okay i technically already did this, but i'm not going to make myself do an unrelated chore before answering bc making the list required like two other preliminary chores (cleaning fridge, organizing pantry) so i think i earned this one

i have literally been thinking about this independently for a week. this question haunts me. i really go back and forth because i don't think either of them, like... needs another kid. lando never really expected to date again so he definitely never expected to have another child, and oscar's always planned to race into his mid-to-late 30's and maybe figure his life out after that, so emma's already a bonus for him. they'd both definitely be content to raise emma and enjoy each other and have their careers and that would be enough. BUT. yeah. i love a baby.

basically where i'm at with it is that i think lando would leave it up to oscar? like lando looooves being emma's dad, but he's content. he's got everything he needs. he knows, though, that as much as oscar loves LOVES emma and sees her as his responsibility and his kid, too (eventually), she's not actually his. oscar wasn't around when she was a baby, didn't get the full experience, and lando could understand oscar wanting all of that. and lando's happy to do it again if oscar does want to, but it's gotta be because oscar wants it, bc on his own, lando wouldn't.

then i think oscar wouldn't even consider it until later on in his career. he knows his schedule is crazy, and he knows lando gave up everything for emma when she was born, and he doesn't want to think about putting lando in that position again, bc oscar won't be around all the time. it would be lando alone a lot of the year. but i could see him reaching that mid-30's point, a WDC (or six or eight, who's to say) under his belt, and deciding... yeah. he'd like a baby, maybe. and emma would be like 15-16 by then, so she's more independent, and it just feels like the right time.

i have about eight side/spin-off/future fics in mind for this universe that may or may not fully form themselves in the future, but this second child concept is like top-five in that category, which is why i have pretty cohesive thoughts on it LOL. i think emma would be such a good big sister, too, and i have this whole lando and osc convo with her sitting in my brain where they talk through their decision and make sure she doesn't think it's because she's not enough for them, etc. interesting future sibling dynamics too where emma was around for the whole relationship, the wedding, vaguely remembers times when it was just her and lando, has CLEAR memories of oscar racing and winning and their family being around the paddock. and considers oscar her parent for sure, but definitely still thinks of lando differently than osc. and then the second baby would just... not have any of that? they'd always know oscar and lando as equal parents who are always around. and em as their very cool older sister who comes home from uni every summer to spoil them and tells stories of when dad and uncle max were racing drivers.

sometimes I randomly think about the time a girl posted in this girls only Facebook group I’m in telling everyone how she broke up with her boyfriend and he lied saying that he lost the spare key she gave him, only to then break into her apartment when she wasn’t home and steal the cat they’d adopted while they were together, but then he denied having done this and she didn’t really have proof that he took the cat since he wouldn’t let her come into his place and look for it. And then another girl saw this post and knew her ex-boyfriend, and she was like “girl. I used to hook up with your mans back in xxxx and I still have his number.
