Brutally honest thoughts on each character?
...*Each* character???? bruh thats so many, okay ill keep this short cuz im waiting for a haircut rn
well start with the vks cuz thats easy
Mal-started off strong and then just became...THE WORST, love hate relationship for her. shes my art block fix but also i hate her
Jay-i dont have strong opinions on him, he actually never stuck out to me other than 'obligatory jock dude of the friend group.' i wish i liked him more but im more attached to his fandom self over canon Jay
Evie-got boring after D1, i wish they let her keep her chemistry stuff, love her vibe but shes kinda boring to me. SHOULD'VE BEEN THE MC OVER MAL!!
Carlos- lots of lost potential with his tech stuff from the first book and movie. easily could've been an engineer or inventor but they just made him an animal lover and i got bored of that real quick.
Uma-my queen, my idol, can do no wrong i love her so much i WILL kill for her.
Harry-i love his dumbass so much YALL DONY EVEN KNOW I WANNA BITE HIM SO BAD
Gil-one of the few characters i felt actually...grew up? idk but hes one of the few characters were it actually feels like time passed for.
Dizzy-oooooooh honey, honey honey, sunshine baby, please, put the glue gun down.
Celia- they should've gone with her trailer persona. Her outfits are so bad and i wish she got better writing and designs, so much lost potential, also she should've been Jays pick.
Smee twins- why the fuck are they even here they had one line and no significance. also they should've had a Harry scene.
Aks
Ben-puppy boy, deserved to have doberman energy. got turned into a doormat by the writers and is unfairly hated.
Audrey-bitch queen, shes not a nice person and thats okay~ girlboss.
Chad- should've been the D3 villan they had that all set up in D2 with his weird ass attitude over Ben getting kidnapped on the isle.
Doug -....honestly gives me the ick, especially in D3, i HATE the long hair his actor had/has. gold is NOT his color and neither is pastel purple or green. he looked good in D1 but ICK for 2 and 3.
Jane- bby gurl, blue bird sweetheart. yeah she did some fucked up shit in D1 but she was an insecure 14 year old girl who got manipulated by Mal and other aks!!!
Lonnie- deserved so much better, shes Chinese why is she getting Japanese style stuff?!?! her plot in D2 didnt even do anything it just happened and no one cared and Jay just shoved his problems of girls playing roar onto her.
Beast- *inhale* i wanna kick his ass, and i could, lemme at him. how dare he force an entire kingdom on Ben at 16 when he didnt become king when he was 28(when he married Belle)
Belle- they took away her backbone, shes not Disney princess book worm and independent Belle. she just, lost the spark
FG- they turned her into a preschool teacher, GIVE ME MY OL COOKY FAIRY LADY BACK
Leah- *seething rage*
vk parents
Maleficent- fuckin love her, shes such a manipulative bitch and feels like a gone crazy version of a Maleficent made for kids. def not the mistress of all Evil but i love her nonetheless
EQ- shouldve been the head villain, SHE WAS THE FIRST DISNEY VILLAIN CMON! def not the same character from the animated movie but shes dramatic and sassy and i adore her.
Jafar- haha funny characature~ i wish he was more menacing like he had been. Jafar is not one of my fav villains so descendants jafar didnt exactly translate for me well.
Cruella- yeah they nailed her, no complaints about her. good design, good dialogue, good acting.
Hades- LEMME KICK HIS DEAD BEAT ASS, fucking 'daddy issues made you stronger' my butt. i hate his hair and honestly he doesnt fit the washed up punk design, he didnt deserve the speech at the end and didnt deserve to be forgiven by Mal.
Ursula- we only saw her tentacle and one line but she seemed spot on so yeah
Lady Tremaine- why the fuck was she nice in D3??? bitch is the EVIL stepmother.
Smee- spot on, i have words for his sons designs becuaee hes old not naturally white haired but hes chill, makes sense hed be a good parent, he never felt evil to me, just compliant
Facilier- such a vibe, his actor got him spot on, would've changed up his suit design but hes chill and i can see him being a family man(ignoring wicked world).

By the way, speaking of the erasure of actors with dwarfism... Right after I have been hit by this Time Bandits mess, I have just watched the trailer for the live-action Disney's Snow-White. And... honestly all of the problems talked about and issues raised before seem truly non-significant compared to what I actually got out of this trailer. Which I think is the real problem with this movie.
The feeling of... unecessary. I watched the trailer, and I was left with nothing out of it, except a neutral "Why would they make that?" coupled with a tired "Why would I watch it?" Because there was nothing in this trailer that encouraged the audience or gave the audience the desire to go watch it if they already knew the original movie.
Here's my point: when the whole Disney live-action movies trend started (I am going to say "live-action remakes" to differentiate it from older live-action movies like the excellent 101 Dalmatians live-action movie), it worked with an immense success. Why? Because these movies had something to them. Yes they reused classic movies and stuck to them... but in their own, unique way and they didn't hesitate to change things up, to differentiate themselves from it. The most obvious being the Maleficent movie, which was a literal "perspective flip" with a ton of new stuff (moral reversal, backstory given to a villain, anti-villain situation, etc) ; but even the Cinderella live-action "remake" worked hard on having its own style, not hesitating to change the design of some key characters (Lady Tremaine would be my main example). Thus, they worked extremely well. Whether you like them or not, you can't deny they're their own thing and stand up on their own.
Cut to today. I am going to use mainly Disney's remakes of The Little Mermaid and Snow-White (though I could also use stuff like Aladdin or other movies). What's the difference? These movies are remake. Absolute remakes trying to stick as closest to the original as possible: same story, same shots, same designs. They are basically... transpositions. Sure there are some changes (in The Little Mermaid, making Ariel a different skin color and having a whole Caribean style) but they still feel very minor compared to all the efforts made to stick to the original animated piece. Compare the Lady Tremaine case above with Ursula or the Evil Queen in those live-action movies - there isn't an effort to reinvent the character to better fit a live-action universe or a different style of story. They are both created as an attempt to reproduce the original cartoon design as faithfully as possible. And this is what I mean by how "unecessary" these movies are feeling right now. They are literaly just retelling the same story, with minor changes. It feels like so much money and effort and special effects and acting is being thrown away at just... a repetition o what we already have instead of creating anything new.
It's not like Disney run out of fairytales to work with! Imagine that, we could have had a whole new range of live-action fairytale movies! But not it is just... recreating the exact same shots, over and over (I was particularly puzzled by how they worked so hard to recreate the shot of the Evil Queen going down the stairs while having her cape float behind her. You put a lot of effort to recreate this old animated shot, okay... But what's the point? Why would I pay to watch this same shot in live-action when I already did tons of time animated?)
In fact this is why these live-action remakes are bound to feel inferior to the original animated pieces - precisely BECAUSE they are trying to recreate and stick to the original... while being limited by budget and real-life physics and visuals, meaning they will have to tweak it slightly in unsatisfying way. If they had decided to go with their own style and stuff it wouldn't have been a problem (again, Disney's Cinderella live-action, the two Lady Tremaines feel like different characters and thus it is easier to separate these things and look at each on their own).
(It also doesn't help that Disney has been working a LOT of doing live-action versions of their own characters before, from Once Upon a Time to Descendants, so again... trying to recreate exactly things is just bound to cause unpleasant comparisons).

Alternate idea for Asha and Magnifico's outfits
As my other post mentions, I'm not sure thrilled with Asha's final design. However, I'm not an artist, so I wanted to make a collage of inspiration for an outfit(s) that Asha could've worn instead--and I'm including Magnifico too, since I'm not pleased with anyone's look in the film (thanks to the art style), and Magnifico is the main antagonist, so he needs to look as good as Asha.
In celebration of Disney, they could've made an amalgamation of iconic Disney heroines. It'd feel familiar and new at the same time. I love how Snow White's outfit is unique while being cohesive rather than clashing. Cinderella's dress needs no explanation; it's modern (for the time) and iconic, while Aurora's dresses are understated--plus "Wish" is visually inspired by "Sleeping Beauty," so it only makes sense. Jasmine's purple dress is in a similar vein of Asha's own purple dress, and Ariel's sparkly dress could be a good blueprint for a shooting star/constellation dress for Asha (even if both Ariel and Jasmine's looks are a bit too modern and sexy for a modern heroine for a family film). Or a multicolored rainbow dress like Isabela Madrigal would also be cool; this would be more on the original side rather than referencing too many prior Disney girls. As for Magnifico...
Given that "Sleeping Beauty" was an inspiration for "Wish," I'd have loved it if King Magnifico had a bicolored outfit like King Stefan, which in itself would be a reference to his duality, making the blue in a shade similar to Hades. I'm also a fan of him changing outfits, and I definitely see purple as his dominant color; it goes with his eyes. I'd definitely use black or a dark red to compliment/contrast with it, bringing Lady Tremaine, Maleficent, Governor Ratcliffe, and Ursula (and imagine if he had a nautilus necklace or ring; it wouldn't have any story significance; just a reference).

So, I was bored and asked Chat GPT about Twisted Wonderland/Disney crossover pairings. Ignoring some of the strange and problematic ones like Ursula/Azul, Leona/Simba and Azul/Maleficent (seriously, wtf!?), one interesting one that it spit out was Cinderella/Vil. I never thought of it before, but I can sorta see it.
While initially they might seem like opposites, both characters hard working, want to help others and strive for personal improvement. Over time, they could help each other grow, with Vil teaching Cinderella about grace and poise, and Cinderella reminding Vil about the importance of inner beauty and humility.
I kinda wanna write a fic about them now. But if this is about him in the canon Disney universe, I can see Vil being the prince and her being sent to work in the palace since her stepmother couldn't find a use for her. She meets Vil, and they start becoming friends. Drama, the ball and everything else would play out from there. Still not sure how a story with him and TWST Cinderella would work, since Trein isn't anything like Lady Tremaine. It could be kinda cute.
As some side notes, I can also see Jamil/Jasmine, Vil/Belle, Azul/Tiana and Malleus/Aurora being cute couples. Not sure about which male characters I would ship the TWST boys with, really. Don't think I can ever see Vil with Snow White. One, she's 14. Two, I think even if she was the same age as him, she would seem like a Neige clone and he would write her off on the spot.
I mean, she could be a clothing designer??? Perhaps Twst Cindy created a brand of clothes that Vil is fond of. She does like to sew. Maybe she's his personal stylist when he's working on a movie or something. There are options.
Also, yeah, no, Snow White would be a Neige clone to him and would get on Vil's nerves so bad, even if they were somehow the same age. He might be a big brother to her though, since we know he's canonically good with kids. I can't see Jamil with Jasmine at all- I feel like she might remind him too much of his sister, or even Malleus with Aurora- they're too similar due to their upbringings with Lilia/Three Fairies, they'd be more like siblings.
But Azul and Tiana???? That would work... really well actually??? Let them run a restaurant together. It would be SO cute. Tiana would tell him off anytime he started doing anything too shady/risky and they would have the sassiest most judgmental convos about people. Azul would bankrupt anyone trying to take their business. It would be hilarious. Belle and Vil could be super cute too??? Though I could see Belle with Malleus better. Man loves to read and he would love listening to Belle's stories about her father's crazy inventions.
#twisted wonderland#twst#just an fyi I hate ai but since chatgpt is a Q&A thing I guess... this is fine???

Because I recently went to see WDAS' most recent film, Wish, and because it's their centennial, and because I'm currently listening to a mega-draft podcast of the films, here are my Top Ten Walt Disney Animation Studios films (not my list of personal favorites, the top ten films I would say are the top ten best of the canon):
Beauty and the Beast (1991) - an assuredly told version of the story, an outstanding score, stellar cast and voice work paired with great animation, a highlight of the medium of animation
Pinocchio (1940) - this was their second one out of the gate! i mean there's so much to admire: the shot of jiminy's perspective as he hops to geppetto's shop, the overhead shot of the town, the horror of lampwick turning into a donkey, the monstro chase, everything with figaro and cleo!!!
Sleeping Beauty (1959) - they set out to create a literal moving work of art and they did it. the tchaikovsky score and gorgeous painted backgrounds, PLUS you got The Golden Girls raising a child in the woods, "And now you shall deal with me O Prince, and all the powers of Hell!" FUCK.
101 Dalmatians (1961) - I watched this in its entirety for the first time as an adult after previously only seeing part of it once or twice and I never knew how fucking tight of a film this is. So tightly told. And it looks exciting and charming. A real gem from the studio.
Cinderella (1950) - the part when the grand duke is talking to the king about how the prince would react if the girl of his dreams showed up to the ball and they show the prince reacting to cindy walking into the ballroom, good shit. the message of "a dream is a wish your heart makes" gets a bad rap, but it's a pretty song and sentiment. also this movie has one of my favorite animated scenes where lady tremaine wakes up the stepsisters to tell them about the slipper and cinderella slowly realizes she danced with the prince the night before and she has this dreamy look on her face and then lady tremaine figures what's up and they pull in on her glowing green eyes and it's over for her. also I think this is one of the most gorgeous and elegant animated films. cinderelly, cinderelly!
The Little Mermaid (1989) - this probably wouldn't be on my list a few years ago, but with the live action adaptation this year and its entry into the National Film Registry, I've been reconsidering this movie and it's such a joyous and ✨ magical ✨ animated work with an emotional center that connects with so many who watch it. the YEARNING. ashman understood it. also, glen keane's (i believe he animated this part?) animation on the part of your world reprise is glorious with that fucking hair, pat carroll and the design of ursula, a heavenly match. and menken's delightful score. it's so good.
Aladdin (1992) - this is actually my number one personal fave, it's the VHS tape I watched the most growing up, but I think this is a good placement for it. It's beautiful to look at, it's a full-fledged animated comedy, it's the last of howard ashman's contributions, "friend like me" is one of the best animated sequences ever, aladdin was my first animated crush, i still stan jasmine, it spawned a pretty terrific spinoff series, jonathan freeman's cackle is the best villain cackle, and of course, robin. also, ron clements and john musker are kings.
Lilo & Stitch (2002) - the more time passes, the more I think this film proves itself to be a grand achievement in the canon. the amount of sentiment is just right, stitch is an entertaining creation and his connection with lilo is relatable, i mean the ending scene always gets me with the "it's broken but still good", also the fact that not another film in the canon looks like this one makes it stand out. and the ending shot of stitch's picture attached to the weathered family photo, ugh. it's also a love letter to "weird little kids". i love it.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) - i mean, yeah. it's scary, it's silly, the queen's transformation into the hag still rules. "one song" is an underrated song.
The Emperor’s New Groove (2000) - this movie is legendary. the story of how it came to be is insane. i read that there is actually no completed screenplay of the movie??? that's how much they had to scramble to put this together? i would also put this on a list of great comedy films. eartha kitt, eartha kitt. i don't know what things would look like if we actually got kingdom of the sun, but we are so lucky to have this hilarious movie.
#i didn't mean to write this much#thank you hyperfocus#that extended release addy doing its thing#no the lion king would not make my top ten#i didn't have anything in the “revival” era or whatever it's called but wreck-it ralph would be high on my list#i still need to see 9 films in the canon#also i feel if i rewatched bambi it would make my top ten#i feel bad for not having fantasia#cause it's glorious too#disney#walt disney animation

So i feel the need to rant about one of Disney's most stupid ideas that at the same time could offer them opportunities that they refuse to take most of the time. The live action remakes.
Believe it or not but most people don't go see those movies because they like them, they go see them because their curiosity can't help but wonder how disney fucked up this time.
The live action Pinocchio is a good example of this, though mind that 2 other Pinocchio movies came out that very same year, but still that didn't stop the movie from being the biggest flop out of all 3 of them when they came out.
Another example is the live action little mermaid. They hyped this movie up, not just with Halle Bailey playing Ariel but also the fact that they managed to convince Melissa Comedy Icon McCarthy to play Ursula. This is a personal nitpick, but I loved Ariel's original animated sisters more than the one the live action Ariel had, why, because they acted like sisters. Also, don't even mention the atrocity they committed to Flounder. Believe me when I say that The Lion King live action is proof enough that Disney is not good at making CGI animals look good.
Then there is the case of the live action Mulan, to which they were acting like "yeah, were gonna represent Chinese culture more accurately. We're even hiring all Asian actors. " What they ended up doing was take away the entire purpose and meaning of the original animated movie.
Now as much as I'd like to keep on raging, the live action remakes do have a phew treasures among them.
The Maleficent movies were, in my opinion, the best live action remake movies disney ever made, and are the reason Maleficent is my favorite disney villain. They don't retell the story of the original animated movie scene by scene either. They tell an original story separate from it with its own setting, worldbuilding, and character development. They also take heavy inspiration from Celtic Fey lore and represent it in a somewhat endearing and accurate way. Also, Angelina Jolie absolutely slayed as Maleficent.
Cruella is not just a remake. It is there to tell us who Cruella is as a person, what her motivations are, and how she got to the point she was at in the original animated movie. Not to mention, the designs in the movie look actually good and like something you'd expect a character like Cruella to design.
The live action Cinderella is admittedly not the greatest out there, but it has its moments. Expanding lady Tremains character by giving her a gambling addiction, which is the exact thing that led to the family falling into poverty, is a nice add-on, and let's not forget Cinderella's dress. The way it glistened and sparkled actually made the dress look like it was made out of magic.
The Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland movies might be a controversial one to put on here, but i personally found them quite fun to watch. A big part of this is that, in a way, you could see these movies as sequels to the original 1951 animated movie. There's also the fact that, to me personally, the Tim Burton version of Wonderland actually felt scary and unnerving in several parts. An example would be the Red Queen's moat of decapitated heads.
It is true that Disney's live action remakes are more often fuck ups than thumbs ups but let's at least appreciate the phew good ones we do have.

Disney Girls Like You (Disney Evolution) — PattyCake Productions music video
youtube
Art is often inspired by other art. When the PattyCake guys saw the music video for Maroon 5's "Girls Like You", they got the urge to recreate its visual style with their own established roster of Disney princesses, heroines, and villainesses. Come along for a journey through 80 years of animation brought to life.
Details:
title: Disney Girls Like You – The Evolution of Disney Ladies (feat. Maleficent Mistress of Evil)
performers: Mike Marin (animator), Olivia Adkins (Snow White), Michelle Knight (Evil Queen), Leah Lowman (Cinderella / Elsa), Andrea Stack (Lady Tremaine), Rachel Copeland-Evans (Alice / Vanessa), Jaimz Dillman (Queen of Hearts), Anna Ricks (Aurora), Helaina Wize (Maleficent / Mother Goethel), Tiffany Trilli (Cruella De Vil), Emma Dahlin (Ariel), Emoni Wilkins (Ursula), Tiana Akers (Belle), Briana Fogden (Jasmine / Esmerelda), Ciara de Leon (Pocahontas), Raven Wynn (Mulan), Katie Leatherbury (Giselle), Breauna Horsham-Washington (Tiana), Allee Otwell (Rapunzel), Emily Gorsuch (Merida), McKenzie Helene Callahan (Anna), Darian Taylor Waes (Moana), & Tony Wakim (featured vocals)
original song / performers: "Girls Like You" by Maroon 5, feat. Cardi B
written by: Adam Levine, Henry "Circut" Walter, Brittany "Starrah" Hazzard, Jason Evigan, & Gian Stone
arranged by: Layne Stein & Tony Wakim
release date: 15 March 2019
My favorite bits:
swapping out the pop-rock instrumentation for more a Disney-esque orchestral sound
the panning of the echoed lyrics to match the movement of the camera
getting a closer look at so many of the amazing costumes they'd made over the previous few years
the flash from Vanessa to Ursula and back (and Emoni's fantastic villain laugh 😈)
those octaves on ♫ "Maybe I know that I'm done…" ♫
reversing the direction of rotation after the bridge
Trivia:
Most of the actors reprised their roles from PattyCake's "Unexpected Musicals", "Villains Lair", and "Princess Academy" series. Some have doubled up or subbed for someone else due to availability issues.
There are a few new characters, though. Alice, Esmerelda, and Giselle all make their debut here. Giselle returned later in the year for the Princess Academy holiday special, and the following spring for the third episode.
The video title makes special note of Maleficent because the live-action sequel was released later in the year. Ironically, that was one of the roles they recast. Leah, who played the sorceress in their "Unexpected Musicals" series, was already doing double duty as Cinderella and Elsa. Alejandra, who plays her in "The Villains Lair" wasn't available during the filming schedule for this.
In addition to providing the vocals and costumes, Tony also drew the artist's sketches. He'd studied animation at the Rhode Island School of Design with the ambition of working at Disney before the studio shut down its 2D division.
The circling movements were created with help from The Strolling Piano, who Layne knew through his sister-in-law.
Sharp-eyed VoicePlay fans will recognize the studio as Rayne's Room, where the guys have filmed many of their music videos, particularly before PattyCake had a space of its own.
This video reached 200,000 views in less than a week, which Layne and Tony were pretty excited about.
PattyCake released a nifty making-of video a week after this one.
youtube
The first Royal Vanity video that the guys teased was released three weeks later.

The Vk’s: Gods and Pirates
A/N: Idk when I’ll be writing up Chapter 3 but I had this scene stuck in My head last night and had to write this up. Esme is My Original Character and is The Daughter of Esmeralda and Quasimodo. This takes place sometime after Hades and Megs break up and she starts dating Harry Hook.
I also wrote an Original song for My Fic. entitled ‘You lost Her’ and is a mix between D3′s “Do what you gotta do.” and D2′s “Space Between.”
Gif above made by me!
Chapter 4-Bittersweet Symphony
After Hades kicked out Meghana, for Maleficent,Meghana didn’t really have anywhere to go,until she stumbled onto A place called The Voodoo Arcade. You would have thought all the time that Meghana had spent on The Isle she would have known about this, but Meghana usually spent time with Hades, time that was spent mainly in his underground Cave like Home,Unless it was classes at The Dragon Hall,Meghana very seldom ventured out alone. And this was a place Hades never went,or never took her at least.
Meghana had heard about an unknown building that needed a special knock to get in though. {This Must be it.} Meghana thought to herself, but then sighed in defeat. She would never be able to get in if that was the case. And aside from sneaking into The Dragon Hall to sleep, something she didn’t advise given all the Villainous Teachers that where there,Meghana had no other place to go,Maleficent had too far of a reach and was friends with many of The Villains on The Isle, there was no way she’d be accepted into Even Ursula’s Fish and Chips Pub at this point,at least Meghana assumed not.
Tired,Hungry and defeated,Meghana sat on the steps to the entrance, hoping someone would eventually come out. Lo and behold someone did open The large caged door, none other than Dr. Facilier himself. He took one look at Meghana, invited her in and the rest was history.
It was this very same Arcade, her Home away from Home, that Meghana sat looking around at all the bright blinking lights of The Carnival and Arcade Games as well as The Giant Sign above the opening of The Buildings Entrance, years later. Meghana was so deep in thought that she didn’t noticed when Celia, Youngest Daughter of Dr Facilier, sat down next to Meghana.
“Dollar for your thoughts?” Celia smirked, holding out her Tarot Cards.
Meghana looked over at The Young Black Girl who had become one of her closest Friends, almost like a Sister as Dr Facilier had become like a Father to her. She smirked back. “Okay I’m game.” Meghana meant it in a joking manner, but she should have known not to joke about Tarot or The Occult in front of Celia, who took her readings seriously.
“Hey unlike These Games.” Celia gestured to the Arcade. “Tarot is not one of them.” Celia finished, quirking an eyebrow.
“Believe me Celia, out of everyone,I know.” Meghana reminded her. “DemiGod remember.”
“Oh yeah.” Celia shrugged, then raised her eyebrows at Meghana. “Also I wasn’t kidding about The Dollar.” She said holding out her hand towards Meghana and gesturing for The Money.
“isn’‘t it Penny for your thoughts?” Meghana replied.
Celia gave her a look, under her mass of curly brown hair. “This is The Isle, and I don’t do Penny’s.”
Meghana grinned and deposited a Crisp Dollar bill from her jacket. “Like Father like Daughter.” Meghana said with fondness.
“Better believe it.” Celia replied proudly,as Meghana deposited the money into Celia’s open palm.
Celia put the money away then laid out her Tarot Cards,The Backs of the cards were awash in color and intricate designs with little Voodoo skulls on the tops,at the table they were sitting at. Celia then grabbed 3 cards from the deck and threw them into the air, her powers making them glow green then land on the table in a row in front of them.
“Past,Present and Future.” Celia stated pointing at them one at a time,as she closed her eyes and focused.
Meghana was serious then as she watched Celia turn one over. Betrayal was written on the card in script,a staff with a green stone atop it shown before it was disintegrated by Celia’s magic.
“Well that no doubt represents yourself and Hades.” Celia tells her.
“And that Evil Witch Maleficent.” Grumbled Meghana with a sour look.
Before Celia could lift the second card, they heard a female voice as Dr Facilier greeted a young Romani Beauty with a bow and kiss on her hand. Celia and Meghana both looked up as Esme Quintessa,Daughter of Esmeralda and Quasimodo of Notre Dame Paris, walked confidently into The Arcade.
Esme’s Charm washed over everyone as was her power, just like her Mother who would then steal you blind,Esme smiled flirtatiously back at Dr.Facilier, then walked over to greet her oldest Friend at The Isle.
“Meggie!” Esme called Meghana cutely as she went to hug her and give her a kiss on the cheek.
“Esme?!” What are you doing here? I thought you were still on Auradon.” Meghana proclaimed surprised but happy to see her Best Friend.
“I am. But I missed you and we had a break so I decided to come for a visit.” Esme explained. Esme grew up on The Isle where she met Meghana, her Mother stole from the wrong person *ahem* The Beast, and was banished to The Isle along with Quasi who had terrorized the town after Esmerelda’s Banishment. After some consideration, thanks to Belle and The Core 4,King Adam let their Daughter Esme attend Auradon Prep.
Meghana noticed Esme looked different now,not as understated and her once Dark Curly mop of long thick hair was now in soft waves framing her face.
Celia didn’t looked overjoyed but it wasn’t Esme’s presence she didn’t like,it was the effect she had on everyone around her, especially males,in particular her own Father. “Dad. Gross, she’s practically My age...” Celia muttered in disgust. Eyeing her Father as he stared after Esme.
Esme eyed Dr Facilier as well but not in disgust as she replied with a wink. “Hey I’m almost 18.”
Dr Facilier looked down then, his face red as he straightened and cleared his throat. “Ahem. Well I’ll just leave you ladies to your business.” With a tip of his top hat he quickly walked off.
Esme watched him leave, letting out a small laugh. “Celia I think your Dad needs a Girlfriend.”
Celia rolled her eyes. “Not you.” Celia gave her a warning look, with a point of her finger.
Esme gave her an innocent look. “What?” Meghana laughed at Celia’s look,as Esme ruffled Celia’s hair affectionately. “Kidding. I’m not interested in your Father like that, silly.”
“Then don’t encourage him.”Celia muttered under her breath, but gave Esme a small genuine smile in return. Then turned back to Meghana. “Okay like My Dad said can we get back to business please?”
“What business? A reading?” Esme asked as she sat on the edge of the wall. crossing her legs.
At their nods Esme continues, “For Meggie so it’s about...” Esme stares at Meghana squinting her eyes as she tries to read her. “Hades.” Esme finishes, confident she’s right.
“How did you?” Meghana looks at her in surprise then shakes her head. “Nevermind. you are both too much.” Meghana gestures between Celia and Esme as they exchanged looks, more alike than at first glance.
“It’s pretty obvious even if I wasn’t reading you. “You “complain” about Hades and Maleficent so much I’m surprised Harry isn’t sick of it.” Esme stated, making air quotes at the word complain.
“He’s used to hearing Uma complain about Mal. and I don’t-” Meghana starts to defend herself but Esme puts up a hand to stop her. “You do.”
Celia nods in agreement.
“You two have some unfinished business, that you need to sort out. Right Celia?” Esme looks over at The young Louisiana Fortune Teller.
Celia pulls the second card in the reading and presents it. “The Cards never lie.” It showed a man with blue hair and a grey robe.
At Meghana’s unsure look,Esme got up and walked over to her, gesturing for Meghana to stand. “Hey I know I’ve been gone awhile but it’s obvious you're still broken up over how things ended between you two.”
“But it’s been-”
Esme interrupted Meghana once again before she could talk herself out of it. “16 years. I know but being Gods I have a feeling that’s just a flash in the pan for you. You need to go talk to him.” Esme told her, looking Meghana in the eyes,as if reading her thoughts Esme continued,”We’ll deal with Harry if he shows up. Don’t worry.”
“Easier said than done.” Meghana sighed brushing a strand of lavender hair out of her eyes. “Ok fine. I’ll go see him.” Celia takes her hand reassuringly. “ You got this.” Celia grabs the last card with her free hand, the card still face down and places it into the inside of her jacket. “For safe keeping,You don’t need to know your future yet.”
Meghana gave her a smile letting go of Celia’s hand then giving the girls a warning look said. “DON’T tell Harry.”
“Our lips are sealed.” Esme told her.
“What about Dizzy?” Celia asks. referring to lady Tremaine’s Granddaughter and the second youngest in there group of Friends.
“Only If she asks.” Meghana starts to walk out when Celia calls after her. “You forgot the key!”
Meghana deposits a large intricate Key from her pocket. Dangling it out for them to see. “ I got my own.” With a smirk and a wave of her fingers at her friends,Meghana walks out of The Arcade and out into the late afternoon rain. Heading towards The Underground.
Meghana took a deep breath as she turned the key into the lock of the large cage doors that read Get Out in large metal strips across the front. Meghana heard the bark of Cerberus,Hades Giant 3 headed Dog,but knowing that Cerberus was one still in The Underworld and two that the bark was just a recording, didn’t bat an eye as she walked into The Underground Mine that Hades, and herself once upon a time, currently called home.
Meghana ignored the slow bike positioned on the tracks, knowing she could walk faster to her destination. When she finally reached the uneven stairs though,Meghana hesitated. {What if he doesn’t want to see me.} Meghana brushed the thought aside and quietly walked down the steps.
Yes Meghana wanted,or needed rather,to talk to Hades but she was prepared to take her time and if he was asleep she didn’t want to wake him. The sound of those barking Dogs were driving her mad though,so she slowly lifted the needle off of the record player, careful not to scratch it.
Meghana looked around then and spotted Hades where she’d knew he’d be,Celia being his errand girl had told her he liked to take naps in the afternoon that and “He’s always asking about you.”
Sure enough Hades was asleep in his favorite chair with the fur blankets layed over it,one of his legs draped over the arm rest, and one arm dangling over the back.
Before she knew what she was doing Meghana had walked slowly behind him, gazing at his sleeping form, sunglasses still on,then she noticed his Blue stone ember sitting on the table beside him. {I wonder if it would still work for me.} Meghana went to touch it but stopped when she heard a sleepy voice say. “I know you’re here.”
Meghana’s heart hammered in her chest, butterflies doing somersaults in her stomach,as she kneeled to look at Hades, fully awake now with his head resting on the armchair facing her.
Hades removed his sunglasses and wiggled his fingers at her. Meghana wasn’t scared just nervous,he still had that affect on her,as they searched each other face. “Hi.” Meghana managed to say quietly.
After a beat Hades asked. “So long time no see Megs. Now WHY are you here?”
Meghana finally got up the courage to speak. “I just wanted to talk.”
Hades scoffed at that, smirking and stood up. “16 years and now you want to talk.”
Meghana stood up as well, talking to him even though he wasn’t facing her. “I should be the one angry not you. You’re not the one who gave up everything and then was discarded like I was nothing!”
Hades whirled on her then,if his hair could still light up it’d be Orange by now. “I have made My sacrifices,I gave up My Godhood for you. and I made my mistakes...”
“So being with me was a mistake now?” Meghana asked in a challenging tone, crossing her arms.
Hades anger seemed to simmer down,as he looked away. “No letting you go was.”
Meghana’s own anger dissipated as she stared at Hades who was now looking at her with sadness and regret in his blue eyes.
“ I hated myself for falling for that witch and abandoning you like that. I never once stopped thinking about you.” Hades admitted, self loathing lacing his words.
“ Then why didn’t you come see me before now?” Meghana asked.
“Why didn’t you? Celia and Her Dad said you had moved on,I didn’t want to get in the way,as much as I really wanted to just steal you away. I didn’t want you to hate me,any more then you already do.” Hades looked down in sadness,an all too common feeling as of late.
This was not The God that Meghana knew, apart of her wondered if it was all an act. She wanted to believe him but he was right, she was still hurt. {Only one way to find out.} Meghana thought to herself and after a beat she started to sing.
Meghana- I didn’t know what you were going through,I thought that you were fine, you hid it so well.
Hades- I was a god now I’m nothing,I lost everything when I lost you.
Meghana- You didn’t lose me,you left me. Abandoned me like I was nothing. All for the Sorceress Supreme,That old bat. Maybe My Father was right.
Hades- I was bewitched. Intoxicated by the power I no longer had. I never forgot you, that’s why I left her. Left My Daughter. Just for you.
Meghana-You’re a little too late,I’ve moved on. I won’t fall for you again.
Hades- With who? That Pirate Boy? He’s not a God,he can’t give you what I can.
Meghana- And what would that be? Hurt,Betrayal,Embarrassment. That the once Queen of a God,was now pushed out to live on the streets. if it weren’t for Uma and Harry I’d be nowhere right now.
Hades- You’re resilient remember? didn’t my betrayal make you stronger? aren’t you more powerful because of it.
Meghana- Would you like to see how much?
Hades- Darling You can’t kill a God
Meghana- No but I can hurt one
Hades- Already happened sweetness. I still looked after you in secret once again,I steal Souls Dear, what were you expecting Flowers?
Meghana-you’re right, what was I expecting? Maybe some decency, from the one I thought loved me.
Hades- I did.
Meghana- Nah you only loved My powers.
Hades- Oh little Demi Goddess how wrong you are. I didn’t risk everything, just to use you for your powers, just to make them dark like mine is. Don’t forget who gave it to you. ;)
Meghana- Yeah you gave me everything, then left me with nothing! But hey you did what you had to do.
Hades- How does it feel? C’mon let it out.
Meghana- Don’t patronize me,because I’m more powerful up there then you are down here, now just a would be God.
Hades- Oooh. Now who’s hiding, you don’t need to remind me,at least I’m not pretending. Hiding away My feelings.
Meghana- What Feelings? you don’t have any for me. I don’t need a fallen lord when I’ve got a Pirate King!
Hades- Are you sure about that? You can act like this meant nothing, but I still remember, everything…
Meghana- Nuhu Not this time. You lost me.
Hades- I still miss you…
Meghana- Too bad. You lost me
Hades- I still want you…
Meghana- I don’t…I can’t.
Hades- We can,And I still love you.
Meghana- Well I can’t love you, you’ll just leave me
Hades- I won’t leave you again
Meghana- You already have, Mmmm you lost me…
Hades: You can Heal me
Meghana- You’ll just burn me
Hades-I still need you
Meghana- But You still lost her,oh you lost her….
After the song ended they stayed with their heads close together, foreheads touching, eyes closed for what seemed like forever. Until finally Meghana was the one to pull away first.
“I should go” Meghana said quietly.
“Or you could stay.” Hades whispered back, his eyes searching hers.
But Meghana dashed any hope they had. “I can’t. Harry-”
Hades interrupted Meghana’s reply with a wave of his hand but gave her a sad smile. “I get it. Megs I am-”
It was Meghana’s turn to interrupt Hades.”I know. Me too.” With one last look and a touch of hands,Meghana turned and walked away. Leaving The God of The Underworld alone with his Demons.
A/N: I wanted to write Harry into this chapter as well, but it got too long. I will be doing Harry’s POV in the next chapter! It’s turning into a love triangle, which wasn’t my intention but the story writes itself.

Nothing Else Matters

It all started with Cruella. A lady so evil and so insane that she made her own son into her slave. But her son was gone. Condemning her to life on the Isle while he ran into the sunset with that furry mutt on his heels.
However, there was one more person that Cruella had to keep her entertained. Her son’s girlfriend, Faline Cheshire, who despite not liking Cruella for her treatment of Carlos absolutely adored her fashion sense. So while Carlos was living it big in Auradon, Faline was getting her hands onto any kind of fabric she could and paying Cruella to make clothes for her and her friends. Strangely enough, this is what keeps Cruella calm and before you know it, De Vil’s Fashion is back to being a big name even if it is only on the Isle. Cruella started giving kids work to keep them off of the streets and teaching them designing. Faline being her top and favorite student. Always dressed in one of a kind De Vil clothing. Even a fashion line dedicated purely for her.
But Faline didn’t stop there. She goes on to the Evil Queen and asks for beauty lessons to go alongside her new clothes. This kept the Evil Queen’s mind off of her daughter. When Faline was too busy with her fashion designing at Hell Hall, she sent her best friend, Diamond Hearts, to the Castle-Across-The-Way to learn beauty tips. The two quickly looking for any kind of left over makeup that was sent over to give to the Evil Queen. Diamond, a science prodigy, took to learning chemicals and teaching the Evil Queen how to create makeup. Evil Queen caught on quickly and started her own makeup line. Her best seller being Fairest Apples. Like Cruella, her name caught on big on the Isle and soon the Castle-Across-The-Way became a beauty school. Diamond being the top and favorite student. Having her makeup done by the Evil Queen herself. A makeup line dedicated purely for her.
Though what’s beauty without the right hair to match your clothing and makeup? Good thing, Faline was best friends with Anthony Tremaine. There were already enough people to work there, but that didn’t stop Faline from reaching out to Lady Tremaine and the Wicked Stepsisters to give out tips for better hair care. While the wicked grandchildren were down in the salon, you can guarantee the House of Tremaine turned into a hair school. No one got a hair license until they went through the program. Faline and Anthony and Diamond and Diamond’s brother Spade turned an abandon warehouse into a bigger and more spacious beauty salon for Curl Up N Dye. Anthony and his brothers and male cousins quickly taking over to being barbers and showing other guys how to keep their hair up. Using Diamond’s science knowledge to make shampoos and conditioners for the people around.
Eventually, you’re going to need a store to buy all of this from? Well, you better believe Faline made her way to Jafar’s Junk Shop with Spade in tow and tore basically everything apart and fixed it up to be the best store on the Isle. Hair care, sketchbooks, makeup brushes, fabrics? Faline made sure Jafar had it all and put Spade in charge of security. No one was stupid enough to go against the son of the Queen of Hearts especially not when Harry Hook tried to steal a bottle of ocean spray shampoo and Spade swiped at him with his sword screaming OFF WITH YOUR HEAD! Faline smirked as she worked from the inside to turn the Isle around, but that didn’t stop her dreams of going to Auradon and being reconnected with Carlos.
After a while, Faline noticed that more kids were being on the streets. More kids for those good for nothing perverts and rapists to get to. So she reached out to the Gaston family. The kids needed to learn how to defend themselves and some of the other stores and the schools are going to need security detail. (There was a nasty fight between Mother Gothel and Drizella Tremaine inside of Castle-Across-The-Way). It was honest work; not really villainy but it brought money in.
Faline wanted to honor Carlos’ dedication to keeping his grades up and being smart, so she went around to the Evil Queen, Jafar, Lady Tremaine, and Cruella and proposed the idea of discounts for those that scored high grades in class. They didn’t see the appeal until they noticed how some kids genuinely wanted to them to be proud of their grades, so they continued to encourage the acts and listen intently to the kids’ devious schemes and how they could’ve made them better.
It was actually Jafar who realized that there was still so much to do for the Isle. He put a suggestion box by the door to his shop for people to drop their ideas of what more could be done. He told Grimhilde and Cruella and the two of them also placed suggestion boxes. When Diamond and Faline heard of it, they went to Lady Tremaine to let her know of the change and she did so.
It was Faline with shaking legs and a near heart attack that suggested to the Big Bad Wolf and his pack to take to patrolling the streets at night. Curfews were set. No child under ten could out in the streets passed seven, fifteen had to go in a ten, and sixteen-eighteen had to be in by eleven o’clock and nineteen and up shouldn’t be out unless they had a job. If you get caught by the Big Bad Wolf or one of his pups, well it was up to him to decide your punishment.
It was Diamond and Spade’s idea to bring in the Red Queen. Wonderland Castle quickly became the Wonderland Mall. All of Cruella’s creations landed there with Mother Gothel (who worked after school and weekends) running a photography class and photography store. Her own daughter was one of the workers there. The Red Queen even moved her salon into one of the rooms that became a store.
No one was brave enough to go to the Isle of Doom. At least not yet. Faline and the others were determined to get the Isle running better.
The four friends were quickly becoming the child rulers of the Isle and you can very well guess that Uma and her band of pirates didn’t like that. Too bad for them, Faline had already hired Harriet Hook and her own pirates to be the day time police. And Harriet wasn’t one to back down easily, so Uma and her pirates were left in the dust. Well until Faline visited them and asked for Uma (and Ursula) ways to improve their restaurant. Before you knew, Ursula’s fish shack became one of the well-known businesses and Faline had given Uma more people to work with to cut down on her work load. In exchange, Ursula took to creating her cleaning supplies for Jafar to sell. Houses had never looked better.
With Uma having so much more time now with a better working schedule, Faline asked her to make way for evenly distributed supplies from the barge and asked for the pirates to make sure that each thing got sent to the right people. Uma, who uncharacteristically, felt in debt to Faline immediately, went to work with it. Fabrics were carefully sent to Cruella and GIL DO NOT WASTE THAT PAINT ONTO THOSE FURS OR SO HELP I WILL LEAVE YOU TO FEND FOR YOURSELF AGAINST CRUELLA! HARRY, IF YOU PUT DOWN THAT HOOK, YOU WOULDN’T HAVE TO WORK ABOUT ANY OF THAT LIQUID FOUNDATION FALLING ON YOU!
But the Isle needed someone in charge. Auradon now had King Ben and his Lady Mal. The Isle had no one. Maleficent was gone. Turned into a lizard and even when she was there, the Isle was never this organized. So Faline and Spade went searching for someone to put in charge. Mainly because going through that suggestion box was horrible and Faline hated paperwork on top of homework and incomplete fashion designs. The Isle needed someone fair and dare they say, good, to keep it from going back to hell. So they went to Yen Sid, who understood that actions had consequences and Diamond stated that he was a very good teacher. Yen Sid agreed, but Faline had one more trick up her sleeve. She is a villain kid. Yen Sid may be the equivalent to the king of the isle, but he need the majority vote of his senate to make the changes. Faline made sure to put Cruella, Jafar, Grimhilde, Red Queen, Lady Tremaine, Dr. Facilier, Captain Hook, Gaston, and a representative for the Big Bad Wolf into the seats of power. Cruella, Evil Queen, Lady Tremaine, Dr. Facilier, Gaston, and Captain Hook were now principals of their schools.
Cruella’s School of Fashion
Grimhilde’s School of Beauty
Lady Tremaine’s Hair School
Dr. Facilier as the principal of Dragon Hall
Captain Hook as the principal of Serpent Prep
Madam Mim as the principal of Witch School
Gaston’s School of Defense
But to everyone’s surprise, it still wasn’t enough. Some of the kids took no interest in all of the new opportunities before them and parents were getting concerned, so Faline proposed a new idea to the Council-Of-Renewed-Evil (they chose their name and well Yen Sid was too busy with paperwork to get around to changing it). The idea was for to start sports teams. Everyone was for the idea so Serpent Prep and Dragon Hall and Witch School now had tourney and cheerleading teams. Shun Yu was the coach for the Dragon Hall’s tourney team and Clayton was the captain for the Serpent Prep’s team and the Horned King as the coach of for the Witch School’s team. Yzma took on to being the Dragon Hall’s cheer coach. Nasira was the coach of Serpent Prep’s squad with her daughter, Jade, as the head cheerleader. Madam Mim just however took on being the coach for their cheerleaders herself. It took awhile for things to work out. Jay wasn’t the only one who was raised around the concept of there’s no team in I, but once the kinks were worked out things blossomed. Parents were signing their kids up left and right. Someone came up with the ideas of shows and next thing you knew, the Ringmaster had started up a theatre school and shows were performed every two Saturdays.
And since Jafar had his shop to run, Diamond suggested that the Mad Hatter be in charge of the bank. Everyone thought it was a horrible idea until he nearly tore the town apart looking for the person who tried to cheat him out of 25 cents. You’d find him sitting inside of his shop with rows of hats behind him (Cruella De Vil and his originals, mind you) filing up other hats with coins and writing down exactly how much were in them and who they came from and how they were going to be distributed. You had a saving account for your child’s future? Which color/pattern/shape hat you want?
Maleficent’s goblins were usually causing mayhem around the Isle, but Faline wasn’t having that. She tricked them all to the docks and forced them to stay there. Uma had taken to putting the goblins to work and they took their jobs seriously. No one wanted to deal with Ursula if they didn’t show her daughter some respect. That left the Slop Shop needing employees, but some of the people of Wonderland (that were unreasonably condemn to Isle) took it up and soon different drinks were coming out. Even decafe coffee became a choice.
Some places didn’t need to be touched. They just caught on to the flow of everything. Troll Town was quick to start giving discounts for massages and you can guarantee that Hook’s Inlet was doing good business. (Faline was surprise when Hook himself offered fishing lessons. She was less surprised when Mr. Smee offered the swimming lessons). Tick Tock Croc though became a lifeguard. No child was going to drown on his and his own descendants watch.
Jail Time became a real thing and Faline and Spade secretly found it hilarious. Who was actually dumb enough to commit crimes in jail? Turns out a good amount of people. Judge Frollo became well an actual judge. Faline found it ironic considering he’s committed the worse crimes. But she said nothing because she did eat at Frollo’s Creperie. He worked alongside Gaston and Hook and the Big Bad Wolf to have good officers. Clayton (though coach of the tourney team) was the sheriff. Parents slept a little better a night knowing their children were safe (they’d never admit to caring about their wellbeing though).
When Mal came back to the Isle, you better believe everyone who is anyone heard about it. Harry, who in this world didn’t steal from Dizzy but came to collect money for the last amount of debt she owed to Jafar’s shop for hair dye, immediately told Uma who told Faline who said to handle it on her own. If it got anymore out of hand, then they’d go to Yen Sid and make him put her to work and use her leverage with Auradon to help out more.
When Faline heard about the pirates kidnapping the King of Auradon, you better believe that she was pissed. But when Uma told her of the plan of getting the wand and taking down the barrier to make sure the Isle gets better, she was all for the plan. But she still took some of the pirates away because Edgar Balthazar and Peg-Leg Pete suggested the idea of fixing some of the old buildings up. So while Mal and the VKs were getting ready for a showdown against Uma and her pirates, Faline was busy helping the vendors in the marketplace get ready to move into the buildings. She puts Madame Mim in charge of mail with a threat that if it isn’t handled right, that she’d be sure that Scar could find something entertaining to do with her.
But it was when word got out that Carlos was back on the Isle did the plan change. Faline marched her way to the Pirate’s Bay and watched on the sidelines as Mal tried tear down Uma. Going as far to let her eyes shine green, but Faline had worked with the baddest of the villains and she noticed two things. For one, she nearly slapped herself in the face when she remembered they were on the Isle where magic did not work. And two, even if it did, that wand might have looked majestic, but it gave off no vibes of power. She recognized it as a fake.
When Uma pulled Harry back, Faline made herself known.
“Don’t even bother, Uma. The wand’s a fake!”
The VKs and the girl that Faline didn’t recognize all jumped not knowing where her voice was coming from. And that made Faline smiled the cheshire’s grin. She might not be able to disappear like her dad, but she was just as good as hiding as if she wasn’t there. But still, she walked to the front of the ship and casually plucked the wand out of Mal’s hand.
“Even if this was the real wand, it wouldn’t work here,” Faline hissed. She cut her eyes over to Carlos, who stared at her in shock and confusion, before looking over to the King. “Release the King.“
Immediately the pirates began protesting, but Faline silenced them with a look. “Release him. We don’t need his help. We’ve been making the Isle better without him and we’re going to continue to do so.”
Faline and Uma looked at each other and Faline could see it. Uma understood. They really didn’t need Ben. They’re going to make the Isle a better place and one day, when they get free, Auradon’s going to wish they never forgot about them.
Uma nodded her head, “Let him go, Harry.”
He pouted, but did as told even when Gil was quickly getting his father’s words out to the young king. Harry cut him loose right beside Faline who turned to look at him. She pressed her nails to his face and Ben winced. He could feel how sharp they were, but she forced him to look at her.
Uma raised an eyebrow before turning to look at the VKs. Carlos was still staring at Faline liked he couldn’t believe that she was there and was that guilt in his face? Evie, who Uma heard from the barge drivers had become a fashion designer and was incredibly smart, was staring at the outfit Faline wore. Jay didn’t care for what Faline was doing. He was too busy making sure that the pirates didn’t get out of hand. The girl Uma didn’t recognize was doing the same, but she was also watching Faline and Ben. But Mal stared down Faline and Ben with her eyes shining. Faline turned her eyes to Gil, “Write this down.”
Gil looked at Uma for confirmation and she nodded. He immediately pulled out his journal and pencil from the inside the pocket of his shirt and went to stand beside Faline.
“We may be letting you go, but we never forget a face. Villains may be stuck here, but you are in debt to us. Look at how your father and his friends and associates have condemned us. We may be villains, but we still bleed like you. We deserve better than this and you owe us. And trust me, there are so many ways to you start, but for now, our schools new better books. No ripped or missing pages. We need more medicine. And you better make sure, Cruella’s get hers. Our girls need better menstrual supplies. We most definitely need better food, and I’m not talking about any leftovers. We want fresh food because we deserve it just like you do.”
Gil didn’t need to be told what he needed to write down. He knew on instinct and wrote as quickly as he good. “That’s just the basics. Mal and her little friends have lived here. I’d let them be the ones to tell you what else we need to survive.”
Gil handed the paper to Faline who turned to him and smiled, “Thank you, Gil,” before she let go of the king’s face, gave Ben the paper, and pushed him towards his girlfriend.
“Leave. And if you ever come back, I won’t be so nice as to jump in. They aren’t the only ones that have a bone to pick with you,” she stated before she sauntered off away from them all. Uma watched as Faline didn’t even spare a glance in Carlos’ direction, but she knew the girl was going to break down. Just as she knew that there was heartbreak and guilt on the boy’s face.
When Mal and the others left, Faline reappeared. This time with a burning anger in her eyes. In her hands was Mal’s spell book, she looked at Uma and gave her one request. “Either you go tear Auradon down or bring back supplies for the Isle. I don’t trust any of them to do so.”
And Uma left to do exactly that leaving Harry in charge of the pirates. Faline needed to take her mind off of seeing Carlos so she made her way to Hell Hall and to the private room that Cruella gave her and worked on her designs. She brought them to life as she listened to Cruella hum in the room down the hall as she also worked on her own designs or grade papers.
When she learned about Uma’s failed attempt to bring down Auradon and save the Isle, she didn’t tear the girl down. Told her she did a good job and now she had an epic story to tell the munchkins. But she did surprise herself and Uma with a hug when she learned of all the supplies and all of the fresh food she conjured up from Mal’s spell book. It was right on the outskirts of the Isle, so Faline went with Uma and her pirates and Harriet and her pirates to bring everything. They evened out everything to give a respectable amount to each vendor and make sure that Jafar had enough room to now supply all of extra medicine.
Though no one was prepared for the day when Auradon’s guards tracked Faline down to Maleficent’s old rented castle that now served as City Hall. He held out the four requests for Faline, Diamond, Spade, and Anthony to come to Auradon. And Faline knew in her heart that Carlos was the one who brought her friends’ names up because she was one hundred percent sure that King Ben hadn’t met her friends. After a lot of conversing with the Council-Of-Renewed-Evil, they accepted the request and Faline and their friends handed over their leadership spots. Faline gave hers to Uma. Madeline (daughter of Mother Gothel) took over for Diamond. Anthony was going to give his to one of his family members, but Lady Tremaine suggested giving to someone else. No other grandson of hers had Anthony’s charisma, so he gave his spot to Diego De Vil. Spade wanted to make sure that Jafar’s shop was protected on all accounts so he gave his position to Hadie (son of Hades).
Nearly everyone on the Isle was out the day, the four left. Despite being supposedly unemotional villains, there was a lot of crying and hugging going on. Cruella even going as far to give Faline one of her sketchbooks full of designs and Faline promised to make sure Auradon knew about the De Vil fashion line. The four promised to put everything they learned to use.
And despite the four of them leaving to go to Auradon, the Isle continued to move forward even with them away. Just as they hoped. --
In Auradon things were a little different when they heard about the next four children coming to there. Despite it being the Royal Wonderland Twins, daughter of the Cheshire Cat, and Cinderella’s wicked step grandnephew, no one complained (well Chad complained. Anthony hadn’t even made it to the campus, but Chad had already made him his arch nemesis). Nevertheless, a lot of the students and staff came out to welcome them.
The limousine pulled up and slowly descended to a stop. The driver got out and opened the back door and it was as if time stood still. Everyone waited with baited breath before a blood red heel stepped into the sunlight. Pale legs covered by a pair of black fishnets followed. Then a blood red skirt. A black and red corset doubled as a shirt. Arms covered by a blood red jacket and black fingerless gloves ran through red hair as everyone stood in awe.
Diamond, Princess of Wonderland, Daughter of the Queen of Hearts.
A small smirk played across her features before she stepped to the side as black combat boots followed her out. A darker shade of red skintight leather pants covered the legs, but nothing but a simple black open vest covered the body. Swoons were heard as the boy flicked his jet black hair with a patch of red out of his face.
Spade, Prince of Wonderland, Son of the Queen of Hearts
No one said a thing as he shared a glance with his sister before moving for the next body.
The next person to get out of the limo had looks that put Chad to shame (and will further strengthen his hatred). Beautiful curly ginger hair framed his face. A perfect smile. Biceps, triceps, and all the other ‘ceps were all on display in his skin tight magenta muscle shirt. His waist and legs were covered by a pair of khaki cargo pants with magenta combat boots.
Anthony Tremaine, Son of Anastasia Tremaine, Grandson of Lady Tremaine
Still, no one said a thing as they waited for the last of the four, but she didn’t step out of the car.
She just appeared.
Black cobbled stilettos showed first. Tan legs and a waist covered by a short high waist periwinkle skirt were next. A matching periwinkle corset covered by a black leather jacket. (Carlos realized with a jolt of pain that it was one of the few jackets he left back on the Isle. One of the rare gifts his mother gave him). One thing that stood out was the large unnerving smile made into a necklace and the black cat ears headband that were just the right shade to match the heather, periwinkle, and lilac hair. Looking at her was like looking at Kitty Cheshire from their childhood show Ever After High. A smirk danced on her lips with one fang tooth slipping out.
Faline Cheshire, daughter of the Cheshire Cat (Future Mayor of the Isle of the Lost)
They all blinked innocently as if they didn’t notice all of the rising sexual tension growing in their presence. The original four VKs knew they noticed, but still no one said anything. At least not until, a small figure broke apart from the crowd and ran straight for Anthony. He crouched down instinctively and caught his youngest cousin in his arms lifting her in the air and spinning her in a circle. The crowd collectively awed and the surrounding paparazzi let their cameras fly as they began to take pictures of the four. They had wanted to ask questions, but they knew to wait until King Ben introduced and welcomed them.
When King Ben stepped forward, all four of their eyes shot to him and he nearly stepped back at the intensity of it all. But he prevailed on, Mal and her friends were a bit intimidating when they first came too. “Welcome to Auradon.”
And no one noticed but the first VKs as Faline and her friends relaxed and lost some tension in their stances. They watched as the others were introduced to some of the people around them. They watched as they spoke to the paparazzi, but it was one question and one answer that stood out to them the most.
“Miss Faline, just where did you get that outfit? Where did any of you get your clothing? An Evie original that was left on the Isle?”
No one noticed but the first VKs (and Ben and Doug and Jane and Lonnie) at the look of disgust that danced in their eyes at the mention of an Evie original.
“Oh no, darling,” Faline purred. She did a full 360 spin so everyone got a good look at her outfit. “This is a Cruella De Vil original with makeup done by the Evil Queen herself and hair and nails done by Lady Tremaine and hat and necklace gifted from Jafar.”
The crowd gasped lightly, but Faline continued to look at the reporter and camera. Diamond stepped to her side and smiled lightly. “You all seem to be under the impression that we’re here for some second chance from Auradon and be like the first four.”
Spade snorted and Anthony didn’t comment. He was too busy fussing over his younger cousin to care about anything else.
“Then why are you here?” The reporter questioned ready to have the big scoop.
“We’re here to advocate for better treatment for the Isle of the Lost,” Faline stated firmly. “Starting with better food and healthcare treatment. The Isle may fall under Auradon’s authority, but I read in the history book that each state that has a ‘villain’ locked away is under the jurisdiction of the law to provide for them and any of their family. And from here on out, you all will follow your own law. Our voices and our parents’ voices will be heard.”
Then the four of them huffed and turned away from the paparazzi making it clear that no questions (or pictures) were to be asked further. It was pure silence as Faline’s words rang in the air before the Fairy Godmother was shooing away the paparazzi and staff was getting the children to move on to class. Though hesitant, King Ben made his way to the new students and motioned for them to follow him.
They were going until Anthony stopped right beside Chad Charming. “Listen dude, I don’t care that your mom is my step-aunt. If you do anything to hurt Dizzy anymore, and I mean physically or emotionally or mentally, I will rip you to pieces.”
And was that the wrong thing to say at the moment. Well at least for Chad it was. Evie immediately turned towards the boy with glare that didn’t even begin to show how angry she was. Faline and Spade snickered at the look of fear that crossed Chad’s face as Evie (and Jay and Fairy Godmother) made her way to him. But they all followed with Dizzy (who protested that she was too old to be carried) tucked tightly into her cousin’s arms.
None of them said anything, but Ben kept turning to look at them so they could feel included in the conversation, but he notice how all of their eyes took in every exit. He noticed how all of their hands twitched to grab something (it wasn’t as bad Jay when he got here but it was there). He noticed how Anthony had put Dizzy down, but held a protective stance keeping the girls in his sight at all times and how he didn’t stray too far from Spade (not knowing it was mostly because Spade may need backup). He noticed how Spade glared at anyone that looked for too long, but somehow even his glare still had girls swooning.
It didn’t take long for them to get the dorms. Mal and the other VKs caught up to them quickly and Ben noticed how Faline tensed when Carlos came close to her. But nothing prepared him for the moment when Jane ran up excitedly to Carlos, kissed him on the lips, and the look of pain and heartbreak that crossed Faline’s face. Diamond had gasped quietly and reached out to touch Faline’s arms. Spade dropped his glare onto Carlos and wrapped Faline into his arms. Anthony glared death at daughter of the Fairy Godmother before turning a concern eye to Faline. Faline, who immediately, stepped out the couple’s proximity and nearly stormed off. But she kept a look of forced indifference on her face.
They reached the girls’ dorm first and Diamond quickly pulled her friend into it. Spade and Anthony gave her nod as some sort of message was passed between them, before Spade asked to be shown to their room. Mal felt a little cautious. Sure, they had basically told them the world that they cared little for Auradon and only wanted to see the Isle prosper. It could only be imagine how they planned to see that happen.
It didn’t take long to reach the boys’ dorms and they walked right in with Anthony pulling Dizzy along. She had noticed the tension in his body and set to work on getting rid of it by telling him of all of her classes and the jewelry she was making and how she even got to keep the money. Anthony smiled proudly at his younger cousin before Dizzy left him alone so he could unpack.
They didn’t say anything, but everyone could feel the subtle shift in the school.
The next few weeks the new four who for some reason went by the Cobras arrived in class with outfits that seemed even better than the ones they had on the day before. They made their way through quickly with classes and ignoring all of the stares of distrust they received. The days went on without an incident even at that one lunch when Faline noticed the picnic that Carlos was having with his new girlfriend. She wasn’t stupid. She saw the look in his eyes and noticed how in love he was with the girl. But Faline had spent months ignoring her heartache and she wasn’t going to let seeing it in person change that. So she simply turned away and went back to sketching out designs in her notebook.
The four of them snuck down docks were the barge was getting ready to take a new batch of crap over to the Isle when Faline stopped them. She and Diamond kept them distracted while Spade and Anthony switched out all of the rotten food with fresh food. But Anthony had insisted on leaving the almost-not completely rotten food on the barge because of all the different ways people were making use of them. They were careful with the fabric for Cruella and the makeup for Grimhilde and the hair supplies for Lady Tremaine. The boys made sure that the other valuables were carefully bubble wrapped for Jafar. Placed a sealed hat filled with the spare change they found for the Mad Hatter. Took in all of the supplies for women and men healthcare. But most of all, they made sure that Cruella had her medicine.
None of them mentioned the items that had obviously come from Snow White’s and Cinderella’s kingdoms.
They all watched with small smiles as the barge made its way over to Isle. And Faline smiled deep in her soul. She had helped fixed the Isle from the inside. Now it was time to work on it from the outside.
Eventually everyone calmed down from their excitement of the new kids, but Faline wasn’t having that. She knew from experience how you could get used to something and ultimately forget it.
With permission from Ben, she started up a rally in the middle of the school’s courtyard during her free period. She asked for things that they didn’t wear anymore and that they knew they weren’t going to wear anymore. She asked for things they no longer wanted. She did what she planned. She was advocating for a better life on the Isle. Most people thought she was joking and was just seeking attention. But she did it every day without fail and when she wasn’t rallying, one of her other friends’ were.
Soon they had boxes of items that could be sent over to the Isle. Faline spent a lot of her downtime when she wasn’t rallying or in class; designing clothes and bringing them to life or fixing the clothes that were to be sent off. She even kept a box of fashion magazines for Cruella. And also sent off photographs of the photo shoot she had in the outfits she brought to life from the sketch book Cruella sent her. And though despite how much it hurt her, she wrote about Carlos and how smart he was. She knew Cruella knew about the dog, so she wrote about it and how Carlos kept the dog fashionable and made sure he looked right and went along with Carlos’ outfits. She almost didn’t mention how he had a new girlfriend, but she went ahead and told her. She didn’t need Cruella finding out from someone else about her new daughter-in-law.
Diamond was doing something similar. She was breaking down the makeup and making sure each container was at least filled. She spent her downtime coming up with equations for makeup and wrote them down for the Evil Queen. She also sent the Queen a detailed list of all of the latest fashion trends and snuck in pictures of her makeup and Evie’s makeup to send her. But her favorite part of it all was when she wrote the letter about Snow White reinstating Evie’s princess title and how if Snow White didn’t end having a child, then Evie was the next in line heir to their kingdom.
Anthony had the best time though. He didn’t just send off and package hair care products. He didn’t just send off latest trends about hairstyles or extra money to put in their family’s pocket. He barely spoke about his own accomplishments. He mostly spoke about Dizzy and her undertakings. He told his family how Cinderella recognized him and Dizzy as part of the royal family (and by extent them also). He took on modeling as an extracurricular activity and you better believe that he was modeling a Faline Original, or a Cruella Original Design with a Dizzy Tremaine accessory. He sent it all off knowing that he was making his grandmother proud by bringing back honor to their families’ name.
Spade had a good time though. He always made sure that Diamond took the time out to write to their mother and father (making sure Faline did the same). But he knew Jafar would want to know his son, so he took to cataloguing all of his accomplishments. And boy, were there a lot. Jafar would see how his son became one the best athletes on the campus. He told him how his son had a good chance to go on to become a professional tourney player. (He didn’t mention how Jay had come into powers). Then he went on a rundown of all things that he was sending over to the shop. What they could do and some words to really make them sell.
Together, they all sat around making sure everything was ready for when it came to the Queen of Hearts opening up another part to the mall. They polished shoes and repaired any holes and stitches. When the Fairy Godmother heard of what they were doing, detention quickly changed into doing the same and if you needed extra credit, all you needed to do was grab some shoe polish, find them, and get to work. Diamond and Faline sighed in exhaustion the second they saw all of the books being donated, but they didn’t care. The kids on the Isle deserved it, so they took time to separate the books. Kids went in one stack. Teenagers in another. And the adults in the last.
But everyone knew that there was a tension brewing on the surface and they were all just waiting to see what would happen.
It was Family Day again. The four watched the proceedings go down uncaringly. They shuffled off into a corner by themselves where they could still watch the events, but also be out of the way. Diamond and Spade had been working on their homework. Faline had been switching between designing a new outfit for Anthony and looking at the reports sent back from Isle of the things going on. The champion game was coming up between Dragon Hall and Serpent Prep and they wanted them to come see it. The four were very much determine to go see it. Anthony was carefully watching his little cousin and keeping her in his sights at all times.
And then Chad and Audrey moved together. It didn’t seem like much until Audrey accidently bumped into Dizzy and Chad made the move like he was going to her but actually stepped on all of Dizzy’s fallen accessories. Dizzy didn’t say anything, but she did begin to cry silently. Anthony, however, wasn’t going to let that slide. He made his way over to the small group, but before he could get to close, Faline appeared right in front of him. She whispered something in his ear and he gave her an incredulous look. She stared back at him in all seriousness as she turned to help Diamond pick up Dizzy’s things while Anthony steered Dizzy away from the scene.
Spade though turned to look at Chad. “Anthony may be trying to turn over a new leaf with your family, but I’m not Anthony. But I do remember him letting you know he’d rip you a new one for messing with Dizzy and since he’s occupied right now, I’d be honored to do it for him.”
And then he punched Chad. Audrey didn’t know what to before Faline was in front of her. Anyone could tell that she was holding herself from punching the princess. “Go near Dizzy again and you would wish Ben left all of us on the Isle.”
Diamond though had had enough. She stood up in all of her beauty before fixing Chad and Audrey with a glare. “Faline, Brother. That is enough. These people are not worth our time.”
Spade and Faline stood still with Chad’s dress shirt still clutched tightly in Spade’s fist before he dropped him and stepped away. He patted Faline on her shoulder and the girl in question gave Audrey an even harsher glare and even hissed at her before turning and stalking away.
On their way out though, Faline caught sight of Jane in Carlos’ embrace. Her Carlos who looked at her with so much sadness and pain that it was suffocating, but looked at the girl in his arms with so much love that Faline would rather take his looks of pain than seeing it. Later that night, Faline sobbed in Diamond’s embrace. Diamond didn’t speak the words aloud, but it was clear in the air that the princess wanted Faline to let go.
So she did.
When the next day came, Carlos found a box outside of his door. He didn’t look to see who had sent it. He knew on instinct. He knew even before he opened one of the flaps and the Cheshire cat grin was looking at him. But when he reached into the box, he found the leather jacket that Faline wore on her first day in Auradon. (He didn’t understand why that hurt more than seeing the way she leaned into Spade or Anthony’s embrace).
When he emerged from his dorm, he heard in the hall how his mother supposedly wrote to Ben that she wanted Faline to have control of her fashion line. He didn’t believe it until he saw the sympathetic smiles from his friends and the excited and happy and tearful smiled on Faline’s face as her own friends congratulated her.
He and all of his friends were in the library when Fairy Godmother had connected a call made for the four kids. They watched as the kids talk happily with their parents about the things that they had going on in Auradon. They watched as they listened seriously to the things happening on the Isle. They all noticed how each of them took notes of different reports being told to them and what there was shortages of and what they were trying to do to fix it. They all watched as they talked to their mentors about their work. They all watched with burning jealousy as their mentors (their parents) express how proud they were of them.
But what changed it all was when Faline was crying and thanking Cruella for letting her have the fashion line and Cruella replied with, “It’s the least I could do for everything you’ve done for me. I don’t care who Carlos dates. You’ll always be my daughter-in-law.”
The room felt like it was too small as the Cobras ended their call before Faline burst into tears of sadness and rushed from the room. Her three friends gave out rushed declarations of gratitude to Fairy Godmother before they too were rushing out of the room searching for their friend.
Carlos avoided the looks of everyone especially Jane as he tried to go on about his day. By noon, everyone heard about how Cruella signed over her fashion empire and gave it to her ex daughter-in-law. By noon, everyone on the campus knew about Carlos and Faline’s past relationship. By the end of the day, blogs were questioning if his relationship with Jane would last with Faline in such close proximity. Even going as far as to point out flaws between the two girls and saying how Jane couldn’t compare to the daughter of Cheshire Cat.
Carlos hadn’t seen Faline since the incident in the library, but from the words whispered around the school, she still went to class and glared and hissed at anyone that brought up their past relationship and would disappear right in the middle of a conversation. But Carlos wasn’t really worried about Faline. He was worried about the conversation he was going to have with Jane. He wasn’t sure how he was going to deal with that, so he kept putting it off.
Until the day came for when the Cobras were returning to the Isle to watch a championship game, Ben hadn’t understood and Mal argued that they weren’t any sports on the Isle. Just chaos. But Faline was protective of her home. Of her roots. So she yelled back at Mal that things changed for the better when her and her mom left. The two girls nearly came to fight when their beautiful best friends both stepped in to calm them. Faline settled down quickly, but she was still determined to go the Isle.
So Ben proposed the idea of going also (Faline looked at him as if he was the biggest idiot in the world. This is who suppose to be leading us? Oh my badness, what has the world come to?). This led to becoming a field trip and so many people had wanted to go to the Isle of the Lost all of sudden.
Of course all of the villain kids immediately were on edge. Faline and Spade even going as far as to saying, “You didn’t want to come to Isle before and you didn’t want anyone coming off of it. Don’t try to turn into some tourist trap.”
But their words held no effect when Ben approved them all to go. It was Diamond and Anthony that went over rules to follow when going to the Isle and letting them know that their magic won’t work so don’t be stupid.
When they got to the Isle, Carlos and the first VKs cannot believe their eyes on how much better it look than the last time they were there. Buildings that were falling apart had been fixed up and turned into boutiques and salons and grocery stores. Jafar’s Junk Shop had grown in size and now he sold better things. Things he didn’t have to steal because they were sent just for him.
Jay didn’t find out until later that Jafar had wall filled with newspaper clippings sent from Spade of all of his accomplishments. He didn’t find out until later that Faline had made a replica of his tourney jersey and Jafar hung that up on the wall also. To know that his father was actually proud of him nearly made Jay cry in shock and happiness. He disappeared into the shop with his father for the longest amount of time before the game.
The same happened with Evie when she learned of Castle-Across-The-Way becoming a beauty school. Her mother had turned Evie’s wing of the castle into a shrine for her daughter. Pictures sent by Diamond were hung and framed on the walls. Even some of the Evie originals that Diamond bought were placed on models. (And Evie teared up when she realized that Diamond only bought the clothes to show them to her mom). Evie spent her time with her mom before the game.
Mal had wanted to go back to the castle that her mother had rented for them, when Spade mentioned offhandedly that it was now City Hall and all of their belongings were packed up and put in a basement in the Castle-Across-The-Way. So instead of going down that path, Mal took to showing around the Isle with Ben at her side and the other students following behind them. They even stood and watched as the Dragon Hall cheerleaders had a pep rally in the middle of the now less crowded market place.
When that was over, Anthony mentioned about going to the salon to get his hair did because he didn’t trust anyone in Auradon with his hair. Chad (who still felt bitter about his mother’s treatment) took to follow him and Dizzy. After all, his mother acknowledges them as family despite their past actions. It’s only right if he did the same. Diamond had told him that they were going to see their own parents before seeing their mentors and meeting up at the City Hall. Anthony had requested that someone buy him the new pair of silk pajamas Cruella created in the mall.
Faline agreed and she motioned for the rest of them to follow before she stopped in front of Hell Hall. Everyone could see she was holding herself back from going to the house, but there was really no need. Cruella herself rushed through the doors happy see her beloved student that was basically her daughter. A bright smile that was just as big as the Cheshire Cat’s grin spread across Faline faced before she running over to Cruella and hugging the lady tightly.
Carlos took note of how his mother looked. How she seemed healthier and saner. And to his great surprise, he didn’t even feel a pang of fear when she looked at him. But he’s going to be honest and admit that it did seem weird to see the guilt in her eyes. She invited him in and requested he brought along Jane. After all, it was proper for those in relationships to meet their significant other’s family. But Cruella also noticed the looks that Mal was sending her way, so she offered the home to more people. Horace and Jasper quickly moving around to make things neat for the guests even Carlos on instinct. It was his childhood home after all. He didn’t want to embarrass himself. (He’d later remember how well the house seemed and how things looked as if hadn’t aged in years). Cruella didn’t demand for her son to stop straitening things out because she was too busy doing the same. Moving papers that needed to be graded out of the way and placing her unfinished designs into folders.
Cruella had placed a sympathetic kiss onto Faline’s forehead. She may have not been the girl’s actual mother, but she saw the pain and heartbreak still dancing in the girl’s eyes no matter how hard she tried to hide it. If Cruella hadn’t work to become a better woman, she’d be beating Carlos and his little sweetheart for causing such pain for Faline. But alas, she had matured and found her way again. She knew that this was something she could not interfere in.
Spade, Diamond, and Faline made their way to the Wonderland Mall and then the door that separated the mall from the Castle. They each branched off to meet and greet their own parents before two hours later they met up again making their rounds across the Isle checking in with everyone. While they circled around, they picked up the stragglers. Carlos and Mal and Ben and their brood first.
They went by Ursula’s Fish and Chips to get a quick lunch and stopped by the Slop Shop to get drinks. Moved on to the Castle-Across-The-Way to pick up Evie before moving on to the pirates’ pipeline. Faline was greeted with bight smiles and hats tips from all of the pirates’ and a beautiful smile from Harry Hook.
“Careful, Hook, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were flirting with me.”
“Yer like me own catnip, sweetheart.”
(Carlos wouldn’t admit to himself that he was jealous.)
They picked up Jay afterwards who had an envelope that he gave to Aziz to give to his parents from Jafar. It wasn’t anything dangerous. Jay watched him write it himself.
Faline and Spade both went in and walked back out with bags. Spade straying behind for a little while holding what looked to be a serious conversation with Jafar.
The crowd follows them to the bank and watches as Faline and the Mad Hatter go head to head because how come you’re trying to charge me interest just because I want to donate my savings to the building of a bookstore? It took Spade entering the bank and calmly processing the situation before reminding Faline that half of her savings was already going to funding Cruella’s School of Fashion and the other half was split evenly into other things. Faline sighed before she apologizes to the Mad Hatter who graciously accepts her apology. Though he does write down the request of donations being made for the bookstore on his list to turn into the Council-Of-Renewed-Evil.
They make their way back over to Wonderland Mall and let them all go through the stores filled with Cruella De Vil originals and Faline Original Design outfits. The Wonderland kids share a smile as the see the store Anthony had requested to make in Dizzy’s name. The jewelry they asked the young girl to make for those on the Isle lined up neatly. They couldn’t wait to see the smile on her face when she saw it, but preferred to not be in the room when she let out her screech of excitement. The makeup and hair products and cleaning products made by Evil Queen, Lady Tremaine, and Ursula. They even smiled when they see how the princes and princesses bob their heads to songs by the Bad Apples and ask for directions to buying the albums.
They don’t mention to the princesses about how they were going to see the lead singer Diego De Vil in a few minutes.
Once they leave the mall (Faline making sure to buy the silk pajamas for Anthony and a matching set for herself), they all head to City Hall to meet up with Anthony and his small group. When they get there, the Auradon kids could see a different light in Chad and easily see the genuine smile he wears as he talks to his step cousins and how it slips into a glare at any man that so much as looks at Dizzy. When they asked him about it, he just shrugged and started showing off all of the drawing his younger cousins drew for him.
In City Hall, they have stay to outside while they hold a short meeting. Since Ben is king and technically the King of the Isle, they made sure he was brought in also. Uma was there and it was slightly awkward for the two. The meeting progressed without much fanfare. Reports were passed around and Uma actually helped Ben get a clear understanding of what was going on. By the time the meeting ended, the two of them were on good terms with Uma promising to get Ben a copy of the up to date reports on the Isle so he could help out more from his end.
And then it was game time. Sure, they let the guest to the Isle (which included Mal and her VKs) stay in their clothing, but Francis and the Cobras switched out. Right in the middle of city hall, Faline and Diamond and Madeline pulled off their leather jackets showing off another pair of corsets before turning around and being blocked from view by Anthony, Spade, Diego and Hadie as they changed into Faline Original Fan T-Shirts for Dragon Hall. Hadie and Uma were already wearing their Serpent Prep T-Shirts and left for the field. It was quick for Anthony, Spade, and Diego to change into the own shirts. Though it took a minute for Diego when some of the princesses realize that he was in fact the boy on the cover of their new CDs.
When they made it to stadium (which Faline and Spade were still proud to see because that field took forever to get right), nearly all the seats were taken. But Faline motioned them over to a section that was cleared away just for them. The princesses and princes of course feeling a little affronted over how the Cobras were treated with better respect than them. Faline and Diamond kissing Reza on the cheek when they notice he found a way to make the seat heat warmers.
The crowd cheers were deafening as the two teams made their way to the field. The Auradonians were slightly afraid when they saw the switch in the Isle Kids including Mal and the others. But they too quickly got into the game. It looked like Tourney, but it also looked how Jay played when he first tried out for the team. Faline and Diamond swooning when a boy from the opposing team blew a kiss at them.
“LONG LIVE EVIL!!!”
“WE RIDE WITH THE TIDE!!”
The Auradon kids’ didn’t really know what to cheer, but quickly caught on that the Dragon Hall Dragons screamed out Long Live Evil while the Serpent Prep Pirates yelled out We Ride With The Tide.
“HAPPILY EVER AFTER WITH A LITTLE FLAVOR!”
The Dragon Hall cheerleaders called out doing flips and stunts that the Auradon princesses couldn’t even dream of risk doing.
“OUR SAILS ABOUT TO BE SET!”
The Serpent Prep cheerleaders screamed as they too did what the Auradonians considered risky flips and stunts. They wouldn’t admit that both squads’ routines were flawless.
They didn’t even notice how into the game they got until the Serpent Prep cheerleaders yelled out HOOK ME as they made the winning score. The disappointed groan that game from their side shocked them all, but nothing shocked them more than when Harry Hook rushed over to the stands and kissed Faline as she was still leaning slightly over the fence.
Diamond’s squeals were heard all the way down the market place. The cheerleaders on each team each flipping and screaming at the sight. Even the boys from Dragon Hall made their way over and carried Harry around in a victory hold. Faline had a dazed smile on her face as she watched them carry Harry off.
(Carlos was not jealous. He was happy that Faline was moving on. She deserves it. But why does it hurt so much?)
Despite what they thought, the Auradon kids almost didn’t want to return back home. The Isle had a vibe that was fun with the underlying veil that was dangerous and they found themselves slowly become addicted to it. Spade was the one to notice and chuckled as he and Jay and the guards herded everyone back to the cars to return back to Auradon.
“Everyone has a wicked side.”
As time passed on, Faline and her friends were always going back to visit the Isle. They kept their grades up and took to visiting the other kingdoms around advocating for help for the Isle. Ben went with them whenever they went to Isle alongside Mal and some of his personal guard. Chad went sometimes to visit his younger cousins and he learned from some of his cousins how cut and style hair. So when he went to the Isle, he wasn’t Chad Charming, Prince of Charmington. He was just Chad, step grandson of Lady Tremaine and you better not look at him wrong because he has cousins that won’t hesitate to crush you like a bug. Chad took working in Curl Up N Dye while Ben and Mal and the Cobras went handled official business. Anthony would always come straight to the shop after the meeting was done and the cousins would get along fabulously. Chad always had drawing and pictures to take back to Auradon and back to Charmington to put up in his rooms and some to give his mother. Sometimes they’d bring Dizzy along who almost fainted when she had seen the shop in the Wonderland Mall dedicated to her. Chad more often than not had been the one to be always be seen with a piece made by her.
It was a slow but sure thing, but the villains slowly gave up on their idea for revenge (well except for Maleficent but she’s a still lizard so no one’s really trying to hear her thoughts).
Cruella’s fashion empire blossoms again this time under the control of Faline who took every pointer she could from her mentor. Her mentor who still took her medication responsibly and spent most of her time making clothes. One who proudly makes folders filled with Carlos’ grades and framed his report cards. And when he’s older and becomes a famous inventor, she proudly states how he’s her son and has a room in Hell Hall dedicated to all of his awards.
The Evil Queen’s makeup line blossomed partnering with Evie4Hearts more often than not. Her makeup was a big hit in Snow White’s kingdom. Diamond stood by her mentors’ side and continued to create makeup while her brother spent all of his time preparing to become King of Wonderland. Grimhilde encouraged both of her girls’ to go for the dreams and apologized to Evie for put finding a prince over her own wellbeing.
No one ever knew what was written in that letter from Jafar but Aladdin and Jasmine. But whatever it was, the city of Agrabah prospered and eventually became one of Jafar’s biggest suppliers. Jay also spent whatever time on the downside to work at his dad’s shop this time not having to worry about whose he’s going to steal from that day. Aziz even coming over to help with store. Jay and Jafar have serious conversations about Jay’s health and Jafar listens intently to Jay discussing his struggle with sports and some of the plays. Jafar giving advice to Jay after he got a rundown of everything. Helping Jay control his powers and letting him know that Jay may have been raised a villain, but he was not his father so just because he had powers didn’t mean that he was going to become evil. Giving Jay a locket with a picture of baby Jay and his mother on the inside and holding his son as he breaks down and cry.
Faline had slowly fallen in love with Harry as time moved on and her heart stopped breaking every time she saw Carlos and Jane. Though despite her feelings and how hard her heart hurt, she was there the day Jane broke up with Carlos. She had always been one of his shoulders to cry on and she would continue to be so no matter how hard she was hurting. The night they fell back into bed with each other, she waited until he was sleep before leaving to go cry in peace because she knew he didn’t sleep with her for love. He slept with her to get his mind off of Jane and she loved him so much that she let him. They continued on for a short while before she pulled away and buried herself into work until the day Harry found her slump over her desk sleep and constantly appearing and disappearing. He took to getting some of her workload done so she wouldn’t be so stressed and when Harry gave her an uncharacteristic shy smile, Faline could only think Oh, Diablo as she realized that she had started to fall in love with the pirate.
Faline watched with tears in her eyes as some of the munchkins on the Isle went on to become doctors, lawyers, designers, makeup artists but never forgot about where they came from. Ben writing over Queenship to Faline over the Isle and she rules her land with Spade, Diamond, Anthony, Uma, Harry, Diego, Hadie, and Madeline at her side. Keeping a strong alliance with Auradon and writing the Isle of Doom off to Mal.
Diamond, Spade, Anthony, and Faline shared proud smiles as the realized they completed their goal. They made the Isle better from the inside out and it was more beautiful than any outside help could’ve ever imagined.

-
“ Is this really necessary?” (Y/N) asked when Evie made her try the 10th garderobe, in her search for the ‘perfect look’, “ Of course, (Y/N) ! You need to fit into that pirate crew, remember what Mal said,-”
“ You can’t let anyone know who you are or else I’ll kick you out,” the both girl said in union, remembering how serious Mal was about this new plan of hers.
“ I just don’t get why she hates Uma so much, ” (Y/N) sighed
“ Something about their childhood, she never told me either,” Evie said while pulling out of her wardrobe another one of her pirate costumes she designed only for (Y/N), “ But I do know that if Mal kicks you out of our group, you’ll be on your own, she wouldn’t let me come see you ever again, ” Evie cried
“ That won’t happen, you’re my best friend, E. I’ll do whatever it takes to be in Mal’s group, for you.
(Y/N) closed her eyes, remembering how it all started, two years ago, when they were only fourteen years old.
She was the daughter of Lady Tremaine, no one really paid attention at her when she was young, her mother never really letting her leave the house, until one day when Evie found her.
Since then, the blue haired girl became her only friend and (Y/N) would do anything for her, that’s why she tried to be friends with Mal, whom only used her, and that’s why she agreed to spy on Uma, faking to be her friend.
No one knew (Y/N) was part of Mal’s group, the purple haired girl saying it was for the best, so she could be a true double agent.
Two years passed and (Y/N) did became good and what Mal made her to do; she could go all day over at Uma’s and stay with her , Harry and Gil , then go back at Mal to tell her everything she found out about them, not having any regrets.
That was until three months ago when Harry asked her out; the pirate flirted with her since the day she came to the chip shop , but lately he became serious about her, meaning everything, especially the fact that he loved her.
(Y/N) felt bad, not only because she lied to him and his friends since the first time they’ve met, but also because from the start she didn’t want to hurt anyone.
Especially not the guy that was the nicest with her.
” Earth to (Y/N)!“ Mal said annoyed, waving her hand in front of (Y/N)’s face, ” You with us?“
” Yeah, sorry, I just zoomed out. “
Mal rolled her eyes, ” You were saying that Uma will have a party tomorrow tonight ?“
(Y/N) nodded, letting Mal continue with her talking, ” That’s perfect. Then tomorrow we will hit big so she won’t forget about us, and you could finally stole faking to be her friend, “ Mal smirked wickedly
” Sure,“ (Y/N) said emotionless, ” I have to go now, I guess I’ll see you tonight to plot for your big move?“
” Exactly ! “
” (Y/N), wait, we need to talk, “ Evie said grabbing her friend’s hand and dragging her downstairs
” What is it , E ?“
” You’re hiding something. Every time you hide something, this little crinkle appears right between your brows.
“ I don’t have a crinkle ! ”
“ Yepp, there it is,” Evie said moving closer to (Y/N) face, “ Now, tell me what’s bothering you,”
“ Harry asked me out some time ago and he keeps bugging me with it,” she whispered
“ You’ll get rid of him tomorrow, right? Then you won’t have to see him ever again, “Evie smiled, but her beautiful charming smile faded when she saw the look on (Y/N)’s face, ” That’s not what happiness looks like,“ Evie pouted
” Tell me you don’t love him,“
And in that moment every memory she had with him popped up in her mind. His eyes, his smirk, the way he flirts, his specific smell , ” I can’t,“ (Y/N) said slowly, ” I can’t tell you that, Evie. Because I’d be lying.
Evie gasped, wrapping her hands around (Y/N), “ Oh holy crowns, what are we going to do now ?”
“ I have a plan, but you might not like it. ”
-
Harry was going to the small golf, in The west of the isle, the only spot where he could find new stuff , lost by others, to give his father to sell in his shop.
Once he arrived there, he placed his hook along with his hat , jacket and boots on a rock and went in the water to search for new good stuff.
He was placing every rock, shell and jewelry in his pockets, once he was done Harry glared at the place where he left his stuff, only to see a smiling (Y/N) standing besides them, “ Sunshine,” Harry smiled
“ Hi, Harry. ”
“ Why are you here, sunshine ?”
(Y/N) sighed, “ I needed to see you. ”
“ Have my charms got their way into ye heart ?” he joked, not expecting any serious answer from the girl that stole his heart.
She smirked, knowing that whatever she would say from now on, will have consequences, “ Maybe,”
Harry’s mouth dropped open, “ Excuse me? I don’t think I’ve heard you. What did you just say?”
“ Shut it , Hook. You know what I said. ”
“ I know,” he grinned ,“ But I wanted to hear you say it again , love. ”
“ Something will happen tomorrow, Harry,” she whispered, “ and I need you to remember something , okay?”
Now, Harry looked confused, but nodded automatically, “ You said it’s us against the world,” (Y/N) said, “ remember that tomorrow, please, ”
“ What’s happening tomorrow ?”
“ Nothing good, Harry,” she said getting up, “ But remember that what I said now it is true, this isn’t a lie,” (Y/N) muttered turning on her heels and leaving the golf, she needed to meet up with Mal in half an hour.
-
“ You’re planning what?” (Y/N) spat
“ The end of Uma and her crew,” Mal smirked
“ That’s a bomb, Mal! It will blow the whole ship, they’ll…die. ” (Y/N) said, not believing her ears what Mal wanted to do.
“ Exactly, we’ll get rid of them once and for all, wouldn’t it be great?” she asked glaring at Carlos, Jay and Evie, both boys nodded - too scared to say anything else.
“ It might be a little harsh, Mal, they don’t need to…die,” Evie muttered
“ What’s with you two?” Mal asked angrily, looking from Evie to (Y/N), “ Aren’t you on my side ?”
“ We are, but you just can’t go around and kill everyone you don’t like,” (Y/N) cried
“ If you don’t like my ways, then don’t come,”
“ Fine, ” she spat, leaving Mal’s lair.
(Y/N) tried to breathe fresh air and calm her racing heart, but she couldn’t. The girl jumped frightened when someone touched her shoulder, “ Sorry, didn’t want to scare you,” Evie spoke.
“ Evie?”
Evil Queen’s daughter smiled, “ Best friends forever, remember? Mal’s wrong with this. We should warn them, fast, since she wants to do it ..now. ”
(Y/N) grabbed Evie’s hand and started to run to Ursula’s shop, hoping they wouldn’t be too late.
-
When the two girls arrived on the docks, Mal, Carlos and Jay were already there, arguing with Uma, Gil and Harry.
(Y/N) took Evie on the ship, using the backstage door, mainly used only by Uma’s employees.
Evie and (Y/N) could clearly heard the arguing that was going on above them, making them both stop when Mal said (Y/N)’s name.
“ What is she doing?” (Y/N) whispered
Evie frowned, trying to listen carefully at what Mal was saying, “ Too bad that not all of us are here today to see your pirate crew fall. Evie and (Y/N) backed out at the last moment. ”
“ What are ye talking about? (Y/N)’s our friend,” Harry hissed
Instantly Evie grabbed (Y/N)’s hand, reassuringly, trying to make her friend feel better, but the girl almost lost it when she heard Mal talk again, “ Is she really? I think you never knew the true (Y/N) like I did,” Mal smirked.
“ What are you talking about?” Uma spat
“ She worked for me. She did my biting, (Y/N) was never your friend, she’s on my side,” Mal laughed
“ Am I? Think about all the pranks we made during those past two years, since you met her. How could we have known about every party you had or every plan you had if (Y/N) wasn’t the one to tell us? ”
Harry frowned, his eyes shutting for a moment. She wasn’t lying. He remembered how (Y/N) was there every time they planned an attack on Mal and then the next day the VKs knew.
He was beyond mad, how could she do something like this to them? To him?
“ We need to get out of here,” (Y/N) whispered, “ Wait, you’ll make things worse, ” Evie said catching up with her, but she wouldn’t listen.
When they arrived on top of the ship, everyone stared at them, until Harry finally spoke, “ How could ye? I trusted ye!” he cried, his crew knowing he was talking with (Y/N) while Mal was just confused - why would he care so much anyway?
“ Harry, let me explain, I wanted to fix things-”
Harry’s face was now red , anger being all over it, it drove him mad to know that it was really true ; she had betrayed him.
“ Can’t you see ? I’m broken,” Harry spat, “ You did this to me. ”
(Y/N) took a step forward, to him, “ I’m sorry, Harry, at first it was different,” she sobbed
“ Different? ”
Now everyone could see she was truly crying and no one, ever, cried on the isle of the lost, “ You weren’t supposed to love me, ” she cried, “ and I wasn’t supposed to love you. ”
Harry looked at her, trying to find any sign of lying , but he couldn’t find any, “ It’s us against the world, ” she said before running towards to Mal and grabbing her backpack - where the bomb was.
“ (Y/N) put it down ! ” Evie screamed, “ You’ll die! ”
“I’m sorry, ” (Y/N said looking at Harry, Uma and Gil, “ After the first few months, I wasn’t faking it, I really liked you guys,” she spoke firmly, moving closer to the edge of the boat, “ and Harry…it’s a shame we didn’t even got our first kiss,” (Y/N) smiled sadly, “ I guess these are the consequences of this whole act, Mal, ”
“ (Y/N) don’t do this-”
“ May we meet again,” the girl said while jumping into the dark waters with the bomb in her arms, trying to save the others.
In that moment everyone could hear Harry’s scream of agony as the bomb blew up , damaging only a small part of the ship; the pirate felt a hole forming in his chest - losing someone he really loved changed him, it broke him for real.

Must say that I don’t like that the go-to for making Maleficent and Lady effin’ Tremaine ‘designer’ was “let’s see more SKIN!”
THEY ARE BOTH DRESSED NECK TO TOE. Ursula & Yzma? Yeah, they’re Like That. They show skin and don’t think twice about it. Maleficent and Tremaine do not. Why force them to? It just feels icky, for me. And Grimhilda (who goes unnamed, as “Evil Queen”): she wore a hood over her hair and neck, because she wanted people to see nothing but the beauty of her face. The hood is a symbol/accessory of god-tier vanity. Her doll does remain largely covered, otherwise, but it seems like actually dressing her down, to take the hood away.
And Hades gets a ‘designer’ treatment of fabric representing his special effects. That’s good! That’s creative! ... so why do the women just get boob windows and thigh slits? Why would Tremaine even have steampunk/chain-fetish accents?

Weekend Top Ten #403
Top Ten Disney Villains
Chalk another one up to “topics I thought I’d already covered”…
So this weekend, or thereabouts, sees the release of Frozen II, which is cool because it uses the “II” instead of the “2”, which makes it seem all moody and epic. At the time of writing, I have not watched it, because I do not believe it is out. However, I will watch it, and not just because I have two little girls who at various points have been utterly nuts for Elsa and Anna. No, I will also watch it because Frozen is rather great and I’m interested to see what happens next. Hopefully Elsa will get a girlfriend. That’d be nice for her.
There are lots of things you could discuss when talking about Disney movies (and by Disney movies I mean specifically the animated “classics”, from Snow White to Wreck-It Ralph, from Cinderella to Moana; I am discounting Pixar movies for the time being, however). There’s the principle characters, the songs, the settings, the dresses… but today I will be discussing The Villains.
What is a Disney movie without a Big Bad? I mean, Winnie the Pooh, I suppose. Arguably Ralph Breaks the Internet. Even more arguably, Moana. Stuff like Dumbo and Pinocchio certainly have bad guys, but not over-arching nemeses. Anyway, where was I?
Yeah, so, Disney Villains. Iconic. Often terrifying. Sometimes hilarious. Kinda sexy? Yeah, sure, why not. They tend to get the best lines; often the best songs; sometimes they’re played with relish and gusto by the best actors. Although some villains sometimes have a bit of nuance, depth, or tragedy to them, most of the time we’re in strict hissing panto territory, and I don’t think that diminishes the films one iota. As our big, broad entertainment enjoys putting wrinkles in its evil linen – be it the fraternal intricacies of Loki or the self-pitying emotional outbursts of Kylo Ren – we do enjoy shades of grey. Therefore it’s all the more entertaining when somebody properly goes for it as a bad guy, and pulls out the Full Palpatine.
I’m not sure, either, quite why Disney excels at female villains. Even when their titular heroines are a bit wet – like Ariel or Aurora – the bad girls are full-throated, evil joys. Ursula and Maleficent are the best bits of those movies, Jamaican crabs notwithstanding. And, yes, they both get to be a bit sexy too. Is it some kind of dark undercurrent of misogyny, of Disney exploring tropes of the fallen woman? Is it something primordial, like a dark inversion of maternity (there are quite a few Wicked Stepmothers in Disney, after all)? Or is it just coz the animators liked drawing sexy bad girls? We’ll never know.
One notable – and unincluded – villain here is Hans, from Frozen (spoiler alert). He just slipped off the list – but then so did quite a few famous others. Hans is interesting because he’s an absolute bastard, conniving and scheming and murdering his way to the top in as sociopathic manner as possible. His heel turn was, for me at least, a surprise, and part of Frozen’s beautiful unpicking of common Disney fairytale tropes. The perfect love-at-first-sight duet partner turns out to be a lying, manipulative toe-rag. Although the film predated the #MeToo movement, Hans is the perfect poster-boy. Whilst his early-days civility and lack of a show-stopping villain theme song means he’s not quite as memorable a character, it’ll be interesting to see if Frozen II pulls off as successful a switcheroo, or has a villain that resonates as strongly with the film’s themes.
But enough of this guff. Let’s get wicked.
Scar (Jeremy Irons, The Lion King, 1994): pretty much the dictionary definition – alongside Alan Rickman in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves – of “upper-class English villainy”. It’s just delightful to listen to him enunciate his wickedness. This is Iago-level bastardry. Oscar-worthy.
Ursula (Pat Carroll, The Little Mermaid, 1989): ditto Ursula, who also brings a delightful, raw sexuality to an otherwise rather chaste movie (especially one that’s so concerned with body transmogrification). Great set of pipes, too.
Mother Gothel (Donna Murphy, Tangled, 2010): less of a sneering monster but more realistic in her purely wicked gaslighting. A case study in belittlement and subtle mental torture. Also another case of “belting villain song”.
Maleficent (Eleanor Audley, Sleeping Beauty, 1959): no real nuance, and sadly no real numbers, but Maleficent gets a nod due to her phenomenal visual design, an epic and iconic dragon battle, and just by being the embodiment of unreal, emotionless evil. A literal devil.
Gaston (Richard White, Beauty and the Beast, 1991): not the sneering evil overlord or psychological manipulator, but an early example of toxic masculinity and patriarchal suppression writ large (the size of a barge, in fact). Swagger, ego, and – horror – popularity, rallying the town behind his hate. Also – again – cracking tune.
Prince John (Peter Ustinov, Robin Hood, 1973): Disney doesn’t just do cold evil with its villains; much of the time they’re funny, too, and Prince John is like Captain Hook in being essentially a bumbling idiot used chiefly for comic relief. But he’s funnier than Hook, and with his thumb-sucking schtick, has a better, er, hook, too.
Professor Ratigan (Vincent Price, Basil the Great Mouse Detective, 1986): full disclosure, I’ve not seen this since I was a kid, but I loved Ratigan. Again, cool song; again, tremendous performance. But he managed to be both aloof and sneery yet utterly, primally terrifying; at the end, with his wild face and ripped clothes, he freaked out Young Me so much. Also one of the few Disney villains to actually flat-out murder someone.
Doctor Facilier (Keith David, The Princess and the Frog, 2009): AKA “The Soul Man”, Facilier is an interesting character that explores cultural roots of the film’s New Orleans setting, giving him a vibe (and, frankly, an ethnicity) that makes him unique. Plus he’s really creepy, with his scary “Friends on the Other Side” (great number), and a frankly unsettling death scene.
Lady Tremaine (Eleanor Audley, Cinderella, 1950): ploughing a similar manipulative furrow as Mother Gothel, Tremaine – the quintessential Wicked Stepmother – is a malicious, quiet presence, rarely shouting, never getting physical; she simply strips away everything of Cinderella’s until she’s left with a torn and tattered dress and no means of escape. She is The System which is all-controlling, and only magic is enough to defeat her.
Jafar (Jonathan Freeman, Aladdin, 1992): similar in his own way to the melodramatic villainy of Scar or Maleficent, Jafar also adds some baser human wants and lust for power. He’s a more physical villain, with some of Scar’s eloquence but more of Gaston’s personal need for growth, success, and – well – a bit of a legover. Doesn’t get a good song till The Return of Jafar, though.
So there we are: top Disney gits. Shame I didn’t have room for Mad Madam Mim from The Sword in the Stone, who was so nearly there, along with Hook and Hans. I did, however, veto supporting villains, henchmen, and second-tier bad guys, if you’re wondering where Smee, Iago, and Tamatoa are. Maybe that’s the subject for another Top Ten? Shiny!

Okay, so made for tv Disney movie time. *cracks knuckles* Descendants 2 time!
Oh shit the evil kids are casting a spell
No, wait...they're singing?
They're singing out how evil they are.
Tina thinks that this probably takes place in the past.
They're giving everyone apples that make them evil.
Oh shit, Mal's mommy issues are back. Like, already. We're not even through the first song.
No, wait, everyone has mommy issue.
The apples made everyone evil and also made they learn a bunch of over-produced dance moves.
OH SHIT MAL'S BEEN STEPFORDED!
Ben's trying to stop her from getting roasted by the press.
Ooh, he sent the press away to stop them from asking uncomfortable questions. That's questionable, politically.
Tina's all mad because part of Mal's good guy makeover is dressing her LIKE BEN'S MOM.
Apparently being the king's girlfriend means running everything.
Mal look
They showed Mal spitting out food at Aladdin and Jasmine's. Fuck you, Mal.
Mal's using magic to keep up! Evie's mad at her! It's all season 6 of Buffy in here!
Tina: *gasp!* They're MAGIC-SHAMING her!
Evie got rid of her mirror? Why? That shit was so useful.
Tina: Yeah Evie, it's weird that Mal's nervous about being the steady girlfriend of the President-For-Life.
TIME FOR SUUUUUUUBTEEEEEEEEEEEXT
Evie's super in respectiability politics.
Jay's really into orgies.
But he doesn't want Carlos there.
Oh my god, are they trying to play Carlos as straight?
OH MY GOD ARE THEY TRYING TO PLAY CARLOS AS STRAIGHT
Well Jane, maybe if you weren't crawling up Mal's ass she wouldn't make evil eyes at you.
Apparently everyone thinks Ben's going to marry Mal. Makes sense, they're all the kids of Disney characters.
Ben's trying to get a stained glass couples picture of him and Mal. I sense a plot point.
Tina: Just wear a sign that says "Desperate," Ben.
Shut up, Jane.
Why is Chad going to Evie for fashion tips? She hates his ass.
Chad's gonna try to usurp. Dang.
After having locker room sex with Jay, apparently.
Evie's got cash now from selling her designs. Upgrade your boyfriend too.
Okay, Ben is trying waaaaaaaaay too hard.
Mal's really easily bought off.
OH SHIT FENCING.
Too much cherography.
Who says FINISH HIM at a fencing match?
Wait, are they just doing Mulan but with Lonnie as Mulan and a fencing team as the Chinese army.
They are.
Chad is sexist, surprising nobody.
As is the rulebook.
Geez Jay, stand up for your friends.
STOP TRYING TO MAKE CARLOS STRAIGHT.
And jeez, don't make him straight so he can date Jane.
Jane sucks.
OOPS FORGOT YOU GREW UP IN ABJECT POVERTY HA HA I'M JANE
Ugh, a friendzone joke.
...did Mal just have an evilgasm?
Wow, going into surprsingly casual detail about Carlos' abusive childhood.
Hey Chad, don't break into other people's rooms while those people are in there.
What's with the 3-D printer stuff?
Mal made Carlos a truth gummy. So he can be honest. About being attracted to Jane. Yeah, sure, whatever you so.
The dog ate the gummi and now we're in a talking dog movie.Wasn't expecting that.
Poor Carlos. Did that dog imply he has crabs?
Welcome to the movie, Hook's kid.
This kid is 500% drama.
I think we're meeting kid!Ursula.
Oh geez, these were the kids who weren't cool enough to join Mal's gang. That's a low bar.
Kid!Ursula is named Uma. I know because they're singing a whole song called " My Name is Uma (please buy my dolls)"
She wants to take over the world because she didn't get into the first movie.
I think Harry Hook is going to be this movie's "character who seems like he want have sex with everyone in every scene he's in." (A role previously held by Ben in the last movie.)
Oh shit, Ursula does not like it when people sing in her bar. Her bar that is mostly populated with teenagers played by twenty year olds.
Harry Hook is getting handsy with Gaston Jr.
Mal is performing traditional feminity to please Ben. Gross.
Uh oh, Ben found her magic book.
Ben, don't be an asshole about this.
Okay Mal, magically date-raping your boyfriend can't be the solution to all of your problems.
Ben doesn't get how the class system works.
Bad saving throw, Ben.
Uh oh, Mal's running away with her lizard mom. Back to Bad Guy island.
Mal, did you forget that everyone hated you back home?
We're getting a leitmotiff from the first movie. Mal's going bad again.
Being King-for-Life can't be that stressful if a dance is your main concern.
At least Ben admits that it's his fault that Mal ran to the island.
Tina: It's so sad that sixteen Ben already realizes that he's doomed to repeat the cycle of abuse he parents went through.
Looks like the old gang is going back to the island. And they're gonna disquise Ben. AWESOME.
Aw, Evie doesn't want to get trapped in the place she had her hellish childhood.
Tina: OH MY GOD THIS IS THE PLOT OF WHITE NIGHTS
Lady Tremaine owns a styling parlor. Yes. Mal's gonna get a re-evil makeover.
Kid!Stepsister is definitely a character who definitely existed before this.
This salon has a giant picture of Lucifer the Cat. Good.
Oh good, they had a spare costume from Katy Perry's California Girls video for Mal to wear.
Harry's trying to intimidate Mal, but she's knows he's Uma's bitch.
Ha ha, Ben's dressed like an evil longshoreman.
All of the ex-evil kids are afraid of being trapped where they had their incredibly abusive childhoods. Ben almost walks into a vent.
Ben, stop wandering off.
Oh, Ben. You sweet, stupid baby.
Are the ex-evil kids teaching Ben about the evils of the class system through song? Yes. Yes, they are.
"Remember the way to be cool is to be oppressed and hopeless."
Ben is having way too fun here.
He just danced into Gaston Jr. And the subtext returns.
Ben's just going into their secret hideout alone? I know he's here to have a serious talk with Mal, but they don't know who else could've moved in.
That dude still doesn't get it. I'd say that he should just leave her alone, but it's obvious her insecurities about fitting in are the root of their problems.
Aw, Mal thinks that the myth of upward social mobility is bullshit and that's why she can't date Ben.
She's so upset about this that she won't even talk to her gal pal!
Harry Hook has grabbed Ben! Those two shouldn't be in the same room together. All of the goggles in the world couldn't contain that much sexual chemistry.
If Mal wants to see Ben again, she'll have to face Uma in a fight that definitely probably won't involve singing and dancing.
Sorry ex-evil kids, Mal's gotta do this alone.
OH SHIT MAL'S SITTING IN A CHAIR BACKWORDS.
"I'M SO FLATTERED THAT YOU DREAM OF ME!"
Uma wants to nail Mal to the wall. In more ways than one.
This is the way all disputes between villains are solved. By arm wrestling.
Uma wants...the fairy Godmother's wand? Is it the first movie again?
They're going to use the previous established 3-D printer to make a fake. What an odd thing to be running plot point.
Girls sure do like talking about hair I guess.
Dizzy just reminded Evie that she'll never be more than an island girl.
Oh geez, now Chad knows about it. And Lonnie.
Tina: They just gave up the whole pretense that this society is a democracy.
Why does Chad think he'll be next in line for the throne?
Dizzy: Boy, it sure sucks being an untouchable.
...are Mal and Evie going to make out?
...ARE MAL AND EVIE BREAKING UP?
Aw, Evie's willing to subject herself to abject poverty to stay with Mal and Mal won't let her.
Now they're having a romantic montage of moments between these two characters as they sing a song about how much they love each other.
Forehead bump of love.
This is one of the least subtle things ever.
Tina: There is no part of this that is not a love song.
And we cut to Jay and Carlos sleeping on top of each other. WELL
I appreciate how much everyone does not want this movie to become a talking dog movie.
Mulan grew a personality in between movies. Tina doesn't know how to feel. On one had, it was well needed. On the other, she's basically a completely different person now.
HARRY HOOK IS STROKING BEN'S FACE WITH HIS HOOK!
Did all of the gay subtext fly out of Carlos and coat everyone else?
...Harry Hook is counting down the minutes until he gets to stick his hook in Ben. His words, not mine.
Ben's trying to get out of this using his one main skill from the first movie: seduction.
He's going all in, but Uma's not buying what he's selling.
Oh great, the talking dog is here.
Everyone's off to save the group's collective boyfriend. (Ben.)
Time for some good old fashioned sing-fight-dancing.
Tina: Is this supposed to a rap battle?
Yes. Yes, it.
"ALL IT TAKES IS ONE SWING AND I'LL HUMILATE HIM."
Oh god, Ben's trying to defuse the situation by seducing a whole crowd at once. I know it worked in the first movie, but this is so not your territory.
Turns out the talking dog thing was a plot point.
Gaston Jr wants Ben to tell his mom that he's still single.
Like, yeah, the wand was fake, but why did Uma just assume that she could do magic?
FIGHT SCENE WITHOUT RAPPING
Well, that extra's dead.
...did Harry and Jay hook up in the past?
Quick, everyone swordfight with whichever character you have the most sexual chemistry with.
Except Evie and Lonnie, who just get extras because we ran out of front-credited characters.
Harry's taking another crack at Ben because of course he is.
The good guys are escaping in a limo because Ben's real power is privilege.
Uh oh, Mal left her evil spellbook behind.
Ben just realized that his duty as King-For-Life is to everyone, not just the people in the magical suburbs.
Lonnie is going to bang Jay SO HARD.
Tina: OH MY GOD THE REAL PROBLEM IS THAT THE GIRLS NEVER LISTEN TO THE GUYS.
Carlos is totally pitching an orgy.
A therapy orgy.
Tina: This is where everyone is realizing that fuck Respectability Politics.
Carlos, that's not the right problem to focus on. Of course Ben's not in love with you just because of the spellbook, that's why he was all mad that you were using it early. Also because you were trying to use magic to wipe his mind.
The dog is trying to get Carlos to be hetrosexual. So that happened.
Tina called Jay using a loophole in the fencing handbook to get Lonnie on the team. By making her captain! And she's gonna make all those boys grovel at her feet.
Ugh, Doug.
Evie, you can do better.
Doug thinks that Evie might be banging Happy's son because he has a dark streak.
Tina: Why can't we see Happy's son? An evil Happy is so much better than Doug!
BOOOOOOOO.
Oh, Carlos is trying to ask out Jane. I repeat, BOOOOOOOOOO.
We went from one of the worst hetro romances in the movie to the other.
Chad needs find his chill.
Evie is trying to establish Dizzy as an up and coming designer to get her off of the island.
Is Jane just dating Carlos to get back at her mom? That's gross. Don't use people like that.
Ew, the manservant just told Mal to work it. She's, like, sixteen. Back off, creepy.
Mal: Father-tested, Mother-approved.
Ben invited Uma! Wow, dude is really doing the groundwork to set up this threeway.
Tina: Ben is going to bring over the villains over one at a time. With his dick.
Nah, it looks like Uma probably used magic to brainwash him. The dude has no luck in the "getting magically brainwashed into dating girls" department.
Or lots of luck in that department, depending on your view of things.
How are they not getting this? This is exactly what THEY did to him last movie?
Tina: They're dancing to an orchestral version of Kiss the Girl. That makes sense.
Boy, now's a dick time to unveil that stained glass window of Mal that Ben comissioned.
Uma used the book to command Ben to bring down the mystical barrier seperating the Island of Poor People from the rest of the country. This is...a bad thing, apparently?
They're doing the thing in which two people stand on opposite sides of a room and try to get the dog to come to them, except with Ben instead of a dog.
True love's kiss, wah wah wah.
Tina: Why's Uma jumping in the water? Me: Maybe she's going to pull an Ursula and turn into a giant octopus woman.
Holy shit, I was kidding.
Aaaaaaaaaaaand now Mal's a dragon.
Think Ben still wants that threesome?
WELL APPARENTLY HE DOES.
Tina: I know Ben's right, but also shut up Ben. I want to see a giant octopus lady fight a dragon.
It took him a while, but Ben finally managed to seduce Uma.
They came so close to having a good message.
Oh, okay. Apparently segregation is wrong, but only in some cases. That's...better, I guess?
And so everyone who didn't live in the island of abject poverty lived happily ever after.
Looks like Carlos is getting that orgy he was gunning for earlier.
Mal and Evie are working the subtext right to the bitter end. And Ben's getting that threesome one way or another.
Oh right, Doug exists.
Tina: Why is everyone dancing in the water? You can tell that the choreographer thought that this would look so much cooler than it does.
I guess Mal and Ben are engaged now? Well, I guess having a wife who can turn into a dragon would come in handy if you were King-For-Life ruling over a bunch of recently deposed royals. Especially since Chad is definitely going to try to overthrow him at some point.
Uma just broke the fourth wall and threatened another sequel.
Hey, they saved the cover of a classic Disney song for the credits.
Tina: Pop cover of Kiss the Girl better than rap cover of Be Our Guest?
Me: It'd pretty much have to be.

Reflecting on Disney Villains
Reflecting on all Disney movies discussed in class, I found that how well villains’ backstories are told and how well their complex humanities are presented greatly affect their attractiveness.
I found Lady Tremaine the least attractive as a villain, because she is mostly presented as a mean cold lady without much backstory about her hatred of Cinderella.
John Ratcliffe is also quite boring as a villain. In the film, his only remarkable personality is his extreme obsession with gold.
Also, the backstory about Ursula’s desire for power and her hatred of King Triton is not well explained, but I found Ursula a lot more attractive because of her wry sense of humor and her witty deceptive language.
Facilier is not as humorous as Ursula, but his exaggerated dances and songs make him amusing. But besides those amusing scenes, Facilier is quite a plain figure and does not leave me much impression.
As for Jafar, I found him so similar to Facilier. Not only do they look similar from skin color, face shape to figure, they also share an inclination to deceive and manipulate others through their magic.
I would say Gaston is a very interesting villain, because compared with the villains above who are always isolated from other characters, Gaston is actually a popular “normal” guy. By “normal”, I mean Gaston does not have any evil scheme from the beginning. Nor does he have weird supernatural power, like Ursula and Facilier, or stereotypical villainous appearance, like Lady Tremaine and Facilier. As a villain, Gaston conveys the message that evil is not born, evil may not be judged by appearance and there is a reason that people turn evil.
Similar for Hans. Although desire for power has become a cliché as the cause of evil, Hans’ evil ambition is explained well in his backstory of being a spare heir excluded by his elder brothers. Another interesting point about Hans is his deceptive disguise. When I watched Frozen, I feel something strange about Hans, but I didn’t guess it out until Hans refuses to kiss Anna, which is almost the end of the movie.
Maleficent and Ralph really stand out from other villains. I am not even sure if they should be counted more as villains or heroes, or both. They are treated totally like heroes - their mistakes are always justified, they arouse empathy, and they don’t mean evil. We don’t really see evil in their bad actions, which we rather attribute to flaws in personality. Such flaws make them even more fascinating than typical perfect heroes. Unlike typical heroes, they are allowed to experience more about moral conflicts, identity confusion, regret and redemption. Such struggles make them more human and more realistic.
Realism seems to be a more and more popular tendency in villain design. I saw an online post picking on the Disney logic in the fall of traditional villains including Lady Tremaine, Ursula, Jafar and Gaston: If Disney Villains Were Smart
Imagine that Lady Tremaine becomes snobbish and realistic...
And Ursula seeks violence instead of enchantment...
And Jafar calms down and realizes his advantage over Genie...
And Gaston gives up his inexplicable obsession with Belle...
These memes indeed make sense, but I guess it will be harder and harder to poke fun similarly at more recent villains like Ralph and Hans, because more and more realistic settings are fixing the logic.
