I feel like soo many people don't understand the aesthetic potential Severus Snape has. Like this man it's described looking like a giant bat, wearing all black and long flowy capes, and moving like a spider. Speaks in a low, soft voice but it's very sarcastic and quite cruel. He spends most of his time in a dungeon in front of a cauldron, has mind-reading like powers and a fascination for the Dark Arts.

He's literally an old fashioned Disney villain, the Addams Family distant wizard cousin, a goth mad scientist straight up from a Burton movie.

the young lieutenant had been held up in the alchemy commission since returning from his fight aganist blade and dan heng with slash wounds and small bruisings. the bruises easily healed but the slash wounds were so sharp and deep that they reopened freshly healed wounds that boy sustained from running around the luofu, fighting abominations and the mara-struck as well as going toe-to-toe with the previous sword champion. his injuries healed quickly just like any native on the luofu and therefore yanqing usually didn’t need to stop and rest as most of his wounds healed within the time it would took for him to head to where he was needed next and resolve any issues along the way.

this time however.. it was highly requested for the boy to stay put as the injuries created by the attacks from blade were quite drastic and could have ended his life if not treated right away. this resulted in the young lieutenant to be bedridden for what felt like an eternity but likely was just an hour or two.

it made him feel so.. useless. just laying there..

unlike dan heng, visiting the general wasn’t at all an indecisive dilemma. in fact, it was more instinctive- a no-brainer if you will. there had been no question about it upon seeing the man arrive in the alchemy commission. he simply had to be there by his side and no amount of nagging from the healers or alchemists would have stopped the boy. most of the people on the lufou understood that there was this unspoken father-son type of bond between the two though and thus the healers and alchemists allowed yanqing to visit his master while reminding the boy that he had his own injuries to worry about. seeing how much closer to death the general had been simply fuelled the need to do something within the boy.

therefore upon spotting dan heng - after yanqing’s visiting hours were decidedly over and his injuries had pretty much healed up for the most part -, the boy was quick to keep a close eye on him. he wasn’t going to allow him to just slip through this time even if dan heng’s aide had been key to defeating a great threat to the lufou. that wasn’t enough to wipe clean his criminal accord- breaking out of the shackling prison for one not to mention the list of heinous crimes that were committed under the name of dan feng. there was no obvious or distinct difference between this reincarnation and his previous life form to the mind of a fourteen year old child. dan feng dan heng? potato tomato.
