Professor Scarecrow, Th.D (Doctor of Thinkology)! 👏🏻😭
Congrats to him on officially getting his credentials! I'm so proud of him. And so is his family. 🥹
Tin Man: Don't ever leave me again! 🤧
🗣️ Tincrow is canon!
#Scarecrow and Tin Man (also Lion) are all queer-coded and historically have been-even in the original books by L Frank Baum!#I'm never forgiving WB for putting them all in heterosexual relationships in this series#Tincrow has also been a thing in many other Oz iterations#In fact Scarecrow's actor from the 1939 film Ray Bolger is confirmed to be gay; he married a woman to be accepted#he and Gwen had a good relationship though! remember when people were swearing that mothpool was incest and awful because redtail was apparently sandstorm’s dad, something that was never portrayed in the books at all in any way, even when we got multiple spotlights on redtail and sandstorm after the erins said so, and in fact they retconned over that retcon so sandstorm has no canon parents and redtail never had a mate and kits.
and on top of that, the same people not saying a single word about bramblesquirrel even though they’re literally the same exact amount of related.... wonder what’s different about mothpool from bramblesquirrel. hm.
#im not saying incest is cool and fine but like. personally i dont get why ppl are so vigilant abt relations confirmed on twitter#especially when they include literal fucking siblings getting together and having kittens at certain points.#which iirc is something they took out thank god. but like even then ppl were defending it#actually. just realizing that all the gay ships are the ones that ppl try to pull this card on#some of it theyre right about. some of it just feels exhausting#i got told that hollycinder is incest and bad but i dont even think it is#and if its once again just redtail connection then well thats debunked so.#and even then. what about lioncinder. lion is holly's brother. wtf.#and i still see people to this day being like ''oh no its canon that redtail is sandstormsdad its so true so these gay ships suck''#like. i get the concern i truly do but im not gonna lie. i do not give a shit what the erins say online#and like canonically so much creepy shit goes away if u take away the ''oh these tworandom bg characters had sandstorm'' thing#like ashfur being squirrelflights uncle. so again..... why are people so determined to believe its canon#echoed voice

the lion guard was so fucking funny. disney jr show that confirmed “can you feel the love tonight” was a sex scene in episode one. simba spent so long angsting over his dead dad and kion can just call him up for a pep talk whenever the fuck he wants. timon and pumbaa adopted a whole-ass second child in case you were wondering if they were still gay. lion king 2 is still canon it just happened during like the week kion was out. the episodes are written for 5yos and then like a season in the villains necromance scar to traumatize the main kid and permanently blind a main character. zira was a lion supremecist

Zoom In.
Muggle AU, professor of 18C literature and poetry Draco, celebrity Harry ✨️
~
Violet was the first to log in - again. In the minutes before class began - in the "waiting room" - while she stared at her blank screen, it felt like the only real few moments she truly had to herself.
She spent all those moments, like so many others, thinking about Professor Malfoy.
To every single straight girl, and the singular gay guy, in class, Professor Malfoy was prime wank material. Violet hadn't known her classmates to be as desperate for a good word on their assignments from any other professor. To think homework would feature so high on the to-do lists of some of the biggest lunkheads she knew...there was definitely something about him, that Professor Malfoy.
She could see the appeal. The eerily pale eyes, hair, and skin made to appear warmer by the fluffy jumpers - all in elegant shades of scarlet, burgundy, emerald, wine, golden yellow - he wore over crisply ironed button-downs and tailored trousers; the way he used his hands when he talked, long fingers like a pianist's; the slim golden spectacles he was constantly misplacing on his own head, the rich precision with which he pronounced the olde names and subjects that he spoke of - it was very difficult not to admire Professor Malfoy.
All of that, but nobody really knew much about him outside of uni.
They'd switched to virtual classes a week ago; hurrah for the new pandemic. The idea that she didn't have to sit in class with her tittering classmates, a stray cough sounding now and again, made Violet automatically sit up straighter and smile, just as the little boxes on her screen began popping into life.
"Aaaayyyy!"
"Tell me we don't need to have our faces on display."
"So, yes, before anyone asks: this is a real lip ring. An actual piercing. Yeah, I'm not blowing you, Greg, sod off."
"Is Professor Malfoy on?"
"No, I don't see him here yet. Did he grade your essay?"
"Yo, can someone please tell me how to turn this camera off, I am smashed out my--"
"Click on the camera icon, Bryan--"
"It's not even noon, what d'you mean "smashed"?
"No, you've turned off your mic. No, we cannot hear you screaming."
"First icon on the bottom left," Violet said, rolling her eyes.
And then Professor Malfoy was in class.
There was a beat of silence before everyone called out greetings, a chaotic round of cheerful hello's that nobody could quite make sense of. Least of all Professor Malfoy.
He was peering into his screen, his slim nose scrunched.
"All right, so I can see me. Can you?"
Cacophonic confirmations.
"Okay, so nobody can see or hear me. Right."
More shrill reassurances. One loud beer-belch.
"Damn it all to hell, I knew this would happen, I told him that I'll need--"
"We can see you!" shrieked Preiti.
"We can hear you!" Nora bellowed.
But Professor Malfoy was already twisting around in his chair, scowling heavily, and screaming, "OY! COME IN HERE, YOU MISERABLE WANKER!"
Violet, along with her classmates, just stared in mystified silence. The professor never spoke like that. He ticked them off if they did.
A tall figure in a too big hoodie appeared suddenly, hissing back at Professor Malfoy. There was a golden lion printed on the maroon jacket. The hood was drawn in close, and Violet could just barely make out the light from the computer screen glinting off a pair of round glasses, on which a shaggy fringe of dark hair fell.
"You need to turn the volume up. Git," said the stranger. "Your camera's already on."
"I hate technology," Professor Malfoy seethed.
"You hate so much else. I'm getting fish and chips." The man was already walking off.
"I want mushy peas too, with mine."
"What kind of sick bastard." The room door was shut with a thud.
"Sorry about all that. We are now officially in session," Professor Malfoy said, smiling and restoring his glasses upon his nose. "Do you all have--?"
There was a muffled shout from somewhere behind the professor. Pinching the bridge of his nose, Professor Malfoy called back, "No. No, I don't want a curry dipping sauce."
There was more muffled yelling.
"Harry, get out right now!" shrieked Professor Malfoy, and Violet, along with the others, just ogled.
Malfoy sighed. "Sorry 'bout that. Just my idiot husband."
"You're married?!" Violet had asked before she could stop herself.
Professor Malfoy sighed, flipping open a thick, spiral bound folder. "Yes. You've heard of Harry Potter, I'm sure. He's the poor idiot I married."

Ur soooo right abt Lance I think he just became the fandom’s darling because people saw inklings of insecurity and home sickness and zeroed in. He’s whump bait, but like without the more complicated issues tied into Shiro, Allura, and Keith’s problems. Prime projection material.
He has potential and I appreciate fandom’s ability to see that in him, but you’re so right that people have completely forgotten who he is in canon. He *could* have been better, but he wasn’t and it’s frustrating that people have lost sight of that because I think it would genuinely produce more interesting takes on his character and role in the story. As someone who genuinely wants him to be a better character it makes me want to eat dry wall.
Lance, first and foremost, is the everyday man. That's why he's so popular. He is far from a piloting prodigy, flirts with every pretty girl, funny and exaggerative, has a generic weapon like a rifle, is the first paladin to find his Lion, and has the most basic interal conflict there can be. Which is why everyone loves him.
Shiro? Shiro is confirmed gay, was hailed as the most promising pilot pre-canon, was officially the youngest man sent into space, but also had an illness for canon forgot about it, had major PTSD that left him unable to move in most cases, considered himself broken if his hallucinations said anything, and literally died. He's good leader matieral, able to handle a group of four wildly differing teenagers and only really let his emotions plan his course of action once (when Allura was kidnapped). This man is insanely skilled but also insanely traumatised.
Keith? Keith beat all of the records Shiro set and was known as a genius in the field, only held back by his defense mechanisms and rushing on ahead. He was abandoned by his mother when he was a toddle, then his father died implicitly before his eyes, he was then an orphan where he was probably passed around from family to family, ot feeding into his adandonment issues. He gained a friend in Shiro, the first person to reach out to him, and then lost him a few years later. He finally gets Shiro back, only for more shit to happen. He finds out his mom was Galra, and becomes sorry that he even existed because of this. Nobody on Voltron actually felt like his friend with Pidge constantly calling him a loner right after he lost Shiro, Hunk poking fun at his Galra genes, and Lance playing up this one-sidedly rivalry and taking everything he does as an attack on his person. He loses Shiro again and has to constantly give him up for the sake of Voltron and the universe. The only time he can focus on himself is when Shiro is back and he distants himself for the team's sake and they just let him go. He's so affected by grief before the story starts and it doesn't give him a break. Even so, he's so kind and genuine about everything. He becomes the Black Paladin, not because he had no choice. Maybe at first, but he grows into that role and becomes a great leader.
Pidge? Pidge is a prodigy and a genius, able to hack firm and software from alien planets. She can fly a jet just from reading instruction manuels and have little to no trouble. At the same time, lost her brother and father all at once. When she finally got some clue as to what happened to them, she was kicked out and banned from the Garrison. She disguised as a boy and snuck in, abandoning her dream of becoming a fighter pilot because navigation would teach her more about scanning space for extraterrestrial communication and lifeforms. When she finally has the chance to find her family, she has to constantly give them and clues she may find up because Volton and the universe come first.
Hunk? Hunk is just as much of a genius as Pidge, even if the writers forget, with him able to spot foul play on an alien ship easily. He's so kind and loving yet fierce with his protection and so strong when defending his friends. He keeps spirits high with his warming attitude, even if he's the most home sick of them all. He acts the most realistically to become a child soldier. Still, even when he's terrified, he pushes on so that people like Shay can find out what freedom is. Feel it for themselves. When they go back to Earth, Hunk is the only one who has to fight to get his parents back and earn his happy ending. He suffers throughout the series, but he's always looking at the greener side.
Allura and Coran? They lost their families and thejr entire species before canon ever began. They lost so much and have nothing but revenge fueling them. They have to deal with the fact that they slept through the massacre of the Altean species and woke up far too late. They have to deal with inexperienced humans who have no real attachment to the war. They have to deal with the fact that they are the last of the Alteans. And when it's finally revealed that there are more survivors, they have to deal with the fact that they're being farmed by Lotor/Honerva for their quintessence. Allura was so depressed in season eight after falling for Lotor then being used so thoroughly by him. Coran never got to say goodbye to Allura before she died. Despite this, they still fight with all they have, making sure nobody has to face the loss they've felt.
Lance? Um. He's insecure about his place in the team? I guess Veronica nearly died but she didn't so whatever... He did spend a lot of his time in the Garrison being compared to Keith... But he also spent time he could've used to better his skills to sneak out and flirt with girls or hit the arcade. Um... I guess...
Um. Yeah.
See, I always wonder how people see such angst potential in Lance, or even see him as an angsty character in general. They act as though he's suffered the most in canon when, in reality, he hasn't. He has the most generic troubles and, I guess, it's more relatable that way? People don't have to struggle to relate to PTSD or abandonment issues or identity issues or child soldiers or losing your entire species.
Insecurity? That's easy because everyone feels insecure.
Which is why Lance is so popular.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this isn't valid. It sucks to feel insecure and doubt your every move. The only difference is how common Lance's issues are compared to everyone else. Because Lance is generic as hell, people love to vent through him.
Lance has a stable friendship group, is constantly given everything he wants, and even manages to destroy what has been the canon ship over decades (Kallura). He invented a rivalry with Keith, who didn't even know who he was when they met. Because of that, people either ship them for the 'rivals to lovers' trope or hate Keith and act as though Keith was bullying him. Shiro doesn't take Lance's side often because Lance's ideas are dangerous or reckless. He still tries to let him down gently, making logical arguments (see: Shiro explaining that Red is fire-resistant so Keith has to go to the BOM HQ). Oh, but he's not on Lance's side so the fandom decides he's an awful leader. As if they know what a good leader is. They think a good leader is someone who gets distracted by a pretty girl and blames everyone but himself.
The only thing not given to Lance on a silver platter is Black. Thank God. But because he wasn't given Black when he was given everything else, fandom decides that DreamWorks hates Lance and decides to argue that Lance was always destined to be the Black Paladin. Ignoring how Black's colour scheme was LITERALLY ON KEITH'S CLOTHES.
So. Yeah. He definitely has potential before DreamWorks just started rewarding him for breathing. The insecurity he has could have been a good way to develop his character. He could have become someone outside of Keith or Shiro's shadow. He didn't need a love interest to prosper, as proven by the fact that he never prospered in canon.
His potential was there, just ignored because the writers were allergic to complex characters, even to the smallest degree.
(They should have gotten the writers for Race to the Edge to do Voltron ugh)

@sockdooe Are there legitimately, truly, and genuinely people who fight about that?
I'm pretty sure that the Black Lion, herself, definitively answered that question.
She came to Shiro's aid by awakening and allowing Keith to pilot her when Shiro was being attacked and on the verge of losing his life to those raptor creatures in the second season's opening episode.
She severed Zarkon's connection to her in favor of bolstering her bond with Shiro, because Shiro understood that the relationship between Lion and Paladin is "not about power. It's about earning each other's trust."
And, she cherished Shiro enough to hold onto his essence after his body was destroyed.
Shiro was the first to master seeing through his lion's eyes, all the way back in Season One.
He and Black had a deep enough desire and willingness to fully understand one another that she showed him her history and abilities that she and Shiro had yet to unlock together.
There's no debate to be had, here. Shiro is the ultimate Black Paladin, as determined by the Black Lion, herself.
I can only guess that there's an element of ageism, perhaps even ableism, and undoubtedly superficial vanity at play when it comes to the fandom's preference for Keith, Lance, and the pairing of the two of them that shall not be named. Keith and Lance are skinny, elfin-faced twinks with a cliche rivalry and certain vulnerabilities that appeal more to the younger demographic. Shiro is a square-jawed, six-foot-tall adult man with bulging biceps and abs of steel, and the sort of trauma that would take years to even begin processing, let alone healing from, who seems to be much more popular with the older, adult fans, and Eastern audiences. The younger, American fans took to calling Shiro a "dad", after all, despite him being twenty-five years-old; nowhere near old enough to be a father to any of the teenagers he finds himself put in charge of. I've also seen Keith/Lance shippers calling Shiro "Keith's dad", which feels vaguely racist, and arguing that Shiro "raised" Keith, which is ludicrous. It doesn't help at all that the show, itself, feeds into the ageism and ableism by sweeping Shiro's trauma under the rug, sidelining him when he's down an arm, and sequestering him and Coran off with the other adults while the teenaged- sans Keith, who was at least twenty-one throughout the latter half of the seventh and whole of the eighth season- Paladins go off on their adventures.
I know the intention was to kill Shiro off permanently before the producers vetoed it due to Shiro's popularity and status as the show's only (living, explicitly confirmed, and relevant) gay character. Perhaps because he has no one-to-one equivalent character in the original series this was a remake of, and Keith was the leader in that same original series, so he was destined to be the leader, here, as well. Or, because the VLD showrunners were under the- delusional- belief that they could have Keith redo what Shiro had already done, only better, somehow, because they prioritized spectacle over narrative substance. Regardless, it's apparent that Shiro is only still around out of obligation, come the eighth season, and there was no desire on the writers' parts to further explore or develop his character. Hence him having no family, and, by extension, no real support system, being largely isolated from everyone, only really getting to shine in an episode that's half filler and unintentionally perpetuates more ableism, and then being married off to a "character" who might as well be a glorified piece of set dressing for all of the personality and importance he's given.
It's absolutely mind-boggling to me that,
1. The majority, or at least the most vocal parts of the fanbase cared more about shipping and complaining about being "queerbaited" over Lance/Keith when Shiro is right there.
And, 2. It seems like Josh Keaton, Shiro's voice actor, was the only member of the crew who truly appreciated Shiro, enough to offer his personal headcanon about Shiro's family- that Shiro was raised by his grandfather- state that he intentionally gave the clone's voice a harder edge compared to Shiro's softer, gentler tones in order to distinguish between the two of them, showing his implicit understanding of Shiro's character, and even made a video tribute to Shiro after the show had ended.
Aww, thank you for enjoying my angry rant on Shiro's behalf. Believe me, it burns that Shiro is overlooked entirely as the stepping stone he was on the path toward gay representation in children's media, purely because this show's quality plummeted so hard, and the fandom earned itself a reputation as one of the worst in recorded history. He deserves to be honored and celebrated, as not only a proud gay man who told Pidge that "owning who you are is going to make you a better Paladin", but also as a trauma survivor who strove to remain gentle, patient, and kind, and devote his life to saving others.
And, yes, he also deserves the best therapist in the universe, and all of the cuddles. ❤

2023 in Films
I watched way too many films this year. Here are my opinions on some of them
January
Las Cosas Del Querer (1989) - Amazing if you love sad hot people and flamenco
Canadian Bacon (1995) - Incredibly silly and Alan Alda plays the US president
Nope (2022) - A highlight of the year
February
Hellraiser (1987) - This film is actually about miscommunication in this essay I will-
Predestination (2014) - Time Travel and Gender Moments
Malignant (2021) - Camp horror masterwork
Late Phases (2014) - Mediocre werewolf film with some really interesting comments on ageism, ableism, suburbia and religion
March
Sterne (1959) - Plays into some problematic stereotypes from today's perspective but revolutionary for its time, first German film to address the Holocaust
Major League (1989) - A film I only watched to confirm that it uses a weird phrase I also found in my thesis project
Carry On Screaming (1966) - Camp. Gay. Horror. Parody.
Glen or Glenda (1953) - A product of its time and no longer up to date in its understanding of gender but surprisingly revolutionary in its compassion and earnestness despite the bad reviews
April
Taxi Driver (1976) - Isn't it frustrating when annoying people tell you a film is good and then it's actually good?
June
Mr Deeds Goes To Town (1936) - Mr Deeds has autism swag
El Espíritu de la Colmena (1973) - I really wanted to like this because civil war era Spain and Frankenstein are super up my alley but unfortunately it was so much slower than expected
Das Boot (1981) - Very long and claustrophobic but holds up to the hype
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story (2022) - RIP King
July
Nimona (2023) - His big wet eyes bewitched me
First Blood (1982) - You're telling me the film is about Americans fighting an enemy they view as simultaneously weak and dangerous, escalating the situation, and then sending more and more men into a rainforest to die through guerilla warfare after being warned again and again they can't win this? sounds familiar
Barbie (2023) - Insert a bunch of pink emojis
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) - Made me crave bagels
Jojo Rabbit (2019) - God I love war satires
Sweet Liberty (1986) - Alan Alda having fun and also using his own film as a therapy session
The Majestic (2001) - A rewatch but it's so tragically underrated, Jim Carrey is very good in dramatic roles and McCarthy-era media is like catnip for me
Joker (2019) - This is just Taxi Driver with extra steps
August
Tin & Tina (2023) - Probably one of the worst films I have seen in a while
Battle of the Sexes (2017) - I love women
Four Lions (2010) - The ending really got me, I love when satire gets serious
The Sheriff and the Satellite Kid (1979) - Can we talk about how the theme song is just going "I'm the sheriff" "yes you're the sheriff"
Happiness (1998) - Nauseating but in a "good film but what the fuck" way
They Call Him Bulldozer (1978) - Italian Lagaan
The Talented Mr Ripley (1999) - Sad and Gay
Twister (1996) - So much better than expected
Magnolia (1999) - Cloudy with a chance of frogs, a really long but really good film and I'm not entirely sure I got it
Doubt (2008) - Somehow I watched 5 films with Philip Seymour Hoffman that month because I was haunted by his ghost or something
September
The Terminal (2004) - I assumed this to be more of a classic romcom but the whole concept (based on a true story) is so terrifying and tragic that it made me feel all emotions at once
Apocalypse Now (1979) - I knew a lot of trivia about the film but for some reason I didn't know anything about the cast so every single actor was a surprise and made me go "!!!", Also I kinda wanna write an essay about it
October
Bloodbath at the House of Death (1984) - Some of the gay jokes absolutely killed me
Last Night in Soho (2021) - I'm Not Like the Other Girls to Time Travel Murder Nightmare Pipeline, actually I really enjoyed this one but it's also super silly
The Banshees of Inisherin (2022) - How do you say poor little meow meow in gaeilge
The Menu (2022) - I go to the murder restaurant I order the beesechurger, I was super surprised there's no cannibalism but tbh that would have been low hanging fruit
The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021) - Explains a lot about religion in the US, I love that she was pro lgbt, also I googled her ex husband and he has a prepper/survivalist thing going on now and scams more people
The Darjeeling Limited (2007) - we can't eat pray love ourselves out of this one boys
Holes (2003) - Hated the book as a teenager for school reasons but gave the film a try and really enjoyed it
Renfield (2023) - I expected werewolves but I enjoyed it nevertheless, My Chemical Romance is on the soundtrack, it's very silly, the effects are great
Interview with the Vampire (1994) - Oh people weren't lying about it being homoerotic
The Big Lebowski (1998) - I've had days that feel like that
November
Pappa ante Portas (1991) - Funnier now that I'm an adult, basically half the jokes my mum makes are from this film
The Meg 2: The Trench (2023) - I watched this while sick and really wanted to see a giant shark fight a giant octopus and boy did it deliver
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022) - Very nice animation style
JFK (1991) - I actually fell asleep halfway through because it's so long but can we talk about how this film is just A-listers but has some of the worst wigs and makeup I've seen
Bottoms (2023) - A spiritual sequel to Heathers
December
When Harry Met Sally (1989) - They deserve each other (derogatory) but that one restaurant scene was pretty funny
The Royal Nanny (2022) - one of the many Hallmark films my mum made me watch and this is perhaps the worst one, incredibly sexist even for a Hallmark film and they clearly mean Mi5 but say Mi7 which was a WW2 propaganda service? Also they really want me to believe there is a British prince called Colin and that he doesn't look like his family tree is a circle?
I forgot the title but there was also the one where two people get stuck in a time loop while trying to make a sponsored youtube video about baking and I didn't really pay attention much but man that was bad

ive made a horrible discovery the other day and i need to share it with the world. venn diagram of hollyleaf from warrior cats and goro akechi from persona 5.
help. i made this discovery weeks ago and i can't stop thinking about it ever since List of other similarities that i've found since creating this diagram - hollyleaf was nearly named crowkit, so nearly had a name related to crow. - both have fathers who are absent, and rejected them when they found out of their existence - both had the intention to reveal the actions of their parents that they / get back at their parents for something (in hollyleafs case breaking the code, in crows case just. everything about shido ever he fucking sucks) - mothers with suicidal ideation. reread sunrise the other day and realised although Leafpool doesn't go through with it she very heavily implies that the best option for her right now is to eat the deathberries that Hollyleaf presents to her, and only doesn't because she knows Hollyleaf would be unhappy knowing she ended her suffering. - Both have a period of timing acting as an unknown shadowy figure. The black mask, and Hollyleaf's return where it's not known who is helping cats around the clan and they are suspicious of her - theyre both gay. in opposite directions but both of these characters like the same gender as them. - the character who they are most popularly shipped with (being a gay ship) has another ship (which is straight) which is considered more canon. Cinder x Holly vs Lion x Cinder, and Shuake vs literally any ship with the protag that could be canon to playthroughs. - they both kill someone who is technically a teacher (headteacher, and ashfur has been a mentor) - the murders they committed were very much framed to look like an accident (hollyleaf attempted to make it look like ashfur had left the clan by pushing his body into the river so it'd never be found) Also in general the whole presumed dead thing happens in very similar ways. Both characters have a mental breakdown over the actions of their parents, not being able to live up to expectations/public image etc, and lash out at the people closest to them. This is then followed by some physical division being placed between them and the protagonists (the big engine room wall door thingy. and the cave in for hollyleaf), which means that they can't confirm if they were dead.
in conclusion these characters are freakishly similar and i dont know what to do with this information.

JTTW Chapter 39 Thoughts
Chapter 39 for the @journeythroughjourneytothewest Reading Group!
If you look at it the whole ‘using a method from the World of Light’ isn’t all that different than just fetching the soul directly from the Region of Darkness. Both are just a trip someplace to fetch something with the end result being the same as well.
It’s not gay if it’s resuscitation.
Also we got confirmation that Sun Wukong never ate flesh of any kind! So the bit in the White Bone Arc was really just him messing with Tang Sanzang.
So it has been roughly three years now! Good to have that clarified, since it was rather vague a couple of chapters ago. So from the previous Arc there has been around a one to two year timeskip.
I just realized how I always picture them to walk to the right. Probably because it is so ingrained in me to seek progression towards the right from video games. But the West would be to the left.
I honestly doubt an ordinary scimitar would be holding up this well if at all against Sun Wukong let alone the Ruyi Jingu Bang.
Small colour clarification, which can be a little confusing. The first mention of colour in the poem about the lion is indigo, so blue leaning. The second is verdant. And afterwards the lion is titled [青毛獅子 Qīngmáo shīzi], so technically Verdant-haired Lion.
While we have established that in the Original Chinese they likely mean a more green tone when using verdant, in this case due to the indigo preceding it I am personally more inclined to go with the J. F. Jenner and German Translation of Blue Lion if we want to use a specific colour.
However looking at some images of the creature, different depictions went with different colours, some green, some blue, some more vaguely inbetween, so there doesn’t seem to be a definitive common consensus, so either translation works perfectly fine.

about vld: i really liked the first few seasons and i agree with most that it’s really not That Bad, just had some gnarly happenings between seasons (shiro confirmed gay in the world’s worst way, etc.) and a sloppy last few seasons, writing wise.
I sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as you can! Since you mentioned liking the hand to hand fights more: there’s some Really Lovely non-lion fight scenes later on!! some really cool animated sequences there imo.
that said. choose your blorbo wisely because lance and hunk get increasingly smaller amounts of meaningful screentime lol
Shiro's gay?? Taste the rainbow, Shirooo.
I've gotten to more hand-to-hand/weapons scenes and yeeees! Loving them! Pidge was dominating!
Good to know, good to know. Think I'm leaning more toward Pidge, Shiro, and Keith. Although, I feel like Keith is kinda taking a backseat at the moment, so definitely want to get more of a backstory on him. Not sure if there's an arc that focuses on him more, but I hope so.
#panicking bc i still haven't settled on a blorbo lmao#usually i'll know bc when blorbo isn't on the screen or in the scene--i'm always like ughhhh where is blorbooo#but haven't necessarily felt that way about one in particular#so maybe i'm having a weird liking multiple characters an equal amount syndrome asldkja#anon

Tropes I like even though no one asked
So you know, this is my little corner if the Internet and nobody really sees what I post so sometimes I just tend to ramble on here.
Ambiguous/complex relationships
I love when two or more characters are in a relationship but no one really knows the nature of the relationship for example Jude Perry and Agnes Montague from TMA. It's never actually straight up told to us how Agnes and Perry relate. Nobody knows if there's anything romantic involved, not even Perry, herself. There's just love and yearning and just layers of doomed yuri but also doomed platonic relationship and doomed worshipper and God relationships. It's just so aitgoyri9y5ighjt. Also the fact that Jude is confirmed to be a lesbian, probably a butch lesbian, makes this so much more better.
2. Gay flamboyant egotistical bitches
This. This is why I live Elias as a villain. I love the flamboyant egotistical gays, and the way their heels clack to announce they've entered a room and yes, I know the trope is somewhat problematic but let me live damn it. It also weirdly refreshing like here is a guy a lot of ppl hate just because of their sexual/gender preferences and mannerisms but they don't let get them down. Instead they love themselves tp the point it's annoying. Like they're just spitting in the face of queerphobia in a way(even though some of them are the product of queer phobia). Also they just are fun to write and to watch. Like to the point all my villains are some flavour of this trope. Also, when I say gays, I mean gay coded too like Scar from Lion King.

k so before i hop in the shower. with the new princesses of heart in kh, we have four confirmed:
kairi again
rapunzel
elsa
anna
now we can just like. ASSUME that they’ll add moana and make her a princess of heart. that’s like a 99.999999% chance. also she already had a medal and costume in ux so yeah that’s happening. that’s 5!
we can also assume they’re gonna add tiana. cause why the fuck would they not??? that’s 6
we still got mèrida as an official DP but i like. don’t think she fits the vibe?? i feel like she’d be more like ariel, in the lineup but not a princess of heart or w/e
so we’re still missing one. here’s my thoughts on who could be princess of heart #7 in order of how fucking hilarious it would be
Sally (Nightmare Before Christmas) – we’ve already seen her several times but now she has a promotion
Esmeralda (Hunchback of Notre Dame) – same reasoning as Sally
Kida Nedakh (Atlantis) – please
Giselle (Enchanted) – hyperrealistic amy adams
Mirabel Madrigal (Encanto) – she’s like “okay so like. i’m a special princess??” “yeah, i know it’s a lot to take in–” “and it’s NOT isabela?????” “...no?” “oh i am gonna rub this in her face forEVER”
alternate: it’s not mirabel OR isabela it’s luisa or dolores. just throw people off
Elena of Avalor – imagine them making a disney junior show canon
Raya (Raya and the Last Dragon) – she is literally the princess of a kingdom called Heart like come on
Sisu (Raya and the Last Dragon) – would track with the “pure of heart” thing ig. also imagine them just saying the comic relief is now the princess of heart
Namaari (Raya and the Last Dragon) – the princess of a kingdom that is NOT heart but also she has a big gay crush on the heart princess this would give her so many crises
Maid Marian (Robin Hood) – furry world
Roxanne – furry world AND we have to do an entire goofy movie plot
Naminé or Xion – would make me cry
Wendy (Peter Pan) – she’s finally one of the chosen ones
Jane (Peter Pan) – grabbed the wrong darling girl, hook, can you believe
Lilo or Nani (Lilo & Stitch) – whichever sister it would be it would be really funny to see how stressed nani gets over it
Kiara (The Lion King) – 1) from a direct-to-video sequel, 2) a fucking lion
Melody (The Little Mermaid) – ariel’s not a princess of heart but her daughter is
Gabriela (The Little Mermaid) – ariel’s not a princess of heart but this one-off breakout character from the tv show is
Boo (Monsters Inc) – she is literally two fucking years old
Penny (The Rescuers) – just this random baby from an obscure disney movie. jenny from oliver and company is also acceptable
Mei Lee (Turning Red) – the princesses of heart are all actual royalty except for this 13yo canadian girl from 2002 who can turn into a panda when she’s mad
Eilonwy (The Black Cauldron) – disney refuses to acknowledge this movie’s existence but then they put it in kingdom hearts and make it relevant to the story
Ortensia – imagine they finally get oswald into the main story and it’s bc his wife has magic heart powers and heartless wont leave them alone
Anastasia – disney finally delivers the killing blow on the “anastasia is not disney” crowd. sorry guys we bought 20th century fox she’s ours now lol
Sofia the First – come on. tell me it wouldnt be funny. come on
Jessica Rabbit (Who Framed Roger Rabbit) – it would make so many people mad

HAPPY PRIDE YA BUMS!
As the inventor of being gay, I have an obligation to turn up at these kinds of things. We marched from Lion's Arch, all the way to the base of Rata Sum, blazing a rainbow trail across Tyria and shouting our gayass voices to the heavens.
If you see yourself in any of these screenshots, tag yourself! Everyone oughta follow each other. It's solidarity. It's community. It's so's you can read the stuff what I write.
Also, nine out of ten gay Tyrians can't PVP, confirmed. Shout-out to my Deer and Rabbit homies. We'll make it someday.

Who's your comfort characters?
I'll go ahead and start:
All the kids in the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon 1983 (my age 8). All those kids wanted was to get home. It came out around the time of the Satanic Panic. So it only got 3 seasons. The script of what should have happened in the last few episodes is online. Do I prefer the Dungeons and Dragons movies that have been made? Okay the last one was ok, and they gave a nod to the kids in the movie. But I want a cartoon reboot.....today.
Lance from (Voltron) 1986 (and yes, I did not care for the remake of voltron. The original Lance was hotheaded but kind. He had a brain and he knew how to use it before getting his Lion. He was also the edgiest guy on tv at the time. And it was made to look more like Keith got with the Princess, not Lance.
Shatterstar (X-Force) 1991 Deadpool 2 did him so dirty that I now hate Ryan Reynolds with a passion. "I don't think anyone is going to miss Shatterstar, he was kinda a prick". Excuse me? Shatterstar was in comics and on a team before you were even thought of. Plus Deadpools is not impressive in his first runs in comics. I adored Shatterstar. He was an alien in a strange land and had to learn to be more human like. He spent his whole life having to battle in an arena where it was kill or be killed. Oh, he was later on confirmed to be gay. You know what happened next? Left the group to go help his soon to be boyfriend Rictor out. Marvel brought him back after years of him being in comic limbo. Because *now* they like LGBT characters.
Hiei (Yu Yu Hakusho) 1992 - If you knew about Yu Yu Hakusho, you knew most people thought Hiei was always the second best at the very least. Newtype voted him the fifth-best male character of the 1990s as a whole. He starts out as a villain than becomes a hero.
Feitan (Hunter x Hunter) (1999) - Feitan is made by the same guy who made Hiei. You can tell he's loosely based on Hiei as well. But Feitan is kinda "what if Hiei was evil, really evil". He barely talks. He also uses bad grammer from time to time. He also speaks an unknown language. And boy can he fight. Err, he also enjoys torture, but feels "sorry for his victims". Yeah, I know, weird comfort character. But I adore him.
Wei Yan (Dynasty warriors 3 and through the rest, even the game sequels I don’t like.) 2001. Wei Yan also speaks oddly. Some would consider him a simpleton. But I no he isn't. He was the one that came out with the plan that stopped Wei. He's based on a historical figure. In a book written 100 years after his time.
Shigraki Tomura (My Hero Academia) (2014) - He is saved, but was a wonderful villain, until he let that stupid doctor get a hold of him.
So what do they all have in common? Every single one is loyal to people they consider family. They all are men of few words. (The kids from D&D don't count.) You don't need them to talk too much though. They're men that show what they're thinking via action, not words. What else? All are physically strong, Except Lance. All are nearly unstoppable once hey put their mind to it. All are physically strong (except Shiggy at the beginning). That's all I can think of. I also noticed that they kinda all start hating the world, except Hiei and Lance. With Shigraki wanting to just destroy it all. I wonder if that shows how little regard I have for society, Hmmm. Oh wait! And Loki in the Marvel movies. That's it.

2, 3, 7, 8, and 18 for Lance or Hunk :D
Why not both?
The warning/disclaimer from the previous Q&A still applies:
I have not watched Seasons Three through Six in their entirety. I am vaguely aware of certain developments from these seasons, thanks to my interaction with fanworks incorporating them, but I cannot offer any sort of detailed analyses based on events exclusive to them.
With that out of the way, let's do this!
Lance
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
I can't remember who, but someone else said it best-- Lance is very much the average teenager who finds himself in an extraordinary situation. He's cocky, a bit vain and high-maintenance, immature, flirtatious, overconfident, and a glory hound, but, at the end of the day, he's a good kid whose heart is in the right place. He has moments of humility, vulnerability, and homesickness when the reality of his situation sinks in, yet, even when he doubts himself, he always manages to come through for the people he cares for.
3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?
He can be somewhat obnoxious, sometimes. It's an understandable side-effect of being a hormonal teenager whose perspective on things is a bit skewed by a self-centered worldview. Still, I could do without him sexually harassing Allura,
and aggressively getting in Shiro's face when he didn't agree with Shiro's call to have Keith accompany him to their first meeting with the Blade of Marmora. (Even though that call was necessary for the plot and the reveal that Keith is half-Galra.)
7. What’s something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
I like when he's a charming, somewhat amusingly annoying point of view character in general, non-shipping fics, and the sensible comic relief friend to Keith in Keith/Shiro fics, ready to administer a pep talk or hefty dose of common sense in his own unique way when needed.
8. What’s something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?
"Langst" (A.K.A.: writing him as the biggest woobie and victim in the entire universe, with members of his team ignoring or outright bullying him so he can whine and angst about it and contemplate suicide or self-harm over it), attempting to turn him into Shiro, acting as though Shiro being gay isn't "good enough" representation or they were "queerbaited" because Lance wasn't confirmed bisexual and shown onscreen playing tonsil hockey with Keith, treating him like the only character who matters and whining about how he was "done dirty" by this show when Allura and Shiro objectively were handled with the most insensitivity, disrespect, and negligence of anyone...
18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?
I love Lance and Hunk's friendship. They're (mostly) sweet boys who are trying their best, even though they're in way over their heads, and always have each other's backs when push comes to shove.
And, Hunk.
2. Favorite canon thing about this character?
He's such a sweetheart,
and also surprisingly has some of the strongest character development. He goes from being terrified of the existence of aliens and wanting to bail out of sneaking out of the Garrison, infiltrating the quarantine zone, and venturing into space, in order stay in the barracks where it's safe, even suggesting handing the Blue Lion over to the Galra out of fear of them invading Earth to seize it, to adamantly standing his ground against a group of aliens when Lance is injured and in desperate need of a healing pod, fighting to fulfill a promise to a dear friend, and wanting to head into an active warzone to save his parents.
He may be scared, even terrified, but he's always willing to do what needs to be done. Whether it requires him risking his life to vanquish evil and save the day, offering his best attempt at a motivational speech,
being the voice of reason who questions authority,
or ingeniously whipping up a delicious comfort meal with alien ingredients for someone in need.
3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?
The "jokes" at his expense. Be it his anxiety, his stomach issues, or his weight. Showing him daydreaming about and salivating over food, and "comedic" gags about him being too big to fit into certain spaces get really old really fast.
7. What’s something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
I like when fandom treats him with the respect that he deserves, writing him as a three-dimensional character who has his flaws, but can always be counted on to act as a solid, dependable rock for his friends.
8. What’s something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?
Ignoring him because he's not conventionally attractive enough for their tastes, claiming that he's "boring", and reducing him to a one-note side-character to be paired off with Shay or Romelle on the peripheral of the main story, so they don't have to explore him or his relationships in great length, or at all.
18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?
I already stated my love for his and Lance's friendship,
so I'll reply, here, that I also enjoy his relationships with Pidge,
Keith,
and Allura.
(Watching him interact with Sal from Vrepit Sal's in the space mall food court is also a lot of fun.)
----
Thank you ever so much for the submission!
