Everytime I see MB she reminds me so much of the warforged from gw2 and I love it. Genuinely curious, what inspired you to make such a firey character? Just like the heat bit more than others :D

I just looked it up and I could see why x'D!!!

Hmmm usually when creating characters I always made them with blue colors or inspired by water or beach themes, but I started to have so many and I thought it would be better to go for a different theme like lava, volcanoes, fire… orange colors, all because I wanted to create a new sona x'D

I also got inspired with characters like Capsaicin Cookie, Obsidian from SU, and of course the normal lava lamps cuz they look awesome at darkness x'D!!! (and well, it was also because that theme of volcanoes has followed me for a long time due to historical facts that I usually read)

And after a couple of concepts this Sona came out (also explained here)

And just days after creating that concept I saw Murder drones for the first time and - that's how it was- XD

Random theories, head cannons and predictions for Roots of Chaos books

I have been rereading both "Priory of the Orange Tree" and "A day of Fallen Night" and have been noticing new things and creating my own theories and head cannons. I'm listing these theories from the ones I consider most likely to the lest likely/ones that have the least evidence.

1.) The Earl of Honeybrook (Kits dad) or one of his ancestors was a practitioner of sterren. Samantha Shannon has confirmed that Kabala's last words "beware the sweet water" refers to Kits family. At the beginning of the book its revealed that "The Earl of Honeybrook stood with the other members of the Virtues Council. He did not look troubled by the absence of his son, who he resembled in every way but the mouth, which never smiled.". We know that the use of Sterren affects offspring by making them look identical to the parent. I believe that at some point after A Day of Fallen Night when Kabala regained her strength she decided that she wanted a child to train but instead of taking another child from the priory she chose and Inysh child and taught them how to use sterren.

2.) There is a 4th Siden tree. In A day of Fallen Night, Wulf mentions rumours that there is a valley in the north beyond Hróth where the eversnow melts (I can't find the exact quote -sorry). I believe that this is because there is another siden tree located in this valley and the fire from the siden causes the snow to melt. Apart from this rumour this theory doesn't not have much proof in the book but I believe it because one of the major themes is balance and having 4 trees, one in each main location (North - Hroth, South - Lasia, West - Inys/Nurtha, East - Komoridu) makes sense from a narrative perspective. Also Samantha Shannon has hinted that later books will explore the Hurin in more detail and as we know that there are Hurin in the north beyond Hroth.

3.) The lacustrine legend of "The little shadow girl" will appear as a narrator character/a character in a future book and tells us that the balance of the universe has been disrupted before. The legend of the little shadow girl tells the story of a little girl who "‘In the time before the Great Sorrow, a fire-breather flew to the Empire of the Twelve Lakes and ripped the pearl from the throat of the Spring Dragon". We do not know how much before the great sorrow this legend takes place but as it features a wyrm it means that this wyrm is either the Nameless one (which is not likely as we know when the nameless one first appeared he stayed in the South) or a new wrym which we have never met. We also know that "As the Spring Dragon mourned for her pearl, a most unnatural winter fell over the land". This makes me think that in the very ancient times when the balance was disrupted a diffrent wyrm was created (possibly from one of the eastern volcano's instead of the Dreadmount) stole the pearl which either caused a "unnatural winter" or coincided with the times that sterren was in power (which caused the "unnatural winter"). I think that this legend will play a large role in a future book (possibly the very ancient book with Siati the Dreamer).

4.) The "Melancholy King" for who the "desert of unquiet dream" is named, was affected by sterren not a desert mirage. The king first sees the mirage when he is in his palace which is in the middle of a city. In real life mirages only tend to happen when you are in the middle of a desert not when you are in a city environment. Because of this and the Kings steadfast belief that he is in fact in a dream makes me believe that he was seeing an illusion created by someone using sterren. I don't know who or why someone would do this though.

Do you have any designs for merman! Avdol? Idk, fire-themed characters as merpeople is just a vibe lol. I imagine he likes hanging out near and observing undersea volcanoes, amazed and in admiration of the paradoxical co-existence of fire and water.

I have a vague idea of how I want Avdol to look, but currently I have no Apple Pen — I have a sneaking suspicion it got thrown in the trash by a family member, but whatever.

I get paid in about 2 days, so I’m not tooo stressed — this does mean that I’ll have no art of the mers for a few days : (

My fave part of Avdol’s design is his robes, so he’ll def have really long and billowing fins, probably two sailfins to mimic the idea of “wings” on his back in reference to Magicians Red. His main body would be a dark beige-brown colour, and his fins would all be shades of red/orange/gold.

Character Design Research - Skylanders

I decided Skylanders would have some great characters for me to get inspiration from as every character within the different games is based on a specific 'element', which is also the source of the abilities each one possesses. I looked at a character from each of the elements in the game to see how each one differs in shape, colour, and ability, depending on which elemental group it is a part of. This research will be really useful when it comes to designing my own characters as I will also be basing their appearances around an environmental theme.

Spyro - Magic Element

I chose Spyro to represent the 'magic' element because out of all the characters in the game, he is the most popular/well-known character as he also has his own games. I really like his cartoon-like design as I find his look and colour very appealing and I think it's his large eyes and appealing design that also catches the audience's attention.

Another thing to take note of which is also visible in each of the characters I looked at, is that the colour theme of each of them is all based around the colour of their elemental group.

Sonic Boom - Air Element

Sonic Boom's design is basically a griffon as she is pretty much a mixture of an eagle and a lion, the only difference is that she is blue, unlike the standard golden brown colour of a regular Griffon design. It makes sense for Sonic Boom to have wings seen as she is part of the 'air' elemental group so her design and abilities are all 'air' related.

Camo - Plant Element

Camo is basically a green dragon-like lizard designed to look like a leaf which is great for camouflage in areas such as forests as he can easily blend in with his surroundings. It makes sense for Camo to be green and have short legs so that it is easier for him to 'lay low' and avoid danger. You'll also notice Camo has very sharp claws which is a great design feature for allowing him to climb trees and ward off any threats.

Eruptor - Fire Element

I find Eruptor a great example for the 'fire' element group, as he is basically a walking volcano who you wouldn't want to anger and be on the wrong side of. His molten rock body is also very appealing to the audience due to the bright orange and red colours used.

Gill Grunt - Water Element

Gill Grunt is a great example of the 'water' element group, as he is basically a fish with arms and legs. I really like how the designer has given him scales on his body, webbed feet, as well as fins on his head as these 3 features as well as his colour are what make it obvious that he is a water creature.

Bash - Earth Element

Finally, we have Bash. I really love how he quite obviously looks like a walking boulder with a spike ball on the end of his tail. In the games, his tail is used for smashing through solid rocks which is great for a creature living in places such as caves and underground caverns where rocks are very likely to fall down and block pathways. His colour scheme also well fits his character design as he is brown just like the ground beneath our feet.

Overall, I find the Skylanders a great starting point for character/creature designs that are all based on the same environmental theme, which is what I intend to do for my digital 3D modeling project.

MESOAMERICAN FANTASY YIPPEE

I wish I could draw cool backgrounds. Man. I literally have so many ideas... I want to draw home. I want to make a version of latinoamerica that isn't ridden with corrupt politicians and crime syndicates funding the government and american intervention. I want to enjoy the forests and the lakes and the animals and the stories. I want peace and love on planet earth and a pet jaguar. I want sustainable agriculture and rainbow corn and slavery-free chocolate. I want native bees to thrive and I want monarch butterflies to thrive and I want axolotls to thrive and I want quetzales to thrive. I want clean water and public baths.

I know the aztecs were imperialists. They were, plain and simple. But if I were to daydream a better version of my home, I'd make it so there are no empires. I'd make it so there was no war. Ritual war, perhaps, war reenactment, sports and the like. Not war over resources. This is a fertile land, there is enough for everyone. And I'd like to believe humans would choose to be good.

I love the colonial and early Mexican industrial revution aesthetics, but I am saving that for my more grim-dark fantasy world. The one with wars an oppression and discrimination. Because that time period is marked by that. And I'd like to explore those themes.

I am rambling I know but listen I am just happy I am making progress with this project. I have ideas. I have the basics of a conlang laid down, I have a map, I have some short stories written down.

Something I did do is that I gave this civilization sheep. I have a middle east-like/mediterranean region, so I said sure, they can have sheep, whatever. They can have oranges and lemons (you know how much Mexicans love lime. Favorite fruit flavour tbh) and they can have linen and papyrus as well (those as imported products). Maybe pomegranates, dill and other herbs.

They don't have horses. In my mind, I always relate horses to war. I'm not giving them that. I don't want empires, I made that clear. They will be mostly small countries and city-states, then, small towns around them, and nomadic tribes further north. I have worldbuilt for the colder climate, and the tribe from there has a more centralised mode of goverment with a monarchy.

But I'm starting all wrong. The city I thought of first was Túle. It has a monarchy as well. There's a scholarly class and a peasant class and a religious class and a merchant class. I'm not creative enough to imagine a world without class differences, sorry. But I don't want people to be poor, outright. Everyone has stuff to eat. People are kind and share what they have. There's public education (this one is something the aztecs actually had, believe it or not). It is, like tenochtitlan, on top of a lake and next to a volcano, so agriculture is boomin'. Unlike the aztecs they are not a militaristic society. Warriors are well respected, but war is a ritual matter. Battles are schedule, and there's arbiters and set rules. Taking prisoners is encouraged, while killing outright is discouraged, for the most part. But people make sure the war is fair. Its a diplomatic affair. Raiding cities or killing civilians is forbidden.

This is true for most civilizations living in the plains, and the forests.

The tribes of the cold far north do not engage in war. They say their people were destroyed by war, once, and it is forbidden. They think of the people south as rather uncivilised, but they are in good terms, over all. The people down south see the northern people a similar way. There is trade between them. They have the darkest skin and curly hair, as opposed to the people on the mainland, who have straight hair and brown skin. But of course, these are not hard lines. There is no racial segregation. Báliliwa, a princess of the North, had famously long, cloud-like hair.

At the western side there is a chain of islands with a Mediterranean-like climate. Trade and sailing are important for the people there. People in the mainland tend to be scared of the sea. The sea people are not scared, and they know how to read the stars. They have linen and citrus fruit and paper. They don't have anything similar to a centralized goverment. They are composed of mostly prosperous small towns.

The people living in the desert are nomadic as well, but more similar to the city people in values. They get along very well. They maintain trade routes alive.

In the very south, in the warmer forests, there is a bigger emphasis on academia. Astronomy, magic, architecture and such. They have city states as well. They plant cacao and zapote, papaya and mamey, and vanilla.

In terms of domesticated animals, we have turkey, bulls, sheep, alpacas, dogs, cats, rabbits, bees, silkworms, capibaras and ñandús. There have been failed attempts ar domesticating deer, but it remains an important source of meat, all things considered. While I didn't plan including an analogue to incan societies, since I am not familiar with them, I just think Alpacas and Capibaras Ñandús are adorable. They are so cute... How could I not have them?? The bees and the silk worms are native species (the bees are Melipona bees, and the silkworms are some saturnidae moth, similar to their Asian counterparts).

The staple crops are of course corn, beans and pumpkins/zucchini/squash. Yes they have tortillas. If medieval high fantasy worlds can have bread I can have tortillas. There's also potatoes, amaranth, peanuts, avocado, tomatoes, tomatillo, and pepper. Of course there's pepper! Many varieties. Nopal is also important in people's diets. There's milk, which means there's cheese, which means you can make Enchiladas Suizas!!

For fibers, there's linen (expensive export) silk (time and labor intensive) cotton and ceiba fibers. There's also leather, and fur/pelts. Producing these fibers, and spinning and weaving and embroidery are ocupations held in very high regard.

The magic system of my world is animistic, and therefore the religion is as well. Everything is alive and sentient, therefore, everything can be *befriended*. Since this is my little escapist world, I wanted to have a magic system based on friendship. So you can befriend the wind or the sea or the earth, or fire or snow, and light and shadow, and they will help you when you if you are in need. But most people befriend the things that are around them, because the souls of the earth or the wind are too big. They might befriend the land which they plant, or a specific kind of plant, or the shore of a single river. Everything has a soul and a personality, even a rock on the side of the road can become a friend. Or an enemy. People are very respectful of nature, because you don't want to anger it. You want to be in good terms with it.

These souls can take physical form as well. They don't do this often, however. They also speak their own language, different from that of humans. But a lot of them have learned to speak with us, when there's the need. The form they take is accord to their temperament, so a river might take a fish-like form, for example.

There's six great wills that rule over the world, and that together encompass the concience of the world itself. There's the Sun, the Moon, the Sky, the Earth, the Stars, and the New Moon. These are like, the big ones. The legends. The oldest ones, and therefore the most aware. The older a thing gets, the more aware, the more powerful and wise. And this includes man-made things.

Spirits can marry and have children with humans, in their physical form. Nwibahen, for example, is daughter of the Early Snowfall. Nitahen was the daughter of the Light of Dawn. Just like you can befriend a spirit, you can also make them fall in love with you, you can make them resent you, you can be in diplomatic terms with them, etc.

I'm not sure how much I would personally adhere to correspondence lists, but Scorpio is a fixed water sign ruled by Mars and Scorpio.

It’s at this point that Grandpa has the gall to say “Did any of you happen to catch the lore? I fell asleep during that part.” Just like my Dad when we watch any movie as a family.

Meanwhile, maybe 100 ft away from them, Joey is in mortal peril but it’s Joey, so he’ll be fine. Don’t worry about it.

In fact, this episode seems like it would have been a better arc if it stretched out more episodes because the Joey neglect happens so quickly and out of nowhere that it’s...less organic than your average children’s show. Honestly it’s kind of funny how fast the fall of Joey Wheeler happens this episode. And I think it could have been a fun interesting time if it was handled better but youknow...it’s crammed into one single episode and you’ll se what happens.

As Yugi ruminates a cool thing that would have been really interesting this season--like running into more rando’s from other periods of time than just Alexander--Tea looks across the lava highway and was like “found it.”

Back at the dragon situation, Joey starts opening his heart to this dragon and it’s like...did they originally intend for Seto Kaiba to be here? Because I guess Joey uses Red Eyes a lot, but I also skip a lot of the card games, so when I think “who likes the dragon card?” Joey is not the first one I think of.

That and like he got over his Atlantis dragon card like hella fast, right? Like totally already over that?

And also if you thought Joey would pull out his other dragon to try and communicate or get a hold of this dragon like...nah.

Back at the fort, these guys decided to ditch Joey to get to this sword at the top of a volcano to solve the riddle, and what follows is some weird ass canon.

As I’m pulling up my Google Doc with my deathcount on it, Tristan decides this is the time he won’t freakin die and turn into a robot monkey for 15 episodes.

And he makes a huge ass green dragon. You’d think this MASSIVE dragon would do more in this episode, but nah. Although he pulls out Massive Dragon, it’s like kind of worthless, so he mostly puts it back in his pocket.

And then Tea pulls this elf chick out and it’s freakin hilarious because look at her giant elf.

Like Tea is not a small person! Are Yugioh monsters all 12 ft tall???

Yugi is also all ham about fusing with his dude now. It knocked him out a couple episodes ago, but Yugi is so keen on destroying his body that he’s back in clown town. And like...took his Grandpa for a ride, I guess, although I’m pretty sure Summoned Skull has wings.

Course, Summoned Skulls insides are his outsides...and I dunno if you’d want Summoned Skull to give you a big hug and carry you around. Summoned Skull just seems like he’s sticky.

And, once they make it to the top of the volcano where the plot sword lives, we first have to visit this plot twist of the century.

YEAH.

OUT OF NOWHERE.

THIS EPISODE IS NOT LONG.

Aaaaaaand now Joey is going to try and kill everyone here. I did not skip anything, PS, Joey dipped off-screen.

PS, everyone’s reaction to “I will kill you!” was a whole lot of rolling their eyes at first being like “Joey, stawp.”

So, now that Joey’s randomly possessed by this dragon, we get a peek into what Joey’s brain zone looks like. It’s a whole lot of nothing in between his ears.

Consistent to S1 actually, when we had a bit of a Joey Brain Zone moment. It was a blank void there, too.

So apparently Joey decided, back when he was confessing his love to Red Eyes Black Dragon, that he would jump on it’s back to calm it down--and it just...fused with him. So...now he’s a dragon.

Sure, I guess. I mean...there’s really no limit on what a Duel monster can’t do, so I’ll allow it.

The team tries to just say “ah screw it” and pull up this sword themselves (you can kind of see it in this shot) and the sword just slurps into the dirt even more out of spite. Seeing that there’s a bit of a time limit, Grandpa pulls this one out of his back pocket.

Yo, Grandpa’s not even possessed. Hey, remember that time that Grandpa nearly died giving Arthur Hawkins the last of his water back in Egypt? Remember that?

Like uh, you can definitely tell this was made by a different team that may not have gotten that cue card. It may have been lost in the mail. Either way, kind of a hilarious heel turn on Grandpa’s personality here, although it does make logical sense to save most of the kids from sacrificing one kid. It’s just...that kid is Joey...so...that’s like his adopted Grandson, right?

So Yugi does something very on brand for Yugi and invades a brain.

And like...obviously Yami and Yugi would say no to this. They would never do this. Not after all the dozens and dozens of times they have sacrificed the world and everything for their best friends.

But...maybe just this one time we can kill Joey? As a treat?

So uh...Yami hella vaporizes Joey with his new powers. Luckily, Joey Wheeler has Shaggy Doo energy and just...he survives it for some reason. I don’t know why he isn’t dead, maybe because the dragon made him stronger? Eh, don’t do the math (on any part of this episode).

So Joey gets up and is like “I know the answer to the riddle!” As the sword kinda melts into the volcano and Gramps is like “Well we’re dead, actually, so no one cares!”

And Joey’s like “Look!” and he hops onto the back of the Red Eyes Black dragon and reveals this random thing:

Because it turns out, that the dragon was the real problem and not this volcano with a sword in it.

Which youknow...could have been cool if this episode wasn’t so many insane plot points so quickly. Kind of a lot of episode here. This episode could have been a whole season of a show.

Like how long was Joey Possessed by Marik in S2? Like 5 or 6 episodes? And you can see how much more successful it was at selling the story although it was a lot of the same themes and ideas. Pacing is important.

And then Joey passes out from the suit juice.

Which is when we get one more Alexander cameo, just kinda watching them leave and onto the next arc of their little journey.

They sure did put a lot of eyeliner on Alexander the great, and, being real...he may have actually been wearing a hell ton of dope eyeliner when he was alive, so this could be historically accurate, for all we know. Those old marble statues used to be painted, after all. Maybe they had dope Yugioh eyeliner down to his cheekbones? One can wish.

And like if you ever get the time--seeing what those marble statues looked like with paint on it is so freakin goofy and fun, I love it. I love that for 600 years we thought those marble statues were supposed to be naked and white but it’s like, nah man--this guy’s just wearing a skin tight breast plate and when you paint it, it’s so garish it’s like a freakin clown outfit.

Winx Club - Sirenix

The time has come for Sirenix. However, I'm completely changing the look because the official Sirenix designs are UGLY. I also decided to have the girls be mermaids and that Sirenix is a special form that can only be gained through a difficult journey and all that jazz. They swim faster than regular mermaids and they have full control of their powers underwater (Since I have Tecna and Bloom not able to use their powers underwater because of how fire and technology don't really mix well with water) and new abilities. I'm basing the designs off of their Mermaidix (Lazy name) forms from some magazine or picture book or whatever and their Harmonix designs, while giving it my own personal touch. And they still have wings because the mermaids on Winx Club have wings apparently. Why do they? I have no idea but it looks cool anyway and I guess can help them move faster underwater. Also, NO CGI animation for the Infinite Ocean because of how CGI is hard to edit and more importantly, the CGI in Winx Club is HIDEOUS.

Also, in my version, once their mission to defeat The Trix and stop them from taking over the entire universe (Again lol), they lose their Sirenix powers forever because of how it is an ancient power that no one should be allowed to have and all that crap.

Tecna

Tecna was A LOT of fun to do, especially since we don't see a lot of plus-sized mermaids. Unlike the other girls, I didn't use her Harmonix hairstyle because I felt her Bloomix hair felt more like a mermaid and under the sea, especially with the highlights. So far, this is the BEST look she's had. A lot of sharp angles and triangles, which feels very intergalactic and technologically advanced, which suits Tecna. It was a challenge to do a mermaid with a technology themed look because of how electronics and water do NOT mix, but it makes her look unique and a lot of fun. I also had a long sheer garment thingy so flow around in the water or whatever because of her having short hair (And we're keeping her short hair) and because it just looks awesome!

Musa

I had a lot of fun with Musa, especially because of the hair, which is gorgeous. Her wings/fins are so beautiful and really adds to the tail. I don't have much to say with her, other than I really love her design. I feel bad for never having much to say about Musa fanart because of how she's my second favorite Winx Club girl after Layla. I put just as much effort into her as I do the other girls but I don't have much to say. She just looks so gorgeous, amazing, and perfect!

Layla

I was the most excited to work on Layla's Sirenix because of how her powers are water based, which means that Sirenix should enhance her powers even more compared to the other girls. It's also why unlike the other girls, she has sparkles. I had her embrace the mermaid aesthetic the most out of all the girls with a seashell bra, glowing material, pearls, and her tail even has a wave pattern on it. I wanted to make sure that her Sirenix was the best one out of all the girls because of her water powers and I think I accomplished that goal.

Flora

Flora's Sirenix was a lot of fun to do because of how her nature-based powers really lends itself to the plant life of the underwater world like sea flowers and seaweed. I even added a flower petal pattern on her tail. She looks so gorgeous and I'm really loving how the Sirenix forms allows me to play with the way their hair looks because of how they are underwater. I don't have much else to say other than she's just so gorgeous.

Stella

I'm willing to bet you guys are shocked to see Stella in a transformation without her signature color, orange. Well, the reason for that is because her powers are NOT just the sun but also the moon. I figured since Sirenix is water-based that her look should embrace Stella's moon powers a lot more than her sun powers because of the connection between the sea and the moon. I even gave her a starfish bra and gave her a pattern of stars on her tail to add to this. She also has a moon pendant on her necklace. I used pretty much just light blue and silver for this and I really love how she turned out.

Bloom

I finally got to Bloom and I was really excited to work on her because her hair is GORGEOUS and because of how Sirenix is water-themed and her powers are fire, so that made it more interesting. I based her tail and top off of lava because of how the ocean does have lava/volcanos of sorts. I also changed the color of her wings/fins because of how the blue didn't go with the look and it looks more fiery now. It still has a hint of blue in the wings/fins if you look really closely. I also included some blue accessories because of both the sea and how fire still does have that hint of blue.

A Touch of Color’s Theme!

Hello everyone! “A Touch of Color” Zine has three aspects to its theme, so please keep reading if you want to know exactly what this zine is about and what we expect it to look like. 

Fairies 

This is a fairy zine, meaning all characters drawn in this zine should be fairies. You’re welcome to draw fairies of all ethnicities, sizes, and genders. We encourage diversity! 

World

Another aspect of the theme is the world, aka we’re leaning in a more fantasy-ish direction, and while we love modern fairies, that is not what we’re looking for! We’d love to see fairies in fantasy-inspired homes, towns, and environments!

Color

The final and most important part of the theme is color! We want to create a zine that is organized like a rainbow! You do not have to draw the zine piece with a single color, but the color you are assigned should be the focal point of your piece. Below we have a guide of the colors and what they will represent in this zine.

Red

Element: Fire

Environments:  Active volcanoes, blacksmith forges, bloody battle fields

Orange 

Element: Lava

Environments: Pumpkin fields, autumn forests, warm fire hearths, sunrise

Yellow

Element: Light 

Environments:  Deserts, wheat fields, gold mines, sunflowers, pastries (patisserie/bakery)

Green 

Element: Earth

Environments: Swamps, winter green forests, jungles, grass fields, valleys

Blue 

Element: Water or Wind

Environments: Oceans, glaciers, skies, lakes, rivers, storms 

Indigo

Element: Void

Environments: Space, moon, black holes, eldritch horrors

Violet

Element: Thunder

Environments: Purple flower fields, giant mushrooms, caves 

Please note that these are not hard set and we encourage any possible ideas you might be interested in drawing, so long as your idea fits the theme and can make your assigned color the focal piece of the zine.

I posted about my krbk playlist a little while ago but since it’s Boy Day I wanted to finally post about my solo Kirishima playlist too!! The only other thing I have to say is that I Love The Boy and that’s what this playlist is for :)

(bc of how i want to format the explanations, this list will be out of order with the actual playlist but that doesn’t actually matter that much!)

i. Teenage Icon - The Vaccines 

“Oh look at me, so ordinary

No mystery with no great capabilities”

-I guess it’s pretty fitting to start the list off with a very Middle School Kirishima kinda song! Something I really love about this one is that it’s very steeped in this idea that “oh I’m not great, I’ve been blown up my whole life but I’m really nothing special, I should just stop pretending to be” but then the choruses and the bridge are so upbeat that it feels like it’s made peace with it! Maybe even like it’s celebrating it? Like, this isn’t wallowing in self hatred, it’s an anthem and I feel like it’s the kind of thing Kirishima would listen to in middle school and think “yeah, I’m not special, so what, who cares” 

ii. Whatta Man - I.O.I 

the one w the classic “whatta man whatta man whatta man” hook but a kpop song

-as kirishima is the only boy alive, this song talking about a very good man must be dedicated to him

-put in the ioi ver instead of the classic one bc i love girls 

iii. Embers - Owl City

“And we'll watch the sky as it fills with light

And though the embers are new, whatever you do just don't let the fire die” 

-Something you are gonna learn very quickly about me is that I Love Owl City 

-A lot of Owl City songs are about overcoming hard times and facing forward and this one hits me more than a lot of other generic Encouraging Songs because “don’t let the fire die” feels like such a genuine sentiment, like more than “you’re a firework” or whatever because it encapsulates the idea of “this is your decision to make and something you’re gonna have to put in the effort but you can turn your life around, you don’t have to hate yourself, you can make the decision not to” which I feel is a very Kirishima sentiment

iv. I’m Gay - Bowling For Soup 

“It sells records when you're sad these days, it's super cool to be mad these days -

I think rock and roll is really funny when it's serious” 

-now. there is the very obvious meaning here

-But mostly this feels like a very Kirishima-ish song to me since it’s all about getting out of the “everything sucks and talking about that all the time makes you cool” mentality and not taking things so seriously, focusing on the positives and trying to make other people happy too!

v. I’ll Make a Man Out of You - Mulan

(picking a lyric to express kirishima in this one feels dumb when all you need to see this as a Him song is to imagine him belting it out) 

-the 12 year old that still lives somewhere inside of me and spent hours watching videos w titles like Total Drama Character Theme Songs on youtube is Extremely proud of herself for this one 

vi. The Squip Song - BMC 

“Freshman year, I didn't have a girlfriend or a clue

I was a loser, just like you”

-Look the fact of it is this song has extreme Kirishima Energy and to convince you of that I could write a lot of stuff or I could just link you the animatic I made please watch it I worked very hard

-Lyrical content aside I think the funky guitar and the horns and the amount of screaming in this song are Very kirishima 

vii. Fiji Water - Owl City 

“If I only knew then what I know now, I’d stand like a one man band, and I’d say

‘All this is new to me, but here’s how it’s gonna be - there is more to me than meets the eye” 

-owl city part 2! It’s about him seeing himself as a regular kid but getting called by a record label and flown out to talk about a record deal, and it’s cast in this light of “I didn’t see myself as much then and I was surprised it could all happen to me” but trying to make the most of it anyway, which reminds me a lot of Kirishima still doubting himself but getting to UA anyway

-The last line “I laughed when I got back home and I thought, ‘there’s no such thing as luck’” is my absolute favorite part of the song and when I imagine that as kirishima getting home after crushing the entrance exam and falling face-first onto his bed laughing...well! a bitch is soft!

viii. I Wanna Meet Richard Dreyfuss - Gabriel Gundacker (the guy who made the “you are my dad” vine)

“Hello, don’t mean to interrupt your flow

But I’ve got something you need to know, and it’s very specific, so here we go:

I wanna meet Richard Dreyfuss” 

-This song is from an album dedicated to a fan’s process of wanting to meet, NEEDING to meet, giving up on, trying to forget about, (brief intermission about saddles as he forgets about), apologizing to, finally meeting, and saying a satisfied goodbye to Richard Dreyfuss and it’s one of my favorite albums of all time

-At first I just thought the song sounded pretty Kirishima in terms of earnest effort and slightly-soulful high notes but then someone sent me an ask like “WHY IS THE RICHARD DREYFUSS SONG ON YOUR KIRISHIMA PLAYLIST” and I realized it would totally make sense for Kirishima to write an entire album about wanting to meet Crimson Riot, so, checkmate 

ix. Angel, Please - Ra Ra Riot 

“Long as I feel I can tell the danger did it - oh, you guard yourself, you do

I wasn't hurt but I know you're the curse, I know you were” 

-i am not gonna lie the first time i heard this song I just wanted so so badly to make it abt kirishima bc 1) album cover is red 2) band name has riot in it

-Anyway so after a month of listening to it w that mindset I can say pretty confidently that this song makes me think of Kirishima’s big fat crush on bkg so really it should be in the krbk playlist instead of this one but I do what I want 

x. Beautiful Times - Owl City

“My heart's burning bad and it's turning black but I'm learning how to be stronger” 

-Owl City part 3 :)

-This one is the most focused on the dark side of things and the “struggling through the depression” angle but I really do think the ending is a beautiful sentiment and that line up there reminds me of him

-I feel like...things never get easy right away and there’s always gonna be some doubt there no matter how good you feel, and the only thing we can do about that is to keep trying to make things better

Hatsune Miku- Flying (because she sounds like a song birb) White sundress with a subtle colored teal pattern. Fake wings in the back. Yellow and white flower crown. Somewhat reminiscent of a Greek goddess.

Kagamine Rin- Electric (because yellow and energy) Orange cyber girl. Cat ears and gloves.

Kagamine Len- Bug (because Len bugs us) Yellow bug catcher. He has a bug net with a spider web look.

Megurine Luka- Water (because tuna) Aqua elegant fantasy girl. Her long aquamarine dress evokes the image of a waterfall that becomes semi-transparent the further it flows down her legs.

Kaito- Ice (because ice cream) Blue skier. Somewhat Nordic-inspired clothing with flavors of Hokkaido?

Meiko- Ground (because brown) A construction worker look, mixed with a Hawaiian aesthetic that evokes volcanoes and an “ancient/vintage” aesthetic that evokes plate tectonics.

Yowane Haku- Ghost (because it’s cool) Spooky apparition lady with striking red eyes. Her outfit has some flavors of elegant gothic.

Akita Neru- Fighting (because Neru is tough) Gold-colored karate outfit with black pants, a martial artist with flavors of a ninja.

Akaito- Fire (because spicy peppers) A red and black outfit with a flame aesthetic. The ends of his scarf look like flames.

Kasane Teto- Psychic (because of her hair) A mesmerizing pink outfit with lots of psychedelic patterns...

Megpoid/Gumi- Grass (because green) A natural, green, nature-aesthetic forest dress.

Utatane Piko- Steel (because he looks like it) A bit of a robotic look, as if he is a toy robot made of metal. Also reminiscent of a suit of armor.

Kamui Gakupo- Poison (because ninjas and samurai used poison I think) A samurai outfit with purple and other contrasting bright colors to give of a natural “toxic” look.

Aoki Lapis- Fairy (because Aoki Lapis is a fairy) A magical fairy girl look. Really cute and bubbly, while still being something out of a fantasy series. Lots of gems.

Merli- Dragon (because she’s Aoki Lapis’ rival) An dark fantasy look, with a lot of blood-red, purple, and dark-colored gems decorating her outfit.

Zatsune Miku- Dark (because she’s an edgy goth Miku) A sinister goth look, and amber eyes that pierce your soul.

Lily- Rock (because Lily rocks) A punk-rock star look, mixed with the look of an archeologist or scholar. The two aesthetics may contrast greatly... but it will be a unique challenge.

Utane Uta/Defoko- Normal (because she’s the default/“normal” UTAU voice) A cute yet simple lavender theme. Polka dots and rounded animal ears on head. Reminiscent of pajamas.
