What is Beltane? Beltane, also known as May Day, is a vibrant and ancient festival that marks the beginning of summer. It falls around May 1st, nestled between the spring equinox and the summer solstice. Let’s dive into the rich history of Beltane and explore how to celebrate this magical time.
The Origins:
Beltane has deep roots in Celtic traditions, particularly among the Gaels in Ireland, Scotland, and the Isle of Man.
The name “Beltane” likely comes from the Gaelic word “beloteniâ,” meaning “bright fire.”
It’s a time when the veil between the living and the spirit world is thin, making it perfect for honoring ancestors and practicing spiritual communication.
Historical Practices:
🔥 Light the Beltane Fire: Light bonfires using nine sacred woods (like rowan, apple, and pine). These flames symbolize love, passion, and protection.
🌺 Dance Around the Maypole: Gather friends and dance around a maypole, weaving ribbons and celebrating fertility.
💐 Make Flower Crowns: Flowers represent fertility and growth. Braid them into your hair, create wreaths, and use them in recipes.
💞 Celebrate Love and Fertility: Honor the union of the Lord and Lady (masculine and feminine energies) through simple or elaborate rituals.
🍓 Share a Beltane Feast: Enjoy these traditional treats, invoking the spirit of Beltane.
Bannock Bread: Bannock is a flatbread oatcake that has endured through the ages. It’s simple, hearty, and perfect for Beltane. Bake it over an open fire to connect with the festival’s fiery energy. Caudle: Caudle is a warm, spiced drink made with milk, eggs, and ale or wine. It symbolizes nourishment, abundance, and the return of life after winter. Butter and Milk: Dairy products represent fertility and prosperity. Enjoy fresh butter and milk as part of your Beltane feast. Goat Meat: In ancient times, a sacrificed lamb was often cooked over the Beltane bonfire. Goat meat can be a modern alternative, symbolizing abundance and sustenance. Honey and Sweet Foods: Beltane celebrates the sweetness of life and passion. Incorporate honey, sweet pastries, and desserts into your menu. Fresh Fruits and Vegetables: Beltane falls during a time when the earth is abundant with grain. Enjoy strawberries, asparagus, and other seasonal produce to honor the season. Mead: Mead, the ancient honey wine, is associated with Beltane’s joyful and passionate energy. Raise a toast to the turning of the wheel and the promise of warmer days.
Modern Celebrations:
Nature Walks: Embrace the beauty of spring by taking a walk in nature.
Goddess Rituals: Connect with the divine feminine energy.
Ancestor Honoring: Light a candle for passed ancestors and express gratitude.
Romantic Date Night: Celebrate love and passion with your partner.
Journaling: Reflect on what Beltane means to you.
Remember, Beltane is a time of renewal, passion, and growth. Whether you’re dancing around a fire or sipping lavender lemonade, let the magic of this season infuse your spirit. 🌸🔥✨

Review of Urban Magick by Diana Rajchel
Took me a while, but I finally finished Urban Magick! ✨
I give it about 3.5 ⭐ / 5 ⭐. Overall, it gave me a bit more hope for being a "witch" in a space that's not-so-nature-oriented. I always personally felt disconnected when folks would talk about being in nature, because I live in the dead-center of Dallas - and this book taught me that I don't necessarily have to be in nature to feel that magic around me, or have powerful tools at my fingertips.
That being said, there were a few outdated concepts in this book (there always seems to be in these Llewellyn publications), but it was a great foundational text that gave me a lot of inspiration and good ideas on how to participate more in my local neighborhood and overarching city.
If you live in a super dense city and want to feel more connected to your craft, and want to learn different ways to incorporate city elements into your craft, I definitely recommend this book! I also recommend this book if spirits, entitities, and thoughtforms are your thing. There is a LOT of speak about city spirits in this book, which is great for someone who's into that sort of thing (I'm personally not)!

Protection Candle – Safe Travels
My mom is going on a trip across the globe (literally), so I wanted to put together a candle for her to help keep her safe while she's on her journey. Continue reading to recreate this spell at home.
You'll need:
A white candle
Protection herbs (Salt, garlic powder, marjoram, Lavender, Spearmint, black pepper)
Something to carve into the candle
Protective crystals (Kunzite, Moonstone, Clear Quartz, Red Jasper, Pyrite, Tigers Eye, Black Amethyst)
Oil (You can use whatever you have on hand)
A plate to stand it on
Here's what I did:
Connect with my ancestors, guides, and deities that you work with. When connecting with my team, I greet them, thank them for their presence, and ask that they guide me through the process. I have an ancestor candle that I light whenever I'm doing anything craft-related since so much of my magick is fueled by my communication and connection with the Otherside. You can light whatever candles or set whatever protection you need. (Whatever works best for you and feels naturally to you!)
Layout the crystals that you plan on pulling energy from and thank them for their presence in the evening's work as well.
Carve the name of the target into the candle and any petitions. I wrote my mother's name, her legal name, and key phrases like "safe travels", "return home safely", "protection", etc. horizontally across the candle.
Dress the candle in oil and herbs. I apply the oil to the candle in a sweeping motion away from me (instead of toward me) because I want the energy I'm putting into the candle to reach the target. (She's far away geographically, so I'm sending this protection out to her.) If this candle is specifically for you, pull the oil toward you and dress it that way instead.
To make the candle to stand upright on a metal tray or some fire-safe thing, melt the bottom of the candle and let the wax drip onto the plate. Then you can just stick the candle on top and the dried wax will help keep it sturdy. Continue to add herbs and crystals for extra protection. I put a ring of garlic powder, salt, and lavender around the candle and said some words to my ancestors and patron deities, but you can use any protective herbs that work for you.
Thank all spirits and deities present for the evening (or whatever time you’re performing the spell) and the herbs and crystals for lending their energy. Anyone/anything that helped contribute to the spellwork should be thanked for their contribution.
Then you light the candle. Light the candle every day that they're away until it melts completely or until they return. Repeat the process if it burns out before they return.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
A note:
This spell, the process, and the ingredients used are what works for me. You can use whatever crystals, color of candle, herbs, etc. work best for you. If there are herbs, crystals, etc. that you have a deeper connection with, please feel free to use those rather than what I listed. Magick is so personal and the spells you create should be something you can connect with. This is just what works best for me.

//✨IT'S RICHARD'S BIRTHDAY TODAY!!!✨ (wahoooo! *throws confetti*) Happy birthday to my favourite, adorable, cinnamonroll of a clumsy son!
On top of this being Richard's birthday, it is also my blog's 8th anniversary, or at least 8 years since I've been writing for Richard! 8!!! Would you believe it!? I remember making Richard as nothing more than a sideblog 'cause I was losing mojo when it came to writing for my Charles Xavier RP blog. I remember thinking that I would most likely delete not only Richard, but quit Tumblr and the RPing community altogether. I'm so glad I proved myself wrong, because I not only got to explore Richard as a character, but mainly bc/ I got to meet, hang out, and just befriend SO many lovely, wonderful, and amazing human beans by sticking around. (Seriously, I'm amazed how I've known some of you for 8 years now like??? Richard and I were literally bbys when some of u met us lol). So, anyways, whether ur an old friend or a new one, I just wanted to say a million, BIG thank yous for EVERYTHING, and for putting up with me and my molasses writing/reply speed and lil’ gremlin energy and just for being such amazing mutuals, and for sticking with Richard and I through thick, thin, and everything in between *gives u all the biggest tackle hugs*💛🧡💛🧡//

🌒 Available Tarot Decks! 🌘
✨Here are the decks I currently have available for readings! If any of them call to you, please feel free to reach out to request a reading. ✨
You can find my prices here
If you're unable to get a reading, I hope you'll consider sharing this to spread the word! Thank you, and blessed be. 🌒🌕🌘 [IMAGE ID] (Four graphics, all a pale green in color, with a decorative teal border and a simple drawing of a leaf in the background.) First slide: Available Tarot Decks Second slide: (Two tarot decks, the first one is green with the image of a man wearing deer antlers and a red robe titled "The Robin Wood Tarot. The second one shows the image of a woman wearing a red gown, dancing around a glowing white symbol, titles "The Llewellyn Tarot")
The Robin Wood Tarot: This deck holds the energy of a caring mother, dealing out steady and grounded advice. It inspires courage and strength. It cannot connect to the divine but is rooted in the Earth element.
The Llewellyn Tarot: This deck is an advisor, and usually handles questions to do with spiritual, emotional, or material gain. It is a good judge of character and warns against which assumptions. Do not be afraid if it gets real with you. Cannot connect to the divine.
Third slide: (two more tarot deck. The first one is inspired by art nouveau, with a swirling, almost organic border. It depicts a woman dressed in a high necked teal dress, holding a gold book. It is titled, "Ethereal Visions: Illuminated Tarot Deck". The second deck shows geometric patterns of triangles and circles, with the sun and moon at the top, split down the middle, It's titled, "The Field Tarot") Ethereal Visions: This deck reflects your inner self back at you. It speaks kindly, but firmly. Listen with trust and an open mind; all the wisdom you seek is within yourself. You may not understand at first, but will come to in time. This deck holds a masculine energy, and can connect to the divine, but has never designated any specific deity. The Field Tarot: This deck deals in nostalgia and innocence, so it may often bring up the past when being consulted about the future. It encourages enjoying the beauty of life and believes heavily in self care. It loves big and difficult questions. This deck can connect to the goddess Aphrodite. Fourth slide: (Final two tarot decks. The first one shows the Eye of Horus on a backdrop of gold leafing, titled, "Tarot Nefertari". The second deck shows a woman with dark hair, dressed in white and adorned in gold jewelry, holding an Ankh aloft with one hand. It is titled, "Tarot of Sacred Feminine")
Tarot Nefertari: This deck is short and to the point. Listen with love and decisiveness as it reminds you that not all your plans are going to go right the first time around. It is here to protect you, almost like a bodyguard, and pick you back up when you fall. It can connect to the divine feminine energy of the earth, but has not named a specific deity.
Tarot of Sacred Feminine: This deck speaks with rationality and skepticism, almost like a seasoned warrior. It values independence, and begs you to listen with clarity and focus to its words. Can possibly connect to the goddess Nyx.
