i think the dear hunter is one of my favorite bands just bc of how diverse their music can be in one album.
like the whole concept of tdh is being about the titular "dear hunter", a boy who's story unfolds over the course of the band's multiple albums. i might be a tdh fan but....i havent actually been able to follow the story in question. thats not what this post is about tho
it's about how this song
and THIS song
are on the same album

you ever relisten to an old favorite album of yours for the first time in a while and go "holy shit this album is good" as if you should be surprised
like yea no shit girl you obsessed over this album for damn near 2 years, of course it still hits
anyway you should really listen to this if you never have, or if it's just been a while
it truly is a masterpiece, and the album that began my obsession with music. I would not be here ranting about music everyday if it wasn't for this album

IM SUCH A CASUAL HALSEY FAN I REALLY DO NEED TO DO A DEEP DIVE INTO THEIR DISCOGRAPHY 😔 i’ve been listening to her recent singles lately (so heartbreaking but so good) and i loved the marketing for her latest single. out of what i’ve listened to my fave songs are nightmare, gasoline, castle, and you should be sad (i ❤️ angry women music) tell me any songs you think i should listen to <3
sorry i’m responding so late but it was hard to narrow down my picks!! i’m just going to give you a few recs from each album (the angriest song/s plus my personal favorites) and hope you like them! i do think it’s worth going through their entire discography at some point but for now i think this will hopefully be a good intro for you if you decide to listen :)
badlands: hold me down (angry), drive (all time fav!!!), hurricane, ghost, coming down, and even though this is already more than i wanted to put im adding control because i feel like it’s gasoline’s sister song
hfk: (i’m going to give a disclaimer that this is my least fav / least listened to album so i’m probably not a good consultant for these songs but here are my favs) eyes closed, heaven in hiding, alone, sorry, angel on fire, devil in me (okay i like more songs than i thought lmao)
manic (HER BEST WORK??? seriously it will be a struggle for me to not just list the whole album): clementine, forever … (is a long time), i hate everybody, 3am (this one isn’t exactly ~angry~ but it fits that vibe somehow), finally // beautiful stranger, alanis’ interlude, more, 929
iichliwp (i would say this is the other contender for their best album but manic is a just a little bit more beloved and personal to me): the tradition, bells in santa fe, easier than lying (angry!), lilith, you asked for this (ANGRY!! and probably my favorite angry song of theirs ever), honey, whispers, i am not a woman i’m a god, the lighthouse
it was honestly so hard not to just put the last 2 in their entirety. i especially think if you like the angry woman vibe iichliwp is the album for you!! it is such perfection from start to finish. also a lot from manic and iichliwp are some of my all time fav lily calloway songs. a lot of halsey’s work fits that category but especially from those last 2 albums the narrative is strong. i know sometimes it’s hard getting yourself to listen to new music especially if you aren’t in the right headspace but lmk if you ever check any of these out! <3 (i know there’s so many haha)
