Tw: b/p rant
B1nged so bad today I hate myself and this stupid brain of mine 😭😭😭 I finally had a day where my bf had an evening shift and I had nothing to stop me from a whole day of f4sting. And then I got to work and someone had put out a ginormous bowl of candy… and Fridays at primary schools… well let me just say it sometimes feels as if I’m a veterinarian at a zoo where the animals have gotten some sort of crazy virus. And after my first class it was like my brain checked out when I sat down in the staff room and suddenly was stuffing my face in that bowl of hell. After that I felt like a total loser and that all day was ruined and all of that…
Also, due to the situation with my coworker yesterday I got no lesson planning done yesterday as I had planned for, so I had to work over today to plan next week. What does this stupid girl decide to do? Eat like 6(??!!) crisp bread with BUTTER!!!
And apparently that wasn’t enough, she also stopped to get a salad for dinner (no the point of this day was not having to eat any meal at all you stupid ašš)… but yeah no apparently I couldn’t even do that right. Not only did I buy the salad (which might had been at least a little bit okay) but I also got a whole box of raspberries (which is absolutely low c4l and better than most stuff on a low c4l day but as I said before - this was supposed to be a f4sting day which means everything over 5 c4ls is forbidden in my book), and also I was craving salty black licorice and it was a hot day so I wanted ice cream, I looked for a low c4l licorice ice cream but they were all high c4l so I decided to go with a low c4l mango passion. Oh yeah I now remember, I had also already picked up some lentil cakes (like rice cakes but lentil version) to ease my salt craving so I really didn’t even need anything more with salt??? When I finally got to the register they had licorice pastilles right in front of me and I just see my hand reaching for it and putting it on the line. I finished all of these except for the lentil cake where I had like 4(?)
Wait wait wait… it doesn’t end here. I then get home to see I have a lot of cans to recycle and in Sweden you get 1SEK store value card for each can. And since I was on such a loser-roll I was almost obligated to go recycle and get something from the store. Wow when I write it down I actually get nauseated. But yes, this happened and no I didn’t buy just one thing. I got chips AND a chocolate bar AND sweet&salty nuts. I only had like a handful of chips and then threw it away.
So yeah this day was a disaster. I’m now on a long walk and know that I’m in no way going to be able to undo any of this bullshit or even get close to my regular net limit. About half an hour ago I had to stop in the bushes behind a playground and p*rge because I felt like my whole body was about to burst. It was awful and I felt so dirty doing it next to a place where children go to play… thank god it was in the evening so no kids were outside to play. Also I haven’t p*rged on purpose in such a long time and it brought back bad memories from 10ish years ago. Also… when you don’t to it on a regular basis you’re not prepared for it so all I had was 2 Kleenex, half a bottle of water and thankfully some gum. But I seriously had to blow my nose in pads in the end because the Kleenex weren’t enough.
I wish today didn’t exist. I’m such a failure 😭🤯

How to Freeze Marshmallow Cream
You've probably had the astonishing experience of cooking marshmallows on an open fire while setting up camp.
The marshmallow's external layer turns into a brilliant caramelized outside, while within liquefies into a flavorful piece of wizardry.
You could make a container loaded with marshmallow cushion on the off chance that you bundled it up.
This flavorful joy has been brought to you by a splendid money manager, however it is not difficult to make your marshmallow cushion or creme at home.
Be that as it may, when you've eaten the scrumptious treat, there's a major dried up marshmallow shell abandoned.
What's Marshmallow Cushion Or Creme Precisely? what marshmallow cushion or creme precisely
Marshmallow cushion can likewise be known as marshmallow cream.
Cushion is the first brand name, which has stayed a consistent, similar as Kleenex and tissues.
You'll hear marshmallow creme used to depict natively constructed forms of this sweet and tacky mixture.
Marshmallow cushion, mallow creme, marshmallow cushion recipe or marshmallow cream, anything that you call it - this stuff is obviously delectable.
How To Freeze Marshmallow Cushion? step by step instructions for How to Freeze Marshmallow Cream
You can freeze the marshmallow cushion in a tub, very much as is it.
It will not set totally, and you can scoop what you really want out of it without any problem.
In any case, it will in general be more straightforward to work with assuming you freeze individual parts.
This helps keep your part estimates reliable while thawing out too.
Assuming you have a little ice solid shape plate, utilize that to freeze your marshmallow cushion.
At the point when it's frozen, pop them out of the solid shapes and store them in a cooler pack for some other time.
On the off chance that you don't have an ice block plate, you can top off an unfilled margarine tub with the puff and freeze it.
At the point when you're prepared to work with it, hold the cylinder under high temp water for a couple of moments.
The Most effective Way Because of its extremely high sugar content, the puff doesn't freeze like a stone, yet it will freeze to the point of remaining new and giving you heaps of fascinating use choices.
In the event that you have a new, unopened container of marshmallow, you can pop it solidly into the cooler. It's fixed, so it will hold up above and beyond the long haul without the gamble of being presented to air.
Freezing and defrosting marshmallow cushion Be that as it may, assuming you have locally acquired cushion or extra hand crafted marshmallow cream, you have a couple of choices:
Move to an impenetrable cooler safe holder or Ziploc sack. Press out as much air as possible and mark the compartment with the date you frozen it. The fresher you put it in the cooler, the fresher it will taste when you take it out. You shouldn't freeze it for over 90 days, as the flavor will begin to wear off over the long run.
Separate the build up into individual pieces for simple future use. Line a baking sheet with material paper, and afterward you have two choices.
Choice 1: Spread your cream and freeze it. When frozen, cut it into squares and store everything in a water/air proof, cooler safe compartment. They'll remain in individual pieces, and you'll have the option to take out one (or a couple) at a time without thawing the entire bunch.
Choice 2: Line the cream into a channeling sack fitted with an enormous designing tip and make little treat shapes on the material paper. Hold up! Stack cautiously in a water/air proof Tupperware compartment.
Eat the custard frozen or somewhat defrosted for a nougat-like tidbit.
Recall that the cream doesn't have gelatin, so it doesn't solidify like a marshmallow. On the off chance that you let it defrost totally, it will return to a delicate cushion of cream.
The marshmallow creme is extremely light and vaporous and just requires a couple of moments to defrost on the counter. On the off chance that you will heat with it or use it in a treat, you can place it in a bowl and mix it well once defrosted to make it sparkly and luxurious once more.
here is a straightforward and simple recipe.
NOTE : You will require a treats thermometer to make marshmallow creme on the grounds that you really want a genuinely precise temperature to try not to overcook the creme.
Fixings:
¾ C sugar ¾ C corn syrup 1/3 C of water 3 egg whites ½ teaspoon cream of tartar 1 teaspoon vanilla concentrate Directions:
In a little pot over low intensity, add the sugar, corn syrup and water Mix until all around disintegrated Once broke up, turn up the intensity to medium-high and put in the sweets thermometer. You should keep a decent low intensity, yet without bubbling and without frothing Try not to mix! The objective temperature is 240F. Eliminate from heat. Whip the room temperature egg whites, alongside the cream of tartar, with a blender. 3-4 minutes on medium speed ought to give smooth pinnacles On low speed, cautiously add the extremely hot sugar blend Whenever everything is consolidated, speed up back to medium and keep beating for 7+ minutes, or until you notice the blend turning out to be thick and polished. When you have the right surface, add the vanilla and beat to consolidate.
How To Defrost Marshmallow Cushion? the most effective method to defrost marshmallow cushion
Contingent upon your time period for utilizing your marshmallow cushion, you ought to design likewise for how and when to defrost it.
On the off chance that you're making a couple of sweets and need the puff now, ideally, let's thaw out little bunches in the cooler short-term.
On the off chance that you have somewhat in front of yourself with recipe arranging and have a custom made marshmallow cushion prepared to utilize, yet not sufficient opportunity to go through everything in the recipe, you can eliminate it from the cooler and microwave it.
How to Utilize Marshmallow Cushion? the most effective method to utilize marshmallow cushion
Marshmallow cushion can be utilized in endless recipes to add a sweet, light surface and flavor.
Marshmallow creme works best when you blend it in with different fixings.
It's very thick all alone and will feel more like icing than marshmallows in your mouth.
Could marshmallows at any point be frozen? Marshmallows freeze impeccably, because of their high sugar content. At the point when you've opened a sack of marshmallows, void the remaining parts into a cooler safe Ziploc brand pack.
Compose the date on the pack and seal it. Eliminate as much air as possible without squashing every one of the marshmallows. In the event that you truly like flawlessness, you can organize the marshmallows in a solitary line on a treat sheet and speedy freeze.
When they are strong, you can place them all in a Ziploc pack and eliminate the air. They won't stick or crush and will remain new for around 90 days.
fill in for marshmallow? Indeed, you can substitute marshmallow creme for marshmallows, yet you'll have to liquefy them first. In a twofold kettle, add around 16 enormous marshmallows for every 1 cup of marshmallow creme.
Most recipes don't expect you to be careful, yet somewhat more never harmed anybody. The primary distinction is that marshmallows have gelatin, which can make your recipe surprisingly extreme.

⏤ It was one of the days when she had time for herself, which is rare. She had issues with back to sleep since she works at night. Per usual, she was eating her ice cream, vanilla. Her favorite flavor. And her gaze was lost on the other showcase before. Tiffany's. Elizabeth enjoys seeing beautiful jewelry pieces or visiting showcases of fancy designers.
The ice cream was almost melted in her hand when her mind drifted away, to take the beauty of the pearl necklace, wondering how it was well made, step by step… So her tongue wrapped on the tip of ice cream where it was melting until… A voice brought back to reality, and she turned her face to Asa. ❛ Sure! ❜ She frowned and then she back to the position she was in seconds prior. It made her think about the time she posed for a few artists who made a painting of her. ❛ But I will eat this ice cream, 'kay? I don't want to get so dirty. My Kleenex is over. ❜

He probably shouldn’t be drawing a random person on the street, but he’s found it’s often how he gets better at drawing quickly. Gestural and simple, because the person may slip away at just about any moment.
So when she begins to move right as he’s drawing her legs… he curses under his breath, then realizes how that might sound. “Oh- sorry! I’m just. I was doing a gesture drawing of you? Which I promise isn't as creepy as it sounds... could you stay in that position for even just a second longer? Promise you can see it after!” He adds apologetically, brushing back messy raven hair.

broken promises

note: i hope you have the box of kleenex and a tub of ice cream i asked you to bring, because shit’s about to get real !!
how does one narrate a well-structured story when your life has been an absolute mess? well, i guess you could start from the night you met him.
take me back to the night we met.
it was rather unusual to see an upcoming sixth year amongst the flock of first years. you were studying at hogwarts for the first time, and you were quite glad that your dad, also known as the infamous sirius black, finally let you move in with him in 12 grimmauld place, as he claimed to finally have his life together.
you were formerly from the states. moving in with your aunt (a cousin of your father’s), and studying in ilvermorny as soon as you turned 11, explaining the prominent american accent amongst the british ones.
as soon as the sorting hat decided which house you would be in, professor mcgonagall, an elderly witch in long green robes and a pointed hat, told you to meet her at the deputy headmistress’s office after the feast.
you wished that you'd asked where the office was because now you were getting lost within the numerous hallways, stairs, and rooms of hogwarts. you knew how huge this school was, but you didn’t expect it to be too enormous to get lost in.
you were currently passing by a hallway full of paintings who were having an animated chat with one another. you let yourself smile softly, admiring the magic between the hallways. some of them greeted you, which you gladly returned.
you were about to take a turn in the hallway to your left when someone suddenly yelled, “hey, wait, no!”
“wha-?” but you were too late, as soon as you stepped foot in that corridor, you were immediately drenched in orange and purple slime.
too shocked to move, you stood there frozen. the guy who yelled, stood frozen as well, grimacing as you carefully wiped the slime off your face.
fred closed his eyes in mortification, expecting you to be mad. he anticipated yelling or scolding, and maybe even if you considered beating him to the pulp. when it didn’t come, he peeked an eye out open to see you levitating the slime off your body, and before he even knew it, he, too, was drenched in slime.
you laughed, and he swore he never heard anything so angelic until he got a fleeting speck of it. he didn’t even mind the slime dripping off him when he finally got to see a proper look at you. if he was going to be honest, he never really paid attention to the sorting ceremony. he and george have been talking about all the pranks they’re planning to pull, so this was the first time he caught the sight of you, and oh sweet baby merlin, he thought, you were stunning.
he snapped out of his trance when you decided to speak up, “so, is this some sort of welcoming tradition for the new-comers?”
“oh, only for the ravishing ones,” he smirked, giving himself a mental pat on the back for immediately coming up with the witty one-liner.
you rolled your eyes, fixing your brand new y/h robes. fred looked at you with curiosity, “what are you doing here, anyway? students don’t normally roam around here, most especially newbies. that’s why i waited for good ol’ filch whereas george was grabbing the dung bombs,” realizing that you probably had no idea who filch or george was, he stopped talking, giving you some room to talk.
“ah, well-”
“miss black! there you are, i had to question a few students and paintings about your whereabouts. th—“ she stopped speaking, glancing at the redhead behind me, “mr. weasley! what- what is the meaning of this? why are you drenched in goop?”
fred grinned, sending a wink your way, “that’s my cue! see ya ‘round, gorgeous. oh, and you, too, minnie!”
you and the deputy headmistress stared at his retreating figure with amusement. professor mcgonagall led you to her office and let you choose from the various optional classes and introduced you to a student who’ll give you a tour around the obsolete castle.
our friendship will never die, you're gonna see it's our destiny.
it has been two days since that fateful night when you met a certain redhead. you were trying to recall the directions towards the charms classroom when someone ran past you, harshly bumping your shoulder, and consequently making you drop your things. a distant yelp from behind you was heard, “oi! george, you prat!”
“godric, ’m sorry, didn’t notice you,” he said, picking up your fallen books and pouch of quills and ink. you looked up and recognized the fiery red hair and deep brown eyes.
“y’know, i should really anticipate the day when we’ll run into each other without you dousing me in slime or bumping into me when you're running away from someone,” you laughed, taking the books from him as you stood up with your pouch in hand.
“what d'you mean?” he tilted his head, evident confusion occupying his face.
you observed him, seeing if this is some kind of joke that he was playing. when you’ve seen no mischief swimming in his eyes or a smirk, you knew he was serious.
“oh, come on, weasley. i don’t reckon getting drenched in slime would be effortlessly forgettable,” you asked.
“i remember you, just not when you were, erm, drenched in slime. i saw you at the sorting ceremony. padfoot's daughter, yeah?” he said, rubbing the back of his neck. he rummaged through his head for where he could’ve possibly seen you. he felt bad that he didn’t know what you were talking about.
you sort of thought you left an impression. well, seeing as you were a victim in one of his pranks. “well, yeah, that, too, but i was talking about when i was in a hallway you claimed was deserted? then professor mcgonagall found us? no?”
he frowned, but just as his lips turned downwards, he started chuckling. weird.
“what’s so funny?”
“we haven’t particularly met.”
“what d’you mean? i’m rather sure that i wasn’t dreaming when that happened,”
he laughed, running a hand through his hair, “don’t worry, you weren’t,”
you were confused, to say the least, but then another voice from behind you spoke up, “that’s because it was me who you met that crucial night, goop,”
you looked up at him just in time as he swung an arm around your shoulder. you looked back between the guy who bumped into you and the guy who drenched you in slime.
back and forth.
forth and back.
red hair. red hair.
twin. twin.
“oh. OH!” you exclaimed, “twins! oh, merlin, this is embarrassing,” you laughed sheepishly. of course, that just had to happen.
they both laughed along with you. fred removed his hold on you and stood beside his twin, “yes, twins.”
george chuckled, offering you his hand to shake, “‘m george weasley, the bloke who drenched you in slime’s twin, and i sure won’t be forgetting about you now.”
i chuckled, shaking your head, “would you two be so nice and show me the way to charms? ‘ve got a few more minutes before classes start,”
“‘course, we’ve got nothing better to do than escort a pretty girl to her class, anyway,” fred, at least you thought it was fred, winked at you, making you huff amusingly.
the three of you walked together towards the desired destination as they, too, had charms, when curiosity got the best of you and asked, “hey george?”
he looked down at you, blame the evident height differences. “yeah?”
“why were you even running away a while ago?”
his eyes widened and fred smirked, taking his frozen state as an opportunity to smack his head, “tosspot left me with snape when he caught us, he got to run away whilst i got a weeks worth of detention,”
you snorted, “first rule of pranking is you don’t get caught, and here i thought you two were experts,”
“oh we are, darling! snape’s just timed well-- greasy prat’s been waiting for the chance to punish us.”
“well, if you’d let me, i’d be willing to be an apprentice for this little mischievous escapade of yours,” you offered, smiling as they both looked at each other with compelled looks.
“alright, freddie? reckon this is a start of a revolutionary friendship,”
“a start of a revolutionary friendship, indeed, georgie.”
“well, now that we’ve established our apprenticeship, ‘tis lovely to meet you both, i’m y/n black.” you smiled, taking each of their hands. they grinned mischievously, “glad to have you with us, miss black,” and before you knew it, they dragged you to the classroom by your arms.
each night i ask the stars up above, why must i be a teenager in love?
“you fancy him, don’t you?” you shifted your gaze away from fred and glanced at george, who was looking at you with a pointed look.
you knew that you could trust george, he’s your best friend, and you are his. you knew that he wouldn’t tell a soul, even fred, despite him being his twin.
you sighed, “yeah, yeah, i do,”
he nodded, a thoughtful look on his face, “do you ever plan on telling him?”
“no. it’s obvious that he doesn’t like me back. he sees me as his best friend and i certainly don’t want to ruin our dynamics, george.” you whispered as you saw fred making his way towards the both of you.
“what’re the two of you whispering about?” fred whispered, moving his head in between you and george.
you smiled, “fred. but don’t tell him that! we don’t want to feed his egotistical attitude if he ever finds out,”
“oh? well, why’re you talking about,” he looks at his surroundings as if he didn’t want anyone to hear, “fred?”
“we were debating whether he’s the most handsome twin, or if it’s george.”
“and who’d you say?”
“george, of course,”
fred gasped dramatically, earning a harsh glare from madam pince, “you wound me, woman! how could i possibly live with the betrayal?”
you giggled silently, scared that madam pince might consider giving you her wrath, “sit down, you wanker, madam pince might kick us out again.”
“are you actually scared of the librarian?” george chuckled.
you look at him with wide eyes, “how’re you not? if looks could kill, she’d give he who must not be named a run for his money!”
“SHHH!” speak of the devil. you cowered away in between the twins as they made fun of you.
“it isn’t funny!” you whispered, tilting your head so your hair curtained your face.
“i don’t know, goop, it’s quite hilarious,” george continued snickering. ‘goop’ has been their nickname for you ever since your first encounter with fred, it was supposed to be a one-time thing, the nickname, but they sort of just stuck with it.
fred cooed, “aww, don’t worry that pretty little head of yours, i’ll— georgie and i will protect you from pince’s frenzy,”
you rolled your eyes trying to express irritation, but the smile on your lips have betrayed you. you were about to respond when you’ve been interrupted by a couple of giggling second-year girls.
the three of you snapped your heads towards them, confused.
“s’there anything you’d like to share, ladies?” fred asked, wiggling his eyebrows, making them giggle more. you and george shared a glance and smiled.
the three of them looked at you, making you dumbfounded, “is he your boyfriend?”
your eyes widened in surprise, but you decided to play along and joke, “which one?”
they giggled, pointing at fred.
you both looked at each other with raised eyebrows and small smiles.
“yes.”
“no.”
you looked at each other once more, you with a mix of stun and disbelief, fred had a huge grin on his face. and george? george just rolled his eyes, displeased with the obliviousness of his best friend and twin who clearly got the hots for each other.
“we’d make such a cute couple, no?” fred asked, throwing an arm around your shoulder.
you looked at the girls and gave them a wink, “hmm, i don’t know… i’m not particularly fond of having ginger babies.” they giggled. gee, what was wrong with them and giggling?
he rolled his eyes and leaned forward, gesturing for the second years to come closer. fred smiled at them and whispered, “i’m not her boyfriend, i’m her husband,” they gasped, grabbing your attention, you tried to make out what he was saying but to no avail.
“yeah, we’re married, and now you better start calling her mrs. weasley whenever you see her, yeah?” fred grinned mischievously before leaning back to his chair. you looked at him in suspicion, but he paid you no mind as he opened up a book that you both know he won’t read.
you shook your head, checking your watch for the time, “i better get going, i promised to help hermione with differentiating runes,” you kissed the cheek of both boys, but lingering a bit with fred. when you pulled back, you waved at the girls.
they giddily waved back and said, “goodbye! see you around, mrs. weasley!”
you stopped in your tracks, slowly turning around to glare at the sniggering twins. you scoffed, turning back around and leaving the library, avoiding the gaze of the frightening librarian. as soon as you were out of sight, you let out a chuckle, feeling your cheeks heat up.
fred watched you gradually get smaller as you left the library. he would be lying if he said that he didn’t wish to be in a relationship with you, but he didn’t want to make a move— afraid that you’ll reject him and your friendship would be broken. he adores your friendship too much to risk it.
george watched as his brother stared at your retreating figure with love and longing. he shooed away the girls so that he could talk to him without any disturbances.
he repeated the question he asked you moments before fred arrived, “you fancy her, don’t you?”
he snapped his gaze to his brother, eyes wide and brows raised, “huh?”
“y/n. d’you fancy her?” he repeated, this time facing his parchment to continue writing the order forms.
“why? do you?”
“no. now, answer my question.”
fred sighed, “i’m head over heels for her, georgie,”
george just smiled at his brother, mentally counting all the galleons he’ll be able to receive within the month— he knew you’d get together sooner or later, but george definitely wished it‘d be sooner because he doesn’t really fancy losing tons of galleons.
we used to steal your parents' liquor, and climb to the roof. talk about our future, like we had a clue.
after weeks of pining after each other, and a very satisfied (and a few galleons richer) george later, you can finally say that fredrick gideon weasley was now your boyfriend. all you had to do now is to tell your father.
the weasleys were staying over at 12 grimmauld place for the holidays, much to yours and fred’s pleasure.
the ‘adults’ (they still didn’t want you and the twins to join despite your age legality) were still having the meeting and it was quite late. you just had to wait till everyone was sound asleep before sneaking out of your room and wait for fred in the lounge.
once you’ve heard the satisfying shut of each door, you quietly tiptoed around your room with your fluffy socks on, determined not to wake ginny and hermione up.
once you opened the door, you were met with the sound of another door opening. you froze, hastily thinking of some sort of excuse as to why you were still awake.
you didn’t see nor hear any signs of movement so you peeked your head a bit, and saw fred doing the same. you quietly giggled, carefully shutting the door as you made your way to fred.
“hi goop, missed you,” fred mumbled, fuzzing his head in the crook of your neck.
you laughed silently, “fred, we just saw each other three hours ago.”
“i know, but that was too long. it felt like forever,” he smiled, “now, c’mon, we need to celebrate,”
“celebrate? for what?”
“for successfully sneaking out, of course,” he said, steering you around the house, hand in hand. “now, d’you reckon your dad has a stash of fire whiskey somewhere?”
you hummed, removing the hold of his hand and rummaged through the kitchen's cupboards, “aha! there y’are,”
fred turned his gaze towards you as you shook the whiskey in his face, “let’s go,”
he grabbed the shot glasses and a blanket that was laying around in the couch before letting you drag him away.
“c’mon, freddie,” you whispered, slowly opening the attic ladder, hoping that kreacher was nowhere to be seen.
you both went in, careful not to step on any creaking floorboards. when you reached the window you opened it and handed the whiskey to fred, “give me a minute,”
“be careful!” he exclaimed, nervously watching you climb over the ledge.
“always am,” you winked before raising yourself and onto the roof, “give me that and climb,”
fred did so, and as soon as the both of you were up there, he threw the thick blanket over the both of you, and cuddled with each other.
a couple of shots later, the both of you were giggling, talking about all the pranks you’ve managed to pull through the years you’ve been in hogwarts. the laughter soon died down and the sounds of breathing, the wind, and the engines of the muggle vehicles were the only things that were heard.
“do… do you ever think about the future?” fred asked. you stared at him, he wasn’t looking at you though, he was gazing at the twinkling stars up above.
“yeah… they mostly contain you, though,” you whispered, placing your head on his chest as he pulled you closer.
“yeah?”
“yeah.”
“me, too,” he smiled, kissing your forehead.
you sat up and kissed his nose, “c’mon, red, reckon we’ve had too much to drink,”
the both of you packed up everything you’ve used, carefully made your way down, kept the firewhiskey, and washed the glasses. too tired and drunk to go to bed, the both of you retired on the couch, sleeping in each other’s arms.
as soon as the sun crept up through the window blinds, you groaned, rubbing your eyes to get rid of the sleep. once you’ve gotten used to the blinding light, you looked up and smiled at your sleeping redhead.
you slowly slipped out of his grasp, kissed his forehead, and walked towards the drawers to look for painkillers. you haven’t even drunk that much.
fred woke up a little while later after feeling the warmth of your body heat disappear, he yawned quietly, taking in his surroundings and remembered what happened last night. he was quite giddy, to say the least. he has been after hearing that you thought of having a future with him.
he stood up and saw you at the kitchens, drinking a glass of water. he made his way towards you and slipped his arms around you, hugging from behind.
“g’morning, love,” his morning voice still never fails to make you flustered.
“morning, freddie,” you smiled. he moved around you and grabbed a cup of water for himself. as soon as he made sure his morning breath was out of the way, he smiled at you, “it’s nice that your voice was the first thing i heard today.”
he leaned against the counter as you wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him in for a kiss.
fred gladly complied, wrapping his arms around your waist, pulling you closer. you slowly bit his bottom lip, emitting a low groan from him.
sirius just woke up and was desperately in need of a cup of black coffee, no pun intended, he chuckled. he grabbed his hair brush from his vanity, brushing his tousled hair as he silently went down, careful not to wake anyone up.
as soon as he entered the kitchen, he was met with the sight of the weasley boy groping his daughter’s arse. his hand stopped mid-brush.
“get your hands off my daughter, weasley!” he growled, making his way towards the poor bloke.
the both of you immediately jumped away from each other, eyes wide. this isn’t how he’s supposed to find out!
fred was scared shitless, if he might say, so he carefully backed away as sirius approached him like a predator.
fred ran. yes, ran. and sirius? he chased him around the kitchen with his hair brush in hand.
“‘m sorry, sirius, don’t kill me,”
“how dare you come into my house and snog my daughter!”
“no, sirius, ‘m sorry!”
“then you strut around and grope her arse like that,”
“sirius! said ‘m sorry, put the hair brush down!”
“didn’t molly teach you any manners?!”
“she did, she did, she’s a wonderful mother. sirius, no!”
in other times, you would’ve stopped the chaos whilst sirius, who was still in his dog-printed pajamas, chased a very pale fred around the kitchen with a hair brush.
but you didn’t, so you were laughing your arse off. you wouldn’t want to miss the chance to laugh your arse out with what’s happening. you knew your dad was a sweetheart, he wouldn’t actually kill fred, right? … right?
soon, every member of the order and the children, frantically went down with their wands drawn out, looking around for trouble, but they, instead of seeing any death-eater related attacks, saw a very angry padfoot manhunting a 6’3 ginger twin with a harmless hair brush, and a wheezing y/n.
“mum, hide me! he’s gonna murder me with a brush!” fred immediately took cover behind his mother. she and the other adults sighed exasperatedly but smiling nonetheless.
“thought someone was getting tortured with how freddie was screaming bloody murder,” george snickered.
“get out here and face me like a man, fredrick!” sirius growled, but stopped a bit and asked, “or is it george?”
fred cowered away behind his mum, “george, george! ‘tis definitely ‘im!”
george’s eyes widened and yelped, “‘m george! he’s fred!”
“dad! stop that, fred and i are dating,” you said, wiping your tears away.
sirius was taken aback, lowering his weapon, “what?”
“we were supposed to tell you today, but i guess you were just too eager,” you teased him, making your way towards fred and intertwining your hands together. fred looked slightly hesitant but smiled sheepishly at your father.
sirius just squinted his eyes at fred, racking over the tall redhead, “you better watch your behavior, boy, or you might as well just sleep with an eye open.”
you knew your dad loved fred, he’s been asking about him the moment you’ve told him about your blooming friendship and the pranking adventures you have had. he admires the bloke, fred reminds him of his younger self, minus the playboy endeavors and the family issues. he approves of the boy, but that doesn’t mean he fancies waking up to him snogging his daughter.
sirius slowly approached fred, opening his arms for a hug, but fred flinched, making everyone laugh. when he realized what sirius was trying to do, he laughed nervously, hugging him back and awkwardly patting his back. he was about to pull away when sirius tugged him back in and whispered, “i’m serious, fred. one wrong move, and i’ll be damned to be back in azkaban,”
fred shuddered slightly, but nodded nonetheless, “i’ll never hurt her, sirius, she means the world to me.” he smiled, both of them looking at you as you laughed with george and remus, retelling them what happened.
i don't promise a lot, but i'm keeping my word.
it has been at least a year and a few months since your father has passed, and fred has been with you through it all. you were spending your holidays at the burrow with the rest of the weasleys (plus harry, remus, and tonks).
you were currently in the living room, gossiping about boys (well, you were talking about fred) and the latest scandals in hogwarts with ginny.
“gin, i mean, have you seen the way harry’s been looking at you during dinner?” you asked, watching as her face grew red.
“he has not! ‘m convinced that you inhaled too much of fred’s perfume to be talking ‘bout something as poxy as that, y/n.” she laughed, fiddling with her sleeping robes.
“can you blame me? he smells so good. now, don’t tell me you haven’t had a sniff of thou chosen one’s essence?” you giggled, “c’mon gin! the both of you are meant to be, you’re soulmates, a stubborn one, at that.”
“we’re not, y/n! you and fred’re the proper definition of soulmates,”
you smiled softly, “it’ll take time, ginny. i can see the way he looks at you, it’s the same way i look at your brother,”
she sighed, “let’s just hope you’re right,”
“i’m always right,” you joked, waving at fred as he made his way towards the both of you.
“what’re my lovely girlfriend and sister talking about?” he smiled, kissing your cheek.
“soulmates,” ginny shrugged, looking away from harry.
“soulmates? what a load of bollocks,” fred’s face twisted in disgust, before whispering in your ear, “we’re definitely soulmates though,”
your face started to heat up and you couldn’t stop the smile spreading across your face, “yeah?”
“yeah,” he pecked your lips, throwing an arm around your shoulder and turning to ginny, “yeah!”
“i reckon he’ll marry you on the spot if he can,” she rolled her eyes, smiling as well since she heard what fred said.
“oh i would’ve done it the moment she drenched me in slime, but it has to be special, y’know?” he said, peppering your face with kisses, “flowers, confetti, diamond ring, grand gestures, all that sort.”
“freddie, i’ll marry you even if you propose with a toy ring,” you beamed up at him, kissing his nose, “because i’ll love you forever and always.”
“i’ll love you forever and always, too, goop,” he said, looking at you with pure love and adoration, “and that’s a promise.”
i'll say, "will you marry me?", i swear that i will mean it.
and fred did mean it as you’ve been together for four years now and counting.
“we’re in this together, goop,” he said, which leads to where you are now, fighting off the death eaters and co, side-by-side.
“stupefy!” you shouted, knocking off the death eater charging towards percy.
“thanks,” he breathed out, you nodded, “no problem.”
“incendio!”
“ascendio!”
“incarcerous!”
“stupefy!”
“petrificus totalus!”
you saw fred and percy handling a group of death eaters beside you as you finished off one, but what edged you off was one of them raised their wand, but it wasn’t pointing at any one of you. it was pointing at something behind you, you looked back just in time as he yelled the spell.
“fred!” you pushed him, mustering up all your strength to bring you along as the wall from behind you collapsed.
you coughed, “stupefy!” successfully throwing back the man.
you detach yourself from fred, “fred, fred?” you patted his cheeks, he was still breathing.
“c’mon darling, you have to wake up,” you cried, looking up for a bit as percy kept the remaining death eaters distracted.
“marry me,” fred whispered
you let out a breath of relief as you looked down, “w-what?” you wiped off the dust in his face.
“marry me,” he said more clearly, slowly sitting up to cup your face.
you slapped his arm, “you could’ve gotten yourself killed, you numpty!”
“but… i didn’t?” he yelped, rubbing his arm to soothe the pain, “not the answer that i was expecting but, alright,”
“marry me, y/n,” he kneeled down on one knee, grasping your hands, “i know that this isn’t exactly the proposal i’ve had in mind, hell, i don’t even have the ring, but i love you ‘till the ends of the earth and i’m asking you once again, y/n black. will you do the honors of being my future wife?”
you cried, nodding your head as you didn’t trust yourself to speak up. you pulled him in a hug as you sobbed against your shoulder, “i love you, too, fred, forever and always,”
he kissed you, he kissed you like it was the last thing he’ll ever get to do.
“erm, guys, i’m terribly happy for the both of you, and i hate to say this but we’re in the middle of a war!” percy warned.
“c’mon, goop, we’ve got a war to win,” fred kissed you one last time before the both of you ran off to help percy.
and i realized, no, we're not promised tomorrow.
they said that a couple’s wedding day is bound to be the best day of their lives. a new chapter to write. a new door to open. a new voyage to venture. tons of possibilities.
you were standing in front of a length-view mirror, admiring yourself in the reflection. you were wearing the wedding dress of your dreams, your hair was styled into a sophisticated up-do, and your makeup was elegant.
“hey, sis-in-law, you ready?” george peeked his head through the door, “wow, i-”
“hi george,” you smiled, wiping off the tears gathering in your eyes, “oh, merlin,”
“freddie’s gonna go bonkers,” he hugged you, pulling back to admire you once again, “c’mon.”
you and fred granted george to be his best man and the one who’ll walk you across the aisle, and for the first time in your six years of friendship, you swore you never saw him hug you so tight with tears in his eyes.
as soon as you arrived in front of the closed archway, george stopped to look at you, “you sure you don’t want to back out, goop? fred farts in his sleep sometimes. ‘ve got the keys of the flying ford anglia in case you ever need an escape plan,” he joked.
you giggled, “i think i can handle a farting fred, georgie. i’ve been your best friend for too long, you’ll never know how much i’ve been through,”
he chuckled, “if that’s the case, then let’s go get you and loverboy officially married,”
as soon as the door’s been opened, you suck in a breath, awestruck with how the decorations were perfect— all thanks to molly’s orders and hermione’s organizing, guests in their assigned seats, and most especially, your husband-to-be clad in a black and white tuxedo, tears gathering in his eyes. everything was so magical.
you were expecting that today would be the happiest day of your life, you were expecting to exchange your detailed vows with fred, you were expecting for the long-awaited “i do’s”, you were expecting to seal the deal with a kiss, you were expecting to have a wedding ring as an eternal promise displayed on your left ring finger, you were expecting to listen to george’s embarrassing stories of you newlyweds, you were expecting to start your future with fred.
what you didn’t expect though? was that as soon as george gave you away, as soon as you were standing in front of him, fred apologized and ran away, tugging at his tie.
your smile disappeared.
the guests gasped, turning their attention to you as ron and arthur chased after him. tears started to pool in your eyes, releasing a shaky breath. you hardly noticed that the guests were anticipating your reaction or that the weasleys were ushering them into the venue where the reception was supposed to be. you were just staring at the place where fred once stood, expecting him to come back and say that it was all a prank.
but he didn’t, and that’s what broke you the most.
you collapsed on the floor, sobbing on george’s shoulder as he whispered some comforting words.
you’ve waited, and waited, and waited.
you sat on the step board, still in your wedding dress, tear-stained face, and messy hair. george offered some company, just sitting beside you as you stayed silent, rubbing your back soothingly as the guests bid you goodbye with sad smiles.
george was mad. no, that was an understatement, he was fuming. he knew how much fred loved you. he knew all the plans he had in store for the both of you. he knew all the words fred will say in his vows. what changed?
as soon as everyone had cleared out, you refused to leave from where you were. you refused the food they gave you, or the clothes to change into. you were positive that fred would come back. he promised.
“c’mon, y/n, please, let’s just get you home,” george said, offering you his hand.
“no, i-i’ll stay, george,” you said, your voice cracking, “i’ll wait for him, he’ll come back. he can never do this to me, he wouldn’t.”
but you were wrong. he never came back. he broke his promise.
by the time the clock struck 7, george have had enough of your stubbornness. he understood how you felt, of course, but he didn’t want his best friend to wait all night for someone he knew wouldn’t come back.
so the both of you walked, he shrugged off his suit jacket and wrapped it around your shoulders. you didn’t want to come back to the burrow, but you had to pick up your godson and be on your way. you didn’t see fred there either. you ignored everyone and all their pitying stares. you didn’t even hug molly back when she wanted to comfort you.
you just carefully detached yourself from her, grabbed your godson, and went out. you and george were walking in silence as he carried the boy, walking the both of you towards the apparition point.
george sighed, he knew he wouldn’t be seeing you for a while, and he wanted to give you some space, so brought the sleeping kid to your hold and kissed your forehead, “owl me whenever you need me, yeah?”
you forced a sad smile, “thanks georgie, i’ll see you around,” and apparated away to 12 grimmauld place.
you said you'll grow old with me.
“uncle georgie!!” teddy, your godson, immediately abandoned his coloring book and leaped in the arms of george.
“hey, little man!” he laughed, watching as teddy’s hair turned into the same shade of red as his. it always happens ever since he decided that george was his favorite uncle (don’t tell harry!), and he’ll never change it to his original hair color until the next day.
you smiled, placing your cup of coffee down to greet your best friend, “hey, george,” you kissed his cheek.
“‘m just checkin’ in, how’re the both of you?” he asked, ruffling teddy’s red hair.
“good! mum—“ he stopped, “erm, i mean, auntie y/n will finally bring me to di-gonley later!”
your heart stopped for a moment when he called you ‘mum’. this hasn’t been the first time that it happened, he usually gets too preoccupied to notice, but you never mentioned it nor talked to him about it as he still missed his biological mother. “it’s diagon alley, lovey, and yes, we’ll be leaving in a few,”
you walked away from them and grabbed your purse, “go ask uncle georgie if he wants to come join.”
he beamed, grabbing george’s hands, “can you please come with us, uncle georgie? please, please, please?”
george sent him a faux look of contemplation, “hmm, i don’t know, teddy. d’you think auntie y/n will buy us some ice cream?”
teddy gasped, and wobbled his way to you, “auntie y/n! will you buy us some ice cream? uncle georgie said he’ll join if you do!”
you playfully glared at george, making him chuckle, before returning your gaze to teddy lupin, whose face was now in what you’ll describe as his, ‘i’m-a-very-adorable-boy-please-give-in’.
“oh, alright, let uncle georgie help you wear your shoes,”
as soon as the three of you were good to go, you floo’ed your way to diagon alley. you never apparated when you were with teddy, he usually gets sick when you do, so you had to fixate a floo network in your muggle flat. it was an incredible hassle, especially with muggle neighbors. you had to use multiple silencing spells while the wizards in charge were doing it.
it’s been a while since you’ve been to diagon alley, you’ve avoided it at all costs, especially after… that … anyways, teddy has been seriously adamant on going ever since george told him all about it and his shop.
you knew that you couldn’t fend it (and him) off forever, so after mustering up every courage you had, you agreed. you reckon that it was worth it, seeing your godson, the boy who made your life full of hope and happiness again, incredibly bubbly and cheerful, it eased your nerves a bit.
fred knew that his twin was off to go somewhere. george always tells him, but he never mentions where he’s going or who he’s meeting, just that he had places to be. so to busy himself, he went to florean fortescue’s ice cream parlor to cool off.
while waiting for your order of three cones of ice cream, george offered to bring teddy to flourish and bott’s since he knew how much teddy loves coloring books and bedtime storybooks.
once fred passed by the street, he opened the entrance with a satisfying ring of the welcoming bell. he breathed in the sweet smell of the countless flavors of ice cream. he scanned through the shop for a place to sit when it suddenly stopped at the sight of a familiar h/c. he froze, no, it couldn’t be, right?
“three servings of ice cream supreme for y/n!” the man hollered.
no…
you stood up and made your way towards the front, and fred had gotten a glimpse of you. you looked gorgeous, you always were, fred thought. you were using a hairband, something you used to despise as it always hurt the back of your ears, doing its job to keep your hair away from your face.
you took your order just in time to see your companions for the day, oblivious to the stare of another certain ginger.
“mum! uncle georgie bought me a new book! ‘tis about dragons!” a tiny redhead exclaimed with glee.
fred felt his heart drop, ‘mum’? ‘uncle georgie’? red hair…? again, it couldn’t be, right?
“edward remus! lower your voice, darling,” you chuckled, setting your ice creams down on your table.
“oops, sorry,” he apologized sheepishly, covering his mouth.
before you could even reply, a voice from behind you has spoken up, “erm, y/n?”
your breath hitched in your throat. “no,” you whispered.
george grimaced, grabbing your ice creams and a very confused teddy’s hand, “we’ll be at the shop if you want to leave,” he whispered to you before leaving the both of you alone (minus the parlor’s customers and employees).
you frowned, following them out, and steered away from your ex-fiancé.
“y/n, wait!” fred followed you out and grabbed your hand.
you whipped around to face him, pulling your hand away from his hold, tears pooling in your eyes, “what do you want, fred?”
“was that your kid?” he asked casually, trying to hide his nervousness.
“no- he’s teddy, lupin and tonks’ kid, i’m his godmother. he forgets that i’m not his biological mum sometimes, and if you were wondering why his hair was red, it’s because he loves george.” you said, “now, ‘m gonna ask you again, fred, what. do. you. want?”
“i- i just wanted to talk,” he mumbled, looking down at his shiny shoes to refrain from looking at your crestfallen expression.
“seriously, fred? you want to talk?” you scoffed in disbelief, “alright, let’s talk, let’s talk about how you left me, let’s talk about how you broke your promise, let’s talk about how you broke me,”
fred winced at your wavering voice, “‘m sorry, darling,”
“are you really, fred? because- because it’s been almost two years and you—“ you sighed, wiping away your tears to no avail, it’s still falling. instead, you asked him the question that’s been on your mind ever since, “why did you leave me?”
“i was scared,” he started, cracking his knuckles. a mannerism of his when he’s feeling anxious.
“scared of what exactly?” you urged, determined to know what he was so afraid of that he had to run away on your wedding day.
“of you…” he mumbled, looking up at you. he wished he hadn’t because he didn’t know it was possible for you to look even broken than before.
“me?” your voice cracked, “so it’s my fault, now?”
fred shook his head, getting frustrated at himself, “no, no. i was scared that, if you married me, you’d get hurt because i might not live up to your expectations.”
“bullshit, fred!” you cried, earning a few looks from the bystanders, you didn’t care, and nor did fred, “why? don’t you think i’m getting hurt right now?”
fred felt his tears in his eyes, “i’ve had so many doubts, so many questions, y/n,” you were about to reply when he raised hand, “and no, it wasn’t about you, just please, listen,”
he sucked in a breath, “y/n, what if i said yes?”
“we would’ve been happy, we wouldn’t be here in the first place,” you whimpered, feeling the heartbreak you’ve once experienced over and over again, “did you even really love me?”
“i did, i still do, but you deserve so much better than me, y/n” fred whispered, running a hand through his hair as he looked at you again.
you shook your head, “stop lying, fred."
“no, y/n! what if i said yes and i wouldn’t be able to keep my vows?”
“well, fred, you didn’t even get to marry me and you already broke the promise! now, tell me, did that answer your questions?” you asked, “did it, fred?”
fred let a tear fall, “no, no it didn’t. it just made me realize how hard it was to lose you,”
you sniffled, staring up at the sky to keep the tears in bay, “i loved you, fred! i loved you and you left me. i loved you… and i still do, and i hate myself for it because no matter how hard i try to convince myself that i’ve moved on, i haven’t. fred, i still look for you in everyone in hopes that i could somehow get some closure… and it doesn’t help that i see you in everything as well; i remember you when i see a plate of pancakes, knowing how you love them with chocolate, i remember you when it rains because we used to dance around in it like there’s no one around. it hurts, freddie. it hurts because i see you everywhere because we used to do everything together.”
“and i regret it, alright? i regret letting you go. it has been eating me alive ever since. i couldn’t function well without you,” he whispered, “and all i’m asking is for forgiveness, y/n.”
you just stared at him, hiccuping as you continued to cry. you wanted to leap into his warm embrace and forgive him. you wanted to take him back. you wanted to kiss him. you just wanted to be in his arms again. you just wanted to be with him again.
but he hurt you. he hurt you in many ways you’ve never expected. he broke you. the same guy who swore to your father that he’ll never hurt you. the same guy who promised to marry you and spend the rest of your life with.
fred saw the hesitation and hurt in your eyes so he sighed, “i’m sorry, goop. i’m sorry for being such a coward. i was never ready to say goodbye… i never was,” he took one last glance at you before leaving you once again.
you sobbed as you watched his figure retreat slowly. you didn’t care if there were people looking at you with concern and pity. you didn’t care if someone had accidentally bumped into you. your mind was too busy with the thoughts of fred, so you apparated back into your flat, trusting george to take care of teddy for a while.
fred’s heart broke even more as he heard your distant sob. he let the tears gathered in his eyes fall. all he wanted to do was to bring you in his arms and shower you with his love, make up for all the lost time, but he knew that he deserved the pain. he deserved it because he hurt you, he broke you, and he can never forgive himself for that.

Brother’s Best Friend ; Rafe Cameron
masterlist
Request: heyy I’ve recently found your account and I just felt in love with the way you write and with your works so I was wondering if you could write a fic where the reader is Kelce’s sister, she’s sitting alone at home and suddenly she hears a doorbell ringing, she comes to open the door and that’s Rafe and she says something like “Kelce’s not home” or smth like that and Rafe answers “I actually came to see you” or smth like that. It can be smut or fluff or whatever I don’t really care. Sorry if this is chaotic but I just want the reader to be black and I have bad ideas lmao 😭 sending love ❤️❤️
Pairing: Rafe Cameron x reader
Summary: Fooling around with your best friend's sister is not a good sign, especially when it involves something more than skinny dipping and drinking alcohol together.
Warnings: Slight smut, mentions of drinking, slight angst, teasing Rafe Cameron
A/N: I'm so close to 700 followers wtf y'all are truly amazing ily! I'm finishing all requests in my inbox for the new few days; thank you to those who put their trust in me to write their ideas <33
(Y/N) could never deny the attraction she felt towards a certain brunette boy with that charming smile.
The feeling evolved for the first time when he came over to her house to see Kelce. He was so polite to her; giving her a turn on passing the ball and scolding Kelce and Topper for not wanting to give her a chance at playing basketball in the swimming pool.
But she was only 8 back then, and she regarded the feeling as nothing more than a silly crush.
Rafe Cameron changed when he entered high school. (Y/N) couldn't explain what was wrong, but he was not her Rafe anymore. He didn't hold the door for her, scold Kelce for making fun of her or do anything that used to make her heart soar.
Her thoughts were disrupted when a fresh blue towel hit her squarely on the face, causing her to yelp in shock.
"Do you wanna come down to the lake with us?"
(Y/N) rolled her eyes, pulling the towel to her side, and closed her magazine with a snap. Her eyes fell back to the three guys, lingering on the tallest one a little bit too long.
She cleared her throat, "No, I'm tired."
Kelce shrugged, walking towards the entrance of their home from the swimming pool. He didn't feel like having (Y/N) around anyways, because that would mean he would have to protect her from his friends.
Kelce loved his friends, of course, but he also knew the other side of them that uses girls like Kleenex tissue only to throw them away again.
"On a second thought-" (Y/N) said, stopping the three boys from entering the big house. "I think I'll go."
"You sure?" Kelce asked. God. Now he would have to play the big-brother stimulator for the whole night.
The night sky was dark, and the only light came from the moonlight up above and sometimes from the flashlight of each other's phone. Boozes laid messily on the wooden deck and their clothes were discarded all over the place.
Not one person was sober, and they were all laughing to a joke by Topper.
"Okay, okay, last one-" Topper said excitedly. He shivered, and (Y/N) thought about it as a response towards the cold lake water or the excited nerves of sharing another stupid joke. "Why did the chicken cross the road?"
"Easy. To get to the other side," Rafe answered proudly. A beer drop slid down from his lips to his chin, and (Y/N) felt a strong desire to lick it.
"Wrong."
"Okay, fine, I don't know."
Topper smiled widely, and (Y/N) could see this joke coming from a few miles away. "To get to the loser's house. Knock knock."
Rafe pulled a face, his eyebrows raised. "Who's there?"
"The chicken."
Kelce and Topper's laugh filled the silence around them, and (Y/N) found herself slightly smiling at the joke. Rafe groaned, finally understanding the joke and being angry at himself for willingly taking the bait.
"Okay, okay. The joke's over."
Kelce laughed again before taking a full swig of another beer bottle. He stared at the sky, and let out a loud huff.
"Wish we can go up there."
"Me too, man," Topper agreed. He joined Kelce by staring up at the dark sky, both clearly high out of their minds.
"Do you want to?"
(Y/N) looked to her side, not noticing Rafe who had moved from his previous position near Topper to beside her. She quirked her head to one side, her face questioning.
"Go up to the sky," he explained. He watched as she looked up to the sky, her mouth slightly parting. Her chest heaved peacefully, and her wet body donning the lilac bikini never looked so beautiful and perfect.
"Nah. I'm too scared."
"Even when I'll go with you?" he smiled. (Y/N) rolled her eyes, though her heart was soaring brightly; she would never feel scared anymore if he were to be around her all the time.
"Yeah. Even when you’ll go with me. Besides, it's not possible."
"Let people enjoy things," he said, and he was so close to her now because she could smell the coffee mint from his breath. Her heart was beating wildly, though this would be the ten-thousandth time he did this to her.
It never failed to leave her completely breathless.
"You're drooling," he whispered, and used his thumb to wipe her wet lips from the beer. Her breath hitched, and she couldn't utter any words back. She was too mesmerised with the whole situation.
His fingers stopped at her chin, looking into her eyes, and he was petrified too. He leaned in, but before anything could happen, (Y/N) moved away. He cleared his throat, and swam back to the deck.
‘I’m drunk’ was repeated by him all the way to the the place he threw his clothes off, shaking his head at the thought that he was so close to kissing her. He looked back to her direction in the lake, still staring at him. He focused back on the ties of his shorts, and made his way back to the Kelce’s house.
He ignored his best friends calls.
. . .
(Y/N) never really liked school, but she loved the after-activity that she got herself in.
Like cheerleading.
She used to think of the sport as something quirky, but in truth, once she was accepted into the school’s cheerleading team, she had never been more into a sport than before.
She walked down the field to the other side of the track where the other girls were waiting for her. Her training skirt flew slightly from the wind, and she was trying to hold them down all while carrying the water bottle and a duffle bag.
She exchanged a few greetings with her other friends, putting down her duffle bag and her water bottle. The sun was scorching hot, and all she felt like was eating ice cream inside of their boat whilst streaming down the lake, but the last time she had ditched cheer practice, it hadn’t ended well.
“Uh-oh,” someone exclaimed behind her. “Big bro is coming.”
(Y/N) looked up to the field, and sure enough Kelce was running towards her in his jersey. (Y/N) sighed, not knowing what she did now that could earn her a lecture from Kelce.
“Hey, I’m bringing a girl home after practice,” he said. “Would you mind getting a ride with someone else?”
She groaned, “Fuck, Kelce, no. You can tell your new scandal to fuck off because I am not getting an Uber to walk back to home.”
“Look, please? You can ask your friends to give you a ride, right? It’s important,” he begged. His eyes were scanning her friends now, obviously trying to find someone who could help his sister, and when he found one, his smile quirked upwards. “Yo, Sarah! Can you drive (Y/N) home after practice?”
Sarah walked towards them, her blonde hair up in a ponytail. She slung her arms around (Y/N)’s shoulders, noting the exasperated expression on her face, and gave Kelce a glare.
“You should let her drive a car if you’re going to bring a girl home after school,” she said. Kelce groaned, knowing the amount of shit he will be getting from the people around him, but he was truly trying to make it right for this new girl.
“Look, I’ll buy y’all anything for a week. Food? Sure. Clothes? Sure.”
Sarah clapped her hands, seemingly excited, and forced (Y/N) to say yes. She wouldn’t mind driving (Y/N) home, because she wanted to catch up with her about some gossip too.
“Fine. But I’m driving my own car tomorrow.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever,” was all he said before he jogged down to the soccer team.
That evening was hell to (Y/N). She couldn’t get the formation right, the sun was getting hotter and hotter, her hair was sticking out weirdly, and worst of all, she couldn’t stop thinking about yesterday’s event.
He was so, so close to her.
“(Y/N), come on! What’s gotten into you? The top part, again!” The coach yelled, slapping her hands against her lap. There were sweat forming on her forehead, and she was obviously hot and bothered from this whole situation.
But sport was sport. The coach wasn’t going to let today’s training to waste, and she intended for the new number to work.
(Y/N) muttered a soft ‘sorry’ before going back to her position, her heart still thumping at the thought. The cheer started, and her mouth was saying the words, but her brain was somewhere else.
The two guys by her side picked her up by her calf, and she felt the wind gushing out from beside her ears. She was high up in the sky now, throwing one arm upwards and balancing herself on one leg, and it was finally time now, to twirl into the two boys’ arms, but she wasn’t ready. Her mouth didn’t utter any words from the cheer, too focused on the step, and before she could jump back into their arms, she felt herself slipping.
“(Y/N)!” The coach yelled, running towards her by the track. Sarah and the other teammates were surrounding her now, watching as she groaned on the ground painfully, holding onto her arms.
“Okay, I take that as the end of today’s training,” the coach said, sighing. “(Y/N), are you okay? Can you walk?”
(Y/N) held her thumbs up, because she had worse injury than this before. Hell, the boxing fight she used to have with Kelce in their childhood was more painful. She sat up from the track, feeling the heat of the ground burning on her bottoms, and stretched her fingers. The pain coursed through her veins at the feeling, but kinda liked it.
“Come on, let’s get you home,” Sarah said, helping her up. She groaned when she finally stood on her two feet, feeling so painful all she wanted to do was lay back on the track, but she knew she had to go home.
She allowed Sarah helping her limp towards a black Mercedes, her eyes closed the whole time.
Okay, scratch the fight with Kelce. This one was more painful than ever.
“Can I stay at your house?” She blurted when Sarah drove out of the school gate. “I don’t feel like listening to my mom’s lecture about my leg.”
Sarah glanced at her from the rearview mirror, watching as she spread her leg out the whole backseat. The ice bag someone had gotten her was pressed against her calf, and she was sweating from the heat and trying to contain the pain.
“Yes, of course, that would be better,” Sarah said. She had other plans that evening, but helping (Y/N) overstepped all of them.
“So what’s up with you and John B?”
Sarah turned to look at her fully on her face, furrowing her eyebrows. “What do you know about John B?”
(Y/N) laughed, “The light’s green.” Just on cue, the car behind them horned at Sarah, and she quickly pushed on the pedal.
“How do you know about John B?” Sarah asked, biting her lips. If (Y/N) could find out, she couldn’t imagine what would Rafe do if he finds out.
“God, don’t be worried. I’m not going to tell anyone about this, okay? Just relax. I think it’s cute.”
Sarah’s worried expression softened, “You think so?”
“Yeah. At least you got to be with whoever you want. Some people can’t have that.”
Like her. Kelce would kill her and dump her body in the ocean for the sharks if he ever finds out how much she likes Rafe.
“You’ll find the one soon. How about that guy in your maths class?” The car turned to the right, nearing the destination.
“No. I’m not looking for anyone.”
There’s only one, but Sarah won’t like the answer.
The time was 8.23p.m. now, and (Y/N) had been in Sarah’s room for a total of 3 hours. After catching up on new gossips, watched a movie, did her English essay, she felt extremely dehydrated.
Sarah was sleeping peacefully beside her, being so tired after the practice and school, and (Y/N) didn’t feel like waking her up. She have been to The Camerons household, but that was only for Sarah’s birthday party a few years back.
She sighed, getting up from the bed to find the kitchen. The house was like a maze, and she wished they had some kind of a map to browse through.
Alas, she found the kitchen, her muscles screaming from all the wrong turns she took before. She knew where the plastic cups and plates were situated, having to help Sarah get them during her birthday party, so she didn’t have any trouble getting some.
She drank the cold water quickly, feeling the liquid sloshing down her throat. The feeling was so, so good that she wished she could go through it again.
“I do not know where your sister is, Kelce,” a voice sighed not far from the kitchen. “I told you you shouldn’t bring that girl home and just drive (Y/N) home yourself.”
The voice, unmistakably Rafe, was getting nearer and nearer. (Y/N)’s eyes widened, trying to find an empty space to hide in, but there were none. She panicked, still looking for a way out that she didn’t notice the tall figure behind her.
“Oh. Found you.”
His hair was dishevelled and wet, his chest heaving and he was shirtless.
What a nice way to bump onto each other.
“Take a picture,” he started, shutting his phone off and placing them in his shorts. “It’ll last longer that way.”
Now we’re talking about the new Rafe.
(Y/N) scoffed, pushing him away and making a disgusted face at his sweat sticking on her arms. “I’m here for Sarah.”
“Why? Did she die or something?”
God. He really is insufferable.
She made to push him away to return to Sarah’s room, only for him to grab her by her waist.
“Move.” Her tone was stern, but her stomach was flipping wildly. She tried to not look so bothered, but failed miserably.
Rafe seemed to notice her behaviour because he didn’t let go of her. “Come on, where’s the fun in that?”
She was on the same level as his neck now, and he could still smell his expensive cologne even after he swam in the swimming pool. She sighed, placing her hands against his chest.
“Move.”
Rafe laughed, putting his hands up in defeat, and went to grab the same glass she was drinking from. He refilled the glass and downed the content, and (Y/N) had to look away from the innocent move.
Maybe he was just saving water by not using a different cup.
“Do you need help to return to Sarah’s room or something?”
“No, I’m fine,” she refused, and made sure he could see her fake annoyed expression before she returned to the hall she came from. But there were 2 halls now, and she completely forgot which one she had been before.
“Really?” Rafe stood beside her, and she looked up to his amused face. “Because you’re in the wrong hall. It’s the other exit of the kitchen, darling.”
. . .
Why couldn’t she not see his face every single day?
It was truly troubling her, to see that boy everyday, because she couldn’t think properly every time.
The lights from the stadium blared widely, and the deafening screaming coming from both teams’ supporters rang throughout the whole field. (Y/N) was sure the whole island could hear them too.
Two things happened earlier than evening. Number one, her skirt wasn’t completely dried after being sent off to the laundry for a week, and her hair wasn’t just cooperating.
So here she was; in a shorter uniform skirt, her hair hung up into a ponytail with lots of hairspray. She wished for nothing but to be all cuddled up with her blanket in her room.
“You’re okay?” Sarah asked. She fixed (Y/N)’s lips gently, getting the lipstick and lipliner even, and gave her a kiss on the cheeks. “Don’t worry about the skirt. It looks normal.”
For a little girl.
(Y/N) sighed and involuntarily pulled down the hem of her skirt. Ten minutes from the game now, and she was nervous she would flash everyone on the school compound.
In the locker room, Rafe was sitting right next to Kelce as his best friend prayed for a win tonight. He was never that religious, and he didn’t feel the need to mutter a prayer to anyone. But tonight, he listened intently to whatever Kelce was saying because he needed to win this cup more than anything in the world.
“You’re okay?” The coach asked, patting him on the shoulder.
“Yeah. Just nervous.”
“Don’t be, you’re the Star Player. Right?”
The Star Player.
Rafe gave him a smile, and went back to his praying.
When he first entered the field to meet the rival team, his eyes couldn’t help but scanned the bleachers to find his dad. Ward wasn’t there, but Rose and Wheezie were cheering for him.
Of course.
He sighed, and went straight to the middle of the field. It’s funny how everyone was there to support him, Rafe, the Star Player, the jock, the whatever else people were saying about him.
He just wanted Ward to see him.
“Come on, man, it’s fine,” Topper said, patting his back. “He’ll come later.”
Even his friends could see how miserable he was feeling.
The first match of the game went smoothly; he scored a try goal, everyone was cheering loudly, but it was just then that one of the opponents came knocking Rafe by his side.
Rafe fell to the ground with a loud thud, earning so many gasps from the stand.
“What the fuck?!” Topper pushed whoever responsible for his fall, and the sound of a whistle rang throughout the air. “He pushed him for nothing! You saw it, fuck!”
Rafe groaned on the ground, clutching onto his arms, and he tried to spread his fingers, but couldn’t. His other teammates were surrounding him now, trying to get a good look of him, all while Topper and Kelce and another friend of his went off to the referee.
Rafe put his other hand up, trying to sit up. “I’m fine, I’m fine! Move!”
The other members scattered away, sighing in relief when Rafe came back to his legs. The referee, still getting yelled at by Topper, shook his head at something he said, and before anyone could process what happened, Topper tackled the opponent who had pushed Rafe down to the ground.
Kelce pulled Topper away after a few long seconds, telling him to stop. But one thing about Topper is that he just won’t stop.
“Stupid fuck!” He yelled, throwing another punch.
“Topper, stop, they’re going to throw you off the field!” Kelce yelled. Finally, he separated them away after the opponent’s friend pulled his injured friend away.
The referee, expectedly, pulled a red card to Topper, earning a groan coming from their coach and the stand. Rafe cursed, knowing that Topper’s one of their strongest member. He watched as Topper tried to argue with the referee, but it was no use.
“It’s okay,” Kelce said, patting his back as he made his way back to the bench. “Relax, bro, okay?” Topper calmed down after the coach said something to him, but Rafe could clearly see the distress written on his face.
“You’re okay?” Kelce asked, pointing to his arms.
Rafe could move his muscles now though he could feel the sharp pain from doing so. But he was too content on winning this game.
(Y/N) watched as the second match unfold, her teeth biting into her lips in fear. She didn’t feel like having the next week full of gloomy students and disappointed teachers, so she wanted the cup as much as everyone else.
Rafe was fast, throwing the ball smoothly back and forth with Kelce and his other friends, but it was apparent that the Star Player wasn’t feeling like himself.
It might be the arm, or the fact that Ward Cameron was too busy with his work to see his son playing.
37 minutes had passed, and the other team was leading. They only had 3 minutes left, and with the team being so drained out and their captain with a broken arm, it was clear who was winning.
The whistle blared through the field again, noting the end of the match. As the other team supporters cheered happily the other side of the stands muttered silently to each other about the game.
(Y/N) watched as Rafe yelled something at his teammates angrily before storming off to the locker room. He winced in pain, holding his arm for support, and ignored every calls from his friends as he made his way to the empty room.
Looking around quickly, she muttered a ‘be right back’ to Sarah, and quickly followed Rafe into the locker room. She wanted to see if he was okay, and if he needed help with his arm.
In truth, she just wanted to be there for him.
“Hey,” she slowly said, and Rafe’s head perked up to see her before he looked down to the ground again.
“What do you want?”
She felt a struck of pain across her heart at his tone, but decided against it. “Are you okay?”
“Fine. You’re not supposed to be here.”
“I was just trying to see if you need anything,” she said, and when his eyes finally looked up to her again, she unconsciously pulled her skirt down again.
“Yeah? I don’t need anything. Go!”
“Wow, you’re a dick,” she scoffed, and before Rafe could mutter anything back, she exited the locker room and straight to the cheer team. She felt a mixture of anger and embarrassment all at once, because God, Rafe Cameron did not just yell at her for trying to be nice.
She should’ve known better than to be ‘nice’ to him. He wasn’t the same 8 year old she met 10 years ago.
. . .
A week had passed from the game, and everything went back to normal.
Except for one person.
Rafe didn’t come to school the next Monday, not that (Y/N) wanted to see him after getting yelled at, but she couldn’t help but feel sorry for him.
He didn’t just broke his arm; his father also chose not to attend his game.
It was finally Friday, and (Y/N) was too happy to stay home and continue watching Love Island. Life is better when you are focused on someone else’s relationship other than yours.
She was rolling in her bed, casually smiling at the cheesy joke made by one of the contestant, and before she could hear the reply towards the joke, the doorbell blared throughout the house.
(Y/N) groaned, thinking how Kelce must’ve forgotten his keys again, and waited a few more minutes so that he would just leave her alone and go to that stupid prick, Rafe Cameron’s house.
But the doorbell rang again, and she had no choice but to open the door. She was all alone in the big house, having both her parents still working and her maids having the day off.
But when she opened the door, the boy standing before her was the last person she wanted to see.
“Hi,” Rafe said.
“Kelce’s not here,” she mumbled, and pushed the door close. Rafe’s quickly put his hands to block the door from closing, and (Y/N) pulled away after deciding not to crush his other only working hands.
“What?” She asked, in the same tone that he had given her in the locker room. She felt good when his eyebrows were raised.
“I’m here for you.”
“Why? Did I die or something?” Bingo.
“God, you’re impossible,” Rafe sighed. “Can I talk to you? Just us two?”
(Y/N) sighed, wanting to get this done, and opened the door wider to grant him into her home. (Y/N) closed the door and pressed her back against it, crossing her arms.
“Okay. Talk.”
“Look, I’m sorry, okay?” He said. “I was just so angry with everything. I was pushed and Topper received a red card because of me—”
“You didn’t do anything, Rafe.”
“Yeah, but he was just trying to protect me. And, and I was just so mad at myself because I couldn’t play properly like I usually play. I’m so sorry for yelling at you. I didn’t mean it.”
(Y/N) sighed, “It’s okay. I’m over it.”
“Really?” He stepped closer, and this time, (Y/N) allowed him. “Thank you so much!”
He pulled her into a crushing hug, and before she could put her mind into it, he lifted her up and spin her around.
“Okay, okay, now you’re just pushing it,” she groaned, hitting him on his chest. “Put me down, Rafe, I swear to god.”
Rafe put her down, his face shining happily. They were close again, like that time in the lake, and (Y/N) didn’t feel like pushing him away again.
Because maybe, that 8 year old him was somewhere in there.
“Uh—” he looked away, scratching the back of his head. “Do you wanna. . . watch Netflix?”
(Y/N) cleared her throat, “I was watching Love Island. Wanna watch with me?”
Rafe nodded, anything to get closer with this girl, and followed her upstairs to her room. The first time he entered her room was 9 years ago, and it was only because Topper and Kelce had pranked him into thinking that her room was the gaming room.
“What are you doing?” The girl before him yelled, and before he could explain how he was lied to, she threw a pink hairbrush at him. He groaned from the pain, rubbing his head.
“I’m sorry, I thought this was the gaming room!”
“Out!” She yelled, and he quickly obliged.
Her room was still pink, but it was now filled with so many books, clothes and makeups instead of the dollhouse and toys he saw a few years ago.
“Is this the pink hairbrush you threw at me?” He laughed, holding the pink tool. (Y/N) snatched the hairbrush, embarrassed, and quickly stuffed them into the drawers.
He placed himself beside her on her bed, watching her as she resumed the video. He focused on the show, trying to find at least something interesting from the show, but there was nothing.
2 episodes later, he was too into the show that he pressed on the stop button before they could continue on the next episode.
“I wish they would just communicate,” he said. “Like the whole show’s pointless. They didn’t try to talk to each other about their problems.”
“Yeah, that’s what makes the show interesting, Rafe,” she said as if that was a fact, “And besides, if they communicate, everyone will win the show.”
“Then that’s just good. A win-win situation.”
“You don’t get it,” she groaned, looking into his face. “There’s no use in fighting with you about this.”
She pressed on the resume button again, and instantly, Rafe pressed on the stop button.
“Rafe, I will—”
“You still haven’t apologised for throwing the hairbrush at me.”
She widened her eyes, “That was 9 years ago.”
“And?”
“Fine,” she placed her laptop aside, and turned to fully look him in the face. “Sorry.”
“Not sincere enough.”
She groaned, “Rafe, I am terribly sorry for throwing my pink hairbrush at you. I am so sorry that it hit your face and be the reason why you’re still holding vengeance at someone.”
“I’m not talking about that kind of sorry.”
“Fuck, you’re annoying,” she said. “I’m not going to bow down to you or anything.”
“Just a kiss.”
She looked at him back, her heart stopping at his words. “No.”
“Why?”
“Why? Because you’re Rafe?”
“Rafe? Okay, fine. I’m not Rafe. I’m Rafael.”
“Okay, it’s still a no. You’re Kelce’s best friend.”
“Didn’t you kiss Topper last year?”
“That was a dare—” she sighed. “And it didn’t mean anything.”
“Exactly. This won’t mean anything. This is just a sorry.”
It would mean everything to her to place her lips against his.
“This is sexual harassment.”
“Not if you want it too,” he said, and leaned closer to her. “And you do want it, right? I can see it in your eyes.”
She didn’t know why God would put her and Rafe in this damn position over and over again, because it wasn’t helping her to get over him.
She looked down to his lips, and how it was so inviting, and she wanted more than anything to kiss him, to finally give herself to him, but she was afraid.
“Rafe—”
“Shut up,” he cut her off, and pressed himself against her. Their kiss was slow and passionate, none like neither (Y/N) or Rafe had experienced before. Her hands found themselves wrapping around Rafe’s neck, pulling him closer.
He pulled away, grinning. “I thought you didn’t want this.”
“Shut up.” She rolled her eyes, and pulled him in for another kiss again.
He pushed her down onto the bed gently, still kissing her, and his hands were roaming down her body. She was so, so perfect and every time he saw her, he would have to look away to stop the unwanted thoughts forming in his head.
During the game last Friday, he had to pinch himself from staring at her legs in that goddamn skirt for too long.
“Fuck, you’re perfect,” he whispered, and she hummed in response before pushing him over so she could take control. She sat on top of him, grinning widely. She was in heaven; seeing him all worked up under her with his chest heaving.
“You would be surprised at the amount of times I imagined myself on top of you like this,” she said, placing her hands flat on top of his chest.
Rafe grinned back, trying to contain his feelings. “Yeah? Wanna show what else you’ve been imagining?”
She leaned closer, making sure to brush her bottom against him and hearing his soft groans. She placed a soft kiss against his cheek, and whispered into his ear.
“Would rather have you show what you’ve been dreaming of me.”
Rafe licked his lips, loving this side of her, and he wanted more than anything to make her his. She looked so innocent sitting there on top of him, smiling and biting her lips.
Before he could touch her in ways he never did to a girl before, a voice rang from outside the room.
“(Y/N)? Have you seen Rafe? I saw his car outside,” the voice said. After a few seconds of silence, he sighed. “You’re okay? I’m coming in, okay?”
“No, no, wait!” (Y/N) shouted, scrambling from her position on top of Rafe as he quickly pulled her up, but it was too late.
Kelce saw them in the midst of trying to get away, with his sister’s leg on one side of his best friend and his best friend’s hands still around his sister’s waist.
“What. The. Fuck.”

like my father loves my mom
Jackson POV ficlet inspired by the song Like My Father by Jax (go watch the music video (and maybe grab some kleenex because it always makes me cry))
714 words, read here on AO3
His parents growing up were very private in their love. A kiss on the cheek before work in the morning, again in the evening after work. Tender smiles and warm hugs. Theirs was a quiet love; ordinary. It wasn’t the love of great novels, nor of overly emotional films. Poems wouldn’t be written about them. They didn’t cry it from the rooftops or kiss in public. High school sweethearts; grew up together, went to church together, got married and had a child together. Roses on valentine’s day. That, Jackson believed, was how adults loved. Sensibly and quietly, with everyone having their own chair in the living room and the constant presence of gold bands on ring fingers. In his more cynical moments, adults loved boringly.
And then he met them.
He bought her calla lilies – her favourite – home just because. Post-its littered the house, sometimes with a smiley face or a heart along with a message to have a good day or take the bins out; other times with filthy little notes about what she would do to him if he remembered to pick up strawberries and ice cream from the store.
They were touchy, never within arm’s reach of one another without being in physical contact with one another, and he learned early on that in the aftermath of any fight, no matter how big or small, he should disappear to his room with his headphones blasting at top volume, else he hear things he really wished not to.
Date night was Monday, because apparently their first date had been a Monday, and consisted of anything from star-gazing to mini-golf: never sushi, though.
He opened every single door for her, placed his hand on her back as they walked. Kissed the back of her neck and fleck of silver as it started to show amongst the autumn gold, made jokes about fine wines and cheeses. Occasionally she’d parry back with a joke about sleeping bags.
She always put sunflower seeds at the top of the shopping list whilst he always bought the real cream cheese and not the lite cream cheese, even though she’d ostensibly complain. Before dinner every night they walked around the property, hand in hand, and after dinner they’d curl up together in the armchair that used to be her father’s and read or watch a film. They’d work together when cooking because she always burnt the food and he always made a chaotic mess of the kitchen. And when the right song came on the radio they’d drop whatever they were doing to dance around the living room, dopey looks on their faces as they gazed into one another’s eyes and laughter filling the air as he whispered in her ear and squeezed her ass.
He’d make a joke about how old they were and in perfect synchronicity, they’d stick their middle fingers up at him without even looking or he'd get two couch cushions thrown at his head with perfect aim.
On rainy Sundays, they’d play board games and she’d let him win chess whilst he let her win Scrabble, and on sunny weekends they’d drive out to the coast or into the mountains, sleep in the tent or the car or under the stars. They teased and ribbed each other with jokes thirty years old that he had no hope of understanding.
He’d watched as she’d caught her reflection with a displeased frown and a tilt of her head, watched as he’d noticed and told her how hot she was, told her she still had some ‘scoot in her boot,’ murmured sweet nothings into her ear until she laughed and kissed him and jumped up into his arms to cling onto him like a koala.
He watched as they taught his little sister just how loud love could be, just how much she should be treasured by whatever partner she had in the future. He watched as she grew into someone who loved so freely he was constantly terrified she would get hurt. And when he voiced those fears, asked them how they managed to avoid the pain, they smiled at him softly and held one another close, told him how the pain was unavoidable, but that love – real, true love – was worth every ounce of it.

common cold - audrey tindall x reader
masterlist
summary: fluff. poor audrey has a little cold (covid doesn’t exist in this).
includes: audrey x fem!reader, all in reader’s POV.
warnings: none
1,300 words
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Y/N POV//
"Darling is that you?" Audrey's currently nasally voice sounds from the couch.
"Yeah, I got you the good stuff!" I place the bags on the kitchen counter, "How're you holding up, my love?"
"Same as when you left. Coughing, sneezing, napping. How about you?"
"You're the one that's sick" I laugh as I take off my shoes and coat.
She rests her chin on the back of the couch, "I don't want to be rude. You are my designated caretaker after all. I don't want to inspire a Nurse Ratched situation."
"Thank you, I am the same as I was an hour ago." I put the groceries where they need to go and quickly wash my hands.
"Good"
"I like taking care of you"
Audrey leans into my hand when I check her temperature, "You underestimate my ability to annoy someone"
"You underestimate how whipped I am. I bought more tea, hot chocolate—"
"Marshmallows, too?"
"Of course, baby. Then there's stuff to make soup, cookies, ice cream, ginger ale, medicine—"
"Bourbon and a gun? I'll have the gun first, thanks." Audrey groans, "my nose is all stuffy! It’s giving me a headache."
"I bought more kleenex as well" I place the tissues on the coffee table and plop down beside her, "we were running low."
She snuggles into my side before rearing back, "I don't want to get you sick. Are you sure you want to sit this close to me?"
"Its only a little cold. I'll probably catch it anyway. We live together and keep accidentally kissing good morning, goodnight, and goodbye."
"In my defense you give 'kiss me eyes' without even realizing" she shrugs.
"Is that what happened?"
"It's the only reasonable explanation."
"Do you wanna get back in bed?" I ask.
"I don't want to sit in there anymore, do you wanna watch something with me?" she reaches for the remote.
"What're you gonna put on?"
"Something mindless and fun, I don't have the attention span for anything with substance at the moment. Like plot or thinking. So stay at your own risk."
"I'll make you some soup first" I head to the kitchen.
"My hero!"
(( time skip / after eating ))
"Hot chocolate, tea, or ginger ale?"
"Hot cocoa, please!" after a while she calls out again, "I'm pretty sure you're curing me" she sneezes, "spoke to soon"
"Here Audie" I pass her a mug.
"Thank you, honey" she sips and sighs, "you're being so sweet it's almost hard for me to blame this on you"
"Almost?" I lift her legs to lay them across my lap.
"I'm only teasing but ugh, you're taking such good care of me it's hard to even do that. That's so unlike me. Guess I've never been pampered like this before when I'm poorly, but this? I could get used to this. Know that I will repay you doubly when you're sick. Mark my words."
"You don't have to, my love."
"Always so stubborn, I will strap you to the bed if that's what it takes to nurse you back to health." she breaks out into a coughing fit again.
I adjust the blanket and rest my hand next to her knee, "Let's get you better before you threaten me with a good time."
"I feel as though I've watched 90% of everything on Netflix. Anything worth it anyway. How many streaming subscriptions do we have and yet there's nothing good."
"You're not even stopping to read what they're about"
She glares at me, "I am ill and you expect me to read?"
"Silly me"
"Silly you indeed. I've read somewhere that it's incredibly unhealthy to read when you’re sick... it- it said that it takes the energy your body would use to fight the virus for your cerebral cortex to process all of the big words."
"You are a thousand percent making that up."
"Of course I am! You now expect me to read actual studies when I'm poorly? We just talked about this."
"I thought you were too weak to tease me"
"Your fault for being so cute"
"Blaming me again?"
"The quicker you accept that, the better. Though I will call timeout if you give me a back massage." she raises her eyebrows expectantly.
"Fine" I take her mug and set it on the table, "I'm gonna grab some lotion"
"Yay! I mean-" she forces a cough, "...thank you..." Audrey drops a pillow on the floor to take a seat.
Her hands pause at the hem of her shirt when I walk back into the living room, "What's wrong?"
"I'm not wearing a bra"
"Oh no, I'll close my eyes since we haven't been together for almost four years." I deadpan before laughing, "Never had a problem popping your top off before."
"Excuse you!" she scoffs.
I settle in behind her rubbing my hands together to warm the lotion up, "Are you gonna find a movie?"
"Right, sorry. Got distracted." she says pointedly, furrowing her brow in concentration.
"That's so unlike you!"
She lets her head fall back into my lap to look up at me, "Ha. Ha."
"You're distracting me" I nod towards her now exposed chest.
"I have a feeling you don't mind."
"I'm also having a feeling- I didn't say I mind I said I'm distracted."
"If you're lucky I'll let you put the VapoRub on my chest for me."
"Fingers crossed"
She giggles, resting her hand over my own that's on her shoulder, "Thank you for staying home with me, I really appreciate it."
I lean down to kiss her forehead.
Audrey sits up and turns around, "You missed." she pulls my head down enough to bring my lips to hers, “Dammit.”
"We did it again" I point out.
"It's worth it" she smiles my absolute favorite smile before going back to her movie search.
"What about that one?"
"I've seen it and honestly the trailer was the best part."
"That's unfortunate." I laugh.
"They put all the best shots in so you're like 'wow I want to see more'. Spoiler: there's nothing more to see."
"What about Carol?"
"So we both cry and both end up stuffy?"
"Good point."
"I'm thinking a cliche hallmark-esque movie. My favorite was A Boyfriend for Christmas. For the life of me I can't remember who the lead actress was."
"Does she get a boyfriend"
"Of course she does- what kind of movie would it be if it didn't even do what the title says?" she laughs.
"It'd be a short one. Or maybe a sad one because a grown woman would find out Santa doesn't exist."
"You don't wanna know how many Christmas prince movies I've watched."
"Oh gosh, why Audrey?"
"My mother used to put them on all the time. I started watching them for nostalgia I guess."
"I'm so embarrassed for you."
"I- how dare you—" she's cut off by a brutal cough.
"You alright there, baby?" I pass her tea to her.
"Yeah... it's probably from all this debating you're putting me through."
"Alright" I roll my eyes.
"I admit I provoked you with Christmas prince but I hope you can forever overlook that flaw." she drops her head back again to make eye contact, "I'm willing to seek help."
Smiling I lean down for a spider-man kiss.
"There we go again. How about you keep massaging the cold right out of my body -because that's how science works- and I'll put on Oceans 8?"
"So you do have taste."
"Only the finest of films for sapphic culture and my darling treasure. Also, excuse me I have fantastic taste, I chose you didn't I."
"That's sweet but still a questionable decision on your part."
"I could just sit here and compliment you till you stop talking like that."
"Nope nope nope, cue the movie!"

MASTERLIST // PART 1 // PART 2
Tumblr media
The soft melody Charlie was playing on his guitar made her look at the propped-up iPad while she cut some veggies and her heart skipped a beat with the intense look he was giving her. If that’s how he made her feel through a screen she knew she was bound to collapse under his gaze once they met in person.
“What are you playing?” Y/N asked with one last look, before setting her attention on the cutting board. If she ended up with a missing finger because of him and his tempting smile, she was going to block him.
“Traverser l’hiver” he answered, and  Y/N raised her eyebrows in surprise, she definitely wasn’t expecting him to answer her in French, “I’ve been listening to that song on repeat the last couple of days, and now I’m trying to learn it.”
“What does it mean?” she questioned, putting down the knife for a bit, so she could focus on his explanation.
“Making it through winter,” Charlie replied, plucking the guitar strings softly, “the song talks about how his relationships never last and that he’s glad that they made it through the winter because he can’t get enough of her.”
“Send me the song later,” she mentioned with a smile. That sounded like a good song, and she wanted to know what his music style was like.
Calling each other on FaceTime while they did their own stuff quickly became their thing since they matched on the app two weeks ago, just enjoying the company and asking questions once in a while. Normally it was just her doing stuff like cleaning her desk or cooking while Charlie sat there playing the guitar or reading a script.
“It’s in French,” he warned her, and even if she wasn’t looking at the screen, she already knew he was giving her That smile, the one that made her stomach flutter with excitement.
“Music is a universal language, Charlie,” she chuckled.
“I thought that was love,” the boy pointed out playfully, “I’m gonna send it as soon as we hang up. Promise.”
“Good, because I’m not sure if I’d be able to find it.”
Y/N saw him throw his head back as he laughed, the movement loosening his man bun. She inhaled deeply, before looking away from the screen. She wanted to know if his hair was as soft as it looked.
“What are you cooking anyway?” Charlie questioned when his laughter died down, and he stopped playing with the guitar strings.
“I’m meal prepping actually,” Y/N admitted with a grin.
“No way,” he gasped, and she felt her cheeks blushing.
“This is the first time I’m trying so don’t make fun of me,” she begged as a joke.
“Never, I’m actually impressed with your commitment because that takes a lot of time,” he mentioned with a soft smile.
She smiled at him and bit her lip. Fuck it, she was gonna ask him to meet up. There was no way she could wait one more week, her assignments could wait.
“Y/N,” Charlie called her, and she tilted her head just a little to let him know she was listening, “let me take you on a date. You get to choose the place.”
She tried to hide her smile without much success, just knowing that Charlie was thinking about the same thing she was thinking made her feel so happy and excited about going out with him.
Two weeks ago, she’d have never thought about developing such a strong connection with him or that she’d get so happy whenever a new text from Charlie appeared on her phone. The thought of their connection made her relax, she could feel it on her heart that this wasn’t gonna end in another ghosting experience for her.
“Can I tell you something before I answer?” Y/N asked with a grin.
“If you tell me you’re married, I think I can share,” he joked but nodded giving her the green light to ask him whatever she had on her mind.
“I was about to ask you the same thing before you asked me out,” she confessed and the look in Charlie’s face made her whole body tingle. He was too good with eye contact for his own good.
“In that case, I’m glad I asked first,” Charlie mentioned winking at her, and she knew her cheeks were blushing with that simple gesture.
When Jo came back home, she found Y/N smiling at her phone while French music played through the speakers. There was no doubt about who was responsible for putting that smile on her friend’s face.
“What got you so happy?” Jo asked even if she knew the answer to her question.
“I’m going on a date with Charlie, in two days,” she responded holding back the excited squeal that was threatening to escape from her mouth.
“Dude, finally!” Jo scoffed but smiled at her excitement. Y/N deserved to have fun and go on dates. Her friend deserved to feel something for a guy again.
“Oh shut up!” Y/N laughed and put her head on her friend’s shoulder, “I’m so scared of how I feel about all this and I haven’t met him yet.”
“It’ll be okay,” Jo promised, resting her head on top of Y/N’s, “and if it doesn’t, we can always watch sappy movies and have ice cream for dinner.”
Two days later Jo followed the anxious girl pace in their living room, babbling about not knowing what to wear for her date or hypotheticals scenarios where Charlie would kidnap her and sell her organs on the black market.
“Y/N,” Jo said and the girl ignored her, “Y/N!” this time her friend stopped and looked at her with regret, “if you don’t wanna go then tell him.”
“But I do wanna go,” she grumbled as she sat beside Jo on the couch, “I’m just nervous about the date.”
“Where are you going?” Jo questioned.
“I told him we could go to Salt and Straw, ‘cause he has never been there,” Y/N responded biting her nails, “and then I think he said something about going to Vista Hermosa, but we’re not sure.”
“That sounds like a good plan, just make sure you go somewhere where you can talk and get to know each other.”
“Yeah, I know,” she mumbled, “I should probably start getting ready.”
She pressed her lips together in front of the mirror before throwing the lip gloss on her bag and making sure she had everything.
“Keys, Kleenex, mints, wallet and…,” she whispered and her friend’s hand appeared in front of her, “I don’t need condoms, Jo. It’s our first date, I’m not gonna have sex with him.”
“Honey, you never know,” Jo claimed with a knowing look on her face, “take them, just in case.”
“You’re a nightmare,” the girl huffed but took them and put them in her bag.
“I’m just making sure you have protection in case you need it,” her friend laughed and Y/N rolled her eyes trying to hide her smile.
Her phone chimed with a new text and her heart started racing in her chest.
Charlie: i’m outside.
“Shit, shit, shit,” she whispered and looked at Jo with panic in her eyes, “he’s here. What do I do?”
“Tell him to come upstairs, I’ll open the door, so he knows you have someone waiting for you to come back,” Jo ushered her to send her a text back.
Y/N: almost ready!! can you come upstairs?? i’ll buzz you in Charlie: sure!! no problem Charlie: what apartment??
Just a few minutes later she heard a knock on her door and Jo walked out of her room to go and open the door. She took off one earring as she heard her friend’s voice letting Charlie inside their apartment. As soon as Y/N heard his voice, she felt the butterflies go mad in her stomach.
She grabbed her bag and made her way to the living room, putting on her earring again to pretend she wasn’t ready.
“Hey,” she let out and held back her breath when their eyes met.
“Hi,” Charlie said standing up from his seat.
If Jo felt the electricity that filled the room while they were looking at each other, she didn’t mention it. But Y/N felt her whole body tingle with excitement at the sight of the boy right in front of her.
She lifted her right hand nervously, not sure if she should go for a handshake or not, but her hand got trapped between her body and Charlie’s as he went for a hug. It wasn’t long, just really soft and kinda comforting.
“Sorry,” they both said at the same time when he noticed Y/N went for a handshake instead.
“It’s okay,” Y/N said giving him a reassuring smile and tucked a loose piece of hair behind her ear.
“Ready to go?” Charlie asked pointing with his thumb to the front door. With a soft nod, she followed him to the front door, giving her best friend one last glance, Jo winked her eye at her and gave her the thumbs up.
“I parked the car around the corner,” Charlie mentioned once they were out of the apartment building.
“You found a parking spot nearby?” Y/N questioned in surprise and when he nodded eagerly she let out a laugh, “lucky guy.”
Hearing him laugh at her comment right next to her made the butterflies in her stomach go crazy. He took the car keys out of his pocket and unlocked the orange Subaru close to them.
“Thank you,” Y/N smiled at him when Charlie opened the door for her.
“No problem.”
“Get it together, Y/N,” she muttered before the boy opened his door. The nervousness coursing through her body made it feel like her tongue was tied, and she didn’t know how to put into words how glad she was to be there with him by her side.
“So which Salt and Straw are we going to?” Charlie asked, starting the car and getting out of the parking spot.
“We should go to the one near Little Tokyo, that one is closer to Vista Hermosa,” she replied and furrowed her eyebrows, trying to recall if it was actually close or not.
“Can you,” Charlie started, trying to get his phone out of his pocket, “type in the address? I’ve been living here for years, but I still need the GPS.” He handed her his phone after he unlocked it.
“When did you move here?” Y/N asked, taking the opportunity to start a small conversation
and getting to know him a little better.
“I moved to Toronto right after high school and then moved to L.A. a few months after,” he bit his lip, probably trying to do the math on his mind, “About 3 years now?”
“I’m gonna let the GPS pass just because you are brave enough to drive here,” she joked and Charlie shot her a grin that screamed trouble. And she loved it.
The fifteen minutes ride from her apartment to the ice cream shop went by in a blink of an eye, between questions, jokes, and the occasional humming coming from Charlie whenever the radio played a song he liked or knew.
“What flavor should we get?” Charlie questioned, placing his hand on her shoulder to keep her by his side in the busy shop. She glanced at the hand over her shoulder and her heart started racing.
“What if we get the flight?” Y/N hinted, pointing at the option on the board, “that way we can pick four flavors.”
“Good idea, then I want Brown Ale and Bacon, and the Double-fold Vanilla,” Charlie said with an excited smile on his face to the guy behind the counter, “and you?”
“Strawberry Tres Leches and Chocolate Gooey Brownie,” Y/N responded after a few seconds of thinking which flavor could match better with Charlie’s choices.
“You realize we still got chocolate and vanilla ice cream, right?” Charlie chuckled and Y/N rolled her eyes, but couldn’t hide the smile forming on her lips, “next time we only pick the monthly flavors, deal?”
Y/N looked up at him and nodded in response, knowing very well that meant he was considering going on a second date with her while the first one just started.
“They’re not gonna last till we get to the park, Charlie,” she warned as they made their way back to the car.
“That’s why I bought cookies,” he smiled as he tried to balance his car keys and the box with ice cream in one hand, “C’mon hurry up,” he ushered her, grabbing her hand with his free hand and guiding her through the surrounding people.
It wasn’t like he laced their finger together or something like that, he just grabbed her hand to make sure he wouldn’t lose her in the crowd, but the touch made her wish he would never let go of her. Of course, it wasn’t the first time he touched her, but the small amount of time she got to spend with him in person was enough to feel drawn to him in such a magnetic way, she never imagined possible.
“Oh that one is fucking delicious,” Charlie gasped after Y/N’s hand moved away with the now empty little spoon, his eyes still focused on the road ahead of them, “which one it was?”
“That was Strawberry Tres Leches,” she replied with a hint of pride laced on her voice, “your pick isn’t bad, you know?”
Charlie raked a hand through his hair and turned around just a few seconds to show her a bright smile.
“I have good taste,” he observed in a tone that let her know he wasn’t just talking about ice cream flavors.
Y/N opened her mouth, but the words never came out, shaking her head in pure amusement she dipped the tiny spoon in another flavor and offered it to him. What was she supposed to say?
“Why did we think we’d get there with ice cream?”  Y/N questioned when Charlie opened the car door for her.
“No idea, but we have a plan b,” he added, giving her the bag with cookies and opening the back door to search for something, “there we go.”
“I want that one,” Y/N said, taking the orange and mango-flavored Capri Sun out of his hand with the biggest smile on her face.
“I’m gonna give it to you just this time because that’s my favorite,” Charlie scoffed, but the smile that seemed to be permanent on his face gave him away.
He made her feel so relaxed but his energy was so contagious, she felt like she could do anything if she wanted to.
“Would you go on a hike with me?” he asked her before taking a sip of his Capri Sun. The juice pouch looked ridiculous tiny in his hands.
“You’d have to take it easy on me,” she commented and closed her eyes to feel the sun on her face with delight.
“So that’s a yes,” Charlie stated and the excitement in his voice made her open her eyes, so she could look at the boy sitting next to her on the grass.
“Sure,” she giggled and turned her focus to the impressive view. The overlook of Downtown Los Angeles always took her breath away, reminding her how little she really was.
When they left the park, just minutes before it closed, both of them wanting the date to last a bit longer.
“Do you mind if we stop for a coffee?” Y/N asked, her voice just loud enough for him to hear her above the music playing, her hands fidgeting on her lap.
“I was gonna ask you the same,” he replied, “we can always drive all the way to the beach if you’re up to that.”
“Are you serious?” Charlie’s beaming smile was the only answer she needed, “let’s go then.”
Being stuck in traffic with Charlie wasn’t bad at all, that meant more time together and a jamming session for them. Y/N knew he could sing, she heard him humming on their previous video calls but getting to listen to him really sing without a care in the world was amazing.
“Stop bragging, I get it, you can sing,” she teased him.
“Don’t be shy, I know you can sing too,” Charlie said as he parked the car. And there it was, the weakness that meant seeing him backing up the car with just one hand.
“Right,” she said clearing her throat and unbuckling her seatbelt after he fully stopped the car, suddenly the car felt too hot for her.
“Don’t you think you’re gonna get cold without a jacket, Y/N?” Charlie questioned, grabbing two hoodies from the back seat.
“I was counting on borrowing yours,” she admitted with a shrug.
“Let’s go before we miss the sunset,” the corners of his mouth turned up glad she was finally flirting back. Not that she didn’t do it before, but it was nice to hear she was as interested as him.
Their arms were brushing, bodies as close as possible while they faced the ocean and the sky changing colors as the sunset on the horizon. The breeze sent shivers down her spine and she pulled the sleeves to hide her hands to keep them warm. Charlie looked at her and put his arm over her shoulder, pulling her closer.
“I guess my hoodie won’t be enough uh.”

Thess vs Weekend Activity
Everybody else I know is going, “Finally! This week has been so long and now we finally have a weekend!”
And here’s me going:
Okay, more fruit has gone in the dehydrator - also the tops and leaves from my strawberries for strawberry tea later
Then I go boil some brine for my attempt at dill pickles
Then probably more fruit in the dehydrator because I’m getting the hang of what temperature to use to get it done in a reasonable time without burning anything
(Side note: need to look up how to peel a kiwi fruit because I’m okay with the peel when it’s dried but I’d like to try it without as well)
Brine will definitely be cooled by then so at that point I set up my pickles
Sometime during all this I need to go, like, outside to the pharmacy because I require soap, shampoo, and mallet meds
Also need to take out the recycling at that point
And clean out the fridge
Then I’m making a cottage pie
Gotta water the plants
Really need to finally catch up on session vids, so that can go in somewhere during the brine cooling and fruit dehydrating, I guess
Also need to set up upcoming session, probably, because I’ve been using catch-as-catch-can maps for too long, at least for my perfectionist ass
And that’s for Saturday
Sunday, I need to dust
And if I need to dust, that means I need to run the Hoover (okay, the Dyson technically but fuck that; I’m not making them the Known Brand Name like unto Kleenex and Band-Aid and, in North America at least, Scotch tape)
Laundry, probably? I need more T-shirts that I can wear to work. (It’s nice that we can be really casual, but I won’t screw up that good thing by going to work in my Something*Positive “Asshole Isn’t An Alternative Lifestyle” T-shirt. No matter how appropriate it is sometimes.)
More fruit into the dehydrator
Somewhere in there, boil beets for pickled beetroot
Probably set up my pickled ginger too
Really need to start working on the Cupcake Coterie scents
Water the plants again some more
Either lasagne or the chicken broccoli pasta bake (probably the latter because I have fresh broccoli and I don’t want it to go off)
Last-minute game set-up
Run game
I might get to relax some on Monday, but that depends on whether I get all of that done over the proper weekend. I’m not going out until a little later because lunchtime around Peckham is made of ass most of the time and I was kind of hoping to pop in to Primark to see what they’ve got for bralettes, and possibly socks. Easier to do that when the crowd isn’t threatening to eat me.
Most of the above is being sorted out by how much room I’m going to have in the fridge and freezer at any given time, by the way. Currently my freezer contains three bags of frozen veg (broccoli, peas, mixed veg), one bag of frozen hash browns, one bag of gluten-free onion rings, two boxes of potato waffles, chicken for the planned chicken broccoli pasta bake, one package of ground beef (for the lasagne; the one for the cottage pie’s already defrosting), two gluten-free, dairy-free ice cream cones, and two servings of risotto. That’s a lot for my tiny freezer, and one of the first things I did today was play Tetris to sort it all out. I do need to clean out the fridge because some things are past their expiry date, and that plus the stuff I’m using for the cottage pie will leave enough room for my jars of pickles.
Anyway, all that to say that my weekends don’t involve a whole lot of ‘rest’. I like being active, is all. Of course, being active is actively painful most of the time, but honestly, my tolerance for pain is ludicrously high at the moment. So at least I can take joy in doing the things I love, even if it’s a little ill-advised sometimes.

My Sweater | Tom Hiddleston x Reader
Tumblr media
Pairing: Tom Hiddleston x Reader
Summary:  You both said some stupid things but when you brought up his past relationship you took it too far. Now you are at home dealing with the aftermath of the break-up with rom-com movies and ice cream when a knock on the door brings an unexpected guest.
Warnings: fluff, slight angst
-
For the last three weeks in a row, you had spent your weekend hunkered down in your apartment, drowning your sorrows in pints of ice cream. Everything had been going perfectly. You were dating the man of your dreams and the relationship had been going fantastic. And then your stupid mouth got in the way. To be fair, you had both said hurtful things but you had made the deepest cuts. As you tend to do when you are angry but know you are in the wrong, you resorted to attacking the other person.
“I should have known better than to get involved with someone who would date a…pop star.”
Those last two words were dripping with contempt and disdain. You knew it would hurt him and hurt him deep. His relationship with her had always been a sore spot and pretty much off limits.
“GET… OUT!” Tom bellowed and gestured wildly towards the door.
His face was an unappealing shade of red and his nostrils were flared. You were so taken aback that you gathered your purse and phone and stormed towards the door. But you couldn’t stop from taking one more jab.
“You will regret this Hiddleston, I swear it!”
And with that you slammed the door behind you.
But he hadn’t regretted it, you had. By the next morning, your head cleared and you realized how stupid you had been. You had tried calling him to apologize but he was screening your calls. And certainly he wasn’t answering his door. Hell, even Luke wouldn’t give you the time of day. So you resigned yourself to moping around your apartment and watching crap romantic comedies on the TV. Oh and an enormous amount of ugly crying and junk food was on the agenda as well. You hadn’t changed your clothes in days. You had found one of Tom’s sweaters in your room, left behind after one evening. It still smelled of his cologne. You had taken to wearing it constantly, even to bed.
Just as you finished When Harry Met Sally and were getting ready to start While You Were Sleeping, you heard a knock on the front door. You had not been expecting any of your friends coming over. Although for the first few days a virtual parade of friends appeared to commiserate with you over the break-up. But that had stopped a while ago.
You peeked through the spy hole to see a tall lanky male figure standing at your door, holding a box. Shit. It was Tom.
You quickly wiped away the tear trails off your cheeks and prayed your breath was passable. Taking a deep breath, you opened the door to face the music.
Tom had turned to leave but you called out to stop him.
“Hey.”
“I have your stuff,” he responded coldly.
He shoved the box into your hands. You didn’t realize it had come to this. This break-up was really happening.
“Come in. I will get your stuff together,” you replied.
You left the door opened and he followed. He stood in the living room as though he had never been there before. awkwardly looking around. Tom could see the aftermath of your fight on you. The trash bin was overflowing with candy wrappers and ice cream cartons. There were crumpled Kleenex strewn about the couch and coffee table as well several empty soda cans and coffee mugs.
His mood soften just a bit. He had come over with every intention of ending the relationship. He had thought you heartless and rigid and as an actor he needed a partner who could be flexible and understanding. But surveying your home, he knew he had it all wrong. This had a devastating effect on you.
You emerged from your bedroom with a small box of items. You were sniffling and it was clear you had been crying while gathering the belongings in the bedroom. Even at your worst, Tom still found you adorable.
“Here is your stuff. I’m not sure if it is all of it, But if I find anything else, I will just mail it out to you. “
You sighed deeply and mustered the last of your courage and dignity to say what you needed to. It was now or never.
“Listen Tom, I know I was out of line. And I have no excuse other than it is what I always do but still I should not have said what I said. I am so sorry. I know you are done with me. But I just want you to know I would give anything to take it back and start over,” you said rapidly.
You took a couple of deep breath as tears began welling up in your eyes as the last of your composure crumbled in front of the man you had fallen in love with. You turned so Tom wouldn’t see you crying.
“My sweater.” he replied.
Without turning, you asked, “ Your sweater?”
“Yes, you are wearing my sweater. It is my favorite and I would like it back, please.”
You were shocked at his reaction. You had expected something more than just a request for his sweater. A response, more yelling, something. But this was so cold, so unlike the Tom you knew. What you couldn’t see was the small grin on Tom’s face and the subtle shake of shoulders as he stifled his laughter.
Back still turned you took off the sweater, leaving you in just your bra and underwear. Feeling self-conscious, you wrapped your arms around your body as you handed the sweater over your shoulder. You had resisted the urge to throw it in his face.
“There you go. That’s everything. Now if there is nothing else, you know the way out and have a good life.”
Tom cleared his throat.
“Actually there is something else…”
You whipped around, interrupting him.
“What else can you possibly take from me? I am standing here bare both physically and emotionally. You have literally taken the clothes off my back,” you sobbed.
Tom chuckled and stepped forward, pulling a handkerchief from his pants pocket. He wiped the tears from your face and placed a soft kiss on each of your cheeks.
“What I was saying before you interrupted me. Again. Was that I need you to shower and put some proper clothes on, so we can go to a coffee shop to talk about this relationship going forward.”
Your jaw dropped open.
“What are you saying?”
He smiled and placed a chaste kiss on your lips.
“I am saying let’s try again. We can’t start over but we can move forward. But it will take better communication…from both of us. So get dressed before I change my mind,” he smiled and you smiled back.
You hustled off to the bathroom to wash the weeks of inertia and self-loathing off you. While you were in there, Tom cleaned up the living room and kitchen and as you emerged in clean jeans and t-shirt, he was just started your dishwasher.
“Ready.”
You grabbed your purse and Tom led you out the building. You were happy to be out and with Tom and you were eternally grateful for this second chance. You promised yourself not to squander it.

You lost count over how long you have been running, trying to lose your boyfriend, no, ex-boyfriend in the crowd. It’s a cowardly move, yeah, but you needed the time to process everything slowly. After all, getting dumped in an amusement park is the last thing you expect to happen.
When you’re sure the prick isn’t hot on your trail anymore, you head to the Ferris wheel, bypassing the waiting line easily before a group of people joins in behind you. You enter a moving carriage quickly and settle on its seat.
Exhaustion settles over you, and you’re about to go on a crying fest when you notice another passenger sits across from you. You blink rapidly, stopping your tears from falling and letting out a sigh instead.
You suppose it’s better than having more people in the carriage. The stranger barely gives you a look as he’s focused on taking photographs of the view outside.
The carriage makes its way to the top, and your glassy gaze remains on the window on your side. Everything looks bright and lively, which contrasts with what you’re feeling right now as your heart weighs heavily inside your chest.
Today is supposed to be your first anniversary with your ex. You were so excited when he planned to go to the amusement park to celebrate today. Until he decided to throw the “it’s not you, it’s me” bomb on you when you damn well knew it has got to do with that chick he’s been texting recently.
After dumping your snow cone and flipping the finger on his face, you ran into the crowd, not once looking back as he called your name.
Your mind engulfs you deep into your own world when the stranger in front of you clears his throat. You blink in confusion. “Yes?”
“The ferris wheel has technical issues. So, we’re stuck for the time being.”
“What?”
“Yeah, and— uh, are you okay, miss?”
“Huh?”
The stranger looks flustered as he points out, “You’re crying...” Your hand instinctively touches your wet cheek then quickly puts an attempt to wipe your tears. “Here,” he says gently, offering you a kleenex. You take it, muttering ‘thanks’ before dabbing it on your face while sniffling.
The chatter of people from below fills the silence in the carriage as you stare out the window, adamant to not meet the stranger’s eyes with your puffy ones.
“Have you tried the cotton candy from the food stall near the castle?” You glance at the stranger, who’s looking out of the window too. “There’s some churros and ice cream if I’m not mistaken. God, now all I can think of is food since I haven’t eaten all day.” He pouts, patting on his stomach.
As if on cue, his stomach rumbles loudly, and he lets out a sheepish chuckle. “Sorry, I didn’t know it’ll be that loud.”
You let out a chuckle. “That’s okay.”
The air feels warmer between the two of you, and he extends a hand to you. “I’m Hoseok, by the way.”
“Y/N…” You reply, taking his hand in yours.
“So, Y/N… Since we’re still stuck here, do you want to see some pictures I’ve taken?” He lifts his camera in emphasis, his smile never leaving his face.
You gape at him for a moment before nodding reluctantly.
“But you have to be honest, okay?” He clarifies as he shows you the first picture. And you let out a bark of laughter. “Shit!” He changed the screen quickly. “I wasn’t supposed to show you that.”
A small smile stays on your lips. “You look good though.”
“I do, huh?” He grins at your reaction. “I always took pictures of people, but never myself. So, I have been trying to take a selfie with my camera.”
“Why don’t you use your phone? Isn’t it easier?”
He shakes his head. “The quality from my camera looks way better than my phone.”
Then Hoseok continues to show you all the other pictures he took. You are amazed at how he can make everything in the amusement park photogenic—all except the failed selfies he took.
“Um, if you want I can take a picture of you here? Since you know, we’re stuck at the top of the ferris wheel, might as well take advantage of it,” you ramble. “But it’s okay if you don’t want to since uh, expensive camera and all its hard to trust strangers—”
“Sure,” he answers quickly, moving to sit right next to you as he loops the strap of the camera on your neck. “It’s easy to use this. Just press this button and—“
You nod at his instructions, focusing on the camera so hard despite his proximity until you can smell his musky, fresh scent. Hoseok then moves back to his original seat, leaning closer to the window. You adjust the angle of the camera and count down from three. “Say ‘cheese’!”
Hoseok giggles and repeats it. “Cheese!”
After the shutters close with a click, he sits beside you excitedly as you hand him his camera. “Wow! For a beginner, you sure do know your angles.”
“Thanks,” you chuckle, standing up to move across from him. Not a moment later, the carriage starts to move again, causing you to yelp as you stagger back.
“Whoa! Be careful, Y/N!” Instead of finding yourself on the seat again, you find yourself on Hoseok’s lap. One arm holding his camera and the other wrapping around your waist, keeping you steady.
“Shit, I’m so sorry!” You move quickly to the seat across.
“It’s okay,” he laughs at your flustered state. “Glad you didn’t hurt yourself, though.”
The carriage arrives at the bottom quickly, and you find yourself disappointed in having to bid Hoseok farewell. You never expect to be comfortable with someone new so fast. But his presence manages to cheer you up after what happened between you and your ex.
Stepping out of the carriage, you make a beeline to the exit gate with Hoseok following suit. You turn to him, giving him a genuine smile.” So, I guess this is where we say goodbye?”
For a moment, Hoseok stares at you in wonder. Your sentence seems to register inside his head quite late as he flounders, “Oh! Uh… It doesn’t have to be.” He scratches the back of his neck in embarrassment. “I mean, we can still go to the food stall together if you’d like? Or is that too creepy with someone you just met? I—”
“Okay,” you agree.” I’ll go with you to grab something to eat.”
And you swear his chocolate eyes brighten up instantly,” Great—! I mean, cool, okay, I’ll uh, show you where the cotton candies are—” He blabbers as you watch him in amusement. “And the ice cream! They say sweets make pretty girls smile!” He realises what he said before he shakes his palms rapidly. “I’m not talking about you, not that you aren’t pretty. In fact, you’re beautiful especially when you smile. Shit, I don’t mean to sound creepy! I swear I’m not; I’m just a freelance photographer!”
You giggle at his ramblings. “I get what you mean, Hoseok.”
He barely can look at you afterwards, eyes glancing everywhere but you. By the time you reach the food stalls, his face is burning. You chortle at his cute reaction.
After spending time with him in the Ferris wheel, somehow, the heavyweight in your heart gradually lightens. Yes, you still can feel the ache inside, but Hoseok seems to know how to ease them with his antics. And you know he purposely showed you his bad selfie, which is merely taken in a weird angle because selfies with that face can never go wrong.
So, as you’re waiting for the ice cream, you nudge him gently, earning his attention. He holds your stare even when his eyes are shaking, and you smile at him. “Thank you, Hoseok. I really needed this.”
He grins back. “Anything to make you smile.”

With practice coming to a conclusion at a quarter after five, Suna’s first instinct was to check his phone before entering the shower, a choice that earned him several comments from his fellow team-mates. The middle blocker dismissed the artificial groans and insults with a lazy smile and a little shrug to indicate his lack of care towards their opinions. Though, any humour that could be traced along his features instantly vanished when he saw a missed call and text from your parents. For a moment, he simply stared at the lockscreen, cursing internally as he clenched his jaw. He knew you were sick, but not that sick. Last night you complained about a headache that stretched across your forehead, but he assumed that was prompted by lack of sleep. Clearly, he was wrong. Why else would your parents be calling him and texting him?
After sending a text to reassure your parents that he would be heading over immediately, the volleyball player placed his phone into his bag then proceeded towards the locker-room to retrieve the remainder of his belongings. It only occurred to him after his shower that he may have accidentally lied to your parents, he wouldn’t immediately be heading to your apartment. He had one stop to make first, that is to purchase a few items that would be essential to nurse you back to health.
When he did finally reach your apartment, two plastic bags were draped against his wrists as he fished for his keys in his pocket. Based on the information provided by your parents, your roommate was currently on a trip, so he elected to skip the curtsey of knocking. Truthfully, even if he did knock, the sound would not have registered on your ears.
Once the front door was ushered open, his eyes naturally landed upon the limp figure resting upon the couch. There were dozens of discarded tissues decorating the ground around you, resembling a collection of discarded papers by an overachieving writer.
It took you a few seconds to notice that someone had entered the apartment.
You blinked your heavy eyelids in extended intervals, struggling to determine the identity of the intruder. Only when your boyfriend was stood a few paces away from you were you able to connect the missing pieces.
“Rin… are you wearing three masks? Your ears are red.” Pressing your elbows into the cushion supporting you, an attempt was made to bring yourself into a seating position. Seconds later, when your arms caved from the pressure, a groan exited your mouth. When the hell did the world drop an elephant on you? And why!?
“Glad to know you can still see, y/n.” The sarcastic remark was issued in a higher volume, to account for the fact there were three layers of fabric acting as a barrier. By the pout registering on your lips, he had to resist the urge to tug on your cheeks, like he usually did. Even with the visible signs of illness adorning your features, he still found you sickly adorable.
With Suna biting back a snicker at the clever remark he made to himself, your pout only became more exaggerated.
“I’m on my deathbed and you’re still sassing me.” Whining out your words, you removed the Kleenex box from your chest, relocating it to your face.
“There’s only so much I can do in the circumstances.” Suna shook his head, exhaling a sigh at your attempt to hide from him, before removing the cardboard piece from your face and placing it onto the coffee table. “So, tell me. Did you eat?” As the question was posed, his gaze wandered away from you, towards the kitchen where the takeout he bought was sitting on the counter. Your appetite would usually become non-existent whenever you were ill, but there were certain foods you could not refuse. And he made note to only invoke this trap card whenever you were ill or upset at him.
“Yes.” Rubbing your eyelids, you battled a yawn causing your features to contort. Thankfully he missed the not-so-pleasant sight. What he did catch, however, was how the affirmation was spoken in a slightly higher pitch.
“…Anything beside painkillers?” The expression that was now on his visage was emanating suspicion with a touch of disappointment. If you weren’t completely drained, you would have asked him if he was your mother.
“…No.” To spare yourself from the irritation that would likely be sparking in your boyfriend’s eyes, you shifted on the couch, turning your attention to the back pillows. But the black-haired male had known your answer even before it left your lips, and there was no irritation present in his irises. Rather, there was determination – all he wanted was for you to feel some sort of relief.
“Alright, let’s get started on that then.”
Tumblr media
The middle blocker plated the meal in a manner that radiated elegance, and even managed to write ‘get well soon’ with a chocolate syrup. You never understood why syrups would be used at fine dining establishments. Outside of aesthetic purposes, they were useless. How were you supposed to eat it? Were you supposed to lick the damn plate?
But you appreciated the sentiment behind your boyfriend’s attempt, though you wished he would have accompanied it with some ice cream…
“Thank you, Rin.” The expression of gratitude was partially incoherent as you kept the spoon tucked inside of your mouth. Maybe it was the delicious food that brought your taste buds to sing in joy, but for the first time all day, you felt strong enough to bear a smile. “Are you gonna stay the night wiff – with me?”
“Yes, I’ll stay the night ‘wiff you’. How else will I make sure you don’t die?” Suna lifted his attention from the fibres of the carpet below him, continuing to tug at the individual threads absentmindedly. He knew maintaining a safe distance was required under the circumstances, but he was itching to wrap his arms around you.
“Aw. You don’t want me to die.” Removing the utensil from your mouth, you waved it in the air, with excitement.
“If that’s surprising to you, I’m seriously concerned.” The action brought him to raise an eyebrow, as his eyes followed the movement of the spoon.
“It’s not, it’s not.” A gentle laugh pushed past your lips as you shook your head to sooth his concerns. After lowering the spoon onto the empty plate, curiosity took reign over your tongue. “But I gotta ask. Did you only come because my parents called you?”
“No, idiot.” His response was stated with a scoff of disbelief. While time management was certainly not his forte, nothing was more important than your health. “I came because I’m here for you through sickness and through health… Or whatever way that saying goes.” The cheesiness of the retort only dawned on the middle blocker after it was vocalized. And unfortunately, he would not be granted the opportunity to recover from it.
Upon hearing his explanation, your heightened emotions instantly brought liquid to form at your waterline – a sight that Suna Rintarou was not prepared for. As a whine sounded within your throat, he presented his best poker face, to mask the emotions chewing on his stomach.
“Shut up.” The command was exhaled with an artificial grunt as he forced his gaze to the carpet that he was viciously picking at.
“Rin!” Curling your fingers into a fist, you rubbed at your eyelids roughly, reminding yourself that you were not allowed to touch him until you were better. But maintaining distance was an onerous task when your boyfriend was spewing a freaking marriage vow.
“Let me finish.” He mistakenly assumed that you were declaring his name in protest, not because you were suffocating in adoration towards him. “Shut up and get better so I can kiss you when you make that damn face. Alright?” A faint smile tugged at the ends of his lips as he propped an elbow against his thigh in order to rest his cheek against his folded fingers.
Needless to say, between his clarification and the smile gracing his lips, the amount of liquid parading down your cheeks increased substantially.
Sure, you were in pain, but you were also so damn happy.

We’re living better than we did last night
Hournite Week 2021
 Day 5: First Date/First Kiss  ~.~
“Thanks for dropping me off,” Beth says again when Rick parks in the Whitmore-Dugan driveway. Her hands twist the leather strap of the purse in her lap. Rick leans back and cuts the engine completely.
She feels pressure. Stupid pressure.
Not from Rick. No, Rick is amazing. He drove her out of town that afternoon and they went on a walk by the lake. She tucked Chuck into her cute backpack purse for moral support, but didn’t want to impose her goggles on Rick on their date, so she never took him out--until Rick suggested she should. That was the moment Beth let go of her nerves and had fun at the lakeside. They collected rocks and shells together and analyzed their properties to have something to talk about. Then Rick rented a canoe to settle lazily on the water in the sun and relaxed. Beth packed lunch for the both of them and Rick got ice cream, then they took the leisurely drive home.
It’s not Rick, making Beth shift in her seat under pressure. It’s the way she knows the date has come to an end, and doesn’t want Rick to go.
“I know it’s a bit weird, not inviting you in but they wanted us to have a sleepover and I wish you could come but it would be weird, right?” She nods to herself and scrunches up her nose, just thinking about the lack of privacy they’d have if Rick joined Yolanda and Court for a living room late night session right after their date. It would be uncomfortable and awkward and Beth wouldn’t know what to do.
“It’s okay.” Rick interrupts gently. “Court wants to gossip about me with you. I get it.”
His gaze sweeps over her as she calms. “But I’ll see you tomorrow?”
“Yes,” she promises. She flattens out her hands to stop fidgeting and raises her head. Her heart pounds and she swallows hard in the silence when neither of them move.
“Do you--”
“If you’d like--”
She titterrs, blushing at the way they spoke over each other.
Rick’s smile grows a little wan. “You go first.”
“Alright.” She lets out her shaky breath. Here it goes. “Do you want to kiss?”
“Oh!” He genuinely looks surprised.
Beth backpedals. “I mean we don’t have to, if you’re not comfortable. Or don’t want to.” She bites her lip and glances aside, mortified. “I’m sorry. I just…” She peeks at him again. “I want to, if you do. I’m just...shy.”
“You?” he says. “Shy?”
“About this, yes,” Beth whispers honestly. “What were you going to say?”
“I was going to say…” Rick inches closer. “That nobody makes me feel the way you do.”
Beth grins. “That wasn’t what you were going to say!”
He raises his hands. “Yes, it was! I was going to say, if you’d like, we could be officially together?”
Beth springs forward in her seat, wrapping her arms around his neck. “Yes!”
His shoulders sag underneath her and that soothes her heart. He’s also nervous, but he shouldn’t be. She’s known this was coming for a long time. It just doesn’t make it any less scary. When she pulls back, it’s not very far. Just enough to see his nose and moving eyes as they dart back and forth, watching her the same.
Beth’s phone rings in her purse. She doesn’t need to look at it to know it’s Courtney. “Wanna bet she’s being pulled away by Yolanda from trying to spy?”
“God, I hope not.” Rick cups her face with one hand, running his thumb just along the curve of her thick glasses to stroke her cheek. “They don’t need to see this.”
Beth imagines kissing Rick so many times, it’s become second-nature. She’s pictured them on the couch in the Pit Stop, inches apart, drawing closer to each other like magnets. She envisioned Hourman interlocking her gloved-fingers with his and twirling her around in the last moments of his day’s boosted strength, sweeping Dr. Mid-Nite  off her feet. She hoped for a quiet moment before school in this very car, checking in her courage balance for a stolen peck on his lips.
Rick’s the one that gasps when her mouth is on his. A wave of confidence ebbs through her every corner and smoothes her poise. She tilts her neck up to find a right angle and closes her eyes. His thumb presses down lightly on her face, returning everything she gives. Everything she’s ever imagined comes alive in the moment. She realizes there are no better dreams than this. The pressure melts away, Beth melts away. She feels his smile and initiates another kiss.
When they finally part, she’s still lightheaded. The crisp night air hits her aching face as she reluctantly climbs out of Rick’s car.
~.~
“Finally!” Courtney jumps on her the second the front door is closed. “How was it? Did you do it? You were in the car for a long time. Did he kiss you? He totally kissed you. You look like you’re not even here.”
“Court! Don’t bombard her!” Barbara scolds from the kitchen.
“Hi.” Beth takes her time walking in, still dazed and amazingly inarticulate. “Um. Can I put my bag down?”
“So is he your boyfriend? Where did he take you? Are you in love yet?” Courtney dramatically flops over on the couch in the living room, bouncy hair flinging over the edge. “Please tell me you’re in love.”
Yolanda pads over in her slippers and takes Beth’s bag. “You can change in the bathroom, we found your pyjamas from the last time you slept over.”
Beth nods. Barbara calls for Courtney to help her with brownies in the oven. Court groans and gets up. “You’re telling us everything when I get back,” she warns.
Beth pulls her legs up on the armrest chair and grins into her knees.
“You’re a bit googly-eyed there, B.” Yolanda smirks. “Doing okay?”
“Mmhmm.” She looks up again when she gets pelted by a soft plasticky thing.
“You might wanna take care of that before Courtney comes back and notices.”
Yolanda uncrosses her arms over her black hoodie and points at the package of kleenex on the ground.
Beth frowns at it, confused. “Hm?”
“Your lip gloss is half smeared off.”
“Oh.” Beth burns and takes the kleenex. “Thanks.”

PAIRING: guardian angel!taehyun x fem!reader
GENRE: guardian angel au, soulmate au, fluff, angst
WC. 3,000+
WARNINGS: minor alcohol usage, mild language, feeling of loneliness
SYNOPSIS: Kang Taehyun, a sassy, young guardian angel, didn’t think anyone could be more of an absolute mess… boy, was he mistaken.
PART ONE || PART TWO || INTERLUDE || PART THREE
.
As you sobbed into your pillow while simultaneously inhaling ice cream, Taehyun was a world away, absentmindedly picking a piece of lint from his left wing. Not long after, he was standing in front of Soobin, an elder, receiving yet another assignment to none other than you, Little Miss Crying Mess, who’d already gone through an entire box of Kleenex in an hour.
His job was easy (and he’d be lying if he didn’t think himself a pro): silently look after you, keep you from harm, and do his absolute best to make you happy. But you would make that extremely difficult for him. When he glanced through your extensive profile, he didn’t think anyone could be more of an… in nicer terms...
Absolute fucking mess.
Like good God, yes, your boyfriend (ex-boyfriend, now) cheated on you, but that was a month and a half ago, and you weren’t even with him that long. So why could you not shut up and stop crying?
Taehyun wasn’t supposed to think this, guardian angel and all, but what was he supposed to do? You had raccoon eyes from your dried mascara and a pending noise complaint from your neighbor across the hall.
Funnily, the first time he ever saw you, he felt his jaw drop. Although you were possibly the ugliest crier he’d ever seen (and he’d been alive for a millennium and a half), he saw past that. He awed over your piercing eyes which held so much life in them; your adorably round face that was puffy from all your crying; your silky hair which he wanted to run a hand through.
He felt his heart yearn for you, like you were a magnet pulling him in.
In his first week on the job, he felt nothing but pity and sadness for you. The way you seemed so lifeless and drained had him motivated to mend your aching heart. Of course, you didn’t see or feel his presence; he worked tirelessly and quietly, doing small stuff to make you smile. For example, he’d slip a $20 in your pocket every once in a while for you to find when doing laundry (you never found them, and he was out $80 by the end of the week). He also gradually refilled your bare fridge with your favorite food, hoping you’d eat them and feel a semblance of joy, but you never touched it. Instead, each meal was a piece of toast (and occasionally a handful of Goldfish) and an entire bottle of wine.
He prayed for your liver.
His second week, he felt even more determined to see your beautiful smile. However, without his help, you had finally decided to take a shower and mosey your way back into society, a decision he was grateful for since you were beginning to resemble a dying gerbil. He accompanied you to your local coffee shop, following closely behind as you weaved between people on the sidewalk, oblivious to you, of course. The day was going well for you; the barista accidentally sized up your order, the jazz band in the park played your favorite song, and you felt the warm sun on your face for the first time in a long while. That is, until you ran into an old friend and found out she recently became engaged.
He practically saw your flip switch as you plastered on a fake smile and acted as if you were fine. When you finally left, you couldn’t even make it halfway to your apartment before you were breaking down once more.
His third week was when he decided to take on a more drastic measure. When he re-read your profile to find a list of your core memories, he realized you had a lot of love for snow and snowfall. So he made it snow.
In the middle of June.
Nonetheless, he completely ignored the fact that it was a logistical nightmare, thinking it was a perfect idea, sure to bring a smile to your gorgeous face. When you woke up the next morning, feeling extra chilly, Taehyun felt giddy, especially as you moped over to your window and watched the crystalline snow fall from Heaven. He felt proud, especially when he noticed a single tear cascade down your cheek; he believed he overwhelmed you with such happiness, you cried. But when he heard you mumble something like a ‘Yeonjun loved snow,’ and crawl back into bed, he widened his eyes, plopped himself on your desk, and gave up. Not only did he have to deal with a crying you (again), he also had the entire city population wondering why the hell it was snowing in the middle of summer.
Most of his fourth week was spent on your floor, playing with your dog, devising a new plan to cheer you up, and waiting for you to wake, as you spent most of your day sleeping… though he preferred you asleep since it meant you weren’t crying. Rather than feeling that pity and empathy from his first day on the job, each time you shed a tear, he found himself growing more and more irritated, so when you cried again for the eighth time that week, he had enough. He undid his glamour which kept him hidden and made himself visible to you. He fixed himself a sandwich, sat on your desk, and waited patiently for you to notice his presence.
Much like any sane person, when you saw a random, unknown boy aggressively eating a sandwich and watching you from less than six feet away, you screamed bloody murder (which was the reason behind the second noise complaint from your neighbor). You scrambled to the opposite side of your bed and balled your hand into a fist while the other reached for a firm, weighty object, as if that was going to protect you from what you believed was about to be certain death.
“STAY BACK!”
“Y/N, Y/N, it’s okay, it’s okay. Let me explain myself,” he tried reasoning as he slowly approached you as one would approach a flighty deer. You reached for every pillow you could and hurled them his way. As he busied himself dodging them, you sprinted from your bedroom to the front door, but just as you reached for the doorknob, he appeared from literal thin air in front of you, making you scream even louder.
He grabbed your shoulder in an attempt to calm you but that just heightened your fear. You thrashed around in an attempt to escape, ignoring how his grip on you was outrageously strong.
Almost inhuman.
When you finally took in his massive, iridescent wings, a small part of your brain put it all together. The other part of your brain, however, was on fire and assumed he was a nutjob hellbent on killing you.
“Shh, it’s okay,” he whispered, letting go of your shoulder.
You made another failed attempt at reaching for your doorknob. This time, he grabbed your hand.
“I’m not here to kill you.”
Your eyes narrowed and your body relaxed (barely).
“My name is Taehyun and I’m an angel. Your angel, actually.” He spun around, showcasing his golden wings.
You let out an inappropriate snort, which was quickly replaced by a choke as he began moving closer toward you. Your body stilled and you screwed your eyes shut.
You felt nothing but the cool tip of his wing brush against your arm as he moved by you. After a long minute of silence, you took a deep breath to calm yourself and hesitantly opened one eye, just to be met with the sight of him comfortably spread across your couch. He mindlessly picked at the fabric of your favorite throw pillow and threw a leg across your coffee table. He seemed all too familiar with your apartment, which was a frightening realization. You watched him with bated breath as he merely glanced over your trembling figure, tilting an eyebrow. He seemed disinterested… almost bored.
You shuffled behind your kitchen counter, making sure to put plenty of distance between you both, and once you were sure there was enough space, you took him in. He was breathtaking, to say the least. His perfectly pink lips, razor-sharp jaw, defined nose, bright eyes, and high cheekbones, it was like he was sculpted by God himself. You must’ve stared too long because you saw his lips lift into a smirk. You shifted your eyes away and folded your arms across your chest defensively, “Fine, I’ll play along. Why should I believe you’re an angel?”
He tipped his head to the side and narrowed his eyes, “Are you blind? I literally have wings.”
“Which could be fake for all I know.”
He scoffed in disbelief, “I’ll have you know, these are most certainly real. Excuse me.”
You silently leaned back against the counter with a look of disinterest and pursed lips. He sighed before turning around, allowing you to see his wings begin to glow and suddenly disappear in a flash of bright light. You were left gaping as your mind ran wild, though only a single thought consumed you, “Why do I need a guardian angel? What could I possibly need one for?”
“Well, your life… um, it’s kind of ass,” he replied as if it were obvious.
Now it was your turn to be offended, “Excuse me? Who the hell are you to tell me that?”
“Your guardian angel?! A-are you deaf? Why else would I be here? You think I’ve enjoyed watching you mope around your apartment for the past month? You shower, like, once a week, and honestly, you look like a soggy rat. All you do is cry and never shut up, I can’t believe you’re even still capable of forming a tear! Actually, aside from when you’re asleep, this is the longest I’ve seen you go without breaking down sobbing!” he scolded as you stood in your kitchen, insulted by his harsh rant.
“They why stay? Go find someone else to bother, it’s not like I want you here anyway!”
You picked at a hangnail and anxiously nibbled on your bottom lip. You didn’t even know why you were so offended; he was a complete stranger. As if he knew, he shuffled over to you, close enough to reach for your hand, and surprising you both, you didn’t pull away.
“Look, I’m sorry, but like I said, your life has been hard. When your mother passed away, you had to live on your own as soon as you graduated high school, and now you can barely afford college because all of your money goes to rent. Then your boyfriend does what he did? Not to bring up old scars, but you need all the support you can get. That’s what I’m here for.”
You yanked your hand away and scoffed. ‘Not to bring up old scars,’ he says, bringing up every single scar.
“I’ve been doing perfectly fine on my own. I don’t need your help and I especially don’t need you lurking around. Please leave.” You pointed at your door before sulking back into your room.
“You’re getting my help whether you like it or not!”
That was the last thing you heard before you slammed your door.

The following week was unpleasant, to say the least. Each and every morning, you woke to his annoyingly handsome yet smug face as he sat with his feet kicked up on your desk… and this morning was no different.
“Good morning, Sunshine! You know, you’re quite the deep sleeper, your heinously loud snoring couldn’t even wake you… but it definitely woke the dead,” he cheerfully remarked, plastering on a self-satisfied smirk. You ignored him and pushed your way by his tall frame on your way to your bathroom sink. Much like the week before, he appeared from thin air and perched himself on your counter. Despite your lack of response, he continued, “We should do something fun today, maybe go get some sun? You’re looking a little… lifeless.”
He examined your body from head to toe. If you didn’t know any better, you would’ve thought he seemed concerned, but he masked it well with his smugness.
“I don’t want to go anywhere with you,” you mumbled hoarsely.
“Then don’t go with me! Call a friend or go out by yourself, I really don’t care. Just please get out,” he whiny begged. He hated seeing you cooped up in your small, dinky apartment. He wished for you to experience life again, and he especially wished to see the light return to your eyes and the bright smile he knew you kept hidden.
“No.”
Once you finished brushing your teeth, you climbed back into your warm bed and scrolled on your old phone. He clenched his jaw at your stubbornness, trying his best to stay calm. It was only 9:32 AM and you had already managed to piss him off. He knew you were headstrong, he didn’t need to read a profile on you to know that; just one day around you and he already picked up on your obstinance. He jumped off the countertop and climbed onto your bed to hover over your body. His breath fanned your nose as he trapped your body between him, wings draping over you both like a blanket. You were shocked and once again, left breathless just by being in his proximity, and you could feel your pulse rapidly increasing as he glanced down to your lips.
He leaned closer and closer, and you nearly closed your eyes, until he snatched your phone from your hand.
“You’re not getting this back until you go outside and do something. Anything. For the love of God,” he pleaded, pulling back quickly. The sudden lack of warmth snapped you out of your haze.
“Oh my God! Gimme!” you helplessly whined.
“Are you five? You know what you have to do to get your phone back.” He slapped your hand away as you tried to steal it back.
You refrained from punching him, instead narrowing your eyes as he did the same. You both had an unspoken contest until you broke first. His harsh gaze pierced you; he was too intimidating.
“Fine,” you snapped, making your way from bed to get ready for the day.

There was a small, quiet beach near your childhood home you loved visiting every once in a while. The tranquility of the ocean lapping at the shore always provided you with a feeling of peace.
Until now.
You had chosen to go out by yourself, much like Taehyun had suggested, but your plan quickly faltered when he reminded you that he would be with you regardless, either glamoured or visible. Seeing as you didn’t necessarily like the idea of him invisibly lurking around, you opted to have him visibly by your side. You’d rather see his judgment rather than feel it from afar.
So there you were, watching him smother an obnoxious amount of your expensive sunscreen onto his face as if he were a human and not a supernatural being that’s completely unaffected by UV. It’d been a week since he came into your life, or at least made his presence known, and he was already a pain in your ass.
“I have to maintain my cover somehow.”
“What?” You didn’t know what cover he was trying to maintain, his pesky wings were hidden, and overlooking his outright godly features, he looked perfectly human.
He did a poor job of rubbing the sunscreen into his skin and for the first time since meeting him, you felt a smile creep on your face. He looked like an idiot. You almost let him be since you were so amused, but you helped him out anyway. Standing on the balls of your feet and cupping his face, you began smoothing the sunscreen on. He held your waist, holding you steady, and you felt nervous from the proximity but you did your best to conceal it. He silently studied you, thinking you looked incredibly adorable as you focused on your small task, your eyes narrowing in concentration and your teeth biting into your soft lips.
He couldn’t help the way his mouth tugged into a small smile.
“All done! Now you don’t look like a ghost,” you mused.
“Thank you,” he snorted, releasing his firm grip. Instinctually, he kept himself hovered around you, though, never really creating a noticeable distance.
You were thankful he pushed you to leave your apartment, but you knew you could never tell him that. You just knew he was the type to constantly bombard you with ‘I told you so’, and you’d never hear the end of it.
The rest of the day, he watched as you laid on your blanket and basked in the sunlight, eventually getting up to walk the shoreline. You kept yourself occupied as you searched the sand for pretty shells and dainty rocks, and Taehyun forced himself to keep his distance, not wanting to disturb your peace. This was the calmest he had seen you since he was first assigned and he felt so grateful; he didn’t show it but he couldn’t bear seeing you in pain. Yes, your crying was growing extremely irritating, and yes, the pile of used Kleenex beside your bed was beginning to disgust him, nonetheless, he wanted to see you happy.
When you stopped to blankly stare at the vast ocean, he could’ve sworn he could feel your pain, the way your heart ached, the way your mind was heavy with despair. The pain he felt wasn’t one of heartbreak though, rather… loneliness.
In fact, all of your pain stemmed from feeling completely alone.
He quickly made his way over to your side and grabbed your much smaller hand in his—he wanted you to know you weren’t alone anymore. You didn’t turn to him, rather you kept your eyes trained on the sun beginning to set on the horizon. You leaned your head on his shoulder and closed your eyes, relishing in his warmth and the crisp tide washing over your feet.
For reasons he still had yet to decipher, he yearned to always be by you, protecting you, making no harm ever came your way again. He tried shaking off the feeling as doing his job properly, but something in the back of his mind told him this was different.
Something about you was different.
And he could quite literally feel it in his heart.
