this is mostly just an extension of my personal belief that sirius black would be the worst date ever for anyone on the planet. you don't have to agree, but i just think he's so horribly unsuited for romance and i want to exploit that in every way. (sirius black is my favourite character in all of harry potter, so this is not at all hate-inspired.)

here is another snippet for you, featuring The Date™️ :

Lily takes another sip of her drink, glancing around the restaurant before her eyes settle back on Sirius, who is still engrossed in his phone. She clears her throat, determined to keep the conversation alive. "So, Sirius," she begins, "Gideon mentioned that you have a motorbike." He glances up briefly, disinterest evident. "Yeah." His eyes immediately return to his phone. Lily bites the inside of her cheek, trying to stay patient. "I've never been on one, but I can see the appeal. At least it keeps you off the Tube." She forces a small laugh, but the only response she gets is the incessant tap-tap-tap of his fingers on the screen, accompanied by a vague grunt. "Is everything alright?" she asks, an edge creeping into her voice. "If you need to be somewhere else—" "Huh?" He looks up, momentarily confused. "Oh. No, my mate just sent me this meme." He holds his phone out toward her, as if this is an adequate peace offering. "Funny, yeah?" Lily glances at the graphic on his screen, not understanding it at all. "Quite."

marauders era characters and whether i think they're good singers or not

Sirius Black: thinks he has the voice of an angel. more has the voice of a vulture. subjects everyone to his awful singing whenever he can. remus hates listening to music in his presence because he always ruins it.

James Potter: could be a good singer if he tried. but he prefers just screaming on to lyrics. "reggieeee it's more fun that way!" regulus is not impressed. he doesn't let james choose the music in the car anymore. when he and sirius duet it's a true nightmare.

Remus Lupin: decent singer but will not sing unless it's along to another song. if the music cuts out an he's still singing, you'll never see him again. that mf is fleeing to another country.

Peter Pettigrew: surprisingly a great singer, and he knows it. usually only pulls out the singing for karaoke, but if somebody asks him to sing, well, how can he say no? "WORMTAIL THAT IS THE THIRD TIME YOU'VE SERENADED A GIRL THIS WEEK SHUT THE FUCK UP"

Mary MacDonald: this girl is a singer. like she wants to become a popstar and she will if she puts her mind to it. like she's got the voice for pop-punk. she'll do an impromptu concert during a party and everybody loves her and is in love with her for it.

Lily Evans: she is a choir/theater kid. don't lie to me and say otherwise. this girl got up on stage and sang her heart out to the music man in sixth grade (seventh year). she was the soloist in all her choir shows. she's a good singer and she knows it but she's humble.

Marlene McKinnon: likes to think she can sing, but can't. mostly sings when she's drunk. nobody has the heart to tell her she isn't the next celine dion. dorcas actually finds it quite endearing though. she loves watching movies with marlene when she insists singing along to the whole soundtrack

Regulus Black: amazing singer. like literally voice of an angel. but will put a knife to somebody's throat before they ever hear him sing. but blushes when james says he has a pretty voice. before threatening him at knife point. it doesn't exactly go to plan.

Dorcas Meadowes: she's a decent singer but doesn't like to sing. will only sing if marlene drags her to do karaoke. because she can't say no to marlene. and she's usually already blackout drunk.

Barty Crouch Jr.: listen, this guy is the next michael buble. he moonlights as a singer at cocktail parties and makes ladies swoon. evan is annoyed. think of barty as duke silver from parks and rec but with singing. that's the vibe. but nobody knows and he and evan pretend he can't sing for shit around their friends.

Evan Rosier: your pretty average singer. sounds good on some songs when he tries, bad on others. barty always claims he sounds perfect even when it's he's completely off-key.

Pandora Lovegood: she has two modes. literally heavenly, like the voice that sings you up to heaven when you die. or she sounds like she's choking to death. usually the latter is when she's drunk. don't ever ask her to do karaoke when she isn't sober, your ears will bleed.

I don’t like ‘perfect characters’ I like interesting ones (like Severus) so some of this goes to show she wasn’t perfect therefore makes her more interesting to me. Some fanon characterisations Mary sue her a bit so I prefer her with some flaws and attitude etc

i 100% agree with the second one, but i just woke up so i may be reading the first one wrong.

lily is not perfect, she had her bad moments and she had her good ones, she wasn’t a mary sue who did no wrong and she definitely did some bad shit when she was younger. marrying her best friends abuser, refusing to help get severus down from the tree with a charm (even tho she 100% could!), etc.

i think we really need to leave the characterization alone for a lot of characters, just leave some characters how they are in canon and stop changing them for better or for worse because of what a fanfic or fanart told you.

i think it’s so silly when people hate a character because other people told them to, without actually taking time to try and enjoy it before hating it, or making a character perfect and can do no wrong because it’s their darling lily, without taking the time to enjoy her flaws.

"This is ridiculous," you grumbled from atop James's lap.

He rolled his eyes, his arms around you as you both sat in the chair. He'd dragged you to some house party with the intention of getting the attention of Lily Evans. It was his newest scheme, and the only reason you agreed was because he promised to pay your rent for three months. He had money to spare, and you had some free time: a match made in heaven, apparently.

"Quit being a baby about it," he mumbled softly.

"She's not even sparing a glance this way, James," you note, taking a sip of your drink. He took it out of your hand a second later, downing the rest of it. You scoffed, "hey!"

"Yeah?" he smirked.

"That was mine."

"What's mine is yours, and vice versa, babe."

"You're really milking this."

"And your rent is paid. Suck it up, love," he kissed your cheek.

You felt heat rising in your cheeks, but you were determined to blame it on the drinks. No way in hell you'd let yourself be caught blushing over a man you were in a fake relationship with.

"Do you want more?" he asked softly, rubbing your thigh.

You quirked your brow. "Careful. Don't be too nice to me, or else I might think you actually like me."

"Hm," he shrugged, looking at you with an oddly soft gaze. Then his signature smirk made a reappearance. "Bet you'd like that."

"Oh, please," you roll your eyes.

He laughed again, hugging you to him tightly. "She's looking now."

You raised your brows, trying hard to look nonchalant as you scoped the room. You definitely saw Lily looking, but she seemed more confused than jealous. Probably not the reaction James was hoping for.

"Aren't we supposed to be trying to make her jealous? She just looks a bit confused, James," you say quietly, stroking his hair.

"Really?" he pouted, glancing back at Lily briefly. "Damn it."

"Tough luck, Potter," you said, about to stand up to refill your drink.

Before you could get far, he pulled you back down, pressing a firm kiss to your lips. You squealed in surprise, unsure if you should push him away or give in. Logically, you should want to slap him. But his lips were soft and you were tipsy... so you kissed him back.

You sighed into it as he wrapped his arms around you, deepening the kiss until you felt dizzy. It was intoxicating and terribly embarrassing to admit that you really liked it. You felt like you'd fallen into a daze when he finally pulled away, both of your eyes on one another.

"Um..." you say after a beat, feeling disoriented.

"That was... Just trying to make Lily jealous," he said quietly, his eyes still on your lips.

"Yeah. Just to... Right."

He started leaning in again before quickly pulling back. "I⎻I'm gonna refill our drink."

"Oh. Okay," you nodded, standing up, then falling back into the seat as he started walking towards the drink table, still not sparing a glance at Evans as he did. You took a deep breath, unable to stop looking at him. You groaned, covering your warm face with your hand. "Fuck."

- remus is so badly mischaracterized, the shift from him being a soft sensitive kid despite the violent nature of his condition was so so important but now he is turned into this mean angry alpha male. i feel like the point of him being so sensitive was to contrast w him being a werewolf ya know. bring back weird and awkward remus

- gay ships that are just there because they’re gay is pretty strange. i’m speaking of the whole jegulus/pandalily/whatever new thing ppl come up with i don’t really understand the point of just thinking that making a couple gay makes them more interesting. seems a little counterproductive .

-jily loosing its popularity is killing me. bring back my 7 year slow burn prophecy beautiful love story they are the most important ship

-sirius being a feminine dramatic gay twink. this man was a motorcycle owning rebel strong guy. and believe it or not he CAN be gay and still be that. him being gay ( in our head canons) doesn’t mean he’s a woman

- turning gay ships into basically a straight relationship by making them so stereotypical ( wolfstar w feminine af sirius and strong man remus)

- shipping character that died and fought against a certain ideology and people that were actively apart of the problem is kinda crazy. like jegulily? my brother in christ regulus wanted her dead.

-fanon regulus. he was a strong willed DEATH EATER he wasn’t forced into it or abused by his family. it.is.stated.in.the.book.

-deatheaters are interesting characters BUT don’t tell me people are babying and glorifying them in a effort to explore their complexity.

-some of you are blinded by the fancasts and forgot all about what the characters are.

- the new fan casts are meeeh. they’re not all supposed to be supermodels…

- jegulus taking over the fandom is insane.

-andromeda should be getting the regulus treatement she is what you made regulus into.
