#like watch the first two seasons of jjba

Not that anon but personally I don't care about lore unless it's actually important to the fic and confusing me. I always look up character names to see if they're hot though.
truly there is no worse feeling than watching a writer you really like get super obsessed with a character you're unfamiliar with, reading their fics with that character because you blindly trust their taste, then looking that character up and quickly realizing that you've been reading smut about a fried egg of a man for weeks. it's like the fanfic version of having the 'if he makes you happy ig :|' conversation with your straight friends.
#it makes you do some crazy shit my dude#like watch the first two seasons of jjba#then again i spent a not inconsiderate amount of time lusting after the mushroom guy from dorohedoro so i guess none of us are free from si#personal#anon ask

Could I please request either Giant Jonathan or boogeyman Illuso (jjba)
Thank you and have a wonderful day!
THEEEE Spacey Cowboy?? Of course I will write for you, my friend! There isn't enough Yandere Johnathan content in the world...
---
For this imagine, I am going to make Johnathan more like a Goliath from D&D; an inhumanly tall and strong humanoid, but still not as tall as, let's say, a whole mountain.
But he might as well be, standing next to you!
I also headcanon him to be very in tune with nature, almost like a strange forest druid, due to his powers of hamon. He makes flowers grow, how much more forest spirit can he get?
When you had ventured out in the early autumn afternoon to collect the first of the berries this season, you never expected to get lost. How could you, when your village was just a hop, skip and a jump away from the forest?
The trees only grew more dense and the foliage more thick, until you stumbled out into a clearing. In the middle of the sunlit grass lay a leaf covered stone, and, in your exhaustion, you decided to sit down for a rest.
It wasn't your intention to wake a sleeping giant, even less so to sit on him while he slept..!
When the rock beneath you suddenly starts to move, you make haste to scramble off of it, but go rigid when a large, strong grip holds your waist.
You can only watch as the leaves fall from tan skin, and an imposing, impossibly muscled figure holds you close to itself, its face blocking the sun as wild locks of blue hair cascade down their back and neck.
Your tiny form trembles with fear, dreading the moment the beast opens its mouth and eats you...
"Danny, I told you not to wake me up like that- Oh..!"
As your eyes adjust to the face in front of you, a pair of the most beautiful deep blue eyes gaze down at you, clear from any ill intent, instead filled with such innocent curiosity.
"You aren't... Danny..."
The giant suddenly blushes, a red hue covering his face as he lifts you off of his lap and sets you down on the grass, handling you like a porcelain doll.
"M-my most sincere apologies..! I thought you were my dog..!"
As the sunlight falls upon the massive man, he can only fuss over you like you were a child, brushing off leaves from your clothes while his surprisingly eloquent voice fills the silence.
"I haven't seen someone this deep in the woods for a long while. Are you lost? Do you need me to help you back to the nearby village- wait, you aren't injured, are you..?!"
You push away his giant yet gentle hands, and stand on your own two shaky feet.
"I'm fine. Just... A mistake, is all."
The giant frowns at you, his eyes narrowing for a second, before he sighs and his face relaxes.
"Again, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have grabbed you like that. I'm..."
He brushes the rest of the leaves off of himself, revealing a blue shirt that matches his hair and eyes as he stands.
"Johnathan. My friends call me JoJo."
---
Ever since your admittedly awkward meeting in the forest, you and Johnathan had gotten along swimmingly. For the rest of the season he helped you pick berries, showing you the best spots in the forest, and even lifting you up to pick fruit that hang too high for you to reach.
Johnathan had even let you meet Danny, a dog almost as big as himself, but just as friendly. Suffice to say, you had come home covered in slobber that day.
You spent a lot of time with the gentle giant, easily falling for his charm and friendliness. Trusting Johnathan was easy, when he was so openly helpful!
But while you consider him a good friend, he struggles with his feelings for you. Johnathan had thought you a normal villager at first, just lost in the woods, another soul he felt he had to guide.
But now, after spending so much time with you, his feelings have blossomed like a beautiful flower.
Every minute in your presence is something to look forward to. Your jokes, your sarcasm, your wit... It's all something he adores about hanging out with you.
The way you thank him for his help, gush about how strong he is, makes him so flustered you wouldn't believe! Johnathan has to hide his face when you compliment him, otherwise you'll end up teasing him for how red his face is.
The giant has fallen head over heels, and he doesn't know what to do in the slightest about it.
It doesn't help that when he helps you home, he catches sight of some of the men in your village, and his mind begins to spin.
What if they didn't treat you as well as you should be treated..? What if they tried to come on to you, what then..? What if they even tried to hurt you..?!
These thoughts fill Johnathan's mind with a possessive side that he didn't know existed, but thinks is entirely natural. If he feels like he has to protect you, it's just his love for you!
So if you find him keeping you a little closer when he walks you back to the village, if he pulls you against him when he spots other men, please don't think he's strange!
He's protecting you from unwanted suitors, from people who may hurt you! You don't mind that, right?
---
Ugh, I went a bit out of control with this one, but I am really happy to get a monster request! I hope you enjoyed, my friend, and you have a wonderful day too!

what would the mercs' favourite shows/anime be? You might have done the 'shows' part before so im giving you the 'anime' option as a fresh twist ^w^ (No im not battling a double-hyperfixation of tf2 and jjba and seeking validation through mutuals why would you even think that-)
What Are The TF2 Mercs Favortie Animes?
————————————————————
Oh boy it's been a hot minute since I've watched an Anime, I used to be so feral for any anime 😭
Mutual appreciation comment!!! Thank you for your asks! I love seeing them pop up, you always have really good prompts 🫶🏻
————————————————————
POSSIBLE SPOILER FOR DEATH NOTE?
————————————————————
Demo- Kakegurui
Did I ever mention that this man loves to gamble? Also, you cannot convince me that this man isn't super expressive when he does so. Literally is the anime. Loves how batshit insane it is. Loves getting whiplash from one episode to the next. Wasn't a fan of season two, but adores season one. Bindges, and re-bindges the show at least once a month. Just loves feeling insane when he watches an anime.
————————————————————
Engie- One Punch Man.
Saw Genos and immediately went "I could build that." And doesn't elaborate. He's not gonna lie, he may or may not have tried to follow Saitama's training routine once, but threw up when he got to the running part. Don't get me wrong this man isn't weak or anything but I genuinely don't think anyone on this team can run besides Scout. Loves watching OPM because he loves how unbothered Saitama is and wishes he could be like that, and also wishes he could be as strong.
————————————————————
Heavy- Your Lie In April
Loves the mix of a slice of life and melodrama. Doesn't care too much about how slow the show is. Just enjoys watching everything play out and being along for the ride. This man sobbed at the end. Couldn't believe it, well he could but he also couldn't? Even though it breaks him everytime he sees the ending, he still loves rewatching it.
————————————————————
Medic- Japanese Tales of The Macabre/Parasyte
HE. LOVES. JUNJI. ITO. It'd be so wrong not to think so. He has genuinely wondered about the logistics of Layers Of Terror... be afraid of this man if he gets a curious look in his eye over any episode of this anime. He likes the books more but also loves the anime. I added Parasyte too because this man is a sucker for all types of body horror and I think Parasyte should always be mentioned. Just lord help us after this man's mind starts working when watching his favorite body horror animes. You'll here a mix of screams from the poor characters and Yippees! From Medic as he watches the horror.
————————————————————
Scout- Death Note
I think this is everyone's starter anime, but it just happens to also be Scout's favorite. I can't tell if he'd think Light is a genius or insanely stupid. But that's not super important. Loves Ryuk! He'd want a death note just to have Ryuk hanging around the base. This man would be a menace if he had the death note honestly. He'd probably write his name down first just to label it, forgetting he'd die.
————————————————————
Sniper- The Disastrous Life of Saiki K
Man has never related to a fictional character so hard until now. Also wishes he could be perfectly average in the public eye and also has inhuman natural talents. It's not even funny how much I can imagine Sniper in this anime. He watched every season and loved them all (likes season one best though) and regularly rewatches the show when things get to stressful around him. It's his comfort show.
(Not that anyone asked but, I fucking love this anime, it's not even funny how much I love this anime I'm going feral.)
————————————————————
Spy- Black Butler
Can a fictional character have a kin? Well in my mind yes. Spy kins Sebastian so fucking hard. Picked up the trait of taking his gloves off like that. Definitely share the same annoyances, living with incompetent coworkers, an annoying child, a criminally insane friend or two, you know the normal stuff! Was severely disappointed by season two. Loved everything else though.
————————————————————
Soldier- Attack On Titan
I think he likes AOT because of all the Gore, blood, and fighting. I can imagine him kicking his legs and smiling all goofy while watching this. This man bindged the entire show, no doubt. Like the other mercs were genuinely worried about him. He's a mix of devastated and happy that the show hasn't ended permanently.
————————————————————
Pyro- JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
The insane person loves insane anime, who would have guessed? No, but genuinely, you'd think they'd have a short attention span, wouldn't be able to understand what's going on, and lose interest. Nope! Absolutely love this anime. Has probably rewatched it a million times already. Has made Engie watch this with him and utterly confused the poor Texan. Feverishly waiting for part nine.
————————————————————
I hope you like this! I had to pull out my list of animes I've watched, and oh boy it made me realize how weird. Maybe? That my taste in anime is.
Also sorry its not super long or super indepth I was going off some very vague memories for a few of these!
I love you guys!

I have two zodiac-based questions (but not horoscope explanations like you've been doing), the first is dependent on whether or not you've watched Fairy Tail. (I'll send a separate ask)
The second: if you were to assign ONE anime character to best exemplify the different zodiac signs, who would you pick? (Can be from any anime of your choice, and they don't all have to be from the same anime, but you can only pick ONE).
Alternatively you could pick two, but they have to be based on the month divide (social media tells me there's a different between June and July Cancers (and obviously the others, but we're in Cancer season lol)?).
Feel free to answer in your own time, or completely ignore it.
ALRIGHT! this has been such a fun task to complete and I cannot thank you enough for asking me such a thoughtful question. I really have pondered on this for days just to be certain I have it as right as I want it to be.
Aries: Akitaru Obi - Fire Force
reason: embodies most of the natural traits of Aries as a sign. motivated, hard working, friend and family oriented. willing to put in the work to get done what he needs to get done. he trains every day for this!
Taurus: Gon Freecss - HxH
reason: aside from being boy of All Time, Gon to me embodies everything a Taurean is at their best. loyal, digging their heels in when it matters the most, giving it all but also understanding the joy in laying on your back and watching the clouds roll by.
Gemini: Itachi Uchiha - Naruto
reason: literally the most stereotypical Gemini I can think of even down to his decision making processes. committed to the bit when he was ready to go all in, thought a lot about it before then, remains fluid in his decisions afterward although it comes from an altruistic and good place.
Cancer: Ichigo Kurosaki - Bleach
reason: truly every Cancer trait exists in this man in a way I've seen very seldom. he's loyal, emotional, compassionate, but he doesn't let it blind him and this is common for a lot of Cancer people once they can suss a situation out.
Leo: Bulma Briefs - DB/DBZ
reason: hot genius heiress and literally knows it. I feel like a simple look at her screams LEO so loudly I don't really need to explain.
Virgo: Kakashi Hatake - Naruto
reason: the first Virgo man to ever make me crazy gets to keep his title but mostly because of his internal thought processes. Kakashi's anxiety has been widely debated in fandom for many years but I've always firmly subscribed to the theory (and tbh fact if you read the manga but I digress) that is is wracked by it. he is loyal, he tends to be grounded but he questions himself. idk. just so Virgo it hurts down to this.
Libra: Joseph Joestar - JJBA
reason: please watch one episode of Battle Tendency to know more. I will not be defending this decision and you will come back to tell me I'm right.
Scorpio: L Lawliet - Death Note
reason: intelligent, intuitive, endearingly strange. he is the Scorpio pinkprint in the very best way.
Sagittarius: Asuka Langley-Soryu - NGE
reason: literally every Sagittarius stereotype exists in this lovely young woman and she does no wrong to me so it doesn't matter but she's brash, she's proud of herself, she gets done what she sets out to do.
Capricorn: Senku Ishigami - Dr. Stone
reason: work ethic alone. he is the most stereotypical Capricorn I can think of in any media depiction down to deep emotions and the way he views his comrades and the things he does for them to make a world they weren't meant to be in more comfortable for them. I LOVE U SENKU!!!
Aquarius: Suguru Geto - JJK
reason: even if he hadn't gone murderous over it, he is an Aquarius through and through, down to everything he does being for the whole rather than himself.
Pisces: Yuuta Okkotsu - JJK
reason: literally the Pisces stereotype. kind, compassionate, good to everyone, everyone eventually becomes family which is just sooooo deeply Piscean thanks to our ability to really tune in and be there for people. just so good. glad to be associated with him.

My first instinct was to recommend JJBA but then I realized LMAO one of my all-time favorites that your art style reminds me of is Violet Evergarden on Netflix. It's one season with two or three movies, can't remember exactly, about a veteran who tries to adjust to civilian life after spending her entire life at war in a fictional, low fantasy universe. It doesn't sound like much but anyone who's seen it knows just how damn good it is, from the storytelling to the animation and visual design to the music. Watch it with a box of tissues though because it is gut-wrenching, not to mention the potential triggers for some pretty heavy themes.
It's incredibly pretty looking! You say it doesn't sound like much but I like the concept. I'll give it a watch for sure

A wild 2023 recap post appears!
Stuff I made this year:
Fiction: Nope. Work continues to consume me. I DID write like 33k that maybe will be publicly accessible in the future, but who can say.
Playlists: I think the only two I remembered to share were Oleander (a playlist for my Wickedness character) and the vast and the void (what it says on the tin).
RPGs: Also a nope.
Knitting: Made a shawl! And a hat, technically, that I forgot to take pictures of.
Other stuff: Taught 5 classes, 4 of which were new preps! Did fieldwork in Japan for the first time since 2019! Gave an hour-long talk in Japanese! Presented on two conference panels! Finished two academic book reviews! Survived somehow! The period between August and December sort of doesn’t exist in my memory? I was doing things but almost all of those things were work, so. The isolation has been wearing on me, but with the combination of A. not having any time to do anything other than work and B. for Various Reasons questioning whether I want to stay at this job, it's been really hard to build local community. I'm going to try to work on that next year, but also I'm going to have two new preps again in the fall and one of my spring classes is already overenrolled, so who knows how effective that'll be.
Media I enjoyed this year:
Books: I read 46 books this year apparently! Top picks in no particular order: The Singing Hills Cycle (embarrassingly my jam), The Southern Reach Trilogy (shocking that it took me this long to read this), My Own Devices (even MORE shocking that it took me this long to read this), Imperial Radch (so AGGRESSIVELY my jam), She Who Became the Sun (this was a hilarious accompaniment to one of my fall classes), Camp Damascus (read this on a plane back from Japan which was An Experience), The Tale That Twines (loved the first book; the second book is even better), System Collapse (yeah, no one is surprised that I loved this).
TTRPG: Wickedness! This was the only new TTRPG I played this year, but it was really good.
Video games: Mask of the Rose and Saltsea Chronicles, both of which I want to/should poke at more. Special nod to 13 Sentinels which we enjoyed 90% of a lot.
Manga/comics: I think the only thing I read was The JOJOLands?
Fanfic: I didn’t actually wind up reading that much fanfic this year again, in part because I was reading so many books. A few picks, in no particular order: The Gardener (CR C2), Keys to the Castle (CR C2), Whistle Song (CR C2), pieces of (you) me (CR C2), Descriptions of a River Flowing (CR C2), Slip the Blindfold (CR C2), Heart to Heart (JJBA: JJL--PLEASE read this if you care about JJL at all), riverside beatitudes (JJBA: SDC), Fully formed, ready to run (ExU: Calamity). Honorable mention to Asking for More (Stranger of Paradise), which is a WIP but made me laugh so hard I hit myself in the face with my phone.
Films: I actually watched like eight movies this year! All but two of the new ones on a plane, to be fair, but. Top picks: Spider-man: Across the Spider-verse and Shoplifters (『万引き家族』). Honorary mention to Suzume.
TV: Finally finished Stone Ocean! It was good! Rowan and I are also like halfway through catching up on TGCF and it is also very good.
Podcasts: Continued to listen to way too many of these. Top picks: The Silt Verses, Trice Forgotten, Within the Wires (hey can we talk about the newest season? truly wild), and Re: Dracula. Honorable mentions to The Evaporated: Gone with the Gods, 『なんかIWAKAN!』 (WHICH IS TRAGICALLY ENDING???? where am I supposed to get my chaotic Japanese gender and sexuality discussion now :(((((), Cry Havoc! Ask Questions Later, Critical Role, and Worlds Beyond Number.
Music: Dessa's Bury the Lede was excellent, of course. I also apparently listened to Maisie Peters' The Good Witch a lot (it was in my grading rotation in October). And then this past month there's been a lot of Hozier's Unreal Unearth. But a lot of my listening this year was either albums on the bus (rotating mainly between Quiet Company’s We Are All Where We Belong, Bury the Lede, yorushika’s entire discography that I can purchase, Wednesday Campanella, and various soundtracks) or putting something on loop and falling into a fugue state. Apparently my top song of the year on Spotify was “Square One,” which I think I put on looping while grading in the spring. My Spotify top songs list was even more inexplicable than usual this year.
Anyway, あけおめ!!! 良いお年を!!! (or else!!!!)

I RELATE SO MUCH WITH THE JJBA ARTSTYLE BUT IT WAS WORTH IT
hxh is soooo good oml but i still can't get over gon and killua separating🫠 i genuinely had one of the weirdest impressions on kny when i saw the wisteria house scene of inosuke, zenitsu, tanjiro, and nezuko chasing each other💀💀 it still hurts cuz you realize kny is going to end soon😭
i still haven't watched jjk s2 yet, waiting for it to be completed until i can binge watch it! absolutely gonna cry cuz i know it's gonna destroy me when it's completed but all's okay as long as i can see yuta hihihi
LET'S BE NERDS TOGETHER
my fav animes are the promised neverland (i'm so sad that they didn't follow the manga for s2😭😭 i didn't see my fav characters animated :c), the apothecary diaries, bungo stray dogs, and moriarty the patriot! i'm obsessed with detectives and animes with smart characters ngl (heck even the books i buy are murder mystery genres lmao)
question: what is the first anime you watched?? Mine is ranma 1/2!
🐧anon
UGH ABSOLUTELY, NOW I TRULY UNDERSTAND THE JOJO REFERENCES !!! and no those two have never separated idk what you're talkin' about 🧍 and ayo... THAT was the weirdest impression you had??? Not the first episode of absolute CARNAGE of tanjiro's family??!?!? understandable. and bruh ik, I need to buy the fuckin' manga but I don't want it to end, my cousin bought all the mangas and finished it and oml 😭 !!!!!! I can't wait to watch s2 of JJK, I'm tryna see scrunkly man toji in all his animated glory, even tho I hate his English dub voice 🧍 I think dio fits him tho... and oOOh a yuta fan 🤭 yuta is such a sweetie baby pie who'd prolly kick my ass if I crossed him
YES !!! NERDS UNITE 🫡🫡🫡
promised neverland... I definitely tried to watch it but god it was way too eerie for me and that's comin' from someone who watched attack on titan and some other messed up junk. I've only heard of one of those!!! bungou stray dogs, I never finished it despite the pretty character designs ☹️ might give it another try if I remember— and omg ranma!!!! I know that one hehehehe my first anime was katekyo hitman reborn! it got me into anime in the first place and created a deep love I have for super weak protagonists who secretly have hidden powers within them or they appear weak and people often underestimate them until it's too late. I dunno what it is about the badass feelin' it gives but it's like a shot of caffeine
are ya watchin' anything currently or have finished anything? :D personally I just finished mashle: magic and muscles!!! I'm excited for the next season tbh OH and I am also watching zom 100 and it's actually pretty good !!! a lil' depressin' but still a very intriguing plot

Anything new ur reading playing watching that’s good?
//Anon my life is rather boring but I'm trying to do something new when I can xD Hmm...I have been playing Persona 5 Royal and a bit of Persona 4 for the first time. I've recently for the special edition box of Raincode so I may play that one pretty soon too. I know I got to catch up on some anime like the new season of Jujutsu Kaisen and watch Demon Slayer more. Oh! @dxfiedfxte introduced me to Hellgirl and Ghost Hunt so that's been fun to watch. Aaahh and I just realized I need to finish JJBA Stone Ocean. I already got a list in mind of different anime to try watching or what was recommended to me, I just need the focus to sit down and watch. ^^;; My lazy ass just lays and watches tiktoks for some time. I'm also trying to keep up and watch more of my watch list on Youtube, especially catching up to watch FNAF Ruin from various youtubers lol. I have wanted to see certain movies that came out for the past couple of months but no one wants to go with me so I missed out. I've started reading The Hawthorne Games and that's been pretty entertaining! I want to try collecting and rereading Chainsaw Man, I plan to read Noragami since I got two of the omnibus and reading more of Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun which I'm just adoring with every chapter. Thanks for asking me this, that's so sweet and I'm happy to share this with you. <3

woah, it's definitely going on my watch list now, few posts i've seen talking or reviewing jjba always used complicated gargon so i could never properly pay attention to what they were saying but reading your post was v nice and i can assume you like it a lot, when did you start watching if i could ask?(/notforced)
also thank you for avoiding the spoilers lol, i'm tempted to search up spoilers but now i just wanna enjoy this series and the manga properly so i'll avoid those (really the only 'spoiler' i've ever seen is the "it's me dio" meme, if that even counts as a 'spoiler'?)
out of curiosity i just searched what j giel looked like, interesting design choices? ig? ;; (/halfjoke) but once again ty for the major spoilers warning, i'm kind of itching to find out for myself now haha
i never realized the artstyle of jjba has changed so much actually? i've seen late 3-early 4 artstyle so finding out about this style diversity is actually so cool, it really matches the years they were in well, early part 1 reminds of me some of the hero comics i've seen from around those years as well. this chart manages to show the changes v well though, it looks so pretty
and now that you mention it, kira dude does look like david bowie now that i think about it, and woah he has an entire season/arc? is he a major character or some kind? (/genquestion) i'm looking forward to watching that season now, the 'slice of life/detective drama' combo sounds interesting and i've never thought to combine those before so i'm hyped (/gen)
i just searched rohan and joseph's designs too, they look super cool! could I ask whose your favorite and disliked characters in csm?
(long post,,,,, dont press read more if u dont really care cuz . long post)
yes it should!!!11! i started watching/reading it in... 2019/2020 i think. it was when i lived in my old house so it was sometime around there my brother actually recommended it to me!! we watched it together, and we've watched every season (other than the latest- stone ocean. we watched it separately for that one) together and it honestly probably is part of why i love it so much because i generally associate him with it haha
you shouldnt spoil it AT ALLL its such a great series and stone ocean was so bad for me because i already knew the entire ending (cuz i read the manga) so watching the anime. was intensely sorrowing because it was all so stunningly beautiful and heart moving and yada yada but i knew what was gonna happen!!! all the suspense was gone!!!
and and and. i feel like even with j geil it just shows how DYNAMIC or whatever the art style is.. like
hes DISGUSTING but it fits!!! even when you watch the show the overall style change may really not register until you sit back and think aboutit because its like a gradual switch, a really pretty switch though since it really just shows the magaka (hirohiko araki) growing and learning with the series its really beautiful
im slightly sure kira was based off him but i really cant be sure his design can 100% be since alot of things in the show starting part 3 i think are like references to bands and songs-- kira for example's power, killer queen, like the song by queen has a power called bites the dust and sheer heart attack, just like the albums/songs from queen aswell its really smart isnt it?? and kira really is important. i wont elaborate but hes really important in season 3/part 4 (season one has the first two parts, "phantom blood" and "battle tendency" then every part after is its own season-- probably because part 1 and 2.. well.. are different to the rest- youll see why) if u watch it youll either love him cuz hes kinda lovable when u ignore his Biggest "Flaw" (a character flaw, like a trait not flaw as in story flaw). or youll love him cuz every scene with him atleast to me is really. uhh i forgot the word in english : D enthralling? rohans designs are honestly. the best designs in jojo to me and the main reason for that is kinda cuz theyre pretty not bizarre (in comparison.)
it also has to do with part 4's coloring aswel, like i cant find the image but his hair is just. blue one time (and purple i think) just cuz they never really do that uch after part4 which is so sad.. but its okay because it makes part 4 more unique also. rohans outfits change it might not seem like much but rohans outfits. change probably becuz hes araki's self insert so hes always making him cool (like in stone ocean where,,, uhh.. basically something happens and time is speeding up a bit, and no mangakas can make manga becuz their ink drys up too fast, and rohan is the only mangaka whos still pushing out manga- cuz of his powers) Im. rambling. UHH ive started chainsaw man only recently so i cant go as in depth as jojo but once ive finished. well if i finish ill definitely have new opinions for now though i love kobeni
shes just. she shes!! MEE :sob: shes just so relatable i love her so much (SAME WITH ASA. BUT I JUST. LIKE KOBENI MORE) i also HAVE to say i like denji for the same reason i like joseph really hes just hilairious (though it really depends on your sense of humor. if u dont like dark...? i wouldnt say dark... humor, but definitely not for like. 12 year old or something you know. u might not like denji- or csm in general
the character i dislike has to be...... uh makima i guess i wont say why cuz. MAJOR SPOILERS!! but shes kinda  to me HER WRITINGS GOOD AND I LIKE. HER EXISTING but as a person.......

My loves, I must know--if you watch English dubs of anime, what are your recommendations? I don't watch many dubs, but I have my favorites that I tend to either prefer totally over subs (One Piece, JJBA), or switch between them when I rewatch (the first two seasons of Mob Psycho). I like dubs for background content, so I'd love any suggestions--doesn't matter if I've seen the show or not already, I'm open to starting a series dubbed. I tend to not watch them on my own much since I don't have the patience to sit through a few episodes and see if I connect with the VA's line deliveries.

Okay, so we just made it to like episode s1e11 of JJBA and wanted to share this joy.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
The way that Joseph pulls these fakeouts is hilarious!
Intense circling like there's going to be one hell of a fist fight.
Jojo: Fuck your martial arts. pulls out a tommy gun and unloads the whole thing
Evil vampire monk monologues about how unstoppable he is and is immune to hamon.
Jojo: Well how about grenade?
Evil vampire bats it away like its nothing.
Jojo: ssss. Grenades.
Boom
We were really confused getting into this show at first. When we first caught any of it I think we started in season 2? Idk, we watched some of it on toonami and got the impression it was the beginning of a brand new show. So we were utterly lost starting from the actual beginning lol. And it didnt help that we couldn't watch one of the episodes right when the action started happening with Johnathan.
Thanks again for getting us interested in this show!
-Foxy
Ooo, not a problem at all sobsibpsipbpus!!
We think we're talking about the same season* and yes, we agree we agree. The fakeouts are GLORIOUS.
We cannot wait to tell you that while it is not as blatant that Joseph* Joestar does, in fact, maintain his gremlin energy throughout his entire life sojbspjspjvp you will understand once you get through Stardust Crusaders if you haven't gotten there yet, Foxy.
Or, we can have you watch this Joseph Joestar Oh My God compilation that makes us laugh every time we watch it, and then you might get an idea. But the show is even funnier so, like, feel free to watch that and then you'll find this funnier with its context:
youtube
*We keep mixing these two names up? The compilation says Joseph, we're going with that. We could also be mixing up S1 with S2. ;×;

Bimonthly Media Roundup
- Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (Anime) - As a celebration of multiple successful years of our weekly anime nights, my friends and I have decided to rewatch the anime that started it all, JJBA (or at least the first few parts). I'm actually surprised on how much insane stuff I forgot from Parts 1 and 2 given it's really the later parts that start to get truly out there but I guess it's Jojo's bizarre adventure for a reason, even part 1 is a pretty different experience than a normal anime. Admittedly I drifted in and out of Part 1 when Dio wasn't on screen, but Part 2 is carried by having the charismatic and lovable Joseph Joestar as it's protagonist, so that' been a blast. In general it's nice to watch something that has fun and doesn't take itself too seriously sometimes.
- The Umbrella Academy (TV) - Wow okay well I'd heard that this season was bad but man that sure was rotten huh? While I thought Season 3 was weaker than the previous two, it did still have it's moments, namely some fun bonding time between the siblings, Umbrella's famous musical numbers, some neat set-pieces, and a nice little wedding to close out the season. This season had none of that, and even in the first episode it was obvious that the charm had been completely sapped away. A lot of the criticism I've seen points towards the notably awful moments of the season, like Five cheating with Lila, the powers being inconsistent and lame, the overly contrived marigold stuff, and the everyone dies ending, which I agree are all bad, but I'm more disappointed by the lack of any good moments rather than the outrageously bad ones. The whole season was just so bland and depressing, the characters were all miserable caricatures of themselves, the comedy was gross/awkward/ and wholly unfunny, the only memorable musical moment was an annoying as hell one, and everything going on in the plot was contrived nonsense that didn't fit at all with the previously established canon. Obviously ending your show themed around adults dealing with the aftermath of child abuse with "actually it is your fault that your loved ones are suffering and actually your abusive father had kind of a good reason for what he did and the only way to fix things is for all of you to erase yourselves from existence completely as there's no other way to break the cycle" is thematically the worst thing you could possible do, though the anatomy of the season has drained me of any will to be mad at the ending so much as just apathetic towards it. It's pretty sad to see it go out like this, while TUA was never a top 10 favorite of mine I did have fun with it, it sucks that the last 4th of the show was bad enough to taint the product ass a whole. Though to be honest, I can't remember the last live action show I watched that didn't end in some flavor of disappointment, maybe stopping in the 2nd season is just the way to watch TV now.
- Cowboy Bebop (Anime) - Continuing our journey into the top rated anime of all time, my sister and I have now blown through Cowboy Bebop. While I would still say it's a little overrated, it's prestige at least partially the result of nostalgia and lack of variety at the time, unlike Steins;Gate I do think it at least deserves to be remembered fondly, it really is a solidly good show, and great in many aspects. The Show's standout trait is certainly it's style - the art, aesthetic, and world of Cowboy Bebop is beautiful and unique with detailed lived in backgrounds of it's various grungy Sci-fi cities, lovingly detailed spacecrafts, post-apocalyptic environments, and thoughtfully designed background/side characters that help the world feel grounded and charming. The 4 leads are also all solid, with great designs, interesting backstories, and enough variance from their standard character types to be interesting on their own. I do wish they had more instances of working/hanging out together, as while they do definitely all have a notable dynamic with each-other they spend the majority of the show by themselves, either on individual adventures, flashbacks, or even just hanging out alone on the Bebop. While they are interesting on their own, most of the comedy, charm, and emotionally hard hitting moments of media come from intro-personal relationships, so the show does suffer a bit by not having those be as strong as they could be, particularly near the end. That being said I do miss the episodic story telling of the show that's missing in most modern media, while not every episode is a hit most of them are pretty entertaining, and it's nice to see so many different stories play out in this environment. Faye's backstory in particular is pretty strong, as is slowly gets unraveled and has you going "oh yeah, this would definitely happen in a future created by humans", and while her outfit confounds me I do quite like her 90's anime woman femme-fatale design, it's nice to see adult characters that look like adults in animation. Spike's is less interesting to me as while I like the character fine enough (His fighting style being a standout) I don't think the show does anything interesting enough with his ex-con backstory to separate it from the multitude of other media with neigh identical plots, and it leads directly into the rather lackluster ending of an otherwise solid show. I think that's a controversial take on my end, so I'd like to clarify that it's not the tragedy of the ending that bothers me, it's the pointlessness of it. No it doesn't remotely compare to something as bad as TUA Season 4, wherin the pointlessness comes from the writers incompetence, but I just don't jive with the philosophies being presented. I'm more of a "There is no intrinsic meaning to existence so live as freely and cringely as you can as there will always be new opportunities for connections and joy" girlie rather than a "Your past may haunt you but you can give your life purpose by confronting it even at the cost of your future" girlie, you know? It would be fine if the pointlessness was intentional or the tragedy was a reflection of the inherent evils of capitalism or the human soul or whatever, but as it is it's just kind of a bummer. Oh well, honestly it's only a small portion of an otherwise great show. I'd be remiss not to mention the soundtrack before ending this, which is also quite charming with it's heavy western influence. I'd say charming is my main takeaway from the show overall, there's a lot of attention to detail in the character animations, setting, and writing that make for a very pleasant watching experience, I'd reccomend it as a whole.
- Jujutsu Kaisen (Anime) - Yup.
- Malevolent (Podcast) - Been on and off with this as my work has gotten a little hectic and I don't always have time to pay attention to a story heavy podcast, but overall Season 3 has been fun. I'll save my thoughts for later but its nice that we are getting some relevant secondary characters and John and Arthur admitting they care about eachother as a baseline is progress.
- Persona 5 (Video Game) - Thinking of maybe going back and finishing this as I've seen some fun fan material and remembered how much I like the games cast, style, and play-style. Too bad the anime is notoriously bad or I'd put it on as background chill time.
- Trash of the Count's Family (Webcomic) - Caught up with the newer chapters after taking a couple months hiatus. I am enjoying it,though I don't know if this is the fault of the adaptation or what but the pacing feels way too fast lately. It's cool that the cast gets to travel to exotic fantasy locations and meet odd new people but when they spend less than a chapter with each one it really feels like a missed opportunity. The underground perma-night Elf Death city seems so fun, can we please explore it a little - especially since they apparently got to spend a whole week there that we weren't allowed to see? I like Cale, and I want to like this huge found family he keeps collecting, but rarely do any of the characters get any real focus outside of how they'll be a future asset to Cale. Let them participate more in the story please, give them a chance to be more than a loose collection of character traits.
- Cult of the Lamb (Video Game) - This has been a fun time, I've blown through the base game and had a great time growing my cult and unlocking all the fun new things my little cultists can do, like the tailor, breeding, and alehouse. The graphics are very cute and the absurdity of some of the requests and situations make it fun to play and talk about, so huge props there. I've slowed down since reaching the post game, though there's still plenty of content left there for me to get into. Overall I'd recommend the game, it's cute, fun, and has a good bit of lore that's fun to discover. That being said, I will say that the dungeon crawling aspect of the gameplay can get a little tedious after awhile due to lack of any real variety, as the different fleeces and weapons don't really change the play-style up significantly enough to feel distinct each run in the way Hades or Persona games tend to. This isn't a huge problem for a shorter game, as I can't say there's no fun in fighting, but the switch version of the game can get pretty glitchy and will occasionally crash your progress, making going back to do a run pretty frustrating. It's still worth your time, but it may be better to go for the PC version.
- Genshin Impact (Video Game) - Yup.

*yeets a fucking table*
This is aimed at literally no one. I've just been anxious for two days and goddammit another thing has been added to the plate and we're at least gonna scrape that little bit off for fuck's sake!
Keep reading for anxiety-riddled rambling.
Uh...TW for Gore
*deep breath*
*ahem*
I am aware of canon. I know how canon works. I know it is there and I know that my favorite characters are not the blood-soaked bbys I want them to be. However(!), even though I will write my favorites as blood-soaked traumatized bbys, they are still, at their core these characters.
Now, you might be wondering what the fuck this is stemming from. Or not, I don't really care.
The first thing is Jason Todd. I love Jason, I really do. He's a fascinating character and deserves happiness. I won't give it to him, but he deserves it. I know that he has been written badly. I don't know if it's because I've been in fandom for 10+ years, or if I'm just really good at compartmentalizing, but I absolutely love Pit Madness while also being acutely aware that it's not canon (at least not completely) and that it doesn't excuse his actions, etc etc. I still love it. And I mean all versions of Pit Madness. Treating it like a deep-seated demonic hunger that needs to be satiated? Yes please! Treating it like a fever pitch of emotions that can just be sicced on people? Yes! Give it!
The same goes for Bakugou. I know he was kidnapped and so everyone agrees that he could never be canonically evil. But I also want him covered in blood with someone's exploded remains flecked across his face. All my favs should be allowed to be a little insane. For a treat. Michael from Lost Boys. Lovino/Romano from Hetalia. Albedo from Ben 10. Jonothan from JJBA. Etc etc so on and so forth.
The second stem is the fact that I really really struggle with people disliking something I like. It's probably part of the anxiety. Or maybe it's the potential autism (there is a long ass story there). Or maybe some other sort of neurodivergent thing. Idk, I'm getting a psych eval (mom's concerned Satan will somehow get involved).
I loved Blood of Zeus. It had flaws but there were hot people and I was watching it with my friends and that's all I really needed it. But a lot of people really didn't like Blood of Zeus. Logically, I know that's fine. That's how the world works. Some people like things and others don't. If everyone liked the same things, life would suck. And it's not that I think someone doesn't like me if they don't like what I like. It's more of the idea that I'm somehow upsetting you but liking the thing that you don't like. You don't like Pit Madness? I do...does that mean I'm a bad person? I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to be a bad person!
I had a full-blown anxiety attack when the newest Hetalia season came out because everyone was acting like if you like it then you're a nazi. And I'm not a nazi! I'm just sitting here with my AUs and my characters as I put them through hell for the umpteenth time. Or I'm reading World War Z and there were plenty of people talking about how American it is and stuff. And they weren't even bashing the book. They were just saying they didn't like it with perfectly valid arguments. And that's fine! I know that's fine! But I can't help but feel like I'm a bad person for liking the book.
Idk, it'll probably be attacked in therapy. I get to start with two therapists (my job made me go to one not knowing I had signed up for a different one literally that morning) next week.
#rambles by meep#internal screaming#I feel like I've been going insane#not fun#was gonna post this on reddit but couldn't find a good sub for it#uh...if you read me screaming into the void...you get a cookie and a hug#*hugs*#(: :)

CASTLEVANIA IS SO FIRE LIKE RAHHHH. Alucard is soo FINE. I love those anime where all the episodes are on yt even if they are shitty like plot wise and a lil sus. For me like i remember watching this show called High school of the dead on yt and I shouldnt have been watching that in elementary school .
JUST FELL TO MY KNEES AT TGE FIRST EDIT 😭😭 I LOVED SERAPH OF THE END AND DIABOLIK LOVERS. i still do lowkey but like it was my shit for a while.
-🌷
castlevania is so good and alucard is so pretty, i went into the show pretty much blind haha
in the youtube era, i could NEVER find the right episodes in order or the blurriness was so bad i couldn't watch it or the captions were in spanish 😭 my old friend had a hella long written list of anime from the 90s to early 2000s that she binged and completed, and everyday she'd show it to me and talk about it all day, life was good during those days lol
watching high school of the dead in elementary is CRAZY 😭😭 i watched that one in like junior year of high school??? i didn't really watch the fanservice/ecchi anime until like sophomore-junior year cause i knew they were terrible but some of the plots be SLAPPING i stg, shit would've been way more interesting to follow along if it wasn't constantly on the cusp of being literal hentai and if the male mcs were actually interesting 💀💀 nowadays i don't follow people's anime recommendations that often anymore, esp if it's like isekai cause you already know it's gonna be weirdly sexual and i literally just want something that's fun to watch that'll be a lasting interest or an actually good conversation to have, but that's just me LMFAO
AND IM SORRYYYYY, i fr could not get into those two animes cause for some reason they irk me???? ik diabolik lovers is also a game series, don't really know if it's the visual novel type of game but i'd probably try to play them cause i fuck with visual novels so hard. but i think i never got into it because i heard it was boring or sumn idk which sucks cause reverse harems have a special place in my heart cause i wanna be the one coddled by a group of men that all like me 😫 SAY WHAT YOU WILL ABOUT REVERSE HAREMS OR LOVE TRIANGLES but put me in a room with all the fictional men i like, i ain't EVER coming out and if i do, i will be in a wheelchair.
it's also the same with seraph of the end but with the art style I FR DON'T KNOW WHY IM NOT INTO IT BC OF THAT and it shouldn't be the art style's fault when i really enjoyed every season of jjba (from pt 1 to pt 4 cause i got too busy to watch the rest) as a whole to the point where my art style during 2020-2021 reflected off the pt 3 style. i am unfortunately judging the book by its cover 😭😭

i can't stay silent any longer
i need to talk about this show. people need to know how bizarre this production is.
ok so this is idol x warrior miracle tunes
youtube
this is the first entry in the girls x heroine franchise, a short-lived live action magical girl series. basic premise is these girls are idols but they're magical girls and have to rid the world of negativity. there are no fights, they transform, and automatically go into a final attack and it's like that for 51 episodes. came out in 2017 to middling reception but it did really well in its target audience (girls aged 2-6 years old) and with the idol crowd. enough to gain 4 more seasons before going on an indefinite hiatus.
first weird thing: it's directed by takeshi miike. an extremely prolific japanese director who's known for doing a Lot of shit. he has over 100 films under his belt and none of them are the same in terms of tone or genre. infamously, he has directed the horror film Audition, Ichi the Killer, the Ace Attorney movie and the JJBA DiU film.
so needless to say the man has his toes in A Lot of different places. he's scary.
but miike is not why i wanted to talk about this. a lot of shows get dubbed and brought over to other countries, that's one thing and miracle tunes was no different, being brought over to Thailand, South Korea and China.
but how many shows are allowed to get full international adaptations and remakes? the same year that the original miracle tunes ended, 2018, there were reports that an english/international version was in the works because of how 'popular' it was in Japan. soon after, Mediterraneo Media, an Italian company, got their hands on the rights and began filming their adaptation. and so, this production became... the Italian Miracle Tunes remake.
youtube
this is a nearly shot for shot, costume-for-costume remake of the entire 51 episode original show, down to the same plot beats and even keeping some of the same names while localizing others. think how power rangers adapts super sentai footage but everything is refilmed.
Example: the villain group in the original is named the "Doku-Doku Dan" (roughly translating to The Toxic Troupe). In the remake, they are still called the Doku-Doku Dan and there is no explanation for why as far as I can tell.
youtube
youtube
transformation sequence comparison here
the remake had some cultural changes to it, being in italy now. the girls in both versions of the show get power-ups/form changes based on different genres of music (hip-hop, rock, and techno). In the Japanese version, the girls get an "Enka" themed power-up, while the Italian version has a "Flamenco" themed power-up.
youtube
youtube
the adaptation also had its own music, some which were semi-adaptations of the original j-pop songs, and some were original, all in italian of course. main difference being in the Japanese version, the girls sang their own songs since the show also acted as an idol group promotion tool. while in the italian version, all of these songs are not sung by the actresses. oh and there was a explicitly queer character in the japanese version that they made straight in the italian version. just. no reason. i guess. okay.
ok so a random italian remake is. odd, but not out of the realm of possibility. but it gets weirder when you realize the entire show wasn't even originally italian the entire production was filmed in english (minus the song performances), and *then* dubbed in Italian. Looking at any clip of the Italian remake you will Immediately realize none of what they're saying syncs up with their lips. it's terrifying. (i can't really show you an example without just pasting a full episode, but if you look up miracle tunes italia and watch for a minute or two, you'll see what i mean.)
none of the english versions of these episodes exist anywhere, as far as i can tell. i don't know if it can be considered lost media, but it is unreleased media.
BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE
The Italian version of Miracle Tunes was also brought over to Greece and dubbed in Greek, almost fully. this exception being every single song was not the italian version, but a previously unreleased English version.
youtube
from what i know, there was an intention to eventually get an international release of miracle tunes in some capacity, hence the amount of english songs, marketing materials, and like The entire production of the show. but it hasn't materialized quite yet! anyways yeah hope you enjoyed by insane rambling of this weird rabbit hole of an adaptation.
