I looked into this person myself after getting this ask (my screenshots are below). It's someone who has talked about racial issues before (with DnD and that LotR show, I think??) but....never tweeted about it wrt IWTV, which is insane. Their article for the show that's mentioned in the tweets below also glosses over it in favor of focusing on queerness only. Their novel is about a white witch when it seems like it should prbly be an indigenous story?? I got the feeling this is someone who feels they're doing everything "right" wrt not being racist, but ends up not doing much at all bcuz they're too afraid to step outside a certain comfort zone about it and kinda feels like it's not their fight deep down. Their story about how they got hired too (under the cut) is also the most white privileged thing I've ever read. There's so many ppl in this fandom for the show to pick from if they want to include fandom ppl, yet most ppl picked / named are white ppl who are clueless about the majority of racial themes in the show or fans of color who align with white fandom ideals and won't rock the boat at all about racial things otherwise either. Like u said, we all know what happened with Naomi and the podcast by comparison.

not only did izzy not compete for their hearts but he also didn’t do anything to mess with ed and stede’s dynamic like he literally gave them his blessing. everything lin codega wrote in this paragraph is just straight up wrong.

i am begging you guys, next time you read an ofmd article with an inflammatory headline or statements from the article writer, instead of freaking out, read the article and look for THE ACTUAL QUOTES and see if they actually say what the article is suggesting

"david jenkins didn't mean for the show to be a queer romance" and "david jenkins intended ed's love for stede to be unrequited up till they'd filmed half 1x06" are straight up not true. you can look up the article and while the writer makes those claims, the quotes from jenkins DO NOT ACTUALLY SAY THAT. (and frankly, if you think about how season one is constructed from a narrative perspective it simply does not actually make sense. it also contradicts pretty much everything else he's ever said about the initial concept and pitch process and storybreaking for the show in every other interview ever.) same applies to recent (and wildly different) comments by both rhys and taika about how they interpreted the end of s2 and how they see the story developing after.

if nothing else, this should have taught us all a lesson:

now that season 2 is over do you feel like this is something that happened at all? that the show was leaning into framing ed-stede-izzy as a love triangle? that it depicted izzy competing for their hearts? i sure don't think it did, and if you read the actual quotes in this article you'd have known it wasn't going to.

Since Lin Codega said it's too early for the writers to write actual scripts, people are now convinced we won't get a late 2025 release. If the rumor about production starting on 11/30/2024 is true, it means they would have at least two months to write some scenes. Do you think there is still hope for 2025?

Yes… iirc the last writing rooms were only a few months as well. And Sam said s1 started filming with only 3(?) scripts ready.

In any case I wished people would always stop jumping into panic mode.

I don't understand why some people can't even entertain the possibility of Eric being not 100% straight when we have stuff like:

YEAH honestly, I feel much the same about this!! I don't like speculating about people's sexualities and personal lives so much, but I can say I'd honestly be shocked if Eric isn't queer of some variety.

About to beat the Backerkit’s record for longest in Overtime (overtime ends when there hasn’t been funding in 10 minutes)

They are $10k away from unlocking Blood and Coal setting, which I would be soooo stoked to get. It seemed impossible but now it’s getting so close. Here’s their blurb about it:

Blood & Coal takes place in the town of Thurmond, West Virginia in the early 20th century, during the first years of the Great Depression. Playbooks

The Canary is a beautiful innocent stuck in a bad situation. They were born with the gift of foresight and the ability to sense malevolent entities in their presence. Threats & Mastermind

Blood & Coal is still in development, but will feature a variety of Threats, including: The Bad Death of Dolores Fink, in which a recently deceased homemaker miraculously revives, only to terrorize her family; The Snarly Yow, in which a monstrous wolf has been scaring travelers along the old roads outside of town; and The Blue Devil of Ratliff Holler, in which the hunters investigate a folk tale, a blue-skinned family of moonshiners, and their criminal clientele. In addition to the other 5 planned Threats, there will be two secret Threats associated with Playbooks. We will have more to reveal in the coming weeks!

The Mastermind in Blood & Coal is Father Tate, a mysterious and charismatic preacher with a dark secret—he is in direct communion with the malevolent forces at work, and will eagerly see Thurmond burn to bring about the return of the God Beneath.

The $30 tier, which has digital copies of all 3 books, would include the Blood and Coal campaign and setting. Across all settings, there’s enough information for several campaigns. If you’re on the fence and can swing it, I highly recommend! The community is also awesome and super encouraging of new game designers / homebrewers.

if it’s not in the quotations i always assume it’s the author of the article editorializing. and pretty much every ofmd article during and after s2 reads differently when you only pay attention to the specific quotes from the writers and actors

and how many abusive parents - how many specifically homophobic and transphobic parents - justify what they're doing exactly by telling themselves that it's their job to keep their child safe, so they have to teach them that acting publicly queer will put them in danger

thinking also about how david jenkins had one of the last things izzy did be finally admitting that the reason he tried to force ed to keep being blackbeard was actually for his own selfish benefit

Hey!

So, first off, I have talked about this a lot of times, and won't rehash it all now, here is a kind of summary post with further links.

In real short:

I think it will be shown that the fight was a fight, not domestic abuse per se, as was hinted at already in the trailers

I think there will be a key moment in the moment we did not get to see because we were on Claudia's POV last time - not only did Lestat plead with Louis to stop fighting, but Claudia also did not see what happened in the coffin room, and in episode 6 there is a shot where you can see Louis' coffin has dents on it which match locked arms.

I think the part outside will be revisited again in s3. I think if that happened as shown then there will be more to it, probably hinted at in this season (and I think we then got a hint in episode 6) and then fully revealed in s3 or s4 because they then would need to extrapolate.

I think the drop will not have happened as shown. The logistics are weird, the injuries do not quite match, and Claudia could not have heard what they said up there. I think that flight/drop will shift to something else, something that happened between Lestat and Armand and was... reused, maybe.

All in all, I think they will add to the fight, because there were already a lot of hints that it was not as "told" in what we were shown.

As per "the fandom" - IDK, and by now I don't particularly care anymore.

We are on a tale, told from certain POVs, for a certain effect. We are not spoon-fed the truth.

And if certain people cannot take that mental step back and think for themselves then I cannot do it for them. I think some will always think of Lestat like that no matter what will happen now, and no matter what cast, crew and writers have been pointing out already. *shrugs*
