As long as you can remember, Neteyam Sully has always been the person closest to you, covering your back every time you created trouble in the Omatikaya clan or got into trouble with your own family. Fortunately your parents trusted Neteyam blindly, after all he was the son of the Olo'eykte and as he grew up, his reputation grew with him, making him worthy of the trust of the whole clan. You could consider him your best friend, who understood and appreciated your rebellious spirit and so contrasted with his, creating a perfect balance in your relationship, as one gave the other what one lacked.
When you were younger it seemed easier to see you only as friends, but when you came of age you found it difficult to see Neteyam only as a friend. You had to admit that he had become a handsome Na'vi, an excellent warrior and probably the definition of perfection in the flesh, always teasing him about things like "You are Eywa’s favorite" and similar phrases. It was a fact that Neteyam excelled at everything he experimented with, so much so that he was the first Na'vi of his group to complete his Iknimaya on the first try, so you assumed he was perfect at everything. You never tried to make him understand your true feelings, intimidated by the fact that he would probably reject you and drive you away, ruining a friendship that lasted for years. So you arrived at the age of twenty with a huge crush on your best friend, watching in silence as the young Na'vi attached to him and flirted to become his companion and one day Tsahìk. You were heartened that he never told you about a particular girl, so you weren’t afraid to lose him yet, not wanting to realize that one day it’ll be too late to come out.
"Yn? Why are you so thoughtful?" Neteyam asked you as you walked through the forest, to reach your secret place where you two spent most of your time. "Mh? A-Ah, nothing, I was just seeing if there were fruits around to collect and take with us" You replied, smiling at the Na'vi near you, trying to drive away all the thoughts that haunted your mind. "Are you sure? If you need to talk to me about something, here I am, you know ma Tanhì" His sweet and caring voice was just one of many curses that didn't help your arduous feat of not thinking of him as a possible partner, but only as a childhood friend. "Yes" you hissed, forcing a smile and then turning away from him, bringing it back on the path before you. You kept walking for a few minutes and then you stopped because of Neteyam who got stuck in his footsteps. You looked at him worried, thinking that he had stepped on a poisonous animal that created paralysis or something like this, but then he turned to you with an embarrassed and shy look. "Ma Tanhì… can I ask you something?" he asked nervously, while scratching the back of his neck, noticing a slight veil of redness on his cheeks. "Umh… yes, tell me" you answered, approaching him, trying to figure out what question might embarrass him this way. "How do you get a girl?" The question hit you directly where it would hurt you most. "I-I mean, I’m asking you because you’re my only female friend, and I know asking Kiri would be the same as being mocked by all my siblings, and my mom isn’t the type to make that clear, saying things like 'follow your heart' or 'be yourself', so… I was hoping to hear it from you," he continued shyly.
At that moment all your beliefs collapsed like a house of cards, realizing that it was now too late even to mention that you had a crush on him. You didn’t react right away, your heart weighed so much that it crushed your lungs, taking away your ability to speak. After a few seconds you began to laugh, hiding your pain behind this action, hoping that Neteyam would not notice from your eyes that you were hurt. "The mighty warrior Neteyam, son of the Olo'eyktan and golden boy of the Omatikaya clan does not know how to get a girl? Really?" You asked ironically, knowing perfectly well that every girl in the clan would fall at his feet with a simple smile or greeting. "Neteyam, knowing you, you’ll just need to introduce yourself to this girl and she’ll be at your feet." your voice was a little tougher but sincere. You started walking in the forest followed by Neteyam who was trying to keep your quick step. "Let’s say she’s not like the other girls, this girl probably doesn’t even see me… Or if she does, she doesn’t do it the way I would" Unknowingly Neteyam was stabbing your heart repeatedly with those words. "Neteyam, c'mon. All the village women have a crush on you, you are the ideal type of all, so I doubt that 'this girl' doesn't see you as you would like" You snort while moving the plants to walk, feeling the look of Neteyam burn on your back and then sigh. "I’m telling you, that’s it. Y/n, you’re my…best friend, help me. Please, I promise I’ll cover you with your parents when you run off in the middle of the night, whatever you want" his desperate voice made you laugh, having never heard he beg like this.
"And you’ll have to take Tuk and my little sister Popiti out whenever they want. Plus, you will accompany me and Kiri to collect beads and objects in the forest" You turned to him suddenly, finding him a few inches away from your body. backing up because of the short distance between your bodies. "All right, will you help me?" he lowered his voice quietly, looking you in the eye while waiting for your answer. "Yes… Tell me about this girl." You back off before you start walking again, trying to calm your heart that was starting to run in your chest. Your tone was slightly cold, you didn’t really want to hear him talk about his crush, but as his friend you couldn’t even back out, not after he was always there for you. "Well, she’s… you know…" he began in a dreamy, excited tone, following the direction you were taking. "Perfect. There’s not much else to describe her with. She’s different from all the girls I’ve ever met, she’s kind, caring, and she loves being with kids. I know she’s a rebellious spirit and she likes to make things. is perfect, then her hair-" you stopped him before he could continue to describe her and go into pseudo-romantic details like the smell of her hair or the sound of her laughing. "That’s enough, I could throw up if you started listing the physical characteristics too" Neteyam laughed embarrassedly, remaining behind you. "Have you already come out? Or have you at least made her think you’re interested?" Your voice became slightly gloomy, and then stopped once you arrived at your secret place.
The place was lovely, you had found it as children and from that day had become your place, there was a small waterfall that created a kind of crystalline lake that connected to a small river hidden by high plains and thick nature. You and Neteyam sat on the grass to talk more comfortably. "No, I don’t know how to tell her or make her understand… I thought it would be easier, but every time I try, she doesn’t understand it or she starts laughing thinking that maybe I’m joking" he sighed heavily, and then he looks up to the sky. "And how did you 'try'?" Your eyes met his, trying to help him in some way, even if you would have preferred to do the opposite. You still had to realize that Neteyam could fail in something as easy as courtship. "Lo'ak told me to show interest, to be empathetic and to be myself, but all this I already did. My mother said that showing myself confident would be attractive, but I’m confident and direct in words, and showing respect." Neteyam dropped on his back and snorted, clearly frustrated by the situation, which you also noticed from the nervous oscillation of his tail "'Teyam, I know no one more respectful than you, as I said, you would be the perfect mate for any girl in the village." You admitted looking at the guy who was now lying next to you, unable to look away from his sculpted body, following every line of his body, enchanted by how his chest rose and lowered with every breath.
"Then what do I do… Why doesn’t she understand? It’s obvious that I’m doing something wrong in the courtship, ma Tanhì" his head turned towards you, looking at you while you were sitting and watching him, making him blush slightly. "Maybe start complimenting her, girls love that. Put your hand in her hair when you talk to her, like moving a strand behind her ear, looking for physical contact makes understand your intentions, especially by the way you do it. Oh! Make her laugh, if you can make her laugh, surely you have done most of the work" your voice was bitter in your throat, you were hating giving that kind of advice knowing that he would use them with who knows who. Neteyam as he watched you listening attentively and taking mental notes of what you advised him. " And be attentive to the details, what interests her etc… if you remember important events in her life or what she loves to do, it is a clear sign of interest. Plus if you have common interests, could you do it together, for example, she likes hunting?" he looked at you enchanted for a few seconds, then nodded and said "Yeah, she likes it" his voice lowered slightly, as he looked at you, hoping that you would understand. "Well, you can ask her to hunt with you. You’re a great hunter, you’ll definitely impress her. And then… umh, I don’t know, maybe be present in her days, even with a greeting, maybe looking for her look or bringing her something you know she might like. And be direct, let her know that you like her, maybe you take her and tell her, you create the right atmosphere… yeah, you know… things like that" You looked away from Neteyams, feeling a strong twinge in your heart that made it hard to speak again, feeling as if I had helped him get away from you. "What if she doesn’t understand it? she’s a good friend, and I don’t know if she’ll reciprocate" You clenched your jaw, maybe understanding who that girl was. Your mutual friend had been acting weird with you for weeks, and Neteyam was acting strangely the same way. Now all the dots were connecting in your mind. " He will understand, if you will be directed with there is another way. If it is not a skxawng. In case you make yourself heard and give her special attentions." You said with clenched teeth, unable to hide the annoyance anymore.
"Ma Tanhì," he whispered, approaching you, sitting again just to lay two fingers under your chin, turning your face towards him. Your noses brushed lightly as his eyes rolled down your lips. "And as actions?… what should I do?" his hoarse voice struck you in a strange way the back and the lower abdomen. "U-umh… Maybe you should… w-well" The breath died in your throat, going to create a knot that pushed down all the words that were going to come out of your lips. " Hmm? I should what, ma Tanhi?" your noses rubbed against each other again, and for a few seconds you deluded yourself that he wanted to kiss you, perhaps failing to realize what was happening. His eyes returned to yours, making you feel a flock of Sturmbeest in your belly. "L-like… kissing her" You whispered with a thread of voice, while his free hand went to move behind your ear some strands of hair, then caress your cheek with his thumb. You swallowed loudly, noticing how Neteyam’s eyes seemed so concentrated in yours, leaving you amazed. "Should I?" His words made you take a deep breath, feeling suddenly weak. "You should…" Neteyam’s smile caught your eyes, staring at his opened lips, which received a mischievous smirk. "Yes, I should."
Suddenly a strong heat hit your body, causing your heart to pump as much blood as possible into your veins as your cheeks burned. Neteyam’s lips met yours, his hands moved from your face to hold the sides of your neck, pressing the thumbs on your jaw. You stood by that unexpected approach, and then only realized it when Neteyam’s tongue pounded against your lips and welcomed it into your mouth. You felt his sweet taste because of the fruit that you both had eaten just before walking into the forest, you moaning in his lips trying to break away from the passionate kiss to catch your breath. Neteyam bit your lip, pulling it with his fangs, now moving his hands between your hair and around your waist, pressing your head against his lips making you groan as your flickering fingers grazed the hard skin of his abdomen. His warm skin contracting under your fingers, as if you were made of pure fire, so much so that when you felt more confident of yourself and your body, you sat on top of him. Your legs tied to his pelvis, squeezing him to you as he did to your body, shuddering when his hand that was once on his waist was now climbing up your bare back, making you arch your body like a cat. You trembled when he came off your lips with a snap that accompanied the sound of the waterfall shattering against the surface of the water, making you pant and gasp to regain the air you had lost. Your red face and half-closed eyes while Neteyam pressed your fingertips on your body.
You feared, for a second, that everything would be over after that kiss and that the embarrassment would lead you two to stay away, but your fears were swept away when you tried to get up from his legs and Neteyam prevented you, starting to kiss your jaw. In silence your bodies were calling each other, you felt the pressure of his whole being against you and new electric shocks hit your back. His soft, moist lips drew wet kisses on your jaw, starting to bite and suck down your neck as your head bent backwards, keeping your eyes half closed. His tongue was even more raw with your already sensitive neck, rough and greedy explored every inch of your skin, occasionally pressing his canines, panting raucously as he savored you. Letting sweet moans come out of your throat in despair as your fingers crawled into his braids, seeking comfort. The curious and hungry eyes of Neteyam studied your skin, feeling contentment in feeling the trembling and shivers he caused you, enjoying your heavy breaths and the noises you made to contain the moans, as if you could be ashamed of something he was trying to hear with such desperation. Your back gently collided against the grass when Neteyam stretched you under him, sliding his lips down your body, as his fingers gently removed the braided top that covered your breasts, as if to give you time to stop him if you wanted. Your eyes rolled backwards as his rough tongue collided against your nipple, and his hand crept in agonizing slowly between your legs, caressing it. You bit your lip violently when you felt the gentle and circular movements of his thumb on your clitoris, feeling the chills come down and hit right where Neteyam was playing with his fingers.
The red cheeks began to burn on your face, as you carried a hand to your mouth to force you not to let him hear your stifled moans, even if your hot body betrayed you. A smothered scream of pleasure instinctively came out of your lips when Neteyam’s fingers slid very easily into you. You suddenly felt airless, your eyes wide open and your body trembling, eager to hear what else he had in store for you. Neteyam’s hoarse laugh made your tail stand on end behind you, while the tip of your head swelled because of excitation, making you blush even more. "No need to be embarrassed, it’s normal that you like this, ma Tanhì" he whispered against your skin, making you arch your back again because of his rough pumping on your breasts. "Shh, baby, just… enjoy the moment and let me hear how much you like it" Neteyam’s voice was getting lower and slower, more sensual, knowing that you would like this. Swallow loudly when Neteyam made his way up to your thighs, leaving behind a trail of burning wet kisses, accompanying his movements with his fingers firmly inside you, which continued to move as if they were waves, making your legs tremble. Your sensitive breasts made you shudder because of the light breeze and saliva that the boy had left on the tip, and when you lowered your head to look for his eyes, you found him blowing against the bundle of nerves that yearned to be satisfied. You once again felt his tongue but this time he was working through your needy folds, loving the way one of his muscles could make you feel all that ecstasy. You whined as your hands went to clench the soft grass to find a foothold to release the frustration of too much pleasure, dropping your head backwards, hoping to muffle as much as possible your desperate moans. Neteyam looked for your face, eager to notice the impatience of your eyes and watch your face become a mess just for him, with the aim of giving you as much pleasure as possible, wanting to feel you up to bring you orgasm. He started savoring your intimacy, tickling your folds with the tip of your tongue, making you grunt as you clenched your teeth. When he started sucking, you felt something break in you, you couldn’t even cover your mouth as you groaned his name without shame, watching as he was focused on feeding on your excitement. Your hand again found place in his hair, pulling them and accompanying his movements as he gave you pleasure. "Look how wet you are for me, you wanted me so badly?" Neteyam said with sensual voice, between a lick and a lukewarm breath to make you shiver and whimping.
Your legs began to feel tired and heavy around his cheeks, trying to close together to stop feeling that tingling and flickering caused by too much pleasure. Neteyam wrapped his big hands around your thighs, opening them wider, locking them as much as possible against the ground below as his fingers sank into your soft flesh. His jaw continued to move between your legs with a heartbreaking rhythm that went from slow and gentle to rude and fast, making your walls tighten around his wet muscle. Neteyam broke away from you when he felt that your intimacy was wet enough not to make you feel pain when he slips inside you. His eyes peered at your body beneath him, still trembling and sensitive, touching your already sweaty skin, worshipping how you writhed and gasped under him. You could only take courage later, drawing him to your lips after your fingers hooked to the necklace on his neck. You tasted your own intrinsic moods in your best friend’s saliva as you embraced his body between your legs, rubbing his covered intimacy with your naked, feeling him grunting in your mouth. You smiled as you felt him vulnerable above you, taking advantage of that moment to put yourself on top of him, your back arched toward him to allow you to continue the kiss that was giving relief to both of you. You began to rub yourself on his still-covered sex, feeling pleasure when his throbbing muscle found space in your heat, moaning with pleasure, as your hands on his chest could feel the contractions and chills running through his body as well.
"Hmhm, I know something you’d like to try." Neteyam said as he wrapped his hands around your bare hips, observing the red and purple spots that covered your body. "What?" you whispered in response, as you detached yourself from his lips, observing him with ardent desire. One of his hands came up on your face, placing three fingers on your jaw and thumb on your lips, caressing your soft mouth, and then gently tapping on it. "Open." he ordered. His eyes following your every move, worshipping the way you obeyed him by opening your mouth and taking his thumb in your mouth, without breaking eye contact. You instinctively began to lick and suck his finger greedily, whining as you felt the slightly salty taste against your tongue. "Good girl, you already understood" Neteyam continued, as his hand on his side began to explore every inch of your body with desire. The Na'vi lowered you to the height of his loincloth and you smiled before taking your face away from where Neteyam was leading you, back on his face, sliding his salivated thumb out of his mouth. "Hmhm, here I decide, 'Teyam" you whispered to his ear, noticing with the corner of your eye his jaw contracted as your fingers find their way under his loincloth, just after picking up some of your moods still dripping from your intimacy, wrapping your phalanges around his needy manhood. You heard him growl after panting because of your touch, his chest rising and the frustrated breath of his nostrils against your neck, making you smile for the effect you had on him. Your hand began to slide up and down his erection with gradual speed, you felt his hoarse and rough groans against your skin, his hands clasping your thighs and his breathless breaths. Your lips went to tease the shell of his ear, leaving some magnate kisses or slight licks. When you felt quite satisfied with how he was also pining under you, you lowered yourself making sure you kept eye contact. Your hand went to move and later rip off his loincloth; Neteyam bit his lip and then groaned deeply when your mouth wrapped around his glans, starting to tease the tip with your tongue. Your head slid along his entire length to completely conceal it, immediately moving the head with greed, making him hiss and wince under you. The vein of his penis pulsed incessantly against the inside of your cheek, as he bit his lip and carried a hand to collect your hair in a tight vise.You felt his erection collide several times against the deepest point of your throat, letting you fuck your mouth by Neteyam, before breaking off with tears of pleasure sliding on your face. Your lips swollen and reddened, covered with drool as you tried to start breathing regularly sent him into ecstasy.
The pre-cum that came out of Neteyam’s sex illuminated your lips, making him turn on more to the vision of you with swollen and dirty lips of him. He took you by the hair and carried you back under him, and then he opened your legs and slid inside you with a facility that you would not have expected. You moaned breathlessly as his hips collided with yours in that way, carrying your hands against his back, beginning to scratch and tighten his skin with need. Your cheeks reddened that welcomed other lukewarm tears, your legs tight around his pelvis and the strong heat that at each push accumulated inside you. His tail wrapped around your heel, holding you still due to spasms of pleasure. Neteyam’s hoarse groans did not delay in striking your ears, as he held you by the hips, caressing your trembling thighs and twitching at each of his lunges. Your sweaty bodies colliding with every little movement, making you more hot and eager to consume you. Your lips met once again, growling at each other every time Neteyam pushed against your G-spot, your willows stirring each other’s hormones still stuck in your mouths. You bit his lips when he began to push and grind inside you shamelessly, growling at him before whining, making him excite even more as he purposely struck where your walls held him tighter due to sensitivity. You felt Neteyam’s body stiffen and twitching above you just before reaching orgasm and pouring out of you in time, then carrying two fingers inside you and starting to pump until you reach your peak shortly after him.
You whimpered loudly after the strong orgasm that mercilessly hit you; your heavy, sore thighs as your orgasm crashed into him and hot splashes of your cum poured over his hand. He gasped entranced, stunned by the lust and how your body looked so soft and relaxed after cumming. You took long deep breaths, looking at the green leaves so far away from you because of the trees too high, the sun that lightly struck the place where you were made you return to reality. You blush when Neteyam lays next to you, looking up at him too.
"Well, then…" He started, while you recovered with your hand the pieces of clothes to cover yourself again, hoping that you both would turn a blind eye. "Hmm…" You whine while avoiding his gaze with all your heart. "Do you think after all this, you realize I have a crush on you? If even this way you don’t understand that I like you, I don’t know what other kind of attention to give you to make it clear" he said casually. You shuddered and looked at him in shock. "Excuse you?" you whispered not really wanting to understand the meaning of his words. "I say, did you understand that you are the girl I was trying to conquer?" Your eyes met and you swallowed. "I don’t know how to ask you more directly than that, and don’t think I’m not afraid to ruin our friendship. But I like you, not just aesthetically, i love every part of you. I’ve been trying to make you understand this for six years, not that I didn’t like you as a child…" His voice was slightly shaky, as you watched him in silence, trying to figure out how to respond. "You never let me know…" you whispered as you blushed. Neteyam laughed and led you to lean on his chest, wrapping your body with arms "You really are a skxawng, ma Tanhì. I’m supposed to be teaching you. But how to figure out that someone has a crush on you." You hit him blushing while hiding your face on his chest. "Yeah, yeah, lessons from a guy who doesn’t even know how to come out and only does it after having sex with his crush. The great Karyu, Neteyam te Suli Tsyeyk'itan" You teased him and then got pinched on the hips by his hands. "Not that you ever noticed I’ve had a crush on you for ages." Neteyam looked at you perplexed, and you couldn’t contain the laughter.
"See? Other than 'lessons'. You’re more Skxawng than I am, ma 'Teyam."

ABU DHABI
The following morning, Sebastian had woken up to Sofia on his bed while he was on the sofa in the most uncomfortable position ever. He was pretty sure his body would ache for the rest of the day. Sofia was perfectly fine, apart from a small headache from last night’s previous events. She sat in Sebastian’s bed watching reruns of the Golden Girls.
“Morning, champ. I thought you weren’t going to wake up until the afternoon.” Sofia chuckled.
“You thought wrong. I’m actually going to be productive . . as soon as my bones stop aching.”
“Let’s go get breakfast, my treat.” Sofia said as she stood up, letting the sheets fall to the ground. She had slept in one of his shirts and her favorite pair of silk pajama shorts, something Sebastian liked. “I’ll meet you in the lobby.” She said to him before leaving his room.
On her way out, she had bumped into into Mark and Fernando, who were also on their way to get breakfast. “Hey.” The woman greeted them casually as she walked back to her room.
“Hi?” Mark gave a tiny wave then looked at the room she had just come out of.
“Are they . . . you know?” Fernando questioned Mark.
The Aussie shrugged. “I don’t know. . .” They stayed silent for a few seconds then heard the hotel room door open once again. Sebastian, with his hair all messy, walked outside. “Hey mate, what’s going on?” Hoping they would get an answer out of him.
“Not much.”
Fernando wasn’t taking that for an answer. “Are you and Sofia seeing each other?”
“Oh god.” Mark mumbled clearly embarrassed.
“Me and Sofia? Why? Who’s asking?” Sebastian was fully awake now.
“Me.” Fernando replied. “I did hear one guy from MotoGP was thinking of asking her out. I can’t remember his name though.”
Suddenly Sebastian felt like his world came crashing down. Someone else had a crush on Sofia? No, that couldn’t be true.
“MotoGP? So . . . We should find out who because those MotoGP guys are not good enough for Sofia.” Sebastian confidently said. “They’ll break her heart and probably leave her crying.”
“Oh! I remember his name!” Fernando said. “Casey Stoner!”
“Another Aussie?” Sebastian rolled his eyes playfully.
“Funny.” Replied Mark, followed by a deep sigh. “Just don’t do anything stupid. Knowing you, you’re going to do it anyway, but just remember that I warned you.”
“You’re such a dad or maybe like an older brother. Are you an older brother? You give me dad vibes though.” Fernando told Mark as the pair walked away to the elevator.
Sebastian brushed it off and thought about his choices. He could either tell Sofia about his true feelings and possibly get rejected or say nothing and watch the love of his life be with someone else. . . Why did life have to be so confusing?
“Shit.” He mumbled to himself. “Fuck!” He said rather loudly which caused Mark and Fernando to give him some confused looks.
“What’s wrong with him? He’s the world champion, he’s got nothing to worry about.” Fernando said as the elevator doors opened.
‘If only you knew’ Mark thought to himself.
Sofia was talking to Jenson when Sebastian spotted her in the lobby. She had some denim shorts and a simple white shirt that fit a little big on her. She said goodbye to Jenson since he was leaving for his flight. It was all fine until she turned around to face Sebastian. On her shirt was a Casey Stoner graphic. Sebastian could feel his world come crashing down. Yeah it was just a shirt, but it felt like a thousand knives stabbing his heart. Dramatic? Yeah, but this was Sebastian we’re talking about.
“Nice shirt.” He looked at her outfit.
“Thanks! I got it a few months ago, well I didn’t buy it. Casey gave it to me when some friends and I went to a MotoGP race. We should go to a race together, come on, it’ll be fun.” Sofia encouraged.
“Casey? You two are on first name basis now?” He wondered.
“Well that’s his name?”
“Yeah, but . . . Never mind.”
All Sofia said was a simple “okay?”
Instead of being the usual talkative person, Sebastian stayed rather quiet during their entire breakfast. He would occasionally make a little conversation, but he didn’t make an effort, which didn’t go unnoticed by Sofia.
“Alright, what’s wrong with you?” She had enough of the quietness that Sebastian was giving. “You’re acting weird and honestly, Seb, you’re upsetting me in front of my waffles.”
“It’s only weird if you make it weird.” He replied.
“Now you’re being an asshole. What’s wrong? Are we not friends?”
Friends. That hurt.
“Yes, but nothing is wrong.”
It was clear that he had made the wrong choice, one that he would regret for so many years.

He’s staring again.
You can see him across the cafeteria, nibbling on a pretzel while his eyes remain laser-focused on you. He’s been like this for the past week, ever since Mr. Ames assigned the two of you to be lab partners. Taking a deep sigh, you turn to Barb and Nancy.
“Can one of you tell him to stop?”
Barb offers a sarcastic chuckle, shaking her head. “Just…tell him you’re not interested.” She’s trying to be helpful, giving a straightforward and tactful answer, but you know it isn’t that simple.
“Ames told me that this is the first time he’s ever had Eddie show up to class more than two days in a row,” you point out. “And he said it’s, and I quote, ‘not a coincidence’ that it’s when he partnered us up.”
Nancy takes a brief glance in Eddie’s direction before looking back at you. “He’s really not a bad guy,” she reasons. “I interviewed him and his band for the paper once, and he was pretty nice. Intense, for sure, but sweet.”
“And therein lies the problem,” you counter, “I don’t do ‘intense.’ I don’t make tabletop cafeteria speeches, or confront Jason Carver at every turn, or tell teachers to ‘kiss my ass’ when they ask me to turn in my homework.” Your personality couldn’t be further from that if you tried.
“Incoming,” Barb mutters under her breath.
Before you can scramble from your seat, you feel two fingers tap your shoulder.
“Hey, partner,” Eddie says, giving a tight, awkward wave. “Did you, uh, wanna study tonight?”
Your brows furrow in confusion. “We don’t have a test.”
“Oh, right.” His cheeks tinge pink with embarrassment. “Would you wanna just grab some pizza? Or we can go get burgers at Benny’s?”
His little hopeful smile tugs at your heart. You almost say yes, desperate to avoid further conversation, but then you consider the prospect of him standing on a table at the diner. And what if you ended up in a relationship with him? Would he pull you up on stage at one of his shows? Kiss you in front of your locker where anyone could see your outright public display of affection?
“Um, I don’t know if that’s a good idea.” You can’t even make eye contact with him, keeping your gaze trained on the ground. When you still see his scuffed Reeboks next to your chair, you indulge him with an explanation. “We’re really different, y’know? I don’t know if it’ll work.”
“Opposites attract, right?” he tries, biting his lip when you still don’t agree. “O-Okay. Sorry to bother you, or whatever.”
Your voice is barely audible, just a tiny squeak, when you ask, “I’ll see you in chem later?”
“Nah,” he shakes his head with a terse laugh, “not really feeling it today.”
You, Barb, and Nancy watch as he walks back to the Hellfire table, utterly defeated.
“Well,” Nancy says with a shrug, “you sure made him quiet that time.”

part 1 | …
Tumblr media
Ever since you bumped heads with Jay in the 3rd grade you two have been inseparable since. Both your mothers had thought you two would end up getting married. That is not the case. Friends are what you are and what you will remain to be. Jay has never shown any romantic feelings for you. As cold as he may seem to be, you never felt the possibility of him feeling more for you. After all, he dated girls left and right. And none of them were the one in his eyes.. So what made you think that you were? Having a long time crush on a friend can be exhausting and at some point it becomes embarrassing. So by the time you and Jay graduated that was when the feelings were stored deep away. Never to be seen again.
“You know you really should get out there…get to know some people.” Is what your friends would say. Telling you to not mope about Jay if you weren’t going to do anything about it.
They were right. But you were stubborn. Of course you weren’t going to do anything about your crush. But you didn’t want to let go of your feelings for him. There was just a sliver of hope left in you.
“Okay fine I’ll explore other options.” You lied.
That was two years ago. Now, you're in your 2nd year of college going into your 3rd. No significant other. Just pointless dates that never went anywhere. Jay on the other hand was thriving hundreds of miles away from you. You hated the fact that he occupied your mind every now and then. Every so often the two of you would talk on the phone, just to catch up. Nothing further. You two hadn’t seen each other since summer. And you did miss your best friend.
It was towards the end of finals. You were studying for the last one. Last one and then you were free. Eyes glued to the computer you focused on the endless number of lessons you missed.
ring ring ring
Turning towards your phone charging on the bed side table you noticed that Jay’s name was on the screen. Studying can wait. You picked up the phone bringing it to your ear.
“Hello?”
“Y/n, what are you doing for summer?”
“Nothing yet…why?”
“Come with me to the East Coast. You remember the beach house my parents own? I’m inviting a few friends to stay. I think you’ll like them. It’ll be for half the summer, maybe longer if we feel like it.”
Your eyes widened. “This is so sudden. I don’t know if I can. I mea-”
“My mom talked to yours’, she said you were free.”
You blinked. Of course she did. “Okay, well, then consider me there.”
“Perfect, see you then.” He hung up
You stretched your hands before continuing to type away. But the sudden invite did cause you to stray away from focusing on your studies. Who were the few other friends? When were you leaving? Where were you staying? This took over your mind. What a great way to distract you from studying.
next day
“So he just asked you to stay with him in the East Coast during the summer?”
“Yeah.”
“Just you two?”
“No.”
“Oh. Bummer.” You were telling your one (and only really) friend Amara. You two decided to go to the same college after graduation and have been close since.
“You’re still so hung up on him. Like why don’t you just confess. It’ll be good to get the rejection out of the way.” She said doing her school work.
You lifted your head from the desk. “Well it’s not that easy. And also rejection is the whole point. I don’t want to be even though I know I will be.”
“You needa figure this out. It’s been years. And when I say years I mean YEARS.”
You roll your eyes at your friend burning holes into your body as she stares you down. “Yeah.” You sigh. She’s right.
“Well, I’m leaving next week once I get back home.” You say continuing your work.
“Really? That sudden?”
“Yup, he texted me last night letting me know the extra details. He’s mentioned before that his family has a beach house and I’ve never been invited until today. It’s in Delaware, of all places.”
“Ohhh his daddy’s got money I see.”
You chuckle at her statement. “I am excited though.”
“Who knows things may change between you two. And for the better.”
“Mmm I highly doubt it, but a girl can only hope.”
“You gotta stop being so hard on yourself y/n, really.”
time skip
You wiped the hair out of your face as you got the last of your things together. Two carry ons and one large backpack. It didn’t seem like enough. But it was going to have to do. Besides, some shopping out there wouldn’t hurt. The screen of your phone lit up.
I’m here. The text was from Jay. He wanted to pick you up for your guy's flight.
As you were getting ready to haul everything to the car you heard the footsteps of your mom getting closer and closer. “Honey, you ready?”
“Yes, I am just about to load everything into the car.”
“You know I won’t be mad if something happens between you and Jay.”
“Mom, enough. It’s not like that.”
“You might say so, but I see how that boy looks at you.”
“Well you’re wrong. Can you please help me?” A second pair of footsteps came closer.
knock knock
“Hi Mrs. L/n. Hi y/n.” It was Jay. Did he hear the whole conversation between you and your mom? You cursed yourself silently as he came up to you engulfing you in a hug. His scent reaching your nose, intoxicating you.
“Wow, you smell good.” He said pulling away. His tone was almost nervous.
You try not to blush. “Thank you, I guess. I didn’t even put anything on yet. I was actually about to say the same for you.”
“There’s no need to for you.” The two of you stood there for a second, his eyes to the ground yours on him, before your mom cleared her throat. Indicating for you two to get moving.
“Oh right, I’ll take these, we’re going to be late.” He picked up the two carry ons, one in each hand, in a rushed manner.
“Have fun you two!” Your mom shouted from the driveway before Jay sped off in his car.
It was quiet. Eerily quiet. Something was on his mind you could tell. Glancing over to the man you noticed his knuckles white from gripping the steering wheel so tight.
“So,” he broke the silence, “how have you been?”
“Oh, uh, I’ve been good, just tired from studying for finals.” You sigh.
“Tell me about it. But don’t worry our trip will take the weight off your shoulders. There are some people I’d like you to meet. I think you guys will click pretty well.”
You kept silent. Hopefully. You noticed from the corner of your eye him turning his head toward you a couple times.
“Hey, are you good, you’re pretty quiet.”
“Yeah, I’m good just tired, I woke up early to pack.”
He smiled. “Of course you did. Always been the same since high school.”
You lightly laughed before closing your eyes while he drove to the airport. Jay noticed your body slump. He gave you one last look before continuing to focus on the road.
“Y/n…Y/N. It’s time to wake up, I’ve already parked.” His voice so delicate as if he was trying to put you back to sleep. You opened your eyes, Jay’s face was inches from your trying to make sure you were going to wake up.
“Come on sleeping beauty, we gotta go.” You finally process where you are while getting out of the car. You both grab your stuff and head to the terminal. All of your belongings stacked up nicely into the cart, both tickets in your hand while Jay pushed the cart. The two of you made your way to the terminal after security.
“The gate is this way.” Jay walks ahead of you towards a group of young guys. You cautiously walk behind your friend. Meeting people has always been difficult, now meeting a group of guys? This was going to be a long trip. Jay turns around motioning for you to walk faster. Finally reaching the group of guys you made eye contact with the lot of them. They were all cute for lack of better words.
“These are my friends from college. Jungwon, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Niki, Heesung, and Jake.”
They all gave you a wave or smile, kindly introducing themselves to you. You took in the presence of the group fixating on- what was his name? Jake? He was pretty.
“So you’re y/n? Jay always talks about you, it’s nice to finally meet you. I’m Jake.” The tall man makes his way to you reaching out his hand for you to shake it. His eyes meeting yours, there was a sort of sparkle to them. He seemed interesting.
“It’s nice to meet you too --all of you.” You smile trying to hide your nervousness. Suddenly the announcement for the flight surrounded the terminal.
“Okay shall we get on the plane?” Jay gave a smile before having everyone walk over.
“Jay switch with me, I wanna get to know Y/n more.” You heard Jake whisper to Jay. You could see Jay’s smirk from the corner of your eye.
“Okay, here ya go,” he exchanges the ticket with Jake.
You walk up past them a bit, acting oblivious to the conversation.
“Hey, y/n. Looks like we’re sitting next to each other.” He flashed his ticket to you with a smile on his face.
“Oh nice, we can get to know each other.” You smile back. You were hoping to sit with Jay but his pretty friend will do.

you had always been the shy kind, never go out of your way to put the spotlight on you. you always preferred being in the shadows, even in karate. you wouldn’t participate in most tournaments because of just how shy you were. but that didn’t stop you from getting a crush on a certain someone.
eli. aka, hawk.
known for his antics in cobra kai, in fact, you hated him for a good portion of his reputation, especially what happened to the larussos. your abrupt feelings started when he turned over his leaf and his infamous mohawk was gone. he was a totally different person. someone you could actually like.
you had never been late to practice, always on time or even earlier so you could get some more work in.
the one day you were late to you saw some new faces in the dojo. and one in particular. eli. sam saw your confusion and pulled to to the side, “cobra kai is joining us.” your eyes widened, “what? as in..training here now?” she nodded, “yup. dad and johnny are working together. so here we are.”
you hesitated, dropping your bag. “great. only adding fuel to the fire.” you eyes stared daggers in the back of eli’s head.
why was this suddenly happening to you?
after that day, being around eli all day, and trying your best to avoid him. so, you stayed with sam that night.
“god, sam! how could this happen?” you huffed, falling into her bed face first into a pillow, sam laughed, “it’s not the end of the world, y/n. it’ll be fine!” you lifted your head and looked at her. “fine? i’ll be fine?” you retorted.
“yes! i mean just tell him how you feel! maybe he thinks you’re cute and then bam you will ride off into the sunset together” she threw a grape into her mouth, wiggling her eyebrows. “or, he laughs in my face, rejects me and goes to tell all of his friends how much of a loser i am” you sat up, pushing your hair out of the way. “just try it, y/n. you never know, the universe might be on your side.”
you kept thinking about your conversation with sam, what if she’s right? maybe you can just tell him you like him and it’ll be all over with. but on the other hand he could embarrass you in front of everyone and laugh at you. which was the scenario you kept playing in your mind.
getting the courage to just walk up to someone and put yourself in that position is something that terrifies you. which is why you’re so reserved.
one day in particular you’re earlier than usual, hoping to work on some things to help you improve. you had only been there a few minutes, earbuds in listening to your playlist while going over your workouts. without even realizing someone else was there, you felt the softest touch on your shoulder which brought you out of your head. ripping away your earbuds you spun around meeting with eli.
he started “i didn’t mean to scare you, but i tried calling for you but you weren’t answering” you hummed, feeling your ears go red. “sorry, i tend to get in the zone when i have my earbuds in”
“don’t worry. i just wanted to ask how come you haven’t participated in any tournaments? you’re insanely talented” you shrugged, looking away. “i get pretty nervous when i’m put on the spot. so, i just don’t. daniel is okay with it so i just kinda stay in the shadows”
eli frowned, “there’s still some time before everyone else gets here, how about we go over some moves?” you blinked, messing with the earbud strings. “sure.”
“so, you spent over an hour talking with him while training and you still didn’t say anything?” sam groaned, staring at you from her bed. “i know! i know. i was being stupid” you ran your fingers through your hair letting out a frustrated sigh. “i don’t think i could ever ask him that. i could barely look at him” you admitted. sam, stood up, resting her hands on your shoulders. “you are a wonderful person, y/n. you’re beautiful, funny, and incredibly talented. eli would be a fool if he rejected you, and i’d make sure of that.”
the following week you were back at the dojo, as it got closer to tournaments daniel and johnny had everyone do extra work. you and sam stood at the pond, talking as everyone else arrived. “he’s so looking at you” she said, catching you off guard. “what? “eli!” she exclaimed in a whisper. you looked over your shoulder spotting him, but watched as he quickly adverted his eyes.
sam grinned as you turned back, “i think someone has a crush” she wiggled her eyebrows but you quickly shut that thought down. “sam.” she rolled her eyes, “just go talk to him. i’ll be right here and if anything goes south i’ll baxk you up” you sighed, “promise?” sam nodded.
you began walking across the yard to eli who was now on his phone. “eli?” you hummed and he looked up, fumbling to put his phone away in his pocket. “yeah?” “i hope you don’t find this weird or smithing but do you wanna go out one day maybe and get food or something? if not it’s totally okay because i wouldn’t want to go out with someone as shy-“ he laughed, cutting you off. “of course, i’d love to go out sometime. i really want to get to know you.” your face was burning now, “oh, okay awesome!” you totally blanked on what to say after. “should we exchange numbers?”

02. sweet stranger
Tumblr media
genre : idol! au, fake dating au to actually really dating, fluff, no angst i think!!!!! maybe, my humor sorry
warnings : mentions of drinking, and yn being a little sad and taehyun comforts her :3 that’s it i think..
summary : in which — yn who just debuted gets into a dating scandal with one of the most famous group members because of a misunderstanding and is forced to fake date with him. what happens if it isn’t as bad as she thinks? and and what if she finds comfort with him?
Tumblr media
“the total is 10,000 won. thank you for shopping with us.”
you gave the cashier the money and walked out the store. you needed some fresh air to ease up. you felt too nervous about your debut. but hey, what can a drink not fix?
you sat down outside the store and started drinking. very immature of you, drinking your worries away. but you don’t know who to talk too other than the members.
you felt a tear fall down your cheek. but rather than wiping it away, you chose to ignore it and continue drinking.
you were pulled back into reality when you heard a voice. “excuse me? are you okay?” he says.
you turned to your side to see a tall guy with messy pink-ish blonde hair and big eyes. that’s the only thing you could see on his face since he was wearing a mask. he must think im crazy.
“oh um. im fine, thanks for asking.”
silence filled the atmosphere. you thought he’d leave but when you peeked at the side you can still see him standing there.
is he a ghost or something oh my god am i dying before i even get to debut???? please, i can’t waste my two years like that! i haven’t even been to a twice concert!
but to your suprise, he actually sat down beside you. he opened his mask and also took out a drink, and placed it on the table. you looked up to him, confused.
“you can talk to me. you don’t have to be embarrassed cause you don’t know me. im sure talking to someone will make you feel atleast slightly relieved.” you could tell that he was giving you a small smile because his big doe eyes grew smaller as he smiled.
“umm.. well i don’t know where to start.” you replied, voice lower than before.
“i don’t mind. take your time.”
“okay um i can’t tell you my real situation right now but i’ll use like a psychology or whatever you call it.”
“do you mean analogy?” he chuckled softly. you hid your face out of embarassment.
“yeah. that. so okay its like im joining a team or something but im scared at how other people will think of us. i don’t want them to look bad just because people don’t like me you know? like i don’t want them to lose popularity. or something. so im worried about public’s opinion and stuff.”
“you make it sound like you’re an idol debuting in a group thats well known and you’re scared netizens won’t like you and it’ll effect the group.”
thats exactly my situation. i hate smart people sometimes. “eh, who knows. i might be”
“sure you are. well, i think that you shouldn’t worry about this.”
“thats easy to say” you sighed.
“im not finished. i get it that you’re worried but im sure people will like you as long as you’re not rude or something. why should people care if you join the group or not? they don’t know you. im sure you’re an amazing person with an amazing personality and that they will love you.”
“oh wow. thanks” you gave him a small chuckle.
“what? im not really good at giving advices. but i am trying to comfort you..”
“and i really appreciate it. thank you ... ???”
“taehyun. im taehyun” he says.
“thank you, taehyun. i mean it. im sorry but i’ll go now, my friends are gonna be worried if i come home late.”
“of course. do you need me to talk you home?” he offers, but you kindly reject. you both gave eachother your goodbyes and went to your own ways.
while walking home, you felt relief wash over you. you thought about how sweet it was of him to comfort you, regardless you guys not knowing eachother. he stayed and comforted you even though he does not even know your name.
you hoped to see him again. and next time hopefully not crying.

Finding the perfect gift (Rúben Dias x Reader)
**Not much to say about this one, just a cute little request 😊 enjoy!! ❤️**

The news of Ines' pregnancy had made everyone happy, of course. But Rúben was probably the happiest of all of Bernardo's teammates. You could tell by the way he beamed whenever Ines called him Uncle Rúben and found it adorable. He was ready to spoil that baby as much as possible.
"We are invited to the baby shower", he announced one day when he came back from training.
"I would be more surprised if we weren't", you laughed. "When is it?"
"Next week. And I need to buy a present".
"Sure. I have a couple of things saved on my Amazon wishlist that we can order".
"But that would be your present. I have to get one that's mine".
That made you raise an eyebrow. "Pretty sure that, as a couple, we can get away with something that is from the both of us. You know, like we do for birthdays, Christmas, …".
"Yes, but it's Bernardo. Not a random teammate. So I want to make a bigger effort".
"Alright. I know what I'm ordering so go ahead and get something on your own".
He thought it would be so easy. It was just a baby, right? And his friends would appreciate anything he got for their child but…he just couldn’t find the right gift, at all.
“Can I see your Amazon account for a second?”, he asked you one day when he saw you ordering something.
“What for?”
“I ordered something from it once and I need to check one thing quickly if you don’t mind”.
“Sure”, you said, not thinking much about it. “Let me finish the order”.
When you were done, you passed the iPad to him, still logged into your account and he went to your wishlist right away but…there were no baby things! Your order history showed the clothes and toys you had bought for baby Silva but all the other things you were supposed to have saved on your wishlist were gone. You and your being an organization freak. It wasn’t the best time for that.
Rúben realised his mistake was probably wanting to buy the gift online. He couldn’t see the sizes or colours well so better to go to a shop. But once he was there, he was overwhelmed. One of the ladies who worked there tried to help him by showing him half the store but most of it just seemed like things the baby was probably going to get from everyone or just useless stuff.
When he got home that day, you were on the sofa reading a book and didn’t have time to say hello to him before he sat down dramatically.
“What’s that face for?”
"I give up", he said, placing his head on your stomach.
"You are giving football up? Come on, you are not that bad".
“The gift”, he said, voice muffled by the jumper you were wearing.
“What gift?”
“The baby’s”.
“You still don’t have one? Rúben, the baby shower is in two days. Just put your name on the cards I got for what I bought. It’ll be fine”.
He looked up at you, still not willing to give up.
“Maybe if we knew the sex of the baby, it’d be easier. It’s the parent’s fault”.
“Don’t be so old-fashioned, Rúben. Toys and colours are unisex”.
He groaned, hiding his face on your stomach again.
“Are you ready to ask for my help now?”, you said, trying not to laugh.
“I’m ready to beg for your help”.
“I quite like the idea of you begging”.
“Can we go to the shop now? Please?”
“Sure, there is one near, around the…”.
“Not that one”, he said, making you frown. “I was there now and I don’t want to embarrass myself more”.
After a 20-minute drive, since the baby shop near your place was now off-limits, you got to the one in a shopping centre.
"Ok, did you have any ideas of what you wanted to get? There are toys, clothes, things for the nursery, for their travel bag, …".
"Why are babies so complicated?"
You bit your lip trying not to laugh at his little tantrum. It was weird to see Rúben not in control of the situation. And it was very amusing too.
"Hi, can I help you?"
He turned hearing the voice of the shop assistant ready to reject her help but you interrupted.
"Yes, thank you. We needed a few things for a newborn".
"Oh, congratulations! You aren't even showing, when are you due?"
Rúben's pale face made you laugh. You couldn't help it.
"I'm not pregnant. It's for a friend. Her baby shower is in a few days and we wanted to get something cute for her baby".
"Of course, sorry. But you would make gorgeous babies. Just saying".
Rúben was now looking pensive.
"She isn't wrong".
"But babies are so complicated", you mocked him.
You put your hands on his shoulders to move him lower and kiss his frown before leading him to follow the shopping assistant that was ready to show you all the things you could buy and then some.
"This is one of our best baby bags. It has space for the diapers, the bottles and all that, but also an area for things the parents might want to carry. So there is no need for handbags or anything else".
"It's lovely", you said. "It almost looks like a normal handbag".
"She probably has one already", said Rúben, annoyed at how basic all the options were.
"Well, they'll be traveling a lot so it's good to have more than one".
He sighed and you took that as a sign to look for something else.
"Rúben, you don't like anything", you whispered to him and noticed his defeated face. "Thank you for your help. We'll think about all the options and come back for something".
"I just…I just want to do something original".
"How about you make your own gift?"
"How?"
"Well, there are all these new things like scrapbooks to write down all the first things the baby does. Or boxes to keep stuff to remember the pregnancy or whatever. I don't know. It was never good at arts and crafts so I went for something basic but useful", you said, shrugging.
Rúben's response was to grab your hand and lead you to another shop…an arts and crafts shop?
"You are always so literal", you laughed. But he finally had an idea. And you could tell how much his mood had improved.
Half an hour later, you left the shop with several bags full of boxes, pencils and other materials he needed for his gift.
And when you got home, it was time to get it all ready. You helped him, picking the colours that looked the cutest together and recommending what each little box could be for. Rúben used that time to teach you more Portuguese words, which he always loved doing.
"Done", he said, looking proud.
"Uncles trying to find the perfect gift for their nephews are so complicated".
                                    **
When you got to the baby shower, you left Rúben alone so you could join Ines and her family.
"Hey, can you take my gift somewhere else?", he asked Bernardo.
"Why? Just put it with the others".
"It's…fragile".
"What did you get?"
"I didn't get it, I made it".
Bernardo smiled at his friend, not surprised at all.
"That's the most Rúben thing I could imagine. Let me take it to our room. Ines and I will open it together later. I'm sure it'll be the best gift our baby got today".

Sinnoh Gym Leader Headcanons Pt 1:
Roark:
- has a, dare i say, “rocky” relationship with his father. originally his father wanted riley to take over orebourgh’s gym, but since he rejected it roark was his second choice. he’s still kind of bitter over it and likes to rebel. (i.e “my dad told me not to do this” *does the thing directly after*)
- every fossil that the other miners find is double-checked by roark because he knows his shit.
- when he was in orebourgh trainer’s school he would be that kid moaning in the back of his class bc he thinks that’s peak comedy. also because he knows it’ll piss his dad off.
Gardenia:
- gardenia can interact with fantina’s ghosts without crying, and that’s it. one time, she tried to interact with cynthia’s spiritomb. it took the elite four and cynthia thirty minutes to calm the girl down.
- yes she loves plants but she’s also a piercer hear me out she can definitely do piercings she’d be that girl that gives other girls piercings in the school bathroom.
- is eterna’s local weed dealer. not as good as morty’s shit, but volkner tells her she’s getting there. cynthia definitely knows but looks the other way.
Maylene:
- maylene had her first kiss with aaron at age seven, as they were childhood friends. they both exclaimed “ew!” as soon as their lips touched.
- her mom left her when she was twelve bc of her dad’s gambling problem. her dad was never home which left her in the care of her grandmother. she’s angry over this. so, so angry. but cynthia tells her one day that she herself was raised by her grandmother, too – and look at her now: sinnoh’s champion. this inspires maylene to train harder.
- it was rumored in veilstone that maylene’s hands were made of pure steel which is why she could punch so hard. one time as if to prove this rumor, flint asked her to punch him in the stomach as hard as she could. the league had to shut down for the day as flint recovered in the hospital. it was awkward to explain to the doctors and nurses as to what happened. no, flint did not want to press charges but he’s terribly embarrassed. aaron tried to warn him, so he figures he deserved this outcome.
Crasher Wake:
- wake did wrestling shows that were in the style of a drama (think, WWE) and would come up with the most outrageous storylines.
- was the kid that beat up bullies at his trainer’s school bc “two against one isn’t fair” and, “pick on someone your own size.”
- frequently challenges byron and fantina to a drinking contest after gym hours, and he almost always loses. but when he wins, he’ll throw his hands up, and then promptly pass out.
Fantina:
- when she was ten, she marched up to her parents and told her that she wanted to be called “fantina” from now on. her parents welcomed their daughter with open arms.
- is Kalosian, which according to the sinnoh league members would explain why she can hold her liquor so well. she usually comes out on top in those drinking contests between wake and byron.
- is the most widely known coordinator around the world. you could go to an island with no electricity and the children and elders knew the name “fantina dumont.” if you were fortunate enough to go to one of her shows, you would see paramedics on standby because when she sent out her Drifblim a few people would pass out in awe, not fright.
Byron:
- before he married his wife: byron shot his friend in the ass with a BB gun by accident, went to hoenn with his buddies and they got kicked out from every single bar by staging fights so they wouldn’t have to pay for drinks, and swam from johto to kanto after he and his friends flipped a police car and were being chased. he drops random stories like this at league meetings and everyone stares in bewilderment – including his own son because what the hell dad wdym you dropped acid with the champion of Unova once???
- occasionally stars as a guest in one of wake’s wrestling shows. they play lovers having a quarrel before wake tackles the shit out of him.
- during canalave’s yearly pride parade he is the one giving dad hugs because “even when i was a kid, men have always had men… y’know, i had a buddy once, back in the mines… and he was a little off to the side, but he was damn good with a pickaxe. had a beer with his husband once.”
Candice:
- snowpoint city in the sinnoh region is known as the “home of the yodelers.” on top of being the gym leader, candice is the best damn yodeler that snowpoint has ever seen.
- she also had a reputation as a little girl for throwing snowballs at visitors from another region before declaring sinnoh was the best.
- if you want gossip, candice will spill all the details. she knows everything about everyone. no one is more up to speed about who’s-sleeping-with-who, who-cheated-on-who, and how Stacy Cambridge from her trainer school definitely got a nose job and yes, it’s definitely noticeable. no one really asks for her gossip, but she blabs it at the league meetings anyway.
Volkner:
- smokes a pack of cigarettes a day. one time to be cheeky at a league meeting he lights one up, therefore cynthia threw him out – which was what he wanted so thank you cynthia.
- has been on so many fucking antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds throughout his life that he’s basically an expert on them. a lot of the younger gym leaders and elites (i.e gardenia, aaron, candice, roark, and maylene) are depressed and/or anxious and lets them know his own experiences with meds.
- when he was a kid, though he wasn’t a sunyshore hoodlum, he did learn how to use a pocket knife. not that he ever needed it since he had a pikachu to thunderbolt the motherfuckers if he wanted to.

Hey!! I was wondering if I could submit a request between Angel Dust x gn! reader. So reader has a secret crush on Angel (it’s not super obvious, but u can tell it’s there👀) and ever since Cherri decided to move in to the hotel and has gotten to know the residents a little more, she’s started to notice these signs😏 cue in Cherri being the best wingwoman ever for reader, but also embarrassing the shit out of them cause she’s a little shit🤣👑
While this is happening, Angel is just side-eyeing reader the entire time, giving them teasing, little flirty looks and reader is just like “fucking kill me now”😳 but once Cherri is done with her torment, reader ends up confessing (much to Angel’s amusement) and the ending is just sweet, cute and fluffy😘💞
Thank you so much love!!! I can’t wait to see what you write!🫶🏼
AWWWWW!!! This is so adorable! Thank you so much for requesting Anon, it makes my day better! 🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎

ᡣ𐭩 Angel Dust x Crush! Reader . . . 🧸
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🧸ྀི ~ Let’s get something straight here… you don’t adore Angel just because he’s involved with the pornography industry (because a BUNCH of people adore him because of that and his body). You adore him because of how he is deep down. Angel’s personality isn’t only the fact that he is a famous pornstar—there’s so much more to his character besides that and you see it as clear as day.
You love how he is genuinely able to cut the “Flirty” act of his and immediately turn serious when it’s needed. For example, one time you were really upset about something and it bothered you like no other. When Angel saw this he immediately dropped the usual act and comforted you. It’s like he knows how to switch out of that act he puts on to truly let those around him know that he does care about them.
Angel is able to make you feel so giddy inside everytime an interaction happens between the two of you. The way he sweet talks you is smooth like honey—The way he stares at you is so hypnotizing…
🧸ྀི ~ Of course, you didn’t want to blow your cover so soon. You tried to keep this little crush of yours on the low side and just went with the flow. You understood your feelings, accepted them, and now? Suffer in silence as you struggle to find out a way to tell Angel how you feel without feeling the overwhelming pressure of being rejected.
🧸ྀི ~ …don’t worry though! Your good ol’ friend Cherri is here to assist!
🧸ྀི ~ Once Cherri moved into the hotel and started to get familiar with the residents and what not, she immediately caught onto how you acted with her best friend Angel. Pfft, she didn’t understand how literally NO ONE else didn’t catch on! It’s SOOOOO obvious!
(Yes, this is what Cherri might do sometimes so just a heads up…)
🧸ྀི ~ You had your fair share with Cherri’s torment when she caught onto the fact that you had a crush on Angel.
*Reader ogling at Angel from across the room*
*Cherri slowly appears behind you, going unnoticed.* “…You like him don’t cha?”
*Reader yelps and falls on their face*
(Also with Angel witnessing this and immediately running to your side-)
🧸ྀི ~ GODDDD… Cherri is the DEATH of you. She will constantly find ways to embarrass you in front of Angel (like teasing about your crush in front of him or when your talking about your feelings for Angel quietly she just blurts out crap)
“Yeah… Angel is really pretty… I-I like him—“
“YOU LIKE ANGEL!? YOU THINK HE’S REALLY PRETTY!?-“
🧸ྀི ~ Everyday is like battlefield for you when it comes to Cherri but secretly you like the fact that she’s being kinda of a tease and being vocal about this because lord knows that you could NEVER do that… plus it’ll make Angel catch on…hopefully?

~ Oneshot ~ ! . . . ᡣ𐭩ྀིྀི₊ ⊹
Tumblr media
“WAIT SO YOU LIKE ANGE-“
“SHHHHHHHHH…”
Cherri let out a muffled giggle from behind your hand as you silenced her. You stared back at her with disapproval as a blush rose to your cheeks out of embarrassment. Geez, out of everyone in this hotel—why did Cherri have to be the one to find out about your crush on Angel? Yet she claims that she’s being such a “good” wingwoman… Yeah right!
“Cherri… stop that! I’ve told you so many times…” You scolded with a whisper as you slowly removed your hand from her mouth.
Cherri shrugged her shoulders with a sharp toothy smile. “Eh, it was worth a shot! Fuck, I was hoping Angie would hear~” She said teasingly, nudging you with her elbow as you sunk into the couch. Your hands covered your face at the mere thought of Angel hearing her shout that out. It made your heart skip some beats… “Do you ever plan on tellin’ him? It’s been like this for MONTHS, bitch!”
Cherri didn’t disapprove of this situation between you, your feelings, and Angel. Cherri knew that you weren’t like any of the other assholes Angel has been around and she could tell. Hell, she never told you this but Angel talks about you a shitload of times when they are together causing shit. Not to mention how it does seem like Angel has some pretty deep feelings for you. She just didn’t make the effort to tell you because she knew that you could confess by yourself! Character development~!!!
“I-I don’t know.” You sighed. You genuinely wanted to tell Angel how you felt but you were too scared. What if he rejects you? I mean, that’s fine—but what if he doesn’t want to be around you anymore? Not only you’d lose your forever crush but you’ll also lose one of your greatest friends…”I don’t think I ever will…”
“BULLSHIT!!!” Cherri exclaimed as she abruptly stood up from her spot on the couch. “Well today, you’re gonna finally tell him how you fuckin’ feel!” And with that being said with no protests from you, Cherri grabbed your wrist and dragged you out of the Lobby and down the hall. You assumed that she was taking you to Angel’s room and that made your heart fall straight to your stomach.
“Wait—Wait, Cherri! No—I-I don’t know how to confess! I don’t—I don’t what to say!!—“
“Welp, it’s either you tell him,” Cherri started as the pulling of your wrist stopped, signaling that you two were already at Angel’s humble abode. “or shall I take the honors~?”
“No. No way.”
“Damnit… well, he’s all yours!” Cherri said as she pushed you forward. You stared at the door to Angel’s room, feeling shaky all over as you slowly raised your fist to knock on the door. You chewed the inside of your lip with such nervousness before gently knocking on the bedroom door, quickly putting your hand back to its placement by your side. You looked at Cherri with a worried expression and she just nodded her head at you as she leaned against the wall, giving you a big smile. “You got this,” she mouthed.
“I-I don’t think I do… Is this really the right choice?—“
“Sweetface! What’re you doin’ here at my room… at this time?” Angel’s voice had a tint of teasing to it which made your heart jump. You felt your palms getting a tad bit sweaty.
“I—Erm…I just wanted to—“
“THEY LIKE YOU!—“ Cherri’s mouth was quickly covered by you in an instant.
“Cherri!—shush…!” You said in a hushed tone.
Angel just looked between the two of you with a confused expression with a hand on his hip. What was going on with the two of you? Was this another one of Cherri’s stupid pranks or some shit? And why were you acting so worrisome?
Pfft, it doesn’t take a genius to know what’s going on. Angel hid the smirk that was fighting to appear on his face as he watched the both of you bicker. Angel knew that you had a thing for him…which is okay because he too has a thing for you.
“So…um…like I was saying, Angel—I—“
“They dream about kissing you every night and they really…REALLLYYYY want you to date them, Angie.” Cherri interrupted with a shit eating grin.
You froze right then and there… jesus christ, she could NEVER keep her mouth shut for the life of her couldn’t she? What makes it even worse is how it’s not a lie! It’s a truth! The full bloody truth! You just wanted to curl into a ball in the corner and just die…AGAIN! “I—No! No no—it’s not!—“ you tried to speak but Angel cut through.
“Is that so, hmmm~?” Angel said with a smirk on his face. His eyes were sharp as he stared at you with a flirty glint in his eyes. His gaze made your legs feel like jelly as you stood there shyly, fidgeting with your shirt. “Cherri, could we have some privacy?” Angel asked, his eyes never looking away from your nervous form.
“Will do!” With that, Cherri was gone down the hall. You didn’t miss the way she winked at you before taking her leave, leaving both you and Angel in the halls of the hotel together. No one else to interrupt you.
It was quiet. Silence. You didn’t know what to say to Angel. what should you say anyway? The word has already gone out, you like Angel— now he knows the truth. The silence was eating you alive at this point…
“…So,” Angel started. You could feel his breath tickle your face as he leaned down close to your face. You had no choice but to make eye contact with the other male with such bashfulness. “talk to me, Y/n. What was it that you were saying before…interruptions~?” The way your name slid off his tongue was music to your ears.
Now’s your chance. Your one and only chance.
“…Angel,” You started. “I…I like you. I’ve always had feelings for you. I wanted to tell you but I was afraid that it would ruin everything we already had together and I didn’t want that. I understand if you don’t feel the same as I do—I just hope that we can still be friends…” You briefly confessed. You felt a whole entire ton of weight leave you shoulders when you laugh all that out. It felt good to finally tell Angel how you truly feel down— if anything, it felt as if it was suffocating you completely.
Angel was quiet for a moment, looking down at you silently before putting a hand underneath your chin, tilting your head to look at him. You felt your face get warm when you saw that gentle smile of his on his lips as he stared down at you with such love. “Y’know, you really do worry too much.” He teased in a hushed tone.
“Y-Yeah..” you replied awkwardly.
“Well, lucky for you cause trust me, baby—I’ve always wanted to see how you are in bed~” Angel said with a loving voice.
“E-Ehh!? Excuse you…? A-Angel, b-but that doesn’t answer my question—“
“What? The question if I like you back? Damn, I thought you’d knew just from me saying that!” Angel argued playfully.
“Uh, well, I-I think I know…but I just really want to make sure that you actually feel the same way.”
Angel let out a small chuckle, caressing your cheek. “Fine,” he said before leaning closer to you and pecking your cheek which made your gasp suddenly. “I love you, Y/n~” he admitted. Angel watched as your face turned a bright red and it just filled in his inner turmoil.
“I…I love you too…”

Ghost Love (Part 2)
Pairing: Regulus Black + Fem!reader
Word count: 2068
Warnings: swear words, rejection, crying
Part 3
Hey! If you think this didn't completely suck, feel free to check out my masterlist.
Requests are open
Tumblr media
You needed a date. The christmas party was in a week and you needed help. No one appealed to you, no one has ever appealed to you except for Regulus and you know how that is. So you needed to get rid of your feelings for him and you needed help.
You were sitting beside Rose in the library. Your leg was bouncing up and down and every few minutes you would open your mouth to say something but then you would change your mind. “Spit it out.” Rose said sharply. She put her quill down and intertwined her fingers, placing them in front of her.
“I need a date.”
“Do you like someone?” She asked, her eyebrows quirked. You blushed at the thought of Regulus but then you shook your head. Rose saw right through this and said “Who is it?” Her smile was huge.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” You shrugged your shoulders looking away from her.
“Bullshit.”
“He doesn’t like me, alright? And even if he did there is no way that I can be with him. So I need to get rid of my feelings and find a date.” You said, looking at your potions book for what felt like the first time. Did we even take this? You thought.
“Your love life is bullshit.” She said, eyes wide.
“Yeah well not all of us can have a Romeo and Juliet arc with Mr. Malfoy.” She blushed at your statement and started to give you options and ideas.
 ***
You looked down at a list of names for potential dates which you would have to go through in order to find a decent one.
Regulus watched as you fiddled with your fingers. He noticed you did that when you were nervous or just deep in thought about something serious. He watched as you looked at a piece of parchment. “What’s that?” He asked, trying to take a look at the parchment.
You looked between the parchment and him then you grabbed it, holding it to your chest. “It’s nothing.”
“Liar.” Your lips pouted and you looked so adorable that butterflies flew all around Regulus’ stomach. He had been thinking about you lately, more than he usually did. He could just simply ask for your hands and watch a confused facial expression take over your face.
However, he didn’t know how but he ended up talking to James about love. He told him that he should enjoy the fall as much as possible and the feeling of being in love because even if you suffer in the end, it’ll be worth it.
James didn’t assume why Regulus would want to know these types of things, because as far as everyone was concerned he died without falling in love and he never will. They were wrong to a certain extent; he did die without falling in love but when he did die, he fell in love with you.
He would enjoy the fall, or rather the feeling of falling in love. He wants to make you laugh so he tries to see that smile of yours and he hopes that he could be the reason for your smile.
“Well, it’s a list. Rose made it for me.” You explained, shyly. He could tell you were slightly embarrassed about the list from the way your cheeks started to flush but that only made him more curious about the contents of the list.
“What’s it for?” He moved two chairs to the right, two chairs nearer to you.
“Well, it’s a list of dates…” You said nervously, then added “For Slughorn’s Christmas Party.”
Regulus froze, he didn’t want you to go on any dates. Luckily for him, you never went on any dates. The feeling of jealousy filled his body as he looked -glared- at the piece of paper that was filled with names of people, who he was sure could never be good enough for you. He got an idea.
“Alright, say the names. I’ll help you." He placed both his hands together and turned to face you completely. He ignored the way you were surprised and he hummed for you to start listing the names.
“So, uh Zabini.”
“No.” Like hell he was going to let you go out with someone like him. He would ruin you completely and he wasn’t going to let that happen.
“Why?”
“He has a pug face like his mother.” He said harshly. His conscience has been long gone for a long time. He was lying as far as good looking guys went. He was a good looking guy, but he wasn’t going to tell you that he didn’t want him to ruin you.
“That’s mean.” You huffed.
“Next.”
“Umm...Nott.” Your eyes skimmed the paper until you found his name. You were already eliminating options for the list Rose made as if you would go out with the son of your mother’s ex boyfriend. You would have a death wish with your father.
“I think Nott.” He internally cringed as he said that. It was a desperate attempt to make you laugh. He felt his stomach bubble with the angry feeling that Fred makes puns all the time and you can’t stop laughing at those so why wouldn’t you laugh at his.
Your face turned cold as you registered the awful pun. You retorted, “That was weak.”
You saw a blush start to appear on Regulus’ neck. He cleared his throat and said “Next.”
“McLaggen.” Even though his father was a total douche, he could make a good date. He wasn’t completely bad looking, you had to admit that.
“Over my dead body.” Regulus said, his voice rising in volume. He couldn’t believe that he would even be considered to be put on the list. He shook his head feverishly until he registered your laughter, only then did he release what he said. You bit your lip trying to control your laughter and his lips’ corners tugged up slightly when he said “Next.”
“Longbottom?” If you had to pick anyone off of this list it would probably be him. It would be weird going out with your herbology teacher’s son but Frank was cute. Not to mention the kindest living guy you have ever met.
Regulus saw that he was the last name on the list. He could just tell you to not go and spend time with him, but that wouldn’t be fair to you. You needed to go spend time with people who were alive and you could actually be with and have fun. This time, he didn’t have any stupid excuse for why you shouldn’t go out with Longbottom. His voice cracked just as his heart did when he said “Are you sure you’d want to go with him?”
“He’s a great guy.” You shrugged.
“Okay. I see no reason why.” He watched you study. Then he watched as Frank -as if he had read your mind- came to find you and ask you to the Christmas party, and he watched as you agreed with a wide smile on your face.
 ***
You couldn’t focus, you couldn’t focus at all. You were fixing your formal outfit for the party, and you were in front of the mirror. You were in love with Regulus, not Frank.
Frank is a great guy but he wasn’t Regulus. He was the only guy that you wanted and that gave you an overwhelming sense of guilt. The only way you thought that you could get rid of this feeling in your chest is by confessing. You knew Regulus didn’t like you back, in your head, how could he? If you told him you loved him and he rejected you. Your heart wouldn’t let you have hope because you would have an answer.
Frank was waiting for you under the stairs as he said he would. When you walked down the stairs Frank was standing there in a tux, making him look more handsome than usual. His face brightened when he saw you walking down the stairs, and your face flushed at the attention. When you reached him, he kissed your hand.
The gesture was kind and thoughtful, but it didn't make your heart skip. You pursed your lips and admitted, “I didn’t think you’d ask me to the party.”
“Why?” His face darkened and you knew he was getting slightly insecure. “Did not want to come with me-”
You shook your head quickly and you grabbed his hands. “No no no. I was going to ask you before you asked me actually. I just didn’t think I was your type.”
Regulus was watching this entire interaction from afar. Other people couldn’t see him but you could and you were the person who mattered to him. He narrowed his eyes at Frank trying to find a flaw in him to validate his hate for him.
He saw you walking towards him and he spun on his heels, rushing away from you. You walked quicker towards him, “Regulus!” You shouted towards him, you were far from the groups of people so no one could hear you shout a name in the air.
You both reached a secluded corridor when he finally stopped and he looked at you. “There’s something I need to tell you.”
He nodded for you to continue. He watched you hesitate for a while before you blurted out “I love you.”
He resisted the urge to open his mouth in shock. His heart was accelerating and he opened his mouth to say something. If he could touch you, he would’ve just kissed you.
“But, I know you never even thought of me that way. So this is just… well it’s- I mean that Rose told me that if I wanted to get rid of my feelings I should just say it and I know you don’t like me back. So I thought it was a good opportunity to move on...Sorry, I didn’t let you say anything.” You rambled, and you fidgeted slightly.
Your heart was beating out of your chest, and you shifted awkwardly, waiting for his reply, getting more anxious by the second. You really hope that you hadn't just ruined you friendship.
Regulus gulped and then thought. You liked- loved him. Merlin, you loved him! He couldn’t be with you and he had to let you go so you can let go. He would hate to be the reason why you didn’t live your life because of the false hope he was giving you. It wasn’t completely false considering that he loved you so so much, but considering that one of you is alive and the other isn’t; he couldn’t see a way you could both be together.
He looked into your eyes and he could still see a shred of hope, who knew he would have to break your heart to save it. He couldn’t look you in the eye, so he looked to the floor.
“You’re right. I don’t like you. You should probably get back to Frank, you’re his date after all.” He replied, coldly. He wanted to smack himself, there were so many ways he could've phrased that better. Damn his parents for never teaching him how to communicate.
He didn’t want to do this tonight, he knew this would happen eventually but why tonight. You were supposed to be having fun but you’re here spilling your heart out to him and for you, he can’t even tell you how much he adores you and worships the ground you walk on.
The thing that hurt him the most was the way you left, but not before saying a broken, "Oh."
Your eyes burned. You expected this, why the hell did it hurt as if you just found out? It was delusional to think that he would ever like you. He probably thinks that you're just a friend, or worse, just a kid. You knew it would've never worked, but the few stray tears kept dripping from your eyes as you made your way back to the party.
You wiped the tears that had escaped your eyes and you entered the party. Frank greeted you with a wide smile that you tried to return but it didn’t reach your eyes. He says, “I was starting to think you ditched me.”
“I wouldn’t Frank you’re too much of a good person for me to do that.” You said. You tried to push the negative thoughts aside and pay attention to the great guy that you’re with right now, whose face was flushing at your comment.
“What’s wrong?” Frank asked in concern as he assessed your face longer. Frank was always so perceptive, even Professor Longbottom who could spot a student having a bad day from a mile away. The trait must run in the family.
You were surprised that he could read you so well even though you hadn’t even spent that much time together in the first place. Your eyes began to sting and Frank ushered you away from prying eyes.
He sat you down on one of the window seats and he sat in front of you on his knees. He grabbed your hands and he tried to comfort you. He didn’t know what was making you sad but he didn’t want it to make you sad anymore.
an: I honestly really loved the concept of this story, but I wrote this such a long time ago, and I feel like my pacing then was so off, I tried to salvage this, and I hope you like it. I think it's good, but I definitely think it could be better. It's the perfectionist in me.

EP 3. Blackmail? I didn't do that to him!
WORD COUNT. 3476
Link to overview
_ _ _
Ask any girl regarding their confessions on their current prefect, and it is guaranteed that Rayne Ames will shut it down.
ANONYMOUS #1: I thought he had a soft side but there’s absolutely nothing in there! He literally ignored my invitations to hang out.
ANONYMOUS #2: He embodies the qualities of an Adler to a T. Maybe that’s the problem, he can’t see a girl or woman the same way he sees magic.
ANONYMOUS #9: HE BROKE MY HEART!! I CAN NEVER LOVE AGAIN!!!
So why would it be any different with Darren Randel?
"I couldn't give a shit about you," he truthfully told her the morning after her slip up. "I'm just following the old geezer's words if that’s where the feelings came from."
‘How is he worse at being a jerk than me?’ His comment ruffled her as she let go of the shy buck, Bunnelton the XII, from suffering through her embarrassment.
“Look, I couldn’t give a shit about the old man’s orders!” She managed to string with no stutter but her face was losing it because of how his eyes simply assessed her like she was a poo pellet. “I wasn’t even trying to flirt with you yet!”
‘What is up with her?’ Every other girl would have just accepted and backed away. “What do you mean ‘yet’?” He scoffed incredulously. “What? You think enough effort will do anything?”
"I can cook!" she protested terribly. So did others, she wasn't special in this regard. “As I explained yesterday, it’ll be a win-win-win situation for all 3 parties right here!”
“I barely even know you.”
“Then we can start out as friends!” She cut him off from replying.
"Let me try confessing 3 times, if you reject all 3 times I'll stop trying to bother you like this," she tried to plead. She needed time which wasn't likely if the Summer was coming up. She'd be busy with internships by then. There must be something he... a bulb lit up in her head as she gambled her chances on it.
"Agree or I'll tell the whole world you're secretly keeping 10 ra"—instantly he slapped his hand over her mouth—"bbits in the school's forest and I'll personally make coney dogs out of them," she mirrored his eyes which scrutinised her muffled words.
"Coney dog?"
"It's basically a hot dog," she dead-panned. "With extra stuff on top."
'She's... going to make them into sausages?' Scepticism slowly traced his face as each rabbit transformed into a large tube of reddish meat in his mind. 'Not Bunbun, Bunnifer, Bunaldo, Bunnelby, Bunnelton the XII, Buns, Bunster, Bunnykins and Bunno!’ His face paled to stone at the thought. He had to secretly ask permission from the principal to make it work since there were complaints in the dormitories smelling like shit a few months back.
The food offer was tempting since she could handle things while he was gone and Max could continue doing his own things too. It's been a while since he's had a fulfilling meal as well, glancing at the content figures of the bunnies hopping around.
"Fine. Only 3 times."
"Cool," she chirped, her shoulders slouched before she dropped herself back on the floor. “Another chance is nice…”
“But don’t butt into my business,” he added. “We aren’t friends yet.”
"What do you want for dinner?"
"Something with vegetables."
The day continued as normal with the troublesome girl being busy with catch up classes to get asked out for duels and taking care of the rabbits again, so he knocked on the Adler Dorm’s Kitchen and saw her already prepping the ingredients. Chopping up the vegetables with ease. “Do you like tomatoes?”
“As long as they’re vegetables.”
“Alright,” continuing to cut through the ingredients as the water was simmering to a boil.
Although it might’ve not been as clear, there was a child-like wonder in his eyes as she gave him a sip of the soup to taste.
“How is it?”
“Like nothing.”
“Pass the salt and sugar, please.” He did as told as it was clearly labelled and she dumped what he could only assume to be an estimate as she picked up some more herbs, spices and… lemongrass(?) to chuck into the soup.
“Here,” she held up a small sauce tray to him. He took it.
“It’s more sour now… and spicier.”
“You want more or…”
“It’s fine.”
“Okay.”
“Rice?” He nodded his head as she turned off the heat on the stovetop and removed her apron to wear her robe before taking out some bowls with pre-added rice and scooped up the still hot soup into it.
“I like seafood so I put some shrimp, cut up squid and such in there alongside the vegetables. Hope it’s nice. Also this isn’t how it’s usually eaten but it’s easier to eat this way,” she explained.
He took a sip and as if he was filled with deja-vu, he felt… like he could see her again.
An unfamiliar yet strong aroma wafted through the air, causing him to reach the kitchen with a slight spark in his eyes. “What did you make today?” He asked, excited for her next attempt at a recipe as he climbed onto the chair with his small limbs.
“It’s a bit spicier than mummy intended,” she chuckled as she brought the pot to the table with her mittens. Their father slowly brought his slightly shrieky baby brother over to his raised chair as she collected everyone’s bowls and cutlery. “But that’s why I made sure to put water here!”
“Will Finn be able to try it?”
She smiled at his words. “It’s a lot of salt for him to eat fully, so we’ll only let him have a taste.”
“Alright, thank you for the meal,” before he scooped up a spoonful of the soup his mother had given him. “AH!” He burned his mouth as he swallowed it.
“Rayne!”
“Remember to let it cool down a bit!” The auburn haired girl reminded him, taking him back to the current moment.
To which he chuckled, hiding back a smile. How does a soup made by a random girl he wasn’t friends with made him be reminded of a peaceful time he hasn’t had in a while?
“It’s a lot less spicy than I remembered,” he reminisced, following her advice as he scooped up some rice with the soup and blew onto it before taking another gulp of it. ‘Yeah. She would’ve refined it if…’
She lit up at his words, “Oh! You’ve tried Tomyum before?” Completely superseding her shocked reaction. ‘Rayne can chuckle?’
“When my mother was still around…”
“I see,” and thus they ate in silence. To Rayne, the meal was rather hearty, finishing the entire pot through sheer nostalgia much to the girl’s confusion.
“H-how old are you again?” She asked, not wanting to immediately call him a child.
“16.”
“I meant your birthday.”
“March 3rd.”
She paled. ‘A guy taller than me, younger than me?’ Her eyes widened like saucers. ‘And an orphan?’
“What about you?”
“February 18th.”
“... you’re older than me.”
“O-kay…”
She went to clean the dishes instead and he quietly helped out too. ‘He isn’t leaving me any time soon is he?’ Resigning herself to her fate. ‘I’m gonna die before I can properly ask this guy out aren’t I?’ As she handed over the last bowl for him to wipe clean followed by turning off the tap.
“I have a question,” he began slowly. “‘Impart Zero’, is that a dispelling type of spell?”
‘This is outta nowhere!’ She nodded as she quickly stashed away her items in her robe. “Why do you ask?”
“Well, usually someone chants a single word when casting their basic spell.” Atleast, that’s how he understood the concept of personal magic.
“There is no basic spell for Impart,” she sighed much to his puzzling look. “Because it’s meaningless on its own.”
While magic like Partisan functioned by summoning large blades at varying magnitudes of force and size through, something like her magic had no tangible form to counter the blades summoned. She pointed out.
“That’s true, you never summon something when you chant it.”
“Impart Zero simply reduces the magnitude of what I find unfair to nothing. In magic contexts: Yes it’s like ‘Dispel’ just better and more effective,” she searched for her keys and rayne felt like he had hit a road block. “It’s the easiest spell for me to do because it doesn’t require me to think about anything except the target. Usually focusing on their magic is the easiest.”
‘Perhaps that’s how she caused trouble with a singular spell.’
It’s subjective but at the end of the day, a mindset of inferiority and entitlement stems from it.
“Have you ever explained it that way to anyone?”
“Nah. Why would I?” She grinned manically. “The thought of someone being able to dispel any magic thrown their way sounds more menacing right?” Her eyes then seemed to become more aloof in a heartbeat as she kicked a stray pebble up the stairs. “I’d rather be a no-name nobody than be saddled with so many burdens because I’m useful to others.”
With a less bright smile, she waved him off. “See you tomorrow then, I’ll make something light.”
“See you.”
_ _ _
"Morning Rayne," Max beamed as he scooted over for his roommate to sit down. He looked around to find no silhouette of the transfer student or her chipper steps. "She's not here?" Odd.
"She's not," he curtly replied, placing down a packed lunch wrapped in a bright orange cloth, which piqued his friend's interest.
"Did you make breakfast today?"
"No, she did."
"She must've left rather early then." He just hummed at his words, watching as the rabbit loving boy opened the lid. A beautifully presented slices of bread alongside cleanly cut avocado and an omelette. Alongside a note attached at the side.
"I've got something urgent to take care of, I'll be back soon," he read aloud. It had an exclamation mark too. How chipper. The teachers seemed aware of her absence when they took attendance. Classes seemed a little more like last year, quiet and possibly boring without the girl’s interjections.
Thankfully, he was called over by the vice principal for a quick meeting with the other prefects. There was a wolf roaming last night on the 2nd year floors and it hadn’t been found yet.
“So a lycanthrope?” Abel Walker, the Lang Prefect suggested. A logical conclusion. “There haven’t been many sightings on campus since a few years back. So it’s probably a curse.”
“What do you even want us to do?”
“If the wolf is in deed a lycanthrope,” the vice principal gestured; “Find the student, and make the necessary arrangements.”
‘How crass,’ Rayne told himself as the meeting ended.
_ _ _
It’s been 2 weeks since she transferred. 2 weeks didn’t mean her previous schedule, inner workings and attentiveness had disappeared and adapted. She never slept during lessons, was always up and done with a run by the time she met the rabbit caretaker, and paired with the additional classes she had for advanced magic spells class and their other assignments, it was unnerving that she was so sprightly. Radiating that perfect student energy (even though she was anything but a perfect student) without cracking under the pressure of being behind in at least 5 subjects.
Their arrival into the classroom was met with some odd glances and murmurs but nothing out of the ordinary since her arrival.
“For today’s lesson we will be joining Professor Lucci’s class and conducting an exercise together,” their teacher summarised today’s exercise as a door appeared to her left. She gestured to pass through it without any reluctance and setbacks her pupils. They were surrounded by gigantic hedges with roughly 40 students and 2 members of staff in the vicinity but the robe they were wearing was of a different colour.
“Are they in the smarter class?”
“No. They’re just from the Lang dorm.”
“Today’s exercise is simple, the goal is to ‘Get out of the maze’,” the blonde man explained, showing an image of the exit. “Use what you have learned to escape and you may earn yourselves a silver coin or two.”
The others seemed to shift at this statement followed by a sense of belief. ‘That’s it?’ Something was amiss as they added on a few more details.
“Since you are in the advance class though, I’m sure 30 minutes is plenty of time to get out of the maze but you will have 40 minutes in total still, you may begin… now.”
Before she could even face her only friend, he surfed off and up with a single spell leaving her with the rest like sitting ducks.
‘THIS IS WHAT I GET AFTER MAKING HIM SOUP?’
The audacity that Rayne Ames had to abandon her in the centre of this goddamn corn maze! She looked around as students began to form small groups or walk straight ahead with their wands in hand. She didn’t even know any of these people! All of her assignments had either been alone or with that fucking half-piss hair, so she never fucking knew anyone as she watched her dorm’s students throw ideas and concerns at each other.
‘Focus!’ She tried to snap herself out of spiralling into a deepening loss of place. She had to complete the exercise. Technically, raising her palm at a hedge, she could bulldoze herself out with that lethal spell right away and dash straight out but the only issue would be the the blonde teacher’s statement which riled up everyone.
‘You may earn yourselves a silver coin or two…’
To earn implies a challenge to be completed, she stretched herself first. Then the silver coins are rewards that people want? That would make the most sense from what she had gathered.
“Venetris!” A student chanted to evaluate the terrain across the hedge directly. Nothing, it was pure grass and branches. “Let’s move, guys!”
It is a simple spell after all, allowing everyone to see through a certain portion of wherever it is aimed towards. The advanced version which has an effect on a much greater distance is Vitriniae at the expense of only being seen by the caster since it’s a self using spell.
“Repeat after me, Ms Randel,” her advanced spells teacher began once more, aiming her own wand towards the wooden box just days ago. “Vee-tree-nee-ae,” she uttered the syllables slowly before repeating it as a spell. “Vitriniae.”
“Vinitriae.” Unable to see through the box herself, she realised her mess up. “It was supposed to be Vitriniae!” The common problem with this spell amongst students in particular is the pronunciation since it’s similar to Venetris which requires less magic to use.
“From the top Miss Randel.”
She took a deep breath as she channelled her magic power towards her eyes. “Vin… Vitriniae,” she calmly uttered, now able to see through and evaluate the terrain for possible challenges. And unlike everyone else, who seemed adamant in avoiding these areas as possible traps and loss of time, the brunette crashed straight into one head on. Or rather three. One-time. Consecutive. Pressure Sensitive. Booby Trap. Spells.
‘Why does he get to fly?’ She huffed to herself, as she noticed a group of Adler students clumped together at a corner. With another spell, it revealed a magical creature, a Riddle Sphinx infront of a pale-haired student who seemed to be shaking in their shoes with each riddle answered correctly.
“30 white horses on a red hill,” it began its last riddle. “First, they champ, then they stamp, then they stand still.” A sense of loss pervaded the air. He didn’t know what was supposed to be answered, maybe if they had Orca students it would’ve been easier. Was it asking him what that correlated to?
“5 more seconds.”
“A ranch?” The student stammered out.
“Wrong.”
Ready to take out his wand, he would try to pull off a smoke spell to let the others pass on without him. A Riddle Sphinx only focused on a singular riddle compared to its other counterparts. Aorio Morris was going to lose this test, he gulped as the golden sand being roared.
“Teeth.” another girl with reddish brown hair jumped in and slumbered the being with a simple yet forceful kick. “Move along now, people,” she ordered as the others continued their plan before she hopped off in another direction.
“Perceptive,” the blonde professor murmured to himself through the magic mirror. “Has she earned any coins yet?” As a new transfer student, her magical progress since her initial arrival has been nothing short of exponential.
“No.”
“That’s surprising.” She’ll get them soon.
_ _ _
After defeating over 10 opponents, and only receiving about 4 silver coins from, she continued to search for more, finding the coins to be shaped oddly. Like a flattened cone. A bit of a coin… even though it was considered a coin? She’d have to ask later about it’s value.
Hidden with an invisibility spell in the distance was none other than the boy she had knocked out weeks ago. Gritting his teeth, he patiently watched for an opening. ‘I’ve done my research and practice into this spell.’ She was a one liner after all. There’s no way she could be stronger than him, watching as she walked herself into another obstacle. ‘I’ll utilise Burst in tandem with Nalcos to throw her off guard,’ readying his wand as a different creature towered over her. An iron golem. A man-made being created to help in magic training exercises. There were roughly 3 types of golems: heavy defence, speed, and magical power. The one with bulky arms screeched harshly towards them, cranking it’s arms as he glued her feet to the floor. ‘Focus on it and then you can admit your inferiority!’ However, these too would be quelled with her magic by thin air.
Wirth found her frustrating after destroying his worth and reputation. “You think I want to use my magic on you?” Evading his mud, she led his attacks towards the obstacle, each reaching a new level of power than the last and voila! Collapsing to bits, 2 silver coins spawned. Taking a huge side step, to pick them up, she walked over towards the vengeful student. “Here, you can have one. You guys seem particularly fond of these things. I’ll take the other one.”
‘What in the…’
“Why did you even transfer here?!” A sense of inferiority bubbled in him. “I don’t get it,” he clenched his fists. Why would she give it away so easily? Did she not want to become a Divine Visionary like Margaret Macaron from Orca?
“Partial credit is partial credit,” she hummed, ignoring his question. “If you want to do a duel or something again just find me around!” sprinting off into the distance, leaving him baffled by her existence once again.
_ _ _
Barely 5 minutes were left on the clock and she was still inside. The only one left inside. Was she trying to fail the exercise? For Rayne Ames who had already completed it with ease, earning himself an additional 2 coins, he couldn’t fathom her sluggish pace. Even the weakest students had passed the finish line. He walked towards the teachers who had a rafflesia mirror to see the progress within the maze.
She was against a different obstacle this time, one completely immune to magic spells. She should’ve spent her time to run for the exit instead of tying up the man-made ram. What a waste. ‘Neutralising a deadervant doesn’t produce coins, that’s a different exercise.’ Perhaps, Darren Randel’s weakness was her ambitious conviction in pursuit of challenge.
But her next actions felt… comical. After looking at each side, she held her palm wide open, pooling a large magnitude of magical energy. She chanted a lethal spell that would be taught the following year, “Eradica Maxima.” Bulldozing the garden the blonde professor had shaped. Rather overkill, as the gingerhead’s heels dug themselves to a halt from bumping into everyone at the finish line. instantly the buzzer went off. Her robe abandoned in the decimated grounds.
A short lived round of applause erupted for her performance. She bowed before pivoting into a sprint back to the maze remains and returned at a slightly slower pace than before.
‘What did I just witness?’
The teachers then debriefed everyone regarding the class, showcasing a magical chalkboard of their times. Rayne Ames ranked first; Darren Randel ranked last.
“You know, you can collect a demerit if you continue to reach the time limit of the exercise,” another voice told her. It was Max Land.
“6 demerits means expulsion and we have our midterms coming up!”
_ _ _ _ _
I'm realising Darren's Explanation of her magic sounds like it's Billie's Unfair Negating Ability from Undead Unluck. Of course, keep in mind that it's Darren and Undead Unluck has some crazy power system that focuses on beliefs (manifestation shits). Sorry for the spoilsies randos who are getting into UU.

Sokeefe One- Shot: The Kiss
Set during Chapter 42, this one- shot chronicles what would have happened had Sophie and Keefe not been interrupted after their confession.
~~~
“I won’t,” she promised, tilting her chin up to steal another quick kiss.
It was only brief moment, a second-long brush of her lips against his. And yet suddenly, the world seemed new again.
It all felt… right.
Sophie pulled back, and rested her forehead against Keefe’s. His arms wrapped around her, Sophie couldn’t help but let out a laugh of contentment.
“I can’t believe it,” she admitted, her voice little more than a whisper, “I was so terrified when I came to find you, I thought for sure I was about to get rejected.”
Keefe’s lips curled into an amused smirk, “You really thought that? Foster, I told you how I felt in my letter, thinking I’d never see you again. When you showed up in London, I was so happy, but also… terrified. Terrified because you knew, and I couldn’t tell what you were feeling. Even now it’s still unsettling. I thought you still… didn’t think of me that way.”
Sophie winced at the unspoken words.
I thought you still liked Fitz.
“Fitz and I were a disaster, because it wasn’t meant to be,” Sophie spoke out loud, as she came to the realization, “It was just a silly crush. But when I realized how much I cared about you, after you left, it was… different. Overwhelming, to be honest. Ugh, and Ro was rooming with me when it happened. She had a field day with that.”
Keefe let out a laugh, “Let me guess, The Great Foster Oblivion?”
“The Great Foster Oblivion,” Sophie agreed, “but luckily, it’s over. And I’m… sort of loving the results now that it is.”
Sophie stepped back and laced her fingers with Keefe’s once more. To her surprise, Keefe blushed slightly. She had to remind herself that Keefe wasn’t as entirely as confident as he let on. He’d thought she didn’t like him, had dealt with her crush on Fitz.
Had all of the teasing, all of the flirting, been a… coping mechanism to deal with the hurt? Her mind flashed back to her Cognate session with Fitz, etched into the green notebook for “the hard stuff.”
“So am I,” Keefe declared, “To be honest, I’m kind of in shock. And kind of glad you talked to me while my Empathy is messed up.”
Sophie’s brow scrunched in confusion. She wasn’t sure what he meant by that— had he been able to tell, this would have been a lot easier.
“It forced you to come to me,” Keefe explained with a smile, “Forced this to be genuine. Not just me reading your emotions.”
Oh.
“That… actually makes a lot of sense,” Sophie agreed, “But I promise, we are going to get your Empathy fixed. We are going to get through this. And then you’ll be able to feel how I feel so intensely it’ll probably make you sick,” Sophie grimaced with embarrassment.
“Trust me,” Keefe gave her hand a squeeze, “It won’t be half as much as what I feel for you.”
Sophie let out a breath.
“Really? All this time?”
Keefe nodded, “All this time. I just had to wait for you, and… hope.”
Sophie felt tempted to say sorry, but stopped herself. In the end, she had nothing to be sorry for. She’d taken the time to sort out her feelings, and had come to the best conclusion.
And now here she was, fingers intwined with this beautiful, brilliant boy. This boy who made her laugh and cry and smile and feel.
“Let’s just enjoy the moment,” she concluded, as she stepped forward and rested her head on his shoulder.
Keefe leaned into the embrace, and immediately their breaths seemed to sync together.
“No regrets?” Sophie asked this time.
“Absolutely none,” Keefe whispered.
Sophie could have stood there forever, hand in his, head on his shoulder. However, through the glen, Sophie could see the sun beginning to set. Grady and Edaline would start wondering where she was.
Keefe must have come to the same conclusion, as he kept her hand in his and started to lead her out of the glen.
“Need to lean on me again for balance?” He teased.
Sophie only took it as an excuse to lean into him more, and tuck herself under his cape.
Keefe laughed— the sound like ringing silver bells in her ears.
For a few minutes, they just walked in silence along the pastures that way. The night was bitter and cold, but Sophie thought she had never felt warmer, never felt happier.
Slowly, Havenfield came into view, and Sophie untucked herself from Keefe’s cape.
“Just in case Grady or Edaline see us,” Sophie explained, her face flushing at the thought, “I don’t think I’m quite ready to talk to them about… this.”
Keefe bit his lip, “Yeah… to be honest I’m a little scared for my session with Grady when he finds out. I mean, talk about awkward.”
Sophie chuckled, “We’ll cross that bridge when we’re ready. With our friends too.”
The same worries Sophie had in her room after Ro left, before Keefe came home, came rushing back into her head.
How Fitz would react. How Biana would handle this, after years of having a crush on Keefe. It seemed like she had gotten over it long ago, but it still made things.. tricky. And Dex…
Well, given Dex’s feelings towards the Vackers, and his newfound friendship with Keefe, Dex would probably be thrilled, if Sophie was being honest.
“When we’re ready,” Sophie declared. Keefe nodded in agreement.
Without another word, Keefe let go of her hand, and blew her a kiss goodbye, before turning away into the orange and pink tinted horizon.
Sophie let out a breath, and held her hand to her heart, the warm tingle of Keefe’s presence still there.
In that moment, the entire reality of what had just happened, the entire rush, fell over her. And all of the sudden, Sophie felt as though she could cry with happiness.
She had done it. She had been brave. And if this was the outcome, she was going to be brave a whole lot more often.
Peace of Mind - Ch.1
Pairing: Bestfriend!Eddie x Reader x Steve
Warnings: Slow burn, follows script of the show with some offshoots, 18+ Minors DNI, eventual smut, eventual angst
Summary: Reader is Eddie’s best friend and only meets Steve when your other best friend, Robin, starts working at Scoops Ahoy. What happens when you’re torn between two boys? :)
Tumblr media
It was the summer, finally. After a long year of high school it was finally time to relax. That also meant a summer job. You worked at Family Video if you could even call it a job. The new Starcourt mall was pulling everyone over to it. You had worked at Family Video for over a year now and barely saw anyone. It was fairly easy and the owner of the place, a big movie buff, appreciated any youngins who had a taste for movies themselves to go and work for him. Before the school year ended, Robin had complained about needing a job. Instead of coming to work with you, she applied for jobs at the Starcourt mall since it was a shoe in as she said since it just opened and needed bodies.
Only it wasn’t what it cracked up to be when she asked you to come over one day to see her uniform. You sat on her bed, flipping through a magazine as she changed. “It can’t be that bad!” You called out to her.
“Oh, just wait!” Robin yelled back from her bathroom. At the sound of a door opening, you looked up. Your eyes widened and Robin pointed a finger at you. “Don’t.” She warned sternly.
You pressed your lips together. “Robin.” You whispered.
Robin sighed, placing her hands on her hips. “Fine.” She waved her hand, “Laugh.”
Immediately, a fit of giggles erupted out of you. “A-A sailor uniform?!” You squeaked and she whined.
“It’s called Scoops Ahoy! I thought, maybe like, it would be something a little less embarrassing than this!” She whined, motioning to her outfit as a whole.
“Can I-”
“No!”
“Please! Eddie would get a kick out of this!”
“Absolutely not. You and your deranged best friend are not going to have a fit of giggles and inside jokes at my expense. Certainly not with photographic evidence.” She crossed her arms over her chest.
“Okay…but can I tell him?” You asked with a grin.
She sighs. “I guess I can’t stop you from that. If he ever came in he’d see it anyway.” She mumbled, “And I have a coworker. You’ll never guess who.”
“Tom Cruise?”
“What? No!” She took the cap off of her head and threw it in your direction. “Steve. Harrington.”
You raised a brow at her. “Excuse me? Steve Harrington? As in Steve ‘the hair’ Harrington. As in Steve ‘former king of Hawkins High’ Harrington? Mr. Bagel-crumbs-all-over-Ms.Click’s-class Harrington?” You asked her as she nodded slowly to your words. You almost couldn’t believe it. Steve came from money after all, that much you knew from sneaking into a party of his once. Why would he need a job?
“The one and the same.” She confirmed.
“What are the odds…” You murmured and she sighed, sitting down heavily on her bed beside you.
“Now, I get to be tormented by the guy who had all the attention of the biggest crush of my high school days.” Robin whined.
You smiled softly at your friend. You had learned about Robin’s sexuality by accident almost a year and a half ago. You both had been looking through a magazine when she mentioned how cute Molly Ringwald was. From then, you were the only one who knew. She told you all about Tammy Thompson and how she wished the girl would notice her instead of Steve. “Well, maybe it’ll be different. He changed after all after Nancy Wheeler.” You pointed it out to her.
“You’re right.” Robin sighed softly.
----------------------------------------------
It took Robin working there all of a week for her to realize Steve was not like he used to be. She told you all about how he tried to hit on girls all the time and completely bombed. At this point, she was keeping track of how many times Steve asked a girl out and was rejected. The second you told Eddie about Robin’s uniform and that she worked with Steve, he perked up from his seat. He hopped off of his bed and grabbed his reeboks.
“What are you doing?” You asked him as he shoved his shoes on. He grinned as he adjusted his Iron Maiden t-shirt he cut into a deep muscle tee, exposing his sides.
“Wanna go get ice cream?” He grinned at you.
You smirked and pushed off of his floor. “I’m down!” You grabbed your shoes and shoved them on.
“I’ll buy, sweetheart.” He laughed as he grabbed his keys.
It was a fairly short ride to the Starcourt mall. The large building covered in neon coloring and neon lights was packed with people since it was summertime. Eddie parked the van and you both started towards the building. As soon as you got into the crowded space, Eddie’s hand found yours to not lose track of you. He laced your fingers together, gently leading you through the throngs of people towards Scoops Ahoy. Walking inside, the store itself was frigid. Which made sense since it was an ice cream shop. A gaggle of small kids with their moms were at the counter, choosing their ice cream and respective toppings. Steve was at the helm scooping ice cream into small cups or onto cones.
“No fucking way.” Eddie breathed seeing Steve in his uniform.
You pressed your lips together. If you thought Robin’s uniform had been bad… Steve, oh poor baby boy Steve. His was definitely worse. Eddie was shaking as he snickered beside you at the sight of Steve in his uniform. Never before had you seen Steve in such an embarrassing state. As soon as the group of kids and their mothers left, Eddie practically dragged you to the counter.
“Steve Harrington,” He drawled, placing his free hand on the counter.
Steve crossed his arms over his chest. “Munson.” He murmured and glanced at you, “Hey, Y/N.”
“Hey, Steve.” You answered back.
Steve glanced down at your joined hands. “Robin!” He called, “Y/N and her little boyfriend are here!” He moved over to a small window behind the counter, sliding it aside.
“Boyfriend?” Eddie mumbled and looked down at your hands. “Oh, oops.” He laughed and dramatically swung your arms. “Not my girlfriend, Harrington. But, don’t even think about it. My best friend is too good for you.” Eddie playfully threatened and you rolled your eyes. Eddie was always protective of you when it came to boys. You’d had very few boyfriends in your time either because they had a problem with Eddie and you refused to leave Eddie for a boyfriend or the relationship had just been plain bad.
“I agree!” Robin cheerfully answered as she walked out of a swinging door. “How can I help you two?” She asked, nudging Steve out of the way.
“I’ll take chocolate with hot fudge in a cup, Robin. Sweetheart?” Eddie looked down at you.
You hummed, “Strawberry with fudge.” You answered.
“You got it.” Robin laughed and started to scoop your ice cream into the little paper cups. After Eddie paid, she sat with you both for her break. Eddie was barely able to resist teasing Steve over his uniform, enduring a few nudges from you to keep some of it at bay.
That was how it was for almost a month. You and Eddie would occasionally go to Scoops Ahoy to keep Robin company and bother Steve while Robin over time started to dislike Steve more and more. She claimed the only satisfaction she got was teasing him every time a girl didn’t take him up on his flirting. Now she just felt a sort of happiness that he was as miserable as some of the people he made fun of in the past. For once, Eddie was busy so you decided to go and bother Robin at work since you had an off day. As soon as you walked into Scoops Ahoy you spotted Robin behind the ice cream counter, handing a tiny spoon of ice cream to Erica Sinclair.
“Thank god you’re here.” Robin breathed when you walked over. She jabbed a thumb towards the swinging door. “Can you please go in there and get Dingus for me?” She grumbled.
“Okay, okay.” You laughed and shook your head. You had never been invited into the back before. You pushed the door open and paused. There stood Steve Harrington, shoving a banana into his mouth and a younger kid playing something on his recorder. “Uh…” The kid grabbed at the recorder and shut it off, offering a toothy smile when he heard your confused tone at finding them both.
“Y/N!...Hey!” Steve pointed at the silver recorder, “Do you know Russian?”
“Steve!” The kid screeched, staring at the older boy.
“What?!”
“Uhm, Russian?” You raised a brow, “Is that what that was?” You pointed to the recorder and walked further inside, letting the red door swing shut behind you.
The kid sighed and rewound the tape before pressing play again. Words flowed out of the device along with a song. You furrowed your brow and frowned. Once it was done, the kid shut the recorder off again. “So what do you think?” The kid asked you both, looking between you and Steve.
Steve tore off a piece of banana and shoved it into his mouth. “Sounded familiar.” He answered and you slowly turned to look at him.
“What?” The kid asked before you could.
“The music.” Steve clarified, “The music right there at the end.”
“Why are you listening to the music, Steve? Listen to the Russian. We’re translating Russian!”
“I’m trying to listen to the Russian but there’s musi-”
“Alright!” Robin exclaimed as she pushed into the room. “Babysitting time is over, you need to get in there. And I sent you to get him!” Robin yelled at you before noticing the white board. She had unceremoniously taken that board to keep track of the times Steve had failed to hit on a girl. “Hey! My board! That was important data, shitbirds.”
“I guarantee you what we’re doing is way more important than your data.” The kid argued as Steve disposed of his banana peel onto the table and looked smugly at Robin.
“Yeah? And how do you know these Russians are up to no good anyways?” Robin asked them.
“You knew about the Russians?” You murmured to her.
“How does she know about the Russians?” The kid whispered to Steve.
“I dunno!” Steve answered through a mouthful of banana.
“You told her about the Russians?”
“It wasn’t me!”
“Hello, we can hear you.” Robin interrupted. “Actually, I can hear everything. You’re both extremely loud.” Robin clued them in. “You think you have evil Russians plotting against our country on tape and you’re trying to translate but you haven’t figured out a single word because you didn’t realize the Russians use an entirely different alphabet than we do. Sound about right?” Robin guessed, looking between the two.
“Sounds about right to me.” You shrugged.
Robin dove for the tape but Steve was quick to snatch it up before she could grab it. “Whoa! What do you think you’re doing!?” He asked and she shrugged.
“I wanna hear it.” She answered.
“Why?”
“Cause maybe I can help. I’m fluent in four languages you know.”
“Russian?” The kid asked her.
“Ou-yay are-yay umb-day.” Robin answered in Pig Latin.
Steve exclaimed excitedly thinking she was speaking Russian. “Holy shit!” The kid grinned at her.
“That was Pig Latin, dingus.” Robin informed them. Steve slapped the kid with his banana peel and called him an idiot. “But I can speak Spanish, French and Italian and I’ve been in band for twelve years.” She pulled a chair from the table and sat down. “My ears are little geniuses, trust me.” She smiled. Steve hesitated. “C’mon, it’s your turn to sling ice cream. My turn to translate.” She held her hand out for the recorder. “I don’t even want credit, I'm just bored.”
Steve sighed, taking the scoop from Robin’s hands and handing off the recorder.
You found yourself not in the back with Robin. Instead you found yourself up front helping Steve. Well, helping was a loose word. You weren't useful when it came to translating. The only language you know is English so you were better off elsewhere. Steve scooped the ice cream while you stocked up any dwindling frozen treats and toppings for him.
“Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.” Steve spoke when the throng of children slowed and dropped off.
You shrugged. “No problem. I’m not a language genius like Robin and I had nothing better to do.”
“Eddie?”
“Busy. Band stuff and then D&D.” You answered. Try as he did, you never got into playing the game. You sat in on Hellfire but you never actually played it.
The mini sliding window opened and Robin poked her head out as Steve scooped some more ice cream. “We have our first sentence!” She proclaimed to us.
“Oh really? And what is it?” You asked, grabbing a large jar of maraschino cherries.
“The week is long.” Robin answered in a fake Russian accent.
“Well that’s thrilling.” Steve answered sarcastically.
“No, but it’s progress.” She shrugged and shut the window once again.
Steve shook his head and turned to give ice cream to the two pre-teens in front of the counter. “Wait a second…are you even allowed to be here?” He asked the one with a short bob haircut. Both girls giggled and ran out of the store. “Uh… okay.” Steve murmured.
“Who was that?” You asked as you scooped the bright red cherries into the container in the toppings cooler for Steve.
“Oh, uh. This girl I babysat before. Her dad is strict about her going out so I was just surprised to see her.” He quickly explained as he fiddled with the tasting spoons.
You eyed him for a second. “Okeeey.” You shrugged, screwing the lid back onto the cherries and moving to put them back into the fridge.
—------------------------------------------
It was after hours now. All the other stores had closed in the mall at this point except for Scoops Ahoy. It took all the rest of the day but Robin and Dustin, the child, had managed to translate all the rest of the Russian.
“The week is long. The silver cat feeds. When blue meets yellow in the west.” You all read aloud.
“I don’t get it.” Steve announced.
“It has to be a code.” You answered with a shake of your head. “There’s no reason to talk like this unless it’s a code.”
You all gathered our things, walking out of the ice cream parlor. Steve pulled the grate down on the storefront before snapping the lock into place. “I mean it just doesn’t make sense. It can’t be right.” He argued.
“It’s right.” Robin argued back.
“Honestly, I think it’s great news.” Dustin answered.
“How is this great news?” Steve asked, “So much for being American heroes. It’s total nonsense.”
“It’s not nonsense. It’s obviously a code, like Y/N said.” Dustin pointed out to him.
“What do you guys mean a code?” Steve asked us.
“Like a super secret spy code.”
“That’s a stretch.”
“I don’t know, is it?” Robin asked, glancing back at you and Steve.
“Oh, you’re buying into this?”
“I mean, it makes sense. Why would they just outright say their plans over a transmission.” You pointed out, “That would make it too easy to catch them.”
“Exactly!” Dustin agreed.
“I know for sure my translation is correct. ‘The silver cat feeds’. There’s no reason to talk like that unless you’re trying to conceal the true meaning of your message.” Robin explained. As Dustin and Robin spoke further about the fact that there were, indeed, evil Russins somewhere plotting something big and evil; you noticed the lack of a taller male standing beside you.
You turned your head to find Steve crouched beside one of the little automatic pony rides that ran on a quarter. “Steve?” You called out to him. He was rooting in his pockets, coins falling out onto the ground.
“A quarter. Do you have a quarter?” He called back to you.
You shoved your hands into your pockets, trying to find the quarter you shoved in there after taking the bus. “You sure you’re tall enough for that ride?” Robin teased as Steve yelled for a quarter. You found yours, tossing it over to Steve. He caught it mid air and knelt down, shoving the quarter into the machine. As it whirred to life, the pony began rocking forward and back mimicking the gallop of a horse as it played music. Your eyes widened.
“The music.” You breathed, looking down at Steve.
“Need help getting up, little Stevie?” Robin asked him but Steve shushed her.
“Would you two just shut up and listen?” Steve asked.
“Steve, you’re a genius.” You murmured.
“Did you hit your head?” Robin asked, reaching out to touch your head. You swatted her hand away.
“That’s the music on the tape!” You pointed at the horse, “That’s the music Steve said was familiar on the tape. The one you’ve been listening to for hours!”
Dustin pulled his bag off of his shoulder, quickly digging out the recorder. He pressed the button to play the tape. The music on the tape began to match the music playing in front of us from the Indiana Flyer.
“Maybe they have the same exact horses in Russia?” Robin offered.
“Indiana Flyer? I don’t… I don’t think so.” Steve disagreed. “This code, it didn't come from Russia. It came from here.”
—------------------------------------
The next day, you found yourself crouched behind a potted plant with Steve Harrington and Dustin Henderson. Robin was manning Scoops Ahoy while you looked out for Russians. Steve had binoculars, looking around the main hub of Starcourt.
“See anything?” Dustin asked him.
You couldn’t see anything like a silver cat or… anything really.
“I don’t know what I’m totally looking for.” Steve admitted as he looked around.
“Evil Russians.”
“Yeah, exactly. I don’t know what an evil Russian looks like.”
“Tall, blonde, not smiling. Also look for ear pieces, duffle bags, that sorta thing.”
“Right, ok. Duffle bags.” Steve murmured. “Oh you’ve gotta be kidding me.” Steve whispered.
“What? What is it?!”
“Anna Jacob’s talking to that meathead Mark Lewinsky! Oh, Jesus Christ. Whatever happened to standards?! I mean, Lewinsky never even came off the bench.” Steve complained and you rolled your eyes.
“Really, Steve? That’s what you’re worried about?” You scoffed at him. Okay, maybe King Steve wasn’t totally dead.
“You are the worst spy ever. Give me the binoculars.” Dustin told him, reaching for the eyewear.
“Hey, stop! Hey.” Steve pouted as Dustin pulled the binoculars from him, sliding the strap off of his neck before Dustin could strangle him.
“Besides, I don’t get why you’re looking at girls. You’ve got the perfect one right in front of you.” Dustin argued.
“Seriously, if you say Robin again-”
“Robin.” Dustin answered.
Your eyes widened and suddenly the dirt in the potted plant became very interesting as you tried to pretend you weren’t around to hear this conversation. “No, don’t. No.” Steve complained.
“Robin, Robin, Robin.” Dustin repeated.
It became a flurry of Dustin saying Robin’s name while Steve vehemently said no over and over again. “No, man, she’s not my type.” Steve argued, “She’s not even… in the ballpark of my type.” Steve began listing the reasons why Robin wasn’t his type. You turned your body towards his, brow raised as he ragged on your friend for being in high school still like you were too and that she had done drama as well as band.
“Now that you’re out of high school, which means you’re technically an adult, don’t you think it’s time you moved on from primitive constructs like popularity?” Dustin asked him.
“Oh, primitive constructs? That something you learn at Camp…know nothing?” Steve asked him.
“Camp Know Where, actually. And no, it’s shit I learned from life. Like not insulting someone's friend right in front of them.” Dustin grinned at him.
Steve slowly turned to look at you, a guilty look on his face. You gave him a tight lipped smile. “So what’s wrong with drama and band, Harrington?” You snapped, “Are you really that shallow?”
“Look, it’s not that!” Steve fully turned towards you.
“Oh, it isn’t?!” You snapped at him. He was literally contradicting himself.
“...Okay, maybe it is.”
You scoffed, shaking your head at him. “I’m going back to Scoops.” You grumbled.
“There, why not ask Y/N on a date?” Dustin suddenly suggested.
“What?!” You and Steve both snapped at the same time.
“You both were semi friendly… you know before Steve insulted Robin.”
“And now that I learned that Harrington hasn’t changed, I’ll be on my way before he calls me a freak.” You rolled your eyes and pushed yourself to your feet. You walked around the boys and headed towards Scoops.
“Y/N! Wait!” Steve called after you.
You turned, flipping him off as you walked backwards before turning back around and stomping into Scoops. As soon as Robin saw you, she started grilling you about what happened and why you were mad. You didn’t tell her. Not that she wouldn’t have been surprised anyway. You simply said Steve and she didn’t push further. You sat down on the back counter as Robin went back to get a delivery a few minutes later. She came back about a minute later but as she did she ran past you. “Robin?” You called after her. She pushed past Steve and Dustin who looked at you confused when she breezed past them both. You shoved off of the counter and walked around the counter, running after Robin. You glanced around until you spotted her blue and white sailor suit. She was standing in the center of Starcourt, looking around wildly. “Robin?” You called.
She looked down at you with wide eyes. “I cracked it.” She announced.
“Cracked what?” Steve asked from behind you.
Robin hopped down in front of you all with a wide smile.
“I cracked the code.”
—---------------------------------------------------
“Are you sure you can’t stay and check out the loading dock with us?” Robin asked as you grabbed your backpack.
“Sorry, but nope. I got plans.” You answered her.
She smirked. “Plans with Eddie?”
“Who else do I hang out with besides you and Eddie, occasionally the Hellfire guys?” You laughed and she shrugged.
“I guess Steve and Dustin now.” She answered, “Eddie picking you up?”
“Yeah, he should be here.” You answered, “Back to Russians tomorrow?”
“You bet!” She laughed and pulled me into a hug.
You gently squeezed her. “See ya tomorrow, kid.” You flicked the brim of Dustin’s hat.
“Bye, Y/N!” Dustin called, “We’ll fill you in on our findings tomorrow!”
You walked out of Scoops Ahoy, heading towards the parking lot. “Y/N! Wait!” You sighed in exasperation. You turned around and frowned at the approaching navy blue figure. Steve was jogging after you. “Look, can I just say something?”
“Depends. Are you gonna insult me?” You grumbled, crossing your arms over your chest defensively and continuing to walk towards the doors.
“Look, I know I sounded like an asshole-”
“A total asshole.”
“A total asshole, but look I just… I know I can be shallow, ok? And you know Robin and I don’t get along. I’m just trying to get Dustin off my back.” Steve explained as he walked alongside you, reaching out to push the door open for you. You walked outside first, aware he was still following.
“Oh yeah, and what would you have said about me if I wasn’t right there and you weren’t in trouble already?” You asked, stopping to face him.
“What?” Steve stopped too.
“Dustin suggested you ask me out on a date. So what would you have said as your reasons not to date me if I hadn’t been there and been pissed at you already?” You challenged him.
“I…that isn’t even fair cause that isn’t an option anyway.”
“What isn’t?”
“You.”
“What?” You laughed in disbelief.
Steve motioned out to the parking lot. You looked over, spotting Eddie’s van easily. You could see him watching you from inside the van. “Dude’s totally in love with you.” Steve said matter-of-factly and you rolled your eyes at him.
“Not you too.” You groaned.
“Oh? Me too? So I’m not the first one to tell you this?” Steve laughed and you shot him a look.
“Eddie’s my best friend. Has been for years. It isn’t like that.”
“Suuuure it isn’t.” Steve sang, “So, go on a date with me then.”
“What?” Your head snapped towards Steve, eyes wide. Did he really just do that?
“I said, go on a date with me then if it isn’t like that.” Steve shrugged, “C’mon, we can catch a movie after tracking down evil Russians tomorrow.” Steve got this smile on his face. Going from being his annoying self to suddenly giving me a small, charming smile.
You blinked at him. “I… Okay,” You murmured.
“Okay?”
“Yeah, yes. We can do that.” You corrected yourself.
Steve’s smile widened. “Tomorrow night. We can see that Back To The Future movie?” He offered and you nodded.
“Okay. I’ll uh, see you tomorrow then.” You answered, slowly inching towards Eddie’s van. As you got a few feet from the van, you sprinted it. You pulled the passenger door open and quickly hopped into the van.
“Everything okay?” Eddie asked, eyeing you suspiciously.
“Yeah, great.” You lied.
—---------------------------------------
“Steve Harrington?!”
You winced from your seat on the couch. “Eddie,” You whined, reaching for the back of his shirt. He was currently pacing the length of his living room, clearly annoyed.
“You agreed to go on a date… with Steve Harrington?” He asked, stopping short when you finally got a handful of the back of his shirt.
“Kinda…sorta.” You murmured.
“I told him you were off limits!” Eddie turned, finger pointed at your face and lips turned down in a frown at me. He looked… upset? Angry? Both? You weren't so sure.
“It’s just a movie, Eds. It’ll probably be awful.”
“If he tries to kiss you, punch him.”
“Eddie!” You whined, slumping back on the couch and running your hands over your face.
“If he tries to grope your boobs, kick him in the nuts.”
“Oh, my god.” You dropped your hands and stared at your best friend.
“If he even THINKS about trying to fu-”
“Eddie!” You screeched, glaring at him.
Eddie stopped, looking down at you. He frowned and heaved a heavy sigh. “I’m sorry, sweetheart. I just… Steve? Really? We know how he uses girls…” He grumbled, finally moving to sit beside you again.
“It wasn’t like it came about normally. Dustin, this kid that I think you’d like cause he’s nerdy, he was encouraging Steve to go for Robin. I know she’d never go for him, but Steve started saying that because of her social status he wouldn’t date her. Like, he doesn’t even know how amazing she is!” You pouted, relaxing as Eddie’s hand rested on your knee as it usually did when you sat beside one another.
“Yeah, cause he’s an asshole.” Eddie mumbled, “What does that have to do with you?”
You sighed softly. “Dustin mentioned Steve should ask me out and I got mad. Mostly cause I was waiting for Steve to basically say the same about me, ya know?”
“All of which, he’d be stupid not to want to ask you out just cause of status. Continue.”
“Basically I just called him shallow. I think him asking me out is more of a way for him to show me he isn’t still King Steve.” You rolled your eyes.
“So… you’re gonna go still?”
You shrugged. “Yeah, why not? Make Steve Harrington buy me some popcorn and soda.”
Eddie offered a smirk. “The biggest ones you can get.”
