i half remember a second hand maybe rumor abt nobodies not aging- which, if that is a thing that was said, i think we can agree is a blatant lie. getting back to the point, sometimes i think abt the org members who were nobody’d as kids and get sad. some of these characters spent huge swaths of their life not experiencing emotions,,,

The Beach
What I love most about the beach party at the end of KH3 is the fact that not only is everyone finally happy and having fun after so much hardship, but no-one is sticking rigidly to their previously defined friendship groups. Not only can that limit personal growth to define someone by their relationship with one or two people (especially notable for the trios), but it is also something that has hurt many of these characters in the past. Riku and Isa felt cut out and replaced when their friend joined a trio they were excluded from. The wayfinders had a limited perspective on life due to growing up in isolation and being raised and trained to be keyblade wielders under rigid dogmatic beliefs.
Here, there is none of that. Instead, people are branching out from their original friendship groups, expanding their horizons and building other connections on their own terms that they can grow and learn from.
Riku sees Terra again, is on friendlier terms with Roxas, and the three have a race together.
Xion and Naminé get to interact under much better circumstances and collect seashells.
Lea, Isa and Ven have fun together playing with Lea's frisbees after over a decade.
Before, they were a collection of friendship groups who were mostly personally concerned for the other members of their group and for the greater good, united only by the goal to defeat a common enemy.
Now they are a community.
I hope we get to see more unorthodox friendships in this big cast of characters, especially for characters like Aqua, Terra, Naminé, Isa and Ienzo who don't really have many friends and would likely have difficulty making them (especially Naminé, Isa and Ienzo). It would do them in particular a lot of good to expand their social circles. Just like how it was important for Riku to have friends besides Sora and found one with Mickey, or how its important for Roxas and Xion to have friends more their own age like Hayner, Pence and Olette.

five comfort characters, five tags
Tagged by @tragediegh, thank you!
Beloved (RotE). Surprising absolutely no one. He is kind and witty and has this incredibly soothing presence that turns me insane in all the best ways.
The Doctor (Doctor Who). DW is overall a big comfort show for me, and that is largely due to the Doctor's kindness and ability to see the good and beautiful in everyone.
Donna (Doctor Who). She makes me laugh my ass out, and then, in the very next scene, she makes me weep like a baby instead. I love love love her.
Fitz (RotE). The man, the myth, the mess himself. All his worst qualities are painfully relatable. Which is probably not a good thing, but uhhhhh. yeah.
Ienzo/Zexion (Kingdom Hearts). He might be an unimportant side character, but after 16+ years of being KH fan, I've headcanon'ed and self-inserted so much into this man that he's a mainstay on any character list I ever make
Tagging @thenightisland, @naurielrochnur, @spectrum-color, @amongussy and @m-satvrn!

A Small Adventure with Dad - Sora x Child!Reader
Tumblr media
First off, hope you see this. I tried and failed to @ you.
Second, not gonna lie, I've been trying to write this since the request came in. It's been doing my head in and I rewrote it like 7 times. So I'm sorry it's not perfect, and probably not as fluffy as you hoped. And I definitely didn't do any edit/clean up, but I hope it at least entertains you a little.
Premise: The time has come to save the future
Words: 2,372
~~~~~
               The salty air breezes by, the sky raining warm sunshine down on us. Gentle waves rock the world while we bustle about in keeping Black Pearl sailing ahead.
               One of our men points out over the water. “Land ho!”
               “Land ho!” the rest of us holler out in excitement.
               It’s been a few weeks since I arrived here.
               And I don’t mean “here” by The Caribbean.
               The thing is, I’m not from around here. Where I come from, things are beginning to distort and fall apart. After my father and uncle vanished and my own existence began to flicker, we received a visit from a family friend who was able to point us in the direction of the event causing the chaos. It was tasked to me to fix this mess and with ample warnings not to meddle beyond what was required.
               So far, the hardest part has been finding my way without a version of myself here or losing my body, yet I did. It was sheer coincidence that I happen to run into Sora, Donald, and Goofy shortly after. There was some suspicion, but it pretty much evaporated when they discovered that I had my own keyblade. It’s been a comical series of events ever since. Everyone I meet asks how they know me or if we’ve met somewhere. Alternatively, they’re exasperated at the double chaos known as me and Sora. It’s not my fault we get along so well.
               I know it’ll end and probably sooner than I’d like, but until then, I’m going to thoroughly enjoy the time I have with my new friends.
               I get to work adjusting the sails as we divert course towards the island, singing that silly shanty at the top of our lungs as we have the whole time.
               “And really bad eggs!” Jack stumbles as the ship breeches the shore and goes tumbling over the edge.
               “JACK!” The rest of us run to the edge of the vessel to check on the captain. He simply lays in the sand, coming to terms with the fact that he’s ashore.
               Suddenly, there’s a little jingle. All eyes dart to Sora.
               “Sora!” Donald scolds, flapping his arms frantically.
               “Put it on silent!” I hiss.
               Instead, he answers it. “Hello?” he whispers loudly.
               “Sora, we—”
               “Shhh!” It’s kind of harsh, but in the name of the world order, we have no choice but to make Ienzo keep it down.
               “S-Sorry,” he says much softer.
               “What’s up?” asks Sora.
               “We’ve received some unusual activity in the Kingdom of Corona. Kairi, Riku, and King Mickey are already on their way, but I think it would be wise to send everyone to investigate this matter.”
               “It’s that big, huh?”
               I can’t help the goosebumps creeping up my spine. This might be it.
               “I believe so.”
               Sora looks to us for opinions.
               “What about Jack?” Goofy asks.
               Again, we peer over the railing to see the captain ambling off along the shore on his own.
               “He’ll be fiiiine,” I reply.
               “You think so?”
               “Look at him? He barely knows we’re here when we’re the ones manning his ship. I’m sure he’ll have gotten himself off the island and onto his next adventure without us.”
               We turn back to Sora who looks back at his GummiPhone. “We’re on our way.”
               “Great. I’ll inform the others to wait for you before proceeding.”
               The call ends there. One last glance is spared to the captain that still hasn’t acknowledged we haven’t joined him before we set out for the Kingdom of Corona.
               My boots meet the grass. Again, the sun blesses us with its warm kiss though the breeze lacks the heavy salt of The Caribbean. There’s significantly less water about, but instead the sea is of glorious, pastel flowers soaking in the radiant light from above.
               “This place is pretty,” I awe, taking in all the greenery.
               “About time our wayward pirates showed up.”
               Her voice captures our attention and we spot Kairi strolling closer, Riku and Mickey following after.
               “Hey guys!” Sora calls.
               “Do you guys have any leads on our Heartless?” I ask as we meet up.
               “Nope. We were told to wait for you,” Riku says. “Ienzo says it’s likely to be a tough one.”
               “Sounds fun,” I laugh.
               “Fun? Really?” Riku’s not nearly as entertained as I am.
               I shrug. “What? We’re investigating this whether or not we’re afraid. Might as well plan on beating it to a pulp.”
               Though he scrunches his nose in disapproval, there’s the slightest hint of a smirk in his expression. “I don’t know if you’re brave or crazy.”
               “Thanks! I inherited it from my father.”
               Well whatever expression he had, it all goes out the window, leaving him baffled. “Wha…What?”
               I wave my finger guns at him.
               Quite honestly, the conversation doesn’t get much smarter than that. So we set out, keeping eyes peeled for signs of this unusual Heartless.
               In spite of big words, my heart slams against my ribs, anxiety creeping into my throat. As we wander the woods, I elect to keep my mouth clamped shut. If this is what I think it is, they are not prepared for this and, quite frankly, I’m not even sure I am. But I can’t let on that I know—that would open too many lines of conversation I’m not allowed to divulge.
               The ground rumbles beneath our feet. My voice catches on that lump of anxiety, but Riku’s is clear.
               “Run!”
               Everyone manages to dive out of the way as the earth gives way. From the dirt rises a serpentine beast with a body littered in thorns. A trio of flowers sprout from the top, each snapping their razor-sharp teeth. The largest in the middle is the only real face with wild, spiraling eyes. On the chest of this beast is the tell-tale emblem of the Heartless. This is an ancient species of serpentine monster that disappeared well before even my father’s time; I’d only ever seen it mentioned in a book. And those notes were nothing good.
               With a roar, the beast attempts to bite down on anyone as it lunges at the group. This starts the wildest fight of my life. The triplet heads independently strike at lightning speeds and the thorns on its sides make it difficult to make a mark with our attacks. Even when they do land, the thick skin of the snake soaks the ones that do land. The heads aren’t even the only threat this thing has as the tail whips at us, crushing rocks when it missed.
               My heart stops when I watch Sora raise his weapon to top one of the smaller heads from chomping down on him. His arms strain to hold it back, leaving him wide open for the tail to come through. I have just a split second to get out of the way the brunette is sent flying back, colliding with the cliffside at our backs.
               It feels like a fist jerking on my heart and I stumble.
               This is bad. I knew they would struggle, but I don’t even know what I’m supposed to do against this thing. I wasn’t prepared to face a Thorned Snake.
               There’s the slightest movement at the cliff overlooking us. My eyes snap to the black coat observing the fight—that’s who summoned this monster.
               I narrowly missing getting bitten into as my blade changes into a glider and takes me up to meet the Organization member. The man with pink hair doesn’t even spare me a glance.
               “Stop! Stop this!” I shout, racing towards him. “Please, Lauriam!”
               A brow rises in my direction. “And just who are you?”
               “Someone who knows that if you do this, you will regret it.”
               I step back beneath his imposing figure. In a whirl of petals, he now wields his signature scythe. “Threatening me, are you?”
               “No!” I can’t raise a weapon to this man. I know him—I know the importance of the part he’s meant to play. “Please, just don’t do this!”
               “You have one last chance to run.”
               “Lauriam, please.” His second hand meets the staff and I cower beneath its rising blade. “I’ll give you a clue about what you’re looking for!”
               His body freezes, mid swing, and he turns on me with the look of a man gone feral. “What did you just say?”
               I barely have time to brace myself, yet I wasn’t really prepared to be hung midair by my neck.
               Voice deep, violent, desperate, he demands more. “Tell me what you know.”
               Unable to speak beneath the crushing force of his grip, I glance to the raging battle below. That grip tightens but I know that I have to hold out or this won’t be the end of just me.
               A frustrated huff signals that I’ve won. I hit the ground, gasping for air. His snap echoes in the air, followed shortly by the ground rumbling. In the battle below, vines burst from the ground, entangling the beast. It soon forgets my allies as it struggles against the bindings. Thorns pierce its skin, eliciting a roar of pain and I almost feel bad for the thing. There was no hope against the crushing vines as the Heartless soon releases its heart and disperses in a cloud of smoke.
               Immediately, Marluxia turns on me. “Now tell me. Where is it? Why am I here?”
               Collecting my composure, I rise to my feet. “You need to look into the Realm of Fiction.”
               He’s barely restraining himself in his frustration. “What does that mean?”
               “That’s all I can tell you.”
               “And why should I trust you? What’s stopping me from choking the life out of you right now?”
               Suddenly it occurs to me—the reason she was the one to visit and set me on this path. Reaching into my jacket, I pull the fabric she asked me to keep with me. In my outstretched hand I offer up the vermillion ribbon. All that animosity washes off him, replaced by weary heartache. Almost reverently, he accepts my gift.
               “Where did you get this?” he murmurs, not quite understanding his own reaction.
               “You’ll find out soon enough.”
               His green eyes scan me over once again. “You’re not from here, are you.”
               I shrug with a meek smile.
               “You know I can’t back down from this war, right? I will defeat them when the time comes.”
               “You do what you need to do,” I say. My feet carry me towards the edge of the cliff. “May your heart be your guiding key.”
               What I said stuns him. “What did you—?!”
               Marluxia’s question can’t be answered now. I take that last step off the edge landing on the glider that carries me down to the waiting warriors of light below. I can’t fight the smile on my face, having succeeded in my mission, averted a crisis, and set everything back on the right path.
               “You guys okay?” I ask as my feet hit the ground.
               “What happened?” Kairi asks.
               Riku has some idea. “What did you do?”
               “I just…had a heart-to-heart.”
               “With Marluxia?” Sora is full of skepticism.
               “Yep.” I let the smile slip. “But don’t let that fool you. He’s still just as much of a threat as he was before. Do not take him lightly.”
               “How did you do that?” Donald scratches his head.
               “I can’t tell you.”
               His feathers ruffle. “You and your secrets.”
               Mickey isn’t quite as bothered. “We’d better report back to Ienzo and let him know that the Heartless is gone.”
               Sora looks to me. “And we better get back to Jack and make sure he’s not still stranded on that island.”
               I’m not quite prepared for this. My time here was always meant to be limited but getting to know these people in this time is a memory I’ll always keep close to my heart. It’s really made me come to appreciate who they are.
               Still, it takes me a moment to get the words out. “Actually, I think it’s time for me to go.”
               Surprise crosses all their face.
               “Huh? Where to?” asks Sora.
               “Home.” A laugh escapes me. “My dad is probably waiting for me to tell him all about this.”
               A hand passes through his hair as he considers the non-existent options. “You’re from Destiny Islands right? We could probably make a pitstop there if you wanna see him.”
               “It’s a bit more complicated than that.” From my pocket, I produce a star-shaped gem.
               Mickey immediately recognizes the item. “That’s a star shard!”
               “Yep. There’s a detour I gotta make if I want to actually get home.”
               “So when are you coming back?” I knew that question would pop up, but I don’t know if it’s more or less painful that it’s Sora who asks.
               “It’s gonna be a long time,” I answer honestly. “You’ll probably have forgotten me by the time we meet again and you may not recognize me.” I offer a hand in the face of his confusion. “But we will meet again. Trust me.”
               The parting sadness in his eyes brightens, a small hint of happiness coming through.
               “Alright.”
               Sora takes my hand and I pull him into my arms. With a hearty pat, I step away from him and bid the rest goodbye in turn. The star shard in my hand begins to glow as I send it the thoughts of my destination. Memories of my time here swell in my heart. Muscles in my cheeks hurt from all the smiles, but I don’t even care.
               “See you guys.” The next words slip from my mouth before I can even think about it. “Bye dad, I love you.”
               Oh I messed up. It feels like the everything stops and I wait for the worlds to end.
               Instead, Riku points at me with accusation. “I KNEW IT!”
               Sora, himself, is confused out of his mind. “Wait, what?!”
               Kairi puts a hand on his shoulder. “Sora, that’s your—"
               “WELL!” I interrupt loudly. “I’ve overstayed my welcome and Wilbur’s parents are gonna kill him if I don’t get his ship back! Bye!”
               Before the star shard takes me away, I hear Sora’s voice.
               “Bye, I love you too!”
Ohhh yeah we delving into the sweet treats this fine day of @khoc-week!
These are the kind of fun little ditties that rot my brain day in and day out, so I'm thrilled to get to indulge in some fun, albeit short, writing about it!!
One day I will fully indulge and the world will implode-
Erm. Anyway-
*scribbles out that 'or' and shoddily writes in an 'and' in its place*
Day 3 - Friends (and) Lovers
While they are all super close to each other in one way or another, they each have their own unique relationships they make outside the Heart Hotel dynamic!
I'll still touch on their relationships with one another, but it's also what's outside the clique that counts~
Iris:
Tumblr media
Her only big relationship is with Alto, their dynamic being "innocent baby man and grumpy keeper of the brain cell."
Despite that, Iris sees him in a best friend sort of way, the two were super close when they got separated, after all. When they reunite, it's almost if no time had passed, and perhaps Iris learns to... loosen up?
She made teammates and brief friendships, but nothing seemed to come close to their dynamic. Maybe if she had more time, that wouldn't be the case, but the world may never know!
Iris sees Iliana and Reixen as her older sisters, in a way, even though the two of them get on her (and each other's) nerves most of the time. She looks up to them despite their somewhat brainless way of handling things, and it gives her role models she hadn't gotten back in her actual time.
Irene gets the special privelege of being her mother figure! Because in all honesty she doesn't recall having a mom, so Irene is her next best bet. She's too much of a steel wall to admit it, but Irene is her favorite of the others.
♡♡♡
Irene:
Tumblr media
Irene up until now really only interacted with castle staff, so her closest relations were really only a coworker dynamic in full. She enjoys tea time with Aeleus and Dilan, at least!
Aside from that, she started collecting adoptions in town, starting with Ienzo and Kairi, and moving on to Lea and Isa, Ventus, even, until finally any random stranger with children who frequently visited was not safe! Specifically Iliana-
She ended up collecting two others in the form of Iris and Reixen! Both reluctant at first but gave up and settled into it like a pair of stray cats. Reixen is far more open about it, but Iris is still touchy. Eventually, she will cave and accept her fate...
More came in after the events of KH3. No one was safe from her love and support, especially after the war-
She doesn't have very many parental rivalries, most of the group's parental figures tend to be in united agreement about the children, but she does have some tension towards Ansem the Wise and Even just based on prior experience. Mickey? It's a work in progress. Donald and Goofy? Her besties.
Tumblr media
Eventually, she finds a fine companion in Iliana's uncle, Russell, and mayhaps... the two have a silly romance?
After a post-KH3 meetcute when everyone is hunkered down in recovery, they stay at his shop for a few nights, so the two have time to get to know each other. They mostly talk about their experiences with their little arsonist, but it eventually evolves into more personal territory, something they resolve after a few very simple and cute dates.
Finally, a time where Irene can truly get out of uniform...
Also he's one of the stoic types that she just KNOWS she has to break eventually. She will get this man to smile no matter the cost!
Oh yeah it's all coming together~
They've earned it considering all the stress they go through with their collective adopted charges-
♡♡♡
Iliana:
Tumblr media
Iliana out of all of them makes the most connections, but only a few of them stuck because she struggles to allow herself to make friends. Allies, sure, but friends? Naaaah~
She started out in her home world with a friend group in the form of Enya, Harlow, Rinée, and Tobias. They were all super close up until their teen years, sticking by each other through thick and thin! And they involved her little brother at times when her parents were out of town.
Her little brother, Mandorian is, like, THE most important person to her. He's just a little guy who loves frogs and hanging out with his big sis when she's not busy training. The two are so often left unattended that it's not hard to believe they spend most of their time together. Wherever she goes, he's close behind!
But whenever they're not together, she's hanging out with Tobias!
She and Tobias were two peas in a pod, completely inseperable most of the time. Tobias was her (secondary) light, and her brother's personal favorite person aside from her, so you can understand how soul destroying it was when they got murked (by her mortal enemy, she doesn't know this until way later though) in order to kickstart and send her on her hero's journey-
She fell out of touch with the others by the time she left due to the loss bringing out the worst in all of them, but Enya seemed to be the only one who continued to cling to what was left of their friendship...
Anyway-
Tumblr media
After suffering a horrible death and was subsequently resurrected, she got pulled into Sora's goofy family along with Alto, which filled in a gap left behind by her other (temporary) loss of her younger brother.
It's like she gained two new dads and two lil' bros all in one day, what a world-
Being parentified at a young age meant she knew how to handle keeping Sora and Alto in line, but that doesn't really stop her from doing her own very stupid stuff when they aren't looking. The hypocrite-
She kind of develops a dad dynamic with King Mickey as well, but it's not terribly definitive considering how absent he is...
Over time, the Guardians of Light end up being her found family DLC add-on, it's very wholesome! She's touchy about it, but like Iris eventually she will cave in to the love and affection.
Irene, Reixen, and Iris are like her chill aunt and weird siblings that irritate her, and that's very cool of them. They were there first, so no one can top that. They're like the only family she had most of the time aside from her uncle, so there's a distinct boundary of trust between them that others can't really match.
Tumblr media
Along the way, she also has many unrequited crushes on princesses or side characters of sorts, but the only romance in the timeline she persues (even if she's unaware of it half the time, she's very dense) is with Ienzo! Because a certain porcupine is now part of a polycule with a grape and an electric beetle- It would have never worked out, tbh.
She didn't settle, she just had a sudden and very real realization that she fell for probably THE dorkiest person possible. So many characters to pick, so many pretty princesses, handsome princes, teammates with more screentime, and it had to be a basement dwelling rat (affectionate)...
Considering her prior heartbreak at the loss of her childhood bestie, it does take a while for her to come to terms with the fact that it's okay to move on. She holds on to so much that you may need to pry it from her very warm, still alive hands-
Luckily, the two did know each other well enough since they interacted a bunch when they were kids, she did visit Radiant Garden quite a bit after all, it only made sense they may have some chemistry later down the line. Her grandma would joke about it with Ansem the Wise, but little did she know that it would become very real and very cute actually-
I dunno what it is with her and nerds, but if you can talk her ear off while all the info leaks out of her hearing holes, you have most certainly won her heart. Ienzo also partially fits the bill for her morosexual side, depending on the situation that isn't science related. Like cooking or something. Equal parts smart and dumb, just the way she enjoys them-
They're both t4t brainless nerds and in love, love wins etc etc.
♡♡♡
And there you have it! It's not much but it's honest work-
They all deserve the love and respect they get along their journies, and I'm happy to say that they do find it all eventually!
Enough on that though, we're indulging in angst this next day. See y'all on Day 4!! >:3c
Vexen/Even Pokemon I thought up while bored
Tumblr media
I wanted this team to work for him both as a Nobody and Somebody. Here are my reasonings for my choices.
Alolan Ninetales- I had two big reasons for this choice. One is, of course, that his power is ice and it’s an Ice type, pretty simple. The other is that it suits him well aesthetically. He does have a rather elegant flair. It’s bit more obvious as a Somebody, but even as a Nobody it noticeable in things like his coat (it’s hemmed longer than the other ones has wider sleeves) and the designs of his shields ( especially since a lot of the weapons in Days look kind of ugly). I wanted to pick one that went will well that vibe and Alolan Ninetale fits nicely
Silvally- I picked this as Silvally is an artificially created pokémon, which fits well with the Replica program and it’s a fun one to play around with idea-wise. My little thought process with that is how there are 3 Type:Nulls, so in this case one for him, Xion, and Repliku (which ends up being Namine’s). They evolve into Silvallys at pivotal points for the characters, in his case it does so when he decides to atone. Only really changes its type when needed, usually it just stays Normal.
Avalugg- It’s an Ice type and has a very shield like quality to it. Thanks to its flat back, it could also be useful in carrying things from place to place, although probably not used for more delicate things as there’s the risk of stuff slipping off and breaking. Also picked it as Avalugg is known to carry Bergamite around, which fits nicely with the fact that he was Ienzo’s primary guardian (at least when it came to actual child care).
Aurorus- The big reason for this choice is that it’s literally an Ice type fossil pokemon, it’s pretty much a perfect match as a blend of ice and science. Like Ninetales it works very well aesthetic-wise too. If I was only picking one Pokémon for this, Aurorus would be my choice.
Aegislash-This one was just because it is literally a sword and shield combined, not unlike his sleight Slide Break. That’s it really, but that’s fine by me.
Drampa- I’ll admit this one is a bit of an oddball pick, but I do have my reasoning. Both BBS and the Character Files show that before losing himself in his research of the Heart’s Darkness and being turned into a Nobody, he was a calm man who sought to aid others. Once he becomes a Nobody, those traits are replaced by an aggressively short-temper. He will gladly ruin the Organization’s plans if it will help heal his wounded pride. Drampa is a pokemon noted for its compassionate disposition, but when it is angered it has a tendacy towards rampaging ( for example, the pokedex entry about it setting it setting people’s houses on fire if they hurt the kids that it has befriended). This one might still be a bit of stretch, but I think it’s interesting to have a pokemon that also has a duality like that.
Ones that were also considered- Froslass, Bastiodon, Porygon-Z, Glaceon, Umbreon, Espeon
Also I did not intend for it to be a mix of Kalos and Alola, it just shook out like that.
Hey can i hear abt ur passed pawn duo/sora kairi bbs theory pls im rlly curious
AAAAAA IM SO HAPPY U ASKED OK so for me i think they’ve been dropping hints in each game for a very long time but it’s easy to miss them.
The biggest one as of recent is in MOM where Kairi tries to find Sora in her memories. She might have thought he returned to her like Vanitas had Ventus’s past memories after being split from him in the way they were (KH3 novel states this) so that’s why I believe she chose the memory search method. She thought it’d be the most productive way to save Sora because he’s not just a product of himself but the old Kairi as well. He had her old memories for a very long time and it helped shape who he is even if it was on a subconscious level. Xehanort says those memories long gone and that implies Kairi’s old memories went SOMEWHERE.
But why do I think this? I’ve got a few examples.
Kairi didn’t want to leave the islands but Sora held an interest in Kairi’s home world. “Xion came from Castle Oblivion. That’s probably why she was asking about the place.” Riku runs operations for the Sora search out of Radiant Garden where Kairi is from. Ienzo states he hasn’t seen Sora since the castle but…he never saw Sora at Castle Oblivion. Sora also is the one to help restore Radiant Garden. And a small note I enjoy is Sora apologizing for lying to Ariel about not being from another world. Ariel isn’t mad and states if he can visit other worlds, maybe she can too. Reminds me of Sora looking like he thinks Riku is talking to him when he’s telling Kairi it’s thanks to her he thought of trying to go to another world. He might’ve gotten credit if he was honest about who he used to be. If he even knows. Shang also gets upset at Mulan for lying about her identity and Sora even expresses he can relate to her in the manga version.
(Maybe for different reasons but the reading of what gender you view him as is up to you. Personally, I read him as a trans guy.)
Sora makes the difference in helping save Aqua. Aqua stated she felt like she met Kairi for a reason and Sora helping save her after ten years of suffering in the Dark World sounds like a pretty big reason to me. He could also use her weapon Master Defender which Kairi touched Aqua’s weapon when they met and people have theorized that’s how Kairi can use Destiny’s Embrace so…wouldn’t the same be possible for the old Kairi?
Xion looks more like Kairi but she has a lot more similarities to Sora in her personality that Riku himself can’t help but notice in the Days novel. It wasn’t just him seeing Xion as Sora. He felt like he couldn’t lie to her because of how much Xion and Sora had in common. She also stays at Hollow Bastion after running away. From this, I think she’s supposed to be a hint that the old Kairi has been Sora right under our noses this whole time. Xion also expresses worry about Kairi in the Days novel that’s very reminiscent of Sora’s care for her. Namine actually keeps her promise to be real friends with Sora through Xion too. My favorite indication of this is Data Sora asking Data Namine if she kept her promise “to the me I don’t know”. That’s why them talking happily in the KH3 ending is even sweeter.
That’s just some of my reasons but I’m out of energy so we can continue this in another ask later if you’re interested! I’m really happy to know people are curious about this because it feels like it’s becoming more and more real with each game.
more attempts at reconciling old kh canon with new kh canon might make big posts for these too with, like, evidence or whatever, but for now it’s just this
There were only 6 apprentices to Ansem the Wise/Lea and Isa were there too, actually- okay so Ansem officially recognized them as apprentices but none of the others trusted them or included them in anything. Lea and Isa finally managed to infiltrate the castle, yes, but they were barred from so much shit that it was barely any better than where they were at before. nominally apprentices, nothing more
All of Ansem’s apprentices betrayed him/turns out Ienzo wasn’t involved in the banishing part- Ienzo says they told him Ansem had “gone mad” and “abandoned [them]” but that can be interpreted lots of ways. It might’ve been straight up lying to him, but it also might’ve been heavy manipulation, making Ienzo think Ansem needed to be banished, and he was involved. But this one was heavily interpreted on both ends- I don’t think anything ever explicitly said all of Ansem’s apprentices banished him, it was just kinda assumed- so it’s whatever
Also if we’re doing a thing of considering cutscenes more canon than what is written in reports I want to mention that in the Chamber of Repose/Waking cutscene Xigbar mentions getting rid of Ansem tW and Zexion doesn’t give any reaction which implies that he already knows. You could say he found out some time as Zexion instead of knowing from the beginning as Ienzo but- wait actually that has a lot of fun potential
KHOC WEEK 2023 DAY 3: FRIENDS OR LOVERS
Tumblr media
I will never not love this sketch and I'll pull it out any given opportunity I swear.
So, Kimbri has a LOT of interpersonal connections that mean a lot to her, but a little fun fact I've shared before and will likely share again is that it's thanks to @khoc-week that she has an official ship! Kimbri and Leon's relationship got it's start with the original KHOC Week's AU day prompt where I drew a silly little Shoujo AU where Kimbri had a crush on Leon. (I was a bit late to that prompt, didn't post it until the 6th but I drew it the day before so their anniversary is August 5th!) Things just grew from there, and now I couldn't imagine not having this ship!
Anyway, into the lore! I'll just hit the highlights about who her most important people are. These are listed in no particular order
Leon, of course. The love of her life, her sweet lion. Couldn't imagine a life without him at this point, and thankfully she'll never have too.
Aerith, her best friend and a sort of surrogate sister figure.
Ienzo, since they were both wards of Ansem the Wise she considers him her little brother.
Vega, her biological big brother who went missing during the Fall, he's the one she's searching for.
Cloud, a close friend (and in some AUs an additional romantic partner, poly ftw) She is often frustrated with his constant disappearing acts.
Sora, she basically adopted him as an additional little brother after meeting him during KH1.
Echo, in Sister AU Echo gets the same treatment as her brother, becoming a beloved ray of sweetness and sunshine in Kimbri's life.
Cid, he's been her surrogate father figure for the past decade or so since the Fall.
Vincent, also fills the role of a surrogate father, but in a different way than Cid does.
Rosa, the mysterious woman who ran Traverse Town's only restaurant, she provided a nurturing feminine presence in Kimbri's life that had previously been sorely lacking as all her parental figures since her birth parents passed had been men.
Merlin, he taught her most of what she knows about magic after she lost her memories of most of Ansem's teachings for reasons unknown to her.
Orihime, Sora and Echo's mother. She doesn't meet her until very late in the story but she quickly becomes very dear to her, reminding of her birth mother in the most comforting way.
Ansem the Wise, her uncle and guardian with whom she currently has a strained relationship. She loves him dearly but it's hard to reconcile that with the horrible things that happened under his watch, including her own trauma to do with the Apprentices' experiments.
And then there's a few that haven't been born yet
Tumblr media
These are Leon and Kimbi's kiddos, who are of course some of her most precious people! Ariav and Nova are twins!
Ariav, the eldest, Mama's little helper who's always trying to fix things for her.
Nova, the middle child, strong willed and independent her mother is one of the few people who can reign her in without a fight.
Zephyr, the youngest, the biggest Mama's boy in the group, loves to sit and read or learn about magic with her. (He takes after Kimbri's father's side of the family so that's why he doesn't look much like the rest of the family. He also got Mama's "gets cold easily gene poor bab.)
Who would be a better dad in the organization?
This is my ranking of best dad's to worst dad's in the Organization
Lexaeus. It was hard to decide between him and Xaldin but he takes first place. He is everything you want in a dad. It may not seem like it though but he is a big softie
Xaldin. He is the second best dad in the Organization. He has those moments where he can get a little too strict but he learns from his mistakes. He just wants his kiddos to be safe.
Ansem SOD. Since I have the headcanon that the Twilight Trio are his kids, he would be the third best dad. He would make sure they do their homework every single day. There are times where he can get strict but it’s not too much.
Xemnas. Like Xaldin he can get a little too strict. But keep in mind that he’s learning. He’s still getting used to emotions and all.
Vexen. Sure he’s taken care of Ienzo but there’s the slight chance that he would want to use his kid for an experiment
Saïx. Now while he does have his fun moments, he is one of those strict dads who makes you have a curfew and all that.
Luxord. I’m sorry but there’s a chance that he’ll gamble all of the child support for something else. And he probably won’t apologize for it either.
Xigbar. He can get a little too reckless with his kid. Especially with his space powers. He accidentally dropped his kid while hanging upside down.
Marluxia. This man will enter his kid into a beauty pageant. I’m sorry but it’s true.
Zexion. Poor baby does not know what to do with a child. He might just hand the kid over to either Vexen or Lexaeus.
Axel. He would probably be like Xigbar and be too reckless with his kid. He thinks sweets for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is okay. It’s not Axel
Demyx. Do NOT give this man a child. He will forget about them and leave them somewhere for hours till he can remember that they’re there.
Vanitas. No. Just no.
I’m not adding Roxas since he’s technically a year old
supposed to be doing a 2k essay due on monady but i havent been able to focus so have some notes on athena cykes: keyblade revolutionnaire
quite honestly, i think being a keyblade wielder is athena's calling. she fits in there so fuckin well its astounding. she basically has magic, shes an expert in the goings-on of heart and mind and shit, shes already strong as fuck, i think she would love it there
i decided to set this post-kh3 and/or melody of memories, which was a bad decision because ive not played either of those games but whatever
aaverse is in quadratum!!! on their side, trucy was doing a magic show and made thena disappear and couldnt get her to reappear kfldkjflskjdf on the other side, the fairy godmother was doing some shit like 'let us bring back sora' and instead of sora, athena popped out. whoops! now she has to use her emotion powers to get sora back somehow [method pending]
initial chapters have her partnered w riku just bcos i think itd be funny. athena desperately trying to explain what a lawyer is to riku, who wont stop replying 'but if theyre doing bad things why dont you just defeat them in combat'
HER N KAIRI FRIENDS!!! friends they deserveit. i think kairi would remind her of juniper a bit
her n ienzo also friends bcos im predictable :) they bond over widget being cool and then the backstory horrors with a side of 'guy who felt emotions for the first time 2 months ago + guy with emotion reading powers'
i really want her to go to wonderland. i think it would be fun
OH YEAH SHE GETS AN ASS-KICKING OUTFIT!! im thinking crop hoodie with long sleeves + a skirt with leggings + her stupid boots
she gets a keyblade ofc :) idk specifics of the blade but the charm is her earring
also mayhaps slight au where the phantom was from the khverse? torn between nobody bcos Look At Them and one of the primordial darknesses bcos why not
anyway please imagine the end of this au where the khverse and aaverse do tradesies between sora and athena and she turns up back at the office 3 months later, on the missing persons list and holding a big big sword, like 'hey guys funny story'
^and at the end she gets a special quadratum-edition gummi add-on to widget so she can keep in touch with all her kingdom hearts friends :)
ienzo and vanitas study! im curious
HOKAY so I'm not sure I can give you a Study. per se. Because I personally don't really Understand Vanitas on a deep level and I tend to think of him in terms of what he represents(?) for other characters. BUT I WILL TALK ABOUT SOME THOUGHTS I HAVE ABOUT THEM. below the cut bc this got Long and Rambly
SO. the Big Thing that Vanitas and Ienzo have in common is their lives being completely and utterly dictated by The Same Guy. Mr. Xehanort himself. GRANTED Ienzo also had to contend with his shitty dad polycule but at the core of it all, they were both used and manipulated by a man who fully expected both of them to die, who wanted at least Vanitas to die, and lost any childhood they could have had in his infinite pursuit of Kingdom Hearts. Both of them were very, very young when Xehanort stole their identities and bodies and set them on a futile quest to get back what was theirs, all while working for/seemingly being at least partially raised by the man who killed them in the first place. Both of them are in a shaky, uncomfortable place at the end of KH3 (assuming that Vani reforms) where neither of them knows who they are or what they want. Neither of them knows how to be a person, and neither of them have ever really wanted to know, but they're being forced into it because all the people who controlled their lives, whether indirectly or directly, have completely fucked off, rejected them, died, or decided that they were going to be a Good Boy now. And neither of them can handle it!
Vanitas spent his entire existence desperately trying to re-fuse with Ventus. Vanitas would rather fade into darkness than exist independently. But now he has to exist on his own and contend with the fact that his entire being is based on someone who does not want him and everything he has ever done was futile. He's angry and tired and hurt. What scraps of an identity he built for himself were all based on spite and Ventus. So now what.
Ienzo, too, has never really had an identity. I think it really says something that Ienzo can't really conceptualize the idea that he was too young to have any fault for what happened at Radiant Garden. Obviously there's a couple reasons for that, but the one that's important here, I think, is that the only thing he had to define himself at the time was his intellect and the fact that he was, technically, a scientist. He ran around in a little lab coat and was involved in experiments; of course baby him thought he was a coworker instead of purely a ward. He was too little to have even figured out if he liked sports, never mind that he seemed traumatized even back then. Xehanort DID NOT HELP, and it is very likely that Ienzo was groomed by him. (not for sexual reasons, mind, just his utter loyalty). And then he was stripped of his heart and emotions for the next 10 years. All he knows about Ienzo is that he was a smart scientist who caused the fall of Radiant Garden, so that's who he is now that he's whole again. And this is an impression he got from the other apprentices, not any memory he has of being Ienzo.
Moreover, thanks to Xehanort (and basically every other Adult at the time) both Vanitas and Ienzo think that they're fundamentally broken in some way, incapable of ever being fully human in any meaningful way, and evil beyond saving. How they respond to this is different, of course, with Vani choosing to embrace being The Bad One as spitefully as he can while Ienzo just silently turns all his anger towards Everything inward.
So. Where does that leave them?
Vanitas, I think, would find himself infinitely frustrated by Ienzo's passive acceptance of everything that happened to him. Vanitas is bitter and angry, all the time. He's known that his life was messed up from the moment he came into existence, has hated his Master from the moment he was capable of it, but went along with the ride because he had an end goal and Xehanort, seemingly, could get him to it. I think he sees himself in Ienzo, willingly being strung along by whoever has grabbed his leash despite how he really ""should know better"" (in Vanitas' deeply questionable opinion). I think he'd also be bitter that Ienzo got to be whole again while Vanitas will never be whole (again, in his deeply questionable opinion) and how he seems to have his shit figured out (more than Vanitas, anyway). But I also think he feels a weird sort of.. kinship? responsibility? over this kid who is so much like him. He can kind of sense Ienzo's secret rage, and sympathizes (um. in a distinctly Vanitas way) with Ienzo's fear of keyblades. Buuuut.... hes also, just a little, frightened of him. Because Ienzo is powerful, and dangerous, and the only thing keeping him from being Zexion again is Ienzo's manufactured guilt and common decency. Vanitas could physically fight off any Organization member, but there's hardly anything he can do about illusions.
Ienzo, meanwhile, would probably like Vanitas well enough? Ienzo doesn't really let himself have opinions, not unless hes talking to his shitty dad polycule, so what exactly he thinks about Vanitas can be hard to extrapolate. But he does find himself mildly frustrated by Vanitas' inability to take responsibility for his own actions - Vani continues to struggle to see himself as a complete person and tends to blame others for the things he does. In a, "Ventus refused to fuse with me so all the pain I inflict on his friends is his fault" kind of way. (But of course, this comes more from Ienzo's need to take on responsibility for everything bad that happened ever rather than any moral frustration with Vanitas' actions) But, Ienzo's used to dealing with jackasses, and is more comfortable around rude assholes than he is kind and polite people, so he doesn't mind Vanitas' Attitude. Ienzo likes that Vanitas is so straightforward about what he wants, and doesn't bother having any secret intentions (unless he wants to start a fight). Ienzo, having grown up as a heartless creature of the Dark, is more comfortable with Darkness anyway. (And Darkness is more comfortable with him, but that's another story.) But Also. A very large part of him is Immoral Scientist so while hes trying VERY HARD to be Polite about it I do think he is tempted to strap Vani down to his vivisection table, and is generally fascinated with his existence.
On a nicer note I think that Vani met baby Ienzo, though I’m not sure when. Not for very long, probably just wondering why his floods were gently inspecting this kid and being inspected in return. I also think that they’d be very good friends. I tend to gently push the two of them together in aus when I can, and I think they’d be surprisingly good for each other!
Vani’s like “where’s your FIRE where’s your RAGE you were WRONGED, you should BITE PEOPLE ABOUT IT!!!” and Ienzo keeps him in check while also not trying to fundamentally change him or even really make him “nicer”. Vanitas, I think, would be very curious about the world once he reforms but weary of being around anyone associated with the Light, and he knows they don’t like him and it’s mutual, but that doesn’t mean he appreciates being hated everywhere he goes. But Ienzo doesn’t hate him, and in fact, seems to rather like him, and is happy to answer any questions Vani may have about anything. He doesn’t seem to want anything out of Vanitas other than to ask some questions about his existence every so often. Most of the time, my sort of.. headcanon, I suppose, though it’s more like a fun scenario, of how they meet again and become friends is that Vani sort of slinks around Radiant Garden for Light Warrior Reasons and Ienzo, who can smell him and therefore always knows when he’s nearby, starts sloooooowly gaining his trust by being overall very friendly and polite but keeping his distance. Vani’s like a weird, spicy little stray cat and Ienzo is metaphorically (but also sometimes physically) feeding him until he follows him home and refuses to leave. I think they’d figure out how to Person together, with Ienzo helping Vani discover what he is outside of Ventus & Xehanort while Vani pushes Ienzo into unpacking his emotions about his fucked up life and breaking free of his self-inflicted stifling of himself. They’re shockingly functional! (and also touch starved as hell and I like to imagine Vanitas randomly deciding to latch onto Ienzo and refusing to let go. Ienzo doesn’t even care he’s just like “hi Vanitas :)” and moves on with his day with a whole ass gremlin attached to him. They’re sillayyy)
Sorry for getting back to you late I completely passed out after writing the opening :,D hopefully this makes sense lol. boy howdy this is Long but I hope it’s at least kind of what you were looking for??
F and G?
F: Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
"Oh, really? So you all didn't manipulate me into being the one who convinced Master Ansem to make that special lab for running experiments on hearts? I wanted so badly to prove I was one of you, that I could be taken seriously despite my age and you all… you used and lied to me. Every single one of you. Because Xehanort had us all so caught up in his cult of personality that you told a child that his guardian… his only remaining family had abandoned him. And that it was my fault for helping hide our experiments from him. You made me think he'd gone mad and I was to blame. I knew our experiments were wrong, but you were the adults. I followed your examples because I thought I could trust you to do the right thing, to protect me. I shouldn't have needed protecting from you!"
Part of Ienzo going off at Aeleus in Hearts in a Void
The full scene is that Aeleus started teasing Ienzo about his 'girlfriend', who was a friend who'd read into Ienzo's friendliness the wrong way since Ienzo is aromantic and instead of accepting she'd made a mistake and staying friends with him is now giving him the cold shoulder. It's sort of a 'straw the broke the camel's back' moment. Ienzo hasn't been feeling respected by Aeleus or Dilan as a coworker already and he's been stressed over realizing he isn't interested in romantic relationships and the way he was treated as a child was very manipulative and abusive - something Aeleus and Dilan were a big part of. And they never really apologized for any of it.
It was really cathartic to write, really. When I was first figuring out that I'm aromantic, my sister wasn't taking my refusal to sign up for online dating seriously - she never signed me up without my permission, but only because my brother-in-law convinced her that'd be a bad idea. Thank goodness for him, really. In retrospect my parents didn't really realize I was telling them I was queer when I came out to them the first time around. And my dad has a tendency to treat verbal arguments like he's won if I tear up - guess who stress cries easily?
Writing a character confronting someone who'd wronged him and wasn't listening when repeatedly corrected was something I really needed to write out. And while things have improved for me over the years - my sister is now a big supporter despite our differences and my parents actually understand that me being aromantic and asexual are my queer identities now (though dad's still a dick when we argue about something - he doesn't like to be told he's wrong and absolutely moves goalposts mid argument, multiple times, if it means 'winning'). I think the feelings I got onto the page for that fic are still with me and have influenced other fics as well. But there was just something particularly special about writing for Ienzo in that fic that I come back to when I'm struggling with my family over something.
G: Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?
So I usually write start to finish. But not always, which would frustrate me a lot before I started treating my ideas as something that could stretch across a series of fics. That way I can write a single fic, start to finish, but in terms of its placement within the larger story, maybe it's way down in the timeline and the next fic I write could be at an earlier point. I still mostly tend to write the separate fics within a series in chronological order, but I'm a lot more comfortable writing things out of order than I used to. It doesn't lock me up or frustrate me which has definitely shown itself in how much I write and post these days.
Send me an ask about my writing :D
ok credits are rolling. i think i get why it's popular. it's popular because the main guys are bishies and probably madly in love with each other or something. i thought seifer was in this game but i guess he's in one of the other ones with the other hub city. ummm i dont know what that ending was about. sora and mickey sealed the door to darkness(?) and then kairi was there i guess? and then sora is in ??????????????????????land i suppose? i always do enjoy the trope of "antagonist is a pretty guy with obvious muscle and nice hair who turns into this big hulking mass of meat for the final boss while also monologuing about shit i dont care about" (see: um. vayne ffxii?). i also think that while simple and clean is a fine enough song the place they put it is so jarring like it's like. sad music because kairi and sora are separating then SIMPLE AND CLEAN SOMETHING SOMETHING. it really brought me out of the moment. but this game is good because you can fly and whenever a game lets me fly it's an automatically good game. i guess.
will i play kh2? is that the one with seifer in it? please let it be the one with seifer in it. but first i think i'm going to play a dragon quest game or something like that instead. or maybe fire emblem again. could always replay a fire emblem. i also want to play neotwewy but that's a problem for another day. for now... ummm. im going to go stew about kingdom hearts and then google some things. also why is pomp and circumstance playing during these credits. but anyway i need to play a game with an actually good camera system so i'll play something good instead
ALSO WHICH GAME IS IENZO IN? he's the hot doctor, right? i'll play that one too. anything for pretty fictional characters, also why was pluto only there right at the end? missed opportunity!
I'm not sure how ironic this is but my take in this case is: No not at all.
I do agree we need more good examples of male friendships that aren't toxic. A lot of shippers like to bring up stuff like buddy cop movies as examples of all the years we've gotten of platonic male frienships. Thing is though, with those films, the two male leads will often hate each other for 40% of the movie. Part of the appeal of those is generally that they're polar opposites that will conflict with each other. It's entertaining, but it's not a good examples to set as to what male frienships should look like. In an ideal world, we'd have a Rush Hour-esque film where one two male best friends, one queer, and one straight, help each other to save a queer man's lover. If they flesh out the love between the queer men, it'd stop the shippers dead in their tracks from shipping the leads, and it'd be an excuse to show positive male frienships. On to the more important topic, though.
I think in the specific case of SoRiku, it's important to point out that their relationship DOES start off as toxic. That's part of the point of their story. So realistically, if someone's argument is "men need non-toxic platonic representation" Sora and Riku aren't even an ideal example of that. A better example would be the two boys from Mighty Med or...Shit it's genuinely hard to come up with examples that aren't queer coded but you get the point.
There's also just all the romantic-coded stuff between them. The big scene in kh2 being Sora and Riku reuniting instead of Sora and Kairi or all three, the gayblade, riku going off to save a sleeping sora all fairytale style in ddd, Riku's tipping off point in one is him feeling like he and kairi were abandoned by Sora, Riku's would-be final thoughts in kh3 both in the dark world and in the keyblade graveyard being "Sora," Ienzo using Sora as a weakness against him in CoM, and so much more shit. You could do all that all platonically, but most writers wouldn't regardless of culture. Remember, these people are making a game that's to be shared internationally and they are using and paralleling American stories and tropes. They have multiple writers in that room at once. Did no one see the Sora and Riku reunion scene and go "western audiences might interpret that as romantic" (From what I can gauge, so did some eastern audiences). Did no one read that Riku was going to save a sleeping Sora as the climax for ddd and go "Huh, that's kind of like Snow White or Sleeping Beauty." You can also pull the "but they didn't mean it that way" card on literally anything so long as they never explicitly say "This is Riku, this is my boyfriend." There could be a scene where Sora and Riku make out and give each other head, and someone could be like "Oh but they meant that platoncially,' and would couldn't prove them wrong. Because theorhetically, you can make out with your friend and suck on 'em a little, but at what point are should we be willing to acknowledge the romantic undertones of a relationship?
It's not like KH goes out of its way to renforce some sort of heterosexual standard. Kairi is a thing, sure, but remember bisexuality is too. There's also the comphet interpretation (which I'm starting to subscribe less and less to but that's different conversation). Despite it's romantic parallels, there is not joke made between Sora and Riku where the audience is encouraged to laugh off this stuff. It's left ambigous enough to where the audience can interpret the character's feelings and read into the potential implications of the relationships. I'd argue that there are some plot points that encourage a queer reading, like Sora saying he doesn't understand love, or Riku being the one to go off and save Sora instead of Kairi, despite also being a key.
Also, in the end, it's just ship, bro. It's fiction of fiction. People should calm their titties, put that shit in a push-up.
Me *on the dance floor yelling over the loud club music to the stranger I just met*
I just wonder sometimes if shipping Sora and Riku as a gay couple is just furthering the idea that male friendships need to be dripping in toxic masculinity or they risk being written off as 'queer'
zexion demyx twister
Tumblr media
How did this happen. Did Demyx just go up to Zexion one day and go “hey do you want to play Twister with me” and Zexion went “yeah sure I have nothing better to do”. It’s literally just the two of them. Did they ask other people if they wanted to play and everyone said no?? Did they just set it up in The Gray Room and start playing Twister without explaining? Does Roxas even understand what they’re doing? Is he just accepting this as a fact of life?? And how the fuck did they get Xaldin to be the person manning the spinner. Zexion playing Twister already feels so surreal considering how no-nonsense-get-to-work he seems to be in the games but I can let it slide. But WHAT did they do to convince Xaldin to spin the wheel for them. What witchcraft did they pull. He looks so disgruntled- did they bribe him????? Do you understand why zexion demyx twister lives in my head rent free
okay new headcanons
Demyx’s chair is so low because he keeps almost falling out of it and he doesn’t want to die from fall damage
Vexen’s chair is the lowest not because he’s the worst but because he wanted to be as far away from Xigbar as possible
Axel and Marluxia’s chairs are as high as they are because they have big egos and bigger dick energy
oh oh oh so a bunch of the org members started incrementally increasing the height of their chairs in a sort of game of chicken to see how close they could get to Xemnas’s height. Demyx and Vexen are chickens as we already know and Zexion proclaimed that posturing your rank via meeting room chairs is stupid as hell and refused to take part in such tomfoolery (Lexaeus’s chair is low out of solidarity)
some of the heights are also arranged in such a way that they could glare at someone without making it too obvious by tilting their heads too much. like Saïx is in a perfect middling spot to give scathing looks to everyone across from him
