“You do wanna fuck me,” Regulus insists in a grumble, the beginning of a pout pulling at his lips. “But that isn’t the goal here, or what’s motivating my actions,” James retorts. “And you want to sleep with me too, so stop throwing it in my face like I’m the only one.” Regulus smiles, but it’s unamused. Icy. “I do,” he replies easily, letting his gaze fall down James’ body lazily before it comes back up. “I’m kinda curious if all that cockiness has something backing it up.” “Why don’t you come here and find out for yourself?” James taunts him with a cheeky grin. The other man tries to hide it, he really does, but he’s too pale, and the soft pink dusting his cheeks is impossible to ignore. “Propositioning to me, Potter?” Regulus sneers, leaning slightly over the table. “I wonder what Lily has to say about that.” What?

Hey,🪄
Can I request a poly marauders fluff one shot where the reader feels insecure about whether they still love her? The reader is jealous of the relationship between Lily and the boys and thinks that they want to date Lily instead of them; especially because the whole school keeps saying how good they would be together.
Thanks if you'll do☘️
Here you go luvvie, hope you like it!
This is Part One, Part Two Here! CW: lil angsty but happy ending :)
Sitting at your house table, you look over to your boys, normally, this would bring comfort to you but not today. Today, they're sitting in a group of four, with Lily Evans. You liked Lily, she was sweet, kind and smart, but knowing that James used to have a huge crush on her makes you feel a bit funny about their seating arrangement. He's sitting next to her, leaning closer to tell her little jokes, while Sirius and Remus sit across from them, joined in the conversation.
It would feel better if your relationship was made official to the rest of the school, but you had all agreed that you'd keep it private for a bit, keep it for yourselves.
"Aren't they just so cute", your friend says from next to you, "do you think they all have the hots for her?"
Your heart drops, they do look cute. But they look cuter with you. Sighing, you decide you're done with dinner, and excuse yourself to the library, for some late studying.
•
It doesn't get better the next day. You decided to sit with your roommate for history of magic, making Remus the odd one out, as James and Sirius sit together. Of course, Remus ends up sitting with Lily, and everytime you hear Remus' low chuckle from something she said, the clump in your throat grows bigger. Your friend makes another rude comment about Remus and Lily, making you speed out of the classroom as soon as the bell rings.
•
That same night you're sitting in the Gryffindor common room with Remus, as the other two boys have practice. Feeling that green monster everytime that full head of red hair comes around, you decide to sit closer to Remus, show everyone that he's yours, putting your legs across his knees.
"Are you okay, princess?" He mumbles, kissing your head.
"Yeah, fine", you say, not looking up from your book. He humms, not fully believing you, but deciding not to press the matter.
When the clock hits 8 pm, you know it's not long before James and Sirius come back up to the tower, and when they come back, the four of you will retreat to their dorm, and everything will be good again.
That doesn't happen, however, not really. They come back, with Marlene and the rest of their team, and they give the entire common a very intense retelling of practice. It feels good, your legs still over Remus' and James sitting on the armrest next to you, Sirius walking around the room, dramatically showing his great save, pretending to be holding his beater's bat.
It all comes to an end, when Lily tells him to shut his mouth and he quips back a "make me, Evans". Now, even Sirius is flirting with her, while you're sitting right there. Your eyes roll back far enough to see your own brain, so sick of them all liking Lily Evans more than you.
Your eyeroll, however, doesn't go unnoticed. "Guys, time to shower, come on", Remus says, tapping your thighs, showing you that you should follow.
"Baby, what's wrong? Are you upset over something?" He asks as the four of you enter their dorm. You sigh, looking down. It feels silly, they shouldn't have to take care of your feelings, if they'd all rather be with Lily.
"I'm fine", you say, quietly. They share a look, before sitting you down on one of their beds, standing above you. "You're not fine, you've been avoidant with us for days, what's wrong?" "Yeah, you've gotta talk to us, we can't make it better if we don't know what we did wrong."
You sigh, again, knowing that they're right, but not really looking forward to the conversation that is to come, "do I have to be worried about Lily Evans taking my place in this relationship?" You decide to go the straightforward way, wanting to ask before they tell you, letting them know that you know that they like her.
They share another look, and then Sirius is laughing, "oh, baby, is that what's up?" You look up at him, "oh darling no, no one's ever gonna take your spot here, we love you so much-" James is interrupting him, "yeah, we don't like her, not like that, it's just nice being friends with her now that I have a girlfriend, she doesn't have to worry about me hitting on her" "Did you really think we'd like anyone but our little princess? You're our good girl, and we love you so much. And Lily knows about us, so she doesn't think anything else is going on", Remus fills in.
Oh. Oh... Lily... knows? About your relationship with the boys... Well that changes a lot of things, but you still feel the doubt in the pit of your tummy, "It just seemed like maybe you wanted to try to see someone else..."
Coming down next to you, a post-practice-sweaty James pulls you into his lap, "but baby, you're the only one we want, I'm so sorry if we haven't shown you that enough", he starts kissing all over your face making you giggle.
"Yeah, babes, you're never getting rid of us" "maybe you could let us show you how much we love you?"
They all envelope you, holding onto you, gripping you and holding you close, leaving soft kisses and whispering sweet words. You know that tomorrow you'll have to apologize to Lily for assuming the worst, but right now, you're perfectly happy just laying with your boys.
The next day, the whole castle knew about the four of you. <3
Part two here.

Prompt: death 09/10/24 @wolfstarmicrofic
Word count: 650
Sirius eyed the envelope warily, Remus had been gone for months now. He had been sent on a mission not long after their wedding. It wasn't a legal one, but it was all the same to Sirius. Slip of paper signed or not, all their close friends knew that he was a Lupin now, and that's what mattered - not government bodies or his higher ups at the order but who cared for them.
Before they'd gotten married, but after they'd joined the order, Sirius and Remus sat down and wrote a letter together. Just in case letters. They'd gotten the idea from Lily and James who'd done the same, something for the other to cherish if the other didn't come back one day.
Remus had been MIA for four months now.
Presumed dead.
Sirius didn't want to believe it.
The mission was only supposed to last a week, infiltrate and spy on werewolf colonies up north. Nothing to do with greyback or voldemort, just Intel.
"You don't have to open it." Sirius looked across the table, and Regulus was sat there toying the edges of the envelope. He shouldn't have been there. He was missing as well. But Sirius had started seeing people he shouldn't see not long after Remus left, like his sanity had walked out the door with him.
"He's not dead," Sirius whispered, not even wanting to entertain the thought. Like it was unfathomable for Remus to die, not after everything they'd been, though. Sirius toyed with his wedding ring. It was wooden because after paying for the flat, they couldn't afford much better from the inheritance Alphard had left.
"What is death anyway, Si?" Fake Regulus mused, still dancing around the pristine envelope. It hadn't even had the time to yellow and wither. "I'm dead, aren't I?" He smiled and pushed the letter towards Sirius.
Sirius shook his head hard. "You're not dead... you're just missing, like Remus is, " he murmured, picking the envelope up from the table. He bit the bullet and opened it, his eyes refusing to read the words. As if if he didn't read them Remus couldn't possibly be dead. As long as the letter was unread, he was still alive.
Sirius.
If you're reading this, I'm probably dead... or maybe sat with you in twenty years' time with a fat glass of red, and we're laughing over our cringe worthy confessions from when we were young and at war. Hopefully, that. Enjoy the wine future me. I hope you wrote something funny. You probably wrote a joke or something to cheer me up even if you're dead.
I hope we got married, and went on a honeymoon somewhere nice... maybe Greece or something. I think I'd like Greece.
I hope James and Lily managed to have a kid, James always wanted to be a dad.
I hope I got to meet my neice or nephew, James was always like a brother to me. Make sure he knows that.
I hope you'll be okay without me, Sirius.
Don't bury me, I don't like the idea of being under all that dirt and being walked all over. Maybe give me a viking funeral or something cool like that. My body and all my prized possessions burnt and pushed out to sea, off that nice quiet beach where I grew up. That's what I want.
I love you. Now, forever and always.
Watching over you,
Remus J. Lupin (but maybe it'll be Black by the time you read this, I hope so)
When Sirius looked up again, tears swelling in his eyes and a stubborn lump in his throat. There at the table, smiling sweetly was Remus in Regulus' place.
"You're never really apart from those you love im right here," he spoke, jabbing a finger into Sirius' chest over his heart. It felt so real. But his voice was wrong. Sirius couldn't even remember what it was supposed to sound like anymore.

"Did you see him? Did you see what he did?" Sirius snapped "God! I can't believe he did that. It was humiliating. What is Benjy going to think?"
James was quiet as he placed a glass of water on his hand "Here, drink up"
"I'm sober!" Sirius spat "I don't need this. Remus is the one that needs it"
James pursed his lips "Lily already gave him some. She is taking care of him. I want to talk with you"
"About what?"
Sirius was furious but not with James. Never with James. He had been excited to plan a party for his friends for Halloween. Not only his lifetime friends from Hogwarts but also his new friends from art school.
Sirius just hated how insecure Remus had gotten. They had been dating for almost two years. They shared an apartment. They loved each other. What else did he need as proof?
Sirius had never loved anyone as he loved Remus. He was so freakingly in love that sometimes that feeling scared him. Sirius could never stop loving him. He was sure of that.
But when Remus got like that, drunk and jealous, Sirius didn't recognize him. He hated when Remus acted all possessive.
Remus had gotten so drunk in fact that said horrible things to Benjy.
"Remus is seeing things where there are not" Sirius said as he took a seat but he was too energetic so he stood up again and began pacing.
"I am the one to blame all the time! But he is the one who got drunk and started insulting Benjy!! In front of everyone! We were supposed to be hosting a party together. I am bloody right to be angry, aren't I?"
James took a deep breath and pushed his glasses up, something that made him look more mature. Maybe he was more mature. He was a father now.
"Do you want me to tell you you're right because I am your best friend and practically brother... Or do you want me to tell you the truth?"
Sirius frowned and stopped pacing.
"What do you mean?" he asked "What truth?"
"Remus got like that because of your attitude" James explained "And I think he's right..." he shook his head "Not about getting drunk and attacking Benjy but about getting jealous"
Sirius was about to reply something to defend himself. But he decided not to contradict James.
Yes, Benjy was a good friend. They had gotten close really fast. He was wild and passionate like Sirius himself. And Sirius had fun with him all the time. It wasn't his fault Remus never wanted to come to the parties or raves. He was more a person to stay home and enjoy a good book. But Sirius was constantly changing. He was in the peak of his youth. Long gone were the days when Sirius was too scared of getting out of the closet or confront his family. He felt young, full of energy, more queer and open with himself. Art School had opened for him a whole new world for him.
James and Lily had a Harry, and they never had time for fun anymore, always busy with baby things. Everyone was invested in their own lives. Sirius barely saw his old friends.
Benjy was fun to be around. He didn't have commitment with anyone or anything. Something Sirius admired from him.
"You do spend a lot of time with that bloke" James added "You talk about him a lot"
"He's a good friend" Sirius replied.
"Really?" James raised an eyebrow. He was being patient "Because Remus is not the jealous type. He doesn't get jealous of me, even if we are close"
Sirius groaned putting his head back.
"That's different" he said "He knows nothing could happen between us, you're like my brother"
"Cheers for that" James grinned "So you're saying something could happen with Benji?"
Sirius didn't know what to answer "I..."
"He's bisexual, isn't he?"
"Yeah but I am in love with Remus" There was no doubt in his words. Not anymore. He had fought with his feelings for so long until he couldn't take it anymore. And bam, Sirius fell in love for the first time "I love Remus"
James nodded, but he didn't seem so convinced.
"Remus wouldn't get jealous out of nowhere, though" James said carefully "Sirius...be honest with me" he leaned closer "Do you have feelings for Benjy?"
It would be easier if James didn't know him this well, if he didn't know when he was lying or avoiding a subject.
There was something that Sirius could only describe as a silly crush. There were moments when his heart began beating a little faster when Benjy touched his arm. Or maybe how much he liked when Benjy teased him. He wasn’t handsome or good looking but his attitude towards life was so attractive. He was so easily queer and just a rebel. Something that Sirius wanted to be.
But he loved Remus and he would never do anything to hurt him.
"Maybe you're confused..." James said seeing Sirius’s expression "But Remus feels insecure is because you don't give him security"
Sirius snorted "Well, I'm always trying to do romantic things together. It's Remus that doesn't want to join"
James shook his head "It doesn't work if you're only doing it because you feel guilty of spending less and less time with him. It has to come naturally"
Sirius wanted to say something but when James said the things as they were, not even Sirius could deny them.
"Remus is not stupid, Sirius" he added "He is realizing something is going on"
Sirius couldn't sleep that night. He felt like the worst piece of shit. His worst fear had been hurting Remus and that was exactly what he was doing.
The thing was that nothing felt like before. They weren't in school anymore. The friend group was all over the place. And Sirius wasn't that kid who thought the Hogwarts castle was his whole world. The rivalry between houses. The pranks. Rugby matches. The Marauders.
Sirius was almost twenty and he felt so tired of trying to dissipate Remus's insecurities. But he did so because he loved him. Although everything felt so wrong lately.
Sirius didn't want to be a bad boyfriend and decided to bring him breakfast to bed.
He usually wasn't the romantic type. And yet once he had been so in love he did all these cheesy things. He was still in love.
"Good morning, Mr. Lupin!" Sirius chanted as he placed the tray on bed and sat next to the sleeping bult of his boyfriend "Waky Waky! There's a delicious breakfast waiting for you"
Remus groaned before opening his eyes. He looked dreadful.
"Hangover, aren't we?"
Well, with everything Remus drank last night...
Remus looked confused.
"I thought you were angry with me"
"I was" Sirius sighed, then grabbed the cup of coffee to put sugar on it "But it is a new day and I want to start it with the right foot" he said "Also, I need someone to help me clean the mess"
And also, you feel guilty, don't you? A voice that sounded too much like James said in his head. Sirius ignored it.
"Pineapple?" Sirius said as he grabbed some pieces with the fork.
Remus was waiting for Sirius to snap at him again probably. However Sirius kept smiling.
"I spoke with Lily last night, I remember" Remus said touching his forehead "She thinks that the way I acted was not okay..." he sighed "And I agree... I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything... I was..."
"Jealous?"
Remus nodded "Yes"
Sirius snorted. He didn't want to be angry anymore. But he didn't like the way Remus had acted.
"What's so funny?"
"Your jealousy, Remus" Sirius spat "I don't understand it"
Remus shook his head "Really?"
"Really? Really, what? I don't like that you're constantly thinking that I am going to... I can't stand your insecurity" he was actually not over it
"So I am crazy enough to see ghosts, yeah?" Remus was getting angry.
"You humiliated Benjy last night in front of our friends. I just wanted you to get along with them. With Benjy. I wanted my two worlds to collide"
"Okay I might have stepped over the line"
"Might have" Sirius mumbled mocking.
"But what do you want me to believe? I'm not crazy, Sirius!"
"It's about love!" Sirius replied "It's about trust and maturity" God, they were fighting again "I thought you wanted to be with me forever"
"You're the one who is not mature enough not to keep this relationship afloat"
"I'm doing everything I can!" Sirius almost screamed of fury. It had been exhausting actually. "I don't say anything when you speak hours on the phone with your friend, Grant"
"It is not the same and you know it"
"Right" God, they were so pathetic.
"Grant is like my James"
Sirius simply made a face. He knew Grant wanted to get into his boyfriend's pants all the time. He was just too good to admit it. And oh damn, he was acting the same way than Remus. All jealous and stupid.
"It's not only about Benji, Sirius" Remus said with tears in his eyes "It feels like you don't love me anymore, that I am a burden to you"
It felt like that when Remus behaved like this. Which made Sirius feel guilty again.
"Of course I love you" he said with tears in his eyes as well.
Remus leaned closer.
"Then swear to me you don't feel anything for him"
Sirius swallowed. He had to sound convincing. He had to stop feeling this way. And feeling sort of attracted to Benjy. He felt like he was with one foot in and one foot out of this relationship. He wished he could feel the same way when they started dating. On the top of the world. So happy and so in love. But lately his love was based on pure memory.
"I swear, Moony, yeah"
Remus smiled and kissed him then. And the way he did it felt so wrong and desperate. As if both of them were trying to prove something.
Then Sirius’s phone rang in that second, and as if it was a curse, Benjy's name appeared on the screen.
When Remus saw it, he immediately got hurt.
Sirius ignored the call and blocked his phone.
"Are we okay, then?" Sirius asked, surprisingly desperate.
Remus seemed tense.
"Thanks for breakfast" he said as he got out of bed "But I have to go to work"
And Remus was angry again. This was a cycle that never ended.
Sirius didn't say anything else than "Okay" as Remus entered the bathroom. He even slammed the door closed.
Fuck! Since when did this relationship felt like hell itself?

17.
"What are you going to do with him if I give him to you?" Ron asked Lupin tensely.
"Force him to show himself," said Lupin. "If he really is a rat, it won't hurt him."
Ron hesitated. Then at long last, he held out Scabbers and Lupin took him. Scabbers began to squeak without stopping, twisting and turning, his tiny black eyes bulging in his head. "Ready, Sirius?" said Lupin.
Black had already retrieved Snape's wand from the bed. He approached Lupin and the struggling rat, and his wet eyes suddenly seemed to be burning in his face.
"Together?" he said quietly.
Y/N crossed her arms over her chest nervously.
"I think so,,, said Lupin, holding Scabbers tightly in one hand and his wand in the other. "On the count of three. One -- two -- THREE!"
A flash of blue-white light erupted from both wands; for a moment, Scabbers was frozen in midair, his small gray form twisting madly -- Ron yelled -- the rat fell and hit the floor. There was another blinding flash of light and then —
It was like watching a speeded-up film of a growing tree. A head was shooting upward from the ground; limbs were sprouting; a moment later, a man was standing where Scabbers had been, cringing and wringing his hands. Crookshanks was spitting and snarling on the bed; the hair on his back was standing up.
"Well, hello, Peter," said Lupin pleasantly, as though rats frequently erupted into old school friends around him. "Long time, no see.
"S -- Sirius... R -- Remus..." Even Pettigrew's voice was squeaky. Again, his eyes darted toward the door. "My friends... my old friends..."
Black’s arm wand rose, but Y/N seized his wrist, giving him a warning look. Sirius jumped, as this was the first time Y/N had touched him— and she quickly retracted her hand as they both turned their attention back toward Remus and Peter.
"We've been having a little chat, Peter, about what happened the night Lily and James died. You might have missed the finer points while you were squeaking around down there on the bed — I'd like to clear up one or two little matters with you, Peter.”
“D-don’t know… what you’re t-talking about, Remus— He- he—“ He squirmed, pointing at Sirius with a trembling finger. “He’s here to k-kill me, he's got dark powers the rest of us can only dream of!”
Black started to laugh, a horrible, mirthless laugh that filled the whole room.
"Voldemort, teach me tricks?" he said.
Pettigrew flinched as though Black had brandished a whip at him.
"What, scared to hear your old master's name?" said Black. I don't blame you, Peter. His lot aren't very happy with you, are they?"
"Don't know... what you're talking about...," said Pettigrew again, more shrilly than ever. He wiped his face on his sleeve and looked up at Lupin. "You don't believe this -- this madness, Remus --"
"I must admit, Peter, I have difficulty in understanding why an innocent man would want to spend twelve years as a rat," said Lupin evenly.
"Innocent, but scared!" squealed Pettigrew. "If Voldemort's supporters were after me, it was because I put one of their best men in Azkaban -- the spy, Sirius Black!"
"How dare you," he growled, sounding suddenly like the bearsized dog he had been. I, a spy for Voldemort? When did I ever sneak around people who were stronger and more powerful than myself? But you, Peter -- I'll never understand why I didn't see you were the spy from the start. You always liked big friends who'd look after you, didn't you? It used to be us... me and Remus... and James….”
Pettigrew wiped his face again; he was almost panting for breath.
"Me, a spy... must be out of your mind... never... don't know how you can say such a --"
"Lily and James only made you Secret-Keeper because I suggested it,” Black hissed.
"Professor Lupin?" said Hermione timidly. "Can — can I say something?"
"Certainly, Hermione," said Lupin courteously.
"If you don't mind me asking, how -- how did you get out of Azkaban, if you didn't use Dark Magic?"
"Thank you!" gasped Pettigrew, nodding frantically at her. "Exactly! Precisely what I —"
But Lupin silenced him with a look. Black was frowning slightly at Hermione, but not as though he were annoyed with her. He seemed to be pondering his answer.
"I don't know how I did it," he said slowly. "I think the only reason I never lost my mind is that I knew I was innocent. That wasn't a happy thought, so the dementors couldn't suck it out of me... but it kept me sane and knowing who I am... helped me keep my powers... so when it all became ... too much... I could transform in my cell... become a dog. Dementors can't see, you know...." He swallowed. "They feel their way toward people by feeding off their emotions.... They could tell that my feelings were less -- less human, less complex when I was a dog... but they thought, of course, that I was losing my mind like everyone else in there, so it didn't trouble them. But I was weak, very weak, and I had
no hope of driving them away from me without a wand...."
"But then I saw Peter in that picture... I realized he was at Hogwarts with Harry... perfectly positioned to act, if one hint reached his ears that the Dark Side was gathering strength again...."
"It was as if someone had lit a fire In my head, and the dementors couldn't destroy it.... It wasn't a happy feeling... it was an obsession... but it gave me strength, it cleared my mind. So, one night when they opened my door to bring food, I slipped past them as a dog.... It's so much harder for them to sense animal emotions that they were confused.... I was thin, very thin... thin enough to slip through the bars.... I swam as a dog back to the mainland.... I journeyed north and slipped into the Hogwarts grounds as a dog. I've been living in the forest ever since, except when I came to watch the Quidditch, of course. You fly as well as your father did, Harry...."
He looked at Harry, who did not look away.
"Believe me," croaked Black. "Believe me, Harry. I never betrayed James and Lily. I would have died before I betrayed them."
And at long last, Harry believed him. Throat too tight to speak, he nodded.
"No!"
Pettigrew had fallen to his knees as though Harry's nod had been his own death sentence. He shuffled forward on his knees, groveling, his hands clasped in front of him as though praying.
"Sirius -- it's me... it's Peter... your friend... you wouldn't --" Black kicked out and Pettigrew recoiled.
"There's enough filth on my robes without you touching them," said Black.
"Remus!" Pettigrew squeaked, turning to Lupin instead, writhing imploringly in front of him.
And he scrambled around to Ron.
"Ron... haven't I been a good friend... a good pet? You won't let them kill me, Ron, will you... you're on my side, aren't you.
But Ron was staring at Pettigrew with the utmost revulsion. "I let you sleep in my bed!" he said.
"Kind boy... kind master..." Pettigrew crawled toward Ron "You won't let them do it.... I was your rat.... I was a good pet...."
"If you made a better rat than a human, it's not much to boast about, Peter," said Black harshly. Ron, going still paler with pain, wrenched his broken leg out of Pettigrew's reach. Pettigrew turned on his knees, staggered forward, and seized the hem of Hermione's robes.
"Sweet girl... clever girl... you -- you won't let them.... Help me...."
Hermione pulled her robes out of Pettigrew's clutching hands and backed away against the wall, looking horrified.
“Y/N! Oh, Y/N— we’ve been friends… you knew me—“ He attempted to lunge at her before being violently pushed back by both Sirius and Remus.
“Don’t you even dare touch her…” Remus growled.
Pettigrew knelt, trembling uncontrollably, and-turned his head slowly toward Harry.
"Harry... Harry... you look just like your father... just like him...."
"HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO HARRY?" roared Black. "HOW DARE YOU FACE HIM? HOW DARE YOU TALK ABOUT JAMES IN FRONT OF HIM?"
Black and Lupin stood shoulder to shoulder, wands raised.
Hermione covered her face with her hands and turned to the wall. Y/N bit her lip, unsure how to react or feel in the moment.
"NO!" Harry yelled. He ran forward, placing himself in front Pettigrew, facing the wands. "You can't kill him," he said breathlessly. "You can't."
Black and Lupin both looked staggered. Y/N exhaled a breath she didn’t know she was holding.
"Harry, this piece of vermin is the reason you have no parents," Black snarled. "This cringing bit of filth would have seen you die too, without turning a hair. You heard him. His own stinking skin meant more to him than your whole family."
"I know," Harry panted. "We'll take him up to the castle. We'll hand him over to the dementors.... He can go to Azkaban... but don't kill him."
Y/N breathed heavily, cold sweat coating the palms of her hands and the low of her back.
"Harry!" gasped Pettigrew, and he flung his arms around Harry's knees. "You -- thank you -- it's more than I deserve -- thank you --"
"Get off me," Harry spat, throwing Pettigrew's hands off him in disgust. "I'm not doing this for you. I'm doing it because -- I don't reckon my dad would've wanted them to become killers -- just for you."
Remus and Sirius looked at each other, and nodded.
Thin cords shot from Lupin's wand this time, and next moment, Pettigrew was wriggling on the floor, bound and gagged.
"But if you transform, Peter," growled Black, his own wand pointing at Pettigrew too, "we will kill you. You agree, Harry?"
Harry looked down at the pitiful figure on the floor and nodded so that Pettigrew could see him.
“Right.” Y/N finally spoke. "Ron, I can't mend bones nearly as well as Madam Pomfrey, so I think it's best if we just strap your leg up until we can get you to the hospital wing."
She hurried over to Ron, bent down, tapped Ron's leg with her wand, and muttered, "Ferula." Bandages spun up Ron's leg, strapping it tightly to a splint. Lupin helped him to his feet; Ron put his weight gingerly on the leg and didn't wince.
"That's better," he said. "Thanks."
Remus turned his gaze on Y/N and was about to ask her how she felt, before Hermione brought up a very real point.
"What about Professor Snape?"
“Nothing wrong with him.” Sirius bent over him and checked his pulse. “You were just a little… overenthusiastic, Y/N.”
Y/N winced. “Oops.”
Sirius muttered, "Mobilicorpus." As though invisible strings were tied to Snape's wrists, neck, and knees, he was pulled into a standing position, head still lolling unpleasantly, like a grotesque puppet. He hung a few inches above the ground, his limp feet dangling.
Lupin picked up the Invisibility Cloak and tucked it safely into his pocket.
"And two of us should be chained to this," said Black, nudging Pettigrew with his toe. "Just to make sure."
"I'll do it," said Lupin.
"And me," said Ron savagely, limping forward.
Harry had never been part of a stranger group. Crookshanks led the way down the stairs; Lupin, Pettigrew, and Ron went next, looking like entrants in a six-legged race. Next came Professor Snape, drifting creepily along, his toes hitting each stair as they descended, held up by his own wand, which was being pointed at him by Sirius. Y/N, Harry and Hermione brought up the rear.
Getting back up through the tunnel proved to be a challenge. Remus, Ron and Peter managed to squeeze through sideways, shuffling along in single file. Sirius followed with Snape dangling behind him, his lolling head bumped frequently against the ceiling under Sirius’ control. They walked in silence until they reached the end of the tunnel, where Crookshanks exited first to paw at the root knot, letting everyone else exit without the chaos of the tree’s moving branches. At last, all of them were out.
Silently, with the occasional cry and whimper from Peter, they trampled through the grounds and halted just where the Castle was in view.
Remus detached him and Ron from Peter, helping Ron sit down while keeping his wand on Peter. “Let’s take a break,” Remus said, to which a grateful Ron nodded.
Sirius dropped Snape down carelessly. Harry and Hermione rushed to Ron, joining him on the floor and asking him if his leg was alright.
“So.” Sirius said seriously, looking at Y/N.
She still had her arms crossed over her chest defensively, before letting them down to grab one of Remus’ hands. She raised her eyebrows.
“How much more innocent do I have to be proven to get a hug from an old friend?” Sirius said, spreading his arms wide open.
Y/N smiled slightly, dropping Remus’ hand and slowly walking up to Sirius. She raised her arms, letting Sirius engulf her in a warm embrace, finally relaxing for the first time tonight. “God, it’s been so long.” She sighed.
They separated and Y/N fought back tears as she cupped his face, taking the time to have a proper look at him. “You’re so thin now.” She whispered sadly, brushing her thumbs along his cheekbones which cut right through from underneath his thin layer of skin.
“And you’re beautiful as always.”
Remus watched them with endearment pouring out of his eyes.
“What more do we not know about them?” Ron whispered to Harry and Hermione with a puzzled expression as they watched the unusual reunion unfold in front of them.
“You’re gonna be free now.” Y/N smiled. “You’ll be able to eat whatever you want again. Fill these cheeks out.”
“I’m free.” Sirius chuckled loosely. Y/N nodded, doing the same as a tear threatened to spill. He laughed more loudly now, beckoning Remus to join them.
“FREE!” Sirius shouted, jumping up and down, then squeezing his two friends against him.
“Whoa-“ Y/N said, “o-okay.” She pulled away from them. “Careful”, and she reflexively placed her hand defensively over her stomach. Her jaw dropped as she remembered.
“You okay?” Remus eyed her with slight concern.
Y/N’s eyes widened as her mouth hung open, moving but unable to get any words out. Sirius’ eyes darted between the two, looking for clues on what was going on all of a sudden.
“I’m…” Y/N managed to say. “I’m…” She looked down at her hand and looked back up at Remus. Comprehension dawned on him and he covered his mouth, gasping.
“Are you…”
Y/N nodded furiously, heavy tears spilling out. “Remus, I’m pregnant, I took a test literally earlier tonight— I had forgotten, with everything that’s happened after— but I forgot, and it’s really early, but I was feeling off and so I did the test and—“
It was like all the words that had failed her just prior all fought their way out at the same time. Remus let out a scream that could only be described as close to a joyful howl and ran to her. He dropped to his knees, wrapping his arms around her and pressing his cheek on her stomach.
“Are you really?” Remus whispered for only her to hear, searching her eyes intensely through his own glossy ones, as if confirmation of the truth was hidden somewhere under her pupils.
Y/N nodded, smiling, eyes absolutely sparkling as she cradled his head. She burst into happy tears as Remus’ eyes welled up. For the next minute, all they could do was let out disbelieving gasps as words began to fail them. He stood up, wrapping her in his arms.
They hid their faces into each other’s necks, crying softly into each other. “I love you,” Remus said into her hair.
“I love you too,” she whispered back.
“Holy shit…” Sirius stumbled slightly at the news.
“It’s still really early,” Y/N said, finally pulling away from Remus, but unable to keep herself from smiling ear to ear.
“I’m…” Sirius whispered. He took both of their hands.
He was unable to finish his sentence but Remus and Y/N knew what he meant by the expression in his eyes and simply returned the silent sentiment.
“Thank you.” Remus said quietly at his friend, squeezing his hand.
“C-Congratulations Professor Y/N.” Hermione said shyly, afraid to intrude on this incredibly intimate moment. The three of them had just been watching silently from the side until now. Well, somewhat silently, if you excluded Peter’s muffled whines that he let out once in a while. “And Professor Lupin.”
“Thank you, Hermione.” Y/N said warmly. She read her nervous, unsure body language and beckoned her over, wrapping a protective arm around Hermione’s shoulders.
Sirius took a few steps back, turning to face the open air where the Castle stood proud in the dark distance.
Harry glanced at Ron and Peter, who sat immobile on the ground and inched closer to Sirius. The older man saw him approach.
“In all its’ glory, eh?” He turned back to the castle. Harry nodded. “God, it hasn’t changed one bit. Not from here, at least.”
Harry observed him. Almost longingly. In the span of a few hours, the image of him had completely changed in his mind. He wanted to know so much more. There was so much to ask.
"You know what this means?" Black said abruptly to Harry. “Me being free?"
“You can eat all you want now?” Harry joked. Black chuckled, glancing back at Remus and Y/N, who had taken a seat alongside the others. Remus couldn’t take his hand off Y/N’s belly.
"Yes...," said Black. "But I'm also — I don't know if anyone ever told you — I'm your godfather."
"Yeah, I knew that," said Harry.
"Well... your parents appointed me your guardian," said Black stiffly. "If anything happened to them..."
Harry waited.
"I'll understand, of course, if you want to stay with your aunt and uncle," said Black. "But... well... think about it. Once my name's cleared... if you wanted a... a different home..."
Some sort of explosion took place upon Harry’s expression.
"What — live with you?" he said. "Leave the Dursleys?"
"Of course, I thought you wouldn't want to," said Black quickly. "I understand, I just thought I'd —"
"Are you insane?" said Harry, his voice easily as croaky as Black's.
"Of course I want to leave the Dursleys! Have you got a house? When can I move in?"
Black turned right around to look at him.
"You want to?" he said. "You mean it?”
"Yeah, I mean it!" said Harry.
Black's gaunt face broke into the first true smile where the joy reached his eyes as well. The difference it made was startling, as though a person ten years younger were shining through the starved mask; for a moment, he was recognizable as the man who had laughed at Harry's parents' wedding.
Sirius looked at Harry as if he were his own son, but feeling slightly awkward, extended out his arm and pat the boy on the shoulder stiffly.
Y/N was watching the scene unfold between the two from her spot on the ground. Tears were rolling down her cheek, fast and hot. In that moment, hope filled up the chests of Y/N, Remus, Sirius, and Harry. It felt, it almost felt… like the future had a glimmer of a chance of having family in it.
Remus took notice, and wiped her cheeks dry with the back of his fingers. He took her hand, and squeezed it reassuringly. He was still crying himself, at the news that he was going to be a father.
His gaze was rested upon her face and while Y/N’s originally was too, her eyes shifted. They shifted to the sky behind him. A cloud had just cleared, and the night seemed to brighten a tad more.
She dropped his hand. The corners of her lips dropped.
Her face was now fully bathed in moonlight and Remus snapped his head back to see the full moon emerging into the sky. He went rigid.
“He didn’t take his potion tonight!” Hermione gasped.
“Sirius.” Y/N said, deadpan, not taking her eyes off Remus.
Sirius whipped his head around and froze. “Run.”
When Harry didn’t move the second he was told to, Sirius repeated it, and pushed him down the grass to where Ron and Hermione were. “RUN!”
Remus began to shake and Y/N jumped to her feet, but Sirius burst between them. “Leave it to me.” He said.
Sirius attempted to drag Remus’ transforming body away from the others as Y/N clutched onto Hermione and Harry’s shoulders tightly. “You guys need to run, okay?” She said, hands shaking in her grip as she nudged them in the Castle’s direction opposite from Sirius and Remus. “Ron, can you get up—“
She turned her attention to Ron on the floor, and squatted in attempt to help him get to his feet. “Oh, fucking hell—“ She cried at Snape’s unconscious body. She bent over him, slapping him multiple times on the face. “Wake up, wake up, wake up.”
There was a terrible snarling noise. Lupin's head was lengthening. So was his body. His shoulders were hunching. Hair was sprouting visibly on his face and hands, which were curling into clawed paws. As the werewolf reared, snapping its long jaws, Sirius disappeared from Harry's eyeline. He had transformed. The enormous, bearlike dog bounded forward onto the wolf. They were locked, jaw to jaw, claws ripping at each other.
Harry, Ron and Hermione stood, transfixed by the sight, too intent upon the battle to notice anything else. Peter, who was still tied up, was inching his fingers near Remus’ wand, which had fallen onto the ground not more than a few inches away from him. He squirmed through his ties and… BANG! Light flashed once he got his hands on it and he was free from the restraints.
“EXPELLIARMUS!” Harry pointed his wand, but it was too late— Peter had transformed into a rat and scurried off in the dark patches of grass. “Y/N, he escaped!”
“Fuck.” Y/N said, giving up on reanimating Snape. She rose to her feet, looking out for the rat, when another sound from afar caught her attention.
Yelping, whining… a dog in pain. A small thud of its body hitting the ground. Then, a howl and rumbling growl. Heavy paws running, and getting louder. The werewolf was headed back towards them.
Y/N looked between the spot where Peter had disappeared and the three kids. There was no decision to make.
“GO!” She yelled at them. “DON’T COME THIS WAY.”
And with a crack, she transformed into a dove and flapped her wings to get height. She whistled, getting the wolf’s attention, and soared through the sky, leading him straight into the Forbidden Forest.

Until your most recent chapter I didn't really stop to consider Molly Weasley's role in the first war. She had a baby, 2 toddlers and 3 kids to take care of, plus the house. I imagine she was the one preparing meals for the Order and tending to the wounded, since she seems pretty good with healing charms. It's a side of war that people don't really talk about, right?
What do you think were James and Lily's roles in the war? Either in canon or Lionheart is fine. Also, if you have the time and the will, I'd love to hear what you think about the while blood magic thing Lily did for Harry. Cause we don't really see this type of magic in canon, jkr was really vague about it, and since your Pansy seems to know quite a bit of blood Magic I was curious to know if they work in similar ways in your canon. It doesn't seeem like they teach this kind of thing in Hogwarts' normal curriculum, and to know that Lily Evans was possibly an feral muggle-born toying with dark magic fascinates me. Like, did Snape introduced it to her? The recent talk Draco had with his mother about cruel spells not always being dark magic and vice versa was really interesting and got me in my current state of rambling
This dovetails wonderfully on the heels of my last post about Molly Weasley, so I'll pick it up here! Molly is absolutely at the center of the Order's efforts in both the First and Second Wizarding Wars, and her role as a mother is indivisible from her role as a soldier. Bill is 7 or 8 when the first war begins, which means Charlie's 5-6, and Percy is around 2. You can only imagine the frustration for her — that's an age where someone really needs to be around the house, but at the same time, everyone you know is going off to fight. And like— oh—
Did you ever think that Molly probably had to sit through the battle where her brothers died? That's a thought that just occurred to me. Set aside what happened to Lily and James, or even Frank and Alice; Molly wasn't an only child until the war. Bill was old enough to know his uncles. Charlie was, too. And hey — do you think she had the twins before or after her twin brothers died? Which do you think is worse?
Anyway. I think James and Lily joined the war effort immediately, considering how short the timeline is after they graduate => marriage => baby Harry => Trelawney's prophecy. In Lionheart, Moody mentions that "Evans was 16 when she came to me," which I meant to acknowledge that students were (and are! cf. Cedric and Angelina) trying to get involved with the war before they graduated. Moody and Molly are of different philosophies on this, but it's implied that Moody accepted Lily's offer, because of Molly's remark about "forgiveness" — which is obviously a bit vague, but the implicit accusation is that the Potters wouldn't have died if they hadn't been soldiers. Of course, we know that's not actually true (my spin on this particular part of canon will be fully fleshed-out in the story, but as you can probably guess, James and Lily aren't random kills). But Molly doesn't know that, so in her mind, there's a straight line between Moody accepting Lily's offer and Harry being orphaned.
James and Lily, while by all accounts quite competent, are not actually described as being that powerful in canon. Becoming an animagus at such a young age obviously requires James to be an unusually clever and/or motivated kid, and I have no trouble believing that he was one of the most naturally talented wizards in his year, but he also reads as a bit of a lazy jackass in the one(!) scene we ever get. The person who vouches for his offstage character growth — Sirius — is frankly a bit of a jackass himself. To be clear, I'm not denying the James Potter Redemption Arc. I have great affection for James as this jackass jock who gets walloped off his pedestal by one Lily Evans, and then cobbles together a decent personality from spit and elbow-grease. I just don't think he's a mind-blowing secret agent or anything. In Mad-Eye's view, it would make most sense to put James somewhere behind the front lines, where he can learn from the seasoned Aurors. Same with Lily, too.
Which is good, in my opinion. It's important to the thematic tissue of Harry Potter that James and Lily are ordinary people — extraordinary in the hearts and memories of the people who loved them, extraordinary in courage and resilience, but not especially magical or gifted beyond the range of what normal people in this universe could achieve. That isn't to say that Lily didn't do anything remarkable on October 31, 1981; she did. But I have always liked how canon left them ordinary soldiers, who were betrayed and slaughtered by an accident of fate; in another world, it could have been the Longbottoms, or it could have been no one.

The Sun, the Stars, and the Moon- The Maruaders.
~~~♤~~~
Okay, so everyone is always saying how James Potter is the sun.
It's common, we all have heard it a million times; James Potter is the sun. Sirius Black is the stars. Remus Lupin is the moon.
Rings a bell, right?
Can anybody tell me what Peter Pettigrew is?
I hardly hear it, most fics he's sort of cut out anyways. Peter Pettigrew is like the best friend you try not to think about after a big fight, the one you shove all the memories of away when you aren't friends anymore.
But the memories are still there. They're good ones, great ones even. If you try cutting out everyone from your younger years you don't speak to anymore, you'd hardly have any memories at all.
And for the Marauders? Peter Pettigrew was an essential part of who they were.
He was there for every prank, every party, every game day, every cram study session. He was there good times and bad, the first one to hug James when he and Lily got together, the first one to hug Sirius when he came out as gay, the first one to hug Remus when they found out he was a werewolf.
He was there, day in and day out, every night. You can't just cut him out of their lives like he never existed.
I am not in any way the type of person to claim what he did was okay, he killed people, he let Sirius take the blame, he willingly gave up Lily and James' hiding spot to the Dark Lord himself. He let Remus believe for years that the love of his life killed one of their best friends and betrayed the other two.
But before this, before the hurt and the betrayal and all that happened in the years after they left those castle walls.
He was a child.
He was young and pure and excited to be something.
He was a best friend, he was warm hugs and study group snack bringer. He was reassuring words and the one to lift you up when you fall. He was non judgmental, the type to love his friends equally no matter where they all came from.
So yeah, James Potter is the sun, Sirius Black is the stars, and Remus Lupin is the moon.
But Peter Pettigrew is the sky that connects them all. Subtle and hidden in the background to most people. But so, so necessary.
Without him, they would fall, nothing to hold them up. Without him, they would be three friends, a little awkward and unsure of how to share their love with the space between them so separated.
He is the glue that turns them from best friends, to brothers.
So Peter Pettigrew is the sky, and I don't think a single one of those boys would have disagreed.
Farewell to You, ch 10
A few weeks later, the party went off without a problem. Everyone gave Ash their congratulations. Even all of the population of Pallet Town, for representing them for so long. Ash thanked them all, clearing his throat. It was time for the toast. Everyone raised their glass, looking at their new world champion.
He smiled at the group as he addressed, "Thank you all for always believing in me. Even though I had made so many questionable moves."
Iris teased, "No kidding! You are such a kid!"
Everyone laughed. Cilan smiled at his girlfriend.
He pointed out, teasingly, "You're still younger than me!" Iris wanted to retort back but decided not to. She wanted to let Ash continue his speech. So that's what he did. He continued, "First, of course, I wanted to thank all of my Pokemon for always being there for me. The ones that are here. And the ones that aren't..." Ash got sad for a moment and cleared his throat. He added, "Anyways, I wanted to thank my Mom, all of my friends, and my rivals. For pushing me in the right direction."
Delia smiled at her son proudly. He had come a long way since he first got a Pikachu that wouldn't listen to a word he said. Now the two were very close friends. She thought, 'Oh David, if you could see your son now. You wouldn't see a very stubborn boy. He's become much more than that. He's become a man. And hopefully, Misty can join our family soon.'
As soon as Ash saw his mom start to cry, he thought of his dad. He had a feeling, and Delia did too, that David would've been very proud of his boy. He thought, sniffling, 'I knew that I'd make it someday. And who would've predicted my start, though...'
Gary saw that Ash was also on the verge of tears and decided to change the subject. He winked at Ash, "Someone has to Ashy-boy."
With that, Ash snapped out of his sadness. That's when everyone laughed again.
Ash took Misty's hand, "And most importantly, I want to thank you. For pulling out of the river out of those years ago and beyond."
Misty had tears in her eyes as she laced their fingers together, "Oh Ash..."
Ash gave her a kiss, one which Misty happily returned. Misty held him close. Ash did the same thing.
"Pi pika chu!" Pikachu said, giving off its victory pose.
"Piplup!" Piplup said.
Dawn stated, "All's well that ends well."
Ash and Misty broke out their kiss, still holding hands. Togetic was happy for her Mama. Pikachu was happy for them too.
Lily teased, "So when's, like, the wedding?"
To that, Ash and Misty both blushed. "We're not getting married yet!"
Violet rolled her eyes jokingly, "Oh great, now they're gonna deny when they are tying the knot now."
Max laughed, "Just when we thought it was going to get easier."
Molly blinked, "It never gets easier. Does it?"
Max just shrugged.
May asked, "So what's the plan for the future?"
Drew flicked his hair out of his face, "It doesn't matter, as long as we all together."
...
Years later, Ash and Misty were finally married. They had a beautiful 3 year old named Trina. She had short raven hair and chocolate brown eyes. Misty was pregnant with their second child, a son. Paul and Ranee had a handsome 3 year old named Justin. He had short brown hair and green eyes.
Pikachu had settled down with Buneary. Dawn was married to Kenny but they decided against children. Drew and May had two children: Matthew and Katie. Matthew looked like his mother with brown hair and green eyes. Katie looked like her father with green hair and blue eyes. Matthew was 4 years old and Katie was 2 years old. Todd and Zoey were also married but they didn't have any children yet.
Brock and Lucy were married too. They had only one child: Fester. He had light brown skin and Brock's eyes. He is 4 years old. Solidad and Harley were engaged. James and Jessie were married. They were expecting a daughter. Tracey and Daisy were married but they didn't have any children. Max and Molly were traveling around together, dating. Bonnie hadn't found anyone yet, nor did Mahri. Rudy and Melody were married too.
Goh and Chloe were engaged. Barry and Bianca were married and were expecting a son. Clemont and Serena were also engaged. Kiawe and Olivia were married. Looker and Anabel were married but they had no children. Ritchie and Duplica were married and had one daughter: Amy. Amy has brown hair and hazel eyes. She is 3 years old.
Lance and Prima were married. Gary and Erika were married and they were expecting a daughter. Professor Oak had passed away a bit after Gary and Erika were married. Steven and Cynthia were engaged. Steven had lost his father way before the events years ago. Yoni was still in jail and Lawrence was on a very tight parole. Reggie and Maylene were married.
Brandon and Luka were engaged. Violet and Lily were still single too but they were okay with that. Delia had come over earlier that day to spend time with her grandchild. Delia had gray hair now but other than that she had not changed all that much. She was chatting with Misty as Trina was having a nap. Ash didn't know what was going to happen next but at least he had his family.
...
Wishmaker1028: There we have it! The end of Farewell to You! I really enjoyed working on this fanfiction. I originally wanted to have a moment where Team Rocket decided to let go of Lugia (2,000) like they did in the movie. Ash and Pikachu are complete tears as they watch them drop down to the ocean yet again. But it didn't make much sense for this to happen again since they didn't have to do that (in this story) so I scratched it. I wanted to share that. I am going to miss these characters and I hope you all have enjoyed this fanfiction. Please read and review! And always think outside of the box!
My take on Jegulus as someone who has been there and done that ( As a Sirius Black supporter)
Warning for the lovers of the ship to stay away because I don't have particularly positive opinion.....
So most stories make it seem as such a big forbidden love story. As these two as the idol lion and snake falling in love during times of war. And to make it seem more Romio juliet type, Sirius is shown as the guy who opposes him the most.
Now truthfully we don't know the exact state in which the black boys were brought up so everything is conjecture but we are sure that there was atleast emotional abuse to make a 16 year old to take such drastic actions.
And okay i can sympathise towards the teen Regulus that he didn't know any better or thought himself to be right. But in some way he was part of the family who made Sirius feel that leaving is a better option.
We know from canon that this man didn't let 12 years with Dementors completely break him. He had a strength to him even after being so so wronged by the side he was fighting for that the likes of Remus spineless lupin can never match.
So how can anyone believe even for a second that had Sirius had even a tiniest belief that Regulus could be helped he wouldn't have stayed. To drive the point home i would clear it that I neither believe that either black boy was pressured into joining Voldemort by their parents nor were they physically tortured at the hands of their own parents. This is my head canon. So he would have stayed had regulus been anything but the snobby pampered and secure kid. Similar to Draco Malfoy.
And i know there is no comparison but imagine that Harry was not physically abused at the hands of Dursleys. Just the typical emotional and psychological abuse. Now imagine a senorio in which either Ron Or Hermione went and fell in love with Dudley. .... Yeah that is the crude version of jegulus to it's core.
Because the only difference these two will be that Dudley was 1) Harrys cousin and not his brother 2) Dudley doesnt fall into beauty standard of the fandom 3) Dudley was not a wizard.
Because just like Regulus, Dudley too has a redemption ark in the books. He understood things to a certain extent, not fully mind you, which is very similar to Regulus.
Jegulus can be palatable if the ark is somewhat of black brother reconciliation first and then James and regulus becoming acquaintance then friends and then something more because anything else is really a betrayal to the highest trust and devotion Sirius has given to James.
Now most stories i have read in my stupid phase where i could stomach that thing was James going behind Sirius' back. Seeking Regulus out when he feels defeated for yet again being rejected by Lily Evans and finding solace in the arms of this guy while Sirius and Remus are having background drama because of the shack incident and thier own *blech* sexual tension.
I cannot express how much wolfstar i had to suffer just for reading Jegulus. I mean i hate Wolfstar with a passion. I cannot stand it but i did because I was going through this phase of jegulus. Obviously Sirius Black deserves better than Lupin.
All in all writers there are so great that they make you really hate Sirius for being against this relationship. Either he is the villian Or he is the road bump in their great love saga.
I mean i don't know where this thought came from making Sirius the problem behind everything in marauders era fictions. Yes he was a troubled kid, but aren't we all. Don't tell me that you had all your shits together by 21 years of age.
Jegulus for me is like a movie I have seen as a kid about fairies and princesses thta at the time I enjoyed the most as a child but now I find them ridiculous and laugh at my own younger self for ever finding fun in it.
But I guess that is what it means to grow up.
Alos as an end note Peter pettigrew is nothing but a tiny non existent character there. Even in alternative universe. So we know that that section of the fandom will remove anyone who hasn't got looks to support. I mean yes we all hate him, he did the worst thing but his importance is so so much more to Harry Potter than Remus Lupin's.
I mean James birthed him, Sirius is his support and family and motivation. Peter is the reason behind harrys eternal suffering but even if you remove Remus Lupin fron the story nothing significant will change.
If we remove James there will be no Harry. If we remove Sirius there will be 2 less books atleast. If we remove Peter then Harry would never reach his prophesied destiny. The only role Lupin plays is making sure Peter becomes an animagus along with the other two. But with how much Sirius and James were valedictorian level kids, they might have done it without the need to help their wolfy friend.
If anyone deserve this treatment it is obviously Remus Lupin because he has so less impact on people's life that it won't matter if he is just deleted.
Some of my marauders opinions that were not asked for:
I don't think they were all gay: like Peter in my head is straighter than straight but not in a homophobic way but in a "I tried being gay out but men just aren't for me," kinda way; also I don't see Pandora as queer to me she's straight and she's always known that so she super comfortable in her sexuality and I definitely see her ending up with Xenophilius in literally every au- Pandaxeno is like the inevitable straight couple in a similar way to how Wolfstar is the inevitable gay couple.
I think the wizarding world wouldn't have been extremely homophobic or misogynistic as a lot of people seem to think, and most of both would come from muggle-borns, I believe, although a fair bit of homophobia would also come from blood supremacists because of the obsession with their blood lines.
I love Jily and Jegulus. However, I don't think both can exist in the same world, especially if the fanfic follows canon. Canon James would never ever date Regulus because of Regulus being a Deatheater and that Regulus would have been very blood supremacist because, in canon, Regulus was there to show what comes of people that follow leaders blindly and to be a direct opposite to Sirius' character. However, in fanon, I like Jegulus quite a lot as long as it doesn't occur while Jily is happening because James would never betray Lily in such a way, especially after pinning after her for so long and then eventually getting the woman of his dreams. Canon accurate Jily lowkey kills me, though, because I know that at some point they're gonna die together for their son even if it doesn't appear in the fic itself but that fact kills me whenever I'm reading a canon accurate Jily fanfic or a fanfic with them as a background ship.
I love the Black brothers being good brothers.
Bartylus is like that one relationship that never should have happened but you can't bring yourself to regret it because you're still friends with them and it was the most valuable learning experience both of you ever had, y'know. So that being said, I like it in fics even if it was a temporary or one-sided kinda thing.
I think people focus too much on the male characters, especially for M/M ships, like I see barely any F/F fics, but I see tons of M/M ships even with the most obscure of pairings. (I'm basically asking for F/F fanfic recommendations.)
I like masc Sirius more than fem Sirius. I don't think Sirius coming from the family he does would ever be extremely feminine even if he hates them. I think he would still have feminine aspects about him, but he would be primarily masculine. In regards to Wolfstar and this opinion, I like the idea that both of them would be masculine and feminine in the their own ways but not necessarily one or the other, and I think to much focus is placed on their being a masc and fem person in a relationship instead of the possibility of two masculine people in a relationship or two feminine people in a relationship. I like the idea that both Sirius and Remus can be masculine and date each other without the need of one of them being inherently more feminine or feeling like one of them should be feminine, y'know.
Severus quirked his head up and his hands stilled from unpacking as he felt a familiar twinge in the pit of his stomach. Lily was close by. He always got that around her, even when they were younger. It had gotten stronger over the years, especially when he'd encountered her on the battlefield. He hated when that happened. The look of disgust in her eyes was not unnoticed.
He sighed gently as she started laying into him. Setting a folded shirt back down into his trunk with the others, he turned his head to look at her. "I don't have to explain myself," he stated. He wanted to tell her, Merlin, he did, but he couldn't. He didn't want her to feel like she owed him anything. He didn't want to force anything on her. He wasn't doing this so she'd all of a sudden forgive him and jump into his arms --- not that that would bloody happen anyway. He had a job to do, and he owed her this much.
Hopefully, she wouldn't catch on when Dumbledore stopped sending her out on missions. Or at least, she wouldn't blame him. He was not jealous of being the one to have that conversation with her. She was a firecracker at the best of times.
"I have my reasons," he said cryptically. "Believe me, if I wanted to kill you all, I would have done it already. I've known the location of this place for months now. There's no reason for me to do that. I can't imagine anyone here sleeps that well anyway, regardless of my presence."
As he finished speaking, a few cracks were heard downstairs, accompanied by familiar voices. Severus tensed and he turned back to packing. "Please leave," he said quietly.
Too late.
"Hey, Red, missed ya out there---" James started as he pecked a kiss to her cheek, then stopped in his tracks when he realised who was in the room she was standing in the doorway of. "What the fuck?" he exclaimed, whipping out his wand. "Why in fuck's name is Snivellus here?! Were you talking to him?"
Here we bloody go, Severus thought to himself with a roll of his eyes.
"Ah, I'd hoped to catch you all before you... Well, no matter now," Dumbledore said with an apologetic look toward Severus. "James, let me explain to you and the others the situation downstairs. Let Severus unpack."
"Unpack?! Surely you aren't saying he's living here now?!" James all but roared. The commotion caused a few others to come gather 'round: Marlene, Sirius, Dorcas. They looked just as confused as James did angry. "You better damn well explain, old man, because this is fucking ridiculous."
"What's going on?" Dorcas asked in concern, her eyebrows stitched together.
"What's going on is this crackpot old fool has let a snake into our beds!" James snapped, pointing back towards Severus's room. "So go on then, explain," he said as he shoved past him and stormed down the stairs.
Severus, meanwhile, was shaking his head to himself as he put his clothes away. Merlin help Lily.
"I think Dumbledore's finally gone mad." Remus breathed once the three of them were alone in the kitchen again. He couldn't believe the man they followed and trusted would bring a Death Eater right into their midst. Who was he kidding? That man specifically.
Lily looked as if she'd seen a ghost, spurring him to tuck his wand away and run a hand through his hair. "Who's to say he's not going to be spying on us as well?" He could do his best to bring it to the man's attention, but his mind was hard to sway at the best of times.
"He took the mark, we all know that much with the way they used to parade down the street with it showing." Molly scoffed, shaking her head at the insanity of the whole idea. "But you know how Albus is… once he has an idea there's usually a reason to it."
It was hard for any of them to really say something against the headmaster, even if at times they didn't understand his reasoning. He had been in wars like this more than any of them after all, and despite what it seemed on the surface he had to have a reason.
"I don't even want to think about what's going to happen when James and Sirius get back." Lily sighed as well, rolling up the map and sharing a knowing look with Remus. Reasoning or not it wasn't going to be much better than school, especially with all of their shared history.
The best they could do was just try to… work through it. Climbing the stairs to put the maps away - behind locked and warded drawers, of course - she paused when passing the open door to one of the guest rooms, watching Severus unpack his things.
The tension in his shoulders told her he knew she was there, probably had known before she even fully came into view. It was hard to tell whether the feelings running through her blood was satisfaction or disappointment - maybe a bit of both in different ways. She had been trying her best not to think about him at all, and then out of nowhere he just showed up?! It didn't make sense.
"Are you going to give any explanation for just popping up unexpectedly? I can't imagine you were just strolling by Hogwarts and thought about dropping in for tea." Her tone was cold, but it had to be. She had forgone self-preservation with him before, all the way back in fifth year. And look where that had gotten them. She folded her arms, slightly leaning against the doorframe but keeping her back far more stiff than casual.
Just the sight of him again when they weren't facing each other behind masks across the battlefield - she didn't know what to make of it. "How do you think any of us are supposed to sleep at night if you're going to be staying here? Dumbledore must have taken an oath from you, I'm not that stupid, but it's… why now?"
[ UNSENT ]: a letter written for the recipient, but which the writer ultimately never sends for reasons that the writer conceals, or may reveal within the letter itself.
Dearest Alice,
I don't even know how to begin, although I suppose it's easiest if I start with the news. Severus has come to us, and while I don't know if I can entirely trust him, there was a sense of truth in his words. I've heard his harshest truths before, and this one seemed similar to that day so many years ago. I don't know if it was the emotion behind it that sparked the urgency in me. Can I call him old friend again? Ali, the way he looked at me... It was unnerving and bright-eyed all at once. I felt small again, and you know how little I like to feel belittled.
I'm sure I'll tell you this information in person, but in case his words ring true, I needed to get it down. On paper. Just in case they come for me before a decision is made. Just in case... well, these days it's rather terrifying isn't it? Each morning. Each fretful sleep. Knowing that the next time you see someone might be your last.
I'm beating around the bush, anyways, but in case I never show up to tell you this information, know that your Neville isn't safe. There's a prophecy, one that decrees a boy born this year will defeat the Dark Lord. The problem is, that they aren't sure once one. And Voldemort will surely not cut any corners.
I am terrified of what this means, Alice. Terrified that it means I'll never see you again, that our boys won't grow up together like we planned. That we won't grow together as we planned. I miss you already, and you aren't even gone. Silly, isn't it? Yet, I can feel a goodbye rounding the corner, one I don't think any of us are prepared for. And, what is most terrifying about Snape's message, is that Dumbledore is leading us on. Using us as pawns. Making sure we die, so that his plan might live.
And I don't know about you, but it quite makes my blood boil.
I know we've skirted many times about the way Dumbledore seems to be handling this war. I know we feel the same way, or at least a semblance of similarity. You're the only other person, I believe, that understands what's at stake here in the same way I do. James and Frank too, although from a slightly different perspective as fathers rather than mothers. Maybe I'm rambling now, but I believe you'll understand what I'm saying, and that you can convince Frank to go very, very far away from here. If you get this letter, I hope you're doing well, and far from Voldemort's clutches, or Dumbledore's for that matter. I hope you aren't missing me too much. Or little Harry for that matter. I hope Neville gets to grow up with so much light and love in his life, and please make sure he knows he has us watching out for him too, even if we can't be around anymore. I love you, Alice Longbottom. Never forget what your friendship means to me. All the best,
Lily Potter x
Note: This letter was never sent, as they were able to speak to Alice before going into hiding. It was among quite a few letters, to James, to Petunia, to Snape, and to her parents. Lily later burned them all, in case anyone else were to get their hands on it.
Navigation | Sirius Black Masterlist | Celebration
“Finally” Sirius lets out a chuckle, Hogwarts reunion and you hadn’t managed to get one moment with your best friend the entire night
“I know right” you shake your head “5 years ago you couldn’t keep us apart” you smile, as does he, neither of you knowing your hearts ached in time
Everyone, including yourself and Sirius, believed you would eventually get together, but that blind hope was fatal in the end. With neither of you ever making a move life happened, school finished, you both graduated and ended up at opposite ends of the country, weekly letters turned monthly, and monthly ones turned into only on holidays and birthdays...
...but your hearts never stopped yearning for the other
“Funny how time just...flies” he says, shoulder finding the wall beside him in the little hideaway you both had sought refuge from the masses in
You do the same, head leaning on the wall as you admired your friend the way you always scandalously did, not knowing he was doing the same
“Very. Merlin, I mean you've got a big boy beard and everything now” you giggle, lightening the moon as you hand reaches out to scratch his chin ever so gently
He groans in the best way at that “You approve?” he asks, secretly hoping you do whilst hiding his disappointment as your hand drops back down
“Course, you look rather dashing” you say in a teasing manner yet hope he find the truth in your words “Almost like a grown up” you add to actually tease him
“You take that back” he points “I am as childish as ever” he disagrees
“Oh really?” you swat away his hand, moving a little closer as does he
“You doubt me?” he gasps, hand to his heart
You shrug, earning the cutest pout before shaking your head “Never” your eyes meet his, finding they sparkle…or maybe that was from the disco ball Marlene had enchanted to fly around
“Pads!”
You both jump, being brought out of your little pining bubble to see James looking thankful he's finally found Sirius and then he spots you and smiles
“Oh hey there!” he gives you a wave “Long time no see”
“Hey” you wave back “I know its been so long! You’re a dad now!”
“I know! Scary stuff they actually let me have one though" he jokes before bobing his head "…well actually it’ll be two soon” he tells you with a sweet laugh while you nod about to say you spoke to Lily earlier when Sirius cuts in
“What’s up?” he asks, looking at James a bit funny
James doesn’t seem to clock it though “Remus may or may not have have realised the hot chocolate was boozy…oh and Harry pit up” he turns to show the damage on his back, earning a giggle from you followed by a quick sorry which James just waves off
“Okay...but what’s any of that got to do with me Prongs?” Sirius wonders, eyeing him
“Oh. Ya see Remus was our driver and with me having a drink and Lily’s being too big to...” he explains before cutting himself off and frantically looking around “Not that she is in anyway large…merlin ya know I may have had one too many myself but you know what I mean she’s too…fuck it” he eventually gives up, cringing like crazy as he scolds himself while you try not to laugh too hard considering Lily said the same thing about herself earlier
Sirius nods smiling but inside his heart breaks “Okay. You go get Red, little Harry and Moons. I’ll meet you at the car in a few” he tells him, nodding towards you and giving his friend a way more obvious scolding look
James resists the cringe again as he must realise and nods “Thanks Pads, nice to see you again y/n” he flashes you that famous James Potter smile before heading back into the party
You and Sirius turn back to one another “Short reunion” he says but lets the sadness seep through this time
“Yeah” you nod with a similar tone
“I’ll write more” he promises
“Ditto” you return it “Hug before you go?” you open your arms
He nods "Course" he smiles, resisting the urge to scoop you up and take you with him as he steps forward and into your embrace
Your arms slide around his waist while his wrap around your shoulders, fitting perfectly just like they always did. The hug should have lasted a few seconds but you and he only held each other closer as time ticked on, your nose nudging into his neck while his, your hair. Soaking up the feeling of each others arms for as long as the moment would allow
Technically neither of you end it, a third party does in the form of a drunk classmate bumping into you both “Sorry mate” he holds his hands up before staggering on his merry way
Your hands hold the other but your chests part, chuckling together at the drunken boy before your eyes meet. A million things could be said but as always they weren't, and instead yours and his eyes bared them all at once
“They’ll be waiting” is all he says, smiling sadly
You nod, returning it with a downturned smile
“I’ll write more” you repeat his promise from earlier, fingers griping his jacket harder for a moment before you release them, trying to just prolong the moment a second longer
“Ditto” he does the same, leaning down to place a lingering kiss to your forehead and suddenly it feels like a goodbye, a real one this time, one your younger selves never understood, nor got in the end
When his lips leave your skin you part, hands finding the others until he walks away and you both let go. No more words. Neither one of you can bare the word ‘goodbye’ so you smile at one another before turning away
Sirius moves through the crowd, not looking back because it's too hard. Exiting the venue he sees the car and observes Remus trying to get in it, the sight amusing yet he can’t truly enjoy it. Getting in himself he inserts the key into the ignition but not doesn’t turn it. He felt sick, throat closing up as he felt like he was leaving his world behind
“You alright?” James asks as his hand finds Sirius’ shoulder causing Sirius to look at him, eyes glassy
James’ eyebrows furrow but before he can say anything Sirius unbuckles his seatbelt and opens the door, darting out with a quick “I’ll be back”
The three adults watch him run back in, staring out the window intently, Remus, in fact, does so much he hits his head, earning laughs, even from Harry who lets out a little squeal of one
“Prongs” Remus slurs as he finally stops blinking from the impact
James leans back, looking at him through the gap in the seats “Yeah Moony?”
“Y-you owe me” he manages to get out
James looks at him in shock before turning back to his wife “He can barely function yet he can remember a bet we made ten years ago”
Lily giggles about to say ‘mans got his priories in order’ when her eyes widen Jamie lower your window” she points at you, running out and sighing as you see the car hasn't left
“Hi” you approach the car, leaning on the car window as it opens “Wait” your eyes search “Where’s Siri?”
“He went back in” Lily reply, giving you a smile
You light up“He did?” you turn to Remus, and then James, although you do a double take on Remus who looks more than plastered but wears a gleeful grin
“Yeah” James gives you a smile as he confirms it, then his eyes wander behind you, smile widening “Behind you” his eyes return, gifting you a wink
Your heart flutters as you push off the door, turning to find a rather disheartened Sirius coming out, thinking he missed you and his chance again until you call out
“Hey stranger”
His head shoots up at your voice “Hey stranger” he sighs out in almost a laugh, his face brightening as he realises you went after him
You both just look at each other for a moment, eyes asking that all important question and when you nod he makes his way over to you, wasting no time in bringing your lips to meet his in a long overdue kiss while your friends cheered you on…well Lily and Remus did, James squealed with Harry who clapped with joy as he had been lifted out of his seat for a better view
Thank you for reading ♡
Mary loved romance. She hadn't been good in relationships. She was into bad boys who used her or she had hurt good boys instead. Like James Potter for example. Any girl would dream to have boyfriend like him. He was caring, romantic, he made Mary feel so beautiful and important when she was with him. He compromised. James was a tragic romantic who dreamed about marriage and happy endings. But Mary wasn't like that. She liked James but she couldn’t feel what he had felt for her.
Lily, on the other hand, was perfect for someone like James. She dreamed about love and happy endings too. She ate romance novels daily. She was a girl meant for marriage and cheesy stuff like that. Even if Lily hated James, Mary secretly rooted for the both of them. They could make a good couple. Both of them were Mary's friends and she knew that.
So Mary smiled when she spotted James staring at Lily during class with eyes of pure affection. Lily didn't notice most of the time. She would never believe that the toreag of Potter would actually like her that much. But it was pretty obvious that James was head over heels for her.
When James realized he was caught staring, he blushed as Mary raised her eyebrows at him. James looked away embarrassed. Mary shook her head amused.
"A question, Lily..." Mary immediately said once the class was over. She sat on Lily's desk casually. She knew James and his friends were listening to their conversation. Especially James "Potentially, what would you like a bloke who is interested in you, to do for you to accept him?"
James was definitely curious now. He even silenced Peter who had been talking.
Lily frowned as she picked up her things.
"Why are you asking that, Mary?" Marlene asked curiously as she approached them.
Mary shrugged.
"I'll let you know that Lily has a lot of admirers..." Mary explained "I simply want to know what they have to do to win her heart. Because they had been asking"
Lily's cheeks went as red as her hair.
"That's not true, Mary"
"Who has been asking?" Marlene asked.
Mary simply smiled, and started playing with her nails.
"What can I say, Lily. You're pretty"
Lily shook her head as she stood up.
"Obviously there are prettier girls than me"
"Lily... Blokes fancy you" Marlene intervened "You are just intelligent enough to not pay attention to them. Because they are not worthy"
Lily sighed and hugged her book into her chest.
"People aren't romantic enough anymore" she said "Back when they wrote poems and letters to their loved one..." she took a big sigh "Those where other times"
See? That was exactly the kind of bullshit James liked. Mary remembered how she used to find little notes, lyrics and poems from James all the time. Sometimes she got tired of them.
"Lily..."
Someone behind Marlene said and the three girls jumped. Severus Snape was a little creep who appeared like that.
Marlene and Mary exchanged disgusted looks. But Lily seemed to adore him somehow.
"Hi Sev" she smiled.
"Are you coming to the Library with me?"
Honestly, he never said hello to neither of them. It was as if the only one that existed for him was Lily. He was rude.
"Lily was coming to the Common Room with us"
And Marlene couldn't even hide how much she didn't stand him.
Snape clenched his teeth as if he was disgusted by Marlene's presence.
"I am sorry, girls" Lily intervened without even noticing "I promised Sev we were doing the History essay together..." Lily looked apologetic. Severus seemed triumphant "See you later..."
"Bye Lily" Mary sighed.
"Bye Lily" Marlene added as she watched them go. Then she turned and made gagging noises.
Mary laughed.
"I hate that wanker" Marlene said, sitting next to Mary "He always wants Lily for himself"
"I know... And he smells like rotten lettuce for some reason I can't even explain" Mary added.
Marlene shivered.
"So..." she said, smiling "Who has been asking for Lily?"
Mary smirked.
"You know we have to approve whatever wanker who wants to approach our sweet girl"
Mary gestured to the corner where The Marauders were still chatting. James was longingly staring at the door where Lily and Severus had disappeared.
"James..." Marlene sneered "He doesn't give up, huh?"
Mary shook her head "Marly... I think he is properly in love with her... It is not just a crush"
Marlene glanced at James thinking.
"Are you over him, then?"
Mary remembered the times when Mary used to pine and pine for James Potter. She didn't talk with Lily about it because she hated James. So Mary told Marlene all about her crush.
But that was before.
"Totally over him, darling"
Marlene narrowed her eyes.
"Besides I can tell when people fancy each other..." Mary continued "James fancies Lily... And Lily has to fancy him back at some point"
"I doubt it"
"She will realize it soon" Mary said "Just like you will realize you are into Sirius Black"
Marlene laughed and hit Mary's arm. Mary smirked.
"Again with that subject!" she exclaimed "I don't fancy Sirius Black"
Mary winked "Whatever you say, Marly"
Marlene rolled her eyes.
********
The next day, Mary and Lily walked to class on their own because Marlene got late with practice. Lily found a nice notebook on her desk. With a little note that read: "For Lily. Poems as well as romance never die. These remind me of you".
"What is it?" Mary asked curiously.
Lily had a big smile on her face as she flickered through it.
"It is full of famous poems and romantic love lyrics..."
Mary bit her lip. She was happy that James was actually doing something nice and romantic instead of acting like a fool in front of her.
"Who gave it to you?" Mary asked casually.
"They didn't leave their name"
"Any ideas?"
"Was it you?"
Mary snorted "Why would it be me, love?"
"Because of our conversation yesterday.... You wanted to make me feel better"
Mary raised her hands "I swear it wasn't me"
That moment, they saw Snape came into the class as well. With books in hand.
"Hi Lily" he smiled.
"I also exist..." Mary murmured but she was ignored.
"Was it you, Sev?" Lily asked.
Severus raised an eyebrow.
"What?"
"Did you give me this notebook?" Lily asked "You're the kind of person who would sit down and search for poems"
Mary frowned, looking at Snape. It hadn't been him. It had been James. Mary had helped him.
Snape's eyes flickered to the notebook in Lily's arms. He took a second to answer.
"Yes..." he said "It was me..." he approached with a smile "I heard your conversation with your friends yesterday and I wanted to give you something you would like"
Mary was disappointed. It had been James' chance. But perhaps he wasn't as sensitive and romantic as Snape.
Lily looked down, biting her lip.
"You didn't have to do that to make me feel better, Sev"
"I didn't do it to make you feel better..." Severus answered "It is the romantic gesture you deserved..." then he blushed "As friends of course"
Lily smiled and gave Severus a hug.
"Thank you. I loved it"
Mary wanted to vomit but she just rolled her eyes. There was something fishy about him. Lily deserved better.
Severus' expression was of pure joy as he gave into the hug. Like he had been dreaming about it for years.
"Lily..."
Mary wanted to protest some way but before she could continue, voices approached the door.
The Marauders were always loud. But James was frozen when he saw the scene. He observed Severus and Lily's hug as if it was physically hurting him.
Mary saw how his eyes flickered to the notebook in Lily's hand as if he recognized it. And then he looked down in disappointment.
Wait... Was he the one behind this after all?
The other boys and Marlene who was with them, looked disgusted.
It was Sirius who spoke when he saw his best friend's sad expression.
"Careful Ginger... You are going to get grease all over you..."
"Disgusting" Marlene added in a whisper.
Severus broke away from the hug with hate eyes for Sirius and the others.
Lily was rolling hers.
"Look Marly..." Mary said, taking Lily's notebook into her hands and walking towards Marlene "Snape got all romantic and gave Lily this notebook full of poems... All friendly by the way"
"Mary!"
Both Snape and Lily were blushing. But Mary wanted to prove something.
"Wow" Marlene said sarcastically with disgust.
"But.... But that was..." Peter began.
But James interrupted him.
"Wow Snivellus... I wouldn't have pictured you as a poet" James teased "Hope there's nothing erotic there about how you use your hair grease instead of lotion to wank"
The Marauders giggled except for Marlene who groaned saying: "Eew!"
Even Mary smiled. It had been funny. And it was pretty obvious her theory was correct. It had been James who wrote those poems.
But Snape looked miserable and embarrassed next to Lily.
"Shut up, Potter!" Lily snapped "You wouldn't understand a thing about literature!"
"They call me an expert, Evans" James crossed his arms, clearly offended. Then he cleared his throat "Roses are red..."
"Violets are blue..." Sirius added.
"Snivellus had a greasy hair..."
"And he needs to get shampoo..."
James and Sirius laughed hitting palms. The rest smiled amused.
Except for Lily who was furious.
"I just wanted to do something nice for Lily, Potter" Severus spat "Something you do for friends. But I suppose you don't have friends..." he gave a disgusted look at Remus, Sirius and Peter "Only minions of freaks who follow you around..."
Sirius wanted to approach and hurt him. But James stopped him.
"You are such a girl, Snivy"
"I think Lupin is the expert in femininity..." Snape added with a voice full of venom. And Remus seemed uncomfortable "Isn't he surrounded by girls all the time?"
Mary didn't understand the implications behind Snape's comment. But Remus didn't seem to like it and the rest of the Marauders looked furious.
"You little piece of..."
"Don't, Sirius..." Remus grabbed him by the shoulders.
"Leave it Sev..." Lily shook her head "They are not worthy.... And leave Remus out of this. He has nothing to do with this"
Severus was still looking furiously at all of them.
"Let's go, shall we?"
"Lily!" Mary protested. Every time she took Snape's side. And they were her friends as well.
Lily looked guilty as she took Severus' arm, dragging him passed The Marauders through the door.
Lily didn't notice how Snape purposely pushed Remus as he walked away.
Why did he have against poor Remus?
"What a wanker!" Sirius yelled. Then he approached Remus "Are you okay, Moony?"
Remus nodded "Yeah"
"What the hell, Prongs?" Peter asked "Why didn't you say it was you?"
"What?" Marlene asked.
James was looking at the floor.
"Wormy... It was supposed to be a secret"
Mary smiled "Come on, James. It was pretty obvious it was you, darling"
James looked at her. He bit his lip embarrassed. He probably remembered what he used to do for Mary.
"What are you talking about?" Marlene asked.
"It was James who gave Lily the poems, right?"
"What?" Marlene gasped.
James shrugged.
"Prongs! We spent hours in the library searching for stupid silly poems and writing them in the stupid notebook for Snivellus to get the credit?" Sirius tutted.
"Why didn't you say anything?" Remus added.
James didn't answer. He was still looking at the floor.
"Wait... So it was you who gave her the poems and Snape took the credit?" Marlene asked with her eyes widened. Mary nodded answering for James "What a sneaky wanker!"
Everyone agreed. Sirius was shaking his head furiously.
"You should have said something!" Marlene added, pushing James' shoulder.
"I think it is better that she thinks it was Snivellus" James sighed.
"Why?" Mary asked.
"Because she hates me!" James snapped. Then he swallowed "She hates me. She would have never believed I would do something like that... And even if she believed it, she would never take something coming from me"
James rubbed his hair in frustration.
"Besides, I didn't search and copy those poems to receive anything in exchange... But because I knew she would like them.... I wanted to make her happy. That's all" he looked down "She would appreciate them more coming from Snivellus"
Mary concluded that what James felt for Lily was more than a simple crush. Past James would had done anything to gain Lily's attention. But now all he wanted was her happiness.
"So Snape is a bloody liar" Mary tutted.
"It's not fair!" Marlene added.
James turned to them.
"And you two..." he pointed at them "Don't you dare tell her the truth!"
Mary and Marlene looked between each other. They had to tell Lily, right?
"Honestly mate...." Sirius put his hand on James' shoulder "That girl is not worth the effort"
"Watch it, Black!" Marlene snapped "Lily is our friend"
"And she is worth it, Pads" James added "I would do anything to make her happy"
"Prongs..." Remus smiled "Just say things like that in front of her and she would definitely see you differently"
"Yes!" Mary couldn't agree more.
"Instead of acting like an idiot around her" Marlene added.
James looked between them.
"Just... Don't say anything please..." he hissed.
"But..."
"Please!" James shouted "Promise it!"
Mary didn't think it was fair. Lily kept complaining that none one liked her enough. She dreamed about a prince charming and here he was, right in front of her. James would make Lily happy. Mary was sure of it. They deserved each other.
"Okay... We promise"
"Thank you, Mary" James smiled.
Maybe Mary was going to keep her promise about the poems but she had to do something to pair James and Lily up. She had to make her realize that James was not bad at all. And that he really loved her.
a distraction - j.p.
summary: y/n realizes something bad.
a/n: in this fic, y/n is a gryffindor and has ginger hair & green eyes so they look more like lily yk.
"so. . . all i've ever been to you was a distraction from her?" y/n asked him.
"no-"
"oh, please." she laughed humouressly. "stop wasting your tongue for lame excuses and lies, potter!"
they were now on last names again.
"i don't-"
"stop it! i see it. red hair, pretty green eyes, a gryffindor, smart. however the only difference between me and lily," she bit the inside of her cheek, "was that i loved you and she didn't. but i was still your second resort. maybe not even a second one. even merlin doesn't know how many redheads with green eyes were after lily and before me. was i even on the list?"
"stop it, y/n!" james said, tears falling down his cheeks.
"why did you make me believe that you fancy me when lily evans still owned your heart, huh?" she said angrily. "why did you suddenly give up on her and thought 'oh hey! how funny would it be to use y/n —"
"i didn't use you!" he cut her off, shouting.
"— just because she looks and behaves exactly like the girl i love?" ?"
there was a pause before james spoke. "i admit that— that from the start– only from the start you were just a distraction–"
y/n knew this was the truth. but it still hurted as hell. "only from the start?" she cried out. "you fucking dickhead. in the beginning, i meant nothing but a friend to you while i was already over heels for you! you asked me on a date just because lily was constantly refusing to go out with you!"
"i love you, y/n," he spoke softly and she wanted to believe him.
oh god, she really wanted to.
but she couldn't.
not when he broke her heart like that.
she shook her head. "you may love me, james, but you aren't in love with me. you are in love with lily. all i've ever wanted–" she sobbed, "all i've ever wanted was for you to look at me the way you look at her. and even after years of knowing each other and almost a year and a half of dating, it's still an impossible task for you."
"that's not true, y/n." at this point, james was a crying mess. both of them were. "you know how much in love i am with you! didn't you notice that after a month of talking i began to pay less and less attention to lily?"
"oh really?" she chuckled. no humor could be heard. "you probably were too busy playing with my feelings."
"please, just listen to me." he tried to grab her wrist but she was quick enough to move away out of his reach. "in our relationship i've never done anything to hurt you. not any cheating and not any fantasies about lily!"
"oh, wow, congratulations, potter!" she exclaimed. "do you want a fucking prize for not sleeping with someone else while being in a relationship? you want a prize for doing absolutely minimum?"
"you know that's not what i meant!" he said, his voice rising its volume. "you are acting like i did something like that but i didn't. you behave like i didn't give you all my love! why can't you try to trust me!"
"trust you?" y/n exclaimed. "don't you get it, james? i don't trust you anymore!"
the boy gulped. "what's the point of being together now, then?"
she shrugged.
"none."
Jegulily is perfect (in the perfect au where Regulus isn't a death eater, of course) so here's some oblivious Regulus for you
In hindsight, Regulus had seen it coming.
But really, James Potter is too charming, he couldn't help but let his guard down. The boy who's too sweet, who took care of his sibling when he couldn't, who gave Remus Lupin a home when his parents left him, who protected Peter Pettigrew with his life.
James Potter was irresistible, there was no denying.
And really, he was his sibling's best friend, he wouldn't hurt him, would he?
.
"Hello, Regulus." He had said, awkwardly. "I wanted to thank you for sending Sirius to my house, I don't know what I would have done if something happened to them."
He had smiled at him. "No, I thank you for taking care of them, mom and dad never hurt me like they hurt them, I'm safe there, for now, they weren't."
"Well, if you need somewhere to stay, my house is always open."
Regulus had blushed at James' smile, a crooked smile with white teeth and a dimple on his left cheek. "Thank you for that too, but for now I just want Sirius to be safe."
"You're a good brother." James had touched his hand on Regulus', brushing them lightly, then left, as if he hadn't done anything.
.
And that was when he knew he was going to fall hard for him.
A man so good, James wasn't capable of hurting a pixie. But then he saw him looking at her, with her auburn hair and emerald green eyes, James seemed to be hypnotized.
And who was Regulus compared to her?
.
"Hey, Reggie!" James once came to him after a quidditch match. Regulus had caught the snitch, but Gryffindor had won, James is the best chaser he knows. "Good game! You were great there, the way you fly, you are…" And he had lost his words, and blushed, he then cleared his throat. "You're a good seeker."
And Regulus had lost his words as well, blushing in return.
.
He asked James out a week after that, and James said yes. And everything kept getting better, and Regulus believed, at least for some time, that he'd be happy.
But when they were all sitting together under a tree, Regulus couldn't help but notice the way James seemed hypnotized by her beautiful voice, she sounded like an angel, her voice, her laugh… And who was him compared to her?
.
"Reggie!" James had come running to his arms as soon as they met on the train, hugging him with his life and kissing his jaw – he was too short to reach his cheek – with tears in his eyes. "I missed you so much."
"It's been two weeks, James." Regulus had said that with a dazed smile and pixies in his stomach.
"Not just two weeks, two weeks without you."
"You're something else…"
"And you love me."
"I do."
"I love you too."
.
He knew it wasn't a lie, James wasn't capable of lying about that. But people can fall out of love just as fast as they fall in it.
And he noticed him staring at her smile, her kind and wide smile, with perfect teeth. She smiled with her whole face, her perfect eyes crinkled, her freckled nose and cheeks completed the look with her rosy lips… And who was him compared to her?
.
"James?"
"Hm?"
"I asked if you're free this Saturday, I wanted to take you out on a date."
But Saturday was January 30th, her birthday.
"I thought I had told you, we're going to the Three Broomsticks this Saturday, for Lily's birthday."
"Oh, right." Those words were said with a glint of sadness. "I hope you have fun there."
"What do you mean you hope I have fun? Aren't you coming? I told them you were coming with me, you're on the guest list."
And he remembered that he felt his heart warming at that, something so small, and yet… If it was anyone else, Remus would have told him he was settling for crumbs. But he couldn't talk about that with Remus when it was about his brother.
"I guess I'm going, then."
"Great." Seeing James beaming was worth everything. "I love you."
"I love you too."
.
But Regulus noticed the way James hugged her, one second too long. And Regulus hugged her too, noticing that she smelt too good, a mix of vanilla, fresh parchment and… Well, lilies.
And who was him compared to her?
.
"James, what's wrong?"
He had found him hiding in a secret room, behind the tapestry next to the painting of the Fat Lady. James never cried, he never showed sadness. "What?" He saw him wiping tears and smiling, and his heart broke. It took him a lot not to cry at the sight. "Nothing's wrong, I promise."
Regulus sat down next to him, resting his head on the cold stone wall. "You can talk to me, love." He took James' hands on his and kissed his knuckles. "You're allowed to feel bad sometimes."
"I just…" More tears appeared in his eyes. "It's ok, you don't have to worry."
"I'll worry twice as much if you suffer in silence. You don't have to talk to me, you can talk to Sirius, or Remus, or Peter…"
"No, it's not that. I think talking to you would be easier. But I…" He sighed and furiously wiped his tears. "It's alright, I promise."
And Regulus didn't believe him, he kissed his head and held him from behind, humming an old lullaby.
"I think I'm overwhelmed." James finally said it. "I think everything is too much, and I don't know if I can take it."
Regulus cupped his face with his hands. "You don't have to carry the world on your back, especially not alone." He kissed his forehead. "And I'm here for you."
James, since then, learned to share his feelings and ask for help, and Regulus was so proud of him.
.
But he felt a bitter taste in his mouth when he saw James crying to her, and when he saw her hugging him, letting him rest his head on her shoulder.
James never rested his head on Regulus' shoulder.
And sure, he was a little too tall for that to happen, but he couldn't help but feel betrayed, because he seemed to like her hugs better than his. And James Potter was all about hugs.
And when he saw her comforting him, his heart broke because he knew she'd be able to do it better than him, she always knew what to say.
And who was him compared to her?
. . .
"Reggie, what's wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong, everything is perfect."
"Doesn't seem like it."
"Everything. Is. Perfect." He sighed. "Just leave me alone."
"Talk to me, love."
He held his tears. "Don't call me love, just leave me alone."
And James' face fell. "What do you mean?"
"I mean that I don't want to be with you anymore." He didn't look at him, he knew he couldn't take it. "We're over."
"Why?" James' voice cracked. "Did I do something wrong?"
"Just leave, Potter."
As he did, Regulus felt cold. He thought that if he broke up with James, it wouldn't hurt so much. Part of him was hoping he wouldn't leave.
But that was James. James respected people way too much, he wouldn't push.
It didn't take long for Remus to show up at his dorm, he had just put on his old pajamas and retreated to his four-poster. Regulus regretted having told Remus the password for the Slytherin common room.
"What is wrong with you?" He didn't yell, but his voice was somewhere between angry and hurt. "Why would you do that?"
He didn't answer right away. He had two options, the first one, the probably right one, was to tell Remus everything and try to work things out; the second one, the one he chose, was to fuck up all relationships he had. He would lose his boyfriend, his best friend, and, eventually, his sibling as well. "It's for the best."
"Regulus." Remus sat down next to him. "You don't expect me to believe in this shit, do you?"
He shook his head. Unlike James, Remus was a pusher, he wouldn't rest until he knew the truth. But he couldn't say it.
"Reggie, please." Remus didn't look angry or sad anymore, he looked desperate. "You're not a bad person, I know you, you would never do that to him."
He shook his head again.
"You love him. I know you do."
He shook his head again.
"And he loves you too."
"He doesn't." He said, desperately, and Remus shook his head and… laughed?
"Are you out of your mind? He's crazy about you, his eyes look like hearts whenever he sees you."
"Lies."
"When have you seen me lie to you?"
Never, Remus never lied to him, he was a good friend, he'd say the good and the bad.
"Where did that thought even come from?"
And that was when he lost the battle with his eyes and started crying. "Have you seen the way he looks at her?"
"At her? Who?"
He sobbed. "Lily."
"And you broke up with him, you broke his heart, because of the way he looks at Lily?"
"He likes her better."
Now Remus was angry. "That's it, you're not stupid. You're going to get up, you're going to put on some decent clothes, and you're going to apologise for being a total tosser and you're going to talk to him. Like the man I know you are." More tears fell from his eyes. "Are we clear?"
He nodded.
"If you're not there in ten minutes I'm coming back."
.
He didn't enter their dormitory, he knocked, Sirius and Peter left the room without looking at him and were followed by Remus, who shot him a stern look.
"James?" He went over to his bed, the curtains were closed, so he waited. "James, please."
He didn't answer with words, but he opened the curtains. The sight was heartbreaking, Regulus had never seen James like that.
"What do you want? I thought you hated me."
"I never said that."
"You didn't have to, you wouldn't have treated me like that if you didn't hate me."
"I could never hate you, James."
"Then why would you-" He didn't finish the word, he sobbed, and it was the most terrible thing Regulus had ever seen, it hurt his soul. "Why?"
"Because you look at her." His voice was shaking. "You look at her like she's the most beautiful, and important, and perfect person you've ever seen."
"At who?"
"What do you mean who? You know who I'm talking about."
"You're talking about Lily."
"There you go. It's not in my head, is it?"
"Reggie, look." He sat down cross-legged and started rocking lightly. "I know it doesn't sound good, but I need you to listen first. I've been trying to find the right time to talk to you."
"That's why I did that." His breath hitched. "I thought it would be easier if I broke up with you, I thought it would hurt less." He wiped his tears. "But it didn't work, did it? You're breaking up with me because you like her better. And I don't blame you, I would have broken up with me as well."
"Have you seen the way you look at her?" He spat and Regulus froze. "I have eyes, Regulus. You look at her like she's an angel. Like she's the love of your life."
Regulus didn't answer.
"And yes, maybe I look at her like that too, but I never stopped looking at you this way. I love you, Regulus. I could never stop loving you."
"But you love her too."
"So do you."
