I have an idea for Leah. Maybe Leah preparing to propose to reader? Like picking out the ring, arranging the plans to do it & what to say. Being super stressed that it goes well.
-
The engagement ring is currently sitting in the drawer of Leah’s bedside table. It’s been there for three days. That’s seventy-two hours of her life spent mentally cycling through increasingly absurd ways to ask you to marry her—none of which feel remotely good enough. Yesterday, she briefly considered hiring a flash mob but abandoned the idea when she realised she couldn’t name a single person in her life who would willingly agree to dance in public.
The ring itself is a masterpiece—or, at least, Leah tells herself it is, because the thought of you hating it makes her chest constrict like a bad asthma attack. It’s a gold band, delicate but not fragile, and the diamond is small but impossibly bright, practically nuclear under artificial light. It reminds her of you. Elegant, unassuming, but blindingly brilliant. She spent hours debating between gold and platinum, flipping through online forums and texting Beth for advice, only to be told: Mate, just get what she’ll actually like. Helpful.
She chose gold, naturally, because you once mentioned in passing that platinum felt too cold. You probably don’t even remember saying it, but Leah does. She remembers everything. Like the fact you can’t stand carnations (“soulless flowers”) and that you always eat the crusts off your toast first because it’s more “structurally satisfying.” She’s built this proposal on a foundation of your quirks and preferences. It’s practically a thesis at this point.
Her plan is a dinner reservation at that restaurant—the one with the hand-written menus and waiters who always remember you like your wine dry. She’s already called them to arrange for a quieter table in the corner, away from the clatter of silverware and the prying eyes of other diners. She’s even considered what to wear: a crisp, white shirt with the sleeves rolled to the perfect midpoint of her forearms (which you once confessed makes her look “obnoxiously fit”) and tailored trousers she had altered just last week.
But even with all this planning, Leah feels like she’s holding a ticking bomb. She’s stressed in a way she hasn’t been since that penalty shootout against Brazil. She’s pacing the flat now, her steps echoing faintly on the hardwood floor. “This is ridiculous,” she mutters under her breath. “It’s just a question. Four words. Five if I add a ‘please.’ Six if I say her full name.”
“You alright there?” Beth’s voice crackles through the speakerphone, equal parts curious and entertained. Leah forgot she left her phone on the kitchen counter, still connected to the ongoing call.
“I’m fine,” Leah says, glaring at her phone like it’s personally betrayed her.
“No, you’re not. You’re spiralling”
“I’m not spiralling”
“You’re literally pacing like a dad waiting for news in a hospital drama”
Leah stops pacing. “I just… I want it to be perfect”
“It will be perfect. She loves you, doesn’t she?”
“Yeah, but what if she hates the ring?”
“She won’t”
“What if she says no?”
“She won’t”
“What if I say something stupid like, ‘I can’t wait to do your taxes together’?”
There’s a beat of silence, and then Beth’s laughter bursts through the speaker like an explosion. “Honestly, that’s probably exactly what she’d expect from you”
Leah groans, rubbing her hands over her face. “This isn’t funny”
“It’s a little funny”
She ends the call before Beth can continue her unsolicited pep talk and sits down on the sofa, staring at the box in her hand. It’s absurdly light, considering the weight it carries. She snaps it open, then shut. Open, shut. Like the world’s most expensive stress toy.
You walk into the flat a few hours later, shrugging off your coat with a small sigh. Leah, who’s been pretending to read the same page of a book for the past twenty minutes, immediately tenses. The ring box is hidden in her pocket now, a phantom weight pressing against her thigh.
“Hey,” you say, dropping onto the sofa beside her. “You alright? You look… weird”
She blinks at you, heart pounding. “Weird?”
“Yeah. Like you’ve seen a ghost or just remembered you left the oven on”
She laughs nervously, her hand twitching towards her pocket. The words are there—Will you marry me?—but they stick to her throat, stubborn and immovable.
“Leah?” you prompt, looking at her curiously.
And just like that, she panics.
“Do you want takeaway tonight?” she blurts, the words spilling out in a rush. “I’m thinking Thai”
You raise an eyebrow but nod. “Sure. Thai sounds good”
The proposal will have to wait. Again.

Tony shrugged as he linked his hand with Clint’s. “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with someone sleeping around and never settling down. Or Not. Or whatever with sex and sex life. As long as everyone is on board and having fun. I never really saw myself as a relationship person. I have trouble sitting still. I get really focussed on things to the point that everything else gets cut out. And people seem to not like being around me for long periods of time. But I like sex. I like drinking and taking drugs and gambling. Those things don’t have to hurt anyone else. So I did them. It was nice having people around me who were enjoying being around me even if it was just one night. Sex is nice, even when it was with someone I wasn’t going to see again. Especially if it was with someone I wasn’t going to see again, because then I didn’t have to worry about being there when they woke up, or letting them down. I don’t really regret those things. The things I regret are when it did hurt other people. I regret making Pepper kick out my one night stands. That wasn’t fair to her. She is so good at what she does and I had her have to do shit like that. There was once…” He paused and sighed, his shoulders slumping a little as he looked down at the ground. “There was a party that Hugh Hefner threw in my honor because of how good of a Playboy I was. I remember going and taking my first drink, and I do not remember anything for the next two weeks. I woke up naked in bed with two strangers in a flea bitten hotel on the other side of the country. I had nothing on me. So I called up Pepper to come and get me. She showed up a few hours later and bailed me out, and instead of thanking her, when we got back home, I told her that I had given her so much now and she owed me and that she should sleep with me. I don’t know what the fuck I was thinking. I don’t even know if I was thinking. She slapped me in the face and I didn’t see her again for two weeks. I was sure she was compiling a sexual harassment suit. But when she came back, she didn’t say anything, when I tried to say sorry she told me to shut up, and neither of us ever spoke about it again. That was probably the worst thing I ever did. At least actively and personally. That’s the kind of shit I regret. But the parties and the sex?” He shrugged. “I don’t regret that. It’s not for everyone, but I don’t think anyone should be judged for things that don’t hurt other people.”
Clint walked with him and took Tony’s hand and held it as they walked and smiled a little bit. “That’s good that you don’t regret all of it,” he spoke and nodded a little bit and stroked his thumb over his knuckles and thought for a moment.
“I had my… sleeping around moment when i accepted that I had been widowed, or well.. was alone,” he spoke and chuckles a little bit. “I had… a lot of one night stands and it sometimes was such a mess,” he spoke and sighs a little bit. “That’s why I was a bit… hesitant at first when I mentioned being friends with benefits to begin with. it just never worked out for me,” he spoke and nodded. “Luckily it really worked out this time.”

⋆꙳•̩̩͙❅̩̩͙‧͙ ‧͙̩̩͙❆ ͙͛ ˚₊⋆
The house was warm and quiet as you sat in the glider chair with your newborn in your arms. She was falling asleep slowly. She'd suckle and then her eyes would lull shut before she'd startle herself awake and start to pull at your nipple like a ravenous animal again. You smiled and smoothed your fingers over the soft hair on her head. It'd only been a week and a half since she was born but you already felt like she was your everything. It surprised you how deeply you already loved her.
Elara came a little early but you were ready for her. Harry said she wanted to make it in time for Christmas. She had to be monitored for a few extra days but she was healthy and she was perfect.
You saw the glow from the Christmas tree lights filtering into her room from downstairs and then heard a little rustling. Harry must have also been up. He was sleeping when you got up to feed the baby but he often would wake up when you'd get up. It was still something to get used to. You were more exhausted than you'd ever been in your life but maybe that explained why you were so deliriously in love with her.
Her suckling grew weak again, little eyes closed, and then… she was fast asleep. After waiting a few minutes, just in case, you carefully and gently got up from the chair and tiptoed to her crib to lower her down all without waking her.
She was perfect. Yes. That was true. But she was easy to wake and she'd cry for hours if she was woken up before she was ready.
Harry stood behind you and placed a hand on your shoulder as he looked down at your little creation with you. He knew better than to even whisper so you both just smiled at one another before quietly padding out of her room and closing the door behind you.
Your body was still sore. You knew it would take time to get back to feeling like yourself. Even walking downstairs felt like something was going to knock loose and fall out of your body. Harry held your hand.
"Merry Christmas, Mama," he kissed your lips softly when you got to the first floor.
The living room was dark except for the soft golden lights wrapped around the faux Christmas tree. You preferred a real one normally but it was too much work that year. Plus the smell bothered you when you and Harry had gone to check out the tree farm weeks earlier.
"Got your gift under the tree," he motioned.
You looked under the tree to see one small box with a bow. You hadn't wrapped any of Harry's and they were all tucked away, hidden in the closet in the basement.
"I didn't wrap yours. I'm sorry," you reached up to cup his face and he brought an arm around your back.
"You already gave me the best present I could ever ask for."
You grinned, "That I did. But you played a major role in that gift. So technically I could consider that a gift from you as well."
He grinned and pressed his lips to yours, "I'd say my role was very minor. All I had to do was get off a few times. You did all the hard work. All the stuff that counts."
A laugh puffed from your lips, "Okay. That I agree with."
You smelled coffee suddenly and realized Harry was making a pot.
"Decaf." He raised his brows at you. You were staying away from caffeine since you were breastfeeding. The doctor said you could have a little bit every day but Elara was fussy enough as it was. The last thing you wanted was a grouchy, angry baby hocked up on traces of caffeine.
"My mouth is watering," you spoke with a smile.
"Why don't you sit down and I'll get your coffee. Then we can open up your Christmas present."
Harry frothed a little milk for you while he took his coffee black. Even he was drinking decaf when he could have just had regular. He walked back into the living quietly, two steaming mugs in hand before handing you yours and sitting his down on the coffee table.
You took a sip as he reached under the tree to pull out the small red box. It had a small golden ribbon tied around it.
"What is it?" You held your palm out as he placed the box down into your hand.
"Well, you have to open it up first."
Taking another quick sip of your coffee before you leaned forward to place the ceramic mug down you looked at Harry with a big grin. The glittering lights from the tree were twinkling off his eyes as he looked down at the box and then up at your face.
You pulled at the ribbon and then paused when he sat up, about to push himself off the cushion, "What are you doing?"
He swallowed and you noticed that he suddenly seemed nervous, anxious. He shook his head and shrugged, "Nothing. Was just getting comfortable is all."
You squinted at him as he looked down at your hand. Then it was your turn for the nerves to take over. You couldn't be sure what was in the box but something told you that it was going to change everything. You knew Harry very well and his sudden excitement had your heart pounding in your chest. And given the size of the box…
"Harry…" you blinked your eyes and placed your hand over the lid as you swallowed.
"Just open it, baby. See what it is." He was still sitting at the edge of the cushion, watching you as you pulled the lid off. Inside was another, smaller box—a jewelry box.
You inhaled and looked up at him. He wore a soft smile on his face as he tensed his arms, like he was about to spring from the couch.
The moment you placed your fingers on the velvet-hinged top to lift it, he pushed himself onto his knees and scooted in between your thighs as the beautiful little shining diamond glinted from inside the box. A ring. But not just any ring.
He waited for a beat, his eyes on yours as your jaw dropped and you covered your mouth before looking at him in surprise.
Harry took the ring out of the box and held it between his thumb and pointer finger, "I love you. I want forever with you, Y/n. I know we're not in a rush but I couldn't wait another moment to put a ring on your finger. Tell the whole world you're mine."
You gasped out a quiet sob and just as he was about to continue you leaned forward and wrapped your arms around his neck to kiss him hard. You never imagined that you'd cry when he finally proposed but of course, your hormones were all out of whack and you'd been finding yourself crying for the smallest things lately.
He laughed when you pecked kisses over his cheek, "Yes, Harry…"
"Baby, I didn't even finish th—"
You smushed your lips over his again, swallowing his words as he pulled you into his arms until you were in his lap on the floor between the couch and the coffee table.
"I love you, Harry…" You smeared your lips down to his jaw and he chuckled quietly.
"Gonna put it on?"
Pulling away from him, you looked down at his hand and spread your fingers out for him to slip the ring onto your finger. It was dainty and perfect—one small diamond at the top, set in white gold. You held your hand up, and you admired the way it looked on your hand for a moment.
Harry wrapped his big palm around yours and pulled your hand up to his mouth, "That's a yes? You'll marry me?"
You sputtered a laugh and nodded, "Of course I will."
He kissed your knuckles and grinned at you before you pulled your hand away and wrapped your arms around his neck to squeeze him tight. Harry tucked his face into your hair and put his arms around your back.
It was going to be the best Christmas day ever. Fae would be coming by for a couple of hours and then your parents later in the evening. Telling everyone you were finally engaged would be exciting but the best part was that you and Harry had the most precious gift lying upstairs sleeping already.
You placed your hand over his chest and ran your nose against his, "I'm so happy, Harry. I love you so much."
He shifted his legs and ran a big palm up your back, "That's all I want, for you to be happy, Y/n."
Harry got exactly what he wanted because you'd never been as happy as you were in that moment.

"𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐤" "𝐰𝐡𝐨'𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞?"
✩ : a real life christmas miracle at the hamiltons
𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐭. : lewis hamilton
𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐞 : comfort, fluff
𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 : 1k
✍︎ : give these babies a little love please, we need to spread the christmas cheer
-----------------••✩🎅🏻❄️🎄✩••----------------
Snow fell gently outside, the world muffled under its icy embrace. Inside, the twinkling Christmas lights brought a soft glow to your living room, though their warmth still wasn’t enough to melt the cold sensation that had sunken into your chest. You sat on the couch, staring blankly at the three stockings carefully hung on the wall in front of you. Yours, your daughter’s… and Lewis’, dangling limp like a silent reminder of the promise he couldn’t keep.
“Mummy, look!” Your little one spun in her red-and-white pajamas, Roscoe right behind her as he wagged his short tail, matching her excitement in his own special way. Her dark curls bounced as she twirled to the melody of All I Want for Christmas Is You, her joyful giggles a painful contrast to the bitter aching of your heart.
You’d tried your best to be cheerful for her, keeping the holiday spirit alive and pretending like nothing was wrong. Except everything was. This Christmas was supposed to be different: Lewis had given you his word, he’d make it back in time, but when he’d called earlier in the week, his voice apologetic, you’d known the truth before he even said it. A delayed flight, last-minute obligations—it was something you understood, having to constantly balance your everyday life with his tight schedule, but it didn’t make it hurt any less.
“Do you think Daddy remembers it’s Christmas tomorrow?” she asked, her wide eyes so much like his as she snapped you out of your thoughts once again, her hopeful tone tugging at your heart.
She’d been counting down the days with the anticipation only a five-year-old could muster, while you couldn’t even find the courage to tell her Lewis wouldn’t be at home with you in the morning. You didn’t want her to see your disappointment, so you quickly masked it with a strained smile as you picked her up from the floor and put her on your knees.
“Of course, baby,” you reassured her, softly caressing her cheek. “Daddy always remembers the important things.”
The girl beamed, satisfied with your answer, before running off to her room and basically leaping into the bed, her eyes already clenched shut when you reached her to tuck her in—“If I fall asleep now, Christmas comes early and Daddy will be here,” she’d mumbled as she started to drift off.
The lump in your throat was hard to swallow as you leaned down to give her a trembling kiss on the forehead. “Daddy’s always with you,” you whispered, the weight in your chest heavier than before when you settled yourself beside her.
The first thing you heard in the morning was the sound of hurried footsteps rushing over to your daughter’s bed—where you’d ended up sleeping the entire night—followed by a series of excited squeals.
“Mummy, he’s here!” The girl’s high-pitched voice definitively woke you up from your slumber, her words making no sense to you.
You blinked a few times, eyelids fighting to stay open as your more than confused gaze questioned the little one, who was now trying to roll you out of her bed, having already yanked the cover off your slowly freezing body.
“Who’s here, sweetheart?” you managed to ask, slurring your speech.
“Daddy! He’s in the living room!” She was getting more and more impatient, her disheveled hair bouncing around her tiny shoulders as she kept hopping on her toes.
Her words finally clicked in your mind, and you flashed her a bittersweet smile. “Oh, is he now? Did Santa bring him on the sleigh?”
“Yes, come and see!” she insisted, giving you a firm tug on the hand to pull you up.
It was only when Roscoe joined her too, his paws planted on your chest as he started licking you all over your face, that you finally decided to play along.
“Alright, alright,” you laughed, wiping off the dog’s drool from your cheeks as you let your daughter drag you toward the living room. “Let’s see what that little head of yours has come up with this time.”
The words died on your lips as you rounded the corner, your voice trailing off.
There he was.
Lewis stood by the Christmas tree, snow dusting his heavy coat and scarf, the delicate flakes tangled in his locks like a hundred pretty bows. His arms were loaded with presents, which he let fall to the ground as soon as you stepped into the room, his sweet brown eyes immediately finding yours as a heart melting smile spread across his face—and the world around you suddenly felt warm again.
“Surprise,” he said softly, though his tone had a hesitant edge to it.
“I told you he was here!” your little girl kept shrieking, running straight into her dad’s open arms when he kneeled down.
He scooped her up effortlessly, spinning her around as her delighted giggles ringed through the air, the sound better than any Christmas song you’d ever heard.
“Hey, princess. Did you miss me?” Lewis asked her, tenderness lacing his voice as she clung closer to his chest.
“Yes, but I knew you were coming back because I asked Santa to bring you home in my Christmas letter.”
You exchanged a glance over her curly head, his sheepish one meeting yours in an unspoken apology. “You said you couldn’t make it,” you then broke the silence, your almost accusing tone filled with emotion.
“I know,” he stepped closer, before reaching out and pulling you into his embrace as well, his forehead rested lightly against yours. “But I wouldn’t have missed Christmas with my girls for anything in the world.”
You couldn’t stop the tear that rolled down your cheek as you buried your face in the crook of his neck, while your daughter, totally clueless, climbed down Lewis’ side and dashed to where he’d left the presents, carefully inspecting the brightly wrapped boxes.
“So,” he whispered in your ear, his breath grazing your skin as he spoke, “am I forgiven now?”
You pulled back just enough to look up at him and gently brushed your fingertips over his dark braids, taking out a little snowflake that still hadn’t melted. “More than forgiven,” you murmured back, yanking him by the hem of his scarf until your lips crashed together.
And, for the first time in a while, everything felt complete again.

Surgery Headcanon
How would my favorite Marvel men react to you having surgery.
I'm getting my gallbladder taken out in a couple of weeks, it will be my first surgery ever, so this is 100% self-indulgent. That's part of why I've been so absent this year, I've had an organ rebelling.
Doctor Stephen Strange
Will ask who your doctor is to see if he knows them. If not, he may send a referral to a trusted former colleague on your behalf. He's not letting you under the knife unless he knows you have a good surgeon.
Will tell you how routine the surgery is if you are starting to worry. Almost a bit blasé about your concerns, after all, bedside manner was never his strong suit as a surgeon. Plus, it really is a routine, laparoscopic procedure. Way less intricate & dangerous than neurosurgery.
1000% will try to micromanage everything once you're at the hospital prepping for or immediately out of surgery. He wants to see your chart. He wants to know what your most recent vitals are. Hell, he may have even asked if he can observe the surgery. Partly, it's him being overprotective, partly it's because he misses being a doctor.
Definitely breaking into the doctor's lounge for the good coffee, not the instant crap in the cafeteria.
After you are home, he will be vigilant about making sure you take your pain meds & will check your incisions to make sure everything is healing well. You are in very safe, if slightly neurotic hands.
Secretly, or not so secretly, enjoying getting to play doctor again to take care of you. Looking forward to when you are well enough that you can play doctor and patient the really fun way.
Bucky Barnes
May actually be a bigger mess than you are. Thanks to Hydra, medical anything makes his anxiety shoot through the roof. Now piled on top of that, he feels out of control & helpless to make you feel better.
Would have to be physically dragged out of your hospital room, so the hospital staff just lets the whole “visitors hours” thing slide.
The second you wake up, he is by your side asking if you need anything. Probably didn't sleep or even sit down the entire time you were in surgery.
If you even make an odd face, he's asking if you are in pain, and he has become a huge pain in the ass for your nurses.
May have thought about threatening your surgeon about if something went wrong.
Either guard dog mode, or he completely shuts down. There is no in between.
Afraid he's going to break you while you are recovering. Offers to sleep on the floor or on the couch just in case. Doesn't want to let you out of his sight until you are healed.
Steve Rogers
Tells you over and over how everything will be okay and that you are in good hands.
May tell you stories about how much hospitals and medical stuff has improved since he was so sick before the serum.
Reads up on your surgery and your doctors. He wants to understand as much as he can about what is going on. He probably has more questions for the doctor than you do.
Puts on a brave face for you but secretly will be a little nervous. He hates seeing you sick or in pain, and he can't help but worry a little bit.
Will respect hospital rules but will stay up until the very last minute of visiting hours are over. Knows the names of every nurse and doctor treating you.
Definitely has flowers or a stuffed bear for you as soon as you wake up from surgery.
Dotes on your every need once you are home and watches you like a hawk. The first few days, he doesn't even let you go to the bathroom by yourself. You can't get away with shortcutting your recovery under his eye.
Sam Wilson
Buys you a cute, silly stuffed version of whatever you are having surgery on to make you laugh. See my new stuffed sad gallbladder plush as reference here.
All the nurses love him, and he likes to crack jokes with all the staff. Offers to help with anything he can but mostly tries to stay out of their way.
Trying to make you smile all the way until they wheel you to the OR. He doesn't want you to be scared or nervous.
Like Steve, he will put on a brave face but will be nervous once you are in surgery. Lots of pacing back & forth. Lots of trips to the coffee machine.
Takes care of you once you are home but not quite as mother hen as Steve. Will let you judge what is best for you, but will 100% call you out if he sees you doing something the doctor told you not to.
Will also rat you out to your doctor if you don’t follow their instructions. He doesn't want to snitch, but he'd also rather not be the one to scold you.
Loki
Doesn't like the idea of someone operating on you. Trained surgeon or not, they are still just a simple Midgardian.
Doesn't like the hospital one bit. Comments on the color and decor, even the hideous hospital gown you have to wear. Partly to make you laugh, partly because it was all truly hideous.
If your surgeon even hesitates on a question you ask, Loki will assume they aren't the best and demand another doctor. You may have to talk him down a bit. He's a prince, after all, and he wants to make sure you are in the best hands possible.
The whole thing seems a bit barbaric to him. He would much have preferred using magic or Asgardian ways to heal you, but alas when on Midgard.
Secretly terrified something will happen to you, but would never tell you he's worried. Doesn't like that he can't do anything to help you.
Is not very used to taking care of people, and as royalty, he's the one used to being waited on, but he will try his best to do whatever you need him to do.
Will probably mostly ignore instructions from the doctor so you are in charge of that part of your care, but he will beg to accelerate your healing with his magic if he can.
Eddie Brock & Venom
Venom brings you chocolates, which he then eats after you tell him he can, and says not to worry because if the doctors don't take proper care of you he will bite off their heads and eat their brains.
Eddie is nervous but trying to be brave, so you won't be scared. It doesn't help that Venom keeps telling Eddie not to make you nervous, which then, in turn, makes him nervous. He will try to make jokes and keep you entertained however he can.
Eddie and Venom try not to argue while they wait for you to get done with surgery. The last thing you need is to wake up and find out that they ended up in the psych ward for talking to/arguing with themselves in the waiting room. They are on their best behavior.
Both of them try to wait on you hand and foot after you get home. You've had to eat several well-meaning but truly gross breakfasts in bed so as not to disappoint either of them. They mean so well, but neither of them can cook beyond tater tots.
You have woken up to Venom staring at you because “one of us has to watch you at all times until you are recovered”. He took that 100% seriously. He has also stuck tendrils under the bathroom door like cat paws.
One great thing about Venom is the fact that thanks to his tendrils, he can literally get anything you need from around the apartment in seconds without you or Eddie having to get up. This makes him one of the best nurses ever. All you have to do is hint that you want something and boom, it's there.

SYNOPSIS — with billie finally back from tour, you find yourself not wanting to leave her side ever again.
PAIRING — billie eilish x fem!reader
CONTAINS — mostly fluff. homesick billie n lovesick reader <3
WARNINGS — none wow this is maturity
DEAR READER — merry christmas @r7leee :3 this one is for u babe!! keep the fic exchanges going this is sm fun
WORD COUNT — 0.7k, short and sweet :3
the first few weeks with billie gone were tolerable. before she went on tour for her chart-topping album 'hit me hard and soft', she mentioned to you that it would be a long time. begrudgingly, you replied that you could survive without her.
but on the last week she'd been gone, you were starting to second guess yourself.
it was the day she was flying back into los angeles and you swore you were pacing the rooms of your apartment, checking your phone at least every two minutes, waiting presumably for hours for a text from your girlfriend to say that her flight landed.
you tried everything to pass time—watched your favorite movies, did some baking, deep cleaned the entire apartment and even made a few new playlists, but nothing was taking your mind off of her and it seemed like no matter what you did, time was only extending.
while you were on your phone, scrolling away on the couch, you saw a notification pop down from the top of your screen. it was a text from billie. you clicked on it immediately, surprising even yourself with your quick reaction timing.
plane just landed :) can't wait to see you, darling
you replied back, omw right now, i miss you
you shot up instantly from the couch and ran to your front door, sliding on your shoes in a perfunctory manner and making a beeline to your car. the drive to the airport was around half an hour but you were anxious the entire time, not to mention excited. you hadn't seen billie in what felt like forever, and you couldn't wait to be in her arms again.
you messaged again when you parked the car, and she told you what section was in. you waited impatiently for her to come down the walkway and meet you. your leg was bouncing uncontrollably as you gazed down that hallway. she would be walk down there any minute.
after what seemed like lightyears worth of time, you glanced up from your phone that you became once again preoccupied with, and saw billie's figure walking your way in the distance.
your phone was long forgotten, along with your earbuds and whatever other belongings you brought with you, because you were up instantly and running down the building to billie. your legs sprinted her way, and billie's suitcases and bags were additionally left behind as she ran straight to you.
your bodies collided in a tight hug, your arms up around her neck and hers around your abdomen. you couldn't help but tear up into her shoulder as you held each other.
"billie, it's been so long.." you whisper-sobbed against her hoodie fabric. the scent embedded into it was what you longed for and missed all this time, it felt so surreal to have it again.
she giggled against you, though it still sounded like she was going to break into tears. "i told you it would be, babe," she teased.
"oh, shut up.."
billie's grip on you only tightened. she never admitted it, but she missed you just as much as you missed her, if not more.
she suddenly pulled away from you and when you lifted your head from her shoulder—your face coated in tears—she pressed a long, deep kiss into your lips. that action alone was enough to convey all her longing and love for you, even just as a reminder.
once billie decided she was done, she cupped both of your cheeks with her hands and rubbed some of the tears away from your eyes with her thumbs. "aww, my love.." she mumbled as her own eyes teared up more. she began to pepper small kisses all over your face, not even caring if anyone was watching the show of pda. she kissed your tears away gently, as if dedicating her love to each kiss.
your hands took her own face and brought her lips back to yours. the kiss was short but deep, filled with all your passion for her.
"wanna be next to you forever, baby," you mumbled against her lips, your thumbs subconsciously rubbing her face.
"i guess i could do with that," she replied, teasingly acting like she didn't want to.
you giggled and kissed her one last time for the time being. "you're such an idiot."

**part of my tortured poets concert event
--
“what did he do today?”
at the sound of megumi’s voice, coupled with his footsteps getting menacingly louder as he tracks down the hall, you immediately slam the tattered cardboard box shut, haphazardly leaning over it in some misguided attempt to prevent him from seeing the insides.
it partially does the job. true to your attempt, you covering the box with the weight of your body prevents him from seeing the contents. but the sight of you leaning over the counter, hands outstretched in a position so unnatural, doesn’t do the job of preventing him from asking again. or even raising the question as to why you were being so secretive in the first place.
“what’s in the box?” megumi asks.
“your birthday present.” you state.
megumi narrows his eyes at you.
“my birthday isn’t for another two months.”
“never hurts to start getting gifts early! especially since december can be busy with the holidays and all.” you murmur.
megumi narrows his eyes at you, his signal to you that he won’t necessarily drop his question, that instead he’ll be more adamant on the fact that he deserves the answer, as you retreat your hold on the box.
“did you want to eat breakfast?” you ask.
“sure. then, we can talk about what’s in there. and whatever tantrum gojo sensei threw this morning.”
you glare at him.
“it’s not a tantrum. he’s just…having a difficult time adjusting. it’s hard.” you insist.
megumi rolls his eyes.
“well, we’ve all had a difficult time. it’s not just him.” he mutters, the tone in his voice searingly angry.
there’s natural symptoms that you can expect from the ordeal – of satoru being put back together, inches from death, of megumi having his body used as a puppet – that you anticipate. the ones that you can expect are easy to handle, because you know what they are. could anticipate before hand what they would be.
shock.
numbness.
a loss of regular life.
megumi doesn’t say anything for two weeks. sometimes it takes a good effort to get satoru to shower. the two of them are no longer particularly fond of eating.
what you don’t expect is the disability. because in the aftermath of the loss, shoko can only put so much of satoru back together. and while mostly everything is intact – his limbs, his legs, his heart – the six eyes and the limitless technique don’t return. and in ways you can’t understand, it takes too harsh of a toll.
he can barely walk straight, slamming into doors or hitting the side edge of the coffee table because he insists he couldn’t sense it spatially, whatever that meant. the loss of limitless means that most of the times, standing still feels like he’s drowning, not being able to manipulate the space around him leaves him debilitated to the point where you sometimes find him cowering in a corner.
rambling over and over again about how he’s unprotected, far too exposed out in the open.
shoko can’t fix the six eyes or the limitless. and as long as you’re all concerned, they won’t ever return.
and neither will the satoru gojo that you knew and loved.
his frustrations drive him to be angry, withdrawn, and closed off every time you see him. unable to even ask for help.
and the byproduct of it all is just as shocking. because satoru gojo’s newfound flagrance for life is something that drives megumi fushiguro insane.
“satoru threw away his entire sunglasses collection this morning.” you state.
megumi frowns.
“isn’t it worth like…thousands of dollars?” he asks.
you shrug.
“he’s just insisting that he has no need for them anymore, so what’s the point of keeping them around where they’re just taking up space?”
megumi sucks in his teeth.
“i see. so why’d you go dig them out of the trash? you should have saved yourself the trouble than typing to help him when he’s intent on…on acting so pathetic.” he asks.
“i didn’t dig them out of the trash.” you retort.
megumi narrows his eyes at you.
“the box smells. you kind of do too. and i could hear you from my window this morning rustling with the bins, it woke me up.” he states.
you frown, before opening up the box, and reaching in for the set of sunglasses right at the top. they’re simple frames, silver on the sides, dark black shades, but now there’s a deep crack in the lens on the right. you’re afraid if you push it too hard, it’ll shatter into tiny pieces. but you throw away the thought, extending them out to megumi.
“do you remember these?” you ask.
megumi takes the frames, holding them up to the light, as he inspects them. he gives you a halfhearted shake.
“satoru wore these at our wedding. and every anniversary after, he’s…worn them to the dinner that we have together. makes some dumb joke about how he’s seeing me for the first time all over again.”
megumi gives a nod, before gently placing the frames back in the palm of your hand. he lets his hand linger in yours for a little too long, something that you’ve come to understand is his way of comforting you in the aftermath, as you give him a nod in response.
“he’ll be mad if you keep them. might even yell at you.” he murmurs.
“well, i’ll cross that bridge when i get there.”
--
you cross that bridge four days later. there’s only so many places to hide things in the apartment. your original thought – that hiding them in the kitchen because satoru can’t cook – doesn’t fare well when he decides to come poking for scissors.
“y/n.”
“hm?”
satoru’s suddenly materialized at your side, enough for you to abandon the pie crust you’re failing to mold, with his eyes narrowed at you.
“what are these?” he asks.
he holds up the sunglasses in the space between the two of you as you feel the embarrassed warmth run to your cheeks, and slightly take a step back.
“your sunglasses.” you murmur.
“i can see that. my question is what are they still doing here?” he seethes.
you shrug.
“i just thought you might want to keep them. i was holding on to them for you.”
satoru glares at you.
“you know, when i make the effort of walking all the way out to throw something in the dumpster, i’m fairly certain i don’t want them anymore. they were where they belonged.”
“i know, i know, i just thought…”
satoru heaves an exasperated sigh.
“thought what? that i’d need to use them again? i won’t fucking need to, because i can see just fine without them.”
you bite down on your lip. and he makes no signs of relenting.
“okay, but..”
“what part of this is so hard for you to understand? i don’t need your fucking help or for you to hold on to shit for me because you think i’ll regret it later. i won’t. i’m just fine without you trying to walk around, waiting hand and foot on me, because you think i’m defective.”
you frown, reaching forward to cup the side of his face. the mere gesture makes him flinch, enough for him to put distance between the two of you this time, and it makes your heart sink immeasurably.
“i don’t think you’re defective. you’re still the same and i…i’m just trying to be there for you in whatever way i can.”
“then why do you look at me like that?” he whispers.
“like what?”
“everytime, i walk into a wall by accident or brush against the table, you wince. you wince because i can’t find my fucking bearings with every stupid thing you’ve put in this apartment, and it drives me fucking insane because i don’t even want to look at you anymore. i understand it’s difficult, that you loved me the way that i was, but i’m just not the fucking same and i can’t do anything about it. you don’t have to make me these dumbass pies or cakes or whatever the fuck you’re trying to do everyday to celebrate my progress or whatever. i don’t care for any of it, so just give it a rest.”
you frown, dropping your hands to your side, as you dust away the last of the spare flour that’s melded into your hands. you can tell that he’s watching you, maybe a little too keenly, as you untie the apron around your neck and set it on the counter.
“you’re right, you know.” you mumble.
“what?”
“i loved you the way that you were.”
satoru frowns.
“the person i loved never raised his voice at me like that.” you whisper.
you reach forward, for the sunglasses discarded on the counter, and look down at the crack. it’s gotten noticeably bigger, probably from how satoru was shaking it around in the air a few seconds prior, before you look back up at him.
“the person i loved dragged these sunglasses out of his collection because they’re the exact ones he was wearing when i married him. he’d put them on and tell me that he was seeing me again for the first time, even though that wasn’t really true. and deep down, he probably knew that i thought it was a little cheesy, stupid even, but did it anyway because it made me laugh.”
you shake your head.
“he’d never throw these away. i’m sorry that i’m not…not as broken up that you’ve lost your six eyes or your limitless and i don’t know how to help you. i’m sorry i want to bake things and celebrate or whatever…but i almost lost you. i watched shoko sew you back together for hours, sat there for days when you didn’t wake up, and i was…just thankful that i got to see you again. in whatever state that you were. i’m sorry that it’s something that i thought warranted celebration, that the mere fact that you have the opportunity to struggle instead of be…be six feet under the ground…is something that i delight in.”
you sigh, before setting them back down on the counter, the warm tears bubbling in your eyes.
“but, please. by all means, throw them away. suppose they mean nothing to you when they’re not attached to the six eyes, anyways.”
and on that note, you turn on your heel and leave.
--
when you return home after three hours, there’s an almost pungent smell in the kitchen, so strong that it makes your nose water. you’re almost positive that in your absence the two of them made some horrible attempt at fixing themselves food, and you make a mental note to rectify their mess later.
you make your way over to the balcony doors to clear the air, except for the fact that the sliding door is already open, that satoru’s sitting criss crossed on the floor with megumi at his side, looking at the view of the city below.
you lightly wrap your knuckles against the door, the two of them turning their heads ever so slightly, as you lightly step out into the cold air. you crouch down, placing a hand on megumi’s shoulder and squeezing hard.
“mind if i talk to gojo alone?” you ask.
he gives you a polite smile, returning your gesture by placing his hand on your shoulder, and giving you a nod. the two of you switch spots, as you criss cross into the warmth megumi’s left behind, and hike your legs to your chest.
“so, i just wanted to say that…” you start.
satoru wordlessly slides two boxes in front of you. they’re dark black, a sparkling silver logo embossed into the material, tied together with a white ribbon. you shoot him a glare, before picking up the first box.
it makes you nervous, testing the waters with a joke when they were so tense when you left, but you do it anyways.
“are you trying to bribe me, satoru gojo?” you ask.
satoru gives you a smile. you note that it’s been extremely long since you’ve seen one.
“would that work, princess?”
“well, i didn’t marry you for your looks, pumpkin.” you joke, reaching forward to pinch his cheeks.
satoru fakes hurt, dramatically pressing his hand to his chest, as you pull the ribbon off the box. the sunglasses, glistening in perfect shape and sans cracks, are sitting in the box.
“oh, satoru. you didn’t have to…”
“yes, i did. they’re my wife glasses.”
you smile, reaching into the box and pulling the glasses out, and lightly pulling them around satoru’s ears. satoru shakes your hands off, only because you’ve horribly aimed for his ears, and readjusts them before leaning closer.
oh my goodness.” he murmurs.
“what?” you whisper.
satoru lifts his hands and places them on your cheeks, the touch warm, as he rubs circles into your cheeks.
“my wife is so pretty.”
you can’t help but grin, the warmth rushing to your cheeks.
“is that right?”
“so so pretty. and kind, and patient, and too good for me to begin with.” he responds.
you shake your head.
“not true. you…”
“very true.” he insists.
satoru drops his hands, fingers fast as he sets the sunglasses back in the open box, before interlocking his fingers in with yours. he’s looking down at your skin, tracing the callouses left behind on your palms.
“you know the worst part of losing the six eyes?” he whispers.
you shake your head.
“i could feel your cursed energy all the time. and now i can’t.”
he’s never told you that before.
“really? was my cursed energy hot?”
satoru rolls his eyes at you, an unmistakable smile on his face.
“unbelievable.”
he’s quiet again, fingers outlining one of the red gashes leftover from months prior in your skin.
“it was comforting. knowing you were around, all the time. that you were moving from the kitchen, or coming up the stairs, or…or sleeping. i’d reach for it sometimes, straining to feel it when you were far away in another classroom or something, whenever someone pissed me off. something to just calm me down.”
you smile.
“i’m still around. you might not be able to feel me…that way…but i’m still right here. all the time.”
satoru winces.
“kind of embarrassing, isn’t it?” he murmurs.
“what?”
“i’m sitting over here, reeling in the fact that i’ve lost…lost what you feel like to me, when you’re the one who actually had to live that.” he whispers.
you flip his hand over in yours, mimicking his motions by tracing circles into his hand instead.
“it was no big deal.” you joke.
satoru narrows his eyes at you.
“you thought i was dead, didn’t you?” he asks.
you nod.
“i didn’t just think it, satoru. you were dead. for a whole three hours, you were…no heartbeat. skin cold. the whole ten miles of…of dead people. i was sitting there thinking about how i was twenty-five years old and already a widow.” you respond.
satoru sighs.
“i’m still around too. and…still me in the ways that matter to you. you don’t need to follow me around like you’re worried i’m going to break. hell, i’m surely not as strong as i was before, but i’ve…i will put in efforts to safeguard myself so you won’t have to…cut your losses again.”
you smile.
“that would be appreciated, you know that?”
satoru gives you a wink, before lifting your fingers to press a kiss against your knuckles.
“it’s a deal, princess.”
“also…i hope you know i regretted what i said earlier. right after i said it. i’d love you in any iteration. two eyes, six eyes, eleven.”
satoru smiles, before closing the distance to press three featherlike kisses to your cheek. he retreats to slide the second box over to you, the one you left unopened, and places it in the palm of your hands. you slide the ribbon off just the same, pulling off the lid, to find what might possibly be the most unflattering glasses you’ve ever seen.
bright green, hexagon shaped, and comically small.
“well, that’s a choice.” you mumble.
“if your memory’s failing you, these are the sunglasses you picked out for me on our third or fourth date. pretty sure you were half joking, but…but it felt right to buy them now. rebuild my collection.”
“how much were they?”
satoru pinches his lips together in a line.
“well, i’d prefer to save myself from another lecture today, if that’s okay with you. ask me again tomorrow, princess.”

𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐌𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓. ୨ৎ 𝐉𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐄𝐍'𝐒 𝐋𝐈𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐑𝐘.
APRIL in texas brought wildflowers and warm breezes, painting the ranch in vibrant colors that made everything feel new again. four exact months had passed since that stormy december day when jensen first walked into your life, and somehow everything was different while staying exactly the same.
"he's coming over again?" hannah teased from her perch on the kitchen counter, watching you fidget with your hair in the reflection of the microwave door. "that's the third time this week."
"his dad and our dad are friends," you muttered, though you couldn't hide the flush creeping up your neck. "they're working on something."
kimberly snorted from the kitchen table. "yeah, working on getting you two married off."
"shut up, kim!"
"girls," your mom warned, but her eyes were twinkling as she kneaded dough for her famous cinnamon rolls. "leave your sister alone. though i must say, alan has been mighty pleased with how well you two get along."
you groaned, dropping your head onto the counter. "can we please talk about literally anything else?"
the sound of tires on gravel saved you from further torment. through the window, you could see alan's truck pulling up, jensen climbing out of the passenger side door. your heart did that annoying little flip it always did when you saw him now, but at least you'd learned to hide it better.
"sweetheart," your mom called as you headed for the door, "why don't you show jensen those new foals while your dad and his dad talk business?"
"subtle, mom. real subtle."
but you were already out the door, the spring air warm on your skin as you jogged down the porch steps. jensen met you halfway, that easy smile of his making your stomach flutter.
"hey," he said softly, like he always did, like it was just for you.
"hey yourself." you nodded toward the stables. "want to see the new additions?"
he fell into step beside you, close enough that your arms brushed. "lead the way."
the past four months had smoothed out most of the awkwardness between you, replaced it with something comfortable but charged with possibility. you'd learned things about him—how he took his coffee (black, two sugars), his favorite time of day (dawn, when the ranch was just waking up), how his laugh changed depending on what made him smile.
"you know," he starts, as you reached the stables, "my aunt martha's been asking about you."
you laughed, remembering the energetic woman from last month's family barbecue. "is she still convinced i need her secret recipe for peach cobbler?"
"she says, and i quote, 'that girl needs to know how to make a proper cobbler if she's gonna be part of this family.'"
your steps faltered slightly, but jensen pretended not to notice. that was another thing you'd learned about him—he knew when to push and when to let things breathe.
"your family's really taken a shine to me, huh?" you said, trying to keep your voice light as you led him to the newest foal's stall.
"can you blame them?" he leaned against the stable door, watching as you checked on the baby horse. "you're pretty easy to like."
before you could respond, a sharp voice cut through the air. "jensen! i thought that was your truck i saw!"
the happy bubble around you and jensen burst at daisy's sharp voice. she stood at the stable entrance like she owned it, her blonde hair perfectly curled despite the texas heat, wearing a sundress that seemed impractical for a ranch visit. your stomach twisted—she looked exactly like the kind of girl who belonged next to jensen.
"daisy." jensen's voice was flat, nothing like the warm tone he'd been using with you moments ago. his shoulders tensed, and he shifted slightly, putting himself between you and her.
"i've been trying to catch you at your place," she said, her boots clicking against the stable floor as she walked closer. each step felt deliberate, calculated. "daddy keeps saying you're never around anymore." her eyes flicked to you, a quick dismissive glance that made your skin crawl. "now i see why."
"been busy," jensen said shortly. you could see the way his jaw clenched, the way it did when he was holding back words. he turned back to you, deliberately showing daisy his back. "speaking of, you were gonna show me those training techniques you mentioned?"
daisy's perfectly painted lips curved into a sneer. "i guess the rumors about you two are true, then? funny, i always thought you had better taste, jensen."
"excuse me?" the words left your mouth before you could stop them.
jensen's hand found yours, squeezing gently. "there aren't any rumors, daisy," he said, his voice stern in a way you'd never heard before. "and even if there were, it wouldn't be any of your business. never has been."
she flushed, anger flashing across her face. "i just thought—"
"you thought wrong," he cut her off. "there was never a 'we', daisy. you decided there was something between us without ever asking me what i wanted. you showed up at my ranch uninvited, tried to insert yourself into my family, and spread rumors when i made it clear that i wasn't interested."
her composure began to crack. "that's not—i never—"
"you told half the county we were dating," jensen continued, his voice steady but angry. "even went as far as making things uncomfortable for everyone, including your dad. and now you're here, on private property, trying to do it again?"
"jensen—"
"you're wrong, daisy," he said firmly. "now, if you'll excuse us, we've got work to do. i'm sure you can find your way out."
daisy's face contorted with anger and embarrassment. "this isn't over," she spat, but her voice wavered. "daddy won't be happy about how you're treating me."
"your daddy knows exactly how i feel," jensen replied calmly. "has for months. why do you think he stopped bringing you around?"
she opened her mouth, closed it, then spun on her heel and stormed off. you could hear her volkswagen beetle engine rev aggressively as she peeled out of the ranch.
silence fell in the stable, broken only by the soft nickering of horses. jensen's hand was still holding yours, his thumb rubbing gentle circles against your skin.
"i'm sorry about that," he said finally, turning to face you. "i should've handled that situation better months ago."
"you don't have to apologize," you reassured him. "it's not your fault she..."
"got obsessed?" he supplied with a wry smile. "yeah, well. maybe if i'd been clearer from the start about where my interests lay, she wouldn't have gotten the wrong idea."
your heart skipped. "your interests?"
his free hand came up to cup your cheek, and suddenly you couldn't remember why you'd ever worried about daisy at all.
"listen," he moved closer, his eyes serious. "whatever you heard about me and daisy... it wasn't true. never was. she just... decided things were a certain way, and no matter how many times i told her different, she wouldn't listen."
"oh." you fiddled with the hem of your shirt. "i just thought... i mean, everyone said—"
"everyone says a lot of things," he stepped closer, his fingers catching your chin. "but the only girl i've been interested in since last december is standing right here, trying real hard not to look at me."
your eyes snapped to his, heat flooding your face. "jensen..."
"dinner's ready!" kimberly's voice rang out across the yard, making you both jump apart.
jensen laughed, shaking his head. "your sisters have terrible timing."
dinner at your house had become a regular thing, both families crowded around the large oak table your grandfather had built. your mom had outdone herself tonight—pot roast, fresh rolls, and three different kinds of pie.
"this is incredible, melanie," alan said to your mom, helping himself to seconds. "you've outdone yourself."
"oh, it's nothing special," your mom waved him off, but she was beaming. "though, i did try that new seasoning donna suggested."
jensen's mom smiled warmly. "i told you it would make all the difference."
you were seated between jensen and hannah, trying to ignore the knowing looks both your sisters kept shooting your way. jensen's knee pressed against yours under the table, a steady warmth that made it hard to focus on your food.
"remember when these two first met?" your dad chuckled, gesturing between you and jensen. "her in those pajamas of hers, looking like she'd seen a ghost."
"dad!" you groaned as everyone laughed.
"oh, i remember," alan grinned. "jensen came home that very next day talking about—"
"hey, dad," jensen cut in quickly, his ears reddening. "maybe we should talk about something else?"
hannah leaned over to whisper in your ear. "bet he told his daddy all about how pretty y'looked in those shorts."
you elbowed her sharply, but you couldn't help smiling.
after dinner, everyone migrated to the back porch. the texas sunset painted the sky in pinks and purples, the air cooling just enough to be comfortable. you found yourself sitting on the porch swing with jensen, your families' voices creating a comfortable backdrop of chatter.
"so," you said softly, "what exactly did you tell your dad that night?"
jensen groaned. "you're not gonna let that go, are ya?"
"nope."
he was quiet for a moment, then he spoke up, "i told him i'd met the prettiest girl i'd ever seen, even if she was wearing pajamas and looked like she wanted to murder me."
"i did not!"
"sweetheart, you looked at me like i was the devil himself."
"well, you were smirking at me!"
"because you were adorable," he said simply, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "still are."
before you could respond, kimberly's voice floated over, "you two want some privacy?"
"kim!" you hissed, but jensen just laughed, his arm sliding along the back of the swing behind you.
"nah," he answered coolly. "just enjoying the view."
your mom then appeared in the doorway, holding a fresh pie. "who wants dessert?"
as everyone headed inside, jensen caught your hand. "hey."
"yeah?"
"just... i'm glad your dad made you help that day. even if you did try to hide from me for weeks after."
you ducked your head, embarrassed. "well, to be fair, i thought you were dating daisy."
"never," he said firmly. "not her, not anyone. been waiting for the right girl."
"is that so?"
his thumb brushed over your knuckles, just like it had that night. "yeah."
"jensen! honey, you want apple or cherry?" his mom called.
he squeezed your hand once before standing, pulling you up with him. "we should get in there before they send out a search party."
"or before my sisters start making more comments?"
"that too." he tugged you closer, pressing a quick kiss to your forehead that left you stunned. "come on, pretty girl. let's go face the firing squad."
later that night, after both families had gone home and your sisters had thoroughly exhausted their teasing, you lay in bed thinking about everything. your mom poked her head in, smiling knowingly.
"you have a good day?"
"mom..."
she sat on the edge of your bed, smoothing your hair back like she used to when you were a little girl. "you know, i remember when i first met your father. he had that same look in his eyes that jensen gets when he looks at you."
"mama," you whined, but you were smiling.
"i'm just saying," she stood, heading for the door. "some things are worth taking a chance on."
as you stared up at the ceiling of your bedroom, you thought about jensen's words, about waiting for the right girl. maybe, just maybe, your mom was right.

Silent Regrets~Kenan Yildiz

・❥・who I write for
Kenan walked through the door, his shoulders slumping with exhaustion.
She had been waiting for this moment all day, eager to see him after weeks of barely spending time together. The excitement bubbled in her chest as she hurried to the living room, but when she saw his face—tired, irritated—she hesitated.
Still, she couldn’t stop the soft smile that crept onto her face. "Kenan," she said, her voice filled with warmth. "You’re home early."
He tossed his bag onto the couch and let out a heavy sigh, not meeting her gaze. "Yeah."
"how was training?" she said, her tone still light.
"Long," he muttered, sitting down and leaning back against the cushions, his eyes shutting briefly.
She bit her lip, unsure whether to push further. He had been distant lately, and the silence between them had grown unbearable. Maybe tonight could be different.
"I made your favorite for dinner," she said softly, trying to gauge his mood.
"Not hungry," he replied, his voice flat.
The rejection stung, but she swallowed the lump in her throat, determined not to let it show. "Do you want to talk about your day? Or maybe—"
"Can you just stop?" His words sliced through the room, sharp and sudden, and it felt like a slap.
Her heart sank. "Stop what?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
He opened his eyes, his jaw tight as he stared at her. "This. Hovering. Trying to talk when I don’t want to. You’re always… there. I just need some peace, okay?"
She stood frozen, the weight of his words crashing down on her. "I… I’m just trying to be here for you, Kenan," she said, her voice trembling.
"Well, maybe I don’t need that right now," he snapped, running a hand through his hair. "Maybe I need you to give me some space."
The words hit harder than than expected, and she took a step back, her arms wrapping around herself as if to shield from the sudden cold between them. "Space," she repeated, the word catching in her throat.
He sighed, rubbing his temples. "I’m just tired, okay? I’ve had a terrible day, and I don’t have the energy for this."
She nodded slowly, blinking back tears. "Okay," she whispered. "I’ll… give you space."
Without another word, she turned and walked away, her heart heavy with all the hurt she kept in.
She could feel his gaze on her back for a moment before the sound of the television filled the room, drowning out the silence that screamed louder than any argument ever could.
Days had passed and she pulled back. It wasn’t intentional at first—it was self-preservation.
Sue stopped waiting at the door for him, stopped trying to talk to him when he came home. She became quieter, less present.
Where once she filled the silence with stories and laughter, now she simply jusy existed.
Kenan noticed. At first, he thought he had finally gotten what he wanted: space. But as the days stretched on, the emptiness began to gnaw at him. The house felt cold, her absence glaringly obvious even when she was just a room away.
He came home one evening to find her sitting at the kitchen table, staring blankly at her untouched dinner. She didn’t even look up when he entered.
"Hey," he said softly, his voice hesitant.
"Hey," she replied without emotion, her gaze fixed on her plate.
The lifelessness in her voice hit him like a punch to the gut. "Did you eat?"
She shook her head. "Not really hungry."
He frowned, stepping closer. "Is everything okay?"
She laughed bitterly, the sound hollow. "I could ask you the same thing."
He hesitated, the guilt bubbling to the surface. "I’ve been a jerk, haven’t I?"
She didn’t respond immediately, her fingers tracing the edge of her fork. "You told me I was too much," she said quietly. "So I decided to be less."
His heart sank at her words, the weight of his actions crashing down on him. "I didn’t mean it," he said, his voice breaking. "I was angry and frustrated, and I took it out on you. But I never meant that."
She finally looked at him, her eyes filled with hurt. "You said it, though. And it’s all I’ve been able to hear since."
He knelt beside her, reaching for her hands. "I’m sorry," he whispered, his voice trembling. "I’ve been so caught up in my own stress that I didn’t see how much I was hurting you. You’re not too much—you’re everything I need. And I’ve been pushing you away like an idiot."
Tears welled in her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. "Do you even realize how hard it is to feel like you’re a burden to the person you love most?"
His grip on her hands tightened, his own tears threatening to spill. "You’re not a burden. You’re my world, and I’ve been too blind to see how much I was taking you for granted. Please, give me a chance to fix this. I’ll do anything."
She searched his face, looking for the sincerity she needed to see. When she found it, the tears she'd been holding back finally fell. "You really hurt me, Kenan," she said softly.
"I know, I'm sorry" he whispered, pulling her into his arms. "I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up to you."

Different format of the previous post
---
Whumpee who is captured by the enemy, and held as a prisoner in one of the high ranking's room (royal? officer? magical fighter? etc?)
Whumpee is chained to the wall, their wrists bound and a chain connecting them to it. There is no way out.
They don't have a lot of room to move, and there is nothing in their reach.
They have to sit on the floor, sleep on the floor, there is just nothing given to them
The Enemy (let's call them B) steps too close, the first time. Whumpee instantly grabs them and tries to choke them with their chains. But B is a competent fighter and Whumpee is weakened, so they overpower them
B pushes Whumpee down to the floor, strongly advising them to not try that again
Whumpee isn't given a lot of food. B starts to feel bad for them and shares their meal with them.
Eventually, they pull their table into Whumpee's reach and give them a chair. They now eat together. It's almost normal.
Weeks pass. One day, when B is not in the room, Whumpee freaks out and starts pulling on their chains, the desperation to get free too strong to think rationally.
They injure themselves, their wrists start to bleed
When B comes back, they notice the wounds and help Whumpee clean them. This is the first time they take off the cuffs.
B gives them padding after that
B can't imagine how bored Whumpee must be, and starts taking them on walks.
They end up in the training grounds, and they start to spar. It's a good way for Whumpee to let out some steam.
B starts to actually enjoy themselves.
Whumpee does too, but they won't admit it
They start to talk more. And they realize they actually like each other. Maybe in another life, they would have been friends.
There are days when Whumpee fully shuts down, and won't talk. All they do is softly pull on the chains, it doesn't seem they even notice doing it.
Whumpee feels conflicted about liking B. Do they like them only because B is the only one nice to them? How messed up is it that they like the person who is holding them captive?
Maybe one day B decides that enough is enough, and they help Whumpee escape.
NSFW under the cut (sexual content, not explicit)
The tension between them grows, Whumpee with their restless energy, and B who has always felt lonely, but now has someone stuck in their room.
B starts to let Whumpee walk around unchained, and they spent many nights just sitting near each other, talking.
The tension is too much, and Whumpee makes the first move. They reach out, pull B closer and kiss them
B kisses them back instantly
They know it's wrong, but they can't stop
Whumpee pulls B to the bed, and B asks them if they're sure. Whumpee tells them to shut up, and just make them feel something, take their mind away from here, from everything. Please
After, they both feel wrong. Whumpee longed for B's touch, and how messed up is that? Do they like B, or is it just because B is the only person here?
B likes Whumpee and wanted them, but they feel so wrong about it. Whumpee is their prisoner, what if they just did this so B would maybe let them go one day?
They try to stop, but end up in bed together again and again.
Eventually, B does let them go. The goodbye is difficult for both of them, and they are left with confusing thoughts after.
Years later, when there is peace between the two sides, they meet again. B sees Whumpee as a free person for the first time, and Whumpee looks good.
They start talking again, this time without chains or power between them. It's still weird, given their past, but they just connect.
Maybe, just maybe, they can overcome their past

Tease | Elijah Mikaelson
Summary: You have sizzling chemistry, but Elijah refuses to make the first move. So you do.
Pairing: Elijah Mikaelson x Vampire reader
Genre: Suggestive, Strict!Elijah
Word count: <1k
"I can't do this anymore," you said. Your body trembled from exhaustion.
You felt Elijah's cool black eyes look you up and down.
It was boiling hot in the tiny music room. Elijah had been teaching you violin for the last twelve hours.
You put your violin down. “Go find some other vampire to micromanage."
Elijah stood watching you, arms crossed. Then, he swept your hair back, his fingers grazing your neck.
Your heart thudded. Elijah had always treated you as his talented protege… but you wanted more.
“Stay,” he said, a smile pulling at his lips.
You huffed.
Elijah pulled you close to him, and put one finger under your chin. “I’ll let you do the teaching. How about that?”
You broke out in a smile. “Okay… But my first note is - to take this violin away from you!”
You snatched his violin and moved at vampire speed to the corner of the room.
Elijah followed you with amazed eyes.
“You can’t touch this poor instrument,” you said, clutching the violin to your chest. “Your playing is too neat and clean. It's an insult to jazz!”
Elijah raised an eyebrow, and you wondered if you'd really offended him.
He walked slowly towards you, one hand in his pocket.
“Darling,” he said quietly. “Give that back.”
You shook your head.
He narrowed his eyes, then sprang at you like a lion. You gasped, as he lifted your whole body in one arm and took the violin in the other. Music stands crashed onto the floor.
“How dare you insult my playing,” he said, carefully pronouncing each word against your ear. You shivered.
“I had to,” you said. You looked up into his eyes. “You’ll never be good at jazz until you learn how to lose control.”
You regained your footing. You put one hand on Elijah’s chest and pushed him backwards. Elijah's eyes stared deep into yours, utterly trusting, as he walked backwards.
You pushed him down, so he was sitting on the piano stool, his head falling against the keys with a loud clang.
“Somebody will hear,” he said, his eyes flashing to the door.
You raised an eyebrow. “Like I said. You can’t control everything.”
Your fingers toyed with the top button of his shirt. Elijah nodded slightly, and you opened it.
You slid your fingers over his warm chest. You could feel the thud of his heart.
You leaned in and kissed him deeply. You felt Elijah's chest swell as he breathed you in. You kissed with the excitement of weeks of anticipation, notes scrawled on sheet music that said things like 'savour it' and 'climax'.
Just as you were settling into the kiss, Elijah turned your bodies around, so he was on top, and you were pressed against the piano.
“Elijah!” you said, panting. “Where did that come from?”
Elijah sucked the soft underside of your jaw, his eyes slipping shut.
"Hmm... what's the word?" he said. "I was improvising."

Swallow Your Words
Part 1
Incel!Shigaraki. Quirkless/college seniors AU.
I’m doing this as a series not a one shot because in the process of writing it I got attached to the characters and the plot QnQ this will have a positive character arch for Shiggy. This first part ends on a bit of a climactic spot, but hang in there I’m already writing the next part that will have some spice ♡
tw: HEAVY misogyny; like upsettingly so; I read Reddit threads and instagram comments to get into the headspace of an incel for this; yes it did hurt my brain; that’s all for now I think. Future parts will have heavy smut.
———————————————————————————
Okay, so maybe going out on your third date this week with another brand new guy right after your shift at work wasn’t the brightest idea considering you still had abnormal psych homework to finish. You blearily trudged into your campus library, thankfully open 24 hours, and shuffled into the computer lab. Taking out your textbook, you set to work on the writing assignment due in approximately 6 hours. You got this.
As you were furiously typing up your mock evaluation of patient number 3, you heard someone cough. It made you jump, it was nearly 11pm and you could’ve sworn you were in here alone. You looked around the room as calmly as you could and spotted him sitting two rows of computers down, you were facing each other so he caught you looking. Damn it, not him.
Tomura Shigaraki, AKA rich asshole misogynist lives off daddy’s money motherfucker. He caught sight of your decidedly slutty outfit (a tank top push up bra miniskirt combo that never failed to get your dinner covered and a super oversized zip up hoody) and unmistakably doneforadate hair and makeup when you’d walked in, paying him no mind.
-What a bitch, he thought. She probably came here straight from getting fucked over some loser’s coffee table and was so disappointed at how shit he was that she decided maybe she didn’t wanna flunk out senior year and came here to finish her homework.- He rolled his eyes.
He’d had a crush on you since he first saw you freshman year. And he hated himself for it. Just like he hated how soft your hair looked, or how good you smelled sitting at the desk in front of him, or how your eyes sparkled when you laughed at something your friends said. He hated it all. Women were good for nothing cheaters and gold-digging sluts, just like his first stepmother. And the second. And the last. And the current. He’d watched these women sneak around his father after he’d given them everything and it was never enough for them. His father, ever pragmatic, would just get rid of them and find a new one when he finally caught them. Watching this happen over and over again taught him two things. 1) Women are worthless and 2) Women are replaceable. But not you. It didn’t matter how many girls Touya set him up with, he couldn’t get you out of his head. It pissed him off. He should be able to just fuck any bitch and get it out of his system. But he couldn’t. It was torture. And it made him hate you more.
You rolled your eyes, breaking eye contact and he chuckled. You tried your hardest to ignore him, fuck that guy. You could practically hear his internal obnoxious comments from here. He had been in at least one of your classes every semester since freshman year of college. He totally wasn’t stalking you. You had the same major, Forensic Psychology, so you told yourself it made sense you’d be taking similar classes. He’d managed to piss you off for the last four years almost every single day. He and his friend Touya, another trust fund kid that shared your major, would often make crude remarks back and forth to each other during class. Because their fathers donate so much money to the college, the professors can’t say anything without fear of retaliation. You could though, and often did when you couldn’t stand ignoring them any longer. Usually embarrassing them into shutting the fuck up for the day. The blissful peace never lasted long however.
“You get all dressed up like that just for me? I’m touched, but I think I’ll pass. I don’t know where you’ve been.” He sneered, finally deciding to break the silence. You raised an eyebrow at him and took in his relaxed posture. Leaning back in his chair, arms crossed behind his head, shit eating grin splitting his infuriatingly pretty face. You scoffed at him, eyebrow still raised, and went back to doing your homework. “What, no snotty retort? I’m almost offended. Cat got your tongue? Or is that tongue too tired from what it got up to tonight?” He mimed sucking a dick and you sighed deeply. “Oh please, as if I’d get this dressed up just to impress you. All it would take is a T-shirt and jeans anyway, since we both know the last woman you saw in a mini skirt only talked to you cause you paid her.” You snarked back.
He visibly tensed. “I don’t pay whores to spend time with me, so if you’re searching for a summer job keep looking.” You actually laughed. Out loud. “You silly little rich boy, no amount of money is worth stooping low enough to fuck an incel like you.”
Your laugh caught him off guard. It was long and loud and almost musical. It pissed him off. So did everything about you. You were too good at reading people, at reading him. He wanted to listen to you laugh more. Almost as much as he wanted to fuck that stupid beautiful grin off your face. Instead, he just huffed and deflated slightly. “What makes you think I’m an incel? Is it cause I don’t go on 10 dates a week? Not all of us are that desperate, honey.” He threw back at you. Without even looking up, you shot back, “It was only 3, fyi, and don’t call me that. Also, no it’s not that. It’s everything about you. You have never, in 4 years of being unfortunately aware of your existence, ever shown that you hold even a modicum of respect for women. Any woman. And you and your jerk bff do nothing in class but talk over and make sexual comments about the girls sitting around you while making assumptions about their personal lives. God forbid we have a female professor! You dont go on dates because every woman in a 10 mile radius of you knows what a disgusting shitbag you are. You make it exceptionally clear that you don’t want us around other than to occasionally stoke your micro dick while you get off to cartoon porn. Now shut the fuck up and let me finish my homework.” You glanced at the clock, 11:30. Ugh, tomorrow is going to suck.
He seethed. No one spoke to him like that ever. It pissed him off that some dumb slut like you thought you could get away with it. He was going to get even. He was going to find a way to make you his. He was going to be the one to bend you over his coffee table. And his desk. And his car. And anything else he felt like bending you over. He would get you to submit to him. And he would make it painful and humiliating for you, just to prove a point. Let’s see you call him an incel shitbag after that.
He contemplated how he was going to do this for a few minutes. He decided he would start by just playing it cool. Sighing long and loud, he started, “Hey, are you working on the Abnormal or the Physio homework?” He asked, putting effort into making himself sound exasperated. -There is no way this is going to work, he thought.- You raised your brow again, “Abnormal, already did the physio. Why?” You were immediately skeptical. “I missed class yesterday, and this really sucks but I’m stuck on this bullshit.” He wasn’t. “You think you might deign to help me? And let me copy your notes?” He looked at you almost… hopefully. What the fuck? “Uh, are you sure you’d want such a ‘dumb worthless bitch’ to help you with your homework? I’d hate to drop your IQ by breathing the same air as you.” You said flatly, throwing some of his more common insults back in his face. “Oh come on, we both know your GPA is like a 4.2-” “4.5.” You corrected. He sighed in irritation. “Look, will you please just come over here and help me? I’ll even call it tutoring, I’ll pay you.” You regarded him skeptically. Damn it, if you didn’t really really need the cash. “Hmm. Okay, fine. I’ll help you. But only if you promise to leave me alone in class from now on. Stop snapping my bra straps and making gross comments about me to Touya, I mean it. And it’s gonna be 100$ bucks to help you with two classes at midnight the night before the homework is due.”
-Pocket change, he thought.-
-Easy money, you thought.-
That was… shockingly easy. He hadn’t expected you to actually agree to help him. Or to gather your things and gracefully float over to the chair and computer next to his. You pulled up her homework again, continuing to work on it. “So, what did you need help…with…” you trailed off as you looked to his computer to see what he was stuck on. He was watching cartoon porn. On a school computer. He quickly clicked out of it and his homework came into view. Well, you thought, at least he was actually doing his homework. At some point. You gazed at him from the corner of her eye. He really is an incel. He grinned at you almost evilly. Although man, ok, getting caught watching porn on a school computer totally does nothing to refute your incel accusation. But it did make you flush satisfyingly. You held out your hand expectantly. He rolled his eyes and pulled out his wallet, handing you a crisp 100$ bill. You gawked at it, “It’s a wonder no one has ever mugged you I swear.” You said, shaking your head. The motion caused your hair to swish prettily, he could smell your shampoo. He pulled his backpack into his lap.
You spent the petter part of the next hour doing your homework together, you “helping” him as you went. He was surprised you actually knew what you were talking about. He was surprised you could retain any information in that wind tunnel you called a skull, even knowing your GPA was as high as it was. You were actually…smart? You didn’t look smart, you looked like every other college whore with dyed hair and winged eyeliner. It made him angrier, for some reason. It made him want to crush you beneath him even more. You on the other hand were surprised that he was able to hold a conversation with you for this long without insulting you. You actually just laughed at one of his jokes. “You know, you’re actually fun to talk to when you’re not constantly putting me down.” You said, smile wide and eyes all sparkly again. Ugh. He hated how it made his stomach flip. “Am I?” He attempted a smile back. “Mhmm. You’re even a little bit funny. JUST a little bit.” You joked back while typing up the last bit of your assignment.
Funny? She thinks I’m funny? And.. ‘fun’ to talk to? Girls didn’t usually think so, even when he wasn’t insulting them. They usually couldn’t get past his face. He had eczema, and even though his father’s very expensive doctors worked hard to keep it under control so it wasn’t angry red and weeping anymore, his skin WAS chronically dry. Even his face and neck, though it was worst around his eyes. The skin there looked stretched and almost flaky, though it wasn’t NEARLY as bad as it had been when he was a child. He had a scar over one of his eyes that started above his eyebrow and fell just above his cheekbone and another scar on his mouth from when he was a kid and couldn’t stop scratching at his face. He looked… deranged maybe? Not pretty. Certainly not pretty, you told yourself over and over while sitting there talking with him like it was a normal thing you did. Certainly not pretty, with his pale shaggy hair and his big eyes that looked almost like shiny rubies this close up and the little beauty mark on his chin. Even his scar made him look… you didn’t know, edgy? Beautiful, a sick twisted part of your mind offered. Oh god no. PLEASE no.
You started packing up your things and getting ready to go. “Well, this wasn’t the worst end to a night I’ve ever had. Thanks for keeping me company, I’ll see you in class in… god, 4 hours?” You smiled at him, getting up from your chair. It was nearly 2:30 in the morning. He laughed a bit, “Ah, yeah. Thank you for helping me finish.” Even HE cringed a bit and that double entendre. “But uh, hey, you live off campus right? Just come crash on my couch, I’ll take you to class after we both get a power nap. That way you don’t have to wake up even earlier just to come back.” He casually suggested way more confidently than he felt. (Now listen, if you’ve never pulled an all nighter right before a 6am class, you might think this is insane. But this… this was like the dove and the olive branch.)
-Thank god, you thought. And he’s really not so bad honestly, maybe you just had to get to know him. Famous last words. -
You practically beamed up at him, now standing at his full height, “That would be so nice actually, thank you!” You paused. “As long as you don’t try to do anything to me in my sleep.” You narrowed your eyes at him. He laughed.
You got to his dorm and your jaw dropped. It wasn’t a dorm. It was a dedicated on campus villa for his family to use when visiting or attending classes. His whole family were alumni of this college it seemed. Apparently Touya’s family had one too, right next door, which is how they’d met as freshman. It was… adorable. Landscaping clearly took care of the outside, the grass was immaculate and the garden in front was lousy with flowers and shrubbery and meticulously kept ivy that climbed latticework around the windows. Above the door was a gold plaque, “In honor of family Shigaraki for their generous donations throughout the history of this campus.” The Shigaraki was the largest thing in the plaque, written in elegant swirling cursive.
“It’s beautiful.”, you said in awe. You’d never imagined a person like him would live in a place that looked like this. How is he so miserable? You wondered. He has money and a beautiful house and his college is payed for in full. He’ll never have to worry about student loan debt or whether he’ll eat or not or his parents medical bills or his siblings needing new clothes and shoes for school. He’ll never have to go on dates just to eat because his whole paycheck goes to his family to make sure they survive until he’s making enough money to support all of them. You just… couldn’t understand. It seemed like he had everything.
He seemed surprised by your compliment of the place. “Oh, thanks. Yeah it’s pretty old now, but the school keeps it in great condition. The past four generations of Shigarakis have lived in this place. I didn’t think much of it at first, just a place to pass out and do homework. But a year ago I went into the attic and found an old picture album my grandmother made while she went here. It made it feel… more important.” He rambled on while he fumbled with the keys in the lock, not sure why he was telling you this. “Ahg, this damn thing always sticks.” He finally unlocked it and ushered you inside.

CW: underage drinking, being drunk
More teen Harry Severitus antics:
The two had grown closer in the past year or two, its 6th year and everything seems to be calmer to an extent. They come up with a schedule where Harry goes to meet up with Severus on a weekly basis.
It started as extra defense or occlumency lessons but turns into a glorified excuse to be in one another’s presence.
That day, the Gryffindor are throwing an after Quidditch victory party. Harry tells Severus that he won’t meet up with him, wanting to spend his time as a normal teenager for once. All Severus does is nod, quietly disappointed but not enough to make it known.
There’s drinks involved, so so many drinks have been smuggled into the common room and there’s is a 100% chance that someone already spiked the pumpkin juice.
At least three Gryffindor are using the couch as a mock stage for their spontaneous band, singing songs the entire time Harry is there. The music is so loud everyone has to basically scream to be heard despite being right next to one another.
Harry’s using this as an excuse to lay back, relax a little after all the events of the previous days, weeks, months, years, honestly his entire life at this point. So he gets a little reckless, drinking 1 shot, then 2, then 3, and surely he’s down like 6 shots by now. By the end he’s come to the brilliant realization that he is a light weight.
Cursing his childhood starvation which caused his stunted height and forgetfulness (he forgot to eat earlier) he’s essentially bumbling around like an idiot.
He is plastered out of his mind and the brightly colored lights, loud music, screaming, touching, everything about the party is suddenly too much for him. All he wants is his dad. The silence of the dungeons, the soft glow of a fire place and the comfort of his room that Severus had made specifically for him during the summer.
Before he knows it he’s out of the common room, shutting the portrait and leaving all the noise behind him. He’s dazedly walking, functioning on muscle memory alone to bring him to Severus’s quarters.
He wasn’t even thinking about the possible consequences of an adult figuring out that he was drunk.
Thankfully, (or maybe unthankfully) Harry runs right into Severus on his walk to the dungeons, not even noticing him in his drunken stupor. Severus wraps his arms around him automatically.
“And what are you doing out past curfew so far away from the lions den, Mr. Potter?” the professor drawled out, still keeping his hold on Harry.
The drunk child squints up at him, “Dad? When did you get here?”
Before the man can stop himself, his hold tightens in shock at the title. Quickly grabbing his wand from his holster he performs a diagnostic spell.
0.145 Blood Alcohol Content
Merlin this boy does not do things by halves.
He sighs in relief however, “idiot boy.”
While the results were troubling and he would be taking points, giving him detention and a lecture tomorrow, it was nothing that couldn’t be fixed within a day. He had gotten used to the boy only using that title in traumatizing, near death scenarios. It was comforting to know that the child could use it unbidden outside of those contexts.
Deciding that the best solution is to simply bring him to their quarters as the Gryffindor tower was farther and likely still had the party going on, they head off.
Severus practically carries Harry back to the quarters. At first he tried simply guiding him with a hand on his back, but Harry’s lack of coordination was too painful to watch for long.
He opens the doors to their make shift home, laying Harry on the couch while he goes to grab some water in the hopes that it sobers him up a little.
As the professor goes to the kitchen, Harry’s gaze is glued to the fire place, mesmerized by its flames. His sitting in silence, contrary to how he usually behaves when near the man. He only reacts when the Professor returns with the glass of water and a slice of buttered toast to eat.
“Eat you foolish child, it’s a wonder you haven’t blacked out yet,” he pinches the bridge of his nose, “nothing in your system and you decide to drink enough to knock out a hippogriff. I should withhold the hangover drought from you in the morning.”
The threat is empty. He knows he couldn’t stand seeing the-this-his boy in pain for any longer than absolutely necessary.
Harry doesn’t respond to his comments, being unable to focus on them because of the intoxication. He finishes his toast and water though. Apparently that was all his body had energy left for, choosing the couch as the perfect bed for the night. He lays down and curls up, staring up at his guardian.
Severus huffs but procures a blanket and some pillows for him, far too susceptible to his sad dog eye look. When Harry frowns and makes a small hand gesture towards him, non verbally asking that he tucks him in, the man obliges, hushing him while he does so.
Just like that the teen is out like a light.
The guardian removes his glasses and puts them off to the side. He brushes Harrys bangs off his face as he listens to the slow crackle of the fire and their combined breaths.
“What am I going to do with you?” Despite the words, there’s no mistaking the fondness in his tone.
He leaves the room, shutting off the light after one last look to make sure his boy was breathing.

Dreams Come True
Chapter 2: Ain’t It Funny?
modern au! hockey star! vi x idol! reader
summary: reader finally debuts and so does vi’s hockey career.
notes: thank you everyone for the likes on chapter 1! im forever grateful! your debut song is eung eung by apink
chapters: one, two, christmas special
The sunlight streaming through the floor-to-the ceiling windows of the practice room caught the streaks of your newly dyed and styled hair. You barely noticed, too focused on the beat of the music echoing through the room. Your movements sharp, deliberate, a reflection of the countless hours you’d poured into perfecting every detail of the choreography.
It’s been a year since Vi broke up with you and your debut was a few weeks away. The past year has been nothing but training, practicing, filming the music video and singing in the studio. You loved every second of it especially since you’ve got to spent it with Mel, who was now your roommate.
Everything about you had changed
Your hair, now a honey blonde to match with your girl group concept, but you loved it. It matched you perfectly and the way the stylist styled it made you love it even more.
The shy yet unsure trainee from a year ago was gone, replaced with someone confident, determined, and unyielding.
“(Y/N), let’s take a break,” Mel called, tossing you a water bottle. You caught it and sank onto the floor, leaning against the mirrored wall. Mel plopped down beside you, just as sweaty but somehow still composed.
“You’re gonna kill it,” Mel said, nudging your shoulder. “We all are. This group wouldn’t be the same without you.”
You gave a small smile, though your thoughts wandered. Over the past year, you’ve thrown yourself into work, and it had paid off. You’d managed to finish your senior year online, earning your diploma in the midst of grueling rehearsals.
But the cost had been steep. You haven’t spoken to Vi since the night of your fight. You cut ties completely, deleting Vi’s number, ignoring her messages, and avoiding the hockey rink on campus like the black plague. The one exception was her little sister, Jinx.
You and Jinx had stayed in touch, her chaotic energy and blunt humor was a strange comfort to you during the hardest days.
Vi’s knuckles tightened around the edge of the rink’s barrier as the shrill sound of coach’s whistle echoed through the air. The icy chill of the arena bit at her cheeks, but she barely noticed. Hockey had always been her escape, her channeling every emotion she didn’t have the words to express. This past year, it became her lifeline.
Her rise to fame was meteoric. Every game she played brought her closer to being a national icon. Sport channels ran highlight reels of her devastating slap shots and lightening fast reflexes. Articles praised her for her aggressive, no-nonsense playing style, calling her a future legend. Fans chanted her name at every match, holding up signs with slogans like “Vi the Viper”
But beneath all the accolades and the roaring crowd, Vi was suffocating.
Off the ice, her life was a stark contrast to the glory of the rink. She had shut herself off from almost everyone, retreating behind a wall of icy indifference. Ellie, her team captain, noticed it first.
“Vi you’re late again dude,” Ellie said one afternoon after practice, her tone exasperated.
Vi shrugged, tossing her gear into her locker. “What the big deal? I’m here aren’t I?”
“The big deal,” Ellie said sharply “Is that you’re not yourself. You’re snapping at everyone, skipping team meetings to fuck bitches, and whatever else you’re doing…it’s affecting the team and you clearly”
Vi didn’t answer. What could she say? She didn’t have the energy to explain the gnawing emptiness that had settled in her chest since she walked away from (Y/N).
She threw herself into hockey and nothing else . Relationships? She didn’t do those anymore. They were messy too much effort. Instead she indulged herself in the occasional fan hookups—fleeting, physical distractions with no strings attached.
The backstage area buzzed with frantic energy. Stylist and coordinators darted around, fixing last minute touches on hair, makeup and outfits. You sat in front of a massive mirror, your heart pounding as you stared at your reflection. Your shimmering gold and white stage outfit fit you perfectly, the intricate details catching the glow of the lights above.
You hair was curled into bombshell curls. It was a far cry from how you used to wear it, but it fit you so much. It fit the new version of yourself you had fought so hard to become.
You closed your eyes and took a deep breath, her hands gripping the edge of the vanity. “You’ve got this,” you whispered to yourself. “You’ve waiting for this moment your whole life.”
A ping broke through your thoughts, and you glanced at your phone. It was a message from Jinx.
Tinker ⚙️💙: I managed to get tickets! I can’t wait to see you!
A smile appeared on your face as you looked at the message. Before you could respond, your manager, Steb, opened the door to your group’s dressing room.
“It’s time. Let’s get it!”
You stood at your cue, beside your group members. Each member was a picture of poise, yet the air buzzed with nervous energy. You had all practiced for this moment relentlessly, and now it was finally here—your debut showcase.
You smoothed down your outfit, your fingers trembling slightly. You had never felt so ready, yet so terrified. You stole a glance at Mel, who was adjusting her mic and grinning like this was just another practice session. “You okay,” Mel asked, nudging you gently.
“I think I’m about to throw up,” you admitted with a shaky laugh.
Mel snorted “Don’t you dare. Not in these outfits. You’re gonna be amazing.”
Right on cue, the lights dimmed, the massive LED screens lit up with the group’s logo, and a promotional teaser video played, showcasing their intense training and concept behind their debut.
You stood offstage with your group, your heart hammering in your chest as the intro to your group song began. You looked at your members and nodded, each of them silently reassuring the other. Together you all stepped into the spotlight, the stage exploding with sound.
The music started, and you moved effortlessly into position with your group, your heart racing but your movements steady. The debut stage was every bit of dazzling as you imagined: the flashing spotlights, the booming bass that seemed to shake the air, and the sea of glowing lights from fans cheering for them.
Your voice cut through the instrumental, smooth and powerful as you sang the first verse. Your dance steps were sharp yet fluid, your stage presence magnetic. You waited your whole life, and nothing could break your focus.
Until your eyes scanned the crowd.
In the middle of the second verse, you just got done with your line, staring into the camera. But out of curiosity, you looked down at the front row, your eyes naturally drawn to Jinx’s bright excitable movements. You smiled briefly before turning your gaze to the rest of the audience. That’s when you froze for the briefest of moments.
There, beside Jinx, hidden beneath a hoodie and cap was her.
Vi.

hmm tf2 comic 7 got me feeling things here's a one shot
December 5, 1987
(2.7k wordcount also cross posted to ao3)
December 5, 1987: 5:30 am
On the dot, Spy found his body rousing to awakeness, at the same time and in the same way it had for an irrelevant number of years. He unceremoniously shoved off the thick blanket that he recalled Jeremy had bought on discount several years ago. A small lifetime ago, he might have yearned for the fine silken thing that he’d gifted his son at some point. Now, he was just warm.
There was that one constant, even as his life took him every which way. Up before the team (save for Jane, who was easy to avoid if he pleased). Up before the kids for a moment of peace (though anything was peace to him after it all). Up before Jeremy, to relieve the man (he really was on now, wasn’t he?) of some chores so he could rest just a little while longer. He really did need it nowadays, in his condition.
Before all though, Spy would be afforded a moment to himself.
December 5, 1987: 5:52 am
Currently clocking in at four weeks of continuous residence, Spy had found himself falling into routine. The air was cold and the sky was dark and the flame that lit his cigarette was warm and he was content. The Willis family would enjoy the cozy embrace of sunlight when it came, but this moment would remain his. In this moment, there was nothing to do, and wasn’t that beautiful? He could go about slowly, methodically, knowing that everything was going to turn out just fine.
The sky was lightening. Judging by every other morning he had spent staring at the same sky at the same time, Spy could guess that the sun would be peeking up from behind the neighboring house. As good a queue as any to duck back inside to start the day properly.
December 5, 1987: 6:30 am
The little ones would be getting up one by one, between now and 7:30. Jeremy might get up between 7:30 and 8:00 depending on how his body would decide to treat him that day. Yesterday he seemed more active, so the earlier end of the spectrum was more likely. That gave Spy around an hour of interrupted time to take care of things before Jeremy would be insisting that he could do it himself.
He would start off with breakfast. The kids were always starved first thing in the morning, natural of growing children. Something simple, generally applicable, and all around practical. He went to the cupboard and reached for the oats. Weaning the household off whatever prize-inside cereal their father had the habit of buying was certainly a task. But four weeks of consistent no-budging breakfasts had practically solved that problem, thank god. Now it was just a matter of who took their meal what way, which wasn’t rocket science.
By the time Spy had fetched the oats, milk, and almost brought the water to a full boil, he could hear the squeal of a little voice ricochet from the door, to the hallway, to his ears. That would be little Tammy, no doubt. He killed the heat and followed the sound.
December 5, 1987: 6:42
“Eeek!” Tammy squeaked, and Spy was only a little surprised to find her on top of the dresser thrice her height. To his left, he found the top bunk bed vacant with poor Tommy down below clenching a pillow over his ears to try and get a few more precious moments of shut-eye.
“Quel est le problème?”
A sniff, “Spider! ‘n my bed! Get it off!!”
Well, that was two accounted for, though he didn’t trust Jeremy’s construction skills enough to leave the girl up there for a moment more. In a few strides, Spy’s foot brushed the foot of the dresser, and he extended his arms to the top. When the girl’s squirming jostled it, he opted to plant his hands on either side to stabilize it.
“I’m afraid I will not be taking care of that until you get down from there. Please get down from there, by the way.” and he extended his arms once more. Tammy looked about anxiously, yet ultimately decided to make her way into his waiting arms. Though when Spy went to place her on the floor, he found her limbs wrapped so tightly around his torso that something in his spine might have rearranged itself.
Spy nearly shook her down.
“What if it’s on the floor?” she blubbered. Spy did a once-over.
“It is not.”
“Are- are you sure..?” Spy looked again.
“Oui. Very.” He crouched to the ground, giving Tammy little choice but to part with him. There was no struggle, reassurance a success. “Where did you say it was?” She made a gesture to her own bunk. It was not a very tall one, so he simply leaned over the top and found it completely vacant of creepy crawlies.
It is gone, he would have said, if he was not interrupted by the squeal of another little voice. A foot below, Tommy flailed his arm wildly, and a little something careened and collided with the bedframe. There was the offending spider, all gangly limbs and jerky movements while making a mad dash from the danger, a sight now unfamiliar to Spy. In a swift movement, he had its abdomen pinched between gloved fingers. It wriggled with all its might before he disposed of it in a tissue, and then the wastepaper basket by the door.
“I’m making breakfast. Be ready.” which was only a formality.
December 5, 1987: 6:55
Peace on earth existed for ten minutes each morning, when Spy quietly worked on breakfast while Tanya worked on her book as she waited. Idly, Tanya’s finger toyed with the edge of To Kill a Mockingbird . Parallel to her, Spy fussed between stirring the pot and preparing the mix-ins for each bowl.
A splash of milk in the bowl for Tommy and Tammy, plus a glass for each while he had the jug out. Tammy absolutely refused any large chunks of fruit, so he mashed the handful of blueberries with the back of a fork. For Tommy and himself, he left them whole.
A spoonful of strawberry jam would later turn Todd’s bowl of oatmeal pink, and he knew that would be enough for him. He stirred, it was cooked by now, and filled a couple glasses with water. Heat killed, Spy reached for a little ceramic dish, and then for the highest shelf in the cupboard.
Jeremy’s bowl received a small splash of milk and the faintest drizzle of honey. On the side, a glass of water and a little dish of AM pills. The heart, pain, and renal medication met the bowl with a satisfying clink.
Now that left one bowl.
“Is there anything you’d like?”
“ I’d like to see pa at the table in the morning again, maybe with a side of Tam-Tom being quiet for once?” Spy sighed. Her frustration had only multiplied as the weeks passed, and it seemed she could only catch her father for minutes a day when he wasn’t asleep or when she wasn’t at school. “But I could settle for a nice tall glass o’ make my English teacher stop making us do so much stuff .”
Junior high and an increasingly absent father had been tough on Tanya, but Spy knew she was tougher. The least he could do was make himself an unapologetic ally, listen to her woes whenever she came to him. It had taken them this far, through years of babysitting and now indefinite residence, and he had no intention of stopping now.
“Let me see about that one. Hmm.” Spy made a show of looking through the refrigerator, then the pantry, then the cupboard. “Ahh, I’m afraid I used the last of the ‘quiet kids’ mix last night. As for the ‘lighten the workload juice’, I believe– oh, did you hear that?” Spy noted, in perfect flatness while Tanya was failing to suppress her amusement. In a couple strides, he made it to the door and opened it.
“Now let us see this,” Spy murmured, leafing through the newspaper, serious facade unwavering as he read the headlines aloud. “Unimportant, weather, unimportant again, oh, how interesting…” he peeked up from the page, pleased to see Tanya fully invested in his bit. “This news story, ‘Local English instructor, assassinated!’ No leads, no fingerprints,” he peeled his gloves off and set them down next to the paper, “all classes to be postponed indefinitely!” At this time, Tanya’s book was flat on the table as an unfettered laugh streamed from her lips. Victory.
Spy glanced back down for a quick moment, “Ah, but breakfast is not. What would you like to have, genuine requests only please, unless you’d like to take some plain oats.” After the girl’s laughter had trailed off, she considered, and piped up: “Cinnamon! And brown sugar in it too!” Now that was doable. He was happy to add a dash of cinnamon and a conservative spoonful of sugar to her immediate chagrin.
“What, that’s nuthin’! You could’nt’a added a little more?” She pouted. “Non, I’m not in the habit of serving sweets in the morning.” which earned him a melodramatic slump from her. He sighed. Spy was becoming weak in his old age. “And I will remain firm in my decision. Oh. What is this. It looks like the oatmeal is ready to plate. I will now turn around, and since this matter is so urgent, I will leave the spoon in the sugar.” Which wasn’t entirely a joke.
December 5, 1987: 7:13
“Can we go watch cartoons?”
“Yes-”
“Can we go now?”
“Have you finished your breakfast?”
“No-”
“Non.”
“But you said-”
“I would have said yes, when you finish eating.”
“Why?”
“You could tip your bowl on the couch, and I won’t clean it up.”
Todd conceded, and switched tactics to shoveling as many oats as he could eat at once. On the other side of the table, Tommy was falling asleep into his bowl while Tammy went on about nothing entirely discernible. Tanya, thank god, was taking care of the cleanup. Spy had already cleared his ingredients, so there were only the dishes to attend to. First the cooking pot, followed in quick succession by the first two bowls. She had to scrape bits of residual mush from Tommy’s bowl, but Todd and Tammy had practically cleaned theirs for her.
And then.
“Pa’s stuff’s gonna be cold…” Tanya muttered, looking at the last dish. Spy cautioned a glance behind him, the kid in a clear struggle of indecision. He came to meet her, true to her words his fingers met a bowl barely above body temperature. Hmm. “I guess I will just have to bring it right away.”
He got to go, at which point Tanya wasted no time taking the glass of water and dish of medicine. “I got it, don’t worry!” She said, as though she needed an excuse. Spy let it happen. They made their way down the hallway, which he couldn’t help observing each time he walked down it. Dozens of frames lined the walls, little snapshots of their lives slowly connecting. There were most of the kids by far, and the stark contrast between the pigtailed toddler to the young woman before him might have given him whiplash so bad he would have dropped the water if he was the one holding it.
He was forever grateful that Jeremy had taken so many pictures of all of the children, it filled in the seven year gap, and when he looked at them it was like he hadn’t missed a moment. Of course, pictures couldn’t compare with memories, but it was another thing entirely when they coincided. Todd’s smile of pride as he correctly guessed 1,782 jellybeans was just as infectious as that day.
Naturally there were plenty of pictures of Jermey, granted, less pale.
They made it to his door, and Spy turned the knob with his free hand. The bedroom was spacious, and the bed was too large for one. There were even more pictures, of Jeremy himself, of his mother, of him, of his friends, of his children most of all. A picture of Jeremy from his mercenary days was accompanied by a clock which read 7:22, and a tear-away calendar which read December 4, 1987. The practical decor clashed with the seven Tom Jones posters, but whatever made him happy, Spy told himself.
Right now though, he was laid on his side tangled up in some sheets. It seemed that he didn’t hear the door open.
“Jeremy?” “Pa?”
Spy set down the bowl on the nightstand, and Tanya mirrored his movement. He would have to be woken up, it seemed. She looked near ready to do it herself, but it had been too many times that Spy had to remind her to be gentle. He would have to do it himself.
Spy sat on the vacant side of the bed, the one that might have been occupied by a spouse if that sort of love decided to stay with him. “Jeremy,” he repeated, to no response. In perfect carefulness, he connected his hand with the once sticking out of the bedding, perhaps the tactile input would rouse him like several mornings before.
A backstabbed Sniper on his shoulder. The gibs of teammates fallen to an enemy Demo. Gray Mann. Years of mercenary work. Jeremy fourteen years ago, still moving, that slowed in his arms. A coldness and a stiffness that could never be mistaken was found in his son’s hand.
A tiny squeak behind him. Tanya, clever and perceptive Tanya. Why did she have to come?
“Is he okay..?” and the wavering of her little voice near made Spy lose composure entirely.
“I believe he has a fever.” he decided, and pressed a palm to his frigid face. “Merci, Tanya, but I would not want you to become ill as well.”
“What about you?”
“Please, you had better worry about your siblings instead. Make sure they have not destroyed the living room. Leave your father to me, yes?” Tanya, in her childish trust, only looked once over her shoulder as she walked out the door.
December 5, 1987: 7:51
“My friend, you must remember that Herr Mundy’s case was a very special one–I had begun work almost immediately, a near infinite budget, all necessary parts on hand, a fully stocked infirmary–even if I flew out this very minute I doubt I could replicate my results.”
“I understand.”
“Do you really?”
“I understand.”
“I am very sorry.”
“I understand.”
The telephone slotted neatly back in place. The room was cold. The bowl was cold. The bed was cold, except for the part Spy was sitting. The blanket cast aside when he searched for any sign of life certainly was not doing Jeremy any favors. That would never do.
With the fabric draped over him, he could pretend. Pretend that he was the grandfather when Tommy and Tammy played house. Pretend that he hadn’t seen the effects of gravity pooling blood to the parts of Jeremy’s body that rested against the mattress.
A mad giggle and excited squeal from across the hall. What was the game of choice this week again?
“Boom!” Todd shouted. Right. This week they were outlaws in the southwest, two against two.
“Wait, what town isn’t big enough for both of us?” Tommy scratched his head. He always preferred a more thorough worldbuilding in his pretend play.
“How about…” Todd fiddled with his toy sword, “Teufort New Mexico! Y’know, like the place on papa’s mail!” At that point, he charged right for his brother, who jumped a foot in the air.
That day, Spy recalled, Jeremy was busy in the kitchen fixing himself another cup of coffee, but was quick to join in the fun.
Spy had lingered alone in the room long enough, he decided. The little ones would soon look for a new playmate, and perhaps he could distract them from the fact that he was the only one who could.
