#like hell hawks will let endeavor push the no.1 to him

Note
I don’t think him dropping his career would destroy the story or would be an utter waste, at least not if it is handled correctly that is but honestly I have given up trying to theorise how the story will go and just decided to sit there and well let it play out 😅! Also I don’t think his arc is over yet, we’re probably going to have his final father moment when he reunites with his children, chapter 356 didn’t feel like it was him balancing being a father and a hero at least not completely I feel it will feel more balanced once he as his father moment with his kids
dropping his career would be the worst scenario for endeavor (since death is out of question) bc like i mentioned, his story is to find the balance between being a hero and being a father.
tldr at the bottom.
endeavor is the hero who hurt his family to save outsiders, and he's also the hero who let his personal family matters hamper his important battles to save the world. he is the father who's trying to be a father, and a hero who isn't allowed to step down. he is someone who cannot live without fighting his own weakness (hero), yet he is trying to open his heart to live with and for the others as well (father). endeavor's entire story progresses like this: from being a no.2 hero to be no.1 hero but a father who has yet to do anything for his family to a heartbroken father and "endeavor died back then" to "end this battle here is my duty".
you see that, he went from hero to trying as a father to yeet his hero persona away (for 55 chapters) to coming back as endeavor (356). only now his last arc has started. this endeavor of 356 is the endeavor who is ready to win this battle and try to be a father again (to touya). because he cannot win over afo as a father, nor can he face touya as a hero, but at the same time he cannot let either of his responsibilities down, he cannot not facing both or either of these battles. win this war as a hero and come back home as a father. basically endeavor in his atonement arc but better. very close to find the balance. he has faced his hero persona, and next he will be a father.
so yeah, again, pushing aside worldbuilding reasons i listed on the previous ask, endeavor's character is made up by two roles with double development for both, which means there has to be a good (or bad) ending for each role. you can't write him successful in one role and give him a lame-assed ending for the other. no, unless you think endeavor's eating up too much public love while isn't the main character. telling me endeavor will retire (before Japan could be stable again, before there's someone who's capable enough to inherit the no.1 from endeavor, hawks and best jeanist) is like telling me endeavor will spend the rest of his life behind the bar for child abusing. it completely leaves his story hanging in the air without a fulfill meaning.
like, pulling cliche realistic justice and righteousness in shounen manga? after all the attempts to redeem the villains? no way.
another point i want to add bc i feel like people who thinks endeavor will retire don't really understand the last chapter (356). idk how to explain this either bc i just... relate hard. but like, endeavor sustains inferior complex, at the same time it's the feeling of inferior and despise toward himself that dragged him moving forward. 'hero' has been determining enji's entire self-worth. we suddenly have endeavor's origin is him facing his own issues and eventually reevaluating his entire self-worth. endeavor retires is like yeeting his entire effort to freaking deal with his own issues out the door, like throw away half of his existence, his entire self-worth. his issues aren't just about his family, they are about himself.
tldr: endeavor has issues to himself and to other people. his story has to fix both in the most meaningful ways. him retires from hero means flinging his entire effort to fix the "issues to himself" down the river. dabi dies, endeavor in the jail, anything that prevents endeavor to have a warm reunion with the todorokis means flinging his entire "issues to other people" down the river. it has to be both, or be nothing.
#like hell hawks will let endeavor push the no.1 to him#and like hell best jeanist will let hawks and endeavor walk away leaving the no.1 to him#ugh i suck at explain and meta#everything is a mess#someone please rewrite this#if it cant be realistic at least it has to be logical#i progress this in a very logical proceed but it always rolls out as a mess#endeavor's story has always been about a hero trying to be a father and hero#father and hero#FATHER AND HERO#he has to be both or be nothing#endeavor#bnha#ask#thank you for the ask and sorry for the mess#can you see it-kun

Okay so yknow the adele song 'rolling in the deep'
but these lyrics here;
"We could have had it all,
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
Rolling in the deep
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)
You had my heart inside of your hands
(You're gonna wish you never had met me)
And you played it to the beat
(Tears are gonna fall, rolling in the deep)"
As shigadabi (or any other ship) angst
(Sorry if this doesnt make sense my mind is running in circle rn and had to get this off of my mind)
KEHEBEKHRBDKFIFJFO I MEAN YES
Consider:
The general situation is that Tomura refuses to go with the heroes and he thinks Dabi is a traitor for going back to his family.
At the same time, Dabi is very confused and angry because he thinks Tomura manipulated him into being a villain.
(Both idiots are wrong but when they are angry and sad, there's not stopping them. You know how it is.)
Tomura is the one singing in between lines and Dabi is singing the main lyrics.
Consider as a bonus the heroes finally getting to know what the hell was the type of relationship the League had with each other. gossip time.
Endeavor getting offended by Dabi having something not only with any guy, not only with a villain, but also with the biggest villain out there, WHO WAS HIS BOSS.
On the other hand, the League is like WE KNEW IT. YOU TWO GOT SOMETHING FOR THE OTHER.
It's like that one revelation during a dinner where the thing is said, there's a minute of silence and then everyone starts screaming at the same time and there's people standing, forks pointing, food flying.
Tomura and Dabi promising to ruin the other's life is sooooo funny to me because they're going from rivals / to boss and worker / to friends / to almost lovers / to enemies / to that one person that is not your ex but is kinda your ex / to bickering redemption partners / to bitter lovers with a bunch of regrets / to boyfriends.
No one have a clue of what's happening expect Izuku, who keeps track in one of his notebooks. He gives updates every Friday on the class 1-A dorms using PowerPoint presentations.
You know how Mamma Mia is just ABBA songs? This is the same but it's Shigadabi with Adele songs. Such drama queens.
Somehow Hawks keeps getting trapped in the middle of the situation because 1) he enjoys gossiping, 2) he goes to buy chicken wings at the worst times, several times a week, 3) both Tomura and Dabi hate him a lot so either they are using him against the other, or they are joining forces to hate him.
Class 1-B and class 1-A have bets about when are they going to kiss, who's gonna give up first, if it's gonna be romantic or kinda bloody, etc.
The entire Japan population agrees this is way better than having them around killing people. At least now they are more like a reality show or something.
IT'S ACTUALLY REALLY ANGSTY, OKAY? DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE COMEDY.
Why? Because trust is a big deal for both Dabi and Tomura. Everything is laughter until Dabi starts screaming about how Tomura was the first person he trusted after what happened to him when he was still Touya, but he took him down a corrupting road and never cared to push him away, never care to help him, he never care about him at all. And Tomura starts screaming about how he knows he ruins everything he touches and gets killed all the people he had ever loved, but he's tired of people running away from him, specially if he likes that person. Growing up he could only think about how he was a monster and he never cared about anything as much as he cared about the League, but Dabi is making it sound like Tomura is like AFO, and it hurts more than any fight he has lived through. He's not like AFO. HE'S NOT LIKE HIM.
At some point Dabi goes back to his villainous ways right at the same time as Tomura starts redeeming himself. And it's a mess of a situation.
Tomura almost gets killed by AFO at some point, and they can barely save him. They take him to a hospital and the Todosiblings really need to restrain Dabi from burning down his way to Tomura's room because no visits are allowed.
You can imagine how guilty they both feel about the things they've implied about the other.
The Todosiblings stay with Dabi the whole night because they know Dabi is in a dark place and he can't be alone with his sadness. But after three nights, Dabi runs away to find the members of the League. He only feels sane with them around, even if it's because they have seen the worst of him and they have never judged.
When Tomura finally wakes up, Dabi is the one visit he gets, courtesy of Deku and Shoto influence.
Tomura refuses to look at the traitor walking into his room. Dabi is so angry and so sad and so worried, but he just stands there, feeling like he's burning again, the disappointment on Tomura all over his skin.
But they almost lost each other. Dabi will never forget how helpless he felt when he saw Tomura on TV fighting AFO, his body falling apart, his stupid red eyes dark and empty.
Tomura swallows how he could only think about the League while almost dying. He could only think I failed them I failed them I failed them.
It's Dabi who moves first, taking Tomura's hand. He's careful to not end up decayed.
Tomura almost yells and tries to push away, but Dabi takes it, rest his forehead on it, trembling.
And he sings quietly that stupid song.
“ I can't help feeling
We could've had it all ”
And Tomura sobs a little. He is being careful, but he asks in a tiny voice for Dabi to let go. He doesn't want to... He doesn't want to accidentally kill him.
Dabi refuses: “Your hand. It's cold.”
It's in that white room with dark curtains and a closed door that Dabi tells Tomura that he regrets meting him.
And Tomura's heart stops. Until he feels the drop of blood over his hand and hears the words that come after.
Dabi regrets meting him too late when he's already fucked up, when all he has is the same rage that is drowning his siblings, the same rage ...
... That had them both running around, Tomura finishes before Dabi could.
They talk. No one's knows what they talk about. No one knows what happens in that room that night.
They are still very angry, very sad, very many things, but they also know they are madly in love with the other and they don't want to crash and burn alone.
They made a pretty good team, in fact.
The end.
I need to stop getting carried away and giving you guys so much nonsense. Sorry.

BnHA Chapter 291: The Endeavor Pamphlet
Previously on BnHA: Dabi showed up atop Gigantomachia’s back and was all “you’ll never guess who I really am!” and the readers humored him and were all “who?” and he was all “TODOROKI TOUYA” and we were all “WOW └(・。・)┘ OH MY GOSH I WOULD NEVER HAVE GUESSED”, except for Shouto and Enji who were GENUINELY SHOCKED. Anyway so Touya was all “and guess what I’m doing right now!” and before anyone could even try, he was all, “STREAMING MY EMMY-NOMINATED MINISERIES ‘HELLO, I’M EVIL BUT ALSO TRAGIC AND SEXY, NOW LET ME TELL YOU ALL ABOUT MY DAD WHO SUCKS’’, THAT’S WHAT.” And everyone was all “oh my god” and Touya was all “ヽ(⌐■_■)ノ♪” for basically the rest of the chapter, and that’s pretty much it! Oh, wait, except for the part where he also doused himself in bleach in a fit of pure theatrics, which is actually pretty much the main takeaway from the entire chapter really because it was just wild af. ANYWAYS.
Today on BnHA: Horikoshi introduces Baby Touya, the world’s most enchantingly sweet character, and is immediately all, “I sure can’t wait to tell you guys all about how his fucking jaw burnt off.” Thankfully he doesn’t (YET), and we cut back to the present pretty quickly, where Dabi explains how he took all of his brain cells that should have been used to stop him from pouring bleach over his head, and instead put them all toward his big brain plot of releasing an elaborate video detailing Endeavor’s various abuses and crimes, and even throwing Hawks under the bus as well because WHY NOT. He then leaps off of Gigantomachia’s back (like I said, no brain cells) all set to blast them with a Prominence Burn, only to be stopped by none other than THE LEGEND HIMSELF, MOTHERFUCKING BEST, PRETTIEST, NICEST, MOST OUTSTANDING MOTHERFUCKING JEANIST. Who’s no doubt outraged by the crime against hair he witnessed only moments earlier. GO GETTIM JEANY BOI.
so I haven’t had time to answer any of them because this has been the stupidest week, but I just wanted to tell you guys that I received no fewer than nine asks about Dabi’s hair. which, in a week filled with election memes and tumblr’s most cursed fandom briefly rising back up from the dead, is a pretty impressive feat for him if you ask me. like, I know I was making fun of it basically nonstop, but it sure did generate a lot of discussion so maybe I should rethink my opinions on Dabi’s PR strategies now, idk
anyway. it’s Saturday. time to catch up on this shit. let’s see how fucked the Todorokis are
OH NO HE’S CUTE
HOLY SHIT THIS IS TOO MUCH TO FUCKING PROCESS. I’M JUST TRYING TO ENJOY MY DAY HORIKOSHI, ARE YOU REALLY GOING TO TRAUMATIZE THIS POOR CHILD RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY SALAD
“thanks for being all right” the fuck
who allowed this child to be so cute. I’m serious. who signed off on this
how could a child this adorable possibly want to murder his equally adorable baby brother. please, your honor. there must be some mistake here
guess how prepared I am to read all about Touya’s tragic past. mm. that’s right. zero ready. none ready
anyway. TWO THOUSAND DEGREES LOLOLOL. NO TRACE OF A CORPSE HOW CONVENIENT. A PIECE OF HIS LOWER JAW BONE FFFFMSGHKLSh. LOVELY. LOVELY
LMAOOOOO
listen you guys. I just want to take a moment to appreciate that Horikoshi Kouhei did one of two things here. either (1) he planned it out FROM THE VERY START that Touya would be born with red hair Because Fire Powers, but would then have his hair turn white due to trauma, thus making the Dabi/Touya connection very slightly less obvious, although Let’s Be Real Who Are We Kidding. OR, (2) the anime got it wrong and gave him red hair, and rather than allowing this plot hole to continue to exist, Horikoshi took it upon himself to concoct this elaborate storyline and pretend it was never a plot hole at all! in which case I sure hope someone at Bones is sending him a VERY nice Christmas card this year. got this man sweeping up all your messes for you. you’re just lucky he has some sort of wild compulsion to address these things
anyways!!
FATHER AND SON. how sweet. :| still zero percent ready for any of this btw
STOP BEING CUTE
THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I’M SO MAD RIGHT NOW. HE IS THE SINGLE CUTEST CHARACTER IN THE ENTIRE SERIES, and do you even know how many other baby characters I’m betraying in order to say that?! baby Kacchan, baby Deku, baby Ochako, baby Shouto, Eri, baby Hawks. I’M LOOKING YOU DEAD IN THE EYE RIGHT NOW AND TELLING YOU THAT BABY TOUYA IS CUTER THAN ALL OF THOSE PLEBS. AND YOU’RE LOOKING BACK AT ME RIGHT NOW ALL “YEAH IT SURE IS A PITY ABOUT HIS JAW MELTING OFF THOUGH.” THAT’S IT, I QUIT THE SERIES
and Enji’s smiling at him. he’s so proud of him. but then Touya won’t be able to do it, and Enji’s gonna stop training him, and Touya’s gonna feel like a failure and keep pushing himself in order to try and win his dad’s affections back, because that’s all kids fucking want, all they want is just love, that’s fucking it, you couldn’t just give him that?? and then he’s gonna immolate himself fflkdlskfh THERE YOU SEE HORIKOSHI, I KNOW THE WHOLE STORY ALREADY, YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO THE WHOLE “SHOW THEM THE DEAD DOG” THING YET AGAIN YOU PIECE OF SHIT
OH SNAP THERE GOES THE TWIN THEORY. R.I.P.
BABY FUYUMI. PRETTY CUTE. NOT AS CUTE AS TOUYA THOUGH. HEY LOOK, NO REASON TO GET MAD AT ME I’M JUST STATING A FACT HERE
YEAH THIS IS GONNA GO REAL WELL OH BOY
I keep pressing the emergency stop button but this industrial tragedy machine just keeps on chugging along anyway, I’m pretty sure this thing is not up to code
:| I am so sorry sweet boy, Horikoshi is only getting started with you
FUCKING HELL WITH THIS NARRATION
but he wasn’t actually a child to you, he was just a little puppet child for you to live vicariously through!! and then you went and did the same fucking thing with Shouto afterwards and never learned your lesson until just six months ago!! fucking hell, Enji
so now he’s all “Touya is dead, that’s an unforgivable lie” fflkdhflk motherfucker does he look dead to you. if you really think that, tumblr and twitter have got a little over five years’ worth of archived theory posts to show you
oh shit Touya’s countering with “it’s an unforgivable truth”, which, damn. I actually think Horikoshi’s dialogue is one of his weaker points as a writer a lot of the time, but that comeback was snappy as fuck
actually guys, now that I’ve seen how ridiculously fucking cute baby!Touya was, I can almost understand why Shouto and Enji never put the pieces together before lol. any passing similarities would have easily been dismissed on account of he’d need to be at least 10x more adorable in order to get the full resemblance
OH MY GOD
NOW YOU SLEEP??? SO YOU POINT BLANK REFUSED TO PASS OUT WHILE YOU WERE BUSY MAIMING ALL OF MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS, BUT NOW THAT THERE’S AN OPPORTUNITY TO SEE YOUR REACTION TO THE “YOUR LIEUTENANT WAS SECRETLY RELATED TO ONE OF YOUR WORST ENEMIES THE WHOLE TIME” BOMBSHELL, YOU FINALLY DECIDE TO GET YOUR FORTY WINKS. I SEE
WOW DABI
I’M SURPRISED YOU DIDN’T ALREADY HAVE YOUR ANCESTRY.COM RESULTS PRINTOUT READY TO FOLD INTO A PAPER AIRPLANE AND ZOOM ON DOWN TO HIM
LOL NEVERMIND
gotta say, so far The Endeavor Pamphlet is just about as spicy as I could have hoped
(ETA: Natsuo’s face as he watches his beloved dead brother come back to life only to literally and metaphorically set everything on fire in one fell swoop is :/. why must you do this to me Natsu. can’t you see I’m trying to throw a Welcome Back Jeanist party here.)
HAVE YOU READ THIS?! TODOROKI ENJI ABUSED HIS OWN HEIR, AND DABI WROTE IT DOWN RIGHT THERE
WELL HE’S NEVER GON’ BE NUMBER ONE NOW / NEVER GON’ BE NUMBER ONE NOW / THAT’S ONE LESS THING TO WORRY ABOUT / THAT’S ONE LESS THING TO WORRY ABOUT
btw I neglected to mention this last week, but yes I do recognize and appreciate that this is Can’t Ya See-kun himself whom Horikoshi has chosen to be the face of this existential crisis which the general public is about to experience. rip CYS-kun
OOF
excuse me. putting aside the implications of Dabi sharing this context-less murder video of Hawks with the entire world for a moment, I just have to pause for a sec here, because when exactly did he get a chance to edit this all in?? complete with voiceover that seamlessly ties in with the prerecorded footage of him with DNA test results sans shirt?? you’re telling me this motherfucker, with all the smoke that was in the room thanks to his own quirk, somehow got a PERFECT SHOT of the PRECISE MOMENT when Hawks drove his feather knife into Jin’s back, using his MAGIC CAMERA THAT HE I GUESS HAD THE ENTIRE TIME IN THE POUCH RIGHT NEXT TO HIS BLEACH BOTTLE, and then immediately somehow got this very next shot as well FROM AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT ANGLE
ALL THE WHILE IMMEDIATELY RUNNING THROUGH SCRIPT REVISIONS IN HIS HEAD, WHICH HE THEN PROCEEDED TO RECORD... WHERE, EXACTLY?? WITH SKEPTIC, WHILST RIDING ON MACHIA’S BACK??
AND THIS IS ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY FOR YOURSELF???
and this after I just wrote that whole long paragraph positively GLOWING about this man’s ability to plug up a plot hole. jfc. just scratch out every damn word I said lol. just forget all of it
are you fucking kidding me, the footage was from the cameras Skeptic planted on Hawks??
that’s... actually... okay you know what, it still doesn’t make any sense in the slightest, but the determination to address it nonetheless... just, dammit... I feel like I’m constantly at war with myself over whether or not I want to shake this man’s hand or slap him lmao. whatever, then!!
anyway, since Shouto and Enji can’t actually see the damage that Touya is dealing to the hero industry even as they speak, Touya is taking it upon himself to give them the highlights
I think it’s a testament to how much Endeavor cares about Hawks that he managed to zero in on that comment even amidst all the craziness of his eldest son returning from the dead to announce how he’s been carefully plotting their destruction for years and years. like, he heard “Hawks” and his face immediately went like that. you think he’s worried that Dabi did something to him? because he’d be right to worry lol
so the Endeavor Pamphlet narration is now explaining all about how Hawks totally killed the Number 3 Hero Best Jeanist as well! yep... he sure did... totally...
OH MY GOD WE’RE CUTTING TO HIM AHHHHH
Hawks, that is. lol. not Jeanist. NO, JUST MY POOR HALF-DEAD WINGLESS BABY SON
NOOOOO HIS LITTLE WING STUMPS. BUT SOMEHOW HIS FACIAL HAIR IS STILL INTACT. OH TO BE AN ANIME PRETTY BOY BEING SET ON FIRE. “HEY, TAKE IT EASY, WATCH THE FACE”
EXCUSE ME WHAT
interesting! we suspected as much, I think, with the clues that Ending dropped, and the little flashback right after the name reveal. still not clear how Dabi found out about it though!
looooool okay here we go, breaking out the heavy-handed holier-than-thou shit now
you know, I do find it interesting how trying to model themselves after All Might’s noble Symbol of Peace image has kind of ended up being the heroes’ undoing here. like, I could write a whole essay on this, but what it basically boils down to is that they were all trying too hard to be perfect. All Might went out there and did his thing and was amazing, and so the powers-that-be built an entire system centered around this seemingly-infallible person, and they acted like the system was infallible as well. and so most of the population ended up becoming complacent over the years, and meanwhile the people who were unfortunate enough to fall through the cracks understandably wound up disillusioned and perceiving the heroes as these false idols
anyway, but I think one positive takeaway from this is that the new up-and-coming generation of heroes represent a breakaway from that system. like, imo what we’re witnessing is the downfall of the Perfect Hero, and the rise of the imperfect hero. and this new generation doesn’t shy away from their failures or pretend like they never happened. they pretty much can’t pretend, because their failures are all right out there in the open for everyone to see. Bakugou Katsuki, just to name one example off the top of my very biased head, has had his own personal character journey basically play out right in front of the media’s eyes. his humiliation at the sports festival, his kidnapping by the League, and all of the fallout afterward. this isn’t someone who can ever go out there and convince the world that he’s perfect. but what he can do, instead, is show the world that he’s trying. that he’s trying with everything he has to do his best, to be the best. rather than this untouchable godlike image, it’s instead the image of someone painfully human who is nonetheless striving with everything he’s got to keep moving forward, flaws and all, and work his way to the top
and ultimately I think that’s going to be a much more positive image to send out to the world when all’s said and done. because rather than merely inspiring awe, heroes like that inspire people to take action themselves. or at least that’s what I hope! and not just Bakugou, but the others as well. we’ve got Shouto, whose own personal trauma is being aired in front of the whole nation even as I sit here ranting. we’ve got Deku, who cries at the drop of a hat, and who fought to become a hero despite being quirkless (and I think it’s only a matter of time before that eventually becomes public knowledge as well). tl;dr because I’m getting way too long-winded here, but these kids have effectively been humanized in a way that the old generation never was, and I think that’ll go a long way towards building trust between them and the people they’ll someday be protecting, and inspiring the next generation in hopefully a much healthier way
anyway so where were we. ...oh yes, Dabi was explaining that heroes only protect themselves, and is presumably building up to his grand conclusion of “therefore you should all just let the villains take over and burn down the world”
omfg. YOU GUYS
DOES CAN’T YA SEE-KUN’S SHARK FRIEND ACTUALLY CALL HIM “CAN’T YA SEE-KUN.” HE HAS A NAME YOU KNOW!! UNLESS HE LEGALLY GOT HIS NAME CHANGED TO CAN’T YA SEE-KUN. OH MY GOD
ALSO, IS THAT CAN’T YA SEE-KUN CRYING IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT THERE OMG. GIVE THIS CHILD A HUG. EVERYONE STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING RIGHT NOW AND HUG HIM
BAKUGOU IS BARELY HANGING ON THERE LOL. GOTTA STAY CONSCIOUS... SO MUCH TEA BEING SPILLED... FOCUS... CONCENTRATE
IIDA’S ANGLING HIS HEAD IN A WEIRD WAY, LIKE DUDE. LOOKING SUSPICIOUSLY SNUGGLY THERE. MMM THESE IIDABAKU CRUMBS
HADOU IS ALL “WHAT EVEN IS ACTUALLY GOING ON” LMAO
LASTLY, POOR SHOUTO OMFG. WHEN YOU’RE ALL FINISHED HUGGING CYS-KUN THIS CHILD NEEDS YOUR ATTENTION!!
so now Dabi’s leaping off of this ninety-foot-tall gargoyle man like that’s a normal, smart thing to do. unless he can fly too now? saw his dad doing it back at Fukuoka and was all “hmm”
OH MY GOD SOMEONE TELL ME RIGHT NOW WHAT WORD SHOUTO IS USING TO ADDRESS ENJI, THESE TRANSLATIONS LOVE TO MESS WITH MY HEAD
ENJI GET MOVING DO YOU NOT SEE THOSE TEARS!!! SNAP OUT OF IT YOU BIG TREE
AHHHHH
OH KACCHAN YOU WOKE UP A LITTLE MORE THERE, HUH
lol he and Deku both look so determined but they’re basically sitting ducks. their “oh shit” faces do look remarkably like their “TIME TO SWING INTO ACTION” faces but don’t be fooled, they have one good arm and about six pints of blood left between the two of them. looks like this one’s all on you Shouto
-- AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH --
BAH GOD... WHAT’S GOING ON HERE... THAT’S BEST JEANIST’S MUSIC
y’all. can’t even talk right now, my brain has completely shut down lol. just. ...

Bnha chap 302 was crazy! So many stuff have been revealed! What did u think of it?
(So before I start, I just want to say, sorry it took me a few days to answer this. when discussion recent chapters of MHA, I’m trying now to wait for the official release before posting anything. I know I haven’t always been the best when using scans vs official releases, but I’m going to try and make this more a thing. Given some flack I’ve received in the past, as well as recent crack downs by shueisha. So you can send me asks like this, please I’m not discouraging it. but you’re just going to have to wait till after the official releases.)
With the preamble out of the way OH MY GOD! This flashback chapters are amazing! Like this has been the kind of stuff I’ve been waiting for in MHA after the metric crap ton of build up by Horikoshi. And its not disappointed.
First, I do likeEndeavor’s gradual decline into is asshole self from Shoto’s memory. It’s vocally recognized that Endeavor is breaking societal taboos with his Quirk Marriage. Not only his selfish wishes to have an ultimate child to surpass All Might, but Toya is basically one of the worst combinations of this selective breeding. Being that he has stronger fire than Endeavor, but he has resistance to cold temperature so he’s just burning his body.
Yet Endeavor still is more focused on surpassing All Might. And when he comes to the realization that Toya will never surpass All Might, he decides to make a his real ultimate child. Now the reason I like this is because this isn’t Endeavor just being like “I need to surpass All Might with the perfect child”, its also, “I need to create my ideal child which will surpass All Might and act as a deterrent to Toya wanting to be a hero.”
Now, I love this scene, not just because no matter how Endeavor tries to justify his actions, he is still ultimately breaking societal conventions just to selfishly surpass his rival. But it also shows, Endeavor is aware of Toya’s feelings. He KNOWS Toya won’t stop trying to be a hero. He’s not some ignorant to his son wanting to live up to his dream of the ultimate hero. But his plan to stop Toya is not altruistic. It’s still selfish. His plan is literally to make an actually superior child, just to get his son to give e up. Its probably the worst thing you can do.
And most recently in 302, when that doesn’t work and Toya still burns himself and tries to attack Shoto. Endeavor finally just decides to no longer deal with this. personally. He is leaving Toya to Rei and is just going to focus on Shoto. He’s pushing a problem onto someone else and NOW he’s just ignoring it.
And then he just doubles down worse from there. Actually becoming more of the abuser that Shoto and Natsuo remember. All because Rei couldn’t keep Toya in line. Even though Toya was his son too.
It’s been awhile since we have seen Endeavor as the antagonistic figure. And I know the story of Endeavor will always be a tough one because its ultimately one trying to redeem an abuser. And I like that in this flashback, we are really reminded of why Endeavor wants atonement, because what he did to his family was wrong. And now we’re actually seeing it. Hell, some of it is more uncomfortable because we now see, its not like Endeavor was so pure evil psychopath, he gradually slipped from some wrong-headed jerk who was breaking taboos who is aware he’s doing bad things but pushing forward to ignoring his problems he’s caused to finally lashing out at his family as if it’s not also his responsibility.
And we see a man who is regretful. But he still made mistakes. And I like that this hasn’t just been for the audience, this has been for Endeavor. Because he can no longer keep those skeletons in his closet nor is he in a position to throw himself a pity party. Again, we still have to wait a few chapters before we see like how this pays off. But Rei is reminding him that if he really wants to make things better and prove he’s a better person, then let’s start by getting his house in order.
Speaking of Rei, this has been a pretty interesting character study for her as well. We see Rei as pretty much a passive player both in the series up to this point being in a hospital, but also in this flashback. She agrees to be Enji’s wife and while she’ll speak up, she doesn’t stop Endeavor from having more kids. Nor does she stop him from really separating the kids. She also brings it up that like Endeavor, she didn’t really “see” what was really going on with Toya.
While Endeavor may have thought a deterrent of making him Toya give up would work, Rei try to just talk to Toya about looking beyond his father, but its not just wanting his father’s attention that is driving Toya mad. Its the fact that his birth was solely to make an ultimate Quirk users and if he’s not then his whole creation is pointless.
Because at he core, she is still complacent with this arrangement. From her family to the fact that when she can’t actually stand up to Enji, she then starts lashing out at the children who remind her of them. She has hurt her children too and its wrong. But unlike Endeavor who is really now just trying to come to grips with that, Rei has clearly stewed in that self loathing for a while. And now, she’s not being passive, she’s now taking a stand and being the one who needs to pull Endeavor out of his own self-pity.
Its very nice to see this character who, like Endeavor, has transformed over the course of this union.
Now what does this mean for their marriage? As this seems to be the root cause of here passivity. I’m not sure. But Hori has given me no reason to think he’ll do something crazy with it. So I’m going to wait and see.
Now onto the man himself, Toya. Man finding out about Dabi has been a trip. Because at first it seems like he just wants his dad’s attention. To be proud of him. But its more than just that. Toya has a fire in him that won’t go out.
Toya’s “fire” isn’t this drive to be number 1 hero and get the glory. Its literally the validation of his existence. Because he was made to surpass All Might. If Toya can’t do that, then he failed at his existence.
It really pulls back that Dabi doesn’t hate Endeavor because of abuse like Rei, Shoto and Natsuo. Dabi hates Endeavor because he was born solely to fulfill his mission, and when he was physically incapable of doing so, he replaced him with a child who could. It hurts to watch.
Because Dabi will never get over the fact of why he’s here in the first place, I think a lot of kids when they get older have that realization about why they’re here is because of their parents. And Toya can literally trace why his father made him. As he recalled with Snatch.
Just contemplating his family and why he’s here. He lost it.
We also get some cool details on Dabi’s powers. With his flames growing even stronger from red to blue, but also that the burns around his chest that we first saw in his video is intentionally so he could both hide the burns but also avoid hurting him.
There’s also the fact that his flames are tied to his emotions. Probably why whenever we see Dabi he’s mostly irate and disinterested. But when he finally had to get infront of Endeavor and the world, Dabi lets all his emotions come out. Letting him use flash fire and be wary more gleeful in his destruction. Yet we see that any times he cranks up his emotions, he always starts crying. Like he did with Snatch and Hawks. Which is such a subtle touch that I love.
There’s also his unique resentment towards the women in his family more than Natsuo. Now Endeavor we know he clearly hates, but when it came to Natsuo, he ignored him. But he knew Rei and Fuyumi the longest, and they did nothing for the longest time.
We also see the beginning of Dabi’s use of faux concern about society and using it as a way to turn people on Endeavor.
Dabi has stated he doesn’t care about the League of Villains. Even in his big speech about how its Endeavor’s fire that let him kill people, he knows that’s a lie too. He would talk about confiding in his beloved brother, but if it meant making his dad suffer, he would’ve killed him.
Dabi’s hate is for one man, and if he can use anything to make Endeavor’s existence a living hell, he’ll use it. And we see that his hate is justified, but he will wrap that hate in a way to get others to feel like him. Its very effective.
Its just nice to see a villain who gets a bunch of build up LIVE up to all his hype. Its not like a let down, its just opening more doors to explore.
And now we get to the Todoroki family. Where do we go from here? Well Dabi isn’t just an Endeavor problem or a Rei problem, its a family problem. They all share the burden and Dabi will be their goal.
And I like this because, for the most part, Shoto completed his arc in the Sports Festival of hating his dad, but then accepting this is his power and looking beyond Enji. And while that wasn’t the end as he still has to make his choice on wether to accept his dad as a changed man or not, that’s more part of Endeavor’s goal. Shoto has been sorta like Deku and Bakugo with a focus on being number 1.
But now he has real and true personal motivation that no one but this family can really address and I am excited. I’m glad that the prominent characters of this series like Shoto has something to do. I get that all the kids in UA will never truly get this treatment. They have focus, but they are still mainly supporting cast. But having a main character really be able to justify why they’re up in front is great. I’m eager to see what awaits the Todoroki family in the future.

BNHA Chapter 319 Spoiler Analysis: Found Family
Holy crap what a phenomenal chapter! This arc in general has been great, but this chapter might be one of my favorites of the arc. Not just because it focuses on Class 1-A (I’m so glad to see the kids again), but because of the growth we see in these kids in general especially Bakugo and Shoto IMO. Like, holy shit ESPECIALLY BAKUGO! I stand by my opinion that Bakugo is one of the best developed characters in the series. There’s so much I want to say about this chapter and I’ll try my best to do so if my poor injured left hand will let me 😭:
The chapter starts off with the first of 3 colored pages we’re going to get over the next few weeks to celebrate 7 YEARS OF MY HERO ACADEMIA!!! CONGRATS, HORIKOSHI-SENSEI!!! This series revived my love of anime/manga and really helped me in some really rough spots in my life. I will forever be grateful towards Horikoshi for bringing this series to life and blessing us with such an incredible story full of beautiful characters. MHA may be a little overrated, but I still think it deserves all the love it can get.
Anyway, the color page. It shows Uraraka, Iida (who has red eyes here, so IDK why the anime gives him blue eyes though I do think they work better for him personally *shrugs*), Shoto, Tokoyami, and Bakugo after basically figuring out where Deku went. Bakugo is shown tearing up his letter (which says something like “Thank you for being there, Kacchan”; there’s more but I can’t translate it 😭) and you can kinda see some bandage wrap around his arm where he was stabbed. Also, both Bakugo and Shoto still have some visible injuries on their faces and Bakugo’s hands, so they’re still recovering from the War. It’s a really pretty page in general and I can’t wait to see what the next 2 color pages are going to look like. I also kinda want Horikoshi to take a break after this too again so he doesn’t overwork himself. Maybe he’ll treat himself to the MHA: World Heroes Mission movie 🍿.
So, Shoto and Bakugo have figured out that Deku is most likely with Endeavor, Hawks, and Best Jeanist. Problem is that none of them are answering their phones. I like that Bakugo calls Best Jeanist “Pair of Denim Pants” 😂 and Shoto’s image of Endeavor is still a very angry version of his old man. Shoto’s still making amends with his father, but he’s still not THERE yet. Regardless, these kids are smart enough to know that something’s up. Especially since All Might hasn’t returned to UA either.
It’s basically confirmed by Ojiro that because classes have been suspended, our Class 1-A kids are still 1-A; they haven’t moved into their second year yet. That clears up the confusion on whether we should still refer these group of kids as 1-A still or not.
Now Bakugo’s showing how much of a genius he really is despite his personality. Bakugo figures out that the Top 3 and All Might are working together as a group based on how they all connected with each other back at Central Hospital. Also, Bakugo concludes that All Might snuck Deku’s letters under their doors while Deku started running. Ultimately, Bakugo does know more about Deku and All Might more than anyone else does. He’s been around his childhood friend and he’s admired his idol longer than most people have. Bakugo understands how bad the situation is and he’s ready to take action.
As are the other kids. You can see how determined they are and you can see Kirishima’s black roots coming in 🥺! Even Uraraka gets some shine here by bringing up the idea to trick Endeavor to come via getting help from Principle Nezu as Endeavor was a UA student. It’s really interesting to see Ochako in a more serious roll than usual, but I actually like it. I hope she’s still as bubbly as she always was at the end of the day, but she’s definitely matured and grown a lot over the corse of the series. Even the simple things like her hair show it as it’s not as floaty as it was before. I love it when Horikoshi shows small details like this. It adds to the characters and stories a lot. Also, the art in this chapter is amazing.
And now it’s Endeavor vs. Class 1-A in a much needed conversation. All the kids are wearing their school uniforms to make this as formal and serious as they can. EVEN BAKUGO IS PROPERLY WEARING HIS TIE YOU KNOW SHIT’S ABOUT TO GO DOWN!!! And, I must say, Bakugo looks damn good with a tie 😳. You can also get a decent height measurement on the kids here if you want. Ngl, sometimes I forget that Shoto’s about 2 inches taller than Bakugo. It’s definitely the hair.
Shoto’s the first to step up and he scolds the hell out of his old man. Rightfully so tbh. Endeavor shouldn’t have ignored Shoto’s calls even though I kind of understood why. Shoto reminds Endeavor of their plan to stop Dabi though thankfully that’s what’s pushing Endeavor forward so he hasn’t forgotten. Shoto calls his father “Endeavor” and gets mad at him fro leaving Deku and All Might alone. The rough translations say he called Izuku “Deku” here too btw. Endeavor has no response. I think this anger Shoto’s unleashing is very justified and has been burning inside him since Deku left UA. His best friend just up and left him and his friends with nothing but a letter to kinda explain things. Also, Shoto and the rest of 1-A (minus Bakugo) have basically been lied to for about a year. I’d want answers too if someone did that to me.
Bakugo steps in by putting a hand on Shoto’s shoulder (🥺) to calm him down a bit and to say his piece. Ultimately, he thinks what Deku is doing is right, but that the way they’re all doing it is wrong. I love Deku and All Might, but they’re sacrificial idiots. They care more about others than they probably ever will themselves. That’s how All Might lost his OFA in the first place. It’s because of that that All Might doesn’t have it in him to stop Deku from going down this path. They shouldn’t have been left alone. Someone should’ve kept a closer eye on them. I know the Top 3 were all worried about getting too close to Deku before, but really, someone should’ve been watching them closer on the sidelines.
The next page is a really cool drawing of Endeavor flinging his phone to the kids to catch. The previous panels showed Endeavor with this face that’s regretful and I think he realized something: That Bakugo is right and that the kids might be better off finding Deku than he is. So he basically gives the kids his GPS on his phone. Those are just my thoughts, but it does look like that. I don't think Endeavor’s just going to up and give up though. He’s probably going to start rethinking things though.
As Sero manages to catch Endeavor’s phone, he and the rest of the kids think about how even though they’ve only known Deku for a year, they still think of him as family and cannot let him go down this thorny path alone. They’ll carry the OFA burden with him if they have to. They can’t smile without Deku around. These kids truly have become a family over the year. It’s amazing to see. Everyone’s like a brother and sister and it’s really nice to see. I just love Found Family stories, guys 😭❤️
And really quick, I want to focus on my ❄️🔥 boy, Shoto, really quick. As he’s thinking about Deku, he mentions how shocked he still is about Deku keeping OFA from them and how Deku thought just a letter would suffice. He has this sad look on his face like he’s trying to say: “I still can’t believe my best friend hid this from me for so long. Why? Did he not trust me?” That’s just my interpretation. Still, I can’t imagine how upset Shoto must feel. I think he still cares a lot about Deku enough to go out and find him, but he’s gotta feel some sort of betrayal. More so than the other students outside of Bakugo because, again, Deku was essentially Shoto’s best and closest friend 💙😭
Endeavor is rightfully worried about letting the kids out in the state of Japan right now, but now Principle Nezu speaks up and praises the kids on growing up so well. He’s also took into account Deku's feelings about his mission which is why he agreed to the team up. Also, Deku’s still welcome back to UA whenever he wants thank god ☺️. He’s a student who has to be protected. There’s a cute panel of Uraraka and her mom crying happily after getting her acceptance letter too. Not 100% why this is shown other than Acceptance Letter part, but it’s cute to see. Maybe Ochako realizes how much Deku needs to be protected or something.
As for the refugees, Nezu had the security system strengthened in time for the Cultural Festival earlier, but they never used it before. It’s call The UA Barrier. God, how strong is this thing? Is it strong enough to stop Shigaraki who was able to Decay the last barrier? This seems like something that’ll be used in the final battle TBH.
So, Nezu trust the 1-A kids to bring Deku back home. Which is exactly what they plan to do as all 19 of them enter Kamino in a badass full page. I actually wasn’t sure if all 19 of them were there at first since I couldn’t find Shoto for the life of me, but then my eyes saw the BIG-ASS ICE WALL IN THE BACK AND I THOUGHT “OH THERE HE IS!!!” LOL 😂
The next panel actually does show Shoto with Momo as they capture the villain from the last chapter. Momo politely calls Bakugo “Bakugo-san”, but Bakugo demands that he be called his insane hero name: “GREAT EXPLOSION MURDER GOD DYNAMIGHT”! I CAN’T WITH THIS DUDE SOMETIMES WHY DO I LOVE HIM SO MUCH 💥🧡
Deku sees his friend and wonders why they came. Ochako answers because that they were worried about him, but Deku tries to convince everyone (including himself) that he’s fine. He’s obviously not and Bakugo calls TF out on him! He even drops a good F-bomb for good measure. Bakugo mocks Deku for trying to act like All Might and asks Deku if he can even smile right now. I actually really like it that Bakugo’s calling Deku out on his shit. I think Deku needs some good tough love right now to knock some sense into him. Who would be better to do that than Katsuki Bakugo himself?
As Deku is trying to convince everyone that’s he’s fine (while still looking like a demon btw), there’s a small focus on Iida. Actually, a few panels this chapter have focused on Iida. Maybe he’s remembering the time Deku saved him back when they went up against Stain. Deku saved him then so it’s now Iida’s turn to save Deku. Also, Iida hasn’t gotten much focus lately and I really like his character, so I’m glad he’s being brought back to the forefront again. Also, I like hearing Kaito-san’s voice in general so I’d be happy to hear him again (thanks for that one, Haikyuu).
The final spread shows Deku telling everyone to move away while Bakugo, Iida, and Ochako get ready to stop him. IT’S DEKU VS. CLASS 1-A!!! WE’RE ENTERING CIVIL WAR FOLKS!!! Seriously, though, this is great. I was thinking that it would be just Bakugo and a few other students finding Deku. Instead we got the whole class. And looks like that “helping hand” thing will happen later because we got a battle to fight first.
Bakugo’s become a damn fine leader and I love to see his growth every freaking time🧡! I like how Iida has his hand on Bakugo’s back to support him btw. It’s weird that Shoto’s not in this page though. He’s one of Deku’s best friends, so I would think he would be in this page along with Bakugo and his first 2 friends (Ochako and Iida). Maybe Horikoshi’s saving Shoto for a more 1-on-1 conversation with Deku. God, I hope that happens because I think along with Bakugo, Shoto deserves a good talk with Deku the most.
Honestly, I’m not sure who would win this battle. I’ve been going through scenarios in my head on who would win, but I can’t come to a solid answer. Class 1-A has 19 versatile Quirks under their belt and they have more energy than Deku to fight, but Deku still has 6 insanely powerful Quirks that he’s been practicing for a while. The kids could probably win if they strategize enough and use Deku’s exhaustion against him, but again, Deku has OFA and multiple other Quirks. If he could beat Lady Nagant, one of the best snipers around, he might be able to beat the 1-A kids. He could just escape with Smoakscreen, Black Whip, and Float if he wants to really. That would put 1-A on another wild goose chase. There’s also Deku’s Danger Sense which will be a pain to deal with. Also, Deku said that he’s as strong as All Might was in his prime with Fa-Jin and OFA combined. Only AFO and Shigaraki were strong enough to take on THAT. Plus, we still don’t know what the 2nd OFA Holder’s Quirk is yet. Deku might use it in this battle. God, I have so many theories in my head now. I think this battle will be awesome, but ultimately, I want Deku to come home 😭💚

3 am Talks - bnha pt 3
a/n: here is the last part for bnha 3 am talks!! i’ll be doing hq next which will be longer than 9 characters. i hope yall enjoy (: pairings: dabi x reader, hawks x reader, aizawa x reader warnings: mentions for smex and smoking but no actual acts being done (dabi), dabi is a todoroki (not really a warning but i’m still saying it), mentions of depression (aizawa) taglist: @babydabi, @suckersuki, @bakugoustanaccount, @animoozies part 2 | part 4
‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾ *:・゚✧*:・゚✧✧・゚: *✧・゚:* ☽༓・*˚⁺‧͙
⇾ if Dabi is talking to you at 3 am, it’s because yall just finished doing the Devil's Tango ⇾ or yall smoking ⇾ those are the moments when his guard isn’t down persay, he’s just softer ⇾ he’s not a talkative guy to begin with so when he does start talking, you make sure to listen ⇾ it would probably start with something like ‘why are you with me’ or ‘joining the league, this isn’t what I thought I would be doing’ ⇾ maybe even bring up why he joined the league in the first place fuck Stain ⇾ he’s an insecure child at heart, but after asking some initial questions, he’ll be doing most of the talking ⇾ now - hear me out - if he reeeeeally trusts you, he would talk about his past and his daddy issues ⇾ how much he misses his siblings and mom, but he can’t go back to them ⇾ how he wants to expose his father for the things he did to his family but doesn’t want everyone else dealing with the backlash of it
You felt Dabi shift besides you, moving the thin sheet you used to cover yourself as you came back down from your previous activities. He sat there, facing the window, staring out at the moon and the stars. You knew something was on his mind, but waited to see if tonight would be the night he decided to talk about it. “Why are you still with me? You know I can’t give you anything you want.” You sat up, bringing your knees to your chest. Resting your head on your knees, you spoke. “Well, it’s not like I chose to fall in love with you. It just happened. But I honestly wouldn’t change a thing.” “Not even if being caught with me means you won’t be able to return to your family?” It wasn’t ideal, not in the slightest, but you hadn’t had that problem yet. “I don’t want to choose between the two of you. At this point, you are my family.” The silence fell back over the two of you. Sleep began to wash over you so you got up to find Dabi’s shirt to wear to bed. “When I joined the league, it was because I wanted to out my father to the entire world. Now that I’m here, I know that isn’t going to happen. The man-child has his own agenda that I’m a pawn in. The more I stray from my original ideas though, the more I realize that I can’t tell the public about his actions in the past. How will everyone else deal with the backlash? Shouto...he’s training to be a hero. How would that reflect on him? And Natsuo is in college… The only person I see benefiting from this is my mother who would finally be released from the hospital. But how would she adjust to life back home?” He dropped his head into his hands and you crawled across the bed over to him. Wrapping your arms around his shoulders, you pulled him back into your chest. “I miss them so much… If I were stronger, maybe I could’ve protected them all.
.・゜-: ✧ :- -: ✧ :-゜・.
⇾ oh boy, I can talk about my favorite chimken ALL day but I’m not gonna show favoritism like that ⇾ I see late night talks with him the way I see him drunk - the longer he talks, the deeper he gets ⇾ like, 10-12 am, he’s on crack talking about the most random things, not sticking to one topic ⇾ around 1, he starts to get more serious but more so about relationships - not necessarily yours, but in general (could be work, friendship, lack-there-of) ⇾ 2-3 am, he’s on work, spilling his innermost thoughts on it but never telling you secrets because he won’t put your life in danger like that ⇾ 4 am and onwards, he gets deep ⇾ he’s talking about his family and his childhood, how if he ever sees himself wanting kids in the future, he wants them to have a better life than himself ⇾ once he starts sharing the thoughts and feelings he’s kept to himself for all this time, he won’t stop ⇾ not unless he thinks you’re bored, tired, or he falls asleep himself ⇾ he just wants someone to listen to him for once and not cut him down for having feelings
“But I guess Endeavor is my best friend…” Hawks was staring up at the ceiling, lying on the couch as if he were in therapy - another luxury that was stripped away from him. “What about Miruko?” you asked, moving his legs out of your lap so you could get up. “My favorite rodent! Yeah she’s up there too. Actually, scratch that. She’s my best friend, don’t tell her I hesitated though.” You laughed. You heard him follow you into his bedroom as you began to change your clothes. Once you were done, you felt his arms wrap around your waist. “But I’m so lucky to have found you.” “It feels weird though. Like we’re dating secretly behind our parents’ back.” He pulled away, a small frown on his face. “Are you...not happy with me?” You walked over to the balcony doors, opening them to step outside. “Of course I am. If I wasn’t, I wouldn’t be here. It’s just strange I can’t tell anyone about you.” He joined you soon after, his shirt disregarded and sweats covering his lower half. “I know, but I want to keep you safe from, well, everything. The Commission isn’t exactly known for being kind to anyone. As a kid, I felt like I grew up in jail, my teachers and supervisors were my wardens. They forced me to grow up long before anyone my age had to.” He leaned back against the railing of the balcony, looking at you. Before continuing, he pushed some of your hair back behind your ear. “I never thanked you for not prying whenever I don’t tell you stuff. If the Commission ever found out that you know anything, I don’t even want to imagine what they would do.” You looked back out at the view of the city. “Are you planning to stay with them forever?” He took a moment to answer turning around to look at the view with you. “I mean, as of right now, yeah. Maybe one day in the future, if I want to settle down, I’ll leave. But they won’t let me go so easily, if at all, so it’s just easier staying with them.” “Kids?” He let out a dry chuckle. “If that ever happens, I’m keeping them the hell away from the life I grew up with.”
.・゜-: ✧ :- -: ✧ :-゜・.
⇾ our favorite UA zaddy ⇾ he’s up that late on a daily, whether it’s from grading papers and working, or just from all the thoughts running around in his head ⇾ he’s an insomniac, change my mind ⇾ he’s also depressed so these late night conversations would revolve around that ⇾ he’s too tired to even try to keep his walls up at this point ⇾ especially with the shit show of a year this has been and all the media painting him to be an incompetent teacher, always endangering the lives of his students ⇾ he needs a break and a really long paid vacation ⇾ constantly hearing how he’s doing a bad job at his job starts to get to him and after a certain point, he doesn’t need the media and parents to tear him down ⇾ he does it himself ⇾ honestly, just hold him in your arms as he let’s everything off his chest
“Shouta, why are you still up?” “I could ask you the same thing.” He was sitting at the dinner table, grading some papers. You walked out of your bedroom and took the pen out of his hand. Placing it down on the table, you pulled him out of the chair and walked him back to your bedroom. “You take your medication?” His lack of a response was all you needed. “If you don’t take your meds, how do you expect to get sleep?” He replied with a sigh as he sat down on the bed. “What are you running away from?” you asked, sitting next to him. “Everything.” He paused. “Do you know how hard it is for me to read and hear people call me a failure?” You knew what he was talking about. “I never cared how others viewed me. I don’t want to be a hero who’s in the headlines for the work I’ve done. But this? Those reporters don’t know the shit I go through to keep my kids safe.” He was tired and was finally at his breaking point. “I already feel like a failure for not being able to keep them safe - for seeing them in hospital beds because I was too weak - but then to have strangers who weren’t even there reporting on my incompetency? Comparing me to All Might?” “I know it’s easier to say this, but shouldn’t it matter about what your kids think only?” you asked, rubbing his back. “What about their parents? What kids will I have to teach and protect if their parents think I’m a failure too?” He had a point. You didn’t know what to say or do to help him feel better. All you were able to do was make sure he was going to class, coming home, and taking his meds. “Sho-” He sat up. “I love you, you’re doing the best you can with me.” He caressed your cheek. “It’s just my luck that everything is happening all at once. I don’t care how many times I have to put my life on the line though, I will always make sure my kids are safe before anything else.”

Todoroki and Bakugo visit Midoriya BNHA CODA CH 303
Link to part 1
After their trek down the hallway, All Might eventually gave the boys the room, leaving Midoriya’s side in what seemed to be the first time in hours. Bakugo slammed the door shut behind the former #1 hero, grumbling something under his breath. Shoto took one of the open seats by Midoriya’s bed, looking down at his friend. He remembered how badly injured he’d been, honestly it was a relief now to see skin clear of many cuts or bruises on his face. Someone with a strong healing quirk done well but it still didn’t look like his friend was sleeping.
The yellows and greens of fading bruises along his face and the pallor to his skin made sure of that. And Midoriya was no stranger to casts but with both his arms completely covered, he looked very small. Not the larger-than-life hero he’d been in the fight, stopping Shigaraki in his tracks over and over, without care for his own body. But that just brings the same questions burning in Shoto’s throat.
He pulls his head up sharply enough Bakugo (who had finished yelling at the insensate Midoriya for the moment), who had settled into the chair on the other side, drags his eyes from Midoriya’s broken frame to scowl.
“What? Do you have something...you wanna charades out?” he taunted.
Shoto pointed to Midoriya and went through a few motions he thought would clear up his question. By the blond’s deepening scowl, it didn’t. Todoroki sighed through his nose and went to rummage through cabinets. Eventually he found a pad of paper and a working pen and sat back down, using Midoriya’s bed as a writing surface. Contorting his burned hand to put enough pressure to use a pen was painful, and worse than that, his hand wasn’t responding correctly. It was the same sensation when he used way too much cold and lacked feeling.
He’d put that concern aside for now, the worries about burnt nerves or vocal cords. He didn’t need those to become a hero and he certainly didn’t need them to get some damn answers. It would have helped, but he would get by. He gripped the pen and used his other hand to guide the tip of the pen along the paper.
Eventually he set the pad in Bakugo’s waiting hand and the blond scrutinized the large and shaky hiragana. “‘His quirks’?” He said with an edge in his voice.
Shoto gave a single nod of his head and mimed flight with his hand. Then he leveled his most piercing gaze at Bakugo.
Something in Bakugo’s expression shuts off. Shoto could practically see the decision to keep quiet being made in his mind. It had only taken from meeting him to working through remedial training for Shoto to realize that once he got like that, only Midoriya stood a chance at changing his mind. The only one who could provide answers had shut up and Shoto couldn’t even /ask the questions/.
Shoto slapped the notepad out of Bakugo’s hand, sending it skittering across the floor before looking away. He could tell Bakugo was really staring at him now. His hands tightened into fists again. Something was happening to his friend, had caused his friend to be targeted, and he had been completely in the dark. Bakugo wasn’t good at faking it, it was clear he knew exactly what was happening as well. And Shoto was blind to it all. Because Midoriya had at least three quirks. Last time Shoto had mentioned it, it had been after he’d gotten Full Cowling and he’d assured Shoto it was an offshoot of his original quirk. Then Black Whip. Now this?
Shoto may be dense at times but he was far from stupid. He stared down at Midoriya, frustration itching in his eyes, wishing he were a better person, one who wouldn’t be so frustrated with his best friend, who was laying in a coma in front of him.
Hawks had said ‘One for all’ and Endeavor connected it to Midoriya, implied he was the target. Still unable to look at Bakugo, he took the pen to his palm, not bothering to retrieve the notepad. When the shaky scribble of pen didn’t form the right characters on his bandaged hand, he bit the words out in sheer force of spite. They came out with a dry croak, choked by a wall of anger he hadn’t quite realized he’d been immersed in.
“A-all M-mi-ight. All f-for o-one-e how--” his voice was so scratchy, it was whisper-quiet and octaves above where it should have been. He spoke until sound stopped coming from his throat entirely and he was let soundlessly trying to grasp his next words as he folded over in his seat with wheezing coughs.
He wasn’t sure how long it lasted but when he could focus again, his throat felt like lava, his breath whistled in and out of his nose, and Bakugo was next to him pushing a glass of water into his shaky hands.
“I told you to shut the fuck up. Seriously, don’t ask questions about all this, alright? As soon as Deku is awake, I’m sure he’ll want to tell you.” Bakugo seemed hesitant, but that couldn’t be right. He didn’t compromise. “Or you can beat it out of him for all I care. So just fucking wait. ‘Cause no matter how much you fuck yourself up trying to squeeze a pity answer out of me, you’re not gonna get fucking anywhere. I just can’t.”
The hard, sharp edges of Shoto’s ball of /anger-fear-worry/ in his stomach now mollified, he concentrated on taking sips of water tiny enough he didn’t have to swallow. Nothing was worth that pain.
Bakugo’s stance untensed enough that he limped back to his chair and settled back down in exhaustion. Shoto wondered if he’d be able to get back up at all. The boy gave out a long sigh. “Look, you saw him pick us all up with one quirk and fly us all with another. We’re on the same page there. No, he hasn’t been hiding secret quirks from you. I, tch, I don’t think he knew he had that last one until that fight. And no one is anyone’s secret love child, I swear if you start that shit right now I’m throwing Mineta out the fucking window.
“Yes, Mineta, because I was fucking impaled, I’m not gonna waste my strength trying to wrestle you out the window.” Bakugo clarified at Shoto’s slight head tilt. Then Bakugo’s eyes shifted back to Midoriya. He leaned forward and gave him a rough two-fingered poke to the forehead.
“Wake up, fucker. Half and half says he wants answers right now. I’m not gonna cover your ass on this forever.” The words lingered in the room until there was only a memory of silence. Eventually, Bakugo stood as abruptly as he could with his injuries. “Icyhot, we’re going.”
Shoto followed.
By the time they got back to their rooms, they had no choice but to acknowledge they’d hit an exhaustion wall there was no coming back from without rest.
“Where the hell is your room? Quit following me, dipshit, ” Bakugo bit when Shoto followed him back into his room a ways behind.
Shoto walked over to the side of the room, and gave the room divider a shove, leveraging enough room for him to pass. He jutted a thumb into the gap.
Bakugo’s mouth worked up and down in indignation. “Are you kidding me? I have to share a room with you? I want my damn privacy! Can’t Endeavor spring for a private room for you?” He was already trying to slam the dividing wall shut behind Shoto.
Shoto rolled his eyes and soundlessly headed to his bed. A quick glance to his phone confirmed even more unread messages from the class checking in with him. Not like he’d gotten a chance to look at them since he woke up. And it wasn’t a priority seeing as half the class was roving the hospital like some kind of gang.
He’d have preferred his own room, but part of him had to admit, it put him slightly at ease to know he was close to one of his worst injured classmates, when the inevitable nightmares about failing to save them began. He stopped to listen to Bakugo hunker back into bed.
“SHUT UP, I CAN STILL HEAR YOU THINKING!!”
Shoto settled down in the bed, refusing to admit to himself how utterly brain numbingly nice it felt to lay down again. The cottony feeling spread through his head.
A minute later, Bakugo’s voice comes a little lower. “You’re still fucking breathing over there, right?”
A small smile twisted the corner of Shoto’s mouth as he flicked the lights off in response.

"So Endeavor what was it that you wanted me to see exactly? Not that I'm complaining." Keigo asked as he was led down the hallway towards his bedroom, Enji had managed to get Fuyumi and Natsuo to go spend time with their friends, Shouto apparently said he wouldn't be home for the weekend. "Just relax Hawks, it's nothing too crazy." Enji told the blonde haired man as they finally got to his room.
"Close your eyes." He told the birdman and Keigo did, closing his eyes as he felt Enji pulling him into the room. With a firm pat on his back and Enji telling him to open his eyes he was utterly shocked, there you stood, your arms tied to your back, body being kept up by a roped which hung from the ceiling and your legs spread, Keigo took in the sight, the way the drool fell from your gagged lips and the way your body was twitching, then he heard it. He heard the low vibrations coming from between your legs, there was no way in hell he couldn't get hard at the sight of you in front of him bent over and whining.
"What's happening here Endeavor-san?" The way Keigo asked was in a way that made it seem like he didn't just fuck you the other day, which pissed off Enji but the burly male didn't react he just walked over to you pulling Keigo with him who had no choice to follow along. "I'm showing my cute little slut what happens when she disobeys me." When he spoke his fingers trailed along your spine making your back arch slightly, a muffled whimper escaping your gagged mouth. "And am I that punishment? I don't think-..." "Oh trust me Hawks you'll definitely love this punishment, because you get to fuck her. You get to fuck her as much as you want until you're satisfied, because let's face it you like fucking things that don't belong to you." His voice was cold as he stepped away moving to the corner of the room where a single leather couch sat, next to it a small table with a glass of whiskey sat.
Keigo stared at your body for a moment before glancing over at Enji who had a neutral expression. "C'mon get fuckin' this is a once in a life time opportunity, to fuck such a pretty little cunt." He said, you could barely even focus on the words, because the vibrator randomly went on and off so you were having multiple denied orgasms, but the number two hero removed the vibrator, using his fingers to lap up your slick in his fingers. Keigo huffed and unzipped his pants pulling out his hardened cock rubbing it against your folds which earned a desperate gasp from you, your hips pushing back into his touch, it didn't take much time for him to bury himself in those velvety walls, his cock hitting all your sweet spots making you moan out in delight against the gag.
"Does it feel good Y/N?" Enji asked and you were afraid to answer if you said no you would probably hurt Keigo's ego, but if you said yes Enji would be even more pissed off. You knew he was pissed, but you didn't know why or what you did to have Enji's wrath on you. Was this out of jealousy?
"C'mon princess, answer me~" at this point Keigo's hips had started moving, he was moving at a somewhat slow pace, but his thrusts were harsh hitting all your sweet spots just like Enji would. You gave him a slow nod. "Oh? Do you prefer his cock or mine? Oh wait, let's take out that silly little gag so I can hear you say it." You heard shifting before you felt Enji's large hand hold your face as he removed the gag, your moans were a bit more audible now too.
"Well princess? Answer nice and loud for us to both hear~" he coaxed running his thumb along your saliva coated lips, Keigo's hips smacking harshly into yours making you moan out in delight, your back arching slightly. "Y-yours...~♡" you moaned out. "Mine? Even though it's not my cock buried inside that pretty little cunt?" He sounded surprised as his hand pushed up the blindfold now, allowing you to look up into those beautiful cerulean hues, yours were glazed over tears threatening to spill out.
Dear gods you looked so fucking innocent like that it made Enji's cock throb in his pants.
"How mean Y/N~ here I am doing my best~" Keigo teased, his hands gripped your hips rather harshly as his speed now picked up. "Jealous Hawks?" Enji laughed as thumb stroked your cheek, you were losing your mind your entire body was trembling, you could feel your pussy tightening around Keigo's cock. "Nah... fuck... not when she's about to cum on my cock~" he teased Enji who watched your expression carefully, he watched the way your eyes rolled back and your tongue lulled out as you came, your hips bucking slightly.
"Don't relax yet little bird~ I'm not done yet~" Keigo teased now, his hips hadn't stopped moving, he was still slamming into your sensitive pussy, prolonging your orgasm. Then you felt it again, your pussy tightening around his cock which had him groaning. Your body was shaking now, you had cum again. "Twice in a row...~ fuck Endeavor, this pretty little bird is doing such a good job at taking my cock she even came twice." He cooed happily. Every inch of your body felt so sensitive it didn't help now that your mouth was forced open, tongue hanging from your lips as you felt that big meaty cock touch your tongue.
Enji's familiar scent filling your nose, he didn't waste any time as his cock filled your mouth, stretching your jaw out. Your jaw was always sore after you sucked off the red haired male. Enji anything but gentle, tear filled eyes now looking up at his expression, his jaw was clenched, his eyes glazed over with lust, but you could tell he was pissed off and he made that apparent with how he shoved himself down your throat causing you to gag, with wide tear filled eyes you looked up at the male, pubes tickling your nose and his balls touching your chin, saliva spilling from the corners of your mouth.
Enji said nothing, one hand held onto your chin keeping your face in place as the other threaded through your hair softly before getting a good grip on it, his hips started moving now, matching the pace of Keigo's thrusts. Your moans coming out muffled or replaced by gags, skin slapping against skin, heavy breathing and praise about how good you were taking Keigo's cock filled the room. If anyone walked in they'd see what a mess you were, your own juices flowing down your thighs, hair matted to your skin, strings of saliva connecting from your chin to Enji's balls as he violated your throat and tears streaming down your face.
"There's a good... slut. You're taking our cocks so well~" Enji cooed, everything was blurry from the tears but you knew he had a smirk on his face. "Fuck... I'm almost..." Keigo breathed out, their thrusts increased in pace, becoming harsher and harsher, until they buried themselves inside you, Enji's cock buried all the way down your throat and Keigo's cock buried all the way inside your pussy, tip kissing your cervix. Groans fell from their lips as they unloaded themselves inside you, their seeds sending a warmth throughout your body which had your eyes rolling to the back of your head. When Enji was done he pulled back, letting you breath as you coughed for air, some of his cum dripping down your chin. Keigo on the other hand had pulled out of you, hand spreading your asscheek and pussy folds watching his white load drip from your hole.
"What do you say princess?" Enji said as he ran a thumb along your bottom lip which had you whimper and tremble. "T-thank... you..." you breathed out. Enji at this point got level with your face so he could whisper in your ear.
"This is the last time you'll ever fuck other than me princess, that pussy belongs to me and no one else... if I see you spreading your legs for him... or anyone else I'm gonna fuck you in front of an entire room... everyone will know that this pretty cunt belongs to me~" Enji's voice was so demanding and you knew that he wasn't joking, after all he was never the joking type.
"You can go now Hawks, your duty is done." Enji straightened himself up as his thumb stroked your cheek softly. "Ncaw, here I thought you'd let me enjoy her some more~" "No, I had no intention of letting you enjoy her more, if you touch her again though, I'll burn your wings so you can't fly again." Keigo gave a whistle. "I'll be sure not to touch her then." The blonde haired man said as he fixed up his appearance before opening the window. "By little birdie~ don't piss off flame daddy anymore babe~" Keigo teased giving Enji a wink before leaving through the window flying out.
"Now..." Enji burnt the ropes holding you up, his free hand catching you before he picked you up and tossed you onto the bed, making you wince. "You look like a deer caught in headlights, don't worry, I'm thinking of treating you." He started as his hands trailed along your thighs, spreading your legs exposing your abused cunt. "I'm gonna fuck you until all you can think about is my cock princess~" he said with a hum as he trailed his fingers along your cheek before slipping his fingers in your mouth making you suck on his large digits.
"Now... let's get started shall we?"

[Haha I finished it, tbh Y/N got fucked so hard she literally passed out, Enji fucks her almost everyday, like when they're busy with paper work, in their free time and he may or may not have her on her knees under his desk sucking his dick while he's being briefed about some hero stuff. She can only now be satisfied by flame daddy lmao]

Voicemail: Part 3
Hawks x reader
A/n: I swear I am alive, I'm just getting my shit together for college. Anyways have my half-assed attempt at a story plot. I stopped here because I'm going through sad hours and that was really going to affect the rest of the story if I continued, I mean it still might be i’m not sure. No clue how gently I feel like being to everyone's feelings for the last chapter (don’t worry I make myself suffer too).
Part 1
Part 2
-Part 3-
Part 4
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Not alive at least. They never come back alive.”
Hawks may not have been in the facility anymore, but he could still hear the words through the speaker. After all feathers weren’t the only thing he inherited from the avian species. In-fact, a lot of predatory bird-like qualities were passed down to him, none of which were proving to be any aid.
Endeavor exited the facility talking to some of the other heroes who were caring for the two children. He looked towards the clouds watching the desperate hero who was barely able to flap his wings in a steady momentum to keep him airborne. Twitching here and there causing his flow to stutter. Feathers puffed up clearly agitated, but some others sharpened to a dangerous level. It was truly a pitiful sight. From the looks of it, Hawks was nowhere near ready to calm down. Hands were shaking while switching from clenching to unclenching, desperately wanting to hold on to something. Nail marks were indented in the palms of his gloves. Anxiety and agony evidently overriding every morsel of reason that survived up to this point. His eyes never stopped searching, gaze switching from place to place as light-speed. Endeavor could practically taste the burning red rage sourly seething through Hawks every movement. But, nothing Endeavor could say would bring Hawks from his agitated state. He had to let it fly its course. Only then would Endeavor be able to pull him back to one of the agencies where they could recuperate.
Lucky for the heroes, they had detained all the henchmen left to guard the facility. They might be able to strangle some information out of them. But, it was kinda strange that the main man would leave them there knowing that the heroes were en-route. However, as Rumi noted, leaving those men there perfectly diverted their attention from the escaping vehicle. A smart move on the abductors part.
The League was pretty pissed about the whole shebang. Torturing the earlier captured men in a more gruesome manner out of pure rage. In doing so, one of them squeaked about some sort of airport. Oh, now those two were in even deeper shit. Dabi was nice enough to inform Hawks about this new information though. Calling him over for a nice group beating.
“That’s all I know swea- ack”
Smack!
Blood splattered the ground, painting over old splotches littering the place.
Crack!
One of many bones to be shattered but the blunt head of the bat.
“I’ll ask this one for time- What fucking airport?”
Silence.
Crack!
“Hawks, the guys’ gonna be dead before you get an answer, or at least a feasible one,” Dabi grunted.
“Fucking hell,” Hawks cursed, slinging the blood dripping bat to the side of the room with an echoing thud as the wood teetered from end to end until it settled. Hands shooting to clench his golden locks in an iron grip. He squatted to the floor, head hanging low, trying to fight the urges of a predator whose prey sits before them utterly helpless.
A scarred hand grabbed Hawks’ shoulder, giving it a light squeeze. Hawks shifted his head slightly, just enough so that he could eye Dabi's own eyes from the side. So many emotions swirled within those baby blue pools of fire. Remorse, agitation, worry, and so much more, all together forming a dangerous poison. A poison which would make poor souls scream in agony for death. Something Keigo would be glad to provide.
Now the two might now get along most of the time, but when facing a common goal, they are not a pair to be trifled with.
The men in the chairs started struggles in the ropes that tied them to the splintering chair. Pulling hopelessly with all their might, but to no avail. Dabi and Hawks shifted their eyes to the bastards in front of them.
The hand, not on Hawks’ shoulder, was raised to the man's face level, resting inches away. Smoke began flaring from Dabi’s scared palm, small blue flames flickered around the heel as it heated up. The heat alone was enough to singe the man’s facial hair. Terror welled in the man’s expression as the hand was brought closer, making him whimper.
“Let's try this again.”
Horrid fumes of burnt flesh swirled throughout the air. The man was a tough one to crack, Dabi knew he would come around, he just needed a little encouragement. They got the information they wanted him. Hawks had pity on the bastard, taking a feather, slitting his throat with one quick slash. The other man could do nothing but watch as his comrade bleed out.
“Don’t worry pal, my boss has plans for you.”
No matter how much he tried to scream all that would come out was muffled sludge blocked by the gag. Dabi, patted his ashy hand on the man’s head before walking towards the door with Hawks following on his heels. The man’s thrashing only increased as he door slammed closed, leaving him with the freshly fried corpse of the other one.
“What’s the plan from here?” Dabi asked.
“If they wanted to sneak on the plane unnoticed, they would have to do it at night, when no one else could potentially spot them.”
“It's a private jet though.”
“Yes, but the guys said it was being held with other private jets.”
“Whatever, your dumbass logic gives me a headache sometimes.”
Twice popped out around the corner where they were talking.
“Please don’t screw each other in the lobby.”
“Twice, what the hell. I would rather set myself on fire.”
Hawks gave Dabi an offended glare. Dabi in return rolled his eyes, walking away from Hawks.
“Just hurry up. Go get your boy scout in line and save her already”
“Who said I was doing this as a hero?”
Dabi halted, back facing Hawks. A smirk tugged at the corners of his charred lips as his eyes darkened.
“You don’t have the balls to fly that far from the nest bud. Your stupid heroes commission the only things you truly value in society.”
Hawks glared, but held his tongue. Dabi glared back with just as much hatred taking a couple of steps back towards the winged hero.
“That damned heroes commission seems to be the only thing you seem to stay faithful to.”
“What the Hell does that mean?” Hawks squawked.
“It means you are more likely to leave her for the vultures before ignoring your duties to those shitholes. Oh, wait a second, that's exactly what you did.”
“It wasn’t like that.”
“Really now? So let me get this straight, you didn’t push her away, become a complete asshole to her because of them. Hawks at the end of the day all that matters in that brainwashed head of yours is that shitty organisation.”
“Shut up.”
“Fine, let's pretend that it wasn’t the commission pulling the strings. In that case, you are a really shitty person. I mean, you ARE the reason they're in this mess to begin with.” Hawks’ blood ran cold, Dabi gave an exasperated chuckle “What makes you think she even wants YOUR help?”
“Shut the fuck up.”
“Oh how you harm me with your words.” Dabi mocked
“Who’s fucking side are you on? Where the hell is this coming from?”
“Let’s be clear about one thing, birdbrain, just because I want her safe doesn’t mean i’m on your side. You fucked up. And that guilt is only because you feel responsible for her kidnapping, it isn’t because you’re disgusted with all the shit you put her through. So listen when I say-”
“No, you listen here, asshole. Do you honestly think I can't see the damage I did? I am not making an excuse for my behavior, looking back I can see how fucked up I was towards her. I was blessed with an angel, I had never in my life been genuinely cared about. I had never been so committed to someone, so attached to another person. Someone who felt the exact way as I did. It was terrifying.” Hawks paused face falling downwards, scrunching up to fight away the tears building up. “I didn’t have the balls to face her as time went on, so I did what I did best, I put up a front and moved forward. Avoiding our relationship, avoiding her, just because I was scared of commitment. I never bothered to think about the effects it might have had on her. I’m a real douche for doing it and I know it.”
“Shame what it took for you to figure that out.”
There was nothing sympathetic in Dabi’s tone, no, it was as sour as biting into a ripe bitter melon. Hawks said nothing, he was right after all.
“Go home Keigo. You're not welcome here right now.”
Dabi watched as Hawks turned and walked to the door. Waiting till he was about to close the door on his way out to let out one final stab.
“Oh and Keigo,” Hawks paused “when she’s safe, hope she realizes you’re not worth it.”
SLAM!
Dabi was pretty sure Hawks broke some of the hinges when he shut it behind him.
“Bastard,” He muttered, clearly not into Hawks’ delinquent behavior. Dabi stomped off to the bar to talk to the others about what to do next.
What the actual fuck, Hawks thought as he took off into the dusk set skies. Yes, he knows he screwed this up, Dabi didn’t need to rub it in anymore.
Taking out his phone, Hawks shot a text to Rumi informing her of the newly found information. It was always kind of surprising that no other hero ever questioned where all his exclusive information came from, but oh well. Hawks went straight for the place, not giving anyone time to regroup and set out a plan. It didn’t do much good last time and he wasn’t willing to risk it again. He had an hour or so before the moon set in place, if he was lucky he would make it there before anyone else did.
Wings soared through the clouds as he scanned the area below, searching for the facility. His sights locked onto a large gated perimeter, surrounding multiple runways connected to a couple of buildings housing the aircrafts. It was one of the many private airports in Tokyo, a place where the rich kept their collection of aircrafts. Hawks descended to a large window in the center of the middle building in the facility. The place seemed to be more of a showcase then anything, some of the jets looked like there were fresh out of manufacturing.
The place looked empty, no sign of any life in the facility. If it wasn’t for his abnormal vision he would be able to see anything in the pitch black room. No gates or doors were open, no runway lights shined behind him, no unusual vehicles were in sight. So either he beat everyone here, or he’s got the wrong place.
He was about to take back off into the sky when he spotted a jet that matched the description the man gave him. A sleek black metal covering, twelve square windows spaced evenly on each side of the jet’s middle, matte silver nose, blood red paint rimming the edges of the wings. It was big enough to carry a small army. The jet seemed a little out of place next to all the smaller, more compact aircraft.
It was clear the jet had yet to be tampered with. They must be waiting till the moon was at its highest to hide their escape. If that was the case they would be there for another hour or so meaning Hawks could have a look around the place. Maybe sabotage the plane enough that it might not function properly.
Using a feather Hawks carves out a circle into the glass, just big enough that he could fight through and not get stuck. The tricky part was putting the glass back into place so that the bastards weren’t suspicious of the giant whole in the window. But, he managed to do it with only a couple of close calls.
Though he was alone, Hawks still had to be careful nonetheless. Fingers felt around the side of his goggles in search of the night vision button. However, a glowing group of infrared blobs that only grew bigger by the second appeared in his sights. With great haste Hawks hide in the cramped empty space behind one of the two stairwells one either side of the balcony of the window. The tight squeeze forced his wings to fold into uncomfortable positions against the base of his back.
It stopped right outside the giant corridors leading out to the building runway. While his the blurriness of the image made it hard to fully make out he counted seven or nine of the now van sized blobs. The one in the middle was to first to make any sort of move, a panel sliding to the side as figures exited the vehicle. Others to the right and left followed suit. All filing out into the open, crowding to the center one. Though all the bodies it was he could barely make out a body hauled out onto the ground next to boxes gathered for the other vans. His attention was so zeroed in on the limp body that he didn’t notice the dozen or so figures heading for the corridor.
CREEEEAAAAK!!
The heavy metal scraped against the asphalt as it was forcefully pried open by the figures. They didn’t fully peel the doors back though, only enough so that a couple of men could head in. About six men entered the dark area, flashlights swinging around in search of anything intruder. Hawks scrunched farther into the wall, missing the beams of the one of them by millimetres allowing him to go unnoticed by the men. The continued their inspection, not very thoroughly Hawks noted, until they each gave a thumbs up signally to the others nothing was out of place.
“All clear,” One of them yelled out behind.
All six men then approach the designated aircraft. Hawks wanted to bang his head on the wall from his own stupidity, since he chose the staircase opposite of the plane.
He let out a quiet hiss of frustration; “dammit.”
Biting the inside of his cheek he started trying to devise a plan. Maybe, just maybe, he could sneak some feathers inside to take them out. So he did just that, sending one feather for each man and one extra just in case.
The men had clearly let their guard drop as they focused on their tasks. He had no problem maneuvering the feathers around them as they worked. Two men were in the cockpit, two in the carriage, one taking storage in the backroom, and the last of the six was making his way to the single bathroom of the aircraft.
The man made his way to the bathroom, stripping off his pants before pulling out a phone and doing some unspeakable things that made Hawks want to vomit in his tiny corner. The poor guy had no clue that he was going to be the first to go, Hawks literally caught the bastard with his pants down. A mental note was made to just leave the dagger in his chest, after everything he just witnessed with that feather there was no way he wanted it back in his plumage.
One down, five to go and next up was the storage guy. A feather hovered right above the back of the guy as he checked off boxes on his clipboard. Moving forward, but still sticking to the wall in order to give the feather a better angle to slash his neck. However, the bright colors contrasted with the white wall, catching the attention of the man.
“What the fuc-”
Swish
It sliced through the air, not giving the man any time to process the situation. Hands instinctively flew to his throat in a pathetic attempt to stop the life escaping him. Bright red blood seeped through the cracks between his fingers, leaking down his front as he wobbled on his feet. The harsh thud of a body crashing to the floor never sounded through the air as the feather slipped down the back of his shirt to guide him quietly to the ground. Once he was laid out noiselessly on the now red stained ground the feather took off to regroup.
They all stayed as flat as paper against the slick interior of the plane, making sure never to be in the line of sight. Three feathers arrived at their next destination, the passenger section. The two men were just goofing off. Neglecting their assigned duties in favor of gossiping like highschool girls. Hawks could help the twitching of his upper lip, sharp canines baring each time the muscles spasmed. Sexist comments were slurred back and forth between them as they talked about his dove. Feral instincts screamed at him torture them till they were pleading for death. But, he needed to keep his composure or else risk getting caught and that was not something he could really afford right now.
The feathers slithered down the aisle when the assholes turned their backs to one another. One feather took off to lock the cockpit hatch from the outside, making the two on the inside unable to interrupt Hawks. Both the men were facing the side wall of the aircraft making it easy to string two feathers into position to swoop up and dispose of them just like like the now rotting corpse in the storage compartment.
Swish
Hawks really wished he could have prolonged their suffering, but he had more important matters to worry about, unlike those sexist bastards. Oh well, he would just have to be sure to spit on their corpses later.
The last two in the cockpit worked to get the carrier up and running. Hawks could hear them from the two feathers locking inside with them as they ran their diagnostics. Just as the feathers were about to capture their lives the roaring of an engine coming to life sounded throughout the facility. Blinding bright headlights buzzed on pointing to the corridors as if asking to be let out.
CREEEEAAAAK
Hawks peered over the corner of the wall hiding him, he saw more men pulling the door fully apart to make way for the giant aircraft. With all the new lighting Hawks had to turn off the night vision mode on his goggles so he could see. Through the orange tint of his lenses he could spot [y/n]’s limp body laying on her side facing him through the legs of the surrounding guards. Her whole body looked as though they just threw her to the asphalt from the van door. A grimy brown sack covered her head that hung to the floor slightly supported by the shoulder on the ground unnaturally scrunched up by her neck. He could see the raw skin surrounding the bonds tightly wired around her bare wrists. What really unnerved him was the slow unsteady half-rise of her chest every so often. He doesn’t know if it was due to the bag covering her airway or the utterly traumatized state of her body, but it wasn’t hard to tell her lungs were starting to give way. There was no way in Hell she would make it through the plane ride. She needed medical attention and she needed it fast.
The shifting of wheels brought Hawks out of his panic as the aircraft propellers spun around in place, making the plane go forward ever so slightly. It stopped one it was centered with the doors in the front of the facility. If he slashed his feathers upon them it would surely arm the onlookers. Eyes once again shifted to the body of his dove.
Helpless. He couldn’t make a move without stirring up their attention. And if they threatened her, there wasn’t even a sliver of a chance he would make it in time.
TING
The sound echoed out from his pocket. The phone vibrated letting out another sound to alert him of a notification.
Hawks’ heart dropped to the ground as everything around him moved in slow motion. Heads took their time spinning in his direction when in reality they snapped his way in milliseconds.
He didn’t have time to look at his phone as bullets flew his way. Faster than ever, he took to the air, dodging the oncoming hellfire. Since all was turning to shit, the two cockpit feathers slashed the hell out of the men inside with zero mercy whatsoever. Using some spare feathers he sent them lashing at the tires preventing their second escape. He’d rather be plucked for everything he was worth before letting them get away again, especially not when they were so close.
His earpiece rang to life as he wound through the air.
“What the fuck is happening” a harsh feminine voice that sounded like Rumi screamed from the other side.
“Shit hit the fan, send help.”
That was all he could say before getting nailed in the right shoulder. Wings stuttered in shock, but adrenaline pushed them to keep flapping.
“Hawks!” She called.
He could barely hear her through the blazing bullets piercing through the air.
“Heading….. Minutes…… Endeavor…… Way.”
Static cut out sentences leaving him with only a couple of words from the other line. He didn’t have time to decode the meaning though.
In the midst of frantic maneuvering a blast of fire hit the window behind him sending him flying forward as a bullet lodged itself in his right thigh.
“Friendly fire!” He screamed behind him.
Now shit was really hitting the fan, Hawks thought to himself as he looped through the new hole created by none other than Endeavor. He made his way to the top of the building, the roof partially deflecting some of the ammunition flying at light speed. A new wave of confidence gassed his system with the brigade of heroes quickly approaching from behind.
“I know I annoy you, but do ya really need to fry me right now?”
Endeavor only grunted as he landed next to the winged hero, Rumi was soon to join them. The bullets had ceased to pierce the air for a moment, Hawks could hear the head guy yelling at his underlines like an abusive dog owner. Naturally they tried to retreat to their vehicles, but found the tires were lacerated enough that they were rendered useless. The yell turned into hushed whispers.
All heroes crowded up onto the roof, hastily devising a plan that would hopefully let them safely extract the beaten girl. Time was ticking fast as two beautiful lives were draining from the mother's body every wasted second. They needed to make a move and they needed to do it now.
“Fuck plans”
“Hawks don’t be rash”
Endeavor could get fucked by fire for all Hawks cared. He was going in sending flocks of lethal feathers to shred them while he used the remaining feathers to take to the sky.
It only escalated from there on. Quirks were activated from both ends, but the heroes had to be careful, they may have the upper hand power wise, but the enemies had a hostage. Hawks could see his dove start to stir among all the commotion, but his attention was quickly redirected as a first sent him flying into a wall.
In the midst of the battle one of the lackey’s managed to discreetly snag [y/n] and a couple of the packages into a small aircraft. All which were messily tossed into the back of the cargo compartment before jumping in the control seat. All engines were a go and it was off to the runway from there, splattering some of his comrades into the pavement on the way. Hawks wasn’t having it though, redirecting all of the feathers slashing around to chase the jet as it wobbled in the sky.
“Your feathers are going to do jackshit, GO!” Rumi encouraged, no longer holding back.
That was all he needed to hear, as he darted to the air, targeting with pinpoint accuracy. The door of the storage holder on the side of the jet cracked open. Opening more and more as the pilot tried to steady the plane in the sky. The jet lagged in the sky as it swerved to the side making package after package plummet out. Hawks was tailing the jet, but the pilot kept taking sharp turns to try and lose him.
Hawks spotted [y/n’s body starting to slip to the edge of the open door. One final turn from the unsteady jet was all it took to send her descending into the air. Hawks immediately dove after her, wings tucking flat to increase his speed, arms stretching out towards her, hands ready to snatch her at the first given chance.
The ground was approaching uncomfortable fast. [Y/n] was just out of his reach, fingertips brushing against her own.
His wings gave one last flutter against his back, pushing him just far enough to reach her forearm. Hawks latch his hand onto her arm hauling her into his arms before spreading his scarlet wings in an attempt to catch in the air. A hiss passed his lips as the opposing velocity strained the muscles at the base of his wings.
Just before the hit the ground Hawks caught his bearings, letting them at least land somewhat safely. He stumbled on the turf, the hand that wasn’t holding [y/n] shot out to the ground where he keeled making sure to not fall over onto her. They landed a mile or so from the gates of the airport.
BOOM!
Hawks watched as sparks erupted from an explosion a little ways from them. Looks like the poor bastard couldn’t fly after all.
His breath was heaving, the adrenaline of the situation still pumping through his body. Lifting his hand from the ground he untied the rope holding the sack over her head, pulling it off, freeing her beaten face. Scarce breaths passed through her cracked lips.
Hawks was quick to let the rest know he had her. Endeavor let out a sigh of relief through the otherside of the line. Rumi yelled with happiness. When asking about her condition, he was hesitant to say anything, only saying that he was rushing her to urgent care immediately.
Weakly she stirred in his arms, whimpering as her bound wrist rubbed the harsh unforgiving rope peeling her already raw skin. Hawks plucked a feather, slashing her wrist and ankle constraints, finally setting her aching limbs free. Tears welled in his eyes, partly because she was now in his arms once again and partly because she was suffering in his arms.
“Shhhhh, baby bird, I’m gonna get you some help okay?”
He couldn’t tell if she heard him, but he wasn’t going to bother waiting for a reply. Wings spread behind him once more, screaming at him from pure agonizing torture they had already suffered. Limbs burned, fire setting every vein ablaze with even the slightest of moments.
All it took once one more heart wrenching soft cry passing her lips to get the adrenaline rushing again. No wound or pain could hold him down as he flapped his wings aggressively through the thin air. He kept staggering up to the clouds and low to the ground. It was definitely not his smoothest flight, but it was doing the job. She was held securely in a tight embrace against his chest. One of his hands gently caressed her cheek with the thumb in an attempt to pass her his wordless love.
Some of the feathers started to give from those once giant eyes. Every feather lost was another piece of [y/n] drifting to the light of eternal rest. She was a rose that was slowly shedding its abused petals, wilting from the mortal world.
Hawks could see the hospital in his sights, in his moment of overwhelming relief he almost hit the ground, but luckily he was able to bring them both up just in time.
White doors slammed over as a body crashed onto the hospital lobby tile. The receptionist rushed over to the counter spotting the hero, wings clings around his front to cushion their landing. Looking at the lady in scrubs he lifted one of his wings revealing the beaten woman he cradled to his chest. The lady screamed for help as doctors and nurses flooded the room. A stretcher was brought in as [y/n] was carted into one of the back rooms, nurses flocking the stretcher trying to assess her state.
A separate stretcher was brought in for him. A light smile graced his face as he watched them take care of her while they hauled him onto the cart. One of the nurses was trying to ask him questions, but he paid them no mind, only watching his dove.
The smile quickly faded as he saw more doctors dash to her room, panicked expressions present on each of their faces. He tried to stay awake, he tried to hear what was going on, but the last thing he heard was a doctor yelling one word that echoed in his ears even as he lost touch with reality.
“CLEAR!”
Then everything went black.

Also I want to thank you all for reading this, it makes me so happy. I literally cried at all the love you all gave the first chapter. I wish I was kidding I actually cried.

Enjoy the series!<3 one two three four five six seven
Warnings: Extreme abuse, blood, murder, mental issues, cursing
You’ll never forget when your entire life changed for the better. The day you found your purpose, your meaning, your new family.
It all started Friday night, your least favorite night. Your father Endeavor came home early to rest every Friday to check up on your training. Over the week you were required to train 10 hours a day, eat exactly 1700 calories, and to have straight 100′s as grades. Of course, it was almost impossible to maintain such a lifestyle as a 17-year-old, but again, your father was not only the cruelest man alive, but also the 1# hero Endeavor. We’re you almost old enough to leave him? Yes, but at the same time, he would never let you do so. He owned you.
That’s when he first burned your hip.
Your siblings were Natsuo who was 25, Fuyumi who was 27, Shoto who was 20, and lastly your missing brother Touya. Sweet… sweet Touya. Over the years of having children, your father had tried to build the perfect child but had always failed. Fuyumi had been weak, Natsuo had been too kind to hurt a soul, and Shoto was too rebellious against your father. You would be too, but Endeavor had done everything to keep you “right”.
You were allowed no socializing on the any day except Sunday, you were kept on a tight schedule of modeling, tutoring, interviews, studying, and training, and your father watched you like a hawk.
With you being the last child, he could not mess up with you. You would be the next All Might if it was the last thing he did. He hit you more than any of his children, tortured you more than the rest, and yelled at you more than any of them. And all of your siblings knew that, crying themselves to the sleep at the thought of your bruised and burnt up torso.
Your father could never touch your face, you did modeling after all. Nobody could know the awful mental issues you had, or the trauma that had scarred you for life. To the public, he wanted you to be the perfect child. Beautiful… brilliant… and powerful.
God were you ever so powerful.
You took after your brother Shoto, possessing the power to control fire and ice. You could catch things on fire or ice them when you touched things, and once you did, you could control it with your mind. If you tapped the floor with your bare feet, you could start a fire and decide where it went and what it did. You could make it chase someone, make it form a heart, and eventually… kill someone.
With the power to control it’s movement, you could control the temperature of it as well. You could catch someone on fire and then make it reach over 500 degrees in an instant.
Endeavor loved it, seeing you impress even his fellow pro heroes. Your control over it was amazing, and you were beyond the best they had ever seen. You were a model too, and goodness were you pretty. You had short white hair that went to your shoulders, piercing blue eyes, and beautiful skin. You had been born with red streaks in your hair, but had bleached them out of anger when your father had hit you for not wanting to train.
You only wanted to have the hair of your mother.
He had knocked the wind out of you with a hard punch to the gut and then burnt your side hip to a crisp when kicked you. “Stand up Shiro. Prove yourself.” He yelled as you used the staircase to pull yourself to your feet, almost falling over in pain. It hurt so much to stand. “Good, now feel the consequences.” As he said that, he pushed you down on your hip, watching as you screamed in pain.
That was the day you ran out of the house, and into the nearby alley, ducking behind a dumpster to breathe. Immediately, you began to switch to a different mindset. You didn’t have DID, but you weren’t normal. One moment, you were crying, and the next you were angry. The next moment, your thoughts would jumble together and you would crave revenge in the form of violence. You had terrible anger issues and a taste of violence, taking after your old man.
Sure, you were the sweetest thing, but sometimes… you could be cruel, evil, and a demon to be around. But only when you were alone in your thoughts would you allow yourself such cravings as shooting a gun at a bulls-eye in self-defense training, or “accidentally” tripping one of your friends down the stairs.
At those moments, you felt no pity, no love, and definitely no shame in your actions. And outside of those episodes as you called it, you tried your best to ignore it. You weren’t going to stop yourself, because the more you held back, the more destruction you would cause.
And you didn’t want that, because outside of those episodes, you were sweet, innocent, even fragile. You hated seeing wounded animals, hated seeing your friend get a paper cut, and you never understood your friend’s dirty jokes. You knew what sex was, but why would you want it?
You had never even felt romantic feelings for someone.
So there you were… sitting behind a dumpster, crying. Pathetic. “Heyyy. Pretty lady. What are you doing out here? Need some help?” A college-aged man started walking towards you, two of his friends following behind. The smell of smoke and alcohol radiating off of them.
“No, leave me alone.” You insisted, hugging your knees and barely even paying attention as you tried to contain your thoughts about your father, and the searing pain in your hip. It burned like crazy. “But why, you’re pretty and crying. We’re bored and here to help.”
They kept walking as you looked up at them, shocked and a little scared as they were very close now. “Don’t come any closer! I’m warning you!” You stood up, even though they had you backed up against the dumpster and wall. “Aww, don’t be scared. Now let’s see what’s under that pretty dress of yo-”
In that moment, you sent a spear of ice through the man’s heart, blood splattering all over you in the moment. “W-what?! Hiromi?! Man, this bitch is bat-shit crazy!” As the guys were about to run, you did what your instincts told you. You sent ice spearing through their torsos too, sending them both to the ground. Slowly you walked over to them, rain starting to fall on your head. “I warned you, didn’t I?” You asked, stepping on one of them as they pleaded for you not to kill them.
“I’m not killing you. I’m just… letting you out of your misery.” Before the rain could start, you set them all on fire. Hearing their blood-curdling screams, you smiled. How nice. They’d be dead before the rain could pick up. Walking down the alleyway, you listened to their screaming of pure music to your ears. You loved every bit of it.
In that moment, your entire life changed. You began your journey on your way to your true passion. You were able to get yourself a custom mask from a shady store in the down-country, and started your new life. Whenever you got bored or your father pissed you off, you would slip on the mask, pull up your hair into your hoodie, and kill.
Your mask was amazing too. It was a bright red gas mask, which hid your entire face except for one of your blazing blue eyes. It was amazing, watching your victims stare at your one eye as you killed them. They were looking into the same eye as the pro hero Endeavor, your father, and that made you smile. The man who made your life hell had made the latest and greatest new villain in town.
“Again? God, when I get my hands on you I’m going to make you pay!” Endeavor yelled at the tv in his office, sitting at his desk with his feet held high. You were sitting in the chair against the wall near him, sketching in your book. Your father had brought you to work to meet your future teachers, since there was a villain on the loose and he didn’t want you at UA, one of the main targets. Little did he know she was right next to him.
“What are you talking about Dad?” You asked, looking up from your book. Unlike your siblings, your father made you call him that, since none of his children had ever called him anything near it. He had said it showed that you saw him as a father figure, respected him, loved him, saw him as a caregiver, and gave you an innocent appeal that contradicted your powerful and aggressive quirk. The word had lost any meaning to it.
“Shiro, this villain will be your competitor when you become a pro hero. Look at them. Sources say they’re known for burning their victims bodies so we cannot find fingerprints, or anything. We don’t have a face to go with it, or even a picture of them in general. The only thing is that they believe it may be a female based on the laugh heard, and that they wear a bright red gas mask to hide their identity. It’s brilliant!”
“This bitch has killed over 75 people, and has burnt over 2 million in property damage. This is next level stuff for one person. If we can’t take them down, you will have to.” Endeavor sat back in his chair, returning to his computer. That was about the amount of conversation you would have with him on the weekly.
That was, until you heard an explosion outside, and yelling. Running to the window and standing on your tip toes, you looked out to see the League of Villains on the streets, all running around. Blue flames circled the streets, and you wanted to go join. You had your hoodie and mask in your back pack, and you wanted to get in on the fun, get some promo on the news. The very thought of people seeing your one blue eye was exciting, and sent shivers down your spine.
“Dad, let’s go o-” You were dragged from the window and thrown to the ground. “Get under the desk Shiro! Don’t be an idiot!” He yelled, not caring that you had hurt your ankle in that moment. With hesitation, you walked behind the desk, bringing your bag with you. “Good, now don’t move. Remember, you don’t get to fight professional villains until you’re a pro yourself.” Endeavor explained, picking up a few things to bring with him downstairs.
“I don’t want to be a hero.” You mumbled, rocking back and fourth as you held your legs. “What did you say to me?” He screamed angrily as you looked up, not knowing that he heard you. “N-no! Dad! I didn’t- I didn’t mean to say that. I just- eck!” You screamed as his hand came to hit your face, leaving a large bruise.
“Don’t you dare bitch! You don’t get to say what you want and don’t want! I wanted a son, but look at what I got! Now you’re going to fucking listen!” His hand came to punch the other side of your face, knocking your head into the desk.
“Fuck, if I had a belt I would whip you senseless.” He murmured as you started crying. “I-I’m sorry… just stop…” You cried, trying to hide your face between your knees. “Oh I’m not letting you get off this easy! Your brother said the same thing, and I’m not making the same mistake again!”
As you tried to hide, he grabbed a box-cutter off his desk and sent it into your hip. “Now don’t you try to leave this room.” He mumbled, walking out without hesitation, leaving you to bleed on his floor.
The cut was deep, and you were loosing blood fast.
Only being able to listen to the outside, you could hear the commotion calm down within minutes before your old man walked in. “Get up. Your future UA teachers will be here in five minutes. Put your jacket around your waist.” He threw it at you as you picked yourself up. “Don’t speak unless you’re told to. Got it?” He asked as you slowly nodded, trying to pull yourself together and wipe the tear marks away before two men stepped through the door.
One had black hair and a man bun, and the other had long blonde hair that he kept down. You recognized them immediately. Radio sensation, UA teacher and pro hero Present Mic with his husband Eraserhead, who was a UA teacher and a low key pro hero as well.
“Ahh, Shiro! We’ve heard so much about you! Hello!” Present Mic came to shake my head as you shook his, still shaking as Aizawa looked at my bruise. “Ahh, I… fell.” You hesitated, laughing as the two smiled nervously. These two worked with kids… so could they sense your fear. Could they help you?
“Um, let’s sit. Of course you were recommended, but I’d love to see your quirk in more action.” Aizawa motioned to your father’s couch as you all began to walk over there. But in the moment, your jacket fell off your waist, showing your crisped and bloody t-shirt from your father earlier. You could see the burn mark of a hand print even. “Oh my god! Shiro dear!” Present Mic got up to help you before you pushed him away gently. “I fell earlier! If you’ll excuse me I’ll just be a minute!” You rushed out of the room, leaving the jacket on the floor as you grabbed your backpack and sprinted out. You had to get out of the there, to take a break from your father.
You didn’t care if it ruined your shots at UA or gave you a bad reputation with your teachers early on. You refused to sit there and bleed while they talked about your future.
As you were waiting for the bathroom, you looked outside to see the League of Villains within the forest. Without thinking, you ran outside and into the forest after them. You didn’t know why, but it felt like destiny was calling you. That was, until you saw Best Jeanist sneaking up on one of the members.
He had black pointy hair and wore a cloak-like jacket that was also black. Very emo. Slipping on your mask and hoodie before anyone could spot you, you snuck up behind him. Just as Best Jeanist was about to attack and spit cloth strings around Dabi, you tapped your foot, sending ice to Best Jeanist to freeze him like an ice cube.
“Look out!” You screamed as he turned around to see the frozen pro. “Huh.” He whispered to himself, before turning to face you. With a clear view of you, he could see the red gas mask and knew that you were the one who the news networks had been talking about non-stop. The lonesome villain with a fantastic kill list. But… then he looked closer. He saw how on your hip was burnt to a crisp from someone’s hand, the bruise on your one eye, your bright white hair, and… the bright blue eye. After adding everything together, he realized something.
“Shiro.” He whispered in shock, before you feel to your knees due to dizziness.

First Patrol part 4 (Hawks x reader)
Hello!! So uhhhh, I’ve been busy and a little unmotivated with school lately so I forgot to post this chapter haha. I’m definitely going to start writing more because I keep forgetting how much I really enjoy it. I hope everyone’s school year is going okay so far! I’m also thinking of writing for some other fandoms too :)
Here is parts 1, 2, and 3
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The warehouse was dark, it smelled stale. You went as slow as possible behind Hawks. You could barely see Hawks’s crimson feathers through the dark of the warehouse.
You could only hear faint voices coming from below. Besides the voices of the inhabitants of the building, you didn’t hear anything. Not the soles of Hawks’s boots, not the ruffling of his feathers, not even your own movements. When you were about halfway down the stairs, your eyes adjusted. The wooden stairs below you was riddled with splinters and dust. The grey paint was chipped from the walls. You saw a large metal door a couple feet from the base of the stairs. A sliver of light was escaping from under it.
You heard Hawks’s movement for the first time since entering the warehouse. He held up a fist, signaling you to stop. He was standing at the bottom of the steps, you still on the last. You were eye to eye now. He leaned in close to you, making sure you caught his whispers.
“I want you to open that door and stand to the side. I’ll go in and give you a signal when it’s safe.” You nodded in response. You snuck to the right side of the door, keeping your back against the wall. Hawks held up three fingers. He put one down, then another. Until he had just a tight fist. You grasped the handle and swung the door open for him.
You didn’t even see him move. A blur of tan and a tornado of red was all your brain could register. You pressed your back against the cold wall and waited for his signal. You heard blows landing and gusts of wind from the other side of the wall.
After a few deep huffs and a ruffle of his feathers, Hawks’s voice emerged from the room.
“Let’s keep going. They’ll know we’re here by now.”
Walking into the room you had no idea how Hawks produced so little sound. There were four men sprawled out on the ground, it seemed like they barely had time to activate their quirks before Hawks took them out. After scanning the debris and incapacitated bodies of the room, you followed closely behind Hawks as he led you through another doorway and down a corridor. You stayed as silent as possible, not wanting to attract any attention.
As you journeyed deeper into the compound you heard the sounds of Burnin and Endeavor wreaking havoc on the first floor.
“Stay alert.” Hawks whispered. “Stay behind me.”
Up ahead was another doorway. The metal doorframe was scorched black. Hawks crept towards the doorway with his back against the wall. He turned to you and held up a hand.
‘Stay here.’ He mouthed. You nodded.
He continued to creep forward until he was just outside of the doorway. He then sprinted around the corner and into the large room.
The sounds of footsteps pounded on the concrete floor.
“I was wondering when you would show up!” A gravely voice emitted from the room. As if it were an oven, blue flames began to burst from the room.
‘Fuck! It’s that burned guy!” You panicked to yourself. If Hawks can’t quell the flames with gusts of wind, he’s done for. And if his feathers get burned up, he won’t have any way to fight. Once the flames seeped back into the room, you ran around the corner to Hawk’s side.
“Kid, get out!” He scolded you once he saw you enter. Some of his wings on his right wing were scorched.
“No, Hawks. You need help.” For a short second, his caring gaze turned into an irritated glare. Why was he so eager to take on a dangerous villain by himself?
“Oh? A twerp from U.A too? What’s their quirk?” Dabi stared at you with something like a hunger as flames licked his palms.
“Shut up, Dabi!” Hawks detached one of his biggest feathers and readied himself to charge.
“I’m just having some fun..” Dabi raised his hand and Hawks began to sprint towards him, his feather raised high. “.., Keigo.”
Dabi’s words made Hawks stumble to a stop.
“How the hell do you kn-?” His question was interrupted by fire spewing from Dabi’s hands. You manifested a force field in front of Hawks just before the blast reached him. You felt the intensity of the deflected flames as they flickered against your shield.
“Oh. I remember you from the sports festival. What was it, fourth place?” Dabi was ignoring Hawks, circling the room to get a better look at you. His eyes seemed hungry and crazed.
“Don’t forget about me!” Hawks flew in from behind your barrier with incredible speed and struck Dabi on the arm with his feather.
Before Dabi could counter with a flame attack, you created a bubble force field around him.
“Shit.” Dabi chuckled as he knocked at the walls of your force field. He was forced to take a step back when Hawks suddenly pounded on the sphere.
“Where’s the hostage, Dabi?” Hawks practically growled the question.
“Hostage?” Dabi cocked his head to the side, a smug smile still on his face.
“Yeah, you fried bastard. The hostage.” Dabi chuckled. His laugh bounced off the walls of the sphere, distorting it slightly into a more chaotic and devious sound.
“There’s no hostage, shit brain.”
Hawks frowned and stepped back. He stepped towards you.
“Kid, get out.” His hand was on your shoulder now. Urging you towards the room’s only window.
He helped you onto the ledge.
“Aren’t you coming?” Hawks had to come with you, right? This had to be a set up of some kind, a trap.
“In a minute. But you go.” He was still holding your forearm from when he helped you up. You gripped his arm.
“No. You’ll get hurt, it’s a trap. Just come with me.” An interruption from your distressed pleading was brought by Dabi.
“Don’t worry, Hawks. They’re going.” You both looked at Dabi still encased in your force field. A dark shapeless mass began to appear around him. He become encased in the cloud and disappear. Hawks’s grip on your arm tightened and he tried to pull you closer. However, a force was pulling you out towards the window. You looked at your waist to see the same black cloud slowly swallowing your lower half.
You desperately clung to Hawks as the force pulled at you. Hawks held you by your forearms and flapped his wings, trying to pull you out.
“It’s okay. It’s okay. Try to push yourself out with a platform.” At this point you were hyperventilating. But you tried your best to suck in at least one steady breath before creating a platform under your feet.
Wherever your bottom half was, you were able to get a platform under your feet. You began to push upward towards Hawks.
The sudden feeling of someone grabbing your ankles made you shriek.
“Something grabbed me!” He continued to pull as hard as he could.
“It’s okay. We got this. Hold on.” Most of your chest had already disappeared. The cloud was swallowing you faster and faster.
Hawks grunted as he sent a couple feathers up the sleeves of your suit in a desperate effort. Your eyes widened as the cloud engulfed your neck.
“I’ll find you, Kid. I’ll find you and come get you. It’s o-.” Soon you weren’t able to hear Hawks. Nor see him. Only his grasp on your arms remained. However, that soon was gone too. The black cloud had swallowed you entirely.

Tbh I feel kind of indifferent to, if not straight up let down by, the Mirio reveal (tho perhaps that’s bc I was hyping myself for a Jeanist - Hawks “how to get away with (fake) murder” flashback for the past 2 weeks). I don’t know - I just feel like one big reveal after another is getting kind of old (I highly doubt there will be any more, besides maybe Monoma and the rest of Class 1B coming in as backup next chapter since they were foreshadowed by Juzo and Setsuna). (1/5)
Like - there’s definitely build up to a Mirio returning. I’m not going to deny that. But it also just feels like a deus ex machina moment - especially since? Where the hell was he before now??? Idk. Maybe it’s just bc I feel pretty neutral about Mirio as a character. One thing I am interested in the possibility of him returning would be the HPSC injecting themselves into his life (and also have more involvement in UA in general). (2/5)
With Endeavor and Hawks potentially ruined, I could see them looking at Mirio - a shiny new icon with no skeletons in his closet - and trying to promote him to quell the unease set about by the destruction this arc. He was commented on being closer to #1 than anyone else (a comment I always thought was weird until now), which I think is foreshadowing for perhaps him being pushed into the #1 spot. (3/5)
Honestly, as a Hawks fan, it kind of irks me just bc going too fast and taking on too much responsibility was Hawks’ thing, and Mirio replacing him is just - urgh. On the other hand, Hawks potentially separating from the HPSC (vigilante Hawks mayhaps??) would be really relieving to see. There’s also the fact that one of the big themes is that there shouldn’t be a whole bunch of responsibility on any 1 person’s shoulders (a big lesson Midoriya needs to learn) (4/5)
and so I think a potential storyline of Mirio struggling with his new role could be eye-opening to Midoriya and really drill that into him. Then again, maybe I’m reaching and there won’t be any plot like that! But the potential of Mirio replacing Hawks as the HPSC protege (I wonder if they’ll try to get their hands on Eri…) was one of my first thoughts seeing him return in this critical moment. They might still keep Hawks around for spy stuff tho idk (5/5)
I always love hearing your thoughts Robin! (...sorry it took me so long to reply though T-T)
To be honest, I was disappointed with the Dabi reveal happening this arc because it felt like too much happening too quickly (plus it kind of trumped Shigaraki’s big moment as well which is strange to see considering Shigaraki’s moment should have been the climax considering he’s the main villain of the series. I guess Horikoshi was trying to shake it up a little but I think he’s undermined Shigaraki in doing so (at least imo)), and so I do agree with you about how you feel about Mirio’s return too.
The question of where the hell he’s been is one that’s been plaguing me as well. It’s not like he was Best Jeanist, who needed to stay hidden until the time was right or it could ruin the raid, not do that League have any sort of connection to Eri anymore that Mirio returning on the field would be such a huge shock.
If I were to reach, there is the potential that he was purposely held back until the situation was dire so his appearance would bring hope to the heroes and civilians watching the broadcast (much like Best Jeanist did) but then that also has the heavy implications that the HPSC predicted this could be the fallout (which would be something I could see the HPSC doing considering they’ve had no qualms about sacrificing civilians before). It’s just a very suspicious circumstance for Mirio to arrive just the moment they needed him.
And as much as it hurts to think about Hawks being tossed aside, I could see the HPSC focusing on someone else if it meant boosting the trust the public has in them and heroes that Hawks would struggle to achieve due to the fact that public would probably still doubt him. It would be extremely heartbreaking to see as a Hawks simp (but I would hope the heroes would have his back in that case).
It would be interesting for Mirio to be a proxy for Deku to show him what happens when a person is given to much responsibility for him to handle by himself, especially because Mirio is supposed to represent the ‘perfect’ successor of One for All. I could also see Deku once again contemplating giving One for All up to Mirio (with the HPSC maybe be pressuring him too) because of such a fact. It would be major Deku angst for sure and would be a good way to explore his insecurities once again as well as look into the corrupt parts of the hero system as well.
Only time will tell what Hori is planning to do with Mirio. I’ll be annoyed if he’s just used as a deus ex machina though :/

my thoughts on the en.deavour redemption arc (chs 164 - 302). DO NOT REBLOG.
DO NOT REBLOG !!
the endeavour redemption arc is a rather controversial arc in the manga, and, tl;dr: i think it started eh, continued badly, turned better, then ended like shit.
note: if you are anime only, this will contain spoilers ! trigger warnings: child abuse, domestic abuse, suicide, and murder.
here are the things we know: endeavour physically abused shōto, tōya, and rei. he ignored natsuo and fuyumi, and he discarded tōya once he realised that tōya got burnt through using his quirk. he also mentally and emotionally abused all of them. separated shōto from the rest of his siblings. not to mention the fact that he married rei on purpose in order to create the perfect tool that would become the number one hero in his stead. he thinks of his children as objects, as extensions of himself.
however, endeavour, not out of his own power but because of all might's lack of strength, ends up reaching the number one spot as a hero by himself. this kickstarts endeavour's "redemption" arc, particularly in chapter 164 when endeavour asks all might:
endeavour: you hear about this? how the crime rate this past month... is up 3% compared to past years? i... i'm the guy who resolved more incidents than anyone, now more than ever... but i can hear it. the thing you've built that cannot be seen... is crumbling down. so, #1 hero... what's it mean to be the symbol of peace? (ch 164)
in a lot of ways, this question is surprising to hear. as we can tell even in the question itself, endeavour's main area of focus has been about the amount of incidents that he has stopped, the amount of villains that he has defeated, but recognising that there was something missing, something that all might had built up, certainly shows an awareness that endeavour seemed to lack earlier.
in the next chapter, the conversation continues:
endeavour: i gave shōto everything. by age 20, i'd already climbed to the #2 position. it was because i made that climb that i understood... unless i reached the summit, it was all for nothing. if all i cared about were titles, i could've worn a smile like you... and played the part of the lovable fool. but i wanted to be the strongest! [...] all might: endeavor. the position you've been put in... i know what people are saying. a lot of people compare us. but you and i are different. the symbol i strove to be... that isn't the path for you to follow. take your time to figure out... ...the way you ought to do things. (ch 165)
again, we still see that hint of same sort of "all he cares about strength". being number one was all about being stronger than all might, which is why when he found it impossible for him, he went on to try to create something that could end up being stronger than both him and all might. that would be, after he beat it into shape.
also, the fact that he says "i gave shōto everything". (yeah, you gave the poor kid trauma if that's what you mean by "everything".) that's something some abusers routinely say about their children -- that they gave them everything, that they should be grateful.
at the end of the chapter, we see shōto warmly giving a little girl a small fire to put her hands next to when she was chilly, a smile on his face, and endeavour has a weird look as all might says:
all might: what purpose does our strength serve? endeavour... the answer is a simple one. (ch 165)
this is what sets the tone for endeavour's part of his conversation with shōto in the next chapter.
endeavour: i'm proud of you, son. on that note... i'm hoping to become a hero you can be proud of. as your father and the #1 hero... i want to be deserving of those titles. shōto: [clearly aggravated and tense] good luck with that... (ch 165)
inasa sees endeavour talking to shōto and notices how his eyes have changed from being cold and not looking at anyone around him to actually focusing on shōto. as such, the readers are basically hinted to see that endeavour has changed, even just a little, already. he's no longer just looking at all might as the summit he needs to climb; he's actually seeing the people around him.
now, this kickstarts endeavour's arc of thoughts that being a better #1 hero would mean that he would be a better father. this we especially see in the endeavour v. nomu arc.
i think the first interesting conversation we have about the endeavour's redemption arc is in chapter 187 with natsuo and fuyumi visiting rei in the hospital. natsuo says,
natsuo: about him... they made him number one yesterday. it's official. the world still doesn't know the truth about you [rei]. about our siblings... about how he's always treated his family. for one, he doesn't do the talk show circuit. i can barely remember most of it, really. thinking back, he was like a perfect stranger. but... what he did to you, to shōto, and to... [tōya/dabi] well, i can't let anyone pretend it all never happened. it's been almost ten years, and he still hasn't come to apologise to you. his past, his family... it's like he wants to leave it all behind. [...] rei: apparently he's [endeavour] come many times. though... we haven't met. i'm a bit scared though... and my doctor says it's not a good idea. of course, i can't say what he's thinking. it might be external pressures. but... he's not leaving anything behind. not his past. not his family. i know he's trying to make sense of it all. (ch 187)
he's also apparently been leaving rei flowers, flowers that she told him that were her favourite once when they met for the first time.
i actually think in this aspect, it's good that he hasn't actually seen rei or pushed himself onto seeing her. he's letting her take control of her own recovery (although, i will say it's pretty fucking telling that even after a decade, she's still scared of him). i'd argue that the flowers might be crossing the line, but it seems that rei thinks of them as a nice gesture, so i'm not going to argue about how that could be perceived negatively.
the battle between endeavour and the nomu gets serious, and endeavour nearly dies (which is broadcasted on TV for shōto to see, ofc).
in chapter 189, we see three different characters' thoughts on endeavour never giving up (some of it in particular directed towards his fight towards surpassing all might and being number one via strength alone).
natsuo: he knows better than anyone... that he'll never be the next all might! that's why he gave up so quickly... and basically went insane... abandoning the kids he didn't care for... and driving mom to the breaking point... [...] fuyumi: he never gave up. in fact, giving up is what he's worst at. [...] hawks: i was watching you this whole time. i get it. there was nobody else out there... really trying to surpass him [all might]. only you! you were the one working to surpass him. [manga showing endeavour building a small bridge over the chasm that metaphorically separates all might from the rest of the heroes] (ch 189).
i actually agree with fuyumi here more than anyone. endeavour marrying rei and creating his children wasn't because he was giving up (for one, he thinks of his children as extensions of himself...) but part of his way of trying to surpass all might. he also continued to work and get stronger himself, which he wouldn't have been doing if he had just given up.
that being said, i do agree with natsuo's description of their childhood, just not about it being because endeavour gave up.
also, from a narrative perspective, the shift of endeavour's obsession with surpassing all might being thought of as negative (from shōto's statements of it in the sports festival arc) to positive (you're the only one who actually tried!) through hawks point of view is... interesting. horikoshi is re-contextualising endeavour's obsession as a good thing, and that, in point, is done to soften endeavour's actions overall.
after all, if it's a good thing that endeavour was trying to surpass all might, then doesn't his actions against his family make a little bit more sense? doesn't that mean that he had good intentions, even if he did something bad?
(nope. not in my book.)
so, the next part of this arc happens in 192, where endeavour comes home from the hospital and after defeating the nomu with a huge scar on his face (the exact same side as shōto's!), and we get that beautifully passive aggressive "nasty scar you got there" from shōto while he's slurping up soba noodles.
and then natsuo tries to leave and this conversation starts:
endeavour: natsuo... if you got something to say, then say it. natsuo: say it...? that's rich, coming from a guy who's never even looked me in the eye. listen to this... i didn't know shōto loved soba until today. why? because you never let him play with us failed experiments. i get the feeling that mom and sis here want to forgive you, but all i see is the same maniac who, all of a sudden, is getting rave reviews. you might look like a changed man, but you're not. you abandoned us as failures, left us to hear mom's screams, shōto's cries. and big bro tōya too... you being the top hero and beating some big baddie can't erase any of that. did you decide to have a change of heart?! think we can just hug things out and make up?! it's sickening! don't you freaking get that?! endeavour: i'm trying to make amends, going forward. natsuo: is that so?! [leaves] (ch 192)
for one, god fucking bless natsuo. i think he fully encapsulates my issue with this part of the endeavour redemption arc, which is solidified by shōto's own speech:
shōto: as a hero, this endeavour guy... is pretty darn amazing. but it's like natsu said. i'm not ready to forgive you... for abusing mom. so, heroics aside, what sort of dad are you going to be? that's what i want to find out. sure, the perfect turning point can actually change someone. i know it's possible. (ch 192)
endeavour doesn't need to be a perfect hero to earn redemption from his family. hell, even when shōto hated endeavour the most, he could admit that endeavour was a great hero. maybe his reasons for being a hero was off, but he saved people, he stopped the bad guys. i think it's even canon that he's technically saved more people than all might.
the problem was never with "endeavour", it was with "todoroki enji". todoroki enji was a shit father who didn't give a shit about his kids aside from what he could use them for. he was too obsessed with defeating all might that he lost sight of his family -- which endeavour finally seems to realise after this little speech.
endeavour's thoughts: [having a flashback to all might saying "what purpose does our strength serve?"] power... a reason to dominate... when he told me that, it came to me in a flash. an ordinary, simple thought. "i have to safeguard the future for them." that's the job for whoever's on top! and yet... what about the futures i cut short? [image of rei in the midst of a mental breakdown] just demanding forgiveness isn't enough. it's too late for that. at this point, i need to atone... there's no other route. endeavour out loud: fuyumi, i'm sorry for everything. that was the wrong thing to say to natsuo. (ch 192)
we see actual growth in his character, him actually starting to learn what he should be focusing on rather than what he was focusing on. he still slips up, like with him trying to demand shōto's attention through texting with contact information that he only got because FUYUMI gave to him (ch 203), which i have my own issues with. as in, fuyumi better have asked shōto permission before giving endeavour his contact information because, if not, then holy fucking shit, that's so gross.
in the next part of the endeavour redemption arc, we have shōto in chapter 242 invite izuku and katsuki to join him with training at endeavour's hero agency.
we still see hints of endeavour only really thinking of shōto as an extension of his will and his beliefs when he asks izuku and katsuki in chapter 247 what they're working on and what they want to achieve. he starts to move in without even asking shōto, which shōto objects to in his own way.
endeavour: let's get to it -- shōto: [clears throat] and me? endeavour: you're here to master flashfire, shōto! shōto: all the quirk training you beat into me as a kid... i've put it into practise with my right side. thinking back, it's no wonder i couldn't escape my own hatred of you. then i got into u.a. competing alongside these two [izuku and katsuki]... and everyone else... really opened my eyes. endeavour... in the end... i'm going to do exactly what you always wanted. but please understand... the man i admire... is the one mom and i watched on the tv back then. [all might]. as a fledgling hero... in order to become a man worthy of the title... i came here of my own free will! you're a rotten number one*. you were just in the right place at the right time -- that's all. sorry this isn't going the way you want it to, number one. so let's stop that father-son crap in front of my friends. endeavour's thoughts: since he was willing to come here, i thought the boy's heart was open and ready to accept me... what a fool i was! i had it all wrong! endeavour out loud: right. i'll be evaluating you three as heroes. (ch 247) *the translation isn't quite accurate, but i don't have access to the original japanese right now to translate myself. i just remember that this translation isn't the best.
once again, we do see that endeavour is learning. shōto expresses his feelings and endeavour tries to move on from there in the way that shōto wants him to -- and he does ! he stops acting like he's close to shōto as a dad in front of the others and acts only like a hero training an apprentice (without the abuse that happened all throughout shōto's childhood).
i think this and what happens in the next part of this internship arc, is probably the best written bits of the endeavour redemption arc.
by that, in chapter 249, we open with this inner dialogue from endeavour:
endeavour: i'm trying to make amends... going forward. it might be too late... but i fall asleep every night thinking about... what i can do for my family. lately, it's been the same dream. the wife and kids, looking happy... at the dinner table. but i'm... never there with them. (ch 249)
this kickstarts his decision that he gives to natsuo later, but before we get there, we get this awkward todoroki family dinner with izuku and katsuki. izuku finally finds out that katsuki overheard them during the sports festival, and fuyumi and shōto talk when they think they're alone.
fuyumi: it's not like i don't share some of natsu's feelings... but... it feels like we've been given another chance now... how do you feel about dad? shōto: this burn... i think of it as something our old man gave me. [cue horrific flashback of the aftermath of rei pouring boiling water on shōto's face and immediately apologising] mom endured and endured... until she couldn't anymore. so, i can't just decide to forgive the guy who wore her down... but... mom is trying to get past all that now. honestly... i don't know... how i should feel about him. i still... haven't seen anything. [...] izuku: todoroki, i think... you're getting yourself ready to be able to forgive him. just say "i'll never forgive him" if you really hate the guy. because you're so caring yourself... it's like you're waiting... or at least that's how it seems. (ch 249)
i think each of the siblings (including tōya / dabi!) really showcases a lot of the different reactions children can have towards abuse. fuyumi is the type who fully embraces the abuser back because they want to become a family again. shōto is the type who isn't quite sure but doesn't want to just kick the abuser down if he's actually trying to change. natsuo is the type who just does not want to be around the abuser at all and doesn't think the abuser can change. tōya / dabi is the vengeful one who literally wants the abuser dead or feeling how he caused them to feel.
i also have an issue with how izuku words this to shōto -- does that mean that natsuo is not caring? should he not be upset with endeavour for all of the abuse, and, in natsuo's thoughts, for causing tōya to die? he cares too much, and that's really it, and i think endeavour (funnily enough) encapsulates my thoughts on that completely.
for context, natsuo gets kidnapped and held hostage by a villain who wants endeavour to kill him. the villain is threatening to kill natsuo if endeavour doesn't kill him. endeavour chokes on the save aside from catching katsuki and natsuo after the boys implement their plans to rescue natsuo, stop the villain, and save the civilians. then, endeavour has this to say:
endeavour: i'm sorry! in that moment... i couldn't help but think... about how if i saved you... then going forward... you might feel... like you couldn't stand up to me... natsuo, believe it or not... i was never trying... to neglect any of you. but... all i could do was blame others and dodge responsibility. with tōya too... i might as well have killed him myself. natsuo: didn't neglect us? so what...? tōya has always told me everything. it'll be a cold day in hell... before i forgive you. 'cause i'm not as caring as shōto. endeavour: even so... even so... you keep showing up for fuyumi, right? and for your mom's sake? your sister loves the idea of being a big happy family... because... that's exactly what i ruined. she wants that back... she's so eager to fix everything. and that's why you're trying. because you care about how she feels, right..? because you are caring. so... you don't have to forgive me. i'm not looking for forgiveness. just atonement. natsuo: [starts crying] wow. you got a real way with words all of a sudden! i know how happy it makes sis, having us all together! but... when i see your face... those memories come rushing back. why do i gotta be the one to come around? atonement? how're you gonna make that happen? endeavour: i have an idea, actually. (ch 252).
endeavour saying "i wasn't trying to neglect any of you" is such a fucking backslide, but he somewhat saves it with explaining why. at the same time, the explanation doesn't really matter -- he did neglect natsuo and fuyumi. however, the next bit of it, when he says that natsuo does care, and that it's okay for natsuo to never forgive him -- that was real fucking character growth, and we see it come to a beautiful place at the end of the chapter where endeavour talks with fuyumi and natsuo.
endeavour: fuyumi. i've already talked about this with shōto and natsuo. you've been doing your best to create a safe and sound household for your mother to come home to. i've let you shoulder all of that... and i stood by while you worked hard... but it's all okay now. [thoughts: it's always the same dream. my whole family's there, but not me.] because i'm building a new house for you all. one that makes sense for your commutes. and one where you can give your mother a warm welcome back. fuyumi: what about you, dad...? endeavour: [thoughts: if i really care about how they feel...] i'll remain here. (ch 252)
this is where i fucking cheered. this is where i really thought horikoshi was going to save this arc. abusers forcing their presence on the family is absolutely the wrong way to do it. endeavour trying to be the "best hero" is absolutely the wrong way to do it. endeavour stepping back, making sure that they're all comfortable, but (most likely) being there when they want to reach out on their terms in the way that they want to -- that's beautiful. that's actual growth. that's literally the best decision any abuser can make ever; leaving it in the hands of the people he abused.
in this part, in this moment, i could have accepted the endeavour redemption arc. i might not have agreed when shōto decided that he could see endeavour as a father (depending on when it would happen in canon and what would cause it), but in this regard, i could actually see redemption.
and then we get the fucking shitshow that is dabi reveal arc and the dabi backstory arc, and then i just want to throw away the whole fucking redemption arc.
in chapter 290, we get the dabi is todoroki tōya reveal (surprise, surprise /j). tōya, being the dramatic bitch that he is, washes off the probably water-soluble black dye off of his white hair and tells endeavour and shōto that he's tōya and that he's been waiting for years to take endeavour down and that he's sending out a broadcast to every TV station live detailing about endeavour's abuse of his family.
dabi: when, at long last, you could stare your kids in the eye... didja finally start to feel the warm and fuzzy bonds of family?! you must've thought, "as long as i can face the future, i can be better!" i can tell you're at a loss for words, so here's the answer! the past never dies! get it, yet?! you reap what you sow! so let's tango, you and me -- todoroki enji! a dance with your son, here in hell!! (ch 290).
in chapter 291, we continue the dabi reveal (including a 99.9% match between his DNA and endeavour's DNA as proof of their relation! hint: that's not actually fucking possible, but i'm pretty sure that's either a translation error or a wording issue) in the public eye. we get this fun little monologue from endeavour in the beginning of the chapter:
endeavour's thoughts: i thought it could be you [tōya]. you could have been the one... to reach my eternal goal. my frustration... my envy... the ugliness in my heart... you could have been the one... to smash it all to dust.
again, we get that whole "using child as an object/extension of endeavour" thing that has characterised endeavour for a long time. tōya shouldn't have been created to fix his frustration about not becoming number one himself.
regardless, endeavour stays in shock for the rest of the battle, unable to even move despite the fact that shōto managed to pull himself together in order to try to save everyone on the battlefield despite dabi trying to kill him.
we then go to chapter 300, where endeavour wakes up in his hospital room and ruminates on everything that he had done. he cries and expresses guilt, especially on how things played out with tōya when he was a child, and he declares that "i might get to live on... but endeavour died back there. my son's a mass murderer, yet... i can't fight him." (ch 300).
then, shōto, natsuo, and fuyumi enter the room while endeavour continues to cry.
endeavour: sorry... i'm... so sorry. i'm sorry... i didn't realise until now... these regrets... this guilt... it's too late to matter! my heart... it's... rei: [walking into the room] yes? what about your heart? those regrets and guilt... the rest of us have borne that burden... much more than you have. endeavour: rei?! why are you here?! rei: i'm here to talk about our family. and about our son, tōya. (ch 300).
this jumpstarts into a flashback of what caused tōya's "death", and i think in some truly horrific scenes that i think horikoshi writes in a way that we're supposed to feel some level of sympathy for endeavour. reading all of that makes me feel even -infinity sympathy for endeavour.
in chapter 301, we start the flashback into the past, where tōya wants to continue quirk training but endeavour begins to discard him, saying that it was for tōya's own good (because he burns himself when he uses too much fire). unfortunately, tōya doesn't care about his own burns, he just wants his dad's approval and wants to surpass all might himself.
endeavour, meanwhile, is still focused mostly on creating a child that would surpass all might, as we see in this conversation between endeavour and rei:
rei: no... that would be too much! it's too cruel! especially now that tōya knows what you're hoping to achieve through the children! endeavour: no matter what i say... he comes home with fresh burns every day. he inherited that pigheaded stubbornness from me! that's the only way to make him give up! since he'll never be the one to surpass... [all might] (ch 301)
(sure, that's your motivation. you say that while you literally have the same eyes as when you think about all might being better than you).
endeavour's eyes when thinking about all might being better.
endeavour's eyes when thinking of "stopping tōya" through the birth of more children.
we see that shōto is born, and that tōya doesn't stop training on his own, which causes endeavour to snap at tōya:
endeavour: no! why won't you stop?! you're covered in burns... and you still don't get it?! why?! tōya! you have to... look beyond all this. play with natsuo and fuyumi! make some friends at school! there's a whole other world besides the hero stuff... i know you understand that! take my advice, and this'll all be a distant memory soon. tōya: the kids at school all say they wanna be heroes. i can't understand that. because i've got you as a father. you lit this fire in me, dad, and it's not going out! i can't just pretend it's not there! [uses his fire] look at me, endeavour! look... at me!! [goes to attack baby!shōto] (ch 301)
all tōya wanted was not to be discarded, and he could see just as well as anyone that endeavour didn't seem to care about the others as much -- that's why tōya went for shōto, not for any of the other siblings.
endeavour had no real idea how to talk to tōya, or even knew how to reach out and get some help, and that was probably (mainly) because what he was doing with rei and creating his children was illegal, as we hear from a doctor earlier.
and before anyone blames tōya, he's young ass kid who knows he's being discarded by his father, and he wants attention. just any sort of attention. yes, he's going to lash out. yes, he's going to keep on doing what originally got him his father's attention (aka training). yes, he's going to try to attack endeavour's "perfect child" for "taking his place". i don't blame tōya for that -- i blame endeavour.
rei: [in the present] you don't get to claim you're hurting more than anyone. and you're not the only one who didn't really see him. (ch 301)
this next chapter, the next part of the flashback, chapter 302, is particularly rough, and it's in part with what's hinted in rei's last part of this comment. (i agree with the first part! endeavour doesn't get to claim that he's hurting more than anyone else. it's the second in context with chapter 302).
we return back to the flashback where endeavour is talking to rei about separating shōto from the rest of his siblings.
endeavour: i'm too busy with work to look after him [shōto] 24-y... which is why i've hired help. but you -- don't you take your eyes off of tōya. rei: he just wants you to look at him. to notice him. that's all. endeavour: all i can show anyone... is the world of heroes. rei: heroes? aren't you just running away? (ch 302)
interestingly enough, endeavour's face in this conversation is covered by shadows. all we really see are the whites of his eyes and the side of his face where sweatdrops of stress are running down. rei's face, too, is practically covered aside from a close-up on her stressed eye. a lot of rei's downward spiral focuses on rei's eyes over anything, so i think this is where we kind of see -- well, not the start of that (we do see that focus in ch 301), but the continuation of her stress that leads eventually to her mental breakdown.
then, we continue on (with an interesting conversation between tōya and rei, but we're focusing on endeavour unfortunately, so alas) with tōya talking to endeavour.
tōya: listen, dad. next time you get a day off... you gotta come up to sekoto peak with me. endeavour: [grabs tōya's shirt violently and lifts it up. his thoughts: new burns! where he can keep them hidden! he's been training that way on purpose!] damn it! again?! tōya: no, wait! what i can do now is really cool! you gotta come see! i might be as awesome as shōto sooner or later! maybe i'll be even better than all might someday! then you've gotta give me some respect, dad! you'll be glad you created me! i just know it! (ch 302)
the next scene is a very clear domestic abuse scene (even if it cuts away from the actual hitting).
endeavour: why didn't you stop him?! huh, rei?! damn it, that's all i asked you to do!! shōto: [crying and stepping in front of rei, trying to defend her] don't bully mommy! stop it! don't be mean to her! endeavour: get out, shōto! it's none of your business! natsuo & fuyumi: [cowering, crying, and covering their ears] rei: i... can't stop him. (ch 302).
skip the next scan if the narrative hint of domestic abuse happening might upset you.
now, i'm putting in the scan to showcase that we essentially get to explicitly see this all go down. endeavour is a shadowy figure in the bedroom, we see nothing of rei's face except for her eye (crying, and again, that same focus where we see her slow descent into her mental break), and we see all of the children cry except for tōya because he's out training on his own again.
the fact that endeavour decides to berate, and most likely hit, rei instead of going after his son -- well, he'd come to regret it later when tōya supposedly dies because "all he [endeavour] taught me... was how to turn up the heat." (ch 302). tōya burns himself to death because endeavour decided that because his quirk wasn't good enough to beat all might that he rather not train him at all anymore. that -- ugh.
and then we get out of the flashback and back into the hospital room in some of the most abhorrent lines of the present moments of this arc.
endeavour: if only i'd given it all up that day... but having killed tōya... i felt there was no turning back, so i poured all my energy into shōto... at the expense of everything else. rei: once tōya was gone, you grew worse and worse, until i couldn't stand the sight of you. it got so bad, i even started seeing hints of you in the children's faces. fuyumi: i knew our family was broken, but i was too scared to interfere. all i could do was try to fix things just to keep up appearances. natsuo: it was you who started all of this. you're the root cause, but... maybe, if i'd just slugged you in the face and made you have a few serious talks with him... "dabi" never would've come about, and i would've been enjoying some good soba with shōto all these years. rei: you're not the only one who's responsible, and now we all have to take responsibility for what comes next. (ch 302).
ignoring the next part for now, holy fucking shit. horikoshi makes the decision to spread the blame of tōya's death to the rest of the todoroki family, never mind that rei was also abused by endeavour and that fuyumi and natsuo were twelve and eight respectively.
endeavour showed no signs of listening to ANYONE. rei told him flat out that he just needed to give tōya attention, and he didn't listen. the fact that fuyumi felt burdened on trying to keep up appearances and felt like she didn't try to fix things at the age of twelve -- horrific. the fact that natsuo blames himself for not trying to talk some sense into endeavour at the age of eight -- horrific.
this is the moment where i threw the endeavour redemption arc into the garbage -- the rest of the family taking blame onto themselves that they shouldn't blame just so that endeavour can just right back up and be a hero.
endeavour was not going to change, not for anyone. hell, even with tōya's death, and endeavour admits it himself, it made him even more stubborn in his ways because one of his extensions of his will sacrificed himself, so he best make sure that shōto becomes the best extension of his will he can be.
this is genuinely so disgusting that i can't even put into words just how terrible this is. the fact that horikoshi made this decision -- i lost all respect for horikoshi as an author and in the endeavour redemption arc.
this chapter ends with shōto being proclaimed as the family hero and that endeavour needs to come back as a hero and fight dabi and by this point, i already hate everything, so throw the bitch out.
i think if the endeavour redemption arc had stopped in chapter 252, i think it would have been great. i think if they had played off the dabi reveal in any other way, without the family blaming themselves to partially absolve endeavour of his guilt, i think it could have been fine. but the way that this played out, the way that the victims are blaming themselves in part to make the abuser feel better -- no. just, fucking no.
is that a thing that happens in real life? do abuse victims internalise the abuse and then think that the abuser was just trying to do their best? oh yeah. however, with how the rest of the arc seems to be going with endeavour (endeavour showing up in the newest chapter still going around as a hero -- the number one hero, even), horikoshi is condoning that instead of writing it as unhealthy as it should be written.
thus, nope. throw the whole fucking thing away. no thank you.
#⤷ shouto t.【 ❝ heroes also have times when they cry. ❞ 】metas.#this is a 5.9k meta#this is longer than some of my college essays#it's also a lot messier than a lot of my college essays#i don't go that deep deep into analysis and word choice like i normally would#but i think y'all can get my points#tl;dr: fuck horikoshi and fuck endeavour ty very much#mentions of child abuse //#mentions of domestic abuse //#mentions of suicide //#mentions of murder //

as long as i’m reflecting you
Summary: “I can’t believe you haven’t figured it out yet. I'm you, Hawks."
@hawksweek2020 day 1: Cliché
If you’d rather read on ao3 (or if you want to read my long rant in the chapter notes): https://archiveofourown.org/works/27203351
Fandom: My Hero Academia
Pairing: Gen
Rating: G
Characters: Hawks, Dabi
Dabi towers over Hawks as he lies there, helpless, blue flame licking greedily at his face and wings. He can feel himself shriveling under the heat, but perhaps the worst part is this:
Takami Keigo.
Dabi knows his name. Dabi knew all along what Hawks was doing there, knows more than even his friends do—his name.
Hawks panics at the sound of Dabi’s boots crunching on the broken shards of his visor—He can’t die here! The battle is far from over, and he’s the only hero ready and equipped to deal with the aftermath. There’s not much Hawks can do, at this point, but he does have one option. Dabi needs time between using his quirk in order to recover. Use conversation, distract him, draw him in. In Hawks’s experience, villains never pass up a chance to gloat and throw their self-righteousness in everyone’s face. Get a villain talking about themself, and they won’t shut up. Even closed-off Dabi will likely blab his life story, thinking Hawks is about to die. It’s worth a shot.
“The only members of the League I found nothing on were you and Shigaraki. I found everyone else’s background, their families—but for you, I couldn’t even find a name. Who are you?”
Dabi sets a foot on Hawks’s back, leans his weight into it. Hawks pushes himself up with his hands as much as he can to prevent his ribs from snapping. He’s miscalculated. Dabi will keep his secrets over his ego. Hawks accepts his death even as he fights and pushes against it; he can’t die, but he’s going to, and there’s nothing he can do about it. He’s expecting Dabi to burn him to death right there, and he’s already bracing himself and gritting his teeth against the heat. He is <em>not</em> expecting Dabi to crouch down, one foot still on Hawks’s back, and whisper:
“I can’t believe you haven’t figured it out yet.” There’s a warm huff of laughter on his ear that has Hawks cringing away, then— “I’m you, Hawks.”
-----------------------------
Hawks wakes up to the horrible smell of antiseptic solution and the annoying tug of compression sleeves on his leg hair. Then, of course, the swoop of vertigo that speaks of some Pretty Heavy Anaesthesia. He tries to cough the smell out of his mouth, but is met with a sore throat—more than sore, actually. It’s like someone’s taken literal sandpaper and dragged it down his entire esophagus. He gags, tries to sit up, is hit off balance by the vertigo, and promptly throws up over the side of the bed.
He leans back against his pillows and wallows in the agony his stomach acid has raked over his poor, abused, sandpapered throat.
“Can I get you anything?” asks a nurse holding a bucket. Oh, good. He’d vomited into a bucket and not all over the hospital floor.
Hawks gestures frantically to his throat with a plea in his eyes that the nurse hopefully interprets as “water,” or “cough drop,” or even, “please just slit my throat and put me out of my misery.”
The nurse hands him both water and cough drops. Hawks’s eyes water with gratitude. Well, either that or pain. Maybe both.
“Sorry, man,” says the nurse as he reaches to adjust Hawks’s blanket. “They had to do surgery on your wings, and you had a breathing tube.”
Hawks croaks in horror. “Wings!?”
“They’ll be all right. You also had some skin grafts for the burns.”
Burns. Dabi. I’m you, Hawks.
“Phone,” he demands urgently.
With his miraculously only-slightly-singed phone in his hands, Hawks shoos the nurse away and starts tapping and typing with frenzied vigor.
His google search shows him an article spotlight on him, featuring an interview with Tokoyami, who apparently saved him. Good kid, that Tokoyami. It also shows him that there were minimal casualties and that apparently the UA students were spearheading the clean-up and rebuilding of the battleground. Okay. Okay. Good, good. All of it good.
Now, what he <em>really</em> wants to know: Dabi.
To: VP HPSC:
get me every pic i ever sent u of dabi highest res possible asap
also the cam footage of lov hideout
To the number he’d found on Google for the news network he saw at the raid:
Hi, this is Hawks. I saw your news logo at the fight in Reika. I was wondering if you could send me any footage you managed to get of the villains. Thank you. Here’s a selfie for proof it’s me.
To: Dabi (Villain):
hey ik its a bit of a long shot but like i would love an explanation thanks xoxo <3
He knows Dabi’s claim is ridiculous. He knows, all right? What he’s actually hoping to find is some connection to Endeavor. There’s definitely <em>something</em> familiar about Dabi, and that, paired with the fire quirk, could explain it.
The first replies he gets are the pictures and footage from the Commission. Hawks zooms in and examines Dabi’s hair. He always knew it was dyed. The roots come in a lighter color, which would make his hair look perpetually greasy if it laid flat; but instead, it makes his spiky hair look just the slightest bit detached from his head. As he looks at the pictures, he’s surprised to realize that he was already biased toward his Endeavor explanation in his head: he was thinking Dabi’s hair was white, like the color of Todoroki Shouto’s ice side, from whoever was Endeavor’s wife. Closer scrutiny shows that it’s actually a dark blond, like Hawks’s own hair.
That doesn’t mean anything, though.
Dabi’s aesthetically stapled under-eye bags are right in the spot where Hawks has his natural eye markings.
The one picture he managed to find of Dabi shirtless (It’s okay, Hawks reminds himself. I’m a creep with a noble cause. It was for the intel) shows that the stapled purple skin covers the part of his back where Hawks has his wings. If Dabi had wings and they were removed, purple skin grafts or whatever those were would cover up the evidence quite nicely.
And… what Hawks learned during the raid. Dabi’s weakness is his own quirk. Fire. That’s Hawks’s own biggest weakness. That’s almost too much to be a coincidence…what if…?
As he’s looking over the Commission’s images, he almost drops his phone in surprise because Dabi (Villain) texts him back.
Every intelligent thought in his head evacuates in favor of wtfwtfwtfwtf.
It’s a selfie—a close-up of Dabi’s face, right behind a hand that’s flipping him off. It’s just the puzzle piece that he needs, because the small gleam of light catches on the telltale glint of a contact lens, and Hawks can see where the edge of the blue goes lighter where it’s not covering the colorful iris underneath—Dabi’s eyes aren’t actually blue. And, what Hawks has always thought of as edgy eyeliner looks suspiciously similar to his other eye markings.
Another quick text to: Pres HPSC, VP HPSC:
i dont have any sort of long lost twin brother right??? or like an evil clone or smth??
Almost instantly, he receives a No.
It should be a relief, but his mind’s still going haywire. Dabi…is him? He is Dabi? Dabi is Hawks? Does Hawks is Dabi who? Shut up, brain, you didn’t connect shit. It Dabi, Takami Keigo Dabi Hawks… if Hawks? Who Takami Dabi… he…
-----------------------------
Maybe I shouldn’t try thinking when I’m high on painkillers, he thinks when he wakes up.
As he looks around, he realizes he’s been moved to a more long-term room. Instead of curtains, it has a door, and there’s a TV and a nightstand. His phone is dead and he’s not about to call the nurse to come plug it in for him, so he switches on the TV instead, not sure how much he can trust his conclusions on the outcome of the raid if he convinced himself that he was somehow Dabi in the same 10-minute timespan.
The first thing that shows up on the news channel is a report about Hawks, and he’s greeted with the atrocious selfie he took to prove his identity to the news channel. His hair is a devastated battleground and missing completely on his burned side, he’s covered in gauze and medical tape, and his smile looks half-crazed. What was he thinking?
“Hawks is recovering in an unknown hospital, but he looks to be well. The real question is, will the Number Two Hero still be able to charm without half of his famous wind-swept hair?”
“I don’t know, Motome-san. Let’s look at some footage of the battle. I’m sure any lady—or gentleman—would be charmed by someone willing to go so far to protect them.”
Hawks rolls his eyes and scowls, but doesn’t turn off the TV. If they show his fight with Dabi—if he could get a quick glimpse of him—he could turn off the idiot switch in his brain that won’t shut up.
Instead, what he sees is a streak of red that flies into Dabi’s hand. That’s one of his feathers. Dabi controlled one of his feathers. Dabi has control of Hawks’s Fierce Wings.
To hell with his pride! Hawks repeatedly jams the help button on the side of his bed, and a nurse arrives soon after, out of breath. Hawks feels a little bad for scaring the poor man, but he needs to charge his phone. As soon as it turns back on, he sends out the text to almost every single one of his contacts.
Hi all, this is Hawks. I’ve figured out the identity of the villain Dabi. It should help you lure him out and take him down. DABI IS ME. Text me with any questions. Go after him with fire, if you can.
Within three minutes, Hawks has rejected 7 calls. Text me with any questions, he said. Not call. He won’t be speaking with his sandpaper throat for at least the next month if he has anything to say about it.
Someone with enough manners finally texts instead of calls. It reads: omw to kill you right now. should have finished the job last time.
Oh, shit. Did he really send that message to Dabi?
Yeah. He did.
SOS this is not a joke, he sends to the HPSC. Dabi just texted me says he’s going to kill me right now. i’m in the hospital, can’t fight. PLEASE send someone
He answers the next call from Pres HPSC. “Can’t talk,” he rasps and tastes blood on his tongue. The president talks to him and he gives one tap for yes, two taps for no.
“Do you really want us to send someone?”
One tap.
The president sighs. “Hawks, as soon as you can speak, I expect the most thorough, detailed, in-depth report you’ve ever given in your life.”
--------------------------------
With Hawks’s warning, they capture Dabi easily enough. He shows up at the hospital directly and comes face-to-face with Endeavor, who, knowing about his weakness to fire, easily takes him down.
When Hawks visits Tartarus a month later to interrogate Dabi, he wonders how he ever missed it. Without the dye and the contacts, there’s no denying that Dabi is Hawks. He’s left wondering, though.
“Why did you text me at the hospital that you were on your way to kill me? I immediately got Endeavor there. I thought you were a little smarter than that.”
Dabi just shrugs, his newly-regenerated red feathers rustling with the movement. “Obviously not. I am you, after all.”

Enjoy.
H. A. W. K. S.
Act 1: Heights.
It’s raining tonight.
He’s always liked the rain. Maybe it made sense, with his quirk and all, but something about water streaming from the heavens soothed him.
He’s crouched on an arm of a crane, at the top right where the hook hangs 50 meters below him. His wings are hunched up, rain cascading down them like they’re made of glass, his coat and hair are lightly misted with a thin layer of water. Cupped between his gloved hands is a room-temperature can of instant coffee. He takes sips from it whenever he remembers to.
It’s a quiet night on patrol. The city has, graciously, decided it was going to be quiet for the night. He gazes out over the world, city lights flaring against the plastic of his visor. He pushes it up onto his hair. Rubs his eyes. Blinks. Drinks some coffee.
Nights like these were what he - in theory - enjoyed. Quiet. Serene. No one around to disturb or ask him anything. Perched at the top of the world, weightless and free.
But every time those graveyard shifts rolled around, without fail, an extreme sense of disappointment settled in.
He knows he should be happy. He should be savoring the precious moments of peace whenever he could, as they were such a rarity. But he couldn’t help but feel a sense of emptiness, a hole where he was expecting joy to fill it. Instead of feeling free, he just felt tethered to the ground, an invisible chain wrapped around his ankle.
He stares up in the air, being met with pitch blackness. He can’t tell the difference between cloud and sky.
Being alone meant there was...nothing. Nothing to do. No one to talk to. Nothing he had to be. He didn’t have to be anything - no one but himself.
Himself… who even is that person, if they even exist? The line between his hero persona and who he truly is blurs with every passing day that now he thinks - fears - there’s no difference. It’s just one blur, like the clouds in the night sky.
After the curtains shut (if they ever shut at all…) and he takes his final bow as Hawks, who is he?
He gazes out over the city, burying the multitude of thoughts he doesn’t have answers for far away from his mind.
Act 2: Apathy.
He never wanted to be in the top ten. But as most things in his life, fate had a different plan for him.
He doesn’t understand why he’s so popular. Ok, well, that’s a lie, he does partly. But he doesn’t understand what makes him good enough for the top of the pyramid. He’s not like All-might or Endeavor, who became famous for their pure strength. His wings are powerful, sure, but not that powerful.
If he had to take a guess, he’d bet the appearance of his feathered appendages were a big contributor to his fame. That and a mix between his speech and his looks (don’t even ASK him what his fans see in him, he has no idea. ) But in the end, the why isn’t important, but how he handles that fame.
He smiles politely at the people crowded around him. Sign this for him. Nod at that person. Take a photo with her. Thank this person. Laugh at this one’s joke. Let the kids tug on his wings. It’s all standard stuff he’s been trained to know how to do. Simple.
The hardest part is figuring out what people want. How much effort to invest in the conversations, how much he has to smile to make them satisfied, but not enough for them to get too confident. People and their emotions are easy things to figure out. It’s a formula. A pattern. Once you know what they like, it’s just a matter of providing that euphoria again and again.
Out of the corner of his eye, he spots a person who wriggles through the crowd, coming close to him. They appear nervous, maybe hopeful, wringing their hands out in front of them.
“Excuse me?” They ask.
Hawks finishes up signing something for a kid and turns to them.
“Hey, what’s up?”
“I…” As they pause, Hawk’s eyes trail lower. A red feathered charm hangs from a metal chain around their neck, resembling the feathers on his back.
He recognizes it. It’s one of his merch products from the latest jewelry line that came out. He showed it off in a recent photo shoot he did. The necklaces have been very popular, from what he’s heard.
The fan clears their throat and finds their voice. “I just wanted to say thank you for all that you do. I love you so much and I think you’re amazing.”
A confession? He feels like laughing. Wow. It’s not the first time he’s had one of those, and it certainly won’t be the last.
He smiles good-naturedly at them. “Thanks! I’m grateful for all the support my fans give me.”
They flush, just happy to be able to talk to him. He wishes he could feel bad. Or feel anything for all these people fawning over him.
But he doesn’t. He feels nothing.
You don’t love me, he thinks, you love the idea of me.
Act 3: Wings.
“What a great quirk you have! I bet you’ll be able to become a super-strong hero with it!”
“You’re so lucky to have a powerful quirk!”
“I’m so jealous of you!”
“Wow...look at them!”
...things like that were what people told him all the time as a kid. How lucky he was, how blessed he was, blah blah blah.
He’s lying on his back, staring up at the ceiling of his apartment. He’s shooed most of the feathers out of his wings, leaving just little whisps on his back. It’s still a bit uncomfortable and feels a tad annoying when they press against the sheets of his bed, but he doesn’t mind. Sometimes that ache is good.
The rest of his feathers flit about the room. Some stick to the walls or ceilings, others hover around, suspended in midair. A few zoom around, disturbing the others, but most just kinda lay around.
Mighty wings. That’s the name they gave his quirk. A more accurate term would be mighty feathers, but it’s not like he cares about the technicalities.
He rubs a dead one between his fingers. The barbs are frayed and the edges are bunched together.
It was always his quirk that got him attention. It was always the wings that people noticed and remembered - not the man who controlled them. Without them, would anyone even recognize him? Or was he just a pretty face that went along with them?
He glares at the feather in hand, crushing it carelessly between his fingers. The crack of the stem as it breaks echoes through the room.
So yes, what a great quirk he was born with! It was so good, they decided his life for him.
Act 4: Kill.
His wings always felt heavier when wet. Sadly, he found out it didn’t need to always be because of water. Blood also weighed them down.
It was his first time in a mock battle. Back when he was...7...8? Something like that.
Well, anyway, he’d been up against an opponent that was a lot stronger than he was in terms of physical strength. It wasn’t an important fight, it was just a casual sparing match. But they’d both fought like their lives were at stake. At the time, his feathers weren’t as strong or large as they are now, so he didn’t have much to work with.
During some point in the fight, though, he remembers getting a nice cut on his opponent. Right along the arm on the meaty part of the tricep. The feather jerked through the skin, cutting a jagged, wobbly line into the muscle.
When he felt it, he shivered.
Afterwards, he cleaned himself up in the bathroom, washing away his own blood from the cuts and scrapes he gained. When it came time to do his feathers, he’d thrown away the bloodied one, taking an hour to carefully preen and scrub the rest of his dirtied feathers.
Back then, it felt easy to get the blood off of him.
Now, things are much different.
How long do you have to wash your hands before the blood goes away entirely? He ponders to himself one night. Does it really ever go away? Or does some of it stay behind permanently in microscopic percentages?
He stands over his sink, shoulders hunched, head hanging. The faucet is on, sending a gush of water down the sink. Wasteful, he chastises himself.
Blood trickles from his nose in slow, steady drops, twirling down the drain. He’d gotten careless, a bit too sloppy, and the consequence had been him landing face-first into the ground. It wasn’t broken, thankfully, it just hurt like hell.
He stares at his hands, gripping the edges of the sink. They’re spotless - not a drop of blood or a spec of dirt on them. He’d worn gloves after all. It made cleanup easier.
The wings on his back twitch. They’re red. Even though he can tell when there’s blood on them (it’s always just a bit darker) who knows for certain if they’re entirely clean? Maybe the blood just stains them, slowly changing the colour of them, layer by layer.
He stands there for a minute, before pumping a few squirts of soap into his hands, and viciously scrubbing them together.
No guilt. Just the need to be clean. Though he knows that it’s pointless to think he’ll ever be it.
Act 5: Sorrow.
There’s a certain kind of pain that follows denying your pleasures in life. It’s not a sharp pain but a slow scrape, like someone is tearing your heart apart tissue by tissue, leaving behind nothing but a cold pit. It creeps up on you, seeping into your body, sucking the life out of you.
Most people hated Mondays. They're the first day of the business week, always the hardest to come back from after celebrating the weekend. For Hawks, it’s always the opposite. Fridays are the hardest for him.
All around him, he sees people living their lives. Excited students going for karaoke, exhausted business owners going for a relaxing night in, clusters of friend groups going out to eat at a restaurant.
Everyone is having fun, they’re existing, relishing in the pleasures of life.
But for Hawks, those weren’t things he could take part in. He’s always busy, tied up with one thing or another that the higher ups needed to be done. An endless, to-do-list that only lengthens the faster he tries to go.
Sometimes he wants to scream. Or cry. Or slam his fists into the ground. Rip his throat raw until he can't speak. He felt the need to do something to ground himself, something to treasure himself that he was alive. Because half of the time, he feels like he’s not really living.
Every day is the same. Different day, sure, and different tasks, but the same routine. Like a loop. He gets up, works, goes to bed exhausted, wakes up exhausted, and repeat.
Over and over and over.
And what is the point of it all? He’s only...what, twenty-two? And yet, he feels like he’s lived enough for a lifetime and not long enough simultaneously.
He wants to go out and see the world. He wants to curl back up in bed and sleep for a solid three months. How can two oxymorons both be true?
He tears his gaze away from the window and the people walking in the streets of Tokyo, shutting the blinds and taking a seat at his desk.
Even on his darkest days, even when he feels like he can’t handle being himself for another second, he always calms down. Without fail, he always picks himself back up, piece by broken piece, and looks forward to the future.
It’s the only thing he can do.
H. A. W. K. S.
He’s barreling forward in life, flying faster than his wings can take him.
One of these days, he’s going to trip and fall. Maybe he’ll slip further than he can catch his mistakes, or maybe he’ll reach his nonexistent limit and throw in the towel, but inevitably, one of these days he’s going to come down.
“Hawks.” A woman in a plain black suit and dark sunglasses says to him. “The meeting is starting now. Are you fully prepared?”
When that does happen, there’s no doubt it’ll be painful and ugly and hurt like all hell. He’ll fall through the sky, crashing and burning, hurtling towards the ground where he’ll collapse in a trembling, pathetic mess.
But until that point, he’ll keep flying on. Because it’s the only thing he knows how to do.
He smiles, ready to compromise himself over and over again.
“Yup.”
Hawks. A man who’s too fast for his own good.

Speaking of Bakugou: Him constantly yelling ‘Don’t give me orders’ only to then follow said orders?? iconic
ALSO ICONIC: Midoriya basically fucking tackling him to stop him from getting into it with Mahoro, the cain instinct everybody
Nine has a hella cool design and like I CANNOT be the only one who thinks he looks at bit like the first OFA user AND Nana Shimura, ESPECIALLY with his hair down
He looked cool but he’s a fuckin stupid villian, ‘I want a world where the strong rule over the weak’ bitch what world do you think you’re living in now???
Not to be a villain-fucker on main but Shigaraki was rlly hot in this movie
I straight up GASPED when Nine’s blue dragon-y thing got Bakugou, I literally thought he was gonna get cut in half
Momo and Denki literally exhausting their quirks to keep the islanders safe.... IM PROUD OF THESE FLEDGLING HEROES
SHOJI!!!!! Shoji was SO good this movie!! gentlest giant ever! the ammount of times he shielded Mahoro & Katsuma with no regard for himself :’))
Mina and Tokoyami was an unexpectedly cool team-up, Dark Shadow going sicko mode when Mina gor hurt? I FELT that
Todoroki ‘Petty’ Shouto voice: My father told me to push my body to its limits with my fire & then use my ice to cool myself down,,,,, I’m gonna do the exact opposite and almost definitely give myself hypothermia
Seriously!!! the way he just kinda curled up on the ground after defeating Chimera??? that shit hurted
Red Riot is on the scene! And once again I was blown away by how freaking awesome unbreakable is
Uravity and Cellophane?? did you mean team up of the motherfucking century???
Uraraka pushed herself so goddamn hard she was AMAZING, that last stunt with the logs holding back the literal WAVE of boulders? plus fuckin ultra
Aoyama was also hella plus ultra, king has an incompatible quirk that gives him severe stomach pain but he still pushed himself so far past his limits
Momo, on the verge of collapse, quirk exhausted: Hey everyone I made two whole goddamn canons
Seriously where’s that post about how Momo loves canons despite their impracticality, this is getting ridiculous
Using Kaminari as a freaking lightning rod,, jfc
Everyone in the cinema lost their SHIT at Bakugou and Midoriya reaching for each other,, Midoriya saying ‘It’s fine if it’s you’ I was C R Y I N G
Bakugou kicked Midoriya out of the way of one of Nine’s blasts, he could’ve grabbed him or yelled at him to dodge but no, he decided on kicking him out of the way
The cain instinct strikes again
Seeing all of the OFA predecessors animated?? seeing Midoriya in that grey-scale with the orange flame just like All Might at Kamino?? YALL ;-;
‘This is... the final Smash. Goodbye One For All. Thank you’
Bakugou finally fucking got to say ‘detroit smash’. god bless
Nine literally summoning A Whole Fucking Tornado TM only for Midoriya and Bakugou to punch said Whole Fucking Tornado TM into submission, I can’t
I thought Deku was gonna use Black Whip in this movie??? I really guess they were trying to avoid as many manga spoilers as possible
Might+U during the final confrontation with Nine,,,, good fuckin use of the song
Actually, the whole soundtrack was brilliant, Hayashi Yuki is a fucking genius
All Might holding Bakugou and Midoriya’s hands, thanking OFA’s predecessors, aaaaaAAAAAAAAA
‘Win to save and save to win, with that you can become the ultimate heroes’
SPEAKING OF THAT ^ Bakugou being the one to save Mahoro whilst Deku goes in for the attack on Nine?? character growth babey
The callbacks to Kamino,, ‘You’re Next’,, the United States of Smash,, All Might is the best don’t @ me
Bakugou not keeping OFA and not even remembering he had it was a total asspull but I’m willing to write it off as ‘Oh well the movies are only semi-canon anyways also Plot Armour’
Bakugou calling Sero by his name,, Bakugou letting Kaminari live after calling him ‘Bakugou no Kacchan-kun’,,, the team up to take down Mummy, ‘Kirishima is the only person Bakugou’s actually friends with’ WHERE??
Deku telling Katsuma ‘you can become a hero’! we’ve come full circle and it made me fucking CRY
Also,, the way Katsuma wants to be strong hero who can beat up any villain??? and the way Mahoro is a protective person who was literally willing to give up her life for her baby brother??? ‘win to save and save to win’??? the fuckin PARALLELS ya’ll
Bakugou and Midoriya are brothers don’t @ me I know I’m fucking right
I didn’t entirely understand what Katsuma’s quirk actually IS??? ‘cell activation’ means fuck all lmao
Todoroki’s FACE when Endeavour was hugging him, like literaly boi had almost frozen himself solid but he still somehow managed to look more disgruntled dealing with his dad
IIDA REALLY GOT TO STEP UP!! he and Momo taking charge and delegating tasks?? Iida going in BY HIMSELF to distract Chimera? Iida using Torque Over??? IM SO PROUD :’)
Speaking of Chimera what the fuck even is his quirk? at first I just thought he had a mutant-type quirk then I was like ‘oh cool it’s actually a transformation-type’ then he started shooting his fucking mouTH BEAM and like isn’t that an emitter??? how the hell can he do all that with Just One Quirk
Nine: ‘There can only be... one leader’
Shigaraki, disintegrating him: ‘Yeah and it’s me bitch’
the future king has arrived,,,
In conclusion: platonic bkdk rights, dadmight is canon, I would die for Mahoro & Katsuma, go beyond plus ultra!
