Kyoutani and his sister watch shitty reality TV together. Kyoutani likes to act like he doesn't care about any of the shows but when his sister watches an episode without him he becomes genuinely upset. She only made the mistake of believing he was telling the truth about not caring about the show once. This is what happened the first (and last) time she made that mistake:

Kyoutani: "Why did you watch it without me? We were supposed to watch it together."

His sister: "I thought you said you didn't care if I watched it without you?"

Kyoutani: "You know I was lying!"

And ever since then they've watched everything strictly together.

you once mentioned that you never analyze bsd characters without considering the source material and the namesakes, and i've been looking at akutagawa's natal chart for 15 minutes because i wanted to write something about bsd!akutagawa, but i can't stop thinking about his moon in aries and how aries moon natives tend to describe their mother figures as chaotic, sometimes controlling, how they often have to pick up the pieces. and his dominant aspect being a square, a martian aspect—his life must have felt like an endless battlefield (with mercury—his mind—being affected the most). i have to agree, once you know at least a little about the namesake and their work, it feels not just unnecessary but also impossible to perceive bsd characters without considering what inspired them

Yes! There's so much intention in how Kafka Asagiri writes the influences into the characters, and once you start noticing them, the influences fit so neatly into the unspoken grooves of the characters. Which speaks to how well Asagiri knows his source material!

Also, I'm 🥺 over Akutagawa and how his mother's mental illness felt so intensely to him like something lurking within himself too (almost like... it felt like a beast... inside of him... that threatened to consume him...)

Am i the only one that feels weird when people describe dazai as a womanizer, say he fucked the nurse etc? Like to me he is so gay coded that i just can't take his whole flirting with women thing seriously. It feels part of his clown persona and not a sincere representation of his character at all. I know that irl dazai was a womanizer, but bsd takes inspiration from the lives of the authors and twists the events to craft entirely new characters (eg dazai was the one who admired akutagawa irl not the other way around). And one important thing is how none of his relationships with women have any substance. He's shown to respect them sure, but emotionally his relations to them are completely empty. He admires their beauty, but it is with men that he always has deeper emotional connections with (his life was literally changed by chuuya and oda, because of his relationship with them) I think people who genuinely consider him a womanizer, fall for his act, his clown mask if you will.
