The fact that Good Omens S2 was SO QUEER.
Not Just Maggie and Nina (and Lindsey)
Not just Aziraphale and Crowley
Not even just Gabriel and Beelzebub (who is NB)
But the magician shopkeeper and his trans/NB spouse who wore a fancy early 19th century dress to the ball.
Job's son who was flirting with Aziraphale (hilariously played by Ty Tennant giving Michael Sheen heart eyes in front of his dad lmao)
Even the tough macho man in Scotland that Aziraphale borrows the phone from - using it for "Grindr".
Plus of course Michael, Uriel, Muriel, and Dagon also all being non binary/gender queer characters.
With all this, there was no homophobia, no one batted an eyelid at any characters sexualities, sexuality wasn't even brought up, characters just are who they are and like who they like. Its a non issue in the GO universe.
AKA my favourite type of queer representation. The same type found in The Sandman (show not comic).
And whilst there was plenty of drama and not everyone gets a happy queer ending (YET) there was no queer trauma to be seen. No hate crimes, no "bury your gays", no stupid discussions about how HARD it is to be out of the closet in a bigoted world, because the GO world isn't bigoted.
Its SUCH a BREATH OF FRESH AIR.
I know we have similar experiences in The Sandman, In OFMD, and even in WWDITS, but each time a new show takes this very new approach towards queer representation I feel like I'm once again sinking into a comforting hug from someone I love, who loves me back.
Its just really fucking wonderful to see. I hope we keep seeing it more and more often.

A mini drabble based on this (popstar x John price)
Diva
Tw. Minor (v.minor) violence. Protective Price. Feelings.
Tumblr media
Diva.
You heard that term all your career. Men would call it you as you shake off unwanted hands, and women would call it you in interviews and the press.
Your skin had grown used to the barbs they threw at you, until eventually nothing stuck.
You were a diva. Strong, confident, talented, beautiful. That's what being a diva meant to you.
You treated your staff like gold, knowing how valuable each person was, from the seamstress making your clothes, to security keeping you safe on tour.
Your bubble popped one night however, when you got back to your bus after the last show you had negotiated with John.
A tobacco scent unlike John's cigars cloaked the room, while a lone figure sat in the dark.
"Do you have any idea how long I've waited for you, princess?" Came the southern drawl.
Leaning forward, you recognise the ashy blonde hair and dimpled smirk anywhere.
"Phillip." You breathe, shock evident on your face.
"As I live and breathe, Darlin" He says, standing up with his arms outstretched.
"Don't I get a kiss? After all, we were good together..." he trails off, his body moving closer to yours.
Grabbing your forearm so you were flush to him, he whispers in your ear.
"You owe me a hit, Princess. You stole my career."
You shiver under his touch, repulsed by the cigarette and whiskey combination on his breath, you pull back.
"You slept behind my back while I was on tour." You seethe.
He laughed dryly, and a familiar feeling of dread washed over you. The shame, the humiliation. You two had been on the cover of every magazine, the next best thing since Stevie and Lindsey, and almost as destructive.
"Everyone fucks around on tour, doll." He explains to you, as if you were stupid.
"I didnt." You insist angrily. "Now get off my bus."
"You may not have fucked around on tour, but I know what you are like, those carpet burns on your knees that brought you a record deal, whoring yourself out to executives and producers. We are two sides of the same coin, Darlin' and you know it."
You push him to the door, but not before he grabs both of your arms tightly, causing you to wince.
"You owe me." He repeats, his eyes wild in anger, his words starting to slur.
You yell as he pushes you against the closet door of the bus, praying one of your team is out there. Your voice loud enough to stun Phillip, taking a moment to push him off you.
You hear footsteps across the tarmac before the door is ripped open, the flimsy hinges snapping automatically.
"Get your fucking hands off her." Boomed a deep voice, and instead of recoiling, something sparked in your chest.
John pulled Phillip out of the tour bus by the scruff of his hoodie, cursing him the whole time.
Before handing him off to his security, he got a few punches in.
"My fucking girl." You overhear, as you stumble to the steps, eyes wide at the sight before you.
John was in jeans and a green t shirt, a far cry from the fancy suits you've seen him in before, his dark hair wild, his face red with anger.
You take in his broad chest and big arms, his solid frame towering over Phillip's, who was backing off under the scrutiny of John's security.
At last he turned to you, and your breath hitched in your throat.
"John. I-" you begin, but he cuts you off with a stare.
"Y'alright?" He asks gruffly, his gaze roaming over your body. Unlike in the board room, this gaze felt different, feral.
You nod shakily, your heart pounding in your chest.
"I'm okay! He didn't-" you trail off.
Suddenly you feel strong arms envelope you as big tears fall down your cheeks. A familiar cigar and sandalwood scent calmed you, and you held onto John as if he was a life raft in a stormy sea.
Because, to the world, you were a diva. Strong, brave, beautiful, confident, resilient.
But to John. You were his.
................
A/N I know there's a little time skip between the first part and this. But I will be writing John's POV which will make it all make sense 🖤

Back in Bluebell | Chapter 8
Previous chapter | Next chapter
Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Mrs. Mayor?” Mason says after opening the door of his apartment.
“Please not you too” she replies, rolling her eyes.
“Uh?”
“Declan and Ben always call me like that, and it is so annoying…”
“Oh, sorry. I'll talk to them and tell them to stop, though knowing them… Anyway, what are you doing here? You haven't visited me in my apartment since…”
Since they were together. If he could call what had happened between them being together.
“I need to ask you for a huge favour. You and Emilia.”
“Both of us?” Mason says.
“It is nothing serious, don't worry. I just need you to babysit Dani during the weekend.”
“I beg your pardon?”
“Maybe it is something serious. Your eyes are about to pop from their sockets” she chuckles.
“I mean… I…” he mumbles.
His ex, the one who just got engaged to the guy he hated for years for shattering his dream of becoming a football player, is asking him to babysit their kid. A kid that when she was pregnant, he thought could be his, and who then he ended up helping bring into the world. And she's asking him this after he and Emilia had an argument about him still having feelings for her. How did she expect him to react?
“I wouldn't be asking you this if you weren't my last hope, Mason. I mean, not that you are the last person in the world I would like Dani to be with. What I mean is that from all the people I trust and that I know I can leave him with without worrying too much, you are the last one left on my list who doesn't happen to be busy.”
“I run a pub that gets packed during the weekends. I also am busy.”
“I know. But now you have Emilia with you, and things are a bit easier, aren't they?”
“Yes, but...”
“I'm sure you can find a way to make it work.”
“I… we…”
“He goes to bed quite early and sleeps until the morning. You won't have to worry about him for hours, just keep an eye on the baby monitor from time to time.”
“And for the rest of the day?” Mason asks.
“On Friday he's staying with a friend of his, you won't have to pick him up until after dinner. So it'll be putting him to bed and that's it. Then on Saturday he has a football game in the morning, so until lunch time you are free. For the rest of the day you'll have to be with him, but it's just a few hours. And then on Sunday morning too, because Rúben and I aren't coming back until the afternoon.”
“Wait, you are going somewhere?”
“Oh, yes, sorry. Forgot to tell you about that” she chuckles. “Rúben has booked us a weekend away to celebrate our engagement. Some very needed child free time, you know?”
“So you are leaving him with me to go on a romantic getaway?”
“Umm… yes?” she says. “I seriously wouldn't be asking you if it wasn't important, Mason. We really need this time away and alone as a couple, and no one else is available. Our nanny is sick, the others we know and trust are busy, Mrs. Smart is in the city, Lindsey has to stay at Daisy's… You are my last hope.”
“I… I don't know. This… Emilia…”
“I'm sure you'll be able to convince her. Please, Mason. Please” she pouts.
“I… ok, fine.”
“Is that a yes?”
“Yes” he sighs.
“Oh, thank you!” she says before hugging him. “Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
“You're welcome” he says, not moving a muscle or touching her.
“I'll keep you updated with everything, ok?”
“Ok.”
“Great” she smiles. “You are the best, Mason.”
“Yeah…” he says. The best, or the most stupid one.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
“I still can't believe you said yes to this, Mason.”
“I know, Emilia. But what else should I have done?”
“Say no, for example.”
“But he's just a kid. And a really good one. It's gonna be fine, you'll see” he says, giving my hand an encouraging squeeze.
“Yes. We'll see” I say as we keep walking towards Dani's friend's house.
“This also may be a good chance for us to practise, you know?” Mason says.
“Practice what?”
“How it is to have a kid. It may help us find out if we are ready for that or not.”
“What?” I say, looking at him.
“Relax, dove” he laughs. “I was joking. But don't you want to have kids with me?”
“No.”
“What?” he says, now being the one looking at me as if I had grown another head.
“I mean… Right now I don't want to have kids with you or with anyone. In the future… I don't know” I shrug. “I've never stopped to think about it.”
“With me or with anyone? What does that mean?” he says as he stops walking.
“It's just a way of speaking, Mason.”
“A way of… speaking?”
“It means that my life is too complicated right now, and thinking about getting pregnant and bringing a kid to the world is just fucking crazy. I'm not ready. At all. So let's just focus on practicing how to make them, ok?”
“Practicing with me?”
“Who else would I practice with?”
“I don't know. Since you say you don't want to have kids with me or with anyone, maybe there is someone else” he shrugs.
“Someone… fuck you” I say, letting go of his hand.
“Emilia… Emilia, where are you going?”
“Home” I say as I start walking in the other direction.
“And Dani?”
“You can take care of him. After all, you are the one who said yes to this, not me.”
“Emilia… Emilia, wait” he says, showing up in front of me.
“Move.”
“No” he says, not letting me keep walking.
“Don't make me twist your arm, Mount.”
“Go ahead. I'm not moving until you have heard what I have to say.”
“What if I don't want to listen to you?”
“Emilia…”
“Move” I say, pushing him to the side. Though I barely manage to move him. The only thing I manage to do, is let him wrap his arms around me and basically trap me in them.
“Emilia, I love you.”
“Yes, and?”
“And I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said what I said. It's just that… That now that we are together, I can't help but think about the future. About our future. And I see ourselves living in our own house, surrounded by a bunch of kids, and… I'm sorry. I shouldn't have made my dreams a fact when I don't know what yours are. When I haven't even asked you what you want.”
“Yeah, you shouldn't.”
“I'm sorry, Emilia. I'm really sorry” he says, moving one of his hands and caressing my cheek. “Will you forgive me for being an insensitive idiot?”
“I'm already used to you being an idiot, so” I shrug.
“True” he chuckles. “Then do you…”
“Yes. I forgive you” I sigh.
“For sure?”
“Yes. For sure.”
“Thank you” he smiles.
“You know, if our kids inherit your dimple, I guess it won't be that bad. Or maybe it will be bad. Because if I can't stay mad at you once I see it, imagine if they break something, then smile at me, I see the dimple, and I can't get mad at them and ground them. That would be a disaster!”
“What?” he laughs.
“I love your dimple in case you haven't noticed” I say, touching his left cheek. “I always have, it is my weakness. And I love you, Mason. But before making big decisions that involve us both, like babysitting your ex's son for example, can we please talk about it first?”
“We can and we will. I promise.”
“Great. And I'm sorry if I overreacted a bit when you implied I may want to sleep with someone else. I instantly thought of…”
“Him?”
“Yes” I nod.
“God, Emilia. I'm so sorry. I said it without thinking and… Fuck. I'm an idiot.”
“We already knew that, Mason” I chuckle.
“Yes, but… Urgh” he says, resting his forehead on mine. “I'm sorry, Emilia. I'm really really really sorry.”
“I know” I say before we both fall silent and forget that we are standing in the middle of the street. For a while, it is just us and nothing else. “We should probably go pick up Dani. They probably are wondering where we are” I finally say.
“We should. But Emilia…” he says, stopping me when I'm about to leave his embrace. “I love you.”
“I love you too, Mase” I smile.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
“That is my bed?”
“All yours”
“It is huge, Masi!” Dani says before jumping on it. “Sorry. Mummy doesn't let me jump on my bed. I shouldn't have done that.”
“It's ok, don't worry” I smile.
“And mummy isn't here, is she?” Mason says with a cheeky smile.
“Then… Can I jump?”
“You can.”
“But be careful, Dani” I tell him.
“I will, Lilia!”
“Wait, Lilia?”
“Yep. That's your new name. Nice to meet you, Lilia. I'm Masi” Mason smiles, shaking my hand.
“Masi sounds so… stupid” I say, whispering the last word so Dani can't hear me.
“Then it fits me” he shrugs. “Do you think the bed will break if I join him?”
“What?” I laugh.
“I'm gonna give it a try.”
“Mason!” I laugh again when he joins Dani on the bed and starts jumping with him.
“This is really fun, Lilia! You should join us!”
“Yes!” Dani says.
“And make you sleep on the floor because we've broken your bed?”
“I've never slept on the floor” he says.
“And today won't be the first time. C'mon, get down.”
“Don't be a party pooper, dove” Mason pouts. “Join us!”
“We have a schedule to follow, remember? His mum gave us a freaking pdf with everything we have to do. Who does that, by the way?”
“Someone who has been dating Rúben for years and is about to marry him” he shrugs. “He is a control freak, which probably is why Bluebell has been going so well since he is the mayor.”
“Well, I would not like to piss off the mayor, so c'mon. It's time to put on your pjs and wash your teeth, Dani.”
“Fine” he sighs, letting himself fall on the bed. “Masi, will you read me a story before I fall asleep? Daddy always does it.”
“I can tell you one. Do you know the story of the dove who traveled the world? It was Emilia’s favourite when she was a kid, and I would read it to her all the time before bed.”
“But Lilia is your girlfriend. Why did you read her stories before bed when she was little? Was she your girlfriend already?”
“Oh, no, no” Mason chuckles. “We were best friends when we were little, and she and her brother would sometimes sleep at my house like you are this weekend.”
“So she was your best friend, and now she is your girlfriend?”
“Yep” he smiles, looking at me.
“Sean is my best friend. Will he be my girlfriend when I grow up?” Dani asks with a confused look.
“Let's get you ready for bed, shall we?” I quickly say. “We are already running late, and we don't want you to be tired for tomorrow's game, do we?”
“She's right, buddy. You need to rest if you want to stop all the goals tomorrow.”
“Yes!” he says, jumping on the bed again. “Will you come watch me play?”
“If we can, we will. Now c'mon, let's do as she says. She is the one in charge” Mason says with a teasing smile.
“It's ok, Masi. I like her” Dani giggles.
“You do?”
“Yep” he nods.
“Can I tell you a secret?” Mason says, lowering down his voice.
“You can, Masi” Dani whispers.
“I also like her. And very very much” he whispers back while looking at me.
“Ok, enough with being cute. Time to get ready for bed, chop chop” I say, trying to keep looking commanding while also trying my best to hide my smile. They are so cute.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
“Masi? Lilia?”
“Dani?” I yawn. “Dani, is that you?”
“I had a nightmare, Lilia” he says from the door.
“Oh, come here” I say, opening the bed for him. “Do you want to tell me what it was about?”
“There was a monster” he says, curling up against me. “I was scared and called daddy to help me, but he didn't come.”
“Maybe daddy didn't go help you because the monster wasn't a bad one.”
“All monsters are bad, Lilia.”
“Not all of them. Look at the cookie monster.”
“Who?” Dani says.
“You don't know him?”
“No.”
“Well, he is a good monster who loves loves loves cookies. Do you like cookies?”
“I love them!”
“Then what if tomorrow after your game we bake some? Would you like that?”
“Yes!” he says.
“Great” I say, gently running my hand through his hair. “Do you want to go back to your bed or stay here?”
“Stay here.”
“Ok. Then let's make you some room” I say, pushing Mason with my butt. He was still fast asleep.
“What was that?” Dani giggles when he hears him snore.
“That's what keeps all the monsters away. They hear Mason snore, think it is another monster, and get so scared that they run away.”
“Oh, Masi” he giggles again.
“You are safe here with us, Dani. Go to sleep.”
“Ok” he says before hugging me. “Good night, Lilia.”
“Good night, Dani” I reply, hugging him back.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
“And Lilia and I made cookies, mummy! They were sooooooo good! We ate them all, sorry” Dani says.
“It's ok” his mum smiles.
“And then I went to the park with Masi and we played football, and then we went to the pub to help Lilia, and she gave me chocolate milk in a glass like the ones she uses, and Declan said she wanted one too, but I told him he was too old for it” he giggles. “And daddy, did you see all the drawings I made for Lilia and Masi? Look!” he says, taking Rúben’s hand and dragging him to the corner of the pub where we had put them all. “This is you and mummy, and this is Dixie running to bite Declan because he doesn't like cats, and this is Masi and Lilia, and this is the cookie monster! Did you know there are good monsters too, daddy?”
“I didn't, no” Rúben says.
“And mummy!” Dani says, letting go of his dad and running towards her again. “We made a den in Masi's living room and we had a secret dinner!”
“A secret dinner?”
“One we can't tell you about. It is our secret” Mason winks at Dani, making him giggle.
“What…”
“Pizza” I whisper to Rúben. “Don't tell her we skipped the pdf.”
“Ok” he chuckles.
“And today we also had breakfast in the den and we played so much, mummy! But I also help them tidy up and even clean the pub! Mason said that when I'm older, I can help him with the beers.”
“Yes. When you are older” she says, giving Mason a not very friendly look. “But it looks like you had lots of fun, didn't you?”
“Yes!” Dani jumps. “Masi and Lilia are the best! Can I stay with them again when you and daddy have to go? Please?”
“I…”
“Of course!” I smile, everyone looking at me with a surprised look. “But let us know in advance so we can organise ourselves.”
“Yes. Sure. Umm… We should get going. It is almost dinner time, Dani” his mum says.
“Fine…” he sighs. “Thank you, Masi” he says, running towards Mason and hugging him.
“You're welcome, buddy.”
“And thank you, Lilia” he says before running towards me and doing the same. “You are the best girlfriend Masi has ever had!”
“Oh. Thank you” I say. Awkward? Very much.
“C'mon, Dani” Rúben says, picking him up. “And thank you for staying with him, guys. We really appreciate it.”
“No problem” Mason smiles.
“Bye, Masi! Bye, Lilia!” Dani waves as they leave.
“Bye!” I weave back.
“That was… unexpected.”
“What?” I say once it is just me and Mason in the pub.
“You saying of course to Dani staying with us again.”
“Well, you were right. He is a great kid” I shrug.
“Just that?”
“Yeah” I shrug again.
“And have you changed your mind about anything else?” he says, wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me against his body.
“Anything else?” I ask.
“Yes. Like… I don't know. Some mini versions of us running around the pub and causing chaos, for example?”
“Oh… that.”
“I don't want to pressure you or anything, but during the whole weekend I couldn't help but notice the way you looked at me when I was with Dani, and more than once I caught you taking sneaky photos and videos of us together.”
“I don't know what you are talking about.”
“Of course not, dove” he laughs. “But more importantly… I saw how you took care of him, the way you behaved around him… And Emilia, if one of the things that worries you is if you are going to be a good mum because of everything that has happened in your life, you mustn't. Because if one day we have kids, you are going to be the best mum ever.”
“You think?”
“I do” he says, caressing my cheek.
“I also think you are also going to be the best dad ever, Mase.”
“You think?” he smiles.
“I do. I don't know when or if it'll be with me, but…”
“Emilia, I'm planning on spending the rest of my life with you. So if one day I become a father, it'll be with you or with none else.”
“But what if… What if I'm never free? I don't want you to waste your life while waiting for me, Mason. I can't do that to you.”
“What did I just say, Emilia? I'm going to spend the rest of my life with you. Only you. And I don't care how long I have to wait until you are free, because all that time would have been worth it. You are worth it.”
“Why are you so perfect, Mason?”
“Me? Perfect? I don't know what you are talking about” he says, wiping away my tears.
“Liar” I chuckle. “I love you so much, Mason. So so much.”
“So do I, little dove” he smiles. “And speaking of doves…” he says before moving behind the counter and getting a big envelope.
“What is that?”
“A gift.”
“For me?”
“For you” he smiles.
“Ok…” I say, nervously opening it. “Mason!” I gasp when I see what is inside it. “How… what…”
“One night not long after you came back to Bluebell I was scrolling on my phone, and I somehow ended up googling it, looking if it was still available or not. I found it in a second hand shop, and didn't think twice and bought it. Since then I've kept it hidden in my place waiting for the right moment to give it to you, and after telling Dani the story the other night, I thought it was time.”
“And then you say you aren't perfect, Mase” I chuckle, wiping away my tears while looking at what was inside the envelope: a copy of the book he would read me all the time when we were kids and that I loved so much, the one about the dove travelling the world.
“I'm not. But if you keep saying, I may start believing it” he smirks. “Do you like it?”
“I love it, Mason. I love it so much” I say before throwing myself and hugging him. “Thank you.”
“You're welcome, my little dove” he replies, squeezing me back. “You're welcome.”

Amelia Rose Thorndyke (movie Amy Rose)
I know there’s a slim chance of this happening but I think it would be interesting if they gave the human characters from Sonic X another chance, the Thorndyke to be more specific.
Context: (probably take place in movie 3)
Backstory- Just like in the show, Chris is a pretty lonely kid until Amy Rose crashes into his life 6-7 years ago (literally crashing into their family pool). After a late-night rescue, Chris takes in the small pink hedgehog to make sure it’s OK. Chris originally wanted to keep Amy a secret, but those plans were ruined the very next morning when Chuck, Ella, and Mr. Tanaka discovered her when Chris was trying to find food suitable for the little pink hedgehog. They were a bit skeptical at first, but after some convincing from Chris’s end was allowed to stay until he could confront his parents about it. Chris was concerned that their growing friendship would be cut short once his parents returned, luckily Amy managed to warm her way into the hearts of everyone in the household, even his parents and uncle. Years later Amy Rose is considered a part of the family and is spoiled with love thanks to Lindsey and Ella. Over the years Amy was able to chase away Chris’s loneliness but unfortunately not her own. Although Amy spends much of her time with Chris and her family, she feels isolated from the outside world. She understands the rules set by Mr. And Mrs.Thorndyke to never go outside to keep her safe, but she still can’t help but feel sad that she can’t meet anyone new or someone like her.
Those feelings come to an end when a shocking new cast reveals three beings that were like her, the blue hedgehog the most. The second the story was over Amy rushed over to her parents begging them to take her to green hills to meet these heroes. They immediately shoot down the idea, saying it’s too dangerous, and it could be a trap. This leads to a heated argument between the three ending with Amy being grounded until further notice. Feeling defeated Amy goes to her room as told. Left alone with her thoughts once again she came to one conclusion, she was going to take things into her own hands. That night she runs away to find the three heroes and hopefully go on an adventure to remember.
Sonic and Amy- unlike other iterations of Amy and Sonic's don’t see eye to eye as much at least at the start. Before Amy met the gang she built this image of the heroes that don’t quite compare to who they are. Despite this she gets along with knuckles and tails (though they are nothing like she imagined) it’s Sonic she has a problem with. Not only did he fail to meet every expectation she had for him, he’s also a jerky, reckless idiot in Amy's eyes. Sonic was always doing or saying something stupid getting them into trouble. Not to mention he always left her behind and never took her seriously (that is no way to treat a lady). This prompts her to prove him wrong by jumping head-first into danger that she believes she can handle (she is a bit of a hypocrite). On Sonic’s end, he sees Amy as a spoiled reckless brat who doesn’t understand anything. It’s a bit harsh but it's hard not to think that she is constantly getting into trouble when she can barely control her powers and keep making things difficult when he tries to leave her somewhere safe (sonic is also a hypocrite). Worst of all she left behind a perfectly good family to go on an “adventure”. Sonic would have done anything to have Tom and Maddie as a family on day one, so Amy's drives frustrated him. These frustrations grow during the adventure eventually leading to a heated argument between the two hedgehogs (similar to the argument Sonic had with Tom in the first film). Amy leaves the team hurt and conflicted by her original hope and goal.
“Was she selfish for running away in hopes of meeting others like her? Should she just return home where she’d be safe and out of their way?” She couldn’t help but feel guilty for her behavior towards the team (specifically Sonic) and her parents. She had come all this way to meet them only to show how much of a burden she was and she probably had her family worried sick. Wanting to set things right she decided to head back to the team to give them a proper apology before returning home where she would be out of their hair (quills) for good. Before she can do anything she gets kidnapped by Eggman or Shadow.
Back with team Sonic, Knuckles and Tails are disappointed by how Sonic handled things. They agree that Amy can be a bit of a handful at times but she has also proven to have her strengths (though there’s room for improvement). Tails even insisted that they have a lot in common if they BOTH take the time to get to know each other. Sonic disagrees that he’s anything like her until he crosses paths with Chris.
It turns out that as soon as the Thorndykes found out Amy Rose was missing Mr and Mrs Thorndyke heard straight to green hills while Chuck and Chris followed their trail to find Amy ( behind Nelson and Lindsey's back of course). This leads to them eventually catching up with Sonic and the gang but still no sight of Amy.
Upon meeting with the humans, they both learn that Amy has been kidnapped. Like everyone else, Sonic shares concerns for Amy's safety, though he lets slip an offhanded comment about her getting into trouble again which Chris and Chuck don’t take lightly.
On the way to rescue Amy, the team gets to know the new humans leading to a heart-to-heart between Sonic and Chris (this could work with Chuck but I think Chris needs some redemption after his Sonic X iteration). Chris let Sonic know that there’s more to Amy than her sometimes feisty nature. She’s always proven to be the most kind and compassionate person he has ever known and is always doing something amazing when no one‘s around to appreciate it (foreshadowing of the scene with Shadow and Amy). He also laments his mistake of not noticing sooner how lonely and isolated Amy felt which caught Sonic’s attention. As Chris continues he reveals to Sonic how having a family from the beginning Amy never had as much freedom to explore or had any friends of her own. She didn’t even know there were others like her a couple of weeks ago. Knowing this Sonic felt he owed Amy a second chance and maybe an apology.
Fast forward after rescuing Amy, Shadow, and Amy’s scene, the team saves the world (this going on long enough)
With the day bringing save and families reunited Sonic and Amy meet face to face once again. Before Sonic can voice his apology Amy starts to tearfully apologize to Sonic about her behavior. To comfort her, Sonic hugs Amy telling her he’s sorry he wasn’t the nicest guy either. Sonic even suggests that they could start over and she can join the team. Amy agrees to start over but suggests that she hold off on joining the team for a bit. She doesn’t believe she’s ready to team due to her lack of control over her abilities (at the time sonic and Amy didn’t know about the impact Amy had on shadow and how it helped a lot in the long run. Amy also feels she needs a lot of self-reflection after their adventure (she’s still guilty for causing so much trouble for the team and possibly being responsible for Shadow's sacrifice himself).
After some parting banter (less rough compared to their first meeting) Amy promises when they meet again for their next adventure she’ll be stronger than ever.
First thing when the hedgehogs arrive home both get teased by their siblings/family about their new friend).
Bonus content:
Chris and Amy have a sibling relationship, so like siblings, they can get on each other's nerves from time to time.
Nelson and Lindsey both help fund the Wachowski’s expenses that the government won’t help cover for Sonic, tails, and knuckles. Chuck also helps fund tails projects cause he has taken a liking to the little fox (though the project Chuck and Tail work on together can get a bit wild).
Chris, Chuck, and Tails whenever they visit each other work on new inventions together. This may include an explosion or two, much to the concern of the adults (between the Wachowskis and the Thorndyke).
Although Sonic and Amy are on better terms they often have a hard time complimenting each other face to face stating that it would “go to their head”. Occasionally a compliment sometimes does slip out from one of them which causes both of them to become flustered whenever it happens.
Sonic and Amy, both still share banter, though it comes out a bit flirtatious to onlookers which knuckles, tails, and Chris happily teased them about.
After their adventure, Amy loses a bit of confidence in herself and holds a lot of guilt for nearly costing Sonic his life (when Sonic got shot into space trying to rescue Amy) and the loss of shadow. This is one of the many reasons Amy is hesitant to join the team even when she gets better control of her powers. When Sonic learns of this, he isn’t having it, giving Amy a heart-to-heart talk about how she should give herself more credit ( and maybe mentioning how he’s been through something similar).
Sonic eventually learns about what Amy did for Shadow and other “small” deeds that helped the team a lot more than Amy thinks. Sonic gained a lot of respect and admiration for her after that. (He’ll let her know that whenever Amy is being too hard on herself with her shortcomings).
Whenever Sonic and Amy go on their “not date” dates Sonic offers to pay for the expenses despite Amy being loaded. (Amy’s not sure if he's just being a gentleman or he forgot she’s rich but she’ll take it).
Despite having a rough introduction with Ella(Amy nearly gave Ella a heart attack when she first arrived), Amy and Ella have the strongest bond, especially in the kitchen. They both enjoy cooking delicious meals and baked goods for the whole family to enjoy. And whenever Sonic and the gang come to visit she always appreciates the extra hands she gets in the kitchen. The boys also appreciate the food Amy and Ella make for them when they visit.
Mr. Tanaka serves as a butler and bodyguard to the Thorndyke household. He gives both Amy and Chris self-defense lessons to show that he cares about them in his own way (and to keep them safe). Mr. Tanaka was originally on the fence with Sonic due to Amy losing so much of her confidence in herself the last time she interacted with Sonic. Once he gets both sides of the story, he’s more understanding, though he is still protective of Miss Rose when Sonic is around.
Sam Speed and Amy often have a hard time seeing eye to eye with each other due to Sam’s blunt and overconfident nature. Similar to Sonic X, Sam developed a rivalry with Sonic once he learned of Sonic's super speed.

March, 2023 – Nashville International Airport – Y/n’s POV
The coffee you had downed earlier that morning does nothing to stop the way your eyelids fight to stay closed every time you blink. The airport isn’t too busy yet – a small victory, thanks to the early hour. You walk slowly, eyes focused up at the signs as you wheel your carry-on behind you.
There! You think to yourself, finally catching sight of C3. Exhaustedly, you dump your things on the floor next to a row of seats and you collapse heavily into one. You glance around again, then look over your shoulder. So far, it seems you’re the first to arrive.
Anxiety thrums through you, making your palms feel cold and clammy and the back of your neck feeling hot. You’re struck with the sudden desire to just turn tail and run for the hills. But unfortunately you can’t. Just like you couldn’t quit your job at your agency with such short notice. You’d told him you were done – that you were leaving and you’d fully intended to do so. But your boss hadn’t exactly been understanding when you told her you wanted to be transferred somewhere else. You can still hear her shocked voice through the phone, completely shattering any hopes you’d had of being able to escape this shit show with at least a little bit of dignity left.
So here you sit, waiting.
And of course, since the universe is intent on making your life as miserable as possible, he is the next person to arrive.
“Y/n.” Jake’s voice is the same as ever – but this time still just a little bit rough since it’s so early. “I… I thought you said-”
“My notice has been put in.” You interrupt him, wringing your hands together where they sit in your lap. “They just couldn’t find someone to fill in for me at such short notice.”
Jake’s eyes widen just a little at the sharpness of your tone. You wince internally but keep your face deliberately neutral. It’s not his fault, you remind yourself. How could he have known that I love him?
“Oh.” He answers, shuffling his feet a little and glancing down at the ground.
It’s silent for long enough that you almost start talking about the weather or the traffic but you refrain. You’re both going to have to get over this eventually if you’re going to be expected to work together for this last leg of the tour.
“May I sit?” He asks at last, gesturing to one of the seats next to yours after standing there awkwardly with his suitcase in one hand and his backpack slung over his shoulder in a way that can’t be comfortable.
“Sure.”
Jake sits and you bite your tongue. There’s so much you want to say – so much that you wish you had said, but the middle of an airport terminal at 6 in the morning isn’t exactly the place for it.
The silence is worse than the talking but you don’t want to be the one to break it. Just a few months and then I can forget he ever existed, you think – deliberately ignoring the fact that you know you could never forget what it feels like to be in love with Jake Kiskza. Even when he doesn’t love you back.
“How was the ride here?” He asks haltingly, lips instantly turning down in a wince at the stupid question. But at least it’s not silent anymore.
“Boring. Not much traffic, thankfully.” So much for not talking about the traffic.
Jake nods once, chewing on his bottom lip for a moment before answering.
“Same. Perks of an early flight. Beat the rush.”
You’re pretty sure this is the most excruciating thing you’ve ever had to experience and you can’t help but look around in a desperate hope that someone else has arrived to end this torture. No such luck.
“Right.” You answer him, pulling your phone out to check the time. It’s an hour to boarding and surely one of the others will be here soon.
Of course I’m the only tech who also lives in Nashville, you think bitterly, wishing that anyone other than a Kiszka or Wagner were here in order to rescue you. Jake looks just as uncomfortable as you do. He keeps shifting in his seat and fixing his hair when it doesn’t need to be fixed.
After a long moment of tense, uncomfortable silence, Jake opens his mouth – clearly about to say something that you don’t really want to hear, when a loud “Good morning, fellow travelers!” interrupts him.
Sam’s voice makes you jump and Jake’s mouth snaps shut. You whip around to see Sam – looking far too energetic for this early in the morning.
“Morning, Samuel.” Jake grumbles, looking not at all happy at his untimely interruption but you couldn’t be more grateful.
Sam, always good at being entirely unaware, plops himself down in the seat on the other side of you and leans on his knees to look past you and over at Jake.
“Glad to see you’re still a grumpy bastard in the morning.” Sam then looks at you. “And Y/n, it's always nice to see your bright, shining face this early.”
You don’t feel particularly bright or shiny but you smile at Sam despite the anxiety coursing through your veins.
“Morning, Sam. Glad to have the life of the party present at last.”
It doesn’t take long for Daniel to arrive next, a little less cheery and energetic as Sam but still in a great mood. You know they’re happy to be going back on the road. You would be too if… if things hadn’t happened the way they did.
//
The terminal fills and fills until finally passengers are allowed to board. You rise, grabbing your suitcase and you toss your empty coffee cup into the trash. Jake rises too, immediately grabbing his things and following you.
“Y.n…” He starts, fumbling in his pocket to pull out his boarding pass. “Can- can I sit next to you? I’m sure Josh wouldn’t mind if he and I switched.”
You pause. You really don’t know if this is the place for whatever conversation Jake is going to force you to have. You would much rather sit next to Josh, just as had been originally planned, but you can’t help the way Jake’s sincere, chocolate eyes make you melt.
“I mean, if you want to I guess you-”
Once again, the two of you are interrupted by a loud voice, this time coming from Josh as he practically sprints across the terminal.
“Made it!” He exclaims, making Sam roll his eyes and Daniel laugh a little.
“Always the dramatic entrance, Josh.” Danny mutters before walking up and scanning his boarding pass.
“Josh.” Jake nods at his twin, looking as if he’d like to throttle the man.
“Jake.” He answers and then smiles at you. “Y/n! Good morning!”
“Morning, Josh.” He instantly puts your nerves to rest a little, making that knot of anxiety loosen just enough for you to feel a little less miserable.
“No Lindsey?”
Your heart swoops down into your stomach as Jake widens his eyes a little at Josh’s question.
“Um.” He starts, swallowing thickly and darting his eyes towards you. “She’s uh.. She’s gonna meet us in Raleigh. I think she’s going to tag along until El Paso… Just depends on how much time she can get off from work.”
“Ah.” Josh shoves his phone into his pocket. “Gotcha. Well,” he glances at the dwindling line of people as they board the plane and then looks to you, “you ready, seat buddy?”
You glance at Jake and try to ignore the wounded look in his eyes. The stark reminder that not only does Jake not have feelings for you but that he’s also in a committed relationship to someone else… well. It’s enough to remind you why you asked Josh to get the seat next to yours in the first place.
“Of course!” You loop your free arm with Josh’s and give him and Jake the most convincing smile that you can muster. “Let's get this show on the road.”

March 12, 2023 - Greenville, SC
It had been entirely too easy for you to pretend as if Jake doesn’t exist – as if the two of you hadn’t been such good friends just months before. He’d taken the hint early on that you didn’t want to discuss whatever it was that he felt the two of you needed to discuss. You were mortified as it is that Lindsey knew the truth – and horrified by the knowledge that Jake knows how much you’d misread the situation with him. He’d been looking for a hookup and you were the unfortunate one who’d managed to catch feelings throughout it all. But so far, Jake has respected your wishes to keep your distance.
He’s never rude, treating you the same way he would treat any of the other tech people who he maybe didn’t know quite as well. And while the distance stings, you know it’s for the best. If the others had noticed the sudden change in your relationship, thankfully none of them had said anything to you – and hopefully not to Jake either. It really was as if none of it had ever happened and you definitely weren’t counting down the days until Lindsey’s supposed arrival.
You’d just spent the last 30 minutes doing Sam’s makeup – time which he’d spent cracking jokes and talking 90 to nothing the entire time. You’d  just nodded along, smiling and adding commentary when you felt it was necessary. But really, you just enjoyed listening to him talk. He made you laugh – just like all the boys do, and talking with Sam had been a welcome distraction and way to fill your time since Josh’s partner had arrived… time that you once would have spent with Jake.
You bustle about in the makeup room, tidying things up and putting them in their places. You tuck each of the boys’ foundations in their designated bags, along with whatever eyeshadow palettes or rhinestones they prefer. Your brushes have been washed and now lay out to dry on a towel on the counter top. There’s nothing much left to do except pack away Josh’s ridiculous amount of hairstyling products and then you’ll be free to spend the rest of your time however you please.
The door opens but you don’t look up from your task of shoving hairspray bottles into your bag, fully expecting it to only be Josh or Danny coming back in for a last minute touch up. It’s only about an hour before they go on.
“Hey.”
You startle, whipping around at the sound of his voice. Jake stands in the doorway, waiting just on the threshold as if not daring to enter fully until you invite him to do so.
“Hi.” Your voice comes out surprisingly steady despite the way your heart is racing. This is the first time that you’ve been alone with him. “Something I can do for you?”
Jake nods, taking a single, hesitant step into the room and then stopping again.
“Just something small.” His eyes find yours in the mirror as you turn your back to him, trying to get your bearings a little bit. “Wanted to change my look up a little.”
You turn back around to face him and beckon him over to sit in your chair. Jake never does makeup – even before all this. Jake takes a seat and looks up at you, not saying a word.
“I’m guessing you don’t want rhinestones.” You say with a smile and Jake’s shoulders relax just a little.
“No. No rhinestones.” He affirms, clasping his hands in his lap. His words are soft yet deafening in the quiet of the room. Your heart races so fast you swear he must be able to hear it. “Maybe just some eyeliner? I’ve done it myself a few times but… I’m not as good at it as you are.”
You tilt your head and smile down at him.
“I should hope that I’m at least kinda good at it.” You grab an eyeliner pencil from Danny’s bag. “It is my job after all.”
Jake huffs a laugh but the sound quickly dies out as soon as you lower yourself to get closer to him. You haven’t seen him this close since… since that night in the bathroom. His eyes are like pools of hot cocoa as he watches you intently. Dark lashes, delicate, pink lips. His skin is smooth except for a light dusting of hair on his upper lip – only noticeable this close.
“Can you..?” You look down at his crossed legs and then back up at him.
“Oh. Yeah.” He spreads his legs so that you can step closer. “Sorry.”
You step between his thighs and lower yourself down. Keeping his head steady by holding his jaw with your free hand, you gently swipe the black eyeliner over his lash line. You tilt his head up and choose to ignore the way his eyes stay trained on you the whole time.
“Look up for me?” You ask softly and he obeys. You gently tug his eyelid down and swipe the black over his waterline as well before moving to do the same on the other side. You use the little brush on the other end of the pencil to blend the color out a little.
“Finished?” He asks as you step away, his eyes blinking rapidly for a moment as his eyes water a little.
You look at him for just a moment, trying to treat him just like any other client and not like the guy you’re hopelessly in love with who’s dating someone else.
“Almost.” You turn around and begin digging through Danny’s bag again, making a mental note that maybe you need to make one for Jake in case he decides that he likes the way he looks with this. You grab a tube of mascara and step back towards him. “Just a little bit of mascara.”
You swipe the mascara over his long lashes, making sure that they don’t clump and then you step back and admire the look. His eyes – deep set and thoughtful, look incredible in the eyeliner. It makes his features stand out just a little bit more and you know it will look great under the stage lights later tonight.
“Now I’m finished.”
Jake stands and takes a step towards the mirrors on the vanity. He tilts his head to the side as he admires himself in the reflection.
“I like it.” He says after a long moment, turning back to look at you. “Much better than when I do it.” He smiles a little. “Thanks.”
“You’re welcome.”
That tension that was present in the airport a few days ago is suddenly back with full force and you wish that the floor would open up and swallow you whole. Jake clearly feels it too and he reaches a hand up and runs his fingers through his hair. He drops his hand, the once brushed through strands now a little messy.
“Here, wait.” You don’t know why you do it – it’s like your body just gravitates towards his without you even thinking about it, but you take a step towards him. Placing a hand on his chest, you push him back towards the chair until he sits back down. “Let me fix your hair a little.”
Jake watches in silence as you grab a comb and some styling mousse. You brush through his hair, admiring how some of it reflects auburn in the light. You set it back to its natural part with the comb and then spread some of the mousse on your palms. You rake your hands through his hair, depositing the product and then twirling the ends around your fingers a little, helping the natural waves to form better. They go easily – as if rebelling against the way he must have straightened it earlier.
“You’ve got wavy hair.” The words slip out without you meaning them to and even you can hear the slight awe in your voice – as if him having wavy hair is some novel, incredible thing. Heat rushes to your cheeks but Jake doesn't acknowledge it.
“I think it could be curly if I really wanted it to be.” He answers softly. “Not like Josh’s but… it’s really wavy when I let it air dry on its own.”
“I-I like it.” You answer him, voice equally quiet. “It suits you.”
“Thank you.”
You realize suddenly just how close you’ve gotten to him. You straighten and step back and Jake pulls back as well – he’d been leaning in close to you.
“Guess you should probably head out there.”
Jake nods and rises, hearing the dismissal in your tone and the shift in your body language.
“Right. Yeah. I uh. I should go.” Jake slides his palms over his thighs, eyes darting towards the door and then back to you. He hesitates, as if about to say something but then thinking better of it. “Thanks again.”
“You're welcome.”
You watch him go, chest aching. There’s a feeling in the pit of your stomach – the feeling that you’ve just made a mistake. You don’t know if it was allowing yourself to relax around him again or letting him walk away.
You shake your head and continue tidying up.

March 20, 2023 - El Paso, TX
Lindsey’s arrival in Raleigh hadn’t been as humiliating as you’d been expecting it to be. In fact, since she spends all her time with Jake – who you’d already been basically avoiding at all costs, you hardly see her at all.
She’d only acknowledged your presence once that first day when she arrived. Just a nod and a terse smile, completely lacking the warmth and kindness from that first time you met and talked. You can’t blame her. She’d listened to you cry and hugged and comforted you – you, a virtual stranger, only to later find out that you’d been talking about her own boyfriend… it’s not exactly the best first impression you’ve ever made.
The El Paso show had gone on without a hitch – just as they usually do, and the boys had invited you and the rest of the tech and crew out for a meal, all expenses paid for. Ristorante Casanova was the place of choice; a little fancy for your tastes but the reviews had been great when you looked it up.
It had been Danny that had planned this – he’d reserved a section of the restaurant that was large enough for everyone to attend. He, Sam, and Josh (surprisingly on time) had been the ones to greet you. There were several other members of the crew already there as well and so you’d sat down at a table in the far corner where their stage manager – who you know pretty well, and some of the body guards had claimed.
Carter is the first to greet you - a sweet, older man who's in charge of security. He smiles widely at you as you take a seat next to him.
“Sunflower! Glad you joined us.”
Carter instantly brings you into the conversation, not allowing you to feel left out for one second. Everyone at your table is kind and fun to be around and they’re a welcome distraction. You hardly even notice when Jake and Lindsey arrive together arm and arm (and you don’t even notice the way Jake’s eyes keep straying to you from his table every chance he gets). Food and drink flows and conversation flows even better and everyone seems to be in good spirits. After you’ve eaten enough to feel like you need a nap, Josh stands and hits his spoon against his glass to get everyone’s attention.
“Hear ye, hear ye!” He says theatrically, eyes sparkling and cheeks rosy from alcohol as he looks around the room at everyone. His eyes linger on you and he winks, making you roll your eyes playfully. “I just wanted to give you all a thank you for making this shit show go so smoothly. At least, as smooth as it possibly could be with all the craziness.”
There are a few murmurs of agreement and light laughter from everyone at that.
“There have been far too many cancellations and reschedules,” Josh continues, his tongue clearly loosened even more than usual thanks to the wine that he’d been drinking, “and I just want you all to know how much we,” he gestures towards himself, Sam, Daniel, and Jake, “appreciate all the work that you guys have done! This Dreams and Gold circus wouldn’t be possible without each and every one of you.”
All of the crew smiles at that and you can’t help the warmth that swells in your chest for this band. Despite everything that’s happened, this has been one of the most wonderful experiences of your life. Not only is the crew full of incredible people, but the band is, too – most rock stars of their stature would never take the time or money to take their crew out for a dinner like this, let alone with a speech of gratitude on top of it all.
“So please, keep enjoying the food and the alcohol and be merry! You’ve all earned it.”
Josh finishes his speech and sits down, and everyone claps and whoops. One of the tech guys calls out a ‘We love you guys!’ to which everyone else shouts their agreement. The boys, all looking bashful but happy, call their love back out to them. Chatter starts up again, and you take the opportunity to slip away to the ladies' room.
//
After relieving yourself and washing your hands, you step back out into the little hallway outside the bathroom, smoothing your palms over your dress a little bit. You feel good. You’ve laughed more tonight than you have in days and everyone else is in a good mood, too.
You stop in your tracks when you look up to see Jake blocking you from the rest of the hallway.
“Jake.” You begin, thankful that for once, anxiety doesn’t shoot through you at the mere sight of him. You’re in far too good of a mood for that to happen now. “You okay?”
He’s got an odd look on his face as he stands there blocking your path but still your good mood lingers,
“I uh,” he clears his throat, “I don’t really know. I think I’m drunk.”
“Ah.” You walk a few paces forwards so that you can see him better in the dim light of the hallway. His cheeks are indeed flushed like they get when he’s had a little too much. “The men’s is right there.” You jerk your head towards the door for the men’s restroom and then start to push past him but he stops you, a hand darting out to grip your bicep. He doesn’t grab hard – light enough that you could easily pull away if you wanted to.
But you stay. Of course you stay.
“Wait.” His words are a little slurred and you wince a little. He’s clearly in a heightened emotional state right now and your mind races with ways to diffuse the situation.
“I think I made a mistake.” He continues on. “With you. We- we were good friends?” He phrases it as if it’s a question but you know the answer already and you know he does too. You two were great friends.
“We don’t have to go through this again.” You answer him, anger beginning to rise. Of course you couldn’t have just one night where you felt normal. And fuck him for making you feel like this. “You’ve already told me that that night was a mistake.Trust me, I’m well aware, Jake.”
It’s like being on an emotional roller coaster. The initial hope, then the crushing disappointment of unrequited feelings. Now it feels like everytime you start to get over things he appears to draw you back in. First in your makeup chair and now this… You’re entirely certain that if he would just leave you alone, if he would stop sending these cruel mixed signals, you know that this would be easier. You know you could finally move on from this.
Good mood completely soured with anger, you try to push past him again but this time he steps forward and backs you up into the wall, his hands grabbing your shoulders.
“No! That’s- that’s not what I meant, Sunflower.”
“Then what exactly do you mean, Jake?” He’s close enough now that you can smell the tequila on his breath. “Because I know how you feel about me. And I swear to god it’s starting to feel like you enjoy having me pining after you. Why can’t you just leave me alone?”
Jake’s head falls, his hair falling down to frame his face.
“I don’t know. I tried too. But you keep pulling me back.” He frowns down at you before adding quietly, “I’m sorry.”
You can’t bring yourself to say ‘it’s okay.’ All you can do is stare at him, feeling suddenly as if every sense has been overtaken by him. The heat of his body, the smell of him, the way his hands are on your shoulders to keep you pressed against the wall…
His eyes drop and for a split second you swear his gaze lingers on your lips before flicking back upwards. Your heart races, chest burning as you basically hold your breath.
“Sunflower, I-”
“What. The. Fuck?”
Jake rears back and away from you as if he’d been burned at the sound of Lindsey’s voice.
Panic washes over you as you take in Lindsey’s face – there’s anger, of course. But mostly hurt. Fuck, you know that you and Jake both look guilty even though you technically haven’t done anything.
“Lindsey!” You begin, stepping away from the wall, “God, it’s not what it looks like. I swear. I’m so sorr-”
“Save it.” She interrupts you, turning her icy gaze towards Jake who’s backed himself up into the opposite wall and is looking at her with wide eyes. “You’re not the one I’m pissed at.”
Jake looks on the verge of either crying or passing out and you feel a bit like you might do either one of those as well. You don’t know what to do as the three of you stand there in a stalemate.
The air feels oppressive and you wrack your brains for something, anything, to say that might make this better. You can’t think of a single, god damned thing.
“You guys okay?” It’s Carter’s voice that breaks the silence as he enters the hallway, his eyebrows raising at the sight that greets him. “Ya’ll have been gone for a while.” Carter’s dart between the three of you before settling on you. “Y/n?”
“We- it’s fine. We’re fine, Carter.” It’s a big fat lie but you don’t really know what else to say. “I was just about to head home, actually.”
You know it’s a cowardly thing to do – to just run away and not deal with whatever blow out is about to happen. But you can’t think of anything better to do.
“Oookay.” Carter doesn’t look convinced that everything is fine but he seems to sense that this isn’t something to stick his nose in. “I’ll walk you out.”
It’s not a question. All you can do is nod and numbly follow Carter out of the hallway. Jake follows you with pleading eyes but Lindsey doesn’t look at you until you’re all the way past her. Finally, she watches you go, giving you a curt nod with her lips pressed together. You would almost feel better if she was pissed and screaming at you instead.
//
You cross your arms over your chest tightly as Carter waits on the curb outside with you for your Uber to arrive. You haven’t said anything to him but you can tell he’s itching to ask what the hell he just walked in on.
“I’m guessin’ it’s complicated and I don’t wanna know?” He finally asks and you nod.
“Something like that, yeah.”
“Are you okay?” You hate the genuine concern in his voice. You don’t really feel like you deserve it.
“I will be.”
Carter kicks a rock and it goes skittering across the sidewalk.
“I’m not trying to stick my nose where it doesn’t belong but… whatever he did to hurt you,” he sighs a little, “I know you didn’t deserve it.”
Despite the millions of awful thoughts that are running through your mind, you smile just a little.
“Thank you.”
“And he’s a fool for not seeing what’s right in front of ‘im.”
To that, you have no idea what to say. So you don’t. The two of you wait in silence for your Uber, Carter’s body heat a comforting presence next to you.

March 26, 2023 - Reno, NV – Jake’s POV
The night at the restaurant has been haunting just about every waking moment since. And when you sleep, Y/n’s look of hurt and Lindsey’s face filled with disappointment and anger swirl around within your dreams and send you waking in a cold sweat.
You know this is all your fault. Y/n knows it. And fuck, now Lindsey knows it too.
She’d been so damned understanding that night when she’s asked about your relationship with Y/n. She’d nodded along as you told her about the drunken hook up in a bathroom. When you’d asked her if it upset her, she’d merely shrugged and said that she “can’t change the past.”
You’d told her you loved her that night and it had eased whatever worries she had… Now, you’re pretty sure that out of everything, that was the cruelest thing you ever did to her.
It had been like walking on eggshells since Ristorante Casanova. You’d explained to Lindsey over and over that nothing had actually happened that night and that you hadn’t been planning on anything happening… that you had just wanted to talk to Y/n. Begrudgingly, she’d accepted your words as truth and your countless apologies but deep down you both know that your relationship isn’t going to ever return to what it was. She’d stopped saying ‘I love you’ back.
You’d declined going out when Josh had asked the night before, claiming to be too tired after the show. It wasn’t a total lie. You were tired, but the show had nothing to do with it and everything to do with having Y/n’s body so close to yours again and the wounded looks Lindsey sends your way when she thinks you’re not looking. Lindsey hadn’t complained when you told her you wanted to stay in – in fact, she’d looked relieved. You’d both gone to bed without saying a word, the silence far more damning than anything else.
She’d been in the bathroom for almost an hour now. The water had been turned off a while ago but she’d yet to emerge. You sit on the edge of the bed, waiting for her – feeling a bit like a guilty man waiting at the gallows.
At last, after what feels like an eternity, the door to the bathroom opens and she emerges, washed and makeup freshly done. Your heart aches at how beautiful she looks – and at the fact that it doesn’t affect you the way it used to.
“I’ve got a flight back home today.” She offers, eyes looking anywhere but you as she crosses the room to where her suitcase lays. It’s almost completely packed save for the bag of toiletries she carries with her from the bathroom.
“I thought you were going to try to get more time off work so you could be at the last show?” You can’t help the hurt that bleeds into your tone even though you know you have no right to be feeling that way.
Lindsey levels you with a hard look. It’s not anger. Just resignation… somehow, that’s even worse.
“I think we both know why I’m not staying, Jake.”
You shake your head even though you know she’s right. But things had once been perfect between the two of you and there’s this voice in the back of your head that’s telling you it can’t end like this; that things could go back to the way they were. You really thought you could love her. She’s everything you’ve ever looked for… at least, she used to be.
“I loved you.” You say wretchedly, the words tasting bitter on your tongue. It’s a shitty thing to say as a last-ditch effort to try and fix something that shouldn’t be fixed.
“I loved you too” She tosses her toiletries bag into her suitcase and zips it up.
Her eyes close as she pauses for a brief moment and your hands itch to reach out and touch her – to comfort her. But you can’t. You lost that privilege.
“I did love you, Lindsey. I swear it. I just-” You cut yourself off, unable to put into words what changed.
“It doesn’t matter anymore, Jake.” She rounds the edge of the bed and comes to stand in front of you. You sit with your elbows on your knees, head down in defeat. Delicately, she reaches out and hooks her finger beneath your chin, forcing you to look at her – to see the hurt written all over her face. “I think we both deserve better than this. I deserve better than second place.”
“Yes. You do, Lindsey. I’m- I’m sorry.”
She steps away from you and goes back to her suitcase. She grabs her phone from the nightstand and walks towards the door of the hotel room. She looks back only once and your eyes meet.
“Don’t fuck it up with her, okay?” She tells you, eyes sparkling with just a little bit of warmth. She really did deserve better than this. Than you.
“I think I already did.”
“Then fix it.”
You're heart feels like it breaks into a million pieces as you watch her go – breaking with the guilt of realizing that you're not even upset.
But deep down, you know why you don't feel more.
It had taken you losing her completely for you to realize that Y/n was the one who holds your heart; Y/n's smile that can light up your world in a way that no one else's can.
You hadn't quite known it yet... that night at the bar. You didn't know how deep your feelings for her ran until you got to feel her wrapped around you, crying out your name and looking at you like you hung the stars. But of course you'd panicked – convinced yourself that she couldn't possibly feel the same. And then you'd let your insecurity speak for you and had hurt both you and her all the more as a result. And then hurt Lindsey too by going out with her. In your defense — if you could even call it that... You had convinced yourself that Y/n didn't feel the same and you were so sure that you could move on from her.
But then you'd learned the truth of Y/n's feelings – from Lindsey of all people, and your world had crumbled around you.
But you refuse to let it stay this way. Y/n... your sunflower... you won't let her go again.

March 26, 2023 - Reno, NV – Y/n’s POV
So far, Reno has been your least favorite place you’ve been to for this job. The air outside is dry as the Sahara desert and you’re pretty sure that no amount of chapstick could help how dry your lips feel right now. Reno feels as if it’s merely trying to be Las Vegas – just without all the neon lights, restaurants, and fun activities that makes the smell of cigarette smoke and foot traffic worth it.
Usually after a show, everyone likes to go out for dinner or drinks somewhere or you like to go exploring a new city. Neither is an option tonight as it seems that everyone is in agreement that Reno isn’t the type of place that they want to have to spend extra time in. And besides, it’s an early flight tomorrow and you have no desire to be up later than you have to tonight.
At least there’s good water pressure, you think to yourself as you emerge from the bathroom, a threadbare bathrobe that the hotel had provided wrapped tightly around your waist. You shove your toiletries into your suitcase – ready for the early departure in the morning, and then collapse heavily onto the bed. Just one more show left.
You’d been feeling much better this past day, feeling less like your emotions were running all over the place and a little bit more centered with yourself. Apparently, being completely and utterly fed up about something does wonders for taking steps towards letting it go.
A gentle knock on the door draws you from your thoughts, along with confusion about who on earth would be knocking at your hotel door – you look at the clock on the nightstand, at 11pm the night before a 7am flight.
You look through the peephole and your stomach drops at the sight of Jake standing outside your door, his hands in his pockets. You undo the lock and open the door just enough so that you can see him fully. He looks freshly showered, his hair still slightly damp at the ends  and curling a little bit – just like he said it did that day in your makeup chair.
“Jake?” You ask hesitantly, still not opening the door fully. “What are you doing here?”
You can’t quite get a read on his face. He looks… surprisingly normal as he stands there outside your door.
“I was wondering if we could talk.” He answers.
“Now?” You can’t help the sharpness in your tone but Jake takes it in stride, merely ducking his head a little and giving you a crooked smile.
“I mean… yeah? I just wanted to be able to catch you when we won’t get interrupted.”
A thousand reasons why you should say no race through your mind, the number one of which being that he has a girlfriend who he should probably be with instead. But logic and Jake rarely share the same space in your mind so you open the door wider and allow him to come inside. The smell of his cologne hits you as he brushes past you and you’re assaulted with the mental image of a freshly showered Jake in his bathroom taking the time to put it on before coming to see you. You clear your throat and lock the door behind you.
Jake stands in the middle of the room, hands still in his pockets, and finally that neutral expression on his face has melted away to something else. Is he… nervous?
“Did you catch the show tonight?” He asks, eyes following your every move as you take a seat on the edge of your bed.
“I caught the tail end, yeah.”
“Did you like it?”
You sigh a little.
“I always like them.” And it’s the truth. He’s good at what he does. “But I don’t think you came here to my room this late to talk about the show.”
Jake nods, shuffling his feet a little and then biting his lip.
“I guess I came to apologize.”
A small, vindictive little part of you rejoices and you speak before your mind can catch up.
“There are a lot of things for you to apologize for. Which one are you talking about tonight?”
Jake winces and looks suitably chastised as he stands there before you. It doesn’t make you feel better like you thought it would to see him so unsure of himself.
“There are a lot of things.” He agrees quietly, “but it’s what I was trying to say that night at the restaurant.”
You can clearly remember his words from a few nights ago – I think I made a mistake. With you. You raise a brow, waiting for him to elaborate. You’re tired of playing the guessing game with him.
“It was a mistake to tell you that it meant nothing.” He continues on, eyes trained on the ground. “It was a mistake to call it a mistake. And I’ve spent every night since regretting what I said. And I regret that I didn’t see what I had until it was too late.”
Your mind goes completely blank as he speaks, brain unable or unwilling to decipher what he’s saying. You’re terrified of misreading this. Again.
“What- what are you saying, Jake?”
He smiles a little, more of a grimace than anything, but he finally meets your gaze with his own.
“I’m saying that- that I want you. For more than just sex, Sunflower. I want you.” He bites his lip, brows tipping downwards in a frown. “If- if you still want me, that is.”
“But Lindsey-” You begin, but he’s quick to cut you off.
“Me and Lindsey are over. She’s on a plane going home as we speak. She doesn’t-” he cuts himself off with a wince. “I don’t love her anymore. I’m not sure I ever did. We’re done, Y/n. We should have been done a long time ago.”
You both stand there in tense silence. You want to scream and cry and hit him for everything that he’s put you through. But you also want to laugh and kiss his stupid, beautiful face. Words have failed you. You’ve spent so long dreaming that he would one day say these things and how you would respond but now that it’s happening… you can’t think of one single thing to say to him.
“I think I just need some time to think.” You finally say to him. Jake doesn’t look surprised by it either.
“That’s- that’s fair.”
“Once we get to Sacramento, after the show… come and find me. I’ll have an answer by then.”
Jake nods and turns to leave, looking a bit like a kicked puppy but you don’t allow yourself to reach out to him. Not yet. He can wait – just like you had to do.
“And Jake?” He turns back around quickly, looking as if he’s trying not to look hopeful. “Thank you for telling me.”
His shoulders drop just a little but he nods and smiles.
“Of course.”

March 28, 2023 - Sacramento, CA
Jake’s words play on repeat in your mind practically 24/7 in the days following his… his apology? Declaration ? You’re not entirely sure what to call it but by the night of the final show you’re pretty sure you have each word memorized.
Jake had given you space – time, just like you asked him for. And of course, your mind has tried to rationalize what he’d said a million different ways as you try to take them as anything other than what they came across as – a proclamation of wanting a relationship with you.
But surely that couldn’t be what he meant, right? He’d called that God-forsaken night in the bar bathroom a mistake from the moment it was over and he’d since been made more than aware of your feelings towards him thanks to your conversation with Lindsey that night back in Nashville.
I want you. For more than just sex. Those words have been haunting you, always in the back of your mind as you try to move about through your days like a normal person. There’s no way he meant anything other than wanting a relationship, right? What else could that possibly mean? He’d looked so unsure, so unlike himself as he’d stuttered out If you still want me, that is.
The words are still on replay in your mind as you move about your hotel room, anxiously packing and repacking everything that you own as you wait for Jake to come and find you after the show like you told him to. If he comes and finds you. The show ended hours ago and you know that there’s a big celebration going on – one that you’d been invited to but had chosen to stay home from. But it’s nearing 1AM… surely he’d prioritize coming to talk to you, right?
As if your thoughts have summoned him, there’s a knock on your hotel room door. This time, you don’t have to look through the peephole to know that Jake is waiting on the other side.
“Come on in.” You tell him, widening the door.
“Sunflower.” He breathes, eyes raking up your form for a moment before he steps into the room. “You answered.” He says it like he’s surprised.
“You came.” Is all you have to say in response and Jake nods.
You’d had this conversation with him at least a million times in your head by now and you’d had a solid idea of what you were going to say. But now, as you look at him with his sweet, chocolate eyes filled with hesitance and just a little bit of hope… it all flies out the window.
“Of course I still want you.”
Jake’s face softens in a way you’ve never seen it before and he smiles – small but genuine.
“You mean it?”
You nod. It feels a little anticlimactic as the words settle between the two of you and neither of you seem to know what to say. You tell him as much, earning yourself a small laugh.
“I don’t really know what to say now, either. But I do know that- that I would very much like to kiss you.”
It feels like the air in your lungs completely disappears as he says that. Unable to answer, you step forward and kiss him first. It’s soft– timid even. So unlike that first time in the bar all those months ago. He’s kissing you like he’s taking his time, memorizing how you taste and feel like he might never get to experience you again.
He walks you backwards until the backs of your thighs hit the bed and then his mouth trails down to your throat and butterflies erupt in your stomach.
“Let me do it right.” He murmurs into your skin, his hands exploring every inch of you. “Like I should have done from the start.”
It feels like your veins are full of liquid fire as his lips trail down your throat and to your collarbone.
“Do whatever you want, Jake.” Is all your brain can come up with to say.
He takes your clothes off slowly, as if savoring each inch of skin bit by bit as it's revealed to him. When at last you’re completely bare and his clothes join yours on the floor, he settles his weight fully between your legs and his palms spread out across your thighs, kneading the flesh and working his way up your sides, feeling every bit of you as if he’s trying to commit it to memory.
His fingers dig into the soft skin of your hips as you arch your back in a slow stretch. Jake’s eyes track every movement, every flicker and twitch of muscle beneath the skin as if truly seeing you for the very first time… as if he can’t believe it. His gaze lingers at last on your breasts, moving in tandem with your heavy breaths.
Then his gaze slides lower. Lower. And when at last it lingers at the apex of your thighs, and his eyes glaze over with lust, you say to him,
“Are you just going to sit there and stare?”
Jake’s lips part at the challenge, his breathing going shallow. Jake is tense above you, so tense you fear the muscles might snap. But his hands are gentle as they drift to your inner thighs, rough fingertips ghosting along the sensitive skin there.
With a stuttered breath he murmurs, “You are… so beautiful.”
You thread your fingers through his hair and use the grip to tug him upwards, instantly slotting your lips against his as soon as he’s in reach. You trace your tongue along the seam of his lips, fingers working to unbutton his pants. He groans into the kiss, tongue fighting desperately with yours. And, just to see what he’ll do, you palm him through his pants.
Jake cries out, mouth falling open, lips still just barely touching yours as he groans.
“You’re so hard.” You marvel, pressing down a bit more, feeling the heat and solidness of him beneath the fabric.
“All for you.” He manages to say, hips rocking forward to meet the feeling of your palm against him. “If you keep doing that this is gonna be over before we start.”
You exhale a laugh, removing your hand.
“You know what I regret the most?” He asks, moving his way back down your body. “From the last time?”
With a grin you answer, “Other than telling me it was a mistake afterwards?” He frowns a little in response to that, dark eyes staring up at you with a look in them that tells you that maybe it's a little too soon to joke about it. “Sorry.”
“No.” He shakes his head, hands splaying back out on your thighs and squeezing lightly. “I’m sorry.” His eyes drop back down to your dripping center. “And I regret not tasting this gorgeous pussy. Just so you know.”
The words set you on fire, starting at your toes and running all the way up to the top of your head. His grip on your thighs tighten and then his tongue is on you – flicking relentlessly. Your body arches into him helplessly as your mouth falls open with a loud moan. He grins into your heat at the sound and a moan of his own escapes him.
“Jesus.” You whine, your knees falling open even more.
“No. Just me.”
And God damn that voice. You didn't think it was possible for a voice to affect you like that but you're pretty sure that if it was possible you would want it to fuck you too. Deep and husky and smoother than whiskey.
This time, the vigor with which he attacks your aching pussy with his mouth should be illegal. He makes a show of it – shaking his head from side to side and growling deep in his chest. All you can do is lay there and feel it – body writhing beneath him as the heat in your belly begins to rise and rise.
You gasp as a rough fingertip prods your entrance, gathering your slick before slipping inside and curling deliciously, all the while he never lets up with his mouth.
“Come on,” he urges, his breath hot on your aching core, “wanna taste you. Let me taste you, princess.”
As if your body was merely waiting for his permission, the wave of white hot pleasure inside you hits its crest and you call out – a noise somewhere between animal and human that you might have been embarrassed about had you been more aware of yourself. And Jake just laps it up as your release spills into his mouth.
Jake doesn’t pull away from you until your orgasm is completely finished and you start to shiver in overstimulation. His lips – plump and swollen, are shiny with your release. Grinning, he moves up your body and kisses you, tongue slipping past your lips and allowing you to taste yourself on him. It’s the most erotic thing you’ve ever experienced. Those eyes of his drink you in as he pulls away and you feel as though you could get lost in them.
“What do you want?”
It takes your brain a moment to realize that he’s talking and a moment more to decipher what he’s just asked. But once it does, another wave of heat courses through your body and pools between your legs.
“I want you inside me.”
Jake groans in answer, as if your words alone give him the utmost pleasure.
“Whatever you want, princess.”
“Do you have-?”
Jake grins and nods his head, rising up from the bed. He steps over to the pile of his discarded clothes (giving you an incredible view of his exquisite ass) as he bends down to reach into a pocket of his pants.
“Would you think I’m an asshole if I said I came prepared?” He asks, turning around to face you again and raising a brow, the foil packet held aloft between his index and middle finger.
Your heart warms at the sight – Jake, confident and relaxed around you as he once was.
“Nah.” He steps back towards the bed, stopping there without climbing back in. “Just appreciative.” You tell him, but still he makes no move to get back in the bed, his eyes scanning over your naked form in a way that feels more like he’s looking through you. You almost want to cover yourself beneath his intense gaze. “What are you doing?”
“Just admiring the view.” He gives you a wolfish smirk and then climbs back into the bed, sitting himself on his knees between your thighs.
As he rips open the foil with his teeth, you take a moment to admire his cock – hard and red and just as beautiful as the rest of him, where it stands proudly against his stomach. He rolls the latex onto himself, biting his lip and groaning a little bit as he pumps himself a few times.
“You’re beautiful too, you know.” You murmur, glancing up at him. A pretty blush spreads across his face and down his chest and it makes you giggle. Even the tips of his ears turn pink. Jake Kiszka – rock god who plays on stage in front of thousands, is shy. “There’s no way that made you blush.”
Jake laughs and murmurs a playful “Hush” and then he’s sliding into you, silencing whatever retort you might have had. He plants his hands on either side of your body, face contorting in agonized pleasure.
The stretch of him is overwhelming and you grip his forearms, arching up into him.
“Hold on a sec.” You whisper and he does so without question, peeking down at you to make sure you’re okay. “Been a while.” You tell him with a blush of your own.
“That’s okay.” He answers, kissing you once – brief but sweet. “Just tell me when, princess.”
After a moment, you loosen your grip on his forearms and nod. He pushes into you fully, making both of you moan. He rocks his hips, still being gentle. His shoulders shake with the effort of holding himself back and that alone makes another rush of wetness rush down to your pussy.
“You feel like Heaven wrapped around me.” His words are rough, muffled by his clenched teeth.
“You can go harder, baby.”
Jake moans at that, upping his pace a little. It’s everything you’ve dreamed of and more to be with him like this – to have him panting and whining above you with each thrust of his hips.
He grips your hips in his rough hands, pulling you upwards.
“Legs around me, princess.” The words sound more like a plea and you’re quick to obey, your legs clamping down around his hips as he starts to move again.
“Oh, fuck!” At this angle, the velvety head of his cock brushes the spot inside of you that drives you wild and sends your muscles taut as a drum.
His pace is slow but his thrusts are powerful, driving into you in a way that makes you see stars.
“Shit.” His head drops down, his skin glistening with sweat in the warm light of the lamp. “I’m not gonna last like this, Sunflower.”
“I’m not either, Jake.” You manage to answer, your own words sounding far away.
“Been a while?” He jokes, referencing back to your words earlier.
“Partly.” You clench around him mercilessly, drawing a loud groan from him that makes you giggle at the power you have over him. “Mostly because it’s you.”
Jake’s body shudders and his cock throbs inside of you. He’s dangerously close but he’s desperate to get you there first. Your eyes roll back into your head when his thumb finds your swollen clit, rubbing in harsh circles in time to each thrust. Unable to hold on any longer, your orgasm crashes into you, stealing the breath from your lungs and sending your muscles twitching and contorting as he keeps fucking you through it. Not a moment later Jake cums with a rough cry, burying his face in your neck as you both ride out your pleasure together.
“Please stay.” You ask him and he nods against you.
“As long as you want me to.”
//
The sun shining through the blinds is what wakes you up. You reach out beside you, expecting to feel the warmth of Jake’s body heat next to you but you’re met with an empty bed. Did he leave? Brows furrowing, you sit up and look around and your worries are instantly silenced at the sight of Jake – in nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist, standing in front of the mirror in the bathroom and running your comb through his hair. You rise from the bed and Jake looks over at you and smiles.
His skin is still flushed from the hot water of the shower and you have to fight to stop staring at the way his biceps flex as he brushes his hair and at the bead of water that trails down the middle of his stomach and disappears into the towel.
“Morning.” His morning voice is like whiskey and you blush just a little.
“Good morning.” As you reach the bathroom your eyes are drawn to a bottle of styling mousse that Jake must have gotten from your suitcase. He sees you looking at it and smiles shyly.
“I was going to ask you to help me style it.” He tells you with a tiny smile and your heart melts.
“Of course.” You step over to the counter and grab the bottle and just like you did last time, you spread the mousse onto your palms and then run it through his damp hair and then twirl it in sections. As you work – maybe taking a little bit more time than is really necessary, Jake starts to hum a tune under his breath. You’ve heard him whistle or hum it before. “What’s that song?”
“Not sure yet.” Jake shakes his head a little, careful to not mess up his hair as you work on it. “I’ve had the tune in my head for a while. Just haven’t been able to think up any lyrics that fit.”
When you’re finished, his hair falls in loose waves that frame his face. Jake leans down and places a sweet kiss on your lips.
“I could get used to this.” He murmurs, the words spoken against your lips as if he's unwilling to draw away for even a second.
“Me doing your hair?”
He shakes his head.
“Waking up with you.” You blush at his words, feeling like you might melt on the spot. “Is- is there any way you could still keep your job with us?” He asks hesitantly and shit you’d forgotten all about the fact that you’d put in your notice.
“I’m sure I could call and get things straightened out. There’s a chance they haven’t found anyone else yet.” You pray that you can stay. You'll beg on your hands and knees if you have to.
“Good.” Jake squeezes your arm once and then exits the bathroom, walking over to where his clothes from the night before still lay on the floor.
You watch him go, your heart feeling suddenly so full that it might burst. You and him still have many things to talk about – conversations that have to happen at some point. But right now? Nothing has ever felt easier than going about your morning routine with him. Jake turns to look over his shoulder at you, tilting his head.
“What?”
You just shake your head and laugh a little at yourself.
“Nothing. It’s just-” it sounds stupid to say out loud but you say it anyway. “Just feel like I’ve waited my whole life for this.”
His smile is like looking at the sun – bright and radiant. He abandons his clothes once again to come stand in front of you. He reaches out, his hands finding yours and interlocking your fingers together.
“You’re everything I’ve been looking for, Sunflower,” he tells you softly, “and I think I just got the perfect idea for some lyrics.”

Mean girls (2024) thoughts
(obviously spoilers for the movie!)
- personally, I loved it. As someone who’s been totally (not) normal about the og mean girls movie since 2015 and saw the musical on broadway, the target audience was me
- Reneé Rapp Regina my beloved. She was the Regina I saw on broadway so this was extra special to me
- MS NORBURY AND PRINCIPAL DUVALL ARE A COUPLE?? “Can you run this?” “Fine but you walk the dogs the rest of the week” “I love you” “I love you too”. I’m so glad she found a good guy after her divorce <3
- Janis was such a vibe. Idk she just reminds me of myself in high school but with my current fashion sense. Weird art kid rep !!
- I cried twice. Once when they showed cady in kenya bc I always cry at musical opening numbers and again when Mrs. Heron said September 9th. THATS MY BIRTHDAY THEY SAID MY BIRTHDAY IN THE MOVIE
- When Damien performed the icarly theme song in french like it was a film from the 1930s. That was so real of him
- I think it’s actually really important for gen z to have their own version of this story. The explicit queerness of Janis was great. Waaay less of the casual fatphobia that was rampant in the 2000s. As someone who grew up loving mean girls, but also relatively recently graduated from high school, I can relate to this one more and it felt so nice
- in a similar vein, I liked the use of social media throughout the movie. It felt real, like how teens actually use it. This movie just didn’t feel like it was making fun of teens, like a lot of teen media does nowadays
- It’s so funny to me that they’re just not revealing what Glen Coco looks like. Not even some random extra. It’s just everyone reacting to Glen Coco getting the candy cane grams, but no shots of Glen
- WHY is Megan Thee Stallion giving input to drama at some high school in Illinois?? I love how she’s getting into acting now
- Also. The fact that they get real tiktokers sent me. Why did I see chris olsen in this movie
- The beanie baby 😭 so real for girls who grew up in the 2000s
- Lindsey Lohan being at the mathlete competition was everything to me. It was my version of Tobey McGuire & Andrew Garfield in no way home
- I thought the detail that Karen’s necklace with her name on it was backwards several times. She’s so stupid and I love her <3
- Speaking of Karen, her expressions were so funny. Just like this for 90% of the movie 👁️ 👁️
- Principal Duvall’s still got carpal tunnel after all this time, huh
- When Karen was trying on different Halloween costumes, I noticed that she had one of the tank top with the holes cut in it like Regina had in the first movie. We love to see callbacks like that
- Lastly, it was a good movie! People who say it’s bad don’t know what they’re talking about. They probably just didn’t know it was a musical or anything about the musical. But as someone who adores every adaptation of mean girls (except for the “sequel”), it was great!! Ppl who hate it just don’t like fun ig

just realized ive been following you since i was in middle school and im Old now, woaw.
even after my persona hyperfixation faded, i still follow you bc live laugh ryuji. and also bc persona means a lot to me.
thank you for posting for so freakin long, geez. ive been meaning to play persona 5 again since i have royal (and all the other ones) on my switch anyway.
im weirdly motivated to play persona 5 again lol. we'll see.
I was just thinking recently that it's been 8 years since I started this blog. I was 18 and now I'm 26!! What the hell!! It's been so fun running this blog, even at times when the hyperfixation fades some. I love p5 & I love Ryuji & I like talking to everyone and making edits and posting stupid blorbo posts
I've also been motivated to play again, I just started a new playthrough with my friend and being back in it really reignited my love for it, lol.
Idk sometimes it makes me kinda sad that the fandom isn't as active as it used to be but also I know it's an 8 year old game and most people move on. Alas I'm known to remain obsessed w stuff long after everyone else moves on. I know it's probably silly to say about a game but this stupid game reached into me and like rearranged the neurons or something idk, part of me lives in it and always will.
Ryuji is my favorite character of all time in anything ever so. I will be here even if the fandom completely collapsed like a dying star. Like idk deep down I will always be that teenager playing p5 for the first time.
Tldr: 3 things in life are certain - death, taxes, and Lindsey phantom-thieves-official Ryuji posting.

Thomas's Birthday
[A/N]: siiiigh…..mental illness is contagious. happy birthday to my stinky 💙 TW: SA mentioned.
“You’re funny if you think I-I’m going up there.”
“Come on! What’s the worst that could happen?”
“Oh, I dunno. F-F…Falling to your death, maybe?”
Thomas laughed and held his arms wide to balance himself on the narrow metal beam he walked on. It was high above the raging waters below, surprisingly steady and sturdy despite the bridge being so old. As he carelessly marched, Sam followed right next to him on the pavement, looking up at him as though he were crazy. He definitely was. Nobody who valued their life would be acting so carelessly around a height as great as this.
Laughing into the wind passing through his hair, Thomas looked down at Sam with a warm grin spread across that pretty face of his. It was hard to resist it, but rolling his eyes and folding his arms up tight to his chest, Sam did just that.
“It’s nice up here! Come on, baby—!”
“No!”
“Saaam…”
“You’re g-gonna fall!”
Thomas sneered ear to ear. “What would you do if I did?”
With a glare, Sam rolled his eyes. “Don’t be stupid.”
Thomas pouted his lip playfully before wiping the look off his face and hurrying to change positions. Sam’s eyes grew huge as he held his hands out in a desperate attempt to catch him if he needed it. He didn’t though, sitting on the beam with his legs dangling over the river. Telling by the way his shoulders relaxed, Sam clearly liked this position a lot more than the other.
“Sit with me,” Thomas said and this time, Sam didn’t deny him. With a shaky start, he hoisted himself up onto the tall beam and allowed his legs to dangle off too.
Thomas pulled him close. Sam rested his hands on his chest and clutched at his shirt as if he were his safety guard from falling. Cute. It was chilly enough to wrap his arm around Sam’s shoulder without being called a total dork for it, so he took the opportunity and ran with it, smiling more when Sam leaned into him instinctively.
“Are you having a good b-b…bir-birthday?”
“A real good one,” Thomas assured him. He knew Sam’s tendencies to worry usually ruined calm moments like this, so it was better to reassure him of everything from the get-go. So, he did just that. “I loved all the presents you got me, the big party, the cake you made me…”
Sam moved in closer. “You don’t even like sweets.”
“But I still ate a piece for you, huh?”
With a pleasant hum, Sam’s hand trailed down his pec. Thomas always loved the sensation of his fingers trailing right over his heart, protected by his ribcage, skin, and expensive fabric he wore. It was as though he were reaching for it. So close, yet so far.
“Thomas, I was wondering…”
The mood shifted in seconds. Thomas tensed and turned to lock eye contact with him to prolong his attention span, only to see Sam dodging it. Staring at his feet, down at the noisy water, up to the star-littered sky, but never into his eyes.
“Yeah? What’s up?”
“At the party,” Sam said, pulling away from his grasp slightly. Just by his face, it was clear something had been bothering him for a while in the back of his mind. He clutched at his shirt a little before continuing. “I saw Lindsey and she looked s-sort of upset. She was calling your d-d-d…your d-…your dad.”
Thomas cocked his head to the side with an amused look, his smile never leaving him. “So?”
“S-S-So…” Sam hesitated, bringing his eyes back to the water below. Despite the clear indication that he was nervous, Thomas’s eyes never left his face. That only seemed to make him more anxious. “I was wondering where h-he was. It’s your b-irthday, so…”
“He was at work,” Thomas hummed.
The explanation popped off his tongue so easily that it almost surprised him. Almost. He knew the reason behind those words coming off so easy — it was because he had said it so much in his life. There wasn’t a day that went by without his father being away from the house for at least an hour. Usually though, it was up to days or weeks at a time. Thomas and Lindsey were older now, so he didn’t mind it as much. They could take care of themselves. They knew how to handle themselves. They were fine without him.
Sam nodded, perhaps because he already knew that would be the answer, before finally raising his eyes to meet his. This time, the air felt stiffer.
“And y-your mom?”
The water below them, once loud and obnoxious, had suddenly gone silent in comparison to all the thoughts swirling through Thomas’s skull. A wave of emotions hit him, then another, then another, before he was able to fix his stunned face back into a smile. It was too weak to even be called a smile. Telling by Sam’s worried face, he knew that he wasn’t holding the facade up as much as he wanted to.
It was his turn to break eye contact and look down. Unlike him, Sam respected this subtle notion and did the same thing.
“…My mother,” he repeated. It didn’t sound real to hear that title coming out of his mouth. With a scoff, he shook his head. “I get it. You wanna know about my mother ‘cause you know everything else about me, hm? You know my dad, my sister, my little brother, all of ‘em. But you don’t know anything about…her.”
“Yes,” Sam bluntly answered. His eyes grew wide with a glint of instability flashing through his eyes. “It was easy to find information on your dad. I see him in c-commercials all the time. Hall’s Robotics…how he made your bionic arm,” he hummed with a slight ease to his once erratic voice. “And everything about your sister is pretty easy to fi-figure out. She’s a v-very…open person.”
“Open is one way to put it,” Thomas sneered with a hoarse ring of laughter. He reached in his pocket for his pack of cigarettes. Only then did he notice how shaky his hands had gotten.
Sam looked at him with pitiful eyes. He turned away as quickly as he saw them.
“You never t…talk about your mom,” Sam said softly. Thomas hated that soft tone.
“You think it’s a good idea to ask me about it, then?”
The question was condescending in of itself. Thomas purposely made it that way as a verbal hazard sign into what he was poking into. Sam understood cues like that. That’s why it confused him even more when Sam leaned in close to his face with those same wide eyes, hungry and eager to jump on any opportunity to learn more about him. To see more about him — Sam wanted a visible, emotional reaction more than anything. It was obvious.
“Nobody else will,” he said. “Freddy, Charlie, David, n-nobody else has. They don’t care enough to. But I care, Thomas. I care more than any-any-a-anyone.”
Thomas looked at him for a long while before turning back to the cigarette between his fingers and a lighter in his other hand. He flicked in on with a dim smile. The flame fluttered and swayed despite the brisk breeze around it.
“My mother’s in the psychiatric hospital. They sent her away there instead of prison when I was little.”
“P-Prison?”
“Thought you would’ve known already. All you got to type in is Hall—!”
“All the l-links about y…your mother have been deleted years a-a-ago.”
Thomas nodded and lifted the cigarette to his mouth. “My dad must’ve taken care of it.”
“Why was sh-she going to be sent to p-prison?”
“Take a guess,” Thomas purred, half-expecting Sam to back down from the offer.
Sam thought for a minute, eyebrows furrowed while racking up an answer, before he lifted his head again. “Domestic violence?”
Thomas let out a ring of laughter. The smoke from his lips hit Sam in the face a little as he swatted the cloud away.
“No, stupid! She tried to kill me!”
Sam’s eyes widened again, this time, with pure horror. His mouth fell agape as Thomas continued to laugh, sticking the cigarette right back in between his lips to take another hit. Their eyes never met in these brief moments. Thomas was too afraid of what would happen if he saw Sam’s terrified eyes.
“My dad raped her. When she came up pregnant, he married her and forced her to have me. And when she did, she tried killing me a bunch of times. She’d try to suffocate me, strangle me, drown me, poison me, all kinds of stuff. And, y’know, my dad sort of knew something was up, but he didn’t want any of the public to catch wind of it, so he swept it off under the rug until he couldn’t.”
Thomas gestured to his bionic arm with a shrug. Sam visibly shuddered.
“Left me with her brother’s three big Doberman dogs when I was four. Public heard about that one. That’s when she went to court and they found out she was bonkers.”
“Thomas…”
“I get it though. Why she did it, I mean. Nobody should have to look at their son and see their rapist’s face.”
Sam reached for his hand. Thomas pulled away in time to avoid it.
“There’s your reason, Sam. You can add it to your little journal and jerk off to it, I don’t care.”
Thomas finally turned to him, ready to look him in the eyes again. He expected to see tears streaming down his face, or at least tears brimming in his eyes, but instead, he saw Sam looking straight back at him with a pitiful expression. Nausea hit Thomas like a brick. He hated that look more than anything.
“You’re beautiful, Thomas.”
. . .
“What?” Thomas laughed nervously, furrowing his eyebrows to showcase his utter confusion.
Sam clasped his hands together between his own and moved closer with that same stern look. Thomas allowed it.
“You said that nobody sh-should have to look at th-their son and see their rapist…” Sam’s eyes drifted low for a moment before he locked contact with him again. “But you aren’t an-anything like him. Your d…dad doesn’t look like you.”
Thomas scoffed, evidently ready to deny this claim before Sam continued.
“Your eyes are different.”
This amused him. Leaving that statement in the air for a few seconds, Thomas smiled just a little more. “Yeah?”
Sam nodded and held his hands closer to his chest. “Y-You…have something behind them. Even if you don’t l…like to show it, I know it’s there. You’re a v-very…hurt person.”
The smile finally fell. Tensing his shoulders up and puffing his chest just a little, his posture alone showed his distaste toward those words. Sam didn’t back down from it. Instead, he pulled his hands even closer to rest his face against them.
“So what?” Thomas finally said. His tone was low and stern, his eyes burning into Sam’s pleased face like cigarette cherries. “What does that change?”
“Nothing,” he whispered. “Understanding you doesn’t change how I f-feel about you, Thomas.”
Thomas didn’t say anything. Sam continued with a smile resting on his face.
“You’re shaking.”
Sam pulled his hands to position on his face and Thomas obliged instinctively, caressing his thumbs right against his freckled cheekbones. He allowed his eyes to flutter shut in Thomas’s grasp. That only made his heart feel heavier.
“You know everything,” Thomas said. His front had fallen apart by this point, so the words that came from his mouth were straight from his mind. No filters, no sugar coat, nothing.
“Are you going to kill me now? Usually you do when people find out t-t-too much,” Sam purred, his face still in utter relaxation.
“…No.”
“No?”
Thomas lifted his face gently. The adoration decorated in Sam’s irises melted him inside. He hated it. He told himself he hated being so in love with Sam Vega, but in reality, he couldn’t have been happier.
With the slightest hint of hesitance, Thomas finally gave in with a look of tranquility like no other. “No.”
Sam blinked slowly to take in every detail of this rare face he showcased just for him. Then, with a soft giggle, he leaned in close. “I love you, Thomas.”
Thomas allowed his eyes to flutter shut, prepared for the inevitable moment where their lips would meet. To his dismay, the kiss never came.
Thomas opened his eyes again. Only this time, he found himself lying in bed all by himself, with only the light of his alarm clock illuminating the room. He turned to it with a shaky breath, slowly beginning to piece together what just happened. The time read 2:52 AM, meaning his birthday had passed a few hours ago. At first, he couldn’t recall when he got into bed that night, but it didn’t take a genius to put it all together — empty shot glasses on the nightstand, music playing downstairs, and a naked red-head was wrapped up in his blankets beside him. She was pretty. Thomas smelled like her perfume.
Groaning, he allowed his feet to find the floor. He lowered his head into his hands in an attempt to give himself a spare second to get oriented, seeing as his vision spun and blurred with every movement. He was drunk out of his mind. Then again, he had gotten like this so often that he knew it wasn’t the worst it could’ve been.
“I love you, Thomas.”
Sam’s voice haunted him. He tried his hardest to shake off the memory and stand up, only to stumble and hit his nightstand. This startled the girl enough for her to jump up with a gasp, turning to Thomas for reassurance. When their eyes met, a wave of nausea overwhelmed him.
“Thomas…?”
Her voice was delicate just as he liked it. Girls with pretty faces and even prettier voices always seemed to fall into the category of “his type.” In reality, those were simply prominent features Sam had and this favoritism was just a desperate attempt replacing them. Stupid. He knew it was, but that clearly didn’t keep him out of trouble like this.
Straightening his posture and smiling, he rocked slowly back and forth. “I need to go get some water.”
“It’s okay if you wanna go back downstairs,” she said as she laid back down, her eyes still locked on him. “It’s your party. I’ll be fine.”
He had almost forgotten about all the people downstairs. The thought of dealing with any of them made him want to bang his head against a wall. But really, everything was making him feel that way at this point. Being drunk and painfully desperate for an ex on a day like this wasn’t an easy pill to swallow.
“I love you, Thomas.”
No. He wasn’t going to let another birthday pass where Sam wasn’t in his arms again. He couldn’t stand the thought of being with anyone else but him. He wanted him again. He wanted to hold him, to kiss him, to touch him, no matter what it meant for him to get it. That’s why he walked over to his dresser with wobbly steps, pulling out a fresh pair of pants and a new shirt to go get him.
“Do you need your cigarettes?” the girl hummed, grabbing the pack from the nightstand on her side.
He turned to her as he buttoned up his shirt, smiling warmly at her. “Thanks, hun. Can you grab the gun from that drawer for me?”
/—/—/—/—/—/—\—\—\—\—\—\—\
His combat boots landed against the roof with a soft thud as he leveled out his weight, trying his hardest not to be detected by anyone inside the house. After all, seeing as it was so early in the morning, he knew the chances of anyone being awake were close to none. At least, that’s what he figured until he took a peek into the window.
“Did you really call the police?”
“You bet your sorry ass I did.”
“…My mom and dad are gonna be so mad at me!”
With a plate of strawberries, Riley laid on her tummy while watching TV, kicking her feet in as if she were a teenage girl in a cheesy movie. Thomas smiled a little at the sight. He tried to blame the growing warmth in his chest on how pretty she was as he moved closer to the glass, preparing to get a grip on the ledge to pull it open. Before he did, however, he let himself indulge in her natural state for a little longer. She didn’t have much of an ass, let alone tits, but she had a perfect body in his eyes. A small waist, a flat stomach, nice legs, and freckles that covered her pale skin. Pretty, but he already knew that before coming here.
Thomas lowered his eyes to her bedroom floor. His heart dropped to the ground as he saw a set of eyes staring right back at him, alert and cautious of his presence. They belonged to her dog, Harley, a big golden retriever whose tail could never stop wagging. Even coming face-to-face with an intruder like this, she wagged her tail and tilted her head playfully, trying to understand him without her sense of smell.
His hand hovered over the pocket his gun was in before he took a shaky breath and loosened up. He couldn’t kill it like this. Besides, the gunshot and Riley’s screams would wake the whole neighborhood up. Even then, it was a thought that still stayed fresh in his mind. If push came to shove and that dog did attack him…
Thomas knocked his knuckles against the glass three times to alert Riley. She practically jumped from her bed, turning to him with a huge smile. It was pretty. So pretty. His heart couldn’t help but flutter from the sight of it being directed towards him. At least, until it dropped into a frown upon realizing who he truly was. She must’ve been expecting Sam.
“I love you, Thomas…”
He could hardly blame her.
Pulling Harley back by the collar before opening the window for him, Riley let out a long sigh of annoyance. “Do you know how late it is?”
She stepped aside to make room for him to come in. Thomas stared at the dog with heat unlike any other building up on the back of his neck. Riley visibly recognized this after analyzing his face once or twice, smiling smugly and cocking her eyebrows up.
“Awh, Harley! Looks like someone’s scared of you.”
Thomas scoffed with a tough front suddenly presenting itself, stepping inside with a playful glare. “I’m not scared of it. I just…don’t want it near me.”
He hurriedly backed away as Harley stuck her nose out to sniff him, wagging her tail even faster. He couldn’t understand dog language for shit and, therefore, couldn’t have been more intimidated by her every movement. He knew Riley found it entertaining and maybe it was, but it didn’t make him feel too hot.
“Okay, okay, she won’t go near you,” Riley hummed while turning on her heel. She walked back over to her bed and patted the spot beside her for Harley to lay down, showcasing the sheer obedience she had for her. Thomas watched in awe. He never saw a trained dog so up close before. Freaky.
“Sooo, what’s up?”
Thomas swallowed hard, his eyes still burning into the dog despite all the reassurance of being safe he was receiving. “…You let it sleep with you?”
Riley ignored his ignorance and pressed forward. “Don’t you have a party to be at? It’s your birthday.”
That finally caught his attention enough to raise his eyes to hers, interlocking their first instance of eye contact. His weak smile grew just a little steadier as he spoke to her. “You remembered?”
She moved the plate of strawberries onto her nightstand before sweeping up both her feet on the mattress, once again showing off her petite frame. She was skinny, so skinny, yet so beautiful. Thomas couldn’t understand how someone, very obviously sick, could be so attractive still.
“Mhm. Not as dumb as you think I am, huh?”
Thomas scoffed and took a tiny step forward. She moved to give him more room on the bed to sit, but he didn’t immediately accept it. “…I know you aren’t dumb.”
“So, why’d you come over?”
It was a perfect layaway into his initial point of the conversation. Reaching into his pocket with a now fully polished grin, he was able to hold up his facade better than ever. She smiled too as he pulled out a set of keys.
“You ever ride on a motorcycle?”
“You’re crazy…” Riley rolled her eyes with a giggle, despite being obviously interested in the offer he was going to pitch.
“Lemme take you,” Thomas hummed. He lowered his head just enough for him to look at her through the bridge of his nose, tilting his head in expectation.
To say she didn’t look tempted would be a lie. Her eyes lit up with a spark of excitement and intrigue, her body tensing up as she leaned forward to ask, “why?”
It was a rational question but not one Thomas expected. Usually girls swooned at the thought of ever going on a solo trip with Thomas anywhere, let alone on one of his own personal vehicles. (One of his babies.) They always went without a fight, always so eager to accept, yet Riley clearly wasn’t falling into it so blindly. So, with a playful scoff, he lowered his eyes to the ground and stuffed his hands back into his pockets, twirling his foot around restlessly.
“I dunno. I just thought you’d wanna go.”
Riley squinted her eyes suspiciously. “How much have you been drinking?”
“Not a lot.”
“Yeah? And smoking?”
“Not this time.”
“Likely story,” Riley purred, directing her attention back to Harley to give her yet another ruffle of her fur. “I mean, you look sober enough to me. I guess a little ride won’t hurt…as long as you don’t kidnap me again or something.”
“Trust me. There’s no one else around.”
“David’s not waiting out there with some chloroform again?”
Thomas rolled her eyes as she snickered, standing from her bed while smoothing out her pajama pants. She grabbed her phone off her nightstand before walking over to her dresser to grab her hairbrush, preparing to pull up her hair. She was getting ready to go. His heart began to race. Not at the sight, but at the idea of being able to get her out of here with him. Alone.
Once she finished up, she walked right on past him and to the window, crawling out as though it were a walk in a park. Thomas hadn’t realized before but she had slipped some cute slippers on to accessorize with her pretty pajamas, steadying her feet onto the roof easily. She stared at him for a long while with a silly smile written up on her face. He assumed he had one too.
“Um, you coming?”
Thomas allowed his eyes to fall back on Harley one last time before following her lead, crawling out the window right beside her. (Less gracefully, of course, but that was to be expected from someone who wasn’t used to navigating himself on rooftops everyday.) Once they both quietly made their way to the ground, using the big tree branches hanging over the rooftop as leverage, they headed in the direction of the motorcycle parked a few houses down. Riley took bubbly steps with bright eyes, smiling to herself despite being next to someone she claimed she hated. Thomas wondered if she felt the same way inside, too. Although, he had a feeling a lot of this joy was perpetuated from the fact she was going to ride a motorcycle for the first time. Even then, it was still cute to see her this way — to see her with eyes like a child standing outside of a toy store.
When they finally made it, Riley silently waited for his instructions. Again, unusual behavior compared to all the girls who hopped onto his stuff without a care or a second thought in their pretty heads.
“I know you just did your hair, but you gotta put this on.” Thomas pulled out his helmet from the opposite side of the bike, spinning it around a few times with a sly grin. Before she could respond, he reached to shove it on her head.
Riley pushed him away with a groan. “Lemme do it, lemme do it, you’re gonna pull my hair…”
Pulling it over her head with ease, Riley now stood in front of him as if she had a bobble head. He giggled a little and pressed his hand on the top of the helmet, shaking it around a little just to annoy her. It did just that, only with her voice being muffled this time.
“Stop it, dickhead.”
“Pfft, you can hardly hold it up…”
“That’s what all the girls you fuck on say.”
Thomas rolled his eyes and returned to his beloved bike, getting into position to rev it on. At least, until he realized he still had to explain to Riley how to sit. So, with a playful smirk, he tapped the back seat and turned to face her. He couldn’t tell how she was feeling under that helmet, but assumed she was probably glaring at him as she approached the bike. Telling by her hesitant body language, she was evidently debating on whether or not this was a good idea. It was a little late for that, but Thomas forgave her for it anyway.
“C’mon, I don’t want someone seeing us. They might tell your parents.”
This seemingly convinced Riley in mere seconds as she swung her leg over to the other side, settling down right behind him. Her hands sat between her legs for a few moments before she slowly raised them into the proper position — to have them planted on Thomas. Some girls wrapped their arms around his waist or belly, but for Riley, it seemed she took the chest approach instead. Planting either hand on his pecs, she leaned into him and turned her head to the side, avoiding any sort of attention she might draw to her face. It was cute, especially since her face couldn’t have been seen anyhow from the tinted shielding.
“…Am I doing it right?” Her voice was softer now as she asked, seemingly getting more and more nervous as time went on.
Thomas clicked his tongue in amusement before grabbing her hands and moving them just a little further up. It wasn’t needed, not at all, but he wanted to do it anyway. It felt the best when she held him this way.
“Perfect,” he said.
She might have tried to say something else before he revved on the engine obnoxiously, immediately peeling out in the road with little to no sign of following any traffic safety laws. Her grip got tighter as they sped down the pavement, lifting her head to be level with his ear.
“You don’t have a helmet!” she practically shouted in his ear, squeezing even harder as they made it to the end of the road where a sharp turn was bound to be.
“Yeah, you’re wearing it!”
“But you—!”
“Relax, Rie! I got you!”
That seemed to calm her down as soon after, a ring of laughter left her chest. Upon hearing the adrenaline embedded in her voice and feeling the grasp around him tighten just a little more, he couldn’t help but smile to himself. She was having fun. She liked it. And that was the only thing he cared about in those moments.
/—/—/—/—/—/—\—\—\—\—\—\—\
It was cold. Telling by the way she shuddered and rubbed her upper arms in a desperate attempt for warmth, too cold for Riley. He watched as she paced around the pavement, her eyes wandering across the pretty landscape and bridge with curiosity. He grabbed his pack of cigarettes from his back pocket and smoked one near his bike as she made her way down the bridge without him, waving her arms about to feel out the sheer size of the ledges side-to-side. It was huge, made as an old backroad for semi-trucks to pass through, though it evidently had seen its better days. The place was abandoned. Graffiti on the ground and the metal beams, broken bottles and crushed cigarettes, and yet, the sight was still as beautiful as ever. Riley recognized that. From the way she rested her hands on the railing and looked down to the water with a broad smile on her face, she recognized it all too well.
“Wow!” Her voice echoed into the wood line he stood at, all the way to the other side of the bridge and down the steep slope beneath them. She turned to him. “It’s beautiful, Thomas!”
“You’re beautiful, Thomas.”
Lowering his head, he saw the cigarette between his fingers begin to tremble. He swallowed hard and took a deep breath, smiling right back at her. “Look down at the water, Riley.”
She did. Her ginger hair flew back and fluttered behind her as the wind picked up, her eyes unmoved from the water thrashing below. It was a chaotic sight, a mix of blues and greys slamming against the jagged rocks sticking out just enough to see on the surface. The scene was identical to the look in Thomas’s eyes as dropped the cigarette and snuffed it with his boot, taking a few steps closer to the bridge. They never left her. Never once. Not when she smiled and climbed out that window and not when the barrel of his gun was aimed toward the back of her skull.
“I love you, Thomas.”
His finger brushed the trigger. His hand grew shakier. Paler.
“You’re beautiful, Thomas.”
To get rid of her, was to get him back.
“Thomas…”
All he had to do now was pull the trigger.
“…you aren’t an-anything like him.”
And in a second, all of the hatred he had for her melted into guilt. The gun visibly trembled now as he took a shaky breath, trying to regulate his thoughts back into what he needed to do. But even after the constant reminder of Riley’s problematic role in his life, he still wasn’t able to apply enough pressure to the trigger to release the bullet. These thoughts shifted into internal pleas to himself, begging to get it over with. All the girls who stood in the same spot she did were easy to handle. One bullet in the back of the head, flip the body over the side, and it was over with. So, why? He couldn’t understand why.
“…you aren’t an-anything like him.”
His father would’ve done it.
Riley turned, maybe in response to hearing silence for so long, and finally came face-to-face with his intentions. His heart stopped as he watched her smile drop and her eyes widen — she was going to do something, run, fight, scream, something. And that feeling of what was to come is what made him smile.
She stared at him. He stared back.
“What are you doing?”
Unlike what he was expecting, her voice didn’t have a single hint of fear embedded into it whatsoever. Her eyes had settled from the initial shock and her posture grew only straighter as she interlocked her gaze with his. It was impossible to look away. Looking away now would give the other a chance to make a move.
“What I should’ve done from the beginning,” Thomas hummed with a sly grin. “I guess I have a soft spot for you, Rie.”
Riley didn’t say anything at first. Thomas awaited for the moment she would take a step back so he could blow her away. After all, a step back would be admitting defeat, throwing all your cards down for everyone to see. And, unsurprisingly, Riley gave him the exact opposite of what he wanted. She stepped forward.
“You don’t know what you’re doing,” she said in a steady, calculated tone, slowly approaching him.
Ignoring these words, Thomas held the gun as stable as he could. “I’m just giving you what you’ve always wanted, Riley.”
Riley didn’t say anything. Although telling from her eyes, it was hardly because she didn’t have anything to say, but rather, that she knew better than to acknowledge his pathetic attempts to raise a reaction out of her. She was reading him. Thomas’s hands couldn’t stop shaking.
“What will happen if I pull this trigger, huh?” he said, louder this time, in a desperate attempt to feel out the control he had over her. “Heaven? Hell? Lala land?”
Silence for a moment. But by the time it was broken, Riley had gotten close enough to have her forehead right against the barrel. Her eyes never left his. His hands grew shakier.
“Nothing,” Riley said.
Thomas stared at her as if he had seen a ghost. Finally, she leaned into the barrel with those same intense eyes as before, pressing harder and harder with every second that passed.
“So do it. If you really think this will do anything for you, for Sam, go ahead and pull the fucking trigger.”
He didn’t say anything.
“Pull it!” Riley snapped, grabbing at his wrist this time.
He fought back in a few moments of frenzy before shoving her off and to the jagged ground. She fell with a hard collision to the concrete, bleeding from her hands and knees almost immediately.
Thomas aimed the gun to her head again. She looked up at him.
“He would’ve blown you away,” Thomas muttered, almost to himself. His once calm and rational demeanor seemed to upturn into erratic behavior as the adrenaline shot through his veins, his skin growing paler. “Nobody would ever find you if I were like him.”
“Like who?” Riley said, this time, her eyes became softer. It was evident the sudden change of tone was a direct result of seeing a side to Thomas she had never seen before. Maybe it was the small amount of drinking he did, or just the pure adrenaline, but what laid in his eyes was something she could only recognize as hurt.
“Like…” Lowering the gun, Thomas turned his head away to look off into the distance wistfully. “…Like nothing.”
Sticking his hands into his pockets and turning back to the direction of his bike, Thomas slowly walked back as if nothing had happened. Riley hurried to her feet and wiped the blood from her hands onto her pajamas, staring at him with a stunned look.
“Where are you going?”
“I’m going to get more drunk,” Thomas said softly. “I need to think.”

the more i realize that lindsey's entire character is about aging more and more in an unforgiving world full of hate and danger but still managing to heal your inner child with the things that same world made you deny or outright made you walk away from
just gets me.
girls are always discouraged from being themselves while also being shamed for not fitting the status quo. pink is a pathetic, girly color to like. frills are girly + gay. dresses are patriarchal + stupid, but shorts are slutty. you fight like a girl = you're weak. you can't talk in a certain tone otherwise you're deemed stupid + unworthy of any attention. insert that entire barbie movie speech here.
lindsey's entire character takes all of that, and throws it out the window. she's everything i as a little girl didn't let myself enjoy. because it was feminine.
embrace what you love.

This argument
Summary:You and Matt got into a heated argument I was gonna say what happens next but I don’t wanna spoil it.
Authors note:I worked really hard about thinking about this while reading other fan fics so yea.I actually really love what i wrote and I hope y’all like it too🤍
WARNING:CURSING
ྀིྀི =paragraph
ྀིྀི
It was a late after you had overheard Matt talking about you to his brother.”Bro y/n is just so clingy all the time I hate it she’s just also been distant but when she is talking she’s annoying it’s been in my head for a while I love her a lot but when she started being distant because of school and stuff idk what happened but I still I’ve her I think”Matt states to nick and Chris.”Hey guys I’m gonna go home bye.” I tried not to sound annoyed or acting like I know anything about what he said.”I’ll come with” Matt says. This shocked me but I didn’t show any emotion I just shrugged saying “k”.We get into the car and Matt is driving I wasn’t looking at him but I was trying to seem normal when he talked to me.I lived not to far from their house it would be like a 20 minute ride.We arrived at the house I went to the bathroom getting ready for bed going to sleep and not facing him.I lived with my bsf Ariana(Greenblatt pretend)But she wasn’t home today she was out with her bf.Matt asked”Wanna watch a movie or a show?” “No” “Oh okay I just thought that maybe you wanted to but maybe we could go out to the gas station and get some snacks or something and hang out”Matt says “No” I say.”Okay what’s up with you are you okay?” He ask “No Matthew I’m not fine!” He is shocked by you calling him Matthew you only call him that when something’s wrong.
ྀིྀི ྀིྀི
“Well then what’s wrong y/n?” “Are you stupid Matt!?”I say while getting up off the bed.”Do you seriously not know anything?!” “What are you talking about?”he questions “I’m not stupid Matt and neither are you I know what you said about me being annoying distant and to clingy but your the one who’s to clingy and do you barely even love me anymore because you never talk to when we’re with other people you just act like I’m nothing am I just your toy that you need when you want to have sex!?Or was it for a bet or something because clearly you don’t wanna talk to me.And someone also told me that you had a girl in the house without telling me what were you doing cheating on me!?I wouldn’t be surprised because you don’t even know if you love me or not!You have to think you love me which is not reassuring. So stop acting stupid!” “I’m so so sorry baby I didn’t mean to hurt you but you are clingy and annoying..” “So first you wanna talk behind my back and second now you’re saying it to my face.wow” “And about the girl thing we were just hanging out it was Lindsey remember her from high school we were catching up” “The way that your just playing it off is crazy can you see that I’m upset and sad but clearly you don’t care because the only thing important to you is making me feel less then I should be” “It’s not my fault that your annoying”he starts raising his voice I slap him “It’s not my fault that we’re breaking up!”you answer.”Your being a big bitch and a brat”You gasp at this comment saying”Get the fuck out of my house now!”
ྀིྀི ྀིྀི ྀིྀི
I’m still going over to their house but only to see nick and Chris.Right after the break up I go over to their house looking extra good because I want Matt to feel jealous.Matt looks me up and down raising his eyebrows before saying”can we talk please in private”he says in a soft tone.”sure I guess.”I say not having any tone”Look I really messed up and I’m so so sorry and I do really love you I don’t except you to forgive me but please I really love you I’ll do anything to make it up to you just please”he starts to let out a couple tears “well I’m sorry for slapping you”I state”I will forgive you and I will get back together with you but-“ I try to finish my sentence until Matt interrupts me saying”Really please please thank you”He was practically begging.”But if you ever talk behind my back again I will chop your dick off I would not hesitate.” I continued on”I’ll take those chances”Matt says he pulls me in for a big hug saying”I’m so sorry I love you.” I hug him back kissing him.
+1
That was 6 years ago I remember it like it was yesterday.me and Matt are now married with 2 kids Myla and Meghan 2 girls,Myla is 2 and Meghan is 4.We haven’t fought since 4 years ago.Matt is still a YouTuber with his brothers.I’m a model and a actor.I haven’t chopped his dick off yet so things are going well.We live in a big house and we’re pretty rich I would say and yea Ariana still lives with me but now she has a bigger room in me and Matt’s house and nick and Chris live together. So yea life turned out great.

I love your caine x Pomni art
I’m to afraid to to draw them kissing again^^’
Hi Lindsey! I saw your reply to a post about being bullied for the ship-- and I would reply to it but couldn't find it, so Im replying here!
I'm really sorry people put you through all that, sweetie! I'd like to let you know that it is absolutely NOT stupid, and even if it is, there is nothing WRONG WITH IT!
Making animations is real fucking hard man, that's impressive! I am careful to stray from sites like TikTok and YouTube >_> I've recently realized how different social media have different personalities. I'm lucky Tumblr has a much more pleasant fandom and-- not to mention: ALL THE SHOWTIME SHIPPERS ARE HERE!! SO I'M HAPPY ABOUT THAT!
Fandom, in general, has been a real gatekeeper lately! I assure you, it's nothing personal with you. You're not stupid, the hate is not your fault. You're doing WONDERFUL and It's nice to see all the contributions to our community! The little guys matter too in my eyes! Goose said she wanted us to have fun, so let us have fun! As an active person in the community, I welcome you with open arms! I hope you're well! 💌

Just listened to the Late Sub podcast from JWS, and Claire Watkins made some really great points about the midfield issues. She basically implied that the USWNT shouldn’t be sacrificing other ppl playing in their preferred positions so Horan could play the 10. She specifically talked about the domino effect of that with Rose playing winger but also mentioned Korbin playing a more defensive role so Lindsey can do whatever she wants in the attack and Jadyn being benched so we can fit Rose on the field. And she made the point that the midfield of Albert, Coffey, and Horan isn’t strong enough to justify this because this isn’t a creative midfield, they didn’t combine well to support the attack, and they didn’t possess the ball at all, which I 100000% agree with!!!!
Sacrificing your entire midfield and front line so that one player, who isn’t even your best player, can do whatever they want is stupid and disgusting. I hope Rose is furious. I hope Jadyn, who was benched for no reason, is furious. And I hope Korbin is furious.

Cat for Tat
ao3 // masterlist
Tumblr media
Summary: Peter was not sure how he would prove to his roommate that a cat could understand the innate human instinct to be a bother to, him, Peter Strahm.
Tags/Content: Fluff, Fluff and Crack, Crack, Animal Transformation, Smut, Fluff and Smut, Eventual Smut
Rating: +18 for explicit mature content
Status: Chapter 3 of ??. Chapter 1 can be found here. Chapter 2 can be found here.
Author's Note:
Wohoo boy, sorry this chapter took so long. Life got in the way with burnout from my job and looking for another job that I just didn't have the motivation to finish it. However, with Strahm's birthday yesterday let's just say I was inspired. I'm also putting a small warning out there that I might take another pretty long hiatus after October 31st since that's Dragon Age Veilguard release date, anddddd I will be playing that as soon as I possibly can. xD
Also remember how I mentioned that the rating could go up? Yeah, this chapter is why T is being changed to E so... be prepared for the smut, and as always I hope you enjoy!
After what felt like an hour of silence the man lying next to Strahm pursed his lips to say “meow” once more before Strahm’s hand covered his lips. He only pulled his hand away as Mark’s teeth grazed his palm, still used to being in his feline form. He seemingly forgot that a nip while he was a cat would translate to a hospital visit as a human.
“Bad.” Strahm scolded him, before realizing how ridiculous it must look to be scolding a middle-aged man like a pet. Still, even in his human form Mark’s blue eyes shone through the dark of the room and pierced the other man like knives thrown around his silhouette. Finally he mustered up the will to ask the other man, “What the fuck are you?”
“Well I’m a man that can turn into a cat.”
“Oh sure that explains everything.” Strahm rolled his eyes and ran his hand over his face, hoping that this all was just a dream. He rolled over and did his best to pull the blankets back over his shoulder despite the bulkier man weighing everything in Strahm’s bed down. Mark rolled over slightly to let Strahm steal the covers back only to roll off the bed with a thud. “What the hell are you doing?” Strahm eked out between gritted teeth. “You’re going to wake up, Linds…”
Lindsey.
How the fuck could Peter begin to explain what was happening in his bedroom? No way that fat ass could have slipped in from the window. Not that Strahm ever had hook-ups behind Perez’s back that he felt he needed to hide. Hell he didn’t have hook-ups, period. A thousand thoughts raced through his head before a groggy voice hit his ears.
“Pete? You okay?” He heard Lindsey’s feet hit the floor. He couldn’t answer too fast, or she’d know that he was awake. He tried his best to sound half-asleep as he replied to her,
“Huh?”
“I heard a thud.” She quietly shouted across their unit. Thank god they were on the end of the building.
“Yeah… Mark just dropped my water glass.” He lied through his teeth
“Do you need the broom?”
“No!” He shouted back way too quickly, “I’ll get it.”
“Okay.” He heard her bed creak, indicating he was safe. To maintain the ruse he tiptoed out to the living room and grabbed the broom from the closet. He brought it back to his room and waited for what felt like a safe amount of time before pacing back to the kitchen and putting the tool away. In the time it took him to “clean up”, Mark had turned back into a cat and buried his fat ass into Strahm’s pillow.
“Oh absolutely not. You think just because I saw you as a human, I’m just going to let you sleep on my pillow you stupid… Stupid thing.” Strahm struggled with the words to call the cat man. He pulled the shrieking feline off his pillow and plopped his fat little body down onto the mattress before crawling under his sheets. The cat transformed yet again, and peered at Strahm as the other man tried to fall back asleep.
“And here I thought I was growing on you.” Mark’s voice dripping in sarcasm. “You seemed like you even almost liked me when we went to the groomer.”
“Can you just fuck off? I have to be up in…” He glanced over at his analog clock, “Four hours.”
“You know, it’d really suck to wake up with a hair ball stuck to your head. Again.”
“Fine.” Strahm rolled back over to face the asshole, “What do you want?”
“I want to know what we are, Agent.”
“What do you mean ‘what we are’?” Strahm scoffed
“Well Lindsey… I get along with her well enough.”
“The fact she can’t stop shoving treats in your fat face helps probably.” The man grumbled and flipped back onto his other side. He kept his eyelids shut tight as he tried to ignore the curve of the other man’s stomach pressing against his back. He felt Mark’s eyes staring into the back of his head as the man waited for an answer to his question. “You’re not going to let me fall asleep until I tell you, are you?”
“Absolutely not.” Mark huffed, his breath skating along the back of Strahm’s neck. He wished he were the cat now and was able to dash from the room without a second thought.
“I like you. I tolerate your presence in my shared apartment.”
“That’s all?”
“That’s all. It’s an answer, isn’t it?”
“I suppose so.” Mark laughed to himself, “Good night, Agent.”
“Night… Mark.” With that sorted, Peter was finally allowed sleep. He woke up the next morning to find that Mark had turned back into a cat. He was curled up around himself in a perfect oval, perched on top of Strahm’s sheets like a paperweight. “Morning fat-ass. Don’t ‘meow’ at me and act all cute. I know it’s all a lie.” The cat before him stretched out its little paws before transforming to the man he had seen last night. Now that he could actually see him, Strahm almost scoffed. The man had to be nearly three-hundred pounds and still leeched off Lindsey and his paycheck by acting like a helpless little animal.
“Like what you see?”
“No.” Strahm answered quickly. Too quickly. They both caught onto the fact that Strahm was flustered. “I’m getting breakfast.”
“Fine. I’ll come with you.” Mark finished his thought before transforming. He skittered onto the floor and threaded his body in the space between Strahm’s legs. Strahm walked out to the kitchen where Lindsey was already dressed for the day, taking a sip from her coffee mug.
“Morning.” She greeted her roommate.
“Morning.” He hummed back. He walked over to the coffee machine and grabbed his own mug, filling it higher than he normally would.
“How’d you sleep after all that commotion?” Lindsey asked him, an eyebrow arched as she drank from her cup. “Get all the glass cleaned up?”
“Yeah. Though this idiot wanted to play in the shards.” He titled his chin in Mark’s direction. Mark rolled over onto his back, showing off his belly as though he was trying to say he was innocent.
“You could’ve thrown him in my room for a second.” Lindsey put the coffee down before scooping her cat up into her arms and cuddling with him
“It’s fine.”
“Sounded… kind of like there was a guy in your room.”
“Huh?” Strahm spat his coffee out in pretend shock. The lukewarm beverage covered the cat in Lindsey’s arms before he squirmed his way back onto the floor, frustrated at his step-owner. Strahm smirked at the cat as it padded back down the hallway and towards his room. He cleared his throat before continuing, “So you… thought you heard a guy?”
“Yeah. That or you were just talking to yourself. In a voice lower than your normal voice.” She shrugged.
“Yeah. I was just… Erickson.”
“Erickson?” She her raised eyebrow reaching new heights Strahm had never seen before. She thought this was a load of bullshit too.
“Yeah he’s been asking me for updates on this case, so I was spit balling how that conversation would play out…”
“And mimicking his voice?”
“Yes.”
“Okay.” The tone at the end of her word curled up. He knew she didn’t believe the story he’d spun, but how much weirder was it than if he had told the truth? “Anyway, you driving in?”
“You want a ride?”
“Yes please.”
“Okay, give me a second and we can go.” Strahm walked over to the closet to grab a suit jacket. Lindsey walked to Strahm’s room and dragged Mark out of his room for the day. She gave him a quick boop on his nose as she explained that he’d get a treat if he was a good boy during the day to which he flopped over. “C’mon Linds.”
“Okay, okay. One last kiss.” She pressed her lips onto Mark’s head and left her kitty for the work day. She kicked her feet up onto the dash while Strahm drove the two into the city. Strahm slowly pushed her feet back off the dash before hearing a scoff.
“Worried about the leather?”
“No, crash.” He said, matter-of-fact
“When’s the last time you got in an accident here?”
“You never know with the way some of these embassy vehicles drive around.”
“Thanks, mom.” Lindsey rolled her eyes at her partner and laughed before crossing her legs in her seat. She was careful to be sure her feet weren’t up on the dash this time. After a small head-bob of gratitude, Strahm drove the two into the city.
Strahm sat at his desk and wondered what the man in disguise was doing in his apartment. Was he just lying, basking in the sunlight from their patio door? Had he broken into Lindsey’s ‘secret stash’ of cat treats for him? It was hard for him to keep his focus on work when he was filled with worry about a man he hardly knew. He must’ve zoned out too hard at his desk because he glanced over at the clock and it was well past five. Weird that Lindsey didn’t stop by his cubicle and tell him to log off for the day but he chocked it up to her being distracted once again at the water cooler. He did a quick loop around the department to find Lindsey before realizing a missing weight in his pocket. His car keys. Where the hell did she take his car? He dragged himself out of the office and hauled himself over to the crowded Metro station. Seemed like everyone had done a bit of overtime in the capital as the station was filled with overly caffeinated interns speaking in hushed whispers about their congress person they tend to. He ran a hand across his face as he tried to avoid listening to the gossip. If only he had had his car. One stop then a transfer. One stop and he’d be away from all these kids who wouldn’t be in the city this time next. He didn’t necessarily hate them, just their optimism. He skipped the first train that came and waited until a second one arrived almost twenty minutes later. He got off at the next stop before transferring onto the red line back to his apartment.
“Pick me up from the station?” He sent in a text to Lindsey before doubling down on it, “I know you have my car keys.”
“Sorry, had to run errands. Let me know +2 ahead.”
“I know the drill.” He shut his phone and shoved it into his pocket. Despite the inconvenience, his mind still had time to wander back to Lindsey’s cat, and his pest. He would have to wait until Lindsey was nearly unconscious and see if he could coax the man into transforming before him again. He had some questions he had to get off of his mind. He sent Lindsey a quick message when he hit the minimum stops notice and waited at the exit for a couple of minutes until she pulled the car into the pick-up line. He collapsed into the passenger’s seat and gave her a mildly disgruntled look. “What errands did you have to run?”
“Oh you know, had to haul ass to Baltimore. Stopped at Magnolia Bakery in Midtown.” She laughed. “Don’t worry, I refilled your tank for you and didn’t add anymore miles than you were going to put on driving home anyway.”
“So you stopped somewhere along the way home.”
“Don’t try to analyze me, Pete.”
“I smell flowers. Trader Joe’s?”
“Maybe.”
“Date night?”
“Oh yeah, me and my Hitachi are going real hot and heavy…” She spoke in a slow, seductive tone
“Stop stop stop.” He shut his eyes tight as he begged his friend to shut up. She smirked as she drove the two of them home. She ran past Strahm to get to the apartment first before closing the door behind her. “Linds! Lindsey I don’t have my key.”
“Wait!” She yelled back out into the hallway. He slumped the against the wall until Lindsey opened the door and said, “Okay, you can come in now.”
“Five seconds more and I would’ve called a lawyer. You know I have equal rights to an apartment with my name on the lease.”
“Quit kvetching and get in here.” He rolled his eyes and followed his partner into the apartment. She guided him into the kitchen like he was blindfolded before stopping him and turning to face him with a small chocolate cake. He tucked his arms one under the other as it dawned on him that he had almost forgotten his own birthday. Perez sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to him with a smile before handing him the cake to blow out his candles. He blew them out quickly and she clapped for him before taking the cake away and handing him a present. “From Mark and I.”
“Uh huh.” He had to laugh a little bit as he carefully slid the ribbon off the box and opened his present. It was a nice bottle of whiskey, something Strahm would never allow himself to buy for himself. “Linds…”
“I know, I know, spare me the lecture. You only turn 50 once.” She threw her hands up and smiled at him
“I… I don’t know when I’ll have the time to drink this.”
“Shut up.” She pulled out two rocks glasses for the two of them and threw an ice cube into hers. “I’ll even open it for you.”
“Thanks…” His voice trailed off as he handed the bottle back to Perez and watched her open it for the two of them. Mark pounced onto the counter and rubbed against Strahm’s glass. Lindsey quickly took the glassware away from the cat and put the bottle down. She picked up the chubby creature and threw him into her room for a moment so they could enjoy their drink in peace. His sad meows for attention were ignored by Lindsey as she made it back to the kitchen and poured the drinks for the two of them.
“Cheers. To another year stuck with you.” She smiled at him
“Cheers. To hoping you don’t spike my blood pressure through the roof during a walk-through. Again.” He returned her cheer with a smile of his own as he took a sip from the glass. His pulled the glass away from his lips so his short sip didn’t turn into a frat boy chug, but it was good. He brought the glass back up after a minute of waiting and took another quick drink.
“I’ll be honest, this doesn’t taste much different than Jack Daniel’s to me.” Lindsey scooted the glass across the counter towards him before going and grabbing a bottle of her preferred alcohol. Strahm poured what little reminded into his glass into Lindsey’s old one and carefully fished out the ever dissolving ice cube. After he worked through that first glass, he poured himself one more before decidedly going to bed. He went back into the kitchen to grab the glass of water that Lindsey had prepped for him at the end of the counter along with an aspirin just in case his two drinks were too much for him at his old age. He pulled the lonely cat out from Lindsey’s room, tucking him under an arm like he was carrying a football, and brought him into his room. The man transformed as soon as his paws hit the floor of Peter’s room.
“You forgot your own birthday, Agent?” Strahm couldn’t read his tone. Was he worried about Peter?
“Yeah, it’s fine though.” He ran a hand across his eyes as they adjusted to focus without his contact lenses.
“That’s sad. Even for a man like you.” And there was the aggravating behavior that he did to get under Strahm’s skin.
“I’m sorry, a man like me?” He looked at Mark
“Well your only friends are a cat and a woman twenty years younger than you. Pretty sad if you ask me.” His smirk was making Strahm’s blood boil
“But I’m happy. I’m happy with Lindsey anyway.” He added on after he saw Mark’s eyebrow raise after saying he was just ‘happy’. “You can’t fucking stand. I don’t know anything about you and yet… you annoy me. Every fucking chance you get.”
“It’s not my fault you make it so easy. You’re so up-tight all the time.”
“And don’t get me started on how you mooch off… well a woman twenty years younger than you by pretending to be this cute, helpless thing.” He threw Mark’s words back at him, “It’d be one thing if you were honest with her but here you are. Hiding in my room and talking to me because I’m the only person that knows about your double identity.” Strahm’s words were practically spit into Mark’s face. When had Mark gotten so close to him? Why were Strahm’s hands resting so firmly along Mark’s arms?
“Be honest with me, Agent. You’d also put up a front and pretend to be a house-pet if you were in my situation, wouldn’t you?”
“I don’t know your situation, do I?”
“I suppose you don’t.” Mark titled his head to the side. His bang fell onto his forehead and before Strahm had a rational response or the chance to ask one of the questions he had for the other man, he kissed him. Oh god, he was kissing Mark. Mark’s hands moved from his side to cup Strahm’s face, running a thumb over the stubble Strahm had meant to shave that morning before he found out that his cat wasn’t really a cat. His own hands moved as he used his body weight to shove Mark into the closet door. He paused for a minute just to make sure he didn’t hear the sound of Lindsey making a run for his room. When he was sure he was in the clear, his lips wandered from Mark’s lips to his jawline. Slowly his mouth moved across Mark’s neck and down along his shoulder blade. Mark’s nose rested along the side of his head as Strahm kissed him, his own lips pressing at the start of Peter’s side burns.
“Consider this my birthday gift to you…” Mark laughed against Strahm. His arms slid around the other man’s back and held him closer to his body. Strahm peeled the man off the door and threw him down into his bed before getting on top of him and working the first button of the other man’s shirt open. It was slow and agonizing as he felt more than just the whiskey burning in his stomach. He was so soft underneath his clothes. Strahm stopped when he had unbuttoned about half the shirt just to work one hand under the still tight fabric pulling across his chest and grabbed Hoffman’s pec. He slowly started massaging it, watching as Hoffman’s lips shaped into a perfect ‘oh’ while he moaned. Strahm slowly dipped his head lower and pressed his lips onto the muscle, keeping it taut in his hand. He licked the sweat that started to collect in the divot of Mark’s chest before moving to his other side where he lavished the doughy tit with as much attention as he gave the other. He pulled himself up only to work on freeing the man from the rest of his shirt. He did his best to undo the buttons while his lips crawled back up to Mark’s lips in a desperate attempt for something while they undressed. Mark’s hand ran through Strahm’s hair before pushing the other man back down his body.
“What do you want?” Strahm asked, almost growling
“It’s your birthday, Agent. Take me how you want me.” Mark growled back at him. One more kiss, digging his teeth into the inside of Mark’s lips and Strahm worked his pants off slowly. Mark’s hand took hold of the elastic waistband of Strahm’s pajama pants and slid it down for his partner. Strahm lifted himself off of Mark’s chest and started shuffling through his nightstand for lube. He quickly covered himself before thrusting into Mark. “Fuck…”
“Good?”
“Yeah. Just keep moving.” Mark’s nails dug into the back of Strahm’s shoulders. Strahm began to slowly thrust into Mark, doing his best to not lose it right away. He made a small grunt from the back of his throat as Mark’s moans went from barely audible to deep noises from his chest. Strahm moved one of his hands and placed it over Mark’s mouth. As much as he wanted to hear the pleasure he was inflicting onto his partner, he couldn’t afford Lindsey’s suspicion again. Mark seemingly rolled his eyes at being forced to be silent, but didn’t fight against the weight that Strahm’s palm offered against his mouth. In fact, his teeth sunk into the inside of Strahm’s hand just below his thumb. Strahm let out a little moan of his own as he felt the heat in his body overtake him complete and he came into Mark. He practically fell on top of the other man as he finished off. He rested his hands against the love handles on Mark’s hips as Mark reached under the man and jerked himself off. “Happy with yourself, Agent?”
“Uh huh.” Strahm muttered, his lips slowly moving against the skin of Mark’s collar bone. His eyelashes brushing across the other man as he held onto him tightly. He needed to clean himself up, but he could hardly move. He didn’t want to move… it felt right to be next to Mark like this.
“Sleep.”
“Don’t have to fucking tell me twice.”
“And that’s the Peter I know.” Mark pressed a kiss onto Strahm’s head as Strahm faded out of consciousness for the night. All and all it wasn’t such a bad birthday. Even if Mark was still a mystery to him.

The More Things Change...
... the more they stay the same.
Victor and Yuri have grown a lot since their early days together, but no matter how much time passes, some things remain as consistent as ever.
Yuri matured significantly and managed to conquer his paralyzing self-doubt. He runs his own successful communications firm now and is well respected in the business community. But, he still dissolves into a sad little puddle and demands all the attention when he's not feeling well.
As for Victor, he's still working at the hospital and he continues feeling fulfilled by his profession. He likes caring for all his patients and makes their comfort his priority, but the patient who'll always be first on his list of priorities is the clingy and still impossibly cute one he has at home.

Yuri: I’m sorry I’m ruining your day off. I know you wanted to go biking with Davey and Lindsey, but now you’re stuck with me instead.
Victor: I’d rather be stuck with you than with anybody else.
Yuri: Not when I’m ill.
Victor: Any time, no matter what. You know that.
Yuri: I feel bad that you’re missing your adventure because of me.
Tumblr media
Victor: It’s okay. The mountain bike trails aren’t about to disappear, and the weather will probably be warm enough for a few more weeks. I’ll have other chances to go.
Yuri: I wish I wasn’t so anxious about being alone. Otherwise, you could’ve gone anyway.
Victor: Honestly, I’m anxious about you being alone when you’re sick, too. Even if you didn’t mind, I don’t think I could’ve just left you.
Yuri: I need you.
Victor: I know.
Yuri: You make it better. I know that probably sounds like a silly thing to say since you can't actually make it hurt less, but you just... make it better. I don't know how to explain it.
Victor: It’s all right. You don’t have to explain anything.
Yuri: Stay close to me. Please.
Victor: I'm here.
Yuri: I was doing so well for so long, but I suppose this was inevitable. They don't call it a chronic illness for no reason, do they?
Victor: I'll take care of you. Don't worry.
Yuri: I know you will, but that doesn't stop me from wishing this wasn't happening.
Tumblr media
Victor: Do you think you’d be more comfortable in bed? I can go upstairs with you and we can cuddle for a while if you want. Maybe I could give you a belly rub.
Yuri: I’d really like a belly rub, but I’m not certain I can move. Not until the painkillers start to work.
Victor: That bad?
Yuri: Yes. It's that awful cramping pain, like someone's twisting my insides.
Victor: Do you feel nauseous too?
Yuri: Mm-hmm. I've been feeling uncomfortable for the past few days, but it's gotten quite a lot worse since this morning.
Victor: You didn’t say anything.
Yuri: The pain was manageable, and I've been busy. But I'm worried this might be the start of a new flare-up, and I don't have time for my body to betray me like that right now. I've got too much work to do.
Victor: I don't think your body understands your work schedule, love.
Yuri: *grumbling* Stupid body.
Victor: *laughing* Would it be inappropriate for me to say how ridiculously adorable you are?
Yuri: Probably, but I won't complain.
Victor: Let me know when you feel like you can move. I'll help you upstairs, and I'll take your temperature.
Yuri: Do I feel warm?
Victor: A little.
Yuri: Oh... brilliant. This had better not be another infection, or I'll—
Victor: What?
Yuri: I'll cry. I'll quite literally cry.
Tumblr media
Victor: It might not be as bad as you think.
Yuri: What if it is?
Victor: If you have a fever or if you're still in a lot of pain tomorrow, I'll take you to the urgent care clinic. In the meantime, try to rest, okay?
Yuri: Maybe we should go now. I mean, not this minute, but when Caroline gets back from shopping with your mother.
Victor: Do you want me to text Mom and let her know what's up? I'm sure Caroline can have dinner with her and Julian, and hang out there for the evening.
Yuri: No, it's fine. I can wait until she gets back at least, and I think she's old enough to stay by herself while we're gone.
Tumblr media
Victor: I don't like the idea of her staying alone, and I'm not sure I can handle being worried about both of you.
Yuri: If anything happens, your parents are across the street.
Victor: You're not concerned at all?
Yuri: Of course, but she's seventeen years old. She needs to be independent at some point.
Victor: I know, but maybe not at this specific point. Maybe we can let her stay on her own for a few hours when you're feeling better, when we can both be available if she needs anything.
Yuri: You know you're being overprotective, don't you?
Victor: You say that like it's bad.
Yuri: It's not necessarily bad. You can overprotect me all you want, but Caroline has a much different temperament than me, and she might not always appreciate being protected as much as I do. I think you need to let go, just a little.
Victor: I don't know. I don't like it.
Yuri: What do you want to do, then?
Victor: I still think she should stay with Mom and Julian.
Yuri: Okay.

Caroline: I'm back from shopping! I can't wait to show you the cute... Oh! Papa, what's wrong?
Yuri: It's all right, Caroline.
Caroline: How is it all right? Are you sick? You were fine when I left. Was it something you ate, or...?
Victor: Papa hasn't been feeling good for the past few days. It seems it finally caught up with him.
Caroline: You're going to take him to the doctor, right?
Victor: We were just talking about that, as a matter of fact. We decided we're going to urgent care.
Caroline: Urgent care? But that's like, for when it's really serious. Papa, you haven't needed to go there in ages. Not since just after we got back from Sulani last time. That's like, almost two years. This isn't going to be like the times you've had to be in the hospital for weeks, is it? 'Cause those are terrifying.
Yuri: That's what I'm hoping to avoid.
Tumblr media
Caroline: Well, if you're going to the urgent care clinic, I'm coming with you. I'll hold your hand while we're waiting, and I'll do whatever you need me to.
Yuri: Well, I guess that's your dilemma sorted, Victor.
Caroline: What dilemma?
Yuri: He didn't want you to stay here by yourself.
Caroline: What are you even talking about? There's no way I'd stay here by myself in this situation. LIke, I'm already freaking out, so can you imagine how much worse it'd be if I was here worrying about you all alone?
Yuri: I thought you might like to have the house to yourself.
Caroline: Maybe if it was just a normal day and I had a few hours to myself to do something fun, but not right now. Maybe you can let me have the house to myself some other time. You know, like when you're feeling better and I'm not losing my mind over all the worst-case scenarios and stuff.
Victor: There's not going to be a worst-case scenario.
Caroline: I'm coming with you so I can hear the doctor say that.
Victor: Because I'm totally not a fully-qualified registered nurse.
Caroline: Victor, that's not what I mean! You totally are, but you know there's a hierarchy or whatever. Husband first, then nurse. And you can't say there isn't, because I've seen you acting even more panicked than me when Yuri's sick, and I know for sure you'd never be like that with your patients.
Victor: I do not panic. I'm one hundred percent calm. Trust me, I'm a professional.
Yuri: I don't think you're convincing her, love.
Caroline: You're not. Now, stop pretending to be a tough guy, 'cause we all know the truth. And don't tell me I'm not allowed to come with you because this is one time I'm not gonna do as I'm told.
Yuri: Oh? Just this one time?
Caroline: Ugh! You guys are so infuriating! How can I even love you so much when you're so annoying?
Victor: We're not going to tell you not to come. I'd like it if you did.
Yuri: I would too. I certainly wouldn't turn down the offer of you holding my hand while we're waiting.
Caroline: I know that's not much. It's not going to fix anything, but I also know you really don't like going to the doctor, so hopefully it'll make the whole thing a bit easier.
Yuri: Don't say it's not much. You might be surprised how much it truly can fix when you know you're with somebody who loves you.
