A little over a year ago, on February 3rd 2024, Clark Joseph Harman was murdered. He was 12 years old. Not even 24 hours prior, He had been legally kidnapped by two men from a "transport" or "escort" company that had been hired by his parents. He was brought to Trails Carolina, a "wilderness program" and part of the troubled teen industry. The act of being legally kidnapped in this manner is often called getting "gooned" in survivor communities.

Before I properly start, I have a note: I learned of his name because someone in the r/troubledteens subreddit found it not long after I heard of his case. I did not learn his name because it was consensually released by his family. As such, I will use only his initials (CJH) throughout the rest of this post. I decided to head the post with his name because I think it's important that people know it. It was not consensually released, and that should be respected, but he was still a whole person. He was a twelve year old boy with a name and a family and so much life left to live. All of you should witness what was taken from him.

The medical examiner's preliminary report states that after CJH was gooned, he went through a check-in to process him into the program. He was uncooperative at first, demanding a phone call with his parents, but was able to cooperate after talking to them. He was placed on a 1-1 with a staff member who was with him at all times. The staff member says CJH chose not to eat dinner. Then they went to bed. According to Trails' protocol, he was to sleep on the floor of the cabin with a staff member sleeping beside him. His set up was a thin mattress with a thick plastic sheet folded into a canoe-like shape and set on top of the mattress. Above that, a sleeping bag inside a bivy with a zipper alarm that would go off if he tried to leave his tent. CJH slept but he was restless and mumbling. He had a (staff-permitted) moment outside his tent around 11pm but then goes back to "bed." Around midnight, he is restless and mumbling in his sleep once again, and he begins thrashing. It eventually subsided. Routine checks were performed by staff, but the bivy being opaque meant that they did not actually see CJH. I will note that this detail was against protocol. Normally, the bivy has a mesh interior door and the staff would have been able to see CJH in their routine checks. However, the mesh door on the tent they used that night was broken, so they used the weather resistant outer door instead. Despite these routine checks by staff, the thrashing at midnight is the last noted incident until morning.

And yet morning comes, and a little boy is dead. Staff find him in his tent lying on his right side with his feet at the head of the bivy and his head at the tapered end of it. He is cold and unresponsive. 911 is called, CPR is unsuccessful and a little boy is dead. A little boy is dead and they don't notice until morning. A little boy was kidnapped and now he's dead. A little boy was in the troubled teen industry for less than 24 hours and he's dead because of it. He will never get out of the industry and he will never leave that wilderness program and he will never heal from the trauma he was forced to endure because he's dead. They killed him. The program killed him, the staff killed him, our government killed him, those goons killed him, his parents killed him, you killed him. A little boy is dead, and an uncountable number of people are at fault.

There's an extent to which his parents are victims too. They lost their son because of an awful choice they made. And while I don't know these people personally, I do know enough about how this industry works to know it's highly likely that they believed in what they were doing. Everything they did was legal, and everything they did was advertised to them as something that would help their child who they didn't know how to care for. I'm not saying it was a good decision, but I know how predatory this industry is. A parent who doesn't know where to turn, a child who clearly needs help, and suddenly a web page. Or a hired educational consultant. Or another parent. Or a pamphlet. Something or someone that tells them "There are schools and programs for children like yours. There are options for parents like you." They say "Send your kid to Trails Carolina. It's like a summer camp for kids who need help." According to several cult researchers, the troubled teen industry is much like a cult. The parents are often people who genuinely care about their kids and truly believe this will help. The cult drew them in as cults do. CJH was killed by his parents and their choice to send him to trails. CJH was killed by his parents, and that cannot be changed. They will always have to carry that responsibility, and I cannot stress enough how it was their fault and they do have a part in this. But if I let a single person come away from this with the impression that they are entirely or even mostly to blame for their child's death, I will have failed to communicate just what this industry is and what it does to children and their families.

The system at large is what's at fault. The program itself, Trails Carolina, has killed kids before (Alec Lansing, 17, died of hypothermia after being injured while attempting to run away from the program, Trails Carolina, November 23rd 2014). Other programs have killed kids before, both recently (Cornelius Frederick, 16, killed in physical restraint, lakeside academy, May 1st 2020) and further in the past (Phillip Williams Jr., 15, official cause of death was a "brain aneurysm" but this was determined with no proper investigation and he had been severely beaten in some sort of "therapeutic boxing ring" before his death, Elan School, December 27th 1982). These programs are not made to help us. They are made to fix us. And in practice, all they do is kill us and traumatize us. They manipulate, they brainwash, they abuse, they hurt, they kill. All of them do. Even the ones that supposedly don't utilize physical restraint methods. Even the ones where staff don't sexually or physically assault the kids in their custody. Even the most tame and least violent of programs. Even the ones that don't interrupt our academics, even the ones that don't drug us with excessively or incorrectly prescribed medication, even the ones in tourist hotspots like hawaii, even the ones where a kid can work with horses or dogs or rabbits. They all abuse us. All of them.

And it's legal. It's all legal. Even our deaths are legal. Trails Carolina was forced to shut down after CJH's murder, but other programs still exist and the DA chose not to press charges. Let me say that again. The District Attorney. Chose not to press charges. For manslaughter.

On November 6th 2024, District Attorney Andrew Murray issued a press release where he stated that while CJH's case was "heartbreaking" and "tragic," that it "did not involve criminal intent or recklessness sufficient to warrant criminal charges for involuntary manslaughter under the law." The carelessness of having CJH sleep in an opaque tent where the staff could not get sights on him during their routine checks was not enough. Letting him to sleep in a tent where such suffocation was even possible in the first place was not enough. Having an alarm on the door so he would be unable to get out without consequences was not enough. Forcing him to sleep in this tent despite the fact that he was both "audibly and physically upset" about this sleeping arrangement was not enough. A dead child was not enough. And it will not be enough so long as these programs exist. Everyone that put him in that situation and everyone who allowed it to go without any sort of legal charges or reform is at fault for this child's death.

And that includes you. Every single one of you who is not a victim or survivor of the troubled teen industry. All of you who watch these children die and say nothing. All of you who force survivors and victims to trigger themselves over and over again in an attempt to speak up against the system that hurt us. All of you who don't listen. All of you who listen once and then let yourself forget about us. Every single one of you.

A child is dead, and more will die. And it feels like TTI survivors and victims are the only ones who care. How many of us will die because of you?

I don't consider ethnicity to be a valid reason for conquest. Because that's what we're discussing here not their struggle against a state that planned from the start to kill every last one of them but a state that saw them side with those who tried to exterminate them and I do mean exterminate with every man woman and child.

Hamas's military strategy was not to be able to win militarily. They folded within a few days and had to keep retreating and retreating and retreating. They didn't even have the ability to sufficiently provide anti-air and no ability to protect its own citizens.

What's more, they could have picked a military target for their offensive on October 7th. They chose civilian targets. And they chose to start a war with a war crime, actually no, a crime against humanity. Rape serves nothing militarily.

But not being able to provide anti-air was the goal. They had a different kind of anti-air. The kind of anti-air that most dictatorships use. See a dictatorship will just put their supply depots right next to things like hospitals schools mosques you know things that shouldn't be targeted militarily. Or hamas's case they'll put it directly in these places or under them. Typically Americans and Israelis care about whether what is being targeted is this civilian target.

So what were the counting on?

They were counting on people like you. They were counting on creating a humanitarian crisis in which people like you would have only ever seen the fact that Israel was winning militarily and causing the same level of civilian casualties as any wartime operation in the Middle East. Though how you calculate that against a force that is already disobeying the rules of war I don't know. But you'd see it without any standards involved.

They started the war, they created the humanitarian crisis, and they used both to try an create the scenario in which you would have only seen in care about the Palestinians, in order to internationally isolate Israel like South Africa was previously or Rhodesia.

They were willing to throw away their lives and be martyred and die in order to achieve this. I simply just refused to give them a double standard on my behalf.

I don't think it's moral or rational to support evil of that kind. I don't think it's moral or rational to try and allow them to exploit the fact I do care about these people. More than they care about themselves. I don't think it's just that I should have to see their choice to choose death and fight against that choice on their own behalf.

They were given a choice between life and death and chose death. All I'm doing is honoring their choice without the double standard of mine.

Daddy Daughter day

As you and Simons daughter -Lily- gets older, the more he mourns how she was when she was young. She was all bright eyed and would cling to Simon every change she could.

But now, she’s 14 and that once close relationship is crumbling away.

Now, it’s not like she’s a bad kid. She gets good grades and is always respectful to you two. She’s just…..not as eager to hang out with Simon.

After another Friday night of her hanging out with her friends, Simon’s at home stewing.

There’s a rerun of Lily and his favorite movie and now he’s too pissy to enjoy it. He’s grumbling something along the lines of ‘Im too sad to watch it’.

You roll your eyes and smile. “Si. You know Lily loves to spend time with you. Just not like how she used to.”

“‘Ts bullshit, birdie. She doesn’t even want to go to car shows w’ me.”

“She never wanted to. She hated going to those, but she knew it made you happy.”

He furrows his blonde eyebrows in disbelief. ‘No way.’ He thinks. ‘His best memories with his daughter couldn’t be due to her wanting to please him.’

“Come on, Si. You just need to do stuff that appeals to 14 year old Lily, not 7 year old Lily.” You gently rub his shoulders.

So, that’s how he ended up at the mall with Lily, 200£ and a goal to spend time with his daughter.

She flits around from store to store, blabbering about the things in them.

Simon couldn’t care less, but now it’s time for him to suck it up and deal with his boredom.

They eventually end up at the food court and he gets some pretzels. He hands one to Lily, who chose a table towards the back.

Eventually, after a few minutes of awkward silence, they see a poster for their favorite movie from when she was a kid.

Standing right in front of it are her friends. She looks away, worried they’d spot her hanging out with her dad.

“Wha’s wrong?” Simon squints a bit, knowing she’ll try to bullshit him.

“Nothin’. Jus’ thought I saw someone I knew.” Simon looks over at her friends.

“Worried they’d see you with your ol’ man, eh?” Even though his voice sounds joking, it isn’t. He is really hurt over feeling like an embarrassment to his kid.

“No, no. It’s just….their dads are kind of…..pricks. And I don’t want them to be upset I have such a cool one.”

Simon can tell she’s fucking with him on this. Sure, he’s met her friends dads and they are kind of assholes, but he definitely isn’t cool.

“If ya’ so embarrassed ‘bout hanging out with me, go.” He gets up and walks away. People move away from his fuming form like he’s on fire.

He gets a ticket for that movie, a last ditch effort to remind him of a simpler time. He sits down, crossing his arms and having a small pout on his lips.

The cheesy comedy movie begins and it doesn’t help. He still feels like an asshole. He knows he got a bit sensitive about Lily not wanting to hang out with him and he became a dick.

30 minutes into the movie, someone opens the door and comes in. It’s Lily with tears rolling down her cheeks.

She sits down a few seats away, clearly not knowing what to do to make it right. But Simon knows she’s trying. He moves a seat closer, and so does she, until eventually their next to eachother.

“‘M sorry you think ‘m embarrassed of you.” She sniffles and whispers.

“‘M sorry I made you feel like a dick for growing up.” He wraps a burly arm around her and gently hugs her tight.

They watch the movie, talking about how shitty the quality is and how predictable the ending is.

But, this is Simons new favorite memory.

Why?

Because. His baby girl is finally spending time with him again.

And that’s perfect to him.

Thinking about Yuu with younger siblings.

They feel so guilty about leaving them. They do EVERYTHING they can for Grim and treat him like a little brother.

Specifically thinking about Yuu being forced to choose between going back to their world and leaving Grim without a family or leaving their siblings (by choice this time) to stay with the one who CHOSE to be Yuu's family.

I was talking about grim with a beloved follower not too long ago... like. how is that going to be resolved? yuu and grim are a package deal, they do everything together, and seem to care about each other so much. yuu can't just... leave him. not in my head at least

in regards to siblings, I think it depends on the yuu. a yuu who is the provider/caretaker of their siblings because of absent or neglectful parents would have to go back, right? there are people in twisted wonderland who would take care of grim (thinking about lilia and malleus specifically), but who would take care of their siblings back home?

a yuu who is just the eldest, has a normal family, can rely on their parents, etc, has an emotional responsibility to their siblings, rather than a financial/practical one. this yuu might see grim as someone who needs them more

Stolas, kink, and violence

This is something I've been thinking about while both having an appreciation for the nature of Stolitz's past kinky relationship and anticipating/hoping for a trend of Stolas getting more hands-on with defending himself and working alongside IMP in future seasons: I really really like that Blitz became something of a safe space for Stolas to experience pain and violence.

Like, this is a guy who's been a victim of physical abuse for a long portion of his life and who is very much feeling the impacts of that abuse on his pysche and his ability to handle conflict. Stolas clearly demonstrates on multiple occasions that he is generally uncomfortable with violent confrontation/conflict (disliking the human sacrifice/refusing to stab the cake in Apology Tour, being horrified by M&M's behavior in Sinsmas, and even the fact that he chose to intimidate the agents in Truth Seekers rather than kill them outright is a sign of this, I think). Of course, push him far enough and he will turn to violence (Andy is very punchable), but in general he has a distaste for it, particularly with respect to interpersonal relationships, that very likely stems from his trauma. So the fact that he's not only willing but excited to indulge in extreme levels of pain play with Blitz (I'll never get over fucking bear traps, my god) is very telling. Obviously, there's a whole book you could write about people processing and coping with abuse via kink that plays to elements of the abuse and I am not the person to write that book. I just wanted to take a second to really marvel at how wonderfully trusting it is of Stolas to allow that with Blitz and how amazingly Blitz must have handled it for Stolas to continually find it enjoyable. Like, as far as we know, Blitz doesn't even know about Stella's abuse - and abuse like that is a landmine-and-a-half to navigate in kink even when both partners are aware of it. So for Stolitz's kink relationship to proceed so well, when only one of them isn't in the dark about potentially triggering information - (btw Stolas, I don't blame you because I know it would've required a million different interpersonal skills that you don't have to navigate it, but it was really unsafe to not tell him at some point) -isn't just a miracle, it's a testament to how attentive of a Dom Blitz must have been (especially since Stolas absolutely gives me the vibes of the kind of sub who wants to please beyond his limits). As for what this has to do with the future, I'm very very hopeful Stolas will have a bit of a training arc, so to speak. He no longer has magic, but still very much has reasons he'll need to defend himself and as much as he enjoys the fantasy of being a damsel, I think actually being one will get old for him quickly (especially as he cares more than ever about the people who'd actually have to risk themselves to save him). Violent confrontation is something he's going to have to get relatively comfortable dealing with and participating in (and without the aid of an un-medicated mental breakdown fueling him), especially as he continues to work and associate with assassins. And who better to help him settle into that, than Blitz? The man who supported and guided him through pain and violence intimately. I could easily see a scenario where Millie is trying to teach him weapons or Moxxie is trying to instruct him on sniping and he's just viscerally uncomfortable the whole time, but the moment Blitz steps in, it eases because of that trust they've cultivated. Violence doesn't need to be flinched away from if he's facing it with Blitz. And this could easily extend to the rest of IMP as he faces more challenges with them and gains trust in them as well; likely never as much as he has with Blitz, but enough that the thought of a sparring match for fun wouldn't have him grimacing. And that's something I'd love to see. .....now as for how Blitz's own past with physical abuse and the violent nature of his life as an imp and assassin impacted his role as Stolas' Dom and shared test for extremity in the bedroom... I have no clue where to start with that one, but I know Blitz loved using those bear traps as much as Stolas did 😂😏

Adar and Sauron are very different characters with very different motivations.

1. Adar wasn't the lord of Mordor for 3k years.. he spent those 3 k years trying to find a way to get his children to have a home where noone will experiment, torture & breed them like Sauron & Morgoth or kill them on sight like the elves & men.. that is a VERY FUNDAMENTALLY different reasoning to become a Lord of land than Sauron "power over flesh" The Dark Lord

Adar took over Southlands because he wanted a home & there was No Other Way for it.. Yes it was a horrendous way in which he chose to do it & that's why he isn't a Hero, he's an anti-hero.. he did many many wrong things..

But at the same time you cannot push a whole people into a corner to rot in torture & abuse for millenia, refuse any help or understanding & not expect them to hate you & fight back in desperation, so there's a reasoning beyond greed & power for his actions.. which cannot be said for for Sauron in most of the story imo..

Also he's the lord of Mordor literally from S1 to S2 not 3k years xD

2. We know for a fact Sauron wasn't kissing orcs on the head and giving them funerals, it's literally in the show's S2E1.. Sauron was experimenting on them like lab rats & the orcs hated him & Morgoth since the very beginning of their race.. mentioned in the books too.. they wouldn't have done that if he was giving goodnight kisses (seeing as they did not kill Adar untill he stood by them & actually cared about them instead of killing Sauron)

3. Orcs slaughtered him & left him in a cave to rot because he bred them like animals for millenia, kept them as slaves & used them as lab rats.. and tried to blackmail them into submission by making them believe noone will accept them ever so darkness is their only option, which was proven wrong by Galadriel in S2E8

4. Adar killed and tortured people. Yes bad. No doubt. No question. But for a bunch of people who love to find complexity in Sauron, I find it very missing in you guy's Adar character readings for some reason.. like there's this very insistent push for months to read a VERY clearly actively created morally grey character as the same as a Dark lord of 2 whole ages who choses to become & remain that way even after getting second chances..

To the point that you people actually go out and call the show writing bad instead of understanding that Adar's redemption required his efforts too instead of a simple magic ring..

5. Adar killed all his enemies where?? He didn't kill much of his enemies??

He actively doesn't kill Elrond & Arondir in S2E7

Adar killed Sauron & he deserved that at that time.. rewatch the S2E1 flashback scene a few times you'll get it..

Celebrimbor was killed by Sauron.

Waldreg was killed by Sauron.

Glûg was killed by Sauron.

All the guards in Eregion who fought Annatar were killed by Sauron.

Bronwyn & that teen are probably the only 2 named characters Adar killed directly..

He did cause a lot of death indirectly but he interestingly didn't kill any elf directly in the series if I remember correctly..

6. Contrary to the comments & reblogs on this post.. Adar did much much better & different than Sauron. That's why the show gave him a way to redemption and not Sauron. That's why Galadriel accepts his offer of an alliance but not Sauron's..

That is the whole arc of S2 Adar.. The show again & again tried to show how he isn't exactly a villian & neither are his orcs just canon fodder evil.. so many scenes are there in the show just to highlight this..

I'm not saying Sauron is irredeemable forever, but in the Show's Story he isn't choosing redemption or healing or humbling but instead power & control..

While Adar since day one in the show has been shown to choose Love for his children (who are a result of his torture & who noone else loves in the world but still he does), he actually accepted his mistakes after wearing Nenya in S2E8 & was willing to put in effort to fix it & heal..

These are two very different characters.. both wrong in their own way for millenia yes, but only one of them actually on screen & canon tried to do something about it & the other deceived himself in the end & became a Dark Lord of Arda because redemption required actual self reflection and humility

Starting to see something more and more in other fandoms but it’s also brewing within Sauron fandom which is I don’t get villianfuckers who are deluded or in denial about the fact their fav is a villain.

Then woobify them to the gods until they resemble very closely of the “good” ML they hate lowkey which is funny.

Sauron is a villain. The reason we like him is because he’s a villain. He chooses villainy when he’s given many chances not to. I genuinely don’t get the urge of wanting to redeem him. Yes he’s complex with a lot of feelings and nuance but he doesn’t want to be redeemed. He’s not an ambiguous anti villain by the time we are in Second Age/Third Age. He’s not Adar

then she learns minnie didnt die. shes falling in love with clem while grappling with the fact that minnie might still be out there??

then she meets minnie in the woods. but minnie has changed just like she has. theyre both different people now. and slowly violet is forced to come to terms with the fact that the person she loved so deeply isnt that person anymore??

violet at the beginning mourning minerva and blaming herself, to shooting her to save clems life. she LOVED minerva once, but she doesnt like the person she is now. and shes not gonna let her hurt anyone else she cares about. shes done mourning her by the time they get to the bridge, only crying out for tenn

like idk i just find their relationship evolution to be so interesting and sad as shit. the fact that they once loved each other so much and it has now come to this?? but violet makes her choice and she Chooses clementine, because she admires and loves clementine, probably similar to the way she used to admire and love minerva if the way she talked about her is any indication
