Disney Princesses singing in their Native Languages (part 3)
Part #1
Part #2
Further info about my choices for the languages in this video under the cut
Tiana
In the bilingual city of New Orleans, where English and Cajun French had been coexisting for a long time, I would expect Tiana to speak both natively. I used the Canadian dub for French, not the one from France.
English Tiana: Anika Noni Rose French Tiana: Nancy Fortin
Anastasia
The story is about Tsar Nicholas II’s (then) lost daughter Anastasia. And since Disney acquired Fox years ago, that’s good enough for me to count Anastasia as a Disney princess. Typical me, yeah
Russian Anastasia: Masha Kats | Ма́ша Кац
Ariel
According to a book from the official Disney Princess franchise, “A Treasury of Enchanting Tales” (2019), the story takes place in the Mediterranean Sea in the 17th century.

Moreover, Disney also confirmed that Eric's castle is located in Italy. Despite this though, since Triton is a god from the Greek pantheon (but not present in the Roman one), Greek seems like the logic choice to me. Please, note that this video is about Disney’s movies, not the stories behind them. Yes, the tale is originally Danish, but just like Elsa is not Danish, or Tiana is not German, Disney’s Little Mermaid is not Danish either. Please, understand that this is how folk tales work: they are told and re-told countless times, changing and gaining new traits as they go. Yes, this story comes originally from a Danish tale, and no one will ever take that away from The Little Mermaid
Greek Ariel: Ánna Róssi | Άννα Ρόσση (1998 re-dub)
Aurora
According to a book from the official Disney Princess franchise, “A Treasury of Enchanting Tales” (2019), the story takes place in a generic "Western Europe" in the 14th century. Looking closely at the provided map, it seems to me the place falls somewhere in Northern France or maybe in Wallonia (French-speaking part of Belgium).

French Aurora: Danielle Licari (1981 re-dub)
Elsa
Anna and Elsa are daughters of a Norwegian king and a Sámi queen, as is shown in Frozen 2. It is also shown they have no trouble understanding the meaning of “All is Found”, a traditional Northuldra lullaby, which is certainly sung in Sámi. This means that Anna and Elsa are bilingual Norwegian-Sámi native speakers.
Norwegian Elsa: Lisa Stokke Sámi Elsa: Marianne Pentha

Into The Unknown / I ujkent land
Jeg har hørt deg her i kveld I have heard you here tonight Det lukter trøbbel, det vet jeg vel It smells like trouble, I know that well Det er tusen grunner til å leve slik som før There are a thousand reasons to live just like before Velge bort din hvisking, den som bare gjør meg ør To ignore your whisper, which just makes me lightheaded
Din fjerne røst er som et ekko, ikke mer Your distant voice is like an echo, nothing more Om den var ekte (vakke det) den lokkelyd du sprer If it was real (it isn’t!), the alluring sound you spread Her er de jeg bryr meg om, de kjæreste jeg har The ones I care about are here, the loved ones I have Så mystiske sirene, du får ikke noe svar So mystical siren, you won’t get an answer
Jeg har jo gjort der meste, det klarer seg for meg I have done the most I could, and that works for me Jeg er redd for hva som hender hvis jeg følger deg I’m afraid of what will happen if I follow you Inn i ukjent land, inn i ukjent land Into unknown lands, into unknown lands Inn i ukjent land Into unknown lands
Si hva du vil, for du har vekket meg i natt Say what you want, because you’ve woken me tonight Er du her for å skremme, til jeg føler meg forlatt? Are you here to scare me, until I feel abandoned? Men er du også ensom? Kanskje minner du om meg But are you also lonely? Maybe you remind me of myself Og vet at du burde tatt en annen vei And you know that you should’ve taken a different path
Hver dag tærer på min styrke og jeg kjenner på en trang Every day tears at my strength and I feel an urge Vet jeg kan og hjertet sier gang på gang I know I can, and the heart says time after time Inn i ukjent land, inn i ukjent land Into unknown lands, into unknown lands Inn i ukjent land Into unknown lands
Si meg er du den som ser meg? Tell me, are you the one who see me? Går du foran hvis jeg ber deg? Will you go forth if I ask you to?
Hvor har du tenkt deg? Vil du føre an? Where do you think you’re going? Do you want to lead? Våger jeg følge deg inn i ukjent land? Dare I follow you into unknown lands?
Credit to this website, and a bit of Google. And actually a bit of me!

Far from being my favourite international dubbing of Frozen, but I guess this is undeniably Elsa's native language and native version of "let it go"
