i may be alone on this one but as someone with multiple severe phobias i extremely dislike when characters overcome their fears (i understand it for character development and its a super common arc). i especially ESPECIALLY HATE DESPISE LOATHE it when characters “overcome their phobias” I HATE IT

like i said i’m probably alone on this but i would much rather see them work around it

there are times where it’s done well. my favourite is ben from jwcc. like that was natural. he didn’t have a choice and it wasn’t immediate. i liked that. GO JWCC/JWCT

Jurassic Park Movie: Scientifically accurate dinosaurs in a theme park run by a nice old dude who just wants to make a fun place. Things go wrong.

Jurassic Park novel: Dinosaurs that are genetically modified Frankenstein science experiment freaks of nature that cannot and shouldn't exist. Things go really, REALLY wrong.

And the old dude that runs that park would gladly feed his own grandchildren to the dinosaurs if there was money to be made in it.

I'm sick and basically stay in bed most of the day so it's something to do that others can enjoy too

people in the archaeology subreddit digging up the corpse of indiana jones again for the annual discourse. somehow seem to have forget the most important scene in the film if you’re critiquing his status as an academic

#like??? what????????? why bother discoursing about whether he’s an ethical practitioner if you don’t even remember we have MULTIPLE scenes #of him teaching. at least one student brings up the contemporary equivalent of a field school. he DID do normal archaeology #that’s just not what the movies are about bc they’re based more on pulp adventure novels #i’m so tired of the usual ‘he’s a bad archaeologist’ argument from people who don’t actually know a) what archaeology looked like in the 30s #or b) that dr jones is actually *remarkably ahead of his time* on certain topics. like not fuckin stealing grave goods #his real world contemporaries were openly engaging in the trafficking of artifacts if anything indiana jones is giving them a BETTER #reputation what with the actually not being a fascist. and at least nominally respecting local/descendant communities (depending on which #movie/writer we’re talking about)#if you know nothing about the history of the field you do NOT get to critique it #‘at least the people in jurassic park were actually paleontologists’ YEAH . Okay, I have an idea for introducing Astrotrain in Earthspark.

The kids are minding their own business when suddenly, one of them notices a brief tremble in the ground. Then another. And another.

Bonus points if there's a glass of water with ripples in it.

They're puzzled and confused.

What is that? What's causing it?

Hashtag, with her knowledge of all things's media, knows right then and there that it can only mean one thing.

Something very big was coming their way.

This gets all of them very quiet. Who or what is big enough to make the ground shake?

The tremors get bigger and louder. Robbie and Mo find themselves having to hold onto anything to keep their balance and not fall over.

They all stand in tense silence, weapons drawn, and form a circle around their human siblings in a protective stance.

They wait. The steps get even louder and louder and closer and closer, when suddenly...

It stops.

The children stare in confusion. What happened?

Then they hear a scream.

The Terrans look down to see Mo clinging to Robbie and looking upwards with terror in her wide eyes.

They slowly turn their heads up and freeze.

Towering over the children, standing so high that autobots and decepticons were mere action figures in comparison, was a giant mech.

Though said mech was bested by Megatron once in battle and said deed can be done again with ease on the latter's part, the metal titan was still a force that very few beings would dare reckon with.

Blazing red optics gazed down at the trembling group, and they knew right then and there who the mysterious earth shaker was.

Astrotrain.

Blue the Raptor’s characterization in the movies and the tv show is honestly very funny to me at this point… there’s only so many times you can chase the human protagonists around and then do an about face and let them go or literally save their lives before I stop viewing you as a dangerous maneater and start viewing you as a cranky old woman harmlessly waving her cane at the neighborhood kids
