curious about those women who have extremely rigorous Beauty routines but are very vocally against plastic surgery. like especially when plastic surgery often now means like just a little injection... like I would get lip filler wayyyy before I would apply 15 products every night and I just wouldn't give up bread unless it was medically necessary... Like I'm not totally opposed to there being a distinction between plastic surgery and other beauty interventions but I don't really see what it is.
#i would agree some surgeries are inherently anti feminist#like labioplasty#but not all of them yk#secrets

Talking to some ppl about how horrific labioplasties becoming more normalised is and how it's basically sanitised fgm. The horror of young girls and BABIES being subjected to them because of nonsense hypertrophy diagnosis. How the scars from labia surgery can go on to cause pain and discomfort later in life and how ofc disproportionately male surgeons are more likely to recommend them.
Gendie (ofc) : ppl should talk to sex workers more to understand normal labias better
Literally, where do they think men and others are getting these nonsense ideas about what "normal" vaginas are supposed to look like??? Why can't they make the connection between the objectification and sale of women's bodies and sexuality and the masses of people treating women like products to be cut and changed??
#its a profound lack of class consciousness#anti beauty culture#anti plastic surgery#radfems please touch#radfems please interact

... For instance, in an episode of Embarrassing Teenage Bodies, screened on Channel 4 in 2008, a young woman consulted a doctor about the fact that her labia minora extended slightly beyond her labia majora and that this caused her embarrassment. Instead of reassuring her that this was entirely normal, the doctor recommended, and carried out, surgery on her labia. The comments left on the programme’s website showed how this decision to carry out plastic surgery to fit a young woman’s body to a so-called norm made other young women feel intensely anxious. ‘I’m fifteen and I thought I was fine, but since I’ve watched the programme I’ve become worried, as mine seem larger than the girl who had hers made surgically smaller! It doesn’t make any difference to my life, but I worry now that when I’m older and start having sex I might have problems!’ said one girl. This idea that there is one correct way for female genitals to look is undoubtedly tied into the rise of pornography. Indeed, one website for a doctor who specialises in this form of plastic surgery makes this explicit: ‘Laser Reduction Labioplasty can sculpture the elongated or unequal labial minora (small inner lips) according to one’s specification … Many women bring us Playboy and say that they want to look like this. With laser reduction labioplasty, we work with women to try and accomplish their desires.’ If the rise of pornography was really tied up with women’s liberation and empowerment, it would not be increasing women’s anxiety about fitting into a narrow physical ideal.

literally didn't realize people were insecure about labias until i was googling trying to find pants with a little more room in the crotch so my junk doesn't get smashed and all the fucking links were to labioplasties. like. i don't want to cut that to make room for the pants?? hello?? i would rather change? the pants???
RIGHT?? like why would that be the solution 😭 and i only recently realized this was a thing bc i saw a tiktok with someone saying they were getting surgery to remove their “ham” (which? i didnt realize some ppl refer to labias as that??) and then later i was looking at plastic surgery in my area and i saw a section for labiaplasty. and dont get me wrong ppl can definitely do what they want with their bodies! but im just surprised that thats an area that ppl get surgery done on cuz it never occurred to me before

trying to come up with my thoughts on the labioplasty/fgm trend on tiktok and waris dirie but I'm having trouble articulating, what I want to say is I read diries book when I was like 13 and it rlly opened my eyes (ugly and cliche term ik) to the abject violence of misogyny and to see the same acts of violence abstracted with medicalised language and trending as a result is really disgusting

Why do Women Opt For Labiaplasty Surgery?
Labiaplasty is a form of vaginal rejuvenation surgery that aims to reduce the size of labia minora- the innermost tissues of the female genitalia so that it’s flushed with labia majora- the outer portion of the female genitalia. It is a cosmetic surgical procedure performed by Dr. Chaitali Mahajan Trivedi at Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital involves the removal of excess skin of the labia minora, shortening and tightening of the underlying tissues to create symmetry between the two sides, and eventually improving the appearance of the external genitalia.
Labiaplasty Procedure
There are different surgical techniques to undergo Labiaplasty Surgery in Mumbai, depending upon the specific situation of the patient. Some of them are:
Trim procedure- It is a traditional, most natural technique which is most widely used by the surgeon. In this, the excess portion of the labia minora is cut out and stitched so that it is symmetrical with the labia majora.
Wedge procedure- This technique involves the cutting out of a partial thickness wedge from the thickest area of the labia minora to leave out only the submucosa- a tissue layer beneath the mucous membrane. It provides the vagina with a natural look, preserving its wrinkled edges, following the surgery.
When is Labiaplasty Done?
Labiaplasty might be considered if:
the labia get distended or lengthened leading to pain or discomfort like constant chafing and irritation while sitting, exercising, or performing other usual activities
the appearance of labia is making one feel self-conscious
the labia’s appearance is making one feel ashamed that she starts to avoid sexual intimacy
one is suffering from damage caused to labia as a result of childbirth or an accident.
Why do Women Get Labioplasty Done?
Labiaplasty has aesthetic and functional benefits, which is why labiaplasty is sought-after by most women. Here are the top reasons behind women seeking labioplasty:
Aesthetic Concerns- One cosmetic issue that labioplasty can resolve is the appearance of too long vaginal lips/labia majora which extends far outwards from the vaginal entry. In such cases, labioplasty involves the shortening of labia minora tissue.
Another is asymmetrical labia minora tissues, where one side appears longer than another. Labiaplasty can make this symmetrical by excising the excess tissues.
Painful Sexual Intercourse- When the labia minora tissue is very long to be easily pulled or tugged during intimacy, it leads to pain or discomfort at the time of vaginal sex. To resolve this pain, a labioplasty is performed which resects and shortens excess labia minora tissue.
Discomfort From Underwear or Tight Clothing- This can be felt by women due to extra-long labia minora tissue that gets rubbed onto the clothing fabric and cause friction. A labioplasty can get rid of the excess labia minora tissue that comes in contact with underwear or tight clothing.
Labial Tears Post-Childbirth- Vaginal births lead to changes to the labial tissues like labial tears which can be both unsightly and uncomfortable, leading to pain during certain activities and feelings of self-consciousness. With labioplasty, the scarred and damaged labia tissue can be removed, hence alleviating discomfort and creating an aesthetically appealing appearance.
Pain and Discomfort in Performing Certain Physical Activities- Too long labia minora tissues can cause discomfort while doing any physical activity like bicycle riding. Cardio exercises could cause friction in this area and result in pain and chafing. A labioplasty can resolve this by the removal of excess labia minora tissue.
Feeling Self-Conscious- Most women desire their vaginas to look best when they are getting intimate, but some women have aesthetic issues that make them feel self-conscious. A labioplasty can help bring back the confidence that woman used to have in her body.
The Abnormal Vaginal Appearance Caused by Changes from Aging or Childbirth- Many women opt for labioplasty to reverse the natural anatomy changes that they have experienced with their vagina over time because of factors like childbirth and aging. As a woman gets older, her labia minora tissues can increase lax, loosen, soft, and become wide open leading to the appearance of a heavier-feeling intimate area that sags downwards. After childbirth, women experience hanging down of their labia minora tissues which gives them a longer appearance. Such changes can lead to medical issues like excessive vaginal discharge, urinary incontinence, or vaginal dryness. Thankfully, a labiaplasty surgery performed in Mumbai by Dr. Chaitali Mahajan Trivedi can potentially resolve some of these symptoms, address aesthetic concerns, and restore the original state of the labia minora tissue.
To know more about other gynecological surgeries consult Dr. Chaitali Mahajan Trivedi at Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital.

No actually, this is fully accurate.
I live in Utah, the plastic surgery capital of the US, and the sheer number of women I've heard of having horrific side effects to the various things they've done to their bodies is terrifying. Breast implants, labioplasties and certain hair dye jobs are all hella common triggers for everything from cancer, severe allergic reactions and massive infections, to just general botched surgeries and general decrease in quality of life. There's a huge standard For everyone to be "utah pretty" or "mormon pretty" when it's literally just "how blonde can we make you while also giving you the most exaggerated hourglass figure possible."
Meanwhile these women were never "ugly" before. Most of the women I've seen doing this have been already very attractive before the surgeries and the 7 year dye jobs. Then they feel pressured into the surgeries and the salons and even eating disorders and suddenly they seem less happy and more like they're constantly hunting the next big surgery or skincare product or hair routine.
Live your life, but holy shot LIVE your life. It's ok to be comfortable in your own skin. Human bodies are never perfect. That's the point <3
honestly more media should portray the anti aging industry as horrific and decidedly unhuman. it IS body horror it IS grotesque it DOES go against nature. it WILL kill you. yes.

What are the Benefits of a Labiaplasty?
When you got pregnant, you were probably well aware of the fact that pregnancy was going to change different parts of your body. You might have been prepared for changes in the abdominal area, such as a little tummy pouch, or changes in the breasts, such as an increase in size or sagging.
What you might not have expected, though, were changes “down there.” After childbirth, especially after a vaginal delivery, changes can occur in the vagina and labia. One of those changes can be an enlargement of the labia minora, the inner “lips” at the opening of the vagina.
An enlarged labia can make you feel self-conscious, whether you’re wearing clothes or not. Fortunately, labiaplasty can reduce the size of the labia, helping you to feel like your old self again. Labiaplasty Plastic Surgery offers several benefits, including functional and aesthetic improvements.
Improved Hygiene Depending on the size of the labia, enlargement can create hygiene issues. If one side is significantly larger than the other or if both sides are enlarged, there is a chance that bacteria can become trapped in the tissues, increasing the risk of infection.
Some women also find that having an enlarged labia increases the number of urinary tract infections they have. Having the labia surgically reduced can help to improve hygiene and minimize the risk of infections.
Improved Clothing Fit Leggings and tight-fitting yoga pants aren’t going out of style any time soon. But for some women, finding a pair of tight-fitting pants that don’t accentuate the area they feel self-conscious about can be a major challenge.
Labiaplasty can make wearing leggings and other body-hugging styles easier and more comfortable. It can also help you feel more confident when it’s time to wear a swimsuit at the beach.
If you work in an industry that requires a certain type of clothing, labiaplasty can also help you feel more confident on the job and can help you look more professional.
Improved Confidence in the Bedroom Labia naturally come in a range of sizes and shapes, and many women will see their labia change over time or as a result of pregnancy and childbirth. Even though there’s no one “right” way for the female genitalia to look, some women feel shy about revealing themselves to a partner. In some cases, the size of the labia can even make it difficult to enjoy sex.
Labiaplasty can make sex more comfortable and enjoyable. It can also help you overcome feelings of self-consciousness when you’re intimate with another person.
That said, it’s important that you have labiaplasty for yourself, not with the goal of trying to make another person happy. If a partner is critical of how any part of you looks, then you may want to reevaluate a few things, not get a labiaplasty.
Improved Comfort When Exercising Depending on the size of your labia, you might experience discomfort during physical activity. Enlarged labia can make riding a bicycle nearly impossible without chafing or irritation. Labia that rub against the thighs can also make it difficult to run or participate in other forms of exercise. Reducing the size of the labia can eliminate friction and irritation and help you comfortably enjoy a more active lifestyle.
Labioplasty Options Usually, one of two types of labiaplasty can be performed. The traditional surgery is called a trim procedure. It involves removing the excess skin of the labia minora. Usually, the goal of a trim procedure to make the labia minora even with the labia majora.
The second type of labiaplasty is known as the wedge procedure. During a wedge procedure, the surgeon cuts away a v-shaped piece of tissue from each side of the labia minora. He then stitches the tissue together.
Each option has its benefits and drawbacks, so it’s important to discuss what you’re hoping to get from the surgery with your plastic surgeon before deciding on one procedure or the other.
What to Expect After Labiaplasty Even without plastic surgery, the genital area tends to be very sensitive. After labiaplasty, it’s likely to be particularly sensitive, at least for a few weeks. Usually, you’ll want to take a week or two off from work to give your body time to recover and heal.
You can start doing light activities and light exercise, like walking, starting a few days after surgery. In fact, walking after your labiaplasty is usually a very good idea, as it helps you bounce back more quickly. Take it easy, though, and save vigorous activity for at least a month after surgery.
You’ll also want to avoid sex for about a month after your surgery. Your surgeon will let you know when you can get intimate again.

I'm insecure about the way my pussy looks, do you have any advice to improve my self-confidence?
This doesn’t really follow the theme of my blog, but my advice is to not compare yourself with what you see, specially on the internet. I know this has been said a million times and that it’s really difficult to do, but the things people share on here, even if they seem like candid / “random” / improvised snaps, are more carefully curated than you think, even when it comes to something as simple as posting a photo / video where you can see their genitals. Speaking of which, I can assure you: They come in all colours, shapes, and sizes. As a matter of fact the “petite innie super pink and perfectly smooth pussies” you see in porn are very uncommon, specially without having gone through a labioplasty. So don’t worry, really. Your genitals are normal and they look hot af, and I’m 100% sure that anybody who thinks otherwise is a virgin and/or somebody whose only knowledge about sex comes from pornography.

Do you also agree that unskilled and essential are not a contradiction? I mean unskilled means it can be learned fast, while essential just means very important. Those can be true at the same time
Absolutely. There is no contradiction between ‘unskilled’ and ‘essential’. It’s just that needing a specific line of job doesn’t suddenly make it skilled.
Maybe it goes something like this:
unskilled, non essential: whatever it is that Jared Kushner does
unskilled, essential: cleaner
skilled, non essential: asshole plastic surgeon*
skilled, essential: teacher
I’m just annoyed by this recent concept some people on the left have developed - just add a coat of paint and it’s fine? Like, when I was a supply teacher I could look at a list of kids and tell you their grades without even meeting them.
(One French study can actually predict your bac grades based on your given name with 90% accuracy or something.)
And the problem with that is - people on the right will automatically assume that happens because some people are either lazier than others or just less smart, and do nothing about it except cut even more funding from schools. That means people on the left should work even harder to fix the underlying issues - poverty, racism, bias, undiagnosed or untreated medical problems in either kids or parents, unsafe housing and so on - but instead, there’s a recent trend to just hide what’s wrong and pretend like it’s not happening. Like, when I hear some progressive schools in the US are now eliminating grades or ‘decolonizing’ the curriculum (in the wrong way), that drives me up the walls.
*ie, the kind that profits off cosmetic rhinoplasties and labioplasties

So I’m watching BOTCHED BODIES on netflix
and like... one of the statistics was about a large number of 11 - 14 year olds requesting/having labioplasty completed
WHO THE FUCK would hear an 11yo or 14yo or even an 18yo say, “Hey, my vagina is super weird can you ‘fix it’ with surgery?” and not immediately try to reassure them that it’s fine.
Sure, there are several minor issues that cause issues... but a lot of genital surgery is meant to correct damage, birth defects, or injury etc.
for one, no one should be made to feel their genitals are ‘gross/weiord/wrong’ but ESPECIALLY small kids and preteens
where are the parents? the guardians? the doctors who should say, “look there’s no actual imperfection here, vaginas come in all shapes and sizes, and there’s nothing unusual about yours.” and refer them for maybe counselling
I mean, surgery to the genitals can help to fix victims of fgm, people with irregularities that cause pain/discomfort (eg long labia that might be rubbing against clothing and causing discomfort), people who want to bottom surgery as part of their transition (always optional), people who had episiotomies that didn’t heal right (or had the Husband Stitch put in that’s fucking them up) or birth-related trauma, people with a genital-related disorder (eg removing internal damage like scar tissue or polyps), etc.
but not like, preteens, teens, young people whose idea of normality is the uniform vaginal shape of porn stars?
The amount of things that can go very, very wrong; especially with genitals, is quite high. And there’s not a lot of flesh to work with, either, meaning fixing issues needs skin from elsewhere. If they can fix it.
It’s just that there’s such a level of shame and stigma around vaginas. People always seem to measure them against those of porn stars, whose very qualifications tend to include a uniform genital shape. Plus, of course, society making people feel self-conscious about legit anything about physical forms...
I would also be suspicious about a doctor/surgeon who suggested unnecessary cosmetic surgery to someone; ESPECIALLY someone 18 and under.
Like, a problem that is causing pain/discomfort/acute emotional distress? Yes. Talk to doctors, parents, a nurse you feel comfortable with. Seek a proper medical opinion about your concern; and a second opinion if you feel you are being pressured into a certain option.
Maybe talk with a therapist about your worries/concerns eg. you think that an issue identified by the doctor may need surgery. So that you are supported professionally, as well.
[This post does discuss vaginal concerns, but it also applies to persons who have a penis. Never rush into surgery, even if it’s ‘something everyone does’ or being pushed on you. Human bodies come in all shapes and sizes, genitals too. If there is something painful, uncomfortable and/or distressing down there; see a doctor, talk to a safe adult in your life and if you feel uncertain then go get a second opinion.]
------
Also, the amount of boob jobs that go badly, is horrifying. It’s normal for one to be larger than the other, some people hit the jackpot and get symmetrical breasts; but usually not. Asymmetrical is normal, too.
Implants are also not forever, most have to be changed out; so that would be something to factor into any future planning.
Again, don’t rush into changing things about your body. Take the time to look into the proceedure, the risks, the surgeon/facility you are looking at, their reputation, and what supports you can have around you if you do decide to go ahead. (Or if you need it).
Breasts, Genitals, muscle implants, noses/rhinoplasty, eyelids, facelifts, tummy tucks, genital fat removal, liposuction, lip augmentation, fake cheekbones, botox, etc. Seen as common, everyday type of surgery; it still carries risk, it still should take thought, planning and care. Even if everything goes fantastically, you should still have appropriate aftercare; should be prepared to have downtime to heal, be able to call the surgeon/doctor if you are worried, and have people around you who can help at this time/intervene if there’s a complication.
---------
But to my original point... children should NOT be feeling that their fucking genitals, or any bit of their body is ‘weird’ or ‘wrong’ or ‘needs to be surgically fixed’.
They’re still growing?
They also should not even have it in their heads that their genitals are not normal? I would be looking at the adults in their life, jesus christ.

surgery consult
heyyyy news
had a video remote consult today (that is so nice for a first meeting, oh my god, please make this a usual option, so much less stressful than Getting a place and Checking in and Waiting and trying to self-regulate and you’re on Their Turf and hhh and medical environments)
crane center with dr. michael safir, am going to also talk to dr. angela rodriguez
talked about my journey and experiences, was immediately asked why previous surgery experience was bad, saw notes being taken about the fluorescent lights and the meds denied because time of day wasn’t noted
was asked to describe what bothered me currently dysphoria-ways and was just UGHGHHG face/noises/gestures, right, about The Skin and the Way it IS, which got a heh yeah understandable sounds about right
talked also about lesser concerns, the little divot near the perineal area that can be hard to keep clean (and confuses sexual partners lmao), the minor urinary retention where it sometimes feels like even after voiding there is still a bit left (but never much more than a few seconds, and usually voidable with a little push), Symmetry
talked about Traditional Pathways and how for crane center most folks they give vaginectomies are also getting metoidioplasty or phalloplasty so again the not quite comparable results, and how most nullo/nullification surgery is for cis men who id as eunuchs and sometimes get a zero-depth vaginoplasty (didn’t know that part), and how dr. rodriguez mainly does plastic surgery after vaginoplasty for trans women, and how dr. safir does a lot of vaginectomies (again with metoidio or phallo) but his background is in doing both cis men and cis women urology and he’s done tons of labioplasty for cis women, so even though his title is urologist he has more experience probably (but he still recommended i talk to dr. rodriguez)
talked about insurance coding language and how lyon-martin had called it a metoidioplasty (revision) and dr. safir was very like no that’s a major operation and this would be minor, we’d probably call it a labioplasty (me like aha altering the appearance..... Into Disappear) (buzzes about still wanting labiectomy to be The Word, Like, Obviously, It Is The Etymologyically Correct One, but considering if i’ll allocate the effort)
talked about the lack of results to look at (metoidios look hella different! didn’t explicitly talk about, but my impression sure is that they can cinch skin closer underneath because T and release means it extends, whereas without means skin pocket right. god still toying with words there since nook is less good-feeling because of breaking up with homestuck, lol). talked about the lack of ways to envision also? but knowing the Not This and the Remove It and the symmetry, right.
probably need to talk more about the fantasy world Fully Rescindable, Looks Smooth And Then Arousal Means Little Emergence setup, in terms of truly designing as close as possible. god should i be looking at lizards. heh.
oh and they do need photos of the Surgical Site, hair is fine, don’t have to transmit them electronically (albeit through secure online portal and only to the One surgeon) if don’t want, can come in person and show photos on phone (they don’t even get a copy!), there is no in-person exam regardless (!!!!! holy shit)
very cool. much less charisma-y bustle-y, hard to tell if that’s because yknow remote video consult is a very different environment, or because people involved. but dr. safir was very like “i just want to get you taken care of, and we will take care of you” (between him and dr. rodriguez right) and felt much more Experienced and Chill and also Not About A Portfolio Or Technique Development and thank you
also i guess 85% of their patients are gender surgeries and they have their own site and staff, so the whole misgendering thing Should be better (we’ll see around being non-binary specifically, and around looking estrogen-dominant)
yeah! they take Medi-Cal and i feel like i’ve heard about the crane center going way back, mostly about metoidios but such is the nature of presentations/workshops. crossing fingers.

I love when TERFs are like “aaaa you’re mutilating your body / removing healthy tissue!” at trans men who have had surgery or are going to get surgery because it’s such transparently fake concern trolling. There are so many cosmetic and non-cosmetic surgeries that remove healthy tissue from your body or change how you look permanently. I NEVER see TERFs railing against other kinds of surgery on “healthy tissue” mostly meant to alter the appearance like nose jobs or tummy tucks or all the kinds of surgeries people get, from changing the shape of their ears because they don’t like it to removing “saggy” skin that they don’t want to see. Hell, I’ve never even seen a TERF talking about breast augmentation or labioplasty!
That’s because they don’t care. They only care when trans people do it. In the case of trans men, they hate that we’re throwing away our ~beautiful perfect angelic presumably hairless and boobtastic feeeemale~ bodies, which tells you a lot about how TERFs view women. It’s total objectification.
