longer have to rely on publishers being grudgingly generous enough to offer books in large fonts if they have visual processing issues. They can change the font (most of the time) on an e-reader. Readers no longer have to lug around extremely heavy nonfiction books, and can save their backs and wrists. Readers who live in very small or cramped spaces because of poverty or other reasons no longer have to deal with 'where do I keep all these books' because some of them (or all of them) can be ebooks. Also, almost always - with mostly the exception of some university texts - they're cheaper. What a win!
On an accessibility level, ebooks win every time, especially now that we have so many lighting options so that people don't have to put up with backlight etc. anymore. They highlight just how previously ableist the publishing industry has been around visual accessibility and joint strain accessibility.
So I'm mostly a hardcore advocate of people reading how they want to read. A hybrid mix. Only audio. Only ebook. Only paperbacks. Only hardbacks. Some combination of the four.
I love the smell of books, but I don't love the dust. I love having them organised in my library, but I don't love the eternal problem of never really having enough room. I love my ebook collection, but I sometimes forget to check into it. I love that I can get very large nonfiction tomes in ebook form, but sometimes I find them harder to highlight etc. because there's something visceral to me about dragging a highlighter or pencil across a page. Everything has its pros and cons.
But ebooks beat out literally everything else except audio for accessibility (though I can't do audio ironically because of accessibility, lmao, my auditory processing for language isn't great).

When looking at where the Black sides are, we could start by considering where they are not.
FHA and VA loans are credited with helping form the middle class of America by making homeownership available to a large portion of the population. Large housing complexes were developed, beginning with Levittown in Long Island, NY. Similar complexes sprung up in many major cities with one thing in common. No homes could be sold to Black people, with the federal government fully backing redlining, which made segregated housing the rule and not the exception. Black sides of town evolved where the whites elected not to go. There were housing complexes created for Black and Jewish people as well; these “projects” were definitely not intended for the middle class.

So I decided to restart my animal crossing new leaf for the 3ds file completely but I didn't know that Tom Nook would OFFER TO BUY the entire town and let you carry over the money to the new town and it's hysterical because the mayor basically peaces out, cashes in on 30 million bells, changes entire identity, and accidentally becomes the mayor in a new town. There's a fanfic there but I'm too lazy to write it.
#rose and rambles#HELLO????#i did not know that tom would offer to buy AND I DID NOT EXPECT MY TOWN TO BE WORTH 30 MILLION BELLS NOT INCLUDING MY CATALOGUE AND#THE INTEREST I'LL GET FROM GETTING THE BELLS IN INCREMENTS#MAKING THE FINAL TOTAL CLOSE TO 39 MILLION#WOWZER#okay also i did think long and hard about this#like i never have restarted that town#but it was overrun with flowers and i wasn't close to any of the villagers but wolf link#and i can get him again#i needed a blank slate#i do this with farming sims all the time#i restart so often because once i get into late game i have no gumption and animal crossing *is* different#but i really needed that fresh start and it felt better to restart new leaf than horizons#but the funny thing is#i now want to restart new horizons more than ever#i just haven't really touched it since 2020#i never did the pumpkin growing thing im so behind#and every time i think about going back to it i just feel dead#but restarting new leaf has been so fun and refreshing#and its only end of day two BUT i have so much bells to burn on projects#so i can get the foundations of things like bridges and stuff right away and continue through my house loans more organically#idk i feel good#and i might prefer restarting horizons in the future with knowledge of things and#with all the updates already figured out#feels good#also my starter villagers in this new town are#fauna peanut eloise sparro and rooney and im so heckin thrilled#best line up ive ever had in the beginning

did some minor mini-game grinding (slowly losing my shit over amethyst ores never being in any rock) just for that sweet SWEET pair of swimming goggles they have for sale at Tortimer’s island. To my absolute horror I find out they do absolutely nothing to aid the swimming mechanic. 20 precious medals spent on absolutely buttfuck nothing. A mere decorative object. Like I genuinely thought it would make my underwater swimming at least a little bit faster given goggles serve the literal purpose of clearing up your underwater vision, compared to just your eyes…was that not obvious?

Best PMEGP loan : Government Support for Starting Your Own Business.
At sharda Associates The Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) is a government scheme in India that gives financial help to individuals who want to create small companies. It aims to create jobs and encourage self-employment, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas. Here's a simplified view of the scheme
Tumblr media
What is PMEGP?
PMEGP Loan provides financial assistance to people starting new small enterprises by offering a loan with a subsidy. The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) manages it, while the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) oversees its implementation.
Key Features:
1 Loan Amount
Manufacturing enterprises might receive up to ₹25 lakh.
Service enterprises, such as beauty salons or repair shops, can receive up to ₹10 lakh.
2 Government subsidy:
Rural areas:
25% of general category applications.
35% for special categories (such as SC/ST, women, and those from the Northeast).
Urban areas
15% for general category applications.
Special categories are eligible for 25% off.
Who can apply?
1 Eligibility:
Any Indian citizen above the age of 18.
Applicants for projects costing more than ₹10 lakh (manufacturing) or ₹5 lakh (services) must have finished 8th grade.
Self-help groups (SHGs), cooperative organizations, and charitable trusts can all apply.
2 Personal Investments:
General candidates must invest 10% of the project cost themselves.
Special category applicants must invest only 5%.
How do I apply?
1 Application Process:\
Apply online using the PMEGP portal at Official kvic Main.
Upload documents such as ID, address verification, educational certificates, and a business plan.
2 Selection and Loan approval:
A District-Level Task Force Committee will contact you to schedule an interview.
Once approved, the bank sanctions the loan and credits the government subsidy to your loan account.
3 Repayment:
The loan must be repaid within 3-7 years, however the subsidy does not have to be paid back.
4 Training:
All PMEGP grantees are required to complete a brief company management training program.
Example of How PMEGP Loans Work
Suppose you wish to start a small manufacturing plant in a rural region for ₹20 lakh.
For those in the general category, the government will provide a 25% subsidy, amounting to ₹5 lakh.
The bank offers a loan of ₹15 lakh, and you simply need to invest ₹2 lakh from your savings.
Why is PMEGP beneficial?
project report for PMEGP loan assists people in starting enterprises without the requirement for a large initial investment. This loan is ideal for young enterprises as it requires no collateral (up to ₹10 lakh) and offers long payback terms.
Summary
The PMEGP initiative is a useful approach to start a small business with government assistance, particularly if you come from a rural or underprivileged background. It encourages employment generation and economic development. For additional information, please visit the official PMEGP website or contact your nearest KVIC office.

"I have completed the initial review of your business plan and cash flow and overall, you've done a great job putting everything together! Often we have recommendations and changes to help strengthen one's application, however, I don't see any significant gaps in what you've presented."
this is great. I'm going to get a good grade in applying for a business loan, something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve.

If Trump is elected and even more Republicans come into power, literally this is one of the many fucked up things on their agenda. The SAVE plan is the one thing keeping me from homelessness or moving back into an abusive environment. I cannot afford those payments. So many Americans like me will not only be PUNISHED for pursuing higher education but our lives will be absolutely destroyed. College will once again be only for the white, abled, and most importantly rich upper classes. These parasites only care about sucking up more and more of our income that they don't even need! And as a disabled person its especially fucked that these people treat US like the parasites!! Literally every policy they make is just to increase their own personal wealth, they have no interest in actually making this country a better place to live and god forbid the world too. I am scared out of my mind that Trump will be able to put more of his cronies in power.
Please read this and learn more about project 2025 and the fascist scrawlings of shit it is. This is what republicans and conservatives want. They want to rape this country and ruin the last scraps of good thats here. They want to tear down every single good thing that has been fought for with blood and sweat and tears for over a hundred years.
I'm sorry I'm just, I'm so scared. I can't leave this country. It's my home and even if I wanted to leave I can't. Y'all countries who think you're sooo much better than us don't let disabled people like me in. You keep your healthcare to yourselves by literally banning immigration of disabled people, especially those who are of color.
