Operation Beifong in an AU Linzin world
Recently saw The King's Man (2021) and got inspired by the relationship between Orlando and his son, Conrad.
While Orlando refuses to allow Conrad to fight in WW1 to protect him, Conrad wants to fight for his country/nation to not remain idle.
I think this dynamic fits really well for Tenzin and Jin.
Since I have so little developed their relationship in this AU, here's a case where their differences show up.
As Kuvira claims more and more of the EK, Jin had been sent out to some of the towns and befriended a girl there. He kinda catches feelings for her, but nothing serious really comes of it. They exchange letters for some time, until it stops completely.
Jin does some investigating and all he knows is that she and her family tried to escape from their hometown, claimed by Kuvira. But they are now missing or in hiding.
He tells Tenzin that the Air Nation need to step up their efforts to help others, to fight off Kuvira's influence and power.
Tenzin disagrees.
"We can't sit back and do nothing! Just because you don't want to do anything doesn't mean I won't!"
Tenzin's eyes harden. "You will not fight in any war. I forbid you from fighting."
"You can't control me."
"I'm trying to protect you! All you need to do is stay here and guide our airbenders here."
Tenzin is extremely protective of his family and doesn't any of his children involved in fighting wars. He will do so in their place to protect them, but not the other way around. he wants his children to have pacifist approach to violence in certain circumstances, but he cannot control that.
Jin felt like he did nothing to help the girl that he cared about. Now he feels like he has to do something to help improve the world, as an airbender or an individual.
When Su and her family get captured, Jin is so over it. He offers to go with Opal to rescue them. The other world leaders won't do anything about it, and Jin is tired of waiting for others.
Lin and Tenzin seem to have their own ways of dealing with the city, and have not discussed how they will save Lin's family.
Jin and Opal don't go alone.
His sister and her fiance walks up to them as they prepare Juicy for the long-flight.
"You're going to need an earthbender," Mei declares.
"And potentially a firebender," Kyung adds.
Jin and Mei had fought about this mission some time ago. Mei initially declined because it felt too reckless. Her brother also pulled a card, "Your friend killed herself and that's when you decided to speak up! What's the difference now? Our family is in danger!"
They beat each other up.
But Mei will not let her brother go alone.
The twins don't join them.
Bolin shows up last minute and Opal says, "Well...there might be something you could do to show how sorry you are..."
Jin in the saddle, rolling his eyes. "Oh no, please no, Opal...."
"I'm in."
"Fuck."

Kataang children bonding by braiding hair hc
When Kya was a kid, Katara taught Bumi how to braid her hair since she wasn't always around to do it.
Whenever Bumi would braid Kya's hair, they would talk a lot. That time became their bonding sessions when they would talk about literally everything; from how parents annoyed them to their love interests.
Soon before Bumi moved out to join the United Forces, Kya asked him to teach Tenzin how to braid her hair since she couldn't do it herself.
Kya and Tenzin talked too, but it made her even more jealous of how much attention Tenzin was getting from their dad because he'd talk so much about the things he was doing with/learning from Aang.
She'd listen to him anyway. It was a way for her to learn about the Air Nation culture since she's always felt the connection to the Air Nomad traditions but couldn't get Aang to teach her.
After a while, Tenzin helped Lin get her hair in order after their trainings. Since they'd talk while he did so, they realized they liked each other a bit more than just friends.
Tenzin would braid Lin's hair a lot when they were dating; before they'd go out, went to bed, literally everytime there was a chance.
Later in life, Tenzin forgot how to do all of this since Pema never asked him to.
Bumi, on the other hand, didn't forget so everytime he visited his brother, he'd braid his nieces hair. Both Ikki and Jinora enjoyed it a lot, it became one of their favorite things to do with their uncle.
Seeing how much his daughters enyojed it, Tenzin asked Bumi to remind him how to do it. Since Kya was around, she offered to be their "model".
The three had an amazing time while doing this. It was a great come back to their youth, when Bumi first taught Tenzin how to handle Kya's hair.

Elaborating on my silly little idea where the Beifongs keep flying boars as pets.
Lin owns one, he lives in her house in Republic City, his name is Foo Foo Cuddlypoops Jr (named by uncle Sokka ofc) and he is her best friend.
And it's not just a cute little piggy. It's a huge 600 pound beast. It's very protective of his human. I like to imagine flying boars are like semi magical creatures that live super long. So Foo Foo was a piglet when Lin was a kid and they're best friends.
Foo Foo is Tenzin's NEMESIS. This boar hated Tenzin even before he broke up with Lin. Foo Foo would sit on Tenzin and chew on his robes. When Tenzin broke up with Lin, she unleashed her boar onto Air Temple Island. Also i just imagine Tenzin flying on Oogi and the Lin just pulling up on her winged boar, like:

linumi is your accidental baby are they still here...
about Bumi's reaction to pregnancy
I think that Lin would already have a mental terrain prepared for bad reactions (she had a bad reaction, I didn't want to imagine him
She calls him to her house and he goes without much pressure, they are friends, they have always been nothing out of the routine
I think he knocks on the door, Lin opens it and says: I'm pregnant and it's yours, yes I know, without any preparation... but no one prepared her, there's no blame
beifong didn't expect the avatar's eldest son to just cry... and a lot, by the way
Happiness and panic raced through your head at a frightening speed
by god the woman he loved (he's not a homewrecker trying to get in the way of his brother and lin's love, but thank you for that Tenzin) was pregnant with HIS child
Yes, he never wanted to have children, his mind had a lot on his mind but now it seemed perfect
romanticized because let's face it, canon linumi wouldn't have children but my linumi au want this baby - and so do I
Lin had to calm him down for an hour and a half, she was afraid that the man would dehydrate, there were a lot of tears - but it was the best reaction that ever crossed the woman's mind
Toph arrived shortly after to chat with Bumi

Linzin cuddles and marshmallows?
"What the hell?" Toph said as she went to open the front door of her house. "Twinkletoes Junior. I could sense you shivering the moment you set foot on the ground. What are you doing flying in a snowstorm?
Tenzin stood shivering with one hand on his retracted glider. The other hand was up, ready to knock for entry. He had a bashful smile on his face and he scratched the back of his neck. The snow outside had already accumulated up past the tops of his feet and didn't show signs of letting up. "I came to see Lin," he admitted.
"Get in here before your mom kicks my ass for letting you get hypothermia."
The young airbender shuffled inside and took his shoes off, putting his glider by the door.
"Lin!" Toph yelled. "Your idiot boyfriend is here! Come deal with him!"
"What?" Lin shouted from her room. Her thudding footsteps came down the stairs. "What are you doing here, Tenz?"
"We had plans." Tenzin deadpanned.
Lin scoffed. "We had plans to go to the outdoor mall. Which, as you're aware, is outdoors. You know I hate the cold."
"I know." Tenzin's teeth clattered from his shivering. "I still thought we could hang out though."
"Why are you shivering? Don't you have built-in heating or something?"
Tenzin frowned. "I still haven't figured that one out yet."
Lin squinted her eyes at him and sighed. "Come on." She started back upstairs. "You need to get out of those wet clothes."
Tenzin followed her and waited awkwardly in her doorway as she grabbed some clothes from her drawers. She shoved the clothes into his hands and pushed him into the bathroom. Tenzin knew better than to protest outright. He unfolded the garments and saw that she had given him some gray sweats and a black t shirt. He got changed and placed his orange and red outfit on the radiator to dry. The pants fit surprisingly well, but the hem of the t shirt barely came down past his belly button. He was still trying to pull it down when he walked out of the bathroom. Lin saw him and laughed heartily.
"Stop it, Lin. This is embarrassing."
"That'll teach you to go flying in a snowstorm, twinkle toes."
"Don't call me that!" Serving to add to his embarrassment, his voice cracked.
Lin doubled over laughing. Tenzin's face went from pink to red.
"Come on, mom made some hot cocoa." She said as she wiped away her tears.
Tenzin followed her downstairs to the kitchen. She told him to sit on the couch and brought in two steaming cups of cocoa. He graciously accepted the cup and held it with both hands to help it warm his fingers. The sweet smell of chocolate filled his nose as he breathed deeply over the mug. Lin tossed a blanket over his legs and sat next to him, pulling the blanket halfway over so it covered her legs as well. She sat by the arm of the couch, but close enough that her leg and arm pressed against his.
"Thank you, Aunt Toph!" Tenzin shouted at the kitchen doorway.
Muffled grumbling came from the kitchen, and Toph came out and threw a bag of marshmallows on the low table in front of them before she moved off into a different room. Tenzin grabbed the bag of marshmallows and plopped one into his mug. He took another one in his hand and shot a questioning eyebrow at Lin. She held out her mug and took one as well.
The two teens sat in silence and enjoyed their cocoa as they listened to the radio. Tenzin enjoyed the excessive sweetness on his tastebuds. Not many things on Air Temple Island were so sweet. They relied on community donations more often than not. Mugs were returned to the table when they were done, and Tenzin reached for Lin's hand under the blanket. She rested her head on his shoulder, and he rested his head on hers.
They watched the snow fall out the window and were slowly lulled to sleep by the warmth and calm.

I didn't realize the pattern that the Linzin shippers do when we write about oc's children of them. The 90% of the time we put that Lin is pregnant when they broke up and she prefer to hide the child.

Fanfic End of Year Roundup 2024
It's that time again! Fun to look back at what I did.
Published words: 340,437. Last year was 363,588 so I'm remarkably consistent. Weird when you think that's like 1,000 words a day because in reality it's nothing... nothing... nothing... oh god you're trapped on these planes for 48 hours straight let's write to avoid insanity
Longest and most popular fic: Smoke, my Equalist!Asami AU (Iroh II/Asami Sato, 115,620 words, complete)
Shortest fic: Moonlight, for a 100-word smut fic challenge (Iroh II/Asami Sato, 100 words, complete)
First (complete) fic of the year: And Sweetness Follows, or Lin, Tenzin, Asami, and Iroh regroup after the Equalist invasion (Linzin angst, Irosami)
Last (complete) fic of the year: Unwrapped, some lighthearted holiday smut that came with artwork (Iroh II/Asami Sato)
Fluffiest fic: Love and Squid Shrimps, a hibachi grill modern AU (Iroh II/Asami Sato)
Steamiest fic: Probably Leave It On, which basically sex dungeon Amorra (Korra/Amon). Warning, it's more angst than sex.
Angstiest fic: Not really a fic, but I did a daily Whumptober challenge and compiled all the entries into Bad Things Happen to Good People. Nearly everyone in LOK gets it. The angstiest single fic though is probably He Loves Me Not, which is an AU of @kuro-cache's fantastic fic No Strings Attached which looks at Asami and Iroh's angsty roommates-with-benefits arrangement from Asami's perspective.
Saddest fic: A Matter of Conscience, which explores the relationship that might have been between Piandao and Yon Rha (Piandao/Yon Rha).
Strangest fic: I'm disappointed in myself that I didn't write anything super weird this year. For this one I'm gonna go with Or Die just because the premise is kinda out there. A Kuvira wins AU where the remaining RC triad bosses try to murder her. (Viper/Jargala Omo). I promise to write something batshit in 2025.
Fic you probably didn't read but should: 2024 was a great year for quiet little fics few people read. They're not fluff, they're not angst, they're not epics or anything grand. It's hard to categorize them. Not quite character studies but almost? Two I really liked are Decommissioning and After All These Years, which explore Iroh's deep friendships with Bumi II and Korra, respectively. I'd also put in a good word for Corporal Howl's Last Stand which takes a long-forgotten ship and tries to pose, what if they found each other again? (Korra/Howl)
Fic I'm the proudest of for no particular reason: I really love The Draw of the Ocean for the worldbuilding. I had so much fun imagining a stubborn and rebellious teenage Iroh II out to prove everyone wrong and getting the absolute shit kicked out of him in every possible way. Poor kid. Maybe you shouldn't have signed on with a pirate ship.
What's your AO3 Wrapped?

Another Fic Idea that I will never write
I saw this fan art of Lin in Pinterest and it sparked yet another stupid fic idea. I have read this LB fanfic on FF.net that basically has a plot of Lin rumored to being dead or dissappeared since discovering a shocking subending of the Earth Element (so she is the not the chief of police and basically dissappeared around 2 and a half decades. So this lin is a little bit younger than canon lin). And here's where the story comes in, what if after avatar korra arrives at RC is also the time the rumors about Lin Beifong ressurfaced, it would start as hushed whispers on the alleyways until media would be involved. The blue spirit would make itself known, hiding from the shadows and all that stuff. Instead of two swords, this version of blue spirit would use Sai as its weapon of choice.
It would help people during the equalization of Amon but of course other people would misinterpret the idea, assuming the blue spirit is helping Amon. After Amon's death, the blue spirit made itself known again, causing fear to RC's citizen.
Zuko would definitely hear about this. He would send fire nation agents to investigate this "person" behind the mask. And Izumi? What if Izumi knows who could be the person behind that mask but unsure if its really her👀.
I think the conflict would evolve around the Beifongs of course and the Gaang's. I feel like Toph would be the main reason of this two decade dissappearance of her daughter. It would be a similar scenario of Suyin scarring Lin, where Su was sent to Goaling. But instead Lin just decided to vanish from the surface or that's what they think👀
In this story Lin would still have her scars (thanks to su) and it would happen way back than the canon time. This is where the story of how Lin discovered the new subbending and also a forbidden type of bending before the 100 year war.
Might include Yun as the founder of this bending and Kyoshi was the one who had to forbid this type of bending before it goes out of her hand as the avatar and also to stop Yun
Mstery, Angst, Drama, Violence name it this fic will have it all🙃.
Anyway, I feel like just like Zuko's arc this Lin would definitely start as a bad guy after what happened to her face, having blamed by her bending that she cannot control, why not add the break-up of Linzin for more drama and of course the constant deterioration of her self confidence when it comes to being a great earthbender and an heiress.
But one thing is for sure, the blue spirit is there to seek justice and also like grew to help the avatar along the way.
Why justice? That is unsure but I have this idea that after Lin was cast away, after she went through a lot of stuff (i know white lotus would try to imprison her just like what they did to the red lotus), someone would definitely help her. Probably taught her how to control this forbidden bending and that someone was killed by either Yakone, Red Lotus member or the white lotus themself. But what if it was the Gaang?(the mysterious sifu of lin, contributed to the death of Avatar Aang😉)
Credits to the artist of the art: @aleesatana

🌿[AU Linzin Kids] 🌿
⬆️⬆️Click here for more information⬆️⬆️
Lin found out she was pregnant during a vacation in Zaofu, there she decided to give up her life in Republic City and start from scratch, with the help of Suyin and her nephews.
All that secrecy surrounding the twins has been sustained thanks to a family effort; they do not exist for anyone outside the borders of Zaofu.
(No one except Katara, of course)

I was deep in linzin trenches rn, my babiesss I just love their dynamic together, they're the power couple we were robbed of. I don't hate pema per say, I just think her character lacks the complexity that lin or tenzin have.
Also, the way she told korra to pursue and insert herself into someone else relationship just because she believes she's the right one for her 'soulmate' rubbed me so wrong, mam? please?
and after all these years she still so bitter about lin, and so fuckn rude to her when all lin does is protect her and her high-sugar kids. mam are u still jealous? or do you still think tenzin will be back with lin?.
I feel so bad for her that the writer only give her personality as a mother and tenzin's wife, nothing more. I think, as the madam of the island we should see her being someone in charge of the daily operation of the island itself, like maybe have some scene in the background of her and another acylotes discussing or meditating. Her presence for me is just as a baby maker and if that was it is I fuckin will not forgive the writer to do her so dirty.

My thoughts about Linum's accidental baby still persist...
Lin is exhausted from work, she had never had such a tiring week in her entire life - her head blamed Tenzin's wedding and the emotional shock it had caused.
so she continues to neglect it because she thinks she must be strong and endure the emotional stress until she faints in training.
This had never happened, lin fucking beifong faint? Well, it happened.
Toph is called to the healer the next moment (and I know she's a somewhat contradictory mother but she still loves her daughter).
When she enters the room, the oldest tries to understand why there are 3 hearts beating with her, when she approaches Lin - still unconscious - she understands.
Imagine Lin's shock when he woke up with his mother crying at his side - she thought she was dead and her soul was heading towards the spiritual world.
following description:
""Lin slowly felt his blurred vision improve, his head was throbbing and some parts of his body were numb. What the fuck. She managed to embarrass herself in front of the entire battalion and...
Her train of thought was interrupted when she heard a sniffle next to her, coming from the most unexpected person...Toph Beifong.
Did she die?
To say Lin was scared was an understatement, she was panicking. How many years has this not happened?
Even though he didn't know why he had such a big reaction - and why his mother touched his belly - ... Lin Beifong cried with happiness - after a long time. ""
"Mom... is everything okay?" she asked in a weak voice, the woman called came out of her thoughts and turned her head in the direction of her daughter's voice. Without saying anything, the Republic City police captain hugged her daughter.
"Linny... You'll never be alone, okay? I love you."

whats your take on the Linzin history / the hc she's slept through all the siblings lmao
Lin and Tenzin being together when they were younger is near and dear to me. I love how their breakup was so messy that Lin *brags* about the damage she did to Air Temple Island and that she even tried to arrest Pema!
Their combined inability to Not Get Over It is endlessly funny to me and makes for wonderful dynamics because they both have the emotional intelligence of a dungbeatle when it comes to dealing with each other.
Lin has 100% fucked all three of them. I don't know if it was some kind of achievement to her to bang all the Avatar's kids, or if it is the fact that she doesn't know how to trust people, that eventually she fell in bed with the people she knew and trusted for years (hello bi demi Lin hc). She's had sex with all of them. Bumi and Kya are completely aware. Tenzin is not.

LinZin Headcanons
This is just mine so please if you aren't fond of the ship, just don't bother reading it. I don't really need hate right now. Also, my English isn't that good.
Tenzin has had his eyes on Lin ever since they were children, but because Lin is pretty vocal about not having kids or getting married he didn't pursue her. Not after talking to his father, Aang told him that no one knows what the future holds and he should follow his heart and what makes him happy. That's why they started dating and became a couple, but when his father died the Air Acolytes put a lot of pressure on him and Pema's confession was the final nail to the coffin, that ended his rocky relationship with Lin.
When they broke up Katara comforted Lin instead of his son. She understood why he did it but that doesn't mean she approved or thought it was the right thing. Katara knew that Toph wasn't someone who could give emotional support so she gave it to Lin.
Toph made Tenzin's life a little miserable after the breakup. Showing up to Air Temple Island almost every day and did a lot of pranks on the young Air Master. He tolerated it because he knew he deserved it.
Kya, Izumi, and Su (despite her not-so-good relationship with Lin) sent Tenzin letters of disappointment about the breakup.
After the breakup, Tenzin didn't stop sending Lin presents on her birthday. He didn't gave them to her personally but through someone else, like Lin's officers, staff, or even his sister Kya. Lin knew about it but she still accepted the gifts. On the other hand, Lin stops sending him presents but always made sure that she greets him through Kya. Tenzin looked forward to hearing it from his sister every year. Kya hated being the messenger but she does it for Lin anyway.
When Tenzin and Pema got married, Lin took a vacation for the first time.
Lin got tons of suitors but never entertained them because she knew they weren't the one and it'll be unfair to have their hopes up and end up wasting both of their times.
The early years of marriage were difficult for Tenzin because whenever he looked at Pema, he could still see Lin. He learned to truly love his wife when Jinora was born.
Tenzin hides it but he secretly likes that Lin remained single all these years because the selfish side of him believes that if he can't have her, no one can.
On Tenzin's 50th birthday, he invited Lin. She didn't come but when Tenzin snucked out and went to their secret place he saw a gift that Lin left. Tenzin did the same for Lin's 50th.
Tenzin made a betrothal necklace for Lin and Lin made a pair of metal rings for their engagement. They weren't able to give it to each other and still kept the items to themselves.
Tenzin still has a key in Lin's apartment. However, he only used it whenever Lin was sick or there was an emergency.

Am I the only one who isn't convinced all the Gaangs kids would be so close. the age gaps alone will make having interests difficult.
add in jealousy and different temperaments and the fact they all are children of important people and live in different nations?
Like I can see Kya and bumi and Izumi bullying Linzin and the pair getting closer due to it.
Linzin excluding Su and making her upset. Su gets on the older kids' last nerves at family functions and possibly is a little manipulative brat because she's baby.
while they stick with the people they like and fights break out and the adults are like those silly kids, they love each other but they don't want to hear about the war anymore or that Tenzin did this and Izumi mastered this blah blah.
