Obviously, the Limited Life teams are all incredibly iconic, truly unforgettable, however, being one of the smaller Life Series, not everyone got to BE on them.

So, here's my personal take on what teams Lizzie, Gem, Ren, and Mumbo would be on if they had been in Limited Life. And we're ignoring the butterfly effect because this isn't an AU it's a thought experiment.

Lizzie: While I could absolutely see her on the Nosy Neighbors, she'd fit perfectly (and technically was on that team as Pearl), I have to pick the Bad Boys for Lizzie. Because you can't convince me that Lizzie wouldn't love going around with sunglasses and a leather jacket bullying everyone and telling them how Bad(TM) she is. She'd be amazing at that bit. Also, I just generally think Lizzie would just generally fit well on a team with Jimmy, Joel, and Grian. She adds to the comedy of that trio really well. (And 3rd of all, *insert that one Last Life clip*)

Gem: I think Gem would be on TIES. (GEIST, if you will.) She has a really good dynamic with all of the people on that team, also I think she'd have a good time bossing them around while also being a pretty great deterrent to any of their enemies. Also, I think she would absolutely bully Skizz about dying 3 times in the first episode and that would be really funny.

Ren: I know what you're thinking "Is Ren on Mean Gills?" NO- he'd be a CLOCKER. And he'd be a better father than Etho ever was!! Or Cleo ends up with a 3rd child, IDK. Ren would absolutely insert himself into this made-up family dynamic. Also, Ren kind of already looks like a Clocker. His Double Life skin especially is very similar to Scar's Limited Life skin.

Mumbo: Okay so I struggled with Mumbo. I considered the Bad Boys, but I'm not sure Mumbo could pull off that energy. I feel like he'd try, and then there'd be a funny clip of that. I also considered TIES, but again I don't super see it. So, I'm gonna go with the Nosy Neighbors, because I think Mumbo would enjoy the snooping. I think they'd be like "We should get spyglasses" and Mumbo's like "I think I know where to get those" and it turns out 'where to get those' is asking Jimmy to make one for him. Also, I want to see Mumbo's reaction to BigB because I feel like that would be hysterical and I don't think we've seen it before.

Gem knows that saving the camel gives her no advantage in the game.

Actually, the camel is an active risk.

People go after what you value most, after all. Cleo thought she had done it, when she burned Gem's barn and watchtower. Jimmy used Lizzie to kill Joel and blew up The Car in a previous attempt.

Caring for things, caring for people... it made you vunerable. Made you weak.

Gem wasn't weak. Far from it.

But she still went out of her way to save the camel.

Gem's Camel, she wrote in the nametag. Not someone else's, not something she had to share. Hers.

The camel nuzzled her with its snout, almost as if it knew that if she didn't name it, it would die. Like it was grateful she claimed it for herself.

"You saved it?" Joel asked, when Gem guided the camel into her barn. Not outside, in the pen like the cows. Inside, where Gem herself lived "Of all things, you saved a camel?"

"I find camels delightful, Joel." she petted its neck, golden fur soft to her touch.

"I thought you would hate them. You know. After..." Joel trailed off, gesturing vaguely.

Gem understood what he was trying to say. She should hate them after Pearl, after the 2v1.

"Tango called it the Murder Camel 2.0." She offered instead.

"Of course he did." Joel rolled his eyes "Rumor has it you and Pearl rode together again."

"She got on my camel. Against my will, Joel." Gem scoffed "Not my fault she is obssessed with me."

Joel raised an eyebrow at her.

"And Pearl wasn't even the first one to ride the camel with me. It was Etho." Gem looked back at her camel and scratched behind its ears.

"Yeah, well. Camels are pretty much a you two thing, no?"

"Me and Pearl don't have a thing!"

"You might have to tell Pearl that, then." Joel teased, turning his head to the general direction of the Gs base, in the opposite side of the map "She seems awfully insistent on getting everyone on a camel and showing off to you."

Gem scowls and refuses to say anything back.

The thing is, its easy to look everyone in the eyes and proclaim she hates Pearl. So, so easy.

Especially because it is easier than admiting the truth. Saying she hates Pearl is easier than saying she misses her. That Gem still loves her, even after everything.

And isn't that just the worst? Loving someone down to red when they would throw all you thought you had when there are eyes on you?

Gem's camel shakes her hand off it, grunting. She hadn't realized it then, but her nails had been digging into its fur.

Life Series In Your Style Challenge!

I did the challenge! These are all generic designs for everyone because in my head, they all have slightly different designs for each season.

Design Notes:

Grian: Purple eyes because Watcher and the colours of his wings represent the life series colours

Scar: His scars are meant to be explosion damage caused

Mumbo: Vampire, that’s it

Jimmy: Canary Jimmy!

Joel: I tried to make him look more ogre like (referencing his original skin being just Shrek) so teeth and ears

Scott: He’s an elf to reference his Empires Season 1 character because I like ESMP S1 a lot

Impulse: I like the design choice of giving him horns that quite a few fanartists do

Skizz: Pretty much just his skin design plus halo because I see a lot of people give him angel features?

Tango: Saw another post that pointed out the similarities between his skin and a Minecraft bee so bee antennae, he’s wearing a leather biker vest

Etho: I tried to make him look as dissimilar to Kakashi as possible, the hearts on his headband are the life series hearts

Bdubs: Pretty much just his skin design, not much to say there

Cleo: I tried to give her really big 80s hair

Martyn: Listener marking on his face to reference his CC self’s inclusion of EVO Lore in the Life series (also in my headcanon, Martyn is kind of a Listener himself but he’s not too aware of it) and Ren’s red colour in headband because they ally a lot

Ren: Martyn’s green in his hair tie to connect the two of them together more design wise

Lizzie: Hair buns are triangular to mimic cat ears and feather ears to link her to Jimmy (seablings and kind of canary curse)

BigB: It’s just his base Minecraft skin but in my mind his outfits changes a lot for each season

Gem: Deer motifs to parallel Pearl’s wolf motifs, also because deer are nimble and she is shown to be someone who is difficult to kill (there’s also some irony because she’s often “hunted” I guess by other players)

Pearl: Wolf motifs because she has an army of them (also to parallel Gem)

Your takes on c!Scott and flower husbands have honestly been so refreshing that its reignited my old Hot Takes on c!Jimmy bc I detest the way people characterize him.

I feel like so many people portray Jimmy as this dejected downtrodden victim of bullying, which feeds into a narrative that Scott was cruel and abusive and awful or whatever, and tends to act like Jimmy doesn't have any agency ever. But IN REALITY??? Jimmy is not downtrodden and dejected and sad!!!!! In my opinion, Jimmy's defining character trait is his unshakable TENACITY! Ppl never want to admit that Jimmy is a little shit! That he acts out of spite, that his friends' teasing only tends to motivate him!! He *thrives* in environments that challenge him! AND to be so for real, he is a grown man with agency and decision-making skills and I'm tired of people acting like he isn't.

In general I feel like people just have the wrong outlook on him as a character. Maybe they've just collectively misunderstood him, or a Helpless Miserable Victim is easier to write about in fic, or they just want to project their own bullying-related trauma onto him or whatever. (People do similar things to Scar when talking about desert duo, which I understand even less). IDK. These are just my thoughtssssss sorry for rambling :P

No because you’re literally so real for this. Jimmy is SUCH a little shit. His response to Joel being mad at Jimmy for trying to kill him was to SHAKE HIS ASS AT JOEL. He taunted Joel because Jimmy successfully used Lizzie to bait Joel out. He tried to guilt trip Scott into giving him time. These aren’t negative qualities. This is a guy being silly with his friends. Embrace them when writing c!Jimmy. These are wonderful and realistic qualities.

Jimmy’s tenacity is so remarkable. He gets knocked down and all of his friends tease him about it, and he stands right back up with pep in his step. A lot of people treat Pearl the same way. Like, guys, these people are adults who make their own choices, and, often times, people who are given free will are not going to make the responsible choice most of the time when there are no real world consequences to their actions other than maybe “I might not get to be in the finale of this Minecraft series”.

There is SO much favoritism in the Life Series. Jimmy and Pearl are always reduced to their greatest tragedies, while Scott and Cleo are reduced to their most selfish moments, even though everyone else is equally selfish because IT IS A DEATH GAME. IT IS A COMPETITION. THAT IS THE POINT.

A lot of Jimmy’s deaths tend to be his own doing. Whether he unnecessarily made an enemy or just wasn’t being careful, a lot of Jimmy’s deaths are his fault, and that’s fine. He likes to play into bits. He’s not that serious about winning as opposed to making fun content. Pearl has made her fair share of mistakes and enemies, and that adds plot and drama to her content. That’s how she plays it, and it’s fine! Don’t infantilize them for dealing with the consequences of their actions just like everybody else!

Scott was widowed, and he had to watch his allies die before he did for seasons. Nobody ever comforts him about it. Nobody says “oh this man is so sad he’s just doing his best but he can’t keep his friends alive and it’s eating him up and everyone should baby him”.

Nobody even calls Joel toxic for constantly targeting Scott, but somehow Scott is toxic for teasing Jimmy now and then? (Which is not to say that Joel is toxic. He just finds it fun to target his good friend and knows where Scott’s limits are. It’s actually a sign of how close they are in real life). Nobody calls Etho and Bdubs toxic for being so mean to each other. Nobody calls Impulse manipulative when his whole thing in Third Life was betraying people. Nobody says Ren is controlling for taking the lead in Dogwarts or calling the Renwood Mound the Ren Mound. Scar is a liar and a scammer and no one thinks less of him for it.

Do you wanna know why? Because they’re friends having fun. Scott and Scott’s character should be treated with that same respect given to everyone else. Also, people need to keep in mind that Scott is not actively playing a character. Scott is just playing the game the way that cc!Scott wants to play the game, so any in depth analysis of Scott’s “character”? That’s an over analysis of cc!Scott in a competitive environment, and that man is literally on this site, people. He knows about Gaslight, Gatekeep, Girlboss, Girldad. I’ve seen him reply to analysis posts on why Scott is manipulative. He’s literally just a guy playing a game for fun.

Imagine if someone accused you of playing an evil and selfish character because you asked your friend to give you the monopoly money they owe you. Or, worse imagine if someone accused you of playing a manipulative character because you let your friend land on your monopoly property without paying you????? Because you love your friend??????? Like, excuse me????????

the hermits have various ways to see (or not see) what presents they're getting; ex.

Bdubs totally refuses to even see his presents once they're wrapped let alone shake them, and just in general wants to leave it a surprise, but then immediately regrets his decision within at max 2 days then stares at people with his big eyes and begs them to tell him what they gave him

Grian already knows where most people hide their presents for other people from his habit of sneaking around to set up pranks, and thus knows what everyone on the server (including himself) are getting for Christmas (when he doesn't act surprised after opening them he just says "santas elves told me")

Scar, whenever any getting of presents are mentioned, he says "I thought Santa delivered the presents?" In the most innocent voice ever to the point no one knows whether he like, actually, believes in Santa Claus or is just making it up (in secret he begs grian to tell him what his presents are but grian refuses to say a single word)

Pearl keeps getting caught trying to check what her presents are but tries to get out of it by saying she's a Christmas elf and was just doing quality control

Gem has a elf on the shelf (multiple, in fact, some would even say too many) that she protects with her life against anyone who comes even close to touching it- which she did at first for fun but is starting to think the elves will actually "lose their magic" since pearl keeps moving them while she's asleep

Skizz might actually still believe in Santa Claus- nobody really knows

Cleo once gifted every single hermit an elf on the shelf that looks exactly like them- down to every last hair. Only problem is, the two newest hermits, skizz and joel, never got one, yet one has mysteriously appeared in their bases that cleo swears on their undead life she didn't make

Joel tells people he's too old for Santa Claus yet still writes letters anyways (not really because he believes in Santa, more for the fun of it) (Lizzie always offers to send them for him, so she can read them on the way and know what he wants for Christmas)

I’ve recently rewatched dl and I wanted to find out if you had any thoughts on Pearl and Scott’s dynamic.. (double life or general idm)

BOY DO I. SIT DOWN

I've talked lots about Scott before, of how he twists the narrative the most and treats most relationships more as transactional. I will now immediately follow that sentence up with dear god please don't assume I hate Scott he's so interesting and compelling PLEASE don't think I hate him I beg of you I LIKE HIM I don't think he's evil and a villain he's just a bit fucked up like everyone else PLEASE just. believe me

Anyway now that that's out of the way. Scott I think has an innate need for connection but denies it in favor of weaving his own narrative that he is in control of, especially so in Third Life where to me, it feels like he sought out to find a tragic love story and he got exactly that, from his perspective anyway, what with the final sequence of him meeting Jimmy again in some imagined afterlife, the one part that was scripted and it shows. Love is a variable that he can't afford the risk of. I think the story with Jimmy that he weaved was more important to him than genuine affection. In Double Life he admits to having whittled Jimmy down to nothing in order to get something from him. But then along comes Last Life

In Last Life, whatever it was, something about Pearl really appealed to him if even subconsciously and he very genuinely cared about her imo. And that was a relationship that oddly enough started as purely transactional yet quickly developed into the most meaningful one I think Scott has had. Even when he faltered in returning Pearl's affection fully, Pearl didn't care and stood by him. Well exemplified by the time he kind of froze when Pearl was boogey killed by Lizzie, but Pearl didn't even think to hold his inaction against him. (Especially fun contrasted with Pearl accidentally breaking the rules in killing boogey Joel for killing Scott lol)

But all of that was the variable that Scott sought to avoid, so in Double Life he immediately uses what he can as an excuse to ostracize Pearl, almost as if to punish her for the crime of. loving? And I'm not about to claim that Pearl is wholly innocent but I'd argue that was unwarranted. Cleo and Scott are a great dynamic in a vacuum but unfortunately Cleo is also quite terrible (but then who isn't. It's a death game, they all are. Sorry I have to keep making these remarks because otherwise I get labelled a hater) and unfortunately fuels all the worst traits in Scott while Scott very readily sticks to her. They remain an encouraging pillar to Scott, it's just that the things being encouraged are like. Their ritual to slice each other with axes at full force just to stick it to Martyn and Pearl. Pearl often gets compared to Scott as equally physically harmful but idk personally I don't think the snow bucket compares to start-of-every-session-near-death-axe-crit routine. That's again not to say that she's innocent

Upon Scott spreading completely unfounded claims about her being crazy and malicious, she starts to adopt those claims. What else is she to do to get by? She has been nice to most players and nearly none of them want her around because of rumors despite her causing harm on accident at worst. She comes close to finally finding friends in Jimmy (Tango as well but mostly Jimmy), but ruins her chances by briefly playing into Martyn's "prank" and giving him Jimmy's horn without realizing it's importance to Jimmy, after which Jimmy tells her that she's no longer welcome on the ranch. She's effectively lost everyone and it is 90% due to Scott, not due to her actually acting the way she's claimed to as she only starts to go down that path after repeated rejection (sure she let herself be physically hurt to get at Scott, but it wasn't because of malice or having lost her mind, her doing so was reasonable anyhow but got twisted into something it wasn't. It's still wrong on her part and I do think she goes at least a bit insane as Scarlet Pearl surfaces, but the point is that she wasn't that when Scott started painting her that way)

Even in the very end, Scott retains control. He retained control of not only his narrative but contributed to most others' as well, painting Pearl as the exact character he wanted her to be known as in every POV outside of her own. And as they stand face to face as the last two survivors, Scott denies her any chance to change things, taking his own life instead whilst painting himself as noble in doing so

Scott is incredibly self-sacrificial but only when he gets something out of it, and because it allows him yet more control. He wants to be able to control when he dies, and he also gets to turn it into utmost grandiose statements of nobleness when he does, which then changes others' perception of him accordingly and directly or indirectly allows Scott to get something in exchange. His suicide in DL is no different, it was for him, not for Pearl

In Secret Life Scott also instils the idea of Pearl being untrustworthy in Gem

Wild Life. grrrr. Wild Life.............clenches fist. Pearl's personal hell

I think you can infer I was. scared to say the least about Pearl upon seeing her alliance in Wild Life. In the end though I ended up just being immensely sad and disappointed. Just about nothing worked out for Pearl, only for her trauma to be mocked repeatedly by Scott and Cleo

Pearl imo shows so many signs of regression, and she holds onto Impulse as the one member of her team that isn't actively taunting her, making it a goal for herself to see Impulse win, and it is that: for her, for anything to go her way, not so much for Impulse as much as she does genuinely care for him. She really doesn't spend that much time with him, she just needs a goal to work towards for her own sake. Pearl being unstable, untrustworthy and especially pathetic are all things that continue to get enforced within the alliance, where she's often spoken to like a ticking time bomb and the team's destructiveness gets relegated to her specifically. She recognizes not feeling good about it but she doesn't recognize everything that's at play in the social dynamics of their alliance or the extent of it

She becomes scared of people becoming resentful of her were she to make mistakes all the while Scott and Cleo start enabling her worst tendencies, aka Scarlet Pearl. They don't do this a large degree but they do make an explicit point of it, or at least Cleo does. Cleo is also however, if even vaguely, trying to mend the relationship between her and Pearl, where they occasionally encourage and defend her although it's not to a significant enough degree for Pearl to really realize. After Gem's death, Cleo is also there to help although Pearl is too distraught to appreciate it

While Gem's largely the catalyst for the "pathetic" notion that Pearl adopts to her detriment over the course of Wild Life, it only affects Pearl as strongly as it does due to her having gone through what she has, and because she's in a largely unloving alliance that fuels and reminds her of her wrongdoing. Just compare her mental state here to the one in Secret Life with the Mounders. Although it does have importance to her because she seeks reconciliation, she isn't allowed to forget about Double Life, she's not allowed to heal and grow around the grief of what's happened to her

And the final two notable incidents in her and Scott's relationship are 1. Her being made to feel like she needs to kill Scott, which she doesn't and ends up picking her own method of killing him to retain any semblance of choice, and 2. best summarized by my friend's Pearl POV analysis: "Scott is wearing my clothes. instead of villainizing me, our “reconciliation” has encouraged him to embrace the qualities he thinks I represent. he matches me, and we don’t talk about our past"

I state again that I like Scott, I like Cleo, I don't think they're evil or villains, at the very least in no cut-and-dry way. They're flawed and compelling and although I feel sad for Pearl and see Scott as largely at fault for what's happened to her, I care about Scott too and he's easily in the top 5 of most intricate Life characters to me that I enjoy dissecting

You know like. enjoying any character in any other fandom that is morally reprehensible in any way. I don't know why that's such a wild concept in traffic but sigh. I have to disclaim this unfortunately

Sorry guys. I'm ranting about Joel again because djskakaka that's my favorite guy. This post is a direct result of the tags in a post I reblogged and I just HAD TO TALK ABOUT IT MORE.

Okay, so Joel always carries himself to high regard. He has lots of confidence in himself, is generally apathetic and dry to any matter that doesn't concern him, and he overall loves to bite back at things. He's a big fan of chaos and violence, and stays generally bitter when things go badly for him. He can be ruthless and reckless and that's just natural for him because he's one of the many Life Series wolf-coded characters.

But something about Joel in Secret Life is just...kind? He's kind and caring, in his Joel Smallishbeans way. Especially in later sessions.

In Etho's little remembering the past era, he reassures him that he does still care for him. When Lizzie invites everyone to her party in a rushed frenzy, he attends because he thinks it's only fair. When Pearl was apprehensive about her task being guessed, he purposefully wastes his guess so she doesn't have to be worried around him. He trusts Jimmy to assist him with his task even while everyone else is cautious about his red name status. And when it all came down to it, Joel tells Martyn to stay back after all the reds have dropped like flies because even if all the reds were a threat to them, he still didn't want to see them all die in one episode.

In Secret Life, Joel still has everything he's always had. He's still bloodthirsty and holds silly grudges, evident with the whole Scott thing this session. He's still cheeky and likes to mess around and make sarcastic comments often, but at the end of the day he's Joel. He tends to stay loyal to his allies and I think he's more thoughtful than lots of people realize.

This may be part of the reason I love the Mounders. They were all sort of distant in the way they would wander off and do their own thing, but when it came down to it, they always stuck by each other. They remained loyal despite what seemed to be really loose ends tying them all together, and that means SO much to me! I guess it makes sense though; a team with the lonely wolf girl from Double Life and the lonely wolf boy from Last Life were enough to neutralize the whole, "Bdubs can be kinda disloyal" thing and the whole "Mumbo was apprehensive of any color lesser than he was" thing.

Anyways. Life Series Joel Smallishbeans. That's my guy bro...THAT'S MY GUYYYYYY

Their post about Joel's comment to Martyn reminded me how much that scene made me orbit around the moon so I thought they deserved to mentioned in this. Obviously I can't be sure that AdieCraft is going to join Hermitcraft--nor can I even be 100% sure if Skizz, enough though I feel like there is strong evidence toward him joining. But as a general warning to everyone, do not get Too set on anyone in particular you like joining. I know tons of people want Joel, Lizzie, Fwhip, Jimmy, Marytn, Hbomb, etc and other large creators that are already closely associated with hermits. I have seen tons of theorization and speculation on them, they're definitely the most popular choices. But be prepared for that not happening, and be prepared to hype someone else up even if they're a small CC you've never heard of.

Everybody on my AdieCraft theory post from earlier has been nothing but nice about the possibility of him joining ofc, I just have a vague sense of worry when I see just how Sure some people on here are about other CCs. I just want people to be ready for the possibility they're wrong and ready to accept whoever the lucky person is! AKA feel free to theorize whoever you want but avoid getting your hopes up so much that you'll be disappointed or upset if the person you wanted doesn't join. That way we can welcome everyone <3

Notes on Scott’s Wild Life 3 POV

In summary: our gaslight king controlling the narrative as usual, what an icon.

Scott has very economical editing, having one of the shorter POVs, yet takes care to include several instances of being nice to Pearl (noticed this when he left in giving Pearl food, both at the beginning and when they were building the new castle together). However, he left out the session routine of chastising Impulse and Pearl for picking fights with Gem/Joel (seen in Pearl’s POV), only including warning a freshly yellow Pearl to not try to kill them.

Scott doesn’t die this episode. Notably, his main contributions to base building are simply moving materials from one chest to the other — a very safe activity when being pursued by a snail. Gem and Joel who also avoided snail death built in a wide open area, and the other no-snail-deaths generally forgoed building and dangerous activity altogether (although, RIP Lizzie for surviving mining only to be Skizz’d). All this to say: Scott wasn’t playing sweaty, he still took risks, but they were very small and calculated.

Scott doesn’t include a lot of the Spanners antagonizing GGGG. Partly because they failed and it’s not very interesting to just see Scott looking at the dirt for Mumbo and Grian digging, or warily watching Skizz from 15 blocks sway. But I also think he’s building a villain narrative for Pearl and Impulse and having other groups wrong GGGG would upset that balance. Though, this point is my most tinfoil hat theory.

Scott, Cleo, and Impulse half-heartedly warn Etho of an approaching creeper, sort of totally 100% causing his death. They all celebrate, Cleo and Impulse both breaking into delighted cackles, however Scott calls Impulse out on taking more glee from Etho’s death than the other two. He’s taking care to point out any villainous behavior in Impulse/Pearl, justifying his own negative behavior towards them and painting himself as a long suffering yet loyal teammate. He does this every season, and I eat it up every time — although he’s particularly negative towards Imp and Pearl compared to, say, Martyn.

Related, Scott is stressing how put together and connected GGGG is. He’s complimenting all of them and turning to the camera to gloat about how they’re not gonna fall apart. This session didn’t leave a lot of room for Impulse and Pearl to prove him wrong, but even then he’s doing the prep work to make it their fault if/when the divorce happens. This is made easier by his reputation as a good and loyal teammate combined with Impulse’s and especially Pearl’s fandom reputation as instigators. (And to an extent, yes, they are both consciously approaching WL with a “cause problems on purpose” mission.)

But I can’t ignore every time Scott badmouths their decisions to other people and denounces their actions as suspicious/villainous. That sort of behavior only makes him look better instead of strengthening his whole team: if he really believed in GGGG, he’d be lying on their behalf and definitely not calling them out for picking fights. Just as Cleo didn’t back up Pearl when she tried to poison Gem, Scott is actively making his teammates look worse. And I fear he might get away with it.

I love Smajor and watch his perspective as a fan! I think he intentionally plays “the social game” like this: partly to make it more interesting, and partly because he enjoys the chaos. And really, who doesn’t?

So I keep thinking about the Life Series Members as TMA Avatars idea that I had and I now have character design concepts. Slight update that Scar is now dual wielding. Also, shout-out to the person who said Gem could also be web aligned, because of this, she is now corruption aligned but themed around silverfish because they also make webs.

Bdubs - Dark

Fully avatar. Looks a bit like a phantom. Whenever it's dark, he can completely blend in and suddenly appear from the shadows. His whole thing is feeding off people who are late. Missed your last train home? Late night at work and finally heading home? God forbid you miss your bedtime. He will be there, don't keep him waiting, you're late enough already.

BigB -Spiral

Half avatar. Looks the same but it's really hard to read his expression. Small details change, like his eye colour or his facial hair. Wasn't that pocket on the other side? His whole thing is being generally unerving and instilling a sense in you that something is wrong. Even if nothing has changed, it certainly feels like it.

Cleo - Flesh

Full avatar. Her design is already perfect, no notes. I saw that one post that's like "an illegal organ dealer holding up a pair of lungs to see if they fit" and that's very much the vibe. In this au, she's not just got multiple parts because she needs to, she wants them. Who needs to paint their nails when they can just change the hand they have? I also think she has too many limbs like I already said. Every time you see her, they have a different number of limbs.

Etho - Stranger

Full avatar but kind of chill about it. Think like Simon Fairchild and Mike Crew. He looks normal, but his mask doesn't move when he speaks, is there even a mouth under there. He seems to never blink either. Basically a weird mechanical being, mind of like Nikola, but a bit more chill about it. Don't call him creepy, he's just Canadian :(

Gem - Corruption

Goes from new to full avatar over the course of Secret Life. I went into detail over her design in my original post, basically what I already said. She just gets more overgrown over the course of Secret Life. She targets those who've hurt her allies. You hurt the hive, now the queen comes to you.

Grian - Eye

Full avatar. Basically the same watcher design normally done. The more eldritch the better. Very much just a purple Jon. He does his usual shit of observing the suffering of the games.

Impulse - End

New avatar. He is not aware of the situation he's stuck in being forced to get to close to winning. As he's a new avatar, he's basically just normal. I do think that his general aura really makes people want to stab him in a back. He's just so stabible.

Jimmy - End

Half avatar. He's on his way to becoming a full avatar, just not quite got control of the curse. He has the canary wings, but kind of rotting and skeletal as the canary has already died. They get worse over time as he dies more and more. He has slowly grown more skeletal and corpse-like in general. It's almost like the damage he sustains stays through death.

Joel - Desolation

Full avatar. He's chill until near the end of the season where he suddenly gets this manic look and just sort of snaps. He doesn't melt like Jude does, but is charred in places where he's also caught ablaze. He doesn't have a specific target, it's just everyone but only near the end of the series.

Lizzie - Buried

New avatar. She doesn't seem to realise where all the dirt is coming from, someone keeps traipsing mud into the house and it's definitely not her! No way she would have muddy boots inside. As well as that, every time she looks at the stars, her throat seems to catch. Joel is sick of the ever growing donations he keeps getting of his wife's remains, there's only so many urns he can hold. To be fair, he's pretty sure Scar just sold him gravel.

Martyn - Hunt

Half in 3rd Life but full avatar by Limited Life. He's like how Martin in tma could have become an eye or web avatar but instead became a lonely avatar. Martyn could have become a slaughter avatar with Ren or an eye avatar. They end of Limited Life is him becoming a full avatar. He's stuck with a ring cuts round his head constantly dripping into his eyes, weirdly in the same shape the coral sat. He also has red marks on his hands from wielding an axe in 3rd Life. He mainly goes for those who want to break the system. There is only one way out, and it's through blood.

Mumbo - Web

New avatar. Has no idea he's an avatar or what they even are. Everyone else assumes he knows. He keeps finding cobwebs in his hair, it's getting concerning. What do you mean he's greying? Why do the lighter hairs in his mustache feel like a different material? Eventually, he gains a set of eyes and doesn't notice for a ridiculously long time before he has to get his reading glasses for working with redstone. The web will do with him what it desires, and the Mother of Puppets wishes to see the blorbo struggle.

Pearl - Hunt/Lonely

Half avatar. She not fully committed to either fear so is like a half avatar in both. She seems to exude fog like Martin but in a way that makes her more obvious, like a dark silhouette against a grey background. As well as that, her red eyes and they dozen or so dogs' eyes can be seen so clearly, almost as if there are no clouds at all. Tilly is the name of the form she takes like Daisy does. She targets those who have isolated her. She is not to be ignored any longer.

Ren - Slaughter

Half avatar. He's done the opposite of Martyn and is trying to force himself away from the mantle of Red King. Kind of how Jon tries to stop feeding the eye, Ren tries to be more peaceful and doesn't even partake in some games. Regardless, the call of blood is too strong. He looks normal most of the time, but, when things go south, his neck starts leaking a deep crimson. The canine features grow and so does the accent. Ren can try to stop it all he wants, but the Red Winter is coming.

Scar - Web/Lonely

Full avatar. Scar is a full avatar with both fears. He has been full web the entire time but only because fullomelu after double life. He has the appearance of a straveling salesman someone always having just what you require. You have to be in his good books, you don't know why, but you must. In this au, he has a wheelchair with seemingly infinite storage. Regardless of what you say, he's "got just the right thing" as he reaches into another pocket. There are 8 spokes on each wheel, each spoke weirdly hairy and almost segmented? Regardless, he has what you need, so you pay up, issue is, by the time you put your wallet away, all that's left is some fog.

Scott - Vast

Half avatar. The vast has been trying real hard to transform him, but he just won't go. He keeps walking up to the edges of cliffs or the shore, looking out wistfully into the expanse, before going "nah" and walking away. It's almost like he's taunting his patron. He likes to keep to cramped spaces, just to spite them. Regardless, he seems to stare at the night sky, almost like he's looking for something, or waiting.

Skizz - Lonely

New avatar. Skizz? An avatar of the lonely? But he's got loads of pals. How could he be lonely? He's useful to everyone, he serves his purpose, they don't grieve because he wouldn't want that, right? He's an absolute angel. His design is still angelic, but with gold tear tracks down his face. He's unwilling to admit that being treated as expendable has gotten to him. It's fine, the fog of death is calm, it doesn't ask anything of him, it's... Peaceful.

Tango - Desolation

Full avatar. Not much changes from his design. The usual fire hair that gets stronger with the anger. He fully transformed in Last Life when Bdubs killed him. Up until then, the hair was just regular hair, but that death changed him. He's not immune to the fire. The more he burns, the more how almost looks like a roast marshmallow but I'm a creepy way. He's charged and melting and angry. So so angry. If you take something from him, he will take everything from you.

Joel doesn't like Scott because Scott is Mr. Optimistic

Even though his powers are subdued, Tango has extremely quick reflexes

Scar avoids any physical touch with Pearl or any other patients

Grian wakes up Gem before the scientists do to avoid her getting hurt

Etho is weirdly cold, a side effect of being part snow fox, so Joel gives him all the blankets

Skizz, in zombie form, recognizes impulse, but can't act upon it

Impulse's comfort person is Bdubs, but he is rarely brought in

Both Scott and Grian have an odd ability to sense Jimmy when he is invisible

If a comfort person is unavailable, they bring in Lizzie to threaten/calm down a patient

Jimmy has severe monophobia and Lizzie tries her best to help him

1.) Interesting take. Scott is absolutely not optimistic thought, haha. I think Joel might actually be one of the most optimistic subjects? He’s at least one of the most determined ones.

2.) Oooooh, maybe that could be canon. Maybe he really is just that fast. I’ll consider it. I know he’s still pretty hungry all the time despite the collar and cuffs.

so i've just finished watching all the first episodes, so i wanted to give my thoughts on the first Wild Life session:

-so much fun i love it so much. i'm so glad they're all still having fun and continuing the series, and that Mumbo and Lizzie came back, despite dying early in Secret Life (i was a tiny bit worried they might get a bit dejected and pass on this one). also thrilled Ren is able to play this time; he's a blast

-there is a lot of mistrust going around which is very curious to me. most of it stems from previous seasons and has no bearing on what was happening at the time. Pearl straight up telling Cleo she expected her to betray her; Mumbo and Skizz not trusting Martyn, and then Grian; and then not trusting that Martyn just wanted to use their enchanter; the huge immediate aggression towards Scar when he came out of the mountain into Grian, Skizz and Mumbo's base; Mumbo not trusting Skizz (his teammate!) when he asked for someone to pass him a diamond; Scott, Cleo, Pearl and Impulse assuming Joel stole their cows, probably more i'm forgetting. it's definitely obvious to me that these people have learnt how the games work and learnt from the pain (as we do). i'm very curious to see if the general server mistrust grows, and the impact it has on everyone and the people

-i love JImmy, Big B, Lizzie and Ren forming a dnd party and Ren (in true bardic fashion) has a guitar within reach and is willing to break into song at the first campsite (this honestly might be my favourite moment from all the life series at the moment. the guitar within reach, Ren's beautiful voice, how much the others thought it was great. fantastic vibes all around)

-i really want Scar and Martyn to team up. they are both instantly mistrusted, to the point that both of them (in their first episodes, no less) expressed that if people are going to treat them like a villain, then they may as well act like it. if the two of them team up to take revenge on everyone being mean to them in a new series i think they would be a force to be reckoned with

-Skizz and Mumbo is a fantastic team-up. both very genuine people who are so funny together

-i hope they get the lag fixed, or that it was just from the size-changing mod and they don't have to deal with it for the rest of the series

-Gem and Joel's partnership - in the early days Gem is going to be a fantastic counterbalance for Joel; help keep him calmer and curb his wild ideas. But once Gem gives in to her own urges... oh boy

-does Big B know that he can go caving with people? cause he seemed to be under the impression that he had to get geared out before he could make friends and it would suck if he ended up alone all the time because it hasn't occurred to him that he can go caving with people right at the start

-double life thought: i know most people count Pearl as the winner, but did Scott technically win as well? cause they were the last pair alive, and died in the same tick. it probably doesn't matter at all, but i wonder about it sometimes (especially in how it would affect Martyn's lore but that's not canon)

-i don't think Jimmy has broken the canary curse. i subscribe to the theory that cause Lizzie died in the End, the Watchers weren't able to perceive it and then he was the first to die in the Overworld (i'm not counting Real Life as canon; it happened and i enjoyed it but it wasn't a full series and they were deliberately playing it silly as an april fool's joke. very glad that Cleo won though. hope they get a full series win as well)

-i'm glad that Tango and Skizz (deliberately) didn't team together, but i kinda wish Tango had ended up in a different group. him, Etho and Bdubs are fun, don't get me wrong, but a whole lot of the fun of the series is seeing people interact and work with people they don't usually. Tango and Jimmy was a top tier pairing in Double Life, and Tango is hilarious. i would love to see him branch out more and work with some more people

-there is more than just the wild card. Grian said he wasn't going to explain it, and i didn't notice anything else happening (but i'm also not expecting it to be much until they get to the late game). i think that there will be a wild card that affects the players, and then also something that affects the world? we'll see, i guess

-now that everyone who has played is playing (i'm pretty sure? if i've forgotten someone i'm gonna be sad) who is gonna sub in if needed?

-i love Mumbo's "that was sub-one intelligence mate" when they all fell 🤣

-i'm not sure what the purpose of including the creakings or whatever they're called? nevermind i just looked it up and they're going to be in the game at some point. weird. i'm not sure how i feel about creakings coming to minecraft though

-very glad they've got six lives this time. it will both allow them to not worry so much about mistakes and accidents (as evidenced by Pearl) and encourage them to take risks, which will be fantastic

My fake life series teams that no one wants to hear about but I’m posting about anyway

BigDoubleBs: (Bdubs, BigB)

They theme themselves entirely around the letter B. Their logo is a backwards B next to a regular B. They go around spreading lies and rumours and cause general confusion amongst all their peers. The B stands for Bullshit but they can’t explicitly say it and it gets censored multiple times. Bdubs is mostly just matching BigB’s casual chaotic energy but he’s not-so-secretly super stressed out all the time. BigB is oblivious to this and continues to unknowingly make Bdubs’ life hell. Bdubs is consistently loyal but every time he is left alone with someone who isn’t BigB he breaks down. People keep pointing out that he could just leave BigB but Bdubs is vehemently against this. BigB could not care less whether he stays or goes but is glad for the company.

GUESS AKA GESS: (Gem, Etho, Skizz, Scar)

A desperate attempt to make the team name an acronym (at Skizz’s request) themes them all around quiz masters. Everyone changes their skin to have a mask (except Etho) with a different comedy/tragedy-esque face on it. Several names are tried before they land on GESS (Gem immediately shot-down SEGS and EGSS). They run out of questions to ask very fast and Gem is the only competent member of their team because Etho makes it his personal mission to antagonise Skizz and Scar for no reason at all. Etho convinces Scar to kill Skizz and break his heart, Gem kills Etho for being annoying. (fun fact I wrote this one before the trivia bot episode lmaooo)

Team LIT: (Lizzie, Impulse, Tango)

They go all-out on the party theme, throw several parties (most of which end horrifically (“why do we keep coming back to these?! they never go well!” -Grian, probably)) and Lizzie claims to have trauma from her failed secret life party. Joel attends every party and doesn’t die at any of them. Impulse and Tango try to redstone their way into murdering people during the parties - they do, but they also murder themselves and Lizzie several times. They are consistently pathetic for most of the season, except Tango and Lizzie get eliminated very early on and Impulse snaps, kills so many people as a red and wins the season.

The Gentlemen: (Scott, Mumbo, Joel, Jimmy)

These four find themselves hanging out on the first session and make a bit of themselves doing posh English accents, which turns into a season-long ordeal. They all change into suits (except Mumbo who is already wearing a suit) and hate team LIT with a burning passion because they are “uncouth savages”. At some point it turns into Scott, Joel, and Mumbo all fighting over Jimmy’s attention. Mumbo doesn’t exactly know why they’re fighting over Jimmy but he’s too deep in the “yes, and” to back out now. Joel and Scott very amicably hate each other and keep making passive-aggressive jibes at each other. Jimmy quite honestly just enjoys the attention.

Nightstalkers: (Pearl, Martyn, Grian)

They keep to the shadows. They become one with the night. All three of them are shockingly good at sneaking and become thieves/ninjas. Martyn does a Batman voice until he can’t stand to do it anymore. Pearl just likes to giggle behind people. Grian mostly just likes to mess with Jimmy and Scar. The three of them start to do black market trading. They try to be allies with everyone but by the end of the season everyone kind of hates them. Grian is once again the last of his teammates standing.

God Help Us: (Cleo, Ren)

Cleo defends Ren from a horde of zombies night one and naturally Ren declares them bonded for life (“or at least until the season ends, I guess”). Ren feels he is indebted to Cleo and spends the whole season throwing himself in front of them as a meat shield. He dies first. Cleo joins up with the Nightstalkers. Everyone offers condolences to Cleo even before Ren dies because they spend the season just Going Through It. Murphy’s Law slaps Cleo in the face so hard. She, Tango, and Impulse spend almost an entire episode crying to each other about the fact that things are just Not Good.

Skizz and Grian had fallen asleep for the night. The small hallways within the bridges were where they slept. It was easy to sneak out, his to friends slept heavy, and nothing could wake them up. Which Mumbo started to think, in a place like this, was a really bad thing. Literally, anyone could come and try to kill them their sleep, and they probably wouldn't even wake up to fight.

Jimmy's attempt to escape the mountain, though, was much more difficult, Lizzie had sleeping problems, insomnia they thought, it didn't usually matter much, she knew where he was going. They never talked about it, but she knew. She also often snuck off to see Joel in the night, but she was less obvious about it. The only one who didn't know was Scar, who was generally oblivious.

They met up inside a small cave entrance pretty far away from where anyone could find them. It was near BigBs base, but they were sure that he wouldn't come looking out here. They felt they could be themselves with each other here. It wasn't a death game when they were together, It didn't matter. They made a pact or more like a promise not to kill eachother, no matter what. They knew in the end, they'd never win anyways.

"Jim, it's so good to see you," Mumbo pauses, "it's been a long day." Today's wildcard had really been something. Mumbo wrapped Jimmy into his arms. It was cold outside, and they hadn't gotten the chance to talk in a while. Mumbo was only slightly taller than Jimmy, and he tended to his rest his head on his shoulder. His mustache tickled his neck a little bit, and he leaned into Mumbo, placing a hand in his hair.

"I've missed you, Mumbo." He pulls back to look at him, "To bad, we don't get to see each other more often. Although, if anyone knew about this, especially people other than our teammates, they'd use it against us. You know that." Jimmy sighed, "and I can't die this time." He was determined, Mumbo would give him that, but he knew it was obsolete, Jimmy was not good at surviving. It wasn't his strong suit. His strong suit, Mumbo thought, was simply just being him. Silly, thoughtless Jimmy. Now that he thought about it, surviving wasn't really his strong suit either. He was smart but not in that way. Besides, he'd probably die to his own hand anyway. For now, though, he'd like to keep Jimmy in his grasp.

He didn't want to think about everything that could happen. Instead, he wanted to focus on the here and now. He slid down the wall, Jimmy falling with him. There was something so gently sweet about this here.

They were sat on the cold hard floor of a cave, embracing each other, and that was, okay, for now. Mumbo placed his chin atop of Jimmy's head lightly. "I'm gonna miss this." Mumbo whispered.

"Me too." Jimmy whispered back, closing his eyes, trying to imagine a world where this wasn't it. It's was impossible. All they knew was this world. Maybe that was okay. Maybe this was all they needed.
