I saw a TikTok on my feed yesterday that was a bit of an eye-opener. A 25 year-old woman opened up about her experience of being a full-time influencer and ended up quitting to work in corporate America, and she said she is much more happier now. She loves teamwork and collaborating with people at this company. Overall, it sounds like she has a great management team and coworkers. Here’s a few other things she mentioned I feel are important to bring up:

She can apply the marketing knowledge she gained from being a full-time influencer to this company

Being an influencer is a one-man band “job” (obviously), and, eventually, it took a mental toll on her after one year of doing it

She had “multiple streams of income” - Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Liketoknowit, and Google Adsense

She began questioning herself and wondered if being a freelance influencer is really what she wanted to do the rest of her life

Influencers do not have full-time benefits (401k, health insurance, PTO, sick time off, etc.), so how are they paying for the medical bills and saving up for retirement? She’s 25, however, and still on her parents medical insurance.

This woman literally had to rely on sponsorships, because they were 80% of her income!

“12 sponsorships a month just to make ends meet” — wow!

The life of a freelance influencer is not steady income

It’s literally a 50/50 situation here: There were times where she had no money coming in (one sponsorship at the most if anything) and other times where she made so much money from sponsorships and the pay was unbelievable (in a good way)

She had to really up her game with connecting and networking, and even marketing

She had to be “financially responsible” with her money since she was a freelancer and “budget everything to the T”

Ask yourself this (in her exact words): “How many sponsorships do I need to take every single month? Am I willing to do that? And what happens if I don’t get that many sponsorships?”

Her closet used to be filled with clothes from brands that she had to buy from if it wasn’t a PR package, but now her closet is filled with brands of clothes she personally likes and bought

She is a part-time influencer, and it’s so much easier and now more enjoyable for her since she isn’t relying on “influencing" for income

She views influencing as a “materialistic and shallow job”

Being an influencer requires you to keep up with trends, always buying new products, trying new things and then “sharing them with people”, and finally… “getting PR all the time”

“I don’t wanna feel like I need to post to make money and that I need to buy things to make money and that I need to buy things to stay relevant.”

I’ve come across so many videos of people saying they left their full-time, 9-5 job to become a full-time content creator, so it was refreshing and intriguing to see someone do the complete opposite. Also, I love how transparent she was about her experience.

Function Of Beauty Bond Repair Custom Conditioner Mask for Wavy, Damaged Hair

what it promises: this mask is tailored specifically for wavy hair, aiming to deeply hydrate and enhance natural waves.

my experience: i’ve always been a fan of customized hair care, and function of beauty has not disappointed. this deep conditioning mask has a rich, creamy texture that glides effortlessly through my hair. i do love that you add some extra products to this too! function of beauty sells individual additives for varying hair treatments; must be purchased separately.

results: after rinsing, my hair feels incredibly soft and more manageable. the mask has significantly reduced frizz and added a noticeable shine. my waves are more defined and bouncy, which is exactly what i was hoping for.

would i repurchase? absolutely! this has become a staple in my hair care routine.

Nutrafol Root Purifier Shampoo & Conditioner

what it promises: nutrafol’s root purifier line is designed to cleanse the scalp, support hair growth, and improve hair health with clinically effective, natural ingredients.

my experience: i’ve been using this duo for a couple of months, and i must say, the fresh, botanical scent is very refreshing. the shampoo lathers well and gives a deep cleanse without leaving my scalp dry. the conditioner is lightweight yet hydrating.

results: my scalp feels cleaner and less irritated, which is a significant improvement. i’ve also noticed less hair breakage and shedding, which is fantastic. the conditioner leaves my hair soft but not weighed down, making it easier to style.

would i repurchase? yes and no…yes, if you’re looking for a gentle yet effective solution for scalp cleanliness. no, (for a reason unrelated to what the product promises) because this product was one of the ones i was using when my back was breaking out terribly…i stopped using this when i ran out and my back got significantly less irritated with acne. i don’t know if this product had anything to do with it but i promised an honest review!

Nécessaire Acne Body Wash

what it promises: this body wash is formulated with salicylic acid to help treat and prevent body acne while maintaining skin’s moisture balance.

my experience: body acne can be a real confidence buster, so i was eager to try this product. the body wash has a gel-like consistency that lathers well and feels luxurious on the skin. the formula is fragrance-free, which is great for sensitive skin. i did not use this everyday and i would alternate with a different acne treatment. i find that when i alternated it with other products, it remained effective. otherwise my skin got get too familiar with this product and it did not have the same level of effectiveness for me personally.

results: i’ve seen a noticeable reduction in body acne, particularly on my back and shoulders. my skin feels smoother and less irritated. unlike other acne treatments, this wash doesn’t dry out my skin, which is a huge plus.

would i repurchase? definitely. it’s effective and gentle, making it a perfect addition to my skincare routine.
