so my prediction is decaying/corrupting world. something about the world is falling apart. maybe gravity changes? blocks getting replaced? shrinking world border? idk exactly but i feel like this would be fun for a couple of reasons

a sense of finality to the season. it has to end here because the world is literally falling apart

a deadline. its got to be tempting for the cc's to drag out the last session and try and gear up/prepare/get enough content. this puts a hard clock on the season

as much as ive been enjoying grinding out ranked games in Marvel Rivals with my brother, there is a blindingly obvious issue with the way the game handles competitive skill ranking: you gain more ranked points for a win than you lose for a loss at every skill level regardless of your individual contribution to that game. this, on top of every fourth loss straight up not counting below Diamond, results in the objective observable fact that you can get to Grandmaster or even Celestial with a 48% winrate if you grind out a few hundred games. obviously this is not something that should be possible in a system aiming for accurate skill rankings and matchmaking.

this already results in a lot of downstream issues, like Diamond being ranked limbo for dumbasses with more ego than Elo and no positional awareness or tech skill to speak of, but the funniest result is definitely the pure unadulterated copium produced by the people benefitting from this system (i.e. players who would be hardstuck metal ranks in any other game). "you only get rewarded more for a win than you get penalized for a loss if the system thinks you deserve to be in a higher rank based on your individual performance" wow it's crazy i mean neurodivergent how the system thinks literally every single player ever belongs in a higher rank than they currently are because EVERYONE ALWAYS gain more for a win than they lose for a loss at EVERY RANK. "the negative winrate is because they lost a bunch at first and then got better and started winning enough to rank up to GM without ever getting the overall number above 50%" i am going to assume you don't understand how statistics work because the alternative is that you're lying for fun.

going into a personal ramble about my year under the cut. im mostly just talking to the void but feel free to read if you want!

this year has been. wow. if i had to put the definition of an emotional rollercoaster it would be this year for me

so much happened, yet so much DIDN'T happen simultaneously?? i don't really know how to think tbh 😭 i think above all i'm relieved it's over and i get to (hopefully) have a fresh start again

i got a lot accomplished this year. i graduated and got a degree which is a huge thing!!! i went for and accomplished lot of difficult things i had to do that i wouldn't even think about considering last year, and i feel my mental health has been beyond improved from it. last year i took note of how i consistently put myself in a box to make others happy, and i noticed i significantly improved in regards to how i see myself and made sure to put my own health first. there's still MUCH more to work on, god, and i've still been struggling with it, but i've been taking steps and that's all that matters to me. i want to continue taking better care of myself next year

on the downside though.. a bunch of personal stuff i had no control over happened in july and to put it in a way, i was scared for my life. it's settled now, and even got better, but i haven't been that terrified in a very long time. it was so difficult for me to cope with and i'm very grateful it's not something to worry about anymore, but i would be lying if i said i wasn't scared for what horrific event next year will bring for me. i noticed the past few years, something awful happened that made me seriously question, doubt or even straight up hating myself :') and i'm not looking forward to experiencing that again next year in the slightest. but at least, i'll try to get better at it

i've felt pretty disappointed and unhappy with my art this year as well, for whatever reason. it was mentioned to me that it could just be burnout (i HAVE been drawing more consistently than i ever have throughout this year, especially due to college, which makes sense) but whatever i try to do experimental-wise, i just can't be happy with it. i think the major reason is the way i've been shading, because i might be instinctively holding myself back. i don't want my art to be too eyestrainy or give people headaches by looking at it obviously, but i feel like as a result i've been making my art feel too "muddy" for my liking. so! i decided one of my new years resolutions will be to be way more spontaneous with the way i use colors and try not to put that box on myself. one thing i can say is, i tried a Lot of new things with art this year, including working on complex backgrounds, putting in way more effort into pieces enough to be full illustrations, etc etc. and i hope to break a ton more boundaries next year too. regardless, i can't thank you enough for your continued support. it seriously means a ton to me. i know i repeat myself a lot but i always mean it

hopefully 2025 will bring us more kirby too! we haven't had a full year without a new kirby game since 2021, and even then forgotten land got revealed! so i get the feeling something HUGE is coming. also looking forward to pokemon legends z-a too (im insane over it). and the hypothetical manager magolor plush. <- copium.

You know, this is definitely old news, but to this day I'm -still- so bothered by Marinette's behavior in Ephemeral. Not even the part where she conspired to secretly expose Chat Noir's identity to a third party without his knowledge or consent (cute). It's what she said to him during, to convince him to reveal himself; she tricks him into thinking it was something they were doing together, and thus takes advantage of his trust in her and how much their bond means to him (transcript below for context):

Is it just me, or is this not one of the most blatantly manipulative things she's ever done? To honest, I find it disgusting. She says all these things she knows he wants to hear, and doesn't mean one word of it. On the other hand, it's blatant that she doesn't "feel awkward" as much as she's making an excuse to get him to reveal without having to herself (she doesn't want Viperion to know her identity, too, after all). Meanwhile Adrien is being put into a vulnerable position and arguably actually feeling awkward himself (seriously, when you watch the episode you can hear it in his voice). It's just...gross. And for what?

This is Lila levels of manipulation, but worse, because it's our supposed "heroine" who's acting this way (and I hold her to higher standards, yes, because hello, actual superhero and intended role model here?). Which is fine if it's treated as an actual flaw she learns from, but no. Of course not. She will never face real repercussions, or learn from this, because oh hey, turns out this never happened (and no, her realizing something went wrong with her plan in the end does not automatically mean she regrets her plan to betray his trust, or that she even realizes she was doing so). And our one saving grace, the one chance of this being addressed in any meaningful way, was Chat Noir's expression at the end of the episode, where it's clear he knows she's keeping something from him (he saw Viperion in the sewers, after all). But this never go anywhere, actually. They'll let him be frustrated at the secrets for one brief moment in Strikeback, before she has a panic attack and he drops it all, never to be brought up again.

And so many people seem to gloss over that she never actually apologized. All she did was berate herself for being the worst guardian ever, and then immediately accept Chat's pep talk, which includes a bit about how she's the "best superhero there ever was." At this point, I'm starting to think she has a point about being the worst, actually. Maybe she should lose her memories, transfer the guardianship to Alya, and get therapy. I'm not even mad at her, I'm mad at the writers for constantly pushing it in my face that she's the "best" when she's demonstrably...not, multiple times over. She doesn't need to be the best! It's not like she can't be impressive without being The Best TM, my god. But anyways. She could put her money where her mouth is and come clean about Ephemeral and other things, but no. Of course she hasn't.

And now as of season 6 we have him genuinely praising her as 'the best version of herself,' so no, his expression at the end of Ephemeral meant nothing in the end, actually, and she got away scot-free, being disgustingly manipulative without having to make amends or apologize or anything. All she had to do was cry.

I'm currently drinking major copium myself, hoping all or some of her secrets come to light (including her plan in Ephemeral, which, oh yeah, he still doesn't know about), wherein he rethinks the whole 'best version of yourself' thing and feels rightfully betrayed.

Because what the fuck, Marinette.

So yeah, I'm still bothered by Ephemeral.

Maybe Ephemeral wouldn't keep being so topical if Marinette's utter moral failures in that episode didn't keep getting ignored by the show. It's like the writers are counting on people to forget about it ever happening so that they can pretend Marinette isn't ready to shamelessly manipulate Cat Noir with every vulnerability he’s ever revealed to her. Until she, of course, does it again and the fandom will act like it's completely new and out of character, and the writers will take advantage of that to act like it's not a pattern of behavior by now and really is just a single, momentary lapse of judgement she shouldn't be judged for. But, like, those of us who remember know that all Marinette needs to manipulate Cat Noir with no hesitation is 1) a reason to do so 2) an assurance that she won’t get caught.

Marinette is a dishonest person. I remember reading someone talking about ‘Reverser’ and they said that, in that episode, Marinette couldn’t even help another person approach someone without her plan having an element of deceit to it. That just stuck with me. And now she’s being pitted against Lila, the person the fandom dubbed “Liar-la” because they thought she was the bigger liar based on very little. They’ve really amped up Lila’s liar game since with her multiple mother scams and such, but, like, considering how unironironically they have Marinette acting just like Gabriel, I don’t think the “liar versus liar, whose lies will bite them harder” parallel is going to amount to anything in the show.

BELIEVE IN THE SIGN OF ZETA

Wow what an episode and alot to ramble, so yes this will be disjointed. First off, Macchu is privelaged and alot of people have mentioned that. What I dont think people have mentioned is how clan battle and the idea of Shuji loving her has got her to isolate away from her parents and the good life she had and because she's isolating herself, she gonna be alot more vulnerable to manipulation from other adults. She's not gonna have this good life for any longer, with all thats happened this episode, Macchu is gonna learn the horrors of war soon herself and be scarred for life. Same goes for Nyaan, whose in an even worse position than Macchu due to her being a trench kid living in a tiny apartment with no parents or any adult who gives a shit about her. Of course she maybe manipulated if it means survival or even some affection of love, something she craves which is why I believe she loves the idea of Shuji. She wants love she desperately craves. Chailla and Annqi's negotiations, we are seeing the seeds of war be planted as they discuss the fact the construction is to prepare for war. Chailla and Annqi also seem to know eachother somewhat considering their reactions and mannerism when negotiating for the GQux. also BASK OM GTFO... if you're here, please dont tell me that purple haired shithead is coming too cus the fear of god is put in me considering the writers also worked on a show with a purple haired shithead who did awful manipulative things to kids also. Aight back on track. Gates from Zeta is also here, a character I remember giving zero fucks about cus the Rosamia arc of Zeta is lets be honest, trash and really brings down Zeta's last ten episodes but perhaps Gates can be a much better character here cus he's not living in the shadow of repeated plot points. We also got a new cyber newtype, hello Deux.... we already have a grave prepared for you but you're cute and gonna see alot of fanart I suspect. But from what we can gather, Cybernewtypes are being developed just like in main UC but likely with lower budgets and lower tech available since Zeon won the war and the Federation are renmants atp. and the Murusame lab is where they're being made, Four likely also exists then. Perhaps evidence we may get Kamille and Fa later in the story. (Copium cus my faves are Kamille... if it wasnt obvious) It also seems Zeon hasnt been willing to fix the destruction the war they caused considering the city Gates and Bask were revealed to us in are in ruins. I haven't anything to say about Shuji this episode except he seems art is likely the one thing that is an outlet for the true shuji to use. I dont think he's a cyber newtype though, way too mentally stable by the standards of Cybernewtypes. Then we have good ole Useless Xavier, the babygirl of the year for real. Can we keep him alive just as a joke atp but Xavier is now getting distrustful of Chailla and for good reason considering how in the dark he and the crew are kept about everything. Then we have Chailla saving him with a jetback and shotgun and you gotta wonder how Chailla knew where Xavier was and to come with equipment to save him at just the right time... perhaps this was a set up to keep Xavier dependent on him. (Who knows, its just very coincidental unless he has a tracker on that poor boy) Next episode, we're finally get into more usual Universal Century battles with alot at risk now with Shuji, Nyaan and Machu in danger and the Psycho Gundam getting piloted meaning the Izuma Colony is gonna have major casualties. This is the turning point, we're gonna see the war spark next episode and my theory is, we're gonna see the GQux go fucking berserk like EVA Unit 01 would. (and I do wonder if I can try ediitng The Beast into that fight next week if I'm correct) Sorry this was majorly disjointed.
