was thinking "hmm i wonder if there is a waifu service out there" and was reminded of this post. sigh...
i know there's threads on 4chan-esque sites and all for a "find a waifu/husbando" service but i wonder if tumblr has anything like that (thinking emoji)... i dont know. while i don't think tumblr has the right audience for that i think it would be cute to have a matchmaking service elsewhere where someone can submit what they want in a waifu/husbando and others would suggest characters that the person might like. i don't know!!!! idk.

tokimemo is so fun. i think i like the og series better compared to GS but you know which series has the english translations? the ones with the cute boys. so that's ok. i did kou's route in tmgs3 and it was very cute especially the christmas scene at the end of year 3... kyaa!!! niina is very cute also. i only met 4 of the boys in total (niina + fujiyama) so maybe if i pursue someone else I'll see who the others are...

the first one i played was the gba version but my favorite is the psp version because you can play all 3 ffiv games and i just think the DS version is kind of slow to play through but all ff4 is best ff4!
FFIV Week: First and Favorite Version
Because Final Fantasy IV has such a long history with so many different versions, I’d love to know:
What was the first version of FFIV you played?
Which is your favorite?
Reblog with your answer!

omg!!!
i am circle. definitely not Fandom Old but i first got introduced to FF in general through Dissidia 012 and... that is it!! i like my silly little ATB battles and the part where I can press buttons really good and I probably love The After Years more than the og game but that's okay. My favorite part in OG FFIV is the fight with the Demon Wall or maybe when Rosa is cured by the Magical Macguffin after her desert fever or maybe it's the part where Tellah enacts his revenge on Golbez to his demise or maybe it's Namingway and the entirety of his happenings in the 3D version of FFIV. Or maybe it's the part where kain finally joins the party permanently for sure for sure? or maybe it's the part where edward.... But it's definitely not the magnetic cave and I think that place sucks.
but i like ffiv and the fandom because I feel like I know everyone!! im not the sort of person that says hi to everyone but I see a name and I'm like oh!!! i know that person!!! and that makes me happy :)
FFIV Week 2024 - Introductions!
In honor of FFIV week, I wanted to get to know the fandom better! So please, reblog and introduce yourself, why you love FFIV so much, and anything else you want to share.
Mine under the cut!
I’ll start: I’m Jenny and I have a serious FFIV problem. It started when the original came out in 1991, and it was one of the very first RPGs I ever played (I’m a fandom oldie at 39!). As a kid, my cousins and I would act out scenes from the game. When AOL RP rooms became a thing when I was a teenager, I roleplayed Rosa for many years and met some wonderful friends whom I still talk to. I started writing fanfic when I was nineteen, took a several decades long break and then started writing again in the last two years. I was recently on a podcast discussing FFIV too!
I love FFIV so much because it taught me, very young, that heroes aren’t perfect – at least, the interesting heroes aren’t. Cecil is a very flawed protagonist who does horrible things, and somehow, despite how far he’s gone, can still find his redemption. This game also taught me about forgiveness and how it can be more for you than the person you’re forgiving.
I’m so beyond happy and touched to see the FFIV fandom alive and kicking on tumblr. I love all the meta discussions, artwork, stories, and all the wonderful and creative thoughts from all over the world.
This game is so special to me and I’m so glad I get to share it all with you. It's really beautiful to find people who love this game as much as I do.

i guess more thoughts on re: NT and also (S)NES FE hacking in general:
i like the gba games. i really do. but i like 1-5 in terms of gameplay more and i love playing interpretations on the games but it just feels like a lot of games port themselves to fe8 because gba romhacks are popular - and i get DS and onward would be difficult to overhaul just because there's a lot more to do versus the gba scene which has been cracked wide open for things outside of fire emblem romhacks (pokemon very obviously comes to mind, but things like the castlevania randomizers and QoL updates for FF Advance titles are still fun to play through)
but man i love the kaga era of fe so much. i feel like such a genwunner (or the fire emblem equivalent i guess) but man. and i just wish people did more things with these games instead of making things for fe8. or they should make more randomizers for games because i'd play the hell out of a fe11 randomizer if it went to the extent of the fe10 randomizer. but unfortunately i don't have the drive to make a version myself so c'est la vie

ok i finished it! here's ares' ending:
i'm not sure if that exp is right? there's an item that lets you delevel units and i just think that seems kind of high for 37 battles for some reason. anyway:
new theory is, like, okay. there's a whole boatload of new toys to play with, and i especially like easy-to-access bolting (and apparently there's a playable ballista but i never recruited them or promoted them if that was the case). standard thracia fuckery but there's an addition of branching promotions which, besides more stats and occasional skills and whatnot... it adds canto to many characters which is nice. mounted units were also able to use their mount indoors, save for the movement loss so just being on foot was better anyway. i think it's easier than normal thracia on account of the tools provided to you (but the enemy has shiny toys too so beware i spose) but there's a hard mode which... i'll probably play in the future to do the b route for this game and see the changes there.
reinhardt is recruitable. this is good information to know.
some of the recruits are just soo stupid though. spoilers by the way,
but i'm trying to recruit saias and apparently saffi has to be dead, so sure, i kill her off but saias basically says "lolno i don't feel like it" and warps away and i'm like ??? wtf did i do wrong. i also was supposed to get johalva and scathach, according to the guide (fred is dead and i captured olwen) but i didn't get them. lifis and shiva were also supposed to show up with saffi to recruit them later on instead of chapter 2, but they didn't show up either when it says on the guide that they come with saffi.
so besides the recruitment stuff that didn't happen, i did like the recruitment stuff that did happen - but it leads me to wonder wtf is the philosophy behind the names. ares is ares instead of "aless", and sure this makes sense, but fergus is "felgus" and seliph is "celice", and safy is "saffi" and maybe it's because i don't exactly know the history of the thracia and genealogy english patches but ????? i feel like the names are all over the place, but that's fine i guess. i prefer the translated names instead of the localized names anyway. for some of them i mean. but carrion is stupid and he'll always be callion to me amen
however i think you play thracia 776 for the gameplay. and the game does play - you can get a merlinus, and there's enough secret characters and whatnot to make your playthrough fresh and interesting instead of using fergus, asbel, safy, and your miscellaneous other favorites until endgame. the story was spiced up too i guess? maybe if the translation was better i'd enjoy it more. but the gameplay is good
i'm playing fire emblem: new theory of thracia 776
it's ok so far. i have gotten "new" "secret" characters a few chapters in and i'm rocking with having three whole thieves!!! i didn't go to 2x or 4x etc etc... and it is fun so far save for the fact my units keep dying. but that's fire emblem for you i spose
