You just sat on your chair, contemplating life while deciding if you even wanted to live it

This is so humiliating.

Just when you thought your day couldn't get worse, you got a notification from someone you would rather die than talk to.

There is no fucking way.

Y/N stared at their phone screen, frozen.

" Funny how you kept whining about how overrated I was, wanna talk about those stories you've made? "

No. No. No.

The words burned into your brain as you read them over and over again. Scaramouche. THE Scaramouche.. The idol you dragged through the mud on countless streams and tweets. The same idol who was, apparently, now aware of your other identity.. the anonymous fanfiction writer who had single-handedly written half the internet’s “Scaramouche x Reader” content. The same person who shitted on him so much time!

You dropped your phone onto the desk and buried your face in your hands. Nope. This isn’t real. This is all a dream. It can’t be real. Why would it be real? There’s no way this is real. But when you peeked through your fingers, the message was still there, on the phone like it demanded your attention.

“Why.. why is this happening to me?” you whispered to yourself. Your brain was screaming at you to respond, but also screaming at you to jump out of your window where you could die or move to the countryside and become a farmer. But your fingers refused to move. What could you even say?

" Haha, just a prank, broski! " No, too weird. Who the hell says that.

" That wasn't me!.. " Yeah, because your whole stream was definitely ai generated.

No, none of this would work.

Maybe you could ignore it. Pretend you didn’t see the message. But what if he posted about it? What if he already had? But, he couldn't right?! He's an idol.. but just out of paranoia, you frantically opened Twitter, scanning his feed. Nothing. Yet.

Dropping your phone back onto the desk, you screamed into your hands begging to be taken out. But you were going through that crisis, your phone buzzed again. Another message.

“Oh no, oh no, oh no,” you muttered as you grabbed their phone.

Please don't be him again.

" I have to say, you’ve got quite the imagination. Because some of those scenarios? Bold. "

Your soul left your body. He read them. He actually read them. How many? Which ones? Did he see the one where he- no. nope, nope, nope. don't you dare think about that.

Your thumbs hovered over the keyboard, shaking. After a deep breath, you typed something anything- to atleast be able to solve this issue!

“ I can explain? 😁.. "

The response was immediate.

You let out a strangled noise somewhere between a groan and a scream. Why did he have to be so smug about this?! This was his fault!, with his stupid face and his stupid voice and his stupid way of being the perfect material to write about! This is all his fault he knows damn well how he's acting In front of the camera does he expect no one to be taking one for the team and writing about him?!

“Look,” you typed, trying to sound calm, “it’s not like I’m the only one who writes this stuff. You just happened to find mine. "

His reply came in less than ten seconds.

“ Not hard to find when you've basically written half of the internet's fanfiction about me. "

You nearly chucked your phone across the room. Yes, death is definitely a better option, where's the nearest window? You couldn't even think straight before you typed back and sent

“You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?” you shot back

“ Oh, absolutely. This is the best thing I’ve seen all week. Do you always write such... intense stuff, or was it just for me? "

There's no coming back from that. You groaned, slamming your head onto the desk. There was no way you were living this down. Ever.

Driven by emotions instead of rationality, you texted back.

Another buzz.

You let out a soundless scream, shoving your chair back and pacing around the room, making laps as you ran around the house. Ignoring the continuous buzz of notifications erupting from your phone, you finally sat down from running laps and thought to yourself, knowing you just pulled yourself in a hole you sure as hell won't be escaping anytime soon.

Do you have any tips on how to study an artist style because I haven't been able to find a video on YouTube to help me☹️💔

Oof yeah Youtube usually just has the “how to find your artstyle” vids (which are all bullshit tbh but I digress)

Ok tbh I barely do art studies, so I would try and explain how I would do an artstyle study myself and hope that helps dhhxhxhx

The thing about an artstyle, is that it’s a bit unique to each person, and not just in terms of one single thing, but everything from how they do their lineart, to coloring, shading, etc

Not only that, but an artstyle changes and grows with the person as they learn more and more about their preferences, no artstyle stays the same forever

Not only that, but depending on the artist’s artstyle, it could be really easy to study cause the artist is consistent with their art, or really difficult cause the artist has no set artstyle and they change constantly

That’s why I’d say the best way to approach it is to study it bit by bit, and not to overwhelm yourself trying to take in how an artist does something all at once during practice

But the biggest thing that I’d say would make you understand another artist’s artstyle is observation

Take multiple artworks from the artist you wanna study and just take them in, observe everything about them

Do they use lineart or are they lineless, if they use lineart are their linestrokes thick or thin, is their lineart clean or is it messy, if it’s messy, how messy? Is the lineart angular or round generally? Or maybe they use both angular and round edges?

Are their lines curved or very straight? Does their line weight change in the same linestroke or does it have the same line weight throughout? Do they tend to do their lines in one single clean stroke, or do they tend to re-emphasize their lines by 2 or 3 more strokes in the same place?

What kinda brush do they seem to use? Is it a very textured brush or is it a very clean inky brush?

How do they color? Do they use bright and saturated colors or do they go for muted and dark colors? Maybe something in between? How do they shade? Do they use cell shading with hard edges, or do they use soft shading, do they blend it in or keep the edges of their colors bold and sharp? Maybe both?

How do they shape certain things? Maybe their artstyle relies heavily on rectangular shapes, maybe their artstyle shapes certain things to be round and others as cubic in the same artwork

And so on

Then after observing as many artworks by eye as you can, go for actual practice

Take a shot at trying to replicate their artstyle, it doesn’t have to be perfect, just as close as you can

Again, try it to take it one step at a time, at first try to focus on the lineart for example and nothing else, just try replicating that, just so you won’t overwhelm yourself with information and end up thinking it’s way harder than it truly is

Hell maybe you aren’t really interested to understand their lineart, maybe you like their coloring, and so just focus on how they color and try coloring the same way they do with your own art

Sometimes you get really stuck with something, or you try and replicate something and you genuinely couldn’t at all, in that case, I would say, if possible, try contacting the artist you’re trying to study the artstyle of, many artists would be happy to help where they can and give you a direct response and instructions to how they do a certain thing in their artstyle (I definitely would)

So, with all that out of the way, Imma give you an example, it’ll be a very quick example without much depth, but just to give you the general idea to use as a basis

(I’ll be using my own artstyle as an example cause idk if other artists would be comfortable with me using their art without permission dggdgdggd)

Again, this is just a very quick example, you can actually take one artwork and study it to every little detail, then work your way up to multiple artworks at a time

Chigiri: He’s canonically a moody guy…I feel like he ‘decides’ his mood for the day ykyk 😭. If it’s a clear sky, sunny day, he’ll choose to be happy but if he wakes up and it’s raining, he decides that he’s gonna be angry. Always ends up breaking character though. If he's laughing and suddenly remembers that he's supposed to be angry, he’ll immediately put on a blank expression again like 😐 and the people around him think they did something wrong LMAOO. Like??? What happened bro???

Kunigami: His go-to pose for photos is the thumbs up or the peace sign and HE LOOKS SO STIFF. He’s just there like 🙂 ✌️. He looks so awkward pls 😭. His little sister is trying so hard not to laugh and he’s just like ???? What's so funny?? Barou: When he’s eating other people's food or eating at a restaurant, he judges it like he’s Gordan Ramsey or something??? Imagine he’s at someone's house for dinner and then when they’re eating he has this whole routine. First he sniffs, feels the texture, then he examines with his eyes, and finally starts eating. You’ll tell if he likes it or not from his expressions 💀 He’ll start interrogating too LMAO. He’d be like “What kind of spice is this?” “How much salt did you add?” HE’S NOT PLAYING YALL.

Rin: Took elementary dodgeball SERIOUSLY. He’d yell at his teammates. Losing? Not on his watch. “WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING?! IT’S DODGE BALL NOT GET HIT IN THE FACE BALL YOU LOSER!”. If he ever lost a game in PE, he’d start crying and throwing a fit, all while blaming his teammates. He would act like an angel if Sae was there though LMAO.

Hiori: He tries to re-enact cool moves from video games. Like if there's a character that has a cool playstyle he’ll literally hop out of his gaming chair just to swing a spatula around 😭. He got the sound effects goin on too, you can hear little pews and booms. Or if there’s a specific voice line from the final boss that he thinks sounds cool he’ll say it out loud (sometimes his parents hear and they think that he’s lost it not that they care though.)

Karasu: He had a huge chess.com phase, probably in middle school. But he was that one kid that goes ‘I wasn’t even trying tho lol’ when he lost (behind the screen he is SCREAMING in rage). “Please don’t do that again, Alisa. It’s dangerous. I know you grew up with him, but you can’t just disappear for hours because you heard about a rolled ice cream place in San Antonio. That’s not how it works. As long as you’re in high school, you’ll be home at a reasonable hour. And you’ll text me back,” said Alisa’s father, the great “Ortega” in McNamara, Ortega, and Jones. Also known as the great pain in her ass.

She looked up from the marble floor of her father’s in-house office to look at him. To absolutely nobody's surprise, 16-year-old Nash Hawthorne was looking through the glass door behind her father’s desk. When Alisa made eye contact with him, all hope of giving her father a serious response vanished as she struggled to hold in her laughter. It wasn’t that Nash was doing anything necessarily funny, it was just that he was Nash.

Her father sighed, not even bothering to look behind him. “Go to your room, Alisa. And if I catch my client’s grandson in there, there’ll be more disciplinary action.”

Alisa walked out of the office calmly and closed the door behind her. She was able to keep a straight face until she made eye contact with Nash, who was holding in a laugh of his own. As they laughed, or in Alisa’s case, cackled, they made their way down the hall. After they’d calmed down a little bit, Nash finally spoke for the first time since they’d been intercepted pulling back into the driveway in his truck.

“You know, Li Li,” he started, eyes glinting. “We should’ve brought your dad back some of that ice cream.”

“Oh? Why’s that?”

“Maybe it would help him chill the hell out.”

They fell apart again.

Maroon caps flew in the air all around Alisa. She jumped up to catch hers before it hit the ground so she could protect the rhinestoned University of Texas logo on the back of it. She searched the sea of caps and gowns, hugging each other, crying, trying to find her person. The boy who dedicated his graduation cap to his little brothers.

The second Alisa saw Xander’s baby picture, Nash met her eyes and grinned. She knew she didn’t have much time so she rushed towards him and jumped. Even with a diploma in one hand, he caught her effortlessly.

` “We did it,” he whispered into her hair.

He set her down but kept his arms wrapped around her in a hug. After a while they broke apart to find their friends and agreed to meet back up in ten minutes by the exit to find their families.

However, when Alisa went to the exit ten minutes later, Nash was nowhere to be found. The arena was almost empty so she would’ve been able to see him if he was still there. Just as she was deciding to check outside the arena, she heard a familiar voice from the hall.

“Your grandfather is preparing you all for something greater. If he’s not here, there’s a reason for it,” said Skye Hawthorne.

“So more games, then. That’s why he’s not here. He wants to create more riddles for me to figure out. More reasons for me to never trust him again.”

Now it was Nash’s voice. Alisa knew she shouldn’t have been eavesdropping, but she knew how conversations like this ended and she just wanted to make sure he was okay.

“You know it’s not like that, Nash. He just wants to grow your mind.”

“I just graduated high school”

“And you already have 14 special skills, 2 world records in track and field, and 7 patents under your belt. And you wrote a comic book.”

“Jameson, Grayson, and Xander will have all of that and more. I want him to be proud of something I did on my own. Something I can take responsibility for. What I don’t want is for him to be proud of his ability to utilize his connections to produce mediocre work,” Nash’s voice was hardened and Alisa hated it. So she did the rational thing that any eighteen-year-old girl would do.

“Hi Skye! Have you seen my dad anywhere?” Her smile was nervous, her voice a bit too high pitched. Nash was staring at her. “He’ll want to talk to Nash, too. Since he practically raised him and all.” The dig wasn’t subtle and it wasn’t meant to be. The temporary smile Skye had painted on faltered slightly.

“Oh. Yes–um, he was over by the music hall, I believe.”

“Wonderful!” Alisa turned to her left. “Let’s go Nash!”

As she grabbed Nash’s wrist and made her way to the music hall, he caught up to her and looked at her.

“I love you, Li Li.”

She smiled.

“I love you, too.”

Nash had missed track practice (a.k.a. risked his own life) to take her to Puerto Rico, where her father was from, where he knew she always wanted to go, for spring break. They were twenty-years-old. They lived together. They loved each other. They had the ideal college romance. Straight out of a novel: athlete and honors student. He was studying Psychology and she was studying Marketing. Everything she could’ve ever wanted. 

Alisa truly thought it couldn’t get better. Until Nash was on one knee, with a beautiful ring held out. 

“Alisa Ortega. I’ve never felt at home in my family. But I’ve always felt at home around you. You bring out the best in me. You make me laugh. My family loves you. I love you. Will you marry me, Li Li.”

He was crying. She was crying. Quite literally, the only thing she could do was nod her head as her shaky hands covered her mouth. He stood up quickly to put the ring on her finger and wrap her in a bone crushing hug.

Alisa didn’t know why it still felt weird to come home for the summer. She lived in Austin. Her family lived in Austin. Her fiancè went to the same college as her. It seemed like she wouldn’t miss home at all. But, every summer, she came home to a huge house, built for ten people, but it only housed three: her and her parents. It was even worse when she visited Nash’s family: a huge house built for a hundred people and housing ten. It made her somewhat grateful the visits were becoming less and less frequent, with Nash distancing himself. Currently, they were laying on her childhood bed staring at the paper stars hanging from her ceiling.

Soon, Nash’s voice rose in the silence. “So you changed your major.”

Alisa turned towards him. “Yeah, I did.”

He stayed staring at the ceiling.

“You were studying marketing. What made you switch to Political Science?”

“Well…I mean, I…” she hesitated to tell him because she knew what his reaction would be. “I’m taking over the firm. Eventually. One day, I mean.”

He found those paper stars very interesting, considering he wouldn’t take his eyes off of them. It took Alisa a second to remember they made them together when they were seven.

“My grandfather is very central to Texas, Alisa. How would we go North?”

Alisa.

“We wouldn’t.”

Those damn stars.

“Oh. Okay.”

He was pacing. Rubbing a hand over his face, keeping the other one on his hip. He had abruptly gotten up when she had talked about moving into her childhood home after the wedding since it had the home office she needed, and now she was worried. He spun to face her.

“Alisa why don’t we just get our own home. I can drive you to work or we can hire a driver. I don’t mind.”

“Why don’t you want to move in? It’s not like we’re moving into Hawthorne House.”

“They’re always over there Li Li, and I don’t need to deal with that right now.”

“Why don’t you just talk to them, Nash. They’re your family.”\

Nash looked at her incredulously. For the first time, she saw anger in his eyes, directed at her.

“My family, Alisa? My mother stopped caring about what I did when I was 4 years old. My grandfather has more faith in my brothers than he has in me, and they haven’t even hit puberty yet. My brothers think I’ve abandoned them and my aunt, the only person who’s understood me, is now trapped in a toxic marriage with a man who isolates her from her nephews. So tell me, Alisa. What part of that is my family?”

“Why are you calling me Alisa? You’ve been calling me Li Li since we were toddlers.”

Nash looked like he didn’t know her anymore. Oh.

“Because the second you gave up on your dream to work for my grandfather, you stopped being the girl that I knew. The woman that I proposed to.”

Alisa needed to look up to stop herself from crying. It wasn’t working.

“What the hell, Nash. That’s not fair and you know it.”

“Isn’t it?”

“No. Because this is my dream. I was too scared to tell you because I know your relationship with them. But my dad offered it to me if I went to law school and I knew I was more likely to get in with a different major.”

“What happened to making our own way in the world, Alisa? What happened to breaking free from our parents?” Nash’s eyes were pleading now. Begging her to revert back to his idea of how the world should be.

“My parents never did anything but try to protect me. And clearly they were right to,” Alisa’s tone was scornful. Nash’s face hardened with realization. The same way it had graduation night.

“Fine. If that’s your dream, who am I to stop you?”

“Nash.”

“Alisa, I’m serious. You should follow your dreams. I want you to be happy. But I can’t be with you while you do it. Our relationship ends here.”

As soon as the words were out of his mouth, all of the air left Alisa’s lungs.

“I’ll pack my stuff and sleep on the couch tonight. I’ll be gone before you wake up tomorrow.”

“Nash, what?”

“Alisa it’s for the best.”

“For who? Your fear? You’ll have to specify between your fear of commitment, your fear of your grandfather, and your fear of disappointing your little brothers. Although, from the looks of it, this decision includes all three.”

“Alisa, I just can’t do this. My dream is to travel and help people. Yours isn’t. I can’t. I’ll leave tonight. I really do love you, but I can’t do this.”

And he was gone. From her life, from Austin, all of it.

He had stayed at UT to run track and field, graduated, left, and never looked back. Until now, she supposed.

She wouldn’t say it didn’t sting. Especially with the way he looked at the blue-haired girl. The way he gravitated towards her. She’d be gone soon after the will reading, but he had a way of always making girls come back. Except Alisa.

Popping by seeking your thoughts about Chapter 176: Kagome’s Heart, this specifically:

As we know, it’s a major turning point in the story. Kagome asks to stay by Inuyasha’s side, rather than leave him, the feudal era, and the jewel shard mission behind.

Now this is pure speculation, but I like to speculate. What if Kagome had left? Certainly, that’s an entirely different story, but I’m curious what you think may have happened in this scenario.

Some particular questions I have are:

Would Inuyasha have teamed up with Kikyo to try to collect shards and defeat Naraku?

Kagome was the glue that brought the Inugang together. In her absence at /this/ point of the story (the 3 year separation is different), would they have parted? As in, would Miroku, Sango, and Shippo parted ways with Inuyasha if he teamed up with Kikyo (I don’t see her being a fan of traveling with the inugang)? If so, do they fight Naraku in their smaller group, do they survive, etc.

Would Naraku/ the jewel still have been defeated?

Even *if* InuKik defeated Naraku/ the jewel (I don’t think they would have), how does the story end? Kikyo isn’t alive so she.. dies? Achieves nirvana and Inuyasha just.. grieves the rest of his life or joins her in death? I don’t see a happy ending ☹️

Oh man, this is a sad one, let me strap in with a depressing yearning/pining playlist. First off, I think this arc shows a LOT of things about both Inuyasha and Kagome's character, good and bad. Mostly good, but perhaps in bad context. Or at least very sad context. I mean we got Inuyasha going from this:

... to this:

(I know this isn't the same arc but bear with me, the character development is there and he has a similar change of heart here, for her emotional wellbeing, not just physical.) The important thing to note is Kikyou wanted to die at this point, and still to take Inuyasha with her.

And Inuyasha's response was this:

So even if it's born out of extreme guilt and trauma, I find it unlikely they would have fought Naraku at all. Kikyou talks a big game, but first chance she gets she is always trying to call Inuyasha to her side strictly to die, never for his help. (At this point.) Inuyasha more than likely would have been coerced to Hell even against his better judgement. Shippou was willing to leave the group once already without Kagome (after the Sess fight, he only came back cuz of the wolves chasing him) and Miroku is used to being a loner vagabond. Who knows what would happen to Shippou but Miroku and Sango would have likely drifted apart, encountered Naraku, and perished, even if they were together tbh. (Let's face it, Sango's pretty helpless against the Kohaku card.) Even Kagome would have been miserable having her tie to Inuyasha go unfulfilled and always regretting not knowing if everyone was still alive and safe or if she left them to their doom. So with that being said, as much as I love this scene as a pure example of her devotion to Inuyasha, there realistically WAS some pressure on her decision. I think she fully knew Kikyou intended to kill Inuyasha and that he couldn't say no because of his vulnerabilities and perceived superior love for her. (That hurts me to say but it's Kagome's POV.) That's why she had the lines about wanting him to feel like he's allowed to be happy and she wants that for him. She feels that normally, yes, but even moreso in the wake of knowing he'll likely forfeit his life. (I think the anime even emphasized this by adding her saying "You have to know that I want you to live." SOMEONE had to show him they care enough or he'd be too far gone.) The beautiful part is that Kagome DID full-on save Inuyasha's life by making her choice. Because she's unsure if she'll be able to help him enough to keep him around forever, but he's shown an uncanny desire to LIVE for her. Which obviously he continues to show again and again, and is my favorite part of their relationship. An outcast so abused and conditioned to it that the first person to care about him tells him to die and he absolutely will. But that outcast learns he wants to live way more, through interacting with unconditional love. I've said it before but Kikyou to me was always a metaphor for Inuyasha's grief and succumbing to the pain, whereas Kagome was always symbolic for a desire to live and be happy again.

This episode guys omg!!

Two things that genially surprised me where when Nolan almost killed himself due to his grief(which later paralleled Debbie☹️) and the fact that Mark was holding back.

Like I knew he obviously wasn’t trying to kill people, as the first episode showed how he didn’t even draw blood from the Mauler twins, but I didn’t expect he would be holding back so much. The stark difference in his fighting against a powerful Viltrumte was staggering.

It also shows how much Nolan actually knows Mark because he KNEW he was holding back. It wasn’t that he was just fully weak against them, he was actually holding back.

They showed up how powerful the other Viltrumite was when he bodied Nolan, so we all just assumed they were just impossible to beat but no! Mark could beat them! He just hesitated, and that hesitation led to him ultimately getting badly wounded and his dad being taken away!

And I assume Nolan wrote all about the empire and their weaknesses and stuff in his books. The first title we see is obviously referencing them, and the last one is referencing Mark. I just hope bro can find some pdfs of them so he can figure out what to do.

How the hell am I supposed to wait until next year for the episodes to start up again??

you came home as usual, nothing seeming to be wrong but it was eerily quiet. you had a bad feeling, something that you always got whenever ghostface had attacked your friends

you were always on edge ever since the attacks but even more now, something was going to happen.

suddenly your phone rings, making you jump and grab a knife just in case.

you look at the caller id, it reads quinn bailey

you scrunch your brows in confusion, wasn't quinn dead?

you slowly pick it up and put the phone on speaker

"hello?"

"hello y/n"

you froze at the voice, ghostface decided that you'd be the next victim which was not great at all because barely anyone ever survived their attacks

"what do you want?" you ask gripping the knife and going to call the police with the landline

that managed to keep them distracted and you hoped that it was a male since you knew it would hurt like hell if it was one

you ran to your room and locked the door, moving furniture against it to make sure ghostface couldn't get in

since there was a fire escape in your room, you headed towards there only to be grabbed and thrown against the floor

you clutched your wounds, which continued to bleed out, making you lose blood

ghostface looked down at your wounds and laughed, stabbing you once more

you scream out again and then just stop, causing ghostface to bend down and look at you

you watched them take out their phone and call someone, it took everything in you not to scream out and cry

just then ethan runs into the room looking at ghostface

"quinn what the fuck did you do to her?!" ethan said as he ran to your body, clutching you close to him

you felt him put your face to his chest, cradling you closely as ghostface or quinn laughs

"well ethan you were too distracted by her, it was clear you weren't going to kill her so i did for you"

quinn laughs and leaves while ethan lets out a sob

"eth…im still here or somewhat" you laugh weakly and pull your face from his chest

it broke his heart to see you in a state like this, tears staining your cheeks and your body bloody

it was a kyle broflovski academic rivals to lovers. fake relationship trope. i remember sm of the fic despite not having read it for months??/ i even downloaded a pdf so i could read it on a fight 2 detroit but I DELETED IT AFTERWARD. JULIA WTF.

plot/thingy/intro: so basically stan had to pull y/n into the janitors closet bc y/n was on the cheer team + bsfs with wendy (sp lore: stan and wendy are dating) and he tells her sm about college? FUCK I FOROT IT BUT ANYWAYS

also everyone’s aged up to hs. feel like that’s self explanatory but i am not reading an elementary fic hell no busters

and then craig and tweek (sp lore: they’re dating) walk in and they’re like “… 😦😦” bc one male one female in janitors closet why wouldn’t u think that and craig went “….this is our makeout closet” I LAUGHED SO JARD LMFAO

scenes that happened that i remember: OMG. THIRD CHAPYER. y/n was eating in the gym in the bleachers and kyle used her lap as a pillow and they shared a peanut butter and jelly sandwich i loved this scene oh my god it was so cute

also: lore drop: y/n is cartmans cousin. i don’t need to say much to explain anything, if you’ve been on the internet for at least a month you’d know about his character

so after a game since y/n is on the cheer team she goes home and OH NAUR. CARTMAN LOCKED HER OUT FOR DATING KYLE OH NAURRRR. and it’s raining too! so y/n gets all soaked in the rain and kyle finds her so he takes her to his place and she has to shower and wear his clothes and it’s cute

they didn’t sleep in the same bed. NOOOOOO but he slept on the floor and let her take his bed what a gentleman k lived this fic so i loved it with all of my soul and heart pls come back.

i remember having an online friend and in the middle of the night i’d be there and we’d be having a convo on how it was the best kyle x reader and no one could top it. doa was amazing

that fic motivated me into writing again too omg i remember reading it and immediately beginning to wri my own kyle fics

i remember waking up on summer days METICULOUSLY checking my notifications to see if k got an update email. and if i did i would be screaming and giggling and kicking my feet just reading it over and over again

also i’m js exaggerating like i’ve obviously been mourning the fic but i wasn’t THAT sad 😭😭

Ok wow i never made my 2024 book roundup post so let's do it

i read 45 books this year yeehaw !! that is a lot for me.

My two favorites this year were:

Piranesi was sooooo fucking incredible i cannot wait to reread it. atmospheric, a little bit abstract, beautiful writing, weird setting. im still not sure how i feel about the ending, but it's a five star read either way. if anything i wish she had left it more ambiguous, but that's just my taste sometimes.

and Titus Groan by my best friend Mervyn Peake with whomst i share a birthday! how fun. i stumbled across this book because my friend referenced "Gormenghast" and i said "what's that" and he said "idk a giant gothic labyrinthine castle" and i said

and immediately googled it to find more info. Titus Groan is the first of 3 novels in this setting and im excited to get to the other two this year. honestly this book is weird and slow and definitely not going to be for everyone, but again it was atmospheric (though a VERY different atmosphere...) and wordy and descriptive and i loved it. also has a very pleasant dry and sarcastic humor, it gently mocks the characters in a way that i can't really describe as "jokes" but was quite funny to me.

i read Fairly Tale by Stephen King and if you want a fun, dark, fantasy coming of age story that involves a very likeable main Boy and his Dog i can highly recommend it! The setting is great, the plot is engaging, and there's a lot of strange and interesting side characters.

I enjoyed The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by VE Schwab a LOT more than i thought i would. im sorry, i had written it off as probably too tropey and booktok-y but it was actually a good read for me. i enjoyed the flashback part of the story significantly more than the NYC part, but i LOVED the ending. sorry i want the evil demon to win, as if it's my fault.

ok now i wanna gripe a little bit

can i just say - WHY THE HELL IS EVERYONE SO OBSESSED WITH THE THREE BODY PROBLEM. god i really did not like that trilogy at ALL. I've seen so. many. people. act like it's the ONLY science fiction book ever written and like ??? THAT?? for that book, you are losing your mind? you're telling people who don't like science fiction that this is a good place for them to start are you actually INSANE. idk. it had some cool ideas (the evil photon that destroyed physics was good) but ugh at what cost. the characters are literally nothingburger like they are so un-fleshed out. and then i see people who complain about Alastair Reynolds not writing good characters turn around and praise the three body problem...it don't sit right with me!! Reynolds writes great characters i think you just aren't paying attention.

i was also pretty disappointed by the Mountain in the Sea ☹️ i wanted a cool sentient octopus book and it wasn't bad but idk. just didn't hook me in, it felt kinda flat somehow. i really wish id liked this one more.

omg wait worst book of the year: Five Broken Blades. godDAMN i hated this book. i only finished it because I'd stupidly bought a hardcover copy (it had a beautiful spray over on the edge ok) and i was bitter. the writing was bad, the characters were largely annoying and did random things, and most egregiously to me there were MISTAKES IN THE MAP. the map did not make sense with what was described in the story and it INFURIATED ME lmaooo. don't include a map if you aren't going to double check your account of relative travel time between different locations and make sure it lines up!!

there were a few other disappointingly mid books but i don't think i have anything interesting to say about them lol. i reread i think 10 books this year which was really great, i loooove rereading things 🩷

Omg yessss someone who finally understands what it feels like 😭😭

I’m so tired of people always saying “this isn’t hs, this is a DrAmA series, what do you expect?” in that condescending tone that is used to make you look stupid, acting like we didn’t watch s1 and even with THAT finale, it made us stay and continue it. Bc s1 was balanced. Yes, very bad things happened but there were also calm and nice moments. And throughout the seasons the angst got more and more and the fluff got less and less. Excuse me if I’d like to see them happy for once especially since this is the very last season and what we got is that Simon is very sad, Wilhelm is losing his damn mind over and over again and two cute moments out of a thousand intense/angsty. It’s exhausting and it doesn’t make me excited to watch it. I don’t even rewatch s2 fully bc it’s too much, I’m scared I won’t be able to enjoy this one either…

Tbh idk how people can be so happy about seeing them once again go through hell, but maybe that’s me.

You know what months ago i probably would have tried to make u feel better and say that it’s probably gonna be nice moments in there as thats what i was telling myself for the past year that they are boyfriends now so they wont be fighting as bad but i did not know that there was a fate worse than fighting lmfao like i cannot get over the rock thru his window thats so traumatic. I need to see them happy and smiling and joking together bc if we dont see it we will never see it i feel like thats what the added pressure is. And the logical side of my brain is like well they will be joking around together at the palace from that teaser but then i’m like okay but then august ruins it and Wille is upset again at the meeting so idk im also finding it a bit exhausting. Its legit whiplash i was so happy to see them happy in the stills then that trailer came out of nowhere crushing my soul i think i just wasnt expecting it to be that intense i thought that one moment in the uniforms would be like the height of it.

I’m mostly scared bcs im serious that trailer really fucked me up and i want to be able to enjoy the season im scared its going to be too intense or trigger me in some way when all i wanted was to see them happy for more than 5 minutes. i dont want somber yes we are so in love but our lives are miserable. I genuinely need to see them LAUGHING AND HAPPY BCS THEY ARE 16 and this is so legitimately unfair 😭😭😭😭😭☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️

LIKE OK I GET IT JACKETS ARE PROBABLY HARD TO MAKE OR WHATEVER AND THE SUPPLIES FOR IT YADADDADA BUT LIKE I SWEAR JACKETS WERE 50 DOLLARS BEFORE. i told momi ill just freeze this winter and ran into indigo again to find bluelock manga even tho i got all the manga available here (1-14 i am desperately waiting for the sae manga i need him so bad but hes coming out feb 25 next year LIKE WHAT) i found episode nagi manga 1 and i… i bought it. it was. 20 dollars. there are 5 volumes. 20 x 5 assuming they stay the same price is 100. i did more calculations including manga all the way up the volume 31 of bluelock and the figures/plushies and tell me why my estimate price is basicallt 900 dollars on bluelock stuff within 3-4 years. im gomna be on the streets homeless with bluelock merch but its okay bc my glorious blue eyed kings itoshi sae and itoshi rin will be with me …..
