hiiiiiiii!!!!!!! i've been roleplaying for about 14 years, and i've written my darling nicolette on and off since the very beginning! she was the first character i ever wrote, and the first oc i made, so you can imagine she means the absolute world to me. i've put my very heart and soul into her.

writing is my biggest hobby next to gaming. my favorite game(s) of all time are bioshock and alice madness returns, but my current fixation is genshin (don't let me play anymore gacha games i have terrible impulse control!!!) honorable mention to bloodborne too (pc release...bLEASE). i also like to read, but i consume a lot of fanfic primarily. favorite childhood book series is the sisters grimm!

anyway, i'm very happy to be in isola! while i haven't necessarily extended to all corners of the group, i've felt very welcomed by the circle of friends and writing partners i've had the absolute pleasure of meeting. i've been in many rp groups (aurp, aod, kny, ama) i have also been in indie spaces for many years and my experiences have varied! it can be difficult to write an oc, especially a female oc, and have others give you a fair chance. so i feel super grateful to all the people who have done so in this group and allowed me to to continue my ongoing journey of fleshing out nicolette and exploring every aspect of her character. i adore the relationships she's built.

- so we all know what normal togami does in chapter 2. This au’s answer to that is - drumroll please - Chihiro fucking with the crime scene specifically to protect Kyoko!!!! She knows that something bad will happen if Kyoko’s found out as the killer, so she actively messes with the evidence around Yasuhiro’s body as a means of protecting the biker gang leader!

- once that’s discovered during the trial (and once Celeste is THOROUGHLY PISSED) Chihiro doesn’t give up! In fact, they rally everybody to vote for themselves in order to save Kyoko! With Togami’s help, people begin buying into it and wondering if maybe that’s really the best option……after all, they don’t want to watch another one of their friends be killed…….

- Kyoko herself is the one to stop that. She admits to the murder, but also encourages everyone to listen to Celeste and Hifumi. She apologizes to Sayaka. And she demands that everyone stand against Monokuma together, but on their own terms. She wants them to win, because she knows they can do it. She goes to her punishment peacefully, much to the dismay of Chihiro and Byakuya.

- speaking of Chihiro and Byakuya, let’s talk more about them!!!! They’re besties in this au. Chihiro was like “If I vote for someone, it’s like killing them myself!” And Togami was like “wow. so selfless. 🥺👏❤️”

- Chihiro BREATHES and Celeste is like “were it not for the laws of this land I would have slaughtered you”

- she’s the epitome of that “just buy another one” video I love her so much HDNSBDND

fantasy aus

main/the fantasy au - cherub, prof, and dj are a team in a fantasy realm. prof is a scholar, dj is a necromancer, and cherub is a [literally] fallen angel. ode was executed wrongfully thousands of years ago by shroomses, who fell into a depression and put himself into a magic coma. cap is a sailor who hates his life and teams up with necromancy’d ode to be villains. love wins!

princess and the dame - dj [demigirl] is a dame named priscilla who goes to rescue shroomses [cis woman], a princess named selanaria, from a monster. the story, which is finished and posted at my ao3, is about the grove they travel through, with the rest of the protags being faeries. it’s one of my /gen aus where the characters are specifically feminine/feminine presenting.

mightier than the sword - prof is an aspiring author with mental health issues, mainly that he has anxiety, rough problems with his self-worth, and a history of hallucinations that he got mostly treated. when he starts working on the story he’s writing, grasp on magic, he unexplainably opens his original character world up and falls in. he then learns to practice healthy coping mechanisms and find his ‘purpose’, the living soul of every organism in existence [for context because he neglected the fact that he needed to face his bad mental health he lost his purpose], with the help of all the characters. cherub is a unicorn centaur whose purpose is joy/happiness. ode is a naga whose purpose is love. cap is a merpainter [a merperson with magical painting abilities] whose purpose is friendship. dj is a gorgon whose purpose is courage. shroomses is a dragon whose purpose is strength. it’s currently posted and in progress on my ao3 ^_^

marine aus

under the great sea - prof, a clam who’s a professor, and cherub, a mertoad who’s a dancer, are best friends. dj is the kraken of the sea, and he’s. still a dj lol. ode is a fabled underwater pirate who actually exists, and his lower half is an eel. shroomses is the king of the sea, and he’s a merman with his fins similar to jellyfish limbs. cap is a drowned sailor who haunts the ocean and is friends with cherub.

treasure trove - a short one-shot I wrote where dj is a deity of love and music in the form of a kraken, and shroomses is a sailor who falls in love with him. can you tell I’m queer,

women love me fish love me - similar to treasure trove, it’s a simple story where prof lives by the seaside and is dating cap and tiara, who are both merpeople/sirens.

space aus

space sailor au - cap is a thing called a star sailor, a sailor who travels on things called star currents. prof is an astronomer who lives in his observatory in the middle of space. everyone’s loosely the definition of an alien btw? cherub’s a star deity/god who is in a qpr with ode, another space-borne person like prof and cap. they both live in a very small planet similar to the home ship in mario galaxy, due to ode wanting to keep cherub from falling to the same fate that shroomses, his previous partner, had. shroomses was originally a star sailor who wanted to see the ends of the universe, but when he touched the edge of the expanding universe, he was turned into a personified black hole. dj is a star captain, a star sailor who owns a star ship, and for unknown reasons, he is unable to die, so he goes on a mission to turn shroomses back into a star sailor.

cosmos au - shroomses is an astronaut who crashlands on a planet/city-based planet called sparkshur. dj is a prince on said planet who befriends him. cherub is a bee warrior cyborg who is both a doctor and a guardian. ode is another former astronaut who became a gardener on sparkshur after he crashed a few years ago. cap and prof are currently undecided lol ..

pmtok-relevant aus

vellumental au - toads replace the vellumentals, the events of pmtok killing the vellumentals don’t happen. the curator is the earth vellumental and runs an ancient museum, oarsman/qiu is the water vellumental and gives people rides down autumn mountain, shroomses is the [in hiding] fire vellumental who is afraid of what humanity perceives of him, and ode is the ice vellumental, who is trapped inside diamond island as punishment for causing chaos and can only be freed if he proves he can be calm and caring. prof is still a prof, but he accidentally ends up in shangri-spa and needs the help of the angels, mostly cherub. cap is a sailor who manages to go inside diamond island, unaware of ode’s presence, and he befriends ode. dj is a dj who falls into shroomses’ cave and manages to help him ease the fear of humanity.

swap au - it’s generally a collection of aus so I’ll include it. it’s mainly protags being shuffled around into different roles, but my personal favorites are dj and shroomses swapped and prof and ode swapped.

pokepark 2 au/wonders beyond au - july [replacing pikachu] has to stop the protags from destroying the toadpark. alexander replaces oshawott, kate replaces snivy, and nile replaces tepig. cherub replaces the sarcophagus character, dj replaces chandelure, prof replaces gothelita/the other fighting area boss characters, and cap replaces the flying area master. ode replaces zeckrom [sorry I forgot I think that’s it ?], and shroomses replaces reshiram. secra replaces darkrai.

splatoon au - cap [slosher], dj [dual dapples], july [forgor lol] and prof [snipe] are all inklings on a team called inkshot. cherub [splattershot], an inkling, ode [kensa roller], an octoling, shroomses [heavy splatling], an octoling, and kate [undecided], an inkling, are on a team called angel. they fight each other for fun. love wins.

One of my favorite characters to work on is a winged human. Like lots of feathered markings, big wings, the tail, etc. So like, seeing all the wing AU stuff is making me so happy! A because I love wing aus and I LOVED that story, and B because I love reading discussions about wings and how people would adapt to usuing them!! “What’d she say?” Ben asked once you put the phone down.

“It’s exactly like the wheelbarrow race. I’m gonna rest onmy hands and you’re going to grab my legs,”

“Okay, sounds good. You still horny?”

“Very much so,” you said as you dropped to the ground, adjustingthe pillow, “I can see you are,”

“Lucky for you. You right?”

Ben bent to grab your legs and pulled them up behind you, givingyou a second to shift your weight on your hands. There was a moment of uncertaintyas he let go of one of your legs to line himself up properly, but as soon as hesunk into you, you knew it was worth the hassle.

“Shit you’re deep,” you whined, letting your head restagainst the pillow.

I finally watched Descendants 3 and here’s my thoughts no one asked for.

Unexpectedly long post so uh... read if you want

Emotions! Happy, laughter, sadness, heartfelt. Nothing groundbreaking but a great story of friends and family - the whole series for that matter. Not about where you came from but who you chose to be, whom you choose to love

I still wasnt ready to see Cameron. I cried.

Hades? Best worst dad 10/10. I knew that was gonna be the reveal but I was pleasantly surprised with how nicely they did it. They could have made him cliché 2D evil but they didnt! I didn’t expect to love his character

I love the subtle cues between him and Mal - not just in personality, but the choreography in Do What You Gotta Do, and their costume design! To me it shows that, all along, Mal has been nothing like her mom. Someone else pointed out that Mal’s hair and outfit colors shift to have blue reflecting her becoming more “Hades” which just solidifies this to me

She wanted Maleficent's approval, but Hades’ attention/care (yeah you’re the god of hell but couldn’t you wish me a happy birthday like... once?)

“My attention would have made you softer.” He would have been a doting dad and (as someone else mentioned) he knew that wouldn’t fly on the Isle. She would have gotten eaten alive. He was doing what he thought was best for her.

Hades’ “suffering husband” attitude was hilarious. [Overall I just like the facets they gave his personality!]

Dramatic goth bitch. Don’t roll your eyes, Mal, cause this is clearly where you get it from.

Hades suppressed shock (and dare I say pride) seeing Mal turn into a dragon at the beginning

Oh the “Hi, dad” and little snarky hand wiggle when they reunite. Cheyenne’s portrayal of Hades was great

Hades? Married? To Maleficent? The lore connotations are really funny. Clearly they all have a second parent but Mal happens to be the offspring of the two most powerful beings. (I mean, no shame, Maleficent. You go girl. Marry a god) and also him tolerating her long enough to have a kid

Please tell me Hades is really the one who gave Mal the name Bertha

On that note Ben (and their friends!) takes the knowledge that his fiancée is a demigod extremely chill. Like can you imagine your inlaws are an unfathomably powerful fairy and the fucking Greek god of hell?

We were robbed of Fully Powered Mal and I am, for one, offended

Hades! Dad! Just that. That’s it. Wants to make up for the 16 years.  (I wish we saw his reaction to his wife (ex?) being a lizard)

Is there marriage on the Isle?? Officiant??? Who’s moonlighting as an evil wedding planner?! Is there a fantasy disney villain divorce attorney or is Hades just hiding from his wife because he can’t do anything else

Hades noped off underground into a lair no one can find solely to avoid Maleficent, you can’t change my mind

Hades’ staredown of Ben. Protective dad 101 but he can and will kill you and ensure your afterlife sucks if you hurt her

The entire ending was great, esp with all the Hades-Mal reconciliation.

Mal revealing her lineage not just to her friends, but to the world, is fantastic character development. She’s not just telling the whole truth at last (as we saw her struggle with through the whole series) but she’s laying her biggest secret to the world. Completely vulnerable. Her people deserve to know, and it solidifies her point of “you never know where a hero will come from.” Because the product of the two strongest villains became the greatest of all of them. 

Also this finally shows the whole “real” Mal and, as Carlos said, “if [they] don’t love the real you...”

Kingdom Hearts—Sora: my favorite characters tend to be the lovable idiots, stupid but mean well and just want to help out. sora fits the bill exactly, with a pinch of sass to make it interesting! and the subtle way they go about implying how negative sora actually feels under the happy-go-lucky front he's been keeping up for a while, especially in kh3, where he actually broke down... sora character development good!! someone unfreeze him, get this kid into a therapist's office and stop him self-sacrificing, please

Final Fantasy—Zack Fair: also another chirpy idiot type!! maybe i only like him because he really kind of is just the sora of ff7 - kind, sometimes stupid, loves his friends, self-sacrificial - but still, i love him. like look at how fiercely loyal he is!! willing to put his life down to keep cloud safe!! he's great!! i had decided he was my favorite ff character before i even started ff, after seeing how fun of a character he was in khbbs. i thought he got kidnapped at the end,,, half of the reason i started ff was to see how they save him,,,,,, they didn't save him,,,,,,,,,,

Dragalia Lost—Orsem: honestly i can't pick a favorite dragalia character between him, luca, euden, cleo, alex, sylas, vixel, fritz, heinwald, curran, lathna, ieyasu and ricardt, but i had to just pick one for this-- another chirpy, excitable character, he just wants everyone to appreciate ice skating like he does and i think that's adorable. shame that ingame he used to be a pretty decent damage dealer but is pretty quickly getting overshone. i spent a lot of currency and materials getting him fully upgraded only to learn he dropped a tier and melee fighters like him currently suck in the current boss fights :( i'll keep using him for fun in lower difficulties, of course!

Mother—Lucas: mother 3 is tied with ff crisis core for being the saddest pieces of fiction i've ever seen, no other series has made me cry as much as those two games. lucas deserved NONE of what happened to him or his family and friends, and god i hope that open ending saw him living the rest of his life happily. he's a good kid ;-;

Pokemon—N: now THIS is how you write a villain!! no other villain in pokemon even comes close to how good n was!! except maybe guzma but they're very different you can't compare them. wish n would come back.... colress keeps reappearing, and he's cool, another one of my favorites, but WHERE is n???

The World Ends With You—Shiki Misaki: the character development in twewy is phenomenal and shiki is no exception!! she's just a really fun character too ;w; give me a sequel where we see her and eri interact,,,, blease squeenix its all i ask,,,,,,,

Kid Icarus—Pit: again, chirpy idiot type. the characters in kiu are just so fun, the dialogue is so great. pit gives us gems like "step three: remove pants" "again today i will go soaring through the skyyy!!" and the classic "floor ice cream gives you HEALTH!" he's just a great, adorable character, and so is everyone else in kiu, i love this game. wish i could play it :')

My Hero Academia—Kaminari Denki: ah would you look at that, yet another chirpy idiot type character. really he's tied with kirishima for my favorite but :,) really need to catch up on bnha, i kind of fell behind a lot--

okay so teddy I have a Question that I was wondering if you could weigh in on- do you think Crowley and Aziraphale were out of character in the show when compared with the book? I’ve been quite distressed over the portrayal of Crowley in particular for reasons I cannot discern, and I was wondering if it’s maybe just me? Blease grace me with your wisdom.

I definitely agree that they were a little bit different in the show, and while there were choices that I wasn’t thrilled with, I also think the difference was unavoidable for a few reasons:

1 reason is it’s a modern adaptation of a book that’s almost 30 years old. Good Omens the book is old enough to have its own children, and that’s sort of what the show is in a way? It’s a descendant, not a clone. And it’s specifically a descendant filtered through Neil Gaiman’s lens. As much as he might honor PTerry’s memory and the book they wrote together, he was the only one of them working on this show.

but 2, so were a fuckton of other people. Creating a show requires cooperation from roughly a billion more separate moving parts than writing a book, even a book with two authors. There were script editors making the dialogue flow better when spoken and principle photographers making the calls on how scenes could or couldn’t be filmed, and there were producers to appease, and the entire team of hardworking professionals doing their best, and of course....

3, the reason I (and I’ll project and say you) found Crowley just a liiiitle bit different from the book: Mr. David John McDonald Tennant. (a/n: I’m not saying he did a bad job) There’s a post out there about how DT takes all his characters and makes them a little bit slutty? Exactly that but really they’re all a little bit him. He’s achieved icon status, and it shows. A less-criminal version of the Johnny Depp Character Syndrome. Crowley had a little bit of Ten in him, and Ten had a little bit Benedick from that great version of Much Ado he did in 2011 with Catherine Tate (WATCH THAT SHIT). Is it the hips? Is it the way he can’t wear a wig to save his life? Whatever it is, it’s undeniably a Davy T Character, and while I enjoyed his performance, book Crowley was not that.

This is the danger of remakes. They get remade. And 2019 Omens has the extra little side effect of Neil Gaiman making it and then talking about it on Tumblr to fans who message him and give me heart attacks because have they never? Heard? Of Interview??

Anyways, this might not be much of a consolation, Nonny, but it’s what I’ve got. I think Crowley’s too Tennanty. For that matter, Aziraphale is a little too Sheeny. This would have happened with any actors cast, but Sheen’s more of a chameleon (and better at depicting queer characters). Tennat’s TENant-ness stands out-- not like a sore thumb, but like one of those rubber finger condoms you put over a cut when you’re working food service (I swear to gd that’s what they’re called). Like a just-barely-off wig. Like his hipbones. 

He is different, you’re not alone in thinking that, and you’re not alone in being distressed. And, not to be trite, but your feelings are valid!! This book has meant a lot to a lot of people, and we all build our own visions of the text. When someone else’s vision-- even the original author’s-- clashes with that, it’s tough! But that’s never stopped us before. We are fandom! We laugh in the face of canon! But seriously Nonny, know this: Your Crowley is just as real as Neil’s, and just as real as David’s. Art doesn’t exist without an audience to interact with it. The differences stand out to you because they matter to you, and that’s a good thing. 

Put the Velvet Underground cd of the show into the Bentley of your fandom, and wait a couple weeks-- it won’t be bebop forever. Track down some fic recs, listen to some playlists, and choose the parts that make you happy. <3
