Barely relevant but I constantly think about this book series I borrowed from the library some 10 years ago where the only scene that has since stuck with me is the main character killing a dragon and the blood burning his skin and turning part of his hair white, nearly killing him. And I know that sounds anime as fuck but it was a legit book that I remember reading in the middle of the night with a flashlight under my bed covers bc my mom foolishly thought bedtime was more important than reading my books.
Anyway I wish I remembered what it was called. But also if I went to the library to ask I think I would die.
Seriously. I'm starting to block y'all on sight it has been quite long enough of a campaign to get you weaned off this terf's books and shows (and now games!)
#besides#what the fuck would i ask#“hey you got a book where the MC kills a dragon and the burning blood newrly kills him#like there aren't at least fifteen of those in EVERY library?#and really i dont think librarians actuslly read the books they keep bc. well. why WOULD they#first of all probably not allowed to during work second of all theyd have to have the dame taste as me as to have read the book#and also they would have had to REMEMBER it#i mean i recall where on the shelf it was but this was a decade ago#i also had a mild rep of having read literally every single fantasy and history drama book in the library and im kind of embarrased by it#like i used to show up asking about books even the librarians never heard of#got to the point i revoked my membership and just went to a bigger library several towns and a city away#ramblings of a madman

Love under the bookshelves - Demetri
Apparently, I posted this on AO3 but forgot to post it here... So here's a Dem x fem librarian reader.
You were a strange little thing. It is what most of the Volturi coven thought when they first saw you, what a queer little human! Instead of you ending up as food, Aro saw something in your thoughts, what he perceived as a promising gift. So, he left you a choice, death or becoming one of them. To his amusement, reminding you of a particular scene from a movie you loved: Be one of us… And the first question you asked was: “Can I still be a librarian?” Because it was what really mattered to the little bookworm you were… To remain surrounded by books, reading and discovering as you wish, and recommending what you had loved… Still amused by your behavior, Aro had given you the control of the library, and a nice budget for the collections… And so you said yes, not caring much about the human blood thing. Your gift must seem a really precious thing for him.
You almost expected Aro to turn him yourself, but he left Demetri do it.
Demetri was quite nice, watching over you from afar, but you never noticed much, too busy getting lost in your written world. So many books! The library, that he showed you, was wonderful, a dream come true. You beamed when you saw it for the first time as a human, and you beamed again when you first saw it with your vampire eyes. The transformation had been painful, yes, but Demetri was here, watching over you, you could feel it, and somehow even if you didn’t know him well it was comforting. It took you a while to get used to your new body, to learn to reign your newfound strength, and not be a threat to your precious books and the wonderful and fluffy cats of the castle. Feeding on humans was instinctual, and Demetri was there to guide you through every step. After only a month, you had a decent control of your body, able to not run at full speed all the time anymore, or accidentally breaking things by gripping them too hard.
Life in the castle was nice. You were able to bring some of your books and belongings from your human life, and following Aro’s orders you were left to your own device, doing as you wished and adapting to your new life. Soon, you started to spend all of your time in the library, enjoying your new memory to learn new languages and to remember all the books you were reading. It made the life of the guards that were supposed to watch over you much easier, to make sure the newborn you were wasn’t causing any troubles. And you were not! Calm on the outside, you used that restless feeling newborns have to do your librarian job, think about ways to make the library better, and to read books. You were already thinking about ways to catalogue everything, and to the sheer horror of some vampires, how to have an actual classification that made sense…
After two months, you were allowed to buy books for the library, and you were particularly excited about it. It would change you from having to only read old books, or things that others had chosen to buy: you could choose your own books! You placed your order to an independent little bookstore, and even managed to get books in other languages, like your native one.
And finally it was the day that the books would be delivered! You were under Demetri’s responsibility, and he was watching over you from afar as you grew more and more restless, wanting desperately your books. You were practically vibrating from excitement, and Demetri watched over you carefully, generally it wasn’t a good thing for newborns.
When you heard the delivery person talk to the secretary two floors below, you bolted toward where you knew your books would be. Demetri followed you, mindful of your every movement. You let out a squeal of delight, and only stopped in front of the secretary desk, this time very much vibrating by how excited you were. “Where are my books please?”
The secretary shows you the box full of books, and you eagerly open it, looking delighted at how many good novels and manga waiting for you. Too focused on the books, you barely pay attention to the sweet sweet scent in the air. You look up at the secretary, thanking her, not paying attention at how close Demetri had gotten, a worried look on his face, nor the ruby pearls dripping down her fingers… Gripping your box of books, you ran back to the library, missing the amazed looks of the vampire nearby that had smelled the fresh blood that you had ignored much more easily than you should have.
Demetri stayed with you the whole day, watching you read happily, a soft smile on his face. You were such a peculiar little vampire… But it made you even more extraordinary in his eyes.
After hearing about this little non-incident, Aro was even more curious about you, and decided that you could go into town to visit a library, to the condition someone was with you. Demetri volunteered, and you were happy about it, you’d come to like when he was near you. You awaited the next rainy day with impatience, wanting to explore the independent bookstore yourself, Demetri by your side.
The next rainy day came, and you were really thrilled about it, until you weren’t. Demetri had told you his goodbye the day before as he was leaving for a mission… When Chelsea asked you if you wanted her to go with you instead, you turned her down: you wanted Demetri… It made her smile, knowing what you had not understood yet.
You spent the next few days in the library, but it seems much bigger, emptier without Demetri’s presence. You read and read, believing those romance books would make it better. And it did, in a way, but you kept missing Demetri. He was always with you recently, and it made you sad that he wasn’t anymore. Was tracking that rogue vampire difficult? Did he missed you like you missed him? Was there a whole in his heart like there was one in yours?
It's all of those books that made you realize something, when you finally understood that the feelings you had for Demetri, were the same as the main character of your novel had for the love interest… All this time, reading quietly in the library, at first far away but then closer and closer, until you’d always share the same velvet couch; sipping blood wine as you explained him many librarian considerations, ones that surely weren’t that interesting to him, but that he would always listen carefully to, asking questions to hear more of your sweet voice…
Demetri wasn’t home, and you realized Volterra felt home because it was his home, and he made you feel welcome. It was your home, because Demetri was always somehow keeping an eye on you, making sure you were feeling at ease, enquiring of your well-being. You loved Demetri, but he wasn’t home for you to tell him.
The next two days felt like torture, even more painful for you than your own transformation. But days came and went, and finally, you heard his gorgeous voice, talking with Felix. You rose, and ran fast, very fast, towards him, nearly knocking up a few guards and things on your way, only stopping in front of Demetri, his soft curls framing his eyes as he looked down at you.
“Darling! How are you doing? I’ve missed you…” He did not get the time to say more, as you hugged him really tight, refusing to let go, burying your face in his chest, where is unbeating heart was. And for the first time, you were really focused on him. And you felt it. That warm pull that made you enjoy his presence. That made you eager to always have him with you, that made his voice the most beautiful sound on earth, that made Volterra home. Your eyes widen at the realization, and you look up at him. He knows, you realize at the look on his face. He knew it the whole time and he waited for me to feel it too.
“Demetri…” The way you said his name, with such love, such longing, it drove him crazy. He said your name too, and something your brain did not fully registered, but that you agreed to. And he bent down slightly, and his lips met yours, in a soft and tender kiss. It was everything you were waiting for, his kiss, you realized, and you kissed him back; poor Felix happy for his friend but abandoned, left to debrief alone to the kings about the rogue vampire tracked and killed.
“You have no idea how long I’ve longed to do this…” “And now you can do it again and again, for as long as you wish.” You answer him, grabbing his hand and holding it in your smaller one.
“I will love you forever then…”

Love blooming under bookshelves
Here it is, the little love story I wrote for Demetri who won the poll! Reader is a librarian, and their little weirdness has bewitched the tracker's heart...

The Watch
TITLE: The Watch PAIRING: Joel/OC RATING: T CHAPTER: One-shot SUMMARY: Holly decides to do something nice for Joel to thank him for taking her along with him and Ellie.
[A/N - Please ignore the fact that Joel has his watch on in this gif. I’ve had this idea since before the show came out and episode 3 gave me an excuse to write it. I also hate this title, but can’t come up with a better one.]
“They have hot water! I’m taking a shower and then you’re showering, because seriously…whew!” Ellie headed back to the main house.
Joel just shook his head.
Holly turned to him. “Admit it. She’s kind of starting to grow on you.”
“Shut-up,” he snapped at the younger woman.
Holly went inside and looked around the house while she waited for Ellie to finish showering. She looked through Frank’s book collection and pulled out some that looked interesting.
One thing that the pandemic hadn’t ruined was Holly’s love of reading. She had to leave behind most of her books when she moved to the QZ, but one she had refused to leave was her favorite copy of the Hobbit.
It gave her hope reading about the little Hobbit Bilbo who had helped a group of ragtag dwarves take back their home from a treasure hungry dragon. She’d like to believe that maybe the humans could do the same from the Infected. Take back the United States and start rebuilding. Maybe she could be a librarian once everything settled down.
Ellie came down the stairs. “You’re up.”
“Thanks.” Holly went upstairs to the bathroom. She’d already picked some clothes out, so all she had to do was shower now.
The hot water felt amazing against her skin. She didn’t even mind Bill and Frank’s shampoo because she could remember the last time she had gotten to really wash her hair. Not wanting to use up all the hot water, she toweled off and got dressed.
Holly doubted the car was ready to go and she’d slept horribly last night, so she laid down on the bed. As soon as her head hit the pillow, she was out.
Joel came inside and found Ellie sitting on the couch. “Where’s Holly?” he asked.
Ellie shrugged. “She was showering.”
Joel listened, but he couldn’t hear running water. Joel went into the bedroom and found Holly asleep on the bed.
Her hair was wet and she had found a box of clothes that fit her.
They’d been traveling on foot for a few days and the car battery still needed at least an hour to charge.
He didn’t want to disturb her, so he quietly slipped off his watch and set it on the bedside table.
When Holly came to, she heard the water running. Joel must be showering. She rolled over and was blinded by the late afternoon sunlight reflecting off something. She sat up and noticed it was a watch.
Joel’s watch to be exact.
They’d agreed to never talk about their pasts, but she knew the watch meant a great deal to Joel with the way he looked at it sometimes. Maybe his wife had gifted it to him. The screen was cracked and it definitely wasn’t ticking anymore.
Holly picked it up and looked it over. She wasn’t a clockmaker, but she was sure that she could find some pieces around the house. She went into the closet and went through Bill and Frank’s watches. Maybe she could teach herself how to fix Joel’s watch. She found a couple of watches she could use for parts and took them down to the bunker.
When Joel came out of the bathroom, now clean and dressed in fresh clothes, he noticed his watch was missing from the bedside table. “HOLLY!” he yelled. His booming voice made Ellie jump downstairs. He came thundering down the stairs.
“Well don’t you look pretty,” Ellie said, taking in Joel’s appearance.
He tossed her a stick of deodorant. “Nice.”
“Where’s Holly?”
“I think she went down to the bunker.”
Joel went out to the garage where the bunker was. He found Holly sitting at Bill’s workbench with his watch in her hand. “Don’t touch that!” He yanked it out of her hand.
As he was about to put it on, he realized that it had a new face and was it ticking. It looked just like it had the night everything went to Hell.
“I’m sorry. I just wanted to do something nice for you. You know, since you didn’t have to bring me with you. I also wanted to cheer you up. You’ve seemed down lately.” She didn’t mention that it was probably because he lost his partner.
Joel looked at her like he had never seen her before. There was a soft look in his eyes that she hadn’t seen since meeting him.
“Th…thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
“Are you two gonna make out now?” Ellie’s voice asked.
Holly blushed as Joel turned to the teenager. “Go back upstairs.”
“What? So you two can fuck?”
“Ellie!”
Ellie huffed and rolled her eyes, but went upstairs.
“How can I…?”
Holly shook her head. “You don’t have to repay me Joel, really. Just get us to Wyoming alive.” Holly went upstairs to gather her stuff so they could leave.
Joel looked down at his watch.
Normally it reminded him of Sarah, but now it would forever remind him of Holly as well.

Star
That night, they had to settle for a pasture for their bed. Antea wrapped herself snugly in her blanket and kept her dress on, but plants still poked in, prodding and scratching at the back of her neck. She struggled not to think about ticks and tall grass and lay staring up at the stars that melted across the sky and breathing in the sappy, green smell of broken grass. She asked the night sky, with all its beautiful constellations of the gods, "Jedan? With the bandit..."
"Yes?" His voice was guarded.
"Can you light up like that anytime?"
A long pause followed. "That's a really minor perk of being favored, yes."
"Give me some light. I want to read my book."
Something rustled, then warm golden light washed over her, illuminating every blade of grass and creeping insect that surrounded her. Jedan was sitting up in his own hollow in the grass, holding his glowing hand towards the sky. For a brief moment, every visible inch of his skin glowed as if he had turned into a firefly, and Antea caught her breath. The glow dimmed back down to his hand, and he said, "I'm not going to do this all night."
Antea grinned at him, her heart warm with wonder. "Just a few pages." And she stretched out of her blanket to dig out the book. It was nestled at the bottom of her bag, and despite the cool night, the cover felt warm under her hands. She skipped the first page because she'd already had that flashback, and opened it to the middle.
Another drawing of a dragon stared up at her, crouched ferret-like in the center of the page. It was a disdainful stare, the kind cats inflict on people who offend them. Below the elegant black drawing, someone had scrawled a few messy lines.
"What does it say?" Jedan asked.
She leaned in and read, "Climb the Demon's Tower, and at the top, you will find a dragon. The dragon will ask you questions. Not riddles, for dragons see no truth in riddles, but there will be questions."
"Huh," he said, resting the arm with the light on top of one knee. "I thought all mythological creatures went in for riddles."
"That's only sphinxes, I think. But I don't have a book on sphinxes."
"How did you end up with a book about dragons in the first place?"
She shut the book carefully and cradled it against her chest. "It's strange. But I think it found me."
His brows lifted. "It's an inanimate object."
"Yeah, but it's a weird object. I found it in the room where the librarians keep all the outdated stuff. It was in the magic section, but it wasn't even about magic. When I showed it to the head librarian, he acted like he'd never heard of it and then he gave it to me because he didn't want it!"
"That doesn't mean it picked you as its owner."
She hugged the book tighter until the corners bit into her arms. "I never said it did! Never mind about the light. I'm going to sleep." And she lay back down and wrapped her blanket around herself so tightly that a tick wouldn't even have room to come in.
"Antea," Jedan said. But he didn't say anything else, so she ignored him. She fell asleep with the spine of the book pressing into her chest.
Fall
Jedan stepped closer, his face very solemn. "It seems if you are being unjustly hunted that you would benefit from companions. Why not tell us what has happened and let us make our own decision whether to stay with you?"
Reza stared at him as if seeing him for the first time. "You're one of the favored."
He bowed to her, as graceful as if he were from some noble court. "The Lion Goddess."
Her eyes narrowed, and she drummed her fingers against her leg. "Then justice is your thing, and you have the goddess's ear. Look, if I tell you what has happened, will you talk to her? Convince her to do something?"
He spread empty hands. "I can pray."
"Well, none of mine have been answered, so I might as well try yours." Reza huffed and brushed the hair out of her face, then plopped down in the hay next to her stick and gestured for them to join her.
The hay was fresh and soft and dry, with a dusty, grassy scent that poofed up when Antea sank into a deep pile herself. Antea said, once everyone was settled, "So tell us your story."
Reza's hands clenched into fists. She bit out, "I'm a royal bastard."
Well, that would explain the dress.
Jedan's eyebrows flew up, and he sat up in the hay to stare at her. "I didn't know the king had any."
Reza laughed bitterly. "Neither did he. My mother didn't let him know when I was born because she had just gotten engaged to a nobleman who didn't care that she was already pregnant with another man's baby, and she really wanted the match to work. She loved my stepfather. Not the king. Never the king."
"Kings aren't particularly lovable, from what I've heard," Jedan said.
Reza nodded and drew her knees up to her chest. "So we lived seventeen years like that, and then my stepfather died. We ran out of money, and Mother's never worked a day in her life. She decided the king should give her money because of all the years she'd spent raising me, so she left me at home and went to corner him at the castle." Her mouth twisted and her eyes screwed up, and she let her chin fall to her knees.
"What happened?" Jedan asked softly.
"She never came back. The constables busted down the door to our house and tried to kill me."
Help
A man screamed, and Antea risked a look over her shoulder. The stranger was holding a bloody sword, standing over one of the bandits, who had fallen face-first, blood spreading in a puddle from around his neck. The second bandit ran at their unexpected ally and stabbed him in the gut, but the sword glanced off. The stranger, like the bandit, was wearing armor, and his counterattack took the bandit's head clean off.
Antea squeaked and covered her eyes, but she stopped running, and the footsteps of her companions shuffled to a stop. She peeked out between her fingers and found that the stranger was still there, leaning over one of the bodies, the one that still had its head. He wiped his blade clean on the clothes of the corpse and shoved it back in its sheath, and then he rolled the body over and rifled it.
"Thank you!" Antea called, taking a few unsteady steps forward. "The gods bless you, sir!"
The stranger grunted, and then he froze, staring down at the corpse, his broad hands gone tight on the stranger's belt-purse.
Jedan bowed in gratitude, and when he straightened his golden eyes were shining. "We are ill-equipped to deal with bandits, so your rescue is greatly appreciated."
The man rose slowly from the body without taking anything from it, wiping clean hands against his thighs. He said curtly, "They're not bandits. They're constables."
Antea clutched her chest and stumbled back, the breath catching in her throat. That was impossible. These were just bandits, and they weren't in uniform, just like the others, except they had all looked exactly the same.
Reza swayed where she stood, too, but there was nothing soft or unsure in her voice when she snapped, "I told you. I told you they would kill you, too, for being stupid enough to walk beside me."
Antea found her voice and waved her arms. "No, you have to be wrong because none of this makes sense. We were being attacked by these people before we even met you."
Jedan stood like a statue at Antea's side, but he turned his head to meet her eyes. "That's true, but why?"
The stranger stormed towards them, seeming taller and taller with every foot of ground he crossed. "You!"
He was a handsome man in his forties, with an aquiline nose and heavy brows that were deeply furrowed, casting shadows over his piercing eyes. His muscular body was tense as if the wrong move would drive him to hack them all to pieces, and Antea couldn't think of what the right move was. She didn't want to be beheaded for something she didn't even understand.
Antea took a step back as he joined them, barely restraining herself from running all the way back to the soldiers' post alone. "Yes? You saved us. You're currently my favorite person."
The man loomed over them with a reddened face, his nostrils flaring, his hand clenched tight around the hilt of his sword. "I was a constable, and now you have forced me to kill my brothers! Which of you is the criminal they are hunting?"
Indignation startled Antea out of her fear, and she swept an arm towards the dead men. "Forced you? You chose to help! None of us even asked you!"
Jedan stepped in front of her. "None of us are criminals, sir. I am favored by the Lion Goddess, and if any of us were an unjust person, I would feel it in my heart."
The man narrowed his eyes and pushed into Jedan's personal space to point a sharp finger in his face. "Perhaps you're the criminal. I'm sure the favored can go bad. Anyone can."
Jedan didn't flinch or back away, and he sounded genuinely curious when he asked, "Have you ever heard of it happening?"
The stranger glowered and let his finger drop, but he stayed too close to Jedan, close enough to reach out and grab him by the throat, and thus too close to Antea. "No, but that doesn't mean anything. I told you, everyone can go bad."
Daring the stranger's wrath, Antea inched up around Jedan's shoulder, her hands squeezing his arm for comfort. "If that's true, then why don't you take a closer look at these constables here? They were going around out of uniform, attacking innocent travelers on the road, travelers who can't even defend themselves. If anyone's gone bad, it's them."
Great
Jedan led them on a winding path through the hills. Antea couldn't resist reaching out to brush her fingertips over the boulders and short cliff faces that they passed. The rock dragged roughly against her skin, and up close it sparkled gaily in the sun, flecked with thousands of specks of mica. Here and there, pines grew on the rocky hillsides, wedged in cracks that seemed unable to support them, their roots trailing down like vines. Sprays of tiny purple and red flowers grew out of smaller crevices in the rock, accompanied by delicate ferns the size of Antea's littlest finger. Their path wound towards the largest, steepest hill at the center of everything, which had a full-sized cliff on one side. And there, carved into the heart of the cliff, were the stairs. The steps were each twelve feet tall at least, their sides perfectly vertical. They marched back into the hillside, and at the top, cut deep into the marrow of the hill, was the gaping black mouth of a cave.
Reza came to an abrupt stop and gaped, letting her skirts drop to the dirt. "This is what you were looking for? A creepy giant stair? Who made that?"
"Someone a long time ago," Jedan said. "I can't sense the makers. They're dead."
Antea stood before the bottom of the stairs and stared upward, trying desperately not to remember anything. She did remember dropping down them -- and nearly dying in the process -- after she'd woken up alone. For once her brain didn't beat her to death with the information.
She turned back towards Jedan. "Do we have to go in? Can't you just read where he went from here?"
"If he had written it in a small cottage, and I stood outside, then yes, but this cave system of yours is too large."
"Well, how are we going to get up them?" Reza asked, her face screwed up in a frown. "Unless one of you can fly."
Vilsel strode the rest of the way to the stair and ran a hand over the rock. "We don't need to fly, Your Highness. The steps are roughed out, not smooth."
"Well, I didn't say an expert craftsman made them," Antea said, following after him reluctantly. Up close, the bottom step towered above her head, far beyond what she could dream of reaching even standing on tip-toe.
Vilsel grinned sharply and tapped the stone riser. "This rock's full of finger and footholds. I can climb this, no problem."
Antea eyed it again, searching for the way up that Vilsel had described and finding nothing. "Really? It looks like a big wall of stone to me."
"See these edges? And the pockets here?"
She stepped away, her stomach lurching at the thought of resting her whole weight on tiny irregularities in the rock. "You do what you do. At least the fall isn't far enough to kill you."
Jedan coughed. "Like the constable who fell off his horse?"
She winced. "Well..."
"I'll be fine," Vilsel said, and he slung his haversack securely across his shoulders and wedged a foot in a crack Antea hadn't even noticed. She watched, jaw open, as he scaled the wall like a spider, clinging to the littlest of ledges. In less than a minute, he was at the top and digging through his haversack.
Jedan tilted his head, his expression more curious than surprised. "You rock-climb, don't you?"
Vilsel smirked down at him as he pulled a long length of rope out of his bag and laid it, coiled like a snake, on the step beside him. "Everyone needs a hobby."
"You mean you come to hills like this just to climb up and down things?" Antea asked. "Why bother?"
"I climb mostly in the mountains near Drazen. Why? Because it's challenging, and it's fun. I don't need any other reason." He pulled an odd metal stake and, of all things, a hammer, out of his haversack.
"What's that for?"
"It's a piton, to secure the rope. Shut up." And he drove the stake into a crack in the stone with great clanging strikes of his hammer. A minute later, he tied a handful of fat knots in the rope and threw it off the ledge, sending it slithering down the side of the step. "Reza, take those rings off. You can't climb with them. Antea, you go first. Just grab on, and climb from knot to knot."
"All right," she said. "I'll try not to have convulsions halfway up."

1034 WEST YORK STREET (PART 2)
April 4, 2000, my mother passed away from a gunshot wound to the head. She was attacked as she made her way home from work is what the papers said. Gang violence was at a high and no other questions were being asked. My mother's funeral was a blur for me. Maybe it was because he requested for her to be cremated, or maybe it was because I just sat there the entire time thinking about how loud that gunshot was. My family showed up for the funeral and disappeared soon after. I had no real contact with anyone after the passing of my mother. Alone and scared with him became my everyday existence from then on.
It was the rain and cold air that woke me up that morning. I had another day off from school for a holiday which was fine with me because I had my books to keep me company. I got up to use the bathroom when his smell hit me hard. I jumped back not knowing he was in the doorway. As I stepped back pain went through my stomach sending me to my knees. Looking up at him for a sign of mercy he turned around and walked away. Not knowing whether this was a good thing I tried to stand as the pain in my stomach got worse. Not sure as to why I was in so much pain I proceeded to the bathroom. As I wiped myself, I noticed that I was bleeding. Not sure as to how I was bleeding or where it came from, I ran water in the tub to take a bath.
After my bath I laid back down in my bed and kept feeling shocks of pain going through my stomach. I guess I made too much noise trying muffle my crying because I smelled him before he hit my doorway. What's wrong with you now! He yelled at me. I told him I was bleeding from my butt and was in pain. He gave me the most disgusting look and told me that he would be back. Scared that he was going to kill me I lay there thinking about my mom and how I would be with her soon. Minutes passed and then I heard a woman talking to him as they headed towards my room. Instead of giving me answers she was annoyed as she threw a plastic bag at me and left. I had never seen this woman before, and I had hoped that she would return but she never did. The bag she threw at me contained pads, chewable Tylenol, chocolate, and a book titled SO YOU'RE BECOMING A WOMAN. Confused I read through the book and educated myself on what was happening to my body. The book contained very visual pictures and guided me on how to use pads properly. I cleaned myself up and cried myself back to sleep with thoughts of my mother on my mind. Welcome to womanhood.
In school the kids were cruel, and I only had one friend. Everyone always had on the latest fashion, and I was stuck wearing what he could find. How I dressed was the last thing on my mind. Everyday away from home was a plus for me even if only for a couple of hours. I would volunteer to help in the school's library which added on to my constant bullying. I didn't care though nothing they did to me compared to what I was used to getting at home. In the library I was able to be myself and do what I love. The librarian was nice and let me take home as many books as I pleased since I read through them so fast. Books became my everything and my way of finding peace that no one could take away from me.
That was until November of 2000 came. It was a rainy night and the electric in the house had gone out just as I was getting to the good part of my goosebumps book. I had a flashlight and just as I turned it on his smell hit me hard. He told me that it wasn't good to read in the dark and that I would strain my eyes. Feeling disappointed I turned off the flashlight and went to put my book under my pillow. Before I could, he grabbed the book out of my hand and ripped it in half. I was so angry and fed up that I accidently spoke and yelled that it wasn't my book. A smack landed hard against my face followed by words of how I thought I was grown and smart because I read all the time. I thought he would leave after his tantrum like always, but this time was different. I spoke up for myself and I guess he decided to teach me a lesson. Grabbing the flashlight out of my hand he made me undress in the moonlight that came through my window. Not understanding why, I was naked he told me to lay across the bed and spread my legs. Panic set in and before I could lay down completely, he put a gun to my head. The same gun that he killed my mother with. I started to cry and piss myself I would have even called for my mom this time, but she was in a better place. It was just me him and his gun. He started yelling about how I was a whore that would never become anything in life and how I deserved everything that was coming to me. Not knowing what to do I started to think about my make-up and how my mom could cover up my bullet wound once he shot me, and I joined her in heaven. He pushed me on my bed snapping me out of my trance and bringing me back to reality. He pulled down his pants with one hand while holding the flashlight with the other. I didn't understand what he was doing and couldn't see much in the moonlight I just remember his smell smothering me from above and how heavy he was in top of me. He was trying to push my legs apart as I tried my best to push him off me. Screaming and crying I didn't know what was happening all I felt was something poke me between my legs that was hard and then something felt like it was cutting inside of me. I peed myself again as I kept trying to push him off me. Crying from the pain of him stroking his body into mine I remember his smell and how pretty the moonlight was from my window before I lost consciousness.
Waking up and looking around I felt like I was dreaming. My legs were very heavy, and my head hurt bad. The smell of pee consumed me as I sat up on the table. Instantly I knew I wasn't home because the smell of that woman filled the air. Looking around I was back in the tiny apartment in the same room as before with the lamp. Only this time the room was a little different it had big red curtains on the windows, and the table wasn't bare there was a towel under me. As the thought to why am I here again came across my mind the woman walked in. She was smaller than I remember from the first time but that familiar smell of sweet candies surrounded her as she came near me. She asked me how I felt, and I told her that my legs hurt and my head. I wanted to know what happened to me and how I got here but all she told me was that I was a very bad girl, and this is what happens when you are bad. Still lost about exactly what happened she told me that I had lost my virginity and seeing the confused look on my face she got quiet. She wanted to know if I started my period and I answered yes. She dug in her pocket and gave me two pills to take. As I swallowed them his smell lingered at the door as he stood in the doorway. Smelling him made me panic and I pissed myself again but this time it burned which led me to scream and grab myself. The burning stopped after a while but when I looked at my hand all I could see was blood. She told me to calm down and that the bleeding will stop as soon as I took a hot bath.
At home the house was still dark which means the lights were still out. Scared I stood at the bottom of the staircase as his smell hit me again. Standing over top of me he put the gun back to my head and almost at a whisper told me that if I ever told anyone what happened he would kill me. Not wanting to say anything that would make him angry I squeezed past him and made my way upstairs in the dark. In my room I searched for my flashlight which was on the floor by my bed and turned it on. What I had seen changed my life forever. There was so much blood on my sheets that I started shaking and crying again. In a panic I changed my sheets and searched for my lipstick. Sitting on the side of my bed putting on my lipstick gave me a sense of peace. Everything will be okay now I told myself because I had put my make-up on.

Daily Update 366 (Ketchup)
Recent Times When I’ve Thought About Yousht
1.) HS Musicals --> I bought new copies of the cast albums for the 2 musicals we did with Lanno in HS... I already had all 3 versions of the musical from with MS with Fluffy... I actually really like the musical we did your senior year, the 1967 version; it’s not nearly as obnoxious as I remember it... I thoroughly enjoyed it... For once, the thought of it gave me positive vibes... I have to give a listen to the other one we did, but I bought it with the most recent London version, which I heard... The point is, yousht would think I had copies of those 2 musicals already... But mine were just old burned copies from HS... The first one barely even worked... I don’t know why I never thought to buy them until now...
2.) Flat Tire --> Last night, I hit the curb, and got a flat tire on my way to Hadley to see Guardians Of The Galaxy 3... Don’t ask me how, but I managed to stop right at our local State Park... Where we’d go sometimes, when we first learned to drive... (I even lucked out that there was a port-a-potty!!!)... The point is, I thought of yousht immediately... And how there was one time yousht took me there at dusk, said “Don’t worry, we’re not gonna make-out” because it’s one of those classic spots, got out of the car, sat at the overlook, yousht told me your hopes and dreams, and I really did think yousht were going to kiss me... At least, I really wanted yousht to do so... Someday, I’m going to write a semi-autobiographical teen angst novel... I just don’t know if it’s going to be wish-fulfilment where we do hook-up, or the actual truth which was bittersweet...
3.) Perks Movie --> Speaking of us bonding in HS, I finally watched The Perks Of Being A Wallflower movie, which is of course, 11 years old already... WTF?!?... (As it were, it was still too soon after shit happened for me to watch it then...) I bought it, but I hadn’t even opened it... The point is, I laughed, I cried, I felt all sorts of things... It directly quoted the book... It filled me with nostalgia... It reminded me of why I read that book twice... Football games, mixtapes, diner food, Rocky Horror, parties... It was just weird, that before he turned evil, the drummer and I talked about how it should be a film... And then there it was a few years later... And I just could not bare to watch it.... And now that I have... I feel way more complete, and inspired, and probably infinite...
4.) Joyous Librarian --> My supervisor and I were chatting about prom, because her daughter (who also works with me) just went to hers... I told her about my actual prom, but not with much enthusiasm... And then I must have lit-up like a firecracker when I talked about yousht... And my semi-formal... And how that was my real prom... She started asking lots of questions... The point is, when I told her about how a coworker actually knows yousht, she could not believe it... She insisted I go see yousht... That you’re local... That I shouldn’t miss the opportunity... That who knows what could happen... She actually said, “Oh, I’m so happy for you, that’s so exciting...” Like, I told her you’re attached, and the first words out of her mouth were for me to ask our mutual what your status really is... I mean, yes, I said, “The guy I was in love with in HS”... So, I guess it implies I could still be in love with yousht, particularly since I’m still single... I don’t know... But I did also tell her child about the ridiculous connection to yousht that I found at work...
5.) Your Name --> As per usual, or really more so, I’ve seen your goofy first name everywhere these days... Especially, in a ton of the credits for TLM (Live Action)... And the guy who played Charlie Brown originally (yousht might have said)... And of course, on books at the library... The point is, I think it’s more specific then that... Like, I didn’t write it down, but sometimes your name would just show up at pointed moments... Where I go... Huh, of course... There it is... And I don’t know what to think anymore...
HONORABLE MENTION: HS Encounter --> A girl from Marching Band (who was my nurse last year), just walked into my job 10 minutes ago, looking for a private area to talk to somebody... She’s a big girl, 2/3 years older than me... Who has an identical twin... I gave her a tight hug, which I wasn’t able to do the last time I saw her... And then she just left, because we don’t have a quiet study room she can use... The point is, holy crap, I’m writing to yousht again, after 3 months have passed... Then, in walks someone who knew us when... Who first told me to go to more punk/ska shows, like I used to do, and either say “hi” to your or not... But to just go and have a good time... Who just told me I look so good, and am doing what I want to be doing... Like, I’m downstairs in Children’s, say what?!?
***DISCLAIMER***: You’re still so relevant to me... There’s some air of yousht surrounding me, still... I was gonna say that your presence is still felt... But I didn’t believe it completely... Until right this very second... I mean, I don’t get my life... My heart wants to change directions (and it has in some way), yet I find yousht everywhere... It’s not necessarily a direct clue... But there always ends up being something... Do I just miss yousht?!?... Is it more?!?... Yousht were everything to me and I was nothing without you, but yousht also strung me along and never made a legitimate move... Then, we’d only get each other after the fact... What does it all mean, seriously dude, please tell me?!?
BTW, I eat ketchup, now... Not all the time... But, it happens... <@@@

The Librarian
pairing: Rhett Abbott x Librarian fem!reader

a/n: finally! it's here! i hope you all enjoy it!
Rhett had been surprised when he heard that Cecilia signed Amy up for a summer reading program. Summer was meant for fun and helping out around the ranch, not having your nose stuffed in a book. Amy seemed happy about it though, so Rhett didn’t question it too much. What Rhett did question was why he had to go pick her up.
“It’s just for today, Rhett.” Rhett huffed and rolled his eyes for a moment. Rhett got to his feet, grabbing his ball cap and placing it on his head. Why couldn’t she just go pick her up? She was the one who enrolled Amy in the program anyways. Amy was a smart young girl, she made him proud to call her family. Sometimes he wondered how such a smart person had come out of their family. It wasn't that they weren't smart, just not necessarily book smart. Perry had been the only one who went to college, making Rhett hope Amy would eventually follow Perry's footsteps.
After Rhett muttered an agreement, he grabbed his keys and headed out to his truck. The ride into town wasn't too bad, hot like any other summer day. The heat like this reminded Rhett of his youth, days when he was much more concerned about looking cool than reading a book. A chuckle or two would come out when he thought about it by himself, remembering how much of a prick he used to be. He never spent much time in the library growing up, it was never something that interested him. It tended to just remind him of how much he had hated school.
Rhett pulled into the parking lot of the library, killing his engine with a twist of his keys. He waited for a moment before checking his phone.
pick up is inside the library - mom
Rhett rolled his eyes once more, exiting the vehicle and heading up to the doors. Sometimes he wondered how Wabang was able to have such a nice library. Afford one that wasn't falling apart. Rhett made his way in, finding his way up to the main desk. A middle aged woman greeted him, answering his question and pointing him in the right direction. Rhett walked past a few different areas before coming up on a slightly open space. Couches and tables with chairs littered the area with about fifteen kids sitting at them. Some kids were talking amongst themselves, while only a select few were actually reading.
"Can I help you?" A soft and oddly familiar voice interrupted his sight seeing. Rhett was surprised when he turned, seeing you looking at him. It had been years since he'd seen you, high school in all honesty. He hadn't even heard that you were back in town. He didn't remember you ever looking this cute.
"I.. I'm.." You smiled at him, watching as he tumbled over his words. He closed his mouth, jaw clenching as embarrassment plagued him.
"Well, hello to you too, Rhett. I'm assuming you're here for Amy?" Rhett nodded. Why couldn't he just fucking talk?
"When did you get here?" Rhett asked bluntly. One of your eyebrows raised, a little confused by the question.
"Do you mean when I showed up behind you? Or when did I come back to Wabang?"
"The second one." Finally, his words were working again. Rhett looked you up and down for a moment, taking in your brown overalls and white long sleeve shirt. You were holding onto a few children's books, a small silver necklace hanging around your neck.
"Earlier this year, got this job shortly after. I've been flying under the radar. Under your radar." It wasn't a secret that the two of you had a history. Throughout high school the two of you pined over one another, that was until Maria came along. It hurt a little at first, knowing that you weren't Rhett's first choice, but you also knew that his hormones were too high at the time. By junior year the two of you had moved on, only making small talk when needed during class or at school events.
Your family had always been singled out as the "weird" family in Wabang. It was mainly because your family didn't ranch. They didn't do anything relatively "normal" for the culture in Wabang, aside from taking you and your siblings to the rodeo every now and then. It had never bothered you, and sometimes Rhett wondered if that was why he had a crush. You were different, but not too far off. Always had your nose stuck in a book instead of trying to get fucked after the Friday night football game.
Rhett let out an amused noise at your confession.
"That so?" Rhett smiled at you, the curve gathering to one side of his mouth.
"No, it's not. Just pushing your buttons." There it was, that odd quirkiness that seemed to pull Rhett in so long ago. He watched you give him a wink before you walked over to Amy. She was sitting at a table alone, reading a book. His heart warmed as he watched you tap Amy's shoulder for her attention. You leaned over and whispered that Rhett was here to pick her up. Amy immediately lit up, excited that her uncle was the one retrieving her.
Amy quickly gathered up all of her things, shoving her book into her backpack before you walked her over to Rhett. "I didn't know you were getting me today." Amy said with a bit of excitement. Rhett smiled at her words.
"Neither did I." Amy giggled quietly as she started to head towards the front of the library. Rhett nodded his head at you, a soft smile still plastered on his lips.
"I'll see you around."
"Yeah, see you around cowboy."

-
Rhett couldn’t believe that he volunteered to pick Amy up. Again. Rhett was finding him picking her up from her reading program more often than he wanted to admit. It had been two full weeks into June, meaning the program was one third of the way done. Cecilia informed him after the first day that it was a six week program. Six lucky weeks that Amy got to spend with you.
Rhett didn’t want to admit that he was going to see you. But he knew deep down that was the main reason. Seeing you for not even a full five minutes was slowly becoming the highlight of his days. Amy and Cecilia also started to notice his happy demeanor after picking her up.
“What’s got you so uppity?” Cecilia asked when they walked through the door. A devilish smirk appeared on Amy’s face. She set her backpack down near the table. Rhett rolled his eyes at the both of them, setting his keys on the table.
“Uncle Rhett likes the librarian.” Rhett narrowed his eyes at her, a look of disbelief on his face. Amy giggled as she watched Rhett shake his head at her and held his finger up to his lips. It was supposed to be their secret, one they didn’t speak about. Cecilia turned around with a smirk on her face.
“It ain’t Mrs. Benson, is it?” Cecilia joked with Amy. Rhett gave her a simple ‘what the fuck’ face, listening to Amy giggle some more.
“No, Grandma! Mrs. Benson’s too old for Uncle Rhett. It’s Miss Y/LN.” Cecilia raised an eyebrow, acting surprised. It wasn’t like she had forgotten who you were, or who your family was. She remembered Rhett talking about you a little bit in high school, and how you would volunteer at the local old folks home. Cecilia had always known you were a kind soul, something she knew that might work out Rhett's rough edges. Amy trotted off to the stairs, running up the steps quickly to go search her room for something.
“Rhett..” He gave her a curious look, not exactly able to pinpoint the tone in her voice. Cecilia threw her dish towel up over her shoulder, leaning back against the kitchen counter.
“What ‘ma?” Rhett didn’t like her silence. He slowly started to recognize the situation more than the tone of her voice.
“That’s Amy’s teacher right now. You can’t be messing anyth-”
“I ain’t messing anything up, ‘ma. Besides.. She’d be too smart for me anyways.” Rhett smiled while he thought about you. It had been a long time since someone made him feel like this. Feel more than just the urge to fuck. It was an urge to meet you, learn everything about you, the ins and outs of your very essence.
“Well someone has to be smart enough to look out for you. Lord knows me and Perry can’t do it forever.” Rhett’s gaze flicked up at her from that table, a glint in his look. He hated to admit it was the truth. He wasn’t rushing to settle down anytime soon, but he sure did yearn for it from time to time. And one of those times happened to be now.
Which is what led him to now. Sitting in the parking lot of the library, twenty minutes before he was supposed to arrive. His foot was tapping on the floor near the gas pedal, his nerves finally starting to get to him. After the conversation with Cecilia, he planned to ask you out. But now it was one week later, three full weeks into the summer program. He looked up at the ceiling of his truck, pulling the brim of his hat down to cover his eyes. “Fuck.”
Rhett moved out of his truck, finally deciding that this was it. It was now or never. He tipped his hat to Mrs. Benson who gave him a small smile. “You’re early, Rhett.” He nodded his head to her, walking up to the front desk.
“I know Mrs. Benson, I was hoping to talk with Miss Y/LN. I don’t want to interrupt the kids though.” Rhett whispered to her with a smile. It was a partial truth, he didn’t want to interrupt them. He also didn’t want them to see him ask out their summer learning teacher. Mrs. Benson gave him a knowing look. Was it actually that obvious?
“She’s in the back room. There will be a door all the way down the third aisle of the non-fiction area. Just over there.” Mrs. Benson pointed in a direction near where the kids would be, but not that exact spot. Rhett tipped his hat and gave her a nod with a thank you. He headed off to find you, making sure he didn’t get lost somewhere in the library. Perry would never let him live that down.
Rhett peaked around the corner of what he thought was the third aisle. He was rewarded by seeing an open door at the end of it. He made his way down the aisle, knocking on the wooden door frame when he got to the doorway. He poked his head in, looking around in the old store room. It wasn’t very big, but sizable. There were three aisles within the room, made by many bookshelves that housed old, unused, and extra copies of books.
“Come in!” He recognized your voice immediately. There was a small rustling noise that came from the third aisle, letting him know where to find you. After a few steps into the room he peered around, finding you on your tip-toes trying to grab a book from above.
“Need any help?” Rhett asked, hoping you would entertain his offer. He took in your outfit, a knee length maroon skirt with a neatly tucked in beige button down. A pair of slip-on black Toms covered your feet, which you rolled back onto after not reaching the book. You looked down the aisle at him, surprised to see him, a small smile covered your lips.
“Some help would be much appreciated. Normally,” he made his way down the aisle, “there is a stool. But it is MIA today apparently.” Rhett nodded with a smile, reaching for the book you pointed at. You checked your watch, seeing there was another fifteen minutes before pick up. “Pretty early today, Rhett.”
“Yeah,” he handed the book to you and watched you flip the pages, “I wanted to talk to you.”
“Oh, that so?” You looked at him, his warm oases staring down to meet your own eyes.
“Yeah, it is.” You moved back, leaning against the wall behind you. Rhett moved to stand in front of you, your hands clutching the book to your chest. Your heart fluttered, this exact situation being something you had dreamed about since meeting him. You could tell something was different, he was a little different. It wasn’t just the awkward small talk the two of you had while he picked Amy up.
“Well, go on.” Rhett bit his bottom lip for a moment, thinking about the right way to ask you. He had been over it multiple times prior, but now his mind was failing him.
“Would you like to go out? Like to dinner or something.” Rhett ran his tongue over his bottom lip, pulling your gaze away from his. You watched as the slick muscle glided over the dry skin, wetting it thoroughly. Rhett took notice and moved a little bit closer to you. Your cheeks filled with a warmth when you noticed how close he was, only a few inches away.
“I-I would like that, Rhett.” He never thought he would be able to get someone as articulate as you, to stumble over her words. You looked away for a brief moment, turning your head to look down the hallway. Rhett brought a finger up to your cheek, gently pulling your face back to face him. A soft smile matched his soft gaze. He tipped his hat up, leaning closer to you.
When his lips pressed against your it was like fireworks went off. It was gentle, a gentleness you were surprised Rhett had inside of him. One of his hands moved to your waist, just resting, while the other cupped your jaw and cheek. Three weeks of small talk and ruminating on memories had finally come to a precipice. The kiss wasn’t anything crazy, maybe the beginnings of what could have been an intense makeout. Rhett pulled back, the hand on your waist moved to adjust his hat a little bit. His thumb was rubbing your cheek, making your heart flutter.
“When do you want me to pick you up?”
-
-
“There ain’t no way.”
“No, I’m being serious!” The two of you had moved to the Handsome Gambler after diner, deciding to get a few drinks.
“How am I supposed to believe that little ol’ you stole a traffic cone?” Rhett could barely picture it in his brain. University years you drunkenly toting home a traffic cone. Not to mention the fact you were apparently living in the dorms at the time.
“I was different then, more wild.” You sipped at your cider while watching him. That dopey smile appeared again, making your heart flutter. It was true that your years at university were a bit more wild. Experiencing everything that wasn’t little ol’ Wabang was exciting at the time. You tried to experience as much as you could while at university. Partying, drinking, smoking, fucking, etc. It was all new and something you needed to try, at least once.
“I just,” Rhett leaned across the table a little bit as his voice lowered, “can’t really picture it.” You cocked your head to the side, giving him a questioning look.
“Picture what, Mr. Abbott?” Rhett felt a heat rise to his cheeks at your words. Mr. Abbott had always been a title reserved for his father, but he couldn't ignore what it stirred up in him. He leaned back into the booth seat, his hand holding his beer firmly on the table.
"Picture you out partying and what not. I'm just used to you being a little bookmouse." Rhett was mentally kicking himself in the ass. Bookmouse? What the hell was that?
"A bookmouse?" Rhett flushed even more, trying to hide his embarrassment.
"Yeah," Rhett thumbed the rim of his glass bottle, "cause you liked books and were quiet." Another flutter. You couldn't help but smile at Rhett's cuteness. The way he was talking, both awkwardly and confidently, made you giggle.
"Well, this bookmouse did a lot more than just read books at university." You winked at him. Rhett's mind swirled with possibilities of what you meant. He shifted in his seat, adjusting himself in his pants. "Maybe I'll show you some day."
Rhett raised an eyebrow at your proposition. Fuck, he liked the sound of that. He leaned over the table one more time, "How's about we get out of here?" Eyes flicking towards the door.
"I'd love to but," Rhett's eyebrows knitted together, "I gotta get stuff ready for the kids tomorrow." Rhett had almost forgotten that it was the middle of the week. He actually had forgotten until you grounded him. Rhett nodded, jaw clenching in a casual way. He wasn’t annoyed at you, more or less annoyed with the situation. Rhett loved that you enjoyed helping the kids with reading, making sure they grew up smart. Just like you.
“How’s about,” you mocked with a glint in your eye, “you take me home, cowboy?” Rhett smirked at your request, watching you finish off your bottle of cider. He nodded and finished off his own drink. He climbed out of the booth and offered his hand out to you. You gladly took it, lacing your arm around his.
The walk to his truck was full of giggles, your feet not wanting to keep you balanced. It had been awhile since you decided to drink, mainly leaving it back in your university days. Rhett was there for every stumble though, a smile plastered on his face while he caught you. When the two of you got to his truck you leaned near the rear fender, staring at him. A soft giggle came out of you, earning you a cute questioning face from Rhett.
“Hmm?” Rhett crept closer to you, his hands grabbing the top of the truck's bed. Rhett had effectively caged you between him and his truck. “What’s got you gigglin’ like that?” Rhett leaned towards you, bringing a hand up to tip up the brim of his hat. Rhett was only a few inches away from your face. Rhett couldn’t get enough of this, seeing you nearly pinned underneath him.
“You’re cute.” Rhett could smell a hint of cider on your breath, lacing your words while you talked. “I want you to come home with me.”
“You’re pretty cute yourself.” Rhett tilted his head so his lips were near your ear, “And that could be arranged.” Rhett’s hand traveled down to your waist. You squinted at him, remembering your words from earlier.
“We can’t do anything tho-” The hand that was on the truck came to your cheek as his lips covered yours. It was another gentle kiss, just like the one earlier in the back room. Your hands rested against his chest while his lips worked over yours.
“We don’t have to.” Rhett didn’t want to pressure you into anything. He wanted this to work out. He yearned for it to work out. “I’ll help you get stuff ready for the kids, promise.” Rhett pressed a small kiss to your cheek before removing himself from you. He stepped towards the passenger side door, opening it and gesturing for you to climb in. “Hop on in.”
The ride back to your little house was quick, not too far out of town. You always deemed yourself lucky by getting somewhere this close in town, not out in the middle of nowhere. Rhett’s hand sat planted on your thigh, thumb rubbing small circles during the ride. Rhett made sure to get the door for you, offering his hand to stabilize you when you stepped out of his truck. A smile spread across his face when he saw the inside of your place. Art adorned the walls while the shelves of your bookcases were packed full. It was messy but neat, something Rhett always found captivating about you.
“Whatcha think?” You toed your shoes off while you looked at him, balancing yourself against the wall. Rhett took off his own boots then followed you into the kitchen.
“It’s you.” Rhett couldn’t think of any other way your house would be. It felt homey. It felt like you. You grabbed out two glasses from the cabinet, filling them up with water from the sink. You offered him one, which he reluctantly accepted. Water wasn’t his favorite type of drink, but it would do for now. Rhett placed his hat on your kitchen table, sitting down while you sat across from him.
For the rest of the night the two of you joked while getting around your items for the program. Rhett questioned your choices of coloring pages, while you pressured him to drink more water to sober up. A warmth had spread all over him, knowing this is the spot he wanted to be. He wanted to be here helping you get wax paper ready for sun catchers, and laughing about the embarrassing old things the two of you had done.
“Sleep is finally catching up with me.” You checked your phone briefly, seeing how late it was. Rhett hadn’t realized how late it actually was. A part of him was surprised that you were even up this late. He thought you might be the type that went to bed at 10pm almost every night.
“It’s about time I left then.” Rhett didn’t want to leave, he wished he could stay forever. He reached for his hat, fingers barely touching it when he spoke up.
“Or you could stay.” Your eyes met his, watching as his tongue wetted his bottom lip. Rhett tugged his bottom lip between his teeth. The proposition was too tempting.
“Would that be okay?” His cerulean eyes never left yours. After a moment you averted your eyes and nodded. The two of you placed your cups in the sink before making your way back to your bedroom. A nervousness was settling inside of you, a part of you worried that things would get out of hand. Rhett noticed this and placed his hands on your shoulders, pulling you in so his chest was pressed against your back. “It’ll be okay, we won’t do anything you don’t want to.”
Rhett wouldn’t admit it, but he was also nervous. Nervous to finally have you in this manner, something so domestic. It was scary, opening himself up to someone. It was more terrifying than riding a thousand pound bull. The thrill was much different though. “I don’t have any pants for you to sleep in.” Rhett nuzzled his face into the crook of your neck.
“I’ll wear my underwear, if that’s fine.” You reassured him that that was okay before moving out of his grasp. You dug into your own dresser, finding your own sleep shorts and then an old t-shirt. You excused yourself to the bathroom, taking your clothes to change into. You hadn’t expected your nerves to ramp up.
After you brushed your teeth and changed you made your way back to your bedroom. Rhett sat on the edge of his bed, typing out something on his phone. He had shucked off his pants and flannel while you were gone, sitting in his grey boxer briefs and white t-shirt. A flutter stirred inside your chest, making your nerves jump up again. Rhett set his phone on the side table before noticing you were back.
“Oh, hey.” A small smile covered his lips when he saw you. God, you were so fucking beautiful. He took in your messy hair and old Wabang High t-shirt, one that he probably also had laying around somewhere.
“There is a spare toothbrush in the bathroom cabinet.” Rhett nodded before standing up. He stopped next to you, bringing a hand up to your cheek. A small kiss was placed on your forehead. Rhett’s thumb rubbed softly against your cheek until he left for the bathroom. You climbed into bed, a loving smile on your face.
Many thoughts swirled around in your head but one specifically stood out. He is the one you would want to do this with every night. He is the one you wanted to be domestic with. The one you didn’t want to screw up with. Rhett was the one.

The sound of your alarm woke you up first. You quickly turned it off, not wanting the blaring noise to continue any longer. When you laid back down a firm arm wrapped around your midsection. It reminded you that there was someone else inside of your bed. Rhett Abbott. He was pulling you back into his toned chest.
Heat radiated from his chest to your back, igniting a flame inside of you. This is everything you ever wanted. The man you had always wanted curled up behind you, keeping you close to him. If it wasn’t for having to work you would lay here all day with him. Rolling around in the sheets, the both of you treating each other to all the pleasures you had to offer. But alas, the library was calling. You went to sit up, the firm arm not releasing you.
“Don’t.” His voice was gruff, soaked in sleep still. When you looked at him he kept his face pressed into your shoulder blade, rutting his hips into your ass lightly. The heat in your chest moved up to your cheeks, his erect cock pressing into the flesh of your ass. A small part of you loved that he wasn’t even trying to hide it. Hide the effect you had on him, especially so early in the morning.
“Rhett, I have to.” Rhett nuzzled into you, pressing his hips harder into your ass. Rhett was really trying to get you to stay, tempting you with something you both wanted. You didn’t have intentions of giving in fully, but what would be the harm and giving him something to remember?
Rhett’s hand gripped on your hip, you rolling your ass back onto his cock. A groan emanated out of him. “Fuck.” You pulled back from him and rolled over to face him. Rhett moved onto his back as you shifted to hover over him slightly. Your hand snaked under the blanket, palming his dick under the covers. Rhett let out a few more groans and profanities, eventually pushing the blanket down to his mid thigh.
Rhett’s breath was a touch shaky as you dipped your hand below the elastic band. His hips bucked slightly when you fully grasped his cock. Rhett groaned at the contact of your soft hand on his cock. “Fuck, darlin’.” His head fell back into the pillows as you watched him, feeling his cock pulse under your touch. Rhett’s hands drifted to push his boxer briefs down, letting you get a full view of everything. Rhett looked back up at you, oases warm and inviting as ever.
You connected your lips with his, consuming his groans while you continued to stroke his cock. His hips bucked every now and then, trying to get more friction. When you pulled back from the kiss, you moved your mouth down over his cock in your hand. After stopping your strokes you locked eyes with Rhett, letting a large glob of spit fall off your tongue to his cock in your hand. Rhett groaned as you resumed your strokes, a new slick feeling to your hand. You ran your thumb over his head every now and then, collecting his precum to mix with your spit.
“So dirty.” It was all Rhett could say as his hand gripped the back of your neck, pulling you up to him. He smashed his lips into yours, tongue forcing its way into your mouth. You never thought Rhett could get this needy, but god did you love it. Rhett’s cock started to twitch more often in your hand, signaling his orgasm was approaching. You pressed your forehead to his when you pulled back from the kiss. Then as faint as a whisper you heard him speak. “Please.”
“Give it to me Rhett, let go.” Rhett’s free hand moved to push up his t-shirt, showing off his flexing abdomen. Without another second Rhett was spilling his cum on your hand and his stomach. A ragged ‘fuck’ fell from his lips, with whimpers mixed with groans following. You stroked him through his orgasm, his hips stuttering and bucking with every stroke. Rhett couldn’t remember the last time a hand job made him feel this good.
Rhett laid there, blissed out on the bed. Rhett could barely focus on the world around him, only focusing on the amazing hand job he just had. He was pulled back from his thoughts when he felt a warm wet washcloth drag over his stomach, He groaned softly when you wiped off his cock, cleaning off all potential left over cum.
Rhett smiled as he watched you toss the washcloth into the hamper, moving back over to him on the bed. “That enough to hold you over?” Rhett pulled his boxer briefs back up around his waist. He leaned up and kissed you, one of his hands cupping your cheek.
“More than enough.”

For the next three weeks Rhett made it a point to show up for pick up early. He would seek you down in the library, not caring if you were with the kids or not. If you were with the kids he would patiently wait, scanning whatever bookshelves were closest. That’s where you caught him today.
“Gonna start reading anytime soon?” Rhett looked up from the shelf to see you. You were wearing a pair of mom jeans today, something you corrected him on a few weeks ago. The baggy sweater you wore complimented them. Rhett put on a little bit of an embarrassed smile as you crept a bit closer. He took his cowboy hat, leaning in a bit closer to you. He was only a few inches away from you now.
He couldn’t help but stare at you. How did he manage to actually capture your attention? Someone this ethereal giving him the time of day seemed like a dream. Your eyes flicked from his cerulean eyes to his lips. Rhett brought his hat up to the side of your faces, shielding anyone from seeing the two of you. It felt like the heat of the library had been turned up a few degrees.
Just as he was about to kiss you, you put your hand up to his chest. Rhett stopped immediately, not wanting to push too far. It wasn’t that he was worried about you not wanting him. You definitely wanted him, or at least that’s what he picked up on from late night texts and pictures you had sent him. “Hmm?”
“I don’t want any of the kids to see.” Rhett smiled. That was one thing he had learned to love about you within the few weeks. Even though they tended to be too much sometimes, you always thought of your summer program kids first.
“You’re right,” Rhett took a step back from you, “wouldn’t want them to get any ideas.” He placed his hat back on his head.
The two of you slowly made your way over to the work area for the kids. They were reading, as usual. You had told Rhett that this was the best way to get the kids to calm down before handing them back to their parents. Amy had always been a relatively calm kid, so he couldn’t imagine what she’d be like riled up.
“End of the week?” Rhett was counting down the days. Waiting for the end of the program to finally show up. Waiting for the night he could take you out, show you how much he cared about you. Rhett ashamedly couldn’t wait to bed you either. His own hand was starting to get boring, the only thing spicing it up was the half naked photos you sent him accompanied by texts about what you’d like to do with him. His brain clung to the memory of you jerking him off, something he couldn’t let go of. Which made the next day extra special.
Rhett barely got a lick of sleep that night, fisting his dick harshly until he came to the picture you sent him. It was as if you knew the effect you were having on him. Sending a picture in this old cowboy hat you had found somewhere, black lace bra and panties on display. It was a good thing that Rhett wasn’t a religious man, because he would definitely be condemned to hell after this month.
So, Rhett made sure to show up to the library an hour early that day, not just fifteen or twenty minutes. Mrs. Benson politely told him that you were in the back room again, a bit of a confused look on her face. He bee-lined for the back room, silently walking in and closing the door behind him. He made sure to switch the lock on the back room door before looking up and down the aisles for you. He found you in the third aisle, in just the outfit he needed you to wear for his plan. He had double checked in the morning, asking for an outfit picture which earned a small winky face with a picture.
The plaid skirt flared out from your hips, stopping at a little bit before your knees. A baggy cardigan covered your top, making Rhett wonder if you had a tank top or anything underneath it. God, he wished he could have done this sooner.
“Hey.” Rhett watched you jump slightly, spooked by his presence.
“Oh my god, Rhett. You scared me.” You held your hand over your chest, Rhett’s eyes trailing to look at your fingertips touching the bare skin of your clavicle. Nope, no tank top. It was the skin he craved to mark up, leave little trails that you could remember him by daily.
“Wasn’t my intention.” He flashed a crooked smile as he took a few steps closer. You could tell there was something different about him today, almost as if he was stalking you. When he reached you he pecked your cheek, making your heart flutter. You loved that he still had this effect on you. You checked your wristwatch, realizing he was much earlier than normal.
“What’s got you coming in so early? There ain’t another hour, well, forty-five-ish minutes before you have to be here.” You went to turn back to face the shelf but Rhett grabbed your wrist.
“Wanted to give you a surprise.” Rhett walked around you, guiding you so your back was almost against the bookshelf.
“A surprise? I don’t recall you saying you had one for me.” Rhett chuckled at your words, leaning in and kissing your jawline.
“Wouldn’ be much of a surprise then, now would it?” Rhett’s lips trailed down your neck, nipping every now and then. Your hands instinctively moved to his chest and shoulders, the material of his flannel soft under your fingertips. One of his hands settled on your waist while the other cradled the other side of your jaw and neck. A soft noise escaped you, urging Rhett to continue with his plan.
“Been waiting weeks,” he lips were soft on your neck in between words, “waiting patiently.” The hand on your waist found the bottom of your baggy cardigan. It was thrilling when he pushed it up slightly, his calloused fingertips grazing over the newly exposed skin.
“Rhett, I-”
“I locked the door.” He pulled back, pupils blown wide with lust as he stared at you. “Wanna make you feel good, the same way you did to me.” You checked your wrist watch again, seeing there was still forty minutes before you had to get the kids ready to leave.
“You better make it quickly then, Mr. Abbott.” Rhett groaned at the title you called him. You had picked up on it throughout the weeks, noticing how his breath would hitch after hearing it. Rhett smashed his lips into yours, a messy kiss pursuing.
The hand grazing your skin under your cardigan moved to the front of your skirt. Fingers dipped between the apex of your thighs, pressing tightly on your pussy. A moan was torn out of you, not expecting Rhett to do this. Was this the surprise he was talking about? It had to be. The hand on your pussy left your body, Rhett pulling back for a moment.
“I wanna taste you.” It felt like the breath had been knocked out of you. You pulled your bottom lip between your teeth, slightly worried about the situation. What if someone were to walk in? Rhett did say he locked the door though. Finally you spoke.
“Depends on how quick you can be, Mr. Abbott.” A smirk tugged at his lips. Without warning, Rhett started to drop to his knees. His hands moved to the hem of your skirt, barely brushing the skin of your thighs.
“Don’t worry ma’am, I can be quick.” The heat in your cheeks boiled as you nodded your head. He pushed the plaid skirt up your thighs, kissing newly exposed skin. “Hold this.” Rhett said as he offered the edge of your skirt to you. You grabbed the material, holding it in your hands tightly. Rhett let out a groan when he saw your soft pink lace panties.
Without warning Rhett pressed his fingers against your panties, rubbing softly at first. Rhett could feel a wetness soaking through the front of your panties. He watched as your hands tightened on your skirt, faltering slightly. His hand touched yours, eyes flicking up to meet yours. “Keep your skirt up, sweetheart.” Your cheeks burned at the pet name he had started to call you through the weeks.
Rhett moved closer, fingers hooking into the waistband of your panties. He slowly guided them down your legs, taking them off and sneakily placing them in his back pocket. He pressed quick kisses to your thighs before reaching your bare cunt. Rhett pushed his tongue between your folds, licking at your clit. You used one hand to hold your skirt, stabilizing yourself with the bookshelf behind you.
Your mouth hung agape as Rhett flicked and licked at your pussy. One of his arms wrapped under your thigh, placing one of your legs over his shoulder. You gripped the shelf behind you tighter, pleasure mounting inside of you. Rhett brought a hand up, slipping a finger inside of your entrance. It was a stretch, but it wasn’t enough. The sensation made you yearn for more, yearn for more of Rhett to be inside of you.
“Rhett..” His name was barely a whisper on your lips, trying to stay quiet. You looked over at your wrist watch once more, noticing only ten minutes had passed. Rhett pushed another finger inside of you, earning a moan as your head lolled back. His two fingers thrusted into you as his mouth gave all its attention to your clit.
“You taste so good.” Rhett whispered just loud enough for you to hear. “Been thinking about this for weeks.” The hand on your skirt tightened a little bit more, your hips starting to cant forward. You started to roll your hips against Rhett’s mouth, the vibrations from one of his groans adding to your pleasure. Rhett’s fingers prodded at that sensitive spot inside of you, increasing the speed of his tongue flicking your clit.
With that combination you let go, coming all over Rhett's mouth. Rhett’s tongue switched from the quick flicks to slow languid strokes, helping not to overstimulate you too much. Soft moans poured out of you, riding out your climax on Rhett’s tongue. Rhett pulled away from you, his fingers leaving you empty inside. A strong desire within you wished he would fill you again, with his cock this time. But you knew that there wouldn’t be any time for that.
Rhett helped lower your leg down, standing up and making sure you were stable. You let your skirt fall, reaching out and grabbing his hand. You brought his hand up to his mouth, taking the two fingers covered in your cum into your mouth. Your tongue swirled around his digits, making him groan and adjust himself in his jeans.
“You’re so dirty.” Rhett whispered against your cheek, his forehead resting against your temple. “Told you you tasted good, don’t ya?” You nodded. You popped off of his fingers, licking your lips afterwards.
“Can I get my underwear back?” You asked playfully. Rhett smirked again, giving you your answer. “Really?”
“It’s my prize, sweetheart.”
The two of you left the back room, earning a questioning look from Mrs. Benson. It was only ten minutes before the other children's parents would start showing up. Rhett hung around and chatted with you, letting Amy keep reading her book. Which ended up with her still reading after all of the other kids had left. Rhett said she could use the time, but you knew the real reason why he was hanging around.

It was a Friday night, which meant the summer program was over. It had ended that morning, Rhett showing up early to pick Amy up for the last time. He hadn’t mentioned this ride all week, probably not wanting to pressure you into coming. But you wouldn’t have considered it pressuring, you wanted to see him.
Rhett was beyond happy to see you out at his competition tonight. Even more happy when you gave him a small kiss, telling him to break a leg. It was something you had picked up in college, your theater friends explaining that it was bad luck to wish someone good luck before a show. Which you had explained to Rhett briefly one night while the two of you were cuddled up watching a movie. Rhett couldn’t help but think that was what saved him during his ride, when his hand felt like it was gonna slip from the rope. It didn’t though, finishing his ride without anything bad happening.
Tonight was the first time he was allowed to show any type of overly affectionate PDA. Finding you after his ride couldn’t come soon enough. You were hanging out near the rider area, patient as always. Rhett just needed you, needed to thank you for everything. You let out a squeal when his arms snaked around you, picking you up and spinning you around. You quickly grabbed for your glasses, making sure they wouldn’t fall off your face. Hoots and howls could be heard from the other riders. Rhett tipped his hat after he set you down, hand caressing your jawline. His lips connected with yours, butterflies fluttering in your stomach.
It was a gentle kiss, like a lot of the kisses you had shared so far. Kisses at the library, when he took you home after dinner, on the couch cuddled up. So many gentle kisses before, but this one was different. It was something unspoken in this one. An unspoken amount of love for one another.
“Let me take you home.” He whispered, adrenaline still pumping through his system. Rhett hunted down Perry, instructing him to drive his truck home. Perry gave him a knowing look before telling him he was proud of him.
Your heart raced as you sat in the passenger seat, Rhett driving the both of you back. His hand was glued to the inside of your thigh, thumb rubbing small circles. It wasn’t that you were nervous to be with Rhett, that was not it. It was the gravity of the day. The two of you had been keeping things as steady as possible, not wanting anything to get too convoluted while you were teaching Amy. But you weren’t teaching her anymore. The two of you were essentially free now, free to be together to the fullest extent.
“We don’t hav-”
“I want to.” You looked at Rhett, his eyes flicking over to you before focusing back on the road. You adjusted your glasses, “I’m not nervous about doing it or anything.”
“I mean you did promise to show me your wild side one day.” Rhett snickered, remembering the first night the two of you went out.
“I think your surprise at the library counted as that.” You shot him a playful glare as the two of you pulled into your driveway. “It’s just..” Your words trailed off, biting at your lower lip.
“Jus’ what?” There was a short silence. The look on your face was softer now, not as playful. But Rhett could tell you were struggling with something, there was clearly something on your mind. He reached out, rough fingertips gently guided your face to look at his. Rhett knew it had to be now that he told you the thing he had wanted to tell you for weeks.
“I love you.” The two of you said it at the same, confessing your love for one another. You let out a giggle as Rhett flashed you a big smile. He leaned in towards you, grabbing your chin between his thumb and forefinger. His lips moved heatedly on yours, consuming everything you had to offer. His hand shifted to the curve of your jaw, fingers splaying out near your ear. The kiss continued for a moment longer before you both pulled back for air.
“Inside, now.” You demanded.
Rhett killed the engine while you got out. His hand snaked around your waist when you got to the door. While you pulled your keys out, Rhett’s hand sneaked into the back pocket of your jeans. A brief squeeze on your ass had you shooting him a look. He smiled, leaning in to press a kiss onto your neck. “Who locks their door out here?”
“It’s an old habit from the big city.” You explained while you slid the key inside the lock. “Plus, I don’t want any unwanted critters inside.” The two of you stumbled in the doorway, Rhett still close by your side.
“Is that what I am? Unwanted critter?” Rhett joked, hands pulling you flush against him after closing the door. You giggled as he started nipping at your neck.
“Don’t think I’d tell an unwanted critter I love him.” Rhett chuckled at your response. The two of you headed through the hallway, hands and lips traveling all over each other. Rhett’s flannel and hat had been lost in the living room, yours in the hallway.
Once to your bedroom, Rhett started to take a bit more control. His hands gripped your hips and pulled them tight to his. You could feel his cock getting hard in his jeans, his belt buckle digging into your hip. One hand moved to your face, cupping your cheek while kissing you roughly. He kept walking you back until the bed hit the back of your knees. The kiss broke as you went to lay down on the bed, Rhett following you immediately.
"You look so beautiful." Rhett said as he admired your beauty. He finally had you laid out underneath him, a dream come true. His hands ghosted over your sides, grabbing at your hips and pulling them tightly to his. Your arms snaked around his shoulders, fingers combing up through the hairs on the nape of his neck. Rhett’s mouth worked on your neck, groaning as he left a wet trail along your skin.
A small giggle came out of you as he nosed along up your neck. He kissed up your jaw before pulling up to look at you, “What’s got you gigglin’”?
“Oh nothing, Mr. Abbott.” Rhett rutted his hips into you harshly at the name.
“You better watch yourself with saying that.”
“What? Don’t like it, Mr. Abbott.” You teased. Rhett groaned, fingers grabbing your chin tightly.
“You know what that does to me.” You pulled him down and connected your lips with his. The both of you smiled into the kiss as your hips rocked together. His hands moved to the hem of your t-shirt, pushing up the shirt to get access to your skin. Fingers ghosted and trailed up the skin of your midsection. He pushed the shirt up over your chest, exposing the light pink lace of your bralette. Your back arched when he grabbed your breasts, kneading over the lace.
“Like what you see?” You only half joked.
“You have no idea.” Rhett tugged at your shirt more, signaling it was time to remove the article. After your shirt was gone Rhett kissed the valley between your breasts. His hands kneading at your flesh while kissing your chest. His fingers slipped underneath the band of your bralette, guiding it up over your head.
It was the first time he had seen your bare breasts. Yeah, you had sent pics of you in lingerie to him, but never anything completely bare. He pressed a few more kisses all over your chest before taking a nipple into his mouth. Your back arched slightly, his mouth consuming more of your breast. His thumb and forefinger started pinching and rolling your other nipple. Your fingers threaded through his hair, tugging lightly.
“Rhett.” His name was barely a whisper on your lips. You could feel him groan around your nipple when your hand trailed down between the two of you. You palmed the front of his jeans, his cock pressing hard against your hand. Rhett sat up, pulling his own shirt off and undoing his belt buckle and jeans. After he shucked them off he moved to undo your jeans.
“A matching set?” Rhett questioned when he saw the light pink lace panties. You had planned it out all week, knowing that you would finally have a moment like this. A moment of being completely vulnerable to Rhett. His fingers ghosted up over your legs as he settled between your legs. You felt completely bare under his warm oasis of a gaze. A bit of nervousness flowed through you, nodding softly as a response to his question.
“Cat got your tongue, mouse?” You shot him a little look. The little name took you by surprise, a small call back to your first night at the bar. Fingertips trailed over the pink lace covering your core. Rhett started rubbing his fingers on your clothed cunt, feeling the small wet patch that had started to form. His gaze locked with yours as you let moans and gasps fall from your lips. His hands moved to the edges of the lace, pulling them down slowly over your legs.
After tossing the panties somewhere behind him, he grabbed one of your ankles and lifted it up to his lips. He pressed a soft kiss to the inside of your ankle. Soft lips continued down the inside of your leg, Rhett slowly settling against the bed. His hot breath fanned over your cunt, your insides clenching at the sensation. Rhett wrapped his arms around your thighs, keeping you locked in place before he even started.
Rhett’s tongue flattened on your clit, licking slowly. Both of your hands snaked down, one landing on the comforter while the other took its place in Rhett’s hair. Your back arched, pleasure flowing through you with each lick of his tongue. One of his arms left your thigh, reaching out to your hand on the comforter. He laced his fingers with yours as he continued his feast between your thighs.
Gasps and moans mixed in with calls of Rhett’s name, urging him to continue. Small vibrations could be felt from Rhett’s groans, pushing you closer to your climax. The tightening sensation in your abdomen was becoming more noticeable. Rhett flicked his tongue on your clit then dragged it slowly back and forth.
“Holy fuck…” You could almost feel the smirk on his lips. Rhett flicked his tongue more intensely on your clit, finally pushing you over the edge.
This was a similar sensation that Rhett got from riding bulls, pure ecstasy. All Rhett could think was how beautiful you looked, coming all over his mouth. The way your back arched off the bed, hand tightening against his own. Seeing you give yourself up to him, letting him push you over the edge in such an intimate way had him grinding against the bed. Rhett couldn’t help but think about how good you would feel wrapped around his cock. Being connected at your core.
When he pulled back you finally got a break, your chest falling heavily. A small trail of wet kisses was created as Rhett moved back up your body. He nuzzled your neck and jaw, pressing more kisses before capturing your lips with his. You could taste yourself on his tongue, moaning into his mouth.
“You taste so fucking good, mouse.” You rolled your eyes.
“My turn to taste you.” You pressed your hand on his chest, acting as if you were going to roll the two of you over.
“Nah,” Rhett grabbed your hand and laced his fingers between yours, “I can’t wait to be in you any longer. Been waitin' too many weeks for this.” You rolled your hips up, feeling Rhett’s clothed cock press against your cunt. A groan rumbled in Rhett's throat while he captured your lips with his. One of his hands snaked down between the two of you, pushing his boxers down.
A moan passed your lips when you felt his cock rest against your pussy. Rhett haphazardly pushed his boxers all the way off. You brought your hand down to wrap around his cock. He groaned at the few strokes you gave him before you guided the tip to your entrance. Rhett propped himself up, looking down at you as his hips pushed forward.
Rhett watched as your jaw went slack. The stretch of his cock was intoxicating, filling you up the more his hips pushed forward. Your eyes never left Rhett's, warm oases welcoming you. A small whimper left Rhett once he bottomed out. Your warmth encapsulated him, letting him know this was where he was meant to be. Rhett eventually broke the stare, nuzzling down into your clavicle. Small kisses were peppered all over your skin.
Rhett dragged his hips back a little, slowly pushing forward the small amount. The sensation already had your body shivering with pleasure. Rhett started slowly rolling his hips, wanting to savor the moment as much as possible. He knew that the chances of this activity happening again were high, but he just needed for this moment to last. You wrapped one arm around Rhett's left shoulder, threading your fingers into his hair once more. Your other hand rested on the front of his chest.
"God, you're perfect." Rhett groaned, placing kisses along your neck and jawline. He knew sex would be special with you, but life-changing wasn't what he was expecting. The way your body reacted to every small touch had Rhett teetering on the edge of climax already.
"Rhett, I-" You couldn't finish the sentence, to caught up in the waves of pleasure flowing through you.
"What do you need, sweetheart?" Rhett pulled back to look down at you, cupping the side of your face. "Tell me."
"Harder."
Rhett pulled back, leaving just the tip inside of you. He kept his eyes on your face as he slammed back in hard. Your whole body reacted, back arching while your hands scrambled for purchase. Your mouth was agape as sinful sounds poured from it. Rhett kept this steady pace of hard thrusts, giving you exactly what you wanted.
"Oh fuck, Rhett!" The head of his cock pounded into the sensitive spot inside of you. Every time he hit it, a new jolt of pleasure ran through you. The coil in your lower abdomen was tight, about ready to snap and send you over the edge. You could tell Rhett was getting close too, harder breaths coming from him. Rhett didn't say a word, his hand moving between the two of you to rub your clit. That's when it was game over.
The combination of his fingers on your clit and powerful thrusts sent you tumbling over the edge. Pleasure washed over your nerves, Rhett’s finger still working your clit. Rhett groaned at the feeling of you clenching around him. His thrusts started to stutter, focusing on the feeling of your walls working his cock. Crescent shapes formed in Rhett’s skin, your nails digging harshly as he kept your orgasm going.
“Fuck, sweetheart. The way you feel,” Rhett pressed his forehead to yours, “I ain’t gon’ last.” You nodded as you stared into his eyes. It was Rhett’s turn for his mouth to be agape, groans and heavy breaths coming from him. Your fingers threaded into Rhett’s hair once more, pulling him down to the nuzzle against your clavicle. Rhett felt safe with you, rutting into your warmth that he had craved for weeks. It was a sense of security, something he had never truly felt in his life.
“Fuck, I love you.” Rhett whispered against your skin.
“I love you too, Rhett.” With those four words and his name he was gone. His hips steadied as he thrusted into you one last time. Small kisses littered your collarbones as he kept his hips tight to yours, spilling his cum inside of you.
The two of you laid there for sometime, Rhett still slotted between your thighs as your fingers traced small circles on his shoulder blades. He traced a small pattern along your side, basking in the subsiding afterglow. That sense of security was blanketed over him. He never wanted it to end, wanting to feel this safe forever. A part of him wondered how he had never felt it before but he knew why. He hadn’t had you before. Not just in a sexual way, but he had never fully experienced this kind of love. The love that let him know he was always welcome. Always loved.
“Hmm?” You questioned, sensing a tiny shift in his demeanor. It wasn’t a bad shift, something much softer than what you thought Rhett might be capable of.
“Nothin’, I just..” Rhett propped himself up on his elbows, looking down at you. Your beauty was something Rhett could still marvel at. Like watching the early morning sun rise. “You make me feel something.” Small butterflies could be felt in your stomach.
“Feel what?” Rhett smiled, pushing some hair back from your face.
“Welcome.” A kiss. “Safe.” Another kiss. “Happy.” Another kiss. “Loved.” A final kiss. A warmth had raised into your cheeks. The smile on his face was one that was pure. The two of you stared at each other for a few more moments, just taking one another in. Rhett shifted, pulling himself out of you. Even though he was softened it still felt like you were losing something. Rhett moved to the spot on the bed next to you. You rolled on your side to look at him, letting out a soft noise as his cum started leaking out of you.
“We should clean up and talk.” The look he gave you was one full of sincerity.
“Talk about what?” You questioned. You used a playful tone to mask the tiny amount of anxiety you suddenly had. Rhett must have noticed because he cupped your cheek when he sat up.
“Don’t worry,” he pressed a kiss to your nose, “it’s nothin’ bad, mouse.”
The two of you made your way to the bathroom. Rhett used a warm washcloth to clean himself up, you sitting on the toilet watching him. It was domestic, something you could get used to. Might even let him clean you up the next time. Rhett kissed your forehead before heading back to the bedroom, letting you finish using the toilet and cleaning up.
Rhett had climbed under the comforter when you got back, his boxers being the only thing he wore. He was checking his phone briefly before looking at you, placing his phone on the side table. You moved to your dresser, grabbing a large t-shirt from the drawer. You didn’t bother with any underwear, climbing into bed and curling up next to Rhett. He wrapped his arm around your shoulders, keeping you close.
“So-”
“I th-” The both of you stopped and giggled. Rhett motioned for you to go first.
“I was just gonna ask what you wanted to talk about.” Rhett nodded, thumb rubbing softly on your skin.
“I want to talk about us.” Rhett was never great with conveying his emotions through words.
“What about us?” You teased. Rhett rolled his eyes.
“About how I want to,” Rhet paused for a moment, “want to be with you.”
“Rhett, you ju-”
“No,” Rhett bite his lower lip, “I want you more than physically. I want to be with you all the time.” You knew what he was asking of you. It was funny to watch him still beat around the bush after everything.
“Rhett, I’m not quite sure what you’re asking me.” You said with a smirk. He rolled his eyes once more, letting out a sigh.
“You really gon’ make m-” Rhett was cut off by you pressing a kiss to his lips.
“Rhett, I want to be with you too.” Rhett smiled as he kissed you again. His arms wrapped around you completely, rolling the two of you over. He peppered you with kisses, happiness spreading over the both of you. Rhett couldn’t be happier with you, happier with his little bookmouse.

what great men say
james potter x reader
—author’s note: I was extremely soft about James and just how goofy he is around his friends and I just had to write it down. So what does being friends with James and eventually falling for him include? Enjoy!
—warning(s): mentions of food, she/her pronouns!reader
—wordcount: 3,196
You sighed looking at the time. He would be here any minute— he never came late. Tapping your foot, you turned your attention to the book open in front of you. Transfiguration. The subject that you struggled with the most. James excelled at it.
The turtle he transformed the teacup into that day was stunning. Popping its head inside the green-gold shell as everyone looked on. James smiled teasingly wide when McGonagall had commended him. No one noticed when he shifted aside to talk to the turtle in a baby voice. It made you smile. You blinked. Words swirled on the page you’d opened. Shaking your head, you turned to concentrate on them.
“There you are!” James shouted as the librarian shot him a glare. He was huffing— apparently from running to the library. He made an apologetic face and slowly came and plopped down beside you.
“Do you always have to be loud?” you said as he playfully rolled his eyes.
“Well, a great man once said loudness is the way of life,” he huffed, breathing deeply as you raised an eyebrow.
“And is this great man you?”
“Are you saying anything to the contrary?”
You let a small smile play on your lips which etched his grin further.
“I wouldn’t dare,” you said as he adjusted his collar, looking smug.
“I mean, even great men tell the turtle they made from a teacup that it is a good boy,” you said nonchalantly, opening a notebook. James flustered.
“I didn’t tell Jake he was a good boy,” he murmured.
“Jake, huh?”
“Shut it.”
The two of you spend the next hour working on the transfiguration assignment. James was patient as he helped you through spells and theory. You laughed, studied and talked. It was just like that between you two. You were good friends, you teased each other, pulled a few pranks and had fun. There was something about him that made you open up more than anyone else. And you loved him. It was stupid really.
James was utterly and completely in love with Lily Evans. Everyone knew that. You tried and you tried to push it back but you couldn’t help it. It crept up upon you- he had always been so kind to you, so adorably cute that you just fell for him. As torturous as it was, you didn’t dare to even hint him about it. Listening to him gush about the perfect head-girl, you never let your smile fade even if it never reached your eyes.
James poked your side as you packed your books.
“Hmm?”
“Lily and I talked a lot last night,” he said excitedly as your chest contracted. You zipped up your bag, hanging it by your side.
“Oh yeah?” you asked, plastering on a smile. The two of you started moving out of the library.
“It was amazing,” He said, punctuating each word, a dreamy look on his face. “She told me about her muggle life- records, music tapes- that sort of stuff. She was surprised when I talked to her about Queen and Beatles, impressed even.”
He scratched the back of his head, narrowly avoiding a first year who ran past the two of you.
“Couldn’t tell her you introduced it to us and it’s what Sirius blasts in the room all day long.”
You giggled.
“Did he listen to all of them already?” you asked, desperate to change topics. The two of you turned around the corner. James scoffed.
“Pretty sure he heard each of them at least a hundred times.”
“It’s good music James,” you sighed. “Ask him whether he’s free next Hogsmeade weekend, I’ll show him a place he’s going to adore.”
“Ah, I have some head-boy duties with Lily, Remus is helping Slughorn for extra credit and Peter is practicing astronomy,” James said as you furrowed your eyebrows.
“So Sirius is free?”
“Yes, but we aren’t,” James shrugged as you laughed.
“Okay,” you dragged on, not sure where the conversation was going. “Ask him if he’d like to go with me?”
James turned to you, confused.
“You’ll go with Sirius, alone?” he asked as you hummed in response, shrugging. He scowled.
You turned back at James standing at the door to the common room.
“Tomorrow, same time?” you asked with a smile. He nodded giving you a half-hearted grin and moving towards his room. Did you say something wrong? Shaking your head, you retreated to your dorm.
-♡♡♡-
A loud knock shook you. You looked towards the window and… James?
“James what the hell are you doing there?” you asked, jolting towards the sill and unlocking it. The idiot was standing a broom nearly forty feet above ground.
“I was wondering whether you’d join us all for a trip to the kitchens?” he breathed, a small smile playing on his lips. You heard snorts making you look down at the ground. Sirius, Remus and Peter were rolling out in laughter, but you couldn’t think much about that.
“Are you insane? Bloody sit down on your broom or come in,” you said eyes wide.
“Fine, I’m coming.” James grinned, jumping inside. He grabbed your arms almost falling over you. A strong perfume attacked your senses. His face was so close to yours, you could count the faint freckles on his face. Messy strands of hair fell over his forehead making you want to run your hands over them. You blinked, steading yourself before taking a step back. James coughed.
“Um, I was sneaking out for some hot chocolate,” he said placing his hands in his jeans’ pocket, thumbs out. “I remember you complaining we never took you.”
“Oh,” you said, feeling awkward all of a sudden. “Let me just get my jacket, it’s kinda cold.”
Grabbing the nearest jacket, you put it on as James stared around your room. You had decorated it beautifully. Post cards, quotes and some letters were put up on a wall on the far end. His eyes fell on you as you turned to him smiling, ready to leave. He gulped.
“How are we leaving?” you asked and James gestured to his broom floating outside your window.
After much bickering, you found yourself sitting behind James, holding onto him for your dear life. That wasn’t to say you didn’t enjoy it. It felt good being so close to him, having your hands around his waist. You almost felt sad when you reached down. Sirius smirked at you as you climbed off the broom. He knew more than he probably should.
“What took you so long?” Peter complained. You saw Sirius open his mouth to say something but closed it on seeing your glare. He wrapped an arm around your shoulder.
“Well now that she’s here, shall we?” he said leading you ahead of the group.
James frowned at the two of you. Sirius whispered something in your ear making you roll your eyes playfully.
“What’s made you so off now?” Peter asked. Remus patted his shoulder.
“Jealousy is always a bad colour on people my dear wormtail,” Remus said dramatically. James raised it eyebrows.
“I’m not jealous,” James said pointedly and then shrugged. “What would I be jealous of?”
Remus rolled his eyes.
“Sureeee.”
You took in the warm room while the boys asked for hot chocolates for all of you. Sweet smell of banana bread and muffins eloped the kitchen. Remus called for you, handing you a steaming mug of cocoa. You sat down beside James tuning in to their conversation. He gave you a small smile as Remus and Peter quarrelled about their divination predictions. You laughed and you talked, feeling the week’s tension slowly slip off your shoulders. When it was time to leave, you felt oddly content. Making them promise to make this a monthly thing, you finally turned to leave. James held you back.
“I was wondering, if you’d like to have a bit more fun?” James asked, biting his lip. “Just us two.”
You looked at him curiously and licked your lip.
“And what will this fun, entail?”
“There’s this small place near the edge of forbidden forest,” he said and you raised an eyebrow. “I swear it’s not that dangerous. It’s honestly beautiful.”
James didn’t know why he was so bent over to spend some more time with you. All he knew was that he didn’t want the evening to end. He didn’t want to leave you just yet. So when you nodded slowly, he couldn’t stop the grin that spread on his face.
The two of you tip-toed through the castle, James’s invisibility cloak with him just in case. Checking the map, he turned towards you. Taking your hand in his; he whispered, “Run.”
Your eyes widened. James sprinted forward, taking you with him. There was no time to think. Trying to keep up with him— you made your way through the grounds, the air icy against your face. You were huffing by the time you reached the lip of the forest.
“What exactly were we running from?” you asked, taking in gulps of air.
“No one— we were taking too much time,” he said shrugging. “And adrenaline always feels good.”
He didn’t notice you glaring at him. You slapped his arm playfully.
“Hey—” he groaned, rubbing at the spot.
“Now that you’ve wounded me, shall we?”
You nodded, biting the inside of your cheek. Placing his palms on your shoulder James turned you, leading you towards a small clearing. Your arms erupted in goosebumps, feeling him right behind you. His breath tickled your neck. Did he really not know the effect he had on you? Reaching there, James gestured around dramatically. Fireflies buzzed around the area and the ground bloomed with wild flowers.
“Wow,” you gasped. James watched you, his face lighting up. Running your hands through the shrubs you looked up. Night sky was always clear at Hogwarts. But somehow it seemed even more beautiful then. You glanced towards James catching him staring.
“See something you like?”
“You look beautiful,” James uttered before he could stop himself. Your cheeks heated up.
You did. You looked gorgeous every single day. James swallowed, a distinct blush covering his cheeks. He felt your gaze on him, waiting for him to say something. He heard you sigh after a little while.
“You know, when I was small, I used to collect fireflies in a jar,” you said, sitting down slowly. James joined you. “Pretty little things they were. I would stare at them for hours. Mum hated them. Dad didn’t seem to mind. They would zoom around in the jar and I would take it in hand running through the house saying they were my army. Danger shall befall those who cross me— I used to say”
James let out a laugh, sighing as you both watched the stars. Sneaking a glance at him, you caught him doing the same. Light from flies lighted up his face, his brown eyes sparkling. You didn’t know who leaned in. His lips were soft against yours as you let your hands tangle in his hair. His arms went to your waist, tugging you towards him. The kiss seemed to light you up. Pulling back breathless you stared at him, seeing something that made your stomach. Guilt. You dug your nails into your palm, waiting for the excuses to come. And it came. He called out your name.
“Don’t.” You snapped.
Scrambling to your feet, you started moving back towards the castle. James followed you.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t think. I don’t know what happened and I—”
You twisted towards him.
“I’m not angry at you James,” you said, your voice barely above a whisper. James frowned. “I— I just like you, okay? I’ve liked you for quite some time.”
James’ eyes widened a little. You let out a laugh, looking away.
“I’m not angry at you. I’m angry at myself. Do you realise how pathetic it is, to love someone knowing they’ll never love you back? Every day I’ll tell myself; it doesn’t matter. That it’s a crush and it’ll go away. And every day I fall a little more in love with you knowing you’ll never feel the same.”
Silence fell around you and you wrapped your arms around yourself. You felt cold. James watched you, desperate to reach out. He wanted to stop you but he didn’t know how. All he could do was listen.
“I think, I think it’ll be better for me to stay away from you for a while,” you breathed, trying your best not to let the tears in your eyes fall.
You walked back to the castle leaving James alone. A tear fell down his face and he furiously wiped it off.
-♡♡♡-
The next few days seemed never-ending. Classes, homework and head-boy duties kept James busy. He practiced harder and longer on the field. But his mind wasn’t in it. It was full with the thoughts of you. He tried. He really tried to reach out to you somehow. To catch your eye during classes, give you a small smile, but you hardly even glanced at him. It hurt. More than he could ever care to admit. He had quite forgotten what it was like not to spend time together every single day. To not listen to you complain about your day, hear your laugh. He felt alone.
Bacon and eggs were laid out in front of him, but he couldn’t bring himself to eat. He toyed it around with his fork.
“Ahhh James! Just the person I was looking for,” Lily said with a bright smile as James looked towards her. “I was thinking maybe you could join me after lunch? We can review the prefect rounds’ details.”
James furrowed his eyebrows.
“Didn’t we do that last week?”
Lily’s expression fell, but she covered it up quickly.
“Yes we did, but I thought maybe we could go over them again?” she said expectantly.
“Uh- sure.” He said, moving his attention back to his plate. He pushed it away.
Sirius, Peter and Remus raised their eyebrows at him. James looked at them questioningly.
“Are you dead?” Remus asked.
“No?”
“Yeah I think he’s dead.” Sirius pipped in. James opened his mouth to retort but Sirius bet him to it.
“Look, I know finding out your friend is in love with you while you think you’re in love with someone else isn’t easy—”
“Especially when you’re actually in love with the said friend," Peter said, taking a bite of his toast. James opened his mouth.
“Especially then —but you gotta make up your mind. Go date Lily and find out how worthless it is and then go back to friend or go now and talk to her and tell her what you really feel about her.”
James blinked.
“I’m not in love with her,” he said slowly as they collectively groaned. He ignored them. “And how did you know that she told me she likes me?”
“It was obvious?” Sirius said as Remus rolled his eyes.
“You know what? Let him continue his idiocy for more. I want to see how long this can actually go on,” Remus said as others hummed in response, shrugging.
“What? You’re not even going to listen to me now?” James stated as his friends paid no attention.
“Not when you’re being a dumbass, no.”
James banged his head on the table. Remus continued to read his book while Sirius and Peter concentrated on their breakfast.
“What if, what if I said,” James began slowly. “That maybe I do love her. I do love her and I was the biggest fool in the world and screwed this up beyond repair?”
Remus stared at James, a small smile overcoming his features.
“You tell her exactly that.”
-♡♡♡-
You sighed turning the page. The story was captivating at first, but now— not so much. There was a knock at the window and you turned to see… James? Your heart thumped against your chest. He stood there, probably on his broomstick waiting for you to let him in. Pushing the covers aside, you got up and opened the small lock as James hopped in. Your chest clenched seeing him for the first time in weeks. You had missed him. His hair was disheveled and he fidgeted awkwardly, staring at you.
“James why are you here?” you asked softly. You wanted nothing more than to hug him. But you held back. You couldn’t do that to yourself, not anymore.
“I— um— I wanted to tell you something,” he said as you gestured at him to go on. There was silence.
“Well?”
James flushed, looking down.
“I— I had this whole speech prepared and now I forgot what I was supposed to say,” he said and you looked at him curiously. “I know it starts with me saying I might be the biggest dumbass at Hogwarts.”
“That I can agree on,” you pointed out, a small grin evident on your face. James cracked a smile hearing you tease him after weeks. Somehow, he never minded it when it was you. There was silence again, but this time it felt calmer.
“You see? I had a fascination with this red-headed girl,” he whispered. Your throat bobbed. He was here to talk about Lily? “This fiery girl who rejected me every time I asked her out. And my fascination just grew. So much that I couldn’t even notice myself falling for someone else. Someone who’d been an amazing friend.”
Your eyes snapped towards him and he gave you a light smile.
“I don’t love Lily. I don’t. And I hate myself for not realizing it. But even more than that I hate myself for turning you away. I’m sorry,” he said as you sniffed, letting his words soak in. He loved you, not Lily. You knew you must be looking like an idiot then, giddiness blooming through your body.
“Are you sure this isn’t the speech you prepared?” you said as James chuckled. He shook his head.
“My prepared speech was written by a great man and it did not end with an apology.”
“Oh? What did that great man end the speech with?” you said, joy evident on James’ face. He was enjoying this.
“Asking you out,” he said cheekily and you let out a snort.
“Well, that’s a let down,” you said, putting on a disappointed expression, noticing James furrowing his brows. “I was hoping the speech would end in some kisses; after all, don—"
You couldn’t finish the sentence as James pulled you closer by your waist and pressed his lips against yours. You sighed, tugging him closer by his neck. Pulling back, you rested your forehead against his taking deep breaths.
“I fucking love you,” James said, cradling your face and starting to press kisses all over. You giggled.
“I love you too. Tell that great man I’d like to go out with him this Hogsmeade weekend, will you?” you said as James let out a laugh.

No Worries-Technoblade
#256 and 257 from this prompt list. Check out my masterlist here!
This is a Techno x gn!reader in the dreamsmp! I hope you enjoy!
Y/N’s been missing for almost a week and the one person that should be worried about them most isn’t worried at all, which upsets some people.
Third Person POV
Everyone was freaking out. Y/N had been missing for a few days and no one knew where they were, not even their boyfriend Techno. Niki had been the first one to notice. Usually Y/N shows up Saturday mornings to help prep the bakery as Saturday was usually her busiest day. But when they didn’t show, Niki went to their house to try and find them. No one was home. There was no note, no warning, no anything. They had just disappeared. Niki told a few people and all weren’t too worried at first. The excuse that maybe they had gone on a short adventure and forgot to tell anyone. Techno wasn’t too worried and that seemed to calm people’s nerves.
So everyone went on with their day. Day turned into night and then night back into day and they still were nowhere to be found. Once again, a little bit of panic seemed to rise through the people of the server. Their worries were once more brought to Techno who once again waved them off. Y/N was a big kid and they could take care of themselves if push really came to shove. Tensions settled once more.
This continued for three more days. Everyone worrying and Techno down playing their worries. His seemingly disintrence in the subject sparked rumors to fly throughout L’Manberg. Maybe Techno never really cared about Y/N. Maybe he hired some hitman to take them away in the middle of the night. Maybe Techno disposed of them himself. They were ridiculous, but when something doesn’t make sense, people tend to jump to conclusions.
Almost a week had passed since anyone had seen or heard from Y/N. Y/N was well loved on the server and it hurt everyone that they had gone so long without seeing their friend. A small group of people worked up the nerve to go to Techno’s house and demand answers.
“Techno!” Tubbo shouted as he pounded on the pink haired man’s front door, “Open up! We need to talk to you!” Confused at the sudden appearance of the young President, Techno swung open his front door to find a small angry mob on his front porch. The mob consisted of Niki, Tommy, Tubbo, Quackity, Fundy, Ranboo, and Ghostbur. All, but Ghostbur, had angry looks on their face while Ghostbur didn’t seem to know what was going on.
“Hello Techno!” Ghostbur greeted the Blood God with a big grin and wave. “Hello Ghostbur. And everyone else. To what do I owe the pleasure,” He questioned the mob with a raised eyebrow. “Where is Y/N?” Tommy demanded. Techno rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest, “I told you. I don’t know. They must be out adventuring. They’ll be back any day now. Now if you’ll excuse me,” Techno made an attempt to shut the door, but someone’s hand stopped it. Quackity stood there, fire in his eyes, hand pressing the door open. “They’ve been missing since Friday and you’re not worried?” He questioned harshly. Techno let out a small chuckle at the thought of being worried about Y/N. “They’re missing. Not dead. If they were dead, I would have seen it by now. We all would have seen it by now” Techno announced, motioning to his right arm. He was right. If Y/N had died, they all would have been notified.
“You’re really not worried about your partner?” Fundy prodded, stepping up so that he was next to Quackity. Techno chuckled once more, shaking his head at the question, “It is obvious you don’t know Y/N as much as you think you do.” Everyone made some sort of noise of protest. All of them would like to think that you’re one of their closest friends! Of course they know you well! Don’t they?
Tubbo opened his mouth to ask what Techno meant by that, but was cut off by someone behind him. “What are you guys talking about?” Everyone in the group whipped around at the sound of that familiar voice.
*POV Switch*
Y/N’s POV
A smile fell onto my face as I saw the warm glow of my boyfriend’s house in the distance. I had gone on what I thought would be a short journey to a not so nearby village to get a book I needed for my enchantments. On my way there, I ran into a pillager captain. Not thinking anything of it, I killed it and went on my way. Only I forgot about a small thing that happens when you kill a captain. You get a bad omen.
So there I was, waltzing into the village in search of a librarian to trade with, when boom! A raid starts. Well I couldn’t just trigger the raid and then leave, that would be so wrong. I helped the Iron Golem defend the village. It took a few days because it was 2 v all of them. Nevertheless, we won. I got quite a bit of loot from the dead bodies of the pillagers, including two totems of undying. After all was said and done, I began to do what I went there for. The Villagers were kind enough to give me a discount on all of my tradings for protecting them, even though I was the one that made it so they needed protecting. I stayed for a few extra days to make sure that everyone was okay and healthy. Once I was sure, I set off back toward home with my riches.
As I grew closer, I was greeted with the sight of many of my friends standing on Techno’s front porch. It caused me to grin. I really did miss my friends while I was gone. My slow pace turned into a jog as I grew nearer and nearer. As I got closer I began to hear part of their conversation. “-Would have seen it by now…” “You’re really not worried about your partner?” I heard Fundy question. I came to a stop behind the group with a furrowed brow. “It is obvious you don’t know Y/N as much as you think you do.” Techno responded. “What are you guys talking about?” I questioned, extremely confused as to what I had just stumbled upon.
In sync, all heads whipped toward me. “Y/N!” They all cried. I brought my hand up and gave them a small wave, “Hell-OH!” I let out as the weight of seven bodies hit me. Everyone began speaking at once causing all meaning to be lost in the noise. I was able to catch a few words such as ‘missing’ and ‘worried’ but other than that, I was lost.
“GUYS!” I finally shouted, breaking free from their clutches, “One at a time! What’s going on?” I questioned the group. The seven exchanged glances before Niki stepped close to me, “You were missing and nobody knew where you went and so we were worried.” Niki murmured, looking down to the ground. My heart melted at the words, “Oh Niki,” I murmured back, reaching forward and wrapping the girl in a tight hug. “I’m okay! I just had to go to the village.” I let go of the girl and gave the rest of the group hugs as well before making my way to my boyfriend. I greeted him with a big grin, which he returned, before placing a sweet kiss to his lips. After we broke apart, I turned back to the group as Techno wrapped his arm around my waist.
“So you said you had to go to the village. Why did it take you so long to come home?” Tubbo asked shyly. I let out a laugh as I thought about what had happened. “Oh well, it was supposed to be a short journey. And then I accidentally triggered a raid, so I had to fight that,” I stated casually, shrugging my shoulders. The group stared at me in shock. “You fought a raid? All by yourself?” Ranboo questioned a little star struck. “What? Like it’s hard?” The group was silent, just staring at me. “Did you guys not know that Techno personally trained me? Like All my PVP I’ve learned from him. I’ve got to say I’ve gotten pretty good!” I boasted proudly. Techno chuckled beside me, squeezing my hip and kissing the side of my head. “You sure have.”
“So that’s why you weren’t worried about them! You knew they could take care of themselves.” Techno rolled his eyes at Tommy’s statement. “Of course I knew they could. I was a little worried, but I knew they could handle themselves.” Techno’s confidence in me made me feel warm inside. “Well we’ll let you get settled and rest. I’m sure you’re tired from your traveling.” Niki said, reaching forward and tugging on everyone’s shirts getting them to slowly shuffle away. “Come by tomorrow, yeah? We all missed you a lot.” Niki requested with a smile. I returned the girl’s smile and nodded, “Yeah. I’ll definitely be by tomorrow to see everyone.” Niki gave me one final smile before ushering everyone away from Techno’s house.
Once everyone left our eyesight, Techno ushered me back inside his house. “Are you alright? Have any injuries you need me to look at?” He rushed, sitting me down on the living room couch. I laughed at his concern but shook my head. “Nah, I’m good. I did take a few hits, but the villagers took good care of me,” I answered, grinning at him. Techno returned my grin before sitting next to me, reaching down and holding my hand. “I really missed you love,” Techno hummed, pressing his lips against my forehead. I let out a sigh of content, my muscles relaxing at his touch. “I missed you too lover.”
The two of us sat there for a while, just enjoying each other’s company. Being away from my boyfriend from so long had taken a harder toll on me than the literal battle I fought just a few days prior. I really had missed my boyfriend. I let out a sigh as my eyes closed in exhaustion, “You ready to go to bed love?” Techno questioned softly. I tiredly nodded at his words, opening my eyes slightly to look at him, “Carry?” I pondered gently. Techno chuckled but nodded. He stood up and delicately picked me up, wrapping his arms around the middle of my back and pressing me tightly to him. Techno carefully walked down the hall and laid me down in his bed, quickly crawling into bed next to me.
Techno was quick to wrap himself around me and cuddle me tightly, causing me to sigh in content once more. “Thank you for believing in me” I whispered to my boyfriend. Techno smiled and kissed the bridge of my nose, “Of course love. You’re my little badass. I’ll always believe in you.” He murmured. I couldn’t help but giggle at his words. “I’m a badass,” I responded sleepily. Techno chuckled and pressed a quick kiss to my lips. “Yes, you are love.” I sleepily smiled at his words, and buried myself into his chest, closing my eyes to fall asleep. I let out a yawn as the warmth of my boyfriend began to spread through my body. “I love you” I sleepily murmured out to my boyfriend. I felt Techno’s lips press against the top of my head before he also murmured, “I love you too”. And then I fell asleep, safe and content in my boyfriend’s arms, not a single worry in my head.
Oh god that ending sucked, but I hope you enjoyed it all the same! Be sure to leave a like if you did!!

an angels teeth ☆ (more audiobook for my favorite gay people)
an angel's teeth ☆ - d0gbitez - DOORS (Roblox) [Archive of Our Own]
It had this look in its eyes that made you wonder just how m a n y people its killed. (and this...) grin that made you realize its probably lost count.
Figure and Seek are introduced to each other.
-
Seek was face to face with the largest, fleshiest, toothiest monster it had ever seen in its entire life.
Its breath was hot and reeked of decaying flesh. Ivory claws tipped with bloodstains dug into the carmine carpet under them. A low, bone-chilling growl erupted from its throat, face twisted in a vicious snarl.
It didn’t dare make a sound. It had heard the roars from the library, echoing down the hotel’s barren halls, but never heard about the Librarian. Seek stayed confined to its hallway and never ventured past. Unfortunately, its curiosity and boredom got to it, and curiosity was going to get this cat killed.
The Librarian sniffed it warily, turning its head sideways. Seek could see a large scar where its eyes should’ve been, a pale red against the rotting flesh. Maybe it wouldn’t be noticed if it stayed still long enough.
The monster was alarmingly still. With shock, Seek realized it was listening. What was it listening to? Was it listening for something? It inhaled deeply, then huffed.
“You,” It rumbled. “are one of us.”
Much to Seek’s surprise, it settled itself on its hind legs as an animal would. It continued to study it, however, it visibly calmed. Seek let itself relax a bit, clearing its throat.
“Uh- uhm, hello… Librarian.”
“Figure,” It began slowly. “Name… is Figure.”
The void entity laced its fingers together, still anxious. “Figure. It’s… l-lovely to meet you. I'm-”
“-the hallway guardian.” It finished. Figure’s voice was deep and raspy, hoarse with excessive use. It spoke in a low tone that was almost comforting. It took deep breaths in the middle of talking as if speaking was laborious.
“H-how did you know?” Stop stuttering. Don't show it you're afraid.
The Librarian smiled, a smile so small it almost didn't notice. A smile full of teeth that could rip you open in the blink of an eye. Teeth stained with the innards of those unlucky enough to make it to Door 50.
“Smell. And I don’t… recognize your voice. Seek, is it? Hide speaks of you. It’s nice to… meet you.”
Don’t be afraid. It doesn’t want to hurt you. If it did, you would be a corpse already. You’re okay. “Hide talks about me?” Seek looked around the intricate library, spotting at least two closets at once. It hadn’t considered asking its sibling about The Librarian. Hide knew everything and knew every one . If Hide, the most anxious being it had ever met, could interact with Figure without trouble, there was no reason Seek should be so uneasy.
It nodded and turned around. “Occasionally. They don’t visit much at… all.” Figure padded over to a small pile of books and blankets piled in a darker, quieter corner of the library.
Each book is written in braille. Does it like to read? It doesn’t seem the reading type . But Hide wasn’t the type to talk to monsters much larger and scarier than them, after all, even less talk to anyone in general.
“You… are new here, no? Er… new er .” It picked up a novel with a dirty, faded green cover. The spine was in pieces and the title was expunged from the cover entirely. It ran a massive claw over the rims, eventually putting it back down.
“Mhm.” Seek was not aware of how it got here, nor did it have any memory of a life before the Hotel. The void creature didn’t care. There was no point in daydreaming about a life that none could return to if it existed in the first place.
The two sat in uncomfortable silence for what Seek deemed too long. Figure appeared to be deep in thought. It let its gaze wander whether it pleased, mapping out the latter’s dwelling. It was cozy, much more inviting than its long hallway, with chandeliers casting a soft golden light onto the towering bookshelves.
“Welcome, then.” It responded, at last, grinning. “It is nice to have… you here.”
Seek had to admit the beast had an unusual charm. As it calmed from the initial terror of their encounter, it began to like Figure more than the other inhabitants of the Hotel. “Thank you.”
The Librarian had frozen once more, head tilted towards the door. A low growl rumbled in its throat.
“What-?”
It pressed a claw to its chest (or tried to. It landed dangerously close to Seeks throat.), hushing the void being without words. Figure padded on massive paws to the clearing where they had first met. It moved with chilling precision, breathing in deeply.
Seek could hear it now. Tiny footsteps and the chatter of high-pitched voices that was growing closer.
Figure’s muscles tensed. Its growling was now a terrible snarl.
The door opened, and The Librarian pounced. Seek couldn’t even catch a glimpse of the intruder before it was a headless corpse on the wooden floor. The nasty crunch of bone and cut-off scream of the unlucky intruder reverberated in the massive library. The body fell with an almost comical splat . Figure threw the head into the air and caught it in its yellowed teeth, devouring it without hesitation.
Charming, Seek thought, amused, as blood spilled onto the carpet and dripped down the beast's chin. Well, if that isn’t flattering, I don’t know what is.
It left the twitching body to bleed out, looking back at the other monster with a pleased expression. “Do you eat?” It asked.
I-is it offering me the body? To eat ?
“Oh, n-no, I don’t,” Seek replied, crossing its arms. “I don’t eat. Buuuut, thank you for the… the offer.”
Figure shrugged. “Okay.”
It clapped its hands together, void dripping onto the floor. Well. That was an experience.
“You’ll… you’ll come again, w…won’t you?” It asked gently. The Librarian didn’t seem phased by the intruder and what became of them in the slightest. “You’ll visit?”
“Y-you want me to?”
Figure nodded, spines on their back rippling as they shifted in place, drawing shapes in the carpet with their claws. “It gets lonely.”
That was not hard to believe. Company was hard to come across, and most company screamed too much and begged for mercy or something annoying like that, and in the end, they were dead.
“I don’t see why not.”
It smiled. “Perfect.”

hello!! i've made a request before but this idea came in my brain and i heard your requests were open. So ive seen a lot of fics of the brothers saving mc, but what about mc kinda of saving the brothers, i mean like badass sword fighting style. Just like a stereotypical disney prince saves a princess mc kinda saves the brothers from getting killed by a lesser demon with a sword and just being badass (and sword) and the bros find it hot (weak humans? never heard of them)
*spongebob narrator voice* 400 years lat’er..... So sorry this took so long! I genuinely don’t know why I couldn’t get it done. When I actually tried, I got it done in like 2 days. My only excuse is that I’m a horrible trash munny >.<
Obey me Boys + Power Princess MC
Lucifer
It offends him that this creature, this being not fit to lick the soles of his boots, would raise their hand to him. The attack was not even what upset him, but just the gall. The utter stupidity of this decision to throw one’s life away. The fact that they had attacked with you around only made him wish to end that pathetic life that much sooner.
“Step back [Y/N]. I’ll deal with this quic—” Lucifer cut himself off when you rushed forward. A bright shining sword in your hand as you lunged. Slashing through the demon, who wailed and instantly turned to dust & ash. “What on Earth was that?”
“Oh. It’s my sword.” You reply nonchalantly. Turning around to show it to him. “It’s a holy arc sword, or something. I can summon it from my bracelet whenever I need it. Cool to know it actually works in a pinch.”
“And where did you get such a magical artifact?” Lucifer asked. Perplexed beyond reason, but trying not to show it.
“Lord Diavolo gave it to me when I first got here.” The demon arched a brow. Lord Diavolo? “It would be really irresponsible of him to just let a human wander around hell without some kind of weapon.”
He paused for a moment. Trying to piece all of what you had just said together. Then he just chuckled. “Yes, I suppose it would be.” And here he thought that he had been the only one protecting you. When all along you could do it yourself.
His hand reached out to pat your head fondly. His breast swelling with pride. “I’ll have to thank him for giving you such a thoughtful, practical gift. We’ll also have to add sword play to your lesson plans. I’d be more than happy to be your tutor.
Mammon
‘Shit!’ Mammon mentally cursed as he was hit again.
This wasn’t the first time he’d been rough up outside a club. Given his lifestyle, and his gambling track record, he’d been pummeled by a few bouncers in his life. With his immense power, he could easily take them; if he tried. But then he would be banned from the club, and ever other, and that was something he couldn’t handle over the humiliation of being beat up by these clowns. He needed this. It was all he had.
So, he took his beatings from lesser demons when they came around. He’d only wished they’d picked a different night to get their ‘payment’ back since you were supposed to be here soon.
“Come on guys. Don’t ya think you’ve had enough?”
“We’ll tell you when we’ve had enough!” One demon sneered at him, before kicking a man while he was down. Classy. “You owe us. And we’re gonna get back every cent you owe out of your hide!”
The demon reared his foot back to kick him again, and Mammon mentally sighed. Preparing himself for the kick and really being over this since it began. But….no kick came.
The demon let out a loud grunt over the sound of a metal ‘wack’ before the two, even lesser goons beside him suffer the same fate and they all slump to the ground. “Mammon! Are you ok?!”
The silver haired demon looked up at you in shock. The light from the street lamp causing a halo to form around you, highlighting your worried face as you brandished a rusty pipe like some great sword. “Yeah…I’m fine….”
“You don’t look fine! You’re all beat up!” He just sat there as you dropped the pipe and dropped down to him. Fretting over him as you looked him over. He couldn’t hear what you were saying over the beating sound of his heart in his ears.
No one had ever tried to help him before.
Mammon lifted his arms and wrapped them around you. “Mammon? What—“Let’s get out of here.” He interrupted as he hugged you. Standing up, and helping you to your feet, after a moment to walk out of the alley. “I don’t want to be here anymore. I wanna go somewhere with you.”
“But….I thought you wanted to go out tonight. Play cards. You said you were feeling lucky?”
He couldn’t tell if that was a jab or not, but replied, “well clearly I was wrong.” Though despite his bumps and bruises, he did still feel pretty lucky right not. “I just want to get out of here. I don’t need this anymore.” You both decide to head home to help Mammon nurse his wounds. He never went back to that club, or really any club, after that night.
Levi
“Levi….I don’t think this is such a good idea.”
“Nonsense!” Levi quipped in response to your perfectly reasonable, concerned feelings. “It’s just a little further. Besides, I want to see Henry 1! I’ve missed him a ton recently, and want to make sure he remembers me.” It had broken his heart to discover his poor, lost serpent had been down here, all alone, this whole time. So he made an effort to see him every now and then.
“Yeah but…isn’t this still like super-secret for Lord Diavolo’s family and stuff? What if there’s like booby traps and stuff?”
“Come on! There weren’t any booby traps or anything before. Why would he when he has Henry to keep it…..” Levi trailed off as both of you were ingulfed by a long, dark shadow. A low hissing sound growing louder as a gold, stripped serpent towered over you with a menacing glare. “That’s not Henry.”
The snake hissed loudly with bared fangs and an open mouth, and you both scream and run to get away from it.
The serpent of course chased you. Easily able to keep up, and only loosing you when the two of you duck into a narrow corridor. Levi turned around to say something to you, but you were gone. His immediate thought was that the stranger snake had gotten you, and it was all his fault, and he would never see you again!
When he came to the end of the corridor, walking out like a man on death row instead of running, he looked up to see the snake in front of him. Clearly angered by having to chase him. Levi didn’t care. He wanted to die if anything happened to you. He’d rather die than live one moment without you.
Prepared to accept his fate, the demon didn’t move when the snake unhinged his jaw to eat him in one gulp. Only for a sharp spike to thrust out from his mouth a moment later. A strange, hissing gasp escaping it before it slumped down in a lifeless heap on the floor. “[Y/N]!”
“Jesus! Not to put too fine a pin on it, but this place is literally a maze. One minute I’m next to you, and the next I’m in some armory on the other side of the hall 50 feet away. Are you alright Levi?”
The demon scrambled up the snake corpse to stand next to you and wrapped his arms tight around your being. “[Y/N]! I was so scared! I thought this Henry imposter got you, and you were dead, and I couldn’t think of anything!”
“I’m really ok Levi.” You assure him, as he wept into your shoulder. “Do you still want to see the real Henry? I think I spotted where he actually is when I was running back with the spear?” Levi nodded into your shoulder. Still not prepared to let you go.
Satan
Satan always tried to be a reasonable man.
He hated being referred to as ‘The Demon of Wrath’. It wasn’t his wrath that had caused him to be born. And he wasn’t any angrier than his brothers, so why did he have to be labeled the ‘bad seed’? So he always tried to be level headed. Calm. Patient. But there were somethings he just could not abide. Like the boorish behavior of someone talking loudly in the library.
“Excuse me,” the blonde said, attempting to remain calm, as he came over to the rude demon two tables over, “could you please keep it down? This is a library.”
“Yeah. I know what it is.” He quipped back rather snippily. “What are you? The librarian?”
“No. Just a fellow book lover.” Satan replied. Grinding his teeth now. “And one who can follow the rules and basic social decorum of keeping my conversations to myself in a place like this.”
“Are you calling me stupid?!”
“No. I’m calling you uncouth. A word meaning undignified, and without manners.”
“Why you!”
The demon rose to his feet, towering over Satan now that he was standing. Not that it mattered. Height was not an immediate representation of strength. Look at Belphie. His younger, shorter brother could level a whole city with a flick of his wrist. Satan could easily dispatch of his imbecile without even breaking a sweat.
He never got the chance though, as just after he stood the demon let out a grunt and slumped to the floor; with you standing behind him on his depleted chair with a book in your hand like you had just pulled it from The Stone. “Bet you’re glad I think Kindles are dumb now.”
Satan had to right himself on what he was seeing, and then frowned at you. “I never said that, and get down.” He insisted. Offering you his hand to get down. You hop down with ease and set your weapon book on the table. “Honestly, I could have handled him without resorting to violence or cheap theatrics.”
“Cheap?? This book was very expensive.” You insist, and Satan had to scoff.
“Be that as it may, please do not use books for more than their intended purpose. I appreciate the assist, but I can’t have you hurting yourself or fine literature in the future.”
“You’re such a buzz kill sometimes Satan…..”
Asmo
Asmo always loved going to the club. The dancing. The energy. The pulsing music. The people.
Well…usually the people. Some people, usually bro-dude demons, just couldn’t take a hint that ‘no’ meant ‘no’.
“Come on Asmo! Why are you being so stingy?!”
“I’m not being ‘stingy’,” Asmo replied with a frown marring his beautiful face. “I’m just not interested.”
“You were interested last time.” His pursuer replied. Like that somehow gave automatic permission that things would happen again.
“That was a long time ago.” The dusk haired blonde replied. Sipping his cocktail and looking thoughtful across the spacious VIP lounge over to you.
Yes, things had certainly changed. Once where it would take a whole room of people and attention to make him content, these days all he wanted was you. Just you sparing a moment to look at him made his heart feel incredibly full. He had come here to have a fun night out with you, but it seemed no matter where he went his beauty was always causing problems.
The lesser demon frowned, then looked towards the direction Asmo was looking to land on you. “Shoot, just bring them along with us.”
“Excuse me?” Asmo asked. Beautiful expression turning Ignatius as he sat down his drink.
“Bring them along. I’ve never had sex with a human. But there must be something to it if you’re willing to do them. Not that I suppose that takes much….”
At that, Asmo leapt from his chair and grabbing the brute by the collar. He wasn’t normally one for violence. He wasn’t like his dull brothers. But he couldn’t let a slight like that against you slide. “Take it back!”
The two demon’s scuffle. Clearing out the VIP lounge as everyone ran. Scared that they might transform at any moment and literally tear each other apart. Asmo somehow ended up on his back, a position that usually didn’t bother him, as the other reared back to punch him in the face.
Or, at least he would have if he didn’t start convulsing and fall on the ground a moment later.
“Asmo! Are you ok?!”
The Lust Demon looked at you for a moment. Then delicately covered his mouth with both hands. Returning to normal. “[Y/N]! You saved me!!”
“Yeah. This little thing packs a punch.” You replied. Holding out your little pink taser from She-Sword from your clutch. “I couldn’t let this jerk hurt your beautiful face.”
“No one is more beautiful than you my fierce warrior queen!” He praised. Basking in the moment for only a second before you both scamper off before security came.
You both might be beautiful, but you didn’t want to end up on the evening news.
Beel
“I want to take up kendo.” Beel announced to you one day. Out of the blue. “I’ve been looking for ways to add variety to my workout. I came across this video on kendo and thought it would be fun.”
Of course, Beel knew you had practiced kendo in the past at school. So he might have also been looking for fitness activities for you to do together. In any case, he really liked seeing you in your little workout outfit. It was super cute.
He also liked you showing him the basics of kendo; stance, footing, basic strike movement. When he felt he had gotten the hang of it, Beel jovially asked for a sparring match with you.
“I don’t know….”
“Come on [Y/N], sparring with someone is the best way to learn fighting.” He reasoned. “Besides, I’m not gonna hurt you.”
“I’m not worried about that….” He heard you mutter under your breath, but thought that he must have imagined it as you squared off.
Standing across from you in the arena, something changed. The hair on the back of Beel’s neck stood up. Not in the excited way that it normally did when he saw you. But something more….primal. His grip tightened a little more as he realized he might have to get a little serious with you.
It was all for nothing though as the match was over just as soon as it started.
The shinai went flying out of his hands, landing across the room just as Beel landed on his butt. His backside throbbing as his bell was rung clear as day. He rubbed his head as he looked up at you. “I may have forgotten to mention that I was three-time national kendo champ all through school.”
The demon looked up at you with a shiny, sparkly gaze only until now reserved for delicious food. “Teach me sensei!”
Belphie
He hated being out. He wanted to go home.
Being outside in the sun, with all these…..people was hell to him. Belphie would rather be home, in actual hell, with his blanket and pillow and quiet, rather than ‘top side’ with you for the whole afternoon. Not that it was you or anything. You were the only bright star on this miserable day. He’d be damned if he’d let one of his brothers spend the day with you when he could.
“Belphie, do you want an ice cream? Maybe that will help with the heat?”
He wanted to say that the only thing that would help him was getting the hell out of here. But, he bit his tongue. The demon knew how important this was to you to come ‘home’ now & then and he didn’t want to ruin it for you. So he just nodded and asked, “strawberry please.”
He sat in the shade as he watched you go over to the ice cream truck alone. Maybe this was a bad idea. Maybe he was just a hopeless shut in. Like Levi, only worse. He just wanted humans so much that being around them was making him crankier than normal today.
“Geez, get a look at that side show over there.”
Belphie looked up from his daze at the human who was a few yards away from him. Snickering and staring with his friends in a voice that a regular human wouldn’t be able to hear. “If you have something to say, then say it, you chicken shit fuck.” Again, he was very cranky.
The human was obviously taken aback at being heard and then called out like that. “What did you say to me?!” He yelled, once he got his bearings on the situation, and took a ‘threatening’ step forward to see if he would repeat it.
“I said ‘If you have something to say, then say it, you chicken shit fuck’.” Of course he repeated it. “Don’t mutter something under your breath like a coward. Say it like a man, or keep your gross mouth shut.” This was why he hated humans. No spine.
Well, metaphorical spine. If he kept this up, Belphie was gonna prove that he had a spine when he ripped it out and made him wear it as a neck tie.
“You little fuck--!” Belphie, of course, didn’t move when he stomped closer. Not that he needed to, because he was stopped in his tracks rather abruptly when you stepped between then. Holding a knife from your pocket.
“I suggest you get out of here, before the only ‘side show’ around here is your knife swallowing act pal.” The man seemed to frozen for a moment as he tried to process if you were serious. Then his flight instincts kicked in and he took off running with his friends across the park. “Gosh, I think I’ve been spending to much time with you guys. I never would have done anything like this before.” You said after a sigh, then turned back to Belphie.
“My hero.” He cheered softly, in his typical tired voice but still with a soft smile. Seeming extremely proud of the bad influence he was on you.

how does one narrate a well-structured story when your life has been an absolute mess? well, i guess you could start from the night you met him.
take me back to the night we met.
it was rather unusual to see an upcoming sixth year amongst the flock of first years. you were studying at hogwarts for the first time, and you were quite glad that your dad, also known as the infamous sirius black, finally let you move in with him in 12 grimmauld place, as he claimed to finally have his life together.
you were formerly from the states. moving in with your aunt (a cousin of your father’s), and studying in ilvermorny as soon as you turned 11, explaining the prominent american accent amongst the british ones.
as soon as the sorting hat decided which house you would be in, professor mcgonagall, an elderly witch in long green robes and a pointed hat, told you to meet her at the deputy headmistress’s office after the feast.
you wished that you'd asked where the office was because now you were getting lost within the numerous hallways, stairs, and rooms of hogwarts. you knew how huge this school was, but you didn’t expect it to be too enormous to get lost in.
you were currently passing by a hallway full of paintings who were having an animated chat with one another. you let yourself smile softly, admiring the magic between the hallways. some of them greeted you, which you gladly returned.
you were about to take a turn in the hallway to your left when someone suddenly yelled, “hey, wait, no!”
“wha-?” but you were too late, as soon as you stepped foot in that corridor, you were immediately drenched in orange and purple slime.
too shocked to move, you stood there frozen. the guy who yelled, stood frozen as well, grimacing as you carefully wiped the slime off your face.
fred closed his eyes in mortification, expecting you to be mad. he anticipated yelling or scolding, and maybe even if you considered beating him to the pulp. when it didn’t come, he peeked an eye out open to see you levitating the slime off your body, and before he even knew it, he, too, was drenched in slime.
you laughed, and he swore he never heard anything so angelic until he got a fleeting speck of it. he didn’t even mind the slime dripping off him when he finally got to see a proper look at you. if he was going to be honest, he never really paid attention to the sorting ceremony. he and george have been talking about all the pranks they’re planning to pull, so this was the first time he caught the sight of you, and oh sweet baby merlin, he thought, you were stunning.
he snapped out of his trance when you decided to speak up, “so, is this some sort of welcoming tradition for the new-comers?”
“oh, only for the ravishing ones,” he smirked, giving himself a mental pat on the back for immediately coming up with the witty one-liner.
you rolled your eyes, fixing your brand new y/h robes. fred looked at you with curiosity, “what are you doing here, anyway? students don’t normally roam around here, most especially newbies. that’s why i waited for good ol’ filch whereas george was grabbing the dung bombs,” realizing that you probably had no idea who filch or george was, he stopped talking, giving you some room to talk.
“ah, well-”
“miss black! there you are, i had to question a few students and paintings about your whereabouts. th—“ she stopped speaking, glancing at the redhead behind me, “mr. weasley! what- what is the meaning of this? why are you drenched in goop?”
fred grinned, sending a wink your way, “that’s my cue! see ya ‘round, gorgeous. oh, and you, too, minnie!”
you and the deputy headmistress stared at his retreating figure with amusement. professor mcgonagall led you to her office and let you choose from the various optional classes and introduced you to a student who’ll give you a tour around the obsolete castle.
our friendship will never die, you're gonna see it's our destiny.
it has been two days since that fateful night when you met a certain redhead. you were trying to recall the directions towards the charms classroom when someone ran past you, harshly bumping your shoulder, and consequently making you drop your things. a distant yelp from behind you was heard, “oi! george, you prat!”
“godric, ’m sorry, didn’t notice you,” he said, picking up your fallen books and pouch of quills and ink. you looked up and recognized the fiery red hair and deep brown eyes.
“y’know, i should really anticipate the day when we’ll run into each other without you dousing me in slime or bumping into me when you're running away from someone,” you laughed, taking the books from him as you stood up with your pouch in hand.
“what d'you mean?” he tilted his head, evident confusion occupying his face.
you observed him, seeing if this is some kind of joke that he was playing. when you’ve seen no mischief swimming in his eyes or a smirk, you knew he was serious.
“oh, come on, weasley. i don’t reckon getting drenched in slime would be effortlessly forgettable,” you asked.
“i remember you, just not when you were, erm, drenched in slime. i saw you at the sorting ceremony. padfoot's daughter, yeah?” he said, rubbing the back of his neck. he rummaged through his head for where he could’ve possibly seen you. he felt bad that he didn’t know what you were talking about.
you sort of thought you left an impression. well, seeing as you were a victim in one of his pranks. “well, yeah, that, too, but i was talking about when i was in a hallway you claimed was deserted? then professor mcgonagall found us? no?”
he frowned, but just as his lips turned downwards, he started chuckling. weird.
“what’s so funny?”
“we haven’t particularly met.”
“what d’you mean? i’m rather sure that i wasn’t dreaming when that happened,”
he laughed, running a hand through his hair, “don’t worry, you weren’t,”
you were confused, to say the least, but then another voice from behind you spoke up, “that’s because it was me who you met that crucial night, goop,”
you looked up at him just in time as he swung an arm around your shoulder. you looked back between the guy who bumped into you and the guy who drenched you in slime.
back and forth.
forth and back.
red hair. red hair.
twin. twin.
“oh. OH!” you exclaimed, “twins! oh, merlin, this is embarrassing,” you laughed sheepishly. of course, that just had to happen.
they both laughed along with you. fred removed his hold on you and stood beside his twin, “yes, twins.”
george chuckled, offering you his hand to shake, “‘m george weasley, the bloke who drenched you in slime’s twin, and i sure won’t be forgetting about you now.”
i chuckled, shaking your head, “would you two be so nice and show me the way to charms? ‘ve got a few more minutes before classes start,”
“‘course, we’ve got nothing better to do than escort a pretty girl to her class, anyway,” fred, at least you thought it was fred, winked at you, making you huff amusingly.
the three of you walked together towards the desired destination as they, too, had charms, when curiosity got the best of you and asked, “hey george?”
he looked down at you, blame the evident height differences. “yeah?”
“why were you even running away a while ago?”
his eyes widened and fred smirked, taking his frozen state as an opportunity to smack his head, “tosspot left me with snape when he caught us, he got to run away whilst i got a weeks worth of detention,”
you snorted, “first rule of pranking is you don’t get caught, and here i thought you two were experts,”
“oh we are, darling! snape’s just timed well-- greasy prat’s been waiting for the chance to punish us.”
“well, if you’d let me, i’d be willing to be an apprentice for this little mischievous escapade of yours,” you offered, smiling as they both looked at each other with compelled looks.
“alright, freddie? reckon this is a start of a revolutionary friendship,”
“a start of a revolutionary friendship, indeed, georgie.”
“well, now that we’ve established our apprenticeship, ‘tis lovely to meet you both, i’m y/n black.” you smiled, taking each of their hands. they grinned mischievously, “glad to have you with us, miss black,” and before you knew it, they dragged you to the classroom by your arms.
each night i ask the stars up above, why must i be a teenager in love?
“you fancy him, don’t you?” you shifted your gaze away from fred and glanced at george, who was looking at you with a pointed look.
you knew that you could trust george, he’s your best friend, and you are his. you knew that he wouldn’t tell a soul, even fred, despite him being his twin.
you sighed, “yeah, yeah, i do,”
he nodded, a thoughtful look on his face, “do you ever plan on telling him?”
“no. it’s obvious that he doesn’t like me back. he sees me as his best friend and i certainly don’t want to ruin our dynamics, george.” you whispered as you saw fred making his way towards the both of you.
“what’re the two of you whispering about?” fred whispered, moving his head in between you and george.
you smiled, “fred. but don’t tell him that! we don’t want to feed his egotistical attitude if he ever finds out,”
“oh? well, why’re you talking about,” he looks at his surroundings as if he didn’t want anyone to hear, “fred?”
“we were debating whether he’s the most handsome twin, or if it’s george.”
“and who’d you say?”
“george, of course,”
fred gasped dramatically, earning a harsh glare from madam pince, “you wound me, woman! how could i possibly live with the betrayal?”
you giggled silently, scared that madam pince might consider giving you her wrath, “sit down, you wanker, madam pince might kick us out again.”
“are you actually scared of the librarian?” george chuckled.
you look at him with wide eyes, “how’re you not? if looks could kill, she’d give he who must not be named a run for his money!”
“SHHH!” speak of the devil. you cowered away in between the twins as they made fun of you.
“it isn’t funny!” you whispered, tilting your head so your hair curtained your face.
“i don’t know, goop, it’s quite hilarious,” george continued snickering. ‘goop’ has been their nickname for you ever since your first encounter with fred, it was supposed to be a one-time thing, the nickname, but they sort of just stuck with it.
fred cooed, “aww, don’t worry that pretty little head of yours, i’ll— georgie and i will protect you from pince’s frenzy,”
you rolled your eyes trying to express irritation, but the smile on your lips have betrayed you. you were about to respond when you’ve been interrupted by a couple of giggling second-year girls.
the three of you snapped your heads towards them, confused.
“s’there anything you’d like to share, ladies?” fred asked, wiggling his eyebrows, making them giggle more. you and george shared a glance and smiled.
the three of them looked at you, making you dumbfounded, “is he your boyfriend?”
your eyes widened in surprise, but you decided to play along and joke, “which one?”
they giggled, pointing at fred.
you both looked at each other with raised eyebrows and small smiles.
“yes.”
“no.”
you looked at each other once more, you with a mix of stun and disbelief, fred had a huge grin on his face. and george? george just rolled his eyes, displeased with the obliviousness of his best friend and twin who clearly got the hots for each other.
“we’d make such a cute couple, no?” fred asked, throwing an arm around your shoulder.
you looked at the girls and gave them a wink, “hmm, i don’t know… i’m not particularly fond of having ginger babies.” they giggled. gee, what was wrong with them and giggling?
he rolled his eyes and leaned forward, gesturing for the second years to come closer. fred smiled at them and whispered, “i’m not her boyfriend, i’m her husband,” they gasped, grabbing your attention, you tried to make out what he was saying but to no avail.
“yeah, we’re married, and now you better start calling her mrs. weasley whenever you see her, yeah?” fred grinned mischievously before leaning back to his chair. you looked at him in suspicion, but he paid you no mind as he opened up a book that you both know he won’t read.
you shook your head, checking your watch for the time, “i better get going, i promised to help hermione with differentiating runes,” you kissed the cheek of both boys, but lingering a bit with fred. when you pulled back, you waved at the girls.
they giddily waved back and said, “goodbye! see you around, mrs. weasley!”
you stopped in your tracks, slowly turning around to glare at the sniggering twins. you scoffed, turning back around and leaving the library, avoiding the gaze of the frightening librarian. as soon as you were out of sight, you let out a chuckle, feeling your cheeks heat up.
fred watched you gradually get smaller as you left the library. he would be lying if he said that he didn’t wish to be in a relationship with you, but he didn’t want to make a move— afraid that you’ll reject him and your friendship would be broken. he adores your friendship too much to risk it.
george watched as his brother stared at your retreating figure with love and longing. he shooed away the girls so that he could talk to him without any disturbances.
he repeated the question he asked you moments before fred arrived, “you fancy her, don’t you?”
he snapped his gaze to his brother, eyes wide and brows raised, “huh?”
“y/n. d’you fancy her?” he repeated, this time facing his parchment to continue writing the order forms.
“why? do you?”
“no. now, answer my question.”
fred sighed, “i’m head over heels for her, georgie,”
george just smiled at his brother, mentally counting all the galleons he’ll be able to receive within the month— he knew you’d get together sooner or later, but george definitely wished it‘d be sooner because he doesn’t really fancy losing tons of galleons.
we used to steal your parents' liquor, and climb to the roof. talk about our future, like we had a clue.
after weeks of pining after each other, and a very satisfied (and a few galleons richer) george later, you can finally say that fredrick gideon weasley was now your boyfriend. all you had to do now is to tell your father.
the weasleys were staying over at 12 grimmauld place for the holidays, much to yours and fred’s pleasure.
the ‘adults’ (they still didn’t want you and the twins to join despite your age legality) were still having the meeting and it was quite late. you just had to wait till everyone was sound asleep before sneaking out of your room and wait for fred in the lounge.
once you’ve heard the satisfying shut of each door, you quietly tiptoed around your room with your fluffy socks on, determined not to wake ginny and hermione up.
once you opened the door, you were met with the sound of another door opening. you froze, hastily thinking of some sort of excuse as to why you were still awake.
you didn’t see nor hear any signs of movement so you peeked your head a bit, and saw fred doing the same. you quietly giggled, carefully shutting the door as you made your way to fred.
“hi goop, missed you,” fred mumbled, fuzzing his head in the crook of your neck.
you laughed silently, “fred, we just saw each other three hours ago.”
“i know, but that was too long. it felt like forever,” he smiled, “now, c’mon, we need to celebrate,”
“celebrate? for what?”
“for successfully sneaking out, of course,” he said, steering you around the house, hand in hand. “now, d’you reckon your dad has a stash of fire whiskey somewhere?”
you hummed, removing the hold of his hand and rummaged through the kitchen's cupboards, “aha! there y’are,”
fred turned his gaze towards you as you shook the whiskey in his face, “let’s go,”
he grabbed the shot glasses and a blanket that was laying around in the couch before letting you drag him away.
“c’mon, freddie,” you whispered, slowly opening the attic ladder, hoping that kreacher was nowhere to be seen.
you both went in, careful not to step on any creaking floorboards. when you reached the window you opened it and handed the whiskey to fred, “give me a minute,”
“be careful!” he exclaimed, nervously watching you climb over the ledge.
“always am,” you winked before raising yourself and onto the roof, “give me that and climb,”
fred did so, and as soon as the both of you were up there, he threw the thick blanket over the both of you, and cuddled with each other.
a couple of shots later, the both of you were giggling, talking about all the pranks you’ve managed to pull through the years you’ve been in hogwarts. the laughter soon died down and the sounds of breathing, the wind, and the engines of the muggle vehicles were the only things that were heard.
“do… do you ever think about the future?” fred asked. you stared at him, he wasn’t looking at you though, he was gazing at the twinkling stars up above.
“yeah… they mostly contain you, though,” you whispered, placing your head on his chest as he pulled you closer.
“yeah?”
“yeah.”
“me, too,” he smiled, kissing your forehead.
you sat up and kissed his nose, “c’mon, red, reckon we’ve had too much to drink,”
the both of you packed up everything you’ve used, carefully made your way down, kept the firewhiskey, and washed the glasses. too tired and drunk to go to bed, the both of you retired on the couch, sleeping in each other’s arms.
as soon as the sun crept up through the window blinds, you groaned, rubbing your eyes to get rid of the sleep. once you’ve gotten used to the blinding light, you looked up and smiled at your sleeping redhead.
you slowly slipped out of his grasp, kissed his forehead, and walked towards the drawers to look for painkillers. you haven’t even drunk that much.
fred woke up a little while later after feeling the warmth of your body heat disappear, he yawned quietly, taking in his surroundings and remembered what happened last night. he was quite giddy, to say the least. he has been after hearing that you thought of having a future with him.
he stood up and saw you at the kitchens, drinking a glass of water. he made his way towards you and slipped his arms around you, hugging from behind.
“g’morning, love,” his morning voice still never fails to make you flustered.
“morning, freddie,” you smiled. he moved around you and grabbed a cup of water for himself. as soon as he made sure his morning breath was out of the way, he smiled at you, “it’s nice that your voice was the first thing i heard today.”
he leaned against the counter as you wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him in for a kiss.
fred gladly complied, wrapping his arms around your waist, pulling you closer. you slowly bit his bottom lip, emitting a low groan from him.
sirius just woke up and was desperately in need of a cup of black coffee, no pun intended, he chuckled. he grabbed his hair brush from his vanity, brushing his tousled hair as he silently went down, careful not to wake anyone up.
as soon as he entered the kitchen, he was met with the sight of the weasley boy groping his daughter’s arse. his hand stopped mid-brush.
“get your hands off my daughter, weasley!” he growled, making his way towards the poor bloke.
the both of you immediately jumped away from each other, eyes wide. this isn’t how he’s supposed to find out!
fred was scared shitless, if he might say, so he carefully backed away as sirius approached him like a predator.
fred ran. yes, ran. and sirius? he chased him around the kitchen with his hair brush in hand.
“‘m sorry, sirius, don’t kill me,”
“how dare you come into my house and snog my daughter!”
“no, sirius, ‘m sorry!”
“then you strut around and grope her arse like that,”
“sirius! said ‘m sorry, put the hair brush down!”
“didn’t molly teach you any manners?!”
“she did, she did, she’s a wonderful mother. sirius, no!”
in other times, you would’ve stopped the chaos whilst sirius, who was still in his dog-printed pajamas, chased a very pale fred around the kitchen with a hair brush.
but you didn’t, so you were laughing your arse off. you wouldn’t want to miss the chance to laugh your arse out with what’s happening. you knew your dad was a sweetheart, he wouldn’t actually kill fred, right? … right?
soon, every member of the order and the children, frantically went down with their wands drawn out, looking around for trouble, but they, instead of seeing any death-eater related attacks, saw a very angry padfoot manhunting a 6’3 ginger twin with a harmless hair brush, and a wheezing y/n.
“mum, hide me! he’s gonna murder me with a brush!” fred immediately took cover behind his mother. she and the other adults sighed exasperatedly but smiling nonetheless.
“thought someone was getting tortured with how freddie was screaming bloody murder,” george snickered.
“get out here and face me like a man, fredrick!” sirius growled, but stopped a bit and asked, “or is it george?”
fred cowered away behind his mum, “george, george! ‘tis definitely ‘im!”
george’s eyes widened and yelped, “‘m george! he’s fred!”
“dad! stop that, fred and i are dating,” you said, wiping your tears away.
sirius was taken aback, lowering his weapon, “what?”
“we were supposed to tell you today, but i guess you were just too eager,” you teased him, making your way towards fred and intertwining your hands together. fred looked slightly hesitant but smiled sheepishly at your father.
sirius just squinted his eyes at fred, racking over the tall redhead, “you better watch your behavior, boy, or you might as well just sleep with an eye open.”
you knew your dad loved fred, he’s been asking about him the moment you’ve told him about your blooming friendship and the pranking adventures you have had. he admires the bloke, fred reminds him of his younger self, minus the playboy endeavors and the family issues. he approves of the boy, but that doesn’t mean he fancies waking up to him snogging his daughter.
sirius slowly approached fred, opening his arms for a hug, but fred flinched, making everyone laugh. when he realized what sirius was trying to do, he laughed nervously, hugging him back and awkwardly patting his back. he was about to pull away when sirius tugged him back in and whispered, “i’m serious, fred. one wrong move, and i’ll be damned to be back in azkaban,”
fred shuddered slightly, but nodded nonetheless, “i’ll never hurt her, sirius, she means the world to me.” he smiled, both of them looking at you as you laughed with george and remus, retelling them what happened.
i don't promise a lot, but i'm keeping my word.
it has been at least a year and a few months since your father has passed, and fred has been with you through it all. you were spending your holidays at the burrow with the rest of the weasleys (plus harry, remus, and tonks).
you were currently in the living room, gossiping about boys (well, you were talking about fred) and the latest scandals in hogwarts with ginny.
“gin, i mean, have you seen the way harry’s been looking at you during dinner?” you asked, watching as her face grew red.
“he has not! ‘m convinced that you inhaled too much of fred’s perfume to be talking ‘bout something as poxy as that, y/n.” she laughed, fiddling with her sleeping robes.
“can you blame me? he smells so good. now, don’t tell me you haven’t had a sniff of thou chosen one’s essence?” you giggled, “c’mon gin! the both of you are meant to be, you’re soulmates, a stubborn one, at that.”
“we’re not, y/n! you and fred’re the proper definition of soulmates,”
you smiled softly, “it’ll take time, ginny. i can see the way he looks at you, it’s the same way i look at your brother,”
she sighed, “let’s just hope you’re right,”
“i’m always right,” you joked, waving at fred as he made his way towards the both of you.
“what’re my lovely girlfriend and sister talking about?” he smiled, kissing your cheek.
“soulmates,” ginny shrugged, looking away from harry.
“soulmates? what a load of bollocks,” fred’s face twisted in disgust, before whispering in your ear, “we’re definitely soulmates though,”
your face started to heat up and you couldn’t stop the smile spreading across your face, “yeah?”
“yeah,” he pecked your lips, throwing an arm around your shoulder and turning to ginny, “yeah!”
“i reckon he’ll marry you on the spot if he can,” she rolled her eyes, smiling as well since she heard what fred said.
“oh i would’ve done it the moment she drenched me in slime, but it has to be special, y’know?” he said, peppering your face with kisses, “flowers, confetti, diamond ring, grand gestures, all that sort.”
“freddie, i’ll marry you even if you propose with a toy ring,” you beamed up at him, kissing his nose, “because i’ll love you forever and always.”
“i’ll love you forever and always, too, goop,” he said, looking at you with pure love and adoration, “and that’s a promise.”
i'll say, "will you marry me?", i swear that i will mean it.
and fred did mean it as you’ve been together for four years now and counting.
“we’re in this together, goop,” he said, which leads to where you are now, fighting off the death eaters and co, side-by-side.
“stupefy!” you shouted, knocking off the death eater charging towards percy.
“thanks,” he breathed out, you nodded, “no problem.”
“incendio!”
“ascendio!”
“incarcerous!”
“stupefy!”
“petrificus totalus!”
you saw fred and percy handling a group of death eaters beside you as you finished off one, but what edged you off was one of them raised their wand, but it wasn’t pointing at any one of you. it was pointing at something behind you, you looked back just in time as he yelled the spell.
“fred!” you pushed him, mustering up all your strength to bring you along as the wall from behind you collapsed.
you coughed, “stupefy!” successfully throwing back the man.
you detach yourself from fred, “fred, fred?” you patted his cheeks, he was still breathing.
“c’mon darling, you have to wake up,” you cried, looking up for a bit as percy kept the remaining death eaters distracted.
“marry me,” fred whispered
you let out a breath of relief as you looked down, “w-what?” you wiped off the dust in his face.
“marry me,” he said more clearly, slowly sitting up to cup your face.
you slapped his arm, “you could’ve gotten yourself killed, you numpty!”
“but… i didn’t?” he yelped, rubbing his arm to soothe the pain, “not the answer that i was expecting but, alright,”
“marry me, y/n,” he kneeled down on one knee, grasping your hands, “i know that this isn’t exactly the proposal i’ve had in mind, hell, i don’t even have the ring, but i love you ‘till the ends of the earth and i’m asking you once again, y/n black. will you do the honors of being my future wife?”
you cried, nodding your head as you didn’t trust yourself to speak up. you pulled him in a hug as you sobbed against your shoulder, “i love you, too, fred, forever and always,”
he kissed you, he kissed you like it was the last thing he’ll ever get to do.
“erm, guys, i’m terribly happy for the both of you, and i hate to say this but we’re in the middle of a war!” percy warned.
“c’mon, goop, we’ve got a war to win,” fred kissed you one last time before the both of you ran off to help percy.
and i realized, no, we're not promised tomorrow.
they said that a couple’s wedding day is bound to be the best day of their lives. a new chapter to write. a new door to open. a new voyage to venture. tons of possibilities.
you were standing in front of a length-view mirror, admiring yourself in the reflection. you were wearing the wedding dress of your dreams, your hair was styled into a sophisticated up-do, and your makeup was elegant.
“hey, sis-in-law, you ready?” george peeked his head through the door, “wow, i-”
“hi george,” you smiled, wiping off the tears gathering in your eyes, “oh, merlin,”
“freddie’s gonna go bonkers,” he hugged you, pulling back to admire you once again, “c’mon.”
you and fred granted george to be his best man and the one who’ll walk you across the aisle, and for the first time in your six years of friendship, you swore you never saw him hug you so tight with tears in his eyes.
as soon as you arrived in front of the closed archway, george stopped to look at you, “you sure you don’t want to back out, goop? fred farts in his sleep sometimes. ‘ve got the keys of the flying ford anglia in case you ever need an escape plan,” he joked.
you giggled, “i think i can handle a farting fred, georgie. i’ve been your best friend for too long, you’ll never know how much i’ve been through,”
he chuckled, “if that’s the case, then let’s go get you and loverboy officially married,”
as soon as the door’s been opened, you suck in a breath, awestruck with how the decorations were perfect— all thanks to molly’s orders and hermione’s organizing, guests in their assigned seats, and most especially, your husband-to-be clad in a black and white tuxedo, tears gathering in his eyes. everything was so magical.
you were expecting that today would be the happiest day of your life, you were expecting to exchange your detailed vows with fred, you were expecting for the long-awaited “i do’s”, you were expecting to seal the deal with a kiss, you were expecting to have a wedding ring as an eternal promise displayed on your left ring finger, you were expecting to listen to george’s embarrassing stories of you newlyweds, you were expecting to start your future with fred.
what you didn’t expect though? was that as soon as george gave you away, as soon as you were standing in front of him, fred apologized and ran away, tugging at his tie.
your smile disappeared.
the guests gasped, turning their attention to you as ron and arthur chased after him. tears started to pool in your eyes, releasing a shaky breath. you hardly noticed that the guests were anticipating your reaction or that the weasleys were ushering them into the venue where the reception was supposed to be. you were just staring at the place where fred once stood, expecting him to come back and say that it was all a prank.
but he didn’t, and that’s what broke you the most.
you collapsed on the floor, sobbing on george’s shoulder as he whispered some comforting words.
you’ve waited, and waited, and waited.
you sat on the step board, still in your wedding dress, tear-stained face, and messy hair. george offered some company, just sitting beside you as you stayed silent, rubbing your back soothingly as the guests bid you goodbye with sad smiles.
george was mad. no, that was an understatement, he was fuming. he knew how much fred loved you. he knew all the plans he had in store for the both of you. he knew all the words fred will say in his vows. what changed?
as soon as everyone had cleared out, you refused to leave from where you were. you refused the food they gave you, or the clothes to change into. you were positive that fred would come back. he promised.
“c’mon, y/n, please, let’s just get you home,” george said, offering you his hand.
“no, i-i’ll stay, george,” you said, your voice cracking, “i’ll wait for him, he’ll come back. he can never do this to me, he wouldn’t.”
but you were wrong. he never came back. he broke his promise.
by the time the clock struck 7, george have had enough of your stubbornness. he understood how you felt, of course, but he didn’t want his best friend to wait all night for someone he knew wouldn’t come back.
so the both of you walked, he shrugged off his suit jacket and wrapped it around your shoulders. you didn’t want to come back to the burrow, but you had to pick up your godson and be on your way. you didn’t see fred there either. you ignored everyone and all their pitying stares. you didn’t even hug molly back when she wanted to comfort you.
you just carefully detached yourself from her, grabbed your godson, and went out. you and george were walking in silence as he carried the boy, walking the both of you towards the apparition point.
george sighed, he knew he wouldn’t be seeing you for a while, and he wanted to give you some space, so brought the sleeping kid to your hold and kissed your forehead, “owl me whenever you need me, yeah?”
you forced a sad smile, “thanks georgie, i’ll see you around,” and apparated away to 12 grimmauld place.
you said you'll grow old with me.
“uncle georgie!!” teddy, your godson, immediately abandoned his coloring book and leaped in the arms of george.
“hey, little man!” he laughed, watching as teddy’s hair turned into the same shade of red as his. it always happens ever since he decided that george was his favorite uncle (don’t tell harry!), and he’ll never change it to his original hair color until the next day.
you smiled, placing your cup of coffee down to greet your best friend, “hey, george,” you kissed his cheek.
“‘m just checkin’ in, how’re the both of you?” he asked, ruffling teddy’s red hair.
“good! mum—“ he stopped, “erm, i mean, auntie y/n will finally bring me to di-gonley later!”
your heart stopped for a moment when he called you ‘mum’. this hasn’t been the first time that it happened, he usually gets too preoccupied to notice, but you never mentioned it nor talked to him about it as he still missed his biological mother. “it’s diagon alley, lovey, and yes, we’ll be leaving in a few,”
you walked away from them and grabbed your purse, “go ask uncle georgie if he wants to come join.”
he beamed, grabbing george’s hands, “can you please come with us, uncle georgie? please, please, please?”
george sent him a faux look of contemplation, “hmm, i don’t know, teddy. d’you think auntie y/n will buy us some ice cream?”
teddy gasped, and wobbled his way to you, “auntie y/n! will you buy us some ice cream? uncle georgie said he’ll join if you do!”
you playfully glared at george, making him chuckle, before returning your gaze to teddy lupin, whose face was now in what you’ll describe as his, ‘i’m-a-very-adorable-boy-please-give-in’.
“oh, alright, let uncle georgie help you wear your shoes,”
as soon as the three of you were good to go, you floo’ed your way to diagon alley. you never apparated when you were with teddy, he usually gets sick when you do, so you had to fixate a floo network in your muggle flat. it was an incredible hassle, especially with muggle neighbors. you had to use multiple silencing spells while the wizards in charge were doing it.
it’s been a while since you’ve been to diagon alley, you’ve avoided it at all costs, especially after… that … anyways, teddy has been seriously adamant on going ever since george told him all about it and his shop.
you knew that you couldn’t fend it (and him) off forever, so after mustering up every courage you had, you agreed. you reckon that it was worth it, seeing your godson, the boy who made your life full of hope and happiness again, incredibly bubbly and cheerful, it eased your nerves a bit.
fred knew that his twin was off to go somewhere. george always tells him, but he never mentions where he’s going or who he’s meeting, just that he had places to be. so to busy himself, he went to florean fortescue’s ice cream parlor to cool off.
while waiting for your order of three cones of ice cream, george offered to bring teddy to flourish and bott’s since he knew how much teddy loves coloring books and bedtime storybooks.
once fred passed by the street, he opened the entrance with a satisfying ring of the welcoming bell. he breathed in the sweet smell of the countless flavors of ice cream. he scanned through the shop for a place to sit when it suddenly stopped at the sight of a familiar h/c. he froze, no, it couldn’t be, right?
“three servings of ice cream supreme for y/n!” the man hollered.
no…
you stood up and made your way towards the front, and fred had gotten a glimpse of you. you looked gorgeous, you always were, fred thought. you were using a hairband, something you used to despise as it always hurt the back of your ears, doing its job to keep your hair away from your face.
you took your order just in time to see your companions for the day, oblivious to the stare of another certain ginger.
“mum! uncle georgie bought me a new book! ‘tis about dragons!” a tiny redhead exclaimed with glee.
fred felt his heart drop, ‘mum’? ‘uncle georgie’? red hair…? again, it couldn’t be, right?
“edward remus! lower your voice, darling,” you chuckled, setting your ice creams down on your table.
“oops, sorry,” he apologized sheepishly, covering his mouth.
before you could even reply, a voice from behind you has spoken up, “erm, y/n?”
your breath hitched in your throat. “no,” you whispered.
george grimaced, grabbing your ice creams and a very confused teddy’s hand, “we’ll be at the shop if you want to leave,” he whispered to you before leaving the both of you alone (minus the parlor’s customers and employees).
you frowned, following them out, and steered away from your ex-fiancé.
“y/n, wait!” fred followed you out and grabbed your hand.
you whipped around to face him, pulling your hand away from his hold, tears pooling in your eyes, “what do you want, fred?”
“was that your kid?” he asked casually, trying to hide his nervousness.
“no- he’s teddy, lupin and tonks’ kid, i’m his godmother. he forgets that i’m not his biological mum sometimes, and if you were wondering why his hair was red, it’s because he loves george.” you said, “now, ‘m gonna ask you again, fred, what. do. you. want?”
“i- i just wanted to talk,” he mumbled, looking down at his shiny shoes to refrain from looking at your crestfallen expression.
“seriously, fred? you want to talk?” you scoffed in disbelief, “alright, let’s talk, let’s talk about how you left me, let’s talk about how you broke your promise, let’s talk about how you broke me,”
fred winced at your wavering voice, “‘m sorry, darling,”
“are you really, fred? because- because it’s been almost two years and you—“ you sighed, wiping away your tears to no avail, it’s still falling. instead, you asked him the question that’s been on your mind ever since, “why did you leave me?”
“i was scared,” he started, cracking his knuckles. a mannerism of his when he’s feeling anxious.
“scared of what exactly?” you urged, determined to know what he was so afraid of that he had to run away on your wedding day.
“of you…” he mumbled, looking up at you. he wished he hadn’t because he didn’t know it was possible for you to look even broken than before.
“me?” your voice cracked, “so it’s my fault, now?”
fred shook his head, getting frustrated at himself, “no, no. i was scared that, if you married me, you’d get hurt because i might not live up to your expectations.”
“bullshit, fred!” you cried, earning a few looks from the bystanders, you didn’t care, and nor did fred, “why? don’t you think i’m getting hurt right now?”
fred felt his tears in his eyes, “i’ve had so many doubts, so many questions, y/n,” you were about to reply when he raised hand, “and no, it wasn’t about you, just please, listen,”
he sucked in a breath, “y/n, what if i said yes?”
“we would’ve been happy, we wouldn’t be here in the first place,” you whimpered, feeling the heartbreak you’ve once experienced over and over again, “did you even really love me?”
“i did, i still do, but you deserve so much better than me, y/n” fred whispered, running a hand through his hair as he looked at you again.
you shook your head, “stop lying, fred."
“no, y/n! what if i said yes and i wouldn’t be able to keep my vows?”
“well, fred, you didn’t even get to marry me and you already broke the promise! now, tell me, did that answer your questions?” you asked, “did it, fred?”
fred let a tear fall, “no, no it didn’t. it just made me realize how hard it was to lose you,”
you sniffled, staring up at the sky to keep the tears in bay, “i loved you, fred! i loved you and you left me. i loved you… and i still do, and i hate myself for it because no matter how hard i try to convince myself that i’ve moved on, i haven’t. fred, i still look for you in everyone in hopes that i could somehow get some closure… and it doesn’t help that i see you in everything as well; i remember you when i see a plate of pancakes, knowing how you love them with chocolate, i remember you when it rains because we used to dance around in it like there’s no one around. it hurts, freddie. it hurts because i see you everywhere because we used to do everything together.”
“and i regret it, alright? i regret letting you go. it has been eating me alive ever since. i couldn’t function well without you,” he whispered, “and all i’m asking is for forgiveness, y/n.”
you just stared at him, hiccuping as you continued to cry. you wanted to leap into his warm embrace and forgive him. you wanted to take him back. you wanted to kiss him. you just wanted to be in his arms again. you just wanted to be with him again.
but he hurt you. he hurt you in many ways you’ve never expected. he broke you. the same guy who swore to your father that he’ll never hurt you. the same guy who promised to marry you and spend the rest of your life with.
fred saw the hesitation and hurt in your eyes so he sighed, “i’m sorry, goop. i’m sorry for being such a coward. i was never ready to say goodbye… i never was,” he took one last glance at you before leaving you once again.
you sobbed as you watched his figure retreat slowly. you didn’t care if there were people looking at you with concern and pity. you didn’t care if someone had accidentally bumped into you. your mind was too busy with the thoughts of fred, so you apparated back into your flat, trusting george to take care of teddy for a while.
fred’s heart broke even more as he heard your distant sob. he let the tears gathered in his eyes fall. all he wanted to do was to bring you in his arms and shower you with his love, make up for all the lost time, but he knew that he deserved the pain. he deserved it because he hurt you, he broke you, and he can never forgive himself for that.

BNHA you sleep walk/talk 2
Summary: You have a tendency to talk or walk in your sleep, it never really bothered your boyfriend, if you wandered off in your sleep he'd just follow you to make you don't get harmed and take you back to bed, or if you talk in your he'd humor you as he found it hilarious! but tonight was different... this night you seemed to channel something paranormal and it scares you boyfriend shitless.
----------------------------
Shoto: He was woken up at around 4 in the morning by you sitting up, Shoto was expecting you to get up start walking or start talking about how cats were hoarding pogo-sticks in the shed or something.... But instead when Shoto rolled over he was met with you staring intently into the hallway almost glaring. "What are you looking at?" he hummed eyes squinting trying to see what had attention. "Shh... She's listening." You whispered "Y/n, who's in the hallway?" Shoto asked now fully awake thinking someone was in the house. "The lady in the purple night gown" you hummed still asleep your husbands brow furrowed confused, maybe you really were dreaming and he was just being paranoid?
Just then Shoto felt a chill go down his spine when he saw the hallway light flickering, he watched petrified as a frail old woman in a purple nightgown ambled passed the bedroom and continue down the hall towards the guest room, then the lights stopped, Shoto carefully crept out of bed and looked from where the woman came from which was a noting but a wall... Which unnerved him even more as he tried figure out if it was quirk... or. "Don't be silly Shoto ghosts don't exist." he hissed to himself before following where the old woman had gone, only to find nothing...
Shoto checked everywhere in the house and even outside, but there was no sign of the old woman. "That's not possible..." he muttered not understanding what was happening, that old woman looked severely emaciated and had limp there was no possible way she could've ran out of the house so quickly! That’s what you woke up to that morning, Shoto was standing in the living room with a pot of coffee and a chalkboard layout of the house with a bunch of sticky notes scattered around. One yellow on the hall near your bedroom. [Entry point?} and three pinks marked [possible exits.] on the kitchen/backdoor, hallway window, Crawl space??? the peppermint haired man took a sip of his coffee then noticed you staring at him.
"Shoto? what heck is all this?" you asked warily while looking at the board perturbed, Your husband told you about your episode last night and described the old woman in the hall, and how she escaped and you went pale, you rushed to a closet pulled out a middle school year book and showed Shoto a picture of School's librarian! "This was Mrs. Ike... there's no way you could've seen her last night." You told him this used to be her house and that she's been dead for ten years! Needles to say Shoto had new outlook on the supernatural that day.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fatgum-Taishiro: Fatgum had woken up for midnight snack when he noticed you weren't in bed. "Y/n...dumpling?" he called out before yawning and looking around, he hummed looking around the dimly lit room not seeing you anywhere he assumed you went to bathroom and made his way to the kitchen but as he was walking through the living room, he saw you standing in front of the storage closet, where you've apparently barricaded the door with a heavy trunk that doubled as the coffee table, and curtain rod.
Taishiro was very confused by the by the whole thing until he remembered you slept walked and vaguely wondered if you were having another zombie plague dream? which would explain the barricade he was about take you back to bed when you suddenly whispered. "The one upstairs can never come out!" Your fiancé's brows furrowed incredulously and was gonna ask what does that mean?
When the door started rattling! followed by a woman screaming in anger! Taishiro jumped back yanking you behind him, which snapped you awake, needless to say you were scared shitless watching the door rattling and hearing a woman screaming and cursing like rabid animal both of you were staring stunned before you snapped out of it and called the police.
The "One upstairs" turned out to be a forty year old housewife who been missing for two weeks, She had a closeted obsession with Fatgum and had made up an entire relationship with the blond hero, and when she heard about his engagement to someone else the woman got jealous and snapped, for those two weeks she's been living in the tiny crawlspace above the storage closet, apparently planning "rescue" Taishiro from your poisoned grasp? she had everything she needed for the crime with her, an axe, rubber gloves and garbage bags, bleach etc.. and planned to do it while Taishiro gone, apparently she heard him wake up and assumed it was morning and made her move only to fine the door blocked.
When the cops asked you how did you know she was up there? You insisted that you didn't, this was all huge coincidence or some other force at work! "Look all I know is that I had dreams that aliens were attacking the house, one got in by the attic and the only why to keep it up there was to barricade the door! I seriously didn't know that lady was hiding in there!" The cops looked at you oddly before your fiancé explained your sleep disorder to them . After this incident both you and Taishiro were looking for a new home, and had a serious talk about investing in security cameras!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kirishima x Reader x Bakugou: "Baku...Yo, Baku wake up man!" Kirishima hissed shaking Katsuki violently the blonde growled as his red eyes glared at the clock next to the bed then at his male lover. "Shitty hair it is three in the morning..." he snarled if looks could kill, but Eijirou didn't even flinch he just looked outside the bedroom with this freaked out look. "Y/n's in the hall..." Katsuki frowned annoyed that he'd been woken up cos their girlfriend had wandered off in her sleep again!
"Then go get her!" the blond huffed laying back down, but the redhead wouldn't let him! "I can't!" now Katsuki was getting more agitated! "What do you mean you can't? just hold her hand or somethin-" Kirishima cut him off. "No, you don't get it! I physically can't move her, it's like her feet are superglued to the floor!?" The Blond turned to look at him and saw Eijirou's nervous face redhead was dead serious...
They both left the bedroom to find you still standing in the hall with this blank express just starring at the end of the hall, immediately Katsuki felt a chill go down his spine as his watched Kirishima try pushing and picking you up, but it was like some kind of invisible force was keeping you pinned to that spot! "Don't stare Katsuki help me!" The blond went over to he tried pulling while Kirishma pushed, but you would not budge! they tried talking, tickling you, pinching you! but you were like a statue!
Until Katsuki set off a small explosion, that did the trick! as you awoke to your ears ringing and pissed! You were about to snap at the blond for blowing up the bed! when you noticed you weren't in the bed. instead you were standing in the hallway and your boyfriends were looking at you genuinely scared and concerned.
But before you could what ask what was going on?, saw the lights in the kitchen were flickering followed by the sound of the pots being thrown and doors slamming, making the three of you jump as the activity got worse, The tv turned on it's own channels changing rapidly, the lights started flicking in the bedroom! then a picture frame flew off the wall nearly hitting you!
That was enough for the guys as Kirishima threw you over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes as he and Bakugou ran for the front door, luckily the three of you keep your wallets and keys in a bowl by the door! Katsuki opened the door letting You and Kirishima go passed him first, before he slammed the door shut, the three of you piled into the car and drove away into night! Never to come back until it was time to move your stuff out!

“trauma, maybe? my dad’s friend who’s a muggle doctor said that trauma can completely change a person.”
there the three boys were again, sitting at the gryffindor table in the great hall, trying to understand the girl who would always sit ways away from everyone else.
“maybe she’s just really shy!” dean quickly replied, shooting down seamus’s suggestion. seamus shrugged, and took a large gulp of his morning pumpkin juice.
“no! longbottom is “shy”, but y/n? i haven’t heard her say one single thing since second year.”
neville listened in on his friend’s conversation, only letting his eyes leave them when he went to take quick glances at the girl of the hour.
y/n was to put it into simple terms... mute. it was very difficult to hear her utter a single vowel, let along a whole statement. everyone at hogwarts knew that she was not just quiet or shy, but completely silent. people wondered how one person could go without speaking for so long. she was a bit jittery, seemingly nervous all the time. if someone shot a single look at her and she noticed, she would look away without even giving the person a chance to smile or wave.
weirdly, she had always been this way. since the first day of first year, she kept to herself, not even attempting on taking the chance of getting to know someone who might become a life long friend. it really got under people’s skin when they asked her a question, and she just simply wouldn’t respond. so, this caused for students to completely avoid her. it seemed that it was a collective agreement among the school that no one should even try speaking to her. and that was because, again, they would never get a reply.
out of these students, neville longbottom seemed to be the most intrigued. he would never forget the first time he heard her speak. it was one day in third year, of course neville was clumsily making his way down the hallway. as he did so, he didn’t notice that y/n was walking straight for him. and of course, she didn’t notice him either until they both crashed into each other’s bodies. neville fell back onto the ground, letting a small huff escape from his lips. surrounding students cackled at the two as they continued walking. when he looked up, he saw the panic in her eyes and the way she quickly reached down to get her books.
“uh—merlin... sorry about that...” he stuttered, reaching down as well to help her. she glanced at him, but quickly looked away when he noticed. of course, she stayed silent. “are you alright?”
she nodded her head, and stood up with the books in her hand. “yeah. thanks.” and with that, she rushed away from him, not even giving him a chance to say one more word.
he would never forget it. the way her voice was so soft and fragile. he had honestly wished he could hear it more.
admittedly, neville felt bad for her. every time he looked at her, something nagged at him about the girl. every time she got called out in class to answer a question, he would panic for her as her face would drop.
she looked so lonely. she would sit in the back of the class always. he had seen her in the library quite often, just reading, sitting all alone at a table. he hated that she seemed so alone.
he wanted to change that.
—
the day was quiet. only the sounds of birds outside and the wind blowing through the trees on the castle grounds. saturdays were always the perfect days for going to the library, studying, or just to read a good book. that was y/n’s plans consisted of most of the time.
y/n made her way through the large halls, waving discreetly to the paintings on the wall. it seemed as if the lively pictures were the only people that ever respected her, told her hello as she walked by.
her fingers were tightly grasped around two books, as she was planning on returning both of them. her face didn’t show it, but she was quite excited to find two more books to add to her reading list. reading had always been considered an easy escape to y/n. pages filled with so many words, but told so many different stories. stories about love, heartbreak, dragons, princesses, noble wizards, y/n enjoyed all of it.
as she daydreamed about her next book, she hadn’t noticed the small group of students exchanging glances and laughing as they saw her approaching. before she knew it, her books were being slapped out of her hand, and hit the ground with a loud noise.
she looked up finally and saw draco malfoy standing right in front of her, hands in his pockets, chuckling with all of his friends from his choice of action against her.
“you gotta be quicker than that, mute!” he teased, and y/n bent down to grab the two books. when she stood up and met eyes with him again, he shook his head at her. “can’t think of a good comeback? or are you just too scared to say anything?”
she held the books tight to her chest, trembling from malfoy’s presence.
“thought so. see you around, mute.” he spat her way, but not forgetting to bump into her figure as he walked away, his friends following behind him.
y/n sighed, and turned around to make sure they were completely gone.
she started her journey once again, making her way to her sanctuary that people called the library.
when she arrived, she returned her books to madam prince silently, and this didn’t shock the librarian whatsoever. she was used to y/n coming in, checking out countless books, and checking them out and returning them muted.
as y/n skimmed the aisles, she came to the conclusion that she would once again read one of her favorite books. she had read it about seven times, but she could never get over how beautifully written it was. it was truly the best thing she had ever laid her eyes on, and she knew she would probably read it once more after this time around.
but when she went over the familiar bookshelf, the book in question wasn’t in the place it always was. she furrowed her eyes brows, and checked the rest of the shelves near just to make sure it hadn’t been misplaced. but of course, it was no where to be found.
malfoy had provided her with a sour experience already that day, and now she couldn’t even check out her favorite book? she already knew where this day was going, and she frowned in disappointment at the thought.
y/n had settled on some other fantasy novel that seemed to acquire to her taste. she checked it out, and made her way to the back of the library. she always went where it was secluded, almost no one else but her present. but little did she know, behind all the shelves she was walking by, someone followed her.
she finally found a small table to sit down at, and she did so with relief. it always made her so nervous to think that she might have to actually sit with other people one day. but luckily, that day wasn’t today. or so she thought.
because as a few minutes went by, and her eyes were glued to the book pages in front of her, she heard a chair being pushed. she looked up, and met eyes with neville longbottom. he shot her a small smile before speaking,
“can i sit here? it’s okay if not, everywhere else just feels a bit stuffy.”
she stared at his features for a moment, thinking back to the day when she bumped into him in the hallway. she gave him a single nod, and luckily, he didn’t miss it.
as he sat down in front of her, she gulped heavily. she hated being around others, even in a peaceful place such as a library.
a few minutes went by, the silence filling in the gap between the two. neville would glance at her a few times over his book, and she seemingly seemed lost in her own world. but at some point, she finally did look away from the words on the pages. she looked at the book he was “reading”, and noticed the familiar cover. if she hadn’t caught herself, she would’ve let out an audible gasp.
he had her book.
she seemed to be staring for too long, because neville looked at her.
“have you read this before?” he suddenly asked, snapping her back into reality. “it’s actually pretty good. i’m not big on fantasy, but this isn’t too bad.”
yeah, it’s an amazing book. she knew that very well.
but of course, she didn’t express that into words for neville. she only snapped her eyes back to her book, and neville frowned a bit.
did he say something wrong? he thought for sure that this was her favorite book. i mean, he had seen her with it more times than he could keep track of, so he could only assume.
“what’s that you’re reading? is it good?”
she looked up at him through hooded eyes, still not budging.
“well, anyways... i’m more of a herbology book lover. i love learning new things about plants. i think it’s really cool...”
y/n felt herself becoming confused, and almost bothered. she knew who neville was, but couldn’t understand why he was attempting to spark a conversation with her.
“i noticed that you like to read,” he mentioned, and y/n finally looked at him fully. “i mean—i see you here a lot, and you’re always reading from what i can tell. what’s your favorite genre?”
as neville attempted to get the girl to speak, he closed his book without looking. he realized that was a mistake when the heavy book closed onto his finger, and he let out a loud yelp.
as much as y/n tried, she couldn’t hold in the small giggle that fell from her lips. she covered her mouth in an attempt to hide it, but neville’s ears caught it.
“oh, you think my suffering is funny, huh?” neville joked, smiling out of triumph. she hadn’t spoke, but she laughed. and neville swore it was the most angelic thing he had ever heard.
she shook her head at his question, her cheeks turning a dark red from embarrassment. she had hoped he was okay, but nonetheless, it was funny.
the whole time they were in the library, neville rambled on about random things. he had brought up his interests in plants, making sure not to over explain his love for them. he talked about books, and random things that had happened to him and his friends during his time at hogwarts. he was making it his number one goal to get her to talk at least once.
but as darkness began to fall, and as curfew approached quicker and quicker by the minute, he hadn’t succeeded. he was quite shy at the fact that he had just sat in the library all day rambling to someone who never even spoke back. she had seemed to be listening, which took him by surprise. he had never had someone to listen to him as he spoke, let along not interrupt him in a conversation.
as much as she hated to admit it, y/n had a good time herself. she loved the way neville talked, how he explained things so deeply and with so much detail. he never seemed to miss a beat in a conversation, even if it was practically with himself. it made her realize that she wish she had the strength to speak. she wished she could respond to his questions without feeling her stomach churning.
the two left the library, their bags draped over their shoulders as they walked. y/n still had two books clutched into her hand, as she has checked out a random herbology book before leaving. neville smiled when she did so, feeling giddy inside that he had managed to spark an interest in her.
“that book is really good! it’s all about water plants! which are really cool, by the way. you should read up on gillyweed! it’s this really cool plant that—“ when he went to ramble on once more, he stopped himself. “never mind. i think i’ve talked a bit too much, today. wouldn’t you agree?”
for some reason, y/n wanted him to keep talking. it filled the silence that she considered her serenity, and she enjoyed every last word he spoke.
“well... i think this is where we part ways. do you need me to walk you back?” he asked, secretly hoping that she would say yes. but, she shook her head no. he was greatly dissatisfied, but, he tried his best to understand.
“oh, okay. well... goodnight, y/n. maybe we can hang out in the library some other time.”
he smiled at her, not expecting a word, but only catching a glimpse at the red that rose to the tips of her ears.
neville began to walk away, feeling a bit defeated.
suddenly, something that neville never wouldn’t expected:
“goodnight.”
he stopped in his place, and turned around. she covered her mouth with her books, but neville could tell that she was smiling. he couldn’t believe that the word had left her mouth.
“goodnight, y/n.” he repeated, and she shot him a smile before walking in the other direction. a genuine smile. the first one he had ever seen besides from her giggling.
he wanted to hear that voice, and those giggles more than she could ever have guessed.

LEATHERBOUND - Reader x Cassian - (I think I missed this request but I think someone req’d something similar) Reader is a librarian in Illyria when Cassian comes in asking for help finding something.
Cassian's favorite time of year in Illyria was the winter days where the sun was out. The winds were harsh enough to stun his wings, but the rays from the sun were warm enough for a perfect contrast. Not letting him freeze, but not letting him get too hot either.
The muddiness also became packed ice instead of the mess it had been over the summer. It was still messy in the more trafficked areas, but not nearly as bad. He couldn't hide the joy that rept into his heart at the sight of so many Illyrians taking joy in the season. Small winged children threw snowballs at passerbys from a ledge. A broad winged male scared them off with a flyover. Cassian entered the small shop, the smell of dust and worn carpet whirled around him. It was comforting in a strange way. It reminded him of being a child. Innocent and curiously exploring different shops at his home.
The bell above rang in a dull tone. He looked up and saw the shotty repair job on the ringer. Not exactly as it had been when he was a child, it seemed. "Stay right there!" You called from the back, putting away the stack of books you held. They clattered into the bin loudly. The sound of rustling made him curious.
"I'm just here for-" He called, starting to step further into the room. The books lined the short walls, and the stacks in the middle looked percaiously stacked. They were organized, but the bottom of the stack seemed stained. He doubted the resources for another bookcase were available.
"I know, just dont move. I just cleaned the carpet." You brought a towel from the front desk over and placed it beside the small outcropping of hard wood you had laid out for anyone first entering the store. "This is the last building in Illyria with carpets. I'd like to keep it that way." You said when the dark haired male gave you a pinched look. He bent and began taking off his boots. Boots that looked far too new for the likes of an Illyrian.
Watching him do so, you noticed the two Siphons on his hands. Then the one on his knee. Your head went fuzzy. What had you done to deserve a visit from the Lord of Bloodshed? He noticed your stare and gave you a wolfish smile. You didn't flinch away from it. The wind howled at the gaps in the stone, and you cleared your throat.
"So what do you need?" You asked, crossing your hands behind your back. Ready to be of service. Hopefully he wouldn't demand too much of your small store.
"You said you knew. So you tell me." He said with a sly smile. You stammered, sweat slicking your palms. "I didnt mean- We have several ah..." You looked away, at the different categories of spellbooks and history of Prythian. Shame fell in your gut at the bottom layers of books that made the stack in the middle of the room.
"I'm looking for a cookbook. One with Illyrian recipes." He stepped to the carpet, his dark socks immaculate against the worn pattern.
"Is the high lord a fan of home made treats?" You laughed at the odd request. Then covered your mouth, the embarrassment turned your ears red. "I'm sorry-" "No, its fine." Cassian chuckled, pulling a book off a shelf. It was of the first war, and was bound in dark leather. "He does. But the book isn't for him. The high ladies sister, actually."
The one of hellfire and stone or the one that seemed to be a ghost? You dared not question him. "A solstice gift?" You asked, showing him over to the small cooking section you had obtained over centuries. They weren't of much use in Illyria, but the few travelers found them fascinating.
"Yes, she's had a rough year." His voice was somber, but the hope still lingered in his eyes.
You let the words sink in. The silence wasn't uncomfortable, his presence was warm and welcoming, actually. As if he was putting off a vibe of 'I'm safe.' You handed him a complete cookbook full of basic recipes and baking. The cover was so worn the title was unreadable. Dark spots stained the inner pages, you knew because you'd borrowed the book several times. "We all have." He flicked through it for a moment, smiling. His teeth were immaculate, and a bit extra pointy on his canines. The sight of them sent a thrill through you.
"I recommend the sweet dough. It's spice free, the only thing you need for it is pine needles and sap." You flicked the pages to one you had bookmarked. The opposite side was full of different types of cakes to make with minimal ingredients.
"I'm too familiar with it." He laughed, shaking his head. Some fond memories from long ago lingered there. He could recall the scent of the bread with full accuracy. The way it the needles would char on top of the dough if there were too many.
"How much do I owe you?" He pinned the leather under his arm and pulled a satchel from his pocket. Your heart raced at the glimpse of so many gold coins there.
"Ah- it'll be Twenty silvers." You said, embarrassment coating your tongue. He didnt even look like he was carrying and silver. He eyed you speculatively. "Twenty silvers for a full book?" He asked. You nodded, trying not to wring your hands. He fished a gold coin from the pouch and held it out to you. "Let me get you some change... it may take a second." You fumbled to the desk where you kept your coin inside a spellbound box.
"Dont worry about it. I'll be back another time." He called, setting the book on the floor to pull on his shoes. "Lord Cas-" You began to protest.
"Just Cassian." He corrected, grunting as he pulled on the boots. "Call it a tab." He winked and eyed the ripped, hole filled curtains of the front window. How they swayed in the breeze that drifted in from the rocks.
"I'll be seeing you." His eyes scanned you, and you nodded. "Be seeing you." You said back, your mouth dry. He was intimidating in the ways you'd never thought of. Not in a scary way, but in a sly way that made your heart race. The bell over his head dinged hollowly as he exited, shoving the book into his backpack. You tried not to stare as he left.
+ The Solstice party was a success as it normally was. Nesta kept to herself in the corner with Amren while everyone else exchanged gifts. Elain's eyes lit up at the book, and she hugged Cassian with heart. "I'll be making you something tomorrow." She promised. Cassian felt the flicker of cold over him and shot Az a look. They glowered at one another.
Rhys leveled a look at both of them that got them to straighten up. Feyre handed out mugs of hot cider. Mor brought around a bottle of liquor to mix with it. The night was warm with friends and joy. Besides the cold corner where Nesta sat. Cassian did his best to ignore it. As did everyone else.
He was nearly the last to leave. The cider had effected him more than he thought. But it warmed his insides against the cold wind of Velaris. He wrapped his wings around himself to shield from the cold. He thought of the librarian who had given him the book. His mind drifted to the rest of that day, how Devlon had even seemed cheerful.
He wondered if you were doing anything, if you had any family celebrating with you. If you had a mate that spoiled you. His heart kicked up at the thought of it. He hadn't noticed a ring...or any tattoos to signify a mating bond. He couldn't recall much else. He had been stunned by the beauty and simplicity of you and your shop. He couldnt remember if you had wings.
The frustration ate at him. He had to know more. He needed to know if you had a good solstice. He made a plan. "It would be good karma" He told himself, entering one of the several shops on the way to the townhome. His excitement made it nearly impossible to sleep that night. + "Happy solstice." A voice called from the front door. You hadn't heard the bell chime.
You rushed to the front, making sure that the carpet hadn't been ruined. The curtains whipped from the wind outside. The enormous Illyrian shut the door with a firm gentleness that made your heart race. His hands wrapped around a small wooden box. Well, it was small in his hands.
"It's the day after solstice. Happy late solstice." You corrected, striding over to him and giving him a look about the shoes. They looked incredibly clean. "You still need to take them off."
"I know. You need to open this first." He forced the box upon you and stooped to begin unlacing the boots. "What-"
"Just open it." He stood and followed you to the counter. Heat flooded your cheeks, you hadn't gotten him anything. Not that you could afford it, or even knew what he would want. "Why did you get this?" You asked, trying to hide the tension in your voice.
"So you dont have to cook that sweetbread again." He said with a grin, staring at you. At how your hands delicately removed the lid from the box. Then at your stunned reaction at the waft of spices that spilled from the box. "Cassian-" You breathed, utterly speechless.
"I have a request too...So you can't say its too much. It's for me too." He went to the shelf where he'd gotten the cookbook for Elain. "Make us these, and we'll call it even."
"Cassian... I'm not a cook. I dont bake." You laughed when he pointed at the spice cakes in the book. "Maybe ask the sister-" You pushed the box toward him, the heaviness of it screamed 'expensive' to you. Guilt marred the joy of receiving the gift.
He pushed it firmly back to you, locking eyes. He noted the way you tensed at that stare. He eased, trying to ignore the scent mixing with the smell of leather and spice. "I want you to make it, using these." He patted the top of the box.
You debated with yourself. The male carried around more gold than you'd ever seen. And he wasn't worried about it. You figured if it was a gift then he genuinely wanted you to have it. You sighed and took the box, placing it under the shelf beside your bag. Your wings pinched at the movement.
You ignored how his eyes lingered on your scarred members. You were used to it from some males, but never one as important and high ranking as him. He shook himself and refocused, pulling himself out of the rage he was feeling at the sight of your ruined wings.
"Any other requests?" You sighed, feigning annoyance. His toothy grin made your stomach do flips.
