What's a citizen science project? Basically, it's crowdsourced science. In this case, crowdsourced climate science, that you can help with!

You don't need qualifications or any training besides the slideshow at the start of a project. There are a lot of things that humans can do way better than machines can, even with only minimal training, that are vital to science - especially digitizing records and building searchable databases

Like labeling trees in aerial photos so that scientists have better datasets to use for restoration.

Or counting cells in fossilized plants to track the impacts of climate change.

Or digitizing old atmospheric data to help scientists track the warming effects of El Niño.

Or counting penguins to help scientists better protect them.

Those are all on one of the most prominent citizen science platforms, called Zooniverse, but there are a ton of others, too.

Oh, and btw, you don't have to worry about messing up, because several people see each image. Studies show that if you pool the opinions of however many regular people (different by field), it matches the accuracy rate of a trained scientist in the field.

I spent a lot of time doing this when I was really badly injured and housebound, and it was so good for me to be able to HELP and DO SOMETHING, even when I was in too much pain to leave my bed. So if you are chronically ill/disabled/for whatever reason can't participate or volunteer for things in person, I highly highly recommend.

Literacy and lifelong learning ecosystem’ link.

The Efforts to promote literacy need to be anchored in a broader ecosystem of lifelong learning, adopting whole-of-government and whole-of society approaches to integrate literacy learning into people’s lives and work. Promoting learning in varied settings and spaces requires enabling literate environments, in which people can become motivated to be more literate and can acquire, use and advance their literacy skills. There have been some promising initiatives on this front. The Republic of Korea, for instance, has developed ‘a national culture of learning’ characterized by community-based literacy development, based on a whole-of-society approach and a lifelong learning ecosystem, involving well-established local governance systems. The Suwon City, one of the 180 learning cities in the country, has developed a dense network of learning facilities located within a 5–10-minute walk from all homes. Viet Nam has also built literate environments towards a learning society, including libraries, museums, cultural centres, clubs and Community Learning Centres (CLCs)

LINKTOBER Day 16: Lanayru Wetlands

Had a craving to stand behind a waterfall today, so I did. This one:

This is Sgwd yr Eira! It means 'Waterfall of the Snow'. I don't know how many of you have ever had chance to do this, but when you stand behind waterfalls large enough to have a standable space behind them, the force of the water impacting the river causes a great quantity of Droplets to rise and gently coat you in a dewy and inescapable second skin. You think it won't be so bad behind, but no you see, for that is where the Droplets like to sit; in the air, like upwards rain.

Also waterfalls of this size produce a quantity of spray otherwise only approached by monsoon showers like rich people have in their bathrooms, or perhaps fire hoses, except much more chaotic in terms of things like Quantity and Direction and Force. And again, you think this will not happen behind the waterfall, but no you see, for that is where the Sideways Sprays like to go.

And all of this is, hmm, let's say magnified. After two weeks of heavy Welsh rain. Because you see, that means there is a greater quantity of water in the river, a river which is here named after the Welsh word for lightning because of Properties, and that has implications for a person who goes behind a waterfall.

This is not a reason NOT to stand behind a waterfall, but when you are a person who knows all of this, you are also a person who knows to take waterproofs, and therefore you are a person with zero excuse when you don't because your ADHD decided that packing waterproofs didn't spark joy when you thought about it before leaving the house.

Anyway I had a fantastic time today. Love a good waterfall.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I don't think you needed to be psychic to guess that destroying ALL the shimmer supply was a bad idea.

In Act Three it took three whole doctors to save Vi's life after she gets slashed by a Noxian blade across the chest. Yet in s1 it took a single drop of shimmer to save Vi from the deep stab in the gut Sevika gave her without any other form of medical intervention.

There's just a really gross sense of irony that Caitlyn and Piltover at large took away Zaun's main source of medical care (as controversial as it may be), and then put it's people through a meat grinder battle while withholding such care.

It doesn't help that the meat grinder battle was useless ploy for Jayce to get close to Viktor and so a lot of people, specifically Zaunites, died for nothing.

Okay but it's super interesting how

Din = Power = Ganondorf

Naryu = Wisdom = Zelda

Farore = Courage = Link.

Because Din, in the hylian creation myth, created the physical world. Naryu then created the laws - gravity, time, etc. And Farore finally created life - plants and people.

Din created the body, naryu the mind, Farore the soul.

And the triforce and its wielders so perfectly reflect that.

Ganon is physical power, he is big and intimidating and he breaks things. He is cunning and determined, but that's not what he focuses on. He is might makes right.

Zelda is wisdom and cleverness. She is stall tactics and information and team work. She is a powerful mage with a spine of steel, but that's not how she'll win. She is the pen being mightier than the sword.

Link is courage and persistence. He is the wild card sneaking behind enemy ranks, always moving, plunging into terrifying situations head first. He's a phenomenal fighter with a keen wit, but that's not what will get him through his challenges. He is bravery not being the absence of fear but the triumph over it.

They sit in perfect parallels to each other.

And ganon is reborn through his body - his resurrection is immortality. No matter how low he is cast, as long as he has a body he can claw his way back. He can cling to his power, build it ever higher.

Zelda is reborn through the magic of her bloodline. It's the accumulated knowledge handed down for generations, the unique power she must master, the skills she must develop to survive and get her kingdom out the other side intact. Even her name, the knowledge of herself, is handed down from all the way from the very first. Her ancestors knowledge of her future presence, her stability, is what gives her the edge.

Link is reborn in spirit. He is not bound by flesh or blood. Just like his wanderlust soul he can reappear in any time or place. His variation, his unpredictability, is exactly how he fights. It's what makes him so hard to pin down.

Ganons need to build strength means he can't chase after link. Links impulsiveness means zelda can outwit him. Zeldas stationary predictability means she's an easy target for ganon.

But the other direction?

Fire melts ice, ice redirects lightning, lightning burns fire.

And that's the very essence of the triforce.

Rewatched “Scavenger’s Reign” and it gave me the urge to draw something in a way inspired by the beautiful landscapes in the series. I’m out of practice with environmental illustrations, but this was a very calming one to make.

Trees so tall their canopies are lost to the eye, but their seeds drift down in gentle light and land among stones jutting from the ground. Not many beings get to witness it.

I got a little confused by the 4 day, may maybe you help me please? who is it? why we got the bad end staying the night in Ren’s apartment and he disappear of the home screen? You can only get the Dead End in Day 4 by staying at Ren's apartment — the rest of your choices before that don't matter. I'd also pay closer attention to the black smoke and Ren's reaction towards it!

Ren disappears from the home screen because he promised to help the player out (and stop them from getting the Dead End again). Try replaying the game again from the beginning for a surprise!

"Unsent Memories" was another visual novel (initially being written by @10chimes / @unsentmemory, though the project has since been dropped and handed back to me /pos) and is set in the same universe as 14 Days With You. Its storyline and characters are completely separate from 14DWY, so you don't have to worry about them while playing 14DWY.
