______
“Mr. Ackles,” you smirked as he wandered up to the counter with a big smile. “I thought you told me not to sell you anymore donuts. I thought you were slimming down for your next role.”
“Oh, I never said such a thing,” he smirked. “You got any of those maple cinnamon creme filled ones left?”
“Looks like we got one left,” you said. He set his starbucks cup and sunglasses down on the counter and pulled out his wallet. “Anything else?”
“Yeah. I’ll take a butterscotch for De and a dozen of the minis for the kiddos,” he said.
“Anything in particular?” you asked as you started to put together his order.
“Surprise me,” he said.
“I’ll go with glazed and chocolate to be safe,” you said. You set the bag and box down, ringing him up. “Oh and I gotta say, I really liked the new album. You guys were really good.”
“Well thank you very much, Y/N,” he smiled. He stuffed a big tip in the jar like he always did and you gave him a look. “Oh I know you saved that donut for me. Don’t pretend.”
“The fact you come in here every single Thursday at 10:07 in the morning when you’re not working and order the same donut every single time? Oh I don’t know who thought to do that,” you said.
“Mhm. See ya next week, kid,” he said as he headed out.
“Bye, Mr. Ackles,” you said. You saw your manager give you a side eye and you pouted.
“I thought I told you to stop bothering him,” she said.
“He’s nice. It’s a small place. He comes in every week,” you said. She took the money out of the tip jar and shoved it in her pockets. You sighed and heard the door open again, Jensen shaking his head.
“Sorry, left my sunglasses,” he said. He picked them up and paused, staring at the jar. “I just put twenty dollars in there.”
You looked at your manager and she pretended to have to go sign for something. You wiped down the counter and saw him still standing there.
“Can I get you anything else?” you asked. You straightened up and his lip was pursed.
“Does your boss take your tips?” he asked.
“We pool tips here, Mr. Ackles. You know that,” you said.
“Yeah but you make minimum wage. She doesn’t. Does your boss take a cut of the tips?” he asked. You didn’t say anything but apparently you did. He grumbled and pulled out a twenty, sliding it across the counter. “That’s yours, not hers. While I’m at it, I’m gonna say what I’ve been thinking for like, the entire time you’ve waited on me and just go to school. You are way too smart to be working a job like this the rest of your life.”
“Mr. Ackles you don’t-”
“You don’t ring people up. You do the math in your head. You always give me a total before it pops up on the screen. You got a brain. Use it for something better than this, kid,” he said.
“Not everyone is fortunate enough to do that,” you said.
“How old are you?” he asked.
“Twenty two,” you said.
“You got a car?” he asked.
“Yeah?” you said.
“Congratulations. You’re the newest bartender at my brewery. Starts at fifteen bucks an hour,” he said.
“Is that in the morning?” you asked.
“It’s probably evenings, afternoons. Why?” he asked.
“I have another job,” you said. “I can’t work later than noon.”
“You can work in the brewery in the morning then. We got a deal?” he asked. You nodded and he pulled a card out of his wallet. “Call me when you’re done with work today and we’ll get you set up, okay?”
“Thank you. This is gonna help so much,” you said. He smiled and nodded.
“Just hang in there for now. It’ll get better.”
Three Weeks Later
“Good morning,” you heard as you dropped a sack on the floor. You were panting and sweaty, Jensen smiling as he saw you. “Whoa, what are you doing moving those by yourself.”
“My boss said they need to get moved. I was getting started without him was all,” you said.
“Okay your boss is my business partner so I’m like your boss too and no we do not move seventy pound bags by ourselves, understand?” he asked.
“Sorry,” you said, wiping your hand over your face.
“Are you okay?” he asked. “It’s just a bag on the floor.”
“Yeah. I just don’t want to screw this up,” you said. “I really need the money.”
“Well relax. It’s only your second week,” he said. You nodded and he squatted down, hoisting the bag over his shoulder. He walked it over to where they were being moved and tossed it down. “Come here.”
You scurried over and he crossed his arms, looking back at the pallet of raw hops and the bag by his feet.
“Figure out how to make this more efficient,” he said.
“What?”
“I didn’t hire you because I felt sorry for you and I didn’t do it because you’re stronger than the grown men here. You got a brain and I want you to use it. Figure out a way to make this process better. Tell your boss when you got something,” he said.
“Yes sir,” you said.
“None of that sir shit, kid. Just Jensen, okay?”
“Yeah, sorry,” you said. He rolled his eyes and walked away, a pit forming in your stomach. You were so getting fired. You should have just sucked it up and stayed at the donut shop. You’d quit there and your pizza shop job went away when they closed up last week. You knew you could squeak by until you found another part time job. “Jensen?”
He spun around halfway across the room and you swallowed.
“I’m available in the evenings now. I can bartend too if you still need that,” you said.
“I can give you two shifts a week. Same pay. That work?” he asked.
“Yes that’s great,” you said.
“Good. Figure out the bags, Y/N,” he said before he went off. You felt a little better at least. You stared at the bags and pallet, trying to figure out the best way to get the bags over with all of the equipment in the way.
One Hour Later
“So you figured it out,” said Jensen with a knowing smile after you’d told him about your idea to use the forklift to drive around outside and then back in through the other smaller door to bring the bags over to the other side of the equipment. “Took a little longer than I was expecting.”
You frowned and he chuckled.
“Relax. It was a test,” he said.
“A test?” you said and he hummed. “For what?”
“I think your talents would be better suited for stocking management at the moment. You’re gonna track orders as they come in, manage storage, help the workflow stay on track. Sound good?” he asked.
“Yes. Definitely,” you said.
“People are around to help but I think you’ll do just fine,” he said. “I gotta run. Don’t forget to take a lunch break at some point.”
“Jensen. Thanks for the job. Really,” you said.
“You go to college and then you can thank me,” he said. “See you around, kid.”
One Month Later
“Mmm,” you hummed at the end of your shift tending bar. You were sipping on a can of beer and eating a slice of pizza on the quiet patio, a few people finishing up with their drinks before the place closed up for the night.
“Excuse me,” said an older man, probably in his fifties. You stopped mid-chew and he put on a friendly smile. “I’m sorry to bother you. You just look a lot like someone I know. Well I didn’t know her but…”
“Howdy,” said Jensen as he wandered out from the taproom. It wasn’t lost on anyone how he put himself between you and the man. “Enjoying your night sir?”
“Yes. I was just chatting to the young lady here. I thought I knew her from somewhere…” he trailed off. Jensen looked back at you and you swallowed down the pizza in your mouth.
“She must have one of those faces,” he said. “We’re closing up for the night soon sir.”
“I’m not trying to bother her,” he said.
“I know you’re not,” said Jensen. The man didn’t leave though and he stiffened up. “Sir. The young lady doesn’t want to talk to you. She doesn’t know you. Please return to your table.”
“I do know her though,” he said.
“I’m sorry, I don’t…” you said.
“Y/N, go inside,” said Jensen.
“Okay, this is a very awkward situation. But I need to talk to her in private,” said the man. Jensen chuckled but you heard the dark edge to it.
“I need you to leave,” said Jensen.
“I’m a cop.”
“I don’t care if you’re the Easter bunny. You are making my employee uncomfortable,” said Jensen. The man stared at him and then you. Jensen grabbed your arm and started walking inside with you when the man grabbed your hand. “Get your fucking hands off-”
“Y/N, I know your mom,” he said. Jensen kept pulling on you but you shook him off.
“You’re a cop?” you asked as he nodded.
“You’re Y/N, aren’t you,” he said.
“What the fuck is going on?” asked Jensen.
“Y/N, sweetie, we need to call up the Dallas police department right now. There are things you need to know.”
“Things like what?”
Four Hours Later
“Hey kid,” said Jensen as you sat at a conference table in a police station. You stared blankly at the shut file, Jensen setting a candy bar down in front of you. “Didn’t know if you were a chocolate kinda chick.”
“Thank you Jensen,” you said quietly. You didn’t touch it and he bumped your arm.
“You okay?” he asked.
“No,” you said. “Thank you for coming with me to the station and staying. You didn’t have to do that.”
“Yeah well no offense but I was serious about what I said. I wasn’t leaving you alone with some random dude,” he said. “Eat something.”
“I thought I had shitty parents before,” you laughed. “Turns out they fucking killed my mom and took her toddler and pretended I was theirs. What the fuck.”
“I’m not going to pretend to know how you remotely feel right now,” he said. “It’s fucked up. It’s so fucked up.”
“I know,” you said as a detective came in.
“Y/N, this is the file we worked up on your mom,” he said. He opened a page and you saw Jensen stand out of the corner of your eye.
“That’s her mother?” he said.
“Abigail Leandry? Yes,” said the detective. Jensen shook his head. “Mr. Ackles, what-”
“Kayla. Kayla,” he said.
“Mr. Ackles, why do you know the deceased’s middle name?” asked the detective. Jensen was practically white now and you stood up, holding onto him.
“Did you know my mom?” you asked. “Jensen, did you know her?”
“Who’s her father?” asked Jensen.
“There’s no father on record. Mr. Ackles are you-” said the detective as Jensen ran his hand over his face. “What is your relation to the victim, Mr. Ackles?”
“I had a one night stand when I was twenty years old,” he said as he looked at you. “She said her name was Kayla.”
“What?” you said. The detective looked at the both of you and stood up. “Where are you going?”
“I think we need to do a paternity test as soon as possible.”
Two Hours Later
“I…” started Jensen for the fifth time as you sat in his passenger seat. You stared at the dashboard, Jensen opening his mouth again. “Y/N...if I knew…”
“I know,” you said. “Can you drive me back to my car now. I want to go home. It’s been a long day.”
“It’s after midnight. Why don’t I drop you off and we can swing by to get your car in the morning,” he said.
“Whatever.” You rested your head on the glass and shut your eyes. He started the truck but it didn’t move.
“We used protection. I wasn’t…” he said.
“It’s not a guarantee. Dude, you’re my dad. Whatever. Just take me home. Please,” you said.
“Where do you live,” he asked quietly. You gave him the address and twenty minutes later you were outside of your apartment, Jensen looking around. You put a hand on the door and he sighed. “Wait.”
“Jensen, I’m tired.”
“I know. I’m about to have a very fun time telling my wife about this. I just...this is not a safe neighborhood for a young woman to live alone in,” he said. “There’s stabbings and shootings around here all the time.”
“I grew up with methhead parents. That was kind of par for the course,” you said.
“I’m a stranger. I understand. Would you consider…” he said and you opened the door.
“I’m fine, Jensen. Go home. You have a long night still,” you said.
“I’ll pick you up at nine,” he said. You hummed and he leaned over. “Wait. Can I have your number?”
You gave him your phone and he put yours in his before putting his in yours and handing it back.
“Hey,” he said as you started to head inside. You groaned and turned around. He took a deep breath and swallowed. “I’m sorry.”
“Goodnight, Jensen,” you said. You went inside your unit before he could say anything else and locked the door shut. You wandered into the kitchen and opened the fridge, nothing in there but a six pack of beer from the brewery. You shook your head and looked in the cabinet, half a bottle of vodka still there. You took it out and poured yourself a glass, wincing as you drank it down.
Maybe you’d be lucky enough to wake up in the morning and find out it was all a nightmare.
“Y/N,” said Jensen as you started work the next morning. You saw Danneel talking with her brother across the room, both of them glancing at you. “Can we talk?”
You nodded and he wandered out back to the employee area, taking a seat at a picnic table. You sat across from him, Jensen bouncing his leg like crazy.
“I thought I should at least tell you...I met Kayla at a club when I was twenty. I was home visiting family and went out with some friends. She was from Houston. We talked, flirted a bit, she was...forward with what she was interested in and being young and stupid like I was, I felt as though I should have at least one one-night stand in my life. I wasn’t...comfortable with it at first but it happened. We used protection and I left and I never really thought of her ever again. Until now obviously.”
“What’s your point, Jensen?” you asked. He bit his bottom lip and stilled his leg.
“We both learned some things last night. We know your mom got involved with drugs. We know that’s why she was killed. The people that raised you probably did it. She has no family left. The people that took you weren’t good and they’re dead and you have no family out there, anywhere. I know you were in a group home when you were sixteen after they died. I know you bounced around a bit and wound up in foster care until you aged out last year. I know your home isn’t safe and your car is older than you.”
“Jensen.”
“I’d like the chance to give you a real dad. I’d like to be there for you the way I should have always been. De and I both do. We can give you everything you need or want,” he said.
“I understand,” you said. He smiled and you rolled your eyes. “This would look horrible for you if it got out that you have some stray, wouldn’t it. Your grand idea is to pay me off?”
“What?” he asked and you stood up. “Y/N, that’s not-”
“I did just fine my whole life without a real dad. I don’t need one now,” you said. You headed back towards the entrance and he caught up to you grabbing your shoulder.
“Stop. Wait a second. I-” he said as you spun around.
“Leave me alone. I shouldn’t even exist. I will do just fine without you like I always have.” You started walking again and headed to your car, sliding behind the wheel before you knew it. You drove home and sat in your apartment, expecting a call that you’d been fired.
Five minutes after being home you heard a car pull up out front. The doorbell rang and you ignored it. A text came in on your phone which you also promptly ignored.
“Y/N. It’s Jensen,” he said as he knocked on the door. “Kid, I...we don’t gotta be the fucking Brady Bunch. You don’t have to do anything. Just let me try. I’ll do all the work, I swear. I just...I just gotta know you’re okay. I know you’re not. This is so fucked up. You should have had a better life. You should have had me. I would have stopped you from living through all the shit you have. I’m sorry this happened to you.”
You stared at the door and pursed your lips.
“I want to know my daughter. I want to be part of her life. I don’t want to hide you from anyone,” he said. “Let me give you what you deserve.”
You walked over and slowly opened the door, Jensen wearing a worried smile.
“I’m not calling you dad.”
“You don’t have to,” he chuckled. “Can I come in?”
You swung the door open wider and he stepped past you, pausing in the hall as you closed up behind him.
“You live here?” he asked.
“No, I stay here for shits and giggles. Yes I live here,” you said. He stepped past the kitchen and into your family room where you took a seat on the old couch, Jensen spinning around. “Yeah, it’s shitty. I get it.”
“I’m pretty sure it’s in violation of health codes,” he said. He took a seat on the couch and made a face. “Can I push my luck and convince you to move out of here?”
“I don’t need charity, Jensen. You’ve given me enough already,” you said.
“Parents put a roof over their kids' heads. I’m a few years late so sue me but we gotta get you somewhere better than this,” he said.
“I drink. I swear. I walk around in my underwear and I have adult friends sleepover so there’s no way in hell I’m moving in with you.”
“I have a guest house,” he said. “It’s private. You’re not a child and I’ll do my best to not treat you like one. But it’s safe and nice and you can have your own space...just forty feet from where I live is all.”
You crossed your arms and he put on a pair of sad eyes.
“You’re milking it a bit don’t you think,” you said.
“I’m not acting,” he said. “I’ll leave you alone if that’s what you want. I’ll give you money for food and gas and pay for the rest if you don’t want to talk to me. Just give me this. Let me get you out of this shithole.”
“I don’t need saving.”
“I didn’t say I was going to save you. I want to protect you. There’s a difference.”
He set a hand on his leg, turning it palm up. You watched it and after a moment set your hand in his.
“Don’t fuck me over,” you said.
“Not gonna happen,” he said. “Why don’t we run to the store to get some boxes and we can pack up your stuff?”
An hour later you were following Jensen in your car down the driveway of a very nice house. You parked behind him and got out, staring at it and the yard and turning your head to see the multiple cars in his garage.
“Y/N,” said Jensen. He was standing closer, giving you a smile. “We can move the boxes in a minute. Why don’t I show you the guest house first?”
“Okay,” you said. You followed him around a path that went behind the garage, a two story building back there.
“It’s only one bedroom. But it’s got it’s own office on the first floor,” he said. “It’s not that big. You can always stay in the house with the rest of us if you change your mind but I understand wanting your privacy.”
He unlocked the door and you stepped inside, Jensen mentioning something about dust but you were still floored by how nice it was. The kitchen was beautiful and open to the family room. The large wood dining table sat in a cute breakfast nook. There was a fireplace and big windows with a staircase in the back heading up to a second floor.
“...I know it’s a bit plain,” he said and you turned your head, Jensen smiling back at him. “You haven’t heard a word I said, have you.”
“This is too nice. Jensen this is way too nice. I gotta pay you rent for-” you said but he shook his head. “Jensen.”
“I have some contingencies for you staying here. You follow those and I’ll pay for this place and your food and gas. Okay?” he asked.
“What are they?” you asked.
“No big parties. You want to have something small that’s fine but no big blowouts,” he said.
“Do I look like I have a lot of friends?” you asked.
“I want you to go to school. You can keep your job at the brewery but you’re gonna go to school. I will pay for it but I want you to have an education.”
You pursed your lips but nodded.
“I’m getting you a new car, one much safer. Lastly, if you see the kids, please try not to swear in front of them. They’re young and we do our best to not do that around them,” he said.
“Fine,” you said. “Don’t expect me to start having big family dinners or that kind of thing.”
“I understand. I’ll move the boxes and um, maybe you can make up a list of things you need for me to get at the store.”
“I have everything I need in the boxes,” you said.
“You have one pan and like three plates,” he said.
“Yeah?” you asked.
“Y/N, that’s not normal.”
“You realize this isn’t normal right?” you said as you looked around.
“If you change your mind...I’m gonna get your things, let you unpack,” he said. He left and ten minutes later you had four boxes by the door, Jensen excusing himself away. You unpacked your kitchen items, knowing he might have had a point. But he was buying absolutely everything for you and it was a little ridiculous.
You took your bag of clothes upstairs, swallowing when you saw the bedroom and bathroom up there. It was like it was out of a magazine. There was even a small balcony off the room. You stepped out and looked around at a yard and saw a pool off in the distance.
There was no way in Hell you belonged in a place like that.
That Evening
You were cooking dinner for yourself with the over abundance of groceries Jensen had left at the door earlier when you heard a knock. You moved the pan off the heat and opened up, Jensen standing there with a smile.
“Can I help you?” you asked.
“We’re about to have dinner if you’d like to join us,” he said.
“You said I don’t have to talk to anyone if I don’t want to.”
“I know. I just wanted to offer. It’s your first...are you cooking?” he asked as he saw into the kitchen.
“Yes. I appreciate the offer but no thank you,” you said.
“I literally just gave you some extra pantry staples for the night before I can run to the store in the morning. You’re making dinner out of that stuff?” he asked.
“Yes?” you said. “You gave me pasta and olive oil. I will survive for the night.”
“You’re making pasta in a pan?” he asked.
“Yes. You put water in the pan and put in some pasta. It’s like magic,” you said.
“Alright. I’ll see you in the morning then,” he said. You shut the door on him and went back to the stove. You stared at the messy pan and turned the stove off. You sat down on the couch with your head in your hands.
He had never, never been anything but nice to you when you were a complete stranger. Of course he was going to go overboard since he found out you were his kid. You were being bitchy for no reason and he was still being nice.
There was a knock at the door but you saw him walk past the window. You got up and opened the door, a large pot sitting on the small bench by the door. He was halfway across the grass and you swallowed.
“Jensen?” you called out. He spun around and smiled.
“Keep it,” he said.
“What...what are you having? For dinner?”
“Pork roast with mashed sweet potatoes and roasted veggies. S’pretty good,” he said. “We got ice cream for dessert.”
You bit your bottom lip and he walked over to you, frowning as he stared down.
“I don’t blame you for not having much faith in people or being cautious of me. I really don’t. But I am your dad and you are my daughter. To you that means nothing. I understand. But you’re one of the most important things in my life now. It can be one sided if you want that. It can be that simple if you want that. Like I said, you can ignore me the rest of my life if you want and I would never blame you. But I can give you more than a place to stay and money. There’s shit a lot more important than those things. You can have it if you want it. Just come on inside if you decide you do.”
You crossed your arms and looked down. He didn’t leave yet and you took a few deep breaths.
“I’ve never really trusted anyone before,” you said. “I’m not...I do want a family, Jensen. I do. But my life isn’t like this. I dropped out of high school and got a GED. I have hookups most nights. I’m probably going to get pregnant, marry the guy, have another kid, get divorced, live in a small old apartment while working two jobs and that’s my life. That’s gonna be life, Jensen. I’ve known that’s gonna be my life since I was a kid. I don’t have goals or dreams. I’m just here because you feel guilty and I can take advantage of that right now. I’m gonna push back and push back until you throw me out or I leave because I’m not gonna trust you. I’m never going to trust you, Jensen. You don’t have to feel bad about this situation. You don’t. You did nothing wrong. I’m not supposed to even be here. I think it’s better if you just gave me some money and I’ll leave and you never have to think about me ever again.”
“I’m gonna think about you everyday for the rest of my life,” he said. “You deserve a better life than what you described. You deserve a good job and to fall in love and have children because you want to. I want you, Y/N not out of guilt. I only feel guilty I wasn’t there for you. I want you because you’re my daughter and I love you. It’s all there is to it.”
You sighed and heard thunder in the distance.
“You can stay in the house. You can live with us. We’d love it if you did,” he said. You looked back at the guest house. For the first time you noticed the bags of concrete stacked up on the side.
“You were gonna tear it down, weren’t you,” you said.
“We didn’t need it. It was gonna be an extra garage space. But that’s-”
“Will I have my own room?” you asked quietly. “In the house.”
“Yes. Your own room, bathroom, big closet. Your own part of the house.”
“...How do I know you’re telling the truth?” you asked.
“You don’t. Have dinner with us. Talk to your siblings. Maybe they can give you some insight,” he said. You walked past him as a light rain came down, Jensen showing you in the back door and up a set of stairs. There were a pair of toddlers at a table, an older girl in the kitchen with Danneel as they dished up some plates. “Y/N’s going to join us.”
“That’s great,” said Danneel as she handed the girl a plate. “JJ, would you give that to Y/N and get her some silverware?”
“Sure,” she said. She walked over to you and you took the plate. “Are you mom and dad’s friend?”
“She’s your sister,” said Jensen as he helped in the kitchen. He put down a glass at an empty chair and you took a seat, JJ returning quickly with a fork and knife.
“You’re kinda old,” she said as she set them down.
“You’re kinda short,” you said.
“Am not,” she said as she went to her seat.
“Yeah you are,” said the littlest girl. Jensen had brought her in to get donuts a few times and you saw her recognize you. “Hi!”
“Hi Arrow,” you said with a smile.
“JJ, Arrow, Zepp,” said Jensen as he leaned over the back of her chair and poured a glass of water for you from the carafe. “This is Y/N and she’s gonna be around quite a bit more we hope.”
“Okay. Who’s your favorite princess?” asked Arrow.
“Hm. That’s a tough one. I don’t know if she qualifies as a princess but I always liked Rapunzel,” you said as Jensen and Danneel carried over their plates. “Who’s your favorite?”
An hour later you were still discussing Disney characters with the kids, Jensen scooping up the twins under each arm.
“Daddy,” groaned Zeppelin as he was spun upside down. “We were playing.”
“You two and your sister need baths, stinkers, and then a bedtime story. How’s that sound?” he asked.
“Can Y/N read it?” he asked as he looked at you.
“Sure,” you said.
“Yay!” he said.
“We’ll be about half an hour with these guys. If you want to come up I can show you your space,” said Jensen. You nodded and followed them all upstairs. Danneel went off with JJ down a hall, Jensen nodding towards one end. “That’s me and De over there. Kids are down that hall and the guest suite and loft is to the right.”
“Thanks,” you said. You wandered down the hall and found a large open space with a couch and TV, more of an adult hang out space from the looks of it. There was a door nearby and you opened it, walking into a large bedroom with a canopy bed. “Holy shit.”
It was nicer than the guest house and you walked around, stepping into a beautiful on suite bathroom with double vanities, a separate shower and a giant ass tub. The walk in closet was huge and you were absolutely in love with the wide window bench and bookcases.
“Hey,” said Jensen behind you. You spun around and saw him sporting a partially wet shirt. “You like it?”
“It’s warm,” you said.
“Well feel free to move some clothes and stuff in for the night. There’s a few raincoats in the front hall closet downstairs. I gotta try and get these three washed before the storm hits,” he said.
“It’s no problem,” you said. He smiled and started to leave when you took a step forward. “Jensen?”
“Yeah?”
“I’m sorry about before, how I acted and what I said. No one’s ever taken care of me and not wanted something in return,” you said.
“Apology accepted. All I will ever want is you to be happy. We’ll get there eventually,” he said. He left and after exploring the room for a few more minutes, you took a raincoat from the front closet and went outside, packing up most of your things and bringing them up to your new room. You’d just set a box down when a toddler in a pair up pull ups ran into your room.
“Y/N, can I have a story now?” asked Zeppelin.
“Zepp...Zeppy…” you heard Jensen call from somewhere else.
“You wanna show me your room and then I can tell you a story?” you asked. He grabbed your hand and pulled you out, Jensen sighing as he found you in the hall. “I got him.”
“Well someone needs his pajamas on,” said Jensen. Zeppelin grumbled but he did tug on his shirt at least once you were in his room. Jensen tugged his pants on and Zeppelin rushed over to his bookcase, picking out one and handing it to you. He crawled up in bed and you sat on the stool nearby, reading and showing him the pages for about ten minutes before you watched him close his eyes and huff quietly.
“Night, little guy,” you said. You put the book on his nightstand and set the stool back. Jensen smiled and flicked the light off by the door, a nightlight keeping the space dimly lit. He shut the door and you were quiet as you saw Danneel duck out of a room. He nodded and you followed the two of them to the loft area, taking a seat on the end of the couch as he settled into a chair, Danneel sitting close by.
“I think Zepp’s a fan,” she said with a smile. “I think they all are.”
“Kids don’t tend to be the problem in these situations,” you said. You looked at her and she nodded. “Are you...okay-”
“I would much rather have you stay in this house than out there by yourself. You’ve been on your own enough,” she said.
“What was your reaction?” you asked as you quickly glanced to Jensen.
“A bit of shock. But I saw the test results and he has…” she said, Jensen nodding. “He mentioned once when you first started working at the brewery about feeling protective of you. We both assumed it was because you were young and on your own and trying to get by. I’ve never been quite that bad but when he first started out after he left home, things were tight for him. We understand struggling a bit. Not to the same extent as you obviously but we get it. Now with what you know, I think there was some paternal instinct coming out he didn’t quite see.”
“In my experience, parents aren’t good things. My life got better after them,” you said. But I’m willing to try if he is.”
“All of us will,” said Jensen. “It’ll take time which will be the hard part probably but if you allow us, we can be parents to you too. We won’t make rules for you. You’re an adult and we’ll treat you like one. But we’ll treat you like our child too. De and I will probably screw that up sometimes so all I ask is that you let us slip up from time to time and hopefully this can turn out the way we hope it does.”
“Do I have to go to college?” you asked. Jensen glanced to Danneel and back at you. “I don’t have the best grades and I literally dropped out my senior year. Does a community college even take a GED?”
“I was thinking more like UT,” he said. You laughed and he raised an eyebrow.
“You’re serious? I didn’t even take SATs or ACTs or…” you trailed off as you turned to Danneel who shrugged. “I can’t.”
“Yes you can.”
“No, I can’t,” you scoffed. You gripped the corner of the armchair and he sighed. “I can’t-”
“Shh,” he said as he got up. He squatted down in front of you and smiled. “Don’t be scared. We’ll figure it out together, all of us. That room over there? That is your bedroom now and no one will ever kick you out of it. I don’t want you leaving until you’re ready and I think we all know you’re a long way away from that. I believe you can go to school and do anything you want to. I’ll believe for the both of us right now, okay?”
“I’m too stupid. I don’t fit in aside from with sleazy guys,” you said.
“I disagree with that,” he said. “Trust me?”
You sighed but gave him a nod.
“I know it’s been a long day and you didn’t get a lot of sleep last night but there is a bowl of ice cream downstairs with your name on it if you’re interested,” he said.
“Maybe. I’d like to wash up,” you said. “I know today was kind of busy but I still have work in the morning right?”
“Don’t worry about work right now. We go it covered,” said Danneel. “I can show you where stuff is in your bathroom.”
You swallowed but nodded, following her back into your room and the bathroom. A part of you was expecting her to say something about wanting you gone. After all you technically weren’t hers. You were barely Jensen’s.
“There’s a bunch of stuff like soap and shampoo and that kind of stuff in here,” she said, opening up a tall cabinet door. “Towels are up top. There’s not a hair dryer in here but I can just drop mine off outside on your bed if you want?”
“Air dry is fine,” you said quietly.
“Honestly I do the same most of the time,” she said. “There are some pads and tampons under the sink but I gotta run to a few stores in the morning anyways so maybe you can come with and we can get whatever brand you like.”
“I don’t…” you said as she cocked her head. “I get all my supplies from a free clinic. I can’t...I couldn’t afford that brand name stuff before.”
“Oh,” she said. She made a strange face and shook her head. “Well we can try them out until we find one you like.”
“Okay,” you said.
“If you need anything just let me know,” she said. She walked past you but you heard her pause in the doorway. “Y/N a bit of advice.”
You turned around and waited for her to drop the nice act.
“Yeah?”
“Stay away from sleazy guys. They just want sex. They don’t care about you.”
“I know that.”
“Then do me a favor and the next time you spend the night with a guy, do it cause you feel a connection with him. There’s a difference.”
“I get that too.”
“Then why sleep around?”
“Because I’ll take a fake connection over no connection.”
“You don’t need a man to be happy,” she said. “Jensen and I spend a lot of time apart.”
“What is your point?” you sighed.
“Don’t fuck random guys cause you’re lonely. You might not realize this yet but you’re never gonna be alone ever again. Get used to us cause you’re fucking ours and we want better for you than a random fuck. You got that?”
“You don’t talk to me the way Jensen does,” you said quietly.
“Because he’s in pain right now and he is so scared of setting you off. I on the other hand know what it’s like to be a young woman. I won’t tell you not to have your fun. But have it with somebody special. Good guys do exist. Good dads exist. He’s not gonna hurt you. You said you’d try out there so please try.”
“Do you wish I would go?”
“I wish someday you realize what a silly question that is to be asking,” she said. “I might barely be old enough to be your mother but you didn’t just get a dad with this. You have him and you have me and three half-siblings and a whole shitload of other people. So the next time you’re lonely, you come to one of us and maybe the next guy you sleep with you can do it cause he’s a good guy. Understand?”
“Yes,” you said. She nodded and started to leave when you cleared your throat. “Danneel?”
“Yeah?” she asked as she turned around.
“Where do you meet nice guys? I haven’t had much luck,” you said.
“You’re young. Don’t worry about it, sweetie,” she said as some thunder shook the house. “Wash up at the sink. Jensen gets a wee paranoid about showers in thunderstorms.”
“I’m the same way,” you said.
“You two must be related or something,” she smirked.
“Seriously,” you said.
“Aw, you got his bitch face too,” she laughed. “Come down when you’re ready. We’ll save you some ice cream.”
“Thanks,” you said. She shut the bedroom door after herself and you took out a few things from the cabinet along with what you’d brought along. Fifteen minutes later your face was washed and you’d changed into pajamas, a pair of old sweatpants and a free shirt you’d gotten from the brewery. You threw your hair up in a bun and took a deep breath.
You wandered out of the room and down the hall, getting mixed up for a moment before you found the stairs down. Danneel was sitting on the countertop with a bowl in her hand, Jensen busy decorating his own with crumbled up cookies.
“Hey,” he said. He slid the bowl across the counter and stuck a spoon in it. “Prepare to be amazed.”
“Mhm,” you said. You scooped up a spoonful and took a bite, tilting your head. “Is that...whiskey?”
“Just a smidge. That, vanilla ice cream and some cookies on top? So good,” he said as he started to make himself a bowl. “We were away once back in De’s neck of the woods and had it at dinner once. Obviously my version is superior…” he said as he got a whack from Danneel. “It’s a pretty good knock off.”
“Jensen always manages to pick out the best desserts. Meanwhile I always pick the weird ones,” she laughed.
“Oh next time we’re in New York we gotta take her to that hole in the wall place,” said Jensen.
“New York City?” you asked.
“Mhm,” he hummed. You sat up on the counter across from Danneel and sucked on your spoon, Jensen taking a spot near you when he’d finished. “How’d you end up down here. You were in Dallas up until last year weren’t you.”
“Yeah. A couple friends were gonna move down here so I went with them. I thought a new place might be good for me. They turned out to not be great friends so I wound up in an assisted place,” you said.
“Well I’m glad you came,” he said. “You been a lot of places yet?”
“Not really,” you said.
“You ever been to Franklin’s?” asked Danneel. “The barbecue place?”
“I’ve never been out to eat,” you said.
“Ever?” she asked.
“Sometimes we’d sit in McDonald’s,” you said.
“Well we’re definitely going out to dinner tomorrow,” said Jensen. “We can get whatever you like.”
“That sounds good,” you said. You took a few more bites and watched the lights flicker.
“Uh oh,” he said just as the power went out. You stilled as he slid off the counter in the dark. They both moved around as you sat still, a lamp turning on nearby. You jumped and Jensen chuckled. “Ah, there we go. That’s…”
You jumped off the counter when he ran a hand over your head.
“It’s-“
“I don’t like the dark,” you said. You set the bowl down and started to walk around, bumping into him and then Danneel. “I don’t…”
You stepped over to the lamp on the table, taking a seat and a few deep breaths.
“Jay.”
Jensen went off into another part of the house, returning with two more camping lamps. He turned them on and the room got brighter.
“There we go, that’s better isn’t it?” asked Jensen. Danneel brought over your ice cream and you took a deep breath. “You okay?”
“Yeah. Just don’t like the dark,” you said. You squeezed your leg and relaxed, Jensen wandering off, returning with a flashlight. He sat it next to you as you picked up your spoon and began eating again. There was a flutter of feet upstairs for a moment and you heard a whimper come from the top of the steps. Danneel got up and went over to the bottom, looking up with a frown.
“How about you sleep in your sister’s room tonight?” she asked as she went up. You finished with your bowl, Jensen leaning back in his chair.
“He’s scared of the dark too,” said Jensen.
“I’m not scared. I said I don’t like it.”
“Alright. It’s not an interrogation,” he said. He ate from his bowl, keeping a side eye on you. “You know we have a security system and protection here.”
“You’re rich, of course you do,” you said. You stared down to an empty hall and he grabbed the flashlight. He clicked it on and pointed it down there. You rolled your eyes and sat back. Jensen set the extra cookies on the table, adding more to his ice cream as you stared down the dark hall again.
“Y/N. There’s nobody here,” he said.
“I know that,” you said.
“It’s okay to be scared of the dark you know.” He popped a cookie in his mouth and you gave him a glare. Thunder cracked and you jumped in your seat. He moved over to the chair next you and you shut your eyes. “Can I give you a hug?”
“What?”
“Is it okay if I give you a hug?” he asked.
“No,” you said.
“Okay.” You got up and flinched when it thundered again. You started to wander around the kitchen, Jensen watching you like a hawk. You found a seat at the counter and stared down the hall, pouting when you heard him get up. “Don’t kick my ass for this.”
“Kick your ass for what?” you said just as he stopped by your seat and wrapped his arms around you. You took a deep breath and he turned you so you weren’t facing the hall. You looked up at him and he smiled.
“Come on,” he said. He pulled you out of your seat and walked over to the couch with an arm around you. You sat down next to him, Jensen pulling a blanket draped over the back onto you.
“Don’t…” you said when he hugged you again. He leaned back and you took a deep breath. He nodded and moved his arms away.
“I think I understand why you don’t like the dark,” he said.
“I just...I don’t know you either.”
“I know but I’m your dad.”
“That doesn’t mean jackshit to me.”
“In my world it does. If you want a hug and me to sit with you while we wait for the power to come back on, that’s up to you.”
“Fine,” you mumbled. You turned to him and groaned. “I said fine, you can hug me.”
“I see you’re just as stubborn as I am sometimes,” he said. He moved closer and pulled you into his side. After a few minutes you relaxed, watching the lightning outside the windows. “Feelin’ better?”
“There was a drug dealer my parents owed money to once. He took me when it was storming one night as collateral. They didn’t pay him back on time but he felt sorry for me or something so he dropped me off at a fire station. I said I ran away.”
“How old were you?”
“Five, six. Somewhere around there,” you said.
“He took you from your house?” asked Jensen.
“I mean, we never lock a door. It was a roof and four walls. I’d barely call it liveable,” you said.
“Did you tell the police?”
“Jensen,” you said, tilting your head up at him. “My parents were big druggies. We didn’t call the cops. That sort of thing just didn’t happen in our environment.”
“Have you ever…” he asked.
“No. I mean...I’ve had a hit or two off a joint before but no, no drugs. I didn’t like the weed that much either to be honest,” you said.
“You said you drink earlier today.”
“Like a beer a night, not even.”
“Just getting to know you...and see that there must have been someone that taught you not to be that way.”
“I had a grandma. She was nice. She was normal. She tried to get custody of me a few times but my parents threatened to stop letting her see me. I guess they weren’t really my parents, were they.”
“No, not really,” he said. He ran his hand over your head and you saw Danneel come back down. She took a seat in the corner with the package of cookies and set a lamp down on the coffee table. “How’s the boy?”
“Tuckered out in lil sis’ bed,” she said. “The battery on his nightlight was dead so he woke up in the dark.”
“Well the dark can be scary. I guarantee at least two of them wind up in bed with us by the time the night’s through.”
You were quiet as they talked about plans for tomorrow, who was going to do what chores, talking amongst themselves about where to take you for dinner. Jensen nudged you and you glanced up, a smile on his face.
“You want to go shopping with De tomorrow?” he asked.
“Sure,” you said. You listened to the rain come down harder and breathed deeply. You tensed up when Jensen shifted but he put his hand back on your head and shushed you. “I’ve kinda always wanted to try brisket.”
“I think we’re getting barbecue for dinner then,” he said. The lights turned back on and you let out a sigh, Jensen rubbing your back as you sat up. “Go ahead and keep one of those lamps and the flashlight in your room in case it happens again.”
“Thanks,” you said as you stood. “I’ll uh, see you guys tomorrow then.
“See you in the morning, Y/N.”
Six Months Later
“Jensen,” you said as you leaned back against the outdoor grill.
“Y/N…” he said as you scooted over more towards the countertop. “Yes honey?”
“Who’s that guy, the young one,” you said as you nodded out to the yard where a few tables were set up, people standing around.
“Baby face over there is Alex. He worked on the last couple seasons of the show with me. I’ve been meaning to have him and the rest of the wacky nutjobs over for awhile now. You’re a big girl, you can say hi to my friends if you want,” he said as he flipped a burger.
“Mhm,” you hummed, looking over your shoulder. You saw him talking to Jared with a beer in his hand. His head turned and he saw you, flashing you a quick smile. You returned it and heard a grunt.
“He’s six years older than you,” said Jensen as he sipped from his can.
“I literally dated a like forty year old last year.”
“Gah, why, why do you tell me things like that, I…” he trailed off when he saw you giggling to yourself. “Okay you little shit, how about this?”
“How about-”
“Hey Alex! Y/N wants to talk to you!” shouted Jensen out to the yard so just about every person there turned in your direction.
“I’m eating your brownie now,” you said. You grabbed the chocolate square off the plate nearby and popped it into your mouth as he put his hands on his hips.
“You’re making me more later, missy,” he said. He ruffled your hair and messed it up just as you caught Alex walk over.
“I am so sorry for him,” you said as you tried to fix the strands.
“You have to live with him. I feel sorry for you,” he laughed. “Alex.”
“Y/N,” you said. You took your beer and walked over towards the pool, Alex smirking to himself. “What? How bad did he mess up my hair?”
“Oh you’re perfect. It’s just nice to have someone to share the pain with,” he said. “He was really excited to find out about you you know. Like obnoxiously excited.”
“He’s alright,” you said with a shrug. You turned and looked back at the grill where he was working, Danneel coming out with Arrow on her hip. “They’ve grown on me. You must be an actor then if you’re at the first annual SPN whatever he and Jared are calling this.”
“They told me free beer and I was sold,” he said. “But yeah, I act. Kinda model every once in a while but that sounds really douchey so I try not to talk about it much.”
“Legit both Jay and De did it so my shock of all things Hollywood has kind of wavered by this point,” you said. “What’s California like? Is it as hot as here?”
“Not as bad. I’m from Canada actually,” he said. “The not too cold part which is nice.”
“I would take a cold day every once in a while,” you said. “How long are you here for?”
“About a week. I was gonna roadtrip down to a place called Galveston one day. Apparently it’s a beach town on the gulf. I thought that’d be fun,” he said.
“We went last month. It was so cool. I’d never been to a beach before or seen the ocean. There’s this place with amazing chili cheese fries. You gotta try them at night when it gets a bit cooler out,” you said. “My dad knows the name. I’ll have to…”
“You okay?” he asked.
“Yeah. I’ve never called Jensen dad before is all,” you said. You bit your bottom lip and Alex smiled.
“Between you and me, he’s really grateful you guys found each other. He loves you a lot. I know it’s gotta be a thousand kinds of weird but he is really, really proud of you. He brags about you all the time in the group chat.”
“Of course he does. He’s a dork.”
“Oh I one hundred percent agree with that,” he chuckled. He took a sip of his beer and tilted his head. “I know this is like super spur of the moment but would you want to like, go to the beach with me? Some of the guys were gonna come that were sticking around here but if you’re free…”
“I don’t know,” you said as you rubbed the back of your neck. “Like I would totally hang out with you. It’s just like the adult trip, you know? It’s for you guys. Besides I was supposed to watch my siblings that day,” you said.
“Well of course you can come,” said Jensen as he popped up behind you. You flinched and he had two plates with burgers on them, handing you each one. “She loved the beach. Turned into a little kid. She made a sandcastle that-”
“Jensen,” you groaned, your face hot as he cleared his throat.
“We’ll get a sitter. You can ride with Alex,” he said. He patted your back and walked off as you sighed.
“Oh my God,” you said. Alex just laughed as he took a bite of his burger. You knew you were blushing and prayed that he didn’t notice.
“So how’s school?” he asked.
“You see that one up there? That’s Leo,” said Alex, hours and hours later. You were sitting on the edge of the pool with your feet in the water, everyone else hanging out on the other side of the house around the bonfire.
“If I ever take Astrology as an elective I’ll be sure to call you to help me study,” you said. You leaned back on your palms, Alex laughing.
“You’re the one smarter than me,” he said.
“When I apply myself it turns out I actually am,” you said. “Mostly. A business degree isn’t very fascinating though.”
“No but it’s security which I think is really good thing for you.”
“Why?”
“Sounds like you grew up rough was all. It’s not a bad thing to have something solid to fall back on, something safe,” he said.
“This is very true. There is a guy that runs one of the food trucks that comes to the brewery, he keeps trying to convince me to open up a restaurant with him once I get my degree.”
“Do you want to?”
“No but he’s sweet so I try to let him down gently.”
“He your boyfriend?”
“No. Don’t have one,” you said.
“Cool.”
“Was that your subtle way of seeing if I was single?” you asked.
“Seems to have worked,” he smirked. You moved closer and he did the same until you paused. “Sorry. I read this wrong.”
“No, you didn’t. I just...you’re the kind of guy that takes someone out on dates and waits and is slow and nice and...you’re a good guy, right? I can’t deal with a-”
He pecked a soft kiss to your lips, lingering for a moment before he pulled back. He smiled and kicked his feet in the water.
“You’re cute when you blush,” he said. You bumped his arm and he bumped yours back. “You are.”
“Loser,” you said.
“Gonna push you in the ocean for that,” he smirked. He gave your hand a squeeze and pulled his feet out of the water. “Let’s hang out by the fire. It’s getting cold over here anyways.”
“Okay,” you said gently. He pulled you to your feet and you giggled. “I don’t know why I just did that.”
“It’s alright. I like that sound,” he said. He let go of your hand as you got closer to the fire, Alex stopping with you at the table with some leftover desserts still out. “I uh, I’m not perfect...or have a degree...or am tall.”
“Don’t really give a shit about that stuff,” you said.
“Good,” he said. You swiped some cookies for yourselves and found an empty pair of chairs together, the group getting quiet when you sat but Jensen shockingly not using the opportunity to tease you.
“That it?” you asked as you came back inside from taking out a bag of trash a few hours later.
“Yup. Thanks for helping us clean up,” said Jensen. You stretched and headed upstairs, hearing a tut from him along the way. “He’s a good friend. Just go slow, okay?”
“I know,” you said. “Goodnight. Dad.”
“Goodnight, Y/N,” he said with a smile.

The TV played softly in the background as Y/N laid on her couch, absent minded as she stared down at her phone screen, the white noise no distraction at all from the thoughts running through her head.
It had been three days since her encounter with Dean in the alleyway. Three days since he had revealed his true identity and told her that they needed to talk. She had gotten his number from Charlie, just like he had told her to do, but she was still yet to make any kind of move to contact him. What did he even need to say to her? Was he going to convince her that he shouldn’t be arrested for what he’s done, because the guys deserved it and because he was a vampire? Because that would be redundant and make no difference at all? If that were the case, then she knew he would be right. She couldn’t arrest him. It would do no good.
Sitting up on the couch, she pulled the blanket tighter around herself, sniffling slightly from the past few days of cold weather. Luckily the rain had stopped. She continued to look over the number, pondering what to do. She wasn’t sure what Dean was going to tell her, but she did know that she needed the full story of whatever was going on.
But it would have to wait a little longer. She wasn’t ready to face it all yet.
Tumblr media
Y/N wasn’t really ready to go to work, either, but she still did the next day. She had kept herself distracted all day, stopping to take deep breaths every now and then, calming her nerves. The captain needed a report on how the case was going, which he had told her about two days ago, but she had been putting it off all day, until she couldn’t anymore once he caught on to what she was doing. He was going to grill her about the case, and she was going to have to give him some excuse about why she hadn’t made progress, even though it was technically closed now that she knew what was going on.
There was no way she could tell him the truth, though. Trying to explain the killer’s a vampire and that’s why we can’t do anything was going to earn her a psych evaluation.
“Y/L/N,” she heard a booming voice across the room call out to her, making her gulp as she made eye contact with Captain Rufus Turner. “Meeting. Now.”
“Fuck,” she muttered under her breath as she stood up, fixing her shirt and walking past other officers. When she reached his office, she closed the door and faced him, her heart racing.
“Catch me up. What’s happening?” he asked, sternly as he stared up at her from where he sat behind his desk.
“Well, sir, there’s… there’s a lot of things that have come up in the case, and I’ve been trying to make sense of them all, but I’m closer to finding out who’s at the centre of it all,” she replied, trying to be ambiguous and yet straightforward at the same time.
“That’s not gonna cut it, Y/L/N,” he stated, a slight scowl on his face. “The fact is, the case should’ve been closed weeks ago. You said you could handle it without anyone else, but I’m afraid I’m gonna-”
“Sir, with all due respect, I can,” she interrupted, stepping closer to the desk. “I have it under control, and it won’t be long before I find the person responsible. I… I know who it is, I just have to catch up to them.”
“Who?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
She bit her lip, her breathing erratic. “What?”
“Who is it, Y/L/N?” he asked again, his voice raising as the tone became deeper, more demanding.
“I-” she started but flinched as the phone started to ring. She breathed a sigh of relief as he picked it up, and waved her out of the room, turning his back to the door.
Y/N sat down on her chair, dropping her head into her hands and trying to calm herself down. She had to think rationally, but considering nothing about the new information she had in her life made any sense, that was going to be difficult. She needed a solution, some way to bring justice to this case without losing her job. Which was definitely going to happen if she couldn’t tell the captain who the suspect was because he was a vampire. A fucking vampire. Jesus.
She really had to meet Dean. She couldn’t ignore the situation anymore and she hoped that he’d be of some help to her. Dialling the number, she waited as the ringing started. He picked up on the third tone, his deep timbre greeting her.
“Y/N?”
“Yeah, it’s me,” she confirmed, her voice low as she glanced around the room, hoping no one was around to listen. “We need to meet. Tonight, if possible.”
“Okay,” he agreed.
“What’s your address?” she asked, picking up a pen and a notepad. She quickly wrote it down, reading it over to make sure it was right.
“I’ll be there in half an hour,” she told him before she hung up.
Standing up from the desk, she picked up her coat and ripped the paper off the notepad, putting the address into her phone’s GPS. She folded the paper and slipped it into her pocket, relieved as she looked up at the clock and saw that it was almost the end of her shift.
“Hey, you okay?” Jenny asked, as she sat down at her desk across from Y/N’s, placing her coffee mug on the surface.
“Yeah, I just have to check something out,” Y/N replied, turning off her computer.
“Want me to tag along?” Jenny suggested, smiling.
“Uh, no, I got this,” Y/N stated, returning the polite smile. “Just… I have a hunch about something with the case, so if the captain asks, that’s what I’m doing. Okay?”
“Sure,” Jenny said, a small nod to confirm she had understood.
“Great, see you tomorrow,” Y/N muttered as she marched out of the room.
Jenny watched Y/N leave, making sure she was completely out of sight before she stood up, walking over to Y/N’s desk. She looked around, making sure no one was watching before she started to rummage through the papers on the surface. Her hand landed on the black card, frowning at the white numbers printed on it, flipping it to the back. She smirked as she saw ‘Dean Winchester’ written in Y/N’s handwriting on the back. Picking up a pencil, she placed it over the notepad, shading over the page as the numbers and letters pressed into it started to appear. A low, dark chuckle escaped her as she ripped the page out, folding it and picking up her jacket, walking out of the precinct.
Tumblr media
Y/N pressed the buzzer next to the large steel door, her hands shaking as she waited. The door rolled away, her breath hitching as it revealed Dean on the other side, dressed in black t-shirt and jeans. She looked up at him, feeling her trembling stop as they made eye contact, a soft smile on his face putting her at ease.
“Come on in,” he said, stepping aside to let her into the apartment.
Y/N walked in, raising an eyebrow in approval as she looked around the space. It was open, with soft lighting throughout, the brown leather couch and wood coffee table to one side in front of the flat screen TV, and a beautiful wooden dining table further in across from the kitchen. There were large windows that offered a view of the city, with a staircase going up to the mezzanine floor, where the bedroom was.
“Nice place,” she commented, her eyes glancing around at every corner again.
“Not what you expected for a vampire, huh?” he jested, a small smirk pulling at his lips.
“No,” she replied, as she turned back to him, her eyes widening as she realized what she implied. “I mean, yes, no… I-”
“It’s okay, Y/N,” he chuckled, softly, rolling the door back but leaving it unlatched. Hopefully that let her know she was safe here. “Drink?”
She nodded. “Whatever’s strong.”
She sat down on the couch, sitting on the edge of the leather cushion, her hands clasped on top of her knees as she watched him at the small bar between the living area and kitchen. She saw him pick up a record and place it on the player, a sigh of contentment escaping her as she heard the jazz playing softly. He walked over to her, holding out one of the tumblers with two fingers of whiskey to her, sitting down in the armchair across from her after she accepted it. Her knee bounced as she took a sip, avoiding his gaze as she focused on different things in the room.
“Y/N,” he gently uttered her name, sitting forward with his forearms resting on his knees. “Whatever you need to say to me, you can. You’re safe here.”
Y/N stood up quickly, taking a large sip of her drink as she paced the floorboards. She turned back to him, her mouth opening to speak but she shook her head, unable to process how to say what she needed. She continued to pace, and Dean didn’t know whether he should help her or let her continue to walk back and forth.
“I can’t arrest you,” she finally said, stopping in her tracks as she turned to him. “This job… it’s always been black and white. Catch the bad guy, arrest the bad guy, that’s it. But you… I don’t know how to do this. I don’t know how to be okay with the fact that you’re just gonna get away with what you’ve done. And I… I don’t know how to be okay with the fact that I’m just gonna let you.”
“Well, you could arrest me it just wouldn’t end well in prison,” he stated, standing up to face her. “Y/N, if there was some easy solution to all of this, I’d do it, but… I’m leaving soon, anyway. Hopefully that’ll put things back into some kind of order.”
“You are?” she asked, frowning. She wasn’t sure why that information surprised her, but the pang she felt in her heart was even more confusing.
He nodded, slowly walking towards her. “As soon as I tie up a few loose ends. There’s… the vampire that turned me is in Seattle right now. One of his group, Miles, he’s the one who killed Caleb Newman in the alley that night. He caught me by surprise, and that’s when you arrived. Once I find them… I’ll go.”
“You’re gonna kill them, aren’t you?” she asked, stepping closer to him.
“I have to,” he replied, his voice low and husky as he took a sip of his whiskey, staring into his glass.
“Did it… did it hurt when they… turned you?” she wondered, frowning as the words felt foreign to her.
“Yeah, it was uh… it was excruciating,” he started, his eyebrows pulling into a deep scowl as he continued, “like my skin was on fire. Suddenly being able to hear hearts beating from miles away, blood pumping.”
Dean could hear the way her heart started to race as he said that, but it slowed to her normal rhythm as their eyes locked.
“How did it happen?”
Dean hummed, dropping his head as a small huff left him, feeling the weight of the question deep within his chest. It wasn’t an easy one to answer, not just in retelling it but having to relive that night again too. It still felt like it had happened yesterday, despite being centuries ago. He could still taste his wife’s blood on his tongue, he could still hear her heart beating slowly as she left this world, he still remembered her final breath.
And yet, no matter how unbearable the memory, the pull he felt towards Y/N made him feel at ease, as if he could tell her anything and she wouldn’t judge him for it.
“It was 1892, when I was living in Massachusetts with… with my wife,” he started, moving away from her as he walked over to the couch. He could hear her following behind him, slowly, as they both sat down on the leather cushions. “We were walking home one night from the church, and that’s when they came for us. They started attacking her, as Conrad held me back. I tried fighting him, but he was too strong. I could hear her screaming, crying and I couldn’t do anything. They started… started feeding on her, and… they left her for me once Conrad turned me. She was dying in my arms, and she begged me to end her suffering… so I did.”
Dean threw back the rest of his drink and stood up from the couch, stalking across the room to the bar. Y/N watched him, her heart aching for him as she let the words of his story sink in. No matter how hard it was to take in, she felt she understood what he did for a living a little better after hearing about his past. He couldn’t save his wife, not from those vampires or from himself, so he saved others.
Standing up and walking over, she stood behind him as she waited for him to turn around. When he didn’t and sipped on the drink he had just poured for himself, she slowly sauntered in front of him, leaning against the table as she looked up at him. He averted his gaze, staring down at the amber liquid in his tumbler, refusing to turn to her.
“Dean, look at me,” she whispered, shifting closer to him.
He lifted his eyes, staring at her as they brimmed with unshed tears.
“I can’t even begin to understand what that would’ve been like for you, but… thank you for telling me. For trusting me with that,” she stated, her voice soft as her eyes never left his.
Dean scoffed slightly, unable to believe that someone could be that understanding. For the information he had just thrown at her, and when he told he was a vampire, she was handling it all surprisingly well. Y/N could barely believe it either, but all the things she had wondered suddenly fell into place once he told her more about his past.
“Is there some other way I can help you?” he asked, his voice hoarse as he cleared his throat. “I wanna make things right.”
She shook her head, a small smile pulling at her lips. “It’s okay. I’ll figure something out.”
“Y/N, I’m sorry-” he tried to apologize, placing his glass on the surface as he turned to her.
“It’s okay, Dean,” she reassured him, taking her hand in his. She couldn’t even feel how cold it was, only focusing on how perfectly it fit in hers. “Really.”
“Thank you,” he muttered, smiling softly.
They kept their gazes focused on each other, neither making a move to pull their hand away as they felt a shift in the air between them.
Neither of them questioned it, content with the peace that washed over them.
Tumblr media
Jenny watched Y/N in the window from the next rooftop, focusing her ears on the conversation, blocking out the noises from the street and traffic below. She smirked, hearing Dean tell her the story of how he was turned, and she knew that this was definitely his home that Y/N had shown up at. Pulling out her phone, she found the contact she was looking for and pressed the green button, putting the phone to her ear.
“I found where he lives,” she said, a sly smile on her face.
“Good,” Miles voice came through the speaker, a sinister chuckle leaving him.
“I’ll let Conrad know.”

Love Sometimes On A Thursday Night | KUROO Tetsuro
featuring: husband!Kuroo Tetsuro x f!reader
the one in which Kuroo Tetsuro learns love can come in the form of at home spa nights and 24k gold face masks
MAIN MASTERLIST | DOMESTIC BLISS MLIST
Tumblr media
Kuroo Tetsuro texted as soon as the man walked through those double glass doors.
“baby, he’s back.”
The “he” in question was no doubt the same one from the marketing department. The marketing lead with the greasy, slicked back hair and a smile that never quite reaches his eyes. The same one who demands Kuroo stay overtime to finish whatever project the marketing team is working on with the promotion team.
“don’t worry, try to get someone else to stay this time. you already stayed late last week. just forty more minutes and you’re free!”
Kuroo groans as he locks his phone screen. forty minutes turned into an hour and forty-minutes because his colleagues had scrambled to their feet, muttering quick “goodbyes” and was out the door before Kuroo realized he was the only one left in the office.
At exactly 8:45 PM, Kuroo trudges through the door and plops down comfortably on top of you, earning himself an, “excuse me, but hello to you too.”
“I miss you” was his muffled reply.
After three years of dating and two years of marriage, you’ve learned that despite his corny jokes and sometimes cheesy ways, Kuroo likes his words straight to the point. there was no need for the “hi and hellos”. he missed you at work today so that was to be the first thing he tells you.
he sighs against the touch of your fingers mindlessly running through his hair. seven years after high school and his hair still the same, messy bed-head aesthetic.
“tough day, huh? did you end up getting stuck with him?”
he nods, sighing again as he relives the memory of forced smiles and nods of agreements until the marketing lead let him go.
“wanna tell me about it?”
“you know I do. but we need to do that thing first. it’s Thursday.”
“oh shoot, it is a Thursday. come on, babe.”
Kuroo gasps, “don’t tell me. you forgot?!”
You smile at his antics, “I didn’t forget per say, I just don’t remember.”
Your husband rolls his eyes, fighting the smile on his face as he pushes himself off of you and helps you to your feet. his hands finds its way to your waist, the two of you making your way to the bathroom.
Kuroo makes himself comfortable on the marbled top, leaning back against the mirror, as you inched closer, examining his face.
“sir, what exactly are you looking for?”
He grins. Even after two years of marriage, this game of pretend was still entertaining.
“ma’am, I've been feeling extra dry lately, especially in my t-zone area. do you have any suggestions or remedy?”
You ponder and Kuroo could see the thoughts running through that pretty little head of yours. He couldn’t stop his hands from reaching out, fingers toying with the hem of your t-shirt, trying to pull you in closer to him.
“sir, this is not appropriate. I have a husband you know?”
“is your husband as handsome as me?”
“nah, he’s more handsome cause his forehead doesn’t look like a whole desert.”
Kuroo pouts, “no fair, y/n! I share with you my insecurity and you just throw ‘em back in my face. tell me again, why did I marry you?”
“my charms,” you retort, not missing a beat as you scrummage through the piles of face masks, moisturizers, serums, and eye creams, “and because I have these.” you wave the face masks in front of him.
“24k gold face masks huh? we feeling fancy tonight!”
you rolls your eyes as he hops off from the counter and opens the drawer, pulling out the matching headbands, one blue, one pink completed with the inscriptions “hers” and “his”. it was a housewarming gift from one of your bridesmaid. you remember the excitement on her face as she handed you the purple-wrapped box, the proud look in her eyes as she explained, “pink for y/n and blue for Tetsuro.”
he turns to you, handing you the blue one as he slips on the pink one. Kuroo insists on using the pink headband with “hers” on it, because he’s yours. And because you’re his (the ring on your finger is proof) you wear the blue one.
“it’s cold!” he grimaces, but tries his best not to move as you carefully line up the sheet to his face.
“alright, my turn.” you turn to him as he picks up the second sheet from the pack.
“how do I look?” he questions.
“I think you look more handsome with half your face covered up.”
Kuroo laughs then pinches your cheeks, “you think you’re so funny, huh?”
“ouch, not so hard!” he laughs again when you rub your face.
“come on, baby, turn towards me and close your eyes.”
you do and instead of the cold sensation of the sheet, you feel his lips on yours. part of you wanted to pull away because its 9:34 pm and you'd both have to be up by at least 6:30 am tomorrow for work. but you stay when you feel the urgency in his touch as your fingers weave through his messy locks.
he pulls away first and you laugh at how crooked his mask had become. his laughter intertwines with yours once he catches glimpse in the mirror and nimble fingers quickly put it back in place.
“alright, princess, your turn, for real now.” he helps you put on your gold sheet and doesn’t let go of your hand as the two of you collapse back onto the sofa.
“wanna tell me about the mean manager now?” you ask, your hand reassuringly squeezing his.
Kuroo opens his eyes and surveys the room. your wedding picture hung in the center of the wall, millions other pictures of the two of you surrounding it. he smiles when he spots his favorite one, the one taken by Yaku two Decembers ago on on a ski-trip with the rest of your friends. you were asleep on his shoulder, mouth slightly open, and Kuroo was smiling, just a little, as he looked down at you like you’re the only one he’ll ever look at for the rest of his life (and as your husband often likes to remind you, you are). Yaku laughed and teased him for being a simp when he airdropped Kuroo the photo. Kuroo laughed along and thought “so this is what love looks like”.
With Jhene Aiko quietly playing in the background, your legs draped over his, Kuroo no longer wanted to talk about the manager, he’d rather you hear about all the happier details of his day, like how he absolutely destroyed the lunch box you had prepared for him, down to the very last rice and how his boss had hinted at a potential promotion. he also wanted to hear about your day, how was your commute, did you learn anything new from that podcast you always listen to?
“Tetsu?”
Kuroo realizes he had spaced out and he smiles, “nah, that man isn’t worth talking about. baby, how was your day? what’d you eat for lunch?”
“you sure?” and he nods encouragingly, smiling as you begin to launch into a detailed rundown of your day.
“so Jen and I went to the new hot dog place around the corner, you know the one I've always wanted to try. it was beautiful, I've never seen a hot dog place decorated so nicely...”
Kuroo realizes while love is sometimes face masks on a Thursday night, love for him will always be you.

And I Will Still Be Here Stargazing
Batsis x Batfamily Story
Word Count: 1.6K Warnings: Explicit Language
Author's Note: I shouldn't be allowed to make new stories when I've already got WIP's to do. Oh well, HERE'S ANOTHER STORY! -Thorne
**********************************************************************
She glanced through the telescope once more, scanning the expanse of the night sky before her. Giddiness ran through her at the thought of seeing the supposed comet coming back around. Apparently, it was one that hadn’t been seen in two hundred years. It’d taken almost two whole days to convince her dad to let her go out on her own in the field three miles out of town.
Of course, that convincing came with a massive surprise—not—of taking a tracker with her just in case—being the only non-vigilante in her family did make her vulnerable to trouble, but most of their enemies wanted nothing to do with her, so she figured she was alright.
Pulling away from the scope, she felt her phone buzz in her pocket, and she sighed as she answered it, putting it to her ear. “Dad, I already told you, I’m fine.”
You weren’t answering your brothers’ texts. They were worried.
“Oh, for the love of—dad, I’m twenty-one. I shouldn’t have to check in every five freakin’ minutes.”
We worry about you, (Y/N).
“I know,” she griped. “C’mon, one night where I can actually be treated like I have a functioning brain inside my skull. Let me have it.” She glanced up again, seeing something streak across the sky. “Oh, there it is!” (Y/N) grinned. “I gotta go dad! I love you!”
Wait, (Y/N)—
Hanging up, she stowed the phone in her pocket before looking into the glass. “Oh wow,” she breathed. “It’s so beautiful…and big.” (Y/N) hummed and pulled back slightly. “Really, really big. Almost like it’s…coming to earth.”
She took a step back when she realized that was exactly what was happening. The comet, or whatever it was, was barreling towards the field near her and she gasped, taking another step back. Her foot slipped in the mud, and she fell, but the thought of being obliterated made her scramble to her feet and run as fast as she could away from it and while she wasn’t sure she’d outrun the devastation, she was going to try.
That being said, whatever it was, hit the ground with a thundering explosion, sending dirt and gravel flying, along with her and she screamed as she was thrown to the ground. (Y/N) covered her head, crying in pain as debris scraped her arms and legs, but she stayed still until the world calmed around her.
When it did, she peeked through her arms and gaped at the destruction around her. Trees had been blown from their roots and in the middle of where her telescope had once been, was something smoking inside a hollowed dip in the ground, dirt and rocks thrown away.
(Y/N) shakily got to her feet and crept closer, terrified that she was going to find some horror movie come alive. Alien and Predator stuck in the back of her mind and part of her wanted to flee. The other part—and curse her Wayne curiosity—wanted to know what it was.
“Hello?” she whispered as she neared the rim of the crater, peering in. A groan sounded and she gasped, pulling away before she took another glance and she saw a woman. At least it looked like a woman.
Her body was unlike anything familiar to (Y/N), in the form of an average woman, but she had no skin. Instead, her body looked like the night sky, swirling pools of stars and dark matter, and her hair was long and white, shimmering like glitter. Her hips and wrists were plated with some type of metal, gold and inlaid with what looked like diamonds.
(Y/N) slid down the side of the crater against her better judgement, nearing the woman carefully. “Hello?” she called again. “Are you alright?” The woman groaned and rolled onto her back, eyes opening at her. She gasped at the white eyes, like stars.
“Help,” she weakly moaned.
Hurrying over, she knelt beside the woman. “Hey, it’s okay. You’re okay.” She reached out to touch the woman but stilled when she felt the warmth radiating off her body.
“Please…help me,” she begged. “They’re…coming.”
(Y/N) shook her head and took the woman’s hand; it made her skin tingle. “Who’s coming?”
“The Insentients,” the woman said. “They’re coming in a years’ time.”
“I…I don’t understand,” she replied. “What are Insentients?”
“Terrible creatures that destroy life.” The woman grasped her hand. “I am Astra, Queen of the Stars. And you must help me.” (Y/N) couldn’t believe a thing she was hearing, simply gaping at her. “I have battled the Insentients for billions of years, but I am at my end.” She squeezed tightly, reaching up to cup (Y/N)’s cheek, white eyes widening. “You must take my place as queen and protect the life of this galaxy.”
She couldn’t even form words, mouth opening and closing like a fish and all she could muster was, “I’m sorry? What?”
Astra coughed and something splattered on (Y/N)’s clothes before fading from sight. “Please, you must do this or life as you know it will cease in one year. Take my place.”
“But I’m—I’m not some alien queen! I’m a human!” She spluttered. “What do I even do?!”
The queen sighed tiredly. “Child, nothing will stop the Insentients unless you help. They will destroy all in their path.”
(Y/N) shook her head and happened to glance towards the sky. “The stars,” she breathed. “They’re so…dull.”
“My life is fading…so they are too.” Astra whispered. “They will die.”
“What?!” she shouted. “But the sun?! It’ll go out!”
“Yes.” The queen murmured.
Bewildered, she asked, “What can I do?”
Astra gazed at her. “Take my power. Be reborn as the Queen of the Stars.”
“How do I?” She questioned and Astra took (Y/N)’s hands, placing them on her chest.
“Grasp my heart.”
“Grasp your what?” she repeated.
“My heart.” The woman’s chest opened, and she stared in surprise as a small, but brilliant light came into view. “Bring it to your own.”
“I better not die,” (Y/N) deadpanned as she cupped the light carefully. Her fingers tingled like she was being shocked, and she swallowed thickly as she brought it up to her chest, just above her heart. “What now?” she asked, and Astra’s form began to fade, starting at her feet.
“Your body will absorb all that I am…all that I…have been.” She smiled. “Place it within your chest.”
“That’s not possible.” (Y/N) retorted, though she moved her hands against her chest. “My body can’t just absorb—holy shit it’s working,” she blurted, and she went still as her something jolted her spine, all the way up her spinal cord to her brain.
Her jaw went slack as he eyes widened, head tipping back to stare at the sky above her. Memories flashed across her vision, faster than she could keep track of and then her mind felt like it was imploding. She let out a strangled gasp and tipped backwards, fatigue overcoming her. The last thing she remembered was Astra’s eyes and her smile before she disappeared from sight and (Y/N) descended into darkness.
***
When she came to, all she could think about was the pounding headache in her skull and the lack of memory the night before. (Y/N) sat up and looked around. The sun was high in the sky and her telescope was sitting neatly where it had been. She blinked, feeling as though she’d forgotten something important. When she couldn’t remember, she shrugged and got to her feet, beginning to take the scope apart and put it away.
(Y/N) rolled the sleeping bag up and put it in the tote, carrying both back towards the side of the road. Her butler should’ve been around to pick her up but when she didn’t see him, she frowned. Huh…I thought Alfie was coming to pick me up? Blinking in confusion, she patted her pocket for her phone and pulled it out, though her eyes went wide when she saw the shattered screen and burnt phone.
“What the hell?” she questioned. “What happened to my phone?” It looked like it’d been blown up. Now she was really confused. What the hell happened last night? (Y/N) sighed heavily and shoved the phone in her pocket. “I guess I’m walking then.” She grunted and heaved the telescope and sleeping bag over her shoulders, starting back towards the city in the distance.
***
GCPD was the first important building she came upon and as tired as she was, she knew they’d let her use one of their phones to call home. (Y/N) lethargically wandered into the department, stopping near the counter.
“Excuse me, can I use your phone?”
The man at the counter looked up and suddenly shot to his feet. “(Y/N) Wayne!” he shouted, and she blinked.
“Uh…yeah, that’s me?”
He rubbed his eyes. “Holy shit, you’re here.” Gesturing to her, he added “Wait right there! Don’t move!”
“Wait, but I—” the man sprinted off and she sighed. “Great. Probably going to get everyone so we can do pictures.”
Next thing she knew, Commissioner Gordon was running into the entry way. “Miss Wayne!”
(Y/N) looked at him. “Yes sir. That’s me.” She pointed to the phone at the desk. “I was wondering if I could use the phone to call home? Mine’s…busted.”
He reached out, grasping her arms. “Are you hurt? We should get you checked out immediately.”
“I’m fine?” she answered confusedly. “What’s going on? Why is everyone panicking?”
Gordon gaped at her. “You don’t know what’s going on?” she shook her head. “(Y/N), you’ve been missing for an entire week.”

Ever After Boutique - chapter 9
Tumblr media
Summary: Weeks have gone by and Frankee is sick of waiting.
CEO!Henry Cavill x Frankee Newhouse
Wordcount: 1k
Warnings: None
Masterlist // Ever After Boutique Masterlist // Previous chapter
Three whole weeks have gone by and in those weeks, mister Cavill hasn’t shown himself at the boutique. Not once. He even stayed absent when it was time for the annual check up at the boutique, to see how things are going. He canceled. The asshole canceled. I wonder if I had something to do with it.
Well, I don’t need to wonder. I know what we did had something to do with it. If the situation weren’t as complicated as it already was, I would’ve texted him.
But the situation between us has gone way beyond complicated.
Me, Vivvi, Amanda, Chrissy and Leona are all working today and when we finally close the doors, we all plop down in the break room, tired of how dreadful this day was. Customers came and went, came and went. I have been on my feet non stop today.
‘Mister Cavill cancelled today?’ Vivvi asks.
Leona nods. ‘Again. Don’t know what is happening to him. It’s unlike him to cancel three weeks in a row.’
All of the sudden I feel all eyes on me. ‘What?’ I ask.
‘No sarcastic remark?’ Amanda frowns as she leans over the table, to take a closer look. ‘Are you sick? You’ve been acting weird for a while now.’
‘I’m not sick,’ I say in a defensive tone. ‘Just a bit tired, that’s all.’
But in all honesty, I feel kinda sick, but maybe that’s because there is this void. I’m lonely and vulnerable, two feelings I haven’t felt in such a long time. I know so much about Henr— I mean, mister Cavill and now he doesn’t even show his face. Was I that terrible? Inconsiderate? Does he hate himself for letting go like this?
My phone vibrates on my lap and I check it a little too quick, hoping too see Mister Poo Poo Head on the screen, telling me to meet him somewhere, that he’s sorry or whatever, but it’s an unknown number. I get up from my seat and excuse myself. I walk out of the room and say: ‘Hello?’
‘Hello, is this Frankee Newhouse?’
‘Yes, this is her. Who’s this?’
‘Mister Burke, dear.’
Mister Burke is calling me?
‘Oh, sir, what a surprise.’ How the hell did you get my number?
‘Dear, I have a proposition for you. Fancy a drink?’
✰ ✰ ✰
So, I have a new job. As assistant manager of a boutique near Madison Park. It’s luxurious, it’s fancy and the fact I’m assistant manager, makes it even greater. While me having a new job and being an assistant manager is fantastic, telling my colleagues was dreadful. They understood me leaving this place to become a manager. They all knew that one day I’d leave, I’d accept a job better suited for me.
As we are reminiscing in the backroom, about all the things that happened in the time I worked here, the door opens and mister Cavill walks in.
He doesn’t look too good. Almost like he hasn’t slept for days on end.
‘Mister Cavill,’ Vivvi, Amanda and Chrissy say, all with a blush on their cheeks, as they straighten their backs.
He seems confused, as to why their eyes are red and puffy, why I haven’t said anything yet and why Leona is dabbing her tears from her cheeks. ‘What’s going on?’
‘Frankee is leaving,’ Leona says, causing Vivvi and Chrissy to cry out loud again. ‘She got a job offer as assistant manager.’
‘I see,’ he notes. ‘That’s too bad.’
That’s it?!
‘I dropped a special order on the counter.’ After he told us he’s gotta go, his eyes land on me. ‘Good luck, miss Newhouse.’
And with that he leaves. I’m absolutely stunned. The son of a bitch has the audacity to just simply leave like that? ‘I’ll be right back,’ I say, walking behind him to the exit. ‘Good luck?’ I say in a harsh tone, causing him to stop right before he gets in his car. ‘That’s all I get?’
‘What else do you want me to say?’ he asks, turning around.
‘Show me some damn interest in where I’m going would be nice. A heartfelt goodbye. Come on, sir, you cannot do this to me. To us.’
He isn’t saying anything. He runs his fingers through his locks. ‘Where’s the new job?’ he then asks, not making eye contact.
Not impressed, but slightly better. ‘It’s a new place near Madison Park,’ I say.
He nods. ‘Well, you’ll do fantastic and I mean that.’
I know he does. I managed to be brave back in Ever After, however I feel the tears burn in my eyes. I don’t want him to see me cry, I really don’t. However, I still have to dab my cheeks clean. ‘Be kind to the other girls, okay?’
‘I will.’
‘So… This is it?’
He nods. ‘This is it.’
While every fiber in my body tells me not to do it, I walk over to him and wrap my arms around his waist, nuzzling my face in his chest. ‘I’m so sorry,’ I whisper.
‘Don’t apologize,’ he says, snaking his arms around my upper body, warming me up as I’m slightly freezing. ‘You deserve to be happy.’
‘As do you,’ I whisper and I know he heard it. I pull back a little and stand on my toes, to give him a soft peck on his lips. When I want to let go, he doesn’t let me. What was intended to be a short and simple kiss, changes into the way he kissed me weeks ago. Tender, gentle and caring.
‘I believe in you and if there is something you need, let me know.’
I highly doubt he means it. He might just say it to sound nice. ‘Okay.’ I take a few steps back, so he can step into the car. I hold his door before he can pull it shut. ‘Goodbye mister Cavill.’
He doesn’t look at me. ‘Goodbye miss Newhouse.’

Waiting for you - Spock
Pairing: Spock x reader (gender neutral)
Warnings: mentions of injury and death
Words: 1838
Star Trek universe: AOS
A/N: Just a lil thing I wrote because I haven’t written (at least for Spocko) in ages. And didn’t feel like writing on a series.
-
“She’s here. She’s here” you heard someone shouting beside you and looked around and finally you could see the Enterprise approaching in one of many tunnels above you. You smiled and stepped forward a little and waited for the crew to dismount. When you saw the first of them, your smile got broader and you got onto your tiptoes to look out for your husband. Not many people of the Enterprise had someone waiting for them and those who did seemed overjoyed. It made you look down for moment because you had a feeling that Spock wouldn’t greet you like others greeted their loved ones. Finally, you could see him and slightly raised your hand, hoping he’d see you. When he did, he came straight towards you, stopping half a meter in front of you
“(Y/N)” he said “What brings you to Yorktown?”
“I’ll give you three guesses” you replied and just threw yourself around his neck “I’ve missed you, Spock” you breathed against his skin and he hugged you back slightly.
“Am I therefore right to conclude that you came here in order to see me during my shore leave?”
“Right” you let go of him but only that you could kiss him. He cupped your face and kissed you back. At some point his hand found yours, slowly stroking his first two fingers against yours. But then he pulled away from you all of a sudden, just holding your hand. You turned around and saw two older Vulcans behind you.
“Commander, might we have a word? Alone?” you wanted to ask why you couldn’t come when Spock threw a glance at you and squeezed your hand
“Do you mind?”
“Just be quick” you pecked his cheek “I’ll be waiting for you, okay?” you handed him a keycard of the hotel where you had booked a room for you both. He gave a nod, then let go of your hand and followed the two men. With a sigh you looked after him and returned to the hotel, knowing he would be clever enough to find it when he was done.
But he only came when it was dark and you were already in bed, reading a magazine on your PADD.
“Have you been waiting with sleeping until I return?”
“Well, you got some days of shore leave, then I won’t see you for another two years. I want to use every minute with you that I can” he gave a nod and sat down on the bed, placing a device on the nightstand. “What did they want?”
“I will tell you in the morning”
“Alright” you put the PADD aside and stretched yourself a little before sitting up, crawling closer to him and wrapping your arms around him again, kissing him. “We now have better things to do, don’t you think?” he kissed you back and placed one of his hands in the small of your back, pulling you closer while he ran his other hand over the side of your face. After the kiss he leaned his forehead to yours and you bumped his nose with yours. “Did you have fun out there on the mission?”
“I have written and called you three times per week, as we have agreed on, and informed you about what you call ‘adventures’ and have also answered each question concerning them I was allowed to answer”
“Well yes but your last message was two days ago. I need a recap of the past two days. Or retell me your favorite mission. Doing it face-to-face is much better” you pecked his lips. He gave a nod, pulled you into his lap and started telling you how the Captain had attempted to make peace between two species that didn’t work out as planned. Then he went on to their arrival to Yorktown and suddenly his communicator beeped “Tell me that’s your private comm”
“It is not” he leaned forward to get it and you just wanted to stop him but let it happen with a sigh. Placing you back on the bed, he gave your hand a squeeze, took the comm, opened it and left the room. With a sigh you fell back on the bed, glancing to the PADD and considering if you should continue reading but then looked at the ceiling, repeating everything you had planned to do with Spock in the following days in your mind. Soon Spock returned and you sat up with a smile but his words ruined it “I must go”
“Go? Go where? Aren’t you on shore leave?”
“I am. However, there is a matter that requires my assistance”
“What is it?”
“I cannot tell you much but I must leave Yorktown”
“You’re shitting me”
“I do not joke”
“But… but… will you at least get that time off later on? How long will you be gone?”
“I suppose it should not take longer than 36 hours”
“Oh well…. Then you owe me yet another debriefing upon your return” he gave a nod, came closer to put his comm on his nightstand and pecking your forehead.
“Please make yourself a pleasant day tomorrow”
“Okay. And then I’ll be waiting here for you… again”
-
But Spock didn’t come home the evening or morning after he had left, so you decided to make yourself another nice day exploring another area of Yorktown. In the late afternoon, you suddenly heard how the station went on alert and after looking around you saw that a swarm of tiny ships tried attacking Yorktown. Around you everyone was in panic, screaming, rallying kids and running away while you stood there frozen, staring at the many little ships on the other side of Yorktown.
“We have to leave. Come. Now” someone next to you shouted, pulling on your arm
“Can we go somewhere safe? Like a… bunker?”
“A bunker on a Starbase?” the man started laughing slightly and shook his head.
“Or can we do something? Something to help? Is there a defense station or militia? Or help evacuate people?”
“That’s Starfleet’s business” as if on cue, there was an announcement, informing the public that there was an attack and that you should not panic. You let out a snort and watched how the people around you seemed to panic even more. You looked around and finally saw a security, officer, going over to him.
“Excuse me, Sir?”
“Don’t worry, we’ll all be safe, just stay calm and…”
“No, I wanted to ask if I can help something.”
“Help?”
“Yeah. Weapons, evacuate people or something” he looked at you, considered it a while then said he’d have to check it out. But before he could return, they managed to somehow blow up all the small ships. Somehow you couldn’t believe that this was everything and sure enough, there was another announcement informing the public that a great part of the ship had been destroyed but that three of them had gotten into Yorktown but that they still had the situation under control and would do everything to stop them. For some reason, you found that three ships hand entered Yorktown almost worse than the initial attack. Because you knew there probably wasn’t much you could do unless the ships came to that part of Yorktown, you sat down in a café, ordered a drink and watched the news on the big screen that gave a permanent update on the situation at the other end of Yorktown. Not even 15 minutes later, you heard that everyone was out of danger and the intruders had been rendered harmless. After a sigh, you finished your drink and then returned to the scene of the action, maybe there now was something you could help, like tidying up damage or helping the wounded. You stayed there and helped until it was dark and the volunteers were sent home, so you returned to the hotel. But you didn’t get far and the receptionist called you over.
“You are (Y/N) (Y/L/N), right?”
“That’s me, yeah”
“I have message for you, from a doctor Leonard McCoy”
“I know him. He’s the doctor on the Enterprise. What is this message about?”
“He lets you know, that your husband… Commander Spock will spend the night in Yorktown hospital”
“Ho-hospital? They’re back? What does he have? Is it bad? Can I visit him? When did they get back?”
“He only told me that so you know where your husband is and in case you wish to see him. I don’t know anything else” you nodded and with a thank-you you ran out of the hotel, to the hospital, where you had brought a few people earlier today. You went to a visitor station to register your visit and once you knew where your husband was and that he currently could be visited, you rushed to the elevator and then to his room. When you saw Spock lying in bed awake, you let out a deep breath and moved closer.
“Spock” you breathed, not sure what to say and having a hundred questions at the tip of your tongue. "How are you?” was the first you asked
“I am well, (Y/N). The doctors insisted I stayed the night to ensure that my condition does not become worse” you nodded and came closer, taking his hand, pressing a kiss to it as you sat down on the edge of the bed. To your delight, he squeezed your hand.
“What happened? To you, I mean?” he explained how on the mission his side was impaled by a piece of metal and that McCoy didn’t have the correct equipment to properly treat him. “At least you’re safe” you ran your free hand through his hair. “When did you even get back?”
“4.2 hours ago”
“That was… that was when the attack happened” he agreed and said it was them who played a great role in stopping them. “Oh so that big ship that destroyed the central plaza was you, the Franklin?”
“Indeed”
“And what about the Enterprise?”
“She has been destroyed”
“Oh no. What about the crew? Are they safe?”
“We have not yet been able to ascertain who has survived the attack on the Enterprise and who lost their life, however, I am certain that at least 350 people have survived”
“Out of 428 that’s still a lot that could have died”
“Besides, I also know of at least 16 casualties from the crew” you gave a nod
“And what now? I mean is your mission over? The Enterprise is gone”
“We do not know yet but it is certain that we will remain her for longer than the originally scheduled 12 days of shore leave”
“Well, then we got more time to do something as long as we’re here. And I get to see you longer. Ha that visit was worth it” you leant down to kiss his forehead. “Now we just gotta make sure you’ll be on your feet as soon as possible because I have lot planned for the next days”

Sae My Name - Chapter 1; Funhouse Mirror
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What if the prime minister stole one of the Choi siblings from the hospital, and raised that child to think they were an only? What happens when she runs away to live her own life, and just happens to get led to Rika's apartment? Shenanigans, that's what.
Fandom: Mystic Messenger Rating: Mature Chapter 1 Wordcount: 3133 Pairings: MC (Jin) / Vanderwood, other background ships. Notes: This fic is focused around a trans MC, which plays a big role in her story. She is the focus character, though the rest of the RFA and side characters do play a part. You can also read this on Ao3, updating every Monday.
Prev / Next
Tumblr media
Jin pulled her heavy red curls up off her neck and sighed. The summer heat was starting to get to her, but there was no way she was cutting her hair. Every time she did, people started calling her ‘sir’ again and she was not into that life, thanks.
“Excuse me.” A voice called out from behind her. “Are you Saejin Choi?”
Dropping her hair, Jin turned and blinked at the man in a three piece suit and sunglasses. Bodyguard. He sure stood out here on campus. She shook her head.
“Sorry, no.” She said, tipping her head just slightly. “Does she go here?”
Here, of course, was SKY University, which was huge.
“He. Yes, sorry. If you ever meet a boy with your hair color and gold eyes, tell him his father is looking for him, please.”
“Oh, absolutely!” Jin said, plastering a fake smile on her face before heading off in some random direction.
Fuck. He knows where I am. Time to move again.
Tumblr media
On the windowsill of her favorite coffee shop, a phone buzzed. No one had been in the shop except her for more than an hour. Some poor soul had lost their phone and probably had no idea it was here. Maybe it was that blonde? Impulsively, Jin reached out and picked it up. There was a text message displayed on the screen.
If you’re reading this, please bring my phone to me!
There was an address and a door code. Jin sighed. She really didn’t want to go somewhere that a random abandoned phone told her to go. It would probably be smart to just hand it to the barista and head home. She had a limited amount of time to pack a bag and disappear again, and while she hadn’t found a new place to be yet a single bag to carry with her backpack wouldn’t be too suspicious. As she turned to pack up her computer and do exactly that she caught the eye of a bodyguard waiting out front, different from the one earlier, and noticed yet another one at the counter talking to the barista.
Shit. Okay. Out through the kitchen it is. Better to just leave behind everything that I can live without.
She tucked the abandoned phone into her pocket and sat there another minute or two ostensibly doing homework before getting up and heading to the bathroom, her laptop and cellphone sitting on her table. She had her wallet in her pocket and that lost phone, she may as well go to the suspect apartment - they’d have no reason to look for her there.
As she walked down the street a ways away from the coffee shop, she looked back. The bodyguard was still looking in the window at where she’d left her things. Good.
Tumblr media
Jin knocked on the door. No response. Guess she’d have to use the door code. A few keypresses later, and the door swung open to an apartment so lavish she felt herself checking over her shoulder for more of her father’s goon squad.
She called out into the apartment but only silence greeted her. When she looked back down at the phone she realized that there was a chat there… and it knew her name.
Jin has entered the chat Yoosung★: STRANGER ALERT WEKRJEKWLJR! Yoosung★:  Yoosung★: ??????????? Who are u??? Jumin Han: Who is this? Jaehee Kang: Jin? How did you get in here? ZEN: ?? Who the hell is that? I think it’s a girl. V: … 707: Hold on, their location… 707: Hey, how’d you get inside Rika’s apartment? ZEN: Whaaat? Jaehee Kang: Even we don’t know where it is… The location is top secret. ZEN: How did she get in there?! Jin: Who are you people?! Yoosung★: That’s what we’d like to ask you! Jin: How does it know my name?! Jin: I was just trying to return this phone, it’s not even mine! Jin: How did I get invited to this chatroom?!! Jin: What in the world is going on??? 707: It’s Rika’s phone for sure, so I can’t pull up any other info. Yoosung★: Huh? I thought V had all of Rika’s things. Did she lose it? 707: How did you get into that apartment? Jin: I was given an address and a code. 707: I checked the security cam in the hallway, Jin is totally a girl. Jin: You can see me?! 707: And a cute one at that!! V: I don’t think she’s dangerous. I’ll go meet her myself. V: Jin, meet me at the cafe next to the building in 30 minutes. 707: V, I’m coming along. V: That’s unnecessary. 707: Too bad, I have something I need to check myself. Jin: Um. Okay. I’ll be waiting I guess?
Tumblr media
Jin sipped the tea she’d gotten at the cafe and fidgeted with the phone in front of her. It wasn’t hers, but she literally had nothing to do but wait and she’d rather sip tea for half an hour at a cafe than sit in someone else’s apartment.
Even though she knew that her father’s goon squad were looking for her, she still pulled her distinctive hair up into a ponytail. Her fringe hanging in her face was enough, thanks. If only I could dye this mess, but it just won’t take the dye.
The bell above the door jingled and Jin looked up to see the teal-haired human she’d been expecting from V’s profile picture, but beside him was an unruly mop of red hair with suspiciously narrowed gold eyes behind danger-tape glasses. It was like looking in a funhouse mirror. She immediately stood and took two steps back.
“Jin?” V said, and that’s when she noticed the sunglasses, combined with the fact that he wasn’t reacting to the resemblance between herself and the man at his side. He seemed to be blind, like Mr. Kim, one of the guest lecturers they’d had in her photography class last semester. Wait, was this the photographer?
“I’m here.” She said, internally cursing herself for not learning how to disguise her own voice as she saw V tense slightly at her response.
“I’m not playing tricks on you, V.” The other redhead said from his side.
“Oh. That’s interesting, then, Luciel.” V said as he took a seat at her table.
“Who… are you?” Jin said, still two steps back from the table.
“Luciel Choi.” He said, holding out a hand to shake, which she did - though she was shaking more than enough without adding a handshake to it, but whatever.
“Jin.” She said, deciding that giving him more information was a bad idea until she knew whether he was working for her, no their, father. She was sure now he was related.
“Jin.” V said quietly. “Do you have a surname?”
“V.” Luciel said, his tone a warning, “I don’t think you want to push that right now.”
Shit, can he read my mind, too?
Luciel turned a smirking look her direction. “No, I’m not reading your mind, you just have no poker face.”
Jin sighed, and sat down, emptying her tea mug all at once as if it were a shot of alcohol before setting it back on the table with a thunk.
“I’m too sober for this. Who are you, why am I here, and should I be running for my life?” she pushed the phone across the table. “This is the phone, you can have it back.”
“We’re the RFA, a charity group. You’re here because someone got our old party coordinator’s phone and information to you then led you to her home and office. And you’re free to leave, but I get the feeling that you didn’t ask all of your questions yet.” V said, and Jin sighed. “So.. I’m going to go order drinks, and maybe you can ask Luciel whatever it is you two aren’t saying with me here.”
V got up and walked slowly up to the counter.
Jin sighed.
“You work for my father, right?” she said, watching the golden eyes across from her so closely that she saw the moment of shock in them.
“Fuck no.” He said. “How old are you, Ms. Choi?”
Jin sighed. “21. 22 next week.”
“June 11th.” Luciel said, deadpan, and it was Jin’s turn to be surprised.
“How did you—“
“You’re close, but you’re no replacement for us.”
“Replacement? Us?”
“I had no idea he was so desperate to steal us away that he’d groom a replacement child. Hair’s a perfect match but the eyes are off by a country mile.”
“These are contacts.” Jin said, not sure why she was sharing that much, but being called a replacement had hit her in a way she wasn’t prepared to cope with. No one should have had to go through what she went through. And if she was a replacement… what had they gone through?
“Ohho, even better. Brown under there, I bet.” Luciel said smugly, and Jin seethed.
She reached up and slid one of her contacts aside to show him the gold hiding behind the green plastic before blinking it back into place. She didn’t dare just take one out, she didn’t have anywhere to put it or any solution to rinse it before putting it back in.
“Fuck.” Saeyoung said quietly but full of emotion, as V sat back down at the table.
“Why are you taunting me like this?” She said roughly. “Do you think I want this life? Constantly looking over my shoulder for his fucking goon squad to come and take me back to that hell? I’m not pulling some elaborate prank here. I just want to live.” Her voice broke on the last word, and she looked anywhere but at Luciel.
“Long-lost sister?” V asked, sliding a tea refill and a cookie across the table to Jin.
“I don’t have any sisters.” Luciel said. “Mom used to talk about how father stole our brother from her, but I was mostly sure she couldn’t tell us apart and thought we were one child most of the time. Why am I saying any of this?”
“Because you’re looking in a funhouse mirror and the entire world seems like it fell on its head?” Jin offered, her voice shaking. “That’s how I’ve felt since you walked in, and I’ve definitely shared way more than is safe for me to have done. Listen, you don’t have to trust me about any of this and it’s probably safer if you don’t, but at least listen about his goons being out looking for me and keep your head down for a bit. Our hair is a beacon.”
Luciel made a noncommittal noise, and Jin sighed.
“Look, I should go.” She stood, and started to push in her chair before V spoke up.
“At least drink your tea and eat your cookie?” V said, in such a persuasive yet calm tone that Jin plopped back into her chair like a boneless fish.
Ugh, why am I even here? I should be trying to reclaim my things from the coffee shop, or seeing if I can sneak back into the apartment to grab clothes to lay low under a bridge for a bit. Instead I’m sitting here with low-budget daredevil and my creepy hacker doppelganger.
“Jin.” V said quietly, pushing the phone back across the table at her. “You should keep this. So you can chat with the members more.”
Jin looked at the phone, and at V, before remembering he couldn’t see her thinking. “Why does that seem like a good idea? You don’t know me. I don’t know you, and I’m only going to be a bother to him.” She gestured at Luciel, irritated.
“Because someone wanted you to have that phone. To meet us. And until we figure out who and why, the safest thing we can do is play along. Besides, Jumin’s already taken a liking to you.”
Luciel looked startled. Jin thought back over the small chat conversation, and shook her head.
“I didn’t really talk to anyone enough for someone to take a liking to me.” She said bluntly.
“No, but you said enough that Jumin is determined you’re interesting and honest, and he wants to meet you.”
“V, I don’t think that’s a good idea.” Luciel said.
V sighed. “Just take the phone, Jin. Use it or don’t, up to you.”
Jin nodded, not feeling up to arguing further with a blind man. As she took a sip of her tea, Luciel pulled his phone out - it had been buzzing apparently.
“Hey Yoosung. Yeah, I’m still with Jin and V. Oh. Hang on, let me ask.”
“Hey, quick question.” He turned to her, and not to V, and she blinked. “You didn’t happen to abandon an entire table of technology and homework at the Study Bean on campus, did you?”
Jin winced. “I did. How…”
Luciel waved her question aside and focused on his phone again.
“Yeah, it’s our Jin’s.”
“…”
“You have it?”
“…”
“Sweet, can I give her your address?”
“…”
“Okay, see you soon, Yoosung.”
Luciel hung up the phone and met her eyes.
“So, wanna go on a field trip to get your things? Yoosung claimed they were his because some sketchy dudes kept eyeing them, and caught your name on one of the assignments.”
Jin cursed. Of course she’d managed to get some poor innocent college kid involved in this mess. This was why she didn’t get to have friends.
“He could be in trouble. Those were Father’s…” Jin cut herself off, biting her lip. “Give me that address, I need to…”
“Yeah, I thought you might say that. Yoosung’s a smart kid, don’t worry. And I’m taking you there. You’ll have to forgive me - I don’t trust you with Yoosung yet.”
Jin cursed under her breath.
“Fine. I hope you’re right about how smart this kid is.”
Tumblr media
Jin looked at the car that Luciel led her to and froze.
“No.” She said succinctly and turned to leave.
“Hold on, Sis.” He said, moving closer but not getting between her and the exit.
“I bought this car with my own hard earned money. You’re not going to look down on my babe just because you think I shouldn’t have money, are you?”
“Your babe?” Jin laughed. “Ugh. Fine. I always wanted to ride in a Herrari. Just know this goes against my better judgment.”
Sitting in the sports car made Jin feel even more out of place.
“What are we going to tell Yoosung?” She asked quietly, and Luciel sighed.
“Depends. He’s going to pick up on the awkwardness right away.”
“V picked up on the awkwardness and as far as I could figure, he’s blind. This damn hair is a dead giveaway.”
“Well, yeah. Yoosung’s cute, but he’s also an idiot. He’s likely to think we dated or something.”
“Agh, god, no.” Jin paused. “I mean no offense, but gah.”
“I feel similarly. I always wondered what it would be like to have a sister.”
Jin grumbled something under her breath, and Luciel glanced her way but didn’t ask.
Tumblr media
“Seven!!” The blonde behind the door launched at Luciel the moment he opened the door, and Jin watched with one eyebrow raised as her brother (gods that is still weird to think about) picked him up and spun him about before setting him back down out of the way of the door.
Yoosung’s eyes automatically tracked to hers, and Jin got to see as his eyes widened to look at her. Ah. Shit. I thought Luciel said he was an idiot though… also we totally have had classes together, and he never reacted then… okay, maybe he really is an idiot…
“Seven! You brought a cute girl! Is this Jin? Jin’s a girl?! You both have the same hair! I’m jealous. Maybe I should dye mine red.”
“Calm down, Yoosung.” Luciel said, and Jin smirked.
“Hi.” She said. “I’m Jin. You rescued my stuff?”
“I did! Why did you leave it all behind? This is a really nice laptop!”
Yoosung turned and grabbed her backpack which had all of her things carefully packed back in it.
“Uh…” Jin didn’t know how to explain anything at all to Yoosung without getting him in more trouble. “Reasons.” She said, finally.
“Oh!” Yoosung said, like something clicked. “Do you work with Seven? That would explain why he wanted to meet up with you and V.”
Jin looked at Luciel, who seemed to be doing some extensive mental calculations.
“She looked like someone I knew, is all.” Luciel said, finally. “But who knows, anything can happen!”
Jin chuckled. No it couldn’t. She was about to drop off the face of the planet.
“Do you want to game? Or watch something? I never get to see Seven anymore, and…”
Jin shook her head, and Seven apologized.
“Sorry, Yoosung. Those sketchy dudes think Jin is someone she isn’t, and we don’t want to get you in trouble too.”
“Aw, dang. LOLOL later though?”
“It’s raid night, of course I’ll be there.”
Tumblr media
“So, are you two an item?” Jin asked when they were back in the car.
“No. No no no.” Luciel said, laughing. “We’re just good friends.”
“Oh, okay. Sorry.”
“Why’d you ask, do you like Yoosung?”
Jin blushed. “No, I… I mean he’s super cute, but I’m not…”
Luciel laughed, a ridiculous grin on his face.
“You’re fun to tease, Jin.”
“Shut up, Luciel!” Jin said, her blush seemingly a permanent fixture.
After another few minutes of awkward silence, he sighed.
“Saeyoung.” He said, softly.
“What?”
“My name. It’s Saeyoung.”
“Oh. So Luciel is…”
“My baptismal name.”
“You’re Catholic?”
“Yeah, I guess.”
“Huh. Cool. I’m Saejin. Nice to meet you, Saeyoung.” A name for a name. It’s only fair. And the Sae… yeah, they were definitely siblings.
“No one else knows it so… stick to Luciel, or Seven if you’d rather.”
“Ooh, I like Seven better. You just keep calling me Jin and we’re even.”
“Can I ask you a favor?” Seven asked, almost quietly enough that she missed it.
“What is it?”
“Don’t disappear? I already lost one brother, I can’t lose my sister too.”
Fuck. How did he know? Now I have to figure out what I can do to stay safe and not disappear… though to be honest having someone who knows who I am and still accepts me… it’s really nice.
“I’ll try not to. It’s hard right now with father’s goons close on my tail.”
“You can stay with me, if that’s safe enough.” Seven offered.
My choices here are to give in and trust my older brother 100%, or to run and run now. Trust it is.
“I don’t want to risk your home.”
“It’s a fucking bunker, it’s probably fine.”
“Oh. Well, okay then.”
“Good, ‘cause we’re here.”

Atsumu x F! Reader
Scenario: When you try to subtly confess to Atsumu.
Word Count: 1,970
Genre: Fluff and humor.
Warnings: Cursing, female reader, and some OOC-ness (maybe?). My first time writing for Atsumu and the rest of the Inarizaki team.
————
“I get that she’s the most beautiful here, but we are here to check out the art, too.” Atsumu jumps slightly at a voice and hand on his shoulder.
“‘Samu!"
"Could you be any more obvious?"
"I-I wasn’t doing anything!” Atsumu huffs, a blush attacking his face as he shakes off his brother’s hand.
“Why don’t you ask her out already before someone else does?"
"I’m working on it!"
"Hey, who’s that with __(y/n)?” Suna chimes into their conversation, nodding to where you had been standing and admiring a portrait. The two see a man conversing with you, both of you very engaged in whatever topic that was being discussed. He brought out a small electronic device, looking a bit nervous as he showed you the screen.
“He’s probably going to ask for her number.” Osamu replies indifferently, but did a quick glance at his sibling.
“What?!” Atsumu immediately leaves the group.
“Wait, but doesn’t that guy-” Aran questions, but Kita cuts him off while the others hold in their chuckles.
“Let him figure it out."
——-
"So if you put your-” While you were listening to the young man who approached you, a familiar face made himself known.
“Hey, buddy, is there a problem over here?” Atsumu suddenly inserts himself in between you and the stranger. He stands tall, looming over the shorter male.
“N-no, there is no problem.”
“Atsumu-kun, he was just-” You placed a hand on his arm and tried to explain the situation.
“Don’t worry, __(y/n)-chan. I got this.” Atsumu gently pushes you behind him to hide you.
“Was there something you needed from her?” He continues.
“No, si-sir. I-I was only trying to-”
“Well, if you ain’t got any business with her, I suggest you beat it.” The blonde twin glares at the male hiding behind his black device. He smirks victoriously, watching the scared stranger run away. He turns around to find you with your arms crossed and an incredulous look.
“Why were you so mean to him?”
“Mean? What do you mean? Wasn’t he trying to hit on you?”
“What? No! He works here! He’s a staff member."
"But didn’t he have his phone out to get your number?”
“Get my..-you mean his Ipad? He wasn’t trying to get my number, he was asking for my email so he could send a survey for us to fill out on how satisfied we were with the staff and the place."
Atsumu had no answer, processing what he did to the innocent and diligent worker and to you. You must think he’s a crazy idiot for sure.
"As funny and adorable that was, you’re coming with me to apologize.” You grabbed his hand, dragging Atsumu to find the man who he wrongly yelled at.
“Yes..” He pouts, but obeys. You’re zipping through the crowd until you finally spot your target.
“He’s with someone else, but we’re waiting until he’s finished and I’m not letting go until you do."
"I-I wasn’t gonna run away.” His cheeks heat up at your clasped hands, avoiding your gaze.
“Just in case.” You continued to look forward, __(e/c) eyes too shy to meet his brown ones.
“Thank you though,” You break the short pause, “I know it was a misunderstanding, but it’s nice to know that someone has my back.”
Atsumu directs his head to you, but is unable to see your face since it’s turned away with your finger busying itself with a strand of your hair.
“Of course. Always.” Your heart skips at his soft reply. You feel a gentle squeeze on your hand and respond similarly, fighting back the smile that was eager to present itself.
“Oh look! He’s done. Let’s go.” You gently pull him towards the staff worker once he has finished speaking to the other customers. You’re about to release his hand, but Atsumu keeps a tight grip. Probably he’s nervous about admitting to his mistake, you assume.
So you hold his hand just as tight, figuring he needs the support. You knew how much of a big baby he was.
But really, Atsumu was using this as an excuse to hold you just a bit longer. His fingers felt right in between yours.
——-
You managed to take some great pictures wherever it was allowed, but the artwork that forbade photos, you captured in your memory. After touring around the entire museum, you and the boys were starting to feel hungry, so everyone agreed to eat at the nearest restaurant.
You saw a few people scattered outside and you volunteered to ask the host how long the wait would be. Osamu steps behind his brother and lightly taps the back of his knees with his.
“Remember, that guy works here."
"Shut up, 'samu! I know that.” Atsumu huffs, red cheeks puffing out slightly as his friends laugh loudly. They stop as soon as you near them, telling the boys that there was a table open that could accommodate your party.
You sat in between the Miya twins which made you both nervous and happy. Your crush on Atsumu was getting worse every day yet you didn’t hate the feeling. You distracted yourself by looking through the menu, all of you deciding to share a couple appetizers before choosing your individual meals.
“What are you getting, __(y/n)-chan?” Atsumu asks, brown eyes looking at you as he lowers his menu.
“Hmmmm, I’m not sure yet. I’m caught between number 8 and 9.” You point to the items on the main course list.
“Oh! I was going to get the number 8. How about I get 8 and you get the 9 and we can just share? That way, we can get a taste of both. I’m curious about number 9 also.”
“Really? You wouldn’t mind?"
"Yea, of course I wouldn’t mind!” He grins, folding the menu before placing it on the table. You copy him and wait for the server to collect your orders.
You then bring out your phone, taking pictures of the boys and the restaurant’s interesting decor. Despite your school’s motto, you liked to keep the memories.
“Ne, Atsumu-kun, mind if I borrow your phone? Your camera is better than mine.” Your cell phone was a few years old, but Atsumu just replaced his and you were waiting to upgrade yours. Part of you was glad that you hadn't yet because you were going to use this opportunity to see how he feels about you.
“Sure. Here ya go.” He hands you his phone.
“Thanks!” You start taking pictures of yourself, really impressed with the photo quality.
“Take a selfie with me.” You change the camera view as you hold out your hand in front of you and Atsumu.
“You’re so far! Get close to me like you actually like me.” You say jokingly as you hear a few, muffled snickers around the table. Atsumu stutters a response, but you interrupt him when you start counting from three.
“Ready? Smile!” You take a few shots before looking at each one closely.
“Yeck, I’m deleting that one. I look gross in there.” You weren’t satisfied with how you smiled and your eyes looked like they were in mid blink.
“What? Don’t say that. You’re gorgeous!” Atsumu looks up at you after he watches you remove one of the many pictures. You blush at his statement, dodging his stare.
“Oh, ummm. ..t-thank you."
"You don’t gotta thank me. It’s the truth.” Atsumu murmurs, but it’s coherent enough where you could understand him.
“Get ready with your orders. The waiter is coming.” Kita sees the server walking towards your table. You went first and while everyone else was focused on the waiter, you quickly dragged your finger around on the phone screen. You immediately closed what you were doing and handed Atsumu back his phone.
Your heart was beating fast, but you kept a calm smile on your face as you casually made conversation with the volleyball team. None of the guys knew about your crush, afraid that they would make fun of you. Not that you believed they would, but you weren’t comfortable telling anyone yet.
Except for today.
You finally were going to tell one person about your crush and that person was Atsumu. You planned everything out for a while, thinking of every possible situation that could happen and how you would approach it. You were surprised at how smoothly your idea was going, but that made you even more uneasy.
But you already made your move and hoped that he would notice the little message in his phone.
———
Dinner was both fun yet stressful. Every time Atsumu would check his phone, your heart would jump at the thought of him seeing what you put. But he made no reaction so you assumed he had yet to see it.
And you were fine with that. You’d prefer if he read it at home instead of in a public place.
Everyone went their separate ways after the restaurant except you and the Miya twins. Your house wasn’t too far from theirs so they walked most of the way with you. Once you were close enough, you waved goodbye to the brothers.
“Bye! See you soon! And don’t forget to send me those pictures later, okay, Atsumu-kun?"
"Yeah, I will! Bye, __(y/n)-chan!” Atsumu waved back before turning away with Osamu.
——–
Unfortunately, he never sent those pictures. He must have forgotten, but with how many days has passed, you believed he probably felt awkward with the little note you put.
If he saw it. He never acted any differently when you saw him at school.
Maybe he never did see it? But you were too afraid to ask so you were just going to live quietly with your heartache.
——-
“Oh, shoot! I forgot to send those pics to __(y/n)-chan!” Atsumu says loudly while he and Osamu walk home from practice.
“You haven’t sent them yet? It’s been a week.” Osamu shakes his head.
“I forgot! I was too busy thinking of a way to tell her I like her. I gotta make sure it’s perfect.” The setter takes out his phone and taps on the photo album icon. As he selects and scrolls through the photos, his eyes become rounded at one particular image.
It was a selfie of you and him, sitting close, cheek to cheek as you both smile happily. What made him pause was the heart drawn over the two of you with the words ’yes or no?’ written at the bottom.
“Ahh! ’s-samu! Look, look!” He shows his phone to his brother. “I think __(y/n)-chan likes me back! She put this on our picture!”
As soon as Osamu sees what’s on the screen, his eyes also widen slightly then suddenly smacks his brother at the back of his head. “Dumbass! That photo has been sitting there for that long already?”
“I told you already, I forgot! And she never said anything! Other than to send the pictures after we ate- Oh my God, 'samu, I really am a dumbass!” Realization hit Atsumu harder than his brother’s slap.
“I knew that a long time ago. Now, why are you still here talking to me? Shouldn’t you be talking to __(y/n) instead?"
"You’re right! I gotta text her!” Atsumu’s hands were working fast in trying to find your text message conversation. Before Osamu could even make a snide comment, Atsumu becomes aware of a better alternative to communicate with you.
———
On your way home, you received multiple texts from Atsumu, all saying the same thing.
Yes!
Yes!!
Yes!
Yes!!!!
’The hell? Yes to what?’ Right when you were about to reply, you saw an incoming call from the setter who made your heart skip a beat daily.
“Hello?” You answer.
“Yes! __(y/n), yes! I want to be your boyfriend!”

Steven Universe Gravity Falls AU
~Yknow what they say, if you run out of content, ya gotta make it yourself. This is a ? shot (I might continue or not who knows not me) please don’t ask for more I have 18 unfinished fanfics on this site.~
California was nice, Steven had to admit. The people were nice, the food was fantastic, and the weather was splendid. It reminded him a lot of Beach City. Though there were just so many people, and traveling north, Steven was beginning to long for something small and simple again.
Oregon was the perfect place for that, right?
“Ronaldo wants pictures of Bigfoot, and if anyone can find him, its you Steven.” Petey’s voice was faint on Steven’s phone speaker, tossed into the passenger seat as Steven blindly picked a highway exit.
“Sure Petey, but couldn’t Ronaldo just go to a circus?”
“Not big feet Steven,” Petey emphasized, “Bigfoot.”
“Saying it twice isn’t helping buddy.” Steven was half paying attention. He was focusing on the winding roads and the looming trees surrounding him. Deep, in the pit of Steven’s stomach, he felt something start to tug him toward one direction farther away from the highway. He wasn’t quite sure if it was a good or bad feeling yet.
“Forget it, I’m going to take a blurry photo of that mean Gem in the woods and say its Bigfoot.”
“Just don’t let Jasper catch you, she’s no joke when she’s angry.”
“I saw her ripping grass out of the ground I think I’ll be fine. Later dude.”
Steven heard a small click and smiled to himself. He’s happy to see how far the people of Beach City have come and how they’ve taken to the gems. He remembers when the Crystal Gems were once the outcasts of town that locals warned you to stay away from.
He looked up to see a welcome sign.
“Gravity falls. Well, that’s a funny name.”
Steven wanted small and simple but he feels he may have overshot it.
This small town had exactly three attractions. A town museum that mentioned marrying woodpeckers (Steven couldn’t figure out if that was a normal human thing, like taxes and velcro), a small diner, and as one local described it ‘some tourist trap’ deep in the woods. It was a sticky summer day and the former two attractions didn’t have airconditioning. Steven gambled on the last stop in hopes of stretching his legs and maybe finding a source to the strange feeling in his gut. It had become much stronger since he entered this small town. Alluring, but nothing related to Gems as far as Steven could tell.
He parked in the nearly empty lot and stepped out. Jacket wrapped loosely around his hips, Steven made his way inside.
A girl that looked about 13 was petting a pig on the front porch. She was incredibly reflective, and depsite the heat wore a knitted bedazzled sweater that made her glow like a disco ball in the sun.
She looked Steven up and down as he approached, a wide smile taking up her face and Steven saw bright braces with colored bands.
“Hi!” She launched upwards, startling the pig away, “I’m Mabel, but you can call me anytime.” The girl winked and stuck out her hand, palm facing the floor.
Steven blinked.
“Mabel, stop scaring away the customers!” A gruff voice yelled through the screen door, and soon an older man stepped out in a suit, wearing a fez and eyepatch.
Immediately the old man squinted at Steven, sizing him up.
Stanley Pines knew this teen wasn’t local, but he wasn’t sure if he had any money. For all he knew he was another boy trying to hit on his giftshop cashier, Wendy.
Oh well, a customer is a customer.
“Come in, come in, and see our mystical and magical wonders!”
“Magical?” This could be it, Steven could figure out why this town has felt off. Maybe it was gem related after all.
Quickly this older man who had introduced himself as Mr. Mystery gave Steven a tour of what looked like failed taxidermy projects. Now Steven may have a lived a sheltered childhood, but he felt pretty confident there was no such thing as a Sashcrotch. And so far, nothing had felt magical or mysterious.
“That concludes our tour! Here is our mistifying giftshop and it’s purchasable wonders!”
“Right...” Well, at the very least he was able to spend some time in airconditioning.
There was a girl behind the desk in plaid that looked about Steven’s age, and just a half inch shorter than him. She looked bored, flipping through a magazine as a young boy that looked a lot like Mabel made googly eyes as he swept by the door.
Steven guessed there was no harm in asking around.
“Hi, I’m Steven.” He smiled easily, walking up to the register.
“No refunds, even if an exhibit bit you.” She sighed, peeking up before turning back to her magazine.
“Oh no, nothing bit me, I just wanted to know something.”
She looked up to get a better look at Steven and gave a small smirk.
“Sure, but only because I like your shirt. Mr. Universe merch, now that’s a deep cut.”
Unbeknownst to Steven, Dipper Pines would had been watching the exchange felt a twinge of uneasiness as this out of towner talked with Wendy.
“Have you ever seen anything strange or weird actually happen in this town?”
Wendy’s smile dropped.
“Why do you ask?” Her eyes flickered to Dipper, just for a moment, and that was all he needed to rush over.
“Excuse me sir, please buy something or exit the store.” Dipper spoke in the deepest voice he could muster.
Steven looked over with a questioning expression.
“Oh sure uh-“ He blindly reached for the wad of bills that his dad had given to him before he left. Steven pulled out a hundred dollar bill and put it on the counter. Wendy looked up baffled as Steven stuffed the other cash back in his wallet.
“Boy was I wrong about you kid!” Mr. Mystery, seemingly materializing out of nowhere, now bounded over. He had loosened his tie and lost the eyepatch which turned out he never needed.
“Whaddya wanna know? I’ll tell you everything. There’s gnomes in the woods you know-“
“Grunkle Stan!” Dipper protested loudly, dragging his Stan away and harshly whispering at him.
“Did you steal that money?” Wendy asked as Steven watched the pair whisper fight in the corner. He turned back to the girl and gave a sheepish smile.
“Uh no, my dad gave it to me before this roadtrip. He’s actually Mr. Universe.”
Wendy lit up.
“No freaking way! Your dad is Mr. Universe? I only got into him since he managed Sadie Killer and the Suspects and they always perform covers of his songs on tour, I can’t believe he’s your dad!” She rambled, stars in her eyes. Steven beamed, he loved when people praised his dad’s music. Greg really deserved it.
Steven learned Wendy’s name and they swapped stories back and forth, only interrupted as the girl from outside slowly rose from the behind the counter beaming.
“A cute musician that loves weird stuff, take me now.” She swooned. Steven blushed profusely, not used to the attention.
“Sorry, my girlfriend Connie probably wouldn’t like that very much.” He said gently. Mabel looked him up and down and pouted.
“I can wait, but not forever.” She warned, and winked, bounding to break apart her grunkle and Dipper, who are now whisper screaming with arms flailing.
“I wasn’t going to mention that Dorito shaped jerk! Just the normal stuff!”
“It’s dangerous! He could be a spy, or government, or another stack of gnomes!”
Steven raised an eyebrow and looked at Wendy. She chuckled and shrugged. Steven carefully approached them.
“He can hear everything you’re saying anyways so might as well tell him!” Mabel interrupted, nodding towards Steven as he came up.
“If it makes you feel any better, I’m definitely not government.” Steven technically didn’t exist at all. He never had a social security card and didn’t have a birth certificate.
Dipper only glared. Rich strangers with an interest in the paranormal didn’t come through gravity falls without some kind of agenda.
Steven hated the conflict he was starting. No information was worth this family fighting.
“Okay,” he surrendered, hands up, “I’ll just go. I’ll stick around town until tomorrow if you change your minds”
“Wait Steven-”
“Let him go Wendy,” Dipper glared as the boy in pink walked out, “We can’t trust him.”
“But I was going to ask for Sadie tickets...” Wendy groaned, defeated.
“There’s something weird about him.”
“Great!” Mabel beamed, “He’ll fit right in.”
~.~
Steven wasn’t crazy about sleeping in his car, but was seriously considering it after seeing the state of his motel room. It looked like it hadn’t been used in decades, a thin line of dust covering every surface. He was also pretty sure they didn’t even have free ice.
“Wish Pearl were here..” He mumbled, exhausted. He curled up on top of the covers, fully clothed, and let sleep take him.
Being Steven Universe however, meant rest was sure to allude the half alien.
Steven found himself in a dark space, fog all around him. Before a word could come out of his mouth he heard a fast, repetitive muttering.
“Stranger...Wendy looked pretty today..Can’t trust...Tell no one...Ford isn’t here..”
“What, the-” Steven quietly walked toward the source of dialogue, and saw the faded silhouette of the boy from the Mystery Shack. His back was turned to him, but Steven recognized the blue vest and mosquito bitten legs.
“I thought I was over the dream hopping.” Steven spoke a tad too loudly, starting the young boy - Dipper.
“What-” Dipper’s eyes grew wide in panic, and the boy fell back harshly.
“No, no, you can’t be in my head!”
“Wait, I’m not-” Steven tried to reassure him, stepping carefully towards the boy but Dipper let out a screech of terror, sweat gathering around his temples.
“Bill sent you didn’t he?! He’s not really gone- he’s going to hurt Mable again-” Dipper began to hyperventilate.
“Dipper please,” Steven took a step back, arms in the air in surrender.
“I-”
“I’m not going to hurt you I swear on the gems.” He placed a hand over his heart. “This is a total invasion of privacy but it’s something that happens when someone’s emotions are out of control-”
“How are you here?” Dipper demanded, scrambling to his feet. “Tell me what you are and what you want.”
“I’m just passing through!” Steven insisted, then lowered his tone to calm the younger boy. “I’m kinda of magnet for weird stuff. I just wanted to help in case anything was going on.”
“We deal with things just fine around here.” Dipper spat, then watched as Steven deflated. He seemed tired, like he hasn't slept well in a while.
“So what are you anyways? How can you be here?”
Steven winced, and laughed nervously. “It’s kind of a long story..”
Dipper raised and eyebrow and swept his arm around the void dramatically.
“You have until dawn.”
~
“I thought that was a conspiracy theory, it wasn’t even covered by major news outlets.” Dipper look exhausted, cross legged on the unseen floor as he ran his hands through his hair.
“I think Garnet is pretty persuasive when it comes to government and reporters. They all kinda fall in love with her.”
“She’s the one that’s really two aliens?”
Steven shook his head with a small smile. “It’s hard to explain but yes, I guess that comes close.”
“That’s actually insane. I’m insane, aren’t I?” Dipper stood up, leaving Steven on sitting next to an empty space. “It’s been too quiet around here and now I’m so desperate for weird, that I’m making it all up in my head.”
“I get that feeling.” Steven smiled without humor, “but no, this is real. I’ll prove it when you wake up.” Steven felt a shift, the fog in the void getting denser.
“Sooner than I thought, you’re an early riser huh?”
Dipper looked back at Steven, panicked. “You’ll come to the Shack again right? In just a bit?”
Steven smiled. “Promise.”
~
Dipper woke up to his sister braiding his hair. Mabel still had her pjs on, and a make up kit next to the bed. Dipper frowned, tasting strawberry shortcake.
“Stop testing party looks on me, Mabel.”
“Stop having my face structure and maybe I will.” She grinned, covered in blue glitter.
Dipper quickly washed up and got dressed for the day, feeling like he was anxiously waiting for something but not quite remembering what.
He felt like he had a strange dream last night...
He quickly remembered, choking on cereal as Steven walked into the shack right as it opened. Hair slightly frizzy from the heat and eyes strangely tired. Maybe dream hopping took energy that he anticipated.
“Steven!”
“Meal ticket!”
“Grunkle Stan.” Mabel chastised as Dipper rushed over to the older boy.
“Good morning everyone.”
Dipper stopped short, slightly hoping that everything he experienced wasn’t just his imagination. That everything exciting and weird and interesting wasn’t always trying to kill him, ruin his life, or steal his candy.
Steven looked tired, like he had been doing this much longer than Dipper, but he had still come out with enough energy to smile.
“Not insane?” Dipper asked hopefully, quietly. Steven snapped his attention from his Grunkle and Mable bickering down to the Dipper. He gave a reassuring smile, eyes quite serious.
“Not insane.”

Accidental Feminist Icon
Tumblr media
Between my own headcanon Barba becomes a very niche viral celebrity for being a mix of feminist icon giving one liners on the news and handsome/well dressed and the DJ Khaled post, this happened.
“Counsellor, are you listening?” Olivia asked as Rafael Barba looked at his phone again. It had been months now since he started trying Manhattan SVU’s cases, and she hadn’t seen him this distracted before.
“I just- why do I have rapid fire Twitter notifications? Over one hundred and fifty?”
“You have Twitter?” He rolled his eyes, not proud of the admission. But he liked to follow politics and music and satire. His colleagues would have discourse on legal proceedings and theory. But when he opened his notifications, the sea of professional headshots making up the icons in his notifications window were replaced by cartoon avatars and selfies. Handles like @Bradley_GreedADA were replaced with @feministkilljxy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What was happening?
Why were there GIFs of him now?
“Rafael?” He was snapped back to attention by Olivia’s hand passing over his phone screen, and he shook his head, holding the screen out to her. “What am I looking at?”
“Why have a couple hundred- are these all teenagers?”
“Are they following you? Or tagging you?”
“Both?” He scrolled through the mentions.
“Both.” A questioning look.
“Have I gone viral?” he asked herr, eyes wide and his tone disgusted. Twitter was where he posted law books, nice dinners out, homemade dinners in, and the nicer scotch he drank. Sometimes even pictures of himself; some of his friends enjoyed fashion as well, and their twitters all had a heavy thread of their suspenders and ties. Suddenly, he was having photos he’d posted to flaunt his ability to mix patterns retweeted in appreciation of something more than the color scheme.
“I think you have. What have you said now?”
“The girl whose tweet I keep getting tagged in mentioned Jocelyn Paley and the Adam Caine case.”
“That was seven months ago.”
“I’m very aware. I have to get to the office. I’ll get you that warrant.”
He continued to scroll as he walked, alarmed by the number of followers he was gaining and going to open a direct message from a friend to see a wall of messages from names he didn’t know. Once he was able to find Bradley’s message, he saw it was series of tweets with videos and GIFs of him on the courthouse steps. They were all from the same case, he assumed the Adam Caine case. He clicked the video of he and Rita Calhoun.
All I can say, today's Grand Jury indictment is the first step towards achieving justice for Jocelyn Paley.
The DA's office is desperately trying to distract from their recent scandal with a high-profile case.
Don't give me that--whether you're a john in the South Bronx or a $3-million-a-year talk show host, no means no.
He could remember the exchange now, and it had apparently been retweeted thousands of times. Cameras always made him determined to distract, determined to drive home a point. And now, he was seeing some group of teenagers had clung on to his words, and he wasn’t sure how he felt about becoming recognized enough by that demographic to warrant this rapidly increasing follower count.
“Carmen, can I ask you something?”
“Of course, Mr. Barba. Need coffee?”
“No,” he said plainly, shaking his head and showing her his feed. “Is this normal?”
“They found you?”
“Excuse me?”
“Haven’t you seen the posts?”
“I don’t branch out on Twitter often.”
“I see it mostly, like, on Instagram with captions and people post clips of you on vine.”
“What’s vine?”
“A six second video app. Teenagers and young women post you. Vine is normally comedy. But people are obsessed with you. Niche, but sizable number. I think it’s mostly New York girls who see you on the news. But that means the vines went viral a couple months ago.”
“So now they’re all following me on Twitter?”
“You’re viral for being attractive, dressing well, and prosecuting rapists. Embrace it.”
“I can’t post my clothes anymore.”
“Just continue like usual. Don’t respond to DMs.”
He spent a few weeks terrified of this new following, but after three days, things calmed down. The number of followers he gained was weird and confusing to him, and he decided to listen to Carmen ultimately, keeping the profile the same and pretending nothing had happened. She did stop him one day, showing him that there had been people making fake accounts, yet another thing that was insane to him. She primarily told him because these accounts were attempting to take advantage of the fact young girls were the ones following him. He awkwardly slid the handles to Olivia, and Carmen filled out an application for Twitter verification that left him mortified. Even worse, it was approved.
He was swept away in a case soon enough. Lindsay was assaulted by a whole fraternity at Hudson. They uncovered a previous victim in a hospital, a fraternity known for being a rape factory, and a dean helping create a culture that buried these attacks. It was becoming higher profile than he expected, and it wasn’t easy to try. He’d had to shut off his notifications on his phone during these cases. When Lindsay committed suicide, he accompanied Rollins when she went to arrest the dean. What he didn’t expect was for two of the women they saw to approach him, asking if they were here about Lindsay and thanking them when he said he couldn’t mention it. Then they asked for a selfie. Rafael was mortified but obliged.
“We recognize you from Twitter.”
Well, now he knew he needn’t accompany the squad out anymore.
When he got tweets from the kind of scum that supported the fraternity, it took a concerted effort not to respond. That could jeopardized the case. He’d already had to tell the two girls they couldn’t post about him being there. He tweeted a disclaimer for if people saw him out, feeling like an asshole. Twitter was now becoming a liability, but he could balance it and refused to give up the feed. Slowly, the GIFs and stills of him on the news were collected, and he only got embarrassed again when mami’s students had discovered him and realized he was the guy in their principal’s pictures. Now Mami had a Twitter, and she followed people who praised him joyfully, though he’d managed to convince her not to interact in private messages or respond to people insulting him.
The Jenna Miller case caused another leap in his follower count, and he had developed a little sense of pride instead of embarrassment when his followers jumped from people who mattered in New York to people who mattered elsewhere. A congresswoman from Ohio. Artists. Activists. He’d texted Olivia when Lady Gaga followed him. Plus that woman from True Blood. God, she was beautiful. Plus the hot boybander that had probably made him realize he was bisexual. It was weird, and he was unwilling to publicly acknowledge any of it. Unless they were on twitter, he certainly didn’t tell anyone he knew other than Olivia. Soon enough, someone had made a t-shirt on Etsy of the moment he’d turned on his heel. The media had called after Jenna, the olympian, and he’d told them no questions. Then the had the gall to bring up her sex work. He’d stopped on the steps, turning on his heel and announcing “Except for that one. Paid or not paid, no means no. Consent can be revoked at any time.” And now, Etsy users were profiting on it. This group was niche, but it ran deep. Luckily, he noticed the shop only had a few dozen sales.
Everything was fine until Rafael Barba lost his ability to maintain his composure. Up until now, he’d monitored his name, mentions, and a few hashtags people used with him. It was usually just the GIFs and stills and soundbites. He participated in some banter after the first couple of years, boundaries firm enough he felt he could. But he still didn’t bicker. Carmen said he got a following for being a good guy, and he thought it was gross openly condemning rape seemed to be all it took to be a good guy. But then through his lurking, Rafael Barba saw a tweet about DJ Khaled. He’d had to google who the hell that was, unsure who all of Twitter was piling onto, but he found the tweet objectionable enough to respond.
“Mr. Barba,” Carmen said, eyes sparkling with amusement as she came in to see her boss still scrolling through his phone. “You really decided this is the time to get involved on Twitter? You only ever respond to what people say to your stuff or your friends.”
He should’ve known she’d be on top of it. He’d given her access when notifications went through the roof the second time, and Carmen helped filter through DMs he didn’t want to see. But now, that meant her phone was vibrating like his in response to his first tweet in response to a stranger or someone who wasn’t in a thread under his own post.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“What? I’m supposed to endorse consent but not enjoyment?”
“You’re going to end up in a Buzzfeed article, sir.”
“If this is my legacy, so be it.”
“Your legacy? Taking it seriously now?”
“This is serious.”
Carmen’s phone buzzed in her hand, and she knew he’d sent another tweet. Her own account got notifications so she could monitor him. She sighed heavily, unlocking the phone and looking at it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Mr. Barba, does your mom know you’re bi?”
“No, why?”
“She follows you, idiot.”
“Shit. Well, I suppose it’s time.”
“If you tweet Smash Mouth, I’m quitting. These kids are already thirst tweeting you. They must have tweet notifications on for you.”
“Who’s Smash Mouth?”
“How the hell are you culturally relevant?”
“According to Liv, I’m a feminist icon.”
“Don’t get arrogant sir. I help run this twitter.”
“I’ll change the password. I do all the posting.”
“I won’t tell you if Evan Rachel Wood slides in your DMs.”
“Why would I care?”
“I know why you watched True Blood.”
“Touche.” He paused. “Do you think she will?”
“Give me the phone. I’ll bring it when Liv calls.”
“Why would she call?”
“She made a Twitter, sir. Followed you last week.”
“Shit,” he said, eyes wide. “I posted pictures of my food. She saw me acting like a Twitter guy.”
“You are a Twitter guy.”
He rolled his eyes, ending with a retweet of his new favorite addition to the conversation.

Lifeline - Part 1
Summary: (First Responders!AU) Moving to Los Angeles and living with your brother, Thor, was never part of your plan nor was being a 9-1-1 dispatcher, but plans change when you are faced with your own emergencies. In your case, it was leaving behind a relationship that wasn’t as perfect as it seemed. Will this be the fresh start you were hoping for or will your past find a way to catch up with you?
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Odinson!Sister Reader
Word Count: ~1800
Warnings: Car accident, angst

A line ringing over your headset notifies you another emergency call is coming in. You cleared your head, preparing for anything, and clicked the spacebar, answering it, “911, what’s your emergency?”
“Bro, that was insane,” the male voice said over the phone. “You’re gonna be famous on YouTube.”
“Excuse me, sir? What seems to be the problem?” you asked, letting out a sigh.
“My friend is having trouble breathing, and his throat feels like it’s on fire.”
“What’s the address?”
“576 Rose Lane in Westwood.”
You typed the address into your computer, signaling the nearest available unit to the caller's location. “First responders are on their way. Can you tell me what he was doing before this happened?”
“We were doing the cinnamon challenge.” You rolled your eyes. “I thought it was harmless. Then, he was gagging, and then he coughed, and a puff of cinnamon came out of his nose. It was awesome; he looked like a dragon.” It's been a while since you got a call about an internet challenge gone wrong, but it's been forever since you got a cinnamon challenge one. You didn't even know that challenge was still around.  “Oh fuck!”
“Is everything okay? What happened?”
“He collapsed. He’s not moving. Should I shake him awake?”
“He probably passed out, but paramedics are only a few minutes away. Is he still breathing?”
“I don’t think so,” he panicked.
“Remember to stay calm, I’ll help you through this the best I can, okay? Okay, now I am going to have to ask you to administer CPR. Do you know what to do?”
“Sort of. I learned it in health class a few years ago.”
“Perfect. It's 30 chest compressions followed by two breaths going to the rhythm of the song Staying Alive. You can do this.”
“Ok---okay. Yeah. Right, right,” he mumbled. Hearing him set the phone down on the ground, he started counting and doing chest compressions.
The responding unit was about a block away, and once they arrived, you could hear the sirens coming through the phone call.
“Odinson, take over compressions,” a lady’s voice commanded. “Kid, come with me.”
“Is he going to be...” the line went dead as he hung up his phone.
You leaned back in your chair, rubbing your eyes. This wasn’t anything new; when help arrives, people hang up, and you don’t get to know how it ends, but maybe it was for the best. You sit back up, seeing your reflection in one of the many screens in front of you. At least, you knew most of the firefighters from Station 107 at the scene, including your brother Thor, if you ever wanted to know how it ended.
It's tough, taking call after call, emergency after emergency with little to no recovery time in between. It’s a stressful job that is emotionally and physically taxing. It requires extreme focus, patience, and puts you under a certain kind of pressure. The pressure of wanting to help and do everything you possibly can when this person you never met puts their life in your hands. You never know what the outcome will be, but you try to help them get through what might be the scariest moment in their life. It’s those calls, the ones you were able to save, that keep you coming back to work.
You stepped away from your command center and headed towards the kitchenette, spotting Luis rummaging through the fridge. It wasn’t unusual, but it did always bring a smile to your face. It was hard to believe he was one of the dispatchers who showed you the ropes after relocating to Los Angeles three months ago.
“Hey, Luis.” He turned around with a doughnut in his mouth, quickly removing it and shooting you a carefree smile.
“Hey, Chica, get any weird calls yet? You know I love hearing about those weird ones, right.”
“Nothing out of the ordinary, but a guy called earlier saying his whole body hurt everywhere he poked. I told him to drive to the emergency room and get his finger looked at because it’s probably broken. Oh, and there was another cinnamon challenge victim.”
“Another one, I thought that craze was over.” He shook his head. “But I did hear about this crazy call that came in last night, right. It wasn’t so much crazy, but one of those nuisance calls, you know what I’m saying, the kind where you’re like, ‘why are you calling, this isn’t an emergency type of situation?’ Anyways, Cameron Klein took the call; you know the dude with the great hair, the kind you just want to run your hands through. It has the perfect fluff to curl ratio. I mean, I touched it once, and it was like a cloud. I asked him what products he used in his hair, and he was like…”
“Luis, how does this relate to the call?”
“Oh, right. Sorry, sorry, sorry, so there was this lady caller, right. She was telling Great Hair how she couldn't leave her car because there was a hostile raccoon outside her door. So then, Great Hair was like why don’t you go out a different door. And this caller says ‘yo I tried, but it’s like this trash panda can read my mind, right. He follows me when I move to the other side, and he’s like crazy, stupid fast like a rocket.’ And here comes the best part, Great Hair was like, ‘Hey girl, you better run fast then,’ and hung up,” he beamed with a slight chuckle.
“Oh my god, people really need to learn what an emergency is,” you chuckled, shaking your head.
“You know that’s right, but duty calls.” He tilted his head towards the door, carrying two doughnuts and a huge mug full of coffee.
“Later, Luis.”
Years ago, you never would have imagined you would be working as a dispatcher in Los Angeles. You preferred helping people hands-on, which is why you became an ER nurse. It was the feeling of never knowing what was going to come charging through those doors next that excited you. But being a dispatcher gave you a whole different kind of thrill because you could only use your voice to help.
The rest of your shift flew by until you were on hour eight of your ten-hour shift. A pileup involving a semi jackknifing on the highway forced a huge collision of cars. All the units in the area along with a few on the outskirts came in to assist. It was the same call coming in multiple times, and all you could say was help was already on the way.
“911, what’s your emergency?”
“Send help,” the woman cried, telling you her address.
“Ma’am, I am going to need you to tell me what is going on?”
“A power line…a power line fell into our pool, and my daughter is trapped on her unicorn floaty in the water. I don’t…I don’t know what to do.”
“Stay calm, ma’am. My name is YN, and I’m dispatching a unit to your home now.” You switched lines to the highway accident, getting on a line with Captain Danvers from Station 107, who was sending three individuals to the scene right away. You switched back to the caller. “Okay, I will need you to stay calm. What is your daughter’s name?”
“Morgan, she’s five years old.”
“Please, whatever you do, make sure Morgan stays on the floaty because it is protecting her from the water. There is a good chance the power line is sending more than 5000 volts through the water.”
“Okay, okay, I can do that, “ the mother breathed. “Honey, please stay on the tube.”
“I'm going to try to get in contact with the power company to turn it off.” You looked up the power company in the area, and someone slid next to you. You glance over, seeing Bruce get to work on calling the power company. You nodded at him, staying on the line with the mom. “Ma’am, has help arrived yet?”
“No, but I can hear the sirens.” You peeked at Bruce, but he shook his head, still trying to get a hold of the power company. “They are coming through the back gate now.”
“Ma’am, can you hand the phone to one of the firemen?” You bit your lip, studying the layout of their home on one of your monitors. There were flowers all over their backyard, and you got an idea.
“Hello, this is Fireman Rogers.”
“Hi, Fireman Rogers. This is 9-1-1 dispatcher, YN, how is it looking there?”
“Well, on the drive-in, we saw that a truck hit the power line pole, which caused the pole to fall into the pool. The driver isn’t in any serious condition, but one of our EMT’s is looking him over,” he informed in a deep voice. “Then, we have a pool vibrating with energy, but I assume you already know that part.”
“Do you have a plan in place? We are still trying to get a hold of the power company.”
“There are a few more floaties by the pool. I could ride one over to Morgan and pull her to safety?”
“Really? Where did you get that from the macho man handbook?”
“I don’t think that book exists, YN,” he added, making you scoff.
“I may have an idea.” You narrowed your eyes, playing out the idea in your head.
“What did you have in mind?”
“I can view the whole home on one of my monitors, and there are a ton of flowers. So, I can only assume a garden hose must be nearby.”
“Yup, I see it.”
“Okay, perfect. Grab the hose and cut off the metal ends; it's rubber, so it won't conduct electricity. Then, have you and another fireman take the hose and walk along the opposite sides of the pool. Have Morgan grab ahold of it and carefully pull her back to the edge."
“That’s genius, YN. Thanks for your help,” he acknowledged, making you crack a side smile. Few people said thank you in this job, but when they did, you appreciated it. “Here’s your phone back, ma’am.”
Morgan’s mother's breath was shaky and staggered through the phone. She was scared and had every right to be. If you were in that situation, you would be, too. “Oh my god, it’s working. It’s working,” the mother shouted into your ear. “Are you okay, honey? Are you hurt?”
“I am okay, Mommy,” Morgan replied before the phone line went dead.
You smiled at yourself in one of the now blank screens. It was these moments why you loved what you were doing; a happy ending. Some calls never get a happy ending, but when they do, those are the ones you try to remember when a stressful call comes in.
________
AN: I hope you enjoyed the first chapter. There is a long way to go and I promise things will definitely get more interesting. This was just a quick intro to some of the many characters that will make an appearance/cameo. Comments always welcome! Thanks for reading and I hope you’ll stick with me!

Being back home never felt so good.
Stepping inside of your house, you felt instant warmth, turning around to see Jungkook trailing right behind you with Minho right beside him.
Everything was different now—and in a good way this time. As you stared into Jungkook’s eyes, you now had a sense of fondness and yearn for him, instead of pain and heartache like you used to have before.
“Feels good to be home, huh?” Jungkook smiled down you, heartwarming at the sight of the same smile on your face as you nodded your head. He then placed Minho’s suitcase down on the ground beside the door, you doing the same with yours. “Well, I better hand out—”
“Appa, where’s your stuff?” Minho suddenly asks, staring up at Jungkook confusingly.
“Oh,” Jungkook eyes widened slightly at his words, causing him to glance at you and shrug his shoulders, not knowing what to say.
That’s when you grinned at him. “They’re still in the car, appa has to go get them.”
Jungkook’s eyes may have been wide, but after hearing your answer they were nearly bulging out of his head. He stared at you, trying to see if what you were saying is true, and when you nodded his heart skipped a beat.
“Yay!” Minho cheered loudly, clapping his hands. “Appa is living with us again.”
Minho ran off to his room, and when he was gone Jungkook turned towards you. “Are you sure you want me back? I don’t want you to feel pressured into doing his, allowing me to move back—”
“Jungkook,” you smiled reassuringly. “It’s okay. You can move back here, it’s your house too. But you’re staying in the guest room for now, is that okay—”
“Yes, yes!” Jungkook quickly interrupted, nodding his head. “Yeah, that’s perfectly fine.” He couldn’t stop the smile creeping onto his face. “I’ll do anything to come back home.”
You simply nodded, lowering your head to hide the blush forming on your cheeks.
“I’ll go get my suitcase then.”
While Jungkook went back to the car, you brought both yours and Minho’s things upstairs and began to unpack. It hasn’t even been ten minutes yet until your phone started ringing, Cho’s name flashing on the screen.
“Hey girl,” you answered, pressing your phone against your ear as you continued to unpack your clothes, returning them into their original places, whether that be your closet or large dresser. “What’s up?”
“I heard you’re back, is that true?” You hummed in reply, shoving one of your pants into a drawer. “Then can you come to the office real quick? Jaehyun needs to talk to you—it’s urgent.”
“Can’t he just call me?” You ask, releasing a sigh and in the background you couldn’t help but hear multiple voices going on, some of them even sounding loud and chaotic. You’ve been home for about two hours and they already wanted you to come into work—and it’s nearing five in the evening too.
“He’s busy right now, it’ll be easier if you just come here.” Cho replied, hearing her mumble something to someone in the background in the process. Just as you were about to argue, she quickly added in a quiet voice, “I’ve got to go so hurry,” before hanging up on you.
You shoved your phone into your pocket with an exasperated groan falling from your mouth.
Grabbing a coat, you rushed out of your room and down the stairs only to run into Jungkook coming in the opposite direction with his phone in hand.
“I’ve got to go,” you both said at the same time. Jungkook cleared his throat and gestured you to go first, which you then did.
“Cho just called and asked me to come down to the office real quick, something urgent happened and she said Jaehyun needs me there.”
Instantly, you noticed the way he tensed at the mention of Jaehyun but nodded understandingly nonetheless. “Yeah, Namjoon-hyung also called and asked me to come down to the studio and do some song recordings. It shouldn’t take long, just doing the lines that I missed while being gone.”
“Okay, what about Minho? It’s late and we can’t get a babysitter last minute.”
“I’ll take him with me,” Jungkook offered in an instant. “I’m sure the others will be happy to see him again, it’s been too long.”
You nodded, “Okay, we’ll meet back here then?”
“Yeah, and I’ll pickup some Chinese takeout for us on the way back home.”
“Sounds good.”
After saying goodbye, you both went your separate ways, you heading in one direction while Jungkook and Minho went in the other.
Tumblr media
Entering Jung Enterprises, you immediately greeted with nothing but complete chaos around every corner.
Questions arose in your mind when seeing many employees, people who you didn’t bother learning the names of run past you with files and or boxes in their hands. You tried to stop and ask one of them what was going on, but they would only mumble out a quick reply, saying how they were busy and unable to help you.
Realizing that you weren’t going to get any information out of anyone, you took the elevator up to the top floor where Jaehyung’s office was, and when entering the room, you were greeted by the sight of his back as he talked to someone on his phone.
“You don’t have to worry, sir.” Jaehyun paused, turning around to glance at you and you swore you could literally feel the awkward tension shared between you two as he held his finger up before continuing his conversation. “Everything should be packed and moved out out of here by the end of this week. Alright, goodbye sir.”
You raised a brow confusingly at his sentence.
“Sorry about that,” hanging up, Jaehyun placed his phone down and leaned guest his desk, facing you. “Just had to finish a last minute phone call—welcome back, by the way.”
“Thank you,” you bowed your head. “It feels good to be back home.”
“How was the trip?”
“It was—good,” answering hesitantly, knowing that any topic that had any relation to Jungkook was a touchy subject for him. And even though you were careful with your words, you could still see the way Jaehyun’s jaw clenched and eyes staring down to avoid yours.
Jaehyun simply hummed in reply. “You’re probably wondering why I asked you to come here at such a late notice?” He asks, changing the subject.
You nodded, taking a seat at one of the chairs across from him—barely a feet away from where he was standing.
“The company’s moving,” and just from hearing those three words made your eyes widen, but you chose to stay silent. “While you were gone I had a meeting with a sponser who is interested in doing a full partnership with our business. And in order for our companies to work together, our company must move to where their headquarters is at—” he suddenly pauses, hesitation clear in his voice. “—which is in California—Los Angeles precisely.”
That’s when your widen eyes nearly fell out of your skull. “C-California? As in the United States, California?”
Jaehyun nodded.
“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” You question, “I mean, Jung Enterprises started in South Korea. It’s one of the most successful and largest companies in the country. I’m sure not everyone is going to move across the world, so that means there’ll be lots of layoffs. People won’t be happy about that,” your voice trailed off near the end, not knowing whether or not you were crossing the line.
Back then you were able to talk freely around him, but after everything you been through with each other, you weren’t so sure now.
“Yes, I’m aware of that.” Jaehyun nodded again. “But after going over the numbers with some of the accountants, we’ve learned that our profits can nearly triple in size if we do this partnership. Moving is the best choice for my company, regardless of how many people will be unhappy because of it.”
You opened your mouth to argue, but chose to remain silent. “I understand, sir. If you think that moving the company is the best decision then I support you one hundred percent.” You then ask, “But I’m confused, why are you telling me this?”
“I want you to come with me.”
“Y-You what,” you gaped, eyes wide. “I can’t.”
“Why not?” Jaehyun asks, tilting his head as he stared at you confusingly.
“Because of Jungkook,” was on the tip of your tongue, but you found yourself only able to say “Because of Minho. He has friends here, close friends and my family is also here. He’ll have to restart with school, meet new people. Those kind of things aren’t easy for a kid. And plus, we’ll be alone over there—”
“You’ll have me,” quickly spewed out of Jaehyun’s mouth, making you freeze and stare at him with shock.
You opened your mouth, struggling to find the right words to say. “Jaehyun, I—” you suddenly paused, nibbling on your bottom lip anxiously. “What about Jungkook, then? I can’t just take Minho away from him.”
“He has money, he can visit.” Jaehyun snapped, making you slightly flinch, and when he saw you staring down at ground, trying to avoid his eyes he knew. “It’s not just because of Minho or those other problems, isn’t it? It’s because of him.”
You stayed silent.
“A-Are you two working things out?” And again, you chose to stay silent which made Jaehyun roll his eyes and scoff. “I can’t believe you’re actually forgiving him that easily. You’re so stupid—”
“Excuse me,” you stared at him with disbelief, your gaze replaced with annoyance. “I’m sorry, but I don’t know how any of this is your business. It’s my family—not yours.”
“You’re making a big mistake, {Name}.” Jaehyun’s jaw clenched. “What if later on in the future things don’t work out between you two and you both still get a divorce? You won’t have a job, and you’ll be alone—”
“Then I’ll deal with it if that time comes!” You exclaimed, eyes filled with rage and hands balled up into fists by your side. “I know you’re doing this because you don’t like Jungkook and nothing will make you happier than to have me all to yourself but—”
“Oh my god,” Jaehyun sighs frustratingly. “Jungkook is not the reason, I’m doing this for you and Minho only. Just think about it, please!” He was now shouting back as well. “He’ll have a better education there, and you’re salary will be doubled. You’ll even have a nice penthouse in our company’s new building that’ll be fully paid off. Life will be better there—”
“That’s enough, Jaehyun.” You interrupted him, standing up from your seat so that you were now eye-level with him. “I’ll just save you the trouble and give you my verbal resignation right now.”
You turned and headed towards the door but stopped when Jaehyun suddenly called for you. “Wait,” turning around, you watched as he then walked up to you and handed you a thin file. “Just think about it, alright? Everything you need to know about the transfer is in here.”
You sighed, your harden eyes softening when seeing the hopeful glint shining in his own ones.“Fine...”
Taking the file, you glanced at him one last time before stepping out of his office and leaving.
Tumblr media
Jungkook couldn’t help but admire the sight across from him through the clear class window. Standing inside the recording booth with a microphone against his lips and headphones over his head, he watched as Minho sat and bounced on Jimin’s lap while playing on his phone.
Jungkook could tell they were taking pictures judging from the funny facial expressions they both were doing.
“Alright, I think you’re done.” Namjoon spoke up from behind the glass, turning off all the devices. “Good job.”
Jungkook nodded, removing his headphones before stepping out of the small booth. Before he could even fully close the door Minho was already running up to him and flashing Taehyung’s phone at him. “Look appa, look at the pictures me and samchon took together?”
Glancing down and squinting at the screen, Jungkook chuckled at the different pictures of his son and his hyung, some were filters that changed the appearance of their faces and some were just of them doing silly facial expressions. “Those are funny, bubs.”
“So, Jungkookie.” Jimin spoke up, gaining everyone’s attention. “What are your plans for tonight after you leave?
“Nothing, really.” Jungkook answered, shaking his head. “Probably get some Chinese food on the way home, eat, and then go to bed most likely. We’re all pretty exhausted after the flight.”
Namjoon nodded, “Well, I’m happy you two are starting to work things out.”
“You just better not fuck things up again...” Jimin mumbled underneath his breath but was still loud enough for the youngest member to hear.
Jungkook instantly covered his son’s ears with his hands and glared back at him before whispering, “I won’t, hyung. I won’t mess things up again—and no swearing in front of Minho.”
Jimin pursed his lips and held his hands up in surrender, earning a small giggle from Minho.
“Well, it’s getting late so we better get home.” Jungkook then spoke up, “I’m hungry and I know you are too, bubs—”
Suddenly, the sound of someone knocking interrupted Jungkook, making him stare at his two hyungs confusingly. “Are you two expecting anyone?” And when they both shook their heads, he glanced down at Minho and patted his head. “Stay with your samchons, okay?”
“Okay, appa.” Minho listened without any trouble, running over to sit back down on Jimin’s lap.
“I’ll go check it out,” Jungkook says before leaving the room and making his way towards the studio’s entrance. When approaching the door, he was expecting it to be one of the staff or maybe one of his hyungs. But he certainly wasn’t expecting to see the one person he never wanted to see again standing in the middle of doorway.
“Y-Yeonha,” stuttering out, Jungkook stared at the girl who stood in front of him with teary eyes and trembling hands. “What are you doing here?”
“W-We need to talk, Jungkook.”

Love Me A Little Less: Chapter 3 - Her Father’s Daughter

LOVE ME A LITTLE LESS CHAPTER MASTERLIST
Member: (3rd person pov) arranged marriage au with Lee Juyeon
Genre: angsty wangsty

“You want the luxury of a choice? I’ll give one to you right now, so you better make the right one.”
Tumblr media
“Now, this just coming in-- The next director of Apple-Korea, Lee Juyeon and Hera’s Princess, Kim Jang Won... have been reportedly dating for almost three years now!”
“No!”
“Yes! And get this: this wedding? It’s been on the planning table for almost 6 months!”
Lee Juyeon peers out the window as the car slows to a halt, hazel brown orbs scanning the traffic outside. Multiple LED screens on the sides of corporate buildings were broadcasting the news. The crinkling of a plastic wrapper ruins the beauty the amount of shock amongst the community was bringing Juyeon, cuing him to turn back and face his fellow passenger. The sight of Kim Jang Won awakens his corporate-thinking brain, processing the gravity of the news she falsely put out just about... five minutes ago.
“Your father just climbed out of his own grave and you wouldn’t give him half a day to busk in the spotlight, huh?”
“Mm,” She hums, gracefully taking a bite out of the fruit-yoghurt bar. “I would’ve given him a lifetime worth of spotlight if he came back as a zombie and there would be some sign of actual death but-- nah, he’s been alive since the day we thought he all dropped dead from that heart attack of his. God knows where he’s been the last two years, hiding and letting me build HERA & ARTEMIS... only to take it away from me?” She shakes her head, smacking her lips and taking another bite. “Not a chance.”
Juyeon laughs through his exhales, unsure whether he’s more in disbelief he’s trapped in this chaos or how poised Jang Won’s uncouthness in handling this situation was. His phone buzzes, and he coyly pulls it out to check the message in the screen amongst all the other stupid headlines.
Young Jin Seol [12.52pm] : You’ve been schedule for a meeting with The Board at 4pm later, sir.
He locks the device and slides it back into the inner breast pocket of his blazer. “I assume your brother is taking this better than you?”
“Excuse you, I think I’m taking this much better than most people expected me to. Well, better than I expected myself to,” The wrapper crinkles when she finishes it. The car drives up into the entrance of her mansion, easily dozens of reporters already beginning to pillow the car.
“I have a meeting with The Board later at 4pm. Will you be present?” Juyeon raises a brow, watching Jang Won slide on her sunglasses. Her blue fingernails glimmer as she carefully folds the wrapper, using her tongue to dig the crevices of her mouth.
“Of course, why wouldn’t I be, hubby?” She offers a seductive smirk, then unbuckles her seatbelt to lean across to him. Sliding the folded plastic wrapper into his breast pocket, Jang Won presses her cherry lips onto his, earning incessant flashes and shouts from outside the car.
“Mm, I can still taste the wine and the tad bit of salt you got left from lunch with your Mommy and Daddy.”
Juyeon frowns, gritting his teeth as she pulls away and exits the car on her side. The shouts and questions directed at her are muffled when she slams the car shut, her bodyguards from the mansion rushing down the steps to create a pathway for her.
The car finally drives off, and Juyeon can’t help but to sneer in disgust at the cherry shade left on his lips. The grimace on his face nearly earns a snigger from his driver.
“What? Funny?”
“On the contrary, sir,” He eyes Juyeon through the rear mirror. “I think she’s rather charming.”
Juyeon nearly chokes on his saliva, pulling out a napkin from one of the seat’s back pockets. “‘Charming’ my ass. She’s a dangerous woman and I’m just keeping myself alive.”
BREAKING: LEE JUYEON AND KIM JANG WON TO BE PRESENT AT THE BOARD’S PRESS CONFERENCE AT 4PM LATER THIS AFTERNOON
Mr Ro has the most disapproving look on his face as Jang Won pridefully pushes her way into the entrance hall, heels clacking against the marble and smiling widely at her butler. But of course, her brother shows up from the hallway, clearly dissatisfied.
“What the Hell’s wrong with you? You can’t run off like that and lying to the media!”
“Oh, please. This is nothing. Hey! Can I get my wardrobe and hairstylist down soon? I want to look nothing less of Kylie Jenner at her mother’s funeral at my own press conference!”
“It is exactly because I know you’re just getting started that I think you should stop,” Younghoon quickens his steps, reaching out and grabbing her arm. “You are not only pulling our family into this - you are pulling the Lee family into this.”
“Well, hey! I wasn’t the one who put their son up for sale when the offer came along!”
“But Lee Juyeon didn’t even want to be a part of this! He had no choice because his parents made it for him!”
“And did I?!” Jang Won’s near-shriek echoes through the halls. Mr Ro winces, gently shutting his eyes to regulate the surprise. “You say that of him as if I had a choice. I didn’t want dad to die. I didn’t want to take HERA & ARTEMIS. You think I wanted to spend all those nights and days and shitty bar hangouts with rich people trying to get them to sponsor and invest in HERA & ARTEMIS? Hell, no!”
She tears her wrist out from Younghoon’s grasp, shoving him back by pushing against his left shoulder. “Maybe you don’t know how shitty it feels because all you had to do was wait for HERA & ARTEMIS to become successful enough before you could build your stupid entertainment company. But right now, I’m fighting for what I created; for what I made, and I will tell you right here and right now that I am not stopping until I get what I fucking own so you better... and I really, really, really hope you make the right decision when I say you better pick a side.”
Her brother remains frozen in some kind of resignation as she closes the gap toward him. “Just because we share the same last name, doesn’t mean I will spare you, Kim Younghoon. You want the luxury of a choice? I’ll give one to you right now, so you better make the right one.”
Jang Won turns on her heels and strides past Mr Ro to the stairs, walking up to the second floor where she would spend the next 3 hours getting pampered and fitted for her press conference as the new bride of Lee Juyeon.
Tumblr media
The smile Lee Juyeon has on his face looked like it was programmed; sculpted onto a stone statue; frozen in time. His father almost cannot look at it - even through the television screen, he knows it’s fake. He knows Juyeon hates it.
But Hera’s Princess couldn’t care less. Why would she? She’s getting what she wanted, or at least, part of it. Now that she’s got Lee Juyeon playing the game by her rules, she’s one step nearer to her goal, and that’s to win back HERA & ARTEMIS from her own father.
The jewel sitting on her left ring finger shone brightly with every flash a certain camera in the room went off. The Blue Nile Round Diamond 30-carat ring could blind someone if she deliberately shone its reflection into someone’s eyes.
“Today, The Board invites the next director of Apple-Korea and his newly announced fiancé, also known as Hera’s Princess and current owner of HERA & ARTEMIS to our monthly press conference of May. We warmly welcome Lee Juyeon and Kim Jang Won.”
The reporters and journalists provide a rather generous round of applause as Juyeon steps up the platform and takes his seat, Jang Won on his left with the brightest, sweetest smile he’s seen on her in the last six hours.
“Thank you. We’re absolutely honoured to be here today, my fiancé and I. Today, we announce our upcoming plans up till the end of the year, assuming my father still grants me some kind of authority to HERA & ARTEMIS,” She scoffs the last part of her sentence away, earning some scattered chuckles from the crowd. It irks Juyeon, the way he knows she’s being sarcastic and her words are filled with nothing but the poison of hatred and yet these people can’t hear it for the love of God.
Sympathy, he feels. For a short, fleeting moment, he feels sad for her.
“But otherwise, my father and I have agreed on a major reform of HERA & ARTEMIS.”
Juyeon’s eyes light up, not from enthusiasm, but anxious anticipation.
“Before my father is to take full ownership of HERA & ARTEMIS by June, firstly, we will have our wedding in April,” Coyly grabbing Juyeon’s hands and showing them off to the audience, rings around their fingers. “And secondly, after my fiancé advances to director, Apple-Korea will buy 50% of HERA & ARTEMIS.”
The effort Juyeon was investing into hiding his shock, confusion and frustration in his chest was of immense, ground-breaking magnitude. His grip around her hand tightens, and she tightens her jaw, forcing out a smile when the reporters and journalists break out into murmurs and surprised exchanges.
“My brother, Kim Younghoon, will assume full ownership of Artemis as a separate entertainment company, no longer attached to HERA & ARTEMIS. Artemis will become a collaborator or partner, no longer a subsidiary.”
The panel of officials from The Board looked extremely restless from the corner of Juyeon’s eyes, and he finds trouble in deciding which to offer more attention to: the fact that one single person was intelligent enough to send the entire world of The Board into chaos, or the fact that she was already making use of him even before he assumed the role of director.
Her fingers are now interlocked with his, resting on the table as the camera flashes go off, illuminating the room every other second.
THE BOARD’S MAY PRESS CONFERENCE:
LEE-KIM WEDDING IN APRIL, LEE JUYEON TO ASSUME DIRECTOR OF APPLE-KOREA IN MAY AND BUY 50% OF HERA & ARTEMIS, KIM JO-PIL TO ASSUME OWNERSHIP OF THE OTHER 50% IN JUNE, KIM YOUNGHOON TO ASSUME FULL OWNERSHIP OF ARTEMIS AFTER DETACHMENT, “ARTEMIS TO BECOME PARTNER OR COLLABORATOR”, KIM JANG WON SAYS
Younghoon’s inhales sharply, standing and frowning at the television screen after finally being unable to contain his shock. The reflection off the pool outside his living room paints inconsistent waves on his ceiling, the sound of pool water wading being the only thing he can hear besides the commotion from the broadcasted press conference.
Scoffing aggressively, he covers his mouth and drags his fingers down to his chin, pulling on his skin and pursing his lips into a thin, white line.
“Father, you have made the grave mistake of underestimating your daughter,” Younghoon smiles, then grins widely, somehow proud. “Her father’s daughter after all.”
Jang Won’s smile beams throughout the room, and for a split second Juyeon is mesmerized by it. Her eyes have been planted with the horrors of nightmares and terrible myths combined and yet there was something about that smile that made him think ‘Maybe being your fiance wouldn’t be too bad’.
“Before we open up the floor to the invited reporters and journalists, would Mr Lee like to say anything?” One of the officials from The Board finally gets up, hiding his confusion and anxiety behind his polite, service smile.
Lee Juyeon sits up straight in his seat, thumb gently massaging hers as he resumes the act. Jang Won’s service smile remains coded into her lips, eyes loving as she turns to him.
The whole world is watching, Juyeon. He thinks. The whole world is watching you put up this act, being in love with Hera’s Princess - arguably the most cunning name tied to The Board. Choose her and she’ll give you what you want. Choose otherwise and who knows what will happen?
“Mr Lee?”
“I think my fiancé has said everything that’s on my mind, haven’t you, love?” Juyeon smiles sweetly, eyes folding into long, thin lines. The curl of her lips are of triumph when she knows he’s bought into what she offered him; what she promised him. She cannot do this without him and he knows this, but what better way than to assert his authority than to pair up with the most powerful female in this shitty world?
Kim Younghoon’s eyes widen, fingers digging deep into the material of the cushion on his sofa as he watches Juyeon remove his hands from Jang Won’s, instead cupping her cheeks and bringing her face to his.
Mr Ro strides past the first guestroom, hearing the sound of the news playing on the television in the room. He looks through the gap of the door that was left ajar, cautiously watching Kim Jo-Pil nervously swirling a glass of whiskey in his hands as the next director of Apple-Korea tilts his head, on screen.
“Play along, would you?” He whispers, and Jang Won’s pride surges when he presses his lips into hers. The floor of reporters and journalists erupt into questions and cameras go off like Donald Trump had just been shot dead.
Kim Jo-Pil freezes, watching the whole press conference room light up with fluorescent flashes. But Mr Ro can’t help the jolt when Kim Jo-Pil deliberately flings the glass into the floor, pieces flying across the wooden flooring.
“She’s her father’s daughter after all, sire.”

Stray Kids Reaction: S/o Falls Back Into Old Habits
A/n: so this is a more serious request! if any of my readers feel like they need to talk to someone (whether about this or not) my messages are always open to anyone and everyone. Also this did get a little personal for me, (Jisung’s is based on my personal experience)

Bangchan:
Tumblr media
You had a history of not making the healthiest choices when it came to weight loss. It was a secret you kept to yourself. A secret you thought you wouldn’t have to deal with again. But, life sometimes throws stuff at you, and you can't help but fall back into old habits.
You knew Chan adored you. That didn’t mean hate comments got any easier to read. It was almost impossible to avoid them. Chan was always in the public eye, so it wasn’t long before your relationship was outed. At first, it was fine. Most of the Stray Kids fans accepted you; they wanted Chan happy.
Eventually, after all the commotion died down, anti-fans started to surface. They had found old pictures of you from high school and posted them with cruel comments. It was difficult with Chan away from home so much. You felt like you were alone, with no one to help guide you away from the dark places the comments were leading you towards.
The old pictures resurfacing reminded you of how you used to look when you were younger. It was easy to see the change in your body weight. You had started working through lunch. It was a simple excuse. It wasn’t a lie that your workload had doubled over the past week, though Chan was upset you skipped a meal, he understood.
But your old mentality started to creep back in. The next meal to go was breakfast. Chan was usually gone before you got up so he didn’t notice. What he did notice was you slowly losing your appetite at dinner. At first, he thought you were just a little sick. He made sure to stock up on medicine next time he picked up groceries. However, in your mind, you still weren’t losing the weight you wanted fast enough. Knowing Chan would freak if you stopped eating dinner you decided to hide a bottle of diet pills behind a couple shoeboxes at the top of your closet.
“Hey, Y/n? You wanna order a pizza?” Chan called from your bedroom. A pizza sounded divine. The sound of your stomach rumbling made you feel guilty. There was no way you would ruin this streak just for a pizza.
“Umm...you can! I ate a little earlier.” You called back. There was a moment of silence. You figured he was just picking up some dirty laundry or something.
“Baby, when did you eat? You didn’t have lunch with me and-”
Chan’s voice stopped all of a sudden. “I didn’t what?” You asked flipping through your phone. You frowned yet again coming across some hate comments. Sighing you tossed your phone onto the other side of the couch. “Babe?” You called still not hearing back from your boyfriend. Looking up you found Chan standing in the hallway holding a familiar white bottle in his hands.
“What the hell is this?”
Chan was angry. He was more than angry. He was pissed. He looked hurt when he tossed the bottle to you. “They are just diet pills, Chan.” His teeth dragged across his lip and his hands came to rest on his hips.
“No. Only half the bottle is left! Y/n this is dangerous. I know you’ve been skipping meals!” You flinched as Chan raised his voice. He noticed and came over to you. His hands wrapped around yours, shaking a little bit. “Y/n....I’m scared for you....I’ve been scared for you. You won’t talk to me. I know about the hate and the meals, but this? Baby. You’ve gotta talk to me.”
You looked at your boyfriend crouched in front of you, holding back tears. “Chan...it was just hard not to go back to bad habits. I’m so sorry.” Tears fell from his eyes hearing you speak. He dropped his head into your lap, still holding your hands tightly. He looked up, eyes puffy and red. His lips pressed against the back of my hand.
“I’m with you, yeah? I love you. I’m not going to let you do this alone.”
Minho:
Tumblr media
Being a model was one of the best jobs you had ever had. It wasn’t as easy as everyone thought. You had great expectations put on you. At any given moment your agency could call you and say that you needed to drop fifteen pounds and chop off half your hair and you would have to do it to keep your contract.
Minho was used to your crazy weight-loss diets and coming home to you running on the treadmill with six coats on. He trusted you to be safe with whatever you were doing. He always checked in on you, even when he was away on tour.
Little texts making sure you were alright. Facetimes before he went to sleep. But, it was better having Mino home with you. Thankfully he would be home for the next six months.
The blare of your ringtone woke you up from a deep sleep. Minho was still sound asleep next to you and two of the cats were snuggled up at the foot of the bed. Seeing the agency as the caller id, you picked it up. They gave you the requirements for the job as well as the deadline. “Next week!” You exclaimed trying to keep Minho from waking up.
After a few more exchanged words you hung up the phone and lay in bed. “Twenty pounds?” You whispered to yourself. There was absolutely no way you could do this in time without not being healthy. But, the pay day was huge. There was no way you could pass up this gig if you wanted to make rent this month. The only problem would be Minho. He would totally scream at you if he found out you weren’t being healthy losing the weight.
Hell, the weight they wanted you to be wasn’t exactly healthy either. Your boyfriend stirred next to you, wrapping an arm around your middle. The next week you did everything possible to lose the weight. You skipped meals and you practically lived at the gym.
“Babe, have you eaten yet?” Minho said over the phone. He spoke to you on speakerphone as you ran with a hoodie on the treadmill in your apartment. You were three days away from your deadline with still five pounds left to lose.
“Yeah,” You said out of breath. Lie. “I ate a big salad a couple hours ago.” Another lie. You hadn’t eaten anything in the last seventy-four hours. He sighed over the phone. “What’s wrong, Minho?”
“Y/n we ran out of lettuce like two days ago, babe.”
Letting out a nervous laugh, you turned off the treadmill. “Minho.... I-uh...I ordered one-” You heard the line click. He hung up. “Oh fuck.” You said head in your hands. You shed the jacket and raced to your closet. You grabbed one of Minho’s big sweaters and threw it over your head. About ten minutes later the front door opened, Minho storming in throwing his stuff on the counter. “Hey! Did management let you off early-”
Without a word, he grabbed your wrist and pulled you out of the apartment. The next thing you knew you were walking up the stairs of your agency. The two of you blew past your boss’s secretary. “What the fuck, man!?” Minho screamed bursting into my boss’s office. “Do realize you are driving my girlfriend slowly off a cliff? She could kill herself just trying to meet your expectations! LITERALLY.”
Your boss was completely shocked. He was at a loss for words. “This is not on Y/n. This is on you for making her feel like she ever had to feel like she had to use such drastic measure simply to please your patriarchal sexist ass.” You felt like crying seeing Minho defend you. It was true. It was your choice to skip meals, but mostly out of fear of the termination of your contract.
“Sir-”
“No. I don’t think you know who I am. One word from me to the press could ruin you in this industry for the rest of your life.” Your boss stayed silent. Clearly fearing for his reputation. “Now, you are going to let Y/n end her contract, with full compensation, on the grounds of employee abuse.” Minho narrowed his eyes, completely furious. “Got it?”
He nodded and Minho took your hand in his and led you out of the office. “Thank you, Min.” You whispered, kissing his shoulder.
“You’ve got to tell me, babe. I’m not gonna stand by while you are forcing yourself through this.”
Changbin:
Tumblr media
Changbin wasn’t the most observant man on the planet. But, it was very hard to slip anything past him when it came to you. His job was demanding and took up far more of his time than either of you would like,  but the man was clingy even from a distance.
You just dropped him off at the airport not four hours ago and he was already facetiming you. With Changbin gone, your apartment felt empty. The days seemed to blur together. Days flooded into nights and nights blended into early mornings. You were sad and missed him a lot. So you did the best thing you could think of to distract yourself was throw yourself into your work.
The tour was nowhere near its end and you were bringing more and more work home. You got into the bad habit of skipping meals and you barely ate anything for dinner, choosing instead to work. Most nights you fell asleep at your desk, having not eaten anything all day.
Changbin would call at all hours of the night, so caught up in tour life he had forgotten that it was three am where you were. You didn’t mind, however, the calls always ended with you missing him even more. If things were really bad you would go down to the bakery and eat an entire cake by yourself only to refuse food for the rest of the week.
“I’m so lonely here without you,” You said to the glow of your laptop screen. Changbin’s face filled the screen. He was barefaced and had a hoodie covering his messy hair. Seeing your boyfriend even just through a facetime call was a godsend. “It’s been really hard keeping it together. When are you coming home?”
He sighed. Clearly, he wasn’t handling the distance well either. “Four days.” Your head dropped into your hands. Four days. You could handle four more days. The question was could your body handle four more days? “Sweetie, you don’t look too good. Are you sure you are taking care of yourself?” Changbin looked seriously worried.
The internal struggle of whether to tell him or not was evident.
“Y/n, you can tell me anything. I’m worried about you.”
Your fingers raked through your hair. Changbin let out an anxious sigh. He knew silence from you was a bad sign. “I haven’t exactly been eating well lately.” His face grew somber.
“How not exactly?”
“Like....at all.”
“Y/n!” Changbin exclaimed. You were sure that he had woken up whatever boy he was sharing a room with. He broke seeing the shame on your face. How he had not noticed sooner was shameful to him. Your face was starting to sink in and dark circles lay under your eyes. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I didn’t want to bring up past problems I had and worry you with them. They are mine to deal with.”
Changbin shook his head. “I want to share your problems, sweetie. Your problems are mine and I’m glad to take them.” He paused simply looking at you with care. “Do you want me to come home? I’ll be on the first flight out?”
“I can’t make you do that. The boys and STAY need you.”
“You need me more right now.”
Hyunjin:
Tumblr media
Your mother was lapping you. She was getting married twice. You weren’t even married once! It didn’t help at all that your mother was one of the most judgemental living on the planet. All her friends were a close second. She had been hounding you for years to get a boyfriend. She was always nagging on you to settle down and give her grandchildren.
Hyunjin coming into your life was the best thing that had ever happened to you. He made you feel fully yourself and even helped you out of some really bad habits that your mother had gotten you into. Hyunjin slowly helped you rebuild your self-esteem and you loved him more every day for it.
“Y/n, last time I saw you it looked like you had been putting on quite a bit of weight. I’ve already sent you the dress I want you wearing and you need to fit in it by the wedding. Am I clear?” The shrill voice of your mother filled the room. Why did you put her on speakerphone again? You looked at the lilac colored dress you were holding in the mirror. “Y/n?”
“Yes, mother. I understand.” There was no way you were fitting into this. She sent it to you this morning and the wedding was nine days away. It wasn’t surprising she pulled something like this. She always had impossible standards to hold you too. Having enough of your mother, you hung up the phone.
With a sigh, you grabbed the dress and tried to put it on. It was by far the most unflattering garment you had ever worn. You couldn’t close the zipper and it emphasized all the wrong places on your body. You could barely breathe in the tight fabric. Wiping stressed tears from your face, you shedded the frock. The choice of never giving down your mother's complaints or simply wearing a different dress were pounding against your skull.
If only Hyunjin wasn’t still on a dating ban. Then you could tell your mother how happy you were with him and she would stop hounding about your weight and appearance. But, that wasn’t the case. Only eight more months. Eight more months and you could shout about Hyunjin from the rooftops without a care. Until then, you had to lose a lot of weight as soon as possible.
As much as it hurt you to go behind Hyunjin’s back, you returned to your old habits, skipping most of your meals. It was easy to hide at first. Hyunjin would come home late from practice, so he didn’t find it unusual for you to have ‘eaten’ before him.
However, what wasn’t normal, was you getting dizzy spells. But you were so close to fitting in that dress you couldn't stop. Hyunjin was lounging on the couch, flipping through random channels. The edge of your vision started to blur out, making you clutch the counter for balance. Taking some deep breaths you focused on centering yourself. “Baby, you okay?” Hyunjin said, his voice laced with concern. He was already making his way over to you, hand finding the small of your back.
You pushed away from the counter to respond to your boyfriend, but your knees buckled under you. Hyunjin caught you, pulling you into his chest. “Oh shit- Y/n, baby. Look at me. How many fingers am I holding up?” Hyunjin held up three long fingers that looked more like five or six. You groaned, leaning into him.
Hyunjin, slightly panicking, pulled you over to the couch and laid you down. You watched him pick up his phone ready to dial emergency services. “Jinnie! No! Don’t. Really, I’m fine. It was just a dizzy spell.” He narrowed his eyes at you.
“You haven't had a dizzy spell since-” His words caught in his throat and he turned to you in shock. “Y/n...when was the last time you ate.” Your hands covered your face, rubbing your temples.
“I had a ramen cup. Don’t worry.”
Hyunjin involuntarily rolled his eyes letting out a frustrated huff. “I didn’t say what. I said ‘when’. ‘When’, Y/n!” He sighed seeing you struggle to think back on the past few days.
“I think....like two and a half days ago?” Hyunjin sighed, picking up his phone again. He walked into another room and returned about ten minutes later. You watched him walk to the kitchen and grab a Gatorade from the fridge. He placed it in front of you just as the doorbell rang. He ran a hand through his blonde hair as he took a huge bag from a man at the door.
“Eat. Drink.” He said placing the bag of takeout in front of you. He unwrapped the food and twisted the cap off the drink, placing it in your hand and lap. He had a worried look on his face as he watched you begin to eat. “I called your mom.”
You immediately started choking on the food, giving Hyunjin yet another panic attack. “You WHAT?”
“I told her about us. I know the wedding and all her expectation is what is causing you stress. I told her to add me to the guest list and that you’re showing up in whatever you want to wear and that she better not say one word about it or else she’ll hear some choice words from me.”
Your eyes softened and you wrapped your arms around his neck. He nuzzled his face in your hair letting out a staggered sigh. “Anytime you feel like that, you’ve got to come tell me. I hurt when you hurt. I hurt even more when you try to keep me from helping you.”
Jisung:
Tumblr media
Your stomach growled. In the past three days, you had eaten nothing but a couple crackers and a few pieces of cheese. College had been really rough on you lately. Classes were tough and you had resorted to stress eating while Jisung was away and working. It was even worse when he went off on tour.
Without him around your self-esteem was at an all time low. In your mind, it was only a matter of time before Jisung came back with a girl who was much prettier, much skinnier, and just....better...than you. It wasn’t easy to tell Jisung this. You had never really been great at talking about your feelings.
The sound of your cell phone buzzed against the kitchen counter. It was almost midnight so only one person could be texting you. Your hands swiped through the notifications until you could read the message. Jisung.
Hey bb! <3 Gonna be home late. So sorry :( don't wait up for me
You sighed and grabbed a water bottle from the fridge. Your boyfriend was right, as much as you hated to admit it. There was no point in waiting up for him. The edge of your vision started to blur out so you shook your head and blinked a few times. “A hot shower would probably do me some good.” You said to the empty apartment.
Tossing your clothes in the hamper, you walked in your underwear into the bathroom and turned on the shower. Suddenly you felt dizzy, heat flooding the small room, fogging up the mirror. Your head started to spin. The orientation of the room seemed to flip upside down. You grabbed at anything knowing you were going to fall any second. The shower curtain came down with you, your head banging against the shower wall and then against the bathtub.
Black clouded your vision as hot water pelted down on you from the showerhead.
Jisung turned the lock of your shared apartment at about two in the morning. The first thing he noticed was the lights in the kitchen and bedroom were still on. He tossed his bag on the counter and set his phone down beside it. “Baby? You still up?” He called into the apartment. “Y/n?” He asked hearing the shower running.
He gently wrapped his knuckles on the door. After a few minutes of not hearing a reply, he started to get a little worried. “Y/n? Babe.” Slowly he pushed open the door and peeked his head into the bathroom. His eyes widened seeing you passed out shower curtain falling on top of you. “OH SHIT!”
Jisung burst into the bathroom and threw the shower curtain away from your unconscious body. He shut off the water and cradled your head away from the shower wall. As gently as he could he picked you up and set you on the bed the both of you shared. “Fuck. My phone. Where’s my phone?” Jisung scrambled, running out of the bedroom. He was frantic.
“911. What is your emergency?” The calm voice of the operator spoke to him.
“My girlfriend. She uh--....fuck. She fell in the shower. I don’t know. I just came home. I think she hit her head.” Jisung ran a stressed hand through his hair, his feet carrying him back to the bedroom. He nodded at the operator's instructions and kept them on the phone as he grabbed one of his shirts from your closet to cover you up.
The paramedics arrived and loaded you up in an ambulance. Your heavy eyes opened slowly and you looked around the back of the emergency vehicle. It hurt to turn your head, which was still making you feel dizzy. Jisung sat beside you, holding your hand tightly, head down, and tears falling down his cheeks. “Jisung...” You croaked out.
His head shot up and he didn’t even bother trying to hide his tears. “Baby! Oh, thank god! Y/n you scared me half to death! What the hell happened?” He held your hand tightly, kissing along your knuckles.
“I’m so sorry, Ji....I only meant to skip a couple meals. I thought...I thought I had it under control.” You continued to ramble trying to make sure the words were coming out the way you wanted. Jisung looked heartbroken next to you.
“Y/n....you can’t...fuck...I love you so much. You’ve gotta tell me this stuff, okay?” He said choking up. You had never seen him so upset, so broken. “I can’t lose you. You’re perfect to me always.” You nodded, tears falling down your own cheeks.
“I’m so sorry-...I’m so sorry. I should have told you...”
Felix:
Tumblr media
After being a trainee since you were fourteen, you had picked up an unhealthy mindset about your body image. The weekly weigh-ins your company put you through always had you watching your weight down to the ounce. There had been several incidents regarding your health and some unhealthy weight choices, thankfully they hadn’t been leaked to the press and your company covered it up. Felix had been your friend since you debuted and you had been dating for almost a year and a half. The two of you kept it a secret since both of you were still under a dating ban. Felix was always there for you when you needed him. Even if that meant him coming to find you in a broom closet because you were having a rough time and needed a hug.
Comeback season was always a rough time for the both of you. His group was busy, your group was busy. There was hardly any time to see each other. Promotions were even worse, especially for you. You felt like you had to constantly watch what you were eating since there were cameras all around you. You limited you food intake to one small meal a day, choosing to drink lots of weight loss shakes and water instead. Your secret diet plan had been working for years. You hadn’t had an incident since debut.
Your stomach growled as you looked in the mirror. “Y/n, did you eat?” Your leader asked brushing extra blush across her cheeks. You shook your head, knowing your voice would waver if you tried to lie.
“I’ll get something after the performance.”
The sound of other performances were playing on the music shows backstage TV. The skirt you were wearing was squeezing your stomach the fabric unbearably tight. “Girls, you’re up next! Stray Kids is after you. Backstage in two.” A stagehand said popping into the room then quickly exited. The members of your group started filing out of the room, heading backstage.
Stray Kids were waiting backstage already. You waved at Felix in the dark as you all came to stand next to them. You felt yourself get hot all of sudden and the room was beginning to tilt. The heels you were wearing made it a little more difficult for you to catch your balance.
You felt a hand on your back, steadying you. Felix appeared behind you, a concerned expression on his handsome face. “You okay, darling?” You nodded and brushed a bead of sweat from your forehead.
“Yeah. Just got a little dizzy for a second.”
Felix still looked concerned but gave you a quick kiss on the cheek after making sure no one was looking. “I’ll see you after your performance, darling.” He whispered in your ear before sending you onstage. Your group got in position and started performing your new song. Your head was spinning and you felt like you were going to pass out under the white hot stage lights.
The lyrics to your part of the song came out breathy as you danced in the center. It was evident you weren’t giving your one hundred percent, but you smiled through the pain you were feeling. You let your face fall as you transitioned to the back. If you could just hold on until the song was over.
In the middle of the dance break, your body couldn’t take it anymore. Your eyes rolled back in your head and you crumpled onto the floor, your body had been running on zero fuel for too long and gave out. The gasps of the audience stopped the performance and your group members froze in place. You felt someone run next to you and turn you over. You dazed eyes looked up to see Felix, fear plastered all over his face.
“We need to get her to the hospital.” Your leader said ushering the two of you off stage. Felix carried you in his arms until you were resting on the hospital bed, still in your stage clothes. Felix and your leader sat in the room with you while the doctors ran several tests. They hooked an IV up to your arm and waited for the doctor to return.
“So, who are you again?” The doctor asked pointing to Felix and your leader. She introduced herself, but before she could say anything else Felix interrupted her.
“I’m Felix, Y/n’s boyfriend. What going on, doctor?” She turned to you with wide eyes pointing at Felix. You motioned to her and an unspoken promise was made that you would talk about it later. She gave you a stern motherly look before turning back to what the doctor was saying.
“Well. She is severely malnourished. Her blood sugar and iron are dangerously low.” Felix put his head in his hands, clearly upset. “I’m seeing in her records this has occurred before?” Felix nodded reached for your hand. “Well, I want her to stay here until the IV is drained and someone should make sure she is eating and resting well.” The doctor wrote out a copy of meds and instructions for both Felix and your leader.
You watched Felix listen intensely on everything the doctor said about your health, taking notes of his own. Eventually, the doctor and your leader left the room. “Darling...I should have figured it out when you said you were dizzy. I’m so sorry. I should have- Fuck, I saw the sign and I didn’t do anything.” He rested his head in his hands clearly upset. You pulled him over to you and wrapped your arms around him.
“Thank you, for being here for me. That’s all I need.” You kissed the top of his head and buried your face in his neck.
Seungmin:
Tumblr media
You could tell Seungmin anything. You had been best friends before you started dating and were basically inseparable. There was only one thing Seungmin didn’t know about you, your history with not so healthy weight loss methods. In highschool like most students, your self esteem was a soul sucking bottomless pit.
Every insecurity was brought to light by your cruel peers. Feeling broken you sought comfort looking magazines filled with beautiful women. Beautiful skinny women. Your desire to be like them grew stronger as you grew older. At first, you only skipped meals when extra work needed to be done. To you, there was no bad consequence at the time. Not only would you lose a little weight but you would get more accomplished.
Then skipping meals became a regular thing. You would usually get dinner with Seungmin most nights but still ate light. Seungmin paid no mind to it, assuming you were eating healthy during the day.
After a few months, he noticed you were extremely thin to an unhealthy degree. Seungmin was hesitant to ask you about it at first. You were an adult and could take care of yourself. He also didn’t want to come off as clingy and intrusive, but he was really worried about you to the point where he would lose sleep wondering if you had actually eaten that day and lied to him over a phone call.
Soon, he had enough. “Y/n, be honest with me.” He exclaimed one day while he was over at your apartment. You stopped mid-sip of water and turned to your boyfriend. “You’re skipping meals aren’t you?”
Silence filled the apartment. Every sound seemed to have been amplified. The dripping water of the bathroom faucet, the clock in the kitchen, the fabric of Seungmin’s sweater brushing against the couch. He watched you with determined eyes.
“Are you mad at me?” You asked hesitantly. He let out a heavy sigh taking your hands in his. He looked hurt.
Your boyfriend looked back up at you. He seemed to be studying every detail of your face. The bags under your eyes. The way your cheeks had begun to sink in. “I’m not mad.” He whispered. Seungmin took his time choosing his next words with care. “I’m worried, Y/n. Look at you. You are clearly not healthy. This has gotten out of hand.”
You felt exposed. Raw. Vulnerable. You felt small. Seungmin was right. What you were doing wasn’t healthy. It wasn’t safe, but you couldn’t just stop. It had gotten to the point that you barely had an appetite during normal meal times.
“Min...I can’t just stop. I’m really messed up aren’t I?”
Seungmin pulled you into his chest, resting his head on yours. “No more than anyone else.” He whispered. It felt like a weight lifted off your shoulders knowing that Seungmin knew your secret. You didn’t feel alone anymore. “We can get you the help you need. All I want is for you to be healthy and happy.”
There were a million things you wanted to say to him, but actions seemed to work better. You nodded against his chest, letting your arms fall from around his neck to rest gently over his heart. “I should have told you sooner.” You said softly, listening to his heartbeat.
His fingers softly ran through your hair. “What matters is you told me. I’m not going to let you go through this alone anymore. I’m always here for you, Y/n.”
Jeongin:
Tumblr media
You had recently got a new roommate. A roommate who looked like she walked straight out of a Victoria’s Secret magazine. It didn’t help that she often walked around in her body hugging workout gear. You felt pudgy next to her. She was of course the nicest person on the planet which didn’t make your jealousy decrease any more than it should. In reality, it only grew more.
You wanted what she had. At first, you just started with a diet and exercise. Jeongin was happy to work out with you in the gym. He loved going on night runs with you near the Han river. But, you just weren’t getting the results you wanted. You still looked like a blobfish next to your roommate and were seeing no near progress anytime soon.
The first thing that Jeongin noticed was you stopped letting him come around to your apartment. In your mind the less he saw your roommate the less likely he was to compare you too. Not that he would, but there was always this doubt in the back of your mind.
The second was your dramatic change in demeanor. A cloud of depression seemed to hang over you wherever you went. You were tired and not acting like yourself. Lastly, he noticed you getting thinner and thinner.
You had cut out so many things from your diet that you were basically only eating a few crackers and slices of cheese a couple times a day. You stopped going out to dinner with Jeongin, choosing to go out when you knew you wouldn’t be eating.
He had no idea how to approach you, but he was worried sick. So, he went to the one person he knew he could trust with anything. Chan. He sat done with Chan and told him about everything he was thinking and feeling. After getting advice from his hyung he felt much better about asking you what was going on.
The two of you were on one of your Han river night runs. The pace you were running at was slower than usual. Jeongin made sure to go your speed, picking up on little things he noticed. “Y/n, are you sure you are alright?” He asked, stopping.
You nodded hands resting on your knee. Your chest was tight and your stomach hurt. It felt like hot volcanic air was pressing down on you like an anvil. “I’m fine. I just need a break.” He nodded and crouched down next to you. Not many people were out since it was later in the evening, but Jeongin still kept an eye out for pedestrians who might come by.
“Angel, you don’t look good at all.” He said rubbing your back. “Come sit for a minute.” Not letting you say anything against the notion he dragged you over to a bench and handed you his water bottle. You flinched tasting what was in it. Definitely not water.
“What is this?”
“Don’t worry. It’s got plenty of electrolytes in it. Just drink, angel. You need it.”
Jeongin rubbed your back as you drank from the bottle. “How did you know I needed that?” You questioned still out of breath. You attempted to hand him back the water bottle but he put it back in your hands.
“I know you haven’t been taking care of yourself.”
You sighed head in your hands. “How long have you known?”
He shrugged playing with a bracelet on his wrist. “Maybe a week,” He had known for that long and he hadn’t said anything? Why? He gave you a tight-lipped smile as if reading your thoughts. “I was hoping you would tell me. But, you come first before anything.” He laced his fingers with yours. “Why are you skipping meals, angel?”
You sighed, looking out at the water, feeling much better now. “I was jealous of my roommate. She just is so fit and gorgeous. I feel so inferior next to her.” You hand carded through your messy hair as you looked up at your boyfriend. “Maybe I was...the teensiest bit worried that she might turn your head because of how slender she was.”
“Angel, you are perfect to me. I never want you to change.” He said pressing a kiss to your temple.
Requests are open my lovelies! Just send an ask!

The Arrangement Ch. 18
Tumblr media
Story summary: Desperately in need of money, you answered the questionable ad. AKA-Arranged marriage AU featuring Y/N and Yoongi
Chapter Summary: Part two of the photoshoot
Previous Chapter here
----------- Jimin was right. It was pretty boring. Yoongi would pose with the props, get told to make a certain face. Hold that pose. Switch poses. Touch up make-up and hair. Move slightly, change outfits, repeat. Once the newness wore off, you found yourself just sitting in a chair, watching the images on a screen they had facing you, Bongcha, and Alice.
“He’s getting sweaty. Water break.” You said. At the next cut, you grabbed a water bottle and took it over to the pretend kitchen. He was leaned over the counter, scrolling through his phone.  You placed the water bottle on the countertop in front of him. “Hydrate.”
He stood up. “I thought I was your boss,” He rolled his eyes, but opened the bottle and started drinking it nonetheless.
“I gotta make sure you don’t wilt. Wilty models don’t take good photos. Here,” You handed him a small towel to blot his face.
“Thanks. These lights are hot. We should be about halfway done.” He took another large swig of the bottle, completely emptying it. He handed it to you. “Thanks.”
Bongcha walked over with her make-up apron. “You ready?” She asked him.
“Yep,” He responded. “Hold on,” he pulled out a stool to make his face more accessible. He then sat still as she started to pull out brushes.
You took the now empty water bottle over to the recycling bin and walked over to your prep table. You watched as Bongcha delicately re-applied the eye-makeup and then powdered his face. You saw him say something, the crinkles of his eyes slightly moving into a smile and she laughed. You felt something. Was that...jealousy?
You shook it off. This is an office setting ma’am. They were coworkers. You and Yoongi were coworkers. Even if you lived together and are supposed to start dating. Eventually. Apparently. Even though he hadn’t brought any of that up since your interview and the one time to tease you. You scrolled through your phone for a few seconds to distract yourself.
“Hey,” You heard Alice say as she walked up next to you. “Oh man...Bongcha has such a crush on Yoongi. They look so cute together, don’t you think?”
What was that feeling in your stomach? That nauseous feeling. Jealousy? No. You looked back over. She was reapplying his lip gloss as he pouted out some words and she laughed. Yes. That was jealousy.
You stood there, staring. You couldn’t control your thoughts, but you could control how you reacted to them. You repeated your therapist’s  words as the Director yelled for photography to start again. Bongcha walked over to you and Alice, smiling brightly.
“Heyyyy. I’m going to go grab some coffees. Do either of you want anything?” You asked, needing an excuse to take a break for a few minutes.
“We couldn’t ask you to do that,” Alice politely declined.
“Really it’s fine. I need the caffeine and Yoongi will probably get the shakes since it’s been more than three hours since he last had coffee. I don’t mind.”
“Ok I’ll take an iced latte.” Alice responded.
“Bongcha? Can I get you anything?”
“Sure, I’d love an iced Americano. Here, let me get you some money.”
You smiled tightly. “That’s ok, BigHit will be paying for this round.” You picked up your purse and headed out to get some air and caffeine.
You walked a little further out of your way to Chachacha Tea and Kaffe since you knew Yoongi didn’t like Grindhouse. You took out your phone.
YG: Where are you?
YN: Coffee run for you and the stylists. Do you need something?
YG: Can you grab an outfit from Hoseok on the way back up? They forget to send a piece.
YN: You got it!
--------------------
You returned with the coffees and garment bag perched upon you. Alice was kind enough to grab the drinks from your right hand, leaving you with just the outfit. “Thank you,” you mouthed as the Director was in the middle of giving Yoongi directions. You walked over to the garment rack and unzipped the outfit. It was a green sweater and jeans. Tied around the hanger was a bag with the purple scarf, a silver brooch, and belt. A note was attached: Use with glasses #34 or #56.  No detail left out by Hoseok. You looked back where Yoongi was posing on a chair. Just sitting there. Looking all hot. You rolled your eyes and walked over to the table where Bongcha, Alice, and the coffees were. They had kindly waited for you as you distributed the drinks. You took a sip.
“Cut. Alright, next outfit.” You heard the Director of Photography yell.
“Hey...do you mind if I take this over to Yoongi Oppa?” Bongcha asked, an excited smile on her face.
You felt slightly like the air was knocked out of your lungs but you managed a “No, of course not.”
Bongcha picked up the twin to her coffee and headed over to Yoongi, her long ponytail happily swishing behind her.
“You ok?” Alice asked, sensing your change in demeanor.
“Oh yeah. You know, just my ladytime. Day two is always rough.” You half-lied.
You watched as Bongcha handed Yoongi the coffee. Stupid feelings. You sighed and then headed over to the racks to get the next outfit into the changing room. You didn’t see Yoongi looking for you as Bongcha handed him the coffee.
Yoongi made small talk for a minute and then stood up. He headed over to the dressing room, walking up behind you. “Hey,” he said. Causing you to jump slightly. “Thanks for grabbing this,” he gestured to the outfit,  “and the coffee.”
“Yep,” you forced a smile. “Just doing my job. Alright. Get this on. I have to go grab the glasses from the accessories trunk.” You walked away quickly.
Yoongi looked confused for a second and then went ahead and changed into his last outfit. He was thankful it had only been four hours. Sometimes these shoots ran into the night. He was glad the team was all working so well together.
You walked up to the curtain on the other side of the changing area. “Ok, I have your glasses ready. Hair and make-up are ready to manhandle you some more.” You said before you could stop yourself. You clamped your hand over your mouth. To your surprise you heard Yoongi laughing hard behind the curtain. Hearing him laugh made you smile even though you were in a shitty mood. The curtain opened.
“How does it look?” He asked, jokingly striking a pose. At this point you knew he was trying to make you feel better.
“It’s just ok. I guess. If you’re into looking super hot. Watch out. These girls are oppa hungry enough.”
Yoongi smiled awkwardly and said quietly, “I know, I’m the one they manhandle.”
You returned in a hushed tone, “Oh please, what a terrible problem to have. Your glasses, sir.” You handed him both pairs and then headed back over to the main area.
You picked your coffee back up from the make-up table and watched Alice sit on the couch and hairspray the shit out of Yoongi’s hair while Bongcha reapplied some make-up that had transferred off while he was changing. You felt better, but still weird. The two of them walked back over.
The shoot wrapped up about twenty minutes later. "Thank you everyone for your hard work!" Yoongi said, having changed back into his regular clothes. Everyone clapped. You overheard Alice loudly whispering to Bongcha "Just ask him. Do it. Ask him!"
"Ok ok.” She replied in a hurried tone to her friend.
You felt like you were suddenly in slow motion as Yoongi walked over to you, and Bongcha walked towards Yoongi. You wished yourself invisible, but it didn't work. You were still there, standing in between them, as Bongcha asked, "Hey! Do you want to go out and grab drinks?"
Yoongi could not have been more oblivious, you thought, as he rubbed the back of his neck and said, "No. I need to go wash all this makeup and hairspray off. Good job today, ladies."
You actually felt bad for her. You stood there awkwardly as he turned to you and said, "See you tonight :]" He left the area, leaving the three of you girls standing there.
You cleared your throat and smiled awkwardly. “I’m going to return the clothing pieces to the style department. I’ll see you ladies around. It was nice to meet you.” You wanted to get the hell out of there.
You hung all the clothing back on the hangers, put the accessories in their bags, and the glasses back in the trunk. You rode the elevator alone down to the 6th floor. Ugh. This was so awkward. You felt bad for Bongcha. And then you felt weird. You were jealous. Why? Did you like like Yoongi? You’d known him a week. This was too soon to like somebody, you reasoned with yourself. It was a natural byproduct of spending time together with someone so nice. (You don’t feel this way about Jimin// Quiet brain!) But it was good you like him, because you guys were supposed to get closer. Right? Ugh. This was confusing.
The elevator opened and you walked into the style department. It was dead. Like a sack of deflated rainbows.  Everything was packed up for today. You walked over to the big door and knocked. “Hoseok?” You waited a minute and to your pleasant surprise, he answered the door. Gone was his jacket, but the rest of his sunny outfit remained.
“Hey. I wasn’t sure if anyone from styling was going to come get these so I thought I’d return these myself.”
“Well, aren’t you the most thoughtful thing? Thank you. I was going to come grab them later.” He looked over the pieces, draped a dress shirt over his arm and rubbed the material between his fingers. “How did the shoot go? Did Yoongi really like any of the clothes?”
“It’s Yoongi sooooo…” You shrugged. “Maybe he’ll write a song about one of them and then we’ll know.”
Hoseok laughed, his whole body shaking. “Ok. Well If you had to pick one for him to keep, which would it be?”
“I like the green shirt and jeans. And the brooch. It’s pretty.”
“Noted. Well thank you.” He said in a rare serious moment.
“You’re welcome. Ok, I'm off to make sure the food gets packed up. Did you get some strawberries?”
He smiled, “Yes, I had one of my staff sneak some up here for me.”
“Great. See you,” You waved and turned around. Today had been busy and invigorating and awkward. NEXT CHAPTER  @lidda  @anpanman-sonyeondan   @firefairy1  @cuteipat  @sugaslittlekookies  @janeelizabeth1216 @deeepvibes @gxldenhunny @livelyjay @niniita-ah @bobbyboops @honeysunandsoil @deathkat657
