I am normally on the side of all animals deserve to exist and have a roll to play in the ecosystem and you shouldn’t hate on wasps and mosquitos and other bugs and whatnot.

But I hate ticks so much and would eradicate them if I could. I don’t care if the world’s ecosystem would collapse. I hate them.

I hate that they bite you and latch on and stay there and suck your blood and give you diseases I hate that they are everywhere I hate that I walked through the garden for not even 5 minutes and got a tick on my pants I hate that spraying only does so much I hate that I have to check myself for them after I go out anytime that isn’t the dead of winter I hate that once they’re embedded you have to use a special tool or rip them out I just hate them.

#I understand that I live in a very tick infested area #that also has a high rate of Lyme disease #and that does make it worse #but it shouldn’t be this bad #it’s also unironically a reason I would move now #and places I would be willing to move are influences by tick and tick diesease maps

folks, I think I might have Lyme disease

#had a tick bite a while ago and I thought I yoinked that sucker off before it was on me long enough to transmit anything #but now I'm achy and headachy with a 102 degree fever and joint pain #didn't see a rash but sometimes you don't get one #anyway it's doxycycline for me in the morning ig #I managed to avoid it for 21 years so I guess this is just nature collecting its dues at this point #the agonies of living in the Lyme Disease Capitol of America (TM)

#marzi speaks #i know it’s their literal job but my life was saved this week. by nurses #i was septic. i genuinely could have died. but they saved my life and now i’m starting to feel like myself again for the first time in weeks #and i’m like. gonna be okay #we still don’t know what got me. if it was west nile or lyme or something autoimmune or what #but some of the nurses have gone through testing of their own or have autoimmune diseases of their own #and they’ve been assuring me and my family that no matter what it is that got me i’m gonna be okay. and whatever i have is treatable #and i’m just so relieved #the pneumonia’s improving a lot too #thank you broad-spectrum antibiotics. even if u are stripping my microbiome clean i enjoy having the ability to breathe comfortably #or. much more comfortably. not quite done yet #still. nurses work so so so hard and do so so so much for us and god it isn’t easy #and i’m lucky to be in a good location with good hospitals #but all of these people have been united in wanting to save peoples’ lives for a living #that is so compassionate and so commendable. these people need raises and less grueling hours

sending laser beams to my professor with my mind. kenneth you said midterm grades would b up by this afternoon. it is officially TONIGHT and guess what? kenneth i would love to not be clenching my teeth in my sleep tonight. kenneth i will be sending you a bill in the mail. yes i know its probably a TAs responsibility but i blame you personally. i hate school

#i dont im having a lot of fun (genuinely) but it is often pretty stressful #did find out there are a few folks adjacent to my program doing zoonoses & climate change research so im very excited to chat w them next w #possibly directing my thesis towards one health. social epi gradually becoming less interesting #plus i think my strengths do lie in applying epi to biological concepts so. one health works there #my brain continually trying to get back to lyme disease :( sometimes i really do miss the east coast tbh!#not lying actually i think the number one thing i miss is the amt of vector borne disease research LMFAO #i do unfortunately kind of have a crush on a classmate so that's fine but whatever. grad school. men are nice to me and i lose my mind ig #need to go make out w a hot trans person i think that would solve my problems rn #but also it's nice to be so excited about someone deciding to sit next to me in every class :)#like wow how isolated have i been the last 3 years to be so delighted by like. active signs i have Officially Made Friends.#even if he does live like a block away from my dad and jokes every goddamn day like 'so i saw your dad yesterday' no you DIDNT shut UP #idk yesterday he sat right next to me in a class he usually sits w other people in and it sort of sent my brain off the edge and now im jus #yeah. sitting with this one. it's fine like it's normal. but wowie i do think it's my first time having a Big Ol Crush since (redacted)#a little scary for my animal brain i think but it's okay!#im 25 in like 3 ish weeks and i still get embarrassed about this stuff somehow? stupid.#he's just really nice and always really fun to talk to! i think i had to officially Sit With Myself today bc epi is doing a holiday party #and there's a baking contest and we were talking abt it in class and i was indecisive abt whether i want to participate #and he like fully cut me off and was like oh you should bake something so i can have some :)#and. well fuck now i have to lmao. MORE complaining sincr i have a headache and my whimsy levels are critically low

#have to sleep on the couch on vacation #my dad just fucking found out he has lyme disease #hes on antibiotics and you know hopefully no neurological symptoms will manifest but who knows!#had to drive 7 hours to go on a ‘vacation’ to hang out with my cousins #who are nice and all but . ugh. not worth it #and the air quality is sooo much worse here rhan where i live so we cqnt even. do any of the fun outdoor activities available #i dont want to be on vacation i want to slee for five hundred years

My lower back and legs have been killing me and it could be stress but it feels very Lyme disease -esque and I swear if I have Lyme disease again, idk what I'm going to do but it ain't gonna be pretty

Last time I had Lyme disease I was in so much pain, and I had to walk with a cane. Then treatment was hell. On top of that it has taken me SIX MONTHS to physically get back to where I was before I had Lyme disease (I'm an athlete for context)

I would rather not go through that again

It doesn't help that I'm low-key freaking out because the last time I had Lyme disease I almost died due to complications, and while I don't think it's Lyme disease again, it sure as hell feels like it

And if it is stress I'm just making it worse by stressing about this

#word of advice #don't live in Pennsylvania #one in every two ticks carry lyme disease #almost everyone i know has had it #however it just hit me reallt hard #lyme disease

#stuff #idk tick distribution across the usa #but im in ny and it literally originated in mass which is half an hour away frome #ive found ticks on myself countless times ive had lyme twice its just life if u live in the country #but going to college here n meeting ppl from out of state #who r terrified out of their minds of ticks n lyme #its so funny #its like theyre shocked im still alive #girl just take the antibiotics remember to wear proper attire n chck after going outside always #live laugh love feed bugs blood
