Being asexual and possibly aromantic but also being a huge shipper and hopeless romantic is such a wild experience ngl. I'm always freaking out about my favorite ships and giggling internally reading ship fics, getting invested in characters finally kissing or reading about their pining and their love and I think "I want what they have!!"

But then sometimes you have a slamming realization that your sweet shipping scenarios you imagine in your head look totally different irl and that you are extremely aspec.

People hating on Dumbledore because he chose to take the hard way and step in and lead the fight against Voldemort. And now they blame him for all the people who have died (not just order members but also death eaters like Regulus?!) but if he hadn't done anything they would still have died. The difference is that a lot of other people who survived would have died too.

Yes, I agree that Dumbledore sometimes had a bit of an ego, and he should have maybe trusted more people/told more people (especially Harry and Snape) about his plans. But on the other hand, I totally understand why he didn't or maybe even couldn't trust anyone. There are literally a couple of reasons. Like the last time he trusted (not only trusted but loved) someone, his sister died, and he never forgave himself for that. Or the time the Potters trusted someone and they died. And simply the fact they were fighting a war, and it's common knowledge that you don't know who to trust in times like these, especially when you know the enemy uses spies.

Dumbledore also didn't raise Harry to die. I mean, as far as I remember, he only figured out that Harry was a horcroux when he already went to Hogwarts. Before that, he probably knew something was up, but I don't think he believed that this something would mean that Harry would die (or at least he chose not to believe it because it was too terrible to think about). And even when he knew Harry was a horcroux I think he still hoped that there would be a way for Harry to survive this because he did care about Harry (and I mean as a person not as some kind of weapon). But even if he raised Harry to die, what else was he supposed to do? Nothing? That would mean that thousands of other people would die. If you have the choice for either one or thousands of people to die, what would you do? It's obviously a horrible situation and I hope no one ever has to see that happen, but sometimes the only choices we have are bad ones, but we still have to choose.

In the end, Dumbledore was a morally grey character who made a lot of mistakes and also some character flaws but he had a good heart and most of his mistakes were made with the best intentions but under horrible conditions.

I honestly feel a little bad for Joe Manganiello because it is kinda of obvious that Netflix asked him to host the Geeked stream so he could deliver the Cocodrile news on it, alongside with the rest of the casts announcement; and then someone that didn't check what they were uploading ruined the surprise.

Looking at the designs of the Snow White remake and I feel like the most telling detail - that they didn't really care about any memorable new details - comes at the end, in the form of Snow White's wedding dress.

Most of the princess-related remakes have a theme of ending with a wedding gown that at least looks significant and lovely. For instance, we have:

Cinderella 2015 wedding dress (Cinderella)

So much embroidery! A long and elegant veil. Sets the bar high for the following princesses.

Belle 2017 wedding dress (Beauty and the Beast)

Eh. Not my favorite, but still striking and very pretty (and better than her yellow dress!)

Jasmine 2019 wedding dress (Aladdin)

Don't have a lot of comments for this one. I think we only saw it for a half-minute ending sequence.

Aurora 2019 wedding dress (Maleficent: Mistress of Evil)

Flowers! A flowing train! Which is the point 'cause she's had an awkward "human princess vs. fae-friendly Moors Queen" arc going on. Switches between pink and green, settles on blue, as a callback to the OG Sleeping Beauty.

Ariel 2023 wedding dress (The Little Mermaid)

Decidedly pink to reference her pink ballgown from the animated movie. Short and springy like most dresses on their island home. Not the most formal, but neither is the wedding itself.

(I haven't seen the Mulan remake so if it's relevant to this post, someone else can add that.)

And then there's Snow White's wedding dress in the remake.

Which is literally "her usual dress style but in white and with one (1) extra puff added to the sleeves."

Like, Snow White, sweetie. You just got rid of the queen who stole your kingdom from you, you're marrying the love of your life, and this is it???? Like there are so many other ways to exemplify "simple, pure, rightful queen" without literally just copy-and-paste your other dress pattern and bleach it. At least round off the ruff collar maybe, add a little lace, flare the sleeves a little more, and lose the belt so it's less glaringly obvious????

Also like. Disney already had this concept art from the og Snow White movie.

I'm just saying. Too easy.

i think what i'm most excited about with the live action series is how different it's gonna be.

like, obviously, it's live action, so there's limits on what they can do in terms of the crazier stunts, places, and people. the actors will have their own mannerisms and quirks they'll add to the characters that will make them distinct. it looks like it's gonna be a bit more grounded and less cartoon-y. but most of all, it's just so so so much shorter.

season one looks like it's gonna cover all the way up to loguetown, which was original a little over 100 chapters and 50 episodes, in about ten episodes. that's a lot to cover, and while they're gonna have to cut a lot of stuff, i'm so curious how they'll condense and change the story.

(it makes me wonder, with oda working with them, if it'll resemble oda's original plan for the story, which was gonna be much shorter than it ended up being. though, we won't know that unless oda says something).

it's just going to be so different than the original one piece, and that makes me really excited, cuz it'll kind of be like watching one piece for the first time again.
