THE FIRE WITHIN
chapter 1 (series masterlist)
Pairing: fire fighter Noah x female reader (Tess Monroe)
Warnings: 18+ MDNI! / fire / explosion / death /death of firefighters / description of dead fire fighters / complicated call / description of fire and explosion / being affected by the call / therapy / let me know of anything else!
Words: 3k
Author's note: Finally! I'm so excited for this! I know this chapter may come off as boring, because there's not really any interactiom between Noah and reader, but that will change in the one. I appreciate feedback in any form! Hope you like it♥️
Be aware you're reading this at your own decision, it contains sensitive topics, so please think twice before reading as I wouldn't want to cause anyone any discomfort while reading my work!
Hungry for action, determined to be the best. That’s how you could describe Lt. Noah Sebastian.
It was never his dream to be a firefighter, until he started the job. After high school, he didn’t have any direction in his life, until his buddy who joined the LA Fire department year earlier than Noah, told him about it.
Noah got into the academy, finished it as one of the best and got sent to a station 25.
He likes the life of a fire fighter. He works 24 hour shift, then has two days off. On those days off he usually goes to the gym, hangs out with his friends and then flirts with girls at his local bar. Because being a fire fighter is the ultimate pick up line, isn’t it.
If you’d ask his colleagues, they would say Noah is disciplined, but still a funny guy. He’s young, so he brings fresh air to the station. He’s full of jokes, making their shifts go by faster.
On calls he’s focused on the work that needs to be done. He follows orders, does his job properly and leaves every shift with gratitude that he can come home alive.
Noah lives alone in two room apartment just 20 minute drive from the station. His house is small, but it’s nice. He’s not big on decorations and stuff, but it’s cosy and home for him. He has made the bigger room into kitchen and living room area, the smaller one into his bedroom.
Noah drives black Range rover that he’s very proud and careful of, because he bought that car himself. His upbringing wasn’t bad, but not perfect. He’s an only child. His parents lived in LA long before he was born, but few years ago they decided to move somewhere more quiet. Noah stayed in his hometown with some money from his parents to take care of himself, he used the money to buy his apartment and then had to make money for himself. He bought the car with his and only his money and that’s why he’s so proud about getting it. His mom texts him like once a week to see if he’s doing okay and he calls his dad once a month to catch up on life, but that’s it. He's grateful for everything they’ve done for him but feels pretty much alone now.
So he really appreciates the fire department and guys on his shift, because they feel like a family. They joke together, play games or do make friendly pranks against each other, but when they’re on a call they know they have each other’s backs. They trust each other, because without trust you can’t do this job properly. So when they start doubting Noah’s trust on calls, that’s when things start to get a bit uncomfortable.
“Man I hope we can get more than 5 minutes of sleep.” Nick said when him and Noah entered their bunk.
“Don’t say shit like this or the exact opposite is gonna happen.”
“I hope not, I need to sleep.”
Nick is Noah’s best friend who got him into this job. They didn’t start at the same station, but Nick got sent to 25 just a few months ago.
Noah had to agree that tonight’s shift was a busy one. They had two car accidents, one house fire and two false alarms behind them. With only 5 more hours of their shift remaining, Nick and Noah laid in their beds and fell asleep from exhaustion. Little did they know the shift was not going to be over in 5 hours.
Just an hour of sleep later Noah, Nick and the rest of the shift were woken up by the alarm and announcement “Ladder 25, Engine 25, Aid car 25. Structure fire reported at Hoover street. Heavy fire and smoke visible on arrival. Possible hazardous materials on site. Evacuation in progress. Multiple alarms requested.”
“Fuck.” Nick was first to react as him and Noah made their way down to get into their vehicles and leave the station.
“Sounds big.” Noah responded before he started with his gear, putting it on, making sure he has everything he needs on him and then jumping in the back of big vehicle with “Ladder 25” on its side.
As they were approaching the site, they could already see and smell the smoke from streets away. Blue and red lights already at the place, the number of fire cars on site signalizing that it was a big call.
Everyone got to their job immediately, taking in captain’s orders.
Noah’s job on this call was to go inside and extinguish the fires on his way to the fire centre. One rule they always follow: fire fighter is never alone, they work in pairs. Noah’s colleague followed closely behind him as they run into the building.
Others were already running out to get a new oxygen tanks or with workers from the factory in their arms. When they entered the building, Noah already felt something was off. He couldn’t tell what, but something wasn’t right.
They followed instructions on where to go, extinguishing small fires along the way until they reached the big hall where they couldn’t see the other end, because of the smoke and fire.
“Fuck, this bitch is big.” Noah heard his mate and had to agree. He hadn’t seen fire like this before.
“Sebastian to Captain 25. Starting the attack now, requesting additional units. The fire’s big. Copy.” Noah said through his radio to update his captain who was outside giving orders.
They immediately started what they call “the attack” and tried to contain as much fire as possible. He saw Nick along with another Lieutenant run inside and start the same thing.
“Our tanks are running out Noah, we need to leave soon.” Noah just nodded his head and heard the familiar beeping of their tanks when they start to run out of oxygen.
They turned around and started running towards the exit. Once they were outside, they went to get a new tank and update the commander on the situation outside.
The fire didn’t seem to get any smaller when the two of them returned back inside and started the attack again. To Noah it felt like eternity. He was looking into the fire with hose in his hands, trying to find the source like if he could aim the hose at one particular spot and the fire would be over.
Noah’s concentration was interrupted by voice in his radio “Command to all units, there are gas tanks hidden under the main hall. Everyone get out. This is a high risk situation, I repeat evacuate, evacuate, evacute!”
That was the last thing Noah heard before loud explosion went off at the other side of the hall. He saw the fire lit up the whole way to the ceiling, the smoke extended and even through his mask he could smell the gasoline.
When the tanks blew up, the explosion was strong enough to lift fire fighters from the ground and threw them metres away from where they were standing. Noah only felt the ground vibrate and moved few steps back, but what he saw he will never forget.
For a moment after the explosion it was like if everything around him stopped, before going fully into motion again. Some of the guys stayed laying on the floor, some were moving and yelling from the pain and then guys like Noah, who were still capable of doing their job, ran to help those who couldn’t leave that hall on their own.
But not Noah. Noah stood still at the same place and watched everything happen in front of him. He saw the panic in everyone’s eyes. He saw Nick lifting another man in full gear and run towards the exit. He saw others checking pulses of those who were laying still and move to another when they realised the pulse was not there. He saw someone was talking to him, but he couldn’t hear anything.
He saw one of the older guys at his station laying on the ground, not moving. He saw his face, lifeless. It was like Noah was watching the worst they were warned about and trained to handle those situations. But all he could do was stand there and not move.
He was literally facing death in front of him and that was scary as fuck.
He felt someone’s hand grab his arm and drag him away from the spot he was standing at. He realised that the someone was leading a way out for them both, he knew he was alive, but didn’t feel like that.
When they reached the outside the panic didn’t stop, in fact the lights and ambulances and blood and bodies and injuries were even more chaotic than the scene inside.
Someone sat him on the ground and took his mask and helmet off and immediately got him on oxygen. Noah was like a robot, just nodding his head “yes” or “no” when asked questions, his eyes still following the chaos that went on.
It was like a switch inside his body when he realised he didn’t do anything to help inside. He stood up and tried to put his full gear on saying “I need to help them.” and They’re still inside I need to get them.”
It took three people to stop him from running inside and it took one look at Nick who was sitting in an ambulance with a mask on his mouth that made Noah break down.
He fell to his knees and started crying. He felt overwhelmed by everything and everyone, he tried to protect his ears with his hands, but it still couldn’t stop the noise.
Nick saw his best friend and gathered all of his strength to get up and walk to him. Nick was fine, just smoke inhalation, but one look at him in that ambulance and thoughts of what could have happen to him just broke Noah.
“Hey Noah, it’s me.” Nick said when he knelt next to Noah and put his arm around him. “Just breathe, we’re okay.”
Nick continued to talk Noah through his break down and then helped him inside the same ambulance he was just a minutes ago to get checked up.
The fire was extinguished from inside by additional units, everyone who needed medical help was transferred to the hospital and coroner took care of bodies who lost their lifes as heroes on that call.
When Noah and his crew made it back to station it was already 3 hours after their shift ended. Crisis briefing was ordered at the beginning of their next shift.
Noah didn’t waste time with shower or changing into clean clothes, he started his car and took off.
---
When he came home he threw his bag on the floor and immediately went for the shower. He stood still under the shower for good 20 minutes before he broke down again.
It wasn’t that he didn’t know those calls can happen, he just never really thought it would happen to him and his station. He wished he’d never come across death, but that’s impossible with his job.
He leaned his head on the shower wall and just let his emotions out.
He didn’t go to gym or reach out to anyone, he stayed in bed until it was time to go back to work again.
---
“Good morning everyone, thank you for coming today.” you said as you started the briefing at Station 25. You had the whole shift in the conference room sitting around big table. “My name is Theresa, but you can call me Tess. I’m therapist for the fire department and today I’ll lead this sitting. This here is my colleague, John.” you introduced yourself and John as positively as it was possible in that situation.
“We know things like this are not comfortable for everyone, so we’re not going to push anyone today. But it’s important to go over what happened and come to a conclusion you did everything you could.” John started the speech and you scanned the men sitting in front of you. Some of them were looking fine, mostly the older ones who have been through similar stuff before.
Your eyes couldn’t miss Noah. He was beautiful, you thought, until his eyes met yours. It was just for a second, because he moved his gaze to the ground, but even the second was all you needed to know that he was for sure not okay. He had dark circles under his eyes, so he probably didn’t sleep much since the call. His eyes screamed “tired” at you and his whole appearance just gave him away. But it wasn’t just him, few more guys seemed to have the same feelings like Noah did.
“I heard you lost your colleagues that night. I’m sorry, that is always the hardest part.” you saw wave of emotions go though the room after you said that. “How about we start with how was the shift before the last call. Anyone wants to tell me?”
There was a moment of silence, but one of the older guys broke it. “It was shit of day honestly. It was busy shift for all of us, I think I can speak for everyone that when we went to sleep before the last call we just really wished that the sleep is gonna be at least until the end of the shift.” and you saw few of them nod their heads in agreement, which was great start.
“Oh really? What were your other calls?” you asked.
Another man started talking “Just a regular calls I’d say, car accidents, but nothing serious. Then two false alarms which is always annoying, but one of them was in school, so we at least had some fun with the kids.”
As you and John navigated the discussion towards the last call, you noticed Noah and two other guys were not really present. When everyone was nodding or laughing along, they didn’t. But you knew those reactions are okay too, everyone handles their emotions differently.
When John finally asked about the call the mood in the room shifted, but everyone was still talking with you and John.
“It was horrible. I was not even inside when the explosion happened, but hearing it outside and not knowing what’s going on was scary.” was the first confession of feelings and then it was easier for everyone else to speak up.
“I saw him fly like two metres above the ground before he fell. I knew he’s not gonna make it when I saw his body on the ground. I didn’t want to go check on him, but I had to.” guy with a mustache talked about seeing one of his colleagues lose his life.
Those sessions don’t have particular time stop, unless there’s nothing more to talk about, you’re leading the discussion.
At the end you always ask everyone to promise you they don’t have anything else they need to talk about and that they know they did everything they could. Everyone always does, but you know not everyone means it. Just like you know Noah didn’t mean a single letter when he muttered ‘I’m okay.’ in the end.
“Captain I think it was mostly successful briefing, but keep an eye on them. You can call me or John anytime you need us.” you shook your hand with the captain and made your way to your car.
Before you left the station, you saw Noah cleaning the front of their Ladder and took that as a chance to speak to him.
“Hi. You don’t have to tell me anything, I know everyone handles their emotions differently. But I can see that you’re tired and maybe overwhelmed by the situation. Don’t be scared to reach out if you need.”
“Yeah whatever.” was Noah’s answer, but he still took your card and put it in his pocket.
------
But since the tragic call Noah couldn’t get back on track at the job. He felt better, but still not good enough to give his job 100%.
“That’s enough Sebastian. You’re going to see the department’s therapist or you’re on desk duty.”
“What?” Noah faced his captain next to the vehicle they just used to extinguish small garden fire.
“You’re not yourself since the call Noah, you need help.” Captain said as gentle as possible. He didn’t blame Noah for being affected by the call, but it was dangerous for him and for his crew.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, I don’t need any help.”
“You yelled at a kid today Noah.”
“But that was for his own safety.”
“Really? Didn’t have to anything with the gas bomb they had close to the fire? Or what about last week’s call to the clothes factory when you demanded to know if they have any gas or another explosive things in there? Or week before that when you went for safety check up and yelled at a woman for not having a fire system installed?”
Noah didn’t have any answer, because he knew all of his reactions were because he became extremely nervous after that call. He always hated when people didn’t think about their safety enough, but he never yelled at someone because of it.
“I want you to see a therapist or you’ll sit behind the desk. I want the first session this week and I want a paper that says you’re able to do the job while going to therapy. We’re short on people Noah I don’t want you to sit behind a desk and wait for months to have your papers signed, so please, help both you and me and do something.”
----
When Noah came home after that shift, he grabbed the small paper that was on his table since the briefing and texted you “Hi, are you free this week for a therapy?”

Stronger || Logan Howlett x Reader
summary: after failing your last mission you start to over train yourself in secret but Logan notices the bruises and cuts and wont leave you alone about it.
warnings: angst to fluff, patching up fic, the reader is very hard on themselves, injury, blood, insecurity, sweet logan, reader pushes themself too much.
a/n: I had this idea at like 1:30am last night and I wrote it when i woke up oops. I just love fluffy patching up logan fics what can I say.
There it is again. Logan's nose twitches as you walk by. You smell like dirt and sweat but most of all blood. He locks eyes with you as you walk past the kitchen door.
Theres a limp in your step. It's subtle but there. You're wearing long pants and long sleeves despite it being hot outside and you're hiding your hands in your pockets. There's bags under your eyes and the smiles you give people aren't real.
Logan narrows his eyes at you and you look at the ground. Hurrying away from his pointed gaze. He wants to go after you but he hears your door slam and lock.
No one else has picked up on this except for him. He brings it up in passing but he's brushed off every time. Something is up with you and he's going to figure out what.
You sigh as you lean against your door. Your body aches like crazy and all you want to do is collapse onto the bed and sleep. But you force yourself to the bathroom. You need to scrub off all the evidence of everything from the night before. The blood and grime washed off but the bruises stayed.
"Damn." You mumbled as you took in the injuries from this time.
The person displayed in the mirror looked like a stranger. Your eyes were sunken, bruises on your body, you looked tired and felt worse. But you had to keep going. You needed to be strong, to prove yourself and this was the only way.
At least that's what you think. You crawl into bed and pass out the moment your head hits the pillows. Unfortunately the nightmares start then too.
You're back on your last mission. The whole reason you've been pushing yourself so hard. You were weak, lost, a burden to the team. You weren't like everyone else at the mansion. You didn't come here as a kid.
In fact you were well into your adult life when Professor Xavier found you. You had no training, no experience. You got stuck into classes with kids who had already mastered their powers. You felt silly, a fool to think you could be apart of this world. You didn't belong.
So when you got the chance to go on a mission you were excited. It means they thought you were ready, that you had something in you that could help.
The mission went terribly. You were overwhelmed and could barely keep up. Tackled to the ground you cried out in pain. A sharp blade against your neck caused you to freeze. You tried to conjure your energy blasts but a foot on your wrist stopped you. It was digging into you, crushing you. You closed your eyes as you braced yourself for what was to come.
It never does.
The pressure is released all at once as Logan tackled the man who was on you. Digging his claws into him until he's limp on the ground. He runs to you, checking you injuries. You couldn't speak. You couldn't warn Logan that someone else was coming. Then it all goes black. You're too late.
You sit up, Logan's name on the tip of your tongue as you wake up. Fuck. You take in your surroundings and try to calm down. Slowly sinking back into your bed. Reminding yourself that everything fine.
That the last mission didn't really end that way. Logan is okay, you're okay. But what if things had played out different.
If you could have held your own then Logan wouldn't have had to come to your rescue. He carried you back to the jet and while everyone was nice, you knew that you disappointed them.
You haven't been asked to go on a mission since. It hurt, you wanted to go. To be apart of the team. So you took it upon yourself to train. Your powers were trained in lessons with the professor but he never lets you go past a certain limit. So instead you decided to sneak out at night to the nearby forest and train there.
Honing not only your powers but your hand to hand combat as well. Trees were your only partners but it worked. They were strong and sturdy. Every night you'd sneak out. Practice with your powers which drained you and then practiced everything else after. It left you bloody and bruised but in your mind it was worth it.
Glancing at the clock you see that you've slept through most of the day. The sun had already set. Quietly you get dressed and sneak down the hallways. Most everyone was already in bed and if they weren't they were socializing in the living room. All you had to do was sneak by and you were home free for the night.
Laughter is the perfect distraction as you sneak past the doorway. Opening the door slowly and sneaking outside, running to the safety of the woods. What you don't notice is someone following you.
Logan caught your scent the second you stepped out of your room. Whether he wants to admit it or not he's always searching for you. He smelled your shampoo wafting past the door and eyed you outside. You were quick but he could still see you. Enough of this. Whatever the hell you were doing was killing you. Slowly but surely it was ruining you physically and mentally. He slipped away from the rest of the people in the living room and followed you.
As he got deeper in the woods he became worried, just what could you be doing out here? His ears perk up as he hears you. Peaking through the trees he finds you in a small clearing. You were clearly exhausted but you kept pushing. Creating energy from your finger tips and blasting them at a tall redwood.
Logan smells the blood that trickled from your nose. You were pushing yourself too hard. He's about to reveal himself when the loud creaking of a branch stops him.
You were too wrapped up in conjuring another blast that you don't notice a large tree branch cracking from the force of your powers. Logan springs in to action.
"Watch out!" He growls as he launches himself at you. Grabbing your body and wrapping himself around you the best he can. The branch falls right onto his back. It snaps in two as it falls to either side of you.
"Logan?! What are you doing here?" You ask as you stare at the fallen branch. Kicking yourself for not noticing it fast enough forcing Logan to put himself in danger for you again.
"What am I doing here? What the fuck are you doing out here?" He yells as he lets you go. Taking in just how bad you looked.
"What the hell is wrong with you? What if I wasn't here? What if that branch fell and hit you and no one would know that you were bleeding out in the fucking woods!" Logan snarls. His fear and worry being masked by anger. How could you be so reckless? So stupid?
"I didn't ask you to fucking follow me!" You bite back. Shame creeping up as he scolds you. Logan scoffs and grabs your face firmly.
"Do you even see yourself right now?" He grabs your wrist and holds it up. Staring at your bloody knuckles. It fucking hurts. It hurts for him to see you like this and it hurts him that you were doing this to yourself.
“You're tearing yourself apart, why?" The anger starts to fade, his real feelings breaking through.
"Because I'm weak." You admit, your voice cracking as the adrenaline starts to drain. Instead being replaced but complete and utter exhaustion.
"What?" Logan asks in disbelief.
"I failed the last mission, I could have gotten you hurt, I was a liability. If I got stronger, If I was better."
"Stop. Just stop. You really think all that?" Logan has let go of you by now, his eyes are looking at all your bruises. All the damage you've done to yourself.
"You don't?" You ask, afraid of his answer.
He doesn't say a word. Instead he takes your holds your hand, you try to ignore the butterflies growing in your stomach as he leads you back to the mansion. Taking you up to his room where he pulls out a first aid kit.
He doesn't need one but every room has one, of course you had already used up all of yours. Silently he patches you up, wrapping your knuckles in bandages and wiping up the blood from your nose.
"If you wanted train you could have come to one of us, to me." He should have noticed sooner, said something. Stopped you from doing this to yourself.
"I thought I had to do it on my own."
"You don't. It took me a while to figure it out too but you don't." He would be a hypocrite to scold you for going off alone but he doesn't really care.
"I'm sorry." You mumble. Logan cups your face and to your shock kisses your forehead gently.
"Don't ever do this again do you hear me." Logan can help you, he can protect you.
"I won't." You promise him. He smiles and picks you up.
"Logan!" You yelp as he drops you into his bed.
It smells just like him and you can't deny the instant comfort that comes over you as you snuggle into his sheets.
"You're going to rest for the next week. Anything you need you just call alright?"
"But what-" He stares at you and you stop talking, he wasn't fucking around about this.
"When you're healed and rested. Then we can train together." He doesn't leave room for argument, not that you wanted to argue with him anyways but still.
"Thank you Logan...You didn't have to do this."
He could have turned his head, pretended he never saw anything. Its what you expected him to do if you were being honest. But he didn't. He saw you struggling, pushing yourself and he couldn't let you hurt yourself any longer. He cared about you, a lot.
"I know." He says simply.
"Will you stay, while I sleep. I've been getting these nightmares and well..." Logan nods his head.
He shuts off the lights and crawls into bed with you. Kind of, more like he's half hanging off the edge of the bed. But you're comfortable and that's good enough for him.
It doesn't take long for you to fall asleep. The comforting aura of Logan was enough. He hums as you curl closer to him. Logan chasing away any nightmares that threaten to hurt you and for the first time in a while your dreams are quiet.
A smile on your face as peace finally overcomes your dreams.

Damian Wayne x Child! Reader (Part 1) - This won't do —☆
Synopsis: after seeing the state of your apartment Damian pulls some strings and changes your life on step at a time.
Masterlist , Pillager Of Art
"Are your parents attending the pta meeting?" Damian asks.
After seeing the wretched state your house was in Damian chose to stand at the door.
The moldy yellow floor of your apart was covered in dirt and whatever substances you managed track back into the house. The walls in the same sorry state with a moldy yellow wallpaper that was covered in nasty cracks and stains that could never be removed.
The tiles of your flooring were covered in a bottomless pit of clothes and whatever else was in that pile. Your window didn't show some immaculate view of Gotham City instead it was closed off with would. Glass shards left on the floor in front of the window after a stray bullet was shot through your window.
"Oh my Dad, he's not coming" you say as you make your way towards your kitchen.
Damian couldn't bare looking into the kitchen to see what mess was made in their so he chose to stair the ceiling instead.
"Why not?" He tilts his head to the side, he was told by Alfred that events like these were the only way to see how your child was progressing and apparently it was mandatory for parents to attend so why weren't your coming?
"Oh, my parents are dead" you said as if It didn't bother you and it didn't.
Your mother had sadly passed away during child birth.
Your dad tho...
He was a piece of work, never cared for your well-being AT ALL. You basically raised yourself in this house. The only reason you hadn't starved yet was because your father left food in the cupboard for you to use (mostly unhealthy cheap food).
You barely ever saw your dad and when he died you hadn't even noticed, not like he ever came home anyway. The only way you knew was when the news broadcast came on and you saw a blurred out image of a man that vaguely resembled your father.
There were several gunshot holes scattered around the figures body and by the looks of it he was probably just getting off of work before the death occurred.
The situation never bothered you, having no adults around was a blessing if anything.
"My parents can't come but I'll wait with you until your dad does" you replied and gasped when you found what you were looking for.
"Dami you have to try one" you turned to him with a cup of ramen noodles in hand.
"No thank you, aren't there other options?" he asked as he began to list off foods he'd already eaten before.
Safe to say, you hadn't even know those foods existed or eaten anything that wasn't microwavable.
This wouldn't do.
When he left your house that evening he made it his mission to find a way to get you out of that situation.
And that he did, when the day of the PTA meeting arrives Damian is oddly quiet. Not as if he talked much anyway.
While you both waited for his dad to finish speaking with the teachers he'd a held a tight grip on your hand as if to silently tell you not to run off anywhere.
"Dami I still don't know why you told me to bring all my stuff with me, are we having a sleepover?" You asked, you were told to bring all necessities which means that you needed your tooth brush and whatever you could salvage from that mess of a house.
"You'll know when we get there" he said calmly which only made your excitement grown even more. He was already pretty used to your energetic behavior so this was nothing.
At last the meeting had finished and you were all exiting he building.
"Is this the friend you told me about Damian" his father spoke up only to receive a nod in return.
You had never noticed how eerily similar they look but now that you were stood right before him you realized noticed the shared features.
"(Reader) right" Bruce got down in one knee so he could speak to you at eye level. Now, extending invitations to join the family weren't an everyday occurrence but if his son was so hard pressed on your living conditions and even brought up good points as to why you can't live there.
Plus he knew you were a good kid.
"A little Birdy informed me of your living conditions and they wanted me to extend an exciting offer to you" he spoke to you in a way that made your excitement peak.
You were so excited that you hadn't even noticed when you got in the car or when you arrived at the manor or when you arrived at Damian's bedroom door.
For you everything went by quickly, so quickly that when you woke up the next morning you couldn't even remember why you were in Damian's house or why you were currently bundled up across from his sleeping face.
He must've bundled you up while you were asleep. He was always considerate but rarely ever showed you that side of him.
"Dami, I need to go home" you said groggily.
"Your not going anywhere" he instantly replied.
"But I can't stay here forever, I need to go home" you said in a worried tone but he only raised a brow.
"I knew you weren't listening" he sighed.
"Just go back to sleep" he waved his hand in front if your face which seemed to do the trick because you were knocked out within seconds.
And just like that you were silently adopted into the family.

She didn’t know if she should have been happy about how her marriage with him has changed.
She always woke up sore, tired, and had trouble walking.
Aemond was still a ghost during the day.
Not at night.
She screamed as she leaned forward on the bed, making him slip out.
She was panting and sobbing, her face pressed against the mattress, her knees bent at the end of the bed. He was standing behind her, panting as well.
He growled and grabbed her hips, pushing her back, but she whined and got up on all four and tried to crawl away.
“Get back here.” He snarled, grabbing her ankle and pulling her right back. She quickly got back on her knees, but before she could try to move again, he grabbed her by the back of her neck and pressed her face back on the mattress.
You whined loudly as he pushed right back into you, his cock filling you up again, the pleasure was mixed with pain and overstimulation.
“I’m gonna keep you here until your cunt will be able to make me come.” He panted as he resumed his thrusts, hard and deep, picking up the pace in short time.
You screamed against the mattress, the sound muffled by it, as you clenched your hands on the covers.
“Fucking come!” You moaned as you felt another orgasm threatening to wash over you. You didn’t know if you were going to be able to take it, again.
“If you'd shut up, maybe I will.” He slapped your ass as he scolded you, grabbing your hips again and starting to thrust harder, faster, the sound of skin slapping loud in your bedroom.
You scrambled on the mattress again as your hands clenched harder around the blankets.
You tried to clench around him, trying to make him come before you could reach another orgasm, and when you felt him moan you finally knew he was really close.
You tried to clench again, trying to hold back your orgasm, but it was hard with the way he was merciless pounding into you like you were a fuckdoll.
He moaned again and let go of one of your hips.
“You’re gonna come first.” He grunted, you didn’t need to turn around, you knew he was smirking. You groaned loudly and your back arched as his fingers brushed against your clit, and that was all you needed to come again.
Your walls clenched hard around him as your fluids covered his cock, again, getting even more wetter.
He thrusted a few more times, then, he pushed all the way in and stayed there as he came too with a low moan.
You let out a sound of relief as he pulled out, and collapsed on your bed as he walked out of your room to get on his own.
So the last thing she expected as she prepared lunch, was for him to come out in the office to join her in the kitchen.
“I have an event tonight.” He said as he leaned against the doorframe, crossing his arms as he looked at her. “And you’re coming with me.”
She turned and looked at him, raising one of her eyebrows.
“Dress, shoes, hair and makeup.” She turned to look at him. “None of those are prepared for an event.”
Aemond rolled his eye and scoffed.
“Dress and shoes are in your room, I already bought them. Makeup and hair whatever, you’ll look good anyway. Be ready at six.” He pushed himself off the doorframe and walked closer, inspecting the pans on the stove.
“Bring me a plate when you’re done. I’m in my office.” Said that, he walked away.
She gritted her teeth in annoyance.
It might have sounded like a compliment, but to her, it only felt like another confirmation that he didn’t care about her.
She stared at the spot where Aemond had stood, her hand gripping the wooden spoon a little too tightly.
He didn't even ask if she wanted to go.
Her frustration simmered as she returned to stirring the sauce. She hated the way he treated her, as though she was just another accessory in his life.
She glanced toward her bedroom, the thought of the dress he'd already picked out for her prickling at her pride.
Not even the decency to let me choose that.
With a sigh, she finished preparing lunch and plated his portion, setting it on a tray. She stared at the plate for a moment, her irritation flaring once more, before taking a deep breath. Confronting him wasn’t going to do anything but start another argument. She wasn’t in the mood to battle with him, not today.
Carrying the tray to his office, she knocked gently before entering. Aemond sat behind his desk, his eye glued to his computer screen as he typed rapidly. He barely glanced up when she set the plate in front of him.
"Thanks." He muttered, his tone neutral, devoid of any real appreciation.
She stopped but didn’t turn around, after a moment she resumed walking out and closed the door behind her with a little more force than necessary.
Back in her room, she found the dress laid out on her bed. It was stunning, she had to admit that much. Midnight blue silk, with a sleek silhouette that promised to hug her body in all the right places. The shoes, a pair of delicate, strappy heels, matched perfectly. It was clear Aemond had spared no expense, but that only made her feel more like a decorative piece for him to show off.
She sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the dress. A part of her wanted to rebel, to refuse to go, to show him that he couldn’t just control her like this.
With a sigh, she stood up and headed to the bathroom. She’d go to the event. She’d wear the dress and the shoes he’d picked, and she’d play the role he expected her to. But that didn’t mean she had to enjoy it.
She walked down the stairs, ready, and she found Aemond dressed in a suit, his head bent down as he looked at his phone.
She sighed and quickly reached him.
“I’m ready.” She said dispassionately. “Let’s go.” Aemond raised his head to scan her body, and hummed with a single nod.
She clenched her jaw at his disinterest, and followed him as he opened the door, walking straight to his car.
They drove in silence, the tension thick between them. Aemond kept his eyes on the road, one hand casually resting on the steering wheel, the other tapping idly against the gear shift. She stared out the window, watching the city blur past, the weight of her resentment pressing heavily on her chest. She couldn’t shake the feeling that, for him, she was just another checkbox on his list for the evening, a trophy to flaunt at his side.
The event was at a luxurious venue downtown, a large gala hall lined with sleek black cars and finely dressed people. Aemond pulled into the valet station, and the car stopped. Without a word, he got out, tossing the keys to the valet before making his way around to open her door. His hand extended toward her as she stepped out of the car, his touch cold and formal.
“Stay close." He murmured as they entered the hall. She nodded, though it wasn’t as if she had much of a choice.
Inside, the room was filled with the elite, men in tailored suits and women in shimmering gowns, mingling beneath chandeliers that sparkled like stars. The air buzzed with the soft hum of conversation and the clinking of glasses.
As they moved through the crowd, Aemond’s grip on her arm tightened slightly, a signal to stay at his side. He greeted people with ease, his voice smooth, his expression composed. She remained silent, smiling politely as introductions were made, her mind drifting in and out of the conversations around her.
Time passed slowly, she had to pull out one fake smile after the other, trying to make small talk with the wifes as Aemond spoke with the husbands. The way he spoke to others with charm and ease was a sharp contrast to the way he treated her. Here, in this world of polished surfaces and false smiles, he was the perfect gentleman.
As they moved toward a quiet corner, Aemond turned to her, his eye scanning the room. “You’re doing fine." He said, as though it were a performance she had to perfect. There was no warmth, no genuine praise, just the acknowledgment that she was fulfilling her role.
She bit her tongue, swallowing the retort that threatened to spill from her lips. Instead, she took a slow breath and looked away, grabbing another glass of champagne.
She was surprised when she saw Aemond walk away from her, this time without dragging her with him.
She watched as approached a woman, a beautiful woman. He took her hand and kissed it, he talked closely to her, too close.
Did he forget he is married?!
She clenched her jaw tightly as she shot the rest of the champagne in the glass.
As the night dragged on, the crowd thickened, and Aemond became more engrossed in his conversations. She found herself drifting to the edges of the room, standing by the bar, always with a glass of champagne in hand as she kept looking at Aemond and that woman. The laughter and chatter around her felt distant, like a world she didn’t belong to.
And she hated it.
He didn’t even introduce her to the woman. All the husbands had to see his precious, younger, beautiful wife, but not her.
The warmth of the champagne fizzed in her chest, but it couldn’t dispel the cold knot of jealousy twisting in her stomach. She forced herself to look away, taking a deep breath to calm the rising tide of emotions. Aemond’s laughter echoed across the room, too bright, too carefree. She felt like a stranger in her own life, watching him charm this woman who was clearly enamored by him.
Another glass of champagne appeared before her, and she took it without thinking. It was easier to drown her frustration in alcohol than to confront the feelings swirling within her. As the bubbly liquid slid down her throat, she scanned the room for anything to distract herself. The crowd was a blur of elegance and sophistication, all laughing and mingling as if the world outside didn’t exist.
But here she was, standing alone, feeling like a ghost haunting her own marriage.
Without thinking, she moved closer, wanting to hear what they were saying. Aemond leaned in closer to the woman, his voice low and intimate. “You should join us for dinner next week. I’m sure my wife wouldn’t mind.” He said.
The words hit her like a slap. A wife who was just a footnote in his conversation, a mere afterthought. The woman laughed, a light, airy sound that felt like daggers to her heart. She couldn’t stand it anymore.
“Excuse me.” she interjected, her voice sharper than she intended.
Both Aemond and the woman turned to her. The playful atmosphere of their conversation evaporated instantly, replaced by a taut silence.
“Someone wants to talk to you.” She said, her voice steady, though her insides churned. She met Aemond’s gaze, and she saw a flicker of hate on his face.
“I just have to finish with Floris.” He replied, an edge creeping into his tone.
Floris.
“They seemed impatient.” She lied, not wanting to admit how deeply his interaction with the woman had affected her.
Aemond’s expression shifted, a mix of annoyance and anger. “Fine.” He narrowed his eye, as if he perfectly knew that she was lying.
Floris cleared her throat, taking a step back as the tension between them grew palpable.
“Talk to you later, Floris.” He nodded at her and grabbed his wife’s arm, dragging her along with him as she gave Floris a spiteful smile from behind her shoulder.
He pulled her outside, in a quiet spot in the garden, turning her forcely to look at him.
“What the hell was that about?” Aemond’s voice cut through her, his tone filled with anger.
“What was about what?” She replied, feigning to not know what he was talking about crossing her arms defensively. “Can’t I have my husband all for myself? This is one of the rare moments you talk to me, after all.” She rolled her eyes as she spoke the last phrase. Aemond gritted in teeth, the struggle to contain his anger was clear in his face.
“Is it your empty cunt that is talking?” He hissed as he took a step closer. “Or just some basic, pathetic jealousy?” Aemond smirked cruelly as he looked down at her. “I wasn’t flirting with her,” He scoffed, his voice low but firm. “She’s just a colleague. It was nothing.”He sighed as he looked down at her with a hard glare. “This is how it works. I have to network, to meet people in this world, and sometimes it looks more personal than it is.”
“Yeah, it was obvious how personal you wanted it to be.” She clenched her jaw as she narrowed her eyes.
“Shut the fuck up.” He growled. “You were the one who kissed another guy right in front of me just a few weeks ago.” He hissed as he took a step closer, towering over her. “So just be a good wife, and smile.” He passed his hands through his hair. “Don’t make me angry.”
She clenched her jaw tighter. She didn’t want to be a stupid doll by his side. She was tired of all this, tired of faking so much. She was tired of pretending she wasn’t stuck in this marriage.
“No.” She hissed. “I’m going home.” She turned her heels and started striding away, but she didn’t manage to get far, Aemond grabbed her arm again and started dragging her to a nearby building, a hotel, probably the owners of the venue where the event kept going.
He walked in with her and stopped in front of the receptionist.
“One room, king bed, one night.” He said as he pulled out his wallet. The receptionist glanced between them with a smile, then she quickly gave the number of the room and the key.
Without much more words, Aemond strode towards the elevator, grabbing her hand tightly.
She stood awkwardly beside him as he pushed the button for the floor, and watched the display with the numbers changing, his hands in his pocket.
He almost seemed calm, peaceful.
She was in trouble.
As soon as the doors opened, Aemond shoved her outside the elevator, then in the hotel room as soon as he opened.
She stumbled inside, glaring back at him as she stepped back, putting some distance between them.
“No?” He snarled. “No?” He quickly stepped closer, grabbing a handful of her hair,. “Who the fuck do you think you are, mh?” He tugged downward by her hair, forcing her to bend her knees. “Get, On your knees.” He growled as she pushed her down completely, until she was forced to kneel.
He looked down at her, his gaze dark and angry.
“My sweet, little wife wants my attention?” He mocked her. “Because she is jealous of a colleague?” He almost laughed. He took off his belt, and unbuttoned his pants.
As she looked down, she could see that he was already getting hard.
“You have my attention now.” He said, an amused, sadistic grin on his face. “And I am going to give it all to you, wife.” He pulled down his pants and boxers just enough to let his cock spring free from its confines, the tip only inches from her face.
It was the first time she got to see it clearly. She had stolen glances from time to time when he walked naked in her room, but because of the darkness or because he didn’t give her time to, she never really saw how beautiful and big it was.
“Come on, suck it.” He wrapped his hand around his thick, long cock and pushed the head against her mouth.
Oh, hell no.
She glared up at him, keeping her lips pressed together, and he growled at her defiance. He tilted her head back and bent down.
“I’ll force it down your throat.” He threatened.
“How, if you can’t even get it in my mouth?” She smirked. Aemond snarled and pulled her back uo.
“You’re useless. Can’t even suck a cock properly? Why am I even keeping you?”
“Then divorce me, so I won't have to see your stupid, hateful face anymore.” She hissed as she pushed him back with a newfound force, driven by her anger. He landed back on the bed, and he quickly rose on his elbows, his eye full of hate for her.
“Oh, you’d like that, uh?”
“Yes.” She raised her dress and sat on top of him, pushing him back on the bed.
She never rode him. She was never on top.
Every time he came in her room, he just pushed her on her stomach and fucked her from behind, controlling everything.
Not this time.
She pushed her panties to the side, and grabbed his cock, squeezing it in her hand, making him twitch beneath her as he inhaled sharply.
“Fuck, careful.” He grunted, raising her dress from him, so he could get a clear view of her cunt sinking on him, enveloping around his cock, squeezing it and wetting it.
She bit back a moan as she slowly sank down, trying to take him all.
It was strange to be in a different position, on top, controlling.
She finally sat down on him with a long sight. Aemod’s hand flew immediately to her hips, but she slapped them away and pressed her hands down on his chest with force.
“I’m on top.” She groaned as she slowly started to move up and down, briefly, making his cock barely slip out of her.
Aemond started to thrust his hips up, trying to control the pace, but she sat down, making his efforts futile.
Amend growled and slapped her ass as he sat up.
“You think that just because you’re on top you’re in control?” He growled as he squeezed her cheeks in his hand. He laid back down, bringing her with him, his other hand flying to her ass, grabbing a handful of the skin. “No, wife. No.” He started to thrust up his hips quickly, his feet raising on the bed to help him thrust harder, faster.
She let out a moan, unable to hold it, as her eyes rolled in the back of her head. Aemond moved his hand from her cheeks to the back of her head, grabbing a handful of her hair, pulling her head back, forcing her to arch her back so her tits kept jumping up and down in front of his face, threatening at every movement to spill out of the cleavage.
He grunted and let go of her ass to pull down the cleavage and let free her tits, eagerly taking one in his mouth, suckign hard on her nipples.
She managed to look down, and seeing him sucking it hard, with neediness on her boob made another string of wetness coat Aemond’s cock.
“A fucking baby-” She mocked him as she panted, a smirk playing on her lips.
Of course Aemond grew furious at the mock. He pulled away only to slap her breasts.
“Such a hypocrite. Like you didn’t just get even more wet. Slut.” He laughed as he thrusted harder into her, bullying her sweet spot, that his cock seemed to aim on itself every time it entered her.
She hated it, how easily it was for him to pleasure her.
“Like you don’t get hard on being hated.” She spit back, string to move her hips as well, the pace increasing as she squeezed him inside her, trying to bring him close to the orgasm.
“God, I wish I had never agreed on marrying you –” She groaned as she felt another pull at her hair, her back arching even more.
“Considering how much time you put on your hair, I thought you would have been way more careful on the other’s.” She mocked him. He suddenly sat up and grabbed her ass tightly.
“So talkative, wife.” He smirked. “Are you trying to turn me on to show me that you’d be better than Floris?” He grinned, amused by her attitude.
She clenched her jaw as she glared daggers at him.
“I don’t need to prove myself. I am better than her.” She clenched her jaw as she looked at him.
Aemond hummed, looking at her in silence for a moment, unmoving.
“Surely her cunt is not as tight as yours.” She didn’t even have the time to register his words or get angry because he stood up, taking her in his arms, and he started to thrust his hips again, slower, but with much more intensity and hardness.
“Fuck –” She gasped, wrapping her arms around his neck immediately, to secure herself from falling. Aemond chuckled.
“Scared to fall, wife?” He clenched his jaw as he sped up the pace, making her jump on his cock.
“Fuck you. I’d bring you down with me.” She hissed, her nails digging in the back of his shoulders.
“I’d come.” He grunted as his head leaned back, a moan escaping his mouth.
She looked at him with a hint of surprise.
Surely he didn’t mean it. He couldn’t. He hated her.
Her thoughts got quickly washed away by a wave of pleasure. She didn’t even realize she was so much on the edge.
She looked at him as he straightened his head, his singe eye meeting hers, filled with affection.
She tightened her arms around his neck and closed her eyes, moaning loudly as she hit the edge, the pleasure washed over her, shaking her from the insides.
“God – Yes –” He moaned as her walls sucked him in, squeezed him, wetted him even more, turning the sound of his last thrusts squelched, louder.
He came hard, emptying his balls deep inside her with a low grunt. He stepped back, until the back of his knees hit the edge of the bed, then he let himself fall back, keeping her close to his chest.
They landed on the mattress with a tud.
‘I’d come’, his eye full with affection.
She sat up on him and looked down at his face, placing her hand on his cheek to turn his gaze to her.
It happened for a brief moment, but she saw it, right before his gaze hardened as his usual stoic face.
“I hate you.” She said between pants looking down at him, watching for a reaction in his face, a confirmation that he felt the same.
“I hate you too.” He turned his head to the side, diverting his gaze, looking somewhere ahead of him.
She nodded to herself, then she moved back down on his chest, resting her head on it.
His heart beated so fast and loudly.

Ruin the Friendship
Max Verstappen x best friend!Reader
Summary: you and Max refuse to confess your feelings for each other in fear of ruining your friendship. Naturally, Max chooses to ruin every date with another man you go on instead
You can’t remember a time when Max Verstappen wasn’t your best friend.
The two of you grew up together, playing in the streets of Hasselt since before you could walk. Your parents joke that you learned to crawl just so you could keep up with him.
As you got older, your friendship only grew stronger. You were inseparable, there for each other through all the ups and downs of childhood and adolescence. When Max’s karting career took off, you were his biggest supporter, traveling all over Europe on weekends whenever you could to cheer him on at races.
After he moved to Monaco when he joined Red Bull, Max begged you to come with him. “I can’t do this without my best friend by my side,” he said. You didn’t hesitate — there was nowhere you would rather be than with Max.
Now you live together in his apartment in Monte Carlo. Mornings are spent on his balcony overlooking the glistening Mediterranean, drinking coffee and chatting about everything and nothing. Evenings are filled with video games, movies, and dreams of the future.
You know everything about each other, from favorite foods to secret fears. You trust Max more than anyone else in the world. He’s your person, the other half of your soul. Sometimes you think you love him as more than a friend, but you’d never risk what you have. If you lost Max, you’d lose yourself.
Today is like any other day. Max is sitting next to you on the couch, focused intently on crushing you in Mario Kart. You’re trying your best, but he’s just too good.
“Yes!” Max pumps his fist in the air as he wins yet again. “Too easy!”
You roll your eyes and shove him playfully. “Whatever, I let you win.”
He laughs. “Sure you did.” His smile makes your heart skip a beat.
You’re about to suggest another round when Max’s phone rings. He grabs it off the coffee table. “It’s Christian,” he says. “Probably wants to go over strategy for the race this weekend. I better take this.”
“No problem.” You stretch your arms over your head. “I’ll make us some lunch while you talk to him.”
Max answers the call as he makes his way out to the balcony. Through the glass door you see him pacing, one hand waving animatedly as he talks. You smile and head to the kitchen.
As you rummage through the fridge, you think about the race this weekend. You couldn’t be more proud of Max and everything he’s accomplished. But you’d be lying if you said you didn’t worry every time he got into that car. Still, you know racing makes him happier than anything else in the world. And his happiness is what matters most to you.
You find the ingredients for Max’s favorite sandwich — nutella and banana. As you start spreading nutella on slices of bread, you hear Max call your name from the next room.
“Y/N! Come here, I need your opinion on something!”
You poke your head out of the kitchen. “Can it wait? I’m making lunch!”
“No, it’s urgent! Just come here!” He’s smiling like he has a secret.
You laugh, wiping your nutella-covered hands on a towel. “Alright, I’m coming!”
You make your way out to the balcony, wondering what Max wants your opinion on. With him, it could be anything.
“Ok, what’s up?” You ask.
Max grins and takes your hand, his eyes twinkling. “How would you feel about being my date to the FIA Gala this year?”
You stare at Max, stunned. “Your … your date? To the FIA Gala?”
He nods, still grinning. “Yeah! It’s next month in Baku. I could really use my best friend by my side for moral support on the big Red Carpet.”
Your mind is reeling. The FIA Gala is the biggest formal event of the Formula 1 season. All the top drivers and teams come dressed to the nines to celebrate the end of the championship. Rumors always swirl about who will bring the hottest date.
And Max wants you to be his.
“Are … are you sure?” You stammer. “Wouldn’t you rather bring a model or something?”
Max scoffs. “Please. You know I hate those stuffy events. But with you there cracking jokes and making fun of everybody with me, it might actually be fun for once!”
You can’t help but smile at the thought of being on Max’s arm. “Well, when you put it like that, how can I say no?”
“Yes!” Max pumps his fist. “This is going to be epic. I’ll have my team sort all the details. All you have to do is show up looking gorgeous.” He winks.
You blush slightly. “I think I can manage that.”
Over the next few weeks, Max’s stylist comes by the apartment for dress fittings. You settle on a couture emerald gown with a daring slit up the leg. The perfect blend of classy and sexy.
Max lets out a low whistle when you emerge from your suite the night of the gala. “You look incredible,” he says, staring at you in awe.
You smooth down the front of your dress self-consciously. “So do you.” Max cuts a sharp figure in his black tuxedo.
He offers you his arm. “Shall we?”
Your stomach flutters as you take it. You still can’t believe you’re Max’s date tonight. Part of you wishes it were real instead of just for show.
As predicted, jaws drop when you walk the red carpet on Max’s arm. Cameras flash furiously around you.
“They’re gonna think you’re my new girlfriend,” Max murmurs in your ear.
You laugh. “Let them think what they want.” But secretly, you wish the rumors were true.
The night flies by in a blur of champagne, dancing, and laughter. You and Max stay by each other’s side the whole time, laughing and judging everyone’s outfits. It’s the most fun you’ve had in ages.
On the ride back to the hotel, Max rests his head on your shoulder. “Thank you for coming with me tonight,” he says. “I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
You kiss the top of his head. “That’s what best friends are for.”
But as you fall asleep that night, you can’t help but wonder if Max will ever see you as more than just his best friend.
***
Not long after coming back home, you’re getting ready for your first date since the FIA Gala. After seeing you all dressed up with Max, your friend Julian finally got the nerve to ask you out. You said yes, partly to stop constantly pining for Max.
You’re meeting Julian for dinner at a nice restaurant downtown. As you put the finishing touches on your makeup, Max lounges on your bed.
“I can’t believe you’re going on a date with Julian,” Max says, scowling. “That guy is so boring.”
You toss a pillow at him. “Stop it, he’s cute! I think it’ll be fun.”
Max catches the pillow and frowns. “What if I took you somewhere way better tonight instead?”
You pause your makeup application. “Wait, like a date?”
“What? No!” Max avoids your eyes. “Just as friends.”
You feel a twinge of disappointment. “Oh. Well, I already made plans with Julian.”
“Fine, go on your lame date,” Max grumbles. “But when Julian puts you to sleep talking about accounting, don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
You finish getting ready then head out to meet Julian. He greets you with a bouquet of flowers. “You look beautiful,” he says.
“Thanks!” You reply. The date starts off nicely. Julian is a perfect gentleman over dinner. But as the conversation wears on, you find yourself growing bored. Max was right, Julian is really dull.
Suddenly, you get a text from Max.
SOS come quick! Emergency at the apartment!
You frown, instantly worried. “Sorry Julian, I have to go. My roommate needs me.”
Julian looks disappointed but nods in understanding. “No problem. I’ll walk you out.”
You hurry home, anxious to make sure Max is okay. You burst through the apartment door. “Max! What’s wrong? Are you alright?”
Max looks up casually from the couch. “Oh hey Y/N. What’s up?”
“What’s up? You texted me that there was an emergency!”
“Oh yeah, we ran out of gummy bears,” he says, waving an empty bag. “I was hungry.”
Your jaw drops. “Are you serious, Max? I was on my date!”
Max grins. “Oops, my bad! But I saved you from dying of boredom with that guy. How about we order a pizza instead?”
You want to be mad at him for ruining your date. But looking at his smiling face, you can’t help but laugh. “You’re impossible,” you say, plopping down next to him.
Max just winks and hands you a controller. “Now come on, let’s see if you can actually beat me in Mario Kart this time.”
And just like that, you forget all about Julian and your ruined date. Nothing is nearly as fun as spending time with your best friend.
***
A few days later, you’re getting ready for another date, this time with a guy named Levi who you met online. He’s gorgeous with tattoos and an edgy style, totally your type.
When you tell Max about the date over breakfast, he nearly chokes on his eggs. “You can’t be serious. That dude looks like a complete tool.”
You roll your eyes as you grab your purse. “Don’t pretend you know anything about him. I think he’s hot and he seems cool.”
Max crosses his arms. “Well I don’t like it. How do you know this guy isn’t a total creep?”
“I appreciate your concern,” you say, “But I’m a big girl. I can handle myself on a date.”
Max opens his mouth to retort but you hold up a hand. “Nope, I don’t want to hear it! I’m running late as it is.” You give Max a quick hug. “Don’t wait up!”
You meet Levi at a trendy speakeasy bar downtown. He looks even hotter than his Tinder pics, with arm tattoos peeking out from under his leather jacket.
“Hey gorgeous,” he says with a crooked smile. He leans in for a lingering kiss on your cheek.
You blush. “Hi yourself.” Maybe Max was wrong about this guy.
You have a great time with Levi. The drinks are strong and the conversation is easy. After a few hours, Levi asks if you want to get out of there.
“I’d love to see your apartment,” you say with a flirtatious glance.
Levi grins. “I was hoping you’d say that.”
He pays the tab and you start walking to his place. As you turn a corner, you run straight into someone, nearly falling over.
“Oh my gosh, I’m so sorr-Max? What are you doing here?”
Max steadies you with his hands. “Y/N! Fancy running into you!”
You stare at Max in disbelief. “Did you follow me?”
Max avoids your gaze. “What? No, of course not. I was just in the neighborhood.”
You cross your arms. “I find that hard to believe.”
You stare at him in disbelief. Levi pipes up from behind you. “Uh, do you two know each other?”
“Unfortunately yes,” you reply tightly, not taking your eyes off Max.
Max finally meets your stare, his jaw clenched. “I was worried about you, okay? This guy looks like bad news.”
You scowl at him. “That’s not your call to make. I’m allowed to go on dates without you ruining them.”
Max’s shoulders slump. “I know, I’m sorry. I just care about you and want you to be safe.” He glances at Levi again uncertainly.
You soften a bit, seeing the genuine concern in Max’s eyes. You put a hand on his arm. “I appreciate you looking out for me, but I’ll be okay. See you at home later.”
You turn to Levi, who looks understandably confused. You loop your arm through his. “Shall we keep going?”
But as you walk away, the playful mood from earlier is gone. Levi tries to make conversation, but you’re preoccupied thinking about Max and the sad look on his face.
Levi invites you up to his apartment still, but your heart’s not in it anymore. You make an excuse and head home, feelings conflicted.
Max is on the couch when you storm in. “Hey! How was the date?”
You don’t answer, just grab a pillow and start smacking him with it.
“Ow!” Max holds up his hands, laughing. “What was that for?”
“You know exactly what it was for, you sneaky jerk! Sabotaging my date again.”
Max grins up at you impishly. “Maybe I just happened to be in the neighborhood.”
You keep hitting him with the pillow, but end up collapsing on the couch next to him, both of you breathless with laughter.
“You’re the worst,” you say between giggles.
Max drapes his arm around your shoulders. “Yeah but admit it, you love me anyway.”
You sigh and nestle against him. “Unfortunately yes, I do.”
And you know that no matter how many dates Max sabotages, he’ll always be your number one.
***
After the last two disastrous dates, you decide to take a break from dating for a while. But your coworker Jess convinces you to give it one more shot with a guy named Liam she met at her gym. Reluctantly, you agree to meet up with him.
The day of the date arrives and you get ready halfheartedly, already anticipating Max’s attempts to sabotage it. Speaking of Max, you realize you haven’t seen him all day, which is odd.
You find a note on the kitchen counter:
Had to fly to Milton Keynes last minute for work. Will be gone all weekend. Have fun on your date.
<3 Max
You’re surprised but also a bit disappointed. While his meddling is annoying, you’re so used to Max being a constant presence in your dating life. It will feel weird doing this without him.
You push that thought aside as you head out to meet Liam at a burger place. When you arrive, you’re pleasantly surprised. Liam is handsome, charming, and easy to talk to.
After lunch, you go on a walk through a nearby park. You’re having such a nice time, you don’t even think about Max. At the end of the date, Liam asks to see you again.
“I’d love to,” you say with a smile. Liam leans in for a sweet goodbye kiss.
As you turn to go, you hear a familiar voice yelling your name. “Y/N! There you are!”
You whirl around to see Max jogging towards you, slightly out of breath.
“Max? What are you doing here? I thought you had that work thing.”
Max shrugs nonchalantly. “Oh, it got canceled last minute.”
Liam looks between you two, confused. “Wait, is this the dude you live with?”
Before you can respond, Max strides up and vigorously shakes Liam’s hand. “Max Verstappen, nice to meet you! I’m Y/N’s … boyfriend.”
Your eyes nearly bug out of your head. “My WHAT?”
“Yeah babe, your boyfriend,” Max says, draping an arm around you. “Sorry I couldn’t make our date today, got held up at work. But who’s this guy you’re with?”
Liam stares wide-eyed at Max’s arm around you. “Uh, I should get going. See you around, Y/N.” He scurries off.
You shove Max away from you, fuming. “What the hell was that? Why did you pretend to be my boyfriend?”
Max shoves his hands in his pockets sheepishly. “I just couldn’t stand the idea of you dating that dude.”
“So you LIED? You scared him off forever!” You poke Max’s chest angrily.
He grabs your hand. “I’m sorry! I don’t know why I did that. I was jealous and I wasn’t thinking straight.”
You search his face and see real remorse in his eyes. Your anger starts to fade.
“Jealous? Why would you be jealous, Max?” Your voice comes out barely above a whisper.
He takes a shaky breath. “Because the truth is, I’m in love with you. As more than a friend. I have been for a long time. Seeing you with those other guys made me realize I couldn’t stand not being with you myself.”
You stand frozen, stunned into silence. Max rubs the back of his neck nervously. “Please say something.”
You finally find your voice again. “Took you long enough, idiot.”
And you grab his shirt and kiss him deeply. Max grins against your lips, wrapping you in his arms.
“No more sabotaging my dates,” you murmur.
“Deal,” Max whispers. “As long as I can be your one and only from now on.”
You answer by kissing him again under the setting sun. At long last, you finally have your dream guy.
***
The next morning, you wake up in Max’s arms, still unable to believe the incredible turn your relationship has taken. Last night after the park, you came home and talked for hours, admitting your true feelings while cuddled up on the couch. You kissed and kissed until you both finally fell asleep tangled together.
Now in the light of day, your worries start to creep in. What if this ruins your friendship? What if you’re not meant to be more than best friends?
You untangle yourself from Max’s embrace and go to make coffee. He finds you a few minutes later on the balcony overlooking the sea.
“Good morning, beautiful,” Max says, wrapping his arms around you from behind. He kisses your shoulder.
You turn in his arms to face him. “Can we talk about this?”
He frowns slightly. “Talk about what?”
You gesture between the two of you. “This new aspect of our relationship. I’m just worried it will mess things up. Maybe we should take a step back and think things through?”
Max’s face falls. “You’re having second thoughts?”
“No, not second thoughts exactly. I care about you so much Max, as my best friend. I don’t want to ruin that.”
Max caresses your cheek. “You could never ruin our friendship. It means everything to me too. But we both deserve to be happy, and I know we can make each other happy in this new way as well. I’m willing to take that chance if you are.”
You search his earnest eyes. He’s right — your connection runs so much deeper than just friendship. And you trust Max. If anyone is worth taking this risk for, it’s him.
You take his hand and intertwine your fingers. “You’re right. I want to make this work.”
Relief washes over Max’s face. He leans in and kisses you softly. “I promise you won’t regret it. I’ll be the best boyfriend ever!”
You laugh. “Well in that case, take me on our first official date tonight!”
“It would be my pleasure.” Max strokes your hair. “Thank you for taking a chance on me. On us. I know we’re meant to be, schatje. I’ve loved you all my life.”
“I’ve loved you all my life too,” you whisper. And you know that no matter what happens, your bond with Max will never break.
The future has yet to be written, but you’re ready to face it hand-in-hand with the man who has always had your heart.

I Hate The New Hero!
Pt 5: What?!
Pt 1 - Pt 2 - Pt 3 - Pt 4 - Pt 5 (You're here) - Pt 6 - Pt 7 - Pt 8 - Pt 9 - Pt 10
Finally getting home from your patrol you sneak through the window of your bedroom and collapse onto your bed. After the call you decided that your patrol was done.
Frankly you're still coming to terms with the fact that Batman and his protogese are the same people who are essentially praying on your civilian self's downfall yet adoring your vigilante persona like it's the greatest thing in the world.
Though, now that you really think about it, it makes sense. Bruce Wayne is the richest man alive, he'd be able to afford to do this, they have the same amount of members as the heroes, same builds and heights, actually... Basically everything matches up.
Not to mention the fact that your senses goes off around both group members!
From outside your small room door you hear your parents arguing again - more like your mother yelling and your dad breaking things and stomping his foot. It was probably your dad's fault again. Don't get you wrong, you love your family! It's just that they're dysfunctional.
Your dad has a massive drinking problem that landed him working as a goon for Black Mask, he's struggled with his temper for years after he got hit a bit too hard in the head by Batman. Pair that with the fact that he's mute and he's a force to be reckoned with.
Your mom is always busy and rarely ever home, when she is she couldn't be bothered to interact with you unless you got into trouble. She grew up rich, often talking about how she went to the same school as Bruce Wayne and how she was a popular cheerleader before her life fell apart. She doesn't talk much on the topic but it's clear she holds distain for your father and, by extension, you.
You sigh to yourself, you need to shower. That means you need to get past them without them bringing you into it. Or you just don't shower for the night and have one tomorrow...
Your mom screams something out about not throwing knives and you decide to just shower tomorrow morning.
You change out of your costume and hide it safely under a loose floorboard, you change into your pajamas and get into bed. Today was a massive mental drain and physical drain.
...
You awake to a knock at the front door. Your parents usually ignore it and make you answer when someone knocks because "you're dispensable" as they say. Looking at the clock on the wall of the kitchen you see it's around 7am.
Groggily making your way to the door you look through the peep hole and see Tim standing awkwardly on the other side with a guy next to him, the guy next to him being so big and tall that you could only see a small part of his chest and arm.
You curse to yourself quietly, this is by far the worst luck you've ever had.
You open the door and look at the two. Now seeing the other guy the thing that stands out is a stripe of white hair on his head. Instantly you know it's Jason Todd.
You aren't an idiot. He's the only one in the family built like how he is - not including Bruce.
"What do you want?" You ask, annoyed. Tim chuckles weakly, as if nervous. "Wayne Enterprises wishes to give your mother her letter of departure." You blink once, then twice. "Huh? Letter of departure? The fuck does that mean?" You mutter, genuinely confused.
Jason scoffs, "it means your dear mother is losing her job, kid." He states uncaring of how blunt he's being. Tim elbows him and hisses something about being more considerate.
You don't listen, all noise becoming white noise. Why is she being fired? She works hard, she dedicates her time, she does her best! Is this because you have beef with Tim? That's not fair!
She's the only stable source of income, without that job you all would be living on the streets. You've heard AND seen so many horror stories about teens living on the streets, it's something you'd pray never happened to you. But now it's entirely probable.
So, in a moment of desperation you grip Tim by his shoulders "Please! You can't fire her! We'll end up homeless! She works all the time, she tries! My mother will improve if you ask, she needs this job. The whole family does!"
Tim seems shocked by this, his posture stiffening. Jason looks on guard, as if assessing whether he should step in, though he doesn't seem fond of the idea. You wouldn't doubt that he was made to accompany Tim as a body guard.
Tim opens his mouth, then closes it, then opens it again. Clearly he wasn't expecting you to beg for your mother to keep her job.
"Uh... Look, I don't mean any harm by it, it's just that we need to make way for brighter minds..." He stumbles slightly over his words as if making the excuse up on the spot.
You won't back down however. "Tim, please, I desperately need you to realize this. I. Will. Die. On. The. Streets." Probably not true because of your mutation but the fear remains. "Please, I'll do anything for you to not do this! I already promised Bruce to stop talking bad about Aranea!" You please desperately.
Tim glances to Jason who quirks a brow and shrugs. The sound of movement from behind you makes your eyes widen and behind you you see your dad approaching, you were probably too loud.
He glares at you before yanking your hair so you move away from Tim and remove your clutches on him. You hiss in pain at the feeling but bow your head down.
Your dad eyes the two boys before looking to the paper in Tim's hands. He instantly knows what's going on and storms down the hallways of the complex to do who-knows what. That scares you. Your dad is unpredictable.
After some silence Tim speaks up. "Are you okay? Your dad pulled your hair pretty tightly..." You look down, ashamed. You couldn't even bother putting your walls up and defending your pride. Your life is basically falling apart at the seams.
"... I'll do anything for you to not fire my mother..." You mutter meekly, a far cry from how you usually act, something Tim notices immediately. He sighs to himself, he debates the odds. Maybe if he doesn't fire (Reader)'s mother then they can be even. The feud can end, it was pointless on your part to begin with for hating someone so sweet and kind, then hating him who defends the innocent.
"Fine. Your mother can stay, but, it may not be permanent. I suggest she find elsewhere in the mean time." Tim states before walking off. Jason takes a second to stare at your relived form, the slight smile of disbelief and look of relief in your eyes. He then leaves with Tim.
You close the door to the apartment and sink to the floor. That was terrifying. You'll have find a way of telling your mother the news before she goes into work in two hours.
You're officially having the day off from school and patrol today.

Would you still love me if I was a worm?
I put up a poll like two months ago about which WIP y'all wanted first and this was the winner by a landslide.
This may also be one of the sadder things I wrote. Part 1 MDNI 18+
Carmy Berzatto x Reader
The Bear MasterList
Directory
Carmy got home late that night, later than he’d like, especially knowing he’d only be home for a few hours before returning to The Bear. He kicked his shoes off and shed his backpack and jacket before locking his apartment door. He wandered into the kitchen to see a plate covered in plastic wrap. He looked at it for a second before removing it from the fridge to see a fluorescent sticky note with your loopy handwriting on it, ‘another attempt :)’ he chuckled and removed the plastic wrap and placed the plate in the microwave before pulling his phone out of his pocket to see you’d texted him hours ago.
‘I found another polenta recipe online!’
‘Imma bring a plate over for you, baby :)’
‘Miss you!!’
Carmy smiled and quickly texted you back. He was surprised to hear a text notification coming from his bedroom. He put his phone on the counter before lazily pushing a hand through his hair. He walked through the living room to his bedroom. You were in his bed, asleep and drooling slightly. He chuckled and quietly approached the edge of the bed.
He pushed a fallen lock of hair out of your face and tucked it behind your ear before kissing your forehead, “Thanks for dinner, baby…” he whispered before walking back out to the living room.
~
You stirred in bed when you felt the weight of the mattress shift. You shifted in your sleep and sighed softly, “Carmy?” you asked sleepily. “Hi, baby,” Carmy whispered in your ear as he pulled you flush against his body, his arms wrapping tightly around your waist. He kissed your shoulder, “Good day?” you asked as you brought a hand to the back of his head to lace your fingers in his unruly greasy curls. Carmy grumbled in response and kissed your neck softly, “That bad?” you giggled.
“Just missed you,” Carmy mumbled before softly biting down where he’d been previously kissed. “I just need you- all fuckin’ day.” His hips subtly pressed against your ass, causing you to gasp at the sensation softly. “I need you, baby.” Carmy whispered, “Can I have you?”
You didn’t answer the question. Instead, you wiggled in his grip, trying to rotate yourself in his arms to face him. Carmy’s grip tightened, “No, just like this baby. I want you just like this…” he cooed as his hands began exploring your body through the oversized t-shirt you’d worn to bed. You felt yourself melt against his chest as he began to manhandle your breasts over the shirt. As Carmy rolled your nipples between his index and middle fingers, a needy moan escaped your lips; you needed him as much as he needed you.
Cooking had been Carmy’s passion for as long as he could remember. It was a way for him to express his creativity, intelligence, and love; he also despised it. Nothing was good enough. No matter how creative he tried to be or how hard he tried, it was never good enough. Taking over The Beef after Mikey passed and turning it into The Bear should have been a dream come true. The dream had turned into a nightmare, a constant stressor in his life because he wasn’t enough. Then you came into his life.
You’d sat next to him on the L one morning while he was doodling in his notebook. You didn’t want to be intrusive, but you couldn’t help but look at what he’d been drawing. When you complimented the drawing, Carmy looked up at you and felt the oxygen leave his lungs. He didn’t think that whole ‘love at first sight’ troupe had validity, but the moment his gaze met yours, he couldn’t imagine his life without you.
Carmy’s life changed when you entered it. He’d dedicated his every waking moment to ensuring the success of The Bear. He’d given up on so many aspects of his life, but a light bulb went off that morning on the L. You’d gotten off before he could work up the courage to say anything, but he knew he had to find you again.
Every morning, he’d board the train and scan the car for you. Weeks had gone by, and he was ready to give up on ever finding you again- then you were there. You sat there bundled up in some stylish black coat and a bright jade scarf, scrolling on your phone. Carmy swallowed his nerves and sat next to you despite the multiple free seats around the section. “Hey.” he greeted. You looked up, removing the headphones from your ears. You couldn’t help but smile when you saw your mystery man.
You had your face pressed into Carmy’s pillows as he thrust into you at a painstakingly slow pace as his calloused fingers rubbed tight circles against your clit. “So fuckin’ wet for me, baby,” Carmy whined lowly as he pulled his hand away from your clit. He brought both of his hands to your hips and started thrusting faster. Your moans became more ragged as you arched your back, desperate to feel him hit that one spot.
“Fuck Carmy!” you whimpered as you felt yourself coming undone. He had a similar sentiment as he bent over to kiss your shoulder.
“Just like that baby… cream on my cock, baby,” he growled into your ear.
~
The following day, Carmy woke up to an empty bed with a bright pink sticky note on his bedframe.
“You’re too cute to wake up sometimes <3
I have meetings all day. See you soon, baby.”
You and your sticky notes. Carmy chuckled as he got out of bed and quickly prepared himself for work. It would be another long day at the restaurant, and he hoped you’d be back in his bed tonight when he got home.
Carmy walked into the kitchen that morning to hear Richie and Syd arguing about nonsense. Ebra struggled to pile rolls by the sandwich prep station, and Marcus was tweezing tiny flowers onto some cream puff dessert he’d been working on the past few days. Carmy felt his shoulders tighten as the frustration of running a restaurant settled in.
Something felt off as your day went on, but you couldn’t put your finger on it. “Y/N. You’re goin’ to Houston.” your boss announced as he entered your office with a manilla envelope in one hand and a stupid grin on his face. You laughed and shot him a confused look, “Okay, hear me out, Y/N. You’re one of my best and brightest editors, and I know you can show these newbies how to run a tight ship.” he explained further as he stepped closer to your desk to drop the envelope on your desk. “The details are in there. The company is excited to see how much more you can grow in this position.”
You thanked him as he walked out of your office. You leaned back in your desk chair and opened the envelope. Six weeks in Huston meant six weeks without Carmy would be hell, but looking at the itinerary your manager wrote, this would boost your career. It didn’t mean you’d have to like it, though.
~
Carmy sat on his couch that night and blankly stared at the TV. He’d put on some Danish cooking show as background noise while he waited for you to call him. He was growing impatient as the minutes ticked by; you had to be off work by now. Carmy put his head back on the couch and stared up at the off-white, almost grey stain on his ceiling. He always wondered what had happened, but the landlord claimed not to know.
When his phone rang, Carmy jumped at the sound and grabbed his phone from the coffee table. “Hey baby.” he greeted, “Okay… didn’t expect that one Cousin.” Carmy rolled his eyes as Richie’s voice came through his phone speaker. “What do you want?” he asked, not bothering to hide his annoyance. “Dam. You talk to your girl like this? I don’t get how you pulled-”
“Richie. What?” Carmy asked, cutting Richie off mid-riff. “Tyler called out- his wife is havin’ the baby. Need you to come in.” Richie hesitated to call Carmy in; he knew this was his first night off in almost a month. Carmy clicked his tongue before responding, “Okay.” he huffed and hung up his phone. He tossed it on the couch before getting up and walking toward his bedroom to quickly change into a pair of black Dickies and a white t-shirt. As he pushed his feet into a pair of sneakers, he heard his doorbell ring. “I swear to God…” he muttered as he pulled his jacket on before grabbing his backpack and leaving his room.
“Hey, ba—oh. I thought you were off tonight.” You cut yourself off when you noticed Carmy was in his work clothes.
Carmy frowned, noticing the disappointment in your voice. “Tyler called out last minute.” he clarified as he caught your face falling further into disappointment. He was going to kill Richie when he saw him. “I’m sorry, princess.”
You sighed, “It’s okay. I shoulda called, but I was packing.”
Your comment was met with a confused look from Carmy, “You goin’ somewhere?” he asked.
You nodded, “I’m going to Huston for like a month to help set up a new office.”
Carmy frowned at your reply; on one hand, he was proud of you for the work you’d been doing, but on the other, a month was a long time. “Oh shit.”
You laughed at his reaction, “I had the same reaction.” Carmy chuckled as he exited his apartment and threw an arm around your shoulders.
“When do you leave?” he asked as the two of you walked down the hall toward the elevator of his building.
“Tomorrow afternoon,” you said, wrapping an arm around his waist. “I know it’s not a lot of warning, but I guess I can walk you to your car or something as a final in-person date until I return.”
“You better.” Carmy teased
“I’ll also FaceTime you as much as possible while I’m gone.”
“You better.” Carmy teased again, making you laugh. “I’m gonna miss you.”
~
Carmy had been grumpy since you left. While the two of you called or Facetimed at least every other night and exchanged some Spicer messages and pictures throughout the weeks, it wasn’t the same. Neither of you were sleeping well, and the frustration of seeing you but not being able to touch you was getting to him.
And it was everybody’s problem.
“When the fuck is she comin’ back?” Richie scoffed at Natalie that night at The Bear. Carmy was getting into it with the new line cook, and Richie needed a break from him.
“Just a couple more days.” Natalie laughed without looking up from her computer. “He’ll be back to his usual level of chaos soon enough.”
“A couple more days? I don’t know Sugar. I might throw that kid through a damn wall. Fuck head is getting on my last goddamn nerve.” Richie huffed as he sat across from her. Natalie laughed and shot him a look that validated his growing frustration. She knew Carmy better than anyone else and understood the annoyance he’d been putting the staff through. “Kid needs to get laid…” Richie muttered before excusing himself back to the kitchen.
~
Carmy anxiously looked around the airport that morning. A month away from each other proved more difficult than either of you had anticipated. As you rode the escalator down to the main entrance where Carmy had been waiting, you couldn’t help but smile. “Carmy!” you squealed as you ran up to him, forgetting about your suitcase at the base of the escalator. Your excitement had caught him off guard, but when he’d realized it was you calling for him, he perked up.
“Hey,” he greeted as he pulled you into a tight hug, “Holy shit, I missed you,” he said with an exacerbated sigh. He buried his face in the crook of your neck as you wrapped your arms around his neck.
“I literally have so much to tell you about! I missed you so much, Carm!” you rattled off as you tried to drag him out of the airport. Carmy laughed and nudged his head to the bottom of the escalator where your suitcase sat. The two of you retrieved your bag and headed out of the airport toward his car. As the two of you walked through the parking lot, you rattled off about the work you’d done over the past weeks and told him about some places you’d gone to eat. Carmy smiled the entire time. None of it was new information. With the amount the two of you had been texting and calling, it was like he’d been down in Houston with you, but he listened to everything you had to say.
You led Carmy up to your apartment while you continued rattling off details of your trip. He stood back, watched you unlock the door to your place, and followed you as you walked in. He placed your suitcase by the door and watched as you went over to the neatly stacked pile of mail your mom must have brought in while she watered your plants.
“Wanna watch a movie and order food?” you asked as you put your mail back on the counter before returning your full attention to Carmy.
He nodded and leaned against the counter, “Whatever you want, baby.”
~
Your room was filled with your whimpers and the sound of skin slapping skin. Carmy had one of your legs hiked over his shoulder as he slowly pounded his against yours. “Fuckk- right there.” you gasped as Carmy’s thumb rubbed tight circles against your clit. He grunted as he leaned in, smashing his lips against yours. You moaned into his mouth as you felt the ever-familiar knot tightening in your stomach you’d missed while you were on your trip.
Carmy let your leg fall from his shoulder and his hand to your cheek. He rested his forehead against yours as his thrusts slowed to a painstakingly slow pace. You moaned softly and tangled your fingers in his hair, tugging at the roots as his chain tickled your chin. “Carmy.” you winced.
“So fuckin’ perfect baby… fuckin’ made for me…” Carmy groaned as he relished in the feeling of your pussy gripping around him. “I love you, Y/N.” the words left Carmy’s mouth without a second thought, and when he realized what he said, it was too late. You looked at him with wide eyes and let your hands drop to his shoulders.
“W-what did you say?”
“I love you…” Carmy softly trailed off, hoping he didn’t ruin what the two of you had built over the past eight months.
“I-I- Fuck, I love you too, Carmy.”
~
“Can you test me again? There’s no way.” you were bewildered when your doctor read your chart.
“We can, but blood tests are over 99% accurate,” he said as he wrote something down on your chart. You stared at him in disbelief. You couldn’t be pregnant. “With the pregnancy, I can’t give you a refill of your Paxil, but we can try a different anti-depressant. The safest option is going to be Zoloft. I can also set you up with an appointment to see Dr. Parks; she’s an OB who is taking new patients. Here is your prescription and a pamphlet that explains your options… Congratulations.” he grinned and handed you multiple pamphlets and your new prescription.
You nodded, not knowing how to react. You’d only been back in Chicago for a couple of weeks; there was no way you’d gotten pregnant. You had a period while you were in Houston; it was light, but it was there. You quickly shoved the papers into your bag and exited the doctor's office. This couldn’t be happening right now.
You’d been avoiding Carmy for about a week when he’d come knocking on your door. Telling your boyfriend of eight months, you were pregnant… you still couldn’t wrap your head around it- how would Carmy react? You swallowed and reluctantly opened the door, crossing your arms over your stomach.
“Break your phone?” Carmy chuckled as he stood in your doorway.
“Sorry, work has been crazy… Can you come in? We need to talk about something…”
Carmy’s face fell at the mention of needing to talk about something; this was the moment. You were going to break up with him. Why else would you avoid his calls and say you couldn’t come over? You were going to leave him like everyone else did. Carmy nodded silently and walked into your apartment.
“You’re breaking up with me?” Carmy asked, shoving his hands in his pockets as he rocked on his heels. You sighed and closed the door. You took a deep breath as you finally looked at Carmy. Unsure of what to say, you shook your head. “Then what is it, baby?”
“I’m pregnant.”
“What?”
“I’m pregnant, Carmy.”
“Holy shit.”
Carmy stood there in stunned silence. He brought a hand to his jaw and looked at you.
“I don’t want to keep it.”

Angst(?) to comfort, Tired Reader. Fainting. arguing

Choso

Choso had always been protective, but today, his concern felt suffocating. As you walked into the room, he immediately asked, “Why didn’t you call? I’ve been waiting for hours.”
“I didn’t think it was necessary,” you replied, exhaustion seeping into your voice.
“You didn’t think it was necessary?” he repeated, his tone sharp. “I worry about you, Y/N. Do you not care about that?”
“It’s not like that,” you tried to explain, rubbing your temples as the pounding headache you’d been ignoring all day grew worse. “I just—”
“You just what?” he pressed, his voice louder now. “You don’t care how I feel?”
His words hit a nerve, and the stress of the day finally caught up with you. “I can’t do this right now!” you shouted, but your vision blurred, and your legs gave out beneath you.
“Y/N!” Choso’s panic was immediate as he caught you before you hit the ground. His usual stoic expression crumbled as he held you close, his voice trembling. “What’s wrong? Why didn’t you tell me you were feeling like this?”
When you woke up, his hands were still cradling yours, his face inches from yours as he whispered, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to push you. I just... I was scared.”
He pulled you into his arms, holding you like you might break. “You’re everything to me. Please don’t scare me like that again.”
Ryomen Sukuna
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/36dc04785f8815db020e32beaa41fda9/35574cd80e768d08-57/s540x810/70956f481eeeb422baa7b993a8de8d743048aa0d.jpg)

Sukuna had been in a foul mood all day, and you returning from a mission late only added fuel to the fire.
“You’re pathetic,” he sneered, watching as you dropped your bag by the door. “Can’t even handle a simple mission without dragging yourself home like a corpse.”
“Not everyone’s as invincible as you,” you bit back, your voice trembling with fatigue.
He smirked, leaning back. “Clearly.”
The pounding in your head made it hard to think straight, but you weren’t about to let him win. “Why do you always have to be like this? Just—”
Your words cut off as your knees buckled, and darkness overtook you.
“Tch. Idiot,” Sukuna muttered, but he moved faster than you thought possible, catching you before you hit the floor. His crimson eyes scanned your face, his usual arrogance replaced by a flicker of concern.
When you stirred, you found yourself lying on a soft surface, Sukuna sitting beside you with his arms crossed. “Don’t scare me like that again,” he said gruffly, his voice quieter than usual. “If you’re going to collapse, at least have the decency to warn me.”
You managed a weak smile, and he rolled his eyes. “Rest. I’ll deal with anyone who tries to disturb you. You’re useless like this, but you’re mine to take care of.”
Toji Fushiguro
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a7a5b2867c3ec16e9a898d96cb27f620/35574cd80e768d08-56/s540x810/7e0ed692f5970a30cba7c265642a5c032475139f.jpg)

Toji leaned against the kitchen counter, watching you with a smirk as you walked in, exhausted from your day.
“You look like hell,” he said, grabbing a beer.
“Thanks, Toji,” you muttered, rolling your eyes.
“Don’t get snappy with me, sweetheart,” he replied, his tone turning sharp. “I didn’t make you overwork yourself.”
“I don’t need this right now,” you snapped, rubbing your temples.
“Then don’t bring that attitude home,” he shot back, slamming his beer on the counter. “You’re acting like a brat.”
The pounding in your head became unbearable, and before you could respond, your vision blurred, and the world tilted.
“Shit!” Toji cursed, catching you before you hit the ground. His rough hands were surprisingly gentle as he eased you onto the couch. “Y/N, wake up. Damn it, don’t do this.”
When you opened your eyes, his expression was uncharacteristically soft. “You scared the hell out of me,” he muttered, brushing a hand through his hair. “Don’t push yourself so hard.”
His hand lingered on yours as he added, “Take it easy, alright? I’ll stay here until you’re back on your feet.”

A few days ago I wrote this
https://www.tumblr.com/cordidy/769603546439172096/just-needed-to-get-this-out-of-my-head-after?
just because it was in my brain and I'm sooooo happy people liked it.
Here is the part two as demanded. I'm proud with how it came out and I hope you will love reading it as much as I loved writting it 😊
SPOILER for Sylus's Myth
TW : Alcohol, "lady of the night", sadness,
English is not my mother tongue BUT this time it was proofread by @thedeadstoryteller1 whom I love sooooo much for that.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ba3110daf4c4444477a9331483f3ba52/7266ab6dcc957163-b9/s540x810/2397a7fd5fe2e761807e904a2ebac8805f5b3ae1.jpg)
“...Flowers bloom as far as the eye can see…”
“What did you say ?” You groaned, the familiar voice still in your ears as you opened an eye lazily, expecting an answer that never came.
Waking up felt like dying.
Spinning head, dizziness, whole body aching, clearly mistakes were made and atonement was due but God it still hurt.
Slowly opening your eyes as you tried to avoid the blinding light of the sun pouring into your room, you tried to recollect the events of last night…not very efficiently.
A quick look around.
You were alone in your room, not in a drunk tank and fully dressed indicating you did not do nor bring a mistake back home with you, thanks to your bodyguard.
Speaking of bodyguard, you found him in your kitchen, over the stove making ...pancakes ?
“So I did bring an ass…” you started in a tired and raspy voice as you made your way towards the counter before Sylus quickly gestured to his ear.
“I think I’ve been more than generous in my payment planning…”he said calmly while flipping a pancake in the pan as you grabbed a glass of water and some Tylenol before taking a seat, focusing your attention on him.
There was always something intrinsically fascinating when it came to him working. Most of the time you saw two types of Sylus, the asshole trying to get a rise out of you for his own entertainment (kind of cute honestly) or the combatant who would obliterate his enemies while using his Evol to throw things at you when fighting to “keep you on your toes” and because it was “fun”.
Seeing him do things as serious as negotiating a deal or doing his accounting reminded you he was not just a pain in your arse but also a very functioning person.
“Kieran, how many fingers does Mister Vaulric need to play the piano ?” He casually asked on the phone, making you choke on the water you were drinking.
Alright, a psychotic functioning adult…
Silence
He did not turn around when you threw a dishcloth at him, only lowering his head with a sigh.
“You have 1 more week. Increased loan interests, Kieran will handle the details” he finally said, setting the pancakes in a plate before putting them in front of you with a jar of jam, completely ignoring you and your gleaming eyes “Oh and I suggest you don’t leave the N109 Zone for now, we can’t guarantee your…safety…outside of it” he added before he ended the call and took a seat in front of you.
“Did you just threaten a guy in my kitchen ?” you asked, trying to sound casual but unable to hide the frown on your face. Yes you were friends with a criminal but you were still a law abiding citizen…
Besides, threats made with a lace apron sounded….weird.
“I don’t make threats , only warnings. Eat your pancakes” he retorted, casually sitting in front of you.
“I didn't expect to see you here ” you said while eating.
“Someone had to make sure you were alive after all the alcohol you drank last night”
Whoa, that was cold. You looked at him, uncomfortable.
“No I mean in the kitchen, knowing you, I half expected to wake up to you in my bed” you chuckled trying a bit of humor. Of course you trusted him, knowing he would never attempt anything if you could not or would not consent but…well, no harm in some banter right ?
The joke felt flat though as he remained silent.
“Sooooo no snarky comment about the way I look today with my hangover ? No making fun of me for my poor choices in life ? ” you asked him, trying to break the ice with a bit of teasing. Surely he wasn’t mad at you, was he ?
“Does your head hurt ?” he asked, still not looking at you, texting.
“Yeah ?” you answered your mouth full.
“Do you feel like an idiot for getting so shitfaced you don’t remember anything from last night ?”
You remained silent.
Last night…clearly something happened last night.
Something bad judging by his attitude towards you. What...what did you do to deserve the cold shoulder from him of all people ?
You were too slow to respond though as he was already getting up.
“Then the Universe already took care of it on my behalf” he simply said while putting his phone back in his pocket, clearly avoiding eye contact as he grabbed his jacket. “Drink water and take a nap” he added before leaving your apartment without even a goodbye.
Something was wrong.
“Hey, you did not really cut this guy's finger right ?”
Clearly something was wrong between the two of you and it was starting to bug you.
“Everything alright ? No news for 2 weeks is soooo suss coming from you. Even your pigeon from Hell is not around“
That was the only explanation you had to the fact that Sylus had literally vanished from your life since that morning a month ago.
“Sylus, seriously I'm worried, you ok ?”
Then there was the issue of Luke and Kieran.
1 month
1 FUCKING month without a call, without a text, without even a reaction on your Moments and the worst part ? It hurt !
At first you had figured he probably was busy with that Vaulric dude he had been talking to at your place and that’s why he did not answer your messages but a whole month just to deal with a loan gone late ?
“Look, I don’t know what’s going on but you….you’re not yourself lately…” Xavier said, leaving his boxing stance after you tripped while attacking him, barely avoiding falling face first on the ground thanks to your partner's quick reaction.
When you had not been able to reach Sylus, you turned to the twins for info, reassurance, a death certificate, anything to just know what was going on but still, nothing. You knew your messages were read by the pair so they had to be at least alive, but they remained unanswered.
This radio silence was starting to take a toll on you as reflected by your sleepless nights that turned you to a mess both physically and emotionally.
“I’m fine. Again !” you brushed off as the young man tried to get to the bottom of what was happening to you. While you had been the one insisting on sparring, hoping it would allow you to blow some steam off, you clearly were not at it and it was getting dangerous.
“No, I'm not fighting until you tell me what's happening !”
You suppressed a frustrated growl.
Alright, if he wanted to be an easy target…
Next thing you knew, the easy target's fist met your nose as you tried a sneak attack and he reacted out of instinct, color draining from his face when he saw blood dripping from your nose.
“Fuck Y/n I'm sorry ! I…I didn't mean to !”
This got you a week off duty and another scolding from your physician who had threatened to tie you up on a therapist's chair if you did not work on your current issues.
You didn’t need therapy, though, you needed answers and you were going to get them.
Kudos to Zayne for giving you the idea of tying Sylus up until he talked if need be.
Clearly you were not expected.
You didn’t know what to expect when you pushed Sylus’s office door open that night. Your nose was still puffy, wicks still in one of your nostrils, blood all over your shirt but you did not care what you looked like right now.
You wanted answers and he was going to give them to you, as soon as the stunning woman sitting on his desk, half naked, her long silver hair cascading her back, would be gone.
“I…”
There he was, sitting casually, his shirt half open, engrossed in conversation and your blood ran cold into your veins as the woman leaned towards Sylus to refill his glass with a giggle.
Based on his look, it was not the first…The sound of your voice got his attention though, and, for a split second, you saw shock in his eyes before the mask was up again.
Something you did not like.
“Oooooh, you invited a friend ? The more the merrier I guess but…I charge more for this kind of…fun…” the hooker cooed, playing with Sylus’s hair. “No offence sweety, women are just not my…first choice” she added, smiling at you.
Technically, he didn’t owe you anything. You were friends, nothing more, despite the constant flirting, the glances, the brushing of his hands…yet, seeing him with another woman stirred something inside of you.
Maybe it was just the global exhaustion you were into but you felt a surge of…possessiveness towards him and you had to refrain yourself from jumping at the young woman in order to not claw her eyes out.
Seeing you hurt, Sylus, your Sylus anyway, would already be on you, checking your nose, getting the twins to bring you clean clothes while pestering you about the how ? When ? why ? and especially who’s teeth he needed to remove for doing that to you but all you got from the man in front of was a laconic “what happened to your nose ?” as he grabbed his glass, barely looking at you, focusing his attention on the young woman.
Part of you wanted to jump at him and hold him tight as you saw he was alive and well but at the same time you wanted to smash his head on the fucking mahogany desk for giving you the cold shoulder.
“What are you doing here ?”
“What I…” yeah, the head smashing was definitely an option as you walked towards him, trying to remain calm. “I came to see you since you decided to avoid me like the Plague lately” you said coldly.
“Leave us” he commanded the woman who didn't need to be told twice.
She still seemed disappointed as she passed you before grabbing some cash on the coffee table, understanding the party was over. “Well, you saw me”
He remained silent and it made your blood boil with anger.
“So this is what you’ve been doing for the past month ?” you asked, dumbfounded.
"As far as I can remember, what I do in my free time is none of your business” he pointed out in the same laconic tone.
“Alright…what did I do ? Ever since that night you brought me back home you've been avoiding me !”
You couldn’t bear his attitude towards you, the way he had left the situation fester and rot between you two.
“Don't…” he warned you.
So something did happen and, since you couldn’t remember a thing, you could only rely on him…
“What ? What happened ?! Did you try something ?”
Deep down you knew it was not that. You trusted him and you knew he would never take advantage of the situation, hence why you called him but maybe…
“You tried something, I pushed you away and you didn't like that…”
…maybe provoking him…
“I think you should leave Y/n” he said in a straight tone, still avoiding your eyes and that's when you snapped.
“LOOK AT ME YOU FUCKING PRICK !” you yelled at him, losing control of your emotions, finally getting a reaction from him as he was not used to being bossed around or insulted.
That’s when he saw them.
The tears you’ve been keeping up for the past month.
Neither of you could tell if they were tears of sadness, of frustration or of rage but right now, as you looked at him with so much anger and hate and…heartbreak, you were terrifying.
Breathtaking.
A vision for sore eyes that stirred something in him…
Truly and utterly terrified of the man you had been trusting with your life only a month ago.
“A month Sylus…A month without a word ! without a call, without a sign of life ! Do you have any idea how worried I was ?! I thought you were…you were…” you couldn’t say the words, couldn’t admit how the mere thought of it terrified you.
“What ? Dead ?” He let out a resentful chuckle before taking a sip of whiskey “...you made sure this was never an option for me…” and the bitterness of words hit you like a tone of brick.
“You know…You’re good at that little game of yours” he added casually, finally rising from his chair, making his way towards you “I actually believed in that little…amnesia game…”
“What are you talking about ?” you asked, but he did not listen, too focused on his own train of thoughts.
“...But stupid people say stupid things when they get drunk…” he continued, puzzling you even more “What I don’t get though, is the why” he pondered like he was looking for the answer to a complex riddle.
“Please expla…” you started, confusion replacing the anger.
“STOP WITH THE BULLSHIT !” he yelled back, throwing his glass against the wall and, for the first time, you were scared of him.
It didn’t take being a genius to know that, between brute strength and his Evol, you were no match if things were to go south.
“I did everything you asked…” he started, getting closer as you slowly backed away, shaking.
“Sylus you're scaring me…” you said in a genuine tone, fear replacing anger.
“You're noisy…”
That voice again…his voice…
“We set the Sanctuary ablaze…”
“...Fulfilled all of your mortal desirs…” his words dripped…hatred.
He was obviously drunk.
And dangerous.
“Stay back” you warned him, looking for the gun at your belt before aiming at him. Not that it would be of any use anyway but it could eventually buy you time.
“...3 chances..”
“You remind me of a young…”
“I WILL shoot you if you don't back the fuck away Sy !” you warned him but he didn’t stop and you couldn’t bring yourself to shoot.
Your head started to spin as he kept getting closer, your hand shaking, your will faltering as the smell of smoke filled your nose.
Smoke ? What smoke ? What Sanctuary ?
Just like in those nightmares plaguing your nights ever since Sylus and you Resonated…
“We bathed in the blood of your enemies and danced on the corpses of those who wronged you…”
You could hear it, the screams of terror as fire drowned the city and you laughed in bliss, strong hands laced around you
“Are you satisfied, Beloved ?”
“Sylus I don’t feel alright…” you whispered as you started to stumble, feeling the familiar sensation of a new Resonnance which didn’t make sense as resonating with him was a tedious process.
It could not happen just like that…could it ?
You were having a hard time focusing on him and his image started to shift ? Almost as if reality was...glitching...and you needed to close your eyes from the dizziness.
When you opened them again, his head was pressed against your gun.
“Don’t know where to aim ? I can tell you…” he said and the way his eyes darkened was a striking contrast with the tenderness he used to caress your cheek and you couldn’t help but lean into his palm, like you were not holding a gun at his face.
“Only the fiend's archnemesis can kill it…” he whispers with pleading eyes.
“...My dragon is…here”
“Sylus…”
“I curse your soul”
The words spilled out of your mouth…echoes from a buried past…
“Why Beloved ?” he asked in a broken voice, clearly lost in his own thoughts , closing his eyes as tears poured down your cheeks while you were unable to steady your hand.
“I curse your soul…to never fade away”
“Why would you do this to me ?” He asked, dropping to his knees, abandoning all pride as he laid his heart bare to you.
“You'll always be tied to me, forever”
“Why would you pretend we are not one ?”
“Only I can grant you a true death”
“I just want you back…Please come back to me…” he pleaded, ready to give you his life if you asked him.
Again

'Girl next door જ⁀➴♡ Chapter 1
In which Joel plays Cupid in order to help a hopeless Ellie win over the cute girl next door.
Series Masterlist!
prologue! - chapter 2!
"It's just Sugar"
w.c; 2.2k
[silly awkward Ellie Williams x fem reader!]
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/429688a06227f0dcfe35d90cf0a4b571/fa6657b630bf06be-23/s540x810/b9281b858d6a32888b6b31342acfbab2b952e19a.jpg)
"'Morning" Ellie said slowly as she walked into the kitchen eyeing Joel suspiciously.
"What's with the face?"
There Joel stood behind the kitchen island wearing a pink and white polka dotted apron with ruffles that he had “borrowed” from Maria and never given back. In front of him was a bowl of yellow cupcake batter.
“You never bake. You’re like, terrible at it actually.” Ellie said as she lazily made her way behind the island. Standing to his side she reached out her hand in order to dip her finger into the batter. Putting it up to her lips she licked it off while grimacing.
“Ellie, that's disgusting." Joel said furrowing his brows at her.
"That's disgusting." She pointed back to bowl looking up at him. "How do you mess up cupcakes?" She says before walking away.
"Hope you get salmonella." He said teasingly rolling his eyes as she heads to the counter picking up an apple "Salmo- What? Never mind actually I don't care." She says biting into it chewing obnoxiously while she's at it. "Who are we trying to poison with your awful baking skills anyway?"
"Y/N."
Ellie chokes on her apple coughing aggressively before spitting it out. She looks up at him bewildered.
"Why are you baking cupcakes for Y/N?" She spews out quickly furrowing her brows at him, confusion written all over her freckled face.
"Technically it's for her old man, he got a promotion last week. Thought it'd be nice to bring something to celebrate." He smiles smugly to himself as he continues to stir the batter.
Ellie blinked. "You couldn't have just bought a cake like a normal person?"
"Where's the fun in that?" Joel shrugged. "Besides, it's the thought that counts."
"Yeah, well, your thoughts are gonna give everyone food poisoning," Ellie muttered, taking another bite of her apple.
Joel ignored her, focusing on pouring the batter into the cupcake tin. "By the way I'm outta sugar. Think you can head next door and ask Y/N for some?"
Ellie froze. "Are you serious? It's just sugar, you'll live. What do you need sugar for anyway? You're already done." The pitch of her voice rising the more she continues to complain, trying and failing to be nonchalant.
Joel looked at her, a knowing smile playing on his lips. "I need to make frosting. Unless you wanna use salt instead."
Ellie sighed throwing the apple core into the trash.
"Besides, I thought you two were friends? Like 'ya said It's just sugar." He continued.
Ellie rolling her eyes looking up at him. "We are! Or- were. But that's not the point... it's just-" She looks around the kitchen trying to think of the right word "stupid." She huffs as she crosses her arms.
"Oh wow you think she's stupid? Well that's not nice of you."
"You know what I meant!"
"Ellie," He said softly reassuring her "It's no big deal."
"Yea but-" She started, then stopped. She knew she was overreacting but how could she not. Ever since the day Joel had brought up the idea of you being a potential love interest for her it seemed like you had taken over her every thought. She stayed up some nights thinking back to her interactions with you, overanalyzing your every word probably just convincing herself of something that wasn't there. If he had asked her to fetch something from your house a week ago she would have done it without a second thought, but now it seemed impossible.
"You're just borrowing sugar Ellie. You'll live." He says with a happy look on his face handing her a measuring cup.
"I won't but okay." She rolled her eyes begrudgingly reaching her hand out to accept it, walking over to put on her shoes and jacket. "And don't say 'borrow' as if we're gonna give it back, that makes no sense. What you should be giving back is that god awful apron..."
"Heard that!"
As she stepped outside the morning air was chilly and the sun was just starting to warm up the street. Ellie’s mind raced with a jumble of thoughts. It wasn’t just about the sugar or Joel’s baking, it was about you. As she made her way down the stairs she thought back to when you were both kids. Her skipping over to your house for dinner with her own dish to share, some Frankenstein contraption of anything good she could find in the fridge. You had always said you loved her cooking but now being older and wiser she knew you were just saying that to be nice, but still, the memory of you appreciating whatever she brought over made her smile. She'd bet money that you would play the same part when Joel comes over to give your family his gross cupcakes. She almost felt bad about the whole thing... almost.
The walk to your house felt longer this time around. Was it just because she was walking extra slow out of fear of knocking on your door? Maybe, maybe not. I mean c'mon, knocking on a girls door to ask for sugar that should be lightwork for her. Afterall, Ellie had been through hell and back over the years, what's talking to you gonna do? Like Joel had said, she'd live.
Now standing in front of your front door she took a deep breath. A part of her wanted to just turn around and go back to Joel measuring cup empty or hell just go to the store and buy some cupcakes herself, but she knew if she went back to him sugarless she wouldn't be able to look him in the eye. With retreating being off the table she decided it was best to just get it over with, sucking it up, growing a pair, and locking the fuck in.
Reaching her hand out to knock on your door she chose to ignore the way it slightly trembled. Once, then twice, then thrice, then- 'fuck is knocking 3 times too much? i'm being annoying arn't i' Seconds felt like hours as she waited for anyone to open the door, when suddenly
"Ellie! Hey, what's up?"
Ellie stood there for a second blankly staring at you as you greeted her. You were in your pajamas, hair still messy from your nights rest and eyes a little puffy. The morning sun shined on you making you glow and she couldn't help but think looked really cute. 'which isn't weird at all because it's totally normal to be able to admit that someone is attractive without there being any meaning behind it!' After you two had fallen out she never really took the time to observe how you changed, but now face to face really looking at you she could see just how much you've grown. You no longer had the babyface you had in all her memories of you two together, you had grown into it, you looked perfect actually now that she had thought about it. Pretty. But not like pretty pretty like pretty, like she could stare at your face for hours without needing to blink pretty. It felt weird to suddenly recognize all these differences at once but she quickly snapped out of it. She forced a smile, hoping it didn't look as strained as it felt.
"Hey, uh, Joel's trying to bake, and he ran out of sugar. Can we borrow some?" She cringed heavily at herself the moment the words slipped out her mouth. 'Borrow? Really?'
"Borrow? Really? I'll be expecting you to give it back then." You chuckled lightly teasing her. Little did you know that one little sentence just ruined her entire year. Ellie face whitened as she Internally freaked out, she felt her face heat up and her palms sweat.
Ellie chuckled nervously, tightening her grip around the measuring cup in her hand. "Oh, sorry, no, uh, I'm not sure why I said 'borrow.' You're right, that makes no sense. I mean, how does one even 'borrow' sugar? Like, do we measure it out and give it back later? Or do we just...?"
You laughed, shaking your head. "Ellie, relax. I was just messing with you. You don't have to return the sugar."
God how did she manage to make it even worse? "Oh, right. Yeah, of course. That makes way more sense. Sorry, I'm just... yeah." As she was forcing another smile she thought about Joel and how he was probably in the kitchen right now without a care in the world. She wished him the absolute worse in this moment, after all this was all his fault, him and his stupid cupcakes. In fact, she hates cupcakes now! He has officially ruined cupcakes for her and she made a promise to herself that she'd let him have it later... if she gets out of this alive.
You held the door open a bit wider. "You're welcome to come in. Here I'll take this from you." You smiled sweetly reaching out to take the measuring cup from her hands. You looked down at it once you felt how wet the handle was but you paid it no mind.
"Sure. Yeah, thanks." She muttered smiling softly as she followed you inside.
Once through the door she was hit with a wave of nostalgia. The familiar scent of your home, a mix of fresh flowers and something distinctly you, brought back a flood of memories. She looked around, noting that not much had changed. The same cozy furniture, old family photos on the walls, and the soft, inviting ambiance.
Ellie's eyes landed on a series of framed photos on a nearby shelf. She walked over, noticing one that showed you at around thirteen, smiling awkwardly holding up a peace sign. 'there's the face i remember', she thought with a smile.
You noticed her looking at the photos and came over, glancing at the one Ellie was staring at. "Ah, the awkward years," you said with a laugh, a painful expression on your face. "My mom insists on keeping those up for some reason, it's so embarrassing.."
Ellie chuckled, feeling a little more at ease. "It's not so bad. If it makes you feel any better I thought you were the coolest."
You grinned, nudging her playfully. "Get real." You said before walking over to the kitchen opening one of the top cabinets. "You were like the coolest of the cool. God I thought you were so badass Ellie." You laughed some more as you reminisced on your own memories with Ellie while on your tippy toes reaching for the sugar. To this day you'd never admit it but a part of you sensed a bit of pride for being Ellies first friend in Jackson. When her and Joel had first moved here she was like a breath of fresh air. Always knew what to say, always had some snarky comeback, she never took shit from anybody and she'd never know just how much she inspired you. Jackson seemed so quiet before she arrived, in the months you had been friends with her you seemed to have laughed more than you had in your entire life. She was like a firecracker but you had noticed that over the years she seemed to die out, just little enough for you to notice. It wasn't anything bad really, just what growing up does to people you guessed.
"That's because I was badass. But so were you." Ellie smiles, your confession of finding her 'badass' had made her a lot happier than she'd care to admit. She thought visiting you for the first time again would be awkward and insufferable just because of how you two had slowly fallen out, but talking to you again began to feel so casual. Ellie started to forget why she was worried in the first place.
"Ok well you weren't just badass, you were hilarious, smart, pretty, fun. Seriously El's, you were like everything."
There it was. Exactly what she was afraid of. Words from you that probably means nothing that will keep her up at night overthinking. You said it so casually, pouring sugar into the cup smiling. Ellie looked at you feeling her smile strain again. You were just being as sweet as always, no biggie.
"Thanks." In all honesty didn't know what else to say. She was flattered, of course she was, but she didn't know how exactly to take it so for now she chose to ignore it.
"Here you go," you said turning around walking towards her. You handed it to her with a smile. "Tell Joel I said good luck with the baking."
Accepting it she thanked you again as she let you walk her to the door. Stepping out she turned towards you again, "Oh, and congratulations on your dads promotion."
"Dads... promotion?"
The two of you stood there staring at each other blankly, progressively becoming more confused by the second.
"Uhh yea! Thank you Ellie! I'll see you around."
. . .
Walking through the front door Ellie let out a loud groan, wiggling out of her jacket before making her way to the kitchen setting the measuring cup on the kitchen island.
"Joel! I got your stupid sugar!" She yelled out for him.
Looking back to the island she noticed a note left for her.
took too long
went to the store to buy more sugar

"Ugh."

Vans Valentines - Lovebirds
Origins! Logan X F! Reader
Vans Valentines
A/N: It's almost 3 am that i'm posting this. Idk even know what happened. it's like I blacked out typing this. Ironically I started out not liking anything but I just kept going (just like them lol). You'll see when you see the word count. Theres next to no plot. just fluff and smut. I haven't even made the graphics for this yet but I really wanted to post this so I'll do it later. I love this btw.
Plot: It's Valentines day, and you and Logan can't keep your hands off each other
Warnings: Smut. So much smut. MDNI!, a lot of fluff too, established relationship, unprotected PiV, multi creampies, Oral (both f! and m! recieiving), fingering, car sex, kitchen sex, valentines sex, just sex in general, hair pulling, one (1) ass smack I think, petnames, babydoll is the most common, a guest appearance of certain character (he just showed up idk), there's no plot really. just fluff and smut. I'm so tired. probably grammer and spelling mistakes.
Word Count: 7355
You woke up to the smell of cooked bacon and fresh brewed coffee, wafting to your nose. You opened your eyes, sunlight beaming through the cracks of your curtain. Turning your head, you found the space that your husband filled by your side was empty.
You sat up, a small yawn escaping you as you stretched your back out, before pulling off the comforter and stepping onto the cold bare wood floors. A slight shiver ran down your back as you wrapped your arms around yourself- clad in nothing but a pretty slip on that Logan gifted you a while back, you made your way to the kitchen, following the warm aroma of food and coffee.
Stepping inside the small kitchen of the little cabin you and Logan resided in, you smiled at the sight of your husband. His tall frame at the oven, as he flipped slices of bacon in a pan. A plate of pancakes sat on the table, next to a bowl of sliced fruit.
You snuck up behind him, (although you know he does know you’re behind him, y’know, because of his surprior senses) Your arms wrapped around his waist, as you pressed your body into his firm self, hugging him tight. You could feel the rise of and fall of his breathing, bringing you a sense of comfort.
“Morning bub.” You heard his warm voice greet you, as he turned, shuffling around so that you were now facing each other. He looked down at you with a warm regard, fondness in his eyes and a small smile on his lips.
“Morning.” You hummed back, moving onto your tiptoes to press a soft kiss to his lips. He leaned his head down to meet you halfway, smiling bigger once he felt your lips on his. “Happy Valentine's day.” You whispered.
“It’s Valentines?” He asks in a mock surprise voice. You rolled your eyes.
“Mm. It’s literally the easiest date to remember.”
“Our wedding date is easier to remember,” He says warmly, wrapping his arms around you, pulling you against him. “Cause that was the best day of my life.”
You giggled, playfully hitting his shoulder. “Nu uh!”
“No, you’re right. The best day was when you finally put out.”
You gasped, shoving him again, feigning anger but he kept you close, chuckling warmly as he leaned down to bury his lips onto your neck. You bit your lip, closing your eyes and tipping your head back as you gave in to him, leaning into his body as he pressed open-mouth kisses over your neck and up to your jaw.
“Mm. I wish you didn’t have to work today.” You say softly.
“I know.” He mumbles, pressing chaste kisses to your lips.
“You should quit.”
He chuckles warmly. “Then who’s gonna pay to keep you spoiled?”
“I don’t need anything. Just you.”
He hums, pressing his lips to yours again, his hands on your hips pulling you closer. He then moves to kiss your cheek. “I figured I’d make you breakfast before I go.”
“You didn’t have to do that.” You say softly.
“Yeah I do. Gotta take care of my girl.” He says, moving to finish the bacon, putting the cooked pieces onto a plate with paper towels, soaking the extra grease. He lets go of you, moving across the kitchen to grab silverware while you grab the two plates he’d put out for you both, and begin serving the pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sliced fruit that he had prepared.
While eating, you reached over, swiping a bit of syrup off the corner of Logan's mouth, and he turned, grabbing your wrists and licking the syrup off your finger. You saw that look in his eye- the look that screamed trouble as he stood up from his seat- the chair screeching against the floor, and his lips crashed onto yours. Your seat screeched against the floor as you stood up, Logan swiped the dishes to the side- several of the dishes falling to the ground in a loud clatter.
“Logan!” You laughed, grabbing his shirt in an attempt to make him slow down.
“I’ll clean it up.” He mutters into your lips, picking you up and placing you on the table, slotting himself between your thighs as you messily made out, the taste of syrup lingering on your tongues and lips. His hands went under your slip-on, quickly pulling your panties off as he leaned you back down on the table.
“Lo, what about your hard work for this breakfast?” You teased me. “You should eat before work!”
“Yeah, that’s what I’m doing.” He mutters as he kneels onto the floor, spreading your thighs open and tugging you to the edge of the table. You gasped as his tongue licked a long stripe up your folds. He groaned, “Taste so damn good princess.” He mutters into your thigh.
He licked another stripe, before his tongue pressed to your clit, and you let out a moan, tipping your head back, spreading your legs wide as your hands gripped his hair, tugging it towards you and making him moan. You bit your lip, arching your back as Logan's hands came up to grip your thighs, keeping them spread as he made short work of you. His tongue rubbing practiced circles on your clit, just the right pace that had you panting, your heart racing as your pussy became soaked with his spit and your arousal.
He dipped down to your hole, sticking his tongue inside, making you clench greedily around the muscle, making him grin. “Feeling needy huh baby?” He coos as he pulls away. He let go of your thigh, and he stuck two fingers between his lips, soaking them with his spit. He pulled them out, and teased your entrance, circling it with his middle finger, before leaning up and giving your clit a few lazy licks as he slowly pushed his finger inside you.
“Lo-!” You whine, your hip wiggling, desperate for more as he slowly works his finger in and out of you, giving your clit small kitten licks that makes your entire body twitch.
“Feel good?”
“Mhm.” You nodded desperately. Tugging at his hair. “More, Lo, more please!”
“So polite.” He chuckles, his breath fanning over your pussy, and he works another finger inside you, curling them as he touches that spot that sends you careening. Your whines were music to his ears, as he continued rubbing that spot inside you, your legs began to tremble, and your nails dug painfully into his scalp. “C'mon princess. Cum for me.” He urges, before slotting his tongue over your clit, his lips wrapping around your bud and sucking.
It was all you needed to snap that thread. Your body froze, arching your back with your head tipped back, moaning “Logan Logan Logan Logan” over and over as your thighs tightened around his skull, and your pussy sucked his fingers in so tight he could barely pull them out. Fluids squirted out, flooding his face and hand, as he desperately licked every inch of you during your orgasm, moaning at the taste. Your body finally relaxed, as Logan stroked his fingers in and out of you a few more times, working you through your orgasm, and lapping up the rest of your juices.
Your body laxed, your limbs feeling a buzzing as Logan stood up, licking his lips. You attempted to catch your breath, barely noticing the sound of a belt being undone. You felt your legs being moved, placed up on his shoulders.
Your eyes snapped open when you felt his cock sliding between your folds. You squirmed, feeling overstimulated the way his cock bumped against your clit.
“Lo.” You whined, your hands falling to either side of your head.
“What? Gotta make sure you’re fed too baby.” He says, a teasing edge in his voice. You scoffed weakly, shaking your head. You felt his tip against your hole, as he slowly pushed himself inside you.
Two fingers were barely enough to prepare you for the size of Logan. Despite having been with him for years, the moment he pushes himself inside always makes your body melt as he stretches you open. Your hands reached down to grab him as bottomed out inside you, a harsh pant escaping you.
“Fuck.” He cursed quietly, waiting a moment, allowing you to adjust. “I can’t ever get enough of you darling.” He groans, his hands on your waist gripping you tighter, as he begins to thrust in and out of you, slowly.
Your nails dug into his hands, as you felt his length stretching you open as he began to thrust faster. “Oh Logan-” You moaned, biting your lip and tipping your head back. Your hips moved in time with his thrusts, overstimulation covered your body. He moved faster, pushing you down on him as he fucked into you. His hips slammed into yours, as he leaned over you on the table, your legs on his shoulders being pushed down to your chest.
His cock rubbed that delightful spot that Logan's fingers had touched moments ago, each thrust pushing you further and further over the edge once more. The kitchen table creaked with each thrust, making you wonder if you two were really about to break it. “Goddamn, you feel so good sweetheart.” He moans, his lips brushing over yours. Your lips pouted as you squeezed your eyes shut, pleasure racking through your body. “Fucking love that you’re all mine. This sweet pussy is all mine. Cmon, look at me.” He demands, as you open your eyes to look up at him. “Yeah, there she is. My pretty wife.” He grins devilishly.
“Logan” You whined.
“I know darling.” He coos breathlessly, his arm wrapping around your thigh as his fingers find your clit and begin stroking. Your vision went white, as you came for the second time, Logan fucking you through it as your body shook underneath him, until he grunted, slamming into you- his release coating your pulsing walls around him. “Aw fuck-” He hissed, letting out another guttural groan as he tipped his head back, his chest heaving as the last spurts of his cum filled you up. He carefully pulled out of you, catching his breath. He moved to kiss your ankle. “All full now darling?”
Still panting, and seeing spots in your vision, you rolled your eyes.
After the “quiet” breakfast, and cleanup, Logan had to leave for work
You met him at the door. He had on his usual ‘lumberjack’ look about him. His snug jeans, flannel, and vest were placed over him. He had his arm behind his back.
“You look handsome as always, baby.” You cooked. He smiled, looking down at you with his chin facing down. He pulled out from behind his arms a large bouquet- they were wildflowers, looking like something Logan must have picked from the surrounding forests. You gasped. “Lo! When did you do this? They’re beautiful!” You took the bouquet to sniff them.
“Before I made breakfast. I wanted to get you some roses but…”
“No! I love these!” You gave him a big toothy smile, adoring the way Logan arranged the beautiful flowers in the bouquet. You could picture him trying to arrange things perfectly in the way he’d know you like them. You’d been married for several years at this point, but he never fails to surprise you with his romantic gestures, and his dedication to making you happy. You leaned up on your toes to kiss his cheek and he smiled.
“I just wanted to give you something, even if we have plans tonight,” He says softly.
“Lo, you don’t have to do anything.” You say softly, “I’m happy with just you.”
“Hm.” He hummed looking down at you, getting that soft look in his eyes. When you first met him, he was a stoic, angry man. He didnt view the world with much kindness and for a good reason. You supposed that living for so long, and you see as much hatred and violence as he has, you’d be angry too. With time though, he became warm to you, and it blossomed into the romance you and him share now. He is and will always be the only one for you.
You share another kiss before he finally leaves. You sighed, already missing him as you watched the station wagon pull out of the driveway and down to the neighborhood street. You had plans for your Valentine's evening- plans to stay in, make a nice home cooked meal together, dance, maybe watch a flick- and then you’ll put on that sexy one piece you bought in secret that he doesn’t know about, and surprise him. For some people, that may seem like a boring Valentine's- but it was perfect for you and Logan.
You moved to get the chores done for the day and checked to make sure you had all the groceries for tonight's dinner. You checked your pantry and then walked into the kitchen- noticing Logan had left his lunch bag. You weren’t surprised, considering your proclivities earlier.
You decided you would take it to him from work. You went to get dressed, wearing a light pink mini dress with a v-neck live, that hugged your figure and ended mid-thigh, doing your hair up in the pretty style Logan always adored, and putting on some light makeup. You pulled on some boots, and a small jacket that matched your outfit. It was a bit more of a summery outfit to wear especially in Canada during February of all months, but you preferred looking cute for your husband than comfort at this moment.
You had the idea to write a small love note to stick into Logan's lunch. So before you left, you sat down at the table and wrote down some affectionate words for Logan to read, hoping that it’ll make him smile while he’s at work.
You went outside, jumping into his old truck as you drove down to his work. You drove up the long driveway, stopping at the small temporary building where several men stood chatting, turning to look at you arriving, as you rolled down your window.
“Hi, boys.” You greeted the men.
“You lost lil lady?” One asked, you read his nametag and recognized the name as one of the project managers. One of Logan's bosses. You shook your head
“I’m looking for Logan.”
“Oh, you’re Logan's lady-” The other popped up with a big grin. He had brown hair and a face that seemed like he was a sarcastic asshole and proud, you raised an eyebrow. “Nice to meet you, ma’am.” He says with a big cheesy grin. “You look very pretty today-”
“Likewise.” You cut him off, “Logan?” You ask. The manager nodded, pushing the other guy to the side.
“He’ll be coming back for lunch in a moment. If you wanna go to the park and wait for him. Shouldn’t be long.” The manager nods, you nod.
“Thank you-”
“Hey, hey- Listen if you ever get tired of the grump, come hit me up. I’m Wade.” The guy from earlier introduces himself, and he winks. You rolled your eyes but you couldn’t help your amused grin. Wade. You recall Logan complaining about him more than once. You put the back into first gear, driving out into a makeshift dirt parking lot, where you parked next to yours and Logan's other car- a simple station wagon.
You waited a few minutes before you climbed out of the truck, moving to go lean on the back of the truck, with Logan's lunch bag in hand. Soon you heard the sound of several trucks as they came down from the forests, and you caught sight of Logan's head of hair, making your heart flutter as you tried to suppress your grin.
He hadn’t caught sight of you yet, stepping down from the truck with ease, axe over his shoulder. You watched Wade bound to him and started talking to him. You couldn’t tell what he was saying- but Logan's expression filled with irritation. Logan suddenly looked surprised, his nostril flaring and he turned his head to look at you, and immediately his stoic and hard face turned soft and something you could only consider lovesick.
You stood up straight, a big smile stretched across your face as you gave him a little wave. The others noticed, and one wolf whistled at the sight of you - to which Logan immediately reacted. He turned towards them, a warning scowl, and you could hear Wade cackling. Logan shook his head, playfully threatening all of them with his axe before turning and practically bounding towards you while the other lumberjacks watched in amusement.
When he reached you, he immediately kissed you, passionate and intense. You’re not sure if it’s excitement from seeing you, or a possessive instinct to claim you in front of the other men. Or both.
Likely both.
“What are you doing here babydoll?” He asks softly.
“Forgot your lunch-” You hold up the brown bag. He smiled, leaning down to kiss you again, as he threw the axe into the back of the pickup, and an arm going around your waist to pull you close.
“And you got all dolled up to bring it for me hm?” He asks in a low voice as he presses his forehead to yours. “It’s too cold for that.”
“It’s Valentine after all.” You hummed. “Besides, I knew you’d keep me warm.” You flirted. He grinned, and he leaned his head back. You saw something lustful flash in his eyes. He stepped back from you, grabbing your hand and lifting it, encouraging you to spin. His jaw tensed, and he glanced over at the men who were all watching, amusement, and surely desire plastered on their faces. Logan felt a streak of pride knowing he got a pretty thing like you by his side. He considered himself a very lucky man. He smirked.
“Cmon, I have lunch for an hour.” He says grabbing your hand, leading you to the passenger side of the station wagon and opening the door for you. You settled inside, and he climbed into the driver's seat.
“Don’t you wanna have lunch around here? Maybe I can meet some of your coworkers.”
“No. I know a private spot where we could eat.” He says as he turns the car on. You laughed, shaking your head.
The next thing you know, you’re on Logan's lap in the back bench seat of the station wagon. His hands are sliding all over you, as he’s leaned back on the seat, his legs spread, forcing your thighs open.
He smelled like dirt and sawdust, and it was heavenly. You leaned forward, licking his bottom lip, begging to be let inside while he chuckled warmly, his hands sliding up your thighs and slipping under the hem.
“Look at you. All pretty.” He mutters slowly, his eyes trailing down you. His hands moved down to grope your ass, and you bit your lip to suppress a smile. “I count my blessings knowing something cute as you let me touch you like this.”
You felt your cheeks go red, and he chuckled. He pushed your ass forward on his crotch, encouraging you to grind on him. A small gasp escaped you.
“Weren’t satisfied by this morning Lo?” You ask softly, your hands reaching to hold onto his shoulders, as you begin to roll your hips over him. You could feel his hard length, threw his jeans, and pressed down against him. Your panties began getting soaked with your arousal.
“Baby I can never get enough of you.” He groans, his hand going over to the back of your neck and pulling you down towards him so he can capture your lips in a messy kiss. “Especially when you come all this way to make sure I’m taken care of. Making yourself all pretty for me. Fuck.” He licked into your mouth. Your arms wrapped around his shoulders as you began grinding over him desperately. He brought his hands down to his belt, quickly unfastening it. You reached your own hands down to help him out of his jeans faster.
He pushed the jeans down far enough for his hard cock to pop out. You bit your lip at the sight, your hand coming up to give him a few strokes, where he tipped his head back and groaned. You sat up on your knees, and Logan supported your waist, while his hand reached under your dress, and pulled your soaked panties to the side.
You lowered yourself down on him. You bit down on your inner cheek to avoid being too loud. While he pulled you into another searing kiss.
“C’mon, baby. Take care of me.” He moaned softly into your lips. His hands grabbed your ass again, encouraging you to start rocking your hips back and forth and you obliged. Lifting yourself up, all the way to where his tip nearly came out of you, before plopping back down into his lap, where he filled you to the brim.
You continued repeating his motion, slow and steady at first, before picking up the pace. Logan's hands cradled your ass, supporting you as you bounced on him. Your head fell to his shoulder, as small moans and whimpers escaped you.
“That’s a girl.” He mutters. “You’re doing so good. You look so good like this.” He praises. “Feel good?” His timber voice shooting straight through you.
“Mhm.” You bit your lip and nodded. You kept trying to go faster, but soon you felt yourself tiring out. Your thighs were trembling, and you felt like you couldn’t push yourself up anymore. “Lo…” You whined, looking up at him pleadingly.
“Getting tired babydoll?” He asked softly,a slight amused and cocky look in his eyes, and you nodded. He sat back in the seat. “S’alright. C’mon. I’ll take over.”
His hands went to your hips, and he began thrusting into you. As good as it felt to ride him, the way Logan fucked up into you felt even better. Logan somehow knew how to make you feel good better than you knew yourself. He angled himself, constantly pounding into you and hitting that spot that made your eyes roll back.
“C’mon, cmon baby cum for me.” He growls. The power of his thrusts shook the entire car. He wrapped one arm around your waist, while his free hand came up to tug the collar of your dress down, and then your bra, exposing your tit that he took in his mouth- still thrusting up into you. The car was filled with lewd noises of your connections, moans, and whines leaking through the windows that were fogging up from both your harsh pants. “Shit-” He grunted, grabbing you and manipulating you downwards, so your back was on the seat.
His arm is still protectively around your waist, his hips slammed into yours. He grabbed your leg, placing it over his shoulder, while your other leg pressed against his hip. The new angle sent waves of pleasure over you, as your hands clinged to Logan's flannel.
He was fucking into you so hard, you were sure the car was going to tip over by the way it was shaking. No wonder he drove 10 minutes down the road. He didn’t want to risk anyone seeing.
His lips crashed onto yours, and with a few more thrusts, you finally came. Your fluids soaked Logan's cock, splashing on yours and his pants as he continued thrusting, before finally finishing inside with a hard thrust. You felt his cum filling you up for the 2nd time today.
He collapsed on you, both sweaty and exhausted. He looked up at you, his hair was a mess, sweat beading his forehead, and his pupils were blown wide.
You couldn’t help it, as you started giggling at the sight of him, and he grinned.
“What?!” He asked.
“We are NOT going to look very discreet when we go back.” You laughed. He chuckled warmly.
“It’s none of their damn business anyway.” He leans to press a kiss against your shoulder, before sitting up and carefully pulling out of you.
He did his pants back up, before helping you up and helping you fix your appearance. You sat on his lap, and you grabbed his lunch bag, pulling it open and pulling out the sandwich inside. His hand massaged your back, as he pressed a soft kiss to your temple. You broke off a piece of his sandwich, bringing it up to his lips. He smiled, opening his lips and allowing you to feed him, as he chewed and looked at you pridefully, making you laugh.
After lunch, he drove back to the lumber sight, where you said goodbye to the truck. You gave him a kiss - which was interrupted by wolf whistles and calling by the men across the yard watching you both. Logan rolled his eyes, a shake of his head. “I’m gonna kill 'em.”
You chuckled, fixing his flannel a bit. “You’ll be off at 4 correct?”
“Yeah.” He nods. “See you then babydoll” He purrs, kissing your forehead, before opening the car door, holding your hand as you climb in. “Be safe.”
“You too. Love you-” You gave him one more kiss,
“Love you too.” He responds, and he shuts the door of the truck, watching as you drive away from the yard.
“Hey, loverboy, you guys have a nice lunch?” Wade calls out. Logan rolls his eyes as he turns around. “Your flys undone!”
Logan's face fell as he looked down, realizing that it was in fact- undone. He sighs, as his cheeks turned red, zipping his fly back up as he walked towards his coworkers, preparing for a week of ceaseless teasing.
Meanwhile, you run to the store to pick up extra groceries, the gas station, and you get the truck an oil change. It was typically Logan who took care of that - but you wanted to do something nice for him so he didn’t have to worry about it.
Going home, you finished your chores, showered, and changed into comfier clothes (at least until Logan got back…)
You spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and attempting to recover from the weakness in your legs that Logan had caused. You two had an active sex life, but Logan seemed particularly pent up today, and you could only imagine what tonight would bring - you just hoped you’d survive it.
The next time you checked the clock, you saw it was 3:40.
Logans going to be home soon.
You moved to start getting ingredients prepared, before going to put on something nice. Something a bit more casual than your earlier outfit, but still fitting for the evening. A pretty red sundress- just to fit with the Valentine theme, your hair was down, and a nice pretty pink lipstick.
You grabbed the gifts you got him. One was a box of very expensive Cuban cigars. He typically went for the cheaper ones, just to save money- but you stashed away some cash specifically for this gift. The other was a new leather jacket, the one he currently has was still fairly nice- but this new jacket was in a color he’d preferred but couldn’t find anywhere. Another was an engraved lighter, with yours and his initials engraved inside a little heart on the side.
The last gift was a necklace that looked like a compass, with the inside being a locket, and a small picture of you both. You were kissing his cheek. On the back of the compass was engraved “So you’ll always find your way back to me”
You wondered if it was too cheesy.
You wanted Logan to know how much you truly loved him though. Despite your obvious affections, things are always perfect. Logan struggles, nightmares, self-doubts, and even pushed you away in the past. You have your struggles that’s caused you to push him away. Somehow though, maybe through trust, you both made it through and stuck those times together. You truly felt that no matter what happens in the future, you and Logan will always be together.
You eloped about 3 years ago, after 2 years of dating. You met him when he was a soldier, fresh from Vietnam. He was rude, condescending, and incredibly handsome. Your perfect type.
Time went on and you grew on Logan. The way you always mouthed off to him when he was a dick, yet how you always supported him through the small moments of vulnerability that bled through, like when he drinks too much some nights and lets slip the things he felt about himself. He always thought you were beautiful, he felt it the moment you met- but fear, fear of hurting you, fear of getting hurt by you, kept him from asking you out. It was you who made the first move, and since then he's done nothing but adore you and make you the happiest girl on the planet.
You heard the front door opening as he stepped inside. Setting the wrapped boxes on the kitchen table, you went to greet him.
“Babe?” He called out.
You walked out into the living room, smiling happily at him. His face lit up, as if he hadn’t seen you most of the day already. It truly seemed like he could never get tired of you.
He kicked his shoes off, then shed his vest off and hung it up, before moving to greet you. His arms wrapped around you, as you wrapped your own around his waist.
“Hi.” You grinned up at him.
“Hi.” He chuckled.
“Work went okay?”
“Oh yeah.” He chuckled, and you hummed with humor. He elected not to tell you about his fly being down. Spare himself some dignity. “Are you ready for tonight?”
“Oh yeah, we’re partying hard.” You teased me.
“Somethings gonna be hard that’s for sure.”
You mock gasp, moving to hit him. “Perv!”
“Like you don’t love it.” He pulled you close. “I’m gonna take a shower, and we’ll start dinner, yeah?”
“Mhm.” You nod and lean up to peck his lips. “You need it.” You scrunch your nose, playfully pushing him off you, leading him to the bathroom, and pushing him inside.
He showered while you started getting dinner ready. When he was done, he came out smelling like fresh soap, something cedar. He took part in dinner, dicing the vegetables while you cooked some meat.
Soft music played in the background, and you two worked in silence, comforted in each other's presence nearby. The sound of Logan dicing vegetables on the board, and the meat simmering on the cast iron pan merely added to the relaxing atmosphere. When he finished dicing, he came over with the veggies, pushing them into the pan of meat- you quickly grabbed a slice of pepper and popped it into your mouth proudly while he raised an eyebrow at you.
You continued cooking while Logan went and set the table with plates, glasses, and silverware. Eventually, he came over, turning your attention away from the pan, and pulled you towards him, his hands resting on your hips as you both languidly rocked back and forth to the music.
“I didn’t think I’d ever get this.” He finally says. You raised your brows.
“What do you mean?”
“A life like this.” He nods to the room. “A life with you.”
You tilted your head. “Why not?”
“You know why.”
“You’re a good man Logan.” You say softly. “You've been through a lot. Maybe you did things you regretted but…It’s the past. You’re here, with me now.” You brought your hand to cup his cheek, and his eyes softened. “I couldn’t be happier. Nor prouder to be able to call myself your wife.”
His lips stretched into a smile, as he stepped dancing, pulling you into a tight embrace, where he buried his face into your neck. You hugged him just as tightly.
“C’mon.” You urged. “Let's eat, I’m starving.”
You ate dinner. Something with candlelights and wine and soft music. You and Logan held hands over the table, his thumb running soothingly over the back of your hand, and where your ring rested. You flung food at him with your fork.
After dinner, and the dishes are done, you both sit in the living room, prepared to give each other their gifts. Butterflies stirred in your belly, as you hoped Logan would enjoy the things he got. You begged him to open his first, which he reluctantly agreed to.
He started with the jacket, pleasantly surprised that you found the color he wanted, as he moved to put it on. Adjusting it a bit, and then smiling warmly.
“It looks good on you!” You say happily.
The cigars took him back more, as he observed them, and took a deep whiff of the scent. He sighed constantly. “How much you’d spend on these.”
“We agreed NOT to talk about budgets…” You warned. You were admittedly guilty of being a shopper, leading Logan to be strict about spending. He didn’t control your money, but he knew how to keep you from impulse buying. Holidays and birthdays are the things you both agreed he wouldn’t give you grief about. He chuckled and held his hands up.
“Alright alright..” He shook his head. He opened the next gift, the lighter. He turned it in his hand, observing it, and finding the engravings. A soft look came across his face, as his thumb softly brushed over your initials. “I love it babydoll.” He looked at it, turning to kiss you on the cheek.
“There’s…One more.” You bit your lip at the last box sitting on the table. He goes to unwrap, and his face falls as he observes the gift.
He pulled the necklace out. The compass wasn’t very big, about the size of a golf ball. He clicked open the pendent, revealing the inside compass, and the picture of you kissing his cheek. He let out a small breath, turning the necklace in his hand when he found the engraving. He swallowed hard, biting his inner cheek as he took a deep breath.
“This is…” He shook his head, staring at it. “I…”
You moved closer, resting a hand on his knee, before wrapping it around his arm and kissing his cheek. “I love you Logan Howlett.” You whisper to him. He turned to look at you, and for a moment you thought there were tears in his eyes, but he kissed you before you could confirm that.
He drew the kiss out as long as possible, before finally parting. “Thank you.” He says resting his forehead on yours. You brought a hand to his cheek, softly scratching his stubble. “Guess you’re ready for yours?” He asks. You giggled and nodded.
You adored your gifts, starting first with a frame of your favorite flowers, dried and pressed. A Howlett original. A necklace that you saw and adored in a vintage shop MONTHS ago and almost forgot about but Logan didn’t. A signed first-edition copy of your favorite book. Lastly, a booked trip to the city you always wanted to travel to.
To say you screamed at the last gift was an understatement.
The night eventually led to what you both knew it would.
Logan laid in bed, stripped of his clothes already- his hard cock straining as he watched you teasingly strip off your dress- revealing the lacey lingerie you planned to surprise him with. The illumination of the candlelights in the bedroom had only high-lighted your figure in a way that made you look like a goddess in Logan's eyes.
“Fuck.” He breathes heavily. “I thought we agreed on only 4 gifts, baby?” He quirked a brow as his eyes hungrily ran over your figure.
You smiled cheekily up at him, climbing onto the mattress and between his legs, resting on your tummy as you rested your cheek on his thigh, blinking innocently up at him. “You know I can never resist buying gifts.”
He hummed- which turned into a groan as he watched you press small chaste kisses up his member, leaving small lipstick stains. His cock jumped against your lips, making you giggle. You brought your tongue out, testing a small lick, and it throbbed again.
“You’re gonna be the death of me.” He mumbles. You bit your lip, taking your hand up to his cock, giving it a few gentle strokes, as you leaned down and licked at his balls, taking one into your mouth and sucking, popping off, before moving to his base, running your tongue around him. You were teasing him as much as you could, your hand held his tip- but did nothing to stimulate him. You turned to press kisses into his inner thigh, giving him a few more lazy strokes and he groaned. “C’mon baby, quit teasing.”
You grinned sinfully at him, staring into his eyes as you moved to run your tongue over the thick vein that ran up his cock. His hips involuntarily jumped forward at the stimulation. You fisted your hand on his tip, rubbing your thumb over it, smearing pre-cum all over your hand as you began to fully stroke his throbbing member. He let out a relieved sigh, tipping his head back as you stroked him faster.
You took his tip between your lips, running your tongue over it and moaning at the taste of him. You felt yourself drooling as you took him deeper into your mouth, spit dripping down your lips and his dick.
“You feel good baby.” He mumbled, his hand coming up and into your hair, moving you up and down his member. “Fuck.” He hissed, as you took him deeper into your throat, the tip of his cock hitting the back of it, and you angled your head to swallow him better.
You took him all the way down to his base, the coarse hairs that sat below his belly button tickling your nose, while your eyes watered from the pressure of his huge member inside your throat. A small gag escaped you as you lifted your head up, and then took him back down again, bobbing your head up and down, and stroking what you don’t fit. Logan grunted and moaned the entire time, his chest heaving as he watched you struggle to fit his entire length inside you. “You look so damn pretty like this darling.” He mumbles, his hand tightening around your hair. “Those pretty lips wrapped around my cock. Your lipstick all over the place-” he groaned. “Come on baby, you can fit me all in there again.”
He pushed your head down over him, and you gagged, choking on him again. Your thighs pressed together- your arousal becoming uncomfortably wet and slick between your legs, and your lace panties did nothing to ease the ache. His hand led you up and down his member at the pace he wanted- no, he desperately needed you to go. His hips subtly thrusting upwards into your mouth and down your throat, as your hands braced his thighs and your eyes rolled back, letting him use your mouth as a fucktoy.
He practically screamed your name, thrusting deep into you one more time as his hot cum came down your throat. Tears rolled down your face, as you struggled to breathe as he continued filling your mouth with his cum, small beads of it along with your spit rolling down your lips. You finally pull off, unable to take more as you gasp for breath, spit and cum coating both his softening cock and your chin.
You sat up on your knees as Logan sat up, reaching over and pulling you onto his lap, messily kissing you, and groaning. “I’m going to fuck the shit out of you.” He mumbles into your lips. You nodded, desperately needing him now.
He pushes you down onto the mattress onto your belly, lifting your ass into the air. You licked your lips clean, as he stroked himself, getting hard all over again. You really did love his regenerative factor.
His thumb teased your cunt, pushing the lacey panties that were soaked through with your arousal, and circled the entrance. “Fuck, you’re soaked princess.” He mumbles. “I bet I can slide in you no problem. You love sucking my cock don’t you?”
You nodded dumbly into the mattress, and he pressed his tip against your hold, teasingly pushing inside and pulling out, sliding in between your folds. You wiggled your hips, a small whine escaping you.
“You don’t like the teasing now hm?” He growls.
“Mm-mm.” You mumble into the blankets, arching your back, desperate for him to fuck you. He ran his cock through your folds again, before he slipped inside your greedy hole, and slammed into you with one thrust. “Oh!” You yelped, mouth agape in an O shape as your thighs quivered, attempting to adjust to his size for the 3rd time today.
“I’ve fucked you multiple times today and you still feel so fucking good baby.” He groans, his hands smacking against your ass, his nails digging into your skin. “I just can’t get enough of you doll.”
“Mm..Mhm..” You nodded dumbly into the mattress, desperate for him to move, your hips started rocking back and forth.
“God, you love this cock don’t you?” He mumbled, and you nodded again, a warm chuckle escaping him. “Yeah, I know you do.”
He began thrusting in and out of you, pulling all the way out from the tip and slamming back into you. He grabbed your hips, pushing you back onto him with each thrust until you could meet his pace.
“Logan…” You moaned into the sheets, barely able to think. He was right, you’d think by the 3rd time you’d be used to it, but every time he fucks you- you turn dumb, unable to think about anything other than his cock railing you. He leaned over you, one hand digging into your hip, the other reaching into your hair, tipping your head back, making you whine loudly.
Your ass bounced with each of his thrusts, a rhythmic smacking sound heard throughout the room, alongside yours and Logan's thrusts. His nails dug into your lingerie piece that it started to rip- unbeknownst to either of you.
“You’re squeezing me so tight doll, already about to cum?” He hums. You nodded, that tight string in your belly felt like it was going to snap at any moment. Logan adjust his angle- fucking into just right, that your eyes rolled back- and you couldn’t even moan as you came over his cock. “God, I love you-” He tipped his head back as you felt your pussy squeeze around him.
Logan hissed, you squeezed him so tightly in your orgasm it was almost painful, and caused his control to snap. Your greedy pussy clenched around him, pulsing over and over as he grabbed your hips with both hands, and pounded into you with gritted teeth, before cumming inside you with a loud yell, and a snikt!
You were barely conscious at that point, not registering the familiar sound of his bone claws escaping his fists, and tearing into the fabric of your comforter and mattress.
He collapsed over you, his breath fanning over your back. Both your bodies are covered in sweat. He retracted his claws, as he brought a hand to your shoulder, pulling your up, with his cock- still hard- and still buried inside you.
“I’m not done with you yet babydoll.” He mutters into your ear, sending shivers down your body as you could feel his cum leaking down your thighs. He kissed your cheek. You managed to catch your breath enough to turn your head towards him.
“I love you too-” You say breathlessly, and he caught you in a searing kiss. “Happy Valentines-” You add as he pulls away, moving to manhandle you into another position.

Cruel Fates (Part 2)
Pairing: Azriel x f!Reader, little Eris x f!Reader
Summary: Azriel is your mate but only you know it. You are very aware that he has eyes for someone else and thus you decide not to hide it forever. After all, what could go wrong right?
Warnings: Angst (I don't think I can ever stop myself from writing angst.)
Based on this ask.
4.1K words
Part 1 | Part 3 | Part 4
You found yourself aimlessly wandering along the banks of Sidra after storming out on Rhys. The ambient noise enveloped you—the rhythmic splashes of the river against rocks, the bustling chatter of the market, birds chirping in the background. Everything felt mundane, yet strangely comforting. Ignoring your problems wasn’t a solution, as Rhys had pointed out, but it was undeniably easier than facing or even acknowledging them. Nevertheless, you had resigned yourself to the current state of affairs.
Using distraction as your shield, you returned home burdened with bags filled with new books, clothes, and other unnecessary items. As you entered the elegant two-story building you called home, a sense of familiarity and solace washed over you. This palace had become a sanctuary, a reflection of your own essence.
Closing the door behind you with a soft thud, you were greeted by the familiar scent of citrus and jasmine. Setting down the bags, you kicked off your shoes. The silence of the house stood in stark contrast to the lively atmosphere of the market. Just as thoughts of Azriel slipped from your mind, your senses sharpened, recognizing the subtle hum of shadows.
"Ah, the shadow singer. Ever heard of knocking or privacy?" you quipped, though you didn’t need to turn to know it was him.
"I'm a spymaster; it's not in my nature," he replied with his customary soft smile.
Refusing to let your gaze linger on him for too long, you busied yourself by fetching a glass of water.
"How can I assist you, Azriel?" you inquired as you filled the glass in the kitchen beyond the hall where he stood. You still felt a distance from him, not quite comfortable enough to address him as Az like your sisters, Feyre or Elain, did.
"Can't I simply enjoy your company?" he teased, his voice gentle.
Turning away, you closed your eyes for a moment, mentally reminding yourself to compartmentalize. "He's just being polite," you repeated to yourself, trying to drown out the nagging voice in your head that reminded you of Elain's constant talk about him. "He treats Elain the same."
You scoffed, hoping it didn’t come across as too rude. "Yeah, sure. Now, what brings you here?"
"We're expecting Eris to arrive in a few hours, around sunset. Rhys wanted me to ask if you've changed your mind."
Ah, you had forgotten about the impending meeting with the prince. You sighed. "And Rhys couldn’t ask me himself because?" It was a rhetorical question, but Azriel seemed unaware.
"He mentioned that you two had a disagreement, and he wasn’t sure if you'd be open to talking."
"Of course, I'll talk to him. I’m not a child," you replied, your brows furrowing. "And yes, I still intend to attend that meeting."
Azriel nodded, his expression unreadable as always. "Good to know. In that case, he asked me to inform you that you’ll have to deal with this meeting on your own, there are some crises with an Illyrian camp that he had to attend to, and he is running late.”
“Oh,” A part of you was glad that Rhys let you handle this, “It’ll just be me then?”
The spymaster shook his head, “Of course not, I’ll accompany you.”
You nodded as you were unsure of the right response, “Is there anything else I should know before I meet Eris?”
Azriel paused and started slowly, “My shadows tell me he wishes to overthrow his father. But it’s difficult to know what’s the truth.”
“Ahh, that’s why Rhys put me on this.” you realized as Azriel nodded in response.
You wondered why Rhys requested you accompany him to a meeting with Eris. The powers you got from the cauldron were unique. Your ability ranges from slowing a person's pulse to snatching the air from their lungs as long as the target must be in your line of sight. You can command human organs and regulate emotions by releasing certain chemicals in the body. This allows you to induce suffocation by removing air from someone's lungs, controlling blood flow, causing heart attacks, dictating heart rhythm, and slowing healing. Aside from being extremely valuable in a battle, you can also act as a living lie detector, by monitoring a person’s physiological response.
“Alright, I’ll be there, is there anything else?”
Azriel looked like he was about to say something before he muttered a no.
“You know better than to lie to me, what is it?”
He signed before he finally asked, “I knew that you and Rhys got close in a short time but I didn’t realise you were close enough that he trusted you to handle a meeting alone. That too with Eris.”
“Honestly, I didn't know either.” you said, “Rhys and I connected so quickly that it felt like I had known him for years, he is the older brother I never had. I am glad that he trusts me to handle this.”
You noticed a strange emotion flash in his eyes for a quick second before he gave a soft smile “I am happy for him, I am glad he found a friend in you, y/n. Cassian and I may be his brothers but he still doesn't confide in us completely, he is too afraid to burden us. Feyre and you are good for him.”
You returned his smile, “We all need someone to lean on.”
“Well, Is there anything you need assistance with before then?", he asked.
You shook your head, dismissing any further conversation. "No, I'll manage. Thank you, Azriel."
He lingered for a moment, as if debating whether to say something else, but ultimately turned to leave without another word.
As the door clicked shut behind him, you couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment. It wasn’t directed at Azriel, but rather at yourself for the walls you had built, preventing anyone from getting too close. Yet, at the same time, you couldn’t bear the thought of letting those walls crumble, leaving you vulnerable to the possibility of rejection. Aside from that, even if he did feel the same way, how long will it last? That too with your newly immortal lifespan? You have witnessed true love fall apart in a short time in the human lands. How would it not end in anything but pain in the life of an immortal? If there was one thing you knew for sure, it was that to love, is to destroy. Not telling Azriel was the best option for yourself, you were not going to invite pain to your doorstep.
With a heavy heart, you retreated to your room. You knew that sooner or later, Azriel would find out but for now, you allowed yourself the temporary respite of distraction.
Later that day, the anticipation of Eris's arrival hung heavy in the air as you prepared for the meeting. Despite your best efforts to focus on the task at hand, thoughts of Azriel and the unresolved tension between you lingered at the edges of your mind.
As the sun began its descent, casting hues of orange and pink across the sky, a knock at the door signalled Eris's arrival. Taking a deep breath to steady yourself, you made your way to the entrance, your heart pounding in your chest.
Opening the door, you were met with the sight of Eris standing tall and imposing, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips. His eyes, a striking shade of amber, sparkled with mischief as he took in your appearance.
If you were to describe him, you'd call him the living embodiment of fire.
He was the light to Azriel's dark, they were opposite in every way possible.
“Well, well, well, if it isn't the infamous Y/N," he drawled, his voice smooth like silk. "I must say, you're even more captivating in person."
You rolled your eyes at his flattery, though you couldn’t deny the flutter of excitement that his words stirred within you. "Save the charm, Eris. It won’t work on me."
He chuckled, stepping closer until there was barely any space between you, the air between felt charged, "You wound me, darling. I assure you, my intentions are nothing but genuine."
Before you could retort, Azriel appeared beside you, his presence like a sudden gust of wind that left you breathless. Though his expression remained neutral, you couldn’t shake the feeling of tension radiating from him.
You did miss how Azriel's heart rate was unusually increased, while Eris' remained stable calm and genuine, just like he mentioned before.
“Eris," Azriel greeted with a nod, his voice devoid of warmth.
"Az," Eris replied, his smirk widening as he used Azriel's nickname. "Always a pleasure."
The air crackled with unspoken tension as the three of you made your way to the meeting room. Eris's gaze lingered on you, his eyes flickering with a mixture of curiosity and desire that sent a shiver down your spine as you all took your seats.
“Imagine how surprised I was when my high lord told me that you had requested a meeting with the night court.” you began holding the prince’s eyes.
“I had requested to meet Rhysand but I am not complaining. You are far better to look at.” Eris said with a smirk that never seemed to leave his face.
“I'll inform him that you were pleased by the arrangement.” you replied with an earnest smile.
Maybe this could be fun, you thought.
Maybe you found Eris fun.
As Eris seemed to give another flirty retort, Azriel spoke.
“Why are you here?
“Ugh! You are no fun Azriel. It’s not like you don't know already.”
You raise your brows at him, asking him to elaborate.
Eris obliged, “I want to…” he seemed to pause choosing his words carefully, “relieve my father from his duties and be the high lord of Autumn court.”
You couldn’t help but snort a laugh at his words, “‘relieve my father of his duties’? My, my, whatever happened to daddy's loyal boy?”
You caught the slight upper tilt of Azriel's lips just as your powers detected the slight rise in the pulse of Eris before it slowed down again.
“Apparently he's not as loyal as you thought.”
“How can we trust you?”
“Who are you kidding, princess? I'd be a fool not to know about your interesting powers.”
“Fair enough, what does the night court have to do with this?”
“Help me, to get rid of my father, support my claim as the high lord.”
“Why would we do that? We’d then be replacing one monster for another.” you shot back.
If your words affected him, he showed no signs of it, physically at least, but the small spike in his cortisol levels and the drop in his pulse told you your words hit their mark.
Eris's smile tightened ever so slightly, but he maintained his composure, leaning back in his chair with an air of practised ease. "I can see why you might think that, but I assure you, I'm not my father. Unlike Beron, I see the value in alliances and mutual benefit."
Azriel crossed his arms, his eyes narrowing. "Convincing words, Eris, but words are cheap. What do you have to offer in return for our support?"
You couldn’t honestly remember when was the last time you had heard him speak this much, or if you had ever interacted with him for more than a few words.
Eris's gaze flickered to Azriel, then back to you. "Information. My father is planning something that could have catastrophic consequences for all of us. He's been working with a human queen—one who has a vested interest in starting a new war between our realms."
Your heart skipped a beat, a sense of dread settling over you. "Which queen?"
Eris's expression grew grave. "Queen Briallyn. She's amassed a formidable army and is working with my father to create a weapon that could tip the scales in her favour."
You exchanged a glance with Azriel, whose stoic expression betrayed a flicker of concern. "What kind of weapon?"
"One that can manipulate the very fabric of magic itself," Eris replied, his voice low and serious. "It could render even the most powerful High Lords and their courts defenceless."
Azriel's eyes darkened. "And you have proof of this?"
Eris reached into his coat and pulled out a small, intricately carved box. He placed it on the table and opened it to reveal a collection of documents and maps. "These are the plans and correspondences between my father and Queen Briallyn. Everything you need to verify my claims is right here."
You leaned forward, scrutinizing the documents. The meticulous detail and undeniable authenticity left little room for doubt.
You sighed passing the letters to the shadowsinger. "Just when we thought Prythian had a moment of rest."
Eris met your gaze, his expression was earnest. "Our courts need to work together."
You considered his words, the weight of the decision pressing down on you. It was a risk, but the potential consequences of inaction were too dire to ignore. "Assuming we agree to help, how do you propose we go about it?"
Eris's smirk returned, though there was a determined glint in his eyes. "We can meet regularly and update eachother with what we know and proceed from there."
Azriel's gaze remained fixed on Eris, his expression unreadable. "And what guarantees do we have that you won't betray us once you have what you want?"
Eris leaned forward, his amber eyes burning with intensity. "You have my word and the knowledge that if I betray you, I'll be signing my own death warrant. Beron would kill me in a heartbeat. I need this alliance as much as you do."
You took a deep breath, weighing the risks and benefits. Finally, you nodded. "Alright, Eris. We'll discuss this with our high lord and get back to you. But know this—if you betray us, there will be nowhere in this world you can hide."
Eris inclined his head, a genuine smile tugging at his lips. "Understood. Now, I've always been curious about your powers," he began, his tone light but laced with genuine interest. "I've heard rumours, but I find that firsthand accounts are always more... enlightening."
You arched an eyebrow, meeting his gaze with a guarded expression. "Have you now, Eris? And I’m not in the habit of revealing my secrets to just anyone." Your powers were not publicized much, you and Rhys decided it was more advantageous to keep it quiet. But they weren’t a secret either.
Eris chuckled, the sound warm and inviting. "Ah, but I'm not just anyone, am I? People talk about you being able to control the very essence of life itself. Now, that sounds rather impressive, don't you think?"
You chuckled softly, crossing your arms. "Rumours tend to exaggerate. I'm sure the truth is far less exciting."
Eris took a step closer, his gaze never leaving yours. "Is that so? From what I understand, you can manipulate the body on a molecular level. Imagine the possibilities... and the danger."
You shrugged, feigning nonchalance. "Dangerous, perhaps, but only to those who give me a reason to use it."
His eyes gleamed with amusement. "Fair enough. But tell me, how does it work? Do you just think about it and—poof—someone's heart stops beating?"
You gave him a sly smile. "If I told you, I'd have to kill you. Or at least give you a nasty headache."
Eris laughed, a rich, warm sound that filled the room.
Eris's expression grew more serious, though his smile remained. "You know, Y/N, there's something else I've been thinking about.”
You looked at Azriel and joked, “Look at that! You have certainly been thinking a lot recently, haven’t you Eris? Looks like you’ve been having a lot of thoughts.” You were surprised that Azriel gave a small smile from the way he had tensed this entire meeting, waiting for a chance to pounce on the Autumn prince.
Eris widened his smile at your comment as he continued, “Here’s my proposal, this alliance between us... it could be more than just a political arrangement."
You tilted your head, intrigued despite yourself. "Oh? And what exactly are you suggesting, Eris?"
He leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "I'm suggesting a union between our courts, a marriage of sorts. Think about it—together, we’d hold so much power."
Azriel lost all his self-control as he whispered in a deadly calm tone, “You have gone insane.”
You laughed softly, shaking your head. Your powers silently rush to soothe Azriel before he does something reckless, "You certainly don't lack ambition, I'll give you that. But why on earth would I consider such an arrangement?"
Eris's gaze softened, and for a moment, you caught a glimpse of something deeper in his eyes. "Because I believe we could be unstoppable together. You're powerful, intelligent, and, if I may be so bold, quite captivating. With your abilities and my resources, there's no limit to what we could achieve."
You felt a flicker of something—curiosity, perhaps, or maybe even the faintest hint of intrigue.
“Too bad you were already mated, if only he knew”, you thought to yourself.
A slow thought crept into your mind, “So what if you were mated? Nothing was going to come out of it anyway.”
"Captivating, am I? You do know how to charm, Eris. But you'll have to do better than that to convince me."
Eris's smile widened, his eyes gleaming with determination. "Consider it, Y/N. Imagine what we could accomplish together. The Autumn Court and the Night Court united as one. We could bring peace, prosperity, and a new era of cooperation to our people."
You studied him for a long moment, weighing his words. There was no denying the potential benefits of such a union, but there were also risks—trusting Eris was a gamble, and one you weren't sure you were ready to take. Thoughts of what he did to Mor screamed in your head.
“I didn’t forget your past with Morrigan, Eris. You still expect me to agree to this?”
His eyes narrowed at that, “Morrigan knows the truth of what happened that day. Ask her for the entire truth.”
Confusion bloomed inside you at his words but you did not have time to sort through lies now, Azriel was too agitated and you were left with an important choice to make.
"I'll think about it," you finally said, your tone careful. "But don't get your hopes up, Eris. I'm not so easily won over." you slipped a mask of playfulness again.
Eris chuckled, rising from his seat with a graceful fluidity. "I wouldn't expect anything less from you, Y/N. Just promise me you'll keep an open mind."
You nodded, a small smile tugging at the corners of your lips. "I'll keep an open mind. But remember, Eris—if you cross me, you'll regret it."
He inclined his head, his expression earnest. "I wouldn't dream of it. Until next time, Y/N."
With that, Eris turned and left the room, leaving you alone with your thoughts. The idea of a union with Eris was both tempting and daunting, and you couldn't help but wonder what the future held for the two of you—and for your courts.
The room settled into an uneasy silence. You could feel the tension radiating from Azriel beside you, a stark contrast to his usually calm demeanour. His jaw was clenched, and his shadows seemed to writhe and twist around him with a life of their own.
You turned to face him, concern etched into your features. "Azriel, what's wrong? If I hadn’t calmed you Mother knows what you’d have done to him!"
Azriel’s eyes, usually a cool and controlled shade of hazel, now burned with a fierce intensity. "What's wrong? Are you seriously considering his proposal, Y/N?"
You blinked, taken aback by the intensity of his reaction, you have never seen this side of him.
"It's not as simple as that, Azriel. We have to consider all options if we want to ensure the safety of Prythian."
He took a step closer, his voice low and filled with barely suppressed anger. "Eris is playing a dangerous game. A union with him? You can't seriously think that's a good idea."
You met his gaze, your own frustration bubbling to the surface. "I'm not saying I'm going to marry him tomorrow, Azriel. But we can't dismiss his proposal outright. There’s the potential benefit—"
Azriel cut you off, his voice rising. "Potential benefit? He's manipulating you, Y/N! He wants power, and he’ll use you to get it. Do you really believe he has anyone's interests at heart other than his own?"
You felt a surge of defensiveness, your own anger flaring in response. "And what if he does? What if this alliance could actually bring about the change we need? We can’t afford to let personal grudges cloud our judgment. He meant everything he said today, not a single ill-intended thought!"
Azriel’s expression darkened, his shadows growing more agitated. "This isn't about personal grudges. This is about trust, about loyalty. Eris has proven time and time again that he can’t be trusted. And now he's proposing a union with you? He’s trying to bind you to him, Y/N. To control you."
You took a deep breath, trying to steady your emotions. "I know it’s risky, Azriel. But we need allies. We need every advantage we can get if we're going to take down Beron and stop this war."
Azriel’s fists clenched at his sides, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "And what about your own safety? What about the risk to you? I can't stand by and watch you put yourself in danger for a power-hungry prince who will betray you the first chance he gets."
Your heart ached at the raw concern in his voice, hope threatened to manifest in you but you shoved it aside and held your ground. "Why do you care, Azriel? I can take care of myself. I’m not making any decisions lightly. I just need to consider every option."
Your words cut through the air like a sharp blade, and for a moment, Azriel seemed taken aback by your response. His gaze softened, his expression filled with a mixture of frustration and hurt.
"Why do I care?" he repeated, his voice barely above a whisper. "Because you are like Rhys’s little sister, you are one of us. Because I can't bear the thought of anything happening to you."
Though a part of you was glad he cared but you scoffed in disbelief, “Right. Because I am important to Rhys. Well, this decision is mine to make and I will discuss it with Rhys as it concerns his court. I’ll be sure to take what you feel into consideration. Thank you for your input, Azriel.”
His gaze hardened, a flicker of something unreadable passing through his eyes. "Fine. If that's how you want it. But have you ever stopped to consider the possibility that you might have a mate, Y/N?"
The question hung in the air like a heavy weight, the implication sinking in with a sickening certainty. You felt your breath catch in your throat, the blood draining from your face as you struggled to comprehend his words.
"What if you have a mate out there, waiting for you?" Azriel continued, his voice soft but filled with an undercurrent of pain. "What then?"
You recoiled as if struck, the weight of his words crashing down on you like a tidal wave. The truth, the painful, unbearable truth, threatened to drown you in its depths. A dry, joyless laugh came out of you.
"I don't have a mate," you spat out, your voice trembling with rage. You lied without a second thought. The ease of it scared you. "And even if I did, it's none of your damn business, Azriel. Stay out of my life."
With that final, venomous retort, you turned on your heel and winnowed out of the room, leaving Azriel behind in a cloud of anguish and regret.
As you fled down the empty corridors of the townhouse, your heart ached with a pain you couldn't name.
You opened Rhys’s study door without a second thought and sighed in relief as you found Feyre and him.
Realization of what truly happened spread through you like a bolt of lightning hit you. Both of them were quickly at your side, worried and asking you questions. A single tear slipped as your voice broke,
“Not telling him was one thing, but lying to him? Oh cauldron, what have I done?”

Boys' Home - Part 3
Part 1 | AO3
Simon worked the rest of the day with the guys, hauling out as much junk and stripping back walls as much as they could before dark fell. They would be buying a generator and more tools the next time they were in town. The sun had started to dip in the sky. Before Soap and Gaz hopped in the car with Price to head for the hotel for the night he asked them to look into you.
“I’m staying back to observe tonight. I don’t like that a woman that young has four boys.”
Soap put up a hand before Gaz could ask the question clearly in his face.
“You got it. We will bring breakfast for you in the morning. Come on Gaz. Let’s go.”
Soap knew him well enough at this point to know that kids were a hard line for him. He would explain it to Gaz. Simon turned and jogged into the twilight stealing trees and followed the trail to the edge of your yard. He settled in until the darkness left the only light seeping from the windows.
He watched you in the kitchen, windows cracked to let a breeze through the old house.
A boy’s voice followed you around as you shifted and spun around the kitchen, presumably to get dinner ready. The fourth time you ran into the boy you yelled.
“Seth!”
The boy jumped and Simon straightened, ready to get involved. To his surprise, you covered your face with your hands and took three deep breaths. That done you moved your hands to your hips and looked at the boy.
“I am sorry for yelling at you, that wasn’t cool of me. I would love to listen to you but right now I need you out of the kitchen so I can finish getting dinner ready.” Simon is wary of your calm and even tone.
“But why did you have to yell at me?” The boy has tears in his voice.
You let out another breath and glance at the ceiling. “Do you remember how I told you that my parents hit me as a kid?”
“Yeah,” Seth sniffles.
“They also yelled at me. So sometimes when I get overwhelmed my brain does something that it thinks will fix the issue before I can get ahead of it.” You pause looking at the boy. When he nods you continue. “That is sometimes why I ask for space when I am angry because my brain is saying that hitting will make the problem stop but you and I both know that won’t fix it.”
“Right because that is not kind and hitting people makes bigger problems.”
“Correct. Now, can I sit down with you after dinner and listen to you tell me about your Minecraft world?”
“I guess.” Seth sounds dejected even from across the yard.
“Do you want a hug, a wave, or a high five?”
He sighs big, “A hug.”
You pull the boy in instantly, hugging the boy who reaches your shoulder tight. He returns the touch before disappearing further into the house. Simon watches you, narrowed in on the movements he can see from the distance he has.
Pulling your hair tie out of your hair you redo your bun, somehow making it look worse than before. Leaning both hands on the counter you talk to yourself.
“Okay, we only have a few more hours until bedtime. You can do this. You love your children. You will love them more in the morning when everyone has had some sleep.”
Distant plinks have your shoulders drooping in defeat. You turn to face the interior of the house and shout.
“Boys! You clean those marbles up! I told you to stop sending them down the stairs, that can break them!”
A chorus of ‘Sorry Mom’ reaches Simon’s ears. He doesn’t know what to think of you. Every opportunity for compliance via punishment with your children had been met with honesty and empathy. He wanted to walk away now, his skin stretched too tight across his bones.
Simon watched for hours. You bit back more yelling and apologized to more of the children while gently guiding them through their routine. Shower, brush teeth, bed, no you don’t care if you take a tablet to bed they will all turn off at ten, yes even in the summer. When at last the only lights on in the house belonged to the kitchen Simon watched you pour yourself a drink and slid into a chair just beyond the reach of the kitchen light.
You stared into the darkness, eyes sweeping over him again and again. When at last your glass is nearly empty you set it down to the side of your chair. Scrubbing your eyes you talk to yourself again.
“The first week is always the hardest. They will get back into the groove of summer soon. We are going to Costco tomorrow. That will help with their jitters out. We can get a Lego set and the muffins. Yeah, that sounds like a good plan. Hot dog and a drink for them and then they should pass out on the way home and play outside until dark so I can finish pulling the lathe out of the top room.”
You continued to mutter to yourself as you gather up your glass and head inside. Simon watches you drift through the house by the change of lights on the windows. When you finally settle he decides that must be your room.
Seeing no better option Simon turns the chair you had used to stare into the forest to face the house, settling in to doze for a few hours.
He opens his eyes because a light has turned on in the house. Must be a bathroom light, the small window positioned between the two rooms in use. After the light flicks off your shadow against the darkness traces through the house. After placing a basket on the back step you shut the door and head back to bed without turning on any lights.
Curious Simon lets you settle before he creeps up to the step. He smells it more than three steps away. One of the boys had peed the bed.
The only time he had ever felt this discombobulated before had been when as a boy he had been tossed from a horse. His grandfather’s neighbor had a horse in the field next to the house. No one had told Simon the old mare would rather murder than nurture. She sidled up the rock fence and let him climb on her back before taking off like her ass was on fire.
The wind had been knocked out of Simon and he stumbled home. Thinking about it now he is sure he had a concussion from how hard he hit the ground. He cuts off the train of thought before he has to relive the memory of his father coming to drag him and his mother back. That would be the last time she tried to leave her husband.
🍎🍏🍎🍏🍎🍏🍎🍏🍎🍏🍎🍏🍎🍏🍎🍏🍎🍏🍎🍏🍎🍏
Soap delivered on his promise of breakfast. Gaz brought a change of clothes and a pack of wet wipes. Price only delivered him a shake of the head before heading inside.
“What did you find out?” Simon asks as he wipes the back of his neck. He had already removed his shirt and would be cleaning himself up the best he could before starting another day of tearing out walls.
“She’s got a killer playlist,” Gaz offers.
He and Johnny both look at Kyle.
The man catches their stares.
“What? You said check her out, you can learn a lot about a person from their music choices.” He settled the new tool belt on his hips and continued, “She has all the kids legally, is listed as their legal guardian with the state. Can’t figure out how they ended up with her since none of them have original birth certificates, just delayed ones.”
“House was an inheritance, and she is a teacher at the local school like she said. She teaches science and auto shop.” Johnny adds. “What did you learn last night?”
Something in his stillness must alert them. Both men pause their respective tasks to look at him.
“She doesn’t hit them.”
Kyle and Johnny glance at each other before settling back on him.
“She apologizes when she yells. One of the kids wet the bed in the middle of the night. There was no screaming or hitting, took less than ten minutes to get the kid back to bed, and the laundry settled for later.”
Simon stretched his pecs before stretching his shoulder blades, trying to dislodge the pain between them.
“Huh,” Kyle looked at the ground, crossing his arms over his chest. “Didn’t know that was an option.”
Johnny ran a hand over his mohawk, jaw working back and forth.
“If you grannies are done gossiping there is work to be done in here,” John yelled out from the second floor. He effectively filleted the tension that had risen in each man.
They didn’t pick the conversation up again until Price had taken his turn in the shower at the hotel. Every bit of your life that had been recorded in an accessible way had been poured over. They were looking for what witchcraft made you a better single mother to four boys you didn’t birth than any of the biological parents that beat and ruined the three men who ran from their problems with bullets and tactical vests. They didn’t find the answers they were looking for.

“Why did you kiss me?”
“Because, you’re the only one who stayed with me.”
LUCIFER MORNINGSTAR X GN! READER
FLUFF❤️/ SLIGHT SUGGESTIVE/ BAD GRAMMAR
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f21182d0368b45359590e240c48d8535/f6e1c0b47d6a376e-28/s540x810/82c342176170637726e5b50955d2b1ba7fc825cc.jpg)
YOU WOKE UP in bed with Lucifer as you found the king of hell holding you close to his body as soft breathing was heard of the sleeping king. You stretched a little not wake up Lucifer as he mumbles in his sleep, “stay…with me…I need you…” the mumbles were cute as you smile at him softly.
You turn into a black vapor over to the side of the bed to stretch your wings and body. You are still pretty much tired but you have to go meet Charlie since you told her you would be there quick. You walk to the bathroom to get out of this cute cunty vibe robe without knowing that Lucifer woke up not feeling your body.
Lucifer touched the spot you were only to have tears in his eyes.
Did he dream of you being by him?
if so what was the dream so long. He misses you already like an abandoned puppy. He didn’t know if it was real or not as he lays on his stomach facing nothing, only the headboard of this bed you slept on with him. He wipes his eyes as he looked at his hand, his eyes widen to have seen the duck ring.
So it was real…
He was stock to say that you actually did stay with him that day as he blushes kissing the ring. He’s hate to admit it, but this could be the wedding ring of both of you and him if he decides to have balls and ask you. His thoughts stop as he hears the bathroom door open to see you exiting wearing his color scheme on an outfit that was quite formal.
“Good morning Luci.” You said with a smile as your voice was like honey to him and he was the bear. He loved your voice even if you didn’t think your voice was special. He smiled at you as he walks over and hugs you, nuzzling his apple like scent all over you as you just smile patting his back.
“Good morning my angel!” He said as he lifts you up with ease as you grip his shoulders. You were shocked to say that Lucifer never did this to you before. But he must be in a good mood to have done this. You just smile at him as he Carries you to the kitchen with a soft hum. As he hums you smile just getting use to his presence as it been so long you two masked in each other. He sits you down on one of the dining chairs as he goes to make pancakes.
You remember how he use to make pancakes with Charlie and you. It was such a lovable memory in your head as you check your phone to see Angel dust worried about you with 16 messages and 20 missed calls. Charlie called you 1 time and left 27 messages. Alastor left you 1 message as vaggie has send you 12 messages. Man your friends had missed you.
Lucifer broke your train of thought with his famous pancakes as he smiles that toothy charming smile everyone knows and love. He kisses your forehead showing you this new affection that was brought upon the two of you last night.
You both ate in comfortable peace as you two share a piece of bacon and just chatter about today and what will tomorrow bring. You could’ve sworn he kept staring at your neck as you just glanced away from him awkwardly as you look at you watch.
“Ah man..I gotta do Lu.” You said as you got up. Lucifer also got up in a hurry thinking of how to keep you here longer. But he knew he couldn’t as his daughter depends on you too…so it sucks as he nods with a frown. He goes over to you and smiles, “okay. Just be safe on the way out.”
You chuckled at that as you just nod and hold his arm, he looks at his arm as he kisses your hand up and then he kisses you on your lips. Making you surprised, your eyes widened but soon fell into the kiss as he puts his hands on your waist and you put your arms around his neck with a flustered face. He lifted you as you wrap your legs around his waist as he leaves your mouth and go down to your neck, nibbling and biting as he licks your neck up and down.
He couldn’t help himself but feel to claim you somehow as he places you on the dinning table of the kitchen. He kept biting as you wince gripping his shoulder. He bit you so hard you bleed without noticing, but he notice. He licked your neck, cleaning of the blood as he slightly whimpers looking up at you with his demonic red eyes.
“Did a kiss really get him that excited?” You thought as you lift his chin only for him to purr and move closer to kiss you more to the point you both won’t take it.
But you still had to help Charlie, so you push Lucifer’s head away with a smile. “Ah ah, can’t do that sir. I have to do tend to your daughter now. I’ll be back soon Lu-Lu.” With a final kiss to his eye with he whimpered rubbing his face on your neck. You got off the table dusting yourself and wiping the left over saliva from Lucifer on your neck. “Love you.” You said as you left the palace.
Lucifer stands there alone with his demon tail wagging with a derpy smile as he just excitedly.
“YES! THEY SAY THEY LOVE ME!! THEY’RE FINALLY MINE! TAKE THAT DEPRESSION!”
—
TIME AS PASSED as you check your phone to see love messages with hearts on them from Lucifer. This man is certainly high off your kisses from earlier as he is literally kicking his feet on his bed thinking of you. But you wanted to say something about the kiss so you started to text him.
Lucifer saw your text bubble as he brought his phone close to his face with a wide smile to see your text. This boy is whipped badly as he smiles waiting.
“Why did you kiss me?” You had asked over text as Lucifer stops smiling thinking of the most realistic answer ever as he nods and texted you back with a smug face.
“Because, you’re the only one who stayed with me.” He texted back with a flushed expression.
After that, you two started to text everyday. Sending love messages and everything to check up one and another.
Lucifer was finally happy.

Smoothie Chapter 1
Started a fic based on this post. Enjoy!
.
The doors of Long Now creaked open in front of Danny, and he walked in, murmuring thanks to Long Now. The doors closed again behind him, and once they did, Danny could hear the wonderful sound of Observants shrieking for Clockwork to do something emanating from the Viewing Hall.
He sighed, disappointed. Most of the time, when he visited Long Now, he didn’t come for any specific purpose, but today he’d hoped to get some help on a history paper (he didn’t even know where to start, and it was a whole ten percent of his grade by itself) and to get a snack (his parents had forgotten to get groceries earlier in the week, and the nearest grocery store had been trashed by a ghost fight, so it was unlikely they’d get any today, either). With the Observants yelling at him, it didn’t sound like he’d even be able to hang out with Clockwork.
The Observants would probably throw a fit if they noticed Danny here, too. He glanced back at the doors, but Long Now had, rather coyly, in Danny’s opinion, not only barred them but maneuvered a pair of large gears and a stout chain over them.
It looked like Long Now wanted him to stay, anyway. He looked up. For some reason, he always felt a little more comfortable addressing the huge clockwork mechanism at the center of the lair as Long Now, even though Long Now was the entire structure around him. “I don’t suppose you have any snacks I can eat?”
Danny thought he could probably find his way to the kitchen on his own… But also that it would be a bit rude to wander in and eat Clockwork’s food like that without asking. If Long Now gave him permission, though…
The gears in the walls moved, sliding open a door on the other side of the entryway. Danny grinned. “Thanks!” he said, quietly.
He followed the movement of gears and chains through narrow hallways until he reached a small, but well-appointed vaguely modern kitchen. At first, Danny couldn’t see a refrigerator, but then a door swung open invitingly, and Danny realized that Clockwork had a walk-in fridge.
Cool. Literally.
He snickered at his own joke, then stepped up to the doorway. “It is okay for me to take some of this, right?” he asked. The door didn’t slam in his face, so he took that as a yes. He went in.
Clockwork’s (cavernous) fridge, as it turned out, was as meticulously arranged and organized as the rest of Long Now. Each kind of food seemed to have its own dedicated and labeled space. Wandering, Danny read Rampion - Witch’s Garden on the shelf under some salad, Turkish Delight - Charn underneath some odd, long, squarish blocks, and Pomegranates - Stygian Shores.
He puzzled at the labels for a little while, before he realized that they must be - what did Sam call them? - cultivars. Cultivars of different kinds of plants. Ghostly cultivars? They looked interesting. Maybe later, he could ask Clockwork if he could bring some to Sam, she liked that sort of thing.
In the meantime, though… He looked around at all the fruit on the shelves and a bucket labeled Spirit Ice - Far Frozen and decided. “I’m going to make a smoothie,” he told Long Now.
There was a rustle outside the fridge, and Danny peeked out to see that a blender had been deposited on the kitchen counter. He grinned and went back inside to find his ingredients.
The ice first, of course. Then, he needed some fruit. He started to browse. What looked good…? The pomegranates, Sam said they were good for you, and he'd liked them when she gave him some. Then a bowl of Snow-Ripe Strawberries - Three Dwarves’ Cottage. The Immortal Peaches - Kunlun looked good. He'd have to peel and pit them before putting them in the blender, but he'd have to prepare the pomegranates, too, so it wasn't an issue. Ooh, he wondered how good Orange - Clockwork Nirvana of Mechanus tasted for Clockwork to put his name on it. Although that might just be a coincidence. Then, Fairy Apples - Autumn Court rounded out his selection.
That was probably enough to make a decent smoothie, but he’d really like some milk, or maybe a banana, to make it thicker. He scanned the shelves again. He hadn’t noticed any bananas, but he was sure he’d seen milk. There! Looking Glass Milk - Wonderland. It even looked like whole milk when he sloshed it back and forth in its glass container, which was better for this kind of thing than skim milk.
He carried his loot back out to the kitchen proper and pulled out a cutting board and knife so he could get everything prepared before he tossed it in the blender. He’d wash up as soon as he was done.
First the ice (a little hard to chip into useable chunks, but his own ice powers helped), then he opened up the pomegranate by cutting off the ends and scoring the sides so he could peel them away (and he didn’t make the kitchen look like a crime scene, so take that, Sam). He brushed off the seeds into the blender. They looked kind of cool, the little seeds sifting down between the larger chunks of ice. Then, he plucked the stems off the strawberries and cut them in quarters before dropping them in (that always made them blend a little better when he was at home). He decided to juice the oranges, rather than dropping in whole slices, since the skin of the sections might not blend well. That left the apples, which he cored and cut into little chunks, and the peaches, which he dithered over. He’d never actually peeled a peach before, but although he didn’t mind the fuzzy outside when he was eating slices, he didn’t want the little hairs in a smoothie. Eventually, he decided to just go for it. It didn’t matter how mangled the pieces were before they went into the blender, after all. Finally, he poured the nice, thick milk over the whole thing, filling in all the nooks and crannies.
Danny made sure the blender lid was securely fastened before he started to pulse it. He’d made the mistake of not checking once before. Thankfully, any large kitchen mishaps at home could be blamed on the hot dogs, so he’d gotten out of that without getting in trouble.
Soon, the contents of the blender were a nice, smooth, thick, pink with a few dots of darker colors here and there. He found a glass big enough to hold the smoothie in one of Clockwork’s cabinets, then poured it in.
On the other side of the kitchen, a door creaked open, and Danny, holding the smoothie, investigated. The room on the other side was the cozy little dining room that Clockwork sometimes served Danny tea in.
“Thanks,” Danny told Long Now again, before finding a seat. He’d drink his smoothie here, then clean up the kitchen, and if Clockwork was still arguing with the Observants… well, Danny should probably go home at that point… He sipped his smoothie. Oh, that was good. He took another, deeper gulp.
The smoothie was very good, in fact. One of the best he’d made, if he did say so himself. All of the flavors balanced perfectly, and the temperature and texture were just right. Although they might not be for someone who wasn’t a cold core ghost. The good thing about having ice powers was that he never got brain freeze anymore.
Leisurely, Danny drank his smoothie. He didn’t trouble himself to drink it very quickly. He wanted to stay long enough for Clockwork to finish with the Observants. He at least wanted to say ‘hi.’
But by the time he finished the smoothie, Clockwork was still nowhere to be found. He sighed and carried his empty cup back to the kitchen. What he really wanted to do was find a comfortable place to curl up in and go straight to food coma land, but he really couldn’t leave Clockwork’s kitchen like that.
He put the blender in the sink to soak a little (he should have done that before, but he’d forgotten), then washed the cutting board and knife. There were some crumbs in other parts of the kitchen - and those were not from him - and a few places were dusty, so Danny wiped those down. Long Now helpfully produced a broom and dustpan, and Danny swept the floors as well. Then, he went back to the sink and started taking apart the blender.
The door of the kitchen swung open and Clockwork flew in, shoulders tense and tail flicking with agitation. He made a beeline directly for Danny.
“Oh, hi!” said Danny, raising the pitcher part blender. “I was just cleaning up–”
“What did you eat?” asked Clockwork. He didn’t sound mad, exactly, but there was an urgency in his tone that put Danny immediately on edge.
“A smoothie?”
“With what in it?”
“Um, some of the stuff from your fridge,” said Danny, gesturing with the blender. “Some milk, ice, and fruit?”
“What exactly?”
“Um,” said Danny. “Snow strawberries, eternal peaches, a pomegranate, a clockwork orange, fairy apples, and… I think that was it? And the milk and ice.”
“Show me what you took,” said Clockwork.
“Okay,” said Danny. “I’m sorry, Long Now opened the door, and I asked if it was okay, I didn’t mean to take stuff you were using later…”
Clockwork’s lips had gone very thin, and Danny could see wrinkles spread out from the corners of his eyes and mouth as he aged forward.
“Sorry,” Danny said again.
“It is not your fault, but I must see what it is that you ate.”
Danny nodded and went into the fridge. He pointed out each place that he’d taken something from, even the ice and milk. He had gotten some of the names wrong, but he was pretty sure he got everything.
However, with each thing Danny pointed out, Clockwork looked more and more stressed. Even when Danny had just taken one fruit out of a whole basket.
“I’m sorry,” repeated Danny, tapping his fingers together nervously. He didn’t entirely understand what he’d done wrong, but it was clear he’d screwed up. “I don’t know these cultivars, but I can get you new fruit from the store or something?”
Clockwork turned to him, face grim. “These labels are not cultivars. Rather, they are not only cultivars. They are the places they come from. These pomegranates from the River Styx are the brothers and sisters of the one that bound Persephone to Hades for half the year. The apples are the ones that the fae of the Autumn Court use to trap people in their realm. The orange carried with it some of the Laws of Mechanus, although I do not know how those will behave exposed to the other fruit. None of these things were for eating. They are dangerous and powerful things those Realms have given me as gifts.”
“Oh,” said Danny, feeling very small and stupid.
Clockwork rubbed the bridge of his nose. “If the Observants had not blocked me, I never would have allowed Long Now to even show you this room.”
“What’s going to happen to me?” asked Danny. “Should I try to throw up or something?”
“No,” said Clockwork. “It is far too late for that. As for what will happen… If it were only one or the other of them, then the effects would be clear. There would even be some precedent for eating one then another. But when you ate them all at once, all blended together… He shook his head. “Regardless, you cannot be left bound. We will have to negotiate for your release.”
“Release?” asked Danny, feeling queasy.
“From the obligations you incurred by eating those things. Some of them, I think, will not be so difficult. Others… There are some things I must put into order before we can leave. Stay here. And do not sleep.”
Clockwork left the way he’d come, leaving Danny alone in the kitchen once more. There was something smug about how the door latched itself.
“You tricked me,” said Danny, reproachfully.
The ticking in the walls sounded like giggles. He didn’t receive any other response.
With nothing else to do until Clockwork came back, Danny finished washing the blender.
